"He's so good and so talented that he is a perfect three for three and a grade one winner as the two year old and today he looks to get back on track and proved he is still the real deal in the tenacious stakes at the fairgrounds. And that would be welcome news to jimmy bell. Who is the president of godolphin's. Us operations he is with me now here on the equine form jimmy. Good morning my friend always great to catch up. good morning. You enjoyed here that race call. It feels like we're we're back in action. You're back in action in a big way today. You know i went through earlier in the show. And i just kind of recap that very quickly there but this has been such an up and down career for max 'field and i can imagine this has to be one of the more frustrating scenarios that you've ever been involved with well frustrating. Yes but on the other hand It there's a sense of confidence because not too often nor around horse. it obviously shows that talented maximums. Had you know yourself breaking your first time out going right from there into a great one race And obviously another time out coming back and off the off the bench and in the runner race like that met win. So i mean he's in three races shown so much that Even though it's been a long time between races know which you always hope for. I don't think one thing. We don't question his talent and For that reason we're really optimistic and excited the same back in action and and more importantly as you earlier alluded The patients that everybody has shown this especially brendan and bringing him back and Hopefully we're we're looking for you know very productive for your season with a full body of work did can maybe show The talents of this this time and time again. So very very you know. We're very excited to be back in here. We are ready ready ready to run in the afternoon. You know jimmy. I come at this from the outside looking in. But you are obviously intimately involved with every move. That takes place with max field and i talked about earlier in the program. I talked about that training. Job that brenda did getting him. Back to the races after being scrapped from the breeders cup in two thousand nineteen the breeders cup juvenile. Getting him back for the matt win but not just back to the races getting him back and ready to fire his best shot after all that time. Off and overcoming that that initial injury. How good of a training job was that by brennan. Well i think i think he I think you hit on the head. I think his his whole card is tremendous patience. I think he reads his horses very well. He's the consummate horseman himself. So you know he. He's been both on their backs. And on the ground. And i think he's got an extra sense of of Communicating with horses. That he himself know get on him and he's got that feeling nose and He he really lets the horse sort of talk to him and tell him win and wear and We're on the phone just the other day and he said you know we're going to have to run. He's figured it out he's ready We know they're still probably few cobwebs a little bit rust on wheel but that was the case. Obviously in the win as well and You know it just takes. Probably a very very counted individual to be able to Not only physically be ready to run but mentally be ready to run and that's something we probably don't talk about all the time. It's the mental aspect as well and One of the one of mexico's greatest at tributes is mental toughness and just how he is so professional and how he goes about his daily routine. And i think it makes a little easier for brennan to read him because he's very genuine. He tells you right where he is and You know you you you've got to be able to be picking up on all those signs and and brennan does a phenomenal job at that. Take me through the past seven months. Since that win in the matt win at churchill jimmy what of these past seven months been like from ashville. Well again you know the good news is that neither neither one of the neither one of the timeouts were really you know truly significant. We just we did the right thing by the horse gave him ample time to completely He'll come back get back into his own rhythm. And i think that You know this this game is built on hope and and you know that if you just get the opportunity to get him back you'll take care of the rest of certainly that's are feeling and listen. Today's no easy. It's never an easy spot coming back You know you're in there with with a tough for us from Steve esme you gotta hours respect that. Then there's always the hard knocking older horses ourselves. Got a tougher locally owned So this is a great spot to come back in. But it's not easy spot but there's also no easy spots when you're out of conditions so you can't just exactly dip your toe in the shallow when you gotta jump in and see where you're at and you know we. This is the beginning this. Is you know this is. This is just what it is. This is hopefully beginning of an important Year racing for him. You were kind enough. Jimmy by the way talking with jimmy bell the president of godolphin's. Us operations you were kind enough to join me on this show. The morning of the matt win on may twenty third and one thing that you spoke about was his pedigree and he is a son of street. Sense out of a bernardini maher now. I know that that's a pedigree this near and dear to darley godolphin's heart but that pedigree bernardini has come an outstanding broodmare sire. What he's accomplished at his age is you know really puts him at the top of the chart of a broodmare hours. You know a long time to come. And i mean it's just amazing. You speak casually reading steak entries or the pp's on horse a much as another daughter bernardini. That's another daughter bernardini and You know what. What he's accomplished is is really a phenomenal. And you know how great it is to have a horse. It's going to pass them on. We always talk about sour sons of sizes hours in the mail on but To be able to carry on and make no mistake. His impact is brute mercer. We'll be significant for really really generations to come in and foundation for a lot of operations. Have those young bernardini mayors jimmy. The news came out this past week by the way. Good luck with max 'field later today. I'll shift gears on us here. The news came out earlier this week. That you were elected once again as president of the thoroughbred after care alliance and that's an organization that i know from day one has been near and dear to your heart Talk about the importance of after karen. This sports i. I don't know sometimes. I think that might get overlooked a little bit when we start talking about all the racing so tell me about the importance of aftercare. Well you know it. That's exactly you hit it right on the head you know initially for i think we started in two thousand and twelve Initially it was about just awareness. Awareness awareness making people aware of the after racing. And what goes on or just stop that day and so initially that the just.

