"They were happy. They were happy to play some pun hunt. They didn't need to possess the puck. And the way here's the biggest problem is I think the way you have to adjust to playing against the lightning's particular variation of the one three one is you have to almost go for home run passes. You almost have to break out at 5 on 5 the way you would on the power play. Like you need to gain the line and make a quick pass, but you've got three guys squeezing plus, you know, a really good defender back there. And if you turn it over, it's going the other way. And the abs aren't like a super fast team that you acknowledge. The lightning R and a super fast team that punishes you necessarily against the grain a ton. But if they get the chance to go for it, they go for it. They go for it. And I don't know how you reliably break them down as a skilled team without playing a pretty high risk style. Like leaving yourself relatively exposed to those sorts of counters. And for me anyway, just based on how I'd gauge the lightning speed, I think you have to live with that. And that's, I mean, that's a tough way to live. If you're an opponent, I think, yeah, I get the vibe watching those games back that the Panthers didn't do a pre scout of the lightning. It feels like they almost didn't watch the leafs around one series because obviously they have different personnel. Or just watch their own first round series. No, no, no, but there's certain things the leafs did. Strategically that the Panthers theoretically should have been able to emulate at least in some capacity, right? The leafs created so many odd man rushes from pressuring high in the defensive zone because if the lightning do have one weakness, you don't necessarily want Zach bogosian to be on his back foot handling a bobbling puck at the blue line. Any of their defense and really like, you know what I mean? Even Victor hedman. Amazing all world defender. He's enormous individual. And one of the negatives of that is when the puck gets in their skates, it can become kind of clumsy for them to try to fish it out, even for a brick or headman. That's his one weakness. If the puck is in front of him, even if you have it for a second, you won't have it for long, because he will take it from you. Yes. And that's what's amazing to me with this lightning team. If you play into their hands of allowing them to lean on you like that physically, you're gonna lose..

"Playoff goals in the history of the Tampa Bay lightning, one, two cups there. He made his return at Tampa Friday night. I got an awesome video tribute, a nice day in the know from the crowd. Good read about him to I sent over to you guys Koopa call them quote, one of the game changes end quote for Tampa Bay franchise history and let's go to ufa a little tide joke. Before you go, he was one of those guys. I believe was open to the expansion draft as well and never got selected by Vegas. And just kind of a guy who got pigeon toss a little bit, kind of like the bad knob special. But still came back and played hard and was a pivotal piece in the Stanley cups in the back to back for the lightning. Yeah, and a lot of people have mentioned how they lost their third line of Coleman Gordon goudreau and it's like, not many people are talking about that they lost Johnson and he was playing up and down the lineup. Certainly at the end of his lightning career lower, but the fact that they had him playing on the fourth line kind of showed how good that team was. They're really going to miss him. I think they're probably still missing. And what happened is he signed that deal and then some players came in and so it was almost like a money thing where they couldn't afford them. I'm sure the lovely the lightning would still love to have them if he was making less money. But he came on the scene and I remember that run they had, they beat the bruins, was it the second round RA? And he was unstoppable. I think teddy Purcell was on that team. He's just like this water bug who is so hard to play against. An American kid, but he played in the WHO and if I have that correct, so I didn't know much about him and then he came to Tampa and kind of one of those guys that was there for the switch and the turnaround and that run that they made to the cup finals when they lost the Blackhawks. He was one of their best players. I mean, he was their guy and so he was injured. He ended up getting injured and that was a big reason as to why they the Chicago probably went on to win. And I just remember like seeing right away like holy fuck this guy, he's kind of got a nonstop motor and not many people knew that much about him. But after being one of the players who had all the success in the AHL with coop, winning a Calder cup, he came up with that entire crew. They learned how to win young, and that kid was an enormous player because once they got kucherov and stamkos, stamkos was their granted, but like they had some real game breakers that started coming in and making differences. This lineup, his lineup spot kind of lowered down a little bit, but only to have him play on a third, fourth line rolling to have that much skill will also have in like the motor of four checking and kind of being in your face all the time. It's what made the lightning cup champs two years in a row as guys like that. So you've seen all these return visits and guys get their rings and get to see their teammates, but Johnson made an enormous impact even before the two cups in the years prior. And if they did win that cup in 15, he was probably the likely con smite winner. He led the league in scoring in goals that year. Did he break his leg in that? Or was it his arm? I can't remember. Yesterday let alone 2015, Paul. Another pretty cool highlight of Tampa Bay Zach bogosian and his son hunt that had a nice little scrap on the ice. Did you see that wet is three year old son hot that he brought him up? No, I didn't. I didn't glue in the feet. Pound my son. Get him again, get him against Hezbollah. Hezbollah, what a video check that out if you haven't Caleb and has bula in Dubai. Oh yeah, unreal interview. So yeah, just a cute little video that the people throughout. I'm sorry that Zach throughout that nice little nice little thing. The same people going at Tyson Nash are now going up bogosian. He's going to teach us good violence. Shut up. We had a real flukey thing happened. I was talking to biz last night with. I wonder what the odds are of this. Both Sebastian aho squid within 34 seconds of each other the other night. Like it hasn't been what? Million to one odds that this happens? No, I read something that the ajo only has three goals on the islanders in the same night. The other one scored like two out of the three nights or something crazy like that. So whatever you just said made no sense. So this ajo on the islanders has three goals and on two of the days, the real good aho scored the same day. So I was surprised. The odds aren't that great from Finland. I thought I thought Sebastian aho's a name. You got a Sweden, you got a fin, I was surprised to hear different nations there. But it was still wild to see that happen. What did you say? 30 seconds within 34 seconds real, like real time. And it was just a third goal for the defensive and the 176 for the forward I hold in Carolina. So yeah, that's just a crazy fluke thing. Raccoon is what perhaps the check of the year, one of the best tires of the absolutely sends Kirby Doc ASTRO boutique with a cast brightest like hip check. I think if you zoom in on the audio biz, you can hit Kirby's act going fun. Good one, all right. I actually got your joke for once. As he hits the ice, but we don't see too many hits like that anymore. Old scratch goes old school as he is old school. He's a great number 5 or 6 down there in Florida, the shot blocker, the physical presence. He looks like it looks like he's out of like a Lord of the Rings or something with that beard too. He already does big old bushy bed. He just played in the 600th game the other night as well. So congrats to Ratko goudas on the accomplishment. Evander kaney set a record since we last met Paul. Racked up four penalties and just 7 41 of game time to set a new expansion era record. You got a roughing and interference in two tripping. You ever see a guy get rung up this many times in one night..

