"Atmosphere. Coach T lives off of that. You know the business is still the business, but at the same time, it's the first head coach and I've ever worked with And to be honest with. You would love to work with him for the rest of my career. Just because you know it's authentic. He's going to challenge you. He's gonna He's gonna point out your flaws. He's gonna ask you to Attacked those head on. And then once you do don't look back, Keep moving forward. That's just his mindset. We're talking to Zach Banner Exact. There's no way that the course of a conversation like this, we could really do justice to how far you had to come how much you had to work to get his respect to get his attention. You just kept battling and working and grinding and he gave you more and more responsibility and opportunity. Finally, at this point, anything I'm not doing this justice. I'm actually skipping a few of these stages, he says to a one point quote. How do I turn you into a $50 Million tackle? Given you were in a spot where you got cut three times in less than a year, you were wondering with whether or not phone's going to ring. What did it mean to you to hear Mike Tomlin say, How do I turn you into a $50 million tackle? Yeah. You know, in anyone's profession, yours mine anyone They know it's hard when you mix business in with emotions. And it's really hard to find somebody who believes in you. And when you do, and you feel that I think it's most important to live it to the fullest when he said that to me that same conversation I My response. Time was like, I don't know what you tell me. And he told me to, uh, you know, sell my place out in California and move out T Pittsburgh and get a home. That was my first year there. Um, And then all of a sudden, you know, I was doing the jumbo tight end the six man position the next year and I excelled at that. And then is you know all these conversations are in our exit interviews at the end of the year. You know, when you're You don't want to Super Bowl or, you know, you get knocked out the playoffs. You have those exit interviews with your coaches, and he then challenge me to become one of 64 1 of 64. For those who don't understand that there's There two tackles on each team to starting tackles on each team, and there's 32 teams. So how did you become one of 64? He asked me to stay out there again all off season and I did, and I not only became one of 64, but then I was challenged obviously with my knee injury this year. And you know, just to be able to feel his support. Because of what the work that I put in it. I mean, it just makes you want to go to work every day. Does that make sense? It does make sense. Zach Battery. It absolutely makes sense. And I was gonna ask about that injury. So he challenges you to be one of the 64. You're just working your tail off your beating the threes. You're beating the twos. You're dominating and practice. And then you were the starter in week one. And then the injury you mentioned Zach, you suffer an A C l injury 59 plays into the season. I mean, this is part of the business. You understand this, But given everything that you would work for what was it like? What was that moment like when that happened? Was crushing. Obviously, you could see the tape and see my face is I'm getting carted off the field. Um, that next week figuring out you know who's going to do the surgery and where I'm going to do it and then obviously getting it done. September. 15th it Z. After that, you know not, you know, to wake up and see the rest of the starting officer line visiting me in the hospital. Um, then, obviously was Next to me during the injury and walked me off the field and checked in with me later that week, and to feel the support from the coaches and teammates throughout the season through the rehab process. I mean, it was just at first, it's challenging because it's a whole different thing. This is my first injury. Ever. So, with all that being said, it's the support. Like I said, Once again, I want to reiterate the support from my coaches and my teammates that make me want to get up and beat this next year. This upcoming season. Excuse me, Zach Zach Banner joining us. I was gonna jump in and say, I mean, not only was that the first time you ever suffered an injury, Certainly to that extent. But you suffer an injury when you're on a one year deal, man that that's concerning that scary That could be worrisome. But again, it was coached. He was Mike Tomlin, who said Quote You are my answer for 2021. I just need you to focus on your knee. Don't worry about anything else. What was that conversation like? Yeah, because you know, obviously, towards the end of the season, we started having our issues. But that conversation was kind of, you know, a little bit earlier in the season, especially when I'm off the crutches and I'm walking and I'm just gotta brace and things like no I told him, you know, because we had the challenges of covert and everything. So we were kind of doing everything virtual. And I just asked him. How can I help? You know, I just all I was doing was waking up and going toe rehab at the facility every day and Going back home and I sing my me and he just told me that the focus that's what you need to do. That's how you can help your team because you know, even when I was on the active roster my first year here, but I didn't Play at art and suit up at all. You know, I support my guys. I feel like I'm one of the Energizer bunnies in the locker room alongside with a lot of good other characters on D. I feel my team and to hear them say they missed that. I just wanted to get involved. But then again, I had to make a Personal sacrifice, and I had to sacrifice my emotions at the time and put those aside and just do. It was best for the team, and it's really just focus on myself. This whole rehab process. We're talking Zach Banner. So Zach is some people know you're a member of Z B T. It's a historically Jewish fraternity. Last summer you spoke out against anti Semitism in a very heartfelt way. The response to your words I thought was remarkable. Why did you feel it was important for you to speak out in that way? And then what did you make of that response? This is the kind of guy I am. Um you know, I have obviously brothers and friends who are not only Jewish but have dealt with anti Semitism their whole life. And when I you know, when I heard.

