"I think with the off season and kind of learning the intricacies of playing linebacker, he could completely take off as a sophomore. This is a guy who I think was still learning the position. He played a lot of running back in high school. So I think Ellis staff in Matt house and Ethan's coordinator did a great job of playing to Harold Perkins drinks and kind of unleashing him in like a heavy blitzing pass rushing role. So I think if he has a full off season to really settle in, learn the defense, we could see just a highly impactful, incredible linebacker. He was arguably the best linebacker in the country as a true freshman. And I'm not even sure he would really knew what he was doing out there. He's just so athletic. And then you had Kuwait at number 9. It's rare when you only see one Alabama player in the top ten, but he certainly part of a union. I want to ask you about one player right outside the top ten. And that's a judgment from all this. So this is a guy that nobody saw coming and he is exploded into one of the best offensive weapons in the country. Yeah, yeah. To hit on Kool-Aid real quick, I mean, Kool-Aid, I think just phenomenal ball skills. He had 17 pass breakups, so he was the guy who I think sing it back to him in high school, he was a phenomenal receiver. I'm not sure he would have wouldn't have been Alabama's best receiver if he had played there last year, but yeah, like Paul, Quincy on Jenkins was phenomenal. I think he was the breakout star of the SEC last year, at least on offense. He was our offensive true freshman of the year last year and you think about going to the season. Everybody was talking about Zac Evans, the TCU transferred former 5 star. Quincy junkins outplayed Zach Evans last year. I think he had over 1500 rushing yards. It seemed like he had a 150 yards every week. A guy who was not as heralded, like you mentioned, but he was a top target for lane kiffin, and they got him out of Alabama. He was phenomenal last year. The guy who forces a ton of this tackles. He's just not going to blow you away from a size or speed perspective, but very instinctive and maximizes yardage and really kept old misses offense churning last year in games that they needed to win. Charles, I think it's interesting. You see two Penn State players in the top ten, but hold that thought because I want to ask you about that in a minute as well as some other players. And we welcome some of you who have been watching the NCAA softball tournament. We are in a conversation here about the top hundred players in the game as we are 100 days out on the college football season. We are chatting with Charles powers from on three. Charles, I mentioned Penn State, there are a minute ago. They have struggled to get into the playoffs. However, this year we have two of the top ten players in the country, I'm curious just in terms of that and what else they have and what the likelihood perhaps they could make a run at the Big Ten. Yeah, I'm really high on Penn State's talent nucleus. They have a ton of young talent and I think it's guys who are sophomores juniors once you had breakout freshman years there. I think they're going to make the Big Ten east very interesting this year. You start off with old fashion. I think he would have had a chance to be the top offensive tackle drafted in this draft. He chose to come back for his senior year. Caitlin king is the number two corner behind Kool-Aid mckinstry. I think drew aller is one of the most important players in college football, the former 5 star quarterback who is the presumed starter taking over for Sean Clifford. So he's a guy who I think could really take off in his first year as a starter. And then I think they have probably the best running back duo in the country to true sophomores, Nick singleton, former 5 star. I think he's the guy who could take off and maybe if pince makes a run be in the Heisman race and catron Allen, they were both like really upgraded Penn State's Russian game. You remember what Penn State's offense was like in 2021. They could barely run the ball at all. They were in the ball really well last year with two true freshman running back. So I think the Big Ten east is going to be a really fun to watch with Michigan returning up to college while playoff, Ohio State's always loaded. And I think Penn State is kind of an ascending team, at least from a talent perspective. They have to do on the field, but they're one I'm watching for sure as a potential college football playoff sleeper. Fantastic conversation with Charles pallor from on three. We really appreciate that. We're not done. We're only beginning quite frankly at first few minutes of the program and we'll talk in a minute about that NLRB situation with Darren heitner. John clay, I'm Mark stoops, and can this be the year and Nicole will join us later on as well. Your phone calls in just a few minutes. We're coming

"Beddit? I just think like, I think some people never got the walk on thing out of their head with him. You know what I mean? Like, I just feel like, again, I'm not a scout. I'm not trying to be a scout. But I did talk to some teams that liked him. And I remember having this discussion where it was, well, you see him in the SEC and he's running away from like 5 star pass rushers and getting away from them. And he's throwing the ball off platform and it's not like that offense had like, the offensive line was really good. And he had some good backs. And he had Bauer. Well, it's a really good offense. But he was a playmaker for them, too. You know, he made things happen and, you know, you look at the championship games the last two years, you know, he played really well in the biggest stages against Ohio State. Took them down the field at the end of the game, even though he'd had some hiccups in the middle of the game. Same thing against the Alabama the year before. So I think that there's enough there where it's worth taking a flyer on him. Could he be like a nice cheap backup for three or four years that like if your starter sprains his MCL and this is three weeks, you get a little spark from him. I think that's sort of like a decent projection for him in the NFL. They had 14 picks. So, and I do think that's why they have 14 picks. At 14 picks. And although I think I saw somebody said to me, they only have 41 guys in their contract or something like that. I don't know what the number is, but it's something crazy like that. So it makes sense that they have a lot of volume. I'm looking at it now. They had like, you know, when you're two seasons into franchise mode and Madden and you're about to start the year and they're like, you have, you have 19 players under contract. And you're like, ah, shit. I gotta fix that. Yeah. But I remember, you know, quick aside, you covered a team that was sort of like that. I'm just gonna say I covered a lot of teams that were like the 2010 and 2011 jets were like that, 'cause I remember talking to west off and this has been such a long time ago. I can tell this story, but he was bitching about how all of his players were on the minimum because tannenbaum had built the roster. So like ten guys were making all the money. So all the special teams guys were like rookie free agents on the minimum. And so I feel like that's sort of what the rams are going to be this year. Including Nick below, who is still in the NFL, which was wild to me. I remember I think Nick lord and I were rookies together. And we're both still at it. So good for there you go. Good for Nick Delorean. So the rams, I will say this was a baltimorean draft for them, where they had so much heft in the fourth and the 5th rounds that, okay, you take stetson Bennett because he's the best available and I got like 8 other picks here. So if I screw something up, you know, I got some volume here and I can pat it. I'm curious to see how this works out. I thought that travie is Hodges Tomlinson was sneaky one of my favorite. I thought that guy was a phenomenal college player. Probably one of the best players on TC they seem to like the TC rust or drafted a couple horned frogs this year. But anyway, that's enough for me. And I think I like Zach Evans there late in the draft two. Actually, I was so bored on Saturday by the end of it that I had to have Jason Taylor the second there. And I don't know if you remember this, but during the college season, Jason Taylor's kid, the Hall of Famer, Jason Taylor's kid, scored a touchdown for LSU against Alabama. It might be in the two point conversion to beat him, whatever it was. He's like a tight end at LSU, right? And so one of my projects out of boredom on Saturday afternoon was figuring out if this was like another of Jason Taylor's kids and it turns out it wasn't. So there you have it. He's the son of another Jason Taylor. Another former jet legend, Jason Taylor, by the way. That's right. Hey everybody, I'm amber ruffin. And I'm her beautiful sister, Lacey Lamar. "There is the combine what you see on television and then there's the backstories. And that's one thing we are going to talk about right now with our next guest who has been covering it. Tom green from ail dot com and some of the things that you find out what happened last year to all this. They were on a roll, and then they completely imploded down the stretch. Tom joins us right now. Tom, thanks for the time. I appreciate it very, very much. You have a chance to visit with a number of players, including old miss players. So tell us the story of all the rumors about kiffin to auburn and what impact it had on that football team. Hey, Paul. Yeah. I was just really interested in kind of seeing what it was like from the player's perspective, obviously a handful of old misguides are over there. I got a chance to talk to a couple of them. Running back Zach Evans and offensive lineman Nick broker. I was just curious what it was like for them dealing with that for basically the entire final months of the season. I mean, as soon as Brian arson was fired when Kevin's name was right at the forefront of auburn research. I thought it was interesting that they said that it was tough to handle. And it was something that was kind of tough to handle until Lancaster and address it himself. And you addressed it through the team that Monday of the egg bowl, the final week of the regular season. After that report came out that he'd be leaving for auburn at the end of that week. At that point, he told them that, hey, I'm here to stay. I'm not having taken any other job. But still, I mean, that's something that has to weigh on these kids mentally. And you try to block it out, but I think Zac Evans is really interesting term mind clutter. It's something that's there in the back of your mind the whole time because you hear about it all over the place. Nick broker said, that's what's going to happen when you have a coach that's kind of sold after like in case it was, but it clearly affected them on the field that last month, Nick broke or said, it was tough to deal with. We saw what happened. They lost all three games that final month of the season and even asked her lane and read that contract extension. They lost that Texas fall pretty badly too. Yeah, it was a complete and total collapse at the end of the year talking to Tom green from AL dot com time you talked to some auburn players, which is not unusual for you. Since you covered the team, but you talk