"Should have dot com sweet green great. I'd like to address accessibility and in find really cool fun adventures that everybody could potentially do them. Yeah absolutely any anything else. You would share or a next up on the road trip after leaving zayante. We'll i'll share a bit of a funny story also doubles as a tip. So at the like. I said in the beginning of this hike. You're kind of going along this river at the end of the hike you because you go back down the same way and at the end of a four hour hike hot heat. The river looks really good and so without pretty much any hesitation. On the way back down we went to dip in the river. Real quick And my friends just put put their feet in. But i was like tree kidding like a beautiful river running through like i'm getting my head wet so i just dunked my head in and kind of cooled off in a river and then moved on today right we start walking back to the shuttles are a what's that it's a really big yellow sign and it just says do not go in water contaminated beat like deadly could be deadly. Don't if you're heading. Dip you're heading gets the er all the scary stuff. Now is like whoa. Whoa didn't see that. So i had to ask the ranger i was like. Hey i just did my head in the water like my bad. Am i going to be okay and They had a fountain that i had to cool off on so i don't know if that water still contaminated. It's gonna look really good but to all listeners out there. I suggest that you don't dip your head in because he will be met with a sign afterwards. that says. Hey you might Might die from that so listeners. From this okay. Don't die from this After doing the most dangerous hike in the world and being completely okay and really feeling accomplished to then be met with. That's how i would you know that's the thing that would do. It is the river's dumping head on trent..

"Yep perfect van lifers. We did do some tent camping. You might have to kick some rocks to clear some space and make sure that you're not sleeping on anything to uncomfortable but No it's it's perfect for all types of campers. Yeah great additional tips. Or other places to see in zion after doing the psych. Yeah well i'd say the one thing. That maybe i wish i had set up when i went is just a couple more days. I still really wanna hike the narrows. I'm going to listen to the podcast episode. Where they talk about that definitely decent convincing to get my friends. Get out there But hike is four hours so if you do this at eight in the morning you're done by noon Checking out the river that runs through the canyon. that's what we did afterwards You know there. There's a lot of other kind of more mellow hikes swimming tools and things like that. We're just exploring zion canyon because it's big and There's a lot of really incredible things. setting up. Maybe a couple of days. There's there's a lot of cool stuff if you do set up a couple of days. I have to hike more hikes there. But i suggest that maybe you set this up On the last day because my legs the next day were still trembling so giving yourself some time to recover but Yeah i also try to send it to you. I'm trying to remember where it is but there's really cool swimming hole that's tucked by when you drive down in his eye on which i suggest if you're approaching it there's The eighty nine side in the nine side which sounds kind of confusing. But there's one side that you drive to these tunnels drop into the canyon from rather than climb up in the views on that. It looks like you're in cars land. It's incredible and it. It it trickles down and you look over the whole canyon and you can actually put her on the side of this really cool swimming holes that way too so Just a lot to explore. And i suggest that people take the time in reserve the time to do so there Beautiful and i just want to circle back to the high quake and you mentioned the intermission. Part of the hike where there was a paved part of that hike for the first part. Was that first part wheelchair friendly. You know i. It looks like it could be And maybe maybe is. There weren't any stairs that we have to deal with in the first part. Yeah go it was mostly just traversing In in ramps so it definitely could be a wheelchair friendly now the backside. I think there were a couple steps when it started to get super steep. So i don't know where that that would actually end in the intermission. Spot would be that place okay..

"Besides walking in which would have been a really long walk was the shuttle or renting bike so getting a shuttle pass in making you ahead because it can be hard to get. I would suggest one to two months of you. Know you're going to get on it and reserve time That was really the only type of quote unquote permit that we needed for the is now. Did you see any young kids or Maybe balanced problems doing the hike. I saw a baby strapped to Ah dad's back as he was hiking up this steep steep incline now. Yeah that was we. We gave him knuckles. We were like that is so impressive because we were sitting there whining and he was carrying another human on his back. But like i said there's that intermission There's that halfway mark before the really extreme stuff that could be famous hiking out of itself You get this really cool kind of one. Eighty view of the caney and everything so i did see children in. That was kind of place where they stop. There were a couple children that wanted to start in the extreme stuff. But we're definitely having some tantrums in the kind of freak out and they would have to u-turn so kids can go but obviously at their own comfort level in that halfway spots a nice place to tip you got some really good advice Now you you mentioned there some scrambling you've got ropes. You've got chiens it take it. You're not wearing your flops on the psych What what were you wearing. And what did you pack your bag. So i under- pack. It's i'm kind of infamous for it. I work converse on this hike and regular shorts and a regular t shirt with a hat in a backpack. I didn't have too many issues. But i would say that next time i would give myself the option of maybe some running shoes some hiking shoes. You know like you deserve it like going on ahead so you might as well but the trail is and i have to give zion some.

