"Podcast listeners kind of in the rhythm now by this point of the off season. What we do is we record live Monday nights, Wednesday nights and Friday afternoons and some of you, of course, come and join us during those live shows and run YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, wherever it is that you catch the show. Other people just listen to the podcast version, which means they typically listen on Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Saturdays, no live show tonight, so I'm not gonna be doing a typical question and answer format, but there's some topics going on in the world of the Los Angeles Lakers that I wanted to talk about. And I also wanted to put out a video that I did earlier today today being Tuesday. I want to put that out in a podcast format as well because it sums up a lot of my thoughts about the Lakers guard position and where I see them going this summer, the skill sets they need to look at, how Austin Reeves might fit in. Should Russell Westbrook be on his way out the door. So I'm going to include that at the end of this episode. So that's going to be in here as well. But first, I need to talk about three big topics here, and this is Zach lavine to the Lakers room. I need to get into Phil Jackson getting involved in the coaching search and some things that LeBron has been doing on social media. So those are the big topics before I dive into them. First quick, quick reminder, we really appreciate everybody who's taken the 30 seconds or so that it takes to submit a rating and review over on Apple podcast, truly appreciate it great, great way to help out the show. And again, it takes a very, very small amount of time to do so. Or if you're over on Spotify, give us a rating over there as well, wherever it is that you listen to podcasts. Again, we really do appreciate that. And I love reading all the reviews. They are so fantastic. And if anybody wants to submit a question in those reviews too, I will answer those on the show. So again, check out that over on Apple podcast. If you want to leave a question in a review, go ahead and I'll answer it on the show..

"And I think that showed, I think that showed in closing out games. I think Memphis trailed by ten or more in the fourth quarter or at least the second half of three games in this series and then they managed to win all three of those games. So that's obviously a huge for them. And I think you saw the walls get a little panicky down the stretch while there was car Anthony towns took about a 35 foot three pointer at one point with about a minute or so to play. That was just, it was just not a good time place for that shot. They make a lot of sense and he missed by a mile. So yeah, I just went in there and got it done, but the most entertaining series of the first round, I think, without a doubt. There was the one blowout game in there, but other than that, it was close games up and down, a lot of action, a lot of crazy stuff happened, and two fun young teams that you kind of look at those two in the pelicans. And if they can handle things right, that's kind of the future of the Western Conference, I think. With those three teams of, hey, just retain your guys, build the right teams around them. And you can see those three teams doing stuff for years to come in the west. Yeah, absolutely. I really enjoyed this series and not because it was the most beautiful basketball because it certainly was not. But it was just, it was close games, these two teams got after each other. It was super competitive, and then of course you had the comeback element, right? In most of these games, the wolves were happy. They're yelling and screaming and fired up and doing all that kind of stuff. And then come fourth quarter that doubts started to creep in. They start missing shots, they tighten up, and then here's the Memphis Grizzlies, grizzlies just kind of stayed within arms like the entire game stayed right there and then overtook them in the fourth quarter and we saw that game script play out a number of times and credit to the grizzlies for being the team that, you know, as a young team themselves, but having the composure and the experience to ultimately get the job done. And I'm excited to see grizzlies warriors. I think that's going to be a really good series. Yeah, I completely agree. We're going to get to that one in a minute, one thing because I just don't want to lose it is. That sense of how the grizzlies just keep coming is going to be huge for them in a series against the warriors because the warriors, they're not the warriors right there. They're not quite that team, but they're not far off that team either where they can kind of hit you with that avalanche. And the next thing you know, you're down 15 in a three minute period and you're like, what happened? But the grizzlies just, they just keep coming, they just keep working. That's going to be big for them in that series..

