China says it will retaliate after US orders its Houston consulate to close

"With the Chinese. Let's deal with the hacking situation and the story that broke yesterday and even before this, we had heard that the Chinese were actively trying to steal intellectual property on Research for a Corona virus vaccine and it comes down to the Chinese know that this virus originated in Wuhan. The Chinese know that they misled the world. They misled the United States they misled. Originally, the World Health Organisation, which has become complicity with the Chinese. On multiple levels and the Chinese did a disservice to humanity. Let's look at it through the prism and the lenses of us here in the United States. That if they would have let us know in December Or early January what they knew and if the Chinese would have locked down Wuhan sooner, even just a week sooner. They didn't tell their own people between January 14th in the 21st and there was a massive spread and rule on at that point. They don't even tell their own people or they didn't move to lock things down. And again the Chinese Communist government completely to blame here for mishandling and mismanaging and lying to the world. And with that said the Chinese don't want Toby. Shown up that they don't want to be behind the eight ball. They want to also be the ones that say, Hey, we've got the best vaccine against Corona virus. Instead of all of the other pharmaceutical and research and institutions around the world that are working diligently and feverishly. On a vaccine whether it's German scientists whether it's French, whether it's what we're hearing out of Oxford in the UK Fizer here in the United States and, of course, their branches all around the world, Moderna. You know, that's just a fraction of who's working. Johnson and Johnson here in the United States is just a fraction of who's working on this vaccine. And the Chinese were we heard this two months ago. I talked about this on the program months ago that the Chinese were tryingto hack and steal data from all over the world so they could be first. Was saying, Hey, we got the vaccine. And now we have two Chinese hackers that have been formally charged with trying to steal research on the Corona virus vaccine. Trying to steal from private companies trying to steal from our government agencies as well. And this is what came down from the DOJ yesterday. And these two guys apparently work that the Chinese Ministry of State Security and the Gwang Dong State Security Department To lead a campaign, which the DOJ the assistant attorney General, John Demmer said was a sweeping global computer intrusion campaign. That's the nice way to say hacking intellectual property theft just going in and stealing. Chinese are very, very good at this. That's why they've gotten so far militarily. From a industrial standpoint, they stolen countless countless hundreds of billions or trillions. An intellectual property. Lee. Zhou Yu, 34 years old and dung. Jeez, I got zero J A Z a shot. G, uh 31. According to the reports, they targeted intellectual property and confidential business information. Held by Pharmaceutical companies and those that are steaming full speed ahead toward a corona virus treatment. Treatments. So the therapeutics the testing issues, the vaccines they were trying to rip off and bust into everything. And this is what the Chinese have done again. Defense contractors. Why do you think the latest generation of the Chinese fighter jet looks just like the F 35 Because they ripped off was the Lockheed Martin or north of Groman. They They controlled her back in the late to thousands like 8 4009 And they stole a whole lot of defence information on the F 35 ripped it off. So it's defense contractors. They rip off the pharmaceutical companies. A computer high tech medical device companies. The Chinese even have a history of busting into solar energy companies here in the United States video game development They're ripping off information. They're stealing codes. It's nonstop on what the Chinese do their absolute thieves. When it comes to intellectual property. According to the indictment. These malicious cyber activities began more than 10 years ago. And were ongoing as of the date of the indictment, according to AA de MERS. During that time, the hackers stole terabytes of data from hundreds of targets. Establishing themselves as a prolific threat to the U. S and foreign networks. And these charges from the feds. They say that these Chinese hackers tried to access the accounts of other organizations that we're not government organizations. They tried to bust also into dissident organizations or actual dissidents or clergy, human rights activists. Is it trying to get Intel and so they can punish and and go after anything that's a threat to the Chinese Communist. Regime. That's what this comes down to. Yeah, Lee and Dung they were working on high tech companies. That was their focus, but they had a whole team. They work of others, obviously, but Lee and Dung they were, they were focused on busting into high tech companies here in the United States, also in South Korea, and Sweden and Spain, Australia, Belgium, Britain. Germany, Japan, Lithuania Nothing about a stony and Latvia. But Lithuania and these indictments were filed in U. S District Court in Washington. And shows that Beijing is using fight cyber theft. In a worldwide campaign. To quote Robbe replicate and replace non Chinese companies in the global marketplace. And then there's also said that China is providing the safe haven for these criminals in order for the Chinese government to get all this information that these guys were Pretty much on the Chinese kami payroll. China has not taken its place alongside Russia, Iran and North Korea in that shameful club of nations that provide a safe haven for cyber criminals to exchange or in exchange for those criminals being on call toe work for the benefit of the state. Again to feed the Chinese Communist Party's insatiable hunger. For American and other non Chinese companies. And to steal their hard earned intellectual property, including covert 19 research, according to Des Murs, assistant attorney general It's a huge problem it has been, and that's why the Chinese are as far as they are. So on the heels of that now we go to the next chapter. And that's that the Chinese consulate in Houston, Texas, has been ordered closed and, you know he's got his finger on this pulse and is spot on and is not a great job and doesn't pull punches. Mince words. And that's Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubio. He gets and has gotten the Chinese threat for a very long time. And what Marco Rubio said today in Fox Business interview is that the Chinese Consulate in Houston is a front for a massive spy organization. And the State Department has ordered that consulate in Houston. To shut down, he said. This consulate is basically a front. It's kind of the central node of a massive spy operation. Commercial espionage, defense espionage. Also influence agents try to influence Congress, according to Marco Rubio. And by the way, Senator Rubio is the acting chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee. And he said that this closure of the Houston Chinese consulate was long overdue. And he said the State Department Was completely right Team make this move, and the State Department says that this is absolutely necessary to protect intellectual property here in the United States and private information. And of course, the Chinese. They're going ballistic. They're saying that they could retaliate. That this is uncalled for. This is a gray GIs. We could retaliate. China China When you get there, try to get you to send another virus our way. Is that how you going to retaliate? And Rubio also predicted that China Would then retaliate by closing one of our diplomatic facilities. In China. And if you wanna get a snapshot of what we have in China, Of course, we have the official U. S embassy in Beijing, but we have five consulates around China. We have a consulate in Shanghai. We have a U. S consulate in Gwang Ju. We have a U. S consulate and Cheng do and Wuhan Great and in Shenyang, So we have apparently five other Consulates. On top of our embassy. So the expectation is the Chinese going to retaliate by shutting down one of our places. Hey, what about this fire? What about the Houston Fire Department being called to this embassy or this consulate? Has to shut down by end of business like 45 o'clock on Friday. So the Chinese have to shut this thing down and get out by the end of this week. By Friday afternoon, And last night, there was a fire at the embassy Smoke and Houston Fire department responded. What do you think happened? Where was the fire? What were they doing? Hold on to that thought, because we'll wrap up this whole story with that next. Here on Schmidt, I

