"I go. Good, but that's literal. I want to go everywhere and literally eat everything. I will try any food if it is. I've eaten things that aren't even food like on dares. So I'm willing to eat anything culture. What eat one thing I regret that lead make me which didn't make it was just like, how am I not gonna eat this? If it's there like it's presented in front of me, but what was that horse shoshee me and Japan. Yeah, yeah, we went to Japan was reading. We ate the squid. Yeah, you guys went to Japan and create a gather that can only imagine what that eating are would be like it was. So it was. And then another buddy of mine who had not met. I think before the and my buddy was like me and my buddy had gone to Europe together like the year before this we were doing. We're going on a trip once a year together and we went and we got back and he will regularly message me like the way you guys travel because it's all just food. And then what you're doing in between food and then food was no. He was like, this is the best. I can't believe I haven't been doing this. H I went to Barcelona for the first time this year, and it's literally the culture. Excuse me. The culture is walk somewhere eat and drink their walked to another place drink, and it's like snacks and cocktails was like e topless than chase the sandwich spot. The funny spot moving. We're gonna eat at this sandwich about that's in this neighborhood. It's cool. Let's stop at these four bars and on the way there. Yeah, we would get. We ate dinner at like eleven PM three nights and because we were just so full like dinnertime get down to southern Spain at all? No. Okay. Just in Barcelona, I think the greatest thing in the world. What's that that is go to any bar in southern Spain, kind of it's not profitable so are phasing it out. But for decades, if you order a drink, the order drink, get him free top. So it's just like you're just ordering drinks, but you're, you're getting full and it's just like some of the best food and like the meal gets the meal can't stop getting better, right, right there. There was a place in Williams where called crocodile lounge or it was alligator lounge and then crocodile lounge was the one in the east village that when you bought a pint of beer gave you a free personal pizza that they cooked and their pizza oven. I would never be going home being like I had six years and six. And I, I would wake up in the morning ways like so hung over and my mouth shredded from just like just the top of your mouth to rally executives buying the the hard crust and the super hot cheese jamming in my mouth after fucking every pint God, we barely talk about barbecue, but we ate so much by req-, holy shit guys. This was fantastic thrill. This is so awesome. And now I'm looking forward to going onto your podcast, whatever the hell garbage. Upbring kings Hawaiian. Stinky tofu sandwich, smear, light, mayo. "And then I went to elite, which is a place and it is like literally, I felt like I was in another country. Probably China. I was like pointing at the menu and they were like, just giving me thumbs up and coming back with it. Getting yourself over to a restaurant is a very helpful thing for having great meals, like not being afraid somebody of tell me exactly what this is. If you can just put your faith like be told, this is a great restaurant. Let them tell you what to eat here. I'm almost comfortable telling telling someone like, look, I make decent money. I'm sure you're not gonna like gouge me, but look, we eat a lot and like I'm very open with the waiters. I'm always like, so is this like especially now with this movement towards like it's four to shared plates per person or whatever. And I'm like, look, we eat more than a lot of other people eat specifically more like, look at my gut and my eyes. Is huge is are very read about to eat, whatever to me. So what should we get? And then I'll make insane order and then always ask the waiter. Are we missing anything that we would be upset? And I, I, I don't even give fuck like eat every meal. Like I'm going to the electric chair right after. A lot of Filipino food on here. No, I have. That is one of the trends that I just think Filipino food is crazy. Good. Oh, yeah, I'm into it. I, I bet I would believe based on regionality making yet champ. Yeah. So that's that would be one of the trends. The restaurant. I need to go to behi- Kuba which is so close to me parks, finest barbecue if you've ever awesome. That is it's a barbecue. American barbecue Filipina fusion restaurant been around in LA forever. I only went for the first time like two weeks ago and it was good shit. It's great how good buds shadow. Gene Cordeiro is Filipino and is always talking about Philipino food. And I'm like, it sounds like it's perfect for me. A little more sour, but it's great. I just went to Maui and with my wife and I fucking love the Hawaiian food. I love that. I could go to a the roles of the things they put on their own. Align roles, grilled cheese. Look, I'm hollow man eating a loaf of bread at the beach. I like all these wind grocery store. I like going to get to the deli and getting polka and masugi and being like just every supermarket, having mom s poke sitting out like the way we have tuna salad at. They have poke at the Ralph's near me. In general, it's not for me. It's too big. It's not my