"They get a player making $1.25 million for the next two years. So their big pieces are already signed. Edmund vasilevskiy, stamkos, point, already all signed. If you look at their roster, they don't do anything in free agent in free agency that costs money. The free agents they have are and I'll probably forget one. Corey Perry, Patrick maroon, Zach bogosian, Brian Elliott, is the backup goalie. And I'm missing one more. 5 depth pieces. On their roster. That's it. Everybody else is either draft or trade. Tampa knows what they're doing. And so yeah, it was a huge price, but they're like, yeah, but that's okay. We feel we can mitigate that price. Nick Paul is going to be a nice fit there. Look, Matthew Joseph has got an Arby's. And they're like, it's not going to work. So they move them along and they get Nick Paul, Nick Paul is a free agent at the end of the year. This is a cautionary view looking at Nick Paul right now. He just turned down $10 million from Ottawa. He's going to be a free agent this summer. What if the $10 million isn't there? There's no guarantee you will be. I mean, who knows, right? Yeah. If he has a really good run here, sure it will be. I mean, not in Tampa. But it might be somewhere else. It comes to mind. Yeah. Well, and just think we had duclair on. And he's like, yeah, but I wanted to take control. And he's gone on and earned everything that he's got. Excellent. But declare was playing for his life. And he answered and was able to do so, like Nick Paul had 10 million declared him to have anything. Nick Paul had $10 million four years. And he's like, no, I think I'm worth 12 million. Yeah. Well, now we're going to make me nervous. All right. Well, speaking of being nervous, I wouldn't say that Bill zito and the Florida Panthers had a reactionary trade season here, right? I think that zero clearly identified the pieces that he felt were going to be in play. You've talked for the last several weeks about their need to shore up their defense, right? So they overpay for Ben sharad as a pending unrestricted free agent. There's no other way to look at that trade. But no different than the package that Julian bracewell gave up for Brandon Hagel. How many shots do you have a truly being a top Stanley Cup contender? Not that money, right? It's not that many. Well, obviously the Florida path is believed that that's where they are. As we talked about an episode 25 last week, you like the balance of Ben chiarot brings to the defense. And then they finally close the book on closure and they get close Giroux brought in. So if there's a gap between the Florida Panthers and the Tampa Bay lightning or was a gap.

"Through this little spell. Maybe they missed three out of four cuts. And those are the guys you're gonna be interested. I'm gonna be interested in watching and following because you're gonna witness how are they approaching getting through the grind of a lull and golf. And it's like a roller coaster. And so guys who are the best in the world still have times where they can't hit a fairway, it seems like, and then you have the cameras around. You're gonna see, I think a lot of it will be mental things to end up getting out of certain funks. Swing mishaps and little kinks in your swing can happen, but a lot of these guys, it's mental and to witness how it will go down with how much inside information will get from the cameras and the players themselves. I can't wait. I don't know if they'll be dropping in the series as the season goes or just wait till the end of the season like F one does and just drop ten episodes or whatever it is. Especially with those individual sports. Like you said like F one where these guys are on a bit of an island, whereas opposed to like if you're doing like a team behind the scenes type thing, now who are some NHL guys if let's say you could pick like 12 NHL guys who are some names you'd want to be able to follow behind the scenes for maybe a half a season, maybe a whole season definitely. Yes, that's a great answer. Kutcher off. I want to see couture of no question just I mean, Austin Matthews because his relationship with Bieber. Yeah, you get a little bit more star power there. That's a great answer. He don't give a fuck. He'd be hilarious 'cause he's a young kid, but doesn't seem to kill other people. Talking you could just never do it because it's team sport. You can't just have the cameras there for one guy. I would say oshi because he doesn't really follow hockey much. So obviously he's doing a lot of other things to keep himself. Directors like TJ, you got a game turn. He's like, what? Go introduce yourself to the guys in the other team first. Radula would be great too. I think ragged off would be hilarious. I think ovi for sure got to see what's going on at the pregame meals. He'd be great too. I mean, for all the guy very vocal, big chip, but he'd be pretty entertaining to watch. So, yeah, like you said, though, it's pretty unlikely it would happen, but it's good to go to imagine they could do it. Actually, that Amazon thing they did on Toronto last season. That was great. It was only like three or four seasons, but it was the closest I've seen to HBO's 24/7 since they did 24/7. You know, they got all the swearing intact and behind the scenes footage if you haven't seen a check it out, man. I'm hoping they do it this year. When you said Joel burnsy, Brent burns would be fine, especially if you got to go back to his property in Texas. He got 200 acres there Keith. KY, I mean, all types of just for the socks alone would be. Yeah, you could do it definitely a different mix, right? You could do or like Austin's hanging out with the celebrities, you get the more laid back like burns you on the ranch. You got the Russians. The rush gave to whatever the fuck they're going into. Who else? Give me one more last name to wrap it up. Each guy. Patti maroon. Oh yeah, that would be that would be fun. Why am I struggling with that? Maybe the truck bra is a better job. I see a bench at the DJ in the DJ booth. All right. Jack brother's whacking each other on the nuts. Yeah, and one more from you are a last one. Last one for me. The warthog. Raju loft? I think she just said that. That's right. Or I gave a little warthog son. Fuck man. Peter Noel. Zach bogosian. He seems like he'd be a character. These are all the guys who seem like they'd be a little more fun. They've been around the bush a little. I'm gonna be rude for your packers. Believe it or not, I got a couple futures from before the season. You could bet possible, Super Bowl matchups. I have packers versus bills at 65 to one and package where his chiefs had fought you to one. So I'm on a package guy per se, but all I need is them to get there. I don't need them either team to win. Just get there. And I'll cash in before the game even starts. And I texted you guys yesterday just to go back to the football. A couple of different lines on the game. So I bought a few points, was that what he called? Philadelphia, Tampa Bay game, I bet over 44 and I bet under 49 and ended up on 46 points. So basically, if it lands in between, even if it lands on one of the numbers, you'll push and win. So I hit both sides of that. It landed 46 points off. Nice little pop. Anytime you can find those tween is, they don't happen often, but often, but they're a nice little payoff if you can find one. Oh, better than me losing my 450 bucks to your fucking Euler's wet. But yeah. Most what do you say, frustrating loss of his entire career, McDavid? Yeah, he looked he looked to spawned it after that game and that press conference. Before we wrap up, I got two things I watched that I would recommend I enjoyed. We went to my wife and I went to Mexico this past week. We were there Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday night, which was great little getaway. We did a trip after rider was born alone and then after one and we did a trip alone after a white turned one. So I stayed at mayakoba. They actually have a PGA Tour event there. Unreal to 25, 30 minutes outside of cancun, incredible. There's 5 different resorts in this mayakoba area. There's a fair amount. There's a banyan tree one of them is called. We say that rose would Myo. One of my favorite vacations. I had a blast. I had so much chips and guac. I'm not going to chipotle for two weeks since I got home. I said, but on the flight there, I watched the documentary on Anthony Bourdain called the road runner. I didn't know much about him, but what an amazing life and a tragic end and I don't consider it spoiling because I knew before I watched the show even though I didn't know a lot about him, but he committed suicide a few years ago, but seeing this guy's life and who he was and how he became who he was, I recommend it to anyone. I loved seeing it and just a wild life for somebody who just never stopped. Actually, there's a lot of similarities between you two in that he just loved working and he's so passionate about so many different parts of life. I recommend that. And then I watched a movie is called, I'd never even heard about it. I was searching iTunes for stuff to download. It was the card counter..