"To leadership in his ability to motivate Yeah, Coach T is, you know, just like the mother coach is not only a pass player in the league but has been in the league for very long time. And, as you know, was given a great opportunity to coach the Steelers at a young age as you guys know, you know, the Steelers don't swap coaches out too often, and they like toe, keep it within the family and build that type of family atmosphere. Coach T lives off of that. You know the business is still the business, but at the same time, it's the first head coaches I've ever worked with. And to be honest with. "Welcome to the jungle. What's going on? Nice to have you here. Great to be with you. I am live. I'm in Southern California. I mean the rocket mortgage studios. When you need certainly the home buying process with alone that fits your life Rocket can all right starting off our number three man come strong. Let's finish this thing the right way. 1 806 368686. That number's told free It's good. The U. S is good in candidates. Good wherever you are. Take advantage of the opportunity. Those phone calls are coming up, but we start our number three by talking to an offensive tackle with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He joined that team 2018. He signed a two year contract with the Steelers last week. He was a first team all Pac 12 player at U. S. C. He was a two time all American in high school. He was the 137 pick overall in 2017. He is Zach Banner, Zack. It's great to have you on the show. How are you, Zach? Jim. Thanks for having me, man. Been a big fan of yours since Rome is burning back in the day when I was a kid, man, man. I appreciate you saying that, Jack, Thanks so much good to have you on the show, too. So I want to get into your journey and some of the work you've done off the field. But before we do that I mentioned off the top. You got yourself a two year deal with the Steelers. What is the contract representing you? And how does it feel to know that you'll be in Pittsburgh A while longer? Feels amazing, because, you know, I've called Pittsburgh my home these last couple years and solidify it as my home for the next couple of years is feels amazing. And to be honest with you, man. Big relief because I didn't obviously want to move and I love the black and gold and Um, this is the opportunity. The contract itself is an opportunity where I can solidify myself. Not only in Pittsburgh, not only the NFL, but also just amazing opportunity to work with the guys in the locker room that I built with these last couple of years, so Like I said, I love the black and gold. Zach Banner joining us. You know, I've heard that before from people who wrapped the black and gold. You know, since you mentioned the teammates, I was asking about that, Zach. It's one thing like when you put in the time that you've put in and you've taken the journey you've taken obviously, those very close to your family, close friends. They're gonna get a lot out of that is gonna be a lot to them. But the guys around the team was really interesting to see their reaction to your sign that contract. They were happy for you. But it went beyond that, like there was an outpouring of joy from people around the team. What That means. What was that, like? Just feels good man. It's authentic. You know what I mean? It's relationships. It's, uh, it's hanging out on, you know, off the field, and it's working hard in the locker room and working hard in the weight room and things like that, and it's just you know, we have AH, For those who don't know we have a quote or motto in Pittsburgh, and it's the standard is the standard. And when there's men like myself and the men that we have in the you know the locker room and stuff like that we we like to keep it that way and keep the standard the standard. So it's all out of Your effort and hard work and sweat, but it's also authentic relationships. We're talking Zach Banner. So when we talk about it, being authentic and hard work and sweat and grit and grind me lay this out for the listeners who may or may not know you weren't all conference player at USC, and then you were fourth round draft pick, But things did not go. Zach is planned and there was a stretch when you got cut three times in just nine months. How trying was that experience? And what was that time like? Yeah. You know the reflection of my NFL my earlier NFL careers. Just how it happened was the reflection off of, you know my battle my weight and stuff earlier in my career and throughout college. Obviously I fell in the draft and I wasn't doing the right things. Um, off the field with my body and stuff in my first year and that off season, you know, I kind of spent, you know, a month and a half turn free agency. Um, you know, just waiting for the phone to ring and just working and working on my body working on my mind set. It's all about building great habits. And when Coach T and the Steelers called No. They asked me what I've been doing to change those, and I made a promise to them that not only do I have together, but, you know, I'm I'm going to keep working. And once they signed me, um and I got here to the 41, too. I just No, I mean I kept my head down and just worked, and it's everything I've earned. I feel great for I feel great about but at the same time, you know, it's not. I don't I don't want this. This contractor. What I'm doing now to be the end of the road talking to Zach Banner. Exactly. About mindset to me. Mindset is everything it starts. Everything starts with mindset. How did you go about creating an improved mindset? How did you improve your mind? So what kind of work did you do? Person had identified. You know what the issue was. And, um, you know, to be able to admit that I you know, was a binge eater and, you know, you know a lot of people when good things happen. Bad things happen. You know, there's some guys and some people who put Their their emotions into alcohol. Put their emotions into drugs. Mind was, you know, food and to be able to conquer that and understand that professional athletes you to take care of their body and put the correct fuel in And I just didn't want to mess up the opportunity. I didn't want to be one of those guys that ate themselves out the league. There's so many of those in the past history. Um, I learned from their mistakes. I learned from my own personal mistakes, and I just made those changes and it feels good to conquer that. I respect that response so much, Zach Zach Banner joining us. I really respect that. You mentioned Coach Team Mike Tomlin. So you get an opportunity, the phone rings and they say to you Listen, how have you changed? How have you improved? Talk to me for a minute about Mike Tomlin. How would you describe his approach to leadership in his ability to motivate Yeah, Coach T is, you know, just like the mother coach is not only a pass player in the league, but I've been in the league for a very long time. "This morning. A complete waste of time. Absolute waste of time. Waste of time. That's what Jeff said. I