thing. I know that, but people are like, oh, I'm gonna get this. You're gonna get it at the grocery stores and like this isn't a Wii Ralph's next to the pre cooked shrimp get outta here. I just made the leap to like Gilson sushi in the last year, twenty years in. Exactly move is let it be around for ten years being done by froze before the grocery stores and then what's another. I don't know if it's good university for our country, but I have enjoyed the artisanal ice cream trend here. I've been LA for decades now and it used to be a dearth of ice cream. It's a dearth of anything that's sort of like naughty, right? And that that's shifting in LA. Now people like l. as not just hiking juices anymore. Now getting a foodie scene, and I think, but the thing is this artisanal stuff. I think the way they light up the l. a. buji hippie life is that it's like it's all natural ingredients is all you need to hear if I'm gonna have ice cream and might as well be creams yoga, and this rather than like Ben, Jerry bend Jerry's bombed too, and doesn't have that many fucking any ice cream. I'm a real monster when it comes to. I don't eat sweets really. But ice cream is the one that I will break for, you know, and. Master food is far like I'll eat crazy stuff like we had. "For fucking hours. But the shit dude, she makes such bomb food stuffing is my favorite food that I try to limit myself to eat. Like for four days a year around thanksgiving. It's. Stuffing is sausage or no sausage sausage, like what's missing farms on their November two members, sandwiches kale, stuffing. That is unreal sandwich. Just with that stuff, it's called November to remember everything is a special that is the best place you say Brits Mendocino forms? Yeah. Oh, yeah, they, I think I've had that there. That's a good sandwich yet. I've never been sausage. I'm might ooh, always tres in. Yeah, I don't know about that. I don't hate that, but I don't know about pro sausage. Crumbly sauce. Really? Yes. I guess sounds good. Yeah, just never. It's you can barely even see it really when it's an air, but you know, and you can taste it when you're like, ooh, that was bred n. meet in one bite. It's the best. Yes, stuffing is sweat bread at it's so good. Gravy on and you can eat by the mall. No-one isn't what stuffing. We did a beer bread, stuffing. Yeah, we did a beer breads hitting giving. We did a thanksgiving, my house like two weeks early. So the technical friends giving? Yeah. Kind of against now you really think it ruins things giving really? Yeah. Okay. Ruins the actual day because I've had everything already. Yeah, I think I think if you're having giving in lieu of, yes, that's true. But he made it. Yeah. Here, Brad, what's beer brand breads, a quick bread that's just beer, baking powder and flower. Like let it go stale. It had gone. He'd had he'd made it a like a giant thing that, yeah, we just hosted on we. We made it croutons out of it, then made it. That's awesome. Bread. That's something we don't make in this house ever. Yeah, I just got into it because I bought east four thing for the show, and then it was like, we'll have yeast. I guess I have to make cinnamon rolls. I gotta go by cinema. Everything else, but at least I have the us. Yeah, but it's actually really fun if because I work from home right now, so it's great like, oh, I have time to do something for thirty minutes. Leave it for two hours right back to it, and it kind of smells like you're really feels like you're really making something which is nice. Oh, that's. Bills the house kind of this beer? Yeasty thing. It's good. I bake my bacon. So that's like, yeah. When you said you're really good at breakfast, I was like, I wonder if he makes his AAC because that's the way to do bake my bag only. And now I've got, I've got like a grill piece that goes in the tray. So that doesn't sit in its own. And it sort of comes out and it's with thick, cut bacon. It really hits. That's my favorite like that. Texture of like thick cut bacon when the fat has left, but the like it's almost like the like the just the tiny bit of cells that held the fat in place and when you bite into it and it explodes kind of is my favorite thing. Yeah, the best. So fucking here. We are having a lot of smoke pork just shouting about other well. Yeah, this is my like, like what me and my wife do literally every single day and night is eat a meal. While talking about other meals, we liked at a restaurant for the first time having never eaten on rushing back. This place is so bombed. Ooh, where else we gotta go? Oh, do you remember how good the wings were at this place? Do you know what I've been getting into? And I'm starting to think I might have a job opportunity for you guys. Some pop up like restaurants and events. My friends, Wendy, and shrewdly at when you're hungry. These these ladies are amazing cooks and they fire up like a random event like once a month and that and they're just like, hey, we're doing thing here at this place where cooking out we, they each tackle, like one major dish and throw. But recently they've also got into making infused like weed infused this. Yeah, I just I just went someone at fat birds in east LA and they made like three fat birds that by the way fry very good chicken, the drive we talk with them for the show. We've talked chitlins which is scary. I don't mind if it's meet..

