While turning to markets now, Nathan global stocks could be on their way to the first weekly gain in a month it follows Atlanta fed president Raphael bostic saying the fed could pause rate hikes this summer. Amy Shi Patrick, pendle grope head of income strategy, says she's not overly concerned with the market's reaction to fed speak. I was still argue that the broader trend of inflation will still come down this year. If you look at core inflation in services, excluding shelter, it actually came down in January. All the fed speakers, they have no choice but to earn the side of still being hawkish, but I don't think you should over interpret messages as being overly hawkish. Who Were the Stoics?
"Mister Kirk, today you made a comment about the stoics can you tell us about the stoics in your opinion of them God bless. So yes, there are four major stoics. The kind of inventor of stoicism, if you will, is a man by the name of a he was a slave and obviously living in slavery and then being freed. He was able to live through all different parts of life. By being in slavery and by being treated terribly, he came really came up with a philosophy for life and operating system, regardless of your circumstance regardless what's happening around you need to identify what you can control what you are able to do in that moment and then release everything that is outside of your control. So there's elements there of Christianity do not worry about today. Do not worry about tomorrow, don't worry about the future, but focus on the present. There's elements of some eastern philosophy there. There are three other stoic thinkers and writers that are quite interesting. Zeno, which we'll talk very little about, Seneca, as well who I believe was a counselor to a Roman Emperor, Blake would know, but the most famous, he was a counselor to Nero. Okay. That's notable. Yeah, he did a great job. They're actually you never know. Bad emperors sometimes can have really good counselors. That's a good rule for life. They're not always listened to and sometimes their heads are chopped off. That's right, yes, that's correct. The Seneca was forced to commit suicide because he was such a wise and lord of man, but the most famous stoic of all. And there were other kind of quasi stoic thinkers, Cicero being the one year Roman council, who wrote extensively about separation of powers and has some of the greatest writings that later inspired the American founding, but Marcus Aurelius. And I have a bust of Marcus Aurelius in my office because I really love studying about Marcus really. So Marcus Aurelius was the last of the good emperors of Rome. He ruled, I think, between Blake to look it up. It's like 200 something. Far after Christ, it was right at the end of the pax romana and Marcus Aurelius, he really was one 61 80. Thank you. And so he ruled over more land, more geography than any other ruler or leader alive at the time. And so it's a very interesting window of if you have absolute control of the earthly realm, which is what basically a Roman Emperor did. You could, any woman you want, you go to any person you want, you could cut somebody's head off, you full complete dictatorial control because Roman Rome ceased to be an empire and transition to a republic. What would you believe? What would you do? And what was so fascinating about Marcus Aurelius, we only know this because of his private journals that later got repurposed and published as a book that we call meditations, is that Aurelius adopted stoic philosophy to help him become a better ruler.

And there has to be some discipline and there has to be some sacrifice. Senator Manchin spoke with a Bloomberg David Weston from the World Economic Forum in Davos, but his plan is unlikely to fly in a deeply divided Congress according to Bloomberg politics contributor Jeannie Sheehan Zeno. As much as I give him credit for trying to push forward the idea of a bipartisan anything, that the reality is tying together the lifting or suspension of the debt ceiling with spending is a nonstarter. Jeannie shehan Zeno spoke with our Washington correspondent Joe Matthew on Bloomberg sound on, catch the show weekdays at 5 p.m. eastern on Bloomberg radio. Turning to markets now Karen futures are little changed this Friday morning. We're closing out a week that saw the S&P 500 fall for three straight Sessions thanks to weak economic data. Hank Smith is chief investment officer at haverford trust. I think there is a chance that the S&P 500 gets a lower low than the October 22 low. But our view is it's likely that we're going to have a recession that's equally as likely that's going to be mild and brief. Well, when Bryce spot in stalks this morning, Nathan is Netflix, the company reported earnings late yesterday that outperformed estimates. That beat forecast net content brought in more viewers, the series Wednesday, and Addams family spin off was the company's third most popular series ever with a documentary Harry and Meghan was also a hit. Netflix had its own drama in the boardroom, cofounder Reed Hastings is stepping down. The CEO post will now be filled by his two longtime associates Ted sarandos and Greg Peters. Shares right now up over 5% pre market last year the company saw more than a third of its value wiped out after a poor showing in the first quarter, live in New York, I'm John Tucker, Bloomberg date break. Okay, John, thanks on the economic front, we're hearing more fed officials call for high interest rates despite signs and inflation is cooling. Here's Federal Reserve bank of New York president John Williams. Although we're seeing some signs, the inflation's moderating, it remains far too high. And it is my number one concern going into 2023. Well, that sentiment from John Williams is echoed by the vice chair of the fed, Lyle brainard. Inflation has declined in recent months, but inflation was very high. And it's going to take time and resolve to get it back 60%. Vice chair law brainer did not explicitly state a preference for the size of the fed's next rate. Hike traders are currently pricing in a quarter percentage point increase. That's the lowest jet in the Central Bank's current hiking cycle. Nathan, as we wrap up the final day of the World Economic Forum, a one message is becoming clear at Davos. Finance executives say they now see reasons to be upbeat. We caught up with Bank of America CEO Brian moynihan. In the U.S., our research team, which is the best in the business as a mild recession predicted sort of mid this year into next year. They pushed that out. And so why they keep pushing out, it's a strength of the U.S. consumer. They have the fed getting over 5%, 5 and a quarter, just this week. They move that to three 25 basis point rate rise as opposed to 50. And Bank of America, CEO Brian moynihan, spoke with Bloomberg's David Westin and Davos, he's joined by Morgan Stanley's James Gorman and Citigroup's Jane Fraser as executives showing signs of cautious optimism. And speaking of Wall Street executives, Karen, JPMorgan Chase is out with fresh details on Jamie Dimon's pay, the bank is keeping the CEO's total compensation. Unchanged. Diamond will get 34 and a half $1 million for his work in 2022. It's a year where the firm's profit fell by almost a quarter, and JPMorgan stock notched its worst annual performance in more than a decade. I may continue to watch shares of alphabet in the early trade there up about one and a half percent this morning S&P futures also higher up a tenth of a percent or 5 points. "You usually want a medium or a high SHBG, a good rule of thumb and men is that you want estrogen to be as high as they can tolerate without many symptoms. But you want a total estradiol about two to three times a free testosterone. And you also want SHBG on the high end as well, as long as you can maintain adequate free androgens. Right. So when you say estrogen and men, people lose their minds. It is certainly good unless it is high relative to testosterone. So often you want to keep the estrogen nice and high, but just increase the testosterone congruently. And are there typical foods that can help balance that or buttress things in the right direction for that individual? Ensuring that you're getting optimal essential fatty acids and essential amino acids. For example, omega threes or your essential amino acids, that's first and foremost for many people, that might be more