"I wanted to send such a good trivia question. This is a great question too. Kane? I heard this on the radio this morning. Shut up. I think I have to give up. So I got three. I couldn't get the fourth. It's Kane, I got. I got Andrew Ladd. I got who was the other guy I got. Wheeler. Blake wheel. That was an easy one. And the fourth one, I can't even fucking remember right now. Oh my God. You can mull it mullet over and you'll figure it out. Yeah, or it can move on. We can come back to it. Well, we got some big news. The chiclets cup, Mikey grinnell. What is going on here? The chiclets cup. We had a major rebrand so first off, we have two big things. We have a major rebrand. The barstool hockey fest will now be called the chiclets cup. Elite elite name. And number two, February 3rd and fourth. We will be in Las Vegas for the first checklist cup in our second hockey term in the NHL All-Star Game. It's gonna be a hell of a weekend. We can't disclose the location yet, but we can tell you we're breaking out all the stops. We got special guests. It's gonna be Vegas themed. It's gonna be incredible. All web based talk about it for a sec. But we're breaking out all the stops for this one. Well, I'm playing in it, and then we can't mention the special guests and we can't mention the location. So other than the fact that it's going to be great and competitive like the last one and the whole cruise going to show up. The barstool team I'm sure is going to put a team in. I would like to maybe have a separate team, not saying that I don't want the bar. I just want a little bit control as maybe like a GM slash coach. Maybe even have wit as one of the brass with me. And then we'll get bob Murray as well. We'll see what bob Murray's up to and we'll hire him. Zach bogosian. It will be the same setup for the last time, though. Roller and ball hockey. So start getting your teams together, start sending us videos. We'll reserve a spot for you if you send us a good video. I'll tell you that right now. All right, will you play that one more time in that one? Or are you done? Are you Vegas dude are you kidding me? He might not even show up to the tournament. As I say, can I can you play on no sleep out there? Maybe. I don't know. I'm done. I'm done have to Detroit. I had my fun. I paid for it for about two weeks after that. I'm officially tired. Yeah, Vegas probably the worst city to get me in equipment, especially all style weekend. I'll be having my fun elsewhere. But I'll be there for the festivities. I assure you that Paul. Yeah, so I'm just gonna say so we'll have more info in the coming weeks where you can sign up how you can sign up. But like I said, start getting your teams together, start planning this because it's going to come up fast. What about the content side of it? They don't have to submit videos this time, or is that he just said this a video? No, I don't, it's not mandatory. You don't have to sell this video. But if you do send a video, you send us a sick video that, you know, you go out all the way beyond your spot. Yeah, we'll reserve a spot for you. We got no problem doing that. Good. All right, good to know. Bogosian was the last guy. Yeah, but goji was third overall pick there and O 8 and played three seasons, I think. So that's the four. Come on. We gotta get them all. Yeah, yeah, bogo said it'll come on at some point. We gotta grab that guy. He's funny bastard. Hell of a career. All right, boys, about time to send it over to Sean thorn, but we want to let you know that this interview is brought to you by Cecil..

"They don't think they're dis really that. Good when you look at the six and you know first of all. Every team has a hole in the in the cap world. It's just like that but my point on this is that i think that there's no team in the nhl that is better prepared to deal with their weaknesses because of the way they play systemically like that's a team that recognizes what its weaknesses are and they play in a way to minimize those weaknesses. So do i agree that maybe when you look at the six. It doesn't look perfect. Yes but i would also say that because of the way they play and i really liked their goalies. You know especially sarokin. I think they're going to be fine. And i think that's the best team in the metro vision. We'll see where it ends up by to me. They're the metro winners at my start of the season. There's a couple of things here with the islanders one. I love the first line i think. Brazil lee palmeri as a trio. Have all the makings of one of the best potential to be one of the best lines in the nhl period of those lines. You look at and you say like him in the last two weeks. This was the best line in the nhl. So that's one that i love with the islanders. The other thing. And there must have been. And i don't know this for a fact but if chris chellios ever played with zach bogosian when he played his of games in atlanta. That would have this one beaten because chile was would have been forty seven and big ocean would have been twenty one. But i just love the idea of forty four year olds dino chara playing with twenty one year. Old noah dobson. When's the last time you saw an age. Swing that large between defensive pairs forty four and twenty one. I would have to think somewhere along the way chellios probably has the record and the one pops out is a wonder if he did play with the golden there must have been some on detroit. That were young. That had that much of an age swing but chara dobson forty four twenty one. I love it each. And i love the goaltending too but i think we all do all right from the the islanders. We go to the rangers. And here's where we pas and talk about eight years eight point five million dollars and it's all bonuses. not unlike alexander barkov young advantage. Ed deal go. One of the things i heard was that the rangers didn't wanna go eight years and so they kind of bent and suggested bent on the number. As you mentioned. It's a really bonus heavy deal. It's buyout proof. That's the risk for the rangers. Is that sabrina. Who's a little bit older. They are taking the risk by doing a proof deal up until the time he's going to be about thirty seven so it's a challenge. I mean there's no question about that. You know the one thing i always think is. If you're going to gamble gamble on the guys you know. The rangers knows have been adjusted. And i don't think that's insignificant. The other thing. I think here is and i heard this from a couple of people. Zibanejad is not the kind of guy who would have enjoyed going into the year on signed. People said to me that he is the kinda guy who would say you know what. I'm gonna feel a lot better if i'm signed and i'll do what it takes to get signed and that is what obviously happened here. The rangers have made it very clear in all their public comments that they are not in on eichel. I kind of look at it this way. I think they were in. I think they collected the information. Like there's been reports. The buffalo won't send eagle east. I don't believe that. I do think their preferences to punish him as far away as they could but for example of the rangers came up with the best offer. I think they would have traded him there however i think the rangers believed that their offer had to be x. Times better than the next best offer to get it done. And i don't think they ever got to a place where they were comfortable. And then those of an agenda and they got it done. They got a big contract. Now it's been a bad. There's big contract sitting there with our tammy perrin this big contract sitting there with jacob trueba and there's a big contract on the horizon without him fox. Yeah that's gonna be a big one so it's gonna be tight for them for a couple years plus eventually cocco and as you mentioned la frontier. They're going to be on their second deals. I think it's going to be a really interesting time for them. We've talked about. We're three years away from growth in the cap right. Yep that's what everybody thinks so. It's going to be an interesting dance for them to see how they kind of fit this out. But the rangers they believe in stars. They've got a couple of them they've got potentially more. We'll see where this goes. But i think at the end of the day they just said it's hard to find top centers. They knows have been a jet. He's their guy. Okay so here becomes the question. And i think the answer is yes because this is all about you know the development of alexi laugher year. This is about the development of capital. Kako this is another year of adam. Fox and kay. Andre miller and ryan lindgren. Let me ask you barkley. Good grow reeves sammy blaze. We know they got tougher. Did they get better juicy them. Try to chase obama around the is the other night. Yeah and kreider finally got to him. So i'm watching this. And i do think this aban reeves thing was an accident. Suzanne doesn't injure people. What do you think. I just think it was sloppy. I don't think it was deliberate. Attempt to injure thought it was a sloppy play. It wasn't a slew foot and there was an arm over the chest to push down and sweeping of the leg. He just went into the corner and was sloppy thinking. Nothing's going to happen here. That's how i looked at it. This is not a slight against pk. Sue people sloppy plays all the time i just looked at it and said that was a sloppy play. An accident that went awry. I don't think any of it was deliberate. I agree with that. I think sloppy is probably a better way to put it. I just don't think he tried to injure him at all. I mean it's not something that sue band does. But i know some people thought that was over the top and unnecessary to me that everything. The rangers wanted to see from their team this year this year if played for the islanders in that happened the islanders were chased ban all over the ice right. Because that's who they are and it's very clear that the rangers thought that they were missing that last year and i thought it was interesting that that's what they did that night on behalf of the guy who's supposed to do that for them. I think they are better anti stuart. What's one of anthony's great lines. Are you a team or club yup. So.