Scientists say coronavirus can be spread farther than 6 feet in tiny airborne particles

"Meanwhile, more than 200 scientists are now asking the World Health Organization to update its guidance on how the Corona virus spreads in the air. They say fine particles may travel farther than six feet. And fear The current advice may not promote enough protection. Researchers around the world say the evidence is clear. The Corona virus is likely airborne. When we call for sneeze, larger airborne droplets containing virus can travel usually up to about six feet. But smaller particles can be admitted simply by talking or singing and can go much farther and linger in the air for hours. They don't fall to the ground in 60 and they could remain in the air for hours and potentially infectious for hours. What would you like the W. H o to do acknowledge that the risk goes beyond six feet? Dr Don Milton co wrote the letter signed by nearly 240 scientists from around the world. How certain are you that aerosols air playing a significant role in the transmission of Copan, 19 pass a 6 to 8 feet. You look at the restaurant outbreak in Guang Zhou several bus outbreaks in China, and it's clear that one person could infect people over much more than Six feet. In some circumstances. Those aerosols, Khun travel more than 30 feet. Each layer of protection helps like this cloth mask that partially blocks an aerosol from a simulated cough. What implication does that have for somebody in their home or in their office endures. You need to have everybody wearing masks who are not in the same bubble. And that you need to have good ventilation. Improve ventilation systems are a top priority for New York's governor, Andrew Cuomo. If there is a way to filter the air, and there's a way to get Cove it out of the air, then we want to do that. That is CBS's Dr Jon Lapook