could play the rest of the sound bite. But it all basically comes back to that. I said Jeff, what the hell was that? He said. Absolute waste of time. It's exactly right. They just run jail in her that there wasn't a change of pace that wasn't Taysom Hill. Wasn't back in the old days. What Cordell Stewart used to be or what? What? Who is the kid from Chicago. They had their in Pittsburgh for a while, who threw the touchdown at the Super Bowl. His name will come back to me. He played college basketball to not make any, you know, I'm talking about you Put these kids on the field and they wind up changing up the dynamic A quarterback who can run you do something different than what you normally have. They just ran someone else out there to do what Carson Wentz does and then ran right back to the sideline is not better fitting anyone is that making the team any better is not making the quarterback any better is not making the back up any better. So the whole situation with Jalen hurts was last night, bordering on ridiculous and the best emission of it again, Jeff Saturday absolute waste of time. Thank you. It's a simple is that it was an absolute waste of time. So the Eagles from top to bottom are a disaster. And I will say this There are still four teams in the NFC East. Any of the might win the division. I put them last. I put them worst. I would put them as having the least chance and the biggest disappointment of them all. And so is your favorite Dr Pepper loving college football town fans ville head to a store near you to treat your inter college football fan to a nice cold 20 ounce Dr Pepper today, Okay, thrilled that you're with me here today. I'm gonna bring in a Graziano now, in a moment because he needs to address you need someone to address The lack of understanding that some football players seem to have for what exactly is going on around them. Zach Banner of the Steelers was on here on ESPN Radio last night on Freddy and Fitz Simmons. And he's wondering why this game with the Ravens keeps getting pushed back keeps getting pushed back. Why can't we play it? And then he goes there, he says. Well, Denver just played some point There has to be a decision made that we're going to play this game. I just don't see how Honestly, and this is our kind of most of us here. We don't understand how the whole Denver thing like I understand, like, you know, there's been people getting tested every single day that that probably is the only rational Reason. You know the national. There's even more contagious people over there. But I mean Denver's just played without any quarterback in other managers about the guy up on the peace quiet, so I thought we have extended rosters for a reason, but that's just me. Uh, well, yes act. It is just you or at least it is all the people who just don't understand exactly what's going on here. Dan Graziano, my NFL insider extraordinaire on the shell Pennzoil Performance Line explained to Zach Banner and anyone else who doesn't understand what the enormous differences between the Ravens and the Broncos. First I want to say thank you for thinking of Antoine Randel Whale. Yes, that's one Randall. Thank you through this great, correct Super Bowl touchdown pass anyway. Yeah. Look, I think that banners premise that he's working off of which is incorrect. Is that the league somehow? Punished to the Broncos by forcing them to play with no quarterbacks, but is doing the Ravens of favor by pushing back their game, even though they're short handed right that that's what he's getting at, and it's not what's going on. Reason the Ravens game is pushed back. It's not because they're short on players. It's because they had basically a whole week where people kept testing positive every day, and there's an outbreak in the facility. And they couldn't get to a point until now, where they felt like it was safe to put the Ravens on the field will put them on an airplane, you know, put them in a locker room together. So there at that point now where they feel like assuming no board rashes, positive tests Come back today. They can do that. And they are gonna be short handed. Fact of the matter is that I can have Lamar Jackson. I could have a lot of people that are important to them and must win game their biggest game of the year. The Broncos didn't have an outbreak. They had a quarterback test positive. When they did the contact Tracy. They found that three of his close contacts were around him without masks on for extended periods of time, and they were therefore classified as high risk. Close contact with these, They have to sit out five days. Can't practice can't be around the team for five days. Unfortunately for them Sunday, Game Day fell within that five days own, then we're going to push the game back five days and again. They're not pushing games back just because the team is short handed, even if it's entirely at one position, even if that position His quarterback. Ravens game is postponed because they're having an outbreak. The Broncos game was not postponed because they are not Dan Graziano with me greedy presented by Progressive Insurance, Dan The game is being played tomorrow afternoon in the middle of the afternoon, which never happens and the reason for it is remarkable. Philadelphia does have the ball back facing a 2nd 3rd down to two at their own 30 with less than 10 minutes to play in the first ever keeping. I'm that game into his conclusion, right here on Freddy and Fitzsimmons. The Pittsburgh Steelers, the organization they have waited since Thursday night. This was the play then against Baltimore. Zach, You can't really leave anything to chance in covert 1920 20. Not all men and For me to have a successful off season that I did this harsh season with everything going on. "Veteran group I. Think Golden Get the less more as you don't need that adding on your body. So the Boswell Russ. Offense and defense wise we have beefed up to and. I'm actually a excited excited about that. Padded practices are going to be limited the summer with the Castro. Still looking forward to seeing the battle for the right tackle spot play out between Chuck McCoy for and Zach Banner Matt. Fodder. Last year right tackle is moving to left guard and decastro maintains filers transition will take care of itself. I count this. For both of US guys really hungry. You'll be tough battle for that. That right Davos Baden's for MAC macro that. See matters pretty better now than it easy tips, he's up he's played all around the bounce around on a moment of but rights outlet at a really good sound play with last year but on. Best for the the group room left guard and. It choice I think it'll be pretty solid is just tremendous player bill. Sprayed great shaped. By Guardiola's even stockier more anchorage than than before. So he's ready to go. Yeah now, for sure, you know you zach muscle bulk up a little bit Do you want some some bigger guys? Not Maybe not necessarily as athletic quick but was based on freedom in the middle. So you got, you got to be more anchors to take on