"Remember each at twenty four seven. That scene were damn balls. Was taking one timer. In the puck flippant overlake and each gary bettman. Nhl gary bettman nhl gary bettman nhl. Gary bettman and i'm like this guy. I used to seek killing penalties with with the end. Lapierre air in los angeles because it doesn't look like he can shoot the puck that great kyle dubious has a better shot than dan byles mma. I thought that do baz's comments about william neulander. Were interesting talking about how. And he kinda smiles and laughs to himself before he says you know he'll drive you crazy on one hand you'll drive you nuts and then turn around and do something that that no one else can do in the league. It was pretty neat stuff about nick. Felino getting traded and those visuals. I thought was good. The interesting thing about the scene with joe thornton. Nick healers you reference when thornton's going on about diving diving diving what. I was really hoping was going to happen. Was to your point. We didn't hear because there are going at each other between the boxes. Yes i was really hoping we'd hear what he had to say. The other person i wanted to hear. And this is just knowing. Paul maurice a little bit. I would love to have heard a comment from paul maurice while that was going on. I was with the marlies. When paul was the coach of doing color with john. Bartlett and i remember there was one game was the marley's against syracuse crunch. And i think it was john poll. Who would have taken the penalty on a really bad dive by geoff. Platt remember jeff. Platt played suryadi jumblatt and he kind of had that rep a little bit too. And i remember remember when he did it to draw the penalty. Paul maurice went banana sandwich. He went crazy he went. He went nuts on the call. I remember asking him afterwards about it and he said there's a lot of things that i loved. What one thing that just can't stand is diving. I the dean same boils my blood. And i'd never seen paul maurice that angrier animated before which is why in that scene would love to see the winnipeg jets coach and of course heard Heard what nikki had to say about it now. By the way you talk about taveras yes. One of the things. I thought was really interesting. Was you talked about that. Whole situation on the ice when he was injured in. Yes it's it's quite haunting and it's quite chilling. Remember after there was the fight immediately with felino in perry and a lot of watching it. We're like like it. It just didn't feel right because it was obviously an accident. And i know all of us who are watching it that night in the lotus. Everybody in their felt that it didn't feel right and the load is for those of you not familiar with the lounge where we watch games during the broadcast. No ron was there. Kevin was there. Jennifer was there. And i was there and i know we. We all kind of felt you know we really need this. But then seeing simmons and hyman and felino talk about it on the ice. It's that moment where you realize what the athletes are thinking in that moment with what they know. And what we're thinking in that moment with what we know and we saw and we obviously don't have the same emotion. We're not wired like they are and i didn't like that fight but i had a greater understanding for why it happened. Seeing the three of them talk about it so watching that fight on this piece on the amazon piece. I didn't focus as much on nick. Felino who everybody really focusing on during this fight as you know the guy who wanted the guy that was doing it honor code all that stuff in order to really noticed corey. Perry you notice what corey perry didn't do during that fight at all. The i didn't roll punch didn't throw single punch is psalms if he was like okay. This is the way it has to be. This is the old school way now. I need to take my lumps for an accident. Whatever this is just the way we do things even try to throw a punch not at all you know. He got his gloves off. Quick and engage but didn't even try to do anything. The whole thing was bizarre. I don't want to relitigate that. I really don't it's history but i'm just talking about the moment that they talk about it on the show. I found it very revealing. There's a couple of things weren't one of the I am this. I love this kind of talk. Talking to the leadership group tournament beliefs in talking about the inability to score off of rebounds. And we're last in the league scoring off rebounds which is where you know a team like peter devore's teams like that's what their offense has all belt around scoring rebounds i thought that was pretty neat. L. relate this stuff on zach. Bogosian city was grandma but that wear nice Really touching anyway. I don't want to give a hint tire thing but You have further thoughts on this. The one thing. I would've liked to have seen more was exit meetings but i wonder if they were just like told to get out. Well like jack campbell. After game seven they had a shot on them in the room. For about ten seconds that will stick with people but there wasn't much from exit meetings. And i would see this too. I had a very interesting conversation on saturday night. So after the game that we worked the montreal. Toronto preseason game a few of us went to have a beer and craig simpson was there. And you know craig hadn't seen it yet chris. Johnson was there and Chris had seen. It and chris was explaining the scene before game. Seven kyle has the meeting with mitch monir and basically from the way. I haven't watched it yet. I watched this all on sunday and so to me. It really wasn't that bad. But craig brought up a really good point. He said that he thinks that you're hurting the player with a camera there and i thought i thought a laudable craig's point you know when i went home and i was around on sunday and i was preparing for this podcast and then i watched it so craig told the story about one player before a big game a huge game they had and the player was like i have no confidence right now. I'm really struggling very similar way. Mitch monitor was going into game seven and he said that he couldn't even imagine trying to do that with a camera there. He said he ran. You got footage of the player. Doing incredible things say like this is how good you are. This is what you can be man. He just said that he doesn't think that in a moment like that. And we've talked about this topic ad nauseam. But i really found craig's perspective interesting that he doesn't think a player in that moment will trust the situation with a camera there and he doesn't think you can reach a player properly with a camera there. That's an excellent point and at certain points. I would suggest that there are some players that don't wanna see anything because the cameras there and there are others that might perform because the cameras there at all just depends on your personality and the nature of the conversation. I think that's a great point..