than the RDA. Of that nutrient, and then depending on what other pathology that individual might have, that would come next, but many people are the most common problem is too many calories, especially processed calories. I think that the effects of phytoestrogens are quite weak and most individuals, including males, and I think the effects of xenoestrogen. So phytoestrogens are things that can potentially be estrogenic, for example, soy. Most individuals do not consume enough to have a clinically significant effect, perhaps it's statistically significant if you design a study to see that. Xenoestrogens likely do have a touch of an effect an example of that would be bisphenol a and that would bind to an estrogen related receptor, the gamma receptor. So that could have hormonal effects, but again, likely these are not significant compared to everything else that is happening. But it's certainly something to keep in mind. And what foods are xeno, what did you say? You said Zeno, xenoestrogens are estrogens in the environment like BPA, which is known as bisphenol a, so you might see your water bottle. It's BPA free, which is great. And then a phytoestrogens are somewhat estrogenic from plants. But usually they are very weak, right? Okay. And if anything, they're beneficial. Right. Okay. Let's talk about exercise. Talk to me generally about how you think of think about exercise as this second pillar. Exercise, and again another analogy, it is how you keep your body using. So it would be like, you have a new brand new car, and then you put it in a garage. And you put it up on a lift. It's like being in a chair. And you never use it, you never drive it. That car is not going to function well. Even if you leave it there for a year, you're going to have to change the oil and whatnot because it hasn't been moving, but the humans are the same way. You can't just put a human and sit them down in a artificial indoor environment. They're designed to move. You have anaerobic and aerobic exercise and both are particularly important. Whether it's the easier exercise, I know Peter atia talks a lot about zone two cardio, which is particularly important. But vigorous exercise is also important, of course, as is resistance training. So zone two, how much when, how does that differ with age would be my first question? And how does that mix in? Like if you're looking at somebody who's pretty busy and you're saying, you got to do zone two, you got to do resistance training. You got to do some interval high output stuff, like what is the ratio of those activities to your mind? The law of diminishing returns applies in this case as it does in almost everything in medicine. So it's hard to say, this is the amount of zone two that it's beneficial for you. And after that, it completely drops off. A good rule of thumb is three times a week, 30 minutes for zone two, and at least one time a week of very vigorous cardio. And at least twice a week for resistance training. So that would be pretty reasonable for a busy person to do. Right. How about 25 hours of zone two a week? I've been there. That would be a lot. The aerobic base is huge. Well, the great thing about zone two is it's a day in day out thing. The way I think about it is that's the kind of thing where you can kind of wait. If you're doing it properly, you can kind of wake up every day and do it. You're not going to be overly fatigued. But your high output stuff, you got to pace it out because you do have to allow your body to recover. So it's about being mindful of spacing the workout so that you're giving your body time to heal and get stronger. Absolutely. True overtraining is relatively rare, although perhaps an individual like yourself. Would not always be on in your world, you're probably always teetering on the edge. But for the average American, most are not over trained. They're just getting used to that adaptation. And for an individual like that, let's just say the average American, starting an emphasizing vigorous exercise can be detrimental because they feel so tired or sore, at least the first month to where they're not wanting to incorporate things like zone two. And walk me through what's going on hormonally when you exercise and I'm sure it's different depending upon the type of exercise. But bring the hormones into the discussion. So hormones during exercise have been very well studied. There's a ton of clinical literature published on it. And there are effects on not only testosterone and estrogen, but also growth hormone and IGF-1. A lot of this is released in and amongst muscle cells. So not necessarily endocrine, which is between body systems, but autocrine or paracrine. And usually these effects are very short, so if you do it just a couple times, it's not going to have a sustained effect. But over a long period of time, it is likely clinically significant. So ways to optimize a lot of people ask about how to optimize your growth hormone. You have peripheral and central growth hormone. You don't necessarily want to optimize both. And you also have testosterone that can be increased, one of the studies that many people have talked about is if you do a set of resistance training with legs, I believe squats is usually the example. And you do a medium rep range for a medium number of sets, three to four sets, 6 to ten reps, then it can help optimize your androgen profile specifically testosterone. If you do this just one time in the testosterone is not going to be around systemically for a long

In economies where information can be tradable good itself. This makes the amount of time it takes to start participating in an interstellar cross civilizational economy shrink by orders of magnitude. "This. I want everybody to read the book, but this is the question everybody still wants to know about. The origin theory. It seems pretty obvious that if you've got one of only two level four biodefense labs working for the Chinese military in the huge country of China in the city of Wuhan, where the COVID virus breaks out, that I don't know. There may be a very high likelihood of the virus being connected to the research being done at that lab. Tell us from the inside. Why they were such a resistance from people like Fauci, despite him receiving email saying, yeah, yeah, it's probably from the lab. Tell us what the debate was like on the origins of the China virus inside the task force inside The White House. Yeah, obviously Sebastian back in early of 2020. We didn't know what we know now. If we knew then what we know now, I think we'd take a different approach, but I can tell you in February of 2020, doctor Redfield sent a team from the CDC over to China to Wuhan to investigate this and he was with, I think, the World Health Organization members as well. And they wouldn't let them in the lab. Doctor Redfield was very suspicious from that point forward. And I talked to him a couple of weeks ago, and he told me something very interesting in terms of some statistics. So I think the viewers and listeners will be interested in. And that is, there were two prior similar coronaviruses. If you remember in the last 20 years SARS and nurse, SARS was 2003, mers was 2012. And both of them are what's called Zeno zoonotic events, meaning the virus came from an animal to humans. But here's what very important that they can jump species. That's right. But he said the following, he said, in the almost 20 years since SARS in ten years since mers, there have been fewer than 10,000 humans infected with those viruses. He said, on January 3rd, this is in retrospect, I was talking to him a couple of weeks ago. On January 3rd, 2020, when he called secretary azar and me, and told us we have a problem in China. He said in retrospect, we probably had more than 10,000 cases in the United States. And he said, there is no way a virus like this. Now he's one of the world's leading virologists. "At 8 p.m. they voted. Everyone who wanted to join the MRC moved to the left, everyone who wanted to maintain the status quo moved to the right. Nearly every soldier moved left. The MRC and by extension the Bolshevik party now controlled the Peter and Paul fortress, along with its huge cache of weapons and ammunition, and its direct line of sight on the winter palace. Where Alexander kerensky lived, worked and apparently prayed for the Bolsheviks to take their best shot. That night, John Reid headed