the big strong freaks in the middle and Matt Fowler nicknamed Misty Anchor He looks more accurate. So that's good stuff from Dave decastro pirates are getting applause. Thanks to the cardinals problems with covid nineteen. They had a series in Saint Louis postponed. So some unscheduled days off in the midst of three and thirteen stark Germany Japan Sherrington spoke over the weekend about how the pirates are still in the evaluation process even though they started playing games count. There's so much about this season. It's different. You know the length of it that will be prepared for it You know even aside from just where we are as a team and so I guess I would say. Two things one is that At. Seven o'clock or four o'clock today or one thirty tomorrow or whenever. The. Game. Starts. Our full expectation and focuses on being prepared to win that game and I believe. That's why our players mindset is I. Know That's why staffs mindset is. So we go. We're going to go into every day preparing to win that game believing we we're going to win that game And then we're GONNA learn a lot from the the Games and the outcomes and and we need we need to take that learning and and make improvements on it. So I don't believe those two things are mutually exclusive. I think we need to do both be prepared and expect to win every day and also keep learning and some of that learning about players. But some of that learning how just how to give better internally to and keep making baked make any adjustments we need to make to keep getting better. Bench parents are the pirates you know prior to this getting started he was pretty consistent in his Maintaining that while the pirates wanted to win, they had to figure out a lot about a lot of their players and a lot of this was going to be guys getting at bats against big. League pitchers getting to throw two big league hitters and basically finding out if guys can do that at this level and. You know it's one of the reasons why they're three and thirteen. They're.

"You look at guys like Stefan was newsy could possibly be called to be left guard, but if Matt Feiler has. Played with Ben, Rothlisberger before he has seasons with Ben Rothlisberger that's important. But then you look at even someone like. jukes core for is not new. He's going into his third year. Zach banner has been in the system now for a long time. This. Offensive Line is going to be so important for the steelers. So important for the offense in. So important for Ben, Rothlisberger that this is the one area, the day should excel. If every other position group that I've mentioned receivers, tight ends, running backs have question marks pertains to the fact that they don't have a ton of experience with number seven. You should always go back to the offensive line and say when BEN IS THERE The offensive line typically is elite. Why the above the neck game folks, I talked about it on my Monday show if you haven't listened, check it out. The above the net game for Ben Rothlisberger, his smart, he was not always known as as really smart intelligent quarterback. I don't think you say that now he's definitely changed. He's altered his game I've talked to a lot of people that actually have interviewed Ben that have spoken with Ben. My time away from behind the steel curtain was spent with individuals that knew him closely covered him his entire career and they say he is a completely different quarterback. Now than his first years in the League is first years in the league. He was one of those wild gunslingers that would go out there and just fly by the seat of his pants. If you asked him what a game breakdown was filmed break down he. He wouldn't be at a tell you. He's a where's the film room I. He might not know that might be a little exaggeration. But I think what you. What you're seeing though is ben is now becoming more cerebral player as his physical attributes. Wayne, his intelligence is getting greater. Okay that's important. That's really important. You look at someone like, Tom. Brady I hate to even bring him up but Tom Brady has seen his physical capabilities start to diminish that happens he's over forty years old. But it's his intelligence and his ability to read the defense at his made him successful. Well, into his forties I don't think there's any one in their right mind that doesn't think that Tom. Brady. If he's healthy, doesn't go down to Tampa. Bay. With those receivers and put up some numbers. That's all I'm saying, I think he's going to be just fine down there in the NFC south. Right, now, little shoutout up to nine upstairs. Thank you that he's no longer than they have see I. Think I speak for all of our nation when I say that, but Ross Burgers had to change his game to. He's had to adjust. He's had to say, okay. What am I trying to do because I can't run like I used to my escape ability? Isn't what it used to. So I need to be Oughta try and get things moving before I get in trouble. He needs to see what's coming in I. Think this started in my opinion Todd Haley. Everyone hates Todd Haley everyone hated daily with a passion, but I think Todd Haley taught rothlisberger. How he can save himself a lot of harm if he really starts to study more in reading what the defense is doing. Randy. Feed ner whatever it, it's Randy Feeder I? Caught them randy land on all our podcast before. But Brian Anthony. Davis. Says it all the time and I agree with him, the offense coordinator is Ben. Rothlisberger so if Ben Rothlisberger can kind of you know get his act together. He is healthy. I think the steelers offense is on the right track, but let's not think that it just going to be a rothlisberger returns in all as well with the world, it's going to take work. It's GonNa take work for all those players that mentioned they have little to no experience with, Rothlisberger. Let's bring this all the way back to start. Let's bring a full circle. Then throws now what? Well. Now we get to what will eventually going to see is what does his arm actually look like? Is. He making all the throws? Is He actually showing that his arm could be stronger than ever or are we seeing a band that is not back to what he was? Will he ever be or is it just going to be? This is the new Ben, so to speak. And how will this offense adapt in? How will it change and how will it move? What would look like? We'll Matt Canada have an impact with jet sweeps and motions. These are all things they'll bend throws. Now, what now is when we can actually start and I say we as in the fan base, we can start to look ahead and say, what is this going to look like? Could be really exciting. Could be really exciting. But a lot of those questions are asked in the first segment need to be answered. So. Thank you for listening. This is the second episode of Let's Ride I'll be back with you tomorrow on Wednesday topic to be determined. We'll see what happens. I think Ben's going to be speaking soon, this week, I might have something on his comments that'll be interesting. Make sure the check out all of our podcasts in..

