Kelvin Cochran Reminisces About His Childhood Dream to Become a Firefighter

"So Kelvin Cochran, the new book is called facing the fire. The faith that brought America's far cheek through the flames of persecution talk about that. Were you raised in the faith? Did you grow up in the Atlanta area? No, I grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana, Eric, and then early 1960s. I was one of those American kids that had 5 years old. There was a fire across the alley that we lived in Shreveport, Louisiana, one Sunday after church. The Shreveport firefighters showed up. And when I watched those firefighters that day, Eric, I was smitten. And I looked at my mom and my brothers and sisters and said, I want to be a firefighter when I grow up. And we were taught as kids that in our country, if you believe in and have faith in God, go to school and get a good education that if we respect the grown-ups and treated other people like we want it to be treated that all of our dreams would come true. And that's the faith that was foundational to my whole life dreams and God used that those truths to make all of my dreams come true. That was back in the days before we all realized that white supremacy makes it impossible for somebody like you to accomplish anything. Here's how to get that in parenthetically. So somehow you because you believed in God because you believed in the American Dream, your dream came true. And I just want to say, you know, when I found out you were the fire chief of all of Atlanta. This is a huge city. You were commended by the president of the United States. Who was it at the time? I can't remember. President Barack Obama? Not ring any bells. Was he president? So you were commended by him. So you're at the top of your game in every

Andrea Mitchell Falsifies 2000 GOP Convention Memory About Colin Powell

"MRC news busters Kyle dren and Andrew Mitchell falsely claims the Republican Party booed palate to 2000 convention As news broke Monday morning of the passing of former Secretary of State and joint chiefs chairman Colin Powell and NBC's Today Show Adrian Mitchell jumped at the chance to exploit his death to bash Republicans But in her ghoulish rush to do so she got her facts wrong when she falsely claimed he was booed at the 2000 GOP national convention She said I was on the floor of the convention in 2000 and fled off and when Republicans booed him She even went so far as to argue that moment began the late general shift of the Democrat party years later She said but he just stood out from his Republican Party even back in 2000 at the convention for speaking up for black rights and eventually did endorse Barack Obama as you know Later on 12 p.m. MSNBC show Mitchell recalled what supposedly upset the GOP crowd She said I remember being on the floor of the convention the GOP convention in Philadelphia in 2000 He was booed from the floor because he spoke about affirmative action She declared again and that was the beginning of a public break you know internally for him with the Republican Party Mitchell then finally remembered quote and so the endorsement will meet the press with Tom broke on 2008 a Barack Obama the black candidate was such a momentous occasion in politics By the way I was at that convention And I don't remember any booing and I was right Despite Mitchell's unchallenged assertions about how being derided by Republicans in 2000 An examination of C-SPAN's coverage of the GOP convention that year does not show him being booed at all In fact during the passage of his speech dealing with affirmative action which Mitchell specifically cited only cheers and applause were heard The footage shown on screen displayed people on the convention floor celebrated pal speech Perhaps Mitchell heard a small smattering of booze from her spot in the convention hall while covering the event

Terry McAuliffe Struggles to Shore up Democrat Base

"We've got a couple of minutes here to talk about what's going on in the gubernatorial race in Virginia, where Glen youngkin is going up against former governor Terry mcauliffe and, you know, this is an interesting race. It's remained close. I intending to think I'm a little optimistic about this, but of course, Virginia is a fairly blue state these days. Cam you're a virginian. What's going on there? It does young can have a chance here. Yes, I think you can absolutely have this chance. I think the Democrats are very, very concerned. As you say, Virginia has been trending blue, but this is about as optimal a scenario for Republicans as you can find. Democrats have nominated. I think a pretty unpopular guy and certainly a very uninspiring candidate who is not being helped by Joe Biden is dragging him down. Like all of even said that by design popular in Virginia and yet Biden is going to be coming to campaign with Terry mccoll between now and election day. But, you know, Miguel has also bringing in Barack Obama. He's bringing in Stacey Abrams to campaign for him Ed, which tells me that was less than three weeks now before election day. McCollum is still worried about shoring up his base, he's not even hoping right now to try to attract those moderate or independent voters. He's still trying to get black Democrats in Virginia to show up and vote for him because there's a third party candidate on the ballot for instance blanding. Who is running as deliberation party candidates is the first black female to be on the ballot for governor in Virginia. She is very strongly connected to the social justice movement. She's running to the call of left. And I think the mcauliffe is absolutely terrified that she's been able to peel away three four maybe even 5% of the vote both that would have gone to him. And that may be enough, along with what I think has been a pretty good campaign run by when young that might be enough to put junk in an office.