to the small ne institute, headquarters of the Petrograd Soviet. He reported in the hall I ran into some of the minor Bolshevik leaders. One showed me a revolver. The game is on, he said, and his face was pale. Whether we move or not, the other side knows it must finish us or be finished. Read then witness the speech by Trotsky. We are asked if we intend to come out Trotsky said. I can give a clear answer to that question. The Petrograd Soviet feels that at last, the moment has arrived when the power must fall into the hands of the Soviets. The transfer of government will be accomplished by the all Russian Congress. Whether an armed demonstration is necessary, will depend on those who wish to interfere with the all Russian Congress. We feel that our government entrusted to the personnel of the provisional cabinet is a pitiless and helpless government, which only awaits the sweep of the broom of history to give way to a really popular government. But we are trying to avoid a conflict, even now today. We hope that the all Russian Congress will take into its hands that power and authority, which rests upon the organized freedom of the people. If, however, the government wants to utilize the short period it is expected to live 24 48 or 72 hours to attack us, and we shall answer with counter attacks. Blow for blow, steel, for iron. So this is pretty heavy stuff. But then, later that same night with everything so clearly moving in a decisive direction. There was an unexpected flinch from the Bolsheviks in the MRC. The senior officer of the Petrograd military district invited them to engage in further talks over who had veto over what orders. Maybe an arrangement could be worked out. The Bolshevik leadership made a calculated decision to withdraw. Their unilateral claim to military authority. Probably, because they were not quite ready to make their move and they didn't want to spark something they couldn't control. So they backed down. Or at least they seemed to back down. Which was quite enough to convince Alexander kerensky that he had the Bolsheviks right where he wanted them. This was a signal the Bolsheviks did not actually believe they were strong enough to back up their big talk. As soon as he heard the news, kerensky issued orders to strike, giving the Bolsheviks exactly the attack they needed to claim that they were launching a counter attack. The revolution was in danger. Petrograd must be say it. Next week we will all wake up on the morning of October 24th, 1917. And shake, the world..

"It read the headquarters of the Petrograd military district refused to recognize the MRC. In doing so, the headquarters break with the revolutionary garrison of the Petrograd Soviet of workers and soldiers deputies. The headquarters becomes a direct weapon of counter revolutionary force. Then they staked a very bold claim to military power. The protection of revolutionary order from counter revolutionary attacks, rests with the revolutionary soldiers directed by the MRC. No directives to the garrison, not signed by the MRC should be considered valid. They finish this by saying the revolution is in danger. Long live the revolutionary garrison. With this statement, they proclaimed their ultimate authority over all military decisions in Petrograd, and further, said that any order that contradicted the MRC was ipso facto, an act of counter revolution. This declaration was issued early on October 22nd, and there was a plausible belief that there may be a major confrontation that very afternoon. October 22nd had been declared a day for celebrating the Petrograd Soviet, and there were lots of banquets and rallies and speeches planned. But it was also the anniversary of Napoleon's withdrawal from Moscow, which was itself an annual nationalistic celebration. Conservative elements in the army indicated they planned to observe this celebration with parades of their own. But as the day progressed, the energy in Petrograd was predominantly left wing, not right wing. Trotsky gave an electrifying speech at an opera house, reminding everyone of how great things would be once the Soviet took power for itself. Soviet power was destined not only to put an end to the sufferings in the trenches he thundered, it would provide land and stop internal disorder. The Soviet government will give everything the country has to the poor and the soldiers at the front. You, bourgeois, own two coats, give one to the soldier freezing in the trenches. You have warm boots, stay at home, your boots are needed by a worker. People applauded rapturously. Trotsky called we will defend the cause of the workers in the peasants to the last drop of blood, who will join us. Everyone cheered and raised their hands. There was no great confrontation on October 22nd. Then the following day, the MRC finished appointing their commissars, nearly all of whom doubled as members of the Bolshevik military organization. The mood of the city now shifted decisively in the direction of hoping the second Congress of Soviets declared itself the seat of a new national government. Backed by the arms of the MRC. As most of the members of the Bolshevik party had hoped, they were succeeding at organizing their coup under the popular legitimizing banner of Soviet authority. On the afternoon of October 23rd, a group of MRC commissars went to the Peter and Paul fortress to convince them to join the MRC chain of command. The commander of the fortress, relented to demands to hold a democratic assembly of his soldiers. Once gathered, the men were harangued by mensheviks and SRs, imploring them to stay in the regular chain of command and not join insurrectionary hotheads. Whose hot headedness would lead them all to their doom. Meanwhile the MRC commissars most of them Bolsheviks said join us or Petrograd will fall either to the Germans or to the counter revolution. And to set the scene, I'm just going to hand the reins over to John Reid and let him describe what he saw in this final week. Petrograd presented a curious spectacle in those days. He wrote in the factories, the committee rooms were filled with stacks of rifles. Couriers came and went, and the red guard drilled. In all the barracks, meetings every day, and all night long interminable hot arguments. On the streets, the crowds thickened towards gloomy evening, pouring in slow, voluble tides up and down the nevsky, fighting for the newspapers. Hold ups increased to such an extent that it was dangerous to walk down side streets. One afternoon I saw a crowd of several hundred people beat and trampled to death a soldier caught stealing. Mysterious individual circulated around the shivering women who waited in queue long cold hours for bread and milk, whispering the Jews had cornered the food supply, and that while the people starved, Soviet members lived luxuriously. At small, there were strict guards at the doors and the outer gates demanding everyone's pass. The committee rooms buzzed and hummed all day and all night. Hundreds of soldiers and workmen slept on the floor, wherever they could find room. Upstairs in the great hall, a thousand people crowded to the upper area sessions of the Petrograd Soviet. And in The Rain, the bitter chill, the great throbbing city under gray skies, rushing faster and faster. Towards what? On October 21st, the military revolutionary committee held a conference of representatives from the garrisons of Petrograd in order to coordinate what was ostensibly a municipal defense force, but which everyone well knew was a Bolshevik led military apparatus. The delegates in the room, many of them members of the Bolshevik military organization passed a resolution calling on the forthcoming Congress of Soviets to take power. Then they set about ensuring that when the Congress of Soviets met that the MRC would wield ultimate military authority in the capital. They sent a delegation to the ranking officer of the Petrograd military district, delivering a message that henceforth, soldiers in the garrison would only follow orders countersigned by the MRC. The officer scoffed, and said, I don't recognize your delegation, your committee, or your orders. You have no authority here whatsoever. This delegation then returned to MRC headquarters and announced that the regular chain of command military officers had rejected their authority. So they drafted a resolution and promulgated it on the morning of October 22nd..