UN Special Envoy takes stock of Yemens shift towards peace

"A year has now passed since the government of Yemen and Hutu rebels met in Sweden for US sponsor talks aimed at ending a brutal conflict. That's generated the world's worst humanitarian crisis in an exclusive interview with you a news U N special envoy Martin Griffiths has been reflecting on achievement since the signing of the Stockholm agreement which included key elements such as the establishment of a demilitarized zone around the port city of who data Yemen's gateway for goodson aid as well as prisoner exchanges ranges. Mr Griffiths said the path to peace requires warring parties to abandon hopes for a military victory and instead pursue the huge victory that can be gained through negotiation and he told my Yakub that this shift is happening in Yemen. Although more could be done towards fully implementing the accord. We also believed coming out of Sweden that that the element of the stock agreement which covered data the port city up. On the Red Sea coast of Yemen the humanitarian entry point for the humanitarian program program Yemen was saved from dreadful battle. Now you rightly point out to the fact that many people I'm one of them But if we could have done much better job of implementing the Stockholm Agreement in this twelve bucks on his beaten for many of us particularly for the people in Yemen. For whom it's it's a primary issue Disappointment in many many ways yes set neither have been achievements. There was a prospect at that time of an attack. On the city. Imports of all data. A battle for those two vital hubs of humanitarian program it was avoided it still has been avoided. That has it's been a ceasefire more or less implemented in data people's lives have been saved. The monitoring program has been protected. I I think it also showed that the parties could actually agree on a different way out of a crisis. But it's true there are things which should have gotten much better We still have yet to see major redeployments to demilitarize the city of data. That hasn't happened. We're still negotiating it prisoner release. We've had grave disappointments takeover. This yeah true. Recently we saw hundred twenty eight hundred thirty prisoners released. That was a great step forward but it hasn't been enough so I think the Stockholm agreement. Yes it we came out with a great sense of hope Hope dashed in many ways. But also some considerable achievements we're not forget the humanitarian crisis. That Yemen is suffering from Yemen. Continues to be the worst. The worst humanitarian crisis in the world. This this value situation is contributing to skepticism in certain circles about the possibility of a political solution. How do you see the prospect of apiece in Yemen now compared to one year ago when the agreement was signed well for me? The situation doesn't give me skepticism about the prospects for peace. It does the opposite. And if there's any argument in favor of the need for speed towards a political solution to this war is those people people who daily suffer from the effects of conflict families whose children haven't been to school for five years families who had struggle legal to get food on the plates on a daily basis. That will tell us. We need a political solution. It shouldn't make us skeptical about it but any political solution anywhere in any conflict and I have had the awful privilege of a lifetime of being confronted by conflicts is immensely difficult difficult it requires political will although level which is so much more demanding than in any other to move from water piece peace requires those who lead in war to change the way they look at their constituencies to change the way they look at the potential to end the hopes for military victory and to begin actually reaching out to the enemies and to make them part of the future. It's a huge shift in any civil war. It's a massive shift. What I believe is happening now in Yemen is that at last in Yemen? We're beginning to see that. Shift take place. We're beginning to see in the hearts and minds of those who make decisions about who all the desire to make peace and the recognition Shen at a fundamental level that there is no prospect for military advantage that there is nothing to be won on the battlefield and that there is a huge Zhou victory of course to be made in the terrain negotiation.