to those who are departing about all the things that happen there as well and maybe even their thoughts on what happens now under Hugh freeze. What did you learn? Yeah, I mean, a lot of the players, I asked them about what it was like going through a coaching change mid season because obviously a lot of these guys, it was their second coaching change after guesthouse fire after the 2020 season. And it's one thing to go through it at the end after a season's over, but to go through it mid season. They said it was really challenging. But for a lot of them, they felt like it brought the team closer together and especially when Cadillac Williams was promoted to interim coach. They felt like Alban was kind of back to being auburn. So I'm going to say it was almost like a weight was lifted off of some shoulders. I believe it was tank bigsby said. If you look at the results of the two years under Brian harsh and he wasn't really surprised at a change happen, but he was kind of surprised that it happened when it did. But obviously it needed to happen and we saw all of them kind of get revived that final month even though they split the last four games of the season on a Cadillac Williams. But you guys seem to think that there's a pretty bright future under he freeze. I was able to talk to some guys who played for some of the coaches that he was hired at auburn. The old misguided in particular were really, really high on Jake Thornton former office wine kosher old miss, who's now at auburn. Said it was a nominal coach and obviously he's got a big undertaking at auburn kind of rebuilding that offensive line and we saw what they did on the recruiting front brought in. I think it was 7 or 8 offensive line and including three transfers that kind of plug and play type guys that can really help elevate that offense while in this season. Tom green with us from ail dot com time another story you wrote that I think all of us want to hear about. Is this constant debate that we have here, maybe it goes on elsewhere about what's happening in the SEC. Everyone knows Alabama reigned absolute terror over the league. George is now won two national championships in a row. What are the players that you spoke to there from the SEC, think about the president and the future of this league right now?

"Get by. They were physical against Michigan. They were the more physical team against Michigan team that had been more physical than anybody all year and they have superstars. So I think it could be really interesting. Definitely, you know, it's funny you mentioned Cinderella, because that works in basketball, but in football, you gotta hit people. And you talk about physicality and when I look at this TCU team, you're right. Jordan, they go against Michigan, and they shut down a Michigan run game that was rolling all cylinders. They get two pick 6s very early. They changed the tie to that game and the tone of that game very early and they asserted themselves. And so I agree with you as far as the Cinderella goes. Look, and then the question becomes, okay, is Georgia complacent? Is Georgia looking past TCU, even though they're here and they earn the right to be here. I think you've got two teams that are both very hungry. I think Georgia is very hungry because they broke a 41 year quote unquote curse last year after winning a national championship. They have an opportunity to do what nobody's done in the last decade and with another one this year. You have a TCU team that you listen to sunny dikes and he's like, we didn't know what we had. We've got four players that have bowl experience and so four. On the whole time the whole team. And so they're kind of building the building the plane. As they're flying it and credit to them, though, for the way they played the way they've coached. So you've got two different paths. I think that's what makes this game exciting is that you've got two teams with totally different DNAs that have two totally different journeys, totally different types of expectations coming into the season, CCU was expected to finish 7th in their own division. Their own conference. And so I think this is what college football is about. That's what makes this exciting. Jordan, how does this happen? Because we're in the SEC, we're just, we have our head up in the air going. There's no way a team was a handful of start athletes competing with the best in the business. I think this shows that coaching should not be underrated. And I think we feel that a lot in the SEC has also think we're a little spoiled in that because we've seen save it for so long at such a high level. We've seen Kirby now take that model and have success with it. So I think we are a little school, but sunny dikes in the job that he did. And I want to reiterate again. Benjamin had a great point. Four guys on the entire team have been to a bowl game. Here are 5 and 7 last year. Three of their top four players transferred away before the beginning of the season Zach Zach Evans running back Fred miss should be on this team a 5 star, right? Imagine if he was in the backfield there, so coaching. Not smart Jack can not be underrated. That's one of those things. I don't want to interrupt you. That's one of the things we like. But I think when you add coaching with high

"Elite down here in Atlanta, where he is nearby and Barrett's will start off our final hour of the program. We're here again tomorrow. It's not like we're going anywhere. The game's not so Saturday night. Barrett, thanks for being here. I appreciate it. I mean, there's not a lot of new things to say about this game. So I want to ask you about a couple other things. First of all, lane kiffin all over the news today. He made some comments in the aftermath of the lost last night calling out one of the players now Texas tech has completely refuted what he's had to say. I mean, I realize we don't know a lot about this situation. Other than almost lost again, but what do you make out of this thing? You know, it's weird for the last month of the season and even into this off season through the bowl game. Elaine has just, it almost seems like he's off. I don't know if it was the auburn distraction or whatever, but you know, as far as this situation, I mean, neither of us know exactly what happened. I don't know if anybody's gonna ever figure out what happened. But to come out with something like that, you better have real good proof. You better have something to back it up. And maybe he does. You know, maybe he does. Maybe we don't know about it yet, but the fact that Texas tech came out and refuted it right away. I mean, tells me there's going to be some back and forth and if there's more to it, lame better have it. Blaine better have that information. Yeah, I mean, I mean, there are a lot of ways to deny something. This was pretty emphatic. Yes, it was. Yes, it was. I mean, you're basically saying, okay, we can't be lying. It's on you. You do your thing, lane. And like I said, like you said, it was emphatic. It was flat out. We did not do this. Nobody did this. Was it sour? I don't know about you. Do you think it's sour grapes on how the season ended? Because I can't see that kind of accusation coming out just because you lost a football game. No, and it wasn't like it came down to one play either. The game was long gone. Came down to one play in the first quarter. The game should have been called at halftime. Lane kiffin in the middle of the year was on top of the world. And I'm not suggesting that anyone should feel sorry for him. He's making $9 million a year. He's got he's got a rock solid contract, but it has been an abysmal finish, though. It has, and like I said, you know, I don't know if it's the auburn rumors when that thing started that distracted him, distracted his players, or you know, it might just be a schematic thing, too, because for the first couple months of the season, you know, judkins, you know, Zach Evans. This was the great rushing attack. And teams didn't know that. Everybody knew that. Everybody saw old misplay and say, all right, we're going to stop those guys and make Jackson darbys. And to Jackson's credit, they still have good receivers. But it was almost like the communication just kind of disintegrated at the beginning of November. And from a defensive standpoint too, is almost like the defense kind of got worn down. Because, you know, lane almost generally doesn't really care about time of possession all that much with stranger defensive depth. And it's clear right now. They don't have that. So Sam Pittman, thank you, Sam Pittman for a pull in that game out otherwise. What would the SEC be Owen for? Something like that, yeah. Not that we're keeping track of optimal. But another disappointing year, I mean, Sam Pittman had to be thrilled to death. That would have been one of the worst losses. You could ever have what 25 point lead. I'm a falcons fan. I know about bad loss. Yeah, I mean, I mean you always see this percentages. I mean, the falcons had it, many have had it, in fact, Missouri was at 99% beating auburn this year and they didn't win. But with a minute in what 40 seconds left in the game, it was, it was like at a 100%, I think. Yeah. Well, and there's no reason that it shouldn't. It should not have been a two score game even at that point. And obviously with the landers fumble, which should have been called down, I mean, look, Arkansas fans are upset about that. They should be. But it was a very bad way to close out that season. Even though they got the win, this is a Kansas team that was kind of like the talk of the town in mid October, but really wasn't that good. You know, they were, it was a cute little story, so to speak. And, you know, Arkansas pulling that game out. Yeah, you get the trophy, yeah, we saw the Instagram videos of fit men celebrating, but you can't be excited about that. You can't be excited about that, especially after it was such a roller coaster season for Arkansas, getting up in the top 15, and then going through that losing streak only to find their way to a bowl game, but I think we all sort of expected more. But I do think the foundation that they have with KJ Jefferson coming back in another year with Kendall bryles. That's going to help because you watch how they operated with KJ Jefferson. Especially before rocket Sanders got hurt. You can tell just what that offense is capable of. Not to go down every game in the SEC at one in three and then there are some winnable games. There's also some usable games. And that's not that big a deal when you're SEC champion could be playing for the national championship again. It does seem to put the quietus on that, but of the remaining non playoff games. What are you focused on? I can't wait for the orange bowl. Tennessee Clemson. I think we always kind of take too much out of both seasons. For some bowl games, but I think that's a game where you can look at it and say, okay, I want to know what Clemson is. I want to know what kid club it can do because we obviously saw on the ACC championship game what he can do. And you know, watching some of the games last night, they put him on like short list for Heisman trophies a dude to start played one game, hasn't started a game yet. It does not, it does not take long. So I want to see what Clemson is with Kate club Nick and then with Tennessee, I know there's no hinden hooker Jalen high is not there.

