Mario, Switch and Zelda: The Nintendo Story

"Wild wild tech and this show we explore. How technology affects our lives. An interesting thing that is happening at the moment obviously is it's a year since kind of lockdown started these tear in the uk and right alongside. That anniversary is the anniversary of animal. Crossing new horizons right. Like as we're recording this. Tomorrow i think is a year. Since lockdown started added a days ago is animal crossing came out and for me. Those two things is so inextricably linked that i i started playing on a crossing like as soon as it came out played every day for months and then i kind of drifted away from it but i went back for the story because i was like i wanna mark this moment and i immediately felt like brought back in time to the beginning of the pandemic said that kind of like classic video game nostalgia the get where you're like. I remember playing this the first time except with this game in particular. It's all tied to like. I remember playing this for hours. Because i was cited. My house and i couldn't leave such such a weird mix of feelings d. Do you get that with with games like that. Kind of weird style. Joe where you're brought right back to the moment. Yeah so i currently super into my my three ds which is an older nintendo system was the one just before the held just before the switch. And i'm playing a game. Called fire emblem awakening again and i used to play that on the subway. Pretty much you know on my way to work. It's like chess but more fun. Because the characters have great art depicting what they do at your pieces look like and they have relationships with each other and you know they tell jokes and fall in love and all this other stuff so it's kind of like a short book and a couple of moves of chess you know between subway stops and i'm playing it now for the first time in years because what like seven years old eight years old and i am a feeling like i'm back on the subway again is weird because i haven't been on mass transit in over a year and i feel like games are uniquely good at that because they engage so much of your mind that you just go right back to where you are when you first encountered like a game.

Happy anniversary, Animal Crossing!

"This day one year ago. The nintendo switch game animal. Crossing new horizons launched when we were all hunkered down at home trying to keep ourselves and family safe amid the pandemic we had this digital island oasis where we could fish build plante and simply enjoy our surroundings without worry joining us now to talk about. The anniversary of animal crossing is first time. Guest felicia wellington rebel and engagement editor with usa. Today who has written a very delightful piece exploring nine other cozy nintendo switch games for fans of new horizons felicia. Thanks so much for being here. It's great to have you. Thank you for having me so when i play new horizons. I didn't really know a lot about animal crossing. I knew bits here. And there. But i really didn't play much before this. How familiar were you with animal. Crossing before you started new horizons. I guess i'm not so different. I mean i was pretty familiar. Played new leaf that was for three d. s. Forget when that came out maybe like twenty eleven twelve and pocket camp. I was really can't probably because it was on ios. And i get engaged with it a little bit more often than like up either held or you know a conflict playing a console game and i knew it existed before that and i'd heard amazing things and the characters are in other games but i think this is the first time even outside of pocket camp that i just really like all the things. Let's all things here. I you know the thing that that struck me. When i was first playing new horizons last year was just it felt so peaceful and it felt nice to just concentrate on really simple things like i need to find another type of fruit to grow in my island or oh i need to build a new room in my house or oh and need to find something i need to build this or find this fish and it just felt so simple and compared with what we were dealing with in real life it was just so nice to get away What did you enjoy. Most about playing new horizons. Definitely all of those things. I think it the game releasing at the same time that everything shut down and i'm in a state that was one of the first Completely shut down New jersey and so it really was just. It was like a place to visit. It was a social outlet Because you can buy friends to your island etcetera but you're also just interacting there were all these new interactions in the game that yeah going on a year. You're just like you already said that twice today. My island villager. But in the beginning it was all very brand new. You're still inviting people. The goals were still fresh. It was kind of. Like what do i want my island to look like and i just couldn't get enough and i still enjoy a lot of those same things as the new releases. Come out. I really do like i know that. Not everyone is pleased with some of their choices but the very fact that it's just constant new materials over the span of not just this past year but i think they've got stuff plan for the next couple of years. I think that's amazing. And i know it's not too different from previous games. I'll take a very much been a thing to look forward to In a world where we don't have a whole lot of things we can go out and experience and so being able to go into this digital world and really look forward to some of those goals are really kind of grind away at something. Adorable has been been a lot of fun. Yeah that was one thing i love to is meeting the neighbors you know and be able to socially interact with people because it's hard when you're guaranteed you can't really see anybody in person and that was like a nice little kind of weird thing where you know you just got to meet your neighbors and hang out and talk and stuff and it was such a simple thing but it was just really great to yeah. I absolutely love it. I know that some of the same functionality and previous games where like you could find out like their favorite drink and music is isn't quite in this game yet but in the beginning i didn't care it was just like who's moving to my island because you know some of those first ones you don't have a choice And then you're traveling from ireland. Define the person that you want or even just like looking up who you might wanna. Is this person still in the game. Who were the new characters. I don't know there was just a lot of i. I'm gonna call it collection. Finding you know where it's just like. Ooh all these new opportunities. What are what are the possibilities. Which ones do i want with my aesthetic. I don't know there's a lot of fun in that almost like childlike wonder. That's there yeah absolutely. So let's talk about your piece. You mentioned nine switch games. The player should consider if they love animal crossing if we had narrowed down to three. Which would you choose bellboy. Fine giving getting to nine okay fair. There were a lot of games on there. And they're all kind of open world. So i can see why you might just want some top choices. So let's see well. Ledge legends zelda is like a forever recommendation. So i'll pick three others. That one counts though. It's like your bonus always recommended any game in that franchise that whole series So well last campfire. I think is one of my favorite games on the list. No no no offense to all the others are all great but there is something about that game. It's a little haunting but Not in a bad way but oh kind of like. Wow like a very emotional game but i just i'm so drawn to it. I really enjoyed playing it. The puzzles I don't know everything about that. Game just really drew me in and another emotional one was Spirit fair. I think that when a lot of people recommend mount one it was really good. I'm happy check that one out. At first i was like. I'm gonna cry when i play that i'm good. I've done enough crying. But it really is just a great game and i'm really. I'm really thrilled. That i tried that one. I almost passed on it. And then i should say star valley which is great. But i'm gonna say little would as the third choice and here's why you can't really go wrong with you either one. They're pretty similar like very similar and they're probably both the most similar to animal crossing. But when i pick up the switch i tend to feel drawn to littlewood a little bit more. Sorry starting valley. I just i just open it way. More than i do start started valley little would so that will be the recommendation simply because at that because ultimately when i pick it up what do i go to play the most. If that's it then that's one. I should recommend okay. I'm going to have to try little would on the switch at. It's like super indy. I think it was just one guy who i think. He had a kickstarter for it and finally got it published. And i don't know. I really i really like it

"zelda" Discussed on The Besties

"There's there's plenty of history here that like the idea of capcom. i mean. just straight up making leans. Zelda games. seems. Brian imaginable now. yeah but they were doing it and they made good stuff like these are good and i think with minhaj kappa particular. It is in the way that oracle's agencies and seasons kind of bit off more than they could chew. This felt like okay. We're going to unify the team. We're going to bring everything that a normal core. Zelda game would have into a single project and because of that the whole thing feels the way more holistic and thought out and the flow feels really good I i love. i think. The logistics of playing ford's adventures even though conceptually. It's a very cool idea. Makes it very tough because like yeah. No one fucking heslin cables like i should online. I'll play it in a heartbeat. Yes absolutely well. here's the thing though. I feel like that is never going to happen because try force. Heroes was such a disaster. That was i feel like try. Force heroes was sort of the spiritual successor to four swords adventures. Try force heroes. If you don't remember it. And i do not blame. You was the three d. s. multi-player zelda game that was supposed to be like kind of rpg e where like you went through and tried to collect these treasures and got a stronger link of a different color with different like tools that got stronger but like it wasn't great was dissolve the game that came out before breath of the wild. I think it may have been why. So yeah twenty fifteen. And i don't think we had anything else until until two thousand seventeen. Oh yeah no. that's right. Yeah that makes sense. That's wild on. Where we between. And then i i think minhaj cap here. I and then we can set up. I really want to hear justin's opinion on the next one because it's a real doozy. Did you have any thoughts on this one juice on this match. No i couldn't even fucking romero mash. Capel's what am i going to go on youtube and watch cap. I've got two kids. I'm not doing that. I i think. Four and four sorts of novel and was really really fun at the time. But i think minicab gets it just because it is like the best not nintendo zelda game like it is kind of incredible how good a game it it is when it doesn't have that like you know that nintendo quality stink on it now for for the mitch cap. That's it for the next category. I want you to picture. Someone like a mike tyson in the boxing ring. And then having me step into the ring and also there that might play out. And they're like and he's all over there like have you had any vitamin c for months. Russ you're like no i've got. I've got super scurvy. I mean the only fair match up would have been phantom hourglass versus spirit tracks and then all of us could have just like kind of gone to sleep a little bit in the middle of it or use the restroom and come back and say it doesn't really matter but we do have phantom hourglass link's awakening plus remakes. Okay i'm gonna talk about that about that's a s- that's very fucking sneaky. By the way does sneaking in like an awesome switzerland maybe had to round out the sixteen to be. I don't think we even need lincoln too much. Because we're gonna talk about it a lot more solicitous phantom hourglasses okay. So phantom hourglass came out on the nintendo ds right correct. But you look at gameplay. Have you forgotten this game. A you will get game plan but you will not believe that. That's actually what it is. It's like a lot of stylus. Integration into the celtics exclusively integration with the stylus. that really was the biggest downfall found on phantom hourglass. I actually think it has some pretty interesting puzzles and dungeon mechanics and stuff like that. That is entirely failed by the fact that the only way to attack enemies is due. Swipe your stylus across the screen like a maniac. There is no offside you could've stripped all that stuff from the game. And i would have been a pretty okay zelda game but they were so dead set in the way that like nintendo gets like well. It's a game so it needs to have the we stuff that's how it was on the d. s. Hey we have this stylus pad. You're going to have to use it a lot and it just totally kills my. Do you remember. Metro-dade prime hunters. Yeah it was like s metro sort of the same thing and they released like a special peripheral which was a thumb. It was like a thumb tack thing or a little thing that you slipped over your thumb yet. Was like a little tiny stylus on your time because you had to use that as the basically the right the screen as right analog stick it was fucking horrible and i feel like bay just tried to do the. Ds was such a great handheld such a great system and the only company that seemed to not be able to figure out how to fuck and use. It wasn't indo because they kept putting up brick after brick. I mean it just felt like they were so like internally. They were like well every feature needs to be used. If we're gonna be a first party nintendo game. We need to use every little bell and whistle. So we're going to blow into that mike. You're gonna use your stylus and you're going to go on because otherwise the mike and that was terrible and it was also not the worst thing about phantom hourglass classes. The structure of the game was terrible. You would go into a dungeon which weren't memorable or particularly fine and every time you finish when you had to come back to this central castle location that you had to sneak through. It was a big stealth mission essentially over and over and over and over again. It was my numbing and terrible. Every time you came back to the castle i think you had two replay. Yeah floors you had already done to get to like the new area it was egregious padding and yeah it was it was. I can't believe it hail talking about it. I think link's awakening one. I think that brings us to halftime. Okay that was a lot of talk about zelda games and what. We've got a pallet cleanser here for you where we talk about. Moore's l. a link between worlds verses linked to the past while that's this is the hardest matchup in the entire three i linked to the passes Of course a classic michael talked about like the culmination of to game design up to that point. Fuck link between worlds was good and it's man link between worlds good asking game. Yeah we talked about canhoto bit but like link between worlds is as far as aware a direct sequel to a link to the past ready in our state is set in the same world like saint fireable same locations but his low rule. Actually you wanna be oh. I think it's actually both it's high roland anyway. But it's the total reimagining of like what zelda game could be. Brian make a confession to y'all shortly Link between world is my favorite zelda game like hands saw cans out and i've played the vast majority of zelda games one zelda game. I had not played until this week is called the link to the past. I know i know. I know i just. I assumed it wasn't blood same way. That's doing.