Biden Special Envoy Warns US Must 'Prepare' for Fully Nuclear Iran

"States. Doctor oran, welcome back great to talk to you again, sir. Good to talk to you. Big story coming from the Washington free Beacon. I know that this is something that's gotten a lot of attention in Israel has gotten next to none here in the United States. Adam credo reporting yesterday that U.S. Iran envoy Robert malley, whose name is very familiar to those of us who follow these things, says that the Biden administration is preparing for, quote, a world where Iran doesn't have constraints on its nuclear program. Comments that show how little progress has been made in negotiation with Tehran regarding a return to the JCPOA the 2015 Barack Obama ran deal. Doctor Oren, I mean, if that deal had remained in place, we'd still be dealing with in Iran didn't have any constraints on its nuclear weapons program. I mean, I think that that's one thing that should be said right off the bat. That deal wasn't going to prevent Iran from creating nuclear weapons. It only it only had a ten year pause in it, maybe. And that's only if you believed Iran was complying with it. Yes, that's true. It was ultimately going to his line was ultimately going to have an unlimited nuclear program. The big difference was that while it restrained itself somewhat, and some aspects of the program, just on the nuclear enrichment, not a missile development, not on the development of advanced centrifuges, not on developer warheads, didn't do anything about any of that. But when I was going to get paid a 100 billions of dollars that it wasn't going to spend on schools and hospitals, you can believe that. I think the major thing that rob valley is saying, believe it or not is the truth and the truth that has been around for a long time. I've been talking about on these really news. And that is the United States is willing to coexist with an Iran that has threshold capacity. I mean, the ability is created a bomb within a matter of weeks, because you've been a matter of days. Among the professionals, if referred to as Japan like capabilities, there's Japan has that capability, but of course, you can't threaten to wipe anybody off the map or is not supporting financial payers. US Rep. John Yarmuth to Retire From Congress

"Biggest news story yesterday that you don't know is a huge news story is this. John yarmouth is quitting. Now you don't know who congressman John yarmouth is, and thus you happen to be listening to me in Kentucky. He is represented Louisville for a long time. And he is quitting. He is also the chairman of the budget. Committee. So he actually had a big job. Why is he quitting? Because there is a tsunami coming. The Democrats have gotten everybody mad at them in record time. Joe Biden's numbers are slipping under the 44% approval number. The big news yesterday is that Terry mcauliffe is going down with the Biden ship, reached out desperately and asked, you know, he has to come campaign for him. Not the president of the United States. The former president of the United States Barack Obama. Barack Obama is going to show up, but I hate to break it the Democrats, you still like him I know, but he's not the crowd generator and he's not the enthusiasm manufacturer that he used to be, and you can't stop people like John yarmouth from saying, I'm done here. And you know why the Democrats are not quitting? All the Democrats in Congress are saying, no Mas no Mas. It's not just because of redistricting and Joe Biden's unpopularity. They all need a job when they lose. In the 2010 election. After the ObamaCare fiasco, which is not as big as the fiasco of the Biden spending. It's one third the fiasco of the bidens. When the American people don't like to spend money they don't have money that they're borrowing. You have any Democrats lost in 2010, 63. 63. That meant 63 Democrats looking for jobs in Washington D.C. and John yarmouth is smart and says, you know, I'm going to go find a job before I lose. I'm not going to get bailed out of time with everybody else on a red tide. I'm getting out of here. So that's a tell.

"Know that the state the regime is trying to break the bond between parents and children that parents concern and questioning of the indoctrination of their kids is now being met with a full fledged response from the state. We can keep on building that out as we dive deeper into that as we build out all the specifics there but instead i want to tell you what's really going on here and it's really fun kind of going back and forth with the great one mark levin on this because we saw it exactly the same. This is a preempt a preemptive move by the regime to try and stop any sort of semblance of a legitimate and authentic tea party two point. Oh movement the tea party back. In two thousand nine two thousand ten was a legitimate grassroots response to the massive overreach of the obama regime. The tea party movement could not be controlled. Many members of congress were elected in the tea party movement. That are still in congress. Today including marco rubio and many others democrats were largely displaced from power and republicans. Look back the house for the first time in many years and did so decisively against the popularity and the power of barack obama one of the reasons why the left has been so forceful in their propaganda and their prosecution of january six. Is they want to try to keep people at home.

Tired of it too. We do not have the ability to fight a long war. Even with minimal casualties be because for us. There is no such thing as a minimal casualty. We can take station troops on board. Left Media Uses the 'Republican Pounce' Story to Cover Democrat Scandals

"The podcast. What do Republicans pounce stories? Well this mark Milley, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Democrat Media Military Complex story is extremely devastating. It's extremely devastating because it's not hard to understand the problem in it with some scandals as they're very difficult to understand that that's why the Benghazi scandal for the Democrats, they ran from it so quickly because it was easy to understand. Our guys were left behind in Benghazi by Barack Obama and they got killed like it's not hard to understand. You can play all the euphemisms games you want, but it's not a complicated scandal. Understand there is some scandals like you know, the A P. Phone records scandal. You're like what What do you do exactly? Did they get the phone records and they get was a journalist. What was the story about? You know, it's not particularly complicated, but it's not that easy to understand, either. It's kind of a you got to read about it a little bit. Benghazi was easy to understand. This is an easy story to understand, And that's why it's got the Democrats running around. Like a chicken with her head cut off. Because they don't know what to do. They clearly conspired with our military. To engage in a coup. Clearly, that's that's cliff. The story's accurate as reported. I haven't seen any strong denials about this at all. Then they clearly engaged in a coup Nancy Pelosi and probably other Democrats, too. So, of course, the media has to jump in and make the story not about the Democrats, so they do Republicans pound story Republicans Pound stories are when the media starts focusing not on the scandal that the Democrats are involved in right now. Pelosi's coup Pelosi's coup. That's right, say it over and over again. Nancy Pelosi is cool, but they focus on the Republicans response. To the scandal. It's a convenient way to

