Pandemic playoffs: Brewers, Astros in despite losing records

"When you woke up on Sunday morning none of the eight matchups were said I. think that's kind of cool that would be like the the final day of the regular season Lebron Yeah I don't even know who we're playing. That's what it was for every single team yesterday in Major League Baseball your dodgers are going to play the brewers who got in yesterday with the first losing record granted at sixty. Games with the first losing record for a team in the history of the Major League Baseball Playoffs there were twenty nine and thirty one opening round best of three all in the same ballpark what are your thoughts and we couldn't lose I mean you know it. Likely not, but we could because his only three games all they got to do is win two of them, right? So baseball is so weird dodgers obviously you mentioned we got him at home dodger stadium. I don't think that you know I'm sure we're going to roll out Walker Bueller in Kershaw and we're going to do what we need to do to get to the next round But you could lose you know teams could lose you know the beginning of the year, the dodgers and the Yankees were pretty much the favorites to to get to the thing. In the end, but then the pandemic happened then we had to do all of the rescheduling and figure out how many games that went on for so long how many games should they play the only WanNa play this amount, the players, WanNa, play that amount it became a money issue, and now we finally have gotten to the point where October will be playoff baseball. Speaking out, let's go through a couple of interesting storylines after this round by the way, then everything is going to be played at trial sites and eventually the world series will be played at the home of the Texas Rangers and they'll wrap that no. Later than October twenty eighth, they want to avoid the second third. So homefield everybody early, and then we're going to neutral sites, Los Angeles San Diego. Texas and Houston quick thoughts the Yankees of the five seat in the AL, the five seat, the rays of the one-seat. What does the same thing with the dodgers? Right? The Yankees could they take care of business they moved their events they don't they go home whether they a one C or DHCP. It's everybody's even really to be honest with you. Everybody's even Garrett Cole. Start, for the Yankees Chain Bieber for the Indians in for all the money they paid Garrett Cole Shane Beavers had a better year he has in when you look at it, there are no fans in the stands. So there's no home field advantage for anybody you know what's great about not having fans the Houston Astros. Left right. Everywhere they go. They are the sick see the astros have made it in baseball's big off season, they should just get blinked. Every time people bring up the Astros are frown just cheated just blatant just cheat to win. They're taking on the Minnesota twins keys, dodgers will take on the brewers the padres in the playoffs for the first time in fourteen years will take on the Saint Louis Cardinals and the much maligned and I know it's a sixty game season. How about the Miami Marlins under? Derek. Jeter, for everything that they have gone through there and they'll get the Chicago cubs. Yeah. They they. They deserve to being I'm happy for I'm happy for Jeeter because when he? Blew everything up and traded. Call Stan and everybody was like Oh they just care about the money. They're completely trash in the organization, and now they're in the playoffs and they take on. Chicago like you said, one

"Need do. Steve Baker is Goa eight. No. When every game at home this weekend and you're sitting there at the Bay Area Chevy dealer Sports desk would say they're in the playoffs. I boiling to bet on it. Yeah, You know, you never know what could happen. The Giants probably have the best schedule of any of the teams they're battling with to get into the postseason. The Giants after that 14 to 2 win an Oakland yesterday, their first win in six games against the A's fact they have been outscored 42 to 16 in the first five. They play a four game series here against Colorado and that a four game series there against San Diego. Cueto against Marquez. Tonight. The Giants are tied with Cincinnati in Milwaukee. Right now they're all of the 500 mark. There are half a game back of Philadelphia in the wildcard race. Two teams make it The others Don't Although six teams are in fact separated by just a game and a half, fighting for four spots, including ST Louis and Miami, it will be fascinating. To see how it turns out the Rockies air virtually out of the playoff funds, and now it looks like they won't have Nolan are Renato for the entire last week of the season, he has been battling a left shoulder injury. And then the Padres second best record in the league, already clinched a playoff spot. Overwhelmingly, it looks like it will be the number four seed, so they BB. Maybe resting some of their regulars in those final few games. Philadelphia finishes with seven on the road have Washington The Tampa Bay Milwaukee has ate on the road and Cincinnati in ST Louis, Cincinnati, three home against Milwaukee, three on the road against Minnesota. Me time. The A's the magic number to clinch the American League West remains at one. They're off today. "Libraries have to be struggling to be. I don't know I mean I guess based on the story I just read it. You would guess but one were they ever thriving seventeen when you couldn't find things on the Internet you had to go search for the libraries weren't Capitalistic Venture. Right publicly funded. And the only