"Named Jordan, who holds a top 10 time on the switch in we you of versions of Zelda the breath of the wild. Hey, actually beat it. 100%, So no glitches. This is the kind of speed he's learned. And I'm into Hey also did another 1% run a month after that without taking any damage in the entire game, And he has now beat the game 100%. Using just his feet at as controls you could sell. The pandemic is really wins the people's imagination, too. You don't know people were still doing stuff like this. Even before the pandemic. He actually said that it was harder beating the game using just his feet. Then it was beating the game without taking any damage. Now I just

I am dealing. Well had a pretty good weekend. Started going back into final fantasy seven remake with my girlfriend. So she's going through it some having fun kind of watching her go through that ready for a nice long game and the the other thing i did this week going as i finally got a new phone so my phone from like five years ago is has been replaced and my goodness when you wait that long. It's ridiculous how much faster it is. Some blindly untreated even one of those people that like i use it till it breaks and finally i can't anymore i just can't was your weekend. I can relate to that. do good. I chill out. We we actually got. We had this like home garden Thing that we had gotten a while ago so we went ahead and planted that this week and And then i just. I just did. Some destiny went did that. Secret mission That was recently released. That was really good super atmospheric. I i i absolutely loved it. Got a solid gun from it and then played some more spiderman. Got the sinister six reveals. So we're grinding away. I'm moving along with that Those fantastic enough about us. Oh please introduce our guests. We are excited to welcome two very special guests today. You know them from the group. Latin x and gaming. You may have seen them honored at the game awards in december as global gaming citizens. We are excited to be joined. By the founder of nexen engaging cristina amaya and co founder and developer relations head. Elaine gomez thank you both to For join us today. How you guys then thank you. Thanks for asking. Yeah thank you so much for having absolutely thank you so much for taking the time and and i'm excited to talk about Talk about the Next and gaming and everything that you guys have done so far sorry. I didn't mean to cut you off there go ahead. You're fine. i was just gonna say we're excited. This is an amazing group. We talk to fernando last year. A little bit about the group. But we're we're super pump to take a deep dive into it but before we get to that. We just wanted to touch on a couple subjects and ryan last wednesday right before the nintendo direct rocked. I was so excited. Because i was almost one hundred percent. Sure that we were gonna get breath of the wild or pokemon or metro news. And we got them. We struck out. We struck out if you haven't you happen to be me on twitter. You saw like like the realization that like none of that was happening. And i look. I'll start by saying this. There were a couple of games. That intrigued me. I'm actually looking forward to the new. Mario golf game of the project triangle. Game looks interesting. I love that art style. But i don't know ryan. I was just disappointed. What about you. yeah. Yeah it was definitely. I felt like it was pretty underwhelming As far as what we thought we were gonna get versus what we actually got So i mean again. There were some some nice Games that they presented and whatnot. But i just thought that especially with it being a thirty five year anniversary of zelda. I thought we would get some some big news as far as with that again. What they said they were gonna port a port over night. Work soared scar. Yeah and i never. I never played that one. So i am excited to have the opportunity to actually go through and run that Zelda but i mean again it's it's been it's been a good amount of years since Breadth of wild came out. They've already we already know that breath a while to is is in the works. I thought for sure going to drop it like it's hot and give us some heat there but you know we. We did not get that so it'll be interesting. I mean again. This could be something that maybe in the second half of the year that they looked to drop then as well again. We know that anytime. People are are rushing games They seem to to very much have a negative impact on their releases. So you know again you guys. They know what they're doing They they always had. I feel like they have a solid plan as far as marketing and getting games out and stuff like that so i still think we'll get it this year Yes i thought it was going to happen then but the years not over is still early. My friend deshaun. Hopefully you're right. I just the joy was getting sucked out of me. The longer let direct went on in the close to the end that we got. That's okay though. That's a good. You're right the year is young christina a u and nintendo fan at all. Did you catch the direct. Yes i did not get to watch the direct because it winds carrying my meetings. But i will say that as a very large fan since childhood i straight up do not understand word sword. I'm just gonna put it out there. I would much rather buffalo wild to or just a teaser trailer. Something anything five seconds. Give me a carina time. At least you know what. I mean like i. Yeah i yeah. I don't even know what that is a series. What was that four. Like thirty something. I

Nintendo Switch Outsells the 3DS

"Switch has sold seventy nine point eighty seven million and that is hell of a lot and the nintendo switch light has almost surpassed the sales of the we. You just the light. Why oh man. Yeah that's a it's a big number it is. It's pretty incredible. Just just like think about the the roller coaster ride that nintendo has been on with insane success of the we the we and the insane crater of the we you not that again. We have to caveat. There's every time we say this financially. I still think that system was really fun. Rain like it was a financial disaster or at least a sales disaster and now this is like they're on top of the world. it's it's insane that trajectory. It's really really yeah. I think honestly. I don't think it's hyperbole leads to say that in japan console warsaw and no. It's the what was it so far this year. Ninety nine percent of all software sold in japan was for the switch right eighty and like hardware was and what is important to note he is that intendo always dominated the handheld sector in japan and that market has turned away from consoles quite a bit right and so in a way. It's a sad story right if the. Ps five dozen succeed in japan. That's a bummer. Because we might get fewer titles for that platform from japanese deaf students. Or maybe they'll they'll be serving more kind of like the western tastes but either way something could be lost but It's obviously really good for the switch. So i looked at the data Their nintendo still expecting to sell two point. Four million units in this fiscal year. Remember that fiscal year ends in march. It's not a calendar year. Which means the entire year for the intended would be twenty six point five million so that stacks up with how the we did back in its heyday. Like the i think the fourth year for the we was like something around twenty five million so the switch will be doing better than the we however in. This is the thing that i think. A lot of people are ignoring at the same time. Nintendo back then sold thirty one million. Dss right and so. We have these The hamilton the console lines are combined into one. And so it's not exactly the same scenario and so fewer pieces of hardware being sold in japan. I'm because we have one console race now but what it means like at the end of the year you know. I mean first of all at the end of the quarter. You'll be seeing the the switch. Probably clock in at eighty two million sold worldwide which means it is ahead of the psp which was a big success in japan. It's ahead of the gpa. Which was a big success. Everywhere in is right behind the xbox three sixty so the end of the year will probably see the switch ahead of the three sixty and the ps three. And i also wanted to mention that. New horizons is reached. Thirty one point eighteen million sold so it. It's very close behind the best selling game so far. Which is mario kart. Eight deluxe which is at thirty three point. Forty one million. Which i know we've talked about before because this is a week game. We don't crazy so we might actually see a made for switch game take over the first slot sometime. This year with a wonders never cease game specifically aid for the nintendo switch. And not the we i. We talked about the blessing. And the curse of mario kart eight selling so well because it's like nintendo has less incentive of cranking out. Mario kart nine right. Yeah but but but hopefully hopefully not hopefully they think they can do those numbers again with the marcotte nine with completely different tracks and all that i feel like i would have to write. I know horse. I'm sorry to bring this up on blue. But i i saw you talking about elegies mansion three has sold more than a lot of zelda games in the past. Yeah which is. I think that's really cool. I mean you just mentioned three again if you are. One of the one of the switch owners are listening to this. Podcast does not has not played it. You make a huge mistake. There's a reason ten nintendo boy that studio the last game is a huge step up from the original. Luigi is mentioned which was developed in house by nintendo and a huge step up over the the second game. So i think that's really cool that we're seeing this sort of success on you know mario's little brother and tall brother. Whatever he is. Basically the macy of mario felt. It's true and i. I've noticed that now really really cool. I am on those swift owners. Who has not played louise three so i think it's worth it. It's