Glennon also debunked the notion that they should wait until the counter revolution struck before making their own move. They would neither rise with the Bolsheviks nor help the government put them down. They would wait on the sidelines. But they did warn their members to be on the lookout for a full on right wing coup, which was also expected to practically any moment. They sent out a circular to members warning them to be fully prepared for the merciless suppression, possible salts by the black hundreds, pogromists and counter revolutionaries. On October 19th, the leaders of the garrison of the all important Peter and Paul fortress voted against joining any Bolshevik insurrection. With reports like this in hand, Alexander kerensky's optimism was fully cemented. The intelligence coming into him indicated only a small number of soldiers were actually with the Bolsheviks. And he wasn't wrong about that. There was something like a 160,000 soldiers garrisoned in Petrograd with another 85,000 in the general area. Of those only a small fraction were actively participating in the coup. At most the number was in the tens of thousands, not the hundreds of thousands. The vast majority of the soldiers clearly wanted no part of it. But here kerensky made a fatal miscalculation. His brief time in the winter palace appears to have infected him with the same fatal case of blinkered myopia that took down Nicholas and Alexandra. Kerensky was convinced he was only threatened by a small group of malcontents, and that the vast majority of Russians were still with him. Kerensky took the small number of Bolshevik die hard to mean that those soldiers who declined to participate would defend his government. And boy did he misread that. They didn't plan to defend his government. They planned to sit on the sidelines and watch. They weren't going to fight for Lenin. But they also, sure as hell were not going to fight for kerensky either..

"Back in July, Lenin and the central committee said an uprising was premature, while the defiantly optimistic military organization marched out into the streets anyway. Now, here in October, it's the military organization leaders trying to dissuade Lenin and the central committee from doing something rash. Their attitude was we're not ready, and we're not sure that the people will turn out. Yes, they'll come out if the second Congress of Soviets calls them. But for the Bolsheviks alone, they won't. The descent from party leaders who were just below the central committee on the Bolshevik org chart. Just goes to further show that, as we've seen many times, despite typical portrayals of the Bolshevik party as some kind of hyper disciplined dictatorial extension of Lenin's will, that's never how they worked in practice. Sure, Lennon exerted a great deal of influence on the party. He exerted more individual influence than any other individual leader of any other party. But that is hardly the same as everybody doing what Lennon said all the time. All through the revolution, the Bolsheviks were constantly at on to with each other over strategy, tactics, theory, timing, means, and ends. Different sections and committees disagreed with each other. The Moscow committee wasn't on the same page as the Petrograd committee. Rank and file agents would just go off and do their own thing. Often ignoring the central committee entirely. Orders going from the top down were not followed. Demands coming from the bottom up, forced the leaders to alter their plans. Now, maybe they were a more cohesive herd of cats than any other party. But they were still mostly a herd of cats. As is evidenced by Lenin being more or less on the verge of a stroke, every waking moment of his life. But though there was an awful lot of pushback, Lenin and the central committee refused to change course. On October 16th, the Bolshevik central committee held another meeting to grapple with the fact that lots of party members were extremely skeptical. At this meeting, Lennon, stood on one side, while genovia and Camino stood on the other. These were the three longest tenured Bolsheviks in the room, and they couldn't agree on what to do. "While he was quoted as saying Petrograd is in danger. I say to myself, let God take care of Petrograd. They fear that if Petrograd is lost, the central revolutionary organization will be destroyed to that I answer that I rejoice when all these organizations are destroyed, for they will bring nothing but disaster upon Russia. With, quotes like this floating around, it wasn't hard to paint a picture that the liberals and capitalists and their agents in the provisional government were downright eager to toss the people of Petrograd to the Germans. The only thing that could save them was a self organized military apparatus by the people and for the people. Like, say, the recently formed military revolutionary committee. The other fear of the Bolsheviks played on was that if the Germans didn't sack Petrograd, then it would probably be some counter revolutionary alliance of military officers, gangs of black hundreds Cossacks and street thugs, taking another shot at a cornelia style military coup. Rumors of such a coup swirled in the capital in the fall of 1917, and the Bolsheviks did everything they could to amplify and exaggerate the threat. Trotsky said, in essence, our strategy was offensive. We prepared to assault the government, but our agitation rested on the claim that the enemy was getting ready to disperse the Congress of Soviets, and it was necessary, mercilessly to repulse them. Stalin later said the revolution, that is the Bolshevik party. Disguised its offensive actions behind a smokescreen of defenses. In order to make it easier to attract into its orbit, uncertain, hesitating elements. Though the party had decided to go on offense, they knew it would only really work if it was sold as defense. And that's exactly how they said about selling themselves. Not as a self interested click, making a power graph, but as the defenders of Petrograd and the revolution. That the Bolsheviks were now plotting an insurrection was an open secret. People absolutely knew what was going on. On October 12th, one daily paper said, there is definite evidence that the Bolsheviks are energetically preparing for a coming out on October 20. That is, to coincide with the convening of the second all Russian Congress of Soviets, which the Bolsheviks themselves had called for. A right wing paper prophesized the vile and bloody events of July 3 to 5 were only a rehearsal. A menshevik paper tried to derail the proposed coup by publishing a story allegedly revealing the details of the secret Bolshevik plan, including maps of their likely targets. Maxim Gorky, a former friend ally and sympathizer of Lenin, who had sent drifted into a sort of intellectualized middle ground between the Bolsheviks and the mensheviks, urged the Bolshevik leaders to deny rumors of an insurrection, though he did agree that they were being pushed into this by the looming threat of counter revolution. The military section of the SRs on the other hand thought the forces of counter revolution would only be triggered if such an insurrection was launched. They issued a statement telling their members to stay home and not listen to dangerous hotheads..