There's lots of folks saying that itself should trigger some kind of ethics investigation that it itself violate certain codes of conduct reaction to seeing. I think it's worse an ethics violation Mccarthy essentially did is something that i've been calling autocratic capture which is when authoritarian government actors. I went on vacation for my birthday instead of posting an extended multimedia presentation on the internet and or hosting a giant party at my home on his maker though in the latter case. It's only because. I do not own a home on. Martha's vineyard if you did you would you would. Oh my god. There's so many things about barack obama's sixtieth birthday that we're going to discuss. We are also going to discuss. Roger federer's fortieth nagging marcos fortieth ambience as upcoming forty s. There's so many birthdays yes How's it feel to be in the same sign is all these people probably except yeah beyond virgo. But we're we're putting her into this birthday week because she's on the cover of harper's bazaar in basically celebration of her fortieth birthday is the that's the peg and she's speaking about what she wants for her her her fortieth year her fourth decade so accounts as milestone birthday. And it's milestone birthday her fifth decade for. Yes thank you. i'm i'm really not good. Accounting can question. Yeah do do you think we're getting all this birthday content because of the absence of other events and like other things happening so i wanna start this podcast up off with theory we've found for the most part find celebrities aftershock about but right now in this moment unless it's your birthday unless there's like a chronological calendar oriented reason for you to be in the news and we'll talk about it if you are in the news right now. You're losing he's like this. Is the silly season. This is the worst time this is suckers only in the celebrity space and things are gonna go bad really quickly like if you are a celebrity really any type of person but certainly a celebrity. And it's really. I would say all of august's you need to go on vacation. You need to not be in the headlines because otherwise it is a a wasteland and there's nothing positive happening and people are mad to be even matter than usual to be on the internet and whatever you're trying to spin is going to go really really wrong it just is gonna go terribly if is like you know what august there's an opening like maybe we'll get extra attention thiry publicists. Your publicist doesn't know what's going on. You got to stay out of the news. So i guess these people are doing us a favor because we need content and things talk about and also it is leo season. I'm a fan of season. I really like you know everyone involved in this. What are what are the hallmarks of eleo itself involvement. And i i i i actually. I don't really know. Besides me being told regularly that i am very much. Leo is interesting situations. That seem to insinuate that it has something to do with making it all about you Which i guess is another theme of all of these birthday celebrations including beyond say who's a virgo and reverence is being a virgo interview. And i think a sign of being a leo is not having any idea what any of the other signs me and so i have no idea what it means for virgo but she i don't either i don't know i don't know what any signed means is that i am on the cusp of aquarius pisces. That's all i know. i'm aquarius though. Okay yeah i was just thinking like there's not a ton of other stuff going on in most of the other stuff is like litigious and really dark and you know it's it's the dog days of summer as they say right although as you reminded me yesterday. There's still plenty of summer left. Yes i was reminded by hildebrand via instagram. Which limited you say another thing. I haven't been a great reader this summer. Guys i i love books. Love the written word. I've let myself down. I've let the written word. Now come on into accent. I feel like i've let other listeners down because they do. I hear people from time time. Send very nice notes being like. Are you guys going to do a book ground up. And i think that's great but like i personally just have done my homework. But i do downhill brands new novel on vacation. And if you are looking for an l. hildebrand novel to read vacation can't recommend it enough and she says still plenty of summer left. Yeah plenty of summer left okay. Maybe someone will read that. Let's into the birthdays. We're gonna start with the oldest. That will be president. Barack obama who had sixtieth birthday party. On martha's vineyard over the weekend there was a lot of build up to it. There was a lot of conversation about how the delta variant would or would not affect the party a few days before it came out that some people have been uninvited and then the party happened. It's still seem like there. Were quite a few people. There was a part of the daily mail a really bad traffic jam and additionally There were some illicit photos and videos that made their way out of the event due to air kobe. Do the dj who posted to instagram. Before they were taken down so most of the information we have about this is from The daily mail like stocking people in martha's vineyard right. They are there on boats outside the radius they end. The daily mail did note that there was a no fly over zone over. Martha's over the home which they insinuated was established for the purposes of this party and might be true but also barack obama is former president of the united states. You all the time right. I know flyers. Yeah i would assume that at no point are you allowed to fly over the home of the former president of the united states anyway.

