"Welcome back today's day three, we are focusing this week on negotiating. I think it's interesting as this week has progressed. I think all of you are seeing the need to really become fantastic negotiators. It's one thing to negotiate in a seller's market where essentially fomo is going to lead the buyer to pay and do pretty much wherever the seller demands. That's not really negotiating at the end of the day. That's just order taking folks. And what we're going to be entering into as a time where you're going to have to negotiate constantly for everything. And I was just, you know, I'm talking about, for example, a type of negotiation you have to do with your children, amplified by like 20. Like Zoey was just in here negotiating with me to try to get her iPad before she finished her chores and I was just amazed by how effective she is trying to constantly negotiate every little tiny point that persuasive. It's ridiculous. And you know I just had this conversation on a coaching call. We were talking about lead follow-up on scripting and not giving up and the analogy was in this client has little kids too. Act like you're 5 and you want something. Kids do not give up their so tenacious. They keep it going. They get creative, they negotiate with you. And why is it when we are adults, we're like, oh, well, I guess this is not going to work out then. Well, I mean, she's 8 and a half, not 5, but still. 8 and a half months, they start getting smarter and they've learned all your weak spots. I mean, you know, honestly, she negotiated me down. I was planning on making it so she had to do some extra things today before she got to play with her iPad. And she just negotiated negotiating negotiating. She knew I had a deadline because I had to do the podcast and she waited me out to finally she got her way.

"Like crazy ex-girlfriend had a lot of original songs, and they weren't all crazy. I had the same problem. They had this, most people do. But at least I respect it because I was like, I haven't heard this song before. This is a new song, so that's fine. But when it's a jukebox song, it's like, there's the added difficulty of it being like, you're not gonna do it better than the original, you know? Oh, some people do. So sure, yeah, but that's why even with covers that have our time unless you're really changing it and doing something different, I don't wanna hear a cover. I will say, though, that one aspect of the show, we haven't talked about all was the dancing, the dancing is by Mandy Moore. She's an Emmy Award winning dancer that does so you think you danced into it with a star. She choreographed La La Land. She's like one of the hottest choreographers period. I'm sure tell with already what you saw that the dancing is superb. And there are more moments of dancing like brilliant. Some of the solos that they have Simon do dance wise. It's just like amazing. And amazing, you know? Yeah. That's awesome. The dancing is something to be recommended to. Episode two, we can plow through it real quick, but 'cause I don't have anything major to say, really. No, there's nothing to really talk about. So we already all talked about that the best Friends in love with her in the first episode and really find out that he loves her. He's trying to schedule some a date of some kind. Hank says I actually don't think he's, I think you're just biased at him. I don't think he's really scheduling day. I think he at this point is still like, he knows Zoey's not ready, and I don't think he's trying to push. I think he really is just trying to go hang out, hang out with his friend. Yeah. So he's just trying to hang out with his friend, and then she's like, oh, I know you love me, so this is weird..

"Yeah. But I don't disagree with you. It's hard. It's hard. It is hard. But then you get into the Christmas episode and it takes place after everything that happened. The father is dead. Now, and it's their first Christmas that they're celebrating without him around, which is sad. It's super sad. It's a very sad special super sad. It's super sad because it's like super honest where the family some of them are like we just want to forget we want to go and then Zoe is like I want to keep that special magic alive so I'm going to take it all on myself and honestly I think this is the thing the show does really well is it shows so many different aspects of grief like if you really experienced grief in your life, you'd be hard pressed to not tell me that at least at one point you tried dealing with it this way like making everything perfect, making everything the way it used to be. Making everything like it's so relatable. And having it not work and learning that lesson of new is okay after the adapting too. There's a real less sure you experience it too but you know we used to do Christmas Eve with my grandmother at her house in Hispanic families. It's a big tradition to do Christmas Eve stuff, you know? Yeah. So we did Christmas Eve at my grandma's house. She would cook and it was like we all got together and more so than we did on Christmas. And so it was like a big deal to us and then when she passed, we didn't know what to do. And so we were just trying to figure it out and my sister tried to toast and it was the same and it felt it was good to all be together, but it was sad because you remembering the times when my grandma so I was like, I totally related to this. My story is the same as yours. I was close to my grandmother and then once she passed, we stopped spending holidays together. Every year after, even before my grandma passed, when she got sick every year for Christmas for there, we spent time with my mother's boyfriend's family..