"But to achieve this, a Bolshevik coup had to be for something. And indeed, it was. In the fall of 1917, the party had a positive platform aimed at delivering what the people desired, as well as a negative program, aimed at preventing what the people feared. The Bolsheviks hammered both sides to this program in the lead up to the coup. The positive side was encapsulated in a party editorial from October 4th, 1917 that ended with a clear direct and uncompromising 5 point platform. One all power to the Soviets, both in the capital and in the provinces. Two. Immediate truce on all fronts, and honest peace between peoples. Landlord estates to the peasants, without compensation. Four. Worker control of industrial production. 5, a faithfully and honestly elected constituent assembly. So as the Bolsheviks drove towards power, this is what they were saying they were going to do with their power. And they were consciously ticking off each of the major constituencies they needed to win over. For the soldiers, peace, now, immediately. For the peasants, land, now immediately. For the workers control of the factories, now immediately. They promise no more delays, hesitations or convoluted justifications. They promise to do away with the hypocritical and contradictory nonsense that have been floated by the liberals and the mensheviks and the SR since February. Silver Lennon, it didn't matter that in October 1917, the Bolsheviks didn't technically have any supporters among the peasantry, who formed the mass majority of Russia, who cares. When the Bolsheviks take power, we will transfer land from the largest states to the peasants, and voila all the peasants will love us. But if those were the desires to be fulfilled. What about the fears to be prevented? This was mostly aimed at the workers and soldiers at Petrograd, who, the Bolsheviks needed to make their move. As we discussed last time, kerensky gave the Bolsheviks a huge gift by floating the idea of evacuating Petrograd and letting the German sacket. And remember, the Germans are just a couple hundred miles away at this point. The population of Petrograd understandably freaked out, and the Bolsheviks enthusiastically hammered the idea that the capitalists in the provisional government were basically in league with the Kaiser. The Bolsheviks were also helped mightily by intemperate public remarks that confirm the most exaggerated accusations. But this is not about my book. This time I will be the interviewer. Doctor hillis wrote a really great book called utopias discontents. Russian emigres and the quest for freedom, 1830s to 1930s. It will be a deep dive on the lives of everyone living in those Russian colonies scattered across Europe that served as embryos for the Russian Revolution. The book is great and it'll be a great night. Now last time we ended with the Bolsheviks momentous decision on the night of October 10th, 1917, to stage an armed coup d'etat. What I want to talk about today is what happened in the two weeks after this decision was made, but before they actually went through with it. Because it would be very easy to just glide from one to the other, and skip over the fact that one of the most famous armed coups in history was by no means a foregone conclusion. These two weeks were a high wire act of tension, setbacks and conflict, not just among the Bolsheviks and their various rivals, but among the Bolsheviks themselves. "The first lesson. I learned is that. Don't use optimism as your guide meaning that you know. We were super optimistic. That we're going to still the conference when we went into lockdown. You know we didn't realize how long lockdown was going to be but It's always good to have a disaster plan. It's funny because i know this in my software company we always have these. What if conversations and Center standard operating procedures. But we need to have the same in the conference we need to think. Hey what if is in happened way before it would give me more time to have options or to Make some changes provide some options to the attendees but basically when i found out we're three weeks out from the conference so i had limited choices to what i can do. Second i learned was. I knew in that moment. The best thing i can do is i need to communicate. I need to communicate with my people. The attendees And i just needed to make sure that they're included in any decision and that i let them know what's going on so they don't feel like they're in the dark. I was very conscious. These people trusted me. They give me their money. I want to make sure that they know that. I got their back and that you know there are some options. I'm looking at when we actually had a discussion on that call before the cancellation was confirmed. Because the accession of lockdown of what are some options. And what. I was pleasantly surprised by how open people were there were like. Hey we totally get it. I understand they're all entrepreneurs zeno how these things happen and They presented some ideas from creative ideas. I didn't think of as alternatives creative ideas in terms of different dates. There is that you do regular a tweet streams all about building skills and got a really cool project so tell us about that. I'm really keen to hear more else. Sure yeah you're you're not gonna have any shortage of excitement for me so i stream on twitch every morning ten. Am to noon for the most part. I mean there's flexibility in that but for the most part it's everyday tend to noon eastern time on twitch on my channel i've got a sign right and the thing that i've been building over the last month and a half or so Started as a chat bot. I As i was on twitch i wanted to way to engage audience and so what i did is i built a very small casino and so the way it works every time you posted a message in chat you were given one more coined in the casino. And then you could. You could use commands that i built like exclamation point poker exclamation point slots to actually play video poker game or a slot machine or roulette craps or blackjack and i haven't finished all the games but we're getting there and i realized very quickly that what i was building for the chat bot when not be something that i could use easily to translate forums and i knew that i'd wanna build this for alexa to so i started over. I left the casino as it was still running in in my twitch chat But i started over and completely rebuilt it so that the casino which i call chat zeno is completely standalone and so it runs on database It's just a. It's basically like a javascript library that i import into a project and then i call into it. Make it through the things. I wanted to but i haven't alexa version now and i have a Starting on the new twist version again and then we're gonna move it to slack and discord in all sorts of other places where you can play it and one of the huge benefits of it is that you'll your balance will follow you no matter where you go so if you're on twitch or slack or whatever you can easily link your accounts and then you have the same balance no matter where you are. It just blew my mind that it's been that long and then the other thing is that so many people had been talking about. Remember. When it was all happening and you know one of my friends. Even call and she's like you're. tweeting on twitter and I'm like what? And so funny because my phone have been going up but I didn't. Never really happens. I didn't really know what was going on. Sounds pretty cool, so this is the first time then that you're just minding your own business, and you're just brought back into tennis because of your career because of social media. Octavia E. Butler born - June 22, 1947
