"Service. This is the art seller. And I'm Niki Beattie, director writer, producer. Director of photography, Zack Snyder. Did I miss out any definitions? They're rich. He does everything. Yeah. He's famous for Justice League Batman versus Superman Dawn of Justice, Man of Steel and 300 while he's back with another zombie movie 17 years after his debut feature Dawn of the Dead Army of the Dead Sea's Dave Batista. Heading up a group of mercenaries as they attempt a Las Vegas casino vault heist walls. Thousands of zombies swarm around the building, as well as the ordinary, mindless flesh eaters known as Sham blurs. Army of the Dead also features Alphas who can actually infect animals and give them a sense of intelligence leading to the terrifying creation of a zombie tiger called Valentine. The BBC's Ali Plum asked Zack Snyder if he felt that he might have bitten off more than he could chew with the zombie Tiger. You know what? It was funny because it's one of those things. You kind of just go. Oh, yeah. Then there'll be a zombie tiger, right? Like you just say it and it sounds everyone's like, Yeah, that's great. Okay, we'll have a zombie tiger. And then, like you get to the day And you're like, Okay, So what was the idea? How are we going to do that Zombie Tiger? What? What does anybody have a we and we figured that we hire time. What are we? What are we doing? And yeah, exactly. And so, you know, Marcus, my visual effects supervisor here gonna cut out of kind of a tiger, and it was honest. And you know it kind of carried it, You know for the actors. And I was like, Okay, that's good, not impose. If you notice the actors are really confident with when they're looking at the tiger. They look they look unintimidated. Um, which worked out because I think we had a real tire there. They would have been a little a little bit more, Um, nervous. Yeah, exactly. So it made him look much tougher, I think than, uh, And their actual reaction would have been. Could you do me a favor? Imagine you've never really seen many zombie movies. What would be your initial Where you've got to start here now. Obviously, you've got dawn of the dead maybe one or two of them. What springs to mind for you? Yeah, I would say if you're going to start, you know, you know, night of living Dad is probably where you would start because it's kind of start. Uh, Ramirez. Donna, the dad is a great place. I'm a fan of Shaun of the dead. I think that's a great place to go just to understand the cultural significance of zombies because I think that that movie really friends Zombie in a pub culture, the phenomenon of zombies within pop culture. I think it's an important thing to understand where it is in the zeitgeist. Because it is even if you don't think you know about zombies, you actually do, um, you know, because you've just been exposed to more zombies that you realize, And I think that that's kind of cool. That's the context, you know, and in reality when I was playing with the idea of making this movie Lot of the trumps. A lot of the fun of the movie to me was just really the deconstruction of the tropes. That went into making movies like Escape from New York or original 28, or Aliens, Like all those movies, um combined. I loved the idea that we have a language and we don't even know we have that language and that's that's fun. Zack Snyder, my guests on Today's Arts our our film critic Rich Kline and artists Layla Bavaria. Rich. What did you make of the Army of the dead? A film that I will not see. I don't think so. It's um It's very well made as you'd expect, and it's done on this massive scale. It's way too long. It's 2.5 hours long, which is just too long for a zombie movie. And because it's even as a fan of things like this. I'm not a particular fan of zombie movies. I don't mind them if they're good movies, you know, and there's a lot of really good movies that are based around the undead, which is fine, but I don't go to them because they're about zombies. I go because they're good movies. This one has some amazing elements in it. And I love the way that he's created These kind of sentient zombies. Who are you know who are in control of their lives? They're managing crowds of people that there's the leader of the Vegas. Group of Zombies is kind of the king of the zombies, and he's got a wife and who's pregnant with the zombie baby. So so you've got these kind of things that are, you know, I've never seen anything like that. It's quite fun, and there's a lot of twists and turns in the story and But it's just kind of, you know, it's a It's just too long. And it's relentless. Okay, but I it was all right. All right. All right, Leyla are you in any way a fan of zombie movies or TV shows? Seriously. Yeah, seriously, seriously, seriously. I'm a sculptor, A strong, strong soul. But I think continued. When it gets to that is there I wouldn't see it. Wouldn't sit five minutes, so two minutes watching other people eating other people. Layla, I've got a question, though it does Uganda have a tradition of telling stories about the undead. The undead. Those will be I think they do. And there's a lot of mills around the undead. So did you grow up with with any particular stories or any particular thing that you were made to feel afraid of? A lot of things because they kind of want to. We grew up, fearing mostly the elders, so they attract a lot of things to the olders. Okay? They attach a lot of things to people to things that are respected in the family. Let's assume the gravy. It You can't just go and play around it right? There's a lot of things attached to the memories of the dead so that things that the dead loved so you can just grow up not going in a certain call of the house because there is a bug close. Of your great grandparents. There is a spear. There is a hole. There is a Uh, basket, So there's a lot of things attached to that right. And did you, Layla identify with Zack Snyder talking about making the tiger in the sense that have you ever been in that situation where You've had a big idea, and then you actually had to follow through. But the practicalities of making it happen have been really hard. I think yes, as an artist. Yes. I was talking with my professor and I'm like when I was seeing the script of the work that I've done that is will be showed in London. I feel like those are small works. I feel like those are babies that what is in my head is beyond that. I was telling that if I had an opportunity, this is what I want to create. I want to create something very voids. It's in there. One. That's interesting, because, um, and obviously we're going to talk about your work in more detail in the second half of the show, but And what you've got in the exhibition in London are the biggest things you've made so far, aren't they? Yes, but you want them to be bigger? I don't know. Maybe I become becoming so ambitious of greedy. I'm calling myself ready. I feel like the small Factor Zombies firm Moment, wretch! Can you tell us what that actually What does the zombie mean in society? Because do zombie films Com and resonate with the people at certain times in our history? I'm not sure what they resonate. They kind of tap into that fear. You know, like Layla was saying of the dead of of your past of your the people who have gone before you what would happen if they came back? And they, you know And they had a different motivation now, and it taps into all those fears. I what I like about zombie movies, The ones that I like, are the ones that play with the genre. Thank you both so much. Mm hmm. You're with the BBC World Service..

