As Congress prepares to take up Washington DC statehood, national support grows

"At the hearing today on and on dc statehood. We had some real gems the heritage foundation. Zach smith said dc residents already impact the national debate because members of congress see their yard signs while driving to work and then a republican representative actually said dc would be the only state without an airport car dealership or landfill to be a state. That was his argument. The landfill landfill. Our what does that even mean so. They don't have great arguments guys and speaking of arguments. We do have some new polling on voting rights that we did with our friends at data for progress where we tested democratic arguments in favor of hr one against republican arguments opposed to hr one The good news is that support for the bill. Holds up even after you give people the republican arguments though. Some of those republican arguments are more effective than others What was your takeaway from the polling. In terms of what democrats should both emphasize and be ready for love. I would say like the to me. The the biggest takeaway was not what individual arguments did but rather how the the numbers change once people find out. It's a partisan issue right. Like republicans are far more in favor of hr one until they find out it's democratic proposal and to me you know. Republicans are pushing a lot of this because of the big lie and because some of the motivations and fears that we talked about but because a lot of this is based on a lie there. A lot of assumptions Baked into into these republican proposals. That are necessarily true like the assumption that mail in voting somehow in a normal election will benefit democrats and so to me. What i took away from this is if you want to fight back against the argument that this is particularly partisan we should be saying that republicans that democrats want to make it easier for democrats and republicans to vote. We want non partisan gerrymandering commissions. We wanna make it easier for everyone no matter their political affiliation to vote and republicans are so afraid of voting that they wanna punish their own voters make it harder for their own voters to show up at the polls just because they're afraid of democratic voters we need to be making this a non explicitly nonpartisan.

"Thanks so much for staying with us during the break, and the fact of the matter is, we need your legal expertise to kind of fair it through some of the complexity of what we are seeing and hearing it before we get on with the business. Of predicting what may happen next. What do you think about the idea that we're seeing the weaponization of the impeachment process? It's dangerous, and it's bad for us as a as a country, you know. Unfortunately, this was really what's been referred to is a snap impeachment. You know, there weren't any hearings. There were really no witnesses called before the House adopted the articles of impeachment and you know, impeachment was really intended to be a bipartisan process, a broadly bipartisan process where the evidence of wrongdoing or malfeasance is abundantly clear. And so unfortunately, I do. I do fear that we're going to see more partisanship coming to the impeachment process, and that's again That's really dangerous for us. As a country if you have the impeachment process being weaponized to basically Harv, your opponent for simple political purposes, and we truly begin to take on the characteristic of some of the so called third World Banana style Republics. We have come to criticize over the decades where they typically use the political process as a weapon against their enemies, and that's what it's starting to look and sound a lot like here in these United States, and I hope that I don't overstate the case. Zach Smith, when I make that kind of a statement. Well, look, I think that a large part of the rule of law is the law rules. We have clear rules of the road that apply. We have practices and precedents could have been followed. And unfortunately when those presidents or changed or the rules were changed to benefit one party over the other, it really does undermine the rule of law. And make us all you know, have less confidence in our system of government. And so I hope moving forward that if impeachment is warranted, there will be. You know a thorough investigation. There will be hearings a broad bipartisan consensus that this is an appropriate action and that it won't be weaponized just to punish political opponents. Now to that degree is we turn the corner on this discussion. What do you see? Transpiring next? And how long do you think this could possibly go? Well after 2020. I'm very hesitant to make any predictions to going forward. But if you look in the resolution that was adopted and the beginning of today's proceedings Essentially what it does. It gives each side the president's side and the house impeachment managers a total 16 hours to present their case s o each day will essentially get to two days. Start will get two days to present their case. After that. Senators will give the given approximately four hours to question