Tech That Died in 2020

"It's important to remember the tech that died in twenty twenty so we have an article here from the world. This is by ian paul. He has highlighted some of the tac. Which will no longer be with us heading into two thousand twenty one and you're gonna have some fond memories as we go through this list here. Are you ready fun. Number one is farmville. Farmville is going away because flash is going away and i don't know if you remember this game this was how about sixty two million people signed up to play the game talking about a tremendous success story that went from sixty two million two zero in in a short period of time. Relatively speaking incredible how trendy. These types of things can be. This was always on type of game that plugged into facebook. That would notify you at all times. I don't know you crops needed to be watered. Didn't i don't even know how this game got his big as it did. People got addicted. It was the various mechanisms in the blandishments. Dog game brought people to facebook. So facebook data mining said all right and i think zinger had some crazy evaluation at the time game in which you would grow virtual crops and livestock with the freedom to design your your very own farm as you wanted anyway. It's it's it's over. The company announced that as of december thirty first twenty twenty farmville would drift into the sunset along with rest of the flash based world. Here's another r.i.p for twenty twenty. Google play music now. I don't know if you ever use google play music. I did for a period of time. They use included some other subscription. Google did across various services. I don't know about the name they had to play store. Google play music it kind of made sense but they have recently made this really strong push into youtube music bringing everything under that heading and there was i guess no need. It was redundant having this google. Play music once. They brought everything over Once he brought everything over to youtube there was no need for exist. And it took a little while for some of those for all the features to show up there now and so it's It's the end for this particular app. I don't know how. I feel about it totally. I'm the youtube music thing. Well for one it does something. That's irritating me recently. What's a i manage more than one youtube account. And if i am on the desktop and i got a web browser version of youtube music open and i'm just sifting through the youtube music as you would be doing if i switch my youtube accounts on a separate window. It will pause my youtube music and say you have logged into another account blah blah blah. But i switch accounts in any given day fifty times so this is terrible if i was playing a song on youtube directly in a browser window just playing my show penn okay. Yeah i might be playing some show peh playing this morning then it will remain playing no matter many times. I switch between accounts. So i know they can do it and i know. This is a terrible feature google youtube. Listen to those stopped. I never want music to stop. When i'm working and shifting between accounts. I know it's a specific thing for me and over your complaining and nothing's getting maybe something's gonna change. I can't be the only one complain about this. Maybe i am next. Nintendo three d. s. You probably seen one of these in your life very popular hugely popular but believe it or not. It came out all the way back in twenty eleven. Nintendo has kersey. Keep making these things for nine years and but wildly popular and they you know they kept on making it attractive by adjusting the packages that it would come in and the price point and everything else relative to the other products It was innovative at the time. It was right around the three d. hype train for tv's which never went anywhere and obviously for gaming it really didn't go anywhere either. But i remember when i first took a look at. I was like that actually worked without glasses. Yes actually three d and it was the dual screen experiment. Nintendo has never been afraid to experiment with formats far as games game consoles games. Things like this. The switch is another example of it. The we was we crazy thing when it came out into the three d. s. was the same it sold seventy six million units but it's Yeah it's done for now. They're gonna stop selling it. So that's another loss as far as twenty twenty concerned at least in the case contender. You have lots of new stuff to choose from another one if you scroll down a little further interesting to me chrome apps. I don't know if you ever experienced a chrome app to next one down there you go. This is like when an application doesn't a web based application doesn't have an application for your operating system. They only have the web version actually would be the way. we're using. That new app twists something like that where shout twist expect that. They don't have a desktop application. It's just a web browser based application and so it will be this this rapper around the website to make it act more like a native app right. Yep and i don't know what i don't know why they're getting rid of it. I think while. I mean you have your. They're quote. they're significant. Progress has been made in the modern web and its ability to deliver first class user experiences. Yeah of course. The modern web is great. But i think it's more along the lines of they want you in chrome in real chrome as much as possible if that means keeping your applications inside the browser your emails that already there and your messaging app and whatever else. Why do they wanna give you this. Desktop style to tweet deck. I think uses something like that if i recall correctly. It's just the web interface re wrapped. So maybe that'll be lost in the shuffle but anyway it's not. This has nothing to do with extensions by the way. No that's what i was thinking. I although just based on previous experience with software development a little bit wollo very loud. Give us the backstory. Well no just the pudding anything in like. Rappers is Guys natalie it could be pretty intensive like resource intensive nasty kind of buggy as well so. Yeah it's not the way intended to be used so any. I don't think anyone's gonna cry over that. I'm sure somebody will. Actually somebody will be like. I used function all time. Mixer remember mic sir barely. Yeah mixers getting shut down for real. It was weird because it got. I mean they had this huge launch and then it never took off and then microsoft was like i don't know should we be in this game at all and then they sold it right. Did they not. They sold her to facebook. I recall and then within a partner were facebook gaming. Just integrate into facebook gaming in the mixer named is off right appears to be the way that they've done dot but yeah i mean we got a guy playing called duty zone right now. Facebook gaming redirects the most makes her dot com redirects.

Maybe greta garbo is more your speed wizard of oz kind of thing. So why are you breaking. Said silence with me. Right now is you're you're lifting expectations. I don't know if i keep up. But i'll i'll do my best. I do talk every day. Adjust don't talk to you and your colleagues at espn on television. Every day I it's not every a chance to guess up on your friends. Also eight hasn't begun yet so we'll see a suspect they'll be on occasion. It'll be a little a little strange but mostly it will be great. I that's a. You're only a mind like yours would come up with a with an analogy like that. It's i think of it as a obviously a good thing for daryl and something He wanted to do which is awesome. And i think a good thing for the sixers and you know. God bless him for getting to that answer. I think it's i think it's a great answer. And regardless of the oddity of it make my simple. I've been sixer fan and rockets fan more than the other teams for a while. I can continue to school. Yeah i want to know how much you've actually gotten to watch year-old team your old franchise. "zinger" Discussed on This Day In Esoteric Political History