way they get money is if you like Albert late book. I'm not talking about as a business. I'm talking about the idea that all over America libraries have to be cavern. Ously empty up probably but is that a bad thing. I mean there's nothing like a good stroll to a public library. They'll car walk. Eat all of it. It's great microfiche. I mean is he wrong. You want an empty library. Dan and I'll tell you why right now. Thanks for asking. This is why you want an empty library. What's the number one rule of library? No Sh- yup. That's the number one rule. Too many people less less people more sh boy. That's what you wanted. The library Mike and we finally get to finally get to the myles. Garrett Mason Rudolph take that no one has heard. Espn tried to prop up that story. That was dead for several days. Mike Tomlin came on. I take we. We melt more. The story was dead. It was dead we melt some more out of it was done and then we can show the video again and again and again of any more milk in there. Is there any more milking? They're milking fan. Allegations were made people responded. This is how this works. I know but the Mike Tomlin Several days after the fact appeared on I take because my we were milking. It doesn't provide the platform. He only blinked twice their entire interview Higher than I made that up. But the underwrite yeah here. Here's the take that you're not really hearing anybody admit. I want all this to go away. This is what they're saying behind closed doors at the NFL. Undoubtably to there is no good result here. None of it. There isn't if this thing goes the distance if there's legal If there is a suing of miles Gary Now. Tomlin is saying that he would consider legal action and Mason. Rudolph is saying are in Rudolph's people are saying I keep floating out. He is considering legal action. We said that Mason. Rudolph looks like somebody who would tell you that. His daddy's GonNa sue you but Tom would also said he would want the story to go away and then said he would pursue aggressive legal action. Yeah Michael McCain actually wrote an interesting article as to why Mason Rudolph would probably not actually pursue a legal option. Because if he's the one doing the suing then the burden of proof is on him he actually has to prove that myles. Garrett didn't hear this which is a lot more difficult whereas essentially a tie is a loss for Mason Rudolph at that point and all of us. Nobody really knows what happened. But let's follow this to the end of where it is and there's a big lawsuit and we find out maybe something was said wasn't said societally. I'm not going to like any of these results. Each side is going to be propped up in an election year. To mean something socially that it's an ugly situation there is no good ending here myles. Garrett lied or the I guess the best ending. Israel's thought he heard something that was just a misunderstanding. Maybe something like that but wasn't exactly that but what what what are we. Rooting people are rooting for things here. You WanNa root for Mason Rudolph a white quarterback in the NFL to actually say that word or do you WanNa root for myles Garrett a black player a former number one overall pick lying about this. I can tell which is worse. This is awful. I wanted to go away. I just hope it's buried of Mazen setted. That's that's worse. We all agree on. I mean they're both pretty bad. Though in in these particular times both of them are bad but when Mike says there is no good that comes from it I would say ratings ratings is a good that comes from and it's why some of that milked of some of that gets milked like obviously it's all ugly and obviously none of it. This is what I've told you before whether we're talking about Hulk Hogan shouting the word the ways that we discuss racism in these venues is spectacularly dumb. We just go to the easiest most obvious place. Did he call me that name or did he not call me that name? Should he be using that word or not using that word? Does it end with an A. or an. Are we go to the dumbest places possible in discussing this stuff? As opposed to talking about the stuff that is meaningful racism that means something not something shouted possibly by a quarterback in a rage of frustration. Or you know just in. What does that smollet is that? He's now he's being. He's being indicted now in in Chicago. Like all of this stuff is. It's just empty headed nonsense where people can discuss race comfortably when it's this when it's this stupid. Yeah it's even racist can get behind the fact that saying the N. Word that sort of cut and dried. That's the tipping point on what we can all but that but that's a place you won't find when something like that happens you will find instantaneously for as much complaining as we've gotten over the years here because I talk race too much instantaneously. Everyone's in on the dumb conversation like it when it arrives and it's got a video immediately people know you're okay to talk race there and it's the dumbest possible way to yes but I don't know how to have this conversation. I can tell you I don't want to have this conversation because there is nothing good here to discuss. It's all ugly. Both outcomes either outcome ugly either. Have a guy lie about this story. Right or misheard or lying about what he heard. Or You have a quarterback who actually said that to a block. There's no audio your. Es Curious Yeah. I don't get how discuss this. I just want like the Astros. I WanNa talk about the Astros. That's all I want to discuss this story. I want to ask any of the questions associated with this story. It's horrible.

