So maybe Kyler can bring in all of his buddies from when he was playing it as absolute peak at Oklahoma going forward, but it's not all about Arizona offensively. There's obviously some concerns about this group defensively. You had some key departures for guys that contribute quite a bit in the form of Chandler Jones, Jordan hicks and Jordan Phillips. We know how Arizona has prioritized drafting athletic linebackers, each of the past few seasons and Isaiah Simmons and zaven Collins. Neither at least at this point has really lived up to some of their advanced billing, but you know it takes a little bit longer for the lights to go on based on some of those traits and attributes. But at the same time, you do wonder with this Arizona Cardinals team, no Chandler Jones, are they able to replace that level of sac production? JJ watt is great when he's actually on the field and healthy, but it feels like a lot of the burden falls primarily on Marcus golden and you wonder where some of these difference makers are for Arizona stop unit if the offense isn't able to click on all cylinders, especially without Deandre Hopkins the first 6 weeks. When it comes to the defensive side of the ball, I think we have a lot of respect for Vance Joseph, just as a defensive mind. Probably not going to be a good head coach. I don't know if someone gives them a second twirl there, but he does a very good job mixing up coverages last year you look, I believe Vance got way more out of the Cardinals defense than we projected. Arizona finished 6th and schedule adjusted defensive efficiency against the top ten schedule of offense. All while having the 7 most injured defense. Damn good job there. There's question marks again this year. Like Arizona looks a little soft up the middle on the interior. It was good seeing Richard Lawrence finished last season strong, graded out really well the final 5 games at nose tackle, but fatu has been a liability a couple of weeks ago the Cardinals went out and they signed Antoine Woods and Christian Ringo to kind of shore up that interior tackle spot. There's been some talks of kicking the tires on Sue or linville Joseph. Let's say I would think that makes sense if you're trying to actually be a contender in the NFC. You mentioned letting Chandler Jones leave. I think he's an all world pass rusher. He's a Hall of Famer in my mind. I don't know if he gets that level of respect from a lot of people that aren't in the football community. Obviously I think that's a decent loss, but you have guys like Marcus gold and then Devin canard and Dennis gardeck that have shown potential and lesser roles in limited snaps. You mentioned Marcus gold. The third best cardinals defender last season he recorded a pressure or run stop in 11% of snaps. You have Devin canard, had a 10% pressure rate on pass rush snaps. Guard X dealt with some injuries only played a 183 pass rush snaps the last two seasons, but as a 17% pressure rate on those snaps. Cardinals also drafted two edge rushers Cameron Thomas and Maya Sanders from Cincinnati with the first two guys at the top hundred picks in April's draft. Of these 5 guys though. Somebody needs to step up, right? JJ watt has to stay healthy. I think he's still got a lot of juice. If you look prior to the injury, what was 5th among interior defensive linemen with an 18% pass rush win rate. But the cardinals need want to stay healthy and then a couple of those other defensive ends I mentioned to kind of fill the void of Chandler Jones. All in all, like Arizona finished 27th in team pressure slightly above average in team pass rush win rate. So I don't know what that looks like this year without Chandler Jones. Those three guys are just vital to stepping up on the edge. The linebacker room. This might be the most interesting in the entire league because the athleticism in the traits that Isaiah Simmons and zevi and Collins have are through the roof. You just wonder when the talent and potential gets realized. Simmons hasn't graded out positive and two seasons. His game grade declined in year two. 95 NFL linebackers played at least 250 snaps last season. Simon's graded out 62nd. And for a guy that athletic and fluid that can pass as a safety. He ranked 61st among linebackers and yards allowed per coverage snap. Vance Joseph didn't trust zaevion Collins as a rookie. We saw that. He only played 20% of snaps. Eventually hicks came in and replaced him. On those snaps though, saving Collins recorded a run stop or a pressure just 4% of the time. Now, if Simmons and Collins can get it figured out, the cardinal's defense has far less questions. But reading the tea leaves here. The cardinal signed Nick vigil as an insurance policy. Vance Joseph likes how savvy and buttoned up neck is. Four weeks ago, Vance put the green dot on safety jaylen Thompson.