"Incumbent having an advantage in that case yeah, we should also talk. About that debate because it really was the first time that social media and in particular twitter was acting as the spin room. So you have these been rooms that pop up where the president and the Challenger supporters of the debaters supporters try to spin as well as they can to the media for their candidates and early kind of of punditry and in two thousand twelve. Even the people who were supposed to be acting as Obama's spinners are watching on twitter because they thought the debate was not great, but it wasn't terrible but when they see sort of the conventional wisdom. On twitter that this was not just a bad debate but the end of everything that Obama just lost the election and that was being picked up by like Chris Matthews on MSNBC and now was going all the cable news channels and it was becoming these storyline they were like Oh. We have to do something about this because we weren't present enough on twitter to challenge this coalescing wisdom and also what a bad first debate does though it gives you the. Opportunity for a comeback which my God does everyone in politics and I guess every humans as we like stories, what we like, but yet the Obama campaign themselves and they're out there they have most of the podcast these days they'll tell you how chow truly concerned they were. But when he came back against Mitt in debates two in three wind in their cells. So coming back a little bit to this eight debate, it's a vice presidential debate I think in general. Vice presidential debates don't move the needle but Nikki do debates at all move the needle even at the presidential level, I mean the Cam when they reinforce a particular message that people already have about a candidate So take for instance, in Nineteen, seventy, six when Gerald Ford was debating and he says during the debate that there is no Soviet domination of eastern. Europe There was Soviet domination of Eastern Europe and it fed into this idea that Ford was already kind of. A caretaker president filling in for Richard Nixon who had resigned two years earlier because Watergate and this idea that he just didn't quite have a grasp on probably what was for many people one of the most important foreign policy issues of the day was a pretty hard thing for him to overcome. Afterwards I was thinking about that moment and I was thinking about a couple of other moments that were flash points and was contrasting it with twenty twenty and when you compare the. A factuality or how much of a stretch saying there is no Soviet domination I mean obviously Gerald. Ford knows what what Soviet satellites are and WHO's behind the Iron Curtain and he later said I meant the spirit on I think that's so much more explicable and understandable. Then I'm not exaggerating at least twenty-five things that Donald Trump asserted in the last debate and I was thinking of. The CY moment of there you go again, that Ronald, Reagan encore, which was like killer blow, and let's just contrast that to what we saw not only in this debate. But in the twenty sixteen debate as if a sigh and a shake of the head and a disappointed look in the eye that could be what the American people respond to as the positive moment of debate it's It's like we're living on different planets. George. H.W. Bush checked his watch during the debate and that became a Houston which by the way actually think is like I think it does matter like I mean, this is such a visual Yemen. He was. So clearly out of his element, not realizing that you don't make that kind of gesture when you're on television and sort of fit in but I mean, but for that to be Google top debate moments and it's like a candidate checked his watch. How much time was left Imagine doing that now you have to pull an iphone out of the pocket what a scandal. Oh my gosh. The number of conspiracy theories that would follow that Okay. So I want to come back to old Lloyd Bentson here and I just WanNa know one thing about how this line has lingered through history. So first off. So obviously, it's a famous line and I think people. Were recognize a, but it is also has it's really interesting history of subsequent vice presidential and other debates. People refer to this line now and it's kind of in the like Lingo of debates and so in ninety two at the. Republican national convention but Ronald Reagan There was another eight dynamic and ninety two with reading on the side of Bill. Clinton, on the younger side and Ronald Reagan has the line which I hadn't. I didn't know about until we started researching this at the ninety two convention Ronald Reagan says this fellow Clinton that they've nominated claims he's the new Thomas. Jefferson. Well, let me tell you something I knew Thomas Jefferson. He was a friend of Mine and governor you know Thomas Jefferson that is such a good. In, such a lot. But then at the ninety two vice presidential debate with Gore and quail, they refer to the comparison and saying I'm not going to compare to Jack Kennedy and in two thousand, twelve Joe Biden Kinda made a similar quip and I guess there aren't that many call backs in vice presidential debates, but it is starting to get to that moment. You know and it's like we've done one too many call bax. They've one other there's one other quote the John Nance Garner quote about the vice presidency not being worth a warm bucket of Piss. Janati. Cut, we'll see if it comes. To It on Mike pesca host of the gist, the daily podcast from slate. Thank you so much doing this. This is really fun Uraga my pleasure and Nicole Hammer. Users like Barack Obama Joe Biden Elon, Musk and Bill Gates sent tweets promising to quote enrich the community. Send A bitcoin payment. They said and will give you back double. The amount you sent. The tweets came from their verified accounts. The ones marked with a little blue check marks that tell you it's really them. Only, it wasn't really them. All a scam the accounts had been hacked. The tweets were flagged quickly, but not quickly enough. Apparently hackers pocketed more than one hundred thousand dollars before the tweets were removed according to Forbes. This isn't the first time twitter's been hacked, but it marked the worst breach in the company's history. The hack left users and shareholders rattled amid new questions about the platform security. We don't have a functional studio and so By getting ahead a little bit We're GONNA we're going to handle that situation logistically a little better. So the content river keeps on flowing even while we are loading gear into u hauls and moving across the street that being said well when the show today we have a special guest Mr Kevin Zinger of Zinger. And just like he told me earlier like Zarre bizarre. Russia's Ceesay mean is pronounced Zee. Welcome Sir thank say about smoking tires. Be while there. How's it? How's it going on your half of Los Angeles all? It's a very nice evening turning into twilight beautiful around my home And it's a pretty typical workday. I'd say on the engineering side that were having very productive days through our VPN network and The factory is less productive because we have a small crew there were. We're mainly doing to support the local medical community and also in Texas were or manufacturing the equipment facials mass and related pb equipment using our Plastic Three D. printing equipment. So there's a skeleton crew there. That's that's so you you you got a couple of companies going on. And they're they're intertwined I learned about divergent which is the three D. Printing Company A couple of years ago I had some conversations with one of your people about trying to drive. Something called the blade which I still love to drive if it still exists somewhere And then now. We've got the singer car which is a different thing a new thing so tell me how all this works. Kevin. Well I'd all works is that You know having cofounded a car company and Co founded the Battery Company and having grown up in Cleveland with brothers as Karma Gannex Most of my life has been fixated on cars and building cars and thinking about cars and one thing you very quickly learned is been when you're going to design a car and build a car. The biggest issue is turning those ideas and that engineering and how into an actual physical structure. That is the car right. Yeah hard looks as they say. Yes so you look. For example you go to build an EV. You're even converting A car into an easy. That's an existing internal combustion. Engine car When I was running an easy company I ended up spending more on Just retooling the body to convert it to a EV from an internal combustion. Engine car like about two hundred billion dollars. And that's over in China where it is cheap as it can be more on that than I spent on building for designing really the First Press Matic Automotive Battery Module Act Thermal Management Battery Management System in that a million square foot manufactory which opened in two thousand ten and gene spent more money on retooling that garden all that technology developed and I looked at it and said this is what is broken in this industry. This is what is actually truly broken