We're starting a new four episode series on one of the great clashes in modern basketball. It's the superman vs the super team. That's right it's Lebron James Versus the warriors. Fun Little Nugget. Did you know that Lebron James and Steph curry were born in the exact same maternity ward at the same hospital to hear all of the ups and downs and get in on all the drama of how their rivalry unfolded subscribe now to sports wars from wondering. What do you think about when Jim Crane has asked on Monday day about his insistence that it's unclear if the signs dealing scheme contributed to the astros world series and 2017? It is unclear. We don't know exactly exactly what happened but put it this way. If the Astros didn't think it was to their benefit then why do they use it right. You also pointed out that uh-huh Jim Crane was asked directly about whatever communication he had with. Aj hinch and Jeff Liu now after Melby Center around this memo tightening the rules walls around sign stealing and he pretty much skirted around the question. One thing that became clear from reading report was that the communication within within the Astros Organization was poor to say the least crane did not ask Luneau more than once he said once but not more than once about various allegations that have been made about the astros through the years that have surfaced in the media. Well before our report he did not call knowing evidently and say you gotta gotTa stop this Luneau enhanced. Meanwhile did not really talk about it either. The report says that Luna did not communicate the rules effectively to the field staff and Hinch for whatever reason did not feel comfortable going alone. No in saying this is a problem with address it so there were communication problems up and down that organization. Is this a black. I on the sport. I I heard you in Bob Costas and a lot of people yesterday. You know talking about how this was a dark day for baseball. It absolutely was a dark day for baseball. And that's how I started my column on Tuesday. I basically said let no one take a bow for this day. It was one of the darker days in Major League history and it was a dark day because team was confirmed to have cheated and for baseball itself. It's not a pleasant circumstance because to me it it was akin to the steroid era not exactly analogous the steroid era. Initially the rules. Were not entirely clear or at least the players didn't think they were clear here and there was no enforcement. They're no penalties. Initially when players were using same type of thing occurred here broad rules lax enforcement until Manfred start clamping down September. Two thousand seventeen and players will press every advantage until they are essentially told they cannot press anymore so for all that it was a dark day. Indeed you'd Never WanNa see your sport in a scandal like this and while we can have different opinions on whether Manfred acted appropriately in the end. It's still something that baseball would never ever have wanted to have had happened. Can thank you so much for joining us and listen. I have after really congratulate you and Evan on this incredible reporting you've been doing these last few months so truly tremendous work and thank you so much. Thank you could either and you can read all of Ken. Rosenthal and Evan Drellich S- reporting on. MLB sign stealing scandal at the athletic dot Com. A few hours after we recorded this interview. The Red Sox announced that they have parted ways with manager. Alex Cora saying quote we collectively decided that it would not be possible for Alex to effectively lead the club going forward quarter also issued a statement thanking the Red Sox and saying he did not want to be a distraction to the organization going forward forward. MLB had decided to hold off on punishing core for his role in the Astros cheating scandal until they finish their ongoing investigation into the twenty eighteen. Red Sox for electron science dealing. Here are some other stories. We're following at the lead. It's never the right time to step away but now is the right time for me. And it's a tough decision. I've thought about it a lot. Carolina Panthers Linebacker Luke keithly announced that he is retiring from the NFL after just eight seasons the twenty eight year old got emotional at times in the online video. I still WANNA play. But I don't think it's the right decision so a seven time pro bowler and the youngest is player ever to win the defensive player of the Year award keithly dealt with a spate of injuries and reasons seasons including three serious concussions in three years longtime and beloved Los Angeles Slash San Diego Charger Antonio Gates is also retiring. Gates is one of the most prolific pass catching tight ends in. NFL history and in two thousand seventeen. He broke the record for career. TD's by a tight end reverse growing and so one hundred twelve career touchdown catches the most NFL tide gates was an iron man in the NFL. And basically a security blanket for Philip rivers who always managed to find him open gates will will end his career with nine hundred fifty five receptions more than eleven thousand receiving yards and one hundred sixteen. TD's meanwhile there are some new and disturbing allegations against Penn State's football program former Nittany Lion. Player Isaiah Humphries filed a federal lawsuit against head coach James Franklin and and four former teammates on Tuesday alleging that he was subjected to sexual hazing and abuse. According to the suit players said they were going to quote Sandusky. "I'm not trying to excuse. Aj hinch for his neglect in failing linked to stop what was going on but I am sure in his mind. He faced a series of complex decisions. We can say now yes. He made the wrong decisions. It's always easy to judge in hindsight but the same time it was not black and white in his mind from what I can gather can. How hard is it going to be to replace? I