"Meat is a carcinogen. Is a carcinogen. There's this whole half, you're like, oh, the barbecue, so good. And it's just like grilled meat covered and stuff. Yeah, sure. That's not do too much research. That's not pork. Speaking of, yeah. I mean, I smoke weed everyday, so I don't think I can get on a high horse about pulled pork. That's the real. The worst person in the world is the one who's I don't have an objection to the animals. I would love to eat more cow, but. You just boil it just have it boiled. I think roasted Turkey is my number three of smoked for all. Good, great. The only problem with the fried is what do you do? You get a gravy problem? Yeah. Fresh make gravy. Yeah, right. By separate Turkey parts, and then you're buying two or four turkeys. Well, I think I think if you're if you're doing thanksgiving, if you're hosting and you're frying Turkey, I think you need to have a roasted Turkey of backups. That's usually the two options. Maybe three, my friends, family. Oh, throw, fuck and ham on. They're not gonna complete a friend's family, deep fried Turkey for fourth of July, and they did it like the pot is like boiling oil. They dropped like sticks, you know, like people like people drop it in limbo, stick. Fucking cool. Is held a lot. I what's fun. I my, we bought one my family year like their fryer broke, and they tried to buy an air fryer for Turkey, which is a nightmare. It's just like flames around a Turkey. It's the worst thing in the world, and we couldn't get it hot enough because the wind was blowing, and that was like, all right. Let's just let's just go get another one. And we eat at eight PM. On the on Thanksgiving Day of trying to buy a Turkey that people stores like, are you going to fucking kidding? Turkey's left. Pies. We have is, but I need one for the ride. A little trafficky out there. I could take a pie to the dome on the run back. We are gearing up for we're getting right into my favorite season which is like this holiday heat, the worst. My wife and I host thanksgiving here, her family, her mom and dad fly out for it, and she really goes to town. She makes every dish and she, she's a very good cook and she likes to do it. The one thing she'll tell you that she doesn't have is speed. Yeah. Like it's like a process and she doesn't mind that she likes to sip wine, listen to podcasts or music and cook.

"Right? Because that's what the few times I've tried to. I tried to make ribs and a slow cooker. I've never had a grill because I've lived in an apartment my whole life and I never had a smoker. So I tried to smoke, make ribs and a slow cooker and ended up. They were fucking amazing. But they were literally like I reach into grab one and just pulled the bone out, and I was like, oh, so I ended up having like rib lit stew or whatever, but it was fucking. Sure that sounds close. So close to Brunswick stew, which is perhaps my favorite all time show. That's like, I can't imagine because I'm from places where we had lots of space like I don't live in an apartment like a real, the Jit you go inside to go into a department until I moved here. So I can't imagine like not having access. I mean now I don't. I barely have access. It's like this is on an electric smoker on a back porch. Just like almost nearly. Oh, well, I remember in Brooklyn shadow to Justin Tyler. We had a fucking a buddy of mine. We had a grill on fire scheme. And the fire department just like we look out and he's like four or five minutes street Gant. Sorry. It's literally for a scaping fire and putting on it. Fair enough really wanted. I don't want that building burn down, but I want in that moment, people to have to leave out the dec-. Out of the frying pan into the. Yorker writer. Right? Zach our tune, I'll say this because it hasn't heard me say this for a long time os into YouTube channel called chef steps, and they make a jewel, which is a. Jingsu feed machine, which I own think is useful and has its place, but the longtime, like part of getting the smoker was wanting to make more and more. Ribs, and they do their own apartment ribs, which involve a sufi machine running water circulating at a temperature, and then they put in liquid amino 's. Nitrates to get the fake smoke ring and liquid smoke, and the more we've done this, the more that does upset me for a long time. That was a sticking point between us. I was like, this has its merit. And now I, I. Smoke a pork, but in our oven for the derby every year and we will use liquid smoke for that. But then my friends who the guy did all the smoking, his in-laws, like got him a smoker. And it was like game changer so