Google Is Promoting Climate Change Denialism On Its Apps And Mobile Homepage

"Is promoting climate change denial ism on its APPS and mobile home pages so I'm getting this from right mack in Zara Zhou Asia at Buzzfeed News so pretty much what's been going on is multiple climate change activists this people who are actively speaking climate change running blogs reporting on it doing podcast have been noticing that in their Google discover tab which is pretty much algorithm with Mickey generates slash user input generated where you tell it what you look for in news and things are happening about and just a curated feature of the News Tab and they are saying that they're constantly finding headlines and articles and websites. They're being selected for them. That are straight up climate change denial and are anti science or anti anti like logic in the sense of having to our planet and what was found was is that this is something that of course is not having to just a few people. It's happening to like anyone who's probably using Google and of course by extension everything we've ever talked about with. Youtube is like involved at this as well so they have examples of articles articles like bipartisan panel of scientists confirm. Humans are not responsible for the past twenty thousand new climate change like the entire headline directly is denying climate change is not like some obscured thing that you can read it and then I kind of hinting at that or just coming. That's like here like it's not what you think it is. you kidding me. No it's actually I'd like that. Literal in the people the weird thing was that allow people are no snus were course people who had speak out about it are people who really do believe and know that climate climate change is real and our activists poured speaking about it so they are immediately trying to disqualify any of these other ideas from Papa getting just like we a- leftist communist podcasts are not going to let pro capitalist pro fascist ideologies just prayed completely freely. You have to speak out against it so the people that have been that are usually on this cover type to agree all the Newsday possibly concered now certainly that come up to almost the top of the page in these organizations as buzzfeed looked into it that have like no the like. No backings are like very small blogs. Maybe like a few thousand. Maybe ten thousand like active readers within like a month or something like down these websites any politician. This happened to the the other week where not the other week. This happened a while back I believe it was the New York Times and there was an article about like you know parents like being very worried for their children who are like gender non conforming and would like to get like gender affirming medical processes underway like teens and the New York Times cited an organization that was against allowing teenagers and children to undergo gender affirming firming procedures and or where gender affirming close or start medications young and people looked into it and found out that this organization John was like as far as anyone knew one person and didn't actually really exist but they were somehow able to get into the New York Times by creating the name for themselves and like a website and then of course because you are like some sort of organization and you're like I'm reaching out on behalf of this to let you know that like this of course is not okay like the New York Times is going to quote you on that because all interested in fairness and it's like of the other side of the oil like their organizations against its but this organization organization is one person there is no actual infringe airy like lobby group. Yes in the case of this literally. There's a climate change now. Blackhawk what's up without that you can tell us by like one person does not matter but there's another one called the global warming policy foundation which is a UK based lobbying group that contest the scientific consensus on global warming so that is the party that will fight against it and be used by. Let's say oil companies or refineries or any large corporation that obviously will profit off the avoidance of switching degree technologies and resources so knowing that that is being led through because of a recent change the algorithm so that's the thing that's really interesting. Is that like why now so when you see that just months people been seeing this come up these are people who have been using google discover page and had been researching and been and involved in topics for years decades so when just a few months recently we start seeing this propaganda more it means something has had to have changed in. Google's like infrastructure or at least there was a loophole or hole in the system that allows these people to sneak through but at least from what buzzfeed is saying in here. Would they contacted the people that ran some of these websites. Not all of them will get through but of course a lot of them are like Oh that's great that's cool but like they actually had no idea how how in did not pay for that tap and they did not say that the advertised extra or you know somehow got themselves integrated into the Google News Roundup.

Canada's ambassador to China retracts controversial remarks on Huawei case

"Now to get the latest on the case of men win ju the who way ex executive who's currently being held in Vancouver. Awaiting the result of an extradition request by the US, while miss men sits in ponders her future cases caused a row between Canada's ambassador to China and the prime minister Justin Trudeau Tomas. What's happened? Well to sort of a long story short Emma Mangone Zhou was arrested in Vancouver on the first of December. And she's sort of put Canada if you like kind of at the center of the ongoing standoff between the United States and Canada, the US wants extradited to stand trial in the US for allegedly breaching it sanctions with Iran. Now, the reason this is a difficult position for Canada is that it has just come out to the very rancorous process of renegotiating NAFTA treaty which really saw US Canada relations, which is very historically sort of important one economically undiplomatically sink to its lowest levels for a time. That many can really remember also since Justin Trudeau came into office in two thousand fifteen he's really gone very hard on trying to forge closer relations with China specifically in sort of free trade context this case ridi house puts it in. Very difficult position bit with both parties. Now, what we saw this week for latest chapter of this was that Beijing came out and called directly on the US to withdraw its extradition request for Mang wrong shoe now, I think many commentators here in Canada felt that that was sort of taking the heat off Canada. Also, a slightly in that now is sort of a direct sort of game that it sort of, you know, could sort of step back a little bit in this very delicate diplomatic don's that it was affecting the middleman then step in China's sorry, Canada's ambassador to China, Jon McCullum, he on Wednesday gave this rather extraordinary press conference to exclusively to the Chinese speaking press in Beijing, where he effectively seemed to side with China's sort of calls that he said that he thought that monks. You had a very strong case in fate in fighting this extradition request this caused a huge flurry. Of commentary and kind of diplomatic Pammy, greedy in Canada. Because it wasn't clear whether he was acting on a request from Ottawa or whether he was affectively going rogue now the leader of opposition here in Canada. He came out very forcefully and said, well, if I was prime minister, I would suck John McCollum on the spot. Prime minister Justin Trudeau sort of pooh-poohed that kind of suggestion tried to quell it. However, John McCollum the ambassador to China did eventually apologize for his remarks saying there were slightly miscalculated. But all this comes in the context of a very Phibro environment. And we do of course, have a Canadian citizen. Robert John Schellenberg who is facing the death penalty in China, which also is kind of brought out in the context of this while way extradition request. So really it couldn't be a more fraught diplomatic situation here, the only got more. So this week thanks to candidate is on Basseterre in Beijing. Is this an astonishing esscalation, isn't it now milk con-? But we we've heard all that to inferring internally between the Canadian ambassador and the Canadian Prime Minister. But was Thomas just mentioned this becomes an issue of whether it's all right to travel freely. The Canadians of offered have warned their residents that if they go to China, they could be subject, what was described as arbitrary detainment. It really does suddenly start to change the way that people can move around the world, doesn't it? Yes. Canada sits very highly up on the suit of possible freedom index, and I think that's embedded. It's expected part of the culture of being Canadian that you move around the world Freeland same in Europe. I think. Yeah. Canadian nationals would be very upset to fund themselves detained or questioned that policy withheld to be spied on. So of course, this is. Yeah, it's it's it's an it's a very pressing matter. It's it's a it's a real worry as well. If you something like at a journalist, I mean, the the people have been arrested and held in China at the moment, the Canadians one of them is is a diplomat the page. I know of at least one person who's been warned the next time. They go in a professional capacity to Hong Kong the last sprinkling of western western culture in in in China. They've been told in the next couple of weeks. They will be having the phone tap.