"Them. So that's the difficult thing is like you could make a trade, you probably should make a trade just because you never know when you'll get this opportunity again. But I don't know who it makes them a favorite over, even if they do swing a trade like that. And I don't think they have the firepower to go out and get someone more high level than that either. I guess they just have to clone IO de sumo, who's like, I love him so much. I can't believe that he was a second round pick. It'd be funnels me. I don't watch college basketball, really, but I'm just like, how did every team in the league plus like first team all American? I think, too. Was it the star score there? Incredible. He's done all the stuff that he wasn't able to do at the college while he's just been like a beast defensively he's high energy. He's perfect for that team and I love that he's plays with a ton of high energy seemingly because he knows that's his way to stay on the floor. They don't really need him to score a whole lot with who they've got on this team. I love it. I love the way plays. Yeah, I was watching they barely beat the thunder the other night and only because he was going toe to toe with SGA and then he fouled out and the bulls just fell apart. And it was just like yikes. This is not a good sign if you or the Chicago Bulls right now, depending so much on a 22 year old Ricky. Where they're at right now. Then team. That is where they're at right now. Okay, let's move on to this really interesting email from Dan who writes, is there a trade construction for the nuggets and the Celtics to swap Jamal Murray and Michael Porter junior plus maybe some picks for jaylen Brown and Marcus smart? The nuggets have an MVP and should be in wind now mode, Brown and smart seem to be a clean fit in Denver. The Celtics, on the other hand, are not contenders and can wait for Murray and MPJ to get healthy. They desperately need a guard slash player who can create for his teammates and Jamal is definitely an upgrade in playmaking for them. What do you think? Really interesting email Dan. I don't think this will ever happen and I don't think either team would say yes. But it's actually just like an incredible fake theoretical trade idea for all the reasons that Dan outlines. What do you think about this with? No, no, no. I was actually gonna kind of tennis strike this back in your direction because I know the outcome of this would matter a lot more to you than me, but I loved the concept of it. I was kind of with you where I don't know that either team does it. I think Denver probably just believes in their ability to rehab those guys and bring them back and it's not to say you ever want to waste a year of someone's run, but what can you really do? Those are your guys. You definitely trust in Jamaal Murray. You've seen that concept play out in work already. I don't know that you want to replace that. And get someone that's not a guard really. I mean, obviously, Jalen Brown can play their wing position. But you've got a point guard already, and now you're kind of just replacing that..

"I would too, you would need truth serum. I also think that if you gave Kyrie a long-term contract, you could to be cynical about it. You could pull a Blake Griffin and just trade him as soon as possible on the contract, knowing that there's a little bit more value, but then again, I really could retire. It's just such a mess, such a thorny situation, and I don't know how they're going to navigate it. My last question for you, Chris about the nets before we move on is just over under .5 championships for Brooklyn over the next 5 years. Are you going over are you going under? Under. Under. Wow. Yeah. I mean, 'cause we got all this stuff. We just discussed about what we don't know about them. And it's putting a lot on Katie's shoulders and remember when we did the top 100 for the guys in the league right now. I was the only one that didn't take KDE and it was strictly a health question. And that was before we knew that he was going to have to carry a lot of weight on his shoulders, potentially this year because of the stuff with Kyrie because Hardin was going to struggle at the beginning of the season. I think it's irrelevant question. And even if KD can carry them on his back for a season of postseason, do you want him to have to do that? Is he starts to get older? He's not a young guy anymore. So I don't want to go off on a tangent or divert from our scheduled outline. But I'm just curious because you brought up the top 100 and steadfast belief in Giannis was really smart and prescient. If you had to, if we were doing that right now, who would be number one for you on the top 100? I'd probably still take Giannis. I mean, I would be a lot more open to considering jokic to number one, which I don't think really did. I think you have to be open to that. You'll get you jokic. He was my number one. Four was he 5? I can't remember where he was. Was he 6? Fourth or 5th? I hope he wasn't 6. I hope he wasn't. I think he was, but I think we probably had LeBron three. And then miyoko was probably right. So yeah, I mean, jokic probably needs to be number two in that conversation. And KD, again, Joker seems to be there two or three, but I think that Katie, you could make the argument always these number one if he's healthy. But I just kind of had the question of whether we can rely on that at this point in his career. Yeah, very and it's proven accurate. He's hurt and, you know, tough situation. I think I'd go jokic for the record in no disrespect. We're not blame you at all. It's hard to disagree. Hard to..