"Away from Thanksgiving and speaking of that incredibly important holiday, we pause here for just a moment before we get to today's headlines to share with you that the ACC has announced that all of its member teams will wear helmet decals and hold a moment of silence Saturday. In honor of the three Virginia football players who died earlier in the week, those three players were Devin Chandler. Lavelle Davis junior and Deshawn Perry. Now, some football headlines in the SEC, Kentucky, coaches are saying stetson Bennett is the best they have seen this year, the best QB. How about that? Meanwhile, Nick Saban, hold on a second. Let's make sure legend isn't watching. Nick Saban praises Pete Golding despite struggles. He's done a very good job, said Saban. And how about them? Tennessee vols will involve hypo run up the score on South Carolina. We just got through watching Tennessee's corps. The final couple of seconds against Missouri, college football playoff, are we getting any closer revenue distribution resolved? But what about the rose bowl? They remain an obstacle in success, as always coming up on the show. That SEC podcast guy, Michael Bratton, this guy is money, and we will talk to him in a few minutes. Jason Campbell, former number one pick from auburn. He led auburn to an undefeated season and one of his star go to guys was none other than carnell Williams. We'll talk about all of that today with Jason and Griff joins us later. I should have said Griff with more energy, shouldn't I? No. A little bit of low energy today. Let's get to the phone calls at 8 5 5 two four two 7 two 8 5 and we begin with John and Louisville. Hey John. Hey, good afternoon. What's up with this moving Griff up a day? No, Griff is always Thursday unless we are on location involves Griff. Hey, you've had some colorful callers in the last couple of days from Jim Jens done a good job. Joe learned some colorful expressions from him yesterday. And I will repeat them, but skunk was mentioned more than once. And then legend has always, but I'll tell you, there's a lot of legend MV out there. Did you notice that? Yeah, I heard Jim and squirrel and I'm Ann, everybody's ganging up on the great legend. East, the great emasculate. He will emasculate them today. He knows he keeps the list of critics. So I expect a good show from this alleged by page 54 I know he won't like me saying this, but sometimes you have to let these things go. I mean, I know when I see my therapist, every day at two 45, right before the show starts, she tells me, let it out. Walk to a window, raise it, scream, at the top of your lungs, and get the bad, the bad vibes out of your system. But you won't allow himself to do that. Well, a happy Jim, a sapien Jim is always better than the satanic gym. I do like him when he's happy. Hey, I've got two comments. One is about is it Rick or Richard's sister who cleans the offices of those in high places over there? I think she misread the male and the waist basket and it's not a player because I looked it up. I couldn't find a player other than Calais. I think it's a form of coach. I think it's Kevin Steele. Yeah, it would be like auburn, wouldn't it to go back to where they started this process two years ago and bring Kevin Steele back? Yeah. Here's my comment on it was a great interview, a very insightful with John wilner yesterday. But yeah, he talked about Washington and Oregon staying in the PAC 12. And I just saw that the big 12 is actually they took cuts in front of line of PAC 12 and they did their media rights deal already. And they're going to pay out about when it starts in January 25, about $32 million per team. Now, I think if you recall the big ten contracts, something in the neighborhood of 75 million. So even if the ad Washington Oregon and I'm talking about the Big Ten at say a pro rata share of 50 or 60%, that's like much more than they could ever, because let's be honest, big or PAC 12 is not going to get a good deal from ESPN and Amazon. Because there's no windows for opportunities to have the game shown. What's your thought? No, John, thank you. That's another problem. With a TV executive the other day, and we were talking about the Big Ten package. And ultimately, you have to have games that matter. And there aren't that many to go around. Thank you for the call. Appreciate it, Kevin. Is in Atlanta. Hello, Kevin. Hey, Paul, long time caller first time lizard. Thank you. I'm wondering why. No one wants to take a chance on a high school coach because we're out of Brian Kelly's, we're out of Kirby smarts. There are a lot of options. You can dream for lane kiffin. I'm not sure why people would dream for lane kiffin. He's good, but not a lot of options. So if they're not going to go with Cadillac, which they should, why don't you go high school with this day and age with the portal and everything you get a good high school coach that has coached some 5 stars and three stars for whatever, transfer portal, you get them in there, he's got a couple guys, just one year, he gets a little culture going. The guys that know him and have already bought and I'm talking about a Super Bowl winning player who has coached his name is Trent Dilfer. I don't understand why this man has not come to the college football arena yet as a coach because he is killing it in Tennessee. There's a guy in cedartown, Mick chubbs, Alma mater. He's killing it. And he's got a couple of kids going to power 5s. Go to the high school, go to that. It's happened before. About 40 years ago, Notre-Dame hired a high school football coach Jerry Faust from Cincinnati mower. It was truly a disaster. It can work, though. I don't have any doubt that there are high school coaches out there that are as capable or more capable than any college coach, but sometimes it's just about opportunities. Hey, thank you for the call. As far as far as Bill firm, I'm sure if he wanted to get in the mix, he could do it. He knows enough people. Billy is in Philly. Hey, Billy. Hi, Paul. I'm calling about this a huge story on the journal today. And what it talked about was I thought it was very admirable and it's something that happens in the SEC all the time. It's about a guy making a team that lost people in the portal. Did not pick up people on the portal who built his team up so that they're going good. But I don't think they're going to beat the best flavor. Yeah. Yeah. I just want to let your thoughts are about that. I mean, I think it's, I think what they've done is admirable, I think, when you see what a Clemson auburn did last week, that admirable, there's a lot of this goes on that is really important in college sports and it can easily be overlooked. You can't spend all day talking about the top 14s. No, I agree. And I know a lot of people misunderstood me yesterday when I was with Stephen a Smith. I was not being personal about TCU. I just felt like they're going to run out of time to assume, but sunny dikes is easily a finalist for national coach of the year. He's done a remarkable job. He lost Zach Evans. He's lost a bunch of other players that article pointed out today and yeah, and the next three weeks will determine whether he makes the playoffs or not. But it doesn't matter to me that whether they do or they don't, he's turned a program that was literally going off the cliff under Gary Patterson to a top four program. Yes, I think it's admirable. And I think that's what good coaches have to do all the time. And it's easy to forget that when you're just focusing on the best teams. Now you're right. I mean, again, I think in various communities, people support and talk about their local teams, but when I'm on these ESPN shows, it's about who you got. Who's in, who's out. It's the nature of the playoff. And that's why I do think Billy, if and when these commissioners get off, they're delaying techniques and get this thing going here for two years. Imagine the conversation right now, if we had 12 teams available for that playoff, you wouldn't get some of the, I mean, Alabama would be in the thick of things. Clemson would be involved. Yeah, the Michigan Ohio State game wouldn't matter as much, but just like the NFL.