"I a man? Or here I am? Hey am I Ember? If I'm a Muppet that makes me a very manly Muppet. A very manly man. Am I American? If I'm a man, that makes me a beautiful man. A Muppet of a man. I get it, 'cause Muppets murder. I totally understand. All right, or a Chucky, you know? The doll? Oh, shit. You know? Wow, that's really good. That's really good. Wow. Layers. Marcus, I oh, you have a fan in the chat. Darren. Thank you so much. I am so in love with you. She is my girlfriend and she's legally obligated to say that she loves me once. Marcus. You got 8 out of 8 points on their fantastic, great job. You crushed that game. The fans are going wild. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So thank you. Thank you. That was fun. That was a good one. Good. Very stressful, but fun. Good, good, good, good. Back to the show that we are doing. Crystal special, let's go through the Christmas special. Because here you are, you watch first episode, you're probably thinking like, okay, I understand the conceit of the show. Let's go watch Christmas. After leaving the first episode, I was like, I don't know whether I like or I don't like the show, but I am down for watching more because it is the quality and the writing is there, but it's a pilot episode. You gotta be forgiving with the pilot episodes. I feel like you gotta give the first three episodes a shot and then I usually give a show three to 5 episodes a watch and before I decide if I'm gonna be generous. You were generous. I watched the Christmas special Nick and immediately I was miserable. And and it's not. Zoey's fault. It's not the writing's fault. It's the boyfriend's fault. He is so condescending, and he belittles her immediately off the bat..

"And we are back, Nikki's a chugging, chugging a choo choo his water. The reason I'm doing that is because we're about to play Zoey's extraordinary podcast game. Marcus, I have here a list of speaking of now try this classics. A whole bunch of classic scenes from the backlog of now try this for movies and TV shows. Okay. And here's the thing. I thought, hey, Zoey's has this great conceit of heart songs? What if other shows have heart songs? So before I tell you what it is, we're going to go through and you're going to tell me scene or song. If you pick scene, you have to act out by yourself as much as you can. It can be sure it can be quite quick. The scene of this moment I am explaining to you what it is from this show or movie. And then I will have to burst out into song when it is appropriate, a heart song from that thing. Or you can pick song, neither I will act out, and I will act out the scene, and then you interrupt my scene with whatever heart song comes to your mind, have a heart song from there. You can make it up. You can also use. Yep. Okay. Yes, and the baby, I am in it to win it me. You are so ready. Remember, you can make up a song, but you can also use literally any song in pop culture that even just has one word pun. I can't remember lyrics well. So I might have to do some Googling. Marcus, I'm gonna give you, I'm gonna lift the curtain Lexi picked out all the songs for me 'cause I couldn't think of any of them. And I only know one or two lines from all the songs. So I'm gonna try to, but it's not gonna be, it's not like I'm out here ready to sing a whole song, okay? At least you have song titles ready to go. Well, listen, I gotta make the game. I need to be a little prepared. And to be fair, I made Lexi to it. So, it's you one time. Number one, scene or song. Seen? Do you want me to tell you what the thing is before I tell you a song? No. Okay. This whole game is the most stressful thing ever. So there's pixie and do scene for the first one. Marcus number one is Squid Game. And the moment you are acting out is deciding for the first time whether you keep playing for the money or you leave. At that moment, when the voting is happening, you are acting out that scene and I will interrupt you with the heart song when it's time to do so. So I have to decide if I'm gonna keep playing with seed as it again? When they're voting, yes or no. After them once they have the monogram. Okay. I don't know what to do. I need the money, but if I, if I vote yes, that I could be rich. I could win the whole thing, but if I vote, no, then I can go back to my family, but what life is that with my family? What life would I even have? I can't provide for them. They hate me. I tried so hard to climb this corporate ladder and I failed. I fell right on my face and there was nothing I could do about it. Darling gotta let me know to do,.