"Is chick truck really social media app. This says got me thinking or is it a marketplace and also got a million bucks like kylie. I have so many questions here. So i reached out to influence her manager. Zack fitch and micro influencers matt warren egg to get some answers matt zach. Welcome to many rehab a thank you so much for having it. We love your show. Usually Dwight's involved in something like that happen. That's the one he still has a little bit of propensity, uh, to commit the files. I'm a little surprised comes Joel Embiid back on the floor. Is Tutu Atwell Too Small to Succeed in the NFL? - burst 04
"Is thereby do like the fact that kyle amaury stole from the ball but now we are going to hop into a guy that went fifteen picks earlier in nfl draft. A guy that. I absolutely love allied larger more. He felt a second pick of the second round. And i am adjust fan. So i hope i'm not too biased here by do absolutely love elijah more because you look at the offense there. The new york has in place and the did geico davis and they do have them. Zal dumbbell mims there too and jamison crowder and you may think while there's a lot of receivers here but fact of the matter is the jets spent high draft capital. Two goping get larger more. If they're picking him with the thirty fourth pick of the nfl draft when they have all these other holes on the roster. We're talking edge quarterback you can make the case that they probably should have picked a player that was an edge or cornerback but they went ahead and they pick the larger more probably because they had a first round great on him and viewed him as one of the top receivers in this class. And if they didn't think that he could he could become a number one number two receiver. The offense and zack wilson. They probably wouldn't have bothered. They're in picking eligible more. So i think that you have all these. Ribisi were twos vibrancy. Threes in newark. Don't have a true alpha by receiver one in york and you saw gems on men's last year yes. He had injuries throughout the season. So we didn't really see enough from him but clearly the jets haven't don't believe him enough to be born receiver because they drafted elijah more. And when you're looking at college football last season devante. Smith had a great season but a lot of people are not talking about elijah more enough and i believe elijah moore had the second most receiving yards in college football last season in a shortened season. So this is a guy you can make the case for is a very very good receiver and it was. It was definitely disappointing for him. To see 'em fall out of the first round. But i absolutely love this landing spot with zach wilson in leiden. More both being rookies. I think the chemistry is going to develop an plus alleged. moore's blazing fast receiver. He can like a four three forty and this is the guy. That's an impressive rat runner to me to really has a little bit of it all. He may not be the biggest receiver the biggest taller receiver. But i think that he s potential to be a slot receiver a coup number for the jets in years to come so i am all about allied more this year and going forward i think there may even be better than rashad. Bateman and may be the third or fourth fest receiver in this class. Well i just wanna stay for the viewers. You know anybody. That's been listening to us. Knows that you're not just being a homer on him because you were higher than just about everybody in. The industry like the entire draft process before the draft. So i know it's not just because he landed at the jets because i would call you crazy. It was just for that reason. But you know i think you make interesting cases you know it you also knowing you. You're not a very high. You weren't high on the corey davis signing. I don't think that you're surely how on mims of abbas really really Into mems last year Going the draft process. I did not end up with him on any teams because his a draft dot com just started skyrocketing and he the point where i was taking pittman over them. Still then you. I wasn't getting him. On the turnaround you know because i also claypool and gibson ranked ahead of them but Like mims and i thought he was actually a really really interesting prospect. So at night we're willing to give on him after He's got that alphabet. I'm not willing to give up on him after a year. That a complete dumpster fire in new york last year. You know they have a completely new offense. I corey davis kinda showed that he could be the number one wide receiver. Antonio brown was hurt. Leisure you know most of those. Those guys actually kind of started splitting targets down the stretch about pretty pretty evenly. So i do. Think that Corey davis they paid him. I think they're going to at least attempt to get him. The number one spot and i do think mims profiles really well and the outside as well Us why they went out and got him with that pick. What corey davis and mims strengths are like down the field jump ball situations whereas i think Allies more profiles more is like underneath guy that can can really thrive if he gets volume. I just wonder how much volume is going to be there. If they're not running a dominant amount of sets of three watersheds. Because i do think that the other two receivers with their bodies and big catch races will Out snap him on the outside while it's interesting that you're high on Corey davis. And i know i've said before the not hot high in corey davis so i think that's another reason as to why i'm higher on a lighter more. I'm just not buying the fact. That corey davis succeeds in new york. Two years ago not last year but if we look back two years ago and a lot of people probably have wiped out from their mind. But i have not wiped that season from my mind because i was big. Encore dave's heading attest season and he completely let me down lake completely. Let me down. I'm not even sure. I'm thinking was probably healthy the entire season and i'm not even sure if he finished as top fifty receiver in the league and so fast forward a year and had a very successful year with the titans. I'm not knocking him. But here's a guy who was picked with the seventh or east kick in his draft and he was supposed to be the number one receiver for titans and we never really saw that work out for the titans. And i think they declined his fifth year option. So there's a reason why the titans aren't holding onto corey davis and i think unfortunately core gape is a receiver who can be great here and there like a devante parker. But he's not consistent enough. He's not a true number one receiver. You gotta in a way force in targets from the be successful. And i think the jets are just gonna realize the gecko that our number one receivers probably larger more in a number two receivers probably summons so. I'm not scared about corey. Davis getting targets. People were saying the same thing last season about shod paramount and how he was going to have a huge role in that new york offense and what happened in bre shot parent. Who by the way. I was extremely on extremely law. Shot payment last year. What happened to be shot. He did nothing for that offense. So i think just because the jets went after core gave us that doesn't mean that he's going to automatically demand targets. It's zach. wilson's offense now. I think zack. Wilson is going to gravitate Skies like elijah. More over corey davis and a jamison crowder dems. I think the alleged moore will end up being his normal receiver. And i think that the ceiling for more is very high to it. Might it might not happen with a larger more by think by the end of the season we're going to really realize how good of a player that allies are more is. Yeah so

And of course, if you don't know what army of the dead bodies from directors that Snyder you know, he gave his Justice League and Superman movies. This is a group of Gangsters who are going to steal $200 million from a bank vault located underneath the Las Vegas Strip. But the only problem is the Army of the undead Zombies I've taken over Las Vegas and the U. S military has quarantined off Vegas. They're going to nuke my course city, So we have 24 hours to get in there, Get the money and get out. So I've seen it. It's fantastic. This is my type of movie. I got the director and his wife and also some new cast members on my YouTube channel at new interviews on there for Army of the Dead s O. If you like that kind of thing, it's awesome. Jeff calls it the feel good movie of the year.