"Welcome welcome welcome. Armchair expert is now only on spotify but we had to share a clip of our episode with our dream guests. Brock obama or as monica says one sexy cat foxy beast. We love this conversation. Most specifically i love this moment where he started kind of bragging about his basketball. It was so endearing like if most people bragged about that. It'd be put off by it. But i just loved it. It also has made them really human. Yes he's like. I hit the big shots. We also hope you'll listen to the full episode which is available on spotify in case. You've missed the news. We've moved spotify so you can listen to old and new episodes of armchair expert there. It's one hundred percent free and the show a stain. Exactly the same now. Here is a bit of that conversation with president. Barack obama so we got to bring this out. If you're anything like me. I don't wanna be recognized for any of the things i'm good at. I actually just wanna be recognized for these things. I wish i was great at so knowing you love. Basketball was the greatest moment of your whole life on the campaign trail with by binds. And you picked up the ball and just drained three just so casually and then it made the rounds on all the outlets. Was that your greatest moment. Well at the risk of not of sounding artificially humble. I mean the truth is that i had hit some shots like that before. Okay okay so the first time. I campaigned. I took my first foreign trip. And we went to afghanistan and iraq and before going into iraq we staged at kuwait. And i walked into a gym with like three thousand troops in shirtsleeves and one of the soldiers tossed me a basketball and said. Let's see your jumper and cnn was recording. It and there was nothing but net brother. Maybe oh baby. So you've been down this road before okay. This was not a unique moment. I hit the big shots. That's what i do. Like jordan and north carolina jordan in north carolina. Yeah we got an a big. We got in a fight. I was critical of you. Like you can't look that cool. While you're trying to help your buddy biden. And then biden was he had to go. Like great shot. And i was better rennes buddies. Now he was basically on a date. He was on a date in front of his dream girl. And you did that. No less the you know the best part of that shot was if you go back and you look at the video. There's a young woman in a mask who's under the basket and she's the one who gave me the pass. Yeah that is joe biden's granddaughter. Maisy biden who was. One of sasha's best friends and still is growing up to the same school and. I coached those girls when i was president. The vipers in their fourth grade rec league team and maisy was like the lebron the league. I mean she died. She was great. You know and we went undefeated. The vipers ruled so things went full circle part of the reason. Joe didn't mind was because his granddaughter. She got an assist. She got the assist. You dropped he did she. Put it right in your hands. It was right there. I'll add to do just finish..

"Of fatherly and the day i'm your host and moderator roy wood johnson and like the other menu about to meet. I'm a father. let's get into it now. All fathers the same but we share many of the same experiences. We've all yield. We've all cried. We've all seen some truly disgusting bodily functions sometimes all before eight in the morning. We all know that raising a great kid and being a great dad is hard and the path is never all that clear like drive through fall but one thing is for sure it gets a lot easier when you have fellow dads to talk to so we brought together a diverse group of men to elevate the voices of fathers tell our truths laugh and hopefully share some wisdom. You're gonna hear from six dad's four of them from across the country one comedian. That's me and one dad that happens to have been the forty. Fourth president of the united states. Who at the end of the day is just a father like the rest of us with that. It is my honor to introduce the author of a promised. Land forty fourth president of the united states and father to sasha and malia barack obama people. Thank you for joining us as you can see Brother president. I put on a nice sweater jacket pocket square so that my momma won't be disappointed. I just wanted to make sure that. I'm pressed my mother today. Run i think you look sharp Your momma would be proud. I notice all the other bands though with me going low casual not trying to sit on put on a front the way you are with and all that so but that's fine you're the host your professional media guy you've got you've got to keep up fair enough well speaking of the dass. Let's go in and meet the dads. He'll be joining us in conversation today. I we got felix leiter and illustrator and video producer north carolina with two daughters six and eight. You also have chris russo. Peter smith a lawyer and a physician assistant and a couple from new york with the six year old daughter and twin. Three-year-olds rob king rob as a writer and actor from los angeles with the two year old boy and carlos mahia who's girls three and six. He promises mr president he promises. They're playing quietly in another room right now Thank you for being here. Say hello to the president. Mr president president was good to see all of it. Although i had to say i am exhausted. Just hear your biographies. It's been bringing back flashbacks of sleepless nights stepping on toys. But that's why we have you here to get ourselves a little bit of advice from one of the most prominent data me history of the country. mr president. First thing i would like to do though is began with a quote from your book in a promised land. You said quote every parent's sabres such moments when the world slows down. And all that matters is that you are present fully to witness the miracle of your child growing up. Could you expand on that just a little. I was describing what it was like. Just coaching sasha's basque rec league basketball team when she was seven or eight even in the midst of the presidency. And and just the sheer joy that that would bring and wishing that I've maybe planned. So that i had more of that and maybe a little less of meetings in the situation room. Although it's an extreme example. I think all of us as parents and as fathers are struggling with and trying to figure out the fact that the single most important thing in our lives. Are these little people who Are dependent on us and Were teaching and bringing us joy. And they're teaching us about ourselves but we also got work to make eleven Gotta hit deadlines sometimes have to travel and so often that. Hold the way we organize schedule. Our lives Prevents us from being there as much. As we'd like the way you're able to multitask during during that eight years. You know you're the president yet to be a husband. You have to work on your jump shots you have to steal somehow. Find time for your kids as well like we. You're juggling so many things how you always able to make sure that you were there and always fully present not just physically but mentally when i was campaigning for the presidency Or when i was in the. Us senate night a commute back and forth between washington and chicago. The issue for me was just being physically present. How did i managed. I managed that. Because i have extrordinary partner who was just a great mom and was Carrying the burden the lion's share of the day to day megan sure the bay where the pediatrician's appointment and making sure that you know the ballet tights fit right for the dance recital and all that and i'd show up at the dance recital but i didn't. I wasn't komen their hair. There was one time where. I tried to call me hair. And michelle is away for a weekend and It's he or she was four or five at the time and when we got to the the dance studio one of one of michelle's spreads another parent came up and whispered the lynn. Do you want me to redo your hair and in malaysia. Who had said it was fine. She's all like yes please. This is a disaster. And i overheard her and i i was i realized man. I'm not well equipped here. So once i was in the presidency as i described The the great good fortune was suddenly. Everybody came to me. I had no commute is literally walking down the stairs and walking down the colony and i didn't have big up my dry cleaning right so suddenly me being home for dinner every night at six thirty a. Even if i had to go back to the office afterwards those kinds of things made a huge difference. I was fortunate. The the shifting of the perspective in terms of me being all in that wasn't as hard partly just because i it was such a a an amazing break to not be thinking about terrorism or a wildfire and. Just sit there at the dinner table. Listening the the talk about knucklehead boys and the teacher with the weird haircut. Yeah i it was like You know just a a vacation. Every time i spent time with. Let's go to chris and peter. Now tartlets wins a six year old. How much chaos does that generate in the house. Do you think it's gaydos chris. Total chaos chaos Juggling work in home Actually i a lot of times feel guilty. Because when i go to work it's a little bit of an escape and that's saying a lot when you work at a cancer hospital do things. We really have. Larger patient is so important and also snacks and snacks. Maps and snacks. Highly underrated time most the time when kids kids are acting up there either tired and can admit it or they're hungry. How you guys figuring out schedules though right because at bat age.