"Aw to feel like an kevin fiala another huge part of it to feel like it's as their team now and all of that is good and done but you need coca presumptively a part of it because like we said of all these fires i just mentioned he is the most important one you know what they've maybe by our next episode on thursday i'll know more about the research situation from my source. The right now deal in place. So at least there is from wild fans glimmers of hope. Don't give up. Stay positive as i like to say. Emily no use as a positive. And i like to think that we're both optimistic people. We do cynical though. And i think that's why people like us. We have a careful eye on bangs. Yes breaking news. My babs back from a walk we are. I'm praying right now. That does sound effects. I alluded to earlier regarding frankenstein. Monsters on the roof with heavy boots and all of that will stop But right now it's good. You know what. I was looking at it which i founded speaking of rosters and different things. I think i'm going to name a player. I'm gonna play the guessing game with you. I'm going to name a veteran player. And i'm gonna tell you why. This player is a jinx. You have that look on your face for now which people can see and you look a little puzzled and so i like to have that lok seat that look on your face because it when i can make you puzzle because you seem to know everything i throw at you emily. There is a player in the last two postseasons. I that were that was in the stanley cup. Final but ended up being on the losing side. And now this new upcoming season. He is on undo team. And if i was a betting person. I think i'd have to bet against this team. Because this player is now part of it th bat roster doesn't make any sense to you. Is it corey perry. It is corey perry because let us go back in time when he was with the dallas stars although played great unbelievable and i'm a corey perry fan even on the goalie and he's a pain in my front of the net. He was great with dallas stars. We all remember their postseason. How great they were. And how close it came to beating. Tampa did not happen. Perry had a great great postseason. Move on to the montreal canadians. We all know what happened there. The canadians face the tampa bay lightning corey perry again in the middle of it. All and by the way he was the victim of the most blatant non coal in the history of non calls in the post season so he created chaos. But what happened emily. The canadians lost again in the stanley cup. Final and now corey. Perry is a member of the tampa bay. Lightning will he be the reason if they do not repeat. Will we blame corey perry. Oh i think we'll blame them. Losing their entire third line. that's fantastic but had liked. I think that's what all the goal is. The league wanna hear. Yes just just a random observation. That i that i just made. No i love it. And look i think the tampa bay lightning or one of the most fascinating teams. They are the team that are going to be on our network the first game. When we're back you're gonna see your girl and lee caplin Is i'm so excited for that. Game huge but hakkinen julian briefs wa especially. I had a really good conversation with pam right before free agency. He's the gm of that team. And i don't know of any. Gm had a more difficult offseason just in the decisions they had to make because this is someone who built his team exactly the right way. He did it through the draft. He made some sure moves. He emotional connections to so many of these players. Not only did they win. The stanley cup rings but he won with ebony aid shell as well minor league hockey and he basically had to say salary cap. I finally have to say my goodbyes and he did. And there's a lot of players that had to leave. I think he did a really good job in bringing in some interesting pieces like corey perry. It also helps though that when you're the tampa bay lightning and you play into team estate with no taxes. Guys wanna play there when you create the culture that you did guys wanna take less for the opportunity to win. And so you see players like zach bogosian Corey terry. Who's the there's one other. That's on the tip of my talk. Well they got a great backup. Brian elliott now for andrei vasilevskiy. They've picked up. Brian elliott. I one. I was thinking of all of these guys that are additive veteran. Put them in. Maybe you don't rely on them that much in the regular season but once it comes to the postseason they've got experienced Maybe they'll make stanley cup final again. And you're right. Maybe they lose because the court perry remember. I said that. And when you think about the tampa bay lightning obviously automatic favorite right to three peat but there are a couple other teams that we can't ignore that are always in the conversation and of course one of them is the colorado avalanche new disappointment again last year. Another early exit. Many people thought they had it all written. The script was written. The avs were going to win the cup. Last year nathan mackinnon was going to win. Every possible ward known to mankind if not it would have been mika raton and if not been solo grew bauer. Now gruber hours not there. He's a seattle crack in there. Are others coming and going. I cannot wait to share that nathan mackinnon view with that we had with him and he was very honest about his emotions which we weren't used to seeing but we saw them all and i post game interview after the avalanche lost. I love that so much that probably besides the nikitas couture love gucci like celebration and You know new beer commercial sponsorships. I mean i love how real nathan mackinnon was After the just disappointing early exit for the avalanche. So obviously colorado is right back as a top favorite to win the stanley cup. They are but the movement the summer. I mean they got rid of rube our because look they're focused on getting gabriel scott back and i'm glad they did it you yes out that. He's a very important player. He does a lot of things that don't appear on the box score. He's he's a great player for that team But it did cost of grube our and then they take the chance on darcy. Kemper being guy Because they had to who are who went to the seattle crack in ryan. Murray is a player. They brought in that. I think was brian art to bet on He didn't have the best season last year. But if he can get back on track and the right structure and then he can help them out. Did lose a lot as well. You know donskoy. Saad ryan grades. Connor timmons like specially donskoy inside a lot of scoring. That they're saying goodbye to and you know when i look back to them in that series that they lost against the vegas. Golden is firstly unfair. Draw right we. We should have been having not in the stanley cup. Final or at least the western conference final. We shouldn't have had early in the second round secondly about like their center depth with an issue. They just couldn't you know with the vegas golden knights also with physicality i felt like they weren't tough enough now. Those things i just mentioned is one player that both those things. It's nazem kadri. He was during that series. If he can stay literally in the lineup. Just don't get suspended. Nauseam qadri maybe. It's a different story But i'm curious. Those dole things are going to haunt them or we're gonna see You know their gm. Who joe zack has been one of the best jobs in the league. Last couple of years go big game hunting season. Get some help at the trade deadline. Improbably veteran help. And you know the journey that the tampa bay lightning took right. And we'll get into it with a captain steven stamkos in just a few moments right here on this episode of the pries..

