Reviews: Resident Evil 3 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake

"Let's move on to what we're playing. As I mentioned last week I was playing three with. What's the matter we're excited to talk about? All the reflect I played resident evil three beats and even though I did enjoy a lot at the I ended up being ultimately pretty disappointed. I think compared to Ari too. It is half the game that Ari to was and you spend lot of the time sort of retraining. The same ground. That are a two did in those much. Less exploration much less puzzle solving so the whole experience was dislike points in your adult life. You would have been like thank God. This game is short and really fun just one moment in time and what you have more time at home and more time to play games. I don't care to play games. Amount of time spent a long office hours making house. I do not have time to play games. They have the exact same amount of time as I did. When my son was six months old always as a relief to have like a cool short action game I really liked it and I liked the compactness of it. That does not mean that. I think it's right to put it out like six dollar price tag but yeah I feel that way about a lot of games. It's just like you've got residential one reservoir to resonable threes like not. It's just not as substantial as as those first few games and this was their chance to fix that and add more to it. I don't know teenage. Did you ever beat it. I haven't played it yet. I'm missing out on for sure. No spoilers about it but I did like I did like the final boss fight in resonable three other. That was pretty cool. There's a lot of Good Gore. Do you like the part where those Insects lay eggs in your mouth. That was cool. I ever greater whatever the name for the new types the head crab things like go over your your head like a like A. It's like in Peter Jackson's King Kong. When the WORM GOBBLES UP Andy Circus? It's like that yeah. I hate that part. I know yeah parts back but the rest of US are at least seventy. Five percent of us are now playing final fantasy seven. Actually all this all right. Are we all playing that now Cool this doesn't happen very often. We're all in the same game seriously. Yeah it's great. I played through chapter one last night. Barely started chapter two when my son decided he was done with this whole sleeping thing. So that's all I want to play. You don't have to slam anymore. But I can't play when he's awake Sam. That's the problem. What about that little rocker that you have next to the game console? He looks looks. It is true it is true that you have the small window of time where he can't move around yet so just face them away from the TV. But we're we're well past that yes anyway. I can't speak to as much. I liked the first chapter. It's very very linear very hand holding. You don't really get freedom to do much but from what I got to experience the combat system. I liked it bouncing back and forth between the characters Tina. You're much further along than anybody. What what do you think of? I think I'm in chapter eight or nine actually now And I'm obsessed with it and this is actually exactly the game that I want in quarantine where it's super lengthy. There's a storyline that I think hook onto some of the dialogue is laughable or not the dialogue but like the character dynamics between each other. It's just like cheesy friendships. But some of them are cute and fun in their occasional dialogue moments. That are funny to End The combat is good. I've seen a lot of people talk about how it's kind of confusing at first. So it's interesting David your early on but you're enjoying it. Maybe it's just People used to the term based structure more than that but I think it melds the two really well especially if like if you know final coming into it. And you don't have to learn about things like the All the magic abilities that you have or summons and what that stuff means like how some of those like upgrade systems work. It's much easier just to jump in and not have to learn all of that Independently of anything else. So I'm familiar with Real easy for me and it was really nice to kind of jump back into those familiar structures so I think I think one of the things that I would love to have infancy. Seven is what Dragon Age had. Which is the tactics ability so you can go in and actually premier companion members and how what their behaviors are in accordance to what battle scenarios there

What to Expect from 'Lord of the Rings: Gollum'