"Or or maybe no that they can do something dangerous and accomplish it and it may be a good effect other areas of their life absolutely. Yeah i think so but when you see angels landing. I think on on some of the list. It's the most eighth most dangerous that means that there's about seven other hikes that you would need to challenge yourself on but theoretically the rest are good to go like hiking. Good to go now so it unlocks of bit of confidence in the sense that after this hike i definitely wanted to not only go on war because it was the first hike. I had really been on the while. Also push myself a little bit more hiking. It's not just walking like it's not just like walking up a hill and back down. It's it can be some kind of mentally challenging too. So i definitely suggestive people who maybe want push themselves out of their comfort zone but do so in the most beautiful way possible bigger. Phone five breakdown thumb logistics. A right exactly. Where.

"Incredible hike and to to paint some more painting more scenery on it as well. I know you want that. We want to dive deep into the kind of image of this when you first get started on the hike. You're thinking this isn't all that bad. I've seen the youtube videos. This isn't you know you're you're hiking along this kind of river and it kinda cuts back and forth up through these trees and yet is beautiful. It almost looks like a painting in front of you of what you're going to hike and then you just start to see that painting it closer and closer and then you're on the part of the mountain you saw down below it. Kind of cuts back into the canyon a little bit the back side of it. And there's a part in this hike where basically everyone gathered around and it is like i would say the intermission. It's like the halftime show. It's right before it gets to google images that you saw and for listeners. Who maybe are scared of heights. Because i m This is actually a really cool spot to hang out and go to even if you don't wanna do the scary part so anyone should do this hike. Because it's very doable. Under the place to to get a really good view before you get to the scary stuff But after that is when the real extreme stuff happens and we can dive into that. You have questions about that specifically. Ooh so. tell me more about the extreme part of hike. Yeah figured that's where we go next. The extreme part of the hike is it starts with a chain rope. So you see that. There's this the chain the infamous chain rope And essentially a line of people so we went november and it was actually the end of october and it was pretty busy so i definitely suggest on a suggestion here that you try to go. Maybe a little bit of an off season. i know midsummer. It's really busy there too. But it's essentially a single file line along the ridge of this cliff. You're holding onto a chain rope for the majority of it and what's scary isn't necessarily the hike itself i would say the scariest part is when you run into the single file line coming down because there has to be a little bit of a handoff between trump gates the rope at that time and so. That's where i saw people get a little bit scared because crammed..