"I could be wrong. Maybe he's supposed to be likeable, but I legitimately several times during this viewing, I felt like something is wrong with this man. Like he is a sociopath who doesn't understand human emotion. I don't know if it's his acting that's not coming across or something is scary about him playing this character. I you're allowed your opinion. I will say you lost a huge arc of the character. So at the beginning of the show, he's supposed to be the annoying, happy best friend. What is the Christmas episode that made me hate him? No, no, no, no, no, no, no. And then in the end of the show, they're together, and he's being kind of a dick about the powers because he just got the powers. In the show, the whole show was a will they won't they between max, Zoe, and Simon. Yes. And he finds out about the powers before anybody else. And there's a whole arc of him telling Zoe, he loves her, trying to go for it. Zoe saying yes. Zoe is saying no. Him finding about the powers, him being like, you knew I liked you this whole time. Him hating her because of it. Him like betraying the company going on the other side, starting his own business, coming all the way back, and then circling back to each other. And while I will say, if you don't like him, maybe you won't ever like him. Yeah. But there are some moments of genius. From him. There are some songs throughout this thing where I'm just like, I just have them on my Spotify. Wow. I think there's a couple songs from Simon and there's a couple songs from max, the two male leads of the show. Besides maybe the dad, that I legitimately just have on my spot because of the way they sing them. Yeah, because the caliber they sing them..

"And I see someone in the chat calling me out. I feel like it would feel less like that if you watched more than three episodes. One of them was a Christmas special, okay? That's at least like two episodes. So like full episodes. Honestly, fair. Don't call me out. And I'm super excited to hear what you think about by the time the Christmas episode. Honestly, the Christmas episode isn't the strongest episode. The first episode isn't the strongest of the second episode of strongest episode. There are episodes in here that the whole thing are better. I think we both would agree. Even during bad episodes, there's moments of greatness like sprinkling there. Because of certain performance because of a certain arc, there are episodes in the show where the whole episode feels super complete. I could see that. I've seen shows like this before, where not every episode is like great, but there's good writing happening and sometimes everything falls together in the right way for really, really good episodes. And those episodes can probably be some of the best TV period. And I've watched shows like that. So I got the sense that this show is like that as well. And I think overall the show, the show does have something to say. So just a little back matter of the show, the show runner whose name is Austin winsberg, his dad had the disease that is always that how and as he was going through that. So he is speaking from going through that, losing his father to the disease, watching him deteriorate like that. And he remembered feeling if only I could know what he was thinking. If only I could hear what was in his heart. If only I could hear his heart song. You know what I mean? So I'm sure you would agree after watching the whole thing where the whole show is really about grief and how to deal with it and what to do around it. I think one of the strongest and weakest aspects of this show is Zoe. Because we get everything from our point of view, sometimes always always there and it's a little annoying. I wish I can leave from Zoe. But sometimes, because it's from Zoe's point of view, it always has her perspective and through most of the shows she's grieving. Even here at the beginning, she's grieving because she's slowly losing her dad. And these heart songs like her going and helping someone else do their thing is helping her get closer to her dad. Get closer to her mom, get closer to the people around her, connecting with them. Because I think those are the aspects of the show that are strong. But you are right that there are shoehorn moments where it's like, hey, it would be really fun, like there's a really small spoiler. I think there's like three or four episodes in. Lauren Graham's husband comes to spark point and he is more famous than all of them. And as he comes, all the guys in the audience start singing Jesus Christ superstar when he shows up and they're like, Jesus Christ. Superstar. As he's coming in and I'm like, I didn't need this..

