"Ensuring the Bronco bike game. The other thing is, special teams, once you get beyond Ben powers, Mike mcglincy, Zach Allen in free agency. Everyone else the Broncos brought in has some special teams role in place. And even in this draft, Marvin mims first player that they take could project as your punt and perhaps kick-off returner right away. So special teams between the players they brought in and bringing in vintage and Mike westhoff on the staff as well. That's something that I think is going to get fixed. It's an area that has certainly played a role in the Broncos losing some close games over the years. It's an area where Sean Payton's mentor Bill Parcells feels he could have an immediate impact on a team when you come in as a new coach, new regime if you can upgrade that area and it can make a difference right away and because of that, I think even if Russell Wilson's season looks like it did last year if he struggles, I think you're talking about this team winning at least two or three more games. I think the four for this team, the absolute floor. If you have injuries of everything goes wrong, the absolute floor is 6 to 7 wins and I think right now right now I have them winning 8 or 9 games as I project the season. And part of that is because even if you can't get real Wilson right, I think they're doing so much else to upgrade other areas of the team that they're not going to lose games in the same way they didn't in recent years. "Comparison's sake, last year he stole 32 bases and was worth 4.3 base running runs below average. None of that because of stealing. He's successful on the base path. He was worth a run above average ceiling. He'd make a lot of bad decisions. On the basis, he really, really pushes the envelope. So I think that he goes a lot. He likes stealing and he gets on base a lot. So I think that he will steal 40 bases. And I think that he'll also do his best impression of room room guy and try to score from second on infield singles and stuff. And often enough to end up with negative face running runs. Okay. Good deal. I guess now if you're a bad base runner, I guess the downside is deeper just because the baseline will be higher. I mean, hopefully you would be better too, but just because the break-even point is going to be different. I mean, the league success rate is going to be different. I think the success rate is 80% or something in spring trading, and that's with a much higher attempt rate. So both of those things have gone up. So if you can not maintain a good success rate now, you're really going to hurt yourself. Yeah. Yeah, but the fact that it's an 80% success rate. I mean, it reminds me of, I think this was a Sam Miller take. I remember, I remember it's stressing me out a lot, whether it was him or not, but the idea if you've never missed a flight in your life, you've been leaving for the airport too early. I think it had every time I see what the league wide stolen base rate is. Like these people are absolute cowards. Do you think about it every time you go to the airport? I have lots of time to think about it at the airport. You can always get there two hours early. That's right. Right. Well, it all depends on your mental state, I think. There's certainly a way. Right, so if you know that about yourself and you know you can't change that about yourself that it may still be the optimal decision to show up early because at least you won't be worried about it and maybe that trumps whatever time you're wasting because what would you be doing anyway? Yeah. All right. My turn again? Yeah. Okay. All right, I guess I'll go with this one because I was worried that other Ben was going to take it because it started out the same way. I'm going to take no team wins more than 97 games. Which would be a first since 2013, I believe. So we've been in this super team era and we've had a lot of terrible teams still have some terrible teams, but we've also had some great teams every year and I don't know that we have any great team style. I mean, it's obviously possible that no one has to get all that lucky to win more than 97 games if you're true talent is 93 or 94 or something. It's likely that someone will do that, which is why this is at least a semi bold prediction. Hopefully. But this does seem like the likeliest year for this to happen or not happened in some time. And I think the top end of the projections is lower than it's been in some time. I mean, not just the Dodgers being lower than they've been, but if whatever Atlanta is on top with 93 or 94 wins, I mean, it's probably been a while since the top projected wind total team was that low. I think this is the single projection that will lose the person who made it the most points. Because you think it's too obvious? No, I think it's not going to happen. But a lot of people are going to say that I think it's going to happen. Well, don't do that, people listen to listen to Michael. It's not likely. I'm really risking it here. I guess I should go. Do I want to do these in order? Do I want to spice it up? Okay, I'm going to, I'm going to spice it up. This isn't very spicy, but I'm going out of order, which is sort of spicy. I think that the NL Cy Young race will come down to Zach gallon and Logan Webb. As the top two finishers in some order, I guess is the way that we assess whether I was right? I was going to ask you to come down to. Which one, two, two? Yeah. Do I have more to say about that? Other than they're both really good pitchers, Zach Allen took a step forward, looks like a legitimate ace. Logan Webb was not quite as good last year as he has been, but I think is still spread relative and will get better because he's really good and the Giants are good at making people good. And it would be fun. It would be fun to have a new guys up there doing well. It's good to have award race variation. I think year to year, otherwise it gets kind of boring. So I think that in a stacked NL west, those two guys will be a cut above. That'll be what the race comes down to. One, two, or two, one. It's a mortar. Mike, I legitimately had Logan web win Cy Young as one of mine. Did you really? Are you here to that one now? Yeah, one, you saying that. Diminishes the value of this one. I thought it was a long shot. I thought it was a long shot. I