The Army of the Dead Invades Netflix
"My friend. It is snyder's knob. Sorry not just. I teased everybody there. But zack ciders. Army of the dead is coming up this weekend on net flicks. I got a chance to watch the first fifteen minutes of it out on youtube and so far so good within. I know the reviews are okay but basically this is zack. Stars return to the zombie universe. His time spent in the dc universe which he may never go back to. but that's another story in itself. But zack snyder is mac. With the army of the dead starring date by teesta and a lot of other great cast members as well which name off here in a little bit but your thoughts on watching this movie eat is a spiritual successor to his dawn of the dead movie that he made in the early two thousands but it's not a direct sequel and it's still something a little bit different. It's like a heist film. Based in las vegas where they want to go ahead and steal. I think it's two hundred million dollars if i'm not mistaken out of a fault. One of the casinos in las vegas. Which where i'm at. But las vegas happens to be a controlled area where it's all walled off. Because of some zombies in fact the whole city is now infested islamise impact. The whole city is operatives. So i should be be right now because i'm in vegas but be that as it. May your thoughts my friend on watching army the debt this weekend. I know you said you and jamie are going to check it out. But your thoughts. On zack snyder. Returning to this universe. After his time spent with warner brothers ad dc

And i don't know This island has some of the most beautiful places he had heard lindsey. That's cool the other thing i've noticed is that many of the letters are written by people who have names that span all genders suspending to say that. "So that has that happened doing comic book guy that was the it comes to directors when if the best episodes ever see your favorite. You said that. I think he's the funniest i think i find him the funniest. And what did you think. I was like has happened often. Lately on the show that i had a certain preconceived idea of a guest. Or i heard them. Because i didn't i'd never really heard him say either. Had i so i was under. I was under the impression that he may have come across as being a little difficult to talk full of himself. I'm directors and be sure. I mentioned you. Both things would have been more bombastic and arrogant and he. Then he was. Yeah like really cocky. Maybe assuming no just because but he wasn't at all. He was just so down to earth and accessible. I did. I knew so little about zack. Just right that might be different. Not even difficult just like not that accessible. He's he was so easy. Autry like i s. I was surprised for example that he was so candid about talking about his start. And i came up and his family. I thought he'd be more like let's talk about the movie. I'm here. I know kind of guy and he wasn't so open and funny and accessible to the point where he even said. I often don't know when i'm like. I rely on other people to help me make the best thing and i believed him when he said that i feel like you hit it off with him pretty well and obviously it would be amazing if he wanted to put you in a movie someday or if you wanted to be in one of our movies that it'd be great to but what if he let you and me. Maybe how shadow has a great. I just saw around. We would pick up so it'll be like film school mike. We could shadows to. Yeah we stay out of people's way little very apologetic..

That is the one with the tennessee williams with doing streetcar margin during the version of production of streetcar. In the end he ripped stella stella new rip shirt off like. It's such a brilliant choice to make that guy ripped undercover good dogs or cats dogs we had dogs are. I do love cats. I used to have a cat call picasso and he used to attack me all the time i loved it and then our kids had a french teacher and she stole it from me. So what yeah. It's a long story. But oh shit i wish we had more targeted. She watched it one time. When i went out of town. She never gets cave. Picasso beth back. Nobody like cool. That's very encore. Maybe she's listening Maybe picasso's beatles stones the rolling stones if you had to choose elfish okay. Yeah for yeah you. You've seen them in concert. I've never seen him. I need i really need to. I think i may tour one more time chance. I'm sure they will. I would imagine. I don't i can't don't they just won't they always to. I thought i thought it was you know in perpetuity that they would be touring. But i think that we're getting close to a point where that's why you gotta see it soon. I would love to as well supposed tour last summer and then covid happened. Oh that sounds right. Yeah i think anyway. Because i want my daughter who is ten because i cared like if she saw the stones alive the insane like when she was my age and being able to say. Oh yeah. I saw the rolling stone totally. Yeah by the the span of. I know unbelievably crazy. Yeah even your father. I would imagine could have seen them live i. Yeah yeah yeah. I would. I mean when was there. I'm i was doing all these like really cool kind of buzz and tv buzz clips you runaway train. Yeah i know. I did do a runaway train. I said somebody to shove. That was the one i did which was on the thing. I love runaway train. I wanna be. Yeah sorry brought it up now. It's okay it hurts a little bit of time. It's still raw. It's so you must have been young. Zack you must have been like. I was like literally like i graduated from college. Like oh my god and and you're known. I know a lot of people not to reduce you to this but one of the styles that you really helped popularize and made yours. It's like a signature styles that slow that great. Slow motion stuff you doing that. Where did that come from that kind of style. That that We now associated with you. I think it came frankly from my cannon ten fourteen xl ls super eight movie camera. I was gonna guess that. Sorry another name as yeah anyway. The camera it's a cannon camera and on the side of it a slow motion button so you can set it in slow motion or you can push the button and it actually ramps to slow motion your finger off. It goes back to normal speed again. That's cool that's a feature. I don't know if anyone used it for anything except for me when i would fill the fight scenes between my neighbors in the backyard i caused the. Oh my god guide. That's cool And do you think that often comes up on. The show is how important it is to talk to somebody somebody outside your personal relationships about your personal really. It doesn't have to be too. You know because you talked to a lot of people in the no no. That's not what i mean. Yeah it's about Actually did talk to a stranger. Stranger was licensed and is able to actually help with your problems. A really easy affordable out. Great way to do that is talk. Space the number one online therapy platform that has thousands of licensed therapists unlike me..

"Yeah and that said about halfway through the movie. Let's i just do what you want now. They can't fire you. You should have by point is only studio asked me about like where all those slicks super slick shots from no. Yeah yeah well this. Maybe this kind of feels more like this. You know what we're doing. It's a little more genre. That was so that the visual style matched the sort of contact. You like okay. Well we'll wait and see does for some more dubs and some more kind of slow motion laundry somehow. I don't what what was the thing. What were the commercial. So those commercials had a c. Slickness like a kind of glazed. I had done like you know. Listen i had done every kind of commercial a lot of super bowl spots. I was you know a lot of car. Commercials the end of my commercial career. I i. i was really a almost a car. Guy exclusively and just shooting sheet metal in the desert you know. Why were you at that point but but sounds like you liked that kind of you like making things. You're into the style the aesthetic. Or were you like just yearning to tell stories intel. Always you know it's funny because in the commercial world and the yes. I did a tons of commercials in europe. They were always be these weird little cool little story movie and there's always super fun and I love doing that. And then you know back in the states. You know you'd get the odd super bowl spot. That had this kind of cool. You know little zinger kind of cool. I did a lot of the budweiser clydesdales spots. Yes and stuff like that and Are but but in the end. Yeah it was really interested in like what what what story. So i was constantly kind of going to the studios and do like. I started quite a while into my commercial pretty early into my commercial career. I got an agent and then we would go on a lot of generals and over the studios I would say like you know you. Pitcher stuff is like. Let me make you guys a cool movie you. I didn't know what i was talking about but You like zombies. I i'd gotten swat swat. Yes it's supposed to do that. And and then. I fell out with them because they wanted to make a pg thirteen. And as i got around to do that yeah tougher. Yeah we'll dawn of the dead. Was certainly i mean if if that was your calling card at the time it was Certainly not pg thirteen. I mean was something. We had three hundred as well. So we had three hundred that i've been taking around and everyone said no to And then i was about to make swat and they quit the movie and then dawn of the dead just kind of popped up and i said yes. I'll do it ourselves was it. Were you a huge fan of those meatloaf romero's movies. Yeah huge huge romero. I try and you know as best. I could with that movie. I really tried to be as reverent as i could to the source material like there's a lot of easter eggs there in that movie you know romero..