"June twenty, second, nineteen, forty seven. Science fiction author Octavia e Butler was born in Pasadena California. Butler addressed themes of gender sexuality and race through her speculative fiction over the course of her writing career. She received several awards, including the Hugo and Nebula awards. Butler's mother was a domestic worker in growing up Butler recognised racism and economic inequity that affected her family. By the time she was ten. She was already writing her own stories anti. She was interested in science, fiction, magazines and stories. As a young adult Butler pursuit pass besides writing and work temporary jobs, but she wrote when she wasn't working. Through the open door program at the writers guild. Butler was able to attend a class taught by science fiction author Harlan Ellison. He encouraged her to pursue writing further by attending clearing and science fiction writers workshop in Pennsylvania. Though Ellison had offered to publish one of her stories in an anthology. That anthology was never published. When she left Clarion, she began working on the novels that became part of the pattern EST series. The book in this series published by Doubleday. Nineteen, seventy six was patterned master in the book. telepathic people known as pattern EST are dominant over mute spor, non telepathic humans as well as over mutated humans call Clark's. The next two books in the series mind of my mind and survivor or published, nineteen, seventy, seven and nineteen, seventy eight. In one, thousand, nine, hundred four, she won a Hugo Award for the short story speech sounds and blood child when the Nebula Hugo and locus awards. But worked on Zeno. Genesis trilogy in the late Nineteen Eighties and in the one thousand, nine, hundred ninety, she published parable of the sower and parable of the talents, which followed the protagonist Lauren Amina as she escapes a walled community in Fouls Inoue. Butler once said quote I don't write utopia science fiction because I don't believe that imperfect humans can form a perfect society. "The incredible singing tortoise once upon a time on a stormy afternoon Zane was hurrying home from school he had just found out it was his turn for show and tell on. Probably GONNA be the same arms fighters or something but I mean everybody was clamoring for more arms news so it makes sense that this would come be nice. People like people like the day like the like really like aren't arm team. This is a character like A. I'm not really like it's not a character. I'm disappointed to see Smash Bros and it's what I kind of thought that they were going to do in the first fighter pass anyway. It's it's certainly leads me to believe that. They're they're really still thinking about making arms a franchise. You know what I mean like. They said that like well development is still happening on arms to while they didn't say arm sue but they did hint that they're working on a sequel to arms legs. Chocking thank you so that was kind of shocking to me because I feel that game kind of came and went so fast it sold well and I think it like stuck around for a little bit but this this does. This news feels few years too late. I'm with you guys on that like I think if they had announced this character Few months after the launch it would have made a little bit more sense but I was going to be sorry. I was surprised when the same kind of seems like a no brainer to put it like in the first round but it seems very weird to put it here in this third round of characters so the good thing is like they're they're coinciding with the allowing players to play the entire game for free for a little while. But I think that's pretty awesome. Even if I didn't super get into that game us Mr Smash Redman Right now but like I'm not like overly crazier excited about the idea of like arms character but I am excited about the prospect of what an arms character as a smash. Bros fighter would be like. I think that character could be really fun to play. Yeah like I think that that it would be a a a nice medium distance character. You know like a lot of like good good. Reach a lot of great recovery probably. Yeah I interested as a fighting cared. I'm interested in it as a fighting game. I just think it's a weird move in terms of like their overall oeuvre at this point but because I I kind of assumed that nintendo would would do arms and see the reception and then just like okay. Like that's exciting to me But beyond that. I'm excited because when I was asking about if I should start seeing a blade chronicles two million years ago. It's like it's more trouble than it's worth to go back to it because it's kind of an aged game so seeing this as like looking pretty much just as good as chronicles to now makes me want to be like. Oh Yeah I I can actually play this. Which is which is really exciting. Yeah I think the graphically like the overhaul looks gorgeous. The character models look really really good. The environments look really good. I think that the one thing that I really liked about chronicles to the ten hours that I spent with it was like it's just insane to see that expansive sort of open world those kinds of areas on the switch. No game does it anywhere near that good except for maybe breath of the wild so. Brian said I think it's really cool for fans of Zeno Blade. I'm stoked that they're get a chance to free. I've been trying to get rid of some before the wonderful holiday season we had but it was a great excuse to keep eating so We're going to tell you a few things that you can do. Naturally we're we're going to offer you some supplements recommendations about Some things you can take to help speed it up and burn it up and we're also going to answer some very important questions that you guys have been writing into us Dr Lewis. I'M WANNA put him on the spot because he doesn't really know what I'm going to ask him so we'll see how that turns out anybody's been married word you've been on the spot all those years. Anyway it's kind of fun so we're going to answer things like I follow all the rules but I still can't lose weight. I'm just getting old and my metabolism is slow. It's genetic there's nothing new about weight loss. How many of you have heard that one? I mean we've heard that on these last impounds just won't go away. I feel like I should give up and there are certain foods. I can't stop eating even though I suspect they're bad for me so we're going to help you figure out what to do to stop eating those and don't you have a weight loss pill you can give me. I can't tell you how many times people called our office asked. Do we have appeal. I to this day. Don't believe that we have discovered the magic pill. The doctor lous though I had a lady walk in one time she said. Can you help me lose weight. I said Yep being follow the rules. I said how much you need Lou. She said forty two pounds because she's going to class reunion. I said all right how long long you want me to. Or how long are you going to give me to help you with this. She says three weeks took Munaf out of my pocket opened up. The Blade says wish leg K.. Hey I've tried everything to lose weight. Maybe I need to accept myself as fat and give up my skinny clothes. And then I lose five pounds and then I regained seven it so frustrating and I know women say that a lot so moon due to eh if any of those statements are resonating with you than hold onto your hats because we are going to tell you perhaps one of the most important secrets of all is at your hormones could be out of whack and there are things you can do about that. So doctor Lewis. I guessed the number one thing that would make you out of whack to gain. Weight is a estrogen imbalance. Well that could be. You've heard me say pesticides. Odds plastics and fire retardants. But there there are so many different things that can and mimic estrogen. There Call Zeno Estrin. ESTROGENS ARE ESTROGEN ESTROGEN MIMIC hers. And that's why us. It is like it's not really for White Law. She she usually lose five six pounds. Maybe ten But you're cleaning up your body. People are so adamant soaring trying to clean it. Maligning language tr- so adamant about Detox while he's got a detox every day so the dam is very very important. Man What it did did for me is it made my prostate very very healthy. Well on a woman whenever they tell you that that is the main reason that they can't lose weight. Eight in relation to win a man loses. Weight is because of estrogen dominance. I think it's a stress living with her husband but it could be. I could be wrong. Well we've been on birth earth control pills all the all the kind of things that make estrogen higher. You know eating the meat. That's full of antibiotics. All that stuff you know. They're shot up with all all kind of chemicals that create an estrogen balance. Now you know meet Gets a bad rap and Janice Janez ride about the The antibiotics antibiotics and the ESTROGENS. But don't think red meat's bad you and it's not causing global warming. If people think me causes global global warming they know absolutely nothing about carbon sequestration You don't buy into it but get the good meat nowhere. Your meat comes comes from and make sure it's raised properly well and you should be eating more vegetables as well because I know a lot of this Kito Diet and all that staff you do a whole lot of protein. You should be doing a whole lot of vegetables. Also because that helps absorb the fiber helps absorb some of those Excreted access estrogens on the true. I mean more vegetables but if there's spraying those chemicals on them they're just as bad if not worse I than the mate. So that's why I tell people even if you're not getting any more nutrient density you're not getting the chemicals or the same amount on a chemical so go organic grow your own if he can. "In this segment will turn to the areas to watch for twenty twenty here writers from Science