consider both of those guys for my NL Cy Young pick. But too many of too many of our colleagues picked it. I know, it's a weird, I still haven't done my staff predictions. Hang on. We've said those were two new yesterday. I did say that. And 47 special editor privileges when you're the one who puts them together. Yeah, this is me asserting editor privilege. What kind of leadership is this? Tired leadership bauman is tired leadership. It's one functional brain cell leadership, but I should say, I will forget what of these I did during this podcast. So someone is going to look at my actual predictions and I'm sure notice that these are not in line with them. And I apologize in advance. So I got for you, you know? Sorry. Sorry. Do you appreciate your confidence in a south Jersey legend? Zach gal. He's so talented. He's just so talented. And now Zach Allen, who played for the Arizona Cardinals, is somewhere else in the NFL, so I will no longer be confused to local sports radio talking about. So that's exciting. Bauman, you're up again. Okay, more pictures will appear for the Pittsburgh pirates this year, then we'll qualify for the ERA title. Oh. Wow. Last season, the pirates were not the team that used the most pictures. That was the Chicago Cubs used 43 somehow. Wow. It wasn't that long ago. It was like in the 90s where teams were getting by using like 1215 pitchers in the entire season. But anyway, the pirates were 6th they had 36 pitchers. Last year, 45 pitchers qualified for the Cy Young or for the ERA title the year before that, it was 39. That number has been going through the floor over the past 15, 20 years. And I think it will continue. It makes sense to me. Yeah. Kind of kind of chalky. That's the one that I think is most likely to come true. Okay. All right. Okay. I guess I'm up next. Gunnar Henderson. Corbin Carroll. Jordan walker. Anthony volpe. All four of them will fail to win rookie of the year. Shocking. I think that's pretty unlikely. Yeah,

"The abs are going to cruise through the Western Conference part of the playoffs. No, don't say that. They're promotional. Blaming losses because they became popular. That's a weak take Mark. Oh, I'm blaming, yeah, no, that's not a weak take at all. All right, why don't you explain why it's not we take? That's ridiculous. You'll do that coming up next. Plus, the return of teller straighter Tuesday on a Thursday. We've had a lot of people asking Mark, what do you see in these two linemen that the Bronco sign? So you did the film work on the clinician. We'll get a little bonus, tell the Tuesday with Mark coming up next. And they did that posted behind you. Steve teachs you into the classroom using the exclusive game film only the Broncos coaches have access to. If you look at this play, what we're trying to get is a seal here and a seal here and try to run this plate in the alley. Here, slower than Evans would tell us greater Tuesday. Now this is one of the popular features that we developed over the year, telestrator Tuesday, but pulling out here on a Thursday because we've had a lot of requests from fans wanting to get your inside breakdown of the two linemen that they sign the other day and Mike mcglinchey to play right tackle and Ben powers to play left guard. And as a bonus, Zach Allen, who they brought in to replace draymond Jones. So who do you want to start with? Let's just, let's just go in the order they were taken. It was empowers than mcglinchy and then Alan, right? Powers, I think one, first and foremost, at the point of attack. Good run blocker, efficient getting to the second level. Think he takes good angles, good steps. And in past protection, he does a good job of taking the fight to the line of scrimmage, which I think is really important, especially if your quarterback's 5 ten. You can't get into the black of your quarterback. So you've got to be really good short set football team. Really good at attacking the line of scrimmage. What I like to say when I talk to players or I talk to different teams, taking the passive out of pass protection. Got to be able to do that in three steppers and 5 steppers. So I think he does all those things well. One of the things that going back on film and you can see this, Mike, when you watch a guy take sets and take angles, he understands he understands the concept of football. Like, you watch him hang tight on a slide to make sure he gives the center the proper amount of leverage he needs, the proper amount of body presence before he takes off to go help the tackle. Like a lot of guys who just fly out of there and then they leave, if you fly out of there so you have a guy over your guard and you have a guy over you, right? And you slide out really fast. Well, it already edges the center, meaning the center who's coming over to block that guy is already at a disadvantage because you've left too fast. So you see the little things when you're watching film like a guy how good he is with angles and funnel and players and understanding when I need to leave, how I need to stay, what like he's done a really good job with that stuff. So he's a smart player. He's a good player and he's a physical player. So on a scale of one to ten, if Dalton reisner was a, blank, then Ben powers is a what? If Dalton reisner was a 5, then Ben powers is a 7. Okay. Upgrade, not huge. But an upgrade. Yeah, fairly large upgrade from a physicality standpoint. But yeah, he's not he's not one of the top guards in football. Now he's not Landon Dickerson Dickerson from the Philadelphia Eagles. He's not, but he's a really good player. All right, mcglinchy. Same type of thing. She really good aggressive on the run game. Playing across the ball from one of the best that's ever played in Trent Williams, you see how his aggressiveness, he's more aggressive than he used to be, meaning if he messes if he misses a blocker. He's going to miss it going a hundred miles an hour and I can live with that. Really good same thing sets angles. You understand he understands the game. He knows getting to the second level, even as big as he is at 6 foot 8, getting the second level man. He moves well, he does that well. The one weakness from a glenshee is mcglinchy gets a little like we used to call it getting high in your hips, getting a little tall, and then when you get