"But once the real running began things were pretty straightforward posts favorite was Bella FINA. She needed to prove that that sort of debacle last fall in the Breeders Cup here at Churchill Downs was nothing more than an anomaly for her. She was the nine to five favorite in the spot. But there were alternatives. If you wanted to take shot against her you had the reigning Breeder's Cup, juvenile fillies champion jaywalk one at Churchill Downs at a very nice price of six to one yet. Like restless writer who sure the post position was not ideal. But she seemed like she was coming up to this on a big effort. There looked like there was a ton of speed signed on alternate -ly not how the race played out. Let's take a look at the results Sarah giddy. Empress gate to wire gets the job done at odds of thirteen to one a visually. Impressive. Forms giving the fraction she laid out a little bit peculiar that. There was no other speed that went with her. But maybe she just that good. And she certainly loves Churchill Downs leader with a giant effort for Wayne Catalano hats off to win out along thirty eight to one I never anticipated this effort coming from her. I still think she'll be better going shorter. But big effort from aura at thirty two one two run second lady, apple or that. I picked in here. I thought she ran she ran her race. She tried just not quite good enough for those top two. She runs third at odds of ten to one take a look at Sarah and getting empress she's five eight lifetime. Those are the only five times that she is finished in the money of she is a millionaire now she's owned by Joe police trained by Tom Amos bread by trite Equis bloodstock LLC in Kentucky victory by Jose Ortiz and see the pedigree bottom the horse card. She's by alternation out of Bernardini Maher inhabits him eight Beyer speed figure. One fourteen time form US rating. One ten is far as the non pace adjusted numbers concerned, you see the fractions. Time form US color-coded the half three quarter in the mile Paul's all of them read, you take a look at the fractions twenty three and one forty six three eleven in one for three quarters thirty six and three for the mile one fifty the final time, look again, it was just an instance where if you handicap the race I expected any motion motion to go expect some other horses to be relatively close stunned far back Bella FINA was early. And all of a sudden when the pace didn't materialize and grid. I'm not taking the way from certain get angry. She went fast to get to that position. But boy when she went out there and was able to wing it on the front end going to be very difficult to run her down, especially at Churchill Downs credit. Tom Amos great training job, especially considering the fact that she bled in that fairgrounds oaks and to get her back and ready for an effort like this. This is a big effort. I don't know how I feel about the field as a whole because eight that Seren Getty empress earned from a buyer standpoint, an eighty five lire earned their solid if not, you know, they're unspectacular. There's a chasm of drop off though for the rest Leopoulos seventy seven champagne anyone seventy seven Bill FINA. Seventy six. Looking at a number of horses that earned more than half the field that earned a sub seventy Beyer speed figure. I don't know how that sort of. I don't know what that means going forward other than I think this this division could be ripe for a an up and comer perhaps a horse that didn't get into the race like Dunbar road for Chad Brown. But I do think there is going to be an instance where some of these horses will improve doing different things I would love to see as well as she ran here..