Bowser's Fury Preview

"Mario three d world with the expansion. Our friend joe scribbles over in the uk was able to get some hands on with it ryan. I know you're a big fan of super. Mario three d world. What did you think of joe's preview. I didn't read it. Because i don't want to be spoiled because i'm very excited for this. No it's okay. We'll do it now. It's it's. I'm super excited for this. I'm not necessarily in media blackout. I've seen what i needed to see. I read a little bit about the length of this Sort of bonus campaign. I'm all in like. I don't need anymore to need anymore. Arm twisting this is basically a brand new three d. Mario mini game Or small smaller size game coming to switch very soon. And i can't wait i'll i will hundred percent the main campaign in this game again in multi-player I love game so much. And the boundaries. Fury stuff looks amazing. Didn't read the preview. So i don't want to be spoiled but now my friends could spoil me while i'm stuck here in this chair being forced to listen. I can tell you everything. That's an bits wide though. It's a jovan an awesome job if you listeners viewers if you haven't watched it watches His preview does a really nice job at breaking down the two parts of the game. You know he says it's basically two games in one you get. The classic slightly sped up right more more Side scrolling oriented games. Like mario odyssey three d. exploration game but like this kind of fast for player game and then this completely separate mode. He was only able to get limited time with you. Know a probably everybody's curious about houses fury but he said it's it's really interesting because it's it uses the three d world engine but then a kind of more world set up like odyssey so when you watch preview you can see. It sometimes doesn't quite look as good as odyssey but in general it still looks really impactful because it has all these cool weather effects and it's just really really need to see the styles of the two games mixed like that but the thing that i thought was really interesting is that he He confirmed that. The browser appearance is like the blood moon. Zelda in that it's like a world event that happens and when bowser is there he'll he'll attack you and his attacks can open areas or destroy blocks otherwise you wouldn't be able to get into so it's like it's a scary event but it's also welcome event and so the thing he wasn't able to do is to actually do the battle with presumably. That's what you build up to and that's how you end the level. It's really cool looking. There are so. I don't know how much you want to be. I think he said that you can get him to go away by picking up one of the collectibles called the cat shine and he said there were a lot of similarities and call backs to mario sunshine but no no flood or anything like that and there's an item you can pick up and then do gigantic tax battle with bowser area. Yes you collect. Shines basically like in sunshine which is a different from obviously three d world in the way it set up but yeah it is. It is very curious right like that. You can get a mini mario adventure in it like it almost makes it feel like maybe at one point and they were thinking about doing this. This cap thing as odyssey deal sea level or something like that. Yeah it's I can't wait to play. Unfortunately you know my number one player partner my daughter. We used to play this together. She now lives in japan but luckily the came has multiplayer. So that's right. I mean online online. It does have online from from what i saw. Sort of on social media It seems to work pretty well. I'm i'm i'm very into that concept. I think you're totally honest. Something it it does feel kinda curious that there's this brand new side mode because nintendo didn't need to do this you know like a lot of their Ports have from the you era have been a lot more straightforward. They've added some stuff here and there into like pick men and obviously we got an additional stuff in I guess what was it in. Mario kart today add battle mode eventually on. Yeah we got additions on the switch for sure. Yeah this this game is fantastic on its own and it doesn't feel short on content at all so i'm super happy. They decided to add even more. Like i said one hundred percent of the last one. I'll do it all over again. But i was not expecting anything new here to get. That is really cool. Bonus for fans. Like but i think you're right like the. I wonder when when and where the development of this mode was sort of adjacent to like. Was this an odyssey thing. Was this three d world. Dlc or additional stuff that they were planning until they saw you know the we you kind of tapered off in terms of sales but either way. I'm glad it's here now. It's neat yeah and you know just as a guiding

How the Virtual Office Could Replace the Physical One

"It's another monday in the world of remote work depending on. When you're listening to this you might be going up for another day of sitting in front of your computer in your zoom sweater. Trying to get stuff done by video conference. We're of course familiar with the challenges of remote work already. Big recalls can be awkward and inefficient in. Its part to replace the serendipity of running into someone in the break room but lately some new services have been trying to solve those issues with virtual office. Spaces are columnist. Christopher mims visited one himself and he joins me now to talk about what he saw. Hey christopher thanks for being here. Thank you for having me. So you've visited the virtual offices of id corporate. They were using space through a service called gather. Can you talk about what that experience like. I visited a number of corporate offices in my time so it was strange to visit of virtual office reminded me of real world ones. Which are you know. Kind of whimsical lake airbnb. They have all their conference rooms. Which are modeled after various apartments on airbnb so being in a virtual office where there were desks and conference rooms and you know stage for people to give talks and a cafeteria and a bar and the office is actually in a castle and there's a beach it was really funny. How even though. I'm walking around with my avatar. I felt in some sense. Like i was there. And maybe that's you know decades of playing video games. But i also think that there is a lot to be said for the way that video games. They're designed over. Decades has been refined to really tap into innate abilities that we have so for example in our brains we have place cells which are physical analogues. It's an individual neuron lights up when you go to a place and you can see this on the brain of a rat when it's traveling through maze for example or if you talk to people who win the annual world memory championship a lot of them. What called memory palaces. You imagine a house and you walk through and you place the object. You wanna memories in the house that works so well because we have this huge section of our brain which is devoted to place and geography and navigating in three dimensional space. We just don't use it with our existing interfaces communicating remotely. So when i went into a virtual tutti office and started walking around the thing that really struck me was like oh my god. I'm using more of brain and it feels more natural so when i'm in a virtual h. A hosted on for example gather. It's very easy. I just use my arrow keys. And i'm moving in two dimensions link in legend zelda and at the same time they have incorporated sort of the minimum requirements for communicating in that space as we would in a real one and one of the spatial audio of my avatar is next somebody else's avatar. We can talk freely in these little bubbles just like we went through video chat you know if we walk away from each other the sound fades and dies complete so you can create these clusters of conversation or you can walk up to somebody in the hallway and have chat with them. That's private or you go into a room. Only people in the room can hear each other. So this allows you know based on my interviews with the people who are working in this these types of spaces this kind of more spontaneous collaboration link. We're used to in an office at the same time because you can make yourself more or less available you can turn off your camera. You can say i'm away. You're not tethered to your desk. As he would be in a physical space going to this office it just it really struck me how quickly i was able to interview a lot of people just by walking up to them and that just doesn't work with the friction of you know. Zoom call words like. Oh where's the link. Okay here logging in. I'm waiting for you to log in. is everybody here. Oh you're muted just all of that. Extra friction really gets in the way of spontaneous communication. I think and gather is one of a number of companies offering similar services. Just how widespread are these types of platforms and how are companies using them. There are a lot of companies using them. I mean one of the biggest ones which is called remo remote dot co. they're used a lot for events. They told me that they have multiple hundreds of thousands of monthly active users. Spatial chat claims similar figures. You know they have people using them. From every big chunk of money you could imagine plus boeing and a bunch of other fortune five hundred companies. Not all of which are paying members because of course they all have a freemium tier so it is. Nasa sent hundreds of thousands of monthly active users. But if you're having a few big events that could only be a few dozens or hundreds of individual companies but has impressed me that the biggest ones by just traffic are bootstrapped. And they're like look. We already making revenue. We don't need investment because we are just were able to pay our server bills from people signing up that is of course a very powerful signal that something is sticky. And it's working if you can get to revenue if you can go from nothing to a product that is making money in nine months. That's a very compelling space generally sounds like a lot of users and how all these companies using these types of platforms. It sounds like it might just be more about special events than it is about you know putting in your full nine to five from the virtual office. I think rate now. The initial use case for most companies and organizations is events because partly that allows them to dip their toe. It's low commitment. I mean if you're going to have a holiday party. In one of these people have to adapt their work style to spend a couple of hours walking around some virtual space so companies using it to work in. I think are in the minority. I've also heard interesting. Use cases lake people holding scientific meetings. And the they build out this big hall. And then everybody's standing in front of their scientific poster and anybody who's ever been to a science meeting or a medical meeting knows that that is the central ritual for disseminating new data and information also just like meeting people in your field and it's the science fair for adults but it's really important in in academia so it's been interesting that so many universities and other institutions seem to be using it for those kind of events others are using it for parties summer using it just to replace what people the old the stuff that we all used to go to in convention centers. Where you'd go to a talk but the real substance of it is having coffee or drink with somebody over chris. I can put on my cynical hat for a second. During the pandemic i feel like workers are struggling with zoom fatigue and with the sort of always on mentality that comes with being full remote. These services seem to require more presents out of employees and and that seems like a potential challenge. I think as with zoom as with slack where we were promised. This is the future. Remember where it can then once you once you're kind of forced to use like really high doses of these things you really run into their limitations and you get zoom fatigue or slack on or whatever you wanna call it. I think that the same could be true for these on the other hand. I think that there is the potential for them to be the next evolution. That makes it a little bit more. Sustainable i remote work experts. I talked to cautioned against companies saying. Oh this tool is gonna solve our problem for us at base. I think the real challenge with remote work is companies need to establish a bunch of new norms in some ways. Very different from what we are used to in an in person office where norms can be established by as moses have to be more deliberate and you know whether or not you're using a virtual each q. Being forced to everyone share what they're working on in some kind of document that can be accessed a synchronous all those little nuances of what it takes to make a really functional. Remote workforce work. That doesn't go away. The tool doesn't solve for that automatically. But maybe it makes it a little bit easier so it sounds like you think this is something that might be here to stay as we move into at least a more heavily remote workforce in the future absolutely. I also think that ultimately we're building toward kind of a more complete fusion of the internet and real life through the mediums like augmented reality in some ways. I think we're laying the tracks now for that so the more we get used to collaborating remotely through all these tools the more natural it will seem to toggle between what we're doing in the real world what we're doing on the internet via other things like our glasses are vr. Headsets are ever more mobile. Devices are risk based whatever aren't. That's our tech columnist. Christopher mims thanks so much for joining me. Thank you for having me.