The big lie take listen and the leadership of the gop briefly for a one night when they still had this sort of sense of fear. In them You know going against the president and then poof. Suddenly everybody was back in line now. What that is the reason for that is because the base believing the base believed it because this had been told to them not just by the president but the media that they watch and nobody stood up and said stop. This is enough. this is not true. I won't say nobody let me correct it. There were some very brave people. Who did their jobs like the secretary of state and georgia who was then bishop attack for it and all those congressman started looking around and they said you know what. I'll lose my job. I'll i'll get voted out of office another way of saying this is. I didn't expect that there would be so few people who would say well. I don't mind losing my office because this is too important. "And here's what you need to know about today. Yeah it is Aviation maintenance technicians day. Very specific right. Well yeah it's to recognize charles. Edward taylor he's the guy that put the engine together for the wright brothers plane so if not for him perhaps we wouldn't even know. The wright brothers were so happy aviation maintenance technicians day a it's also a national scavenger hunt. Day as i mentioned. And you know i do. These scavenger hunts for you every day to try to figure out what the coolest events are trying to find some little fun facts for you. And i think i've done a good job today. I'll be honest with you. I've got some good stuff coming up. So i feel like. I've i've completed my scavenger hunt mission. In fact i'll start with some of those events now believe it or not scavenger hunts. Don't want to go back that far. Only about one hundred years or so. Many believe that gossip columnist elsa maxwell is the one that invented scavenger hunts. She was sort of in a business Out of staging games at parties. She wanted to go to a bunch of parties and came up with these kind of cool things to do at the party's i including the scavenger hunt will. Actually she did one in one thousand nine hundred twenty seven in paris. Well it led to accusations of theft because people are going around grabbing stuff that a perhaps should not have so Yeah i if you're going to do this whole ask couch thing today. Make sure you're not stealing stuff that that wouldn't be cool but You know put something together. Maybe put something together for the kids in the backyard. Or something along those lines Could be fun for today. It's also national brothers day today. And i got to hang out with my brother over the weekend. Who quickly said. Hey you did your podcast on my birthday. But you didn't mention me so it really worked out today. National brothers day so Happy belated birthday randy getting out again. Yeah he he moved to las vegas. So i don't get to see him as much but we talk and all that fun stuff came out. This weekend took my mom back vegas with them for a couple of weeks. So that's that's kinda cool. Maybe they'll do a scavenger hunt out there in the desert that can be fun to All right l. Let's take a look at our events for today on this day in eighteen. Eighty three the brooklyn bridge opened for traffic. Check this out. This was the first steel wire suspension bridge. Not just in the states. But anywhere and i was like. Oh well you know. The brooklyn bridge had a couple of different names. But you know maybe i could make up some joke where you know. It's a pain in the butt bridge super traffic bridge or whatever so i started looking on twitter. I read it and various places to see if i can see. What are people complaining about what. What's the joke about the brooklyn bridge and really. What i found out is people love brooklyn rich. I can find one negative thing about the brooklyn bridge so offer. You new yorkers great job putting together a bridge that apparently everybody loves it's been designated a national historic landmark a new york city landmark and a national historic civil engineering landmark are. Let's move down to nineteen eighty nine. This this is a landmark for me. The indiana jones movie the last crusade indiana johnson the last crusade. Oh man one of my favorite movies of all time. Why well okay. Come on han solo harrison ford. And you've got james bond. Sean connery in the same movie. How cool is that. Come on right. Yeah i loved this movie and i was looking like okay. Well what is different. What is something that i can tell you about this movie that it is not obvious i can tell you about the fact that they actually used like real world war. Two german uniforms from hitler's army in the movie like it was actual real uniforms. They had some of those in the actual movie. I could tell you that manila. I'll tell you this one instead in one scene when they were in the blimp harrison. Ford and sean connery thought it was particularly hot in the blimp so they did all of their scenes only wearing clothes from the waist up. Yeah they they were basically in their skivvies. They're wearing their underwear. It was off camera so everything was cool. And i mean come on. We can't get upset about this because we've all been doing it on zoom for about the last year and a half here all right in one thousand. Nine hundred ninety. Three kim basinger filed for bankruptcy. On this day okay. So how did this all go down. She was cast in a movie called boxing elena but after agreeing to be in the movie she decided to back out. The producers then decided to sue her for over eight million dollars. She declared bankruptcy on this day to avoid paying the settlement. Okay two years prior to has. Kim you might remember along with an investment group. Bought a town in georgia. It had a bank at fifty or so buildings in about seventeen hundred acres as she wanted to turn it into a movie studio. Those plans did not pan out in one thousand nine hundred five. The property was resold for a loss. Now of course. Georgia has a bunch of movie studios now things to tyler perry and some others putting together. These movie studios. I guess she was a little ahead of time on this idea. By the way the town it seems to be growing so it have been investment. That maybe she should have hang hung onto because back. Then it only had a few hundred people now There's about eleven thousand people there just last week. It was announced that a new auto manufacturing facility is headed for the town as for cam. Lets she up to well. She's kind of stood out of the spotlight in recent years and she is spending most of her time with animal groups as a side note to anada boxing elena movie madonna did the same thing. She was cast in the role and backed out of it. The movie was a flop. Both critically and financially. So i guess. Kim and madonna both made a good decision in not being in that movie on this day. In twenty eleven okay. This is a fun. One that i found and it's not exactly what happened on this day. But i'll i'll give you this story so on this day in two thousand eleven on his visit to the united kingdom. President barack obama met queen elizabeth and prince philip duke of edinburgh. Okay they totally hit it off. They you know everything went great. She said some great things. She said he was one of the nicest people that she's met. Things like that on a on a visit Barack obama decided to do a toast to the queen and when he started his toes he had said something where the band actually thought. It was a cue to start playing. God save the queen so they started playing the music during his toast that he was giving. So you've got this really awkward situation. Where barack obama is talking and the band is still playing which is totally no even here in the states. You know you don't talk over the national anthem. You don't do that.