"I totally forgotten that this Lord of the Rings Column Game had been announced early last year. Same Lord of the Rings. Ghalem a game where you play as column based on the books not the movies in a Prequel to Lord of the Rings The update this week. We've got some game playing some information about the game. This week is also confirmed for places and five and Xbox in twenty twenty one confirmed Nexgen Platform. So what are some of the details yet. Well let's see here We don't gone is GonNa look like obviously not gonNa look like Indie Circus's version of dumb. They mentioned in that early illustrations of gallon. where he's huge like shop thing much Fisher told edge edge magazine that Tolkien didn't have a size reference for them? To begin with so in the first illustrations he's gigantic like a monster. Emerging from the swamp cool token like revise is that. I'm sure I'm sure. Oh wait a minute what also is it up to Tolkien. Here's a big Gomez. Yeah he was a hobbit. Yeah we talking talking about in these early in these early illustrations. He hadn't determine that he was hobbit yet. Don so that's a good point but there's a whole like the weibring up for something like Star Wars is the whole story group that's helping to side with cannon and what's not but with Lord of the rings it's like anybody could just paint whatever they wanted. Yeah that's true that's true. Yeah yes bipedal. It'll creature out the window. I hope it's I hope it's a riddle generator. That's the game. Yeah you know what I hope. It's going to be a fishing in a fishing. I love fishing game. I'm sure there will be fishing moments. I hope how else how else you exactly. Luckily you love just fishing. If not fishing mini games you love the fishing games like bass master. Yes I was going to mention the Black Bass and the Blue Marlin brand. Yes this great. Those guys are great. Yeah we are. They can't can't tell if serious no love fishing. RPG's big fan. They have such a strong fishing. If if you go to different lakes and use a boat if so wait. I'm sorry if I missed this. Who is the developer of the data? Data Lick So. That's not warner brothers. No because Warner Brothers has the right to the movies. The move gains based on the movie shadow of war isn't n specifically they WANNA to move away. They are using they use. Peter Jackson's version of knowledge Okay all right we know that in ORCs look like ORCs in the as In this game so it's data look entertainment which they've made a bunch of games that I've never heard of he's like did you did you. We were talking about so they said there's decision making in this game which all games have like dialogue decision making on the Duma or not Damon Telltale game Telltale style game. And I think it's just going to be an action game with segments. I dated has made point and Click Adventures. I think that's kind of what they're known for. Click like you know if it's a Prequel who knows what it gone. We're going to get but he doesn't lend himself to like you know action need three world still sure it could be like like almost daily Stealth Ish game yeah. I don't think it's going to be like gallon. Like throttling a bunch of people and infiltrating base. But I think it'd be cool if you're like avoiding you know stuff stuff obstacles and then maybe exploration I mean he can he can basically move vertically on walls he it could be a climate uncharted mccollum. Gholam a good way to sir. John's like that's like a combination of climbing puzzles. Yes and throttling gum hiding all the triggers an internal final dialogue options Gome should absolutely be able to climb everything. That's what he does and fish. We blame as deep into his corruption by the one ring and he conveys a different set of emotion than those seen in the films because he needs to be more sympathetic and relatable because you're playing his his care changing the character to fit your interests. He's fairly senior Eh. Things that cute song sneakers. But he's a betrayer and Taylor's we can expect stealth Alf gameplay dual personality mechanic huge levels so that doesn't sound like one click adventure huge levels in a move away from the violence. The dominance other Lords utterings games lord of the rings plural is shadow lords of the ring. If this takes place between the Hobbit and Lord of the rings that's an era in which ghalem goes to more door gets captured word gets tortured gets captured again by Era Gorn when he set free goes to Merck quilt. You go into more detail this. This is interesting okay. So we're explained this to me yesterday. Yesterday you want me to go into more detail and year thirty thirteen We know that the bill meets Ghalem and yeah gets gets the ring from him. Yeah so then. At that point a gallon is like whoa. You Know He. He knows that there's a thing called the Shire and he knows what that there's half lanes and that WHO baggins begins right and we know that because in the very beginning of ordering seen the movies he's shouting that it'd be well being tortured and and more door and that's because he he leaves and he goes to try to figure out where his ring is and at some point he gets captured and taken and tortured. But then Sarah and says you probably try to trick us