This woman has been trapped or stranded in a national park for 12 days and was found survived. And without all of this is miraculous might not be what it seemed to be. 38 year old Holly Court tour found alive by rescuers. The date was October 18th. She said that she had survived in the wilderness for 12 days by drinking water from the Virgin River. This is all out of Utah, by the way. And Sergeant Darrell Kashin says it's sounding a little suspicious to him. I'm saying she'd been drinking that water unless you had some really high immune system. She would have been very, very ill. And probably unable to come out on her own. So she was in the Zion National Park, and she said that she had hit her head on a tree became disoriented and was only it'll take a few steps and then collapsed. But now cashing this, saying they did not even see any evidence of such a severe wound when they found her if it was significant enough to last that many days There should have been some sign of that injury. In addition, he says she once was found was not even in the type of condition that she needed an ambulance after being in the loud 12 days. I mean, it's warm in the day, but it gets cold at night. So he overall says this case has him scratching his head. There's just a lot of question with that, and I think The place where that question can be answered, is probably with her and her holly Court tour 38 years old is from California Way Don't really know. What happened? You know, she said I was reading a little bit on the Baxter here. She did not tell like her kids. She did not tell people where she was hiking or where she was going. So I don't even know how they figured out. She was Zion. But maybe she checked in or something. Yeah, very interesting. She took a trip somewhere. But if it's in a gorge, I mean it's straight down cliffs and you take these cliff hugging trails down there, so there's zero cell signal. I mean, what I'm getting to it. It's really hard to get lost. It's not like a trailhead, and then you go anywhere. You. You check in at the trailhead at this point is called the Grotto Trailhead. "It yesterday. So I know exactly what Steve Smith is talking about. But Steve Smith was not just happy to hike around to his local spots. My man wants to take that outdoor act and build upon it. He wants to take that act on the road, and he wants to do it as soon as he possibly can. With things go back to normal. I'm not going to sit on the sideline and say, Well, I really want to do this. I told her, she told me we're going to do it like I think we're gonna rent an RV school is up. And just like Jonah R V to a for months and just kind of just say screw it. Let's go see Morel lab. Let's go to Utah Zion National Park Yellowstone to see some of these places that we've kind of procrastinated till we get to it. We know now there might not be a ghetto, so we're going to do it and we don't grin RV and we're just gonna hit the road for months and see how it goes and figure it out. Have I ever drove an RV Hale know Never sold a nor b but you know what? I already figured out and learn and say we did an experience and have those memories. Keep saying I woulda shoulda coulda. This guy, man. This one. I mean, what other athlete could I bring on? And talk to for an hour. About nothing relating to sports and had that much fun and I would be that interesting. Very, very few people, and there's so much to love in that clip. In fact, you would think that he and I have nothing in common. That's something else we have in common. We both thought that hiking was a big waste of time. And now we both love it. He just said, Have I ever driven an RV? Hell, no. Have I ever drove an RV Hale know So once back in the day. I bought my father in law and RV. The condition Wass that I never actually step into it. Fact I told this to Janet because Janet And I've shared this story. Janet grew up camping. Janet her family love the camp. To say to me. What about you roam you camp Jim Roll man. I grew up in the valley. The suburbs. No, I don't camp. No interest. But janitor family love the camp and Janet's father. Lynn is like one of the great men of all time. Serve this country was in the World War. Incredibly courageous man. Beautiful guy like like the nicest person I've ever met her dad who passed away late nineties or in his late nineties. Man. They love the camp. They loved to fish. They loved the camp. They love to kick rocks down by the river. They love it all. So I buy her dad had this old camper. I bought her dad. Harvey. And I was so proud so happy, but I made it very clear to her and her family. I will do this and nobody asked me to, and they try to talk me out of it from his long as I never step foot in that thing. So Steve Smith and I have more in common than you think. And I love that part about him channeling his inner gardener, Menchu. And road tripping the country in an R V. And then the more profound realization that nothing in life is promised. There. My quote, there might not be a get to And that you have to do the things you've always wanted to Dio because we've all learned this year. Anything and.

"Your source for traveling the US and Canada with kids and in your recreational vehicle we cover the sites the logistics campgrounds and education opportunities and we tend to focus on the national parks as we are trying to take our elementary aged girls to all of them and we also focus on camping accommodate agents that work for a large motorhome today we're talking about Zion National Park so as I national park is one of the top ten visited National marks its location puts it reasonably close to Las Vegas so about two and a half hours away from Vegas and then it's also pretty close to the Grand Canyon about two hours away from the Grand Canyon obviously in a different direction it's one of the mighty five which is the name given to the five Utah National Parks and the other National Parks in Utah of course are Bryce Canyon Capitol Reef Canyon Lands and Arches and on this particular trip we were able to do Zion Bryce and Capitol Reef We'd Already Been Two arches before Canyon lands so we decided not to do those on this trip you could do all five of them if you had a good two or three weeks time I would say in order to do all of those but for sure the Go-to Bryce Canyon for going Zion and you have an extra day or two because they are so close together those two are really too that are worth just hitting it at the same time so all we're actually talking about on the podcast today is Zion National Park but for sure checkout Bryce Canyon if you have time in your plan to head design Anyway so the location of Zion is in southwest Utah and it's off from interstate I fifteen north of Saint George which is really that southern West most point in Utah and Saint George is really the largest nearby city that you have although it's really too far to stay in Saint George and then visit signed for the day it's just GonNa make for a really long days trips instead you probably want to stay a little bit closer springdale is the actual city that is right at the entrance of the south entrance for Zionist uh-huh Park so that's a good location we actually stayed in Virgin Utah which isn't that much further and I'll talk about that at the end when I always talk about campgrounds if if you're planning to see Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park you might actually WanNa stay on highway eighty nine which is between the two so it puts you a little bit further distance from either park but it puts you in an ice central location if you just want to be able to stay at the same campsite and then due date trips and travel out to the national parks so highway eighty nine is the option for that highway nine is a direct path from I fifty eighteen to highway eighty nine in highway nine is the one that goes through San National Park but within Zion there is a tunnel and there's height clearance it's so this was something that I had a real hard time trying to figure out exactly what was going on with this before our trip out there because you know apple maps and Google and everything is trying to take us through Zion National Park to go from Zion all the way up to Bryce and we can't do that in our particular rig so the Zion final has a thirteen foot max height and a fifty foot Max length limitation to it and actually if you're over eleven feet while little eleven feet you actually need an escort through the tunnel so you have to pay for the escort fan I think it's like fifteen dollars and then they cautiously watch you you and help guide you through as you're actually taking your rv through so if you can clear thirteen feet you can go through Zion tunnel but you're going to have to pay for the escort which is the fifteen dollars you can only do this during the daytime because that's when they have people there to be escorts and you can only do this during the months where they don't have snow on the road is enclosed and stuff so we're kind of talking about march through October ish timeframe those are the only times you can do that and then if you ever a big rig like we do thirteen feet is not a max height that you can do and quite honestly once we're towing the jeep we don't even work within the fifty foot slink so the option for you then is to have to take the bypass which is to go around to get to highway eighty nine and real quickly just because this was so confusing for me and I wasn't trying to do this for those of you that have to do this that are in a large rig if you're coming from I fifteen you're coming in through the springdale and the Virgin side in your saints staying somewhere over there then what you're going to have to do when you leave if you WANNA head back up to highway eighty nine and head over to Bryce is that you're going to have to take highway nine back to Hurricane Utah then you'll kind of go down south onto highway fifty nine take that into Arizona as it becomes highway three eighty nine in Arizona and then you Kinda head over to for Dona Arizona and start heading back north at that point in time to get back into Utah so all in all this is about a two hour detour versus what your apple maps and everything else is telling you for away nine that goes directly through Zion but again that's not going to work if you have a large rig so just so you know you have to do that bypass certainly worth it to be able to go over to Bryce Canyon nc that but just so you know that's kind of what you're looking at in terms of the driving and the driving situation you have to do there.