"Whoa. Let me just say that you say this. I think I touched a little bit early. But I would say this again once once and once you have individuals, that's that's in prison and they lights which go off and the life change and you know they're trying to be productive Individuals. Of course, When you get out, you just want to help other individuals that's in your position. It's like any time I walk into a prison already know that the individuals there are Basically inspired because I'm walking in there or any not just me any formally incarcerated individual. When you go back into those prisons and and have those conversations, it's it's a different It's a different appreciation. Can I ask you a question about that, too? Yeah. I mean, I want to. I do want to. Do you ever feel pressured by that that people really want expect a lot from you when you go back inside. Oh, so when I go back inside, Of course, this is just everybody's going to be right. There's like I'll be Barack Obama walking into the prison, you know? As my brother used to call me thinking, Barack Obama, you know, but you know, I think Out in society. More people pull it you for different things, you know. Ah, lot of organizations pull at you. And you know, of course you want to say yes to everything that can help the next person. But then, at times you feel yourself like, oh, honey, some personal some personal space. I need himself caring the small that you know, I need to go unpack somewhere is getting tough is getting robbed so One thing I always tell individual stats get down like a Don't let him pull you in all different directions, man. You ain't gonna be able to keep up because they had They would definitely run you ragged Lee out here actually think he's a regular times. That is for strangling. Done. Um, I I, uh I pulled one cliff, which I do want to play. Um, it's actually from the episode about lockdown. Um so you you kind of know over headed here. You don't have a record a few years ago, we broadcasted this year for obvious reasons. Um, but first before we listen to clip I think people need to know what a lockdown is, Um, in the present context. Lockdown is when there is no movement none. You're stuck in your cell. It could be up to 72 hours. You know, Until this time to shower, they would bring you everything to you to bring your graphics to you and Aggie lunch at that time. Bring you dinner. Um, and you don't like to say you only technically. I will say aloud, but you're committed to shower every 72 hours when you're in the lockdown situation, So you're you're 24 hours in yourself. But what? I just want to clarify it could go on for months. It could go on Just my luck. Years. Yes, on bits, just like it's a trip. You know the resilience of the human Spirit is just you just learned to adapt to the situation And that's all I could say. Because you've got people that spin in solitary confinement for like 40 something years? No, you said Yeah, that's actually I feel like this clip speaks so directly to even have how resilient people are. That's why will you be here? This clip? So if you could play that clip, uh, that would be great. We could listen to it. Myself, You know he had to sweat shirts. This is J. The guy with the soupy salad and he's been through a lot of lockdowns with various Celis but the city with the sweatshirt, he was memorable. So he would take one sweatshirt and we're like inspection, and he would.