Co-Op Gaming Reflections

"Let's dive into co op gaming. What coop gaming is what our personal experiences with. It are what we love about it miss about it. Is it still in our lives. Let's talk about it. let's get into it. Let's do it for me. It co op. Gaming is kind of something that moore took place in highschool in anywhere else really growing up. I had a lot of friends that i lived in the same neighborhood. As but we didn't really play a whole ton of co op games really. It was kind strange. The we played a lot of smash brothers and a lot of stuff like that but for the most part we part time just kind of watching each other play single player games. It was fun. We enjoyed our time. But eventually i moved towns in kind of lost contact with those guys and got into high. School is kind of was around. The time. That online cooper really started to become a big thing and i talked about in the first episode. It's when i kind of transition to every friday would or not every month with games with gold on xbox they'd be dropping a new game in a lot of them just had online co op functionality. And mean a lot of friends from high school. Would just you know get together late nights and we would play together in go through these new games that we would have access to and we had a ton of fine and then also in college how You have a lot of time. Spent on co op gaming with a buddy of mine. Who who had a lot of fun your plane we also. We'll we'll talk about probably a little bit later in the podcast. A lot of the games that we time with. But yeah for me. They'll cobb gaming was a big part of you know school too early college years and even now to we did the stream together with halo and and i was a blast. I enjoyed that at ten. Yeah i think it was I think it was great. What's funny too is when i was thinking about that. When we played halo one in halo two the master chief collection online co op when thinking about this episode and brainstorm in my personal experience. What's crazy is that he didn't not even come to mind. Because you know i'm thinking couch co op and you know when i've you like an online game like oh it's it's just online multiplayer but it's like no that that was co op like there was a single objective. We're progressing through the story. It was both of us we were we were co op in it. Yeah yeah it's really. It really is strange to kind of take a look at things and see how they've changed over the years you know the traditional co op experiences. Kinda rare to see nowadays bright. And we've been discussing this. Just digging through you know has co op. Gaming declined is still present. Or does it just look different and well. The answer is like yes yes. It's all of that. It's taken different forms. It still existed in some ways. It has declined and it's just it looks differently. It's tough to get a real good grasp on on what it is right and and we can definitely died a little bit more. We wanted to in that in terms of my own personal experience with with coop. Kind of like you. I didn't really have a lot of co-op experiences as a kid. It was more of you know. Yeah i'm watching a friend play or i'm you know on playing pokemon single player on my own on the ds or gameboy. I'm not really doing any coop or even a or possibly like online multiplayer and call of duty online. Like there was there was not a significant. Like getting a friend sitting on the couch. Let's beat the story together until later in life. Literally twenty twenty with the halo one halo two as well as my wife niki. Were we played a decent amount of co-op games not a whole lot. But a cynic significant number. I'll probably just jump into the ones that i have played which includes zelda four swords adventure which we've already discussed and you can listen to episode to my quarrels with playing that game coop. If you played a single player you probably had a fantastic experience. coop. Be prepared period. I'll just say that. I'm not even going to give you some specific so we need to be prepared for just be prepared for source adventure and captain toad treasure tracker on the switch which is a highly recommended couch co op game. Very fun We both enjoyed it a lot in. It's not really one of those where you get mad at each other. Shore are some incidences. Or you're like okay. Come on you're lying behind or no. You should have done that. But it's a very tranquil calming. Let's work together. What you would envision a co-op game to be you know a co-op puzzle game specifically. We played a little bit of epic. Mickey i believe epic mickey to specifically one hundred three sixty have not beaten on one but we played a little bit of that one. I think that was actually two thousand. And nineteen another good one that we played the sheer couch. Co op is the knack. That was a very enjoyable op experience It was a little bit like a platformer beat em ups game. It was a game that was a launch title for the playstation four. But just a short sweet very very enjoyable couch co op experience. Which we'll get into kind of some things of why i love coop caming and use a knack as a reference but lastly the final title coop game that keep in mind this list this is my co op experience. After i name this last one i haven't really played a whole lot of co op games outside of this but i really do enjoy them and i really do wish there was

"In his mask sweaty good. There's even a beautiful picture. I bet could find it. Really fat. Anything with pesto. I'm going to eat it. Yeah okay. I'm gonna eat it like my hartfield staff why. That's so much pesto. Having an experience right now. I'll share this stuff. Corey legends cookbook dude. There's a lot of you can put as much pesto as your heart desires. A spot fact. Fax them to make some homemade. Pets poured over everything. So your coffee. i have a question. I'm just kind of curious. Because i i honestly don't know at the time of this recording. Is there anything to look forward to in terms of future zelda games and whatnot like i don't i don't know four swords on the switch now hopefully more. Let's test for sword. That pesto is not a character. And zelda game that i don't know what playing with intendo here like peg niclely technically. You always have the option to your character at the start of the adventure so on past but one thing i i'm looking forward to this is this is like a hot take aka. It's not a popular opinion because that's what a hunting. I'm sorry i'm kind of interested to see what kind of gets revealed more from these high reward games because the fact that they're like third party developers but they're also still within cannon which is wild to me it's like it's it's a little bit of the risks. Were starting to see the film ministry of owning like your stories are not only here. They happened outside the scream. So it's like you might not you'll learn more about these characters from game that's not. I partied license or develop through nintendo. Which is it's this new zelda. And that's the thing. I think with zelda kind of purity that they never really had third party games so i think the big ones like for a they had like i think the big warriors boy. I think i was thinking more. Cdi but we're not gonna. We're not gonna talk about those. Those were look for some reason there. You could license With like for the most part like they're like every game came on intendo. I would only say there and like maybe on the mobile or on the handheld consoles but like there wasn't like you know like maybe had smash bros and they had like again link's sword training whatever and it was like everything other than that everything was all like. Here's the story. Here's the new story here. How it adds to blah blah and then like now. It's like well now something else.

"Pay nba parker. I'm a producer here at the cut. But before this humble brag i was a film professor. And i obsessed about every minute beautiful and infuriating thing in film and television to be fair. I still do so. I was recently watching. The netflix. miniseries the queen's gambit because as a former chess club kid. I expected it to be my jam. So i was overjoyed and then befuddled to see the character. Joe lean the protagonists childhood. Bff from the orphanage and black girl. Savior extraordinaire whose entire purpose is to be labeled as difficult while sacrificing huge parts of herself so that the porcelain white girl can play chess and it felt all too familiar to me. It reminded me of this film. I loved as a kid called a little princess dealer. Decent thought i would die till i heard you talk about the magic. I grew up faithfully watching the one thousand nine hundred five version of a little princess by alphonso croissant about a rich orphaned white girl who ends up being a servant all girls school and spencer evenings in the attic with the orphan servant. A little black girl who shares in her daydreams in fantasies but unlike the queen's gambit for this cold where he comes from in a little princess both girls free themselves together and truly become princesses in lace and curls allow to grow up sisters. But still there is this disconnect. The black girls still feels like the friend on the sidelines. Even if she's spunky and nothing awful or bad happens to her. This was the case with a lot of the movies. I grew up on. They all had interruptions of the sweet black sidekick there was also lavender the best friend matilda. It's much better than being out there. And jesse in the babysitters club really an idea might be brilliant. And the most classic example for black kids of the ninety s was a grown man. Lavar burton as star trek. The next generation sweet brainy sidekick jordi la forge computer as we increased our power levels. Was there any counterreaction. Affirmative him but listen. I'm not here to complain. I'm just sort of navigating my way. Through this trope. It is not entirely a bad thing at all as a brainy spunky little black kid i loved these characters. I mean. I needed them. One of the first things. I noticed about the next generation is that they have shorty fords. I remember as a little girl. I had like a brown suede hip band. And i used to put it over my eyes. So i could be jordan forge. George soros outspoken introverted. He makes amazing friends. Went the android on this. And i was like. This guy is still gave the nerve babies though cool that is none other than the actress. Zelda harris. When she was ten years old she played one of these classic sidekick characters jesse the only black babysitter in the baby sitters club. I did not grow up reading the baby sitters club books. I read every single one of those books. Jesse was a dancer who always related to her kids. She learned sign language for one of the kids. She babysat and taught dance. Moves and the film adaptation of the baby sitters club was totally formative for me growing up. Zelda definitely plays the sidekick the supporting role to a host of white girls but she also stole scenes left and right dropping like flies. She kinda had to that was what she was given to work with. Not just in the sitters club but in every role she dishes for. I would be bassey token friend but not necessarily get to read for the lead over and over again. Zelda would hit this wall. She knew her potential by casting directors saw her as the bouncy token friend it starts to wear on you as a kid because you have the power nation. You're working in an industry that can make anything happen. You got competence muppets. Cgi and all this stuff going on who still getting very consistent. Message that you're here to support and so okay Yeah the cameras going to be. Set up right here. You're gonna stand on the side. I'm not sure if you're gonna be in this shot. Whoa having mechanic realization was intense. This realization was extra intense for zelda. Because she knew it didn't have to be this way. She started her acting career in the leading role. Her very first film was spike. Lee's crooked where she starred as troy maybe other people with mommy and scream and yell at you can't do. It wasn't all inclusive set with women and people of color where she had the starring role in black and brown film.

"With me tonight like kukirya hughes every time. I always say something clever even playing ahead but it doesn't ever happens. I thought you were say. Hey listen so. I didn't want to use it. No we are here to talk. Well one we are here to celebrate two year anniversary that the show has been going on and we are and we are here to talk about since two years and i we should talk about a very special game so gonna be talking about the legend of zelda carina of time to hold up an our can't find one thousand nine hundred ninety okay and it's been a long time. We'll talk about that. I i don't know if. I play this game ninety eight but i know i've prided ninety nine. I've waited a lot. That's for sure. The three d. s. version came out in two thousand eleven. Even that feels like so long ago. Honestly the three a better game. That's what i plan the tiny. I never played through the aspiration. I will always be intendo sixty four loyalists Wrong with it. I played the game version of the sixty four. Just because sixty four emulation est not good. I mean there's no real difference between the gamecube or the same exact. This is compared prettier models. I wouldn't i wouldn't go that far like the spiritual. Stones are extra shiny in the gamecube version. Because they didn't. I mean link still look ugly. Nothing was really good luck in the if yes regime where they clean up the graphics. A lot. It's is pretty game prettier. Have you. I played three desperation before but for this i didn't want to pull it that into where it was at first sight is played on our isn't sure what i wanted to have both of the versions of their on gamecube. I could play. One of those are pretty good. And then i got the slingshot and thirty s version. Remember they had gyroscope. Amy in namibia. Never mind stuck with this. It's it's so convenient you fight. I have never seen this game a really dark game. Even though helana has other thoughts about that. I mean. I guess i just never really thought about it. 'cause like this game starts off you're an orphan to to start with which are finance. Your mom died saving you from.