"And now moves to the me along the lady Kate but point of honor in front impressively under heavier Castellano by whitening three lady. Tape was second three Diane third winning envelope. Plans out to be fourth running time on the board. Thirty nine point seventy eight. Well, lady Kate ran a terrific race and all the heavy lifting there and acquitted herself fine a point of honour, very very judiciously ridden and made the last then the right move, very patient havi or Castellano all fame type ride well back to you at five to two. You didn't hear some cheers though, because of the mandatory race that was but point of honour seems like the real deal very different trips for the top two though point of on her dead last early on just kind of waiting and her time. You're right about lady case, she seems handy. She listens to the writer Jose or TS astronaut once but twice you to moves in that race. And those two I thought dominated in both are going to be probably stakes type Phillies down the line as well. Well, lady took some late money. She took some late action. She got down to three to one into three to one people. Maybe had an inkling that it was going to be a forward trip in a race that I didn't think. Paper was going to set up for one to come from last. But that's how good point of honor was to get the money in that race attempt. Just so sprint debut stevia lady. Kate first time at shipping first time routing like just a second lifetime start. I'm impressed with both the winner and the runner up. I think they're going to be very nice. There was one thing. I haven't mentioned as part of the steak sequence. The fact that Owen hardy who course has got lady Kate. He ended up scratching the other Godolphin out of the say of Davis cave run who was another of a very similar vein was going to be finally getting that chance to go to turns know, he had to get overhauled by win win win in the Pasco. And they're going to wait for something else. Be interesting to see what they do at. Of course, they the Godolphin team is well represented in here with Kentucky wildcat who is sort of the male equivalent of point of honor. While look point of honor. I look at it. Philly by curling out of Bernardini Maher thing. The birther the better she debuted going to turns in one and the further the better, boy, I'll tell you what she she looks like a budding superstar off that win and you don't get any breakage whatsoever. Seven dollars for a five six to one morning, George Weaver does such a good job the greatest underrated. I think I think you're guys are probably right. There's a bright. There's a bright future here and a pedigree. That says the longer the better. Well, of course, there's a pretty good Philly three year old that's going to run in about three minutes at Santa Anita. And she's one to nine as play, isn't it back? I'm all over that. She's hard to it's hard to stand in your way. I think it's one to tell you what there might be some people out there that want me to go to the window and better though, because the weight of my ticket sometimes could stop a train trying to upset. I'll tell you what let me put some money on it. See what happens? Let's get. Let's get over to Akwa duck AC and pick up John Brielle with the call of the Wingfield at the stake there, which has got a nice little group seconds Joe via has come on through now to grab the lead Joe via by a head gates Donna's right there on the outside and second with tcb flew the favourite in third comes direct order in fourth. Forgiveness. Not permission forgiveness. Not permission fifth seconds. It's still Joe via the one to catch. Here. Haikal is gaining ground down at the rail teak VIN. Flu is asked for more as the field comes off the turn and enters the stretch Tepe influence now coming up on the outside of Jovi..