both sides decide whether they need to subpoena any witnesses to come in and testify. The right now there appears to be broad, bipartisan consensus that that won't be necessary and we just delay the process. And then after that, there are each side will be given about four hours for closing arguments on so you know, I think the hope would be that by the end of the weekend Sunday, maybe into Monday, if necessary. I've done this process would be completed. Of course it's witnesses were called are you know some other issue comes up during the course of these proceedings that could delay it, But I think the goal would be to get it done quickly and hopefully have you know this issue resolved by the end of the weekend. I can certainly understand your reticence to make any kind of prognostication, but Is it? Perhaps possible to think that Donald Trump Private Citizen Trump Amidst these proceedings and at their conclusion will be acquitted. Much like he was in the first go round. Well, if we just work, you know, there would need to be a substantial number of Republican senators who would basically vote to convict Donald Trump and then would need to vote too. Barn forever holding federal office again. In addition to the you know senators who the six senators from the GOP who voted to let the teacher process forward, you know, I think there need to be about 17 additional senators who need toe vote to convict Donald Trump. And based on the public statements of the senator's we've heard so far there just doesn't seem to be the the numbers there that would allow its addiction to take place and so given that, you know, I think everybody a toast right now recognizes that reality and the hope is that this process will will move forward expeditiously without wasting anyone's time unnecessarily. Zach Smith has joined us to discuss some of the legal ends an ounce of this political process taking place in the Senate, and at the end of day one. We now await the proceedings of Day two. Zach Smith Heritage Foundation, Legal fellow in the Meat Center for Legal and Judicial Studies were glad that you've taken the time out of your busy schedule to join us and discuss These issues and explain and make clear to our listeners some of the complexities we look forward to, quite possibly speaking with you again, perhaps at the end of the proceedings. "On I Heart radio. Get the Chiefs and Saints tomorrow at 4 30 on 700 wlw general White, able to walk off the field under his own power Right now he is crouching on the sidelines, so he's going to be out for at least a play. We mentioned earlier that James Wiggins entered the game with a strained calf. He tried to play But eventually limped off the field. I don't think we're going to see him again, so meerkats are missing a toe, least at the moment, the first team on league's safety and James Wiggins a first team all T all league linebacker. Rural white, although it does look like Gerald back in shortly. And trying to slow down a Tulsa offense that's running the ball very effectively. They have runs a 13 12 88 and seven In the first half 55 yards total on the ground 56 through the air. So balance, not a lot of offense, but we're just barely into the second quarter. They've done a nice job over the football this, Dr High band Fossen is going to replace Carol Whites. At least for a play. One thing that I've noticed tonight. I don't know if it's because of the layoff for Tulsa Bear. Cats don't seem to be tackling as well tonight. That's something they've been strong at all year. They're letting people break Tackles on 72 reports. Cincinnati got allies you ponder pack for the game tonight. After he had to miss the UCF game. I should be a name to the whole of all the day post game for a postseason game, and they will play that in Hawaii. There's a hand off to a new running back Prince. He's down to the 26 on that's going to give us another first down, so the golden Hurricane started at their own 28. They've driven to the Cincinnati 26, where they have a first down the bear cats leading 10. Nothing early second quarter first time we've seen Prince and he's in the top 10 in the conference and rushing, so they do have some versatility of running back. He missed the Navy game. That was the last time it's also play quarterback Zach Smith in the gun catches the staff hands it off to Prince nailed by General white. He's back into the game after missing one play, no gain on the run for generic Prince. Another bear cat down, though, and ready to go. Face that was Jabari Taylor Taylor heads to the sideline. Marcus Brown will check in Marcus name Second team All conference heard his books in there as well. Second down and 10 for Tulsa at the Cincinnati 26 told the Bronco showing blitz as he was creeping up. Yep, That was a hard signal to look to the sideline. See if you want to change the play. Zach Smith catches the shotgun snap fakes a handoff, looking left cocks. The arm throws. It's too high. With the plate at 12 Yard line intended for Josh Johnson, guarded by our client, Busch Gardens, Curtis Brooks in the down in the 30 yard line with two golden Hurricane offensive lineman on top of him