"I Barack Hussein Obama do solemnly swear Barack Obama's inauguration as president of the United States was add a few of us believe we would ever see our lifetimes and a success seem to Mark a profound change in the history of America's tortured racial politics. Very few people would ever heard of Barack Obama when he gave a keynote speech at the 2004 Democratic Convention. I remember thinking who is this guy? He was so exciting and charismatic and put forward a vision of America that could excite all of us across rates. There is not a Black America and a white America and Latino America and Asia in America. There's the United States of America. Barack Obama was offering the country who kind of aspirational vision of what it could be and it proved to be politically very very powerful despite the enormous excitement that agreed it's across the nation when the first-term senator announced his candidacy for president. It's struck many as an exceedingly long shot. There was a lot of hesitation in terms of whether or not a black candidate could win the presidency and whether or not voting for him would be in effect throwing away a vote those presidential campaign focused largely on issues other than race Senator Obama felt compelled to address the subject after an inflammatory video surfaced quoting has passed her the Reverend Jeremiah right out of context. With his presidential prospects in dire Jeopardy Obama confronted the issue directly with a brilliantly wrought and deeply personal speech icon more disown him than I can disown my white grandmother a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed her by on the street. I think the fact that Barack Obama had grown up in a household where he did not have first-hand experience with you know, relatives who had gone through a Litany of Horrors that is in you know, the history of black people in this country meant that he had a perspective on Race that very few African Americans in this country have we may have different stories but we home, and hopes we may not look the same and may not have come from the same place. But we all want to move in the same direction towards a better future for our children wage. Our grandchildren African Americans who saw the speech and said, oh, okay. He understands where we're coming from and they will white people who will flood speech and certainly understands that I'm not a racist even if I have these idea that people might think are unpopular about race. That was the masterstroke of that speech. Obama's unifying message resonated with voters across the country on November 4th 2008. They elected him the first African American president of the United States of America. We got the idea that there is a black president that black children off the black people can go out and say there's somebody that looks like me in the White House and not just Obama Michelle Obama their children that there is a family that looks like me in the White House is huge..

"Barack Obama and we did as a matter of fact in a Barack Obama you have a piece at Manhattan institute about why deficits still matter I'm sorry to hear me the laughter and they're completely most of them are denial west on this math but I've seen some people who are right of center is trying to say well yeah it's not ideal these deficits but we're growing and the markets are reacting that badly the markets he going up even though that these deficits keep going up so if they're not spoken were still the global currency will this is fine it's actually not as bad as we thought what's your response to that time to fix it is now before the fiscal crisis hit before the economic crisis hit we're going to hit a trillion dollar deficit this year and unlike the trillion dollar deficits a decade ago that was cyclical and went away of the economy got better these are going to head towards two trillion dollars within a decade and keep growing there after because of social security and Medicare costs so it's it's only going to get worse and you know even if interest rates remain low within a couple decades nearly half of your taxes are going to go to paying interest on the debt the so we can either address that now gradually or we can wait ten years when we go into recession or the deficit disorders and then have the global market start shutting American dad and then have to do is do the laughter consolidations during a crisis I mean this is the insolvency we've seen from the bookkeepers in the government the insolvency is coming some of these big programs gonna hit walls within the next twelve to twenty years people are being forced to pay into them and they're not gonna be able to keep their promises we know this is just basic arithmetic yes and you would think that in a time like this where things are going well it is scary that it's a trillion dollar deficit basically as far as the eye can see and one party is reaction is to basically shuffle some papers and say well we don't like it and now we'll get around to it which is the Republicans the other party saying this is a terrible this we're not spending nearly enough what we really need to do is massively massively expand all of this stuff and mumble a few things about taxing the rich it's just no one is taking this seriously and as you say when there's a downturn and the clock gets closer and closer to insolvency this stuff is going to hit at some point and then we'll have a bunch of bewildered people pointing fingers and screaming at each other and it seems like that's the only way this is going to get resolved in the middle of a crisis which is very very unfortunate hundred and three trillion dollar shortfall over thirty years for social security and Medicare unfathomable number you can even consider that these programs for sure about a hundred and three trillion dollar cash shortfall going to calm and the economic hit is going to come to it's just a matter of the going to be five years is going to be ten years and are we going to address now address it now or wait wait until I you know again it is things have gotten so much worse I think it's unfortunately the latter for the political reasons and the dynamics that we've just broken through and broken down but that doesn't mean we're gonna stop talking about them and as much as it is cringe worthy to do so it's an issue that I think is going to be a specially painful for younger people so I'm gonna keep beating the drum and even if it feels like I'm hitting my head into that same wall that insolvency wall so be it Brian read all of the Manhattan institute was some clarity and some numbers on these fronts as always Brian thank you we'll be right back on the happy hour yeah we'll try to cheer things up a little bit after this you're listening to a drive in.