My son steered me to fifty eight on Ron tomatoes. That's what my son's doing all day. All right. I had another thought over the weekend, which is. I don't know why I was looking up Rebecca Schaeffer. She's the poor gal who is sort of SAS innate on our stoop of our apartment in West Hollywood like nineteen eighty nine. She was in doing your family's away. I was I don't know what I was looking for something on the computer, and somehow she popped up. And I was like, oh, yeah. What happened there? And she did my sister Sam with Pam daub thumper. I think Morgan may need she had a sitcoms like a hit sitcom in the eighties and the due to fit eighteen months or something some ridiculous. That's that's another gal who's that's Dominy done that guy didn't get much anything this guy who was a Stocker got life without the possibility parole. But as I was reading the story that was interesting, and I think we could all I don't know chew on this a little bit terms of how fragile or bizarre. Dr life can be this guy was stocking. Somebody else. This guy was a Stocker with another client. This guy was stocking. Another young girl who has like a activist and Elissa she died in a plane crash. And so this guy when it was forced to find the new. Yes. Oh, wow. Samantha Smith was her name. She was a child peace activist, and he was talking her. And then now when you're Stocker, and there's no one to stock. You gotta move on any moved on to the next one and then some point later gunned her down on her porch. How so I don't know if this person had died in a plane crash would this guy never have stocked, Rebecca Schaeffer Shaefer, right? So. We're right. So there's a plane crash at some point you go. How's that going to affect mean? You know, I don't know. I didn't know anyone on the plane, and then somehow you're dead. That's crazy much like and brought it up in a while. But the I think was Hinckley or no that was All all. the other one, John and John Chapman. Yeah. Mark jackson. Chapman committed suicide essentially just took his car to the beach in Hawaii parked at five in the morning like overlooking. The sun's sunrise put the pipe the exhaust pipe and into the car, and he was just committing suicide. And he would have committed suicide, but some surf fisherman showed up and was like, hey that what get this guy out of the car and get him to the hospital and some guy who happened to be surfing at sorry fishing surfacing. I never know. If these guys are the best fisherman are the laziest Fishman or the Poor's vision, I have never seen anyone catch anything. I've seen the guy stand out mid thigh in the surfin cast out there. But I've never seen that guy. Catch anything about it. That's where I go with my ziphii board as their fish like. You get nothing hepatitis C. That's what you can get. There was one year about eight years ago where I had a fishing license. And at my boyfriend at the time, we would go do this all the time. You do not catch. Anything have any drinking active you'd make fun of ice fishing? All you want those guys head home.