"Today. We're taking a look at a quotes from Benjamin Lefty Ruggiero. Ruggiero was a notorious thug and is thought to have murdered twenty six people during his thirty years working for the New York via with reputation as a loyal soldier for the banana family. It's hardly shocking. That he wants said a little violence never heard anyone. This catchy Zinger is attributed to reject Rogelio in the memoirs of former FBI agent. Joseph pistone. Who spent time in deep cover with the mafia hosing as a jewel thief named Donnie Brasco? Pistone had convinced Ribero to bring him into the banana crime family. Soon after they met in the early nineteen seventy s. Ruggieri's relationship with the man he knew as Donnie BRASCO began to blur the lines. Between professional and personal to lefty Rasco was a close friend. And protege someone. He could pass on his wealth of racketeering experience to Roscoe run the bookmaking business and he often dined at rose home with his family. In the Mafia the divide between friend and colleague is inherently muddy to bring a new member into the family is to vouch for them by opening the door to the banana organization. Lefty had staked his life on brass goes loyalty. Which means that if things went sideways both of their lives would be forfeit. A career spent dealing in these life and death. Absolutes may have walked reg- aero's comprehension of violence to him. Aggression was a form of currency something to be bonded and sold and as a racketeer. Bloodshed was a key part of the business model without the threat of violence. His Marx would have less incentive to open their wallets. Of course those threats had to have true weight behind them which is where. Aero's reputation came into play during his criminal career. He murdered twenty-six people either to serve his own interests or those of the people paying him when the occasion called for it he reached for his two pistols one for each hand. Earning him his other nickname to guns. According to pistone regierung may have had a reputation as a killer but in his everyday life he didn't often resort to violence to him. It seemed bloodshed was a business transaction. And if that upset You well. That wasn't his problem. What was his problem was Donnie BRASCO agent? Stones initial assignment was a six month. Sting to gather information about truck hijacking but eventually it grew into almost five years of working undercover gathering Intel on Jero and his associates in the banana family when his superiors finally ordered an end to the operation. In July of Nineteen eighty-one they visited the head of the crew. Sonny black in person to tell him the truth about brass goes identity for the mistake of allowing an FBI agent to infiltrate the Mafia sonny black was murdered and had his hands cut off by his fellow mobsters. It was a fate that was meant to await lefty Jero as well but he was arrested and held in custody by the FBI for his own protection and for the protection of their undercover agent at reject rose trial prosecutors revealed that he had made a concerted effort to find and kill agent pistone wants his betrayal was revealed but he never got the chance. The evidence pistone had collected led to over one hundred convictions including Gyros ironically for a man whose business was governed by murder kindness to someone. He took a friend had been his undoing in the end regierung might not have seen the in little violence but he certainly felt the painful sting of betrayal.

Jeff & Phil Discuss Parasite's Historic Night at the Oscars

"Fans of the show know that we are. We are huge fans of the movie parasite Peres parasite parasite and this having this three weeks ago. Right but we are still feeling the glow off of parasites Huge died at the Oscars. The sweep it was. Yeah it was parasites just Night to shine in every major category was nominated was the story. I mean it was like the it was like this year's like every every Oscar. Your this is the story that comes out of it but it was like it's about this movie from South Korea coming and just blowing everybody away. I mean that's It's it's just an undeniably good film. And so I think it got. It's one of those. He's going Oscars where you know it. It was up all these major awards and certainly would get the foreign language or whatever. It's called the national feature right. Everyone's like that's you know that's a foregone conclusion but a lot of people were like. It should win best picture. It should win best director probably like maybe to invest director. But if there's probably not GONNA win best feature. That has never actually happened before right. We're going from never having seen a Korean film nominated for anything. Yeah right in the past and then all of a sudden having this one film win best picture best director best screenplay best original screenplay right and then also best or national feature and every single time the build continued with bond coming out again and again to thank everybody and probably get increasingly drunk. Charming is held by the way this guy I mean. He knew how to do award season like that whole circuit right but then every time we got up on stage is like through another charmer. Zinger at the audience. In Your Life. How can you give this guy all the awards you know? He's like unaffected. He's got a quirky sense of humor. I wanted to also shout out his interpreter and his interpreter. Sharon Choi is now the toast issues. I mean yeah she over. The course of the award season became also like a sort of minor celebrity in her own right right and so gained fan following. So I'm a fan. I'm if anybody else knows her we'd love to have her as a guest on the show hundred yet honestly I'm a fan of like just pretty much. Everybody who would anything into that movie? Yeah parasites key grips. Yeah best graphs. You know it's like it was. It was an end to end. Just glory of a film in so many ways and I think the thing that that it's most staggering for me is the degree to which I did not believe this was going to occur degree to which I was already pre apologizing on behalf of America and this this local awards show the Oscars because it seems so likely that the you know decades and decades of racist exclusion of Asian and asian-american stuff was going to continue and It just blew my face my skull. You know I I also was like I don't know by the time. Oscar night rolled around. I think people were pretty stoked about it about parasite a fever kind of hit the town And I'm speaking of someone who live in Los Angeles. So there's I mean like we marinate it. There's a there's they say that They're all these different. They're only there. Are there many seasons? But there's a war season so I was I was I don't know but I'd love allowed myself to feel like maybe this could happen. And then yeah and this probably setting myself up for complete crushing disappointment. And then I'd have something to complain about at the new Oscar but holy shit you know like at the end of the night and you're like Oh my God. There's a whole giant group of Korean setting on Stage Roy out. This is amazing. I believe Koreatown was was lit I mean my understanding is that bong the rest of the cast and crew did not make it to the Designated Party. That was until like one forty six. Am or something like that and then hit creatine afterwards. Yeah reporting is reported that they they shut down a restaurant and basically was there till six in the morning and well you know they deserved it and every every since I obviously was not an entirely undiluted moment of joy because you know it's something we talked about before but The awards went to Bong and went to the movie. They did not go to the actors deserved across the board. And the ensemble is so incredibly good and such a huge part of making this movie work yet. None of them were were recognized with a nomination individually right right right. I mean that's and that's been A. That's a trend. I mean any. Somebody pointed out that any any film that has been had nominated for multiple awards at the Oscars almost all of them have have been devoid of nominations for the actors right from Crouching Tiger to everything back to the last emperor saga millionaire life of Pi. It's like this is not. This is not a coincidence. Know what I mean so there is. There's something here where Asian performers Asian bodies are sort of like are invisible. Actually when it comes to sort of be recognized in this way I totally agree. I feel like there are a lot of reasons for it down to the sort of feeling in some ways that Asian films genre right even disregard. What kind of films are they actually are the the idea that Asian film is Genre? Not just Korean film or Japanese film attorneys when whatever but the Asian the relegates them to a category and a specific category that essentially flattens out the contributions required to make the film film right. Now I say this in part because I feel like the biggest reason these actors were not being reckoned. They're two huge reasons. Right one is that they were unfamiliar to Hollywood. Yeah as actress themselves we know. Hollywood is kind of a clubby place. Yeah if you've been nominated before you're more likely to be nominated again if you know. There's just a whole sense of expectation in the game right which is just like a crime considering someone like so gung. Ho is like you know. He's a national treasure. It right yeah. He's got a huge cannon of Eric shows an incredible amount of rain and yet I think the way they they see him as he did a great job in the sort of supporting actor role as part of an ensemble right like his own. Individual performance gets flattened out again. It's GonNa it's GonNa be funny because a lot of people are going to start like sort of discount on their path of discovering Korean cinema. Right this dude is in every movie for twenty years. But it's too late at least for for this award season but the other reason frankly is. I don't think that people know how to pronounce. People's names I or or write them properly and they've as a result and also frankly they don't speak English fluently in some cases loonies other people and it means that it takes more effort. You can actually give them press i. It was easier. I think for for Neon to sort of hype the film overall as a phenomenon. Then it was to actually try to do a serious effort to to get you know acting awards and I'm not putting it on them. Yeah Sort wasn't it wasn't a neon Yeah it would have been so you know. I'm not putting on them. But the way that the press works is Kinda need to be fed and if it's not easy for them to eat if they have to actually shell the shrimp Kinda pull the meat out of the crab legs. Then they won't eat it regards. How great the buffets metaphorically but they did walk away with the SAG. I mean they on some the Tom Board. Yeah but that's I recognize as actors. I mean it's recognizing their good actors is not recognizing collectively. That good acting happen right right. But it wasn't recognizing them as individuals being this stripping their individual Surv- identities outright. Yes it was applauding the Asians. Yeah and again. It's great and you know. I'm glad that they actually got that recognition collectively but let's also acknowledge that it's not just them but there were many performances by Asian actors in predominantly non English speaking films that effectively went right under the radar for the Academy Award