"In and they've played them an awful lot drew aller. He's a problem. Would be surprised if we see two quarterbacks playing there. I think Penn State has similar issues in their offensive line that maybe we saw with Alabama a little bit. And a concerted effort in the off season by James Franklin to line up and run the ball. You saw it in the first quarter and a half versus we saw it really, really strong against Ohio where I was outmanned. You've got two true freshman running backs in Penn State that are flat difference makers. Nick singleton, K Tron Allen. They are Penn State's version of when tank bigsby hit the SEC for auburn. The Mitchell tinsley kid at wide out that transferred in from western Kentucky is a go to guy for them. And I think defensively, you can make an argument that they've got the best corner when it's all said and done. We go into draft time. We go in a mail time, and we go into Todd mcshay time. Joey Porter junior is the guy that everybody's going to be throwing away from starting Saturday. And for the rest of the season, he's that much of a difference maker. I'm going to be interested to see how Penn State handles that environment. James Franklin was talking to his football team this week about, hey, listen, you guys don't know what you're getting into here. He's the only guy in that room that can try and verbalize it, but you don't know it until you experience it. The auburn quarterback situation is hotly discussed. What can you tell us and what are the possibilities for them? Well, I think the issue that you see is kind of what you see is what you get. What we've seen to this point is kind of what we've seen throughout the career of DJ Finley. You know, you go back to TJ Finley in the 2020 season when miles Brennan went down. He had an opportunity to take the reins and run with it. At 5 starts and just mildly ineffective. They put in max Johnson, max Johnson finishes out the season. So I kind of feel like for all of his athletic gifts, his production is what it is. I don't know if it's going to be any better. I don't know if it's going to be any worse. I think what it is, is it spotty, it's streaky. And if Robbie Ashford is going to come in and play, that's great. But you've got a real problem. If Robbie asked for it as your leading rusher, that can not happen for Albert if they want to be successful. And listen, you want to take pressure off the quarterbacks. Effectively run the football and now maybe you're going to open some things up downfield. And I think that auburn is going to be a little bit more healthy at wide receiver. I know it's been a widely criticized position, but they'll be better, I think, in this matchup with a guy or two back than they were in the previous two games. And Tom finally, we had Mike leach on about an hour ago, people were really high on them. They'd be too, I'm not great teams, but at least name brand teams in Memphis and Arizona. What about them as they go to Baton Rouge? When the AP poll came out in August, there was one glaring omission for me. And it was Mississippi state. I'm sitting there looking at and I'm going, how is Mississippi state? Most experienced returning in the entire conference, as far as snaps played by the people in their too deep. And then they've gone out and they've proven it and you're right to some degree and we could say this about a bunch of people that maybe they haven't played the level of competition that would truly define what they are. But my question is, we know they've got a quarterback. We know they've got playmakers. They're a big physical team on defense when they have to. And they get into league play. Are they going to be willing to attempt to run the football to stop people from just playing a free man front dropping 8 and saying, hey, we dare you to run it on us because generally that's not been what he wants to do. He's a true error rate guy. But at some point or another, if they give it to you, and you got light box, start running it. And that's going to be the question for me when they start playing better competition. Tom loganville, he will be on the call of Ole miss and Georgia Tech. What do you think I'll miss before you go? You know, it's interesting. 27 transfer portal guys. And it's tough to see where they're at with Troy and then central Arkansas. But I think not only do they have one quarterback. I think they've got two quarterbacks. And that's one of the reasons why lane kiffin's been playing both of these guys because they've both earned it. They've both deserved it, and they probably feel like they could win with both. And one of them needs to start taking the reins and lead into the forefront. Zach Evans is a difference maker running back to transfer from TCU. They've just done a really good job in the choices that they've made in the transfer portal. How much do we know about them? I still think it's too early to tell, you know, link this week said that there's a lot of firsts. You've got all of these guys coming in the transfer portal. Now you're trying to get them acclimated to how we do things. So here's our first road game. Well, how do we do things on the road? And so you're trying to bring all the pieces together in a short period of time and then put a product out there that compete. So I think they're talented, probably the most talented roster he's had since he arrived there. And it's likely because of some of the decisions they've made in the transfer portal. And the transfer portal has risks. But if you do your homework, you can improve your football team fairly quickly, I think they've done that. Well done, Tom loganville, thanks for dropping in. We will take a short break. We've got a busy show with mandel and Mike leitch and Tom. We're not done yet. Stick around.

"Yeah, I'm sorry, Nick. Give us the latest from Oxford on the camp ending in the season about to begin. Yeah, it's been a interesting camp just because it's a lot to get used to with so many new football players on one team. I think it's 40, 45% of the rosters knew between transfers and incoming freshmen and junior college kids. I mean, it's a lot to juggle, but there's a lot of talent to juggle too. It's a team that there's a lot of optimism about, but I mean, I'd be lying to you with I said, I had a really good grasp on how good this team is. And I've been to every practice I've been allowed in and I've seen every second I've been allowed to see. I mean, I don't know. There's a lot of uncertainty, but I guess it's a good kind of uncertainty when you end to think that they're good players who are getting their first shot and all this Jersey this Saturday. Well, there's so much buzz about some of the transfers that's a key positions running back quarterback elsewhere. Give us some background on what fans are going to see and what impact they could have. Yeah, I mean, if I gave the full version of this answer, it'd probably take 26 minutes. So I'll try and run quick. Quarterback Jackson dart from USC got a good chance at starting him and Luke altmeyer of kind of been going back and forth in the spring and fall very electric arm has all the natural tools might have to rein in some of his gunslinger instincts, but if he's the guy I think you're going to see a lot of shots downfield and a lot of that same natural arm talent, maybe to a lesser degree of corral last year, but some of that as well. Zach Evans, and Ulysses Bentley, the two running backs from TCU and SMU are both guys who I think are going to have fringe all SEC caliber seasons. They're both really, really talented back 7s as a former 5 star former top 50 recruit for a reason expect him to have a big big year. You're going to have three transfer receivers on the outside, Jordan Watkins from Louisville, Jalen Robinson from UCF and Malik Keith for Mississippi state, who I think are all going to play very early and be very, very important receivers, Michael trigg, the tight end from USC who came with dart is going to be a big play factor and could end up being the team's best pass catcher when things are all said and done. Defensively, JJ piggies, SEC fans are familiar with from his time at auburn. I think he's going to have a big impact and then linebacker Troy Brown from central Michigan. That's a three time all conference player from his time at central Michigan. I see young the safety from Iowa state was the COVID 12 freshman of the year his freshman year. The guy he was with is Kari Coleman, who has also transferred to illness to play linebacker. There's a lot of moving pieces. I haven't even named all of the transfers yet, but those are that's a good smattering of the guys you can expect to start or play big, big roles on Saturday. And Nick, because of what you laid out, the quantity, the vast quantity of transfers, the predictions for this program are literally all over the place. So I'm very high. Some in the middle, I realized predictions are not worth very much right now. But you see the practice, you talk to the coaches, you have at least insight we don't. What do you think? I think that in print I have it at 8 and four, I could see anywhere between 7 and 5 and 9 and three kind of being the realistic range you were hinting at. It's an interesting schedule because I mean, their first 7 games are going to be Troy central Arkansas, Georgia Tech, also Kentucky Vanderbilt auburn. Which as far as SEC schedules go, it could be a lot worse. This team is going to have a lot of time to kind of figure itself out and that's exactly what you need on a team with so many newcomers, so many faces getting used to each other as teammates. That said, three of your last 5 games are road games at Texas a and M at Arkansas at LSU. And a fourth of those last 5 games is Alabama. So the end of the year is going to be really tough. And I don't see necessarily a way that you sweep those three road games with a and ML LSU Arkansas. I think realistically you probably lose two. It's possible you lose all three, but I think they're probably in a similar caliber of quality as those four teams. I don't think they'll get swept, but that's kind of the thing that's ahead of them when you're making the predictions is if these players gel together in those first 7 games. You could see those last 5 games being the sort of team that's trying to play its way back into the year 6th birth. If there's a little bit of complication with the continuity and just how everybody gels together at the end of the season could be really rough. Almost had one of those early, I think it was the Labor Day night game last year and now they're at Georgia Tech and I realize if you're a fan of football from the 50s and 60s or maybe briefly in the 80s or late 80s, early 90s, Georgia Tech really mattered, but there, let's be honest. Is there a doormat? I mean, nobody really wants to see Georgia Tech. Even though Clemson plays them Monday night on ESPN to say that quickly. How does all this end up with that game?