"Necessarily anybody's fault. But you know, you just we live in a headline society and right now on almost every major local news source, the first thing you see is dead fish everywhere in the water and And I think the average person just thinks the water is a mess. I can't get in there. I can't go fishing in there. I'm not going to eat fish in there, not knowing that these professionals can find the spots and especially if you're a tourist and all you know who knows what kind of information you're getting. You know, it's not, You know, not everybody's got Ray Perkins on the line to kind of break it down for more even understand what's really going on. Exactly. So the Stanley Cup in the way that it works with each player getting a turn with. It is just fascinating to me because I just I wish that I could get a sneak peek at everybody and what they do with the Cup or the Cup after being injured in a slip and fall accident with Pat Maroon is completely fixed, refurbished and ready to go on the Stanley Cup tour, which allows the winning players and coaches to spend one day with the Cup and it will start tomorrow in Robbinsville, New Jersey. That is the hometown of Tampa Bay Lightning rookie forward Ross Colton. He scored the one and only goal in Game five of the Stanley Cup final, essentially winning the series. The Cup will then visit Kevin Shattenkirk on Saturday, according to a lightning official. While he is currently a defenseman with the Anaheim Ducks, he spent the previous season with the Lightning. He recorded 13 points and three goals and 10 assists in the Stanley Cup playoff run. Shattenkirk could not properly celebrate with the Cup after winning it in the Edmonton bubble in September of 22. 20. So now he'll finally get that chance. Although the that's crazy, right? Yeah, it is. I mean, it's nice for them to do that, but a bit unnecessary. Yeah, I would say I would say you missed your chance, bub. Although the entire tour has not been confirmed, yet unforeseen, but possible changes the schedule. You can assume the other lightning players from that season will also be seeing Lord Stanley. Those players being Cedric Pocket Carter Hagi, Alexander Volkov, Zach Bogosian and Braydon Coburn. The Cup certainly has a hectic schedule. It is traveling currently from Montreal to New Jersey. And there's a picture of it right here. Ready for my celebration tour looks as good As possible. It went under, underwent some reconstructive surgery to fix a dent that occurred during the celebration at Julian, Be Lane Riverfront Park. So is there one thing I think we kind of touched on this last Friday? But if you could do or eat or just do something with the cup? Do you have an idea of what it would be? I think I'd make a nice big hot fudge brownie sundae and just eat it right out of the cup. Like I think that's my favorite dessert of all time. And just to be able to eat that out of the Stanley Cup would be amazing. So what do you think would have? Well, no. Because this this the cup miners, they call them He would be nearby at all times. Because I'm trying to think how I could make a smoking apparatus out of the Oh, What about like a gravity bomb like you fill it up with water. Then you put it upside down. Have two liter bottle do that is that is the perfect idea. You fill that top part with water, and then you know, we got to get through the logistics of it, but I think absolutely. You could use the cup of the Stanley Cup as a gravity bomb. Yep, for sure. Wow. Did you see? Did you see that? You know, Seth Rogan has that, uh, that house plant brand and I saw on Twitter yesterday that he is. He is putting out a new gravity bomb. That is this beautiful piece of art that you can store on your shelf that looks like a beautiful Voss. But it's actually a futuristic gravity bang. He's really something, isn't he? He is man. He's uh He's really touching people out there. For sure. More details are emerging in regards to Richard Sherman and what went on that landed him in jail. He was intoxicated and threatened to kill himself. During a confrontation with family members before his arrest early Wednesday in a Seattle suburb, according to a 911 call who had earned 91 caller who identified herself as the cornerbacks wife Audio of the 911 call believed to be made by Sherman's wife, Ashley Moss. Was obtained by ABC News and ESPN early today. The caller described Sherman as being drunk and belligerent and said he was threatening to kill himself. The caller, who identified herself at one point is actually Sherman also said Sherman was being aggressive, wrestled with her uncle and sent text messages to people saying he was going to hang himself. The collar can be heard attempting to prevent Sherman from leaving the residents saying Richard Please stop. She also told the 911 dispatcher that Sherman drank two bottles of hard alcohol at one point during the call the call or ask the dis factor to tell police Please don't shoot and said Sherman told her he would fight police if they arrived. In a subsequent 911 call. The caller said she thought Sherman was driving to her parents' home. In Redmond, Washington, which is just under 30 Miles. We touched on some of the details yesterday that Sherman is facing several charges after authorities say he crashes SUV in a construction zone. Tried to break into his in law's home and then fought with officers who used a police dog to apprehend him. He was booked early Wednesday morning at the King County Correctional Facility in Seattle Records state. He was denied bail. But a spokesman for Redmond Police Department told ESPN that it is standard procedure for suspects of domestic violence until they appear Before a judge Don't It's very, very early on, But I mean, I don't think you're making the leap of all leaps to say. When you hear of a a NFL player threatening to kill himself. You have to wonder what's going on in his head. And if extended head trauma plays a part and what we are hearing about regarding Richard Sherman? Yeah, man, mental health addiction issues. There's a lot to unpack here and a guy who Up until this point, it appeared to be real together, dude, Very bright Guy had a night of bad decision making, you know? Yeah, it I wonder. Can you chalk it up to just that? I mean, I guess it has that. But can you go from the guy who's never had any problems who is a major part of Vienna of NFL Players Association? Has has really never been in that realm at all. And then here you are in one night, um, you know, threatening to kill himself getting in car accidents trying to get into the house of his in laws fighting with cops. I mean, it's a It's a drastic leap. From what I think a lot of people. Thought and think about Richard Sherman to to that night, so I don't think you go from No suicidal thoughts to telling your friends are gonna hang yourself without something happening, You know? Yeah, I I agree, And it's bad that are that We have to go to that place there that even that thought process. But when you hear other players, you know that video that Ryan Leaf put out really sticks in my head. Of him just sobbing And just saying, you know, my my brothers in the NFL or dying one by one, and then nobody is doing anything. And you just hope that whatever this was that he can get the help he needs. So this isn't another. Tragic story of of an NFL player gone too soon. Right on, man. People are dicks. That's all there really is to it, and sometimes I like to just ignorance can get you pretty far as an excuse, but But in some cases, it's not enough. A group of beachgoers is accused of riding in harassing A sea turtle in South Carolina, according to police. Police were called Monday night at about 10 51 PM to the area of the Garden City pier over a large group of people who were surrounding and writing a sea turtle, according to a call for service from the Horry County Police Department. "Ladder is angling for a lot of free meals when he travels well, he's definitely showcasing a knowledge of juniors and I've been all these places. I know these hockey families. I know Everybody because his name every once in a while, we'll sneak into one report here or there, you know, he goes in on Pittsburgh radio and says Analytics of the reason that the that the Avalanche lost or the reason that the Leafs lost the Oilers lost He definitely wants that job. Yeah. I don't think he's ever going to get one again. And he if I'm guy says he I have not seen his name in connection with the new TV deal, right? Has he been hired by ESPN or Turner? Not that I've seen yet? No. Yeah. So, Yeah, I would. I mean, it sounds like I mean, for years, it seems like he's been trying to get a GM job and maybe even more so now, because who knows what's happening with his broadcasting career? I do like the references to the hometowns and how You know, some guy will score a goal and here's him, McGuire say, Well, they're going to be celebrating at the Knights of Columbus Hall and Moose jaw tonight, you know, so and so just scored a goal. It's but see, That's but that's so Canadian, too. It's not. It's not just a Pierre McGuire the I'm going to guess he's a native Canada. I probably should check this whenever you watch if you ever watch CBC or now SportsNet and watch the Canadian coverage in the playoffs, especially the cup, especially when a team wins the cup and they're all handing it to each other, and they're