Joe Burrow, LSU complete dream season to win the national title

"Morning after. LSU's national championship. Victory over Clemson We are still here in New Orleans. Bruce what what do you think will be your lasting image of the game you know. I don't I don't know I mean because it was a lot of thoughts going through my head just seon beyon- early on like when suicide next to me in the press box it felt like for the first couple of drives were not breath not much is going on but then Clemson at LSU backed up their territory. Lot Zero blitzing. They they definitely I think Brent Venables had the LSU offense the ants on its heels and then clemson started to go a little bit in Clemson's did some big plays and I don't know what point was seventeen seven or or something along the lines of that. I I think our colleague Ari Wasserman put out something that was like who covers Ohio state as if it's unclear We all know it's unclear whether this is just a blatant troll job or not. He's after watch. It was early in the game when he said watching these teens. I'm really to do tweets. It was another another one that was a reference to while. Lsu like they were fortunate that they got Oklahoma. 'cause they wouldn't have gotten through like your comes to blow out from Clemson. We saw this movie the last year against Alabama at remember thinking. This offense is GonNa get going where I didn't really expect. Stu was Trevor Lawrence his talented in his as gifted as he is looked more like a freshman last night for you on Monday night then he did last year against Alabama when he actually was a true freshman and Dan so to see that You know it was just like Whoa here at combs it was like an avalanche and it felt like this where I was going with that it felt like when we were sitting there watching it was like all right. Clemson feels like that dominated the first the first half but at one point it was like that controlled the first half and all of a sudden. Now they're down by one another so now they're like a deep hole and Lsu's getting the ball back. It was just think just felt like this thing was destined to happen. Yeah as I in the Lsu locker room and then went back and wrote Sept- sat down to write. It felt like just it was yet another game where Joe Jonesboro dominated and and was yet another. LSU blow out. And then as I kind of look back in my notes you realize Gosh I can hardly remember it now but this was the game was twenty eight to twenty five early in the third quarter after constant score a touchdown then clemson held LSU and it gets the ball back where the chance to take the lead. And I say that because by the time the game was over you would never remember it. was that close Because we saw yet another Sterling performance format from borough Jomar. Chase was unstoppable You know I wrote primarily about borough in my column from the game because I think what we just witnessed was without question region. The greatest season a college quarterback has ever had and to the point. Where you know you and I had podcast in the past where we talked about we debated Cam Cam? Newton's amazing season Vince young amazing season where they ranked in the in the Where they ranked his players right among all time? Great College players. Joe Borough rush like Cam. Newton is gonNA remember for just one season but Each through sixty touchdowns sixty and so oh just to put that in perspective that great Excuse me that great Vince. Young season he had thirty eight D.. Accounted for thirty eight rushing and passing touchdowns Ashdown's Tommie Frazier Ninety Five Nebraska. No that was a different era. He accounted for about two thousand yards of total offense. Borough when you put in his rushing six thousand yards of offense offense and they did it against a schedule that was so tough that when the final. AP poll came out Late Monday night. LSU had beaten five of the top eighteen which were pretty sure has never been done before it was And and and all and by the end you know. We're talking about things things here. That was see that if you had told me what an August that this would happen. I would say that's impossible. And yet he made it look so easy in these games that it certainly didn't impossible while you're watching it. It just seemed like Oh okay yet. Another game where the other defense. DB's can't stop these receivers and boroughs making all the right. Throws Rose is interesting. I spent a lot of the three days down here in New Orleans in the inside with Lsu and a lot of meetings in which just comes back to his hey we got number benign. It was like in there is talking about like any. NFL personnel person. Or anything like that but then there is Joe. Bureau was so much better than any other quarterback in the country because of how he operated this system are poised is how accurate. How great he is off script when the defense does something I don't know why feel compelled to touch on this but you know obviously you have this back and forth over the last. Probably Five Years About Cam Newton where he was the one thing I would. I'd say Cam Newton had nobody around him. You know the the only thing close to him as an NFL prospects even remotely was fairly on the other side of the ball. Joe Borough Roll. Had Mortiz went wild last night he actually had three drop passes well. Aj Terrell is considered to be a really good cornerback and and the poor guy gave up to fifty plus yard catches to chase in the first half. They eventually had to switch to a new to trying trying different DB On him. Well Oh I think what you were saying. I totally grew the greatest Offensive seem season. We've seen from a from a college quarterback but I would ask you this and haven't done enough research on it. You know their body work as a team matches up with anybody right and they. We beaten some some really good teams by double digits now to me and I I would argue that the Miami Ed Reed that team as the most talented team. The what I do think is like this team hasn't loaded with the level of. I think ridiculously future hall of fame kind of pro bowl guys. I mean we'll see I mean. Obviously the gap between Kendra. The chip Kelly Oregon offenses that took college football by storm in time. Seemed unstoppable. Darren Thomas was the quarterback right. It wasn't a guy who's going to be the number one pick in the draft maybe think about some of these Oklahoma offenses recently. Certainly certainly the ones with Baker Mayfield Cuyler Murray season those offenses were prolific. But in both cases they eventually ran into a team that was more talented than them and was able to at least neutralize it. Lsu I think an an order on his set it and I think it's true what we saw. This season was just the perfect storm and the perfect combination of the quarterback. The offense that job Brady brought in the play calling reis even Zinger and just this insane set of receivers and also Clyde. You know who you're right about. Oh my gosh. That guy is unbelievable. A tackle them last night. Just every everything that needed to lineup lined up. I think it was the thing that you know not to go too.