"Inconvenient. In retrospect however it always worked unless there is a thunderstorm or something in the power went out otherwise it and now the picture is beautiful. Remote is a four on everyone's face but it's so often cuts out constantly. Part of it is our fault because we don't have cable. Yeah i know rely on the internet which we like not good. We joke about it. Whenever it goes out christian been watching this. Show kings kings of pain. Which is these two guys. It's on national geographic channel as rechannel history channel. Sorry two guys. One of whom is named caveman Sounds like bill. Paxton norbert leo butz hopefully future guest and they bat make venomous insects and snakes and stuff bite them and they rate the pain. I can't believe it's a show. I watch it. It's our to turn away anyway. We were watching like it all right before you know. They're getting ready to give the scorpions about to stay there. And it's like oh my god man to it and it's like the climate climatic it'll just be like cut cut out over like freeze or and it happens so often that we just laugh as part of the experience of watching tv. Now isn't that crazy that like it's gotten to the point where like well we just have to accept that shows just gonna say we could remedy it just by getting cable. I know but i know anyway. Why are we talking about is a pain people getting well. We were talking about superman and like watching things like that. On streaming services maybe. Hbo max because our guest today is one of the great superhero epic directors. He's one of our biggest directors period for you. Now i know in fact. He's got two movies coming out. We'll talk about our guest today. Is zack snyder zaka. Somebody that's been on my radar. Ever since i saw dawn of the dead dawn of the dead with sarah polly. I love that movie. Do you ever see that. You've never seen that version with them. Hoping rams are fucking grade anyway tie burrell's and he still going but anyway zack has gone onto become. Yeah like we said a huge superhero director and he has now directed the ultimate in the dcu. The pantheon yeah it's Justice league which is out now on. Hbo max it's say four hour epic and his cut. Its we talked about how that happened..
Final 2021 NFL Draft Quarterback Rankings: Trevor Lawrence and Then What?
"So guys let's start off with the quarterbacks as this is probably the least eventful group especially because we just let mark handle this position group. Because that is his forte his speciality. We don't even really need to go through the ordering or anything specific with this one as we're going to do it the other position groups but the thing that's worth noting is it. Mark was highly reluctant to really go past mack jones and then after thinking it over he threw in kellyn mind. Davis mills kyle. Trask jamie newman. And that was pretty much it so i think we can all agree here that the quarterback class in in this year's nfl draft isn't exactly very good on the back end. There's a lot of really good talent at the top but as we start to push towards the second and third round like we don't even have a third rounder in this group. There's not really a lot of good options now. It doesn't really tier that way. Joe obviously you have the tran said quote unquote time trevor. Lawrence. and then. There's a lot of debate on who that actual second quarterback would be adjusted sales from ohio. State zack wilson from byu. Mac from alabama. It seems like the jets. Presume that zack wilson from byu. And i mean. There's a lot of rumors that three the san francisco forty niners are really all in on mac jones but we'll find that out next thursday. It's gonna be interesting. I mean outside of the top five quarterbacks in legit all five of them could go for the giants would be ideal for the new york giants. That would be absolutely but outside of those five. It's it's kind of a crap shoot between callum on. I'll trask davis mills. Yeah i actually wasn't surprised to of see the look of pain almost on mark's face when he had to we almost twisted his arm into throwing out his like second and fourth round quarterbacks. This is a very top heavy quarterback draft class and part of that could just be the position. Where if you've got a quarterback who is able to be accommodated starter. He's probably going to be a first rounder and probably a high first
Dr. Harvey Moscot and Zack Moscot on Running a Global, Fifth-Generation Family Business
"I sit down with fourth and fifth generation. Mosque scott's dr harvey mascot and zack moss got there the ceo and chief design officer of moscow. Eyewear and i care. Which is the new york institution for more than one hundred years. I wanted to ask them about the company's secret to on jeopardy including how it's fared during the pandemic and why continuing to invest in physical retail has made fence a welcome to you harvey. Good day thanks for having me your highs at also nice to meet you. Yeah nice to meet you as well. So fourth and fifth generation i mean. Was there ever any doubt that you'd be joining the family business. Let's start with us that it's funny. When i was a little boy always had a reluctance to joining the family business. And as i got older. And i saw the business evolve Always had a passion for product design and the relationship between products and objects. And there's this great opportunity as harvey's was growing expanding. The business to develop the brand and develop the product lines in the creative. And i saw this opportunity transition the business into the digital realm as well so as i got older and went to study product design at the university of michigan. I realized it was my opportunity to join the business. Not as an optician or an eye doctor but instead is a designer and that was my segue into the family business and that was how i joined right on. How about you harvey you were you. Were studying up for this. Yeah well. I genuinely liked to help. People and helping people with their vision was always intriguing. And the new angle for entering moss. Scott as the first communist and background in health care and getting a dr thomas degree love play my guitar and being banned. But i couldn't sing. So i had to figure out something else to find another path that merged a lot of my interests and this was a great

San Francisco 49ers, Miami Dolphins and Philadelphia Eagles Make NFL Draft Trades
"Not in season. But March has been mad for the league, especially this week here, Schefty with what all went down. What happened here is that the 40 Niners have been trying to move up in the draft into the top five, frankly, for the last few weeks now, and they were able to cold together a deal with the Miami Dolphins at the same time that the Dolphins were going together a separate deal. With the Philadelphia Eagles that enabled the 40 Niners toe move up the third overall position to take a quarterback. And that means in all probability that we're gonna have quarterbacks go with the first three picks in this draft. We would think Trevor Laurence goes one Zack Wilson to and then the 40. Niners would have their choice. Assuming they stand three for the third quarterback in this draft. I would not dismiss Mack Jones in that conversation. Like Trey, Lance. They like Justin Fields. They're going to continue to do more and more work here in the weeks leading up to the draft, but they wanted to get into this slot now. So that they could have their choice at three. Knowing that they would get one of these quarterbacks a lot of people then wonder what happens to Jimmy Garoppolo. Sure, they're gonna be trading him right? Not so fast, because they believe that this is a Super Bowl caliber roster, and they're not ready to hand that roster toe a young rookie quarterback who's unproven just yet. So in their minds today, Jimmy Garoppolo is going to be a quarterback and opening day, and that's not a leverage play. That's not them trying to bait another team into giving up more compensation for Jimmy Garoppolo. Their true honest plan today is to have Jimmy Garoppolo as the starting quarterback. Have the first round draft pick that they take a quarterback learn for a year and then eventually it will be his job in San Francisco going forward. We have
What we really thought of Zack Snyder's Justice League
"This is your daily charge here to help me geek out over the center. Cut is resident. comic book. Expert has seen it staff. Reporter sean kane. Welcome sean yeah look eke it out well before we begin. I want to warn the listener. That we'll be diving into spoiler territory so you've seen the film yet and don't wanna be spoiled. Turn off the podcast now and come back to us later so folks a minute ago. This islands is passed. Let's get into it sean. Overall what did you think of the film. I was pleasantly surprised. I've see reviews are widely varying. And i feel like your acceptance of this movie will is just a litmus test of your feeling about zack. Snyder's vision for these characters in this universe. Like i did not like batman versus superman don of justice even though i lost saying the title For the first time. I saw it and i was like. Oh this is a silly mess gets the characters. Wrong ivory watched it since i re-watch last year the slightly longer ultimate cost. I liked it a lot more. I'm not sure why accepted it so much. I guess the main thing it was is that without expectations. The first time i saw it. I think the first many what's off. They went in with expectations. And so that. Set me up nicely for the snyder costs. I knew what i was getting into. Yeah i actually. I did enjoy it. I was surprised. I would enjoy i. I was convinced was not going to be. I think because expectations were low for me and it was four hours but surprisingly saw confession is i have never watched the original theatrical cut of justice league in one sitting because always fall asleep like i slept through parts of every every time i've watched it and i have after watching a couple times mostly on airplanes. Were the were free and on demand. I was able to get but in multiple parts and i thought it was terrible and so this movie was a huge huge huge upgrade
Is Zach Snyder's 'Justice League' a Good Movie?