"Yeah, no, it literally is what it says it is and she has super she got a power. We don't know how. We don't know when. We don't know why, but she has this power to hear people's heart songs. Yes. And so I was like, okay, I guess that's not it. Eventually, yes. And because of the Christmas movie being after everything, I found out that it's just a superpower. She just has superpowers, and this is hers. Yeah, a lot of the beginning is her contending with the powers. By the time you get to the Christmas episode, she accepts, yeah, I hear people's hearts on this is what I do. Yeah. So again, you were about to talk about how she it was all fun. She was like, help, I need some buddy. Help. Yeah. And singing like some funds. And then she hears leafs and he's like, all I do is win, win, win, it's like a bunch of fun, right? It's like fun stuff. Okay, I see what this show is. It's likely everyone's singing and then this moment happens with Simon. Yeah. You're in the bad world. And she just hears. She hears it from far away. And she goes and follows the voice down the halls. And Simon gives a fucking stirring rendition. Just sitting at his desk all by himself singing mad love. Yeah, and he's like a face. It's great. It's great. It's very sad and it works. It's overly dramatic. This show as it should be. Overall is overly dramatic. It feels like glee, but glee, at least when they were sinking, it felt like they should be singing in those moments. This show feels more forced than glee did in the beginning. It feels like weird. We have to sing now because there's we are legally obligated to sing three songs, and so we have to squeeze in a song right here. And I didn't like that feeling. The mad world one felt, it didn't feel like that..

"And I ended up having to watch it on punisher. Do you know the business model of peacock? You have to sign up for it, and then you get to watch it. I have no idea when you pay. The business model for peacock. Please explain. I don't understand. This is why, hold on, this is why NBC's dumb. This is why I stand by the show and not by the network. I agree. The network is dumb. The clay's going about it. They fucked up by having anything on the show. After watching this on peacock, I was like, I will never watch the office again because if the only place I have to watch is on peacock, I just rather never watch that show again. And I like that show. And it's one I've rewatched. Peacock sucks ass. So, normally, you get a free trial, right? And then you can watch any of the shows you want on the platform, which is wonderful. That's fine. Give me a 7 day free trial. I'll binge watch whatever I wanna watch, and then I'll bail and I'll never watch this program. I'll never use programming enough I don't want to. And if there's a good service and win me over, right? It can win me over. If there's good content, I'm like, wow, there's so much content in here. I didn't realize, I guess I'll keep my subscription. That's how most of them work. And then watch something on there once every three months. This one works like tubi or like one of the random streaming services where it is free to sign up. It's free to watch everything on there, but you have to watch commercials. Nick, I haven't watched some fucking commercial in like 12 years. I hear that. I hear that I hear that hard. I don't watch commercials. I have just you watched the whole show with commercials? Yes, it was also commercials. I pay for upgraded Hulu so I don't have to watch commercials..

"It was getting viewers. People were watching it. And the creators were like, listen, we're going to go to Hulu. We're going to go to Netflix. We're going to see. You know what you never know. Yeah. And then I came out and was like Roku bought us. To make it not even to make more of the show to make a one singular Christmas special. But you gotta do it. You gotta take the opportunity to finish your story in the narrative and make more money. Capitalism. Yeah, man, even I wish they did that. So here, so there's a Christmas special on the Roku channel. You can only watch it on the Roku channel. If you have a Roku, you already have that channel on your Roku. You can just go to the Roku channel website and watch it, so it's weird because it's completely free to watch. Yeah. To watch this TV special. And oddly enough, the first seasons on Roku are the second season still on NBC, so you have to go to NBC to watch the second season, so. Anyway, that is Zoey's, that's where it's come from Marcus. Have you heard of the show? Did you know what it was? What's your history before I gave this to you? I will say it makes complete sense that no one was watching the show, or that a handful of watching the show. Because what? I heard about this show, and then it disappeared. So when you gave me the challenge, I was like, oh, that show, I heard of that. And I couldn't place when I've heard of it. It could have been 5 years ago, and it's like a very good long running show, or it could have been 5 minutes ago and you're telling me to watch the first season because it just ended. I didn't fucking know. When I heard about it. So I was like, okay, cool. And then I looked at it and I found out that I had two seasons, and that shocked me because this show lasting for two seasons mean enough people watched it for it to get a second season, and somehow no one's talking about. So that means that this show lives in a world where it is okay enough that people are watching it. But not good enough that anyone's even talking about it. So even if people are watching.