Jets' Sam Darnold out with mono, could miss weeks

"Is the jets season already over. That's number four it. It feels like it. It certainly feels like it from the jets fans that I know who have already just like Oh my God. It's not even mid-september yet so that's how it felt just after game one right before mono for the seventy and sixteen loss to the bill seventeen unanswered points and and even by the instant jets Adam Gay standard a really astonishing press conference to explain or really not explain anything anything that had happened in the game where he said in a quote. That's the beauty part being a head coach. I can basically do what I want. That was in response to someone asking about apptime Montgomery snap count leave. That's response to talking about time Montgomery that how are you GonNa talk about Sam Darnold having mono or Levian bell getting an MRI on his shoulder anything actually consequential. When do we think Sam Darnold had mono because they got the ball back with like a little less than three minutes left down one? They only had two forty yards at home for riphil goal and they looked like an absolute shit show. I don't know I think that's that's a question after today's announcement because he's it sounds like he's GonNa miss a Lotta time unclear how much the things that they said is that he lost a ton of weight so then you wonder about his physical readiness CBS last week even to play like what was his conditioning. What was his stamina? Maybe that did have some sort of a fact act. I don't know but I think it's one of these jets stories where the instant reaction on twitter and on the Internet was like low mono and it's like you're saying it's actually not funny. It's a serious illness and yeah yeah. It is terrible way to derail the beginning of Sam Darnold Sophomore Season boot because it's the jets the impulse to say oh my God like how many things are gonNA happen to the jets only heading into week two and they have their Monday night football. They have the browns game on Monday night. The browns Ashley also coming off a disappointing week. One is kind of like instantly feels like a must-win game for both of these teams you look at the schedule. There's a real chance especially with donald out that they can start cr Owen sex like a real chant what happened to the line today. After the motto announcement the Browns went from minus three to minus seven yeah I mean that seems reasonable right. Ever seen is going to play quarterback as reasonable. If you actually watch Sam Darnold last weekend but go ahead of schedule the schedule is browns this week loss New England and week three loss by and week for a very very fortuitous bye week placement. They're good for the jets fans just emotionally they get they get a brief reprieve early in the season and then it's Philly Dallas in New England again brutal brutal that's L. draft picks Levian who by the way they might be injured when rusher but him but he would have to go nuts and one of those games levy on bell unclear what the severity he is. He's got soreness in his shoulder getting an MRI CJ Moseley. They're big ticket from Raven. One of my one of my favorite is good in the first half of the jets. He looked fabulous to give him a huge contract. He's hurt art sounds like he's progressing well but it's unclear when exactly he'll be back the already loss quincy for the entire season first round draft pick from the past draft when Williams it's not practicing right now ankle injury. If a lot of injuries mounting they had to they had to elevate Luke faulk Washington state talk on this podcast yeah so far I was not expecting us yeah from the practice squad to get ready to be the backup quarterback for Monday night football game that is now the place you WanNa be in week a two and then geese all of this get off his his announcement today of the Darnold mono illness was so bizarre like even by hi. The Adam Gates bizarreness scale standard. Here's what he said. Fourteen has mono and we'll be out for this game. You can't say you're starting quarterback's name name fourteen. He then continues so trevor will be starting okay big for all of our trevor say like nine starting. It's strange and then you can use in Luke. Falk will get elevated at some point. It'd be the backup so that would be that that he concluded then then the other thing that happened this week is that manish head report and the Daily News that way in case was still at the dolphins he broke the story SARCI prefer he was in love with one quack fell in love with the tape that he was crunching the film that he was studying. Oh it's Baker Mayfield okay sign like probably a lot of NFL front offices and coaches thought Baker Mayfield was the best quarterback in the draft. That's fine. Here's here's ears this Zinger bill he reportedly also preferred Josh Allen to Sam Darnold and did not quote didn't believe that Darnold had star potential so that's the thing that's now out in the world and even though he wasn't the jets doesn't matter it's like the thing that people are talking about is that Adam could would be made up sure I mean it could be somebody just league in that too mannish just to screw a random guess. It's definitely possible is just like the general tenor around Jason. The team makes it kind of hard. Doubt anything you here. It's one of those situations pretty pretty quickly gotten to that place like again you back to the way he was talking. After after the bills loss in just like the line played like shit the receivers played like shit the DB's played like shit you know he wasn't actually using foul language processing but he was pretty willingly throwing hired knitting them right because he's a Dick and Peyton manning is a hall of Famer of all time WHO's like show I kinda I like this Dick. He just says his mind Cher and he can handle it but if you put somebody like that with a young team in young quarterback in the big city might not be here I I am. I made excuses for news of Miami because the roster they did so many weird things for that. It was even hard to evaluate fused coach but I don't like anything he's done so far at the jets. He just seems kind of like a jerk. Never forgot that this is a man who said that the Internet and social media are pollution of the brain while he might not be wrong in that. I just want to say one thing on mono. Yeah 'cause I do think people underrate it and I think think it all stems back to a famous Brady Bunch episode seventies where it became you know it's a sitcom that was one of the formative shows has the seventies everybody under the age of I would say thirty five in every brady bunch probably right kyle over thirty five nine hundred thirty five kiling once I had had monitor just didn't watch other Brady thirty five over I would say at least knows all the brady bunch episodes right and that kind of made light of motto and it's like Yeah you can actually he died from on how you can get on school and not come back for two months right. It's like making kissing jokes but it's weird. It'd be like Kazan. darnold might have leukemia but models like really bad. It's it's it's terrible for Sam. I feel bad for my feel bad for jets fans and I wish that it's not realistic to wish for the fans to be able to enjoy a winning football team. I think the DADS fans host winning post football ball enjoyment. I wish now post apocalypse for the jets