"That Barack Obama was involved in the get go what does that mean for him what does it mean for Biden with all the talk about okay impeaching trump and getting trump to answer questions it sounds to me like they're an awful lot of questions Barack Obama now has to answer for well I think they were there yes I think that's right now I think he should have been and they had to answer them all along this is the kind of thing that could not have happened unless he was aware of it and green lighted it and show it just it just to turn it around what do you think the media and the Democrats would say if it turned out that the FBI currently was doing counterintelligence investigations and president trump was unaware of them they would make that into the biggest you know case that that trump was incompetent that you could imagine and that's exactly what they would say and they would say precisely because everybody knows that these intelligence operations are done so that the president can do his job so of course they're involved in them how much it's going to have consequences for Obama and Biden how much they're going to be pressed on this really depends on how how much of an impression what happened here made makes on the country I like you happen to think it's a big deal when the incumbent administration exploits the counter intelligence and law enforcement apparatus of the government in a political campaign against the opposition candidate to me that's a pretty big scandal so it's all right for the country doesn't seem to see it the way we see it we we well I don't know the rest of the country been aware the rest of the country been fed by a mob mentality the media's only one part of the story and the main story in the narrative in the where we actually have real evidence real Russia collusion a really raked investigation a real abuse of power the real intelligence the powerful tools of intelligence turned on the American people you know that's all going to be proven real John Solomon's on for an hour yesterday and the and you know we have a slight disagreement we know we're going to have the Horowitz report on call me which we've been talking about likely today tonight or soon and we know that we that there was a referral for potential prosecution in that case and he also showed a lack of candor yeah those documents that were classified in this house that FBI agents retrieved a month after his fire that's that would be one investigation then of course the vise investigation after multiple warnings we know there was premeditated fraud committed on a FISA court on four separate occasions those warrants were signed and everybody had been warned that the bulk of information used in the application is unfair of unverifiable we now know ninety plus percent of it to be outright lies call me sign three of them but more importantly they were worn by Bruce store and Kathleen calve like that still had an agenda Hillary paid for it that was not brought to the attention of these judges in any fashion that it should have been brought to their attention is that a crime premeditated fraud to obtain a warrant to spine an opposition party candidate than a transition team that a president shot I think it's a profound I we we've done this before I know but we I think it's a profound abuse of power to my mind an abuse of power in many ways is a lot more important than whether happens to violate the provision of title eighteen I think the fraud cases are very hard to make beyond a reasonable doubt when you're dealing with people who have a lot of ability under the law to exercise discretion whether they've abuse their discretion is a lot easier proven to me it's a lot more consequential but you know I think whether it's a crime or it's not a crime it's still an abuse of power and people have to be held to account for it yeah okay so do you see crimes do you see what I see that there was a rigged investigation in the Hillary case to protect her when the evidence was overwhelming and incontrovertible on the espionage act and the destruction of evidence subpoenaed emails and the bleach but not hammers do you see that there was a premeditated brought on a FISA court and there were two separate well John thinks is going to be another report that would deal with the leaking of classified information by heart what's when I see something deeper merging and that would be maybe a a bar Dora Moore dorm reporter something there of that will have exposure of those people that outsourced intelligence gathering to spy on American citizens are using our western allies to do it all in an attempt to circumvent American laws which I think would be the biggest abuse of power part of this some of all yeah look at that stuff gets proved I agree with you and the reason I well when you say get approved don't you think we can talk about this is because now I think it's pretty important and I do think it's a pretty spectacular piece of power you have to parse out join the the different things you said the one that really grabs your attention I think is the fraud on the FISA court because if they made knowing misrepresentations to the five court than people what a hang over that and that is a crime that you know that lying to a court as a crime two things if I if I lied to accord to the court yes if I committed a fraud on the court when I go to jail in the McCarthy if I was prosecuting you you would know and if I showed a lack of candor I would be treated like Papadopoulos man afford and cold but not the way call me and Clinton are being treated well you know the I. B. lactic candor with the reason they bounced McKay badly F. B. I. right and on and I don't think that the clothes chapter by the way I think you know they're gonna wait till they finish all of these investigations and then they're going to decide what is the proof of false statements that they have and at that point I think they'll make an evaluation about whether pursued criminally or not I'd stay right there are great book just.