"Anyway guys, unlike Roblox, which is super popular, we are doing Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist. Marcus, before we get started, tell me a memory from the podcast from the last three months of an episode or something that we did. Three months. That was a roller coaster of a sentence. I feel like my brain was like, ah, yes, I'm gonna go deep in the archives and then he said three months and I was like, okay, I guess. Three months. Okay, well, highlight for me is Arlene joining the team as the official mascot. She's really in there. I'm not going to move her. She just might want to move. Terrified. I'm the owner of a hospital. Where does she come from? And how has your relationship has the atmosphere been with her? I'm the owner of a haunted doll now because of a fan on Twitch donating the exact amount of money we needed to buy our lead, so I did. And now she lives here in the shipping. We can talk about it. We're going to have guests staying next week in the guest bedroom and I am not going to move the doll. And I'm going to see how long it lasts on the wall. And if they want to move it, I'll give them permission to do it, but I will not approve of it. So they will be the ones cursed and move it. They have to touch it. I'm not moving. That makes sense. That makes sense. Arlene is very comfortable in her spot and hasn't haunted us. You think so? Do you think she's done nothing to you at all? I think so. Because you used to be the kind of boy who kept your top button unbuttoned. So you're changing. Call me out. You're a different guy. Call me out. You're a different man. I just want this shirt too many times on the podcast. For clips, I was like, let me by the top Biden change it up. So funny because no one else is paying attention to that at all at all. That's true..

"Try this. The podcast where two best friends get together every week. There was a ghost. To talk about one of their favorite things that the other person has never tried before. I'm Marcus, and that's it. I'm Nick. What was that point? This is the 41st episode of the podcast. I'm old, I'm old. I've been doing this podcast too long. I'm the grizzled cynical one now, Marcus. Is this my role? Amazing. And we've done 41 new episodes. This isn't more like 42 old episodes am I right? I think about the number 41. I'm like, that's a pretty big number. But that is not the total of the episodes that we've done. There's a huge backlog of episodes to go through. We have 41 plus 98 episodes that we've done this year, and that is a beautiful, beautiful thing. Wow, there's all been this year, huh? 'cause we started this year. Yeah, we did. Wow, that's really great. Guys, we are back. We are challenging each other this year. We knew we needed to come back together because we were lonely and we needed each other at each other's lives more. So we came back to you and you guys have come back in full force. You've been leaving reviews. You've been following us on Instagram and Twitter and Twitch, and guys, the now try this family that now try this battalion, then now try this army. No. Army. The arm is too much. The now try this battalion. We're gonna save Italian sisterhood. Now try this battalion has come back strong. And you are there. And the reason we know you're strong is 'cause you are combing to the Patreon. Patreon dot com slash Nacho this cast and donating. What about this? That's it. So we know that the sisterhood of the traveling triers is strong because every month you guys, the $5 tier goes and votes are submits. Challenges for us to do and all the dollar tiers vote on those challenges and every month we have something to do. That's how I know they're there. That's how I know we're going strong. That's how I know we are there. And we're doing it live every Thursday 8 p.m. eastern standard time, just like E evaluation is in the chat. Thanks for joining us. And this is now try this. We are here. But Marcus, yes. 40 one's a lot of episodes. We should be proud. I'm incredibly proud, though the way that our listeners have really shown up for us is incredible. The Patreon is going well. The fact that there's people here, every episode, watching us live, joining us to see what we're doing. It's been great. And Marcus, here's why I know it is safe for us to do a show that has been on the brink of cancellation 16 times is because of those triers. That's why I knew that we could do Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist today because we are going strong, baby. Yeah, that's why you decided to show this show podcasts. The show is a show that small, strong, loud fanbase, has been rooting for you. And so we are here. Are you a strong laugh at this? Is it a fan base of one?.