"Do they need? A center, you could play him 25, 30 minutes a night right now on this team and who cares if you lose games, but you'd be developing him and you'd be doing that moving forward. They've got tons of picks, but they've got to turn those picks into something. And right now, the only something they've really got is Shay Gil just Alexander. We'll see what happens with Katie. I do like giddy. I think he's going to be good moving forward. I like him too. He just can't. Yeah. And so you need to find those pieces, which is easier said than done. Because everybody's trying to fight shooting. Yeah. And we're going to talk the Lakers in a little bit, but one of the things a Lakers are going through with their own pains is, in today's MBA, you can't play more than one non shooter at a time. Yeah. It's just it's too hard to create and find good offense. On the warrior side since we talked about them and they won this game. They do not win this game without Damian Lillard off the bench 20 points. He really was came in and helped stabilize and get them into it. As much as it hurts me because our guy Jordan Poole. He was better than Jordan Poole, was in this game, but 7 assists for Jordan Poole, and that speaks to a bigger thing with the warriors. 30 assists on 39 baskets, which is, you know, that's the word impressive stuff. And that's how they get it done, but I don't want to talk about this game anymore. Let's move on to another pad came Dallas and Dallas and Houston oh man. So the Mavs pick up the win one 16 to one O 6, which you would expect. Again, though, the Mavs, they rely on a massive massive output from Lucas 26.14 board 7 assist two steels. That's the recipe for success in the in man's land. I mean, look, it's pretty much wherever Luca takes us. That's where we're going to go. If Luca has an off night, we're losing, if Luke has a good night, then we've got a shot to win games, and that's overly reliant on one player for my liking. As good as he is. And we also see Kristoff's porzingis go down with a back injury, how severe it is, we don't know. It sounds like it was more of a precautionary thing. But only 9 points for him, three rebounds. He definitely has not. We were hoping this was gonna be kind of a bounce back year for him, have not seen that so far up to this point. You did get 16 points out of Tim Hardaway. Junior, but before we jump to the rockets, I figured we should start here. Reggie Bullock to get 16 points, including four of 9 from deep. So that was nice to see even coming in on the ventilator. And a lot of Mavs fans are saying, well, why are you running Reggie Bullock off the badge when the whole point was to put shooting around Luca and now you're not playing him with Luca? Jason Kidd, what's happening? Yeah, I mean, they're not going to play Chris steps at the 5. So that means you have to play another defensive guy, which is why Finney Smith gets in there. I think they're also leery of going, although you're not going to be necessarily small in terms of height, but Bullock and Hardaway are not rebounders in porzingis is not a good rebounder. So you're really putting the pressure on Luke I mean, he had 14 in this game, but your impression on him and then whatever 5 is in the game generally joy Powell to start games to do everything on the boards then. At least Finney Smith will get on the boards a little bit. He's probably, yeah, I'm not gonna say probably. He's the best defensive player on this team. So I think that is also why you're just not going to see regulators start. But yeah, there's room for me. The two with him in Hardaway around, Luke, can you mention Luca was very bold on? I thought when he came in because Houston plays with two bigs a lot, whether it be Tyson and wood to start or Schengen him would or Tyson Schengen on occasion. They'll go with two bigs. This was a good spot to get ball bond in there. 