a little tall, basically, he is so big and so tall that he loses a little body strength. And so he can get overwhelmed in those. And then when ends up happening, when it really goes to crap on you, you get a little tall, so then you start hunkering down to try to take away the bulrush, and then a guy beats you on speed. So he has a propensity to get a little tall in pass pro and get shoved in the back feel a little bit every now and again. But again, compared to the garbage that we've had at right tackle. If we've been a one over there, we just moved up to a 7. Okay, well, that's a significant upgrade. Yeah, okay, good. All right, so far so good. Zach Allen. I would say that Zach Allen effort huge effort, playing next to JJ watt for the last couple of years has really helped develop his game. His stance looks identical. A lot of his moves. He's a movement pinch like movement guy, advanced Joseph uses him to move, to slant, to pinch would call pirate stunt. Really good at bam hitting that hole, bam, working back upfield, getting into the backfield, tackles for losses. Versatility, I think, is the biggest thing. You watch them when they're in a nickel or four down front when they're playing a team that's throwing the ball. He's over each guard. He'll be over each guard in base. I've seen him over the right tackle. I've seen him over the left tackle. I've seen him on the nose in base. So he's the guy that gives you a ton of versatility and he's a guy that you feel really comfortable moving around and basically finding the weak link. So if you've got a guy who's really struggling with guys that are good pinchers, good movement guys, man, you line them up over there and you take advantage of that stuff. Great effort guy makes a lot of plays, like I said, he is a poor man's JJ watt. He's experienced JJ watt. He's watched him. He's mimicked him. The stances look, if I put the two of them on and covered up the numbers, and I go, okay, who's JJ and who's you would say, I don't know. They look identical. Really? In their stance. So he's really, he's really taken a lot of JJ watts game and implemented that. And he's gotten stronger and bigger over the last couple of years. But he's good. He's a good effort player. So who will end up being of those three that you just studied? Who will end up being and rank them? One through three. Who will end up being the best value signings? Or the best value signings? Oh, I

"Team when you sign javon Harvey. I love what Denver's done. And Ben powers, we're talking about an offensive line that wasn't good last year. Both of them are top ten and run blacking, run blocking statistics. So an offensive line that is now going to be capable and committed to running the football that's going to help Russell Wilson. Also, your guy Zach Allen is added to Randy Gregory and baron browning as pass rushers. I love that they're protecting Russell. All right, a big day tomorrow as the newly gear begins deals can be finalized and that's when all eyes are on Lamar Jackson. Which teams will have him on speed dial tomorrow. Our guys have a few teams desperate for a quarterback in mind. Here who they think Lamar could go to next if he leaves the ravens. NFL live is presented by toro. Count on it. I built an empire. If the money start back in zero, that ain't gonna happen. Ethics is snowfall, returns for the final season. Make peace with your family. John singleton's visionary series comes to an epic conclusion. What the heck is against the wall? A man with a dream with plans to make three. Big let us go into a war. This is about survival. FX's snowball, the final season, all new Wednesdays, on FX, stream on Hulu. We're back on NFL live in a reminder of what it would cost another team to get Lamar Jackson with him on the non exclusive tag, a team would have to be able to come to terms on a new contract and be willing to sacrifice two first round picks after that. They also have to hope the ravens won't match the offer as they would retain his rights if they did. That's important the ravens do have the chance to match the offer. So this is all happening really soon, okay? We're less than 24 hours Adam from teams being able to call Lamar and talk. Where do we stand as it comes to his situation? Well, he's not allowed to talk to these teams. Now, there may be some back channel conversations. Who knows? We don't exactly know, but what we have seen is this also. At the start of free agency, Carolina needed a quarterback, and it traded up the number one. Right. The readers needed a quarterback Garoppolo. They're going to send Jimmy Garoppolo. The jets need a quarterback, and they are clearly zeroing in on Aaron Rodgers. So now you take three teams out of the mix. Now how many other teams are there? And there have been a number of teams that said that they wouldn't do it. Now we don't know whether they're being honest, but people, whether they're hiding something, but we're waiting to see exactly how it plays out. I just think that the market is not as robust as you would think it would be for a quarterback as great as Lamar Jackson. Marcus, what should teams be on the line at four O one, by the way, that's a deadline. We come on the air at 4 p.m., which team should be on the line at four. Washington commanders. Based on how this thing is playing out with Aaron Rodgers, the jets. And then San Francisco. I think San Francisco and that match with Lamar Jackson would be undefendable. I really believe it would. If they were able to get him now, look, I'm not, I'm not basing this on the premise of how this would happen and what years draft picks. I'm just talking about teams where Lamar Jackson could go in right now and be a lot of who he is already, right? With the ability to kind of create that run get San Francisco to me. Dude, I would be pissed off for the defensive coordinators in the NFL if he ended up in Shanahan's system with the way that they call offense. But here's the thing for me too. And then I got to pass the team. It's been a lot of terms thrown around about this Lamar Jackson situation. Y'all, this business. This is business. Now, whether you whether the owners have gotten on the phone and say, they've always fought against guaranteed contracts. They've always said that since I was in the league, they said, can't