"Oh! So what a great! Hello! That is! That makes a nice with. Commerce exactly. How's it going John? I've just turned the fan off in my office so that we can record which means we are counting down to the point when my body goes past one hundred and five and I pass out I. Know this this room to this room to is like freezing with the air conditioning on, and you turn it off and five minutes later. You are basically able to bake sourdot Brennan. Yes, and you know I I have ways of cooling fans. Air Conditioners can't use them well recording now, also I have to keep. The door closed in this room. Because let's just say I. Have A feral cat living in my office right now. So. We can't have the door open. Your that. Yeah. That's a meal. You're feral cat. Theory is that's betsy that sense? Betsy sounds okay. He's all. Right, now he's at the window and he's meowing I. Think what he's saying is help. Your. Guys. Your barrel cats. Maybe he say free food and here. Really Awesome. Sleep all day. Any Food I love it. Yeah. He's he's. He's doing great. As you know as you know, I have started taking care of the feral cats in my backyard, but the feral cats are now not in a crate. They are not in a basement. They don't have a towel over them. They are roaming freely in US recording studio. One has a skin condition and is staying with me awhile until the skin condition is soft, and it may not be solved I. Don't know I may not be solved, I'm not sure what's going to happen. Maybe he's going to be an indoor cat. Who knows at the window? Your indoor cat. Let's let's. Let's let's make it personal. It's not an indoor cat. You notice that. I'm trying not to say it because I've become too attached to this cat. While the cat does deep deep, deep, deep, deep, deep in its feral mind and heart. Can, you can see Betsy Beth. Everybody Radiator Watch I taught him a trick. Betsy. Betsy I. Do that looks at me, Really Cute, a loud noise and ahead turn studies Ya. Predator, so it looks at. Show for you from the Netflix series working moms with the show's creators and stars Catherine Reitman and Philip Sternberg. Then we talked a longtime friend of mine comedian Baron Vaughn, and he shares with us his innermost thoughts on. Be Better, roommate, the hulk or Wolverine? But I. Really get things going with Alex Newell and Jane Levy from. The NBC Musical Dramas Zoe. Extraordinary playlist to show is about a woman who discovers she is the ability to hear people's thoughts as songs, so everyone on the show is a triple threat. They can act sing and dance, but Jonathan can. They won't their way through an asking other trivia game I hope so. I always thought triple threat was acting singing and Trivia. Would you say it's acting singing and dance interested? You know what? Maybe maybe it is. Maybe maybe Trivia is just woven in there. We'll find out. And like magic here. They are Jay Levy Alex. Newell thank you so much for being part of Ashby another. I have been watching Zoe's extraordinary playlist. Okay? No, that some of the cast are professional singers dancers like you Alex but the show features a lot of choreography that I assume you don't get a lot of time to learn. What was that like for you, Jane Yeah. There's a there's a an array of experience throughout the cast, Alex Newell comes in, and just does one kick and is like I learned it. It's fine. Under some of us who get eight rehearsals because it's a lot harder. Yeah. I do I do learn I have learned a music number. The day of but Jane has as well. While yeah, but mine are usually. My characters in every single dance number every musical number, because it comes through her superpower, but most of my choreography. If you WANNA, call it that in those numbers or just me like walking in a straight line so I can learn those on the day. You have a dance background. Don't Eugene. I danced as a kid. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, so you're not afraid of it. No I love it. I'm much more afraid of singing singing is. Really difficult for me. But she meals every time that's. After, the but but. Every time a period. Wow, thanks, Alex, but dancing is just fun and I care less about being good about good at it right? Yeah, because you can move and that's the most important thing. It's the rest of us who are when you start dancing cooper like oh no! Her dancing, Lake when we do the. Of The second episode when she was like. They were like nothing. Like dancing can. Like five steps. That's when I was in shape. So we have a couple of great games for you. Let's let's play some games. Okay so this first one. You're going to be playing against each other. We're going to go back and forth. This is a this is a game about characters every answering. This game is a famous character. Jonathan I are going to read you an excerpt of how the author described the character, and you just have to guess who is being described. Great Okay. So Alex will start with you. Here! Her stepsisters ridiculed her. AP's. stepsisters right? How many? How many. Honestly I, I wanna read the rest of it just for our listeners, and also because I did not when I, heard this description I had never heard this particular version that her stepsisters ridiculed her, and scattered peas and lentils into the
It's Sundance Time Again