different. Yeah, I'm fine with liquid smoke. That's fine. Yeah, it's gross how they make it. Yeah, that's it's weird when you like open it and you're like, wait, what is this. Yeah, ran my laundry campfire just they have a water circulator above smoker literally just like it's like a pan of water. Put a pan of water in a smoker, run smoke on it for a long time for that water and then reduce it, and that's, that's good smokey. It's there's a different ways, but that's like if you wanna make it at home, like making our that's less artificial than pictured. I mean, that's how we like. I've used it for stuff before, but like that's the basic idea, right? I always go smoke salt, which most people don't use and fuck. Hella good, smoke salt on a cookie. I love smokes. I do. I do smoke salt on my wings after at once. They're right before they go into the broiler. I love smoke salt. Yeah, I put that on. I use that instead of salt on pretty much everything. Now I just did it on broccoli yesterday. This is the, I feel like in a big way smoking is replacing deep fry like so for thanksgiving, people always like, oh deep fry. Your Turkey guy had a deep fried Turkey was fired. There's been a weird twist where now the sudden people like, you know smoked Turkey is really good, and it's, it's this weird like people are just slowly. Everything's becoming smoke that used to be fried and it's because it's like it is healthier or less unhealthiest the best way to phrase that, well, I don't know. It was a smoked Turkey or a Turkey healthier roasted Turkey, I think smoked would be no different. Really. We'll probably lose more fat. Right? But then the flip side of this and this is a true thing is smoked..

"It's not. I didn't sound like it was for me, and then I fucking love. It sounds my girlfriend. Put it on. She might get upset what she'll do biscuits and sausage gravy, and then also put like another biscuit with grape jelly and then kind of eat them at the same time. I am on board, looked at me look like you were gonna be. We put a smear of fig jam on my day after thanksgiving. By the way, the day after thanksgiving sandwich is my favorite food sandwich. As a matter of fact, it's usually the eleven pm on thanksgiving. And mayo, integral ingredient, Whitebread integral ingredient. But now my wife spreads a little fig jam little regular on there. Yeah, she's a little bit cranberry sauce. Krikorian fig. I think for me, it's you go cranberry and gravy, or you go fig and Regula for like a fresher sort of like. Yeah, like this on the heavy ripped defend bomb with mashed potatoes of the sandwich. God, I love the fucking thanksgiving sandwich. It's the gablers from Supriyadi. I was in Vegas and they still have those there. And I was like, do I book and stop do? Is this what I get. No, it'll you'll end your day. It'll kill you, dude. That's funny, you say and your day, that's how I talk about all my favorite meals. I can't eat them into relaxed. I can't eat them into. It's like the end of my day. Taco Bell, Chinese, traditional New York, Chinese food and like heavy barbecue on Mike over this. I got my work done this morning almost blew off working out today because my wife just left town and I'm like, well, just get stoned all morning and watch a movie and then eat barbecue at one o'clock with these guys. And then I was like, fuck, you should go exercise when swam, a bunch of apps. And now I feel completely comfortable in in core djing. If you end up behaving Arthur, you will get. If you could end up Abe. I think I had one of these guys on those are the sauce ones. Those are giant. Yes. I'll live. These were, oh shit to pull the veil BAC. So on my birthday, which was in July and July, I bought these ribs. They've been frozen. Doing. I got super drunk on my birthday at had by Fred, drop me off at rally at eleven at night because I do they're having a sale and. So I drug had like a piece of traits legit skate more. And I'm like, not like I'm birthday drug. I'm a mess. Start and he'd our cooking bronze. No, it's I got. I got it. Yeah, I would. I love that that you know the clerks are still talking about that. And I remember when that dude came your book and shit face and left with a bunch of ribs and the real problem. Booze, but with me. I wonder if he's still alive, he'll be didn't eat those. Me said they also know whether or not I've gotten shit done in the morning because it's like, am I obviously in pajamas still walked over there or my like together. Yeah. And so the those review Brian for like six, seven hours about as far as you can go, and then we can't Brian more than that. Oh, you get mushy..