Elizabeth Rug Liani and she was from Venezuela, she said. Everything that's going on and that went on in Venezuela to make it. Unfortunately what? What it is now is happening in the United States and people need to wake up and see that Very interesting perspective from somebody who's Come from a communist country. Yeah. You know, it's funny, because usually when we have Gloria Allred on the show, she steals the show, but not the way it turned out last week, although Gloria was fantastic, as usual. Thank you. My favorite. Thank you Can I know it is I know Thank you, Genevieve for filling, And we have a great show this week as well. And next week, By the way, I'm looking forward to next week. We have dove. Charney on. Dove has been on the show a couple of times before. And he's usually talked about some of the sexual harassment suits that have been filed against him for when he was with American apparel. He was the founder started up American apparel. Then he Left American apparel kind of forced out but left it and open up Los Angeles apparel. And he is in the news that I think was a front story in the L A times about 375 people, approximately that many who tested positive at his company, Los Angeles apparel. And Dove will be with us next week to talk about the 300 more than 300 positive tests and why he believes that it's not significant that it's just the average of 15% of the population in L. A who have tested positive, But that will be interesting. So don't miss that. Carrie. I want to turn to this week's show now. Gloria Allred was your favorite guest. You told us that last week. This may be my new favorite guest. I've had so many favorite Gratz over the last seven years. But I'm excited to have Zach Banner on the show because he is really ah, hero to so many people. Zach Banner plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers Number 72 right tackle. He has played for us. He had a great career understates Archies, Ian and Clay Helton at USC on DH, then ended up playing for the Steelers, and he's playing this year. Interesting, interesting story Great football player really focused guy. But he became an Internet sensation when he spoke out one of the few players in the NFL who spoke out against the Sean Jackson's very strange anti Semitic comments, where he used Hitler code at least a quote that was attributed to Hitler. Not really. Speaking about Jews and It's just amazing. Zach Banner the next day had a heartfelt Ah, just he let everyone know why That wasn't right. Why did Sean Jackson's comments weren't right Being an African American Zach Banner talked about black lives matter, and he was very involved in black lives matter. But at the same time he felt that People should speak out against anti sometimes very few NFL players. Mitchell Schwartz, who was on the show, Carrie Remember when we had the Schwartz brothers, they wrote a book called Growing Up. Schwartz, Jeff and Mitchell Schwartz was on the show a couple years ago, and Mitchell Schwartz talkto I said, we can on Ly have changed if we denounce racism and in all bias in all of its forms. And that was Mitchell Schwartz. And then Ah, ah Andelman. Julian Edelman, of course for the New England Patriots spoke out Ah Jewish NFL player very few of them, but he spoke out as well. Zach spoke women. Do we have Zac's comets? Can we get a few seconds? And so people get the flavour if they didn't hear it. Beautiful morning this morning,.