"We're gonna. We're gonna i don't think we can last longer than the simpsons but maybe we can last longer than a true crime. Podcast guys at the bar lower. Get behind that. Maybe we have more memorable characters like his leg in forni gumbo. We'll get there but yes. Thank you everybody for listening. We have a special show for us because we have a special guest show We've listened to some of the music in the past. I know i have mentioned the album's in the past. So on the label game chops we have The the producer the musician of the album. Zelda and chill and most recently zelda and chill part two which is a lo fi. Sell the series. We have michael all the way from germany. Joining us on the show. Michael thank you for joining us for big show So yeah i love. How and for me. It's a fairly recent thing of seeing not just a lo fi hip hop or hip hop instrumentals becoming so popular on the internet and worldwide. But seeing a lot of a video game arrangements insi- within hip hop within the lo fi. Can you tell me a little bit about how you got interested in hip hop and then how that intersected with with zelda yeah. I got interested with hip Pretty early when there was five or six. I rap songs and thought i always loved the beats and stuff but when it was i think whether it was fourteen was when i started making own beads. I've always liked sorry. The i've always liked zelda games and games in general and soundtracks and think about two thousand and eight. When i started making music i made my first remixes but i didn't release them and I think two thousand seventeen when notify was a bit bigger. That was when i did it again. 'cause these were finally hippies got really fit to yoga music yes i feel i feel that and i'm not sure if this is the same for a lot of people that i feel like my musical tastes have suddenly become mainstreamed more popular so the instrumental music that i really enjoy suddenly. There's there's an audience audience for it. And say i can also say that people like me who weren't generally into that style of music when you cross sect it west v. Gm which. I am a fan of It has a way of getting you in the door to appreciate what you were missing out on before the now definitely before we get into some original game music some music that we really enjoy. I'm curious about some of your musical influences. You said you you listen to a lot of got interested in rap music at a younger age while we're some of the the early artists and songs that really got you interested. Well i think the biggest inspiration was abducted raped western east coast hip hop in the nineties. Yes and then. The eminem fifty cents and a lot of german rep. Oh yeah. I'm not familiar with a lot of german rap. Artists is are there any names that maybe we could take note of and explore Seo the is He also reps on these Boom bap beats yes. Yeah and kinetic also from my hometown. They think mostly inspired by now. We have a friend of our show who lives in the uk in britain and he also has a podcast of music. And do you know of the wu tang clan playstation game. So there's a fighting game but all of the characters are members of the wu tang clan and they did it and they wrote a soundtrack to the game. You might be interested. It's it's very instrumental. But there's a few there's a few vocal tracks cetera. Okay sounds cool. Hundred very quick the only game villain. No of his Def jam york. That's with a lot of weapons and stuff up when the kids out there. It's always so it kind of makes sense that they would fight each other. But at the same time i always imagined. The wu tang clan working together. You know is the main story mode is exactly that like pointing games. Do it where they'll start out with a they're just fighting because they're trying to figure out what's going on here eventually. Learn that the band is making them. Fight was something with thirty six yards. They had to fight their way through so elena. We chose specifically zelda music for today and sort of to celebrate yourself in chill albums and we ask for you to bring some music that maybe you really enjoyed or were inspired by.

"My name is chris. Joining today are two of my fellow co workers at nintendo of america chico from nintendo treehouse high chico. Hello and joe from the social media team hijo. Hey chris how's it going great so thanks for coming on the show you guys in. We're going to start with a game. That is coming out the same day that this episode is going to post on november twentieth. Which is horrible warriors age of calamity. Now i've just started playing this game but you're both experts so i'm really looking forward to talking to you about it but before we start digging into all the details chico. How would you describe this game to people who may have played a more traditional legend of zelda game but might not have played a higher warriors game before the high lawyers as you become huge very different because it is a warriors game instead of the traditional the legend of zelda series game. This one you are fighting against one this one thousand or so you know to horde of enemies coming at you. And it's more action oriented game la than exploration puzzle being. You'll see in traditional up daughter type games that's right. Yeah it's it's you're you're basically taking armies of classic villains from the legend breath of the wild Joe what's your experience been like with with. I guess just this game in general but then also the legend of zelda series are you a big legends all to fan and if so what was your impression coming into our warriors age of calamity. Yeah yeah so far for me as series is one of those kind of like you know. Mainstay prestige franchises for me. I've basically played every game in the series. It's very near and dear to my heart so for for this game in particular. I think the first time that i got to see it and we really got excited for it. I was pretty blown away by a lot of the stuff that we saw. Just the the closest to the legend of zelda breath of the wild having having more time in that world i think is is something that i really really want to experience again and especially with characters. They're the story in led to the legend of zelda. Breath of the wild is all talk through those memories. So in this game you really get to spend a lot of time with that. Cast of characters And you know my experience with the first how we'll warriors i actually really love that game I think that game is a little bit more of a celebration of the franchise whereas this is a. It's a it's a kind of curfew told crafted story set within the legend of zelda breath the wild so i think there's definitely a different approach there and i think that's something i really appreciate about this game. Yeah i agree with jill. Yeah i'm a big fan of warriors game. I did play the warriors game or three platform. I guess i am big. Fan of diligence delta bristled but when i heard about this new one coming out i was expecting more like there is higher warriors. Game celebration of the franchise love of different different characters. Coming from the different title from the series. But then when i saw i i literally screen when i when i heard this sound effect a music from the breast of the wild actually playing catalogue to look like the an and it was i. I was really excited to see this game. And it was. When i i played high warriors age of calamity. I was very surprised because it was way different from what i expected in a good way. Yeah i felt the same way and that was the thing you you mentioned it there chico. When i first started playing her warriors age of calamity. it was not just the visuals. Obviously the art style was the same from his breath. The wild which really took me back to that game but also all the little sound cues even the little fonts used in the news. When you look at the map it really felt like i was back in that world again and when i first started playing this game it had been a while since i've played zelda breath of the wild so it felt kind of like this really nice homecoming and i was more nostalgic than i realized for a game that i actually played a few years ago for the first time but at the same time hyrule warriors age of calamity is has obviously a whole different of game. Then legend assaulted breath of wild so it was nice. Mix of the familiar in the new and So so far. I haven't beaten the game like you guys yet. But i'm really enjoying feeling like i'm part of that world again getting more of that story and when i heard that it was you know took place one hundred years before the events of legends breath breath while that. Got me excited. Because i wanted more time with those characters and more time with that world because i always thought the world had such a rich kind of history to it so so i think you're right. It is a very different type of hara warriors game than the first time. We're warriors in that. It really does fit in specifically with legend has breath of a wild. Yeah when i first heard this one. It's going to be a warrior style game. I wasn't sure if it's going to be good fit. But then i thought about it and it is Before the great calamity takes over and take down the whole high jairo so there's going to be Thousands of monsters coming at you. So then i'm like i read is okay. This is the perfect type of game. Should be like warrior style. Gameplay and another thing. I was surprised when i play this game The delta bristled the wild there are cut scenes where you could see what happened. One hundred years ago in memory form in august slate but there's only a limited number of cousins to tell about the stories before the calamity happened but in this game you have laudable paternity to go through different type of seemed to learn about the story learn about the characters. It's just because of that. Just for that reason it motivated me to play more unlock more stories aces so i will be able to see and learn a different character stories. Yeah there's a lot of story in this game like it's really a surprising amount of had scenes. It's really cool to see a lot of those characters. Come back and like characters like or boza who had had a little bit of development in the wild but in this game you know there's just a lot of contact with those characters. I can get to see them. Interact with the other champions. Which is is really cool to see you get to see that. There's like a relationship between all of them especially with with zelda who is kind of like i would say the cornerstone of the story in this game and her character itself is kind of the main driving force between a lot of the characters and within the game so i think people really appreciate seeing that like kind of interplay between all the characters and how the story really develops some of the things is. It's in letting the birth of the wild delta. What's more somebody who's being protected by link right like the memories. In burst of the wild cut scenes she was. She was always like a behind him be protected helpless in a way. But in this one you'll be able to see her fighting against monsters not behind hiding behind link or in. But she's actually fighting. And then using the runes different actions. It's just nice to see her being a fighter. Instead of just being protected i think like what are the things. The plot points that was developed a little bit in legend of zelda breath of the wild. And i think you can see a little bit of in. The demo is elbows like kind of personal struggle with her father needing to To really a locker powers. And that's that's something that's really developed in this game. And i think the the plot is really compelling with her personal struggle. And you get to see like really what she's going through. And how it's affecting kerr so yeah. I think people are going to really. I think it'll be really interesting to see how people respond to her story and get a little bit more of that development so excited to see how people react to that. Yep yep that was an another moment when i I started playing this game where it immediately took me. back to. Legend breath of the wild was hearings. Speak and just hearing those voices again. And i'd maybe. I never even realized you know. Obviously zelda link certain characters who appear in in pretty much all of the the games in the series but But these iterations from of the characters from legends all too breath in the wild hold a special place in my heart so getting more time with them specifically is been a lot of fun so far and and i think you touched on. Something about the runes i. That's another thing..