I four on the road but i can only i can only get them the seven and ten have to inform the division. I had them losing their. It's four games at tennessee versus minnesota. All right at jacksonville. They'll be favored. I have them losing and at the rams then they wanna game maybe go to cleveland. It seems tougher for the cardinals and everyone else. "Just i guys one a one b at the same spot. Yeah i mean. We talked about the fourteen starters on both sides of the ball. Maybe even more than that and guys who it doesn't one will be the first player out there on the first nap of the game will technically be the starter. But they're they're both gonna play the same amount and play starter snaps because that's the competition. They've read in the depth that they've they've created their. So yeah these young guys their second teamers or or third teams that are hoping to be second teamers but they really have kind of a long way to go before their trusted to get on the field. That's what they're trying to do out there. Especially when you know. Fixing the coaches are grinding. The whole team thirty minutes. You're with me the beginning of july down in the basement. The dungeon of the lenders center for squat fast we marvelled at the size and the strength and the potential of this freshman class coming in for twenty twenty one. But it's funny. You look at those guys in the weight room and you marvel but then you get out onto the field and you. You're quickly reminded. They got a lot of stairs to climb on the ladder. Even though they passed the look test and they look better than freshman of ever looked that entered the cincinnati program. They still a lot of these guys have a long way to go before they cracked that one. A one b type situation. Yeah i mean. "I like jesse. James davis from washington. I like him at number two. This is where it gets. Tricky trying to come up with the guys after linebacker. Because if you're going to get a lot of tackles you got a great shot at winning four. The last five have been ohio state players defense a rookie year. That's not going to be this year. We're going to have an ohio state window but jalen phillips quitting pay zaven collins. These are some of the guys that i'm looking at Next up because if you can get sacks you can win this award the question is can pay or jalen phillips get enough sacks because usually you gotta get up around the eight or nine sack sack. Range can either one of those guys. Bucky get to that magic nine or even ten sack range where they could challenge trevor lawrence alike witty pay. I don't know if he's polished enough to get there. But what i like about him is he's going to get one on all day in debt met Loose in chris balloting. What they talk about in the about hustling in playing hard and doing all those things he's built to be as he is perfect for what they do. And i know everyone is cast in doom and gloom on the coast right now because carson wentz There's a report that just came out about you. Nelson quinn nelson potentially having to sit up. This defense can still lead the way in. So they're gonna have to play a high level. But i think i think potentially they can get it done. Yeah i do too. And i think he's going to be fun to watch two guys that. I love a lot of patrick ser tan. Jc horn. But they did not have a lot of interception production in college in one thing. That's one thing that's been true when i looked at the statistics over the years. Marcus peters in marshall lattimore the only two cornerbacks to win the award since nineteen ninety nine nineteen ninety nine only two corners and both of them had five or more interceptions as a rookie. So when i apply that filter that You know that statistic that trend.

"The football team. They have ryan fitzpatrick. They're likely gonna target a quarterback in the draft. Eventually who knows maybe make a run at aaron rodgers after next season. Although i see that as being unlikely but you team up saving howard kendall fuller. I think that's fantastic. Fantastic defense and they really would. Just be unstoppable. You couldn't you couldn't. It'd be tough to move the ball on those guys. Now the seahawks. They've been a real need for lockdown corner. You pair him in a secondary with jamal adams and that very intriguing so they should be calling miami and seeing. What kind of deals they're offering up arizona as well because they need a number one corner after. Patrick peterson is gone. And then arizona's intriguing to me because patrick peterson's gone. He's definitely out of his prime. Still cornerback that's going to be starting the nfl for the next few years as he is going to this year with minnesota. But he's not that true number-one lockdown corner that xavien howard is where you can just say we can week out. Put that guy on your best receiver in. You're you're falling in the whole game. We trust you to do that. So arizona really needs that kind of position filled. And it's intriguing because you have that you've incredible secondary of Buddha baker and then you also have to really intriguing middle linebackers in zaven collins the rookie just drafted as simmons. I mean those two for their size. Some that'd be the one of the be one of the fastest linebacking duos in the league key if they can stay healthy and stay together. I'm really excited about isaiah simmons but if david collins can be that first round talent that he's made out to be that'd be huge for the cardinals defense and you're looking at a really