Forecast Areas of policy and research likely to make the news this year? They've called the chaos and identified some of the top stories. I'm Joel Goldberg now. Now we have an gibbons contributing correspondent at Science for twenty twenty. She's calling attention to a new method of examining the lives of people. Who Live far? Aren't past say a million years ago. The technique focuses on ancient proteins remnants of prehistoric life which could fill in some some of the blanks leftover from DNA analysis of archaeological finds. I N hi- Joel. It sounds like we're talking about something like fossil. CSI only by that thinking when expect DNA to be the most valuable molecules rather than proteins. So why is it that proteins so important this kind of analysis being done on these million-year-old specimens so for fossil detective work. Were you looking back in time. DNA is the best I molecule but it is more fragile than proteins degrades more easily and the oldest ancient DNA. We have from early. Human fossils is about four four hundred forty thousand years and from an ancient polar bear about six hundred thousand founding conditions that were perfect cold. Glacial conditions in the Arctic doc or in a cave. So now what's really exciting is researchers or being able to get ancient proteins. That are much older from a wide range of the bones and teeth and other materials that can shed light on early human evolution and evolution of other animals so the first step is to search fossils of human remains what can scientists gleaned from the proteins in those remains so the first thing that they often want to do is determine whether a fragment kind of bone or a bit of truth is actually from an early human ancestor. They might have a fragment that they can identify just by looking at it and so what they can do is look at the makeup jakup. The building blocks of the proteins such as Collagen the different amino acids varies between modern humans neanderthals for example. So this method was already used used to identify neander tall bone from one site and then another kind of human from another place and differentiate them for modern human bones so it's great for classification nation. But the other things that people can do with ancient proteins is they can use them to determine the sex of a fossil they can also use them to date the fossils if you have say early human ancestor bones and aside along with animal bones you can look at the decay of the protein actual molecular makeup and that can tell you how old which fossils older than the other folds who can help you do relative dating at a site which is great and then also we're using proteins to learn about say a the types of milk people might have been drinking when you're looking at era early use of daring getting those diets of the ancient humans. You got it. And with the Neolithic Revolution the revolution to agriculture. The questions about whether the first milk that people drank in the step of Russia and other places was a camel. Milk was a goat milk. So you can begin to get it. Diet and the types of food and drink people are consuming and get a quality of life issues as well which is really interesting. So it's really about finding the way of life of those ancient humans I think ultimately. Yes I identifying who. You've got an archaeological site. But then what does it reveal you about who these people were or the animals animals that were there and scientists aren't merely looking at proteins for these ancient humans and the remains they're also looking at AH artifacts more recent artifacts such as ceramic pots parchment from manuscripts even beeswax. What can scientists learn especially in regard to humans humans by casting this wide net over archaeological specimens so with the books? You're learning often about who I was making them. You can get the sex of the person if with the proteins who's making the books and working on the manuscript so you can learn about what kind of animals were used to make the parchment. You can also learn about the kinds of the economy kind of animals. They were trying to. They had abundant supplies of with the beeswax tax. It would tell you about the sources for the wax. What bee colonies? How far away do they go to get their wax and to make it so you start to get information about the lifestyles lifestyles of ancient people and you can do that for any any time? Her area to watch for twenty twenty is a somewhat somewhat eerie subject the transplantation of pig organs into humans these cross species transplants known as Zeno transplants are already Being performed on non human primates and may soon be primed for human trials. I Kelly Hi. Why is it that scientists are hoping to put pig organs into people so really simply? We don't have enough organs There are more than one hundred thousand people in the US alone. Who need some kind of organ transplant and are waiting waiting for a suitable organ So researchers have been thinking for a while about possibly using pig organs which are pretty similar size and structure If we could raise pigs to provide hearts or kidneys or pancreases or maybe livers That could could make up the shortage. So what's keeping these types of transplants aliens from being implemented. The big hurdle has always been that our bodies thankfully no how to recognize foreign material And our immune in system is designed to attack anything that it sees as an invader and so pick cells and tissues are making molecules that human cells don't so unless scientists can sort of convinced the human body that a pig organ is not an invader that organised probably not going to integrate harmoniously into into into its new host. And maybe that's not so unexpected that the human body is rejecting some aspects of these pig organs so immune rejection rejection is even a problem for human organs transplanted into a different human right but the but the problem gets a lot more extreme when you have a different species and speaking of different species. ABC's there are these non human primates who are involved. Can you talk more about that. Yes Oh the testing in in monkeys is sort of a stepping stone to to figure out about whether a pig organ can survive in primate and Can Be Safe So that's sort of a requirement for these research groups before they we're GONNA have permission to test these things humans. Okay so the non human primates step is a very important part of where this research is going. What developments can we expect to see in the next year round the issue? I think there's a lot of excitement in this field right now. and a lot of momentum Partially because because of of crisper genome editing. That's making it possible to Make really precise insertions into the pig genome And to make a whole lot of changes changes at once so what we're seeing now is several companies sort of designing their ideal engineered pig putting a whole bunch of genetic changes into into pigs and There are a couple of US companies that already have those pigs sort of thriving and so. Yeah what we're going to see in the coming year or so I think is more Non Human primate testing as groups are preparing to get permission for human trials. What are some of those groups and countries or speaking about so a couple of the front front runners? There's a Virginia based company called River core. That's making pigs that I have. I believe nine modified genes that are sort of designed to provoke less of an immune reaction even in human body and there's a company called E. Genesis which was founded by Harvard geneticists. That is collaborating with a company in China to produce Some of the most extensively edited pigs. That have ever been created for the purpose of transplant. What type of testing do you think will see and people I so? The first trials trials are not likely to be like whole hearts or whole kidneys. They're more likely to be for example. Cornea transplants from pig to treat blindness or pancreatic excels for diabetes. So I think researchers are sort of thinking about ramping their way up in complexity from there Kelly. "Neo pets were virtual pets and in in fact perhaps the most popular virtual pets ever to have existed on the Internet. So obviously we talked about Tom. Gotschi in a previous episode. But that's a little bit different right because that's like a little virtual pet inside of a physical thing. These yaps only live on the Internet. Okay hold on a second so when you originally this it was sort of referring to earlier when you originally said that you were going to do neo pets I said Oh. It's those ones where it's a stuffed animal and you can connect to the Internet and they live on the Internet to But no no. You're very well weren't very wrong but you wear wrong. Those are web kipnes. That's web kipnes. Okay