"Sleep with duct tape over my asshole. I'll eat the food. I cook poorly, where I messed this up as opposed to dump it. Oh, it's still edible, not throwing it out. The only time with our show where I threw stuff that was like when we ate Nado just because like I can't eat that again. It's Japanese soybean. Oh, it's like, is that like stinky tofu equivalent issue because ferments warm ferments for like a day with a spore and it's so then what wanna king's Hawaiian tied to the lion. But yeah, I like head to through that like I don't enjoy it, but I'll eat more of the Nottage eat. I don't wanna see stuff go to ways. I'll, yeah, I'm the same. We're all adults. Yeah. So excited by a thirty percent off sticker on chicken way more than I should like that level of enthusiasm. I don't have so many other aspects of my life. She I'm a little bit boozier now. I guess I'm a little probably a little older than you guys. And now me and my wife actually make pretty good money and we don't have kids. So I'm sort of like my thing is like, let me go to like the grove farmers market me guys, and I'm like, I'm not even looking at the price. I'm just looking at like, ooh, apple would cherry wood smoke. Bake him try that. Yeah, and I'm just like, I, that shit appeals to me and I always like my dad do stuff like that growing up, even though we were poor, he would still be like, I got twelve frozen Schakowsky. There's like this burger place that he loved, and he's like in the freezer. Let me know if you wanna burgers one night, and I'm like, that's so fucking weird that now I'm that guy. Totally. I like my thing is I like having a guy like I just got on a first name basis. With the dude at my Ralph's the guy like we've known each other, he knows them up. Names are Mondo. Okay. And he's read and I'm like yet dude now, like I walk up and his like, oh, what are you making barbecue today? What do you make it? And I'm like, yes. What's up. All the coal cut guys at the Brooklyn foods. Because they were all I was coca, get sandwiches made there all the time. But specifically they're all like New York, Yankee, giant Guindos like my son. So I walk into walking guy, fuck interception. Let me get this. Those were, might people see them on the street and they would like give me my neighbors would be like, who is that? The daily guy, we got communities talking about. I'm into it. Bastard, holy shit, guys. This is fantastic. Now this this pork on the bucket kings dipped in the sauce. You know you're in the you're on the right way. Scared. I think this sauce is David is I think that's the one I like more. That's okay. I mean, you're wrong, but that's. Can I ask you this? Where do you stand on grape? Jelly. Do you hate it? I love it. I like grape jelly. I don't shoot a reasonable. I don't eat it like often. But if you give me peanut butter and jelly, I love him toast and jelly. You know where jellies closet. Amazing on a bacon egg and cheese. What trust me I'm in and I don't know if I'm being casually racist. When I say this, I was when I was on when I was on wild and out a lot of the black dudes eight, they're big in New York City, bacon egg and cheese, or such a big thing. And usually SBK salt pepper ketchup. But a couple of the black dudes we're eating. I mean, couple everyone on the show is black except me. But a couple of the other guys were eating the baggage with grape jelly. And I was like, that sounds crazy. And then I think it was my friend, Kelly who was like a hair and makeup person was like, well, catch-up is tomato. Jelly and I'm like, oh my God. Yeah, it is. It's just sweet. And so then I try to bacon egg cheese, like one smear of grape jelly and who holy sounds good. Yeah, it's I didn't think it would work..