"I believe all but one start of career, and and he's like him all along we like even the beginning. We had him in Ellis Park. He was heavily bet first time, and we thought, you know, he he was a nice Colt, and he'd get better going around two turns probably didn't show much early in his races. As we we would avoid liked or were looking for really thought he could training well enough to where you can win first time out not that he had to. But did take him a little while to figure things out. I think he's just kind of started to figure out to back there the fairgrounds. He was beaten by Mike trainee. Very nice course, he showed a lot of fight that day that horse got the better of us that day, and then come back and responded wellness I level while last week, and he did come out of shrimp. Well, looks great. I think we're gonna point for the risen star there at the fairgrounds, and it's gonna be it's gonna be a tough races long as that horse of marquess will will or. Believe the different co he's very short. So kind of see how things pan out over the next few weeks. This is a two hundred thousand dollars Keeneland yearling into mischief out of Bernardini mayor that Barbara BankE and the Stonestreet team bread Rupp racing. Give us a give us a little bit about racing. It's a fella named Jim Rupp out of Michigan. Very very nice guy. We've had horses together now for five years, and he's he's been in on some yearlings we've purchased and he thought about this cult on his own with the help of Mike Ryan. And you know, they they. Plucked him out of the chemo and September. So as a yearly in he's been a nice, the big nice horse Nile Brennan broke him did a fabulous job within he's a very well mannered horse. He's out of Bernardini Maher, you know, distance really shouldn't be an issues a big strong horse cover some ground. And he just, you know, some told me back with church show when he wrote him in the fall, you know, this isn't figured it out yet. And he said he stayed on. He he doesn't get tired. So, you know, he he's I think there's some room for improvement, and you know, with with what we're gonna expect out of him over the next few months. He will need them prove he's gonna have to step up, and hopefully, he healed he's capable of doing it. Well, let's talk for a minute because there's there's a couple of lessons here and there, and this horse is actually a poster a poster boy that flies in the face of. Of any number of the old wives tales number one. It's January of his three year old year. This was his sixth start. So let's see oh horses. Don't run that. We we don't. We don't run the two year olds. Like, oh, well, except for this one that ran five times a to. Let's see a horse got the three straight fifty buyers at Ellis Park in Indiana. Oh, he must not be any good. Let's dump. Let's drop him. There's just so many things about the patients that that you and Rupp showed with this horse that you believe in his ability. He also comes out of now two different key races. Because that race at L is with Mr. Anchen, the Dale Romans all horse that also produce Mr. money and others. And then he actually banged heads with tack it in the allowance on that big Saturday before Christmas on super Saturday, Santho whatever at at fair grounds. So the patients you showed after this horse got a fifty three fifty eight fifty nine buyer breaking his maiden and a sixty two buyer a lot of people would would be panic stricken that oh my God. He he's he's going nowhere. No. Yeah. You can certainly believe that looking at the form that you know. Hey, just just a horse, but he's a horse kept getting positive feedback from him. Like, I said earlier with Sean, you know, told me November Churchill so this this..

"Rounding this horse on the outside. He's on his left. Lied left lied. You're gonna see just when he comes into pictures to front right there. He pops his right lead. Now that alone is bad enough. He's going to set source down von? John Velazquez aboard. And right now, it looks like he's home free. He's going to go on with it. There was a little bit of a bump right there between he and three horse. Now, you're gonna see him hop to his left lied and have his head cocked out to the grandstand. This horse has no idea what he's doing at this point. So I can look at one or two ways and say he got by on talent alone. Which is nothing to sneeze it. I'd rather have some talent and be a little bit on the immature side, then just be professional and not be able to run. But at the same time when it comes from a barn like this. You can see the gal that was decent enough. Nothing spectacular. When it comes from a barn like this. I they are usually so professional, and they usually do everything right. I'm not saying this horse won't be more mature second time around whether he runs here or he runs over a Gulfstream. But it is just one of those things again at a shortage price, given the connections. I don't know if I love that. I I like to see a combination of the two I think the horse like this. You're looking at them saying they're raw, and they can who knows. What the ceiling is. But they are going to be a little bit of a work in progress. And when it comes down to strictly just a gambling standpoint in this race alone on Saturday, if he runs here, I don't know that that's something that I'd like to gamble on. I think he comes down from his four to one if he runs here, and look, maybe he's the horse with the most upside going forward, but he's just a little bit on the green side. I think he needs to learn a little bit before I really go buying in at odds of four to one and move over to the number four win win win. Now win win win might be the most likely winner this race in my opinion. You can see he has speed figures to his name already. The most recent run at seven of a mile and eighty six the highest last