11 points on 5 of 5 shooting just kind of did the unleashes. But Jalen Brunson really did 11 assists off the bench for him, he really came in and was running the offense. Going well, those minutes he can give them with Luka or so important too. Because that allows Luke to just kind of take a possession or too long. Yeah. On offense. It's just hard because you're not going to get any traction defensively with those two in the game. So it's a weird roster construction for Dallas, a little bit. I feel like maybe there's a trade coming later that will reset. Things. But so much of it is just prison. I guess we're lying. In what's rough is he had just played a pretty good game. And now we're right back to where you see her and we'll see what ultimately happens with him, but it's like the definition of one step forward two steps back with that guy kind of for what 5 years running now it feels like. On the rocket side, they're bad, but at least I'm like, okay, see who I just ripped. They're bad with the purpose. That's a pretty good vision, and they're really fun watch. Just be careful if you sit close to the floor in a rocket game because there's going to be balls sailing up into the crowd because they don't all over the gym. They play, they get up and down. They need the netting, like in baseball. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, you might definitely need that. Ugly shooting night for jaylen green and Kevin Porter, junior. They kind of is what it is. Christian wood, it's going to go unnoticed. I think this year, but he's putting up some numbers. They're just going to be so bad and I don't know that people are going to pick up on it. Chin get not his best name off the band chum. And then I'm looking forward to sometime in the next few months when Eric Gordon and DJ Augustine are gone, nothing against those two guys. Just there's no role for them on this rockets team. I'm like Daniel tyce, who serves a role as the third big with their younger bigs. Those two guys it just doesn't make a lot of sense for them to be there, especially Gordon, eating up those wing wing minutes. Off ball wing minutes. It's just that I don't know. I'd rather see at this point our Monte Brooks, Josh Christopher, better see those guys in the Gordon. But this is about making sure teams know. Hey, Gordon's, he's healthy. He's good and good for him while he is healthy. Yeah, I'd imagine that every GM in the NBA had got a text message last night from the Houston Rockets and all it was was just a screenshot of Eric Gordon's stat line from last night, 22.7 for 11 shooting three of 5 from three. And then maybe a little something saying like, want to talk train, right? Like this is exactly what you want to showcase to other teams before you're going to move a guy at 22 point outing. He was a plus 13 on the night, which was a team high. But you mentioned Kristen would great stuff for him. 17 and 16. He's one of my guys in the NBA where I think he can be a lot better. I think he would be on a good team, he'd be getting a lot more recognition for how good he really is, but on the rockets you don't get quite as much attention because they're bad team and they continue to lose jaylen green, had a big night, a couple of nights ago, but was not as effective tonight for for 16 shootings. Yeah. He's a rookie. That's what rookies do. But still very excited. And then not great the next. All right, let's get to New York. Let's do it. Lakers and spurs. I think the big story out of this at the top is Anthony Davis late and regulation bang means and for a minute, stayed in, played the entirety of the over time. After the game, he said it was just a little stinger, Frank Vogel. Knowingly, right, especially on the first night of a back to back, was very feels in the morning. But sounds like he avoided anything serious, which is clearly really important the Lakers the last thing they need is another guy injured. It's getting to the point of absurdity with the number of players out. LeBron sat out and what he's saying, it's nothing big. This is I like to have vocal centers. We're prepared for America. Yeah. In that there's no reason to play him. In a game, spurs are frisky in their tough, but you feel like you should win without him. I have to wonder too. I'm curious to get your thoughts on this. If we talked a lot about why you go get Russell Westbrook is so when one or two of the other guys is missing you have one or two to still there, I get to wonder if Vogel was a little bit like, all right, LeBron's banged up and off the sitting is probably the right thing to do, but let's get a look what it can look like if we let Russ cook with the ball in his hands. It was that baby part of the thinking.