"Welcome to the frame. I'm Steven Cuevas in for John Horn. But he's actually sitting right here beside me because by the time you hear this. He'll be at the Sundance Film Festival. John Thanks for taking time before you pack your bags my pleasure. I love the fact that I'm here but I'm not here John. There are dozens of feature films film screened at Sundance. Of course tell me about some of this year's most anticipated entries. I'M GONNA lean towards documentaries if you look at the movies that are nominated for the documentary feature academy me where this year three of them premiered at Sundance a year ago. American factory honey land and edge of democracy. And if you look at the very first night at the Sundance Dance Film Festival. There are new documentaries from producers. You might have heard of Barack and Michelle Obama. They've called Crip camp which is about the disability rights movement. There's another documentary about Taylor swift and about why. She is becoming a little bit more political and that's just in one theater in one night. Well one of the documentary entries premiering at Sundance that I wanted to ask you about It's when it's trying a lot of controversy and that's the Kirby Dick and amy during documentary on the record. It focuses on the sexual assault allegations against hip hop mogul Russell Simmons. The film was being executive. Co produced by Oprah Winfrey set to be released on Apple. TV then Winfrey suddenly. He withdrew support and some say. It was under pressure from Russell Simmons. She denies this and says it's because of questions arising from one of the alleged victims. What's to become come of this documentary on the record? Well it is going to show at the festival I mean I think there is the question whether or not Sundance was going to pull it The fact that Oprah Winfrey withdrew her support that apple. TV Hit pause in. The documentary is very unusual. And Kirby and amy have said listen. We think we've made a really good good film. We don't understand what they are complaining about. All of the edits and suggestions up until the time. The picture was locked where minor little things it does feel feel like Russell. Simmons complained to Oprah about the documentary. It's unclear if Oprah thought it was unfair or that featured one woman story over others the Booze GonNa show but for a film to go to the festival with this much. Uncertainty is highly unusual. Yeah not to get too far afield on this but I wonder if Oprah pulling away from this the project could somehow damage her own brand in this in this era of me too. Well I think she has said that. She believes the women who are accusing Russell Simmons of sexual assault and harassment. So I don't think she's saying I am not believing them anymore. I think she has to her. Mind legitimate questions about the documentary. Yeah it is important that she is on board or not on board because her producing does suggest that there is a level of quality ability and credibility to it and the fact that she's leaving it does ultimately damage. I think the standing of the film Another film to ask you about. Was this four part documentary. On Hillary Clinton Clinton. It'll be available on Hulu. She will also be attending Sundance for the first time to do promotion for this film. What you know about it and you know any any buzz around it? I guess I know a fair amount about it I'm GONNA be doing. QNA With Hillary Clinton at the festival is a four part series. That has a behind the scenes footage of her running against against Donald Trump. But it's really about her political career and about how things stand today so words at all. Hillary is a participant in this documentary. It s you said she'll be at the festival and she'll be talking with me. She says a lot of the documentary. I hope she says even more when we sit down to have a conversation. There's one other film I wanted to ask you about. And that's a a little film called feels good man and it's an indie production looking at the rise of of this comic pepe the frog that was actually created by L. A. based cartoonist and it sort of became an emblem for the outright. Who took this image and kind of started using it for antisemitic means racists memes all kinds of really nasty stuff? What do you know about the film and Are you going to see it? Yeah I'm definitely going to see. The artist is named fury. And it's about how something something becomes an icon for hate. And how the artist behind that I contract reclaim it and I think if you look more broadly at a lot of the documentaries that are playing the festival a lot of them are about what's going on in the world right now. There's a new documentary about the kids who survived the park. Land shooting about what they're doing to fight against against Gun. Violence US kids. I think that there's another documentary called early. Bird it's about the helicopter news pilot Zoey Tur and about what her works has about the tabloid of news and the Oj. Trial Voice State is a documentary about seventeen year. Old Boys a thousand from Texas says who join up to build a representative government from the ground up so wherever you look Especially in documentaries. There are a lot of films about the current state of the country. And what we might do to fix it. And what are some of the feature films. You're looking forward to checking out. I know that things that are kind of top of our sundance card include downhill. This is a remake of the movie force majeure a Foreign Language move from a couple years ago it stars. Julia Louis Dreyfuss Will Ferrell. It's made by nat facts and Jim Rash. Who did a movie called called way way back not that long ago Vigo Mortenson who is one of my favorite actors hell yeah written directed stars in a movie called following that I think is partially in Spanish? So there's nothing Vigo can't do. There's an Anthony Hopkins movie based on a play called the father. There's a movie about Gloria Steinem in many different iterations directed by Julie. Taymor you might know her from the Lion King. You know the other thing that we should talk about our number of movies that are going to sundance that are looking Ford distribution and one of the things that a lot of people forget is that Sundance is not only a film festival. It's a film market and it'll be really interesting to see given how a poorly some of the movies from last year as well at the Box Office if the checkbooks will be open s much as they were a year ago.