"Zach Banner will join us, the Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman and then at 8 p.m. Eastern five, Pacific current nb, a analyst and former N ba G. M West. Wilcox will stop by the show as well Hold out to do on a Monday. We'll do a little news brief will do an onsides offsides and finished the show in style with the closing bell. Hope everyone had another great week and I had a fun weekend. Actually, an extended weekend. I was off on Friday. It absolutely poured on Friday, so I didn't get to do much, but a little rest and relax. Station never does hurt anyone. Saturday. I had some golf balls Saturday night had a few friends over and then it started to rain also went and saw some family members to during the day as well. And then yesterday pretty much I was lazy sitting by a pool, doing a little swimming maybe a few laps in there, but for the most part, I was sitting pretty still in the pool, maybe play some pool basketball, too. Is what I did yesterday and then got all set for the show today on a Monday another four day work week for May I'm here Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and then all Friday and then I'm here for a while before I take my next vacation, got to get those summer days in and that's what management is telling us. Try to take his many days that you can your contract over the summer. So I'm just following to the bosses and the people that do pay my paycheck and what they say is what I will listen to, and we will move forward so well, let me first start off today with the little N ba bubble life as we've seen. The majority of MBA pliers that are playing in the N B, a restart migrate down to Orlando, Florida. They had to sit in their hotel room for two days. Some players, they did break quarantine. Now they have to have additional quarantining time. You also have some players that haven't reported yet. One for example, being Russell Westbrook and we did find out today that he tested positive for the Corona virus, and we have other players. Who showed up who sat in the hotel for two days. Sure, they may have complained about some of the conditions which I don't think you're all that bad. And now we're starting to see certain things from these players, which are fun. I saw J. J Reddick shotgunning a beer. I did see Penn Simmons fishing and Ben Simmons obviously gets chastised a lot for not being able to have a jump shot. And some may say that he could not hit water if he fell out of a boat. Well, Ben Simmons caught a little fish and he went to go throw the fish back in the water. And when he did that, I guess the voter or whatever he was on, but wherever he was fishing, he hit the floor of the boat, and it went then into the water. So pencil mons To get some fun poked at him there, But now we're adjusting and we're adapting to what sports are going to be, and we're waiting and waiting and waiting for the sports to come back and for baseball that's going to be July 23rd. For basketball. It's going to be July 30th for hockey. It's going to be August 1st. And then yes, we are not that far away from when players are expected to report for NFL training camps, which are July 28th and I'm not all that optimistic. That's gonna happen on time. But who knows? Obviously the big dates for the NFL don't come around until the fall, but it's one of the dominoes. That you do need to knock down in order to get to the fall. But let's go with what is current, and that is basketball. And I saw this tweet about an hour before we dig it on the air from shamans, and it's a statement from the N B A. And the NBA, which did announce Cove in 19 results as of late and the statement that say, of the 32 of the 322 players tested for covert 19 since arriving on the N B, a campus in Orlando on July 7th 2 Have returned confirmed positive tests while in quarantine and those players never cleared quarantine, and I've since left the campus, the isolated at home or in isolation, housing the other piece of information. That the MBA give and this release was since July 1st during in market testing, 19 MBA players newly tested positive These players were staying in their home markets and recovering until they're cleared under CDC guidelines and MBA rules for leaving home isolation and joining the campus when you have this bubble in the unprecedented times that were in Nothing is going to be perfect. And there's some things that are out of your control. But what you can control you need to control. So when you see that Rashaan homes broke quarantine to go pick up on uber eats aura, Grubhub. Whatever delivery service he was using order and no, it was not for Mikey B. Doing the delivery. I was able to confirm that Through my sources. I did text Mikey B and asked him if he was the one that was delivering the food to rush on homes and Mike said Juan still in New Jersey, So that wasn't the case. There's going to be some things that players don't understand. I don't think The lack of understanding, though, is an excuse, because if players air listening if players are paying attention, I would have to imagine that the guidelines and what they are allowed to do, and what they aren't allowed to do has been really drilled into their skulls. By now, you would think if a player wants to break quarantine and at the snitch hotline gets used, or if someone Seize it. Or if the video surveillance catches it. Whatever it may be, in the way that they get exposed in breaking the rules, then there's going to be consequences to pay and those consequences which the trivial part of the consequences are that you're gonna have to saying in quarantine longer, but what could be significantly damaging to this idea? And what can really hurt the N B. A as they try to not only restart their season but finished their season is if when a player like Sean Holmes does this, even though he may be thinking, I'm only breaking quarantine. I'm going past a certain line that I'm not allowed to go for five seconds, 10 seconds to pick up Ah steak order or to pick up a burger or whatever he was ordering. In that one instance of contact who knows what he could then bring into the bubble, and that's why we need cooperation from MBA players. Now it's also important to say when one player doesn't so I've read of two players that have had to, additionally, quarantine themselves. It doesn't mean that we should generalize and say All N ba players are blowing this. All MBA players aren't being intelligent here. The majority of the players are going to be smart, but it's the ones that break the rules or the ones that tests the limits that could put the rest of the bubble at risk, And there's other ways that they could be put at risk as well. It's not a true bubble. There are some people that are allowed in and out of the bubble, and that could cause some harm. I don't know what the logistics are. In the planning of it and how they came to the decision of who is allowed in and who was allowed out of the bubble when it does come TTO workers, But you could be doing everything right. You could be a plier that is going from their hotel having minimal contact going to practice playing games coming back doing what the MBA provides to you and not even think of breaking quarantine to go get food or to go to A gentleman's club or whatever Orlando may have to offer, and you may be doing everything right. And then one of your teammates does something wrong. And that could put the entire N BA plan at risk with how quickly this could spread. So when I read this today, That two players have tested positive since going into the bubble. That doesn't surprise me. We know when everyone got back together, reconvened and elected to go to Orlando. There were going to be some people. That Unknowingly I would imagine Had the Corona virus went into the bubble. They were in quarantine and they weren't able to pass the test. Those players have now cleared quarantine and have since left campus which I don't have a problem. If this happens during the postseason, though, And you have a player test positive for Corona virus. And let's say his team does continue to advance without him. I would imagine that player isn't going to return home. When they have the Corona virus. Maybe they will. Who knows what their medical conditions are, but if they could stay in their hotel And not leave that hotel And who knows that that's arrest the MBA is going to want to run that I would imagine they're going to do that. Instead of leave the hotel room. When you come back, you'd have to have additional quarantine because, remember Once you do the certain amount of test that it has negative And it's out of your system. Then I would imagine you go back to playing, but then yet again. With maybe weight loss through this or some of the other circumstances. Who knows how quickly you're going to be able to get back on the court? So when I found out today that two players that didn't break quarantine got the Corona virus? I'm not surprised..