Jeff Luna I mean he was the architect of this team's transformation from losing hundred games to winning the world series. It's not easy to find the general manager Andrea any time of year. It's really difficult to find one in January. I'm not sure that they can go get someone from another team. I'm not sure another team would grant permission to lose a valued employee Khloe this point of the year so that's one obstacle there are some unemployed GM's out there they could go after. Perhaps they could do this. Non Traditionally I don't no but you're correct. It won't be easy and Jeff Liu now in his statement responding to the suspension and eventually being fired he kind of through the players under the the bus he literally said I am not a cheater and he said quote. The trash can banging was driven and executed by players What do you make of that kind of a statement achievement? It wasn't the best statement now. He started off by saying he apologized and took responsibility but then he said I'm not a cheater when his team had just been penalized for cheating he is in general. Maj was the general manager of that team and it seemed to a lot of people including me that that was shirking of responsibility and that was not the best way to address the situation. Luneau is a guy that is not very popular in Major League Baseball. A lot of people do not like cow. Oh aggressively he pursued his strategy analytic space strategy a strategy that led to the firings of many scouts departures of other employees. There was some celebration among some people in baseball today to see him get his come up whether that's right or wrong. That's the reality. He faces and if he ever wants to work can the game again as a GM. I imagine it's going to be difficult for him. Can you see a scenario where any players asked to be traded or maybe they use this as a reason to leave in free agency. I mean the core of the Astros lineup is locked up for a few years. George Springer is going to arbitration. I think his contract is set to expire next ear. Springer is a good example Kavita and it would be a good time for the Astros to approach him about a long term extension. It would be good. Pr Or at a time. They needed badly but he's a year away from free agency and as good as the market has been for elite players. He might have wanted to wait anyway. And now with the Astros facing this uncertainty with the team sort of tarnished and looked at differently maybe he wants to go to a new team and start over after this season so those are the kinds of decisions that they're going to face with their players Summerside Long-term Bregman out today among them but as these players reach free agency. They're going to need to decide. Do they want to return or do they want to begin fresh somewhere else. "Team you you just look at the city of Cincinnati a great fan base you know is Cold Cincinnati but they still come out to the stadium. Try to support this team. And they've been really given nothing nothing to support with Mike Ground could change ground. Get him out of there. That would be different. That's obviously not going to happen. That till is not a coach. Maya's dimension that should have been picked for for that particular job and I don't WanNa Look Joe Borough and find himself in that Kinda desolate situation. I think it's bad. I think it serves to I think it would serve to contaminate emanate him and to come from a program like Lsu with coach. Ron Near you deleted. He is beloved. He is and what happened to go from there to Cincinnati natty bad team but beyond a coach but some teams that just bad because there I personally would rather see him in Miami then Cincinnati Eddie. Let's say something like that but but but do put the question is like I think you'll make Cincinnati relevant. I think they're relevant with. Don't but that's why we're talking about sometimes dropping. The draft can be a blessing because I want to get back to a story. We discussed earlier. The Astros stunning the baseball world yesterday. Firing both manager manager. Aj hinch and GM Jeff Liu now the firings came almost immediately after MLB announced tension. Lou Now would be suspended for the entire twenty twenty season for their roles. The 2017 Astros signed stealing scandal. The Astros also were fine. Five million dollars and will lose their first and second round draft picks in twenty twenty and twenty twenty. Twenty one stephanie. Do you have a problem with. MLB's punishment for the Astros do not originally did yesterday upon learning of am about. Tom and was a bit strange. You do it at three two three o'clock in the afternoon and as a result what you WANNA do you WANNA turn around and say okay. Maybe the story adopt because the National National Championship game is that night. But as you hit the details I gotta tell you remember crane electing the fire the manager and the GM that's not MLB's appeased decision. This should have been more than a one year ban. One could particularly argue on me to sit up there and to literally have technological equipment installed. uh-huh that enables you to steal signs that premeditation banging on the can on garbage cans to indicate to a player. What pitch is about to be thrown except guess what ladies and gentlemen that means? It wasn't just a manager. It means it wasn't just a bench coach. Who by the way tried to deny right or or the general manager rather trying to deny that he knew anything about it which is utterly ridiculous? The bottom line is this goes down to the players themselves math mass. How will we look at some of these hitters now for the Houston Astros? How we look at some of the players who clearly benefit from this stuff and then you got? Alex Coeruleus a bench coach in Houston at the time. He goes to Boston the very next year and the very next year Boston wins the world series with him as a manager. What you look at all This as far as I'm concerned they both deserve to be