"The very controversial for so many reasons for content reasons for formatting reasons i saw so many memes about the fact that it was reformatted. Four three zack zack. Snyder's justice league has officially dropped. We say dropped on the internet right. It's not like premiering a movie theater. It's just dropping on on. Streamers is fishy dropped on hbo. Max there's a complicated back story where zacks under had to leave mid production because of a family tragedy which is very sad judd app not try that patel just we took over just we apparently was a total asshole and there were all sorts of lawsuits. About what a dickey was and then you know. The film by many fans was not felt to reflects what zach snyder intended and there was long discussion of a zacks undercut image. Peo- max put in seventy million dollars to shoot a whole bunch more footage to make the zack snyder. Cut of justice league. Come out for years later. This is an interesting story because it is different. From a lot of directors cut stories. A lot of directors cut stories are ten years later. I'm grateful the studio give me access to the archive to rescan the negative and re-cut it is very rare in fact i can't think of an example where someone's like four years later. I got an extra seventy five million dollars to shoot additional footage to make an alternate movie like it is. Is there another example. That are missing where somebody got that. I don't know but what i do know. Is that in the history of film. There have been many many many directors cuts and extended editions and versions. That were revisited. We've talked about some of them here before. And most of our audience familiar with many of them It is not unheard of obviously for there to be something that prevents the original vision to be completed by the person who had it. And obviously there are many instances where somebody could go back and try and piece things together. Only orson welles. A number of times We even talked to. I talked to walter merch about going back in and recruiting and working on touch of evil. There are the magnificent emerson's with him as well. I think he's one of the early versions. Were early famous versions but bladerunner famously for anybody mir charles age And so much inbetween. It's such a common story but this one does stand apart because yeah he was given basically a massive feature film budget to make more of it his version of it and it is an interesting thing like will this happen more often. Will we get criminal. And saying actually i want to shoot a whole different ending too dark dark knight rises fifteen years later. Because i've rethought it. And i wanna go into a very complicated sort of relationship between the artists and the work when you remove the theatrical premiere and when you open up the idea of shooting original additional footage it is a it's vastly different so Full disclosure wasn't able to finish it have a two year olds. Get very sleepy very easily. Don't have four hours with two year. Old where i can watch the whole thing but universally in my social media of the people in my life everyone i know seems to have really enjoyed the new cup more than the last cut. I do not understand why people hate on sex neither so much. I genuinely enjoyed his dawn of the dead. I thought it was solid. I also am a like. I wanted to get into movies. Originally to make watchmen. When i was nice school. I don't hate his watchman. Cut like everyone else does. I don't understand whether so mad about it. I think people to hate sex. Neither for some reason that does not make sense to me. I'll also disclosed and then michelle. I know michelle is actually watched both right but so i have watched the new one. I watched the snyder cut. I did it. I made it through. Well di i not a big comic book movie fan. In general i have seen many of them though. And i did not see the original justice league so i had to do some research on what changed which was really interesting to me. I also actually really think highly of him from a visual standpoint. I find that even when he's not like a lot of the movies directed this one included. The material is just not great in my opinion but he's visually so committed to the bit that he does that his sequences really worked for me. And i think he's a great comic book movie director choice. Because i think he's really. His camera is like ballot. Check i think his action sequences are visually compelling. And i think his approach like to me the thing that felt the weakest about this. I mean obviously the some some major casting problems major script problems but all that aside i think it it mimicked. Some of what marvel does too much sometimes which i don't really like. They're some straight up. Like this is just an avenger. Seen but not as good. And i don't really love what it was in the first place personally but all my my personal take aside. I think filmmakers He is just he really doesn't. He's earnest he's not tongue in cheek and sometimes it gets a little silly and you might laugh. But i think his earnest approach to how dramatic he is with his camera like from dawn of the dead to the three hundred to a and tackling real quick charles before michelle I think that warner brothers is known to have some really tight released times. They don't have the same war chest that disney does for like they. They set these release dates. They they have to make them. I'm not going to get into the wise. And if sets really true but and that puts a lot of pressure on finishing something and delivering something. And i think that some of the the flaws in some of these dc comic book movies have to do with some of that some of us so anyway onto you. Michelle i f Well done on watching. The center is a endeavor. I i think i knew what the runtime was. But it doesn't click in my head until i was watching and the timeline at the bottom. It has like how long you've watched. And i miss read it. I thought it was much like when it said two and a half hours at the bottom. I thought that was a total Not they meant time that i had laughed and that was quite a surprise. So it's long. Don't don't kid yourself jack. Knifed mini series has parts could have been released in parts. My first input. If you will is i feel like i. Keep reading the quote snyder cut. That snyder wouldn't release in two thousand seventeen and i would argue that. I don't know this is i. Don't think this is at all what would have been released for so many reasons. It's a it's a post weeden post tragedy post. Hbo max snyder display. I don't think we would be able to release a for. I could be wrong. A four hour epic in a theater in twenty seventeen. I don't obviously say that. There are many teaser. There are changes are subtle there. Some people have pointed them out and in terms of very subtle and different. Like stolen changes. That i think are in there now. For example there's a billboard others billboard in the city at some point in the messages you're not alone and a lot of people have guessed that something that snyder put in in reference to his daughter. Like these little things that have been put in log away 'cause post years of reflection on it and i just don't think not content aside just the run time. I'm not sure how many people really yes for hours within a theatre. Let's do it. I don't know if we the same. i do. Think a really interesting experiment if anyone ever wants to ever play with this idea of same footage different story concept of how to edit something together. Because i started watching the josh sweden version the same evening. Don't do this same evening through off after watching case for a minute i thought you were. You said you meant side by side like you had to i. Four by three setup does allow you. I will say to have it on the side of my screen. As i was like doing some work so i will say the former three at least helpful in the arrangements of your browser window because like i'm not cutting anything off because it's not a letterbox or other format so the four by three is is is makes it easier to have the size. No i tried watching the conversion right. After some of the scenes giving away some of the scenes that feel pivotal in the story. Line are like thrown in the credits. The opening like oh i get with. This is going to do you. I don't know if i can sit through