"It's questionable last two seasons before last season you have a solid if no press three pointer if you leave in that possibility and you think that you can find some other thing to package with al horford. Whether it's oliver picks that they will conceivably want or a young talent or both. Who knows you could construct something like this again. I'm not real crazy about it. Because there's a lot of ifs and a lot of things will go right in terms of of him playing celtics as well but for plausible candidates. It's one of the ones that can think of besides ones we've already talked about. I think you just talked me into it. I think alex with the bosch thing did It's expensive but mary okay. Well i mean. I'm gonna go now because i have a raptors related one but i was pretty low on sacramento thinking through this financially. This is a little iffy and would need a few months. Four contracts to allow. But here's what i came up with. fred vanfleet goes to the celtics. Josh richardson the bonus and a celtics. First round or go to toronto. Siaka in schroeder go to indiana and myles turner gets dumped till like. Okay see or something of indiana feels like a team that needs to make a trade because they're really expensive this doesn't alleviate that problem really for them but it does feel like a team that has a few redundant visas a few overpaid pieces and needs to make a move. I don't actually think that they're gonna ship outspokenness and turner but wonder if they could addition by subtraction. Talk themselves into crm and through all of that. The celtics get Benfleet which is the cheapest mos- low rents super team. I could possibly come up with. But i'll cheap and i'll say also jason. Tatum just became an mvp candidate. And there's your super team. So i have sexier trades that i think will more qualify for the frame that i myself offered but that was my related trade to that rubs and i got robbed twice first by sermons then by alcs sorry shawn subject coming to me you. Great great minds think alike as you said or there's just not that many people to trade for right now so i'm gonna go next just because my next trade is related to the one. I just laid down. I really that indiana is gonna do something sometime because that's not a team that loves to spend and it's just been an intensely expensive team. I think the smart money is on them breaking up turner and bonus and also because miles turner's overpaid. But i have something that does not necessarily do that. Which is that. The celtics trade for malcolm. Brogden they trade. To indiana schroeder richardson smith and as many first round picks as it takes while not as like to but to maybe to swap to go get malcolm brogden in terms of salary. It's cl- cutting it close and might be kind of complicated for the celtics. But i do think it's possible. So that is my framework for a big old trade. And i actually. I have another big straight. I'll say that for that. very end. broaden the stunned stunts islands kissing brogden wonderful player. I just wish he could stay healthy. But i'm always down for some malcolm braga that dude's tough as nails and pretty good at a variety of aspects of the game on the streets of jalen brown last summer Protesting against systemic racism on the big selling point with that plantar fasciitis does scare me..

"One in four point one six would've been you know something that could fit into the key allowing them to use some of that flexibility of created with its hiring contracts onto hernan gomez for example to cut salary. Maybe if you need to continue to waive salary could even get rid of al's contract you we want but you know there are ways that you could bring him on that come. Credibly expense team with the celtics have structured their contracts this off season. And the whole idea of this is that you you believe in gordon's defense and you believe in his ability to to at least come along acceptably as an offensive threat and some way to fit in boston system. And we've got a lot of fans out there. Jeered weiss of the atlantic from the bud is definitely a big fan of his idea. But it's not going to happen to a for what it's worth is only twenty six. I believe which feels impossible I also don't think it's going to happen because of the rules but denver is a team that is going to be very expensive and expensive teams. That don't win. Run into problems. So i think i don't think the names i'm about to say qualify or ruin any of our ideas but like john wall. Ben simmons may be dame maybe michael junior or joe-marie eventual domino's that stir the pot perhaps for me reasons but I have other dominoes. That i to say for my idea altoona. Gophers would you like to do the big sexy trade. That's not going to happen or not quite as sexy trait that maybe maybe maybe could have happened but prop spilled it up. Yeah okay all. My trades are sexy. What do i do fair enough. All right give me just so the trade that i have the the less sexy maybe slightly more plausible trade Is this so. I was thinking about big. Three's of the past and the big three..

And we're gonna get into that in just a moment specifically the stuff related to zach levine. But that got us thinking if not bradley beal. If not zach levine. Than who exactly could the celtics go out and get to build a super team in boston. So in the lab.