"Well, I've been missing sports a ton. Due to this pandemic lockdown, incredibly excited for baseball and basketball to hopefully start up again soon. One thing I haven't missed. Though is professional athletes, saying or doing incredibly stupid things on Monday. Eh, Naomi mentioned to Sean Jackson. The aging wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles posted a fake quote on his instagram story, saying that though Jews want to quote extort. Their plan for world domination won't work if the Negroes know about it and quote. This fabricated quote was attributed on the post two it off Hitler. Jackson also shared to posts about how much he loves Louis Farakhan the Anti Semitic leader of the nation of Islam now the eagles responded swiftly, and while they're statements weren't perfect. For example, they didn't mention Jews or antisemitism anywhere in the text they got their point across and Jackson issued not one but two apologies. He's also apparently going to be meeting with the rabbi to learn about Judaism. So that's that right well. No, of course, not first NFL Hall of Famer and ESPN host Shannon. Sharpe weighed in on his program to stick up for the Anti Semitic. Minister Farrakhan even as co-hosts skip. Bayless read out horrifying quotes from Farrakhan. Next up was former. NBA Player Steven. Jackson, no relation to shine. Who defended him? Even after Deshaun had already apologized saying that he was speaking the truth and bringing up the Rothschild conspiracy to prove Jews have too much money and saying. Jewish people never stick up for black people. This was all the more difficult to watch. Because Stephen Jackson was actually close friends with George Floyd and has been crusading figure against police brutality in recent weeks. But here is where this mass starts to turn into a good story, because even as important black figures in sports like longtime ESPN commentator, Stephen, a Smith and Mike Wilbon were castigating Stephen Jackson for his hateful words, and chiding him for distracting from his important message of racial justice. A third athlete was weighing. Zach banner another Black Football Player posted a heartfelt beautiful video on his twitter account sitting on the balcony of his Pittsburgh apartment banner, said the following quote when we talk about black lives, matter and elevating ourselves. We can't do that while stepping on the back of other people to elevate ourselves, and that's very very important to me, and it should be to everyone change your heart. Put your arm around people, and let's all of each other and quote visibly holding back tears, banner invoked the experience of what it felt like to be on the steelers when the shooting the tree of life synagogue took place two years ago. Shortly after posting the video, he changed his profile picture on twitter to the modified steelers logo that includes a star of David that the team embraced after the shooting called on the NFL to pay more attention to antisemitism and signed that tweet Zach mench banner. Mench indeed this morning he woke up puzzled as to why so many eighteen dollar donations were coming into his foundation until someone emailed him to explain the significance of that number by to Jews, and that's what I'd personally like to focus on all the Jewish kids in Pittsburgh who just found themselves a new favorite football player, so to all of our listeners, and to Zach the mench banner Chabad shallow ship. "I said they're gonna keep dangerfield and david quick. I agree with everything everything. You're saying. I'm just saying i think they're going to do <hes> what i would do. I'm i'm keeping allen but what they're going to do is dangerous. I just know this his team in what they do with incumbents and you're right on the gobert thing to do but i just have the feeling what they're gonna do <hes> uh-huh yeah i can see. I can see them keeping allen. I don't know why they kept down last year at all because he barely played in the preseason but they kept him and they kept him on the roster. The entire year in didn't play until week sixteen or so week seventeen against the bengals like the first game action he saw. I don't know why but they kept him. I think they keep him again. He actually showed a little bit in week three all right so let's go to the offense side of the football and this is going to be interesting wresting. We'll go we'll start with the offensive. Line gerald hawkins name. A lot of people are talking about brian. He's gotta go. He's shown no nothing dave yeah. There's just not room for them. Okay tackle all right yeah exactly i mean. I don't don't think he has the versatility to be play guard to be honest with you. He's not like filer. He actually might be better guard the tackle that they need him at that right tackle spot what about johnson fred johnson is fred or is it frank. It's probably co your kids is frank frank tank. Okay go ahead frank johnson. What are your thoughts shots from florida mattis now. There's a lot of upside and he's he's shown some things so i think they actually keep him. The whole thing is are they going to keep a. They're going to keep nine. If the only keep eight fred's probably gone but fred is going to get the call over hawkins. I know he's a guard in hawkins is a tackle but the guard depth after the starters you basically have b._j. Finney nobody else so if you're going to have that fourth guard in there it's it should should be fred. Johnson dave brian. You said that perfectly the only thing would be as if they try to get by with one last guy because of the versatility utility of filer that if they lose a guard that he would slide to guard because they like because because they they like their options with filer guard and one of the other tackles better then another guard but to me if they keep nine johnson the only thing is they've