lethal unit. If you add savvy and howard to that mix all opposite of murray gender hopkins and those weapons on the offensive side of the ball the falcons and the saints. There's those are two other really good teams to look out for for this trade. I mean the falcons have been unable to slow teams down in through the air and the saints could really kind of solidify that defense with marshon. Lattimore. marcus williams. You can kind of make a decision on those two guys and decide which one you wanna keep. And then keep seven howard. Obviously the saints salary. Cap session is a very fluid thing and they need to move money around but you had lattimore howard on the same team. That's that's it's gonna be very tough to pass on those guys so those are some teams. I like to make a trade for david. Howard overall. I don't like the fact that this is still going on the nfl players or teams not honoring players. That do what they're told to do. And then way more and by in terms of just way over exceeding your expectations. I think that should be rewarded in the nfl. And i have no problem with a player. Requesting trade from their team in this scenario because league xavier howard said it does not seem like the dolphins are operating in dealing with him in good faith. "Will i guess paper over the cracks elsewhere in the defense because outside of the inside linebacker concerns you have a in terms of a lack of experience in greenlandic green. And maybe not street smart enough to deal with that part of an opposing offense. What about the secondary in particular corner depth because this is something we know increasingly significant in the nfl. Not just having a decent tag team corner but a decent collection of corners when innings of nickel a lot. And maybe more is that. The weakest link this arizona roster. I think it's a great question. I don't think it's the weakest link of the entire roster it's among the three weakest titensor weakest link right now right. I think cornerback is going to be fascinating years. Why you malcolm butler one. Year deal experience well-known veteran do his job. You'll be very good. You have byron. Were with the carnage draft in second round a couple years ago. An inside guy. But then what do you do that other outside position. You know you have robert. Alford was back on on a one year deal after getting cut last year but the guy was saying before. I thought they were gonna walk away with Justin Fields. I am more than fine that they ended up getting Mack Jones last night. I knew he was going to go in the first round the linebacker out of Tulsa. Would have never predicted that he would have gone with the 16th pick. They took him and then a few years back, my buddy from Temple Assan Reddick. And I thought that Sam was gonna be a first round pick and everything's gonna go 13th overall to the Arizona Cardinals. "Just gonna write it in now. Sounds great gerry. I'm falling into the typical trap of like every fan on mock draft night. Where like there's some really good players that are left here and you know. And i'm just like god. I can't believe all these players are left but like the only reason that we all think they're good players. Well i guess we do Call people and talk to people. But it's like the idea that like they're on all these big boards and we just haven't drafted them yet but. I think it's cool that we're not doing that. We're not following the The norm you know we're shaking things up a little bit. Some very excited about we. Don't go ahead. Gary i was just say just a quick reminder also not allowed to trade so we can't really change this up to have someone jumping up and getting I dunno zaven collins or a area's tony or something like that anyway. Yeah it's also a weird year and that it really does feel like without the combine. There's just like a much greater lack of anchor points for what teams do or consensus building on players. Like i'm sure. Those conversations go on around the league with scouts out on the road. But you are missing that kind of central convention hub where you get a sense for what different people think about different prospects. We are at the last pick of the first round. Of course we have four teams. Were still going to address here. Because they don't have first round picks but they're still teams and they still deserve our love and they deserve to have a say what they've done wrong with the rosters and what they need now We're at the bucks at thirty two. Who they. They won the super bowl in february. If you didn't see that if you're looking at the roster. I don't know what you'd necessarily necessarily say is a weakness on this roster but they're certainly there advanced in a in a lot of spots and that includes quarterback so you do wonder if they you know if they love a davis mills kyle. Trask Kellyn monotype do they. Do they take it here because then you You take him with the first round. Pick and then you get the fifth round option on them and or do they basically just fortify another spot on the roster here. Yeah it's rare to see a super bowl champion. Return twenty two starters so it is kind of a luxury. Pick to build depth in the future or potentially add. Something you know running back. I kind of think is an option here in connor and i talked about this week's podcast last week. It sort of the super bowl champion memorial like running back pick like hey roster so good we're just gonna take a running back but i do think that is an option here but you know.