trying to get up. They weren't gonna let him up. Referee step in. Way Go 3rd 10 Big play here. It's also will send three receivers out to the white side left one receiver out to the rights running back his generic prince. He's in the back field to the right of the quarterback to slave block down to one. Salsa didn't snap it in time. Penalty flags down cost five. I believe offensive lineman started backing out as they could see the play clock knowing that it was Coming down or they're gonna call this in Cincinnati prior to the penalty first charge. Time out. We're told something. Yeah, see, it's good to have a crowd back. Crowd booing that they allowed that to happen. Referees so The offensive line there looking and play clock in the closed in closed end zone and they see it zero down one and there's they're pulling out of there thinking Jack Smith's gonna If the play going, they backed out of their fur. Fortunately for Tulsa, Philip Montgomery or his offensive staff had called a time out trying to penalty Montgomery in his sixth year as the head coach at Tulsa. Luke Fickell has spoken very highly of him both as a coach and is a person in previous years old Montgomery probably needed a good year. Last three years. Toss has gone 48 392 in 10, but they turned it around in a big way this year, 61 going into the game tonight. Down in 10 of the Cincinnati 26 shotgun snaps Smith from the pocket throws it left and threw it short might have been tipped at the line of scrimmage passes incomplete intended for killing Stokes. I gave the signal that it was tipped, but I don't know that itwas that bad of a pass. It looked like it. I thought maybe they were going to go for on fourth down. It's a long field goal trying not long long but long enough. About 47 Yard. I take that back. 43 Holder is a wide receiver and the coach's son Cannon Montgomery, so he would be a threat for a fake. Kicker is good those that blonde second team all week this year. This is a 43 yard tried to stab the put down and the kick plenty of distance and that kick is good. So tell us is on the scoreboard and Cincinnati's lead is down to seven. We'll take a time out 11 away left in the half. Cincinnati 10 and Tulsa three listing American football presented by you great news radio 700 wlw. Triple.

"Presumption against the bail will apply. And you know, that's not a radical idea that something that happens in many contacts in the federal system and courtrooms around the country every day. And so I think it's certainly Something that it's worthwhile to be looked at, because you really see the same old group of people causing a lot of the havoc. A lot of the damage time after time. Now would be nice if they locked him up. Especially important, considering their mayor went out and marched with them, and then they try to kill him. Yeah, you would think you would have changed things. I don't like anything that they don't like. They don't like anybody or anything. It's all for them. But hopefully we won't have to worry about any of that. Here in Florida. Zach Smith, We can't thank you enough. How's Pensacola? By the way, because of the hurricane, will you okay? We're doing okay. Got a little damage, but I think folks are recovering, coming out better and stronger than they were before. But I really appreciate you asking, and I really appreciate you guys having me on today. Absolutely love too heavy again. People work. Zach Smith from the Heritage Foundation. Take care. Thanks for the time. Thank you for listening to South Florida Sunday on the stations of Hubbard Radio West Palm Beach. Aaron Curtiss, hear news director at 8 50 double the FTL and I am joined by the city of West Palm Beach. Fire Chief Diana Maddie. How are you? Good morning. Explain. How are you? Excellent. Well, I wanted to touch base with you on a couple of topics. Hurricane season being over with and also the coronavirus. Let's first start with hurricane season and I know we ended hurricane season. As of December 1st. But we could still get more storms in December because this year's been wacky. But do you suggest that people take down their hurricane shutters? Now It's a huge fire hazard for people to leave their hurricane shutters up, even in between, storms even threw out hurricane season. So you know the risk of dying in a fire is Extremely high when you leave your shutters up because of the extra effort that the firefighters have to go through, just to get the shutters off. These men access the window so that the risk people are taken by leaving those up. Exactly. So it's also dangerous to put them up and take them down. So people need to be careful, right? Certainly, if you have the metal ones that are, you know that kind of lay over each other, just the regular Anil shutters those can last rate hand seat. Other parts. You have to be very careful with those Make sure you wear shoes. You know if you're unstable on your feet, maybe get a friend A neighbor to help, especially climbing ladders, Right? Oh, yeah, They're heavy. Yeah, they're not like, especially if you try to take two off that wants or there. There are large ones. You know, they can be really heavy. So working