"In this counting report. The ideal environment will allow him to be a complimentary offensive player who scores off screens and spot ups a high tempo team that places. An emphasis on spreading the floor with their big men would give us the platform to flourish. Yeah that's exactly what which again lends credence my idea that i think he is going to be just like ping pub perimeter. Yeah okay number four okay. This one's this is probably the oldest one. Okay this is from us net. Which i don't even know what that is. But then i'll tell you how old is athletically. He's outstanding. He could become a terrific defender in the nba with his athletic ability. He does everything at a high level. He's a leaper. He has to work on his jump shooting and his ball handling and develop a better feel for the game. He's a lottery pick. that'd probably didn't help very much. No i mean there's a couple of players that came to my mind just today anderson. No wait let me read. One are okay. He can dunk but what else could be something special justin anderson. Don't tell me you don't tell me that brandon right now older. Yeah yeah i'm trying to think. Do you give up gerald green. No oh man okay. I'll give you one more clue. He was compared to michael jordan. That ain't michael finley. No okay vince carter. Oh that yeah how. He played for the absolute. We did shane here. Yeah all right. What a terrible scout. Yeah well he can dunk but what else so one. Another one i read was. He entered college as an athlete. He left as a basketball player like he was poetic. Yes there is a lot of to jordan but mostly because he was super athletic and had that same bond anyplace north carolina. Yeah okay. I was read the name of the just so i can prepare myself. How many of these have to endure. There's seven total. Okay all right because these are heart. Endured heart i gonna use brainpower. Okay sorry okay. The well used line. He can guard any position on the court is an over simplification of his defensive abilities. And won't be completely true when he reaches the nba. He can handle more defensive situations with a wider range of players than most big men. Can if you defense a guard wing on the perimeter or in pick and roll. He possesses the foot speed to keep up with a good number of them the length to compensate for those he can't and the defensive instincts to make the possession tougher than most big man. His age can having a big man who can defend the pick and roll and chan were no. He was a little bit on parenting. And if and on the perimeter as well as he can will be a huge boon for.

"Again the sixers. Let's say they need to make they wanna make a deal but they can't make it work because they have tobias harris huge contract so they will say hey we have an opportunity to trade for jrue holiday but we gotta unload tobias harris find a team that will take him and so i think the mavericks would be that kind of team for and that was just one team the sixers. I think there's a bunch of other teams out there that the mavericks can help be that facilitating team. Gordon hayward for example if the celtics wanted to make yes i think that's where the mavericks will benefit. So you know what i'm saying. That a trade package with hardaway like that straight up. That's the trae the mavs do on their own without being a facilitator. I just don't know if i mean i. Maybe i don't know. I mean i just think that Trading hardaway first round overall pick. Is that person going to be that much better than hardaway. I think is probably enough to maybe get victor oladipo. Thirty million dollars is really an asset trade peace because then it that is expiring and so now you have cap space going into next summer. So they're not just going to give all depot away now if he had two years left. It's a completely different story. But the fact that his thirty million is expiring and that team can go into twenty twenty one with thirty million fallen off their books to me that makes him a lot more valuable. Because now you're it's a really low risk high reward. Because what if he's back to the old victor oladipo where you can just sign him well and that's one.

"I also think that he would fit well next to luca because he can't shoot the three efficiently by the thirty s. And you could probably even say that will go up. A couple percentage points. Because it's going to be getting a lot of more catching and shoot. Yeah yeah yeah. No i understand that. I think you're from a guy that's gotten better every single year. Yeah he has jumped so you can tell. He's working hard. He's endured injuries. He's endured bad. Teams bad coaches bad systems and for him to still be who he is just if he just has one good coach and one good system he may really thrive and maybe i will change my pick from jrue holiday. Zach levine will exit your holiday but the We're talking about his act because we know who drew quality. There's so much slander against live. And because i disagree with that. I feel like i'm a little inclined to go even further on to the other side normally would like i. Don't think zach levine. Fit is perfect like obviously defensively. He's on a very good defender And i think that he's not like this whole again going actually narrative of him being just volume scorer. That i don't think is true at all. I think offensively he would fit perfectly. And like yeah. He's a number-one option right now. But that's because and that's where some right and that's where some of the slander has come on the offensive side. As if luca would be second fiddle. Yes we would take the ball away at come on no well first of all just okay. Strictly taking the ball away from luca. We already want the kind of player to wear. Luca doesn't have to handle the ball the time no. I'm not saying. I wanted to go in the opposite direction like his rookie year when we were yelling. Why is lucas standing in the corner. Like that. I don't want but i think they're at a point where they understand. Luca is top dog. They just seen another guy that can also make plays with the ball. I don't think it's a matter of taking the ball of lucas hands to give him a rest or anything like that. I think you continue to run. The offense threw him just like you have already been but just now when he passes it to somebody. Somebody else can make a plan. And he's not depending on making every single play. Yeah i think that's what's important. I think you saw glimpses of that. Would trey burke really. That's what they need is a second wing guy guard. That can make a play when he has the ball in his hands. Yeah and that's really. I think levin levin can do that he's proven that he can do then defensively he has liabilities offensively. I don't see any issues especially with working in carlisle system. The fast paced they possessions. So i i don't see that as an issue yeah. He's an efficient scoring talked about the effective field. Goal percentage his pick and roll points per possession is point eight nine which is about middle of the pack really. Luka was at one point zero four which he was like top five so you can kind of see some context there and so yeah and he also can play off the ball now. Obviously he doesn't do that a look. 'cause who else is gonna have the ball but he can do that. Yeah i mean. I think offensively it's if fit but yeah defensively in those respects. Jrue holiday would be better victor ola depot. So he's radically yes. Theoretically it's hard to know he had the injuries have good defensive and he wasn't himself so theoretically victor oladipo would also be better defender really. I think probably drew holiday. And best case scenario victor depot would be the better options..