"And if so, can you explain how lane kiffin ended up recruiting a punter on frat row? Oh man. I mean, I don't know too much about it, but I do know that I'm sure everyone knows that he was seeing a frat house drinking the get a party. Which is pretty interesting to see coming from a ponder. He was, I believe, I think he's 250 pounds, I believe. So it's pretty, it's pretty funny to see. Hey, I don't know what's more surprising. The fact that upon our way is 250 pounds or the fact that there's drinking going on on the on this campus. But anyway, let me get back to football for a second here. Just in terms of expectations, the quarterback value you've mentioned, it seems like a lot of great players have left this program. It's hard to keep up with everyone that has joined in the portal. Where are the strengths? And the weaknesses of this team, as you see it. Well, the strengths I would say is surprisingly are not, I don't think surprisingly, but it's offense. All miss got a lot of offensive transfers. Headlined by former 5 star recruit out of high school Zach Evans. He was at TCU last season, so he came over. Quarterback tight end Michael trigg from USC. He played with dart. So they have a little relationship with each other, which is always a plus. I think Michael trick could be really something special this year. I expect him to get a lot of looks in the red zone. And his size and speed speed like wide receiver ability, his hands. They kind of remind me of Michael R Kyle Pitts in a way. But yeah, we got a lot of got a lot of explosive players from the transfer portal. As you look at that schedule and we'll show it for those who aren't as familiar as you in a minute, there are some breathers. I mean, last year, if I remember almost start off in one of the neutral site games and had a chance to get going, there's always difficult games, of course, Alabama pops up. The usual suspects this year, it's Troy, central Arkansas, and then at Georgia Tech, which is an unusual game, but certainly by no means extremely difficult and Tulsa. And then Kentucky and Vanderbilt. I mean, it looks to me as a schedule that is incredibly manageable early on. How do you see it? No, yeah, I expect or miss to go, I think 9 9 and three at best. I don't think they'll struggle to start out the season. I think it's really easy to go 6 O, just because they play Troy central Arkansas. Georgia Tech Tulsa, Kentucky might be a little challenge, but I think almost to come out with the win. But then as you look towards the end of the season, you see matchups like Alabama, you see matchups like Texas a and M, Arkansas. I think olmes loses to three teams, I think auburn, Alabama, and Texas a and M auburn because they've always given the rebels fits in the past. I think they've once 6 or 7 straight against olmes and then Alabama's Alabama so you just got to pray for that game. And then Texas a and M, they're really tough to beat at home. We saw that last year when they beat Alabama. I kind of feel so it's also kind of early to tell how this group will perform just because there's so many new guys Sony new coaches. So we would just have to see how the season of hopes. And one thing that we are trying to do and when we talk to young people like IQ on the campus is find out a little bit more about you and what you've done. I know you've done a lot of interesting things for a young reporter covering major league teams. Tell us about your background and what brought you to Oxford. Yeah. So I'm from Miami, Florida. The first time I went to Oxford was when I was a sophomore in high school, I was going to visit my older brother who was at the time attending home is. So I remember going up for an LSU game. And the moment I went into the town, I just fell in love, the people there are just so close knit campus is beautiful. And everyone there just loves football, SECs, the place to go. So being from Miami, Florida, it's such a big city. There's so many people. I think ostrich was a nice change of pace and I just really enjoyed it. Aiden, not to rush you out of Oxford, but at some point you'll have to cross the bridge into the real world that all of us adults deal with every day. What would you what would you like to end up doing once you get out of school? I hope to be a sort of professionally insider. You see a guy like Adrian was asking, you see guys like Judd pass in that type of guy. But we'll see what happens and see if everything comes into place. Well, I'll say this of all the classifications at the big networks like ESPN. You have picked one of the best. Based on knowing those individuals and how valuable they are to the company. "Have made a year two leap during spring. There is just a lot of guys to pick from with both talent and production and a.m. secondary. So that unit is just, wow, loaded loaded loaded. With all that talent though, when you look at it in the secondary. It's really hard to get better than last season. A and M was top 5 and EPA per pass. Only 33% of passes great successful. They were also a really good situational defense. Top ten and early down EPA allowed. Number one in points allowed for quality possession. They stopped the run in key moments. When you put things in that context, it is really hard to call for improvement metrically. And a and M will have to face 6 top 30 offenses by our numbers as well. So really what this comes down to is we saw this win total open 8 and a half. It's basically state 8 and a half is Texas a and M, more talented and better than it a 8 and a half wind team. Apps are fucking lutely. But the schedule is so difficult that it's just seems like a gauntlet week after week and Jimbo over the years has shown to slip up a game or two. So ultimately we'll see if that's the undoing. I don't know if this schedule allows them to go to the college football playoff. Yeah, middle portion of the schedule will do this team no favors. Yes, they start out with three games at home, but you're talking about the final game in that trio being against Miami. We're a and M will be more than a touchdown favorite. And then you play four straight games away from home, a biweek sandwiched in there, but you're talking about Arkansas and Arlington your atmosphere stayed at Alabama bye week and then at South Carolina. But for things lighten up down the stretch. So you better be able to hold serve there. Otherwise this season can get away from you in a hurry. And like you said, you can judge teams based on their merits and their overall talent level and power rating, but that's not necessarily indicative of a schedule that can be difficult, and it's why this wind total isn't any higher than it is. As far as a and M being a legitimate threat to Alabama, I think this is where you start to see a little bit of a drop down for where these teams are in the SEC west pecking order and we'll go to the old miss rebels who see their wind total sitting at 7 and a half. You do need to lay a dollar 65 at FanDuel sportsbook to go over that total. 50 to one long shots to win the SEC and this off season lane kiffin self proclaimed portal king probably finish right alongside Lincoln Riley or next to him, depending on how you grade the transfer classes. But it's a very young coaching staff. When you go up and down the ages of the assistance that kiffin is brought in Oxford, his star quarterback Matt corral, his top pass rusher and Sam Williams and nearly 20 other major contributors have moved on. We talked about losing your offensive coordinator, Jeff lebby, when we broke down Oklahoma, we talked about DJ durkin moving to College Station in the tech CNN preview a few moments ago. New players, new systems, new coaches, new culture, Charlie Weiss junior and to inherit the reins for an old miss offense pain that ran the football a lot more than people would be led to believe. And the folks that I've spoken to really don't think it's going to be Jackson dart getting the start under center when old misplaced its first meaningful football game that they think Luke altmaier a lot closer to seizing that opportunity and responsibility as QB one wearing powder blue. What's going on with that, by the way, there seems to be this migrating of betters and now coaches likening themselves to chess pieces. What's going on with that? I have no, I have no idea. I mean, there's more princesses, princes, queens and kings in the sports gambling space than I've ever dreamed of in my wildest dreams. And now you're seeing that in college football as well. So apparently everybody wants to be the member of the royal family in some capacity or another, even if it's all self anointed. Schematically not much is going to change the offensively with levy leaving for Oklahoma. It is still link Evans offense. Old miss is still going to run an RPO based system with play action deep shots in his own running scheme and it's just very quarterback friendly. And who that quarterback is, I don't think is necessarily Ben decided, it'll take most of fall camp to figure it out. Everything that I had heard from spring camp. Unfolded the exact way in the spring game. And the three things were Luke alt Meyer isn't very accurate. Jackson dart doesn't have a grasp of the offense. And whoever wins the battle, neither are going to replicate Matt carrell's efficiency this season. That was basically all in all Iranian endorsement for exactly what this offense is going to look like in 2022. That was what I was told. I watched the spring game every second of it. I was like, boy, that is damn sure accurate. Looking at the recruiting pedigree. The small sample of performances last season. Some accuracy metrics, some running ability stuff. It does feel like Jackson dart would have a leg up on Luke altmar once he's had a couple more months in the playbook during spring break. We'll see. I really think this is an open battle. What seems clear to me, though, is the strength of the rebels offense will be the row line in running backs. O line