"Like we, we were, we were poor and it was a lot like my parents work nights and we're gonna lot. So it was like twenty dollars for pizza about a sandwich nights. A lot of like, I don't even eat pasta with red sauce anymore. If unless it's like at an Italian restaurant, because that's what we just ate for like every it's very cheap to feed five people and it's like, put on this. You can make a pot of sauce. Free make a gallon of sauce, freeze it and just boils Ravs or whatever. That's all I ate growing up. As a matter of fact, I never even had fresh vegetables and I didn't even know that that was an issue until my wife whose father was a cook, owned a restaurant and his her mom is a bomb coke to and worked at that restaurant. So when I started dating her, they were like constantly going to like the market day of to get stuff or like, hey, I'm making veal scaloppini tonight, and and I'm just like a guy who likes most foods and because I got into. Restaurants and stuff in college with my wife. That's why I had Thai food. That's right. I had sushi and then I would just go to and I'd be like, she's like, you never even had what we have lettuce tomatoes for like coca sandwiches. She's like, but what about like beings gimme at cans or frozen? I didn't even know it like came in. There is a, I think that's like your experiences rather way more American in general. I do a lot of all shop day of, but I can walk to my grocery store the it is one hundred percent. The wall leave my house today, and I will move my leg. I saw walk over there and then I'll do the back and then I'll buy too much while I got some taking five dollars. Yeah, I I lived in Brooklyn for a long time. So that was like the stop at the market from the subway to your house life. And that was the best where like tiff would like my wife would just I'd be like, dad, clams and I got clams claims for that forces you shop almost exclusively by the weekly ad says you to move to do stuff, right? So you don't think you're going for like, oh, this is a dollar off this today. We'll steak was five dollars for a pound, and I was like, I'll buy that and just kind of move around and I'll free stuff. I'm I've become very much alike. I have have Turkey. I can do something with that later. Weird limit level of adulthood with food where my wife like she says, now I've caught onto it too. I opened the fridge and it feels good to see a bunch of stuff. Right. And that's like, but my the worst thing for me is food waste, and I hate like produce. I'm always like, shit. I can't believe I didn't get to these this broccoli rob in time. And now it's like toast feel terrible. I'm so huge on wasting food to my own detriment like now, I have worms in my backyard for my food and it's okay if you ask us to leave. I'm just glad that the sentence has started with. I have worms ended in my backyard. Very bad about getting to me in my head. It sound like you ate a bunch of Ron food and got like a worm. To my detriment. So eight all this old cheese. Our.

"I was in like Ireland and London. Ray bomb as well. Sorry to interrupt his ribs fucking and they have all these barbecue barbecue just hit over there in a big way, but it's all like very nice, sit down. He kind of it's like, oh, you get a little bit of pulled pork and two sides, and it's all four connive and like walking away with the White House or it's very, it's way nicer than it should be. Where was this is was an Ireland also in London, EMMY my girlfriend walked into one and we were like, no, we're not. No, we're not gonna eat here. This and let was like, no, I'm all About Eve with your fucking hand. Imagine that's funny because I would imagine that would be like one Irish person was like, yeah, I went to New York City. I went to an Irish pub and they like had waiters and waitresses, and it was like TV's on the wall, and it's not a real Irish. And then like farmers are like, hey, we have an American barbecue restaurant, but it's high end. Yeah, it's. It's. Doing stuff you you're from New York if you've been to hometown barbecue? Yes. Okay. And I used to love fete sow was the place I liked. It's in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and it was. I don't even know what it's reference to f. e. space SAU and they're fucking barbecue is bomb and it's like a tray point place, but it's like Boosie because it's Williamsburg. So it's kinda history, but it is still like get up there with the train. But like how many of these, how much of this. And that's like my dream, like make my plate by pointing. The count, like you say, I want this. I want this amount weight wise, right? Yeah, three-quarter band brisket. I'm a huge fan of the brisket burns obviously at Bris brisket role. If there's some Slaw a little bit of Slaw what pickles on their brisket. That's we're talking about blood says, that's my favorite thing there that's not meet is their bread and butter pickles har- incredible. Bread and butter pickles are my favorite pickles, and I think it's because they most go well on sandwiches and barbecues, and I'm not a, I'm not a pickle dude, but I'll get into those like I won't even I won't put on. I think I'll just like, oh, some nice acid on top of this incredibly fatty meat. I mean, it's like a savory sorbet for. Just place a pickle under your tongue. Lingual. Just get those nutrients in there. It's also nice that you don't have to fake that you hate thing right now wants to. Yeah, I do take take the side of the guests. We'll just like suddenly hate the food. I like a lot of things. There's little. I don't like I'm just an path. I grew up in like kind of sheltered food household..