off ladders and dangerous, You know, definitely something you want to do with a friend, Okay? Now let's switch to the coronavirus. I know we spoke while earlier in the year and you were is telling me that you having problems with PPE getting enough masks for your first responders that they actually had to wear like fire equipment, But so how's everything going? First of all with P P E for your first responders? Well, thank you. That supply has greatly improved. We're able to get masks. Now We're out there every day. Protecting our firefighters with you know, the best 95 mask is the is the top of the line, and that's the most protective So you know, that's what they're wearing on every call when they go out to, you know, protect our firefighters in order to then protect the community. So you know what? We've got that under control, and we're hoping that this vaccine works. And now we can put this General review mirror soon. Absolutely. Or speaking with the West Palm Beach Fire Chief Diana Matty and have your paramedics and first responders seen an uptick in calls to 911 regarding the virus. Absolutely couple of months we've seen with transported a lot more to the hospitals. The hospital bargains are a little bit higher right now. So you know, it's it's a reflection of society as a whole. You see the Positivity Racer of the You Know, Daily caseloads are up. So we're definitely seeing some changes now, just from our particular aspect here and what song We're not seeing the severity of the cases that we did during the first song. I guess they call it the first wave that we did you know, several months ago six months ago, but we are still seeing a higher volume than we were even two months ago. But paramedics and first responders are still doing their job and putting themselves in danger. Have any of your people tested positive. We've had quite an uptick. Over the past since October, 1st and credit drastic increase in the number of firefighters, but it kind of follows the same trend line as you see in the general public, So we're running more calls around more people in society that you know there's more community spread. So you know, As a result, our firefighters are getting exposed to it more so we have seen an uptick in Positive firefighters and it's a dangerous job, and they signed up for danger when they signed up to be a firefighter, whether it be hurricane response or fires, or, you know, we go to shootings and stabbings and all of these Fickle thing. And now we're dealing with are pandemics and we just evolved to take on that challenge. Absolutely. So will your people be some of the first to receive the vaccine? According to what I heard yesterday, we're supposed to be in not the very first round. But if they're calling it round one A, B and C We're supposed to be either beer see? And once the CDC releases the information on the plan, individual states kind of pick and choose which ABC plan to go with, so we haven't received official word, but we will be some of the first. Maybe not the very first. Awesome. I can't wait for you guys to get that vaccine and make it safe for you to actually answer these emergency calls. Diana, Matty. Thank you so much for joining us on South Florida Sunday. And we appreciate all you do for the community and all of what your people do for the community. Thanks so much. Thanks for having me. I appreciate it. You have a good day, You two And.

"Thank you very much John White along we're trying very crisp cold here at the United center where tonight the final score was the black hawks for the Buffalo Sabres one savers have a one in this building since two thousand and seven long time but tonight the Blackhawks won their fourth straight game the improved their record to nine seven and for the Sabres record drops to ten seven and three and these two teams will get back together again later in the year but you know we were we've been talking about Kirby docked at nauseam he was the game's number one star in it you know we could continue on in the day but I think it I think it bears mentioning that everybody got involved again here tonight not only was curry doc involved but you we talked to Zach Smith in their mission that line was involved Patrick Kane's line involve the power play was involved Jonathan tapes scored a goal and no one some draws and Corey Crawford very good in goal I also saw quite a few shots blocks by Blackhawks defenseman to make sure the Crawford didn't see too too many shots here tonight so everybody bringing something to the mix again and the result is another Blackhawk yeah this is a solid effort in only when you look at the strong one that's been dominating the the scoreboard for the Blackhawks last couple games you you have a better sprinkling broke the line up there Willie picked up his fourth process Brent Seabrook got his first assist of the season dock with a couple goals for the fourth line if you wanna call net chipping in caves picking up his fourth of the season that's always a good sign to have your captain and leader find a way to get some points on the board she's got nine points in the last nine games will things turning.