Weekend: Tarantino's Hollywood of 1969; Michael McDonald's voice; RIP NOLA legends and more

"Michael McDonald's voice is perhaps one of the most recognizable in pop music could be due to his hits with the Doobie brothers could also be related to the hip hop artist who sample his records but frame producer Jonathan Shift let has another theory aimed since the mid nineteen seventies MacDonald has performed background vocals on hundreds of recordings by other artists see if you recognize him in this bit from steely Dan movie talk to you hello. This is Michael McDonald. You know that was a kind of an elite group in L._A.. Area that I really always felt very proud to be a part of I got to single awesome pretty great singers Howard you James Ingram Luther Vandross Michael Jackson and I always kind of felt like that was a real feather in my cap to be able to step up to the Mike with those guys and it was also great way for me to get get in the studio in here stuff before it was actually released. It's Kinda like being a fly on the wall background singer back. That's how I got the job of student Davos up working at casuals with some of the guys who were actually playing rhythm section on records and <hes> and singing backgrounds for those guys selling. Another records that they were doing I did Kinda get used to hearing me sing with myself and I realized that there's something to that when the same singers Zinger sings all the parts. There's a certain psych sibling harmony. You're you're probably tighter with yourself in anyone else on the planet it's going to be you know which is what Donald and Walter did with me for the steely Dan track bad sneakers curse you suddenly realize that's kind of sound that you probably wouldn't get any other way but to use the same person singing all the parts and then doubling all the parts so that was really one of the first times I became keenly aware of that sound which some people bowl think of as the Michael McConnell background sound but then on subsequent records toward people were saying well. How did you get that sound? I could say well you know I I did all the parts of myself and double them go. Let's do that we can talk about all those recordings that you run for a long time but I just wanted to fast forward a little bit to some of the more recent collaborations that you've donald sure sounds like grizzly bear to me yeah very unique band grizzly. Grizzly bear <hes> and I I really came out of the blue they contacted me and I had not heard the van but they sent me a track and it just was so fresh and different end is seemingly abandoned was is really trying to exercise a certain kind of musicality Abner Amanda Schone Swim <hes> just did that record not that long ago seemingly <hes> House and Santa Barbara where they had kind of camped set up camp in Amanda her mom was Donna Summer and I met Amanda which is about ten years old is first time matter and all these years later singing on record twitter as my friend Steve Brunner Aka under a great experience. I have to give credit to Kenny loggins on that. One Kenny's <UNK> SON had heard Steve in an interview kind of mentioned myself and Kenny is a couple of his influences. His son you know was a big fan of thunder cat as was my daughter at the time and so his son contacted Kenny. Kennedy and dad you gotTa call this guy and maybe write something with them. You know so Kenny kind of reached out to Steve Steve got back to us and we all got together studio in Ojai California and listened to a bunch of music together together which was great fun and then we decided to write that tuned together <hes> something Steve had already started and so we added are two cents in <hes> Steve went and mixed in general question. What are you looking for? If anything in these kinds of collaborations I think just a chance to find something that strikes match for army and I I look in every direction for that. You know not just new artists in new collaborations with contemporary artists. I still look to the past for a lot of my inspiration laid on the bus last night my headphones on listening losing two hours of Curtis Mayfield. He's just you know some of those groups are just so infectious and so wonderful in his lyrics of course just so stream of consciousness and so poignant you know much like the guys he's like Steve Brunner Anderson and Kendrick Lamar those guys of today they're just kind of breaking new ground and he was definitely unique voice for Modern Soul Patrick one or two Michael McDonald performs at the Hollywood bowl on July thirty first and that's it for this week. The frame is produced by the mighty team of Oscar Garza Darby Maloney Jonathan Shiffling Julia.

"Casinos Inga's show with me, your host Agostino Zinger. And this is episode number two zero one dos. Ono. No, no dose zero Rudo actually goes by getting a bit rusty. How you guys doing how you? My rusty rusty rusty Dooley. Go Spanish to one side, who because I feel well hydrate arrested and stop his first morning somewhere in the depths of east London. And I'm your humble and gracious house here to round up some of the most important, some of the most important, cultural events have happened this week on the incident. So he wants to be a YouTube thinking again for tuning in kick, like subscribing, without Milwaukee. If it should be a podcast app, laugh along when you finished while leave me a five star review. Right. But before we do that, before that good stuff. We celebrate right? Because as I there yesterday was Wednesday and an important bit happened on Wednesday and I'm not the kind of person that does this usually. But there's something about this current group of fans that really rows me gets on my nerves or anytime. I've seen him suffering anytime that they're upset anytime that they're crying, anytime today, I'm questioning their life traces any time they contemplate and change. Teams I get glory, glory and satisfaction from it. And if you wonder I could see no, well, you wondering are there, actually what you're talking about. I'll tell you what I'm talking about S kit. It. We have to mission. Now we're about series doesn't see limit limit limit quite fucking, right? Just clunky. It's Danica west stop. Up. Where is bad? Gets. Angry someone get stand quickly. Please someone gets done all don't game actually, because if you do get standing, he's going to be completely furious. Oh, good. Let's go. But typically this finding again. What's that? Paris wherever you. And then Josh, you signed the net on the state, even is medals in everything. They can't anything that they give you new call plus Carol. Why? Kwami. Look it up. You won't even saying somebody better long. How many? Fucking walking. Pico triggered a Switzer. Good. Guys. The crowd, right. And if you listen to YouTube, this is from the Gloria is asthma frontier. Could he could trigger so easily? It's like could he he's done this for years that doesn't even know somebody's obviously baiting, but I guess. Bit. Running high anyway. Ossified TV is an also fan. Channel hosted by the guy e head has interviewing the one DT and they go after the games or a prior to the games. They interview some of the most of, you know, colorful fans of the fan base of a clubs have different channels blossoms. If I'm proud to be, probably the biggest one, I think I would have more because there are some of the guys on our viral viral slots for the most part, they do anything in the team wins, their, you know, the gird over the top and saying they're gonna win a championship team loses. You have to so every single, so, you know, how isn't it direction of sports fans? And yeah, it's one of my favorite things to watch whatever team loses also TV because, you know, for the again, for the most part, I'm not that kind of, I'm not that kind of a fan, you know, the kind of find that goes out there and gloats when their rivals losing, and especially when your team is doing that much better as put my she United where could probably going to be one about was periods in time. A recent history really, you know, the last five to six seven years have been a bit into probably forget apart for maybe the European Europe. Elite win buffer, the most part. For the most well, ossified TV's that keeps on giving. You know, I think what is widely accepted? Also finds are probably the worst fans out there, I think after maybe just maybe don't even rival. There have is maybe nipple fans, right? Liberal fans are a little bit to surf absorbed. They take the club to seriously, they call their players by their first names. They sing with songs. They write poems about plays. They like just really bizarre. Right. They defended Luis Suarez when he was when it was quite obvious that he made a racial humidity. He racially abused purchase ever he bit players. He did all sorts of matter nuns as they went out and warriors t shirt. And then he went and celebrate when he's gonna kiss them. And they're still kind of a loved him up all our fan base in general. But also, I think take the biscuit, where is that really got me? Nobel of I think it might have been drained invincible season. You know, they'll insufferable right. It was amazing feat. Don't get me wrong in adults with vegetables were probably one of the best permanently you've seen maybe in recent history. Right. And. Also he goes, just, he's purple patch. But I was always again I always kind of broke contemptible. Also because of how pump is some of their players came across mostly French so coast to have a bit of an arrogant solve a short vibe about them by generally this kind of chemicals that they felt that they were better than the league. Also wearing of courses world humbled in the Champions League with that same team a few time, which is obviously Brooke broiler of relief and Lovejoy to of our privileged friends and yeah, just just just the over, you know. Just a sense of, like you know, as if they'll superior to everybody Lee because I think that time the team playing that kind of brand of football right? Passing out from the back really quick passing. Most of us were playing I say permanent play. Mercy long ball credible in for the wings wing, play those contacts and play. But also, like, you know all about dominate position and killing TS before they, we will come out of the tunnel. So they were probably one of the first one, I dunno technically imposing side. So they kind of enjoy the fruits of being a great footballing side, and obviously, that lows young players coming through us. Remember the FA Cup game that says because played in these other plays and David Bentley just an amazing couple young players, but always felt as if you know, also was kind of running on borough time and of soon as the place. Tight dry up also sort of clubs coming in with big money deal, the Chrysler to show the lack of mentality the lack of winning mentality rack of character decide is so to chrome web of the crumble, and crumble of us has been so satisfied because it's really their friends. Back down to earth, and especially with the money is invested with somebody ever clubs like Lester what walls, we have to watch out for as be. It's really put them into perspective, just how bad situation is. Then they had that big moody emerets, which was build of some way of them to finally compete with the big clouds, bay wasn't really would just have a way for them to generate more money. And now they're in a position where, you know, essentially, they go to cut fighters against Chelsea one of their league rebels. Which they, you know they finished just one place on the Neef rice, or they just know there's one place, separating mapping between four I should, but regardless. Then there's not much between the two sides in gained humbled, four one, and it could have been much much, much more. So again, I'm not the kind of person that glose about things, but it is really satisfied to see them suffering so much because they really rub it in faces when they will do really well. So again, you know what it is? But I'm sure they'll go. You find. No. Getting those hits from it has a cover behind mentioned, but bloody Hillman, it's just honestly, it's the best thing about watching football these days. Right. You watch football asna lose to assign a should lose to watch TV also get also get bad by club that spends much more money to them. Also TV still get bad by club that it should be competing with, what also found TB. Whatever is what just the phone TV check it. Oh you so angry. Well, then why he goes triggered the guy behind him how he gives you been it. You obviously trying to wind him up. And he just goes for the bay just swear. Funky f f f f bomb Zulu over the pavement, you just go for it just furious. Rebutted absolutely boiling. Now, they say they feel so revolt, his wife. This. Somebody's guys. But it again. I don't understand the rage. Like I've come past the point of caring for unite, right? I don't I'm getting angry as I should have because I could see that United issues are similar to also issues. There are a lot deeper than just the players on the managers. Right. You get rid of social to give it of Emory, he'll going to solve anything, right? You bring up the big ticket, manage it. Okay. The solve if you sign Stella big-name place, we're going to solve it. If you have to change your tires Bush after the club. Right. Also at the mobile are run by. An American consortium? Right, for the most part, who are quite this disc detached from the club. They don't necessarily attend games. We don't want to get stick from the fans. They're the only objective is to get taught for football to get to generate income, degenerate. Exposure really go for the biggest plays out there. They're trying to survive on shoestring budget for top for club United same sort of thing that everybody have infrastructure where they can buy top top players are, you know, out head finance guy? It would the ones who charge of signing players, and he doesn't do much of our football, the club shop to the top jumped from owners. Do we have our sense of style? So there's no, I would I wouldn't get that I wouldn't have like a breakdown on camera this if we end up getting beat ten no by by Munich. Right. Because they're so much better now. So if they ended up smacking us, it's because obviously is because the plasma pitch are better than ours. But there's other things I've played that result in a place that we have on the pitch. Right. There's a reason why we end up with like actually young Chris Morley. Phil jones. And other than the still play defense in seven years on because we, we let infrastructure to kind of move those plays on. It's just one of those things. So I wouldn't get that route up. There's something about again, I think is, is the fact that they went into this game. So competent also France, they could be an all a Chelsea team who came into their own till the end of the season, a club within sorry, who plays a particular brand of luckily, lump it, it doesn't you know, he's all these changes you doesn't change star of the play. But he's cultivate this bam play Fratto entire season ever change. It every never deviate, whatever was saying, Joe, Gino was weak link. He did it drop him. He kept on playing him when cancer people saying county should be dragged back to screen the difference. Sorry persistent, Praemium fervor up. There are things that he'd done that he consistently did. Which may be a better football excite attitude. Right. Maybe on paper play for player are separating Josie and also, but I wouldn't have got into it, and also find bin that confident like our this. I watched a couple Frank 'cause prayer and really covered they were going to win and mostly it came off the back of sorry. Stormy out of the training. Grunted furring is there because those koskoff will between they've Lewis. And he just like have you never played football Sunday, League happens over time, standard and sorry look, and if sorry gets a stroke, and kicks a bowl, I don't take indication that the team listen to you just use a bit of he just seems like a volatile character. That's just what he does. Right. You just kind of person always cries angry. He he just use that guidance. I always for things up in the air will.