How to build your personal brand through podcasting
"This episodes all about building your personal brand with podcasting, we speak with several executive coaches, consultants thought leaders and business advises on how they are using podcasting to connect more deeply with their audiences and engage on issues. There. Tribes care about first Zoe. Routh is the latest Shakespeare who inspires big thinkers with big hearts to make a difference. So he's podcast is being an experiment in the making and an experiment that's really paid off. My podcast is. Named very creatively Zoe, wrath leadership podcast. So I didn't put too much effort into the title. The reason I started it is I wanted to expand my audience. So I wanted positioning and I wanted visibility and. I really wanted to focus on eventually after after about half actually about fifty episodes. I worked at that I wanted focus on boundless leadership, so narrow down my topic to really think about that. And boundless leadership is all about dissolving barriers to success and exploring what's possible. That's the real boundless piece. What challenges did you have in doing it. Well, the challenges were getting it setup. All the tech stuff was completely new to me. So I had to do lots of research in a very cramped scheduled to try and work out what pieces of equipment I needed, how to get it set up how to get it linked up to tunes, which I have to say was an exercise in. Anxiety doing that. It was so complicated and round and round and round in circles until I finally worked it out God. That was that was a huge challenge. So I think those the challenges have been technology related, you know, and then interviewing people. And then the sound quality was crap because the connection was bad. So that was been a huge, huge challenge. And I guess probably the second challenge is all about content creation. So because I post weekly, that's a lot of content to generate, whether I do it in two ways. I do it through interviews and I also do it through my own. General broadcasting. So I present different ideas and content for the audience as well as interviewing other experts. So keeping on top of the content production, it has been the second challenge. What advice would you give podcasting took me about half a year maybe or maybe even close to year to really get more focused on my message and the topic wanted to cover, and I think more focused is better. So of more specific audience, more specific topic makes it paradoxically easier to to generate content on, said, n people find it more attractive because they know your pockets is about black and they can go in and really get what they need out of that. So I find that twos that I enjoy podcast or more specific like that with very particular angle as opposed to general one. So that's the first thing. I guess the second thing is to have a regular cadence because if you do it frequently enough and for me, it's weekly, you get into routine of that and you get used. Generating the constant thinking about it and your audience spills as as result that's zoey Ralph. Another brand later is Travis Bill, but has been a nine is the bucket least guy. He encourages people, he's fellows and anyone who he's speaking seminars to write down a list of things I would like to do before they die. You know, when you go for walk, run workout, you know, on doing something else can listen to podcasts, wait a minute. We the great. It's really odd to to. To what video is tied. So all everyone's VDI VDI video video. You can't. You can't what? Under some annals. You have to shuttle down in the multi task video, so you can not driving. For instance, I do all my Omar podcast listening during driving, why did I do put casts to get access to provide a platform so I could make cool PayPal, the doing stuff that I've gotten it works big of them on a cold database climbing and to ridge.