"Market you look at the hurricane of tall so what do you think about these guys well first of all when you look at their offense they got some decisions to make in terms of who's going to quarterback I believe will be Zach Smith is a transfer from Baylor of self boomers back as well who quarterback seven games forum was effective maybe they use both of Zach Smith is a guy who started for Baylor but was beat out and then has since transferred so you know they they run that type of offense so you know he's capable of doing that you know he's been in the mix and that type of offense of Stokes their top wide receiver number two they've got two running backs twenty four three that two thousand yards each last last year so they want to run the football inside zone outside zone some inserts type things they were run our PO's I think the ball come out quick temple tall so that's what they call them so we'll have to adjust to the tempo we work on it we practice it but it's nothing like scene in the real game in the real thing and you know when the chips on the table so that's them on office on the defensive side of all the use of the bit different scheme three defense alignment number fifteen or defensive ends are tough guy three linebackers twenty three forty two the top guys in there five defensive backs and the sort of player a number let's take defense secretary was in sort of a little bit of a pre vent type thing but they've been susceptible versus the run and will be more difficult to pass against and they'll bring some pressure and things of that nature so they'll be different defense than we've seen so we try to simulate those things the practice of but again they'll be an adjustment to it and then special teams they have an outstanding punter the ray guy award finalist average forty six yards per punt last year so of got to deal with fats in the struggle a little bit maybe to find the kicker but coach Montgomery there Philip Montgomery's this fifth season of Tulsa yet once he's in his second year with it won ten games in and last year the struggle little bit but they were close game so you know I'm sure they're looking to get off to a fast or slow mark you always talk about how the first game is one of the toughest because there's so many unknowns and you got this veteran ball club on both sides of the ball when you make adjustments as this game unfolds tonight this that make it easier well they've been in the thick of it you know so they understand the game tempo but it's still a lot of things you know you think about all the things you need to cover before the first game in a ball security is so important so we've got a lot of live work of said I think that's held to the ball security and things and hopefully you see the result of that in our tackling but you just never know until you play another opponent start evaluating yourself and you know sort of setting the standard for the season and but there's a lot of things going on out there that will need to make sure that we're on top of it you know what'll Beecher unforced errors penalty was a black ball security at the big explosive place well if you take a look at this thing we always talk about the keys a little bit could one of the keys of this game be composure as you try to work through this first game yeah I think composers a big component there you know you got to keep your sense of what's going on you gotta be able handle some adversity and nothing's as easy as it ever seems to be and nor is it ever as hard as it seems to be so somewhere in between there you you know you sort of meet the middle of it but ball security is you know when we get after the quarterback insect the quarterback you know three plus times we win we win eighty six percent of the time when we get the ball close to turn over what was you know we win ninety six percent of the time so if it were thirty six into with that happens you know the key is always be able to run the football you know of forty seems to be the natural mark force but the around that amount and winning the chains and you know stay ahead of the sticks but it all sort of falls into place there are things that are critical to winning but one of the biggest things I think is how to handle problems thirteen time we've done this chat for an opener boy goes fast and it goes fast you know but it's it's it's new every year I think back to the first time around you know I get the same type of feelings that I have today I feel like we can win every single football game if we don't beat ourselves if we do the things that we're capable of doing you know the good things fall behind that mark final thoughts before kick this thing off looking forward to it you know look for to a great crowd I notice it's exciting it presents daily is our honorary captain our new home university president I've been very impressed with him on days like this you know you probably have as many people coming to Michigan State University as any time in the about the year of football Saturday your football Friday night in this case so he exciting looking for to a great crowd I guess I think we have some new plants from game day atmosphere standpoint and in our players the rate plan their side as always I wish you good luck marking open a few hours at postgame chats Goodwin thanks again and go green so for head coach mark Dantonio I will team in the mark Dantonio pregame show has been presented by McLaren health plan one great health plan our sponsor network game day coverage continues with "Day but also yet again that's you know that's what a lot of people are looking for right now Jim I mean what was it again Zach Smith story is is what on that all unfolded from big ten media day last year yeah nobody really had any idea about that or news acts name before that day but once that once the reporter as the question of course that was the big story that followed up and then you know everything unravelled from there Brett make Murphree yep what is Java ESPN would still went to the beach big ten media days still ask that question he's still at home right yeah eighteen what do you do yeah no so you know I again there will always be a few knuckle heads are coming out of left you know coming out of left field with a few questions but again I think most of them