It was something that was really really proud of. We did have a little bit of a challenge as a company with regards to the platform in Facebook changing around some of the algorithms in which we can message to the community playing the game. And I think zinc had gone through a tremendous amount of learning during that time period of how it's better message to players in the marketplace with meaningful updates in their gaming experiences. Zinger as a company thinking, my no had kind of shot out of the gate IPO with a pretty massive valuation. And then I've gone through some tough times it was as it was transitioning into mobile for messaging became a challenge as the company went through various trials and tribulations people kept on playing with friends kept on playing were to friends and people kept on playing farmville as well. So farmville still continues to do pretty well for us on the Facebook platform, but we're also working on new farmville experiences that are coming out. Okay. So what can you tell people? And then and then on the third part? We've also focused on Manet. So we're able to emerge. There's an acquisition. That's right. That's right. Bringing companies and games that we'd love and we see out in the marketplace into Zinger and bringing them into our family. Thank you for having us Zingo the next game. "Zingers we're doing this McConnell collusion. Cheesy and the best round music and so entertaining nonetheless. But if you're going to do a big tribute to Motown, I don't think this was necessarily the route to go I took the online poll. Yes. The answers were. No. Why was Jennifer Lopez there, and yes, I thought she did great. And sixty six percent of the people thought she did great and went being judgy on it. You know, I and we have audio of her responding after she got off the stage. And I think one of the messages last night is music is everyone's everyone enjoys music of all different genres. No matter what you grew up on. But it was an ad and we talked about this last week. It was an odd pairing. And I think they were just trying to protect CBS. Their Motown sixtieth tribute later this week. That was it that they didn't want to put all this spectacular performances on the Grammy's could they want you to watch later this week. That's what I thought totally makes sense. That theory. Julia. And I see it you see it and my appetite. Yeah. How did we get any comments from anybody? Tom call back door, Tom. He left. He is a fifty something African American male. Who said it was. Okay. It was okay. That's why. Many people of color such as yourself. Right. I don't think that anyone was completely blown away in thought. It was the performance of the Grammy's. Well, and I think that's what everyone knew it wasn't going to be. Yeah. But it was of Las Vegas show because she had she had these fancy pants on where she shook her in her booty and she was doing like an an Margaret move from. Matt what does this have to do with? Exactly. That's why you say Jennifer Lopez the cruise lines, Colin you got Joe. Holly. Okay..

"Or how whatever, but that's just the way it's worked out, and he regrets being on the TV show, or do you think it's been valuable like what what do you want people to know about you outside of the show? I think the only thing I really want to say about that is, you know, you're seeing a part of my life. Archie. So, you know, obviously, people are going to judge in. That's one thing. You know? I really try not be super judgmental. We life is different for everybody. It was a pleasure talking to you. I like you very much, and I'm hopeful that over the fun. But I'm telling you, I think you're gonna meet somebody else. Don't get. I don't want Matt Matt. But I think that's what's gonna I'm not gonna tell them that that because it probably would be make them a little cranky. I don't know. But you know, I met my have something, you know. There are so many. But honestly, like I have to save the messing recently just goes viral people are so obsessed with this Creevy conception of show. So do we know whose idea it was wasn't Nick cannon's idea? No. So this actually generated in South Korea. And it was a huge hit in South Korea. "Because I would say like, like she probably thinks if you're serving through jello, maybe she thinks it like in a room 'cause you don't do that thing using about if you hang out with people that do improv comedy or comedians, like he can't get a word in edgewise. Everybody's just like Zinger Zinger, Zinger Zinger. Just like I will vomit. You know, it's just too much, but I would say they, you. Avid so much energy in and like so much creativity, but you're not all attention-seeking. Thank your very giving a group dude, but it was more like it was like, this is how I want everyone to see me all the time. Like I'm always trying to control everyone's perception of me, you know, and it makes it really and it came up in therapy to too because I was like, this is how I want you see me. I'm so concerned with how you see me and troll empower. You know what I'm your doctor now. So. I think that it would be interesting to explore next time you therapy when he ended. I think a couple of weeks to get that money back, yes. Why we gotta go on tour do them. I would love to go like biweekly. Yeah, that'd be great. You know, that's the name of our podcast tour is a handed therapy like twice a week. I was getting biweekly means every other week. I never know. I think it'd be twice a week. I think it means every other week, oh my God. Someone please let us know good Lord or heaven. But I was gonna say that we've established his podcast as we psychoanalyze each other. Wow, I'm, I'm sorry as we handle is fake you. I was gonna say, I, I think in that people who want to control how they're being perceived or want to control others reactions at cetera. I think that the root of it might be people who've had power taken away and early age. Oh, maybe or one version to explore. That's really because you're always trying to get the power back or there's something there's something that leads you to feel like you don't have the power is trying to get back, right? I never feel like her such a sad way to go through life. I'm gets, you know how like we always have people come over to our house like we host a lot. Illinois, we always are having people coming over and I am so anxious anytime we're in a group because I am so concerned, make sure everyone has everything they need like, do you want to do this to everyone's entertained, everyone's happy and everyone's showing that they're happy, but that's all just about me. I'm not actually being a good host. I'm not. I'm just so anxious takes a. It takes me a long, long time to calm down. Like I can't comfortably sit on a phone in a room, full of people won't do that bags. So I'm looking at all of you. But yeah, and that sex also sometimes in groups, what happens is like we threw threw a party the other week and I was jetlagged I was exhausted. We were engaged. It was like the height of all of that. And we just wanted to tell some friends and family during the couple of days I was in town. It was really, really small. You came up. He said, hi, and then you left before the party, but I really appreciate it that you came up and said, hi because it was a huge deal. And we had this like all day barbecue and I was exhausted. I was exhausted. I was jetlagged, but I was also hosting, right? So I'm like caffeine. Booze to- tired caffeine. Booze so tired, it cetera, et cetera. And I was like, okay, Ella we gotta get everyone all by five comes around. It's not gonna happen. I wasn't even encouraging heaven. All right. We're going to get everybody out by seven thirty eight. Not gonna happen. Oh, by the way I had a flight the next morning toes really anxious to people ended up staying till midnight. Oh, Jesus. Fuck. I know it gets even worse..

"Audience that hasn't been told before but those were addons they were sort of the decoration rather than architecture of the speech and president obama would make edits to that but generally speaking he understood that these speeches are not ending up in the history books he's got other things to do that were well more important and so he would make small changes but often especially in the second term he would just adlib something if he thought he had a better way of putting it in the first term because is the danger of people taking your words out of context and putting them at a campaign ad we were even more careful about making sure that what was written on the page was exactly precisely right in the second term he was a little more willing to edit on the fly one of the think they you did was right zinger as ford debate so how is that worked in like you use right out of context singers to be used as needed jordana it it's there's not a science to it but the best you can do is say well probably our opponents going to say this and if they say this we can say that or this is a way of encapsulated a political argument in one line and so we're gonna make sure that we figure out a way for our candidate to drop that in their somehow so the the singer that i wrote in two thousand twelve that i was very proud of was about governor romney's plans and uh president obama was going to say governor romney refuses to release any details about any of.