After his twenty year old daughter autumn took her own life and he told the hollywood reporter at the time in my mind. I thought it was a cathartic thing to go back to work to just bury myself and see if that was the way through it but then he said the demands of this job are pretty intense. It is all consuming and in the last two months. I've come to the realization up decided to step back from the movie to be with my family. Be with my kids. You really need me. They are all having a hard time. I'm having a hard time and so the version of this film that we're watching right now. This four hour film dedicated autumn and the proceeds from this film are going to suicide prevention. Which is of course very important. 'cause and there's no reason to make light of any of that stuff i think it's it's actually kind of amazing and kind of beautiful. That zack snyder got a chance to make the movie that he really wanted to make. Despite enduring this horrifically tragic period in his life for his family so in that respect this is kind of miraculous that had
Getting chippy: ‘I’m a Mac’ guy is now just a guy who likes PCs better in ad campaign from Intel
"If you haven't seen them until put out a series of commercials with justin. I'm a mac guy. And he's he's as i'm a. I'm just adjusting. Just i'm a human being. He goes and he goes into the living room and he talks to a person on it looks and he's like. Oh wow. this has two screens. Oh well this guy's playing video games this stuff you could never do unimak the end There's one that the key word on the front computer with the second screen. They they screwed up the after effects audit and the second screen is hovering over his hands in like a split second anyway. So these are the commercials. I think these ads are mostly just integrate itself dunked on select just objectively. The ads didn't work the way they wanted to. Yeah let me make the case for the ads. Intel is about to enter a new ceo. Yep they're about to enter this extremely weird middle period where either going to figure it out or not. Yep inside of that middle period every time apple puts out an m one or m series computer. Yup the story about until being dead is everywhere yep into also has hundreds of oem customers with their chips inside their computers. These are ads about real problems with max so like it is true that you cannot touch the screen unimak yes. Many people have noticed this. It is true that you can't follow it over and a tablet is true that you can't use the silence on it. It is true that apple really wants you to have we. Did we talked about fitness. Plus with ashley like apple wants you have an ipad iphone and mac like yep that is true that there are no games on a mac like none of intel's points for wrong. It is true that the design of a mac has been static for years In even with the new chips they still look the same yup and maybe that will change now but on itself is true so the things that intel is saying are just true. Criticisms of the mac get hundred percent. That's it that's all i got. I obviously did not work out. Yeah the thing like every time apple releases a new Embraced mac it's going to be intel's dead. Stories is really every single time. I talked to a company about it. He left hopper. Like you chromebooks. Whatever it's like yeah but M one like here's your battery. Life is like actually half of what the competition is. And it's gonna be a long time before there's an answer and like to do with itself in that that period yet again new. Ceo he just started. I think in a couple of weeks. He's going to do his first. Big thing is the first big thing that the screw it. We're we're giving up on trying to have this stuff ourselves we're just gonna have to use mc make our stuff. Yeah we'll see. That was a big striking for those wishing. He's got to do something that's really. They're about to enter this weird fallow period and the whole point of the new to change the strategy and he just started. So what's the first thing to do is like just remind everybody that from a design and capability perspective. That mac is like actually quite static. Yeah okay well. Maybe like microsoft tries this every couple of years to like maybe had very predictable results. But like i get it i understand i. Just don't i think maybe they should have seen the predictable result on the other hand hiring justin long that made everybody talk about until that's sure got it themselves a whole if you believe all is good press which do not as a method. They bought themselves a cycle. We'll see

"Just an MP in Iraq. I was a medical corpsman in Afghanistan. I had to literally so people back together. What did you do? That was so horrible so with his relationship at a dead end and no help from his friends. Zack starts looking for support somewhere else. In the summer of two thousand six he start seeing a man he met at a local bar. Zach is just starting to come to terms with being bisexual and most of his friends. Don't even know about it so he tries to keep the new relationship under wraps but of course by September word gets back to Addie and she's furious first of all she's furious at Zack's cheating on her although it's hard to say how much they were actually together at this point but to her the fact that he's cheating on her with a man somehow makes it much worse in her eyes for the next few weeks. She taunted him with homophobic slurs even in front of his friends and co-workers. This was very nearly the last straw for both of them. Then at the end of September addy comes to Zak with one last offer of reconciliation. She got into a dispute with her landlord and she was about to be addicted. She couldn't afford to put down a deposit on a new place so she asked sat to move in with her for real this time their own equally shared home a year lease and a fresh start. This seemed promising to Zach so he agreed to give it one more shot so at the beginning of October. Two thousand six they move in eight twenty six north. Rampart street sack pays the first and last month's rent out of his own pocket and he's under the impression that when the landlord gets the paperwork together they're both going to be listed as tenants however on the morning of October fourth addy shows of the office and asked to sign the lease alone with only her name on it about five minutes later. The landlord gets a call from a Zach. Obviously sees where this is heading. If apartments in addy's name she can kick him out whenever she wants as usual and since he was the one who put down the move in fees. He's going to be homeless and broke so the landlord goes back to Addie to ask her. What's going on? The first thing she says is that Zach cheated on her and she's kicking him out now at this point the landlords like listen. You need to sort out your own drama. I don't want to be involved in this. So he leaves and that's the last time anyone sees addy alive now. When police I look at this crime it seemed totally senseless. But that's because they were only looking at the days around the murder itself when you actually put together the full story the year and a half slow-burn of tension it makes perfect sense. The argument about the lease was actually a fight about everything. The financial instability the infidelities sexuality addy's emotional abuse both of their past traumas and untreated mental illnesses. Not to mention the drinking and drug use with such a perfect storm of stress. It's not surprising that sack reached his breaking point. Knowing all this at the end of the day it looks like the only demons