are going to be either on that new look offense and and just get this so somewhat about the staff but you know again I think a lot of and we gonna be there's gonna be you know as much as those movers were out last year there's gonna be even more room this year you don't make a right you can make it and if you don't make it this year with knower Meyer not at Ohio state what what would be your excuse some people I think I think people will go hard after those those two topics and then you know there will be questions about the offense I don't think there will be very many about don brown in the defense you know maybe how do you replace someone as good as Devin bush or is it as impactful as Devin bush but other than that I don't see too many focus on the defensive side of the ball so knowing that these things are again usually kind of media bait or you know talk bait you know I see more of them just kind of being negative maybe trying to get a stir at a coach would be my guess yeah you're right of something new I mean something else in college football I mean since we're given of a heads up did you see where Ryan leaf will be calling football games this year for ESPN I why you look at me like no I learned you know I thought you would be it says all to all time if that's not right see I only want to read this Ryan leaf was hired by ESPN as it football finalists and he's gonna be announcing games yeah calling games him in Klay met Mavic they'll be doing games in mostly call the games on ESPN two and ESPN you okay he he he also appears on studio shows to Ryan has experienced that he's had highs and lows and everything like that everybody knows every pretty much everybody knows the Riley story if you don't I'm sorry all I can bring you up to date on it but I mean in our Michigan fan you should know because we did play man that your ninety seven Rose Bowl which a lot of people still talk about so if you don't know the name it's kind of a problem just say it was next Charles with them using on the other side he's got it easy he's got an opportunity to you and me be with ESPN and they they've hired him a good for him I mean he's got three he's had a lot of he said a lot of ghost in his in his past and now he's coming out on the other side so I'm happy for him and me Hey they give they give their giving him an opportunity Jamie is in funny how life comes full circle sometimes yeah because that you know he is known for again the great quarterback to bait him and Peyton manning right and he feels obviously the loser of that debate but then you know the other thing is when he when he sounded off on the reporter in the locker room yeah now one and now he's a reporter for ESPN so you know I nine reporter he's using the analyst I just try to help you out he's a member of the media yeah yes P. N. now and so I you know again I'm at I think it's I think the irony is funny in it I think it's great and again I I don't hold anything against this guy hoping does a good job I'm not I'm in tune in to see how he does I'm going forward to see what he says about teams and different things like that I think he'll do a good job I mean every eight look he is getting an opportunity I hope he takes advantage of it I think he will I think he will and again if he can do half said the college game what we've seen Tony Romo doing the program I mean if he could do something like that I'm just saying he okay right now all of that pressure on that young we I just wanted to be able to call you put a quarter back in the booth it's naturally going to happen from here on out yeah you're right I just like not even but again he just brought a different different dynamic so who knows but again there's been plenty of quarterbacks again we had art Brian Griese he's been doing it for years yeah and how about that done a tremendous job at it he's like he's he he is he gonna stay or is he going to move to the NFL I mean he's been dabbling with the NFL he all day well before the during the opening season the first the first Monday night game they have to usually up a west coast and east coast or eastern standard time and it west was standard at west coast time that being said date they pick up the second game usually Brian his brain and his colleagues they pick up the second game and he's done well he's done really well with those games so I'm really I mean eight could be dabbling with yeah stay with your claim to fame maybe I'm just say a random balloon you are a kid you know again you were you are famous for your college days and he did do it you know had some good years with the bears when he was there for a while but you're known for when you were the Michigan quarterback stick to your bread and butter baby you got this can you get he wants to do a little more NFL the money at I don't know where to save both of them don't seem to be harden but again you're you're working for I guess you'd be working for one of the network's versus ESPN but I'm also you know you could argue that herbs street certainly has that that top spot locked up pretty we're not gonna get that's right right right so that's why you know maybe you hope that if you do make the jump that maybe you could eventually be the guy on the you know with you know Monday night's been changing over their crews in different you know different things like that so maybe you could be the guy over there knowing that again I don't know once taken her free spot on you know ABC or is not a time soon I don't see that either I'm not saying that all I'm saying is is Ryan leaf at eight right we've got a job and he's calling games on ESPN two and ESPN you I mean he may have the mac games I mean you never know I mean what whatever he's got but look it a TV gig and it's nice because we know Ryan Ryan leech food for the guy that was yelling in the locker room haven't haven't breakdowns mental breakdown he went through some stuff even spend the time in prison and now he's come out on the other side and look at him now I mean the opportunity a great opportunity so I'd like I said I just hope he takes advantage of and you had to see your face was like priceless well you like wait what well I know I know I had no idea and you did say Ryan lead someone correct the guy at least that's the guy that I am I see him I said right right yeah not your agora mercy to Ryan leaf leaf I do yeah so no I again Jamie I'm just I'm really happy for him I I think this could be something that he could do a good job at and so I'm I'm excited to see what he can what he can bring to the table and I I like it's not you know they're not throwing them right up front you know it's not like faxes hired him and throwing them in that you know in the middle of their you know prime time games anything like this will have a chance to get a good start when you're working at me as if the answer you Quinn is that Brady Quinn is Brady Quinn the number one foxtrot I think so I think so too but I'm just saying **** Jo clack and fox is trying very hard to catch up to yes the end game day everything that ESPN and has that going on with their college football stuff so I wouldn't be surprised if they continue to try and bring in as many big name people as they can that that seems to be there I'm also far hate what do you perplexed by over had a skateboard you know how he'll leave us this is this lawyer watchin what is San Francisco skateboarders destroyed their bodies add a new event that they have they need to give that even it up well you know what we're meant dangerous why are more as well and let you on one of those bad boys no I I I would let me one of them bad since I would be all the better breweries anywhere you do the random did say it sure you one of them off the main young guy good bounce it's okay you can tell us I am pretty good thousand plus I would have I would have a code on or something because my scraping up my skin I'm sorry that's great that's just craziness where long long passer she was barely back in north K. collect either why is no snow where I work there was no snow box in some of that dirt some other things all kinds of rocks you just step on him in the hopefully you get this moved once you know that's all I mean yeah that's all you you see you're always worried about the stop worrying about it there's always something somewhere thank you Hey just be careful what you The Trials of MakerBot

"So the original replicator was still an open source hardware project. But it would prove to be the last of those and it was in part. The reason why Zac Smith would end up leaving maker, but or being forced to leave maker. But might be the better way to put it. So earlier in two thousand eleven before the replicator had debuted. They actually had a totally different plan to move forward. And that plan was to create a super secret low cost pre assembled maker, but that would be cheap enough for the average consumer and they wanted to aim for a price tag. That would make it about expensive as your typical new video game console. So we're talking like five hundred or six hundred dollars that was a really ambitious goal. And it was something that they didn't think they could manage to do working just out of the United States. They called this project the mass market maker. But proje-. Act or m triple m so to achieve this goal, Zac. Smith took a small team of engineers, and he went to China to set up a manufacturing strategy that would meet their needs because manufacturing in China is way less expensive than in the United States. Even when you factor in international shipping do be saving a lot more money per unit. So in the fall of two thousand eleven while Smith is in China working on this breed Pettus back in the United States was getting impatient. He wanted to have something to show off at CAS. He had recently received quite a bit of money in venture capital for for maker. But and he felt like the updates to the maker. But the mass market maker device were sporadic and not nearly giving him enough progress each time he was getting one. So he decided to put his Brooklyn team of engineers on a new task to develop a brand new printer in time. Time for CAS, which again happens in January. So as a super condensed time line now eventually breed Pettus decided to go with the New York based design over the one that Zac Smith and his team were working on China, and it was a much more expensive approach because it was nearly eighteen hundred dollars one thousand seven hundred fifty bucks. So that was a reversal on that original strategy. They had leading up to see ES twenty twelve or they were going to try and make a really affordable three d printer for the average person. So the device the company showed off was more of a pro simmer device something that someone who is going to use it for professional purposes might be able to to spend that kind of money, but your average consumer wasn't going to drop nearly two thousand dollars on three D printer that they barely knew. How it worked and April two thousand twelve maker, but chose formerly to shut down its China operation entirely. Zac Smith was understandably frustrated he really found himself at odds with Brie Pettus. They had. Strong disagreements on the direction of the company, and according to Zach Smith, and it is on words, he said he was forced out of the company he had co founded because his vision of where the company should go was not compatible with where brief Pettus wanted the company go and breathe in the role of CEO at this point by mid two thousand twelve Zac Smith would leave maker bought he ended up traveling back to China, and he was fascinated at the bustling manufacturing industry over in China. And also he was really excited because he would have access to very cheap parts there is that the language barrier was a bit of a challenge, but he could get all the different stuff you would need to build the kind of devices he like building for much less money than it would cost him in the United States. So he he lived in China for a while he would continue working with the rep rep project, but he chose to divorce himself entirely from maker. But so he was the. The first of the three co founders to leave the company now, according to the interviews and articles I could find from around this particular time in maker bots history. Breeze had sort of a emerged at this point as the face of the company out of necessity. He had already achieved a following in the maker community because of his work with make magazine. So it seemed like a natural transition to make him sort of the voice and the face of maker..