out buyer in the field highest last out raw time foam rating over here with a one zero eight the run to starts back is first time against winners. The eighty three buyer the one third teen raw time form rating kittens considering his first start against winters, and he goes off a basically spread eagles that feel the often wins by more than six links. This is solid enough effort one that made him deserve to be an even money favourite in the seventeenth stakes race. Here you'll note that in the run to starts back defeated a next winter the fifty seven buyer the second and third place finishers both are in sixty nine. So in the grand scheme of things this horses is already done some some solid enough running. Now, we come up here to his most recent starting to keep an eye on this to slot right here this to post the plant live, oh plantation silks the red cap with the white body. He's going to be slow into stride as you can see here, and then up here, you can see spots that feel the good two or three maybe even four lengths when it's all said and done he's going to trail behind for the most part. But I like what the writer Pimentel did get them out into the clear tries to get him to relax. A little bit time form US has the internal split the middle fraction this race color coded blue. So when you're coming from dead last like this, probably not the easiest thing. Now, we're gonna fast forward a little bit here because this is really when he starts to pick it up. I like what this horse does right now, he's still relatively lightly racing grand scheme of things he's not afraid to go between horses. You can see the horse. And the blue silks on the inside with the maroon and white socks on the outside this horse when we'll split the two of them angled down here to the inside. And I like the fact that right now it looks like he's got a full head of steam. He's going to go along with keep in mind, though, the horse that's been out there on the front and setting those fractions five to two we ease a choice in here is one of the horses that supposed to run. Well, they turned for home. It has long been documented that inside at laurel probably not where you wanna be. I also don't think this is the most comfortable sort of trip for a horse like this, given this is really his first time quality competition may be second timing is winners. But he's down hemmed on the inside by the source on the outside. That's not the most comfortable of positions to be. I'm giving him bonus points for splitting horses on the far turn. And I'm not gonna hold this against him. The fact that he couldn't go and get that pacesetter who was meant in this race. He was bed down any came. Oh, he had overcome a slow start hit overcome slow pace as you can see by this piece right here. I thought this is a big effort to me. He's one of the more likely if not the most likely winner this. Race. I don't know that there's a ton of speed in this race. But I think there's nothing here to set it up for a horse like win win win five to two. I'm not gonna argue with anyone that uses this horse war bridle I like this horses race right here at Tampa. This is first start in. What about six months almost I start from new connections? I thought he did a lot really well goes off with more than seven likes the concern. I have look at the field. It was decent enough the runner up sixty three the third place finisher next winter where the fifty one concern is he's just slow compared to some of these other horses. He's going to need to improve leaps and bounds. I already had this horse in a DR horse watch. And I was hoping he would just show up in a bit of a software spot. I understand why the connections wanna take chance here. I think he's overmatched the Sixers gladiator king and this horse. Most recently ran in the Muccio macho man he was no match for me host. He was no match for trophy chaser. These are nice horses very talented horses. I'm not gonna hold that against him. He was fifty seven to one set fast. Fractions faded to starts back in the. Inaugural here at Tampa. He got the job done by open links, you'll know debt the dirt horses that he ran into in the next start. They came back, and they really haven't flattered that phone the fifth-place finisher with fifty to the runner up came back earn eleven third place. Finisher wasn't next winter on grass, albeit was seventy three buyer, but the big piece right here. I don't like that came over a sloppy sealed track. That's always something that gives me a little bit of concern. You'll note this Rhames in three starts back. He was no match for good horses again Maximus mischief network effect. And then you go back to this run on turf. This is where he was really it seemed like he was going to excel and end up being grass horse. I still think ultimately that's where you'll end up. But again, I'm not gonna fault the connections for taking a chance with three year old early on. While you still think that you've got an opportunity. I don't love his chances in here, but he should show some speak that brings us to the outside run the number seven cave run for oh. And hardy now I just talked about sloppy sealed tracks how I usually don't like to see emphatic wins. I out or early on over those sort of things just because I think that very diff. Cult to gauge was it truly as good as it looked or was it aided by the fact that this horse. Probably didn't didn't hate it. While some of the other horses may have had issues with it. This also goes for the other big three year old race on Saturday. The LECOPs the horse that I like in their marquess runner ward, a win award a win or window war. Whatever his name is. I can't remember off my head his big win came oversaw sealed track. I loved everything about that horse the way that he did it. But look if it ends up being a fast main strip he's going to have to prove that he can do that same sort of thing that he did at Churchill Downs over the fairgrounds main track the same goes for cave run in this race. I loved everything about this race highest last out buyer in the field of eighty six call is anyway along with win win win the one oh five raw number for day. Do I thought was solid the eighth place finisher in that race came back earn to sixty three buyer, and you're going to take a look at this replay here. He's in the familiar Godolphin silks here on the outside. There was not a ton of pace in this race time. From US had the internal fractions color-coded blue. So he's got to go and get into it a little bit early on. And she's gonna range right up on the outside love that he's getting pushed on a little bit. But we're not talking about an all out drive. I like for the most part gin. This is the first time starter like the way that he's doing it here. You're gonna see a little bit of a bump as they come off this far term between he and the number one horse, and I I have to admit I kinda like the fact right there. There's a little bit of a bump kind of like the fact that didn't bother this horse whatsoever. He changes leads professionally he gets it with the stick a few times. And he just draws off. I love the way that he finishes here really extends down the lane. I really have no Knox about this race. The only concern is how you gonna handle winners for the first time. I love the gal about the additional distance. I don't think it's going to be an issue for them. See the pedigree of face value street cents out of Bernardini Maher in the grand scheme of things I liked everything about it. Now again, it's a sloppy sealed track. Who knows how that's going to end up. Ultimately playing out was he just? Of the appreciate that more than the other horses. Did whatever the case may be I really couldn't find anything to fall with that effort. He also have this little formulator factory here for own Artie pass five years winner last out that was a maiden second time starter in sprint races three for six five in the money with a six forty six our lie, basically here, I am showing you my hand I like this horse. I liked cave. Ron I thought that was a good effort and to me it was good enough to get the job done in a race like this. If he runs that race back or he improves slightly. I think he can get the job done. I love the outside draw form, I think you can play the break. Let the speeds to the inside go come when your run it's going to be faster pace than that. Most recent run for you was to me, it's a it's a cold seven four or a four seven. Maybe I would box it or obviously, wait accordingly. Seven four four seven for me. I think cave run and win win win. Those are the two horses for me. I threw Pletcher source in third. I think he's green grass the runs here. I just gonna need to be. Of a lot more professional, perhaps he's the one of the most upside going forward, but I this point right now, I like everything I saw from cave run. And I like everything I've seen from win win to me at seven four in the seventh at Tampa on Saturday. The Pasco stakes seven four exact four seven may be back it up for a saver so cave run from me there. Hopefully, this gives you some ideas, maybe like some stuff, maybe you don't like stuff. Let's roll it in championship weekend in the NFL AFC NFC championship games to slots on the line for the Super Bowl. Championship week is here for the NFL. And if C title game is first title game is second both of them coming on Sunday down to the nitty gritty two spots for the Super Bowl on the line last week a little bit of a mixed bag for me as far as the wagering is concerned patriots come through disappointing on a couple of those games, though. Where look at it and say, you know, what the saints. If let's makes that field goal at the end, you get over the number the chiefs game, I was just entirely wrong about because I didn't think the colts have forget to show up and play and their game that was a little bit disappointing. And as far as the Rams and Cowboys game is concerned. Again. It was a matter of one point being the difference tuna push into points being the difference for between getting the job done. So obviously it's been a bit of a rough stretch here. But at the same time, I'm taking I'm taking solace going into these games that it's right there, and it's a one break here there. I said at the beginning of the postseason. I thought he's supposed to postseason very difficult. To gauge as far as who's actually good who's going to perform well who's going to get through ultima. It's been very very formal. And some of these games. Like, I said they just to me been going flips either way as far as the spread is concerned. Hopefully this weekend is okay. And maybe we can gather some momentum. I know next week is the off week between the championship games in the Super Bowl. But there will be other things. It'd be other games out there to be to be had so kick things off with the NFC title games. The Rams at the saints the saints lane three points. The saints flip first half last week. It really looked into the first half the first quarter. It looked like there was a real scenario where the eagles are just going to go and blow doors off which just seems so so but at the same time New Orleans for the let's call it the last last quarter of the year. It's not like they were going out there and waxing teams, basically they rested everyone the final week of the regular season knowing that they had a bye week the following week. So many ways they had two weeks off couple of weeks prior. They had absolutely bear games. Just nothing was really flown along. And then they come out basically sleepwalking in that first quarter of the game last week against Philadelphia. Took him a little while to get the engine cooking.