kept nine. I think for the last five years if i'm right there's one year and they were. They only did eight if they do eight then he's looking to be on the practice squad. He's the last guy my opinion and jeff come on. You're an animated movie. The fan frank that should be all about the the big combine from cars allied with my kids aren't really into cars and i think frank i think of this azeem from billy madison where he goes down to dinner and his look at your shirt is this is my shirt. This is franks and he goes up shirt franklin it anyways. Here's a question though you brought up the filer moving to guard which they could do. They could cut johnson if they were to do that. Let's say someone brune foster gets hurt and they don't wanna move finney. They're sitting you take filon even regard who is the tackle because they've been really impressed impressed with brian's boy zach banner so far in summer saying he's outplayed chew chor for attacks guys. I think they both make it right but who would be that had swing tackle that primary backup brian serve with you. I'd like to say it's going to be zach banner. Okay let that's your boy. I expect you to say that that's dave you disagree. No i don't disagree. I'm just gonna explain it a little bit more. I think zach banner manner for from a starting situation but i wouldn't be surprised if banner does not get a helmet on game day still because i think they're going to give the helmet the szucs because because he's going.

"What about you, Brian? What you think. I think Gerald Hawkins is a is one guy that depends how he does here. This is make or break year. He's been. If he gets out of that might be for gray and gray would probably end up on the. On the practice squad. But this guy this guy is a very good blocker, especially a big run blocker he was the line had four different one hundred yard rushers. They even had four hundred forty four yards in one game against bowling green, this seventeenth best rushing tech in the country. So he's, he's a grinder. He's a he's a paver. He could pro- if he has a good camp. They're gonna they're gonna seriously. Consider keeping this guy. It's gonna be a test. Yeah, it's gonna be interesting to see how this pans out in training camp. Because for me, I look at this and say, if they have all this potential tackle the tackle play in the National Football League is not tremendous and Zach banner has great preseason. But they like what they have in during gray or Chook, Sikora, four and even Gerald Hawkins. Maybe they could trade one of these guys in and get a get a pick or get another player back. It just it all comes down to how they perform obviously. But ultimately, I think that it's is situation right now. They're loaded in depth at the tackle position, which is kind of laughable, considering those other positions where their cupboard is super super bear. But nonetheless is a position that they cut it. They take care of that position. And so we'll see if German going makes team now real quick. Rapid fire Dave gut instinct, or when gray makes the team. Yes or no? That's so hard because we haven't really seen anything from him because not as you don't hear anything much about lineman. You don't hear much about defensive line because they're basically playing seven seven so we haven't seen anything and he's a seventh round pick. I think there's a. I I'm gonna say no. Just because I haven't seen him. But honestly, I think he's got a really good chance. He's just gotta prove it. All right. Brian would make the team yesterday. Oh, yes, he's making this team's f Dave. I would agree with Brian here. I think he does make the team if he doesn't I think they're going to try their best to get him on the practice squad. He's player that would be great in that capacity, if you give another like a redshirt year type thing but I think they want him on the actual team. So all right. This is the time of the show, where if you're in the live, chat right now we're gonna take a few questions the gambling segment when a little bit long on days. That's my fault..

"These days I thought it'd be nice I attend something together it was a wonderful wonderful time altogether. Yeah I'm just wondering, how do, we not have Zach banner and Reggie McKenzie's kid I mean it's like come on. Man what happened to. Nepotism, we need a little bit You know what I think would really. Change that is free agency for example because now, it's it's difficult to time up you know like when it comes to Reggie McKenzie it's. Difficult to time up that you need that type of player at that. Time when they're available you know what I mean until you know the fact he's played for. The chiefs is har- hard. But when when it. Came to Zack you know they did. Not, need a tackle, of his caliber alignment of his caliber when he came out? A couple, of years ago they thought. They had that that? That that that problem solved You know maybe maybe it'll, be at the end of the screw like it wasn't me The second time around you know what I mean I know what you mean talk to me a little bit about the offense under Greg Olsen because I would think that this offense is, going to move up and down the field all season, long Gruden is calling. The place so he's not gonna get you far away from nineties definitely calling pass. Game, I think he has somewhat to do this summer around more with the. Running game now when I played with them Bill Callahan was. His run specialist coach everywhere and. I know Tom cable has a great deal of involvement underrun gamble Gertie calls the place I see Greg Olsen as. At buffer to really be able to relate more with their car if that makes sense because Greg did have Derek. When, he first came in to league and then Jon Gruden out. Of Karak gruden's camp now no give it a second car and. Gruden having wonderful relationship but you and.