"Amount of brisket to serve one hundred people. Sort of like if you have the space right. Burrowing cool. We can fit a huge smoker outside and a bunch of all you need is that and sauce and chips or you have the room to do it is the real way like toss logs into thing. You really see like a big metal thing and clean great space. People who don't mind smoking can't be lined with. Yeah, can't be like a lifeguards knows. That's fuck, man. I'm so I just went to Texas with the Doboy us, not just this was like six months ago, but I had never been to Lockhart. Okay. When did I did those those three spots? They're Mueller's city. I forgot their name. It's Craig's or whatever. It's like some dudes. Isn't it something German, right? It's like, yes, yes, yes, right market. It's like a weird smell. Are you? Yeah, you're not positive how to say it, but that was some of the best barbecue. I've ever like the smokers, like on the floor and you walk in and it's like you're coughing. Immediately. Yeah, just always like, oh, this is just like a casino smellier casino is what I'm in. Yeah. The most amount of like amputee Korean war vets. I've ever seen in one place like it just felt like it was. Here. It was just like the oldest like the most old real dudes text because it's like a half. It's like forty minutes outside of Austin, and there's literally nothing else around, but these three barbecue spots. And there was just these, like all these old men and wheelchairs with like those hats that have a bunch of pins. And they were just fucking everyone was just drinking loan stars in eating house. Like, this is a, this is the place to go. There's something there's like barbecue places because there's such a like, you can look at the wall and know that it's like real because like, oh, it's it's weird Brown. Like has this vibe gimme a slice of white bread like a one's own in like a plate that drips and I'm ready to fucking go ham. That's that's like a lot of my mic speeds are similar that I would drive through barbecue on long trips through Texas and put it on the passenger seat. And then you have the white bread and I'd be like, give me like half a look. Like ethiopians. I just dip that a little bit and sauce and then into the mouth I did do. The day after Christmas this year. 'cause I was driving a car from Chicago to Los Angeles and the path you're supposed to take takes you through Nebraska, which I've done before, and I was like, there's no way I'm doing that. I'm driving who Kansas sit down. So I did a ten breakfast at Arthur Bryant's in eleven AM at its now Joe's but used to be Oklahoma jobs out of the gas station. Oh, yeah. Reginal location, location. It was very, I try to get to Wyoming from Kansas City in one day with a gut of barbecue. Fucking. Like I was going to bring two pounds of meat to a friend and only had a scant now. It was me you say. Oh, to someone else, I was going to our buddy Steven. That's fucking awesome. Let's let's talk about this barbecue sitting in front of us now because I'm getting legit like whatever the mouth version of horny is, is what I have right now. Yeah. Wait, I'm hard. One thing that we don't share a lot is taste. We like good restaurants. We like in together but are specific tastes are very different. Yeah, also much more of a when. It comes to barbecue stuff because I was raised with it. So I'm like, I'm not like that about anything else but about, I'm like, no, you don't put that. Fuck garlic powder. Get out. Do that to me last night with lacquer for one. Yeah. How about you? Don't put it on half of it and we'll see. We'll see which ones about our. So it's really fun that you guys cook that much together, which is a while because I mean you've done it to yourself. Yeah, the premise of your prison we've built. It's, yeah, it's great..

"Hundred steps. That's right. So that's like, oh. Helen Mirren not racist about both white people. Hundred steps? What is it? One hundred yard journey, something like that. But it's about like what's the next hour? Indian family. An Indian family opened up a restaurant across from Meryl Streep, who's got like a Michelin seller. I'm so happy that I mixed up the dudes, but also to. I just generally don't know things. It's not an issue. So specifically barbecue. What made you guys? I mean, obviously barbecue is like there's a weird sort of masculine tradition around it's, of course it's not just down gender lines. Anyone could cook barbecue, but the something about smoking meets in like sedan our labor outside giant hunks of animal fat and blood, not blood, but like juices, right. For me, it's all I was born in Texas and raised in Oklahoma. Okay. This is like, so those are two. That's awesome. What about you? I was raised Jewish. Chicago, and whenever whenever I would eat unleavened pizza. Smoker, we're going to go a foot mozza. God, my mouth is soldier. But growing up my favorite foods tend to be like southern food. There's nothing in my ancestry that says, I should enjoy this, but eating barbecue with my dad, particularly a restaurant in Evanston. That's no longer there called Merle's that would serve Brunswick stew is. It's just it's barbecue. Chilly. And was like one of my favorite right in my wheelhouse. Then as soon as I was in a place where it's like I can cook, I'm Mon kitchen barbecue was something I wanted to figure out almost gave