and they're not giving us all this information but you did give give us this great information that there's somebody in bags in the shower or whatever the show in the movie goes Shire back in. They all the black. Riders are repeating so then Then he uses gallon because they think like. Oh we'll just follow them and he'll lead us right to at some point in their duck alum talks to she. She blob probably and stuff like that. I don't know because then he has a relationship but she later you know where you can say like. Eat these hobbits and we'll make a deal. But then he goes to to to He gets captured by airborne and they want to interview him at that point because they know he had something to do with the ring again. That's trying to figure out what the one if it's the one ring or not but she doesn't realize for a long time he knows it's ring a power. There's there's eleven of them or whatever so that will happen again. Stopped me when I'm going too far Oh I'm just trying to give geographic sense of where gallon could go then. He goes to to be captured by the ELVES. And Merck would and there's a battle there's the There's a the sirens. Dark forces are like you know in Merck. Would at that time and all the stuff happening so there could be a battle sequence in this too but then gallon gets out and then somehow he meets up with the fellowship in under the misty mountains in the minds Maurier. So that means he's probably released for you. He's a ski escapes escapes in the turmoil or something from recruited and during that battle and then he comes across in his lost and maybe more effort longtime because he just comes upon them then and that's that's the point which he joins wins the hunt for the ring again. This is all happening before the game supposed to be set before all that stuff. Yes yes so. I think this would lead up to the point in which he's maybe in market or something like that add maybe it ends with him like finding the fellowship probably doesn't make sense Yeah I guess it would make sense. He's lost the ring so that's why he's on a quest to try and get. Yeah exactly I think that could be the motivation if it's before that if it's when he has the ring like it could be about him like losing the ring in the cave and just trying to find it because he lost and then before that which I don't think it would be it'd be him finding the ring being corrupt and kicked out of the village and all that stuff which they also seem to allude to the fact that like through these narrative decisions that you're making within the dialogue as you're single versus column that you can arrive at an ending that's more leaning towards one personality over the others that kind of gives an idea of what the story might be or at least what the ending room gone has technically a happy ending because he gets that rain and it's just yes second or two. Yeah well spoilers We my favorite part of that whole Lord dumped by the way. Is that in when you saw the hobbit movies which are terrible but they expand a lot on this in the books golic just disappear. Excuse me Gandalf just disappears from the book and then he comes back in like a hundred pages later is like Oh sorry I had to go take down this neck. Romance her in the forest and then he's just back in the book. It's not a part of the story story. It's never addressed again when you're a child reading this book. What what just happened like he kicks he kicks out of Merck? Would and it happens off off camera and the book it's insane. Yeah he like fleas. I think even showed that a little bit in the hobbit movies Dayton whole subplot in. But that's what they're talking about. Well so what's your impression of this Looking about the comments a lot of people were like why would I want to play his column in a game of any guarantee and Lord of the Rings would I want to be going. Well certainly sets you in like more of Steph environment airman. So that's cool. It's different than the shadow of war or more door games that we played. I think he's really interesting negatively. But it's the game play you know. I don't know there's there's a reason that those games are like sword and board. That's a very established format for making a successful fund. Video game now has been like a kind of a controversial addition to the Lord of the Rings Really Creepy. And I don't really you know it's really Peter. Jackson did a lot with that character to make it. I think more fleshed out an interesting resting than I ever thought of in the books and I think that's a really good thing so I'll do that. It'd be great also a credit to Andy Circus and you know my policy on elves. And everything. Only tolkien's allowed to use those. Yeah that's elves and hobbits especially if those are in other things come on how lame up with your own stuff. How lame are the ELVES pitcher? Yeah Oh my God. Nobody does not the half lanes man. They're they're in the game that's like nobody else can do hobbits but they cheat by having hassling. Yeah aw come up with your own fantasy stuff. I agree it's not as bad. I can't even talk about the witcher though because later episodes knows of other bad things anyway. Lord of the Rings Column Coming 2021. PS Five xbox series x alongside.