Nintendos Game & Watch Super Mario is a massive hit of nostalgia

"While the buzzes around the next gen consoles launch. This week i want to talk about handheld those popular in the eighties. It's making a comeback game and watch super. Mario brothers roger chang and this is your daily charge with me is gaming expert and amateur or semi professional magician scottsd- on welcome scott totally amateur so I grew up with a few these game and watch handhelds but for some of our perhaps younger listeners. Explain what these things are. Yes game and watch came before the game boy. This was this was an intended. I four and a hand held games and they were these black and white. Lcd things that only played one game per device and they beeped. They had these static kind of like animation screens. That would just do only so many preset animations. And i love the heck out of these things when i am old so when i was in camp in the eighties. That was my handheld game. So i had a whole bunch of these that i would play and they get me through my summers. Yeah i remember my parents picking up a couple from one ethnic around hong kong like being a kid. I didn't really want to go out and see if they wanted to like. Read a book or play. Play this And i remember one where. I think i was catching bombs going back and forth Remember yeah there were pre rendered images and basically like as you've moved the control pad who would switch one image where you're like cashing bomb left catching the right. It was just. It was super simplistic. But i spent hours playing these things now. Nintendo is coming back. it's the same sort of hardware. It looks the same but obviously plays a little bit differently. Tell me a bit about the new game and watch the providers yes. I'm a total game in watching urge. All say nintendo's revisited game and watching the past with these little versions of those games on the d. s. in three d. s. And i have a compilation. On the game boy micro that i still play. Which is a toll throwback. I lead into that because if you've been following game and watch that's not what the this new one is. It does have one game and watch game called ball which was the first game and watch game. It's just as juggling character catching balls. It's pretty simple but the rest of it. They they put the whole super. Mario brothers and super-party brothers the laws levels on this little hand-held which are like the complete games with a color screen That you played a million times So that's really cool but that's not like the game and watch as we remember it. It's a whole new idea. And yeah so how how Beyond that is it. Just the the first game really like what. What exactly are you getting in this game. And watch him multiple. You mentioned those two games as anything else though. That's it you're getting getting mario brothers. Mario brothers the loss levels which is like japan japanese marbles to. That's been in compilations and you get those on the nintendo switch online service and this ball game and then that's it plus like this watch mode which is the time like these. These things always used to tell time but if you press that you get to see the animated time and you can just watch. Mario jump this time. It's cute but it's like just a total collector's item. Like you don't need that. It's like it's just and that's the entire package and you turn it on and you play it and it does that in. That's that's game and watch an h- how much would go for these fifty dollars so that's not cheap. How that is that is not cheap. That's a lot more than what we spent for these things. You could argue that. They're giving you a little bit more but it's not that much more now but it set up to be a total collector's item in nintendo has been doing this year and they're dipping their toes more into this with limited edition game a lot of people. Compare it to disney's vault. You know where they kind of released often put it away. The supermarket three classics is limited time game supermarket. Thirty five on the switch can only be played through march. This is apparently only being sold through march and the classic was was kind of a limited time thing too even though it hung around for a while. So that's the preface that this is a total collector's item thing. You don't need it. I do irrationally love it. But that's because i love game at If you're a game and watch nerd. This is the first game in watch. They've made in a long time. But it just made me wish. They had made this a real game in watch museum rather than it's like a document. Retro is what i said in the article you know like it. They stuck another richer experience into the richer experience that that wasn't originally part of it right so it wasn't it's not really an authentic retro experience. Just like it's but it's multiple retro experiences both physically in the actual game but they're just different so there's a bit of a contrast there there is although of course as a kid in the eighties. I would have killed the have this. This would have been an absolute miracle too because all those game and watch games. Were trying to make the games you played at the arcade like donkey kong but the versions they had were all like blimpy and like not the thing you go okay. It's like it's like the tiger electronics games. Like you know all those little. Lcd games were trying to make you think of the better experience. So the full. Super mario brothers on a little thing i would of loved but we also can get a lot more now. So that's cool i. It's just. It's a different concept. I will say that the feel of it like the red rubber buttons on this game and watch are totally the red rubber buttons that were on those game and watches way back like the feel of. It reminds me a of that little childhood device. That's important that idea of getting the feel of these things afford that nostalgia work but once to stall war off or maybe it's still going on for you but in terms of expensive you can take this stall out of the equation. Like what are you left with your left with a little thing. That please mario brothers. And you know these things already like saying like these things exist like you can play pacman or tetris. Or you know you. Stores are full of these little mini arcade devices. That you can you can get and so. This is not new. Sega has one but the game year. That's is in japan. The super tiny game gears that that play games In their all absurd. So what you do get is at least the way it feels and controls is really comfortable like it's actually a really nice little experience. Playing mario brothers for what it's worth like. It's not some of these. You never wanna play the game on that little tiny thing but i appreciate the ergonomics of it. And it's kind of like a little stress reliever but you know for fifty dollars. That's a lot. If it was twenty bucks you might say like okay. Totally i would. I would just get one. Keep on my desk. I think this is one of those things that for intended fan clearly and that's what nintendo is increasingly leaning into is dot for the nintendo fan. And i think that's exactly what this symbolizes in a year. Where nintendo doesn't have a new console. Yes good point via. This is part of their big mario. Thirty fifth anniversary right. Yeah it is and and so. They've been making a big deal that also like this year. We don't know what nintendo would have had in this calendar year. I don't think there would have been a new switch. Even even if there hadn't been krona virus in the beginning of the year intendo had had said that. But it like going back to new console thing when we have so many people excited about the playstation five and xbox series x and nintendo made a tremendous success story with animal crossing. There's kind of like a. What's the next chapter. Nintendo doesn't have it yet so there's a little bit of despite the incredible success selling the switch like their sales numbers. Keep keep being really high. It they're kind of treading water to like what's the next thing after that. They don't need have next thing but we're expecting. They might have new switch like a pro version next year. It at the four year mark. It seems like that would be kind of overdue and then the the scanwatch is more of a one often think this is something. That nintendo nintendo Tater released like a line of these retro. Fifty dollar handhelds. I think it would be a total intendo. Move and a shrewd wine. The like do a bunch of them because you know collector shoes. I think a lot of people kinda see the stuff in that territory where you have these things and much like the original game and watch. That's what they were like. Where they had different versions. That came out over the years. And maybe you got the one that had pinball maybe oil panic maybe you had some other special version and then if you missed the first one may be the next one i mean. It seems totally nintendo that they would make zelda would make metro wine and they would just keep going down the line but intendo also drops the ball on doing the next step that you think they would do on some things to put this thing on next and they don't so they're very hard to read with this stuff. I would expect that but I think i think they're also just testing the waters with like even put put the mario kart in that territory. While the that mario kart live home circuit is a very cool camera-equipped a are racing car. Another kind of collector's item. Thing nintendo done this for many years to be clear. But i think that they are really pushing into that now with the whole collectibles landscape

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity for Nintendo Switch review

"Hara warriors. Age of calamity is a demo out. Intendo switch which is free to download ahead of the launch on november the twentieth much more breath the wild and it's predecessor hyrule warriors nintendo of done a great job of marketing this one as a breath prequel and it's got fans hardtop and are really really look forward to the release. The visuals and mechanics of the game are very breath. The walled with curry tecmo bringing in the sheikha slight abilities like bombs ice magnetism the bio mechanics of horror. Warriors have been mixed in really well here with link and other party members feeling really powerful when you run into battle to mogens and the other enemies are flying in the absolute hundreds really really cold. Seen the game has been sapped as a prequel and as such age of calamity is set one hundred years before breath of the world and we saw games is of this battle in breath of the wild itself with the champions falling battle against calamity. Gannon the snippets. We saw wearing cut scenes and memories and age of calamity looks to finally fill in the blanks for us the various playable heroes in the game including link impo zelda and the champions themselves. I don't play tara warriors previously but the bow system is super fun. Actually i had a lot more fun than i thought. I was going to. If i self against waves of enemies in the hundreds much more than freshness standards zelda game battles take place in a math around haro with a at filled with friendly and enemy does to as pockets of enemies but there's also objectives marked on the map we have to either secure location or takeout big enemy or this some kind of objective in the demo. Batum with guardian. We have to enable these sleeping guards help. Impact and a mini time travelling guardian to there's a variety of attacks including a light attack has a heavy attack and various special attacks. Which also have a cool down as mentioned before you got access to these chic as lite which allows you to use bombs crisis as stacy's too so bombs are really good for destroying a bunch of enemies and also freeze enemies with stasis because smash enemies off into the distance which as as it was in breath awad age of calamity battles film and the characters. You play already different to his easy to switch between characters during batteries in the deep end so impo in particular is very powerful as she can make duplicates of 'self and seldom makes creative use of the sheiks like but she doesn't feel quite as powerful as the other two characters. I played infamy is the most fun definitely. Give her a try. I'm looking forward to playing as the champions in particular dirac so related to the narrative. The game there's a mini guardian. The can travel through time and he appears to be in. Jairo costs sometime in the future and hops into a wormhole to escape a big guardian. The narrative is super interesting as you pretty much the fate the champions link and zelda similar to star wars rogue one tragedy does a white the how we get there is going to be full of twists and turns at first. I wasn't really sure about this. Release not having played the other titles dynasty warriors or hira warriors. I wasn't ready tissue about this. Zelda spinoff but the fact that nintendo has given arguably the talk name to a third party says a lot which know downton. We'll be across much more than ever before and the great thing about the demo is you can jumping without having to make expensive commitment science clemency job in its hands command in november with loads of behaviors around it plus new consoles. But this is definitely something. Nintendo fans are gonna be checking out over the holiday season. So i'd say if you're on the fence pick up the demo and give it a try. I for one have been persuaded a can't wait to jump in come november the twentieth.