probably more fun to be honest. Just having on a computer seems like a downgrade. Oh Oh Russ you are so wrong. Okay we'll get into it so neo. Pets have been around for almost twenty years now. Yeah at one point. It was the most popular one one of the most popular websites on the Internet. One of the most visited huge advertising opportunity but That and several other things actually contributed needed to. It's sad downfall until we got to it now where it's a sort of twinkle in Miss Stall GIC millennials is but we'll go back to one thousand nine hundred nine when it began so neo pets started in the UK by a couple that was in college. Actually they were both college age Adam Powell and Donna Williams so adams like kind of studying marketing and Donna was into art and Adam when and made his own online online at agency so this was toward the end of college So throughout call to dating and then toward the end Adam went and made his own ad agency which is pretty smart but the thing is like they were making all these banner. Ads wasn't really doing a ton. A ton of numbers for him. So Adam and his girl Donna. They as everyone does does loved animals. They loved pets because who doesn't so they had a ton of pets. They're kicking around. They didn't have a ton of money but they had a ton of pets for super into into animals and one day Adam was like Yo Donna. I'm on the computer all day. Work in the terrible job making ads. Why don't I just make pets on the computer? Everyone loves pets. Wait what yeah. That's the leap that he made like. I feel like we're missing a few steps okay. Here's here's my guests because he's making ads right Did he maybe invent the punch. The monkey add nope if he loves animals. Why would he make the punch? The monkey add just saying like maybe that was the progenitor neo. Pets was like well. He's got this monkey already. I don't need to punch. Maybe I could feed them a banana. I mean it's very much like key worked in AD agency and had coding shooting experience. Like that was kind of where he came from a programmer he like obviously understood marketing to an extent but was more of like a coder programmer. Guy Guy also nine hundred ninety nine so this is this is after the rise and fall of Tamagotchi like was that at all and inspiration for him. Yeah there has been no mention of Tamagotchi in my my reading but okay yeah I mean it really just kind of boils down to Yo. Let's figure out a way to make money money. Let's make pets online. which is a weird moneymaking scheme but I guess again like maybe he didn't think of it but me thinking about it like Tamagotchi but without having to carry a stupid egg around pretty good? Yeah I mean it makes perfect sense to me again because everyone loves pets. So Adam and Donna Collab- d- But the thing is so adam like coded the website the actual site itself and then Donna was in charge of the graphic design because she's artists. The thing is in two thousand five Adam told wired. There's a really big piece on the pets which we will which I got a lot of Info from so we'll we'll come back to it but he said the Donna literally did not know how to draw which sort of lake issue when it's just the two of you and you hire her on your artist But maybe he came to learn this through working with her Because essentially Donna was tasked with making the pet cells which is kind of key here right like. That's the how the very first neo pets. Were not very cute. They were Kinda weird. Look in some of them. Were literally just like sprite spaced off actual things. There was this one that was like literally a picture like Ajay peg of this British comedian. And that was one of the pets. Selena peg of a human being and you and what did you do with this comedian So I mean the point was still like you could hang out with them them. Raise them feed them play. Was it like like who was it. Like a known comedian. No one I've ever heard of some kind of like niche. It was a very British enterprise so sort of like a British like comedian. Who'd never really wasn't like filler? Like a temp piece of art. Well when it went up on the site yeah it literally was one of the one of the first neo pets. He actually went on to inspire one of the actual Lake Neo pets. So people recognized because we thought he was very funny so anyway. Yeah the first neo pets for Kinda weird looking Adam and Donna Donna. Just kinda seemed like they were goofing around even though they tend to stake their livelihood on this little bit. Because as far as I can recall at this point atom basically was committed to doing the neo pets thing full-time because it turns out. They started like dumping the link on all these virtual pet sort of like link groups newsgroups back in the day and a lot of people were really into it. There was a huge virtual pet community already and I feel like okay. Okay so like thinking back There was like pets with Z.. In Yeah and feel and like I guess the Sims was before. I don't remember when this came out but like now I think that's out there. Is there like troll creature things creatures. Yeah features yeah creatures right. Yeah like Weird Alien Things Ya ya like a it was a thing. It was like a little period of time for gaming. Yeah and I mean like as we said Tamagotchi did do well for a while. They're so like clearly is interest in folk Ammann to write like this was right after Pok mon on people like cute animals you guys. I don't WanNa keep beating this into your heads. People like pets so neo pets even in this very primitive state did super well like literally they were like. Okay Yo. This is our job. Now we're just GONNA keep making this neo. Pets thing that people inexplicably are very into despite like are very low quality and price. Sorry I wanna go back really quick you said that they would just drop links in forums to to get people to figure out about it. Yeah like there. Are these virtual pet sort of like communities. You know you guys know better than me. There's like those sort of like newsletter a group Shannon's newsgroups so and then people would just click the links and be i. I WANNA take a peek at chew maintenance our work yeah yes they would all make pokemon punts. Yeah okay okay. Yes until they got banned by me me so anyway yes so neo. Pets was doing pretty well and it was just kind of not not super complicated quite yet uh-huh but then in two thousand the sky named Doug doering who owned the the during company. Which is this market research firm heard of neo pets which this was like killing it? Like you CH- They had some additional things they had like some basic games at this point. They had people. Even I don't even understand. What are people doing with the pets? Okay so essentially what neo. Pets is or was at that time and then we'll go into like what it ended up. Having more of his you have you can have up to four pets. There was like a limited selection of them. And did you pay for the pets for it was totally free free to play and you could. Yeah so you had like a limit of four and you'd go into like the create a pet center and you can choose which of the pets he wanted. You can choose. What color was you could name Eh choose its personality and then you would have to take care of it? Basically I mean. It's kind of like Tom. mcgauchie literally just like feed it or and like make sure it's Ian or whatever and you play games pretty I wouldn't like level up and grow not really so the other thing is you're trying they get neo points which will come back way. You're going you guys. which is the virtual currency? And you use Zack. To like buy additional items you can go take your neo pets too like but grooming parlour. Go to the vending machine by different kinds of food. The whole thing is like getting money to take care of your pet. It's essentially yes reality basically but yes so. That's sort of the premise S.. which was it had like a very obviously loop right? So you're like going on neo pets to take care of your new pet which requires you to make money and then you spend all your money on food. Whatever so a lot of people were spending hours and hours and hours within the first few months as little promotion as they were doing they had ten thousand users continues to grow? Oh and so yeah in two thousand this American Dude who was like in Glendale California. I believe was heard about neo pets and he was like dude. This is a really good idea. There's legit money ops. Here Ma Dude so doug doering came to Adam them in. Donna was like yeah I can help you guys. I run a market research firm and my my guru. Here's the thing. E was a huge huge scientologist. So he would reference l Ron Hubbard and dianetics as much as possible L. H. L. R. H.. So he with the power of l Ron behind him the power of Zeno or whatever He was the bad guy needs to the back.