If you do so into the devils elbow is limestone so far, seven plays Jaime king. Just honing off Oscar Pinson. Now he's no scope into that. Just pushed Jamie king. ROY tout wide. So unlucky, Jamie king. He's been overthrown nabbed by Oscar Pinson. These starts off devils elbow and wonder if that's going to be how eight stays. We shall wait and say, but no question about your leader Gareth Roberts head of, well, how us Charlie? "Dialogue but what will the reaction be behind closed doors i've been speaking to zhou tong he's an associate at the conic is nuclear power policy program and is based in beijing i don't think chinese pleased because china i think has a strong interest in seeing a successful summit because for china a very important long term strategic objective is to help north korea gradually transform from an isolated pariah state into a country that is connected with outside world a precondition is for north korea united states to improve their political relationship i but even if china isn't pleased isn't it possible that china could still be a kingmaker here china was a lehto a nervous a couple of months ago when the news of the north korean us sam was firstly announced china was concerned that it might be left out of this process person after that north korean leader took steps to come to china twice and after those two successful sammy meeting between xi jinping kim jong i think that china is concerned was already addressed i don't think china feels pleased even in the short term because of the cancellation of the summit in fact the cancellation push china in a more difficult position because now north korea would request to china to enhance economic cooperation with north korea and now those a hand china would be under greater pressure from the united states to continue the maximum pressure campaign to impose stronger sanctions on north korea is not a very comfortable place for china to be isn't it possible though on the issue of sanctions though that beijing is likely to go slightly softer on pyongyang than perhaps the americans might be demanding the chinese might feel that they don't need to comply i think generally speaking the chinese government would continue implementing the sanctions china is under legal obligation required by the un security council resolutions to continue implementing the sanctuaries but of course when the situation over corinthians gets better the individual players the private business people they after syncing improve the relationship might start their operations to do business across the border and would be hard for the chinese government to execute perfect control.

"For danish zhou honestly this is this is listening here tell if makeith you'll felt important beds on talking about going to these data on it freedom is hair bones straight no chaser limited government take care of yourself dad everybody else's life the governments that of your life enjoy the fruits of your labor unions were lucky that a deal with it for you to be use of the dis seriously but not much else dow uber disappear jason trophy the daily show no one likes the mandate flow of employer mandate that will be gone there's an individual mandate that where he gone but if at all you do then that gives people incentive to remain on ensured until they get sick so what what shimer miss the the vote on is when he said these people will luther insurance no no they will choose not to ensure until they give but that's not a good result for the system so if you're watching c span last night because you don't have a life like we don't have lives then you would see you would have seen that the skinny repeal which wasn't the original repealed but the skinny rib repeal ended up failing last night forty nine to fifty one and ultimately it was john mccain that swung it and there were audible gasps from the chamber when he placed his vote welcome to the show happy friday threat friday to you i'm dinner lash eddie lash on twitter officials in lash on on facebook so in our ecs to there's two ways to look at the failing of the skinny repeal it sucked it didn't this skinny that you had the regular house you had the repeal which failed this was a moderate version i suppose it sounds like a bethany frankel isn't who surname at one housewife lady she does the skinny margarita next it sounded like a piece of legislation that she wrote the skinny though and this was a watereddown version of what the repeal was except the skinny repeal wasn't a repeal it still cat pretty much all of this stuff that counts in obamacare you didn't have the independent mandate you didn't have the employer mandate it said it said cetera but it's still was it i mean it was all for all intents.