fired. I think an argument could be made. It depends on what they find in their investigation about the red sox. If they find anything about the Red Sox tits that's emblematic of what they discovered in Houston. Alex Cora's got to go. Then you've got to look at Carlos Beltran new manager for the next. He was appointed Houston at the moment and Tom. If he's found to be involved all right. Do you got to deal with him. If he's not bound to be involved you got at least let him know that will be zero tolerance policy where he's concerned. If you're the New York mets this is catastrophic and jobs deserve to be loss from it and I believe that the Houston Astros astroid. I'm talking about the trophy. Should be taken away from their facilities. I saw all. I'm saying I'm not saying it'd be giving it a dog. Yeah but you're not. You're not a champion if competed. Give us that Dan World. We can't take the parade. They also money back. We will take this because you don't deserve. They also are big markets fourth largest market country and the value information differently than I believe so they value information differently than we're trying to figure it out what York Lci. Hey Chicago Houston is for. I think I think after Chicago. Anyway the point is the value information so much that that that they obviously value it more than ethical considerations. I mean clearly but to vacate a championship like we saw what happened. It had it. It occurred it occurred and they were aided by cheating most likely it like without the cheating who knows if they win but the fact is this is what happened in terms of the punishment initiative. I think it was stiff. I think losing your top two picks in the draft as as much better as much improvements been made it identifying count in the amateur draft. Losing in your top two picks and consecutive drafts hurts the Astros going forward. No question remember Pete. Rose was banned for life for gambling. Yup How is I. Don't think he should have been either enough light. But let me ask you a question. How is this any better? I mean it's it's issue also by the way waiting on the punishment for handed bound for the Patriots really quickly final hiring here the browns hiring Stefanski. He was the a long time coordinator for the Vikings Steven A.. How do you feel about that higher? Sunday's performance notwithstanding because their offense was incredibly predictable against San Francisco. I mean Saturday. That is the bottom line is. He's been a coordinator for awhile. I'm happy he got the opportunity. But it didn't escape me that there were five and L. Coaching openings. Now one single black. That man got the job. I don't have much to add to that Stephen as been on that. And he's absolutely right. What you but but in this case this is not a coordinator skipping following the pipeline as a grievous as the judge then the question is what's the identity entity of those in the pipeline? That's a separate issue. No question all right. We'll leave it on that note guys. Stephen you want to give a quick go. Tigers Stewart was so weak. Thanks for listening to the PODCAST. "After some of the concerns in two thousand seventeen. That had nothing to do with the astor's actually early Major League Baseball did institute new concerted guidelines about electric sign stealing right. This happened actually before the eighteenth postseason and then really was implemented for nineteen and baseball said in a statement. It released us that there were complaints from a lot of teams about a lot of other teams and they were hearing all kinds of stuff stuff. They took it upon themselves to require a few different things. One was an eight second delay in all feeds in the Ballpark so the team could not look at what was going on and live and decode immediately in that real time sense also. There were additional personnel stationed in video rooms major league baseball officials so that if teams engage agan those mlb people could see that firsthand and even dugouts in the postseason or personnel. He'll it'll be so they did take the measures and yet there is still a feeling among many in the sport this stuff goes on. And what's what's the Astros reaction been to this. They came out with a statement essentially saying that they're going to conduct an investigation in conjunction with MLB and basically basically go forward that way now. What they said was regarding the story posted by the athletic? The Astros Organization has begun investigation in cooperation. With Major League Baseball. It would not be appropriate to comment further on the matter at this time. Their General Manager Jeff Lewis spoke to reporters and said essentially that but he also said that. I don't believe there are two thousand seven world series titles should be tarnished reason. We won the world series in two thousand. Seventeen is Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman. And Joseph Berliner a lot of great layers ears and they do things the right way and we as an organization. That's what we aspire to do as well as you mentioned sign. Stealing has been a part of baseball for a a century and even electron exiled stealing while against the rules has been suspended from other teams. I didn't have an didn't have enough to report which teams teams were doing. Exactly what but this is not simply an astros issue now how far and how extensive it goes with other teams that. I don't know exactly for sure. We're but teams have accused each other. That's going to two thousand seventeen. The Yankees and red sox had the apple-watching feud is entering the digital age with the Yankees accusing using the socks of using an apple. Watch to help steal and relay their catcher hand signals. The Red Sox ultimately refined by Major League Baseball for use of of an Apple Watch in illicit way and that is the last time. A team has been penalized for this kind of conduct. The Yankees were fine to at that time but for another are Kinda thing and last year in the playoffs there was the situation with the Indians in the Astros where the astros were kind of engaging counter surveillance the reigning world series. He's champs are accused of possibly having a mole next to the Indian's dugout. The man in question was removed several times for taking pictures and texting and now the train and the Indian cried foul and it never really got anywhere but it was a big incident at the time so this has been going on. Yes and some of the Astros I don't but not there are other teams that are suspected. You've heard everything from the man in center field with the white shirt signaling somehow And and using technology to do that to a camera in Centerfield with an ipad attached with the ipad breaking down a pitchers grips uh-huh to determine whether he is tipping and then that information being conveyed all kinds of talk all kinds of suspicion. It's tough tougher. Baseball spoke prove as one person points out in the article in part because if you come forward an accuser team well maybe your own hands dirty. And that's the problem right. Can you just tell us in twenty seventeen from the people that you talk to you. How open this was at the Astros that people were talking about it or doing this openly in within the team the team open it was? I can't say for sure because I wasn't there wasn't in it but as we reported it was certainly discussed internally discussed among players among different personnel uniform. It was a tough topic because it was being employed. It's just the most being employed you know you talk to a manager and he basically said that this was an issue that permeates the whole league and that the League has done a poor job of policing this so in the course of this investigation. And I'm not asking you to speculate on what the League will do but what could come out of this investigation. I'm not sure we know that the red sox were find in two thousand seventeen into the apple. Watch so I imagine if they found the Astros committed wrongdoing that baseball could issue a fine to them. I don't know that it would go any further than that that but we don't know necessarily all the details here. How far up the chain? It went as far as new Federa so yet. Tough to speculate because you just don't know where the responsibility lies what they're going to find out anything if anything will even come of this but we have seen a fine levied in the case of the Red Sox and we'll just have to see and monitor what happens here all right. "Not not many teams got that opportunity so not easy right now for sure look at sars houston goes it was it was a great game they did everything they were supposed to do they were the exact team they were in the in the offseason that in the regular season and that's basically what one in for them yesterday nick what was the key to the astros waning our opinion missed opportunities by their opponent i mean we we will and we can talk about you darvish and whether or not he was giving a little extra unintentional information to the astros but first thinning dodgers first and second one out 0 run second inning first and second one out zero runs third inning first and second nobody out zero runs fifthinning first and second one out nobody would know runs so i mean can with runners in scoring position to the for tan relegate glaring stat that was do not want to end the serious i that's what you're going to no i was gonna sales oh quicker way to make the point i was making i probably should have justly of that hours i mean that was a huge point i mean the and i understand that five one feels like okay so wasn't a close game there were five non the whole time but if after the first inning when vasser's put up a to spot if you just score one and it's two one if after the second inning when the astros have five runs if you've taken advantage of a couple of those opportunities and all of a sudden it's five two two or five to three i think things go differently especially because houston didn't have confidence in their bullpen so i i think it was missed opportunities in game seven the one game at this world series to me that wasn't really exhilarating from start to finish i'll go back to game number five.

"And with rich from darvish at a fastball swung in routed the right side belgium a long way to was right law darvish routes dark out to score is spranger secca is pregnant and two batters here it's all ready wander nothing for houston the dan show moment to call on espn radio george sprinter scoring george bernard set the tone the world series mvp setting the tone but the game opening double and scoring on a on a cody ballanger error four pitches ended the game and so for all the talk of juice balls and slick baseball's in and all the home runs was interesting about game seven was the first three runs were scored on an error a ground out jose all too vague with an rbi ground out in the first inning and then lance my colors jr the starting pitcher for the astros he grounds out to start the second reading that scores brian mcan that made it three nothing just interesting and there's no like you know hard conclusion to draw from it there's a lot of different ways to score it just was interesting that in a season defined by the home run in a world series in many respects to find by a home run the scoring in the biggest game of the year started and continued with errors and outs a team playing little ball however george springer would bus the game open with a long one in the second to all the way a swinging or tribe don't leftcenter field home four short spranger his hero of the world series and they astros how promote out to us why do nothing here in the second that would chase yu darvish you'll hear from in a minute dan's showman on espn radio george springer your two thousand seventeen world series mvp he had three seventy nine in the fall classic his five homers tied a world series record.

"Stuck pasco first and last podcast i'm all edgar in for my goal a junior this is first and last on espn radio and the espn abc we are presented by progressive insurance our guests up here on the shelf pennzoil performance line and you can tweet us rather shown the 1800flowerscom twitter feed at espn radio and you can tweet me as well at mole egger fifteen thirty i get a chance to do something uh this morning that that not that many people have had a chance to do on this network in that's used the words world champion houston astros the astros when a fantastic wonderfully entertaining world series taking game seven in la last night five one a dodger stadium to win the franchise his first ever world series and the dodgers droughts now extends to a third decade they have a warm one since 1988 gained seven was weird and it was weird because in many respects once it started it kind of felt any climactic but it was also weird to me because one of the big stories of the series in fact he might argue these story this series has been the home run the astros with fifteen home runs in this world series the game that everybody's going to remember and frankly be talking about long after they forget about game 7 game five all those home runs the home run derby the back and forth oh postseason in large part defined by the home run and yet the astros got the night started offense of lead by playing little.

"Can get that break and boggling we know that that's how you how uh the astros pickers ernie pitchers want to attack that lineup so he can get that breaking ball going down in the ground he could have some success yeah i was surprised that it any point and i know we wants to get the fares will in with why they went after the judgment affairs will end his own i guess he missed because i i only i would never show of affairs will zoned you saw it happens where they do the threerun home i mean he has had such trouble with the kerb i would even show him the fares will yeah yeah i think that that last night with harassed i just didn't think that that that will have real good feel for the break ball and he kind of guy he holden to have him to throw him fashionable because he had missed with a breaking ball already he was behind in the couch and that's what makes that's what makes judge so dangerous you know yeah you might strike him out that will times in robot you know you're going to hunt that one mistake and we can put the going on you can do some real dan you know the yankees and held him down for three games the astros played great the first two games but they're both to one games they've only at fifteen hits in the three games korea l tubay girl the only guys will hit at all you surprised the yankees have been as successful as they've been against the astro lineup uh i'm a little bit surprised that the astros haven't had a little bit more production now i mean you know as well as i do that when you get into the post season offense goes down you definitely not going to be teams into submission in october uh but they it looks like they've been a little ansett you know they're not striking out but they are still swing out a bizarre almost seven strike out last night four four yankee pitching by you know just doing a just being a little bit more and you've seen a more offbalance swing and so that with that tells me is they're being just a little too aggressive mike the yankees a going with the romani today to try and see if he can kinda coke's somebody gave through to get a degree through.

"I it's going to be big on into the weekend i think he's skin good pitches to here i mean it's this is a tough league in in in sometimes it's not going to be easy to just throw out the hits when you when you want them or when you need them but it is it is key you can always get a good pitch to hit if you stay within yourself and stay indiscipline so you know we we've state you know we we've done this quite a bit for the for the season and obviously it was big tonight to be able to to put what was eight or nine it bouts in a row which is which is what i'm more impressed with the the hit the hits it come with hitters reporters this horn position are huge obviously but the quality of about is what we talk about we can't always control the result they got good defenders they've they make pitches there you don't always you don't always execute to exactly what you want but when you could put a plus sign by the by the about in in the guy did his job of of put a really good play to paris together more times and not we're gonna we're gonna like the law bestcase scenario oh for the astros this weekend is that the guy the guy that was a part of the line up last night dark fisher continues this lodge streak of his you wanna have too many good players you do want to have that france's marches has a start like last night that helps you to more and more in a moment but you have so many quality hitters this year you really have to ask yourself this question do you want fisher to become an everyday part of the houston astros or when josh read it comes back from his concussion the move right do you move fisher back down to the miners because you're set up in the way where fisher gives you options and yes you have a very talented farm system but if you want to get someone big at the trade deadline you have to give up big pieces derek fisher opening things up like this not going to act like all of a sudden as the next big thing for the houston astros.