get to that point. Now, we're going to fight for it as players. And Lamar needs to be applauded for trying to get a fully guaranteed contract. But ultimately, I think Lamar, whenever this process starts happening fast, just advice from me. Try not to make it personal, understand that you fight in the Apple cart and figure out how to get as much money as you can, guarantee, man. I would say Indianapolis right now. You know, I like San Francisco, Washington, because he keeps him in the AFC. I think also, I would hope that Baltimore would match any authority by someone else. And this isn't my idea. I saw actually Daniel Jeremiah say this. Because if you're Indianapolis, you sit at four right now, Carolina, one, take a quarterback Houston at two, taking a quarterback. I still think there's teams that are going to go and try to get up to three with Arizona Cardinals. That could potentially take a quarterback. Seattle, Tennessee, maybe Detroit. Maybe the jets if they don't get Rogers. So if you're into you're sitting there going, do we want the fourth quarterback in this draft class? And they need a quarterback. Or do we want to take two first round picks in the money and say, we're going to take Lamar Jackson. And we're going to go on the very best run with stain steichen. There are new head coaches that we can. It sounds like something I say would be for. At some point, Lamar the fourth best quarterback in this draft class. Yeah. So really quickly, Adam, and this may be an unfair question, but when you think about the timeline, so this can all happen tomorrow beginning at four O 1 p.m. Eastern Time, okay? Would we assume at that point that Aaron Rodgers potentially to the jets would be done or are the jets still going to be in limbo as far as? Look, to me, the Rogers thing is a process that they're going through. I had one person say to me, it doesn't mean it's right that it could take a little while for these two teams to work at a trade, potentially could last at the end of the week. You don't know, right? So it's a process, but starting tomorrow, Lamar can visit other teams, talk to other teams. She's allowed to do all that. All I have to do that 4 o'clock eastern tomorrow. So I just think that timeline is going to be fascinating to watch because the jets could be very much in the mix if they don't get here in Rogers, but they may not know until I think it's going to be another team. If this happened. Yeah. All right, we'll see you tomorrow on NFL live in our free agency special as well. Yes. How would you love a chance to save some money on car insurance? Geico can help. "Because it's going to be a mega deal. That's not why. That's not why. Essentially, it was a case where I think that Orlando Brown was talking to the chiefs the deal didn't get done. The chiefs moved on with juwan Taylor, and now Orlando Brown is looking to find a new home. The bears were in on Mike mcglinchy, didn't get him. He went to Denver, Chicago would seem to make a lot of sense, but he wants a lot of money and some teams were thinking in other areas. I don't know if they realized it. And I don't know. No, the league views him as a right tackle. He wants to be paid as a left tackle. And so I think that also enters into it. There's a whole host of factors here. They're playing in. And I'll say this also. If you're a free agent, yeah. A top free agent, your deal needs to be agreed to almost always on the first day of free agency. If it's not agreed to on the first day from there, the prices usually get disliked. Oh, boy. I did not think they looked at him. Let me throw this in here, guys. As of right now, Orlando Brown is supposed to join us live on the show tomorrow. Right. In person. So we will be able to ask him about all of this and we'll see what he's willing to share. We can't wait. We're going to ask him, do you think your left tackle or right tackle? Okay, coming up. Pick it up a ton of quarterbacks and a top quarterback in the draft is crucial for the Panthers, right? They traded up to do that, but here why Dan believes Carolina has set up their future. It does not look like that right now. You're watching NFL live, presented by toro. Yeah, it's real snowy here. I love this for Zach Allen. Usually the money. This is one of those situations where you get paid and then you become a household name. Yeah? Because people would be paying attention to them now. I think he's a phenomenal player, a great interior Russia super athletic. Everybody will know Zach Allen based on this move and now he got some money in his pocket because of his production in Arizona. Hey, by the way, prayers up for us trying to get through the rest of this block. No, y'all know me. Stay tuned. Get interesting, okay? The Carolina Panthers have been quite busy the last few days on Friday. They traded up for the number one pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, sending multiple picks and wide receiver DJ Morton Chicago, then yesterday they bolstered their defensive free agency, agreeing to deals with safety Bond bell and defensive lineman shy tuttle. If you didn't see that, it's pig, okay? They also short up their offensive line yesterday, re signing center Bradley Boseman to a three year deal. Carolina is now locked up all their starters along the line there for a while so they look good with Boseman's new deal. And last season, the unit ranked top 15 in both pass block win rate and run block one rate, but Dan, how important is this offensive line to whomever the Panthers bring in a quarterback, knowing it's going to be a rookie with that number one overall. It's as equally important as the coaching staff that we've all raved about. That's why it's Carolina still, even though they traded away DJ Moore is the best place for a rookie quarterback to go to. Everyone talks about when you have a rookie quarterback or a young guy. How do you help them play better and initially go get them a receiver? No, it's protect them. Keep them clean. If you have a good coaching staff and you have a good offensive line, you can help guys get open with the way you call your plays and or scheme your past concepts. This is still the best place for rookie quarterback. Now what quarterback kind of like fits that perfectly? CJ Stroud. I'll say it. If you keep them clean, he