involved psychological ones the fact that the new apartment was above. A voodoo temple is just stray thread in the story and for the next few years that was it. The case was closed and the rumors about dark. Magic were put to rest. But in June of two thousand twelve something happen that raised fresh questions about Zack. Addy's demise. Another young woman from New Orleans was killed and dismembered and the killer happened to be one of addie halls. Closest Friends. Coming up will explore the connection between these two gruesome murders. Now back to the story on June seventh two thousand twelve a woman's torso washed up on the beach in Bay. Saint Louis. Mississippi severed limbs and decapitated head followed close behind it. The body was identified as Jaren Lockhart. A twenty two year old dancer from New Orleans almost immediately. The investigators zeroed in on their suspects. Terry speaks and Margaret Sanchez. I closing time in the early hours of June six. The couple had appeared at the club. Were jared danced. Terry and Margaret. Both used to actually work at the club. Chew as a dancer and a doorman respectively so they knew Jaren everyone else. Pretty well Margaret asked around to see if any of the dancers wanted to work a private party a few girls turn them down but Jaren had made very many tips that night and rent due soon. So she agreed. Security cameras picked up Margaret Terry and Jaren walking down the street together at about two o'clock in the morning and that was the last time. Jaren was seen alive. Margaret and Terry were both arrested on June twelve just a week. After the murder. There was a mountain of evidence against them though. Admittedly no clear motive but before the two suspects could be formerly charged. Police were hit with a curve ball on July fourth the ABC drama show final witness aired an episode about Sack Bowen. An addy halls murder suicide one of the main subjects they interviewed was addy's best friend. None other than Margaret Sanchez on the show which was taped more than a year earlier. Margaret talks in detail about her friendship with Addie. They'd met before Hurricane Katrina when they were both working as bartenders in the French quarter Margaret. Also News Act pretty well and it was clear that she'd been around the couple. In the months leading up to their deaths in one segment she imagines going through Zaks head after killing addy quote. What am I going to do to get rid of the body? That would be the first thought. How am I going to fix this and quote the detectives on the Jaren Lockhart Case? Just ignore this deputy chief Don Bass told The Times Picayune. Let me ask you this. How many personal friends you have who've been murdered. And how many personal friends do you have? Who were murdered and dismembered but no matter how closely they looked. There wasn't any evidence linking Margaret to addy's debt to be fair the investigation. Two thousand six would have been quick since all signs pointed to Zach. So it's possible that there's something that they missed as far as anyone could tell though there really was no connection. It was just an unbelievable freak coincidence. The situation looks even stranger. When you consider the motive for Jaren Lockhart murder or rather the total lack of motive just like with Adams APP. No one could figure out what drove Margaret and Terry to murder. They knew the victim but not well. Nothing of value was stolen. The crime was obviously premeditated but for no apparent reason so once again with nothing else to go off the investigators start to wonder if other forces were at play this time the theory they landed on was sacrificed on the night of the murder. There was this really rare astronomical event called Venus transit which is when Venus passes between the Earth and the Sun. It only happens twice every two hundred forty three years so it's kind of a big deal to scientists but it doesn't have any real significance to any culture except ancient Maya most. Maya rituals were based around the planets particularly Venus and a lot of those rituals included human sacrifice. You might remember that in two thousand twelve big panic around the apocalypse because the Maya calendar ended that December. Now it's hard to say. Exactly what the Maya thought would happen. Two thousand twelve but they considered it the end of a cycle for humanity and the beginning of a new world. The Venus Transit in June of two thousand twelve was supposed to usher in that shift so a likely time for human sacrifice if you live in ancient Mesoamerica but as how it relates to our suspects. According to the lead investigator Margaret and Terry had mentioned the Venus transit in emails to each other. But that's all we have. The full. Emails have never been released to the public so we don't even know like what they said about the Venus Transit. They could have just heard about it once on the news and beyond those emails no other evidence supports the ritual sacrifice theory. Jaren had been killed by a single stab wound to the heart. The decapitation and the dismemberment occurred postmortem. And according to investigators to only purpose was to make it harder to identify the body. Ironically it looked like Jaren was cut apart for the same reason as Addie pure and simple convenience. We can't say for sure but it's possible that Margaret was thinking back to her friend. Step the further. You look into it. This is the only real connection between the two murderers they weren't committed by the same people or the same demonic force but they were both rooted in the same emotional trauma. Like sack. Terry speaks was also a veteran. He served in the Marine Corps from nineteen ninety one to nineteen ninety-two during his service was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. Later on. He was hospitalized for suicide attempt as for Margaret. According to a friend she had bipolar disorder. Just like addy and when two people who are both dealing with such difficult issues get together. Well we already saw what can happen instead of building each other up you might bring out the worst in one another however even though there's an earthly answer the voodoo rumors about Zack. Addy never really stopped in October. Two Thousand Sixteen on the ten year anniversary of attis murder the TV show. Paranormal lockdown traveled to what they call the Rampart Street Murder House for seventy two hours to paranormal. Investigators locked themselves in Zack. Addy's apartment to finally put the rumors to test. Their results were inconclusive. The only solid findings were from a device called the go box which supposedly allows spirits to communicate through radio waves. The device captured voice. Saying you're not alone and more shockingly strangled to death but before we get too carried away with that we have to take a look at the GIO box itself. It's essentially a radio scanner with a few modulars attached supposedly. If there is a spirit nearby they'd be able to manipulate the radio frequencies to send you a message but the creator of the box admits that without the interference of spirit all you're GonNa get is bleed from am radio broadcasts. If the words you hear match up with the answers you're looking for. It's most likely just a coincidence. Coincidences are hard to accept which is partially why there are so many occult theories about this case in the first place but in a way coincidence is an even scarier explanation than dark. Magic voodoo curse. Zack addy and Margaret Terry. For that matter were all haunted by common every day issues mental illnesses. Ptsd abuse infidelity alcohol drugs. Pretty much everyone has dealt with at least one of those issues in their lifetime and it usually doesn't end with a severed head on a stove top but when you put them all together. It doesn't matter how levelheaded you are or how much you love your partner. The right combination of stress and trauma could push anyone over the edge..