"Easier of trae brick was able to do that. Imagine if it were jrue holiday where levin. And i think any player right now. That's playing with luca better. Just because of luca. Being on the court tim hardaway. I know his points per game were. He's averaging twenty points per game exactly efficiency the impact. His points have on the game. They actually contribute to winning basketball. And so i think. Pudding a levine. A jrue holiday of victory depot into that system. Who is proven you know is more proven player than trey burke. Yeah yeah i'd be able to throw is not as good as he was with luca he played in the last five six the way they thought he was going to be when he got draft. Exactly yeah and so. I think playing with luca will make that players job easier one because of like you said the gravitational pull of but also how good luca is and being able to play off of that player or or get him shots an and then to like you said carlisle system again going back to these guys zach. Living's never played really aninat system like the mavericks or with a coach like carlyle. And i think he's had four different coaches so he he needs some stability some legit coaching. He seems to be coach. Able he didn't get along well with jim boylan. Yeah but who did. Honestly if you saw. The guy didn't even call a timeout. When he had to injure the opposing team had to call a timeout. so there was the mavericks. Yeah in and for him to get through the jim boylan era without a lot of controversy. I think it shows that he's more mature than it appears. Yeah that's what i was going to say is lake. Think about all the stuff that came out that we heard about jim boylan and just crazy things that went on and i never really heard a whole lot of trouble. From zack levine. Like yeah there was the time when boiling time out with ten seconds left when they were down by. Twenty zach levine. They showed him on the bench and he was like what that means. Is you let it leak. That's the worst that we ever saw or heard about. Zach levine and i mean other things behind the scenes that we don't know who did or said what but you know for him to come out of that with no major drama or damage to his reputation. I think he handled that situation..

Hoops cast if you prefer youtube. If that's the easiest way you're free to listen okay. We have a lot to talk about because we just found out today that the trademark torian officially ends tomorrow. That's monday at eleven. Am central time So the mavericks have already been linked to some trade targets and so gonna talk about that and then make some predictions for what we think are gonna happen for the mavericks and then move onto some draft stuff. But i i want to talk to you about ziprecruiter just no. We don't have ads on this show thrown out and say. When did this story. I got you got you got a free app. No we don't we don't. We don't do ads okay. So let's get into trade predictions first and then we'll do the stuff later on All right so the moratorium tomorrow at eleven. Am the mavericks have been linked to like four or five years. Yeah well but what seemed solid. So far is victor. Ola depot drew. Holiday zach levine. Tobias harris and spencer dinwiddie now tobias harris was a little while ago. But i'm leaving him on the list because it was mentioned. They are interested in him so i i wanted to do what. Which player do you want the most and then we'll do. What do you think the mouths will actually do. Who do you think the mave will actually get so between those players. Only depot holiday levin harrison dinwiddie. Which one do you want the most. I guess i would say probably jrue holiday. Because he is. At least he's known for being a really good defender. He's a veteran. He has been in some big moments in the past not really. He's been on a lot of teams that really just haven't been as good as sort of mediocre exactly. Yeah i think given the chance on a better team you'll be able to see he'll probably get more recognition but i would say drew holiday behind. That would be zach levine. Yeah i think holiday also fits really. Well i think his playmaking ability obviously his off. the ball. play is very good. I mean obviously you can tell from this list that the mavericks are going after a secondary plumbing which i think is smart because i mean poor. Porzingas is a really great player. But he's not a playmaker in the sense of like what a guard. And i think that's what. The mavericks need next to luca. Obviously what they're going for and you saw the benefit of having a playmaker when you had trey burke even though it was just for a short period of time and he played out of his mind but if you put a quality playmaker next to luca it opens up the floor it really. We've seen so many players come into carlisle system and they are better than before. Yeah and so if you were to get a legit quality. Secondary playmaker next to luca. He should thrive in this system. Yeah i think that that says a few things that trey burke point one. That playing next to luca. We'll make that guy's job easier so if you look at guys like really all of these guys all depot will already played with westbrook. But he's a totally different player than luca. Holidays zach levine. They haven't played with a guy like luca a lot of times. They're the number one point. See how playing with a guy like luca how that can make his job..

"The town's Andrew Wiggins and Zach Lavine exactly happened his last off of Minnesota like it's in stock right in the head scratcher for me, though, Jeff is That worldwide Weston Leon Rose are the new structure for the New York Knicks in their front office. Did they even talk to Mark Jackson Jackson's become the Brian Billick of coaching candidates, isn't it? Seriously like like mark every time you look around, Stephen A said, how come Mark Jackson that he would be a perfect coach for New York? Okay, because he's from New York that need the actual city has nothing to do with it. It's about where that a coach can get the most out of his players. And so Mark Jackson still without an opportunity, But yet Thibodeau gets his third opportunity. I just I always look at him as a to be maybe to see but as far as trying to get the mix into relevance That's going to be on Leon Rose and worldwide West based on personnel even more so than a new head coach. Our good friend George Sedano, who, of course, the sideline work for the N BA hosted return. To the end before earlier this afternoon on ESPN radio and had this to say about how Thibodeau will fit in New York, bringing tips you know where they're going to hang their hat on and that's on defense. And ifyou're Julius Randle, if you're r J. Barrett, ifyou're those guys, I mean, Mitchell Robertson shouldn't have to worry about defense. But nor Frank Aquino. But ifyou're those guys, Kevin knocks You better get ready to work. Okay, Because that's he's gonna bring accountability. He's going to make you hang your hat on defense. They're going to be tough. It's going to take him maybe a minute to kind of get those guys on the same page. But I do think that it will be in those guy's best interest. Long term. I do also think that Tibbs Hopefully has learned right from some of the issues he's had in the past where maybe kind of running guys down a little bit too much, you know, playing heavy, heavy heavy minutes on certain guys, particularly guys who may have some injury histories or injury issues. But I do think that guys can learn from that. I think that people evolve right, so I'm excited. I do think it brings Some added attention to the Knicks, and maybe some really stability to the franchise from a coaching perspective and accountability for that matter, too. You know the weird thing about the Minnesota time? With Fido and you and I spent a lot of time discussing this in our shows How bad that timber wolves were defensively under Fido. Remember that? That was like the ultimate conundrum because yes, he did. Preach a certain level of defense in Chicago. But then, when he got full control in Minnesota, their defense just fell off the map. And so did his coaching career in Minneapolis because they were stopped anybody. You would watch a game and then see at the end of the night, where the Timberwolves gave up 105 110 115 points a game. And if I'm an owner of a gentleman's jump thinking Well, if your defensive guru how come we can't stop anybody? You're in the Western Conference, since it's a much more difficult conference for you to be able to Go through, Jeff, but I mean They were horrible. And Karl Anthony towns is a really good player, but he wasn't guard guard guard anybody and Andrew Wiggins. The thing that he's most interested in is video games and gummy Berg going bears. Me. I mean, that guy's underwhelmed since he's been in the league for me. I think he could be a much better player. I just I just don't know how just because he's offensive minded coach that the defense is going to get better. You need players in order for that to happen in the next Don't have that yet. We'll talk to someone coming up next. That knows Tom Finito very well and he'll help explain the Knicks. Latest head coaching. Hire that straight ahead..