throws it the best in this draft. So there are dots connected there, but I still think this is a great place for any rookie quarterback, but specifically CJ 'cause of the protection. You know, Frank Reich obviously was in quarterback purgatory. This offensive line in Indianapolis started to kind of dismount or they didn't play to the level they wanted to. And then you think about temper bringing him in and understanding what it was going to actually take. Not only an offensive minded coach do stately is the running back coach there. I like forum and a lot of running back he was playing really, really well towards the end of the season. There's a lot to build around in Carolina. And it's a perimeter. They need to remember to help. But if they hit a home run on this quarterback, you got them on a rookie deal. Frank Wright has his time, you feel comfortable with Frank Wright tutoring your young quarterback. And now you start to add those perimeter pieces where we've seen guys give production that you don't give a $100 million to it. You do it backwards. We give the perimeter help and avoid the offense. They're doing it the right way. Solidify the unit and then bring the help. You said CJ strode based on the protection, you still think Bryce young? Yeah, I think people overthink it. For two years, I watched Bryce young. He was the best quarterback out of all these guys that's in this draft. All right, let's get to a couple of quick reads, guys here. Marcus, give me a team who's absolutely crushed the first two days of free agency. Go ahead. San Francisco, man. Like this javon hargrave move, I don't think people are realizing what this actually does for this football team based on how they play defense already. And let's not forget that this is a team now where you think about Kyle Shanahan been so close at trying to win championships been so close at getting there. They're trying to figure out this quarterback position, but when you add a piece like this on the interior of Bosa, if it creates space for him, it frees up somebody's going to terrorize games. Whether that's hard grave Armstead or Nick Bosa. I think you change the complexion of your

I think that also like baseball is less susceptible to tanking, at least the type that should be a is susceptible to for a few reasons like when it's just not as advantageous to get a high draft pick and MLB as it is in other leagues. But also, I think it's like harder to lose. It's purpose. Yeah. Once you've assembled your team, you can assemble a non competitive team, but it's harder to say, okay, given the players we have on hand, we're going to reduce our odds of winning today because you have a bigger team in their more players and what are you going to do like your entire lineup? NBA, you can sit like one star and significantly impair your odds, but in baseball, as we know, like having one or two superstars doesn't make you a great team and being down to start two doesn't make you a terrible team, so there's only so much you can do realistically without making it incredibly glaring that you're doing this. So between that and the fact that there's probably not going to be so huge a difference in the standings between the teams that are in the wild card position and the teams that are just out of it, maybe there's not that huge, maybe it's like more of a, this doesn't look good because it's not great to have a team that is not as good, be rewarded for not being as good, so that's not good. Just from a optics perspective. But maybe it's not as dangerous from a competitive integrity standpoint. No, you still shouldn't do it. It's just bad. It's just so bad thing to mess with it and just do your job. Work your head down. Go in some baseball games, play in October, and let me have a happy family text threat. That's all. I want. Yeah. And also, just wanted to briefly salute what Zach gallen is doing for the Diamondbacks. I almost caught myself when we were talking about Keiko and saying that he had played for a couple of bad teams well, arguably he's only played for one. Diamondbacks, not so bad. Now, in fact, they're half a game behind the Giants in the west. How about that? How about that? I guess says as much about the Giants as it does about the Diamondbacks. But they're only three games under 500 or four games at this point and a lot of that is because Zach Allen has a 41 and a third inning scoreless streak going. Spectacular. Yeah, so he's close to entering the top ten score of a streetwise and he has already tied the record for most scoreless starts in a row, so he has tied Don Drysdale in 68 oral hershiser 88 Zac cranky 2015 with 6 scoreless starts. Of course, he has pitched fewer innings than all of those guys over those starts and significantly fewer than Hershey's or drysdale, her shows are streak of course is the record of 59, and this will be fun to watch gallon chase this dense and borsky gives him about a 2% chance, according to his new fan grafts post on the subject, but everyone's talking about gallon, there's a fan grass post about gallon in a baseball perspective post about gallon and people have been expecting big things out of gown for a while, like he was good and then he got hurt. He had a stress fracture in his arm, right? And so he was not so effective last year, but now he's healthy. He is making some changes. He's maybe throwing some higher fastballs and working more secondary stuff in basically like every other picture, I guess, but he's been better and he's been just really great lately and has propelled the Diamondbacks to respectability, so Craig Calcutta raised a question in his newsletter. He said, if gallon does keep going and challenges her scoreless innings record, there's an argument to be made that it's more impressive for it being over more starts. I mean, the more starts you make, the greater the odds you show up one day and simply don't have it or that you'll face a team with their hitting shoes on, right? I guess I understand that perspective. I still think that probably going deeper into games is harder just because it requires greater durability. It requires you to face the same hitters, multiple times in the same game. So yeah, like you're rolling the dice, I guess a little bit that you won't have it one day, maybe, but also you're having