"Original. And I'm your host Ashley Flowers every Wednesday. I'll be taking a deep dive into a real unexplained mystery to try and figure out the truth. It's mental health awareness month so for this episode. We're going to be looking at a case. That's a little different. There's a long long history of mental illness being conflated with the paranormal like demonic possession or go sightings this is pretty dangerous not only because it stigmatizes mental illness but because it stops us from addressing the real human problems that are usually at the root of it and nothing exemplifies this better than the two thousand six murder. Suicide of Zach Boeing and Eddie Hall. You can find all episodes of supernatural and all other podcast originals for free on spotify. And if you like what you're hearing reach out on facebook and Instagram at podcast and on twitter at podcast network when you think of New Orleans you picture a bustling city jazz music and Mardi Gras parades. But in two thousand six. It was a ghost town in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Most of the population had evacuated. Except Zack Addy. They were among the few thousand hold outs who refuse to evacuate the French quarter. They were also both bartenders. And after Katrina bartenders were like Gods. They kept the morale up and basically held the community together during the recovery effort so everyone was shocked when just a year later. The happy young couples relationship ended in the most gruesome way imaginable following the instructions. From Zack's note. Police Arrive at eight twenty six north Rampart Street at about ten PM on October seventeenth. The place was trashed. The floor was covered in beer. Cans and cigarette stubs and unopened. Moving boxes were stacked around the living room and hears strange part. All of the walls were graffitied with black spray painted messages one of them said please call my wife another said. I love her one. I'm a total failure and on the ceiling above the bed read. Please help me stop the pain. And finally and the most ominous of all look in the oven. When officers opened the oven it took a moment to register what they were really looking at arms and legs burnt to a crisp in a tin foil Pan and on the burner. There was a pot containing an unrecognizable head and behind. That was another pot with two severed hands and feet and in the fridge is where they found her torso from Zach suicide note. They knew what had happened. But why was still unfathomable? Eventually they found an eight page confession. Written in the last few pages of Abbie's journal almost immediately the details leaked to the press and excerpts from the note were published everywhere from ABC News to the UK's Daily Mirror. It described in exacting detail everything that led to the grisly scene before them. Zack starts off with his motive about two weeks earlier on October fourth he had he had gotten into a fight they just moved into the new apartment a few days ago and addy had apparently tried to take his name off the lease their argument lasted into the late hours of the night and then at about one o'clock in the morning Zach strangled her so right off the bat. This sounds like a pretty intense reaction to the situation. Right like it'd be one thing. If had a history of violent behavior or domestic abuse but by all accounts that wasn't the case he was never violent guy and in fact he was really level headed. It's true that everyone has a breaking point but this this was it a disagreement about moving in together. What makes it even? More horrifying is that he didn't just strangle addy. He allegedly sexually assaulted her corpse before falling asleep next to it the next morning. He just went to work and when he got home. He moved her body into the bathtub. Got a hacksaw and a knife and spent the entire night. Cutting her body Zach had the whole weekend off work so he had plenty of time to finish up the task however according to his note quote due to laziness I spent most of the time coked up in various bars with different girls. I scared myself not by the action of strangling the woman that I've loved for one and a half years but by entire lack of remorse. I wanted to quit my job and spend the fifteen hundred dollars in cash. I had being happy and kill myself and quote. And that's exactly what he did for the next four days addy's remains continued to rot while Zach was out partying spending all his money on drinks and drugs and Wednesday finally did get around to cleaning up the body. He decided took cook the parts in the oven. Now there's no evidence that he actually ate any of her body parts and in his explanation he claimed it was basically just to make it easier to dispose of but as we know he just left the burnt pieces in the kitchen and called it quits. So that isn't even really make sense to me by October seventeenth. Nearly two weeks. After the murder at the tension finally snapped. He ends his confession note with a list of regrets. Quote Friends Jobs. Military Marriage love. Every last one of these I failed at according to the note he burned himself with a cigarette. Twenty eight times one for each year of his life and then he jumped off the roof of the Omni Royal Hotel to anyone who knew Zach. This was totally incomprehensible. Sure his relationship with Addie wasn't always rosy they'd been on again off again for the past few months but they always manage to work through their differences and stay together until they moved into this apartment. The building was converted. Two Story Cottage Zack. And Addy lived on the second floor and right below them on the ground level was the New Orleans Voodoo spiritual temple. Almost immediately there was speculation that the location itself wasn't a coincidence now. Some of that speculation came from their neighbor John. John had lived on the property for years in a few different units. Actually but no matter which one he lived in. He just never felt comfortable there for awhile. He'd lived in Zach Matty's apartment. He got such bad vibes there that he actually had to have a priest. Come in and bless it but that must have not even worked because eventually he settled into his studio in the back building which is just across the courtyard. He was up late on the night after the murder and he felt a sense of foreboding that he just couldn't quite place then just before dawn he looked outside and he that he saw someone standing on the balcony outside his window so he goes over to check but when he gets there. There's no one there now. At first he let it go but a little while later he sees it again by now. John was so freaked out that he actually called in a friend to come over and look outside but once again no one was there now to be fair kind of sounds like John might just be superstitious. But he wouldn't be alone in that. New Orleans has a reputation for haunting such as John explained to the reporter Ethan Brown. This is an old city with old. Spirits don't tempt them naturally with the apartment being right above the sacred temple. Some people wondered if there was dark magic involved in the murder. The temple only opened its doors in nineteen ninety but the building itself has a history with food that stretches back for centuries it was originally a creole style. Cottage built in eighteen. Twenty nine right down. The street from Congo Square in eighteen hundreds Congo square is wearing slaved. Africans would gather every Sunday to sell goods dancing and practice their native religions. The different African religions actually mixed with the Catholic beliefs of the French colonists to create Louisiana. Voodoo what happened at the square though was more entertainment than actual ritual. The serious magic took place somewhere else. Either out on the by you or at someone's house for example. The courtyard of a message just across Rampart Street. The problem is those ceremonies. Probably weren't as dark as you might be imagining. There are different types of Voodoo and while some of them do include harmful magic some only focus on healing and protection priestess. Miriam Shimoni who opened the Voodoo temple in Nineteen? Ninety is in the second group. Her practice is mainly about and spiritual healing. If there's a demonic presence in the building she isn't the one who summoned it but if something was summoned their way back say the eighteen hundreds. It's possible that it might still be lingering in two thousand six and it might have been what drove Zach Bolen over the edge. At least that's the story. That was making the rounds at the time. It's really just speculation. Apart from their neighbor getting bad vibes. There isn't any evidence. But then how do you explain what happened?.
