"Made to for the first time this season. Look frankly average to a made bad decisions to a made bad throws. This was before two left the game with the injury to that performance against Georgia, and what Georgia had to do with it certainly could have cost to Tunga by Loa the Heisman Trophy after remarkable run. And that's because. Cuyler Murray has had a sensational season that until really Mel I think in the last four or five weeks has gone largely unrecognised for just how great it is. You know, what the what the performance against Georgia by two did in that game. He was ten for twenty five one hundred sixty four yards one touchdown two picks a sideline the injury. And Jalen hurts comes in and rallies the team. But you saw earlier that noon kickoff Tyler Murray. Go twenty-five thirty four for nearly four hundred yards three touchdowns. No picks. "This is the part though that I'm talking about in competitive imbalance. That makes it very difficult. Yes. The royals can sneak in there for one year and beat all the odds and bump their way towards the title. The royals can do it once in a while, but sustaining it. The margin of error can only be bought by the big teams. Imagine if it were so full right wish it were. So in football and basketball, I wish it were so so these free agents can make a ton of money and these owners who can't control themselves. We're all be making all sorts of mistakes. But the reason the salary caps exists is because the owners don't trust themselves to not be debauch. About competition against other rich guys, but I guess I kind of like it from this standpoint and as long as as I get Yankees, Red Sox, which forgetting this postseason you get the cubs, you get the dodgers. You get some of those teams that resonate nationally. I kinda liked that that you have these, you know, these big big market teams that everyone, you know, kinda has some feeling towards, right. And then you have a nice mix of the Braves and the Milwaukee Brewers, and you have that every single year. It seems like a major league baseball, whether a couple of teams you didn't expect, and they make it to the postseason everything that could win the World Series Raleigh now. But everything I just said is also true, which is the Red Sox. Yankees are about to play the biggest baseball series that we have seen in a little bit of time because it's specifically those two teams and because of how they're built. And because the Yankees are coming at you with stars at a time that the angels can't even make Mike trout star. They got these two giants in the middle of their lineup, and they're going up against one of the best baseball teams. Any of us has ever seen assembled there in Boston. Where you can make the Hanley Ramirez mistake, and then just go out and sign JD Martinez. To your point about Billy bean being afforded the the opportunity to make bus because that was totally sink his franchise Boston dot com to look back on the scene years and put a list together of his bus contracts. Carl Crawford j. d. drew John lackey dice que matc lament Edgar Renteria a blessing man. That's a hall of fame executive before the age of forty. But if you have the money to make all the mistakes and you're applying the Billy bean Oakland a.'s earned, suppose you're gonna have the huge advantage over the Oakland a.'s if you're doing it their way and have a giant money. I remember the contract, but Mike look at what Brian Cashman gave Jacoby ellsbury and they just make it go to Dan's point. He's right. They just make those mistakes go away. It was such a bad guy as can't do that. They literally can't afford it. It's a and that's I think that's part of the charm, though with baseball, you have this little engine the as what they get everything exactly right to get to get to the postseason. And then if they get there, they actually have a shot. I think you have the same thing like with the brewers. This year. I agree that everyone's got a shot in baseball and that's what sustains the business model. The randomness of the the postseason I agree with what you're saying. I'm just saying it's a pretty terrible thing. If you live in Kansas City and you can't keep it together because the Yankees and Red Sox save for a disaster, they will keep getting to the playoffs. Those teams were overwhelming last this last season in an overwhelming American League. They were man. What company games did the Red Sox end up winning? What was the number? Because at one point during the season, they were eighty five and thirty five and I think I can only I'm not even sure if the Mariners team that won like a buck fifteen started off like that. Eighty five and thirty five. The Red Sox for the entire season or one and fifty four. They were plus two twenty nine. You're talking baseball and you know, talking baseball yesterday Stephen a Smith, you know, he's at Yankee fan, so this is a natural time. Well, this is great that you're going to play this because stugatz called Billy. On the way home and he's like this sound, lock it up, put it in, put it in the freezer and break it out tomorrow..

"And that's what we're seeing, and as a consequence and apart because you know more proficient pitchers were seeing more home, runs more more strikeouts and and fewer basis. Well, the game, the game reward. Engineer witty. We, we saw that with branch Rickey more recently. We saw it with Billy bean and THEO Epstein. And even someone like Brian Cashman has learned on the job and is now one of the better front office men even Brian Cashman, even Brian Cashman has grown, is grown is grown. He has grown up as rolling my eyes and sidelong glances at Jason when you're attacking Mikhail. Heard so much about Derrick jeeter defense podcast. You are going to endorse Lawrence trucks for that four. That's really good. We're headed right now. Why can we not reward ingenuity? Let the game correct itself. Now, admittedly, three, two outcomes. Williams s Estra DO's emergence guy who doesn't strike out, doesn't refuses to walk and looks like a turtle. Notwithstanding he's one player. Three two outcomes are on the rise, but you know what they've been on the rise since you outcomes means the walk, the strike out the homerun three outcomes. It's been on the rise though since nineteen ten. Eighteen seventy one eighteen seventy the percentage of balls in play. I did a study on this two percent or Balsam play has been falling persistently in always in one direction all the way since the very beginning of the game. So to to to to put this thank you to to put this all on shifting most of it on shifting would be a mistake when if you if new stadiums were built with deeper alleys, everyone, why is it? Why is everyone bringing the fences in? We're, we're, it's, it's, there's instant gratification. Everyone wants to see the home run and then there are concerned because not everyone could hit the home run, but we're tempting them to hit the home run. So the idea is going to see what's going to happen perhaps over the over the next several years, high school players, college players, minor league players are going to learn to bunt against the shift bunt for Basit, and by the way they don't even have to bunt for a base hit. If there's no field in nearby, they can even square around for sacrifice and walk. The first base, some of the some of the players will be able to slap the ball the other way. But right now it is more valuable if you're going. If if it is if the mound is going to be sixty feet six inches or not pushed back, if the fences are going to be in, it is more valuable to have player's swinging for the fences and shifting is not going to this. This is what ESPN or someone, Michael, did it a good piece about interviewing players? Why they can't defeat the shift or they don't try to and it's because a single is just so much less valuable than a double single. You get three singles, someone could score, maybe not not even necessarily so. So I, I'm not sure we're going to see a lot of bunting a lot of slapping the ball, the other way when power is always going to be more valuable. And you know, we've, we've adjusted things like, you know, the height of the mound when the game has become less enjoyable. And this goes to whether the the game is supposed to be cast an amber. Which actually never really has been or whether it's there for for the enjoyment of of us the fence. So I think the the recent more recent rise in three true outcomes has been lamentable. I think it's it. I think the games have seemed more boring. There seems like there's less action in an appreciable way at the very beginning of what I thought was an era..

The Blue Jays decided of sooner would never play for them again, but Houston needed bullpen help. So they look the other way in the domestic violence and traded for Osuna. Sean Nukem, Turner and Josh Hader discussed on First and Last

"They sent many, many years ago. One of them almost had the crowning moment of his brief young career, Atlanta Braves, pitcher, Sean, nukem, nearly pitcher, no hitter against the dodgers yesterday came within a strike of throwing out of shutting out and no hitting the l. a. dodgers. But soon thereafter he was apologizing for tweets that were sent in two thousand eleven and two thousand twelve that were. Offensive. One tweet included a racial epithet. That was part of a rap lyric. Several others contained gay slurs. He spoke about his no hitter than he came back and issued a statement about the tweet, saying, quote, I just wanted to apologize for any insensitive material. It was a long time ago, six or seven years ago, saying some stupid stuff with friends. I know I've grown a lot since then. I didn't mean anything by it. It was just something stupid. I did a long time ago and I didn't mean anything by it for sure. This is very similar to the situation that brewers reliever, Josh Hader had to deal with the night of the all star game says MLB in a statement, quote, such inappropriate comments have no place in our game. We are aware of this serious issue. Billy Bean's going to meet with Mr. nukem this week, and we will identify an appropriate course of diversity training in the Atlanta community being as major league baseball, vice president for social responsibility and inclusion that Sean nukem. We also had Washington. National shortstop, trade Turner, who became the third major leaguer this month to have old embarrassing an offensive tweets resurface. These also day two thousand eleven two thousand twelve from when Turner was an eighteen year old. The tweets included a gay slur anti-gay comments and joke with racist undertones Turner on Sunday night issued a statement, saying quote, there are no excuses for my insensitive and offensive language on Twitter, Turner, like nukem is now twenty five years old saying quote, I am sincerely Sarli sincerely, sorry for those tweets. I apologize wholeheartedly. I believe people who know me understand those were credible actions do not reflect my values or who I am, but I understand the hurtful nature of such language. And I'm sorry to have brought any negative light to the nationals organization myself or the game. I love and his own statement, Mike Rizzo the GM of the national said Turner's tweets were quote inexcusable, but he also added Turner has quote, been a good teammate and model citizen in our clubhouse, and these comments are not indicative of how he's conducted. Himself while a part of our team Turner was second in the rookie of the year voting in two thousand sixteen hitting to sixty five with thirteen homers. This year old tweets were posted by Twitter user who cited earlier postings of old offensive tweets from Sean nukem. So we're back at this again right back to where we were a couple of weeks ago with Josh hater tweets, and it is a growing problem perhaps for major league baseball..

"Add some prospects those types of guys this is the Billy bean model you bring in middle tier lower tier relievers guys like. Hanrahan guys like John Thanks for guys who have been closers in the past maybe looking to resurrect their careers cost you almost nothing, you bring him in if they're excellent, and you're out of it you trade them you get. Yourself a couple of prospects Billy Bean's been. Doing that for years maybe something the giants? Wanna look, at maybe with the pitcher. Like Will Smith maybe with a, pitcher like Tony Watson though he's under team control for next year maybe with the Sam Dyson you start looking at, these bullpen arms who are some guys make it a little bit. Of money that you might be able to. To shell out to somebody else get a. Few prospects back, and maybe help yourself this off season, I really do. Think the giants were. Bank in big time on get Giancarlo Stanton I know that's sort of a forgotten story from this past, off season I really truly? Believe that's where they had put their? Money they put all their eggs in that basket I believe their. Backup plan for Giancarlo Stanton was well maybe next? Year we go we? Make a push Bryce? Since we won't have that money allocated now Bryce has got to be the focal point of, the future your franchise and your banking on a guy deciding to come, to your city if. That doesn't work I think you've. Got to blow it up, and you've got to, admit to the fan base Things did not go as planned this whole. Rehash of the the five the three and five trying to. Get these guys back to win a title. Maybe not as successful or Stephanie not as successful as, they. Had planned it right, now we're pretty much just happy it's not a ninety eight lost. Stephen Piscotty has emotional return to Oakland A's lineup following mother's death

"We all great talking to you guys thanks so allison we have some sad news this week in baseball stephen scotty was back at the oakland coliseum on tuesday night played in the game against the astros his mom gretchen scotty fifty five she died on sunday night complications of al s and the whole story of how stephen piscotty got from the saint louis cardinals after signing a six year thirty three million dollar extension to the bay area to be near his mom is i think one of the sweetest stories that we've had here in a long time now there's a business aspect to this i mean the the the cardinals were probably going to move stephen but when it came down to it john mosaic lack the cardinal's president baseball operations and billy being worked to deal and they wanted to work a deal they wanted to make it work billie wanted him on the west coast to be near his mom in her final days and steven one to be there and john mosaic took care of that and i just think it reflects so much on those two men mosaic lack and billy bean as as john said when he traded him this is a player of great character he understood he understood the cardinals culture and he's fitting in there and is just he you know to be back and play he's gonna take a bereavement leave at a different at another time but you know it was obviously a an emotional moment we have video of alex bregman giving him an ovation just to be back there but i think sometimes the best way to deal with grief i guess is to do normal things and that's what stephen scotty tried to do tuesday night at oakland coliseum yes i think that that for a lot of people i kind of misunderstanding when it comes to how we relate to people who have tremendous loss like that it gives say all you don't wanna talk to him in that you know you just leave alone and probably what that person do is go back to what they do what they know what they love.

"The world you reach your majorleague level you're in one of the most talented people in the world at uh uh at your profession and and you can throw to first base it it it is amazing and yet uh it's a foglia steel every time on him then no that's the thing for the most part nope baseball now it's part of the thing of baseball is that there aren't a lot of stolen base teams there aren't a lot at near stolen base has been totally devalued heck you know the money ball came out billy bean didn't want his guy stealing righty one wanted basically don't give away out some abass pass you've 27 outs and their their precious and how dare you you know try to steal base you pick up ninety feed it's not worth it and so you'd there's been a deemphasis of the stolen base in the game but you would think for a guy like lester who's got a wellknown phobia and now he's on a contending team wouldn't chile down three or four bunce a game and just make him either throw it down the rightfield line of myths it's a readymade triple right therapy throws it down the right candidates the he'll on her way they're not going to step off the mound in underhanded to second if the guys in a deep pit heathrow better to second thin he can first we have any here's and feel comfortable throwing dini that any any of the basis he doesn't feel comfortable found any the basis so he's basically his game plan is going to be unground balls backed him this year he's gonna throw it cui is going to get rid of it quickly but throw it in the dirt to and i you know i guess he's just afraid of air mailing rizzo rizzo knows it's coming so i guess that's part of the deal right is on the first baseman knows it's coming a major league first pastebin can pick the ball out of the dirt so she knows its common but man i can't believe that there hasn't been and there won't be teams the trips track torture john leicester a visit of see i am it's been out there after traffic lays a.

"Yeah and this is the the managers the the role of a manager is different now than it has ever been in terms of response the you know strange illustrates this and i often cite this but what you're talking about specifically is that movie money ball it's member art how i and brad pitt goes i can do this all day art and art how we refuse to listen to a member he had pain yet first space and in billy bean wanted hata at first base and art how refused to do it any billy being then traded pain yet and any came down to art allenton art i can do this all day you're going to institute my plan or you know i'm going to do something else in art how is gone at the end of that year so that is maybe what your what you're saying is true maybe this is maybe the manager now in major league baseball is simply a middleman jer in administrator more than anything else while the biggest thing he's got to do is he's gotta keep a happy clubhouse he's got gotta be great with people and dave roberts is fantastic with people he is fan i mean all the eye grains store eyes into the quote unquote process i got a great story that will illustrate that i'll tell it to you next mes is in houston cool i'm in la there is a laker game tonight by the way we just gave away a second row laker tickets to next friday's game tonight the lakers play the toronto raptors demar derozen back in town we'll have that came for you tonight live on espn la and then the lakers also play tomorrow night and mesa last but not least.