an easier assignment in each given outing. So I think if anything I would go with gallons being a tad easier, but it's an impressive accomplishment, nonetheless. And yeah, it's happening when offense is down a little bit, but so did it when drysdale did this or when her scissor did this, like, as we talked about recently, often record or near record setting performances require the conditions to be right for that, which is what makes judge and what he's doing so impressive because the conditions aren't really ripe for it. But good job Zack gallon in the Diamondbacks have been a lot more watchable lately in part because of him. Yeah, I mean, I have been to, so I was present for his start against nola when the Phillies came through, and then I was just at the ballpark to watch burns versus Bumgarner, which went the brewer's way, does not involve Zach Allen, importantly, but not because bunga earner was particularly bad, which is its own interesting, but a business. But there's just like, there are a lot of people at D back games, and they are excited about the D backs. And it's pretty cool. You know? Like, there have been stretches where that is not true. I remember, I remember in early 2021, I went to a Diamondbacks game and I think I had had, I think I had had one of my vaccine shots, but not both. And so I won, and I was like, oh, is this a bad idea? And then I was like, oh no, I'm very socially distanced. This is in fact fine, 'cause you know, it was a warm enough day that they had the roof closed because they wanted the air on. And I was like, it's still a big space, but I don't know. Is this the right thing? And then as I know it's, it's fine. And that hasn't been the experience lately. People are there and they're excited and, you know, you got gallon doing what he's doing and you have some of the young guys coming up and it's cool. It's nice to be there and see the corner start to see them starting to turn the corner, you know? It's the difference between groaning and respectable baseball. That's pretty fun. Yeah. The Diamondbacks headlines are looking up lately and last thing is that Joe Maddon former angels manager was on Jason stark's podcast starkville with Doug glanville and he had some things to say about analytics and managers, perhaps not surprising things he is maybe said some somewhat similar things since his dismissal from the angels, but he is really harping on this. He basically thinks that analytics have been taken too far and teams implementation of them have gone too far. And it's somewhat notable, I think, when he says it just because he was such a standard bearer for more progressive managers who were incorporating front office input when he was with the rays or even earlier in his time with the cubs and things have changed and he has not changed along with them and he thinks that they've changed for the worst and maybe he makes some valid points here.

"Are a perfect person to evaluate the question on based on instant replay, whether or not Harry Styles spit on Chris Pine. Was it on purpose? Why would Harry Styles do that? What do you make of Chris Pine's reaction to that? It is the moment that everybody in the world is talking about today. So based on the video, it does seem like he did the way he looks down, Chris Pine looks down. I have no idea why he would do that. If he hadn't just been on sneeze on something like that, I have no idea the backs were. I do know who both of them are. I'm proud of myself for that. And I'm just gonna own up to it and say that I had to watch the video right before we recorded because while everyone on Twitter was talking about this last night, I was watching Dodgers giants, angels, tigers, Carlos ultra, and Marin Cilic and a 5 cent mask that I'm around two 30 in the morning. So I saw the tweets going through the timeline. I was like, I'll figure it out another point. But having watched the video, you know, reminds me of when guys either pretend to get hit by a pitch or they actually do. And I mean, I don't know enough about these two guys to think that Chris Pine would be pretending. Yeah. As you say, it's something that everybody's talking about in social media. I rendered my strong opinion before I'm sure we'll get resolution when Sarah Abbott the biggest Harry Styles fan in the world rejoins the podcast on Wednesday. All right, let's play the numbers game. Number three. Number three is three. So in this second game of the double hever in Baltimore yesterday, Bill pochette hit three home runs and he's been on fire in the month of September. He has about 14 RBI in that span. He's been really, really good. But the really fun part here is that Vlad junior had a three Homer game back in April at Yankee Stadium. So they're just the fourth pair of teammates each under the age of 25 to have a three Homer game in the same season. The others were Larry Parrish and Gary Carter for the 1977 expos. Tommy Brown and Duke Snider for the 1950 Dodgers and Lou Gehrig and Tony lizer for the 1927 Yankees. And there you go on that list. I love it. Number two number two is 54, so we have to talk about Aaron judge as long as he gives sending home runs. We will absolutely still be talking about him. So he hit number 54 on Monday. That is time for the third most home runs by any player through his seams first a 135 games. Barry Bonds had 57 in 2001, Sam was so sad also had 57 99 and then Maguire 54 and 98 MB Bruce 54 and 1921. Right now, judge is on pace for 65 home runs. Jeez. Number one. Number one is 41 and a third. So that is that gown scoreless rate going on right now. And I mean, I love the Diamondbacks right now. They've been so much fun to watch with Corbin Carol gallon pitching really well done Virgil playing great defense. They have a lot going on. But let's talk about gallon. So that is the 8th longest single season squirrel is an industry in the live ball era, which goes back to 1920. Of course, prior to that there was a lot less scoring to a little bit easier to compile a street, but the overall record blind bolt were prior is that 59 inning streak by oral hershiser in 1988. So we'll see if Zach Allen man just to threaten that. So, Sarah, I got two follow-ups for you first. We talked to Tim kirchen about this. Shohei Ohtani seems to be making this really difficult for