returns four starters from a group that was top 25 an opportunity rate and helped to run game that finished top 25 and EPA per rush. Lane snagged a four star tackle transformation Brooks from western Kentucky, who's produced three straight plus seasons on paper, lots of running back production is gone, but the talent takes an uptick with Zac Evans and Ulysses Bentley. That to me is a really dynamic duo of running and catching running backs. You look at Zac Evans, average 7 yards of carry nearly four and a half yards of them after contact, almost 19% of Zach Evans runs were explosive and is elusive rating was off the charts. He is a 5 star running back talent if everything between the years continues to mature. He's going to be scary. Receiver group is interesting because the contributing talent this season won't match last season with Ontario Drummond, but availability is always the best ability and all miss dealt with some injuries to the receiver group. You do have mingo Jackson and Watkins who are all upperclassmen. Mingo and Jackson need to be a little bit more sure handed, both had a drop rate approaching 15% last season. The tight end transfer from USC, Michael trigg has been all the hype. He's 6 5, two 50 with speed. You can see his ability and there are specific plays designed for him that we saw in spring, whether it's in the red zone, but he is going to be a decent part of this offense. Schedule wise, I think there's time for lane kiffin to figure out his best option under center and implement all the new parts. You have Troy and Kentucky. Certainly not pushovers defensively. But when you factor in Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Tulsa and vandy, it's a defensive schedule the first 6 weeks that has an average projected efficiency rank outside the top 100. But that's the vital cutoff date. Lane has to get the offense humming by October 15th because the final 6 games. The defenses have a projected efficiency rank of 18th. There is time, but you need to get it figured out by October 15th. It's always interesting to try and put nice time parameters in there to figure out exactly. Where old miss can be. I mean, this program been interesting. I mean, we saw flashes of vault Meyer. He clearly was in over his head in the bowl game against Baylor. We'll see how that quarterback battle continues to unfold. As you figure out exactly what this pecking order looks like. Defensively for old miss. I mean, this team was markedly better. A season ago, they play a unique three two 6 scheme if we want to call it that. And you're talking about a group that was allowing a horrendous 38 plus points per game in 2020 to respectable 24 and a half points per game in 21. It marked the SEC's biggest year over year jump since 2004, and they've lacked some consistency and production on the interior of the line, but they do have some experience from a linebacking standpoint. You bring in a transfer and Troy Brown from central Michigan where much is expected. But I guess when you're talking about playing a bend, but don't break defense, you hope that there's some strength and some difference makers as far as putting 6 DBs on the field all at once. We called for improvement from old misses defense last season. Said if they could go from a 120th to 80th and EPA per play allowed, that would be a nice sleep, almost finished 77, not a bad projection there.

"The promo code, bet the board, take advantage of your no sweat bet up to a $1000, FanDuel wants you to be in the action and they have a variety of ways that you can put your money to work for you. When we go from the top four, at least in the odds pane into that next tier of big 12 teams, we can start with the TCU horned frogs. Whose wind total sits at 6 and a half, you do have to lay a dollar 50 to go over their win total at FanDuel. We see their odds to win the conference priced at 12 to one. Sunny dikes era begins in earnest. This is a program that posted 6 top ten finishes from 2008 to 2017, but they've obviously fallen on hard times prompting them to part ways with Gary Patterson who'd been a fixture on the sidelines since the early 2000s. When you look at sunny dikes that's taken in 1518 months and some of his previous turnarounds, whether it be at Louisiana tech, Cal or SMU. But from a cultural fit standpoint, I mean sunny didn't even have to change cities, making the move from SMU to TCU. And this is a program that's gone just 23 and 24 over the last four seasons with a 15 and 21 record in conference play. Obviously, a huge emphasis this off season was placed on strength, conditioning mental health and nutrition. We'll see how quickly that can pay dividends. When you look at this team offensively, Garrett Riley takes over to the offensive coordinator a bit of a quarterback battle between max dugan and Chandler Morris, TCU, sunny dikes, leads you to believe that this offense will be able to put up points in bunches. Do you see that happening right out of the gates? I think it can. Yeah. I mean, this is, if you kind of follow the sunny dikes timeline here, he was actually an analyst at TCU in 2017 when the frogs won 11 games and went to the big 12 title game. Him getting the job was pretty foregone the moment Gary Patterson moved on. Sounds like it was the right time because you mentioned some of those quotes that have been surfacing from players and coaches. That TCU is kind of stuck in the Stone Age with some of those strength and conditioning and nutrition and wellness programs. You even had starting corner Hodges Tomlin say the team was so divided the past few seasons, but now after a few short months with dikes, it feels like a family again at TCU. Sometimes a new voice is needed, right? Now, you mentioned this also. Dykes hasn't had a winning first season, his last three stops. That includes your one at Cal, year one at lattek year one at SMU. None of those seasons yielded winners. Offensively, it should be a unit that fights to be top 20 and efficiency. The foundation of a good offense was their last year despite horrific play calling. Dugan missing some time in some offensive line issues. Not sure the latter has been completely rectified by sunny dikes, but he did say in spring the O line was the biggest pleasant surprise. Tissue does have an all big 12 center and Steve Avila. You have Johnny lanez, who is an elite run blocker. In general, the run metrics last season were damn good inside the top 35 in line yards opportunity rate stuff right allowed. There is a quarterback battle going on, I guess, max duggan, Chandler Morris, it's a little unsettled, but I wouldn't really be worried there. And I know you and I had this conversation off air. I think both are very capable. Max duggan is the veteran. He's proven, he's mobile, Chandler Moore's probably the guy who slightly better verse to run this style of offense. Ultimately, we'll see what unfolds. But there was a quote floating around about one day you wake up and everyone realizes who the guy is. Players, coaches, et cetera. So sunny dikes is not going to make a decision anytime soon. Either way, I think the position is in good hands to where you're not making drastic adjustments one way or the other, but we'll see. Zach Evans at running backs a big loss, but Kendrick Miller is damn good. Miller actually averaged more yards per carry more yards after contact and had a better elusive rating than Zac Evans. That to me, the running back room is pretty loaded there. Receiver room has tons of experience. You have Quentin Johnson Tay barber, Darius Davis, they all average 2.2 yards per route run last season. Cupboard is far from there. I know he's implementing sunny Dyson's implementing a new system, but I look at TCU last year. They were explosive on offense. They were good in the clutch on third and fort downs. And the crazy part is there is clear room for improvement looking at how poor three areas were last year, starting field position for TCU's offense last season was outside the top 100. They were outside the top 100 bypassing third downs. They were outside the top 100 and converting quality possessions into points. There is a ton of meat on the bone here. Players can get acclimated to the new system because you get Colorado tarlington and SMU the first three games. Oklahoma obviously no easy task, but we kind of discussed and mentioned Brent venables defenses and how difficult they are to get acclimated into year one. And so now all of a sudden you get Oklahoma probably at an ideal time the first month of the season rather than week 12. Kansas is outside the top 100 in our defensive efficiency projections. I think TCU has got an ability here Todd to kind of work out some of the offensive kinks early. I'm expecting big things for this offense. I really am. I think TCU has the ability, and on the other side of the ball is a little bit of a question, Mark. But I think offensively, the talent that returns, tzu has the ability to produce a winning season in year one under sunny dikes. I mean, there's no doubt to your point, there are definitely playmakers. You talked a little bit about the running back room and where Kendrick Miller should obviously be the bell cow back at a hundred plus rushing yards in four of 6 games down the stretch. I think what might be the most telling was Quentin Johnston who you talked about 634 receiving yards only ranked a 137th nationally last season and 33 catches ring 278th still found his way to get onto the all big 12 team earned first team honors. So clearly he caught the eye of opposing coaches and will be a force to be reckoned with in this sunny dikes offense. Now you mentioned defensively and there was no doubt last year the TCU was a downright dumpster fire. Joe Gillespie comes over from Tulsa. Sunny dikes was pretty outspoken about, hey, look, Gillespie found a way to slow down my offenses at SMU. I realized when I got this head coaching job, he was a guy that I had to try and bring out of my staff.