"Get excited. Choo Choo Train. ooh, you. Pay Pipe that leads us to the end of our news segment and for funds. As we thought, it'd be cool to just kind of wrap up with a couple of quick hit news items that happened to be all Nintendo related in. So, if you guys missed it earlier this week a drop for the Super Mario lying on black milk went live and we talked about this one they announced it and you're into. Fashion of the FEM variety I like the starter s let's they have a lot of stop you can check out, but they also announced the animal crossing Collab-, which is going to be happening. So this is Super Fun as well. So if you guys want to showcase your love for either animal crossing or Super Mario Brothers, you may want to check out the black milk line secure and there was also to more announcing Super Nintendo world is going to be happening in twenty twenty one. So this is an old trailer Super Nintendo world. Obviously, this is going. To be in Japan, there's one supposed to be happening universal studios in Orlando but because of the covid nineteen pandemic, it has been delayed worldwide. What they did today was confirmed that they're like come hell or high water. We're going to open in two thousand and twenty one, and they revealed some of the food items that you're going to be able to try when you go to Super Nintendo world. So let me show you think tool dress. Suggest I mean they sold that dress in a shop in their blackmail trout by so much stuff is capped already like. The the two things I got are already kept the presale. But. You can still or you can still order those things in select sizes. But the food goes I don't know those UK. Those are those are pancake sandwiches what What. So we're looking at. Ladies and gentlemen of some of the themed cafes and other sources they're going to be having some of the they're showcasing our these Mario and Luigi Pancake sandwiches in the pancakes are like tacos but filled with whipped cream. Are Their hats won as an m one as an L. One's read one's green who would have said and Mario doesn't want these photos to be bigger. I apologize everybody watching Mario's pancakes. Sandwich has strawberries and cream and it says who's come. That's a cap joke says Oak Dokey and they're some looking green fruit and cream I'm not sure what exactly is going on yeah I don't know what those fruits are. There's apple or lime I'm. A super mushroom drink and a tropical bottle and a mess moustached fruit creams soda because a little. Alcoholic? Be grateful was bring your own. To. Chat. Hopefully. It just looks really cute and the store is obviously look all Mario we on the inside, all the chairs, little toadstools and I now this is GonNa. Be My happy place. I'm ready. We're definitely going to do what's good games field trip to Super Nintendo World Orlando when it finally opened. Hundred percent. Rona. No likes he rona. And your the worst get out of here. Okay Only Rona would take a hint. All right. Our last piece of Nintendo news was this little news blurb that dropped this week about Nintendo treehouse spotlighting Jairo Warriors, age of calamity, and then a little bit more info about. Three Pittman three, the deluxe version, Jairo Warriors. So age of calamity is this an expansion it and actually get a chance to watch this this is the. Way tecmo warriors spin off. So it's like real warriors, but it's called age, of course, because it takes place one hundred years before breath of the wild. Yes. So what's GonNa be really interesting about this game it's GonNa show in deep dive into some of the characters and we're GonNa see like personal interactions and here a little bit more about their backstory. Narrative perspective. This is cool but the showcase today the Nintendo. treehouse showed her Bosa style fighting. Zelda showed link fighting a little bit young EMPA-. That is going to be hitting co rocks and the weapons won't break. They. Also, the weapons work in this game. And I showed a little bit about of the map in the weapon upgrades system and it actually looks really good. I mean I did not like the first Jairo warriors primarily because the multiplayer was really bad someone had a play on the way you gain pat and someone could play on. TV. was like the way they designed it why they did that I don't know Nintendo Intendo, but it's really fun and the game play it looks great and some of the places that they visited. To see loan ranch, you could see all the locations essentially from breath wild before the the fan. So most of these villages are intact. The buildings aren't all destroyed. You get to see some of Aksu Games like an ochre enough time Linlin ranch, for example, AC, the same buildings and the little sheds. If it looks good. It looks like all the kicking, ass. Zelda out here. Making her keep and look at that. So she is primarily her Sheikha Asleep abilities which every character has access to you. But hers are a little bit more epic like her bomb for example, is like A. Bomb that spits out many bombs and it's pretty global. Yeah. Yeah. I think this is going to be fun. This actually comes out November twentieth and pick me comes out October thirtieth. So these are two. I mean, I think this game's much bigger than pigment three personally. But yeah, and it's an awesome set up their sleeve, which is nice. It's interesting that they're choosing to focus on this game. Because I think a lot of people were hoping for an update on what's happening with breath of the wild to not to say that we need like a full game play reveal or anything like that. Clearly, this game isn't going to be happening until two thousand, twenty one at the earliest but it would have been nice to get like a teaser or something in conjunction with this Jairo. Warriors announcement, and this is a little bit of A. Guy When this game was announced. Feel like those were a month ago a few weeks ago. was they said, yeah. Sorry. We know. We know what you really want. Just please be patient you really really want. Yeah, they. Yeah but. We can't give out to you yet. The thing. Thanks bye. Yeah I. Think it'll be good. It'll be a little guitar over. It also face. This is an appetizer main course exactly at Obama's or Bros a kick ass you. She got a hack and slash the lightning, their little shield she's like mosquito. been and kill you. If you want to see the game play that we're referring to, of course, youtube dot com slash what's good games or you can go to the Nintendo YouTube account as well. But did you spend a lot of time with hydro warriors doesn't Feel like your style of game and please tell me if I'm inaccurate, you're not wrong. No I played like I said, a little bit of the I went back. When was on we you but the problem with you is this is kind of Game I. Think I could only played multiplayer because it's just more entertaining play someone but someone had a play on the you game had an some could play on the TV and so as you can imagine that didn't work very well Jason was playing on the way you gamepad because of course, he was and I had the Nice Big Shiny TV. His game, he knows his role absolutely his game play on the game pad was really laggy. It didn't look very good I mean it was the Game Pad Right? So I played it. It was fun. But the reason I'm more interested in this one is because of again, it's going expand on the story. Breath of the While we're GONNA get a deeper dive into characters like are both saw relationship she had with Zelda and Zelda's relationship with these folks and that's I. Think we're the the excitement comes from for me.

"Because. His one man like his his shows I just want to see him in anything. I would I would love to see him in a remake spun if they bring. A war. On but if they don't have him come back the violator and do that speech again, I might be a little bit. That's where I would say but kingdom hearts wouldn't put him in that at all that would be like I don't know. Cascading parts because I love that game you either way but link and Zelda. I'm now looking at lake who I would cast this link. I. Don't I don't have a specific person but I'd want him to be like Nordic or like you know I don't know something kind of different It would be cool to see a live action Zelda movie though, but it would be so hard. To like navigate that because like a it's like a comic book movie where you just have so much to go from the differences with comic book movies there's a lot of lanes and you can just stay in and realistically just do where like Zelda if they did like a link character early, 'cause all the story like. It would be so hard to like figure out like, okay. Are We know had to game and then Kinda like adapted so it made more sense till like a movie format because it doesn't really that much sense if you really think about it. So like so like a regular story and Much you couldn't even doing one movie I. You know what Zelda mini series would make more sense to me then Zelda movie. That's what I would say because a movie would just make it so. Hard to fit all the information in Suva Lord lower thing I I think. Yeah. But. Even then it's just so much to try to figure out what goes where and. How you because these like Lord of the Rings, the blueprint.

Age of Calamity Is a Hyrule Warriors Sequel and a Breath of the Wild Prequel

"And welcome to Nintendo voice ITN's Nintendo podcast. I'm your host Casey Freedom in this week I'm joined by Brian Tano. Hey, Lee. Back on that from games come. Hey what's up? Hairstyle. So here. I am also here I'm also here well, I got I got busted I was still working when the show started. So a lot of people will see what I look like when I'm typing emails. I. See. Her. But this week, we will be talking about higher warriors age of calamity, how we really feel about Super Mario Three D all-stars being limited release in ramifications behind that move and of course about how much it costs but I believe the obviously the biggest news this week I mean besides some other big news but we don't really care about that on the show is higher warriors age calamity. Is Coming on November twentieth. Your. Game. I mean in it comes out the day after Cyberpunk I'm not happy about that. Yeah that seems like a mistake. Yeah. So I will I will say that like this was this was a surprise for sure right like this is in a in a year full of things leaking constantly. This was pretty awesome surprised to find that there's essentially a prequel to breadth of the wild coming to Nintendo switch. If, I just defined as that than. Most excited man in the world but this is a game in from tecmo Koei. It is a a warrior style game akin to hurry warriors and viral. Euros is that was called. which is Great. If you wait is it let's get that. Right? Is it heroes the one on the phone or is heroes the one? I ever warriors is the one on on. Okay I see you out there. Firing them sub. Read it. Relax. We got it. Right. Thank you. Thank you for having my back on that one pair your. That's happening. You saw. WanNa drought. Running back if you wanna see pair absolutely roast Brian Yeah No, you totally left me at the dry there. You're know if I ever move on a call Atkins accent come over and helping move and not you because you were not close friends. Resent. It is really difficult to keep the names of the warriors franchise straight right they. They're all of these games are so different in name. Yet they're all part of the warriors. Franchise. Dynasty. High rule yet and Hans maybe the fire emblem game is called find bloom heroes. Okay No, it's warriors. Okay. Let's move on. Somebody offer discord call. I WanNa worry a warriors game. So I from what I've been seeing overall people have been accepting this overall positively I think if this was part of a bigger directs I, think people would have seen the beginning of this thought it was brought to the while to and then been kind of like. Hey. Can I don't know taken by surprise? It's not what they're expecting but because they were upfront, it was a standalone announcement. It's able to kind of shine on its own and not to be in the shadow of what people really really wrong because now it's just a cool bonus. I understand why they did it the way that they did, but I have to say that. Having our Numa start this statement by. We know that people have been waiting for news about breath of the wild for a very long time. It's so cruel what A. Roller coaster of emotions man that was like Oh. My God Oh, I see I see. I, for some reason I did not I was not expecting any news on Zelda and so when he appeared I'm like Cool Zelda pick cross or something right? Like he I instantly when I saw him I somehow instantly knew it was going wasn't going to be the the sequel but I thought they handled the announcement really well, you know they set the set the stage saying it's GonNa be a while until you hear more information about the next game, but here's something to you over and. You know like I played the last Jairo Warriors, fired it up the you know. Yesterday and played a bunch with my daughter and it's like these games are good. We gave them seven Slat think Casey you reviewed one right. So Jose reviewed the original gave it a seven I. reviewed the definitive edition on the switching. Gave it a seven point five for good I know that our scale doesn't. Follow that anymore. But if I had to either up down, I, would honestly probably bump it up to an eight down to a seven. I, think the amount of content in that game is astounding even though it is kind of repetitive I mean it's Musso game for Games, Dynasty Warriors. You're just fighting hordes of enemies, but with highrise finish edition you you got like thirty one characters and right off the bat you had sixteen to choose from, and then on top of that, the story is actually. Even, completely off the wall in bonkers ridiculous. It was still pretty There's a to it and there are a lot of really interesting. man I'm drawing a blank cut scenes that kind of gave more personality to allow the characters and they brought characters from all of the different Zelda game. So I really enjoyed it and on top of that, you got a regular legends. Zelda map to explore where you could. There's a lot to go read the rape. Yeah, it's an. replaying it I. I was struck by how much fun it is. It is fun to just kinda slash these hordes of enemies and like get bigger specials and you know switching between characters unlocking more. There is a there's a lack of the final tweak and finish that Zelda Games known for right like just even the way the camera fields is just super. Janki to me like by default he can tweak a lot in this game, which is great. Right? Like everything just is a little Jane he still. Including the whole like I've mentioned this before it sometimes feels like a Zelda imposture thing you look at the characters saying something is wrong with the way they. Look and all of that but as a silly. Game it works and then case you exactly right. It's like this game is all about volume. It's all about like hordes of enemies and it's all about hordes of rewards like when you finish level, it's almost like this like giant treasure chest monster comes forward and just barth items out it's just like you. Blew. You finish a level has just list after list of these things in you hitting the button to get through all of them right? which is completely different from Zelda game where it's like you find the hook shot and it's like this momentous occasion that's you over the next two hours. Like to me Zelda has always been about I think most people about you know exploration

Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity - Everything We Know

"Woke up this morning. It was very pleasantly surprised for say open by idea was open my eyes and I, looked at my phone and I saw a news notification for Hira Warriors Age of calamity and I was like Ooh, what is this and it's kind of the kind of thing like you have a whirlwind of emotions because you're like. Zelda and then you go higher warriors in your you know. Not to diminish warriors because I think the first game was like it was solid it wasn't like the game mainlines all the game. I think we're all excited for this one. I'm I'm actually more into by the looks of it. I had that same ranger emotions rose like, oh, man Zola Taira Warriors, and then I stopped and like you spent two thousand hours playing that game shut up. Shut up nerd a nerd. I have a question. John. Hira Warriors. What kind of game is it because I thought being compared to dynasty words I only played dynasty warriors four when I was in seventh grade. So. Is that comparable? Like what are you doing it? It's It's just like, sorry it's just like combat and like some environmental puzzle stuff but Matt. This this one's a little different because it's basically is dynasty warriors but instead of like Only, that there's also some Zelda elements built in where it's like, yeah, I gotta go solve this puzzle using the bombs or something like that. And then you might an army of people by yourself. Yeah, other other people from Celta are there to their plays IMP army, but they're not nearly as good as you. In the regular one yes. I would assume because this takes place one hundred years before breath of the wild. Yeah. It's it promises a robust story that's going to kind of give us some insight into what happened during that era of calamity as they call it where the great calamity, of calamity, Dan, how many times can intend to say calamity. Did I kinda love it but yeah send for one hundred years before the events of breath of the wild and it seems like we're going to either see or get to play as some of the characters that appear in breath of the wild to. Direct prequel to breath of the wild I. Guess So. That was the most intriguing part to me is that it seems like it's cannon prequel like they're using the same aesthetic and everything even like it was the kind of self rated breath the wild which I think it's just all the stuff that we heard about throughout the game about what happened one hundred years ago we're actually going to explore it like clone wars. which that's awesome for me because I'm someone who I I like this all the time line just because I enjoy trying to piece together and figure out where it's supposed to go and having a hundred years of history basically thrown at me Awesome. I. Also like it because I like. I like when a prequel. Predate something where you know that Shit's hit the fan and go. Wrong. So I it's what I really liked about dark crystal age of resistance is like. This going it's like A. Charlie, wiping out of of a creature but I kinda liked that we're gonNA see just is GonNa have I imagine a kind of bleak story end to set us up more wild. Following the. Good. You're. Going to say if it's following the history of the characters that we meet in Ghost form and breath of the wild. Sort of a giveaway.

"She died, you know, and she's been dead a really long time. And so I think that. I felt like I had the right to write what I did about her even if it upset my brothers or my father, which thankfully they have understood and I think it was emotional for them and has sort of brought us closer together. But I've been through this so many times with so many people, and I've struggled myself with drinking and not drinking because I know that it's such a thing for people that I love and I have such respect for the process of sobriety and what it actually means that I can't really imagine doing that to someone who was alive whether they were sober or not. What do you think zelda's gonna take a while this road and you've done a better? I have no idea. I've definitely exposed her very early person hood, and I've always known that there would be a line where I would have to stop. And I think already there are things that she said in conversations we've had with each other that I would not documents. She has the right to her own identity and private life. And that's part of the reason I didn't really want to worry about Josh. You're always writing that line when you're writing about yourself, because what is there to save? You're not also talking about the people that you love and how complicated they are. You know, all the people that I love are very complicated and part of the way that you understand complication is to like, make fun of them or disparage them, and it can be good for a joke or laugh. But like I don't want to actually hurt anyone. I'm only looking to explore complexity and to add something to the world that isn't there already. What do you think the line is like when Zelda Gwen? I think I think if approach, I think we're about there, yeah, she's going to be five. She's going to go to kindergarten. She has thoughts all the time that have nothing to do with me anymore. She says in a room some time. In the morning, I see your wake up and I don't know what she's thinking about. You know, she knows that I wrote this book and she was like, you know, of course you wrote a book about me and daddy. Okay..

"And by the end it becomes zelda and i'm okay with that i was okay with sony making their version of zelda in its starring credos because that's what it feels like to me so that's kind of interesting there are there are a couple of zelda's an apt comparison mostly i think so cells just weird maybe maybe it's like they're dark side yeah but they don't fighters clearly influenced by zelda vania ask yeah exactly that has that very metro vinnie of feel to towards the end yeah so my experience has got a war it's kind of interesting just as a series i loved one to death i thought it like acknowledged greek mythology and a cool way basically was a greek mythos and that it was hyper violent had moments of like human drama that we're just barely acceptable enough there was like betrayal and all this stuff two and three felt kind of gross to me because in one criticized motivation in a character arc in two and three he was a homicidal psychopath which is cool the games don't shy away from that but i thought it was weird that we were meant we're like playing as crato and there are moments in one where they make it very clear he's a bad man and then as the games go on they try to justify what he's doing but saying no the gods corrupt he's actually fighting for the people or whatever so i thought at least as far as the story is concerned i guess i thought those were good though 'cause like two and three i thought they went and went in he's a bad guy you're playing is the bad guy and i and i was like yeah finally we get the plays the villain like i never saw criticism good guy yeah i know i saw him as a tool to do game stuff the like you know like you play grant auto three you're like oh i'm like it doesn't like he gets shot at the beginning but then they're all like oh i'm going to steal an ambulance blood people with rockets like.

"I will be happy but than at other battlegrounds down one to move nearer up i i think the cup head should be in top three i think he should at the very least be higher sorry sorry i the idea of weaving right now you want to sacrifice zelda on the altar of like are overdue good i think zelda might be the best game i've ever played i i think zaire is like a really amazing tech demo in all the all your content they may need on all the combat when you get all you there london's they may white odd the entirety of the world is authored in that game that's okay yoyoed that you're right that's what if engine with dungeons hour bad as our baid me stop playing that game i don't think they're the strongest part of the game the thing is like the high into stuff that's like all attached to the main story in that game i just think it's sox but that they added this was part of the game i welcome their ability is not a good addition it is it is damning is one of the worst i also got used to it i did not mind that but i will end the math restored really every every home runs out at the so go out of power the mass disorder if it could break i do think there are some not the master or that's a little bit on but i do think there is some interesting challenge in like having a weapon like burnout on you in the middle of a fight the ruin you have to like manage that i think is like a cool challenge i think obeys the water is it is a value lists thing and that that is a pointless thing i am saying.

"Does it have a lot no zelda differently wins in like the most puzzle i think it's only be at all their eldest thing right it's going to be zelda i think zelda will probably win this category i hate i was asked worried origins assassins is amazing i think really know what i like i just i feel like i'm hoping here's what i'm hoping the mindset is is that people are like well we can't vote zoeller for everything so let's give it to assess know are you kidding me that's exactly what they are thinking no i think uncharted is not getting in a new votes here i know it was a it was a a nod but uncharted lost legacy is just like a cia uncharted four point one or whatever i just wanna sign of this this conversation got my heart rate up so high alert on your by got an alert on my fifth it guys like hey come down okay no sime or make a pig that's great assassins grade okay you think that's gonna win yet yeah okay i hope zelda now that her alexa it's could it be so hold her hat hey out how are you here with okay i also think zelda is his movement lincoln noises are you we will talk with later zelda does a lot of things great it could have done things a lot better but when you when you hold it up like yes it's like super grade on my car that's great but now like when you get its this happens every year there's a game that comes out early in the year and you're like oh my god and then you hold it up to everything else that came out that year and you're like woonoh like now we see the flaws yeah anyway best atrazine which is still amazing yes yeah focused on combat this category prey nieto destiny to cup head wolfhunts dine too.