"Okay my next one and this one i feel like this is the actor it's probably one of the greatest actors of his generation and does not get the hat tip for it and that is andy circus and here's why so any circus transforms and people might argue that well he lays lee transforms because he's playing non human characters but i think for what used to be you just put on a costume and you played chewbacca no offense to the guy and guys who played you buck but like what andy circa says is a whole other level of like i believed ghalem was a real person like and not in viewed by an animator or by an effects person i felt like what was done in that role was amazing like i really felt like the whole time andy circus is volun like to understand what else any circus has done he's been caesar in planet of the eight he has been cong and king kong he was snoop in smart star wars he what we and he's going to be balu in the new moakley and so like we get a lot of idea of well he can only do that he can't he can do more i like my first experience of him really isn't actor knowing like oh there's andy circus was in thirteen going on thirty which i loved he might an editor saying tastic but he also was do you remember him when he played alley in the prestige he played david bowie's henchman was so yeah he was so good in that that small role and so i'm excited because any circus playing ulysses claw in the black panther and then previously in the adventures he is having the best time in that film like the best and he so good he so unexpected he makes choices that i think are unusual in just want such excess for him and so for him to be able to both play humans and non humans and do it to the caliber that he.

"We've gone from the beginning of performance capture to the point when we now have wolf with plenty of the apes and you're watching andy circus performing aziza and you'll no longer even seeing the the digital imagery you just thinking that's a great performance by andy circus i remember you and i having a conversation in which i was going which good you mees golam oregon pathologist say what i don't on the show and then watching the behind the scenes video for the first time saying performance capturing going really while i tip amastonished now we just take it for granted and andy circus did talk about this very early on but it's just acting with dna with different costumes different techniques and obviously the technical sort of it is absolute perfect meld of performance skill and technical wizardry and i am not the first person to say it i think he should be nominated i think he deserves the nomination because he is at the forefront of this thing which has changed the face of cinema in a much more so than this idea about resurrecting stalls who passed away by getting there in a digital surmount this is that they seized than the new emergent cinematic formed circuses front of and i think he's been the film itself i think he's good and solid and impressively dark considering than his blockbuster movie that is currently at number one on this is not the kind of stuff that you normally expect from this kind of a franchise putting internet a very well the only thing i'd like to say is i would still want to fly the flag for the original tenant the x movies which are better than people have given them credit for.

"Just the way this movie is that doesn't have any apes in it it's all human beings with dots on their faces and he says it's the exactly the same movie yet he said also that what they do the process that they go through is yes there are bunch of artists that you know do the stuff but what he does and why this movie let lives so long in post is because every shot in the movie he sits down with the effects team and he watches at sidebyside with andy circus and steve's on all the actors the cut of the movie that he has already cut with the actors in it he watches it sidebyside every shot and he goes you see what andy's eyes are doing their how come caesars is aren't doing that how do we get andy's at caesars eyes to do it and the all he is he said all that they try to do is translate the exact performance that the actors are doing which i'm not trying to take sides during i'm just saying that's really interesting bit of information about how the process is done and i think that's a an extraordinary he he's very adamant in his answers at the qna that i saw at least that what you're seeing is no different than a lens of a camera picking up an an actor eroded by distorting the image because what the lens does he they're trying to capture the actor through a different kinds of lens right of and the amount of artistry required and how much he animators actually have say over the that i think is an open question.

"I was astounded by what they did there and i think that movie kinda goes and more conventional route of lake giving us a bad guy who was really interesting to um and like having that big showdown this movie kind of avoids all that in an interesting way to like this is an anti blockbuster this movie just the fact that matt reeves uh in his raiders were able to get away with this particular review article that exists and that it takes so many in many ways yeah and it succeeds in in a pretty much all of what it tries to accomplish it can it gets everything ray gets character beats rate because we we feel for caesar in what he's going through here on it gets a the series is always had like a great allegorical history some of the sequels didn't quite who live up to that very well uh but just even from the first movie like bearer political ideas going on i love how this movie kinda keeps that going like this is the blockbuster here we kinda need to describe the world today and like what humanity can descend into you it's a it almost feels like a big flashing red warning sign on yeah i just loved everything and a is kind of interesting to that we're seeing andy circus making the talk show rounds july publicity around the idea that bit it's him it is his face like they're they're mapping a lot of it and the artists the lars you have to do some like step at the end but he is really trying to push the idea that you know this is his performance on i yeah i could see this movie doing some amazing things if uh dreamy oscars like a it'd be nominee for things beyond just special effects and i hope so like i will we.