doing the little skate with the cop around the ice. I feel like Hockey night in Canada is obligated to give the Kaneda hometown of every Canadian player who touches the cup and now it goes to I can't use Zach Bogosian is from New York Anyway. Now it goes to so and so from Ottawa, and here's Hey, what a great moment. Forget No Quebec. Is that it right? Isn't there a Gatineau, Quebec, Britain's nodding said Yes. That's a very Canadian think Pierre is doing what is a very Canadian thing identifying hometowns with players because it's right. It's such a big deal when these guys make it to where Sydney Cross isn't like coal Harbour Crosby McKinnon's also cold hard. Yeah, like they'll always point out called Proud Night for the folks in Coal Harbour tonight. You know the cops coming back home? I mean, that's a big deal for them. And you know, I think That's a natural kind of thing to do when you're watching. If you watch a lot of junior's, you know, when we got fully into the juniors and started going to games, I remember where guys were playing. You know, if your he was with Berry. Oh, that's right. I remember seeing him play at, uh, ST Catharines. That one you would have had a plan gets Niagara, Right? Right, Pierre by though it was born in New Jersey up well, so much for that, but grew up in the Montreal area. That makes Yeah. Well, but he still was named Pierre in New Jersey. So his family is from Canada. Assume originally a French ties, not a lot of guys I think born in New Jersey, are named Pierre traditionally I don't know. I wouldn't think so. "What did we say the other day? Why would their doctors change their minds? If it's a surgery? That they not? They're not comfortable with. Why all of a sudden? Would they have gotten comfortable with it? Just because two or three weeks went by? It's the same surgery, it still hasn't been done on an NHL player. So quite honestly, I can see their point. I don't think they're being unrealistic here. Uh, You know, and and If it were to go wrong. I mean, they they don't know where this could go. The Sabres would be held liable. You know, they're in charge of the medical You know what's going on and any good company. I won't just say his team. We have had a lot of people say, just let Jack do whatever he wants. Well, that's not what a good company does. You know, you have to protect yourself, too. And Um, maybe that's unpopular. Maybe you could lose your best player or but I don't think you just let Jack do whatever he wants. You know, it's it's his body. No, you or I could I mean, that's the point I think people are making is if you went to the doctor and you wanted to get this surgery, you'd be free to do it. W G R can't stop you. Our parent company can't stop you even though you know you have insurance with them. I'm just assuming maybe you don't. But whatever whoever you have insurance with can't stop you from doing it Now. Insurance can say we don't cover this, but you would have known that before things that are covered in and aren't covered. But it's your choice then. But that's not the way the NHL Papa in the NHL has run When you become an NHL player you signed up for the club controls your medical options. Right, because that's to negotiate the negotiation with the with the N H L P a Right and and and and in the middle of all of this, you have a player who, even before this happened, we we were wondering whether he's disenchanted with his experience here and wants to get out of here. Now it feels like a foregone conclusion. So you've got you've got to trade Pending maybe, okay. I mean, I don't want to say it like it's a fact. But it sure seems like the wind is blowing at Hurricane gale force to a trade eventually. And just what that does to either sides. Um, uh, stance here, I think is really interesting. It's it's challenging because we don't know it's largely guesswork. But do the Sabres want to be conservative about the surgery and not approve it? Because their senses that Revolutionary New, unproven, at least on NHL players. Surgery would devalue Jack Eichel enough that they have a tough time maxing out if they want to trade him now before his his his his no trade kicks in Does Jack Eichel know that And does his camp think? Hey, you know what we can we can we can have this surgery. It will be good for health reasons, but It might make them hold on to you for another year and then we can You know, have a little more say in the trade because the no move is there. So there's like all interior motives are possible. That's all. I'm saying. They're possible. I'm not saying I know any of this to be true, but It's certainly the timing of all of it. You know, helps you connect some dots in a way that you know, I think a lot of people are wondering the same thing I just said. Like, what? What is motivating both sides here, the sabers trying to protect their trade asset that they want to move between now and sometime in August or July. Um, is Jack Eichel trying to prolong and hold off the trade until He and his his people can can, you know, navigate that with more control when they have say over approval of a trade? Many people believe complex. Yeah, Many people believe that that he came out and did what he did because his agent has done it before with the Rangers. And, uh, you know that to come out, see what we do and make it almost impossible for the Sabres to trade him this year. So all right, Jack sticks it out for one more year. And then once July, 1st a year from now were to hit. Then he has full no movement. And the Sabres would have to come to him with any trade that they would want to make. So there there are many people who feel that's what that was about that Jackal Jackal do one more year Sam will do. One more year sample signed a qualifying offer do one more year. Then he becomes an unrestricted free agent. And, uh, that's why I don't even think you should get to the point. If you know for sure he will not sign a long term deal. You got to trade him. You've got to trade it before even to qualifying offers come out. Don't even let him sign the qualifying offer. I mean, don't even let it get that far. Let some other team deal with that. I mean, if you know for sure he does not want to be here and is not going and it's not going to even entertain talk of a long term deal. And you have no chance to do it. To me. You've got to get that You've got to get him out of here before you even make a qualifying offer to him to even take the chance that he could get hooked onto that. And then, uh, you'll lose him for nothing. Well, Yeah, um, I I definitely agree with that. I mean, I hate I hate, you know who doesn't You know you hate the circumstances, but you to me. You've got to work the problem and the problem. Um, to solve it most effectively like that's got to be proactive. Um, so I I mean, I agree. I don't know. Do you have any sense at all? If there is a long term contract that Sam Reinhart would sign here? I don't think so. I don't think I don't think he likes anything about what's going on here. I don't even think he likes the area to be quite honest with you. I think he wants out of here in the worst way. I think he wants to play on the West Coast in the worst way. No, He cannot dictate that right now. They can trade him anyway. They want to That's you know what he wants? From? What I from anything. I I just think the losing has just taking him over the edge, and he just wants nothing to do with anything around here. And you know, it would be nice for fans if I'm wrong about that. And yeah, but that's just that's the impression I get. Nobody's told me that. Thats just the impression I get from talking to him and And You know, even when he won the Rick Martin Award, he looked like somebody set his feet on fire when they were, you know, given them the award and taking pictures with them. I mean, he just had this skull. It's like, Let's get this over with and You know, it's just, you know, the way he handles himself, which you know, isn't always professional, but that's his business. It's not mine. You know, as far as he handles himself publicly, and that's the way he Wants to handle himself. That's his business. It's not my business. So you know, he can handle himself anyway. He wants to. So you know, just I don't I just don't get the impression and There's many You know, there was rumblings coming up even before there was a neck injury that after the Sabres were eliminated in less than a month. And they were eliminated. There was no chance they were making the playoffs one month into the season. That's when he made his decision that that's is that I would you know, it's time to go. And then the injury came Now again, we'll never know that nobody's going to tell us that he's not going to tell us that we're not going to know if that's true or not, but it's possible that he had made a decision before the neck injury even happened. You know that that this isn't you know, he watches Zach Bogosian win the Stanley Cup. He watches Ryan O Reilly leaving when the Stanley Cup and he's sitting here. Further away from the playoffs, and anybody in the National Hockey League is so you know, he could. He could have made that too, because he was kind of he never asked to be traded last year, but he was very upset with the losing. Remember saying that he has not asked to be traded. But if he has another bad year, I think all bets are off..

"That's why I'm in on veneers. And that's why I'm really not. I'd be afraid that the sabers would be the team tempted to take Owen power first. Overall, he is the most popular number one prospect, right? Mackenzie's got him first. NHL Central Scouting has got him first. Mike Morial has got him first. A lot of guys have got more than not. It seems now Owen Powers ranked first overall. Defenseman for Michigan and Owen Power might be a really good player. In fact, he's probably going to be a good NHL player is going to be in the NHL at least. But he scares me. Scares me as a prospect. Because I have been a team. That has been watching. I've been a fan that's been watching Rasmus crystalline in play 25 minutes a night for this team. For the last eight years. And In large part he's been doing it because of the way he plays and not of not because of how effective he is. Yeah, He's big and he can skate and he's got a booming shot. But can he pass the puck out of his own end? Can he carry the puck out of his own? And can he carried the puck into the offensive zone? Can he make smart savvy plays? All around the ice, because the answer for Risto line in that question has been no. But why does he still get minutes Because he's big And because he's tough and because he's got a booming shot and because he could move He's AH horse. And that to me is what own power sounds like. There are more players around the league like that. Not just resting First, the wine and Seth Jones has seemingly become this player over his career in Columbus. Same thing big men and eater, But is he actually that good? If you want to go on the extreme end of things and how badly it could go. Zach Bogosian, once upon a time was a third overall pick by the Atlanta Thrashers. And I was not paying much attention to the draft and Zach Bogosian in 2000 and eight But given what he is, is a player in the league, I have to imagine he was drafted because he was 64 and he could skate and he had a booming shot. In that type of player scares me. It's not what I want to see the sabers end up with and that's kind of why I'm afraid of them winning the lottery tonight because I think you'd be tempted. You'd be tempted to take the guy that everyone is saying is the best prospect. It is the best for your organization. I think I'm not a guy that's watching, you know, hours of film on these prospects. I know enough to know what these players are, and Power to me just does not strike me as an appealing idea. And there's also the added Factor. By the way, Quick update. There's they're still doing interviews here. They just interviewed Ron Francis, who's go, the incoming general manager of the Seattle cracking the crack, and, by the way are in this draft lottery. They are the third best odds at 10.3%, the same as the New Jersey Devils. The other point, you could make us why you might not want the sabers to win the lottery tonight. Is who are the heavy favorites to trade for Jack Eichel. It's the Rangers in the King's The two teams there mentioned easily, the most they have the most young assets. The Kings have the eighth facades to get it the first overall pick up 5.8. The Rangers have the best odds at one Earth, the worst odds at 1%. And If you're gonna end up with one with those teams, first round picks. If you're gonna try to go to the Rangers, you're probably gonna end up with their first round pick this year. Wouldn't you rather that be first overall than 16th? The king's same thing. If you're if you're inevitably going to trade Eichel to the Kings And you're probably going to get there first round pick this year, Wouldn't you? Rather that be first than eighth? Again. There is no difference to me, really between 1st and 3rd for the sabers, but there's a big difference. Between 16th and first So just a couple of thoughts for me on the motivation that I am gonna have while watching this lottery, and it appears as though we are just about ready to get going. Bill Daley has got the cards in front of him. Catherine tapping from NBC introducing Bill Daley. A zoo. We now bring you live to the 2021. NHL draft lottery. Thank you, Catherine On behalf the National Hockey League. I want to thank all the general manager's on team executives joining us tonight virtually Which with each of your teams Good luck tonight. We'll get to it now. The 15th overall selection in the 2021 NHL draft.

Ron Francis Mike Morial Zach Bogosian Jack Eichel Bill Daley Owen Power 10.3% Catherine New Jersey Devils Seth Jones Rangers NBC 1% 2000 Atlanta Thrashers Rasmus 15th 64 Mackenzie 3rd

"Back to ottawa's sports talk and whatever on b. as wp so everybody in this part of the world. James and i don't know about edmonton hockey fans but still talking about the demise. Once again of the toronto maple leafs a tradition. unlike any other right today Failed to get past the first ground once again. Haven't done so since two thousand four and got me wondering about the future. What's happening with this team. In the off season they brought in because one of the great complaints. They had a couple of big complaints about the makeup of the team. After last year's demise in one of them was lack of leadership and so they had jason spencer but then they bring in joe thornton they bring in wayne simmons. Zach bogosian n- No i wasn't wanted to call mike so you've got nothing but leadership and yet what happened. I mean it seemed to work out in the regular season. They were so good but come playoff time. That's when leadership is really supposed to kick in and yet a three one series lead. I'm one of the things that keeps you from getting skittish losing all your momentum is a lack of leadership that it's rudderless. This team has lots of guys who should to guide the ship here. And and prevent these cave-ins made no difference whatsoever as montreal came back and won three straight and not only one the three games but they were the team that was ready from the opening. Faceoff in game five montreal comes out and gets a three nothing lead game. Six montreal comes out and gets a to nothing lead in game seven. They come out and get a sizable lead as well. So toronto didn't even show up on time for those last three games. So i don't know maybe leaderships overrated. Maybe that particular group is is overrated. Maybe they don't have the ability to go with the leadership. I don't know but there's gonna be changes in toronto. I hit the post breakdown right. Some some of the stuff that people are saying about it jerry. Di who's who's a big hockey guy you know the comedian jerry. The in the in the show. He didn't all unsure right. Yeah big big sports nut okay big sports nut and he's he's he's generally kind of bang on with this takes you know. And he's a leaf fan. He lives in toronto from from there. Good hockey player too. Yeah right right an excellent golfer by the way anyway. He came on and said as lee fan. Now you know said look a relax. Everyone quit trying to tear this thing. Down ended up with a unbelievable goalie and carry price and shit happens. You know shit happens in in the world of sports i. I don't know enough stevie if you if you look at this and much tearing down are you gonna do just because you..

"Swipe up. I wonder if Zach Bogosian things he got a swipe up. He went from getting weighed by the Buffalo Sabres had his contract terminated Then a couple of days later he signed with the Tampa Bay lightning lightning for one year. One point three million dollar deal obviously going to be prorated goes from Buffalo eight points out of the wildcat to Sunny Florida and Ana Content. That not too shabby on this deal. Make sense right. They they bring in a guy for depth And just for him to have that moment of. It's it's embarrassing right when you when you do get way they didn't want to go to the AHL so everything gets terminated but then when you hear your agent say hey there's some teams interested in Tampa one of them. You just start feeling a lot better about yourself so I don't know how much he'll play. I'm sure he's going to go down. He's going to get the vibe of how that team is. They're going to see how he looks at practice. He'll get a chance. And who knows if he really is a part of this lineup and playing lots of minutes or at all when they end up getting to the playoffs and try to get back what they lost last year and then bashing first round. I don't know of ZAKPA. Gordon will be a big part of that but no matter what he's around a winning culture and he's not playing in the minor so everything's everything's good in his