myself zinc poisoning in college because I, we're saying this before we eat. We. Zinc. There's a way to go out. It's death by barbecue. I'll take. I was in the process of making barbecue rig out of an old trash can in college. Buddies. A buddy of mine says to me like, I don't think you can use a trash can. It's a cooking vessel. And then Google is great because Google says, don't do that. You cannot cook in a garbage can ten? Oh God, that's absolutely terrified. That is my. My grandfather was a like a caterer like a chef, but in like he was an army cook who turned into like he cooked for parties and like the VFW and worked at a deli. So he wasn't like chef per se, but he would cook like shit on a shingle chip beef was like as big thing. But he used to barbecue for all the holidays and he cooked a cut in half oil. Drum a chain link fence over it was awesome. There's something very, like if you were never in the military, it's like a lot of rigs. Yeah, there's, oh, yeah, I gotta put this thing on the back of the truck truck load of stuff to make barbecue, which is like inherently all. I'm like, this kind of delicate artsy dude what I'm like. No, I might get a Bruce. This smoke, there's fire. There's temperatures animal real bad for you. Right. All barbecue. Is the fuck and bombed? Dude, southern food is so for real, I seek it out wherever I go. I always want to try the new good barbecue spots. Do you have favorite l. a. barbecue spots? I do. I have a strong. Those barn. Q. is my absolute. Also the original blood says, but the one I've been to more often because it's closer to me on the brand. Yes. Still there? Yeah, jar, whatever it is. Ingle ingle. Yeah, that's my hits like exactly what the hell I'm looking for. I think I think that's like pretty much the best barbecue. I've had out here to haven't had many place because once I found that I kind of got going there. Oh, everything's. And you know where I live now, I live rather close. Changes location. What I did do a couple of times out of eaten. There was promise myself. I had to walk there and back walk, their smoke joint, eat a bunch of barbecue. But then I've Uber back outside..

Fuck Johnny g joining me as always in the high and mighty studios is my nearly silent. Arthur Gabor's Arthur, give them shout out Arthur's in the other room because he just got his CBD treat. He's ready to kick it and relax. Also joining me in the high and mighty studios first time guests, but they know how to get invited on a podcast guys from the try it. You'll like it pockets. David Swick, and Winston Carter Hello lease extra coming. And as I was saying, listeners should heads, they know how to get invited on a podcast. They said, hey, can we make barbecue and come over and talk about barbecue? I was like, I don't even know who you fuck and people are, but to my house, ace. Sorry, I'm so we get into clubs to, I think you guys could be invited anywhere if you show up with this much smoke means. Not afraid too big to get on things. We want the things we wanna do you have requested dishes. Oh, cassoulet. We have source of lamb belly. Yeah. Guys, this conversation is like porno to me already. You're saying. So let's let's talk about your podcast, try it. You'll like it well plug it more at the end, but you guys have people on and if they don't like a food, you try to make several dishes using that food that would present it in a way. They might enjoy say that it's our guests riot food. They hate one last time and every dish that we supply for them has that component ingredient. We try to make a sweet thing. Yeah, if we can, if it's a non sweet thing, usually a savory sweet and it served in its raw form. And then sometimes we make six or seven things. Excited. It can be way too much stuff. Sometimes scared Winston's girlfriend with what I deemed egg plate was seven different types of plates. Plates. Does not like eggs. Well, how about we try in ways. Oh, that didn't work weird. Yeah, she left that still looking. But I love dinner. Yeah. Well, this all stemmed from you guys emailed me asking me be on your podcast and I don't think there's a food. I don't like. And you can find, I'm sure we can find one that I like raw tomatoes. I prefer not to eat, but that's like a weird thing to be like make me like raw tomatoes. We're just gonna budget, Taco Bell, holy shit, tomatoes by accident. Oh, is this a case of Reto tomato on this. Salt, but we're gonna talk barbecue today. Yeah, I'm a diehard fan of barbecue. But it sounds like you guys are fans, but also I think you Email me at eleven pm last night saying, we just put the meat in with came over PM to put the meat this on overnight. I got an Uber at ten thirty and was like, I have worked to do. Ships on like one of the morning, one thirty and there was up at seven to check Justice Christ, so happy. I mean, I feel bad. How much labor went into this? Do this routinely for ourselves. So talk to me how how do you guys get this into cooking or even what you just described for what you do for your podcasts seems like more than most people our age doing. It's also we made a mistake with our podcasts right off the bat. We made a big mistake mistake. All you have to do it by people over to talk about a topic. What we do is we have to plan a menu source, food cook, and then have it raised the go in time to serve on the show..