MVP voters with how he's going crazy down the stretch here. Yes, in meaningless games, what's your view at the moment of the judge ohtani MVP conversation? I still think that it will end up judge. And I saw things I'm really glad. I don't have to make an actual decision this year because Shohei Ohtani, we should never get tired of. There should never be a year where he's doing this where it isn't a difficult discussion in my mind because this is incredible and just because he did a last year doesn't make this here any less impressive. He's a better pitcher this year, which is really something that we have to credit him for. I still think Aaron judge sets and Merc record hit 65 home runs. The phone we look back at it in history in ten years and he didn't win MVP that that might stand out as sort of an oddity, but I mean, it is a difficult difficult decision. I do not know how you choose, but it's amazing because for a while I think judge kind of had it locked up and then now tani has been playing out of his mind lately as a mind. Yeah, he's going absolutely crazy on both sides of the ball like I'm with you. Thank goodness I don't have a vote and try to square that with the way the voting went down last year when everybody was like, oh, oh tiny, even though he played on a team that was out of it, he puts up so much value that, yeah, he's the guy and this year he continues to just seemingly get better and better. And last one for you, as you know, New York talk radio has

"I've never been invited back, but it was a fun thing to do and it was really. And it turned out they routed playing at night. And it was a very nice social occasion. Yeah, well, the memories by from you and from Bill are outstanding and I encourage people to go and grab your book. I appreciate it, bob. Oh, thank you so much, buster, anytime. Jessica Mendoza is an analyst for ESPN, Jess how you doing today? Doing great. Prepping for a softball regionals that kick off today. Nice. Tell us about that. Yeah, we got 64 teams. So similar to the men's and women's basketball bracket, you get your brackets out, start filling them out and your mind's blown by all the different teams and smaller schools and we're doing studio shows here at ESPN actually with the 16 sites. So it is crazy buster, so we're about 13 hours of coverage. From studios, you're bouncing around a 16 different sites in, you know, you've got teams from all over the country, some that you know, some that you're still haven't seen, play all year because they're smaller schools. And they start to emerge, right? These stories start to come out and they start winning games and upsets and it's one of the best weekends because we start with 64. We end up with 16 by Sunday Night and then we head out to super regionals and the women's college World Series. Who did you pick to win the whole thing? Well, Oklahoma is definitely the beyond at the very front of the pack. We probably never seen a dominant thing like you con women's basketball of the past, right? Like this team is just, they've only had two losses all year. And they are beyond dominant in every single category. Now their ace pitcher Jordy ball has been injured. She's a freshman at a Nebraska and she has a forearm injury and might not be able to pitch. So far. And so I think I'm not worried about her so much regionals, but as we get to super regionals, I think that could be the one thing she's just, I mean, with the swing and miss. I mean, this team puts up more home runs and offense than anybody. But as far as the flip side, they have a freshman and you should see her. She's so Max Scherzer. I mean, literally just stomping around the mound yelling out and like, I mean, almost like a little crazy. If you're in the batter's box, you're like, do I even want to face this girl right now? Reminds me so much of max and then just goes right after you. I mean, up and in, ain't afraid to crowd you freshman, right? Small town, Nebraska girl. Here she's come in. She's a more picture in the country, but she's hurt right now. So I feel like that's the one weakness with Oklahoma, but we could see a team like Arizona state, Arkansas, who just won the SEC. I would say Vanderbilt buster. That's your Alma mater, but as we both know they don't have a softball team, which is really disappointing. I got to say your prediction is wrong because obviously an SE team, SEC team will win the championship. Let's talk about the White Sox were on Sunday Night baseball. They had some offensive emergence in the last couple of days, Anderson, you know, one of my favorite players to watch. He's hitting well. Luis Robert, having a nice day. Yeah, you know what I love too is this is a team when you look, I think sometimes you're forgetting about we forget about the essential because they've been so quiet, have not had a team of emergency expect of the White Sox to be. I mean, there are World Series contender to kind of just really take that division and walk away with it. They're in second place behind. I think they're like three and a half games behind Minnesota right now. But I was watching them last night and you're right to me Anderson. First of all, anyone who was watching, he steals second base and within a pitch he steals third, he had a few hits RBIs. I mean, he was all over the field and they were behind against the royals. And he literally single handedly ignited their comeback. I mean, you could just feel like him stealing second, then when he stole third, I mean, the dugout was just like, oh, like, let's go. And then Luis Robert ended up having a two run home run multi hit game. RBIs. And this is what you expect more from the White Sox and they've just really had this tumultuous beginning of the season. But then you watch a game like that and it's like, you know that they're not going to be sitting at 500 come in a couple months. This is a team that has not hit their stride yet. Tony La Russa, the helm even last night said and all the championships that he's been a part of, they all had these seasons that were up and down and they struggled or bad start. So this is kind of something that he's used to and able to manage through and not panic with the team that's this talented. Yeah, a couple of guys in the middle of their lineup Jose Abreu, yasmani grandal up to slow