"Could get through that home it'll deliver big time in and i'm seeing the here if andy circus bolted emotion that he brings as well as the attitude and and just the hutu spa that comes with the caesar in this film if he doesn't get nominated for this film i don't know that inadequate one big now really believe in that i don't know that he will you know look he's a he's sort of a special effects actor he was known for ghalem and the lord of the railings in obviously has been great in these movies i'm not sure you're gonna see the academy han randy circus but you can't see the emotion through his facial movements in his eyes in the you know the the one thing i would agree with you on here yet for a war movie there's a lot of analyst honestly downtime it's just a lot of development of the story and i was drawn in i really was drawn in by a lot of this and there were too many times where i thought they were headed in the direction that i didn't think was interesting i also like to look at the you know the watched too often during a movie i knew this movie going in was about two hours in i'd say twenty minutes thing it's to twenty and at one point i looked at my found just see what time it was knows only about twenty minutes left in the moving i thought wow that that's gone by very quickly so i always think that that's a good sign this is a recommendation in mean if you've never seen gene these plant of the absolute the lease in the recent reincarnation i wouldn't start with this one but for fans of the franchise made five million last night last may seven seven the worldwide that's pretty good you know you're pushing up toward a billion dollars certainly over billion dollars for the first two films not a disappointment at all no definitely not and and the the defence circus even further as we look for actors to be calm the character they are any circuits becomes caesar here and that is really important you've got a great foil and woody harrelson though i mean the two of them work well together it's an aminus b plus movie for me going to give it be plus how one of the release this weekend wish upon what.

"A apes these kind of you know genetically nino heightened apes who can now talk and have other sort of abilities the comparable to humans go to war with humans and then the third one takes place sort of i guess is sort of in the middle of that war sorta toward tail end of it and so that's not cherry stuff at all um you know which can be make for hard viewing but there's something really classically just dramatic about them they have these that the stakes feel really heavy and really with a high in well realized and and you really not rooting for the humans by the way you're you're you know the apes are are are absolutely the protagonists especially in the third film and that would sort of via disaster if the special effects um you know it's a lot of motion capture performance with the apes if the special effects weren't up to to snuff but they really are and you know i'm not a huge cgi advocate my like practical effects and things like that but in this case i mean what they're able to do is like wizardry it's really incredible you know andy circus is is placed the lead a chimpanzee caesar a and they just ring these incredibly emotional performance as out of these computer creations will they're sort of hybrid between them a human performance and a computer thing and so yeah they just had this really ernest kind of old fashioned heft to them there's nurse no real cintas administer no real sort of ironic detachment or anything like that it's either very earnest they're very straightforward and they tell a really big story that wall not happy at is is pretty compelling.

"Buti think of going back to where we started it's been great to see the amount of gross with our text this year uh and i think probably the biggest surprise i didn't know about it until we publicly announced it was the fact that andy circus came and that we had a screening of war for the planet of the apes at which absolutely crazy i guess your eyes went give tranceiv screening but absolutely super excited you did you guys go now ididdidiididaqna with a right any circus in jolo ilitary the visual effects supervisor for the movie and it's just like it's so knots because you know you look at like would say joy eighthranked the 8th at yes or tomorrow night tomorrow is the 35th anniversary of a movie called tron which was the first movie to really feature computer visual effects and yeah it's awesome and we all love it but it's lousy i mean it's like they were rendering computer graphics when they couldn't even see what they were working on until the rendered out the frame it was all just like math acquisionts i read the light bikes would just done by typing numbers into the program and then they had to see if actually worked out like they imagined it happened see what they were doing it's mental yeah until they rendered i can't even imagine that now ever take hours yepand now you can get like an 80 pre visual before deputies render it you just rendered for affects and things like that but yet so then is crazy and you go see a war for the plenty age and it comes out next week so unspoiled anything he's funny because i was doing the qna with 80 circus.