"To your phone calls momentarily. Got the ACC announcing which players will be at ACC media days, 9 quarterbacks in that conference, as I said yesterday on the show, I think it is one of the best collections of quarterbacks I've seen at the ACC in the ACC period full stop. Filled your COVID is going to be there for Boston college. Jordan Travis for Florida state, a good statement on where he's at on that team. Malik Cunningham, Tyler Van Dyke is a very good player for Miami. He's going to be there Devin Leary very underrated for NC state. Brennan Armstrong, of course, like the one man 500 yards of offense show for Virginia Sam Hartman, who's thrown like a bazillion touchdowns and started 4000 football games for wake forest, which is a record. He'll be there. And of course, Garrett Schrader for Syracuse is going to be there as well, a guy that's really athletic and fun to watch. So 9 quarterback's going to be there. The big 12. At their media days, the conference commissioner Brett your book, the brand new conference commissioner basically said, we are open for business. As it pertains to expansion. So taking all phone calls, if you've got a football team and you want to see if the big 12s interested, give the big 12 a call, give old Brett your mark a call and see if they're interested in see if they're interested in your product. Joining here. But 8 5 5 two four two. 7 two 8 5. Again, the playoff is lost in all this expansion conversation. Like we're still trying to compete for a championship here. And Alabama looks like the best football team. Georgia looks like the second best team with the best schedule setting up to be 12 and O in Atlanta. I think Ohio State's clearly the best team in the Big Ten. They get Michigan at home at the end of the year. And I have the best offense in America. I think those three are in. Barring some major upsets, which is obviously why we watch. But I think those three are in. The problem is figuring out the fourth team. It's the most difficult prediction I can remember since the playoff became a thing in 2014. I've only got a handful of teams that I would argue belong in that conversation. But you can make the case for a few different. Somebody made the case for Penn State. I'm not buying that. Somebody made the case for Clemson. I'm on board with that. I think Clemson has a very good chance. To get into the playoff. But they're going to have to be perfect in conference because they have to go to Notre-Dame in non conference. 855-242-7285 convinced me of who belongs in the playoff with the big three, Bama, Georgia, and Ohio State. Is this butler from Atlanta? Butler, welcome to the welcome to the Paul fine bomb show. How are you? Hey, hunter. How you doing? Hunter, sorry, I apologize. Yeah, no problem. Yeah, so I was just listening to the other radio and you were naming the 15 teams. You can consider taking that four spot. And you said, I heard Mississippi stayed. I heard a and M, or Tennessee, maybe Florida. I mean, I think it's hard to mention those teams. If you're not even going to mention old mess, I realize we just lost Matt corral, but lane kiffin's done and amazing job of turning the program over in these past couple of years. We got Jackson diet to replace him. We stole Zach Evans, the PCU, and I don't know if you've seen almost a schedule this year, but it is rather easy, starts out with four free wins that will help Jackson get acquainted. And then from there, it's just what did Wayne Kevin can really finalize the deal. I mean, I don't really see any big competitors, the final stretch, they go, a and M, Bama, Arkansas, and Mississippi. And obviously bam was going to be going to be a major challenge. But if any of Nick Saban's old assistant coaches can do the job, you know, I think lane kiffin be the one to do it. I appreciate the call, hunter. I think it is a major testament to the job lane kiffin has done. To look at last year's team with a historically epic productive quarterback in Matt corral, ten regular season wins, a record for olmes, to lose so much and to say they're going to be as good. And frankly, to be in a quote unquote, reloading, rebuilding year, whatever you want to call it for all this. And if they go 8 and four, I would call that a huge testament to the job that Lincoln has done. But I am not, I have all missed at like 6 place in the west. So I am not picking oldness to challenge for the playoffs. To be honest, I don't Florida is not in that group either. The only reason I said Tennessee or Kentucky is because they could finish second in the east. Again, I'm not picking any of those teams to go. 11 and one, but Kentucky won ten games last year. So let's not go. They haven't lost as much. They still have their quarterback. I think the west schedules are tougher too. So I don't think it's Arkansas Mississippi state LSU or old miss because they the schedules are too hard. A and M would be the pick. If you're trying to make a case for a second place team in the SEC to make the playoff, it would be Texas a and M but then you're asking Texas a and M not to do Texas a and M things. Which is to be perfect. In every other game, not named Alabama. And I don't know if I'll believe it when I see it. With Texas a and M I think they're ten and two. And I don't think that's good enough to get into the playoff. So I really don't think a third SEC team is in this conversation to be fair. I do think oldness is a really good program with lane kiffin and their schedule is real front loaded. They could go 7 and O and then own 5. It's real tough in November. So I still think I like Mississippi a lot. I think that's going to be a real dangerous football team. But their schedule is nasty. Nasty. 855-242-7285 ray from San Antonio ray, welcome to the show. How are you, sir? Hey brother, how you doing today? Doing well, man. Blessings to I am an Aggie class of 1980 and I'm a really try to not include any bias in this, but a and M to get over the top. It has taken step one by beating Alabama here at home, but they're really going to have to beat Alabama in the way big game. I think to really command the respect that Alabama already commands, I think that can happen. And if it does, I think a and M will supplant Alabama. Obviously, and I think that if they go take care of business, you just said it and I totally agree with you when the games that they need to win and win a big game or two, then I think they can be right there.

"Get on the edge of the playoff or a win the west or win the SEC. Losing all those defensive linemen is going to make it a little tough, but they should be better on the offensive line and most importantly the pain's king is healthy or max Johnson comes out. And wins that job or kind of weiman has a really big debut. They got to get me better at the quarterback spot because again last year, pastor efficiency, this is an offensive lead. And last year they ranked 13th in past efficiency ahead of only Vanderbilt and so an 8 and four and beat Alabama. So again, a lot of pieces, a lot of talent. It's just about put it together. And if you can do that, or you can come close to that, ten or 11 wins gets real realistic in a hurry. I was interested that Florida is on your list and I forgot how bad Florida was last year. But I mean, they've got so many things going for them and I was really excited until I caught the end of the article where you mentioned their schedule. I mean, this is absurd when you think about playing Utah in the opener, could be a top ten team. Road game of Tennessee and Texas a and M, you also have LSU on the schedule. Yes, tough road. It's a tough road, but I think ultimately, you know, there's still a team that if you're playing okay, you can still sniff around. Yeah. You can still sit around and win 8 or 9 games if you can do that. I mean, obviously, even that you call matchup is a tough one, but the ultimately, you know, this is still a team that they can't be worse. Florida late left season last year, watching them just get embarrassed by South Carolina. That was sort of like a what is happening here. We're wondering if that mole was going to get fired that night. And you're just not going to see that. And I think there's still some teams that they've just got a lot more talent than on the in their division. And in the league and it's about winning those games and those are games they didn't win last year. It's kind of amazing that I wrote that piece after September. I think they're only wins over FBS teams where Florida state and Vanderbilt and there's some skins on the wall that if you're operating even close to your potential, the Florida can get, because last year, you'd be hard pressed to find me a team that played below its talent level more than 40. One more on this on the other side, those who you're concerned about, they had such a such an incredible year winning ten game sugar ball. What concerns you the most other than other than the obvious losing Matt corral? Yeah, I mean, I think it's easy to say, well, they got Jackson dart and they upgraded Zach Evans and those kind of things to replace new Connor and Jerry and Eli and those guys at the back but you're still talking about a guy in Jackson dark who's played like 5 games and you're trying to, at the most important position and we saw how important Matt corral was in with them last year. You know, when he went out in the sugar bowl, that defense or that offense really grinded to a halt. And you're talking about a, you know, a possible top ten pick in the draft and saying, well, we'll be fine because we got this 5 star that's played a handful of games at USC. Jackson has a really good player. I think him and lane kitten have a lot of potential. Do some special things, but I'm not sure it's going to happen overnight. And the idea that they're going to in the SEC West Coast in after a ten win season and have anything close to that is asking a lot. Always fun with David Evan of the athletica. Look ahead to next year. It's never too early, even though it's really not that too early any longer. David, thank you. Great to have you on. Thank you. I appreciate it, Paul. Good stuff. "For 10% off at get true kava dot com and use code Ben one zero for 10% off. That makes sense. And I understand that through breathwork and through anchoring into the present moment, we can begin to develop this ability to be able to operate well under significant stress. Would you say there's anything else mentally or emotionally that are big big things that you focus on? Yeah, I mean, I think one of the things we won't get into it today, but I've got a math equation for what kind of this looks like. I had to figure out a way. I had to figure out, yeah, so not only to develop the systems and the understanding, but then how do I train operators? How do I train anybody? How do I communicate this effectively? So people get it. And super smart people around me, I mean, guys from Wharton had a performance of the pirates who was working the navy at the time, doing some things with us. Like, really big brain people. And I would send down things like hey, does this work? And we came up with this math equation for how do I develop certain behavioral traits that we identified through about 300 interviews that exist in the top tier performance former and either don't exist or exist in very small forms and fashion at the lower end of the spectrum. And what we found was these and I kind of just talked about them. I call it their C three, which is an extreme level of comfort and very uncomfortable or dysregulating situations. They just can go anywhere in the world anytime, just because they're good because they've anchored that model of safety and trust in themselves, which leads to the second C, which is confidence, a true faith in self, a true faith in their own abilities and their training, which then leads to the third level, which is creativity. The ability to figure it out. I mean, I spent my life being dropped into various countries with crap information, half stuff, this, that, like, okay, go sort it out. And you just learned a natively do that over time and experience. However, following the district process, you can begin to speed that up rapidly. But in that component, the key aspect that is the developer of that is a person's level of openness, which can be measured. And openness is a kind of a composite of curiosity use of imagination and humility. And so when I have those subtle factors behind the scenes, when people are truly open to experiences, open to learning, they're not coming with all their judgment, like, oh, no, somebody else taught me this, and this is the way it goes. It's like breathwork. I mean, it's all valuable to me. As long as it's practice, as long as it's developed as long as there's some data behind it, you got to find what works for you. I'm not like you have to do it this way, kind of guy. So those key aspects at the underlying aspect of human behavior are the catalysts for real performance, real change, real capability. Yeah. Yeah, and there's kind of a corollary here and this is kind of a perfect segue because I wanted to get into this whole idea of unstable, physical loading because I know that's something else. 'cause that's where this whole idea of sandbags and Sanford kettlebells and things that you guys have it at brute force come in. You know, what I've found is when training with kettlebells and sandbags and kegs and so called strongman training, I still think one of the better books out there I read back in the day on an interview on my podcast, I'll find a link and put it in the show notes for y'all at Ben Greenfield fitness dot com slash brute force podcast, the strength coach named Zach Evans. I think I was one of the best strong man training books out there. It's kind of like how I learned to build up my little garage gym and chock full of equipment that is full of unstable loads. I've found that when I wind up in the average hotel gym with nautilus machines and symmetrical barbells and dumbbells that it feels. So easy. But mentally and physically compared to this unstable, unpredictable loading. And obviously, from a very broad standpoint, most people get it that when you use an unstable load or something that's slightly asymmetrical like a kettlebell that you are going to develop the ability to perhaps recruit muscles in a manner that allows for more stability, but I'd love to take an even deeper dive into what's going on with so called. I think you guys are brute force call it, call it ulu training. Yeah, so that's kind of the core fundamental process. The unstable load odd object was what was developed. Unstable load, odd object. Unstable load object. So that was the program that one of our team members, Chris lane came up with phenomenal guy super beast, way forward thinker. And put it to the test, took it to the universities, started laying it out. We're going to be launching the level one certification course online here in about three months, I think. But this is kind of the fundamental context of the sandbag or whatever shifting load work you're going to do. For me, I love it now 47 years old. A lot of damage to the body. A lot of use on this kid over time. And for me, what I find is fundamentally because it is, you are, no matter what your movement is, your body is always regulating. You know, I compare it to like the new way to design cars. You're driving the car. However, what's going on underneath of that is suspension is constantly shifting, tire pressures may be shifting like if you're buying a fully upgraded car. The calculations that are being done to make that a smooth ride for you are incredible. And that's really a good comparison to working with the unstable load to working with the sandbags. You're taking very specific basic movements that you may do on CrossFit or other environments now, but you're adding a level of complexity because you are internally managing this load that is constantly moving back and forth. I mean, it's always funny to me when I see other sandbags out there or people out there who pack their sandbags so full it basically becomes just a weighted bar. Yeah, that's a funny thing. If it's twofold, it's actually paradoxically easier. It's heavier, but easier. Absolutely, you know? And so because you are firing all the neuromuscular connective tissue, all the activities inside all the internal stuff, you're actually being the geek that I am. I'm now putting painted data to this to look at what's actually happening within the central nervous system. Heart rate raises faster, increases recovery time at a faster rate. If combined with breath work, and we can talk about some of the things that we're doing. So I'm literally laying out now taking the fundamentals we learned, the things we did in the operational environment now truly like breaking them down into this fitness model and we've been in conversations about what's next beyond functional fitness. What's next beyond what's out there and we're testing it out in the challenge now with a lot of people moving more towards this idea of instinctual fitness. This idea of full body brain mind breath work alignment in the activity so that I am re anchoring points of safety. I'm extending my point of comfort. I'm willing to be a little more discomfortable. Uncomfortable more uncomfortable. Yeah, sorry about that. Cover from a couple days of brain fog a couple months ago. Still not far and I'm all cylinders. I'm glad we didn't do this yesterday. I canceled a show yesterday that I was going to be on because I was just not functioning. Why? Second, why were you not focusing? Oh, so post my COVID in November. Oh, it was like post COVID brain fog. Yeah, man. And some days it just comes out of nowhere, and it's like, I'm just, I feel like I'm an idiot. Yeah. There's certain things that can have like a lot of those intranasal peptides like C max and cerebral licenses. Those are amazing for that. I think that's the top of the totem pole. And then the other thing is from a technology standpoint, like the two things because I've had people with brain fog and even post COVID issues who visit my house and down to my basement I have all these toys.

Um, alternates sweep to the right side gets a nod to the 33 yard line doctor made by Tattersall as he goes around right out. That's a good good run, though. That got kind of seven or eight yards on that Make it eight second and two were in the fourth quarter. Now less than 12 minutes to go. Not going to do 33 yard line, the front side zone. TCU is going for two here. Make it a three point game. Yep, This is what it makes sense. Fourth quarter, right? You're going to get into a three point game. So field goal only ties it.