starts. Some of the numbers suggest and bray, who's struggling against high velocity fastballs. I'm really interested to see how the Yankees pitched to him over the weekend. Well, I think one of the more surprising teams, even though I don't think anybody thinks they're going to make the playoffs, but they've been surprising so far the Diamondbacks, the fact that they are not buried at the bottom of the standings already, tells you there's some progress there in part because of Zach Allen. Yeah, watching him throw last night and I got to see him live when I was with the Dodgers last month. And a picture that, you know, his stuff isn't necessarily going to wow you like as far as he's not hitting 9900. He's going to be around mid 90s, but he's got this cut fastball and he's really worked to kind of utilize it on all parts of the zone. And last night I was watching him throw both sides of the plate, which is such a tough pitch 'cause you always think a cut fastball to righties is being like middle away that's like your classic placement for that pitch. And he was coming inside with that pitch. It gives it that kind of front door, gets hitters to jump just enough, and then it cuts back over the plate. Again, not like a ton, but enough to just make hitters pause, like there's no way this is a strike, and then it hits that and it's such a tough pitch right on right to throw consistently. He was also throwing even up in the zone to get it to cut back over. So to kind of watch him last night and he's got an ERA right now, buster coming into last night's game of 1.05. I get it. It's early. We'll see these numbers be more realistic, but as we know, the reason the Diamondbacks have had the good start that they've had is because Ben because of their starting pitching. And that's, I mean, I feel like I've been a huge part. We both know Brent strom, who came over from the Astros, what he's done with this rotation. They got beat up the last few days from the Dodgers, which is going to happen that ERA definitely got to a more realistic place. After losing four games to the Dodgers this week. But definitely they're starting pitching is their highlight with Zach gallon the very top. So another guy on that staff is Madison Bumgarner and yesterday Max Scherzer went down with an injury. We still don't know when an AF Jacob de Grom is going to come back this year. People are wondering about how will the mets react? And I've been thinking about Madison Bumgarner because I ain't the Diamondbacks probably would like to get out from underneath his contract. He's got two years left..

"LA, the three and a half point favorites and we're so glad that you're with us here as Matthew Stafford and Kyler Murray in winter go home situations will tell you what to watch for with live reports from SoFi on the way. And yeah, we got a big date today. We've got to pack house. Marcus spears mean a kind, stand or luck, you can get Ryan Clark on a Monday and it's on stage. Also swagger's thoughts coming later on the stunning cowboys left. I won't turn you seriously. Because there's a lot to talk about. But first guys, the divisional schedule is set on Saturday. We'll see the number one seeds for the first time. The Cincinnati Bengals will travel to Tennessee while the forty-niners head north to take on the packers then on Sunday. The winner of tonight's game will head to Tampa to take on the bucks, and that's followed by a rematch between the bills and chiefs. Let's get into nice game with something to watch for, though, Mina, you first. All right, we know Matthew Stafford is going to see Cooper Cup. What I want to see is he also going to feed Odell Beckham junior. It worked the last time these teams played, however, this connection has been up or down 56% completion percentage when targeting Odell. Sometimes it feels like staffers forcing the ball to him, get some of those takes downfield, but I believe for the rams to win Odell Beckham junior needs to emerge as a secondary receiver tonight. I like it. I want to see cam Akers tonight coming back off that injury. We saw this run game get stymied last week and get to San Francisco forty-niners, but I believe them tonight the Los Angeles Rams to win this game. Cam Akers is gonna have to run the football really well. I also love to see him being utilized as a pass catcher, specifically in their play action cast, screen game, can makers got to have a big game tonight for the rams to win. Listen, for me, it's about Zach Ertz. He's gonna go up against the linebackers of the Los Angeles Rams who play more like bag liners and they also have lost both of their safeties in the middle and are playing back up. Ken Zach hurts work the middle of the field. He's been a top target for Kyler Murray since coming over from the Philadelphia Eagles he's been productive. He's also Uber talented and the Los Angeles of this rams are hurting in between the numbers. Hey, yo, JJ watch your brother score the touchdown last night. What you gonna do? I know he was coming off the injury. This is a big get for the Arizona Cardinals, especially interior pressure, trying to get Matthew Stafford off his spot in making uncomfortable. It's huge in this regard from what JJ watt has been able to do. And not only that with a defensive line with Zach Allen and obviously you got Jones on the outside. This interior presence can change what they can do defensively. Speaking at JJ watt, let's bring in Adam Schefter from SoFi Stadium. Adam, what is the latest on watt for tonight? Laura moments ago, the Arizona Cardinals officially activated 5 time Pro Bowl defensive end JJ watt who underwent shoulder surgery sometime in late October. He is going to play tonight. He'll be out there in certain situations. I would imagine on key third down place when they're trying to shut down Matthew Stafford, the rams quarterback who's trying to come up with his first playoff win, but the Cardinals defense will get that boost tonight as moments ago JJ watt officially activated Laura. Made the call knowing that we've got we're in a get some yards and then get down and got a clock at knowing that situation, something we've practiced over and over again. One got some yards, went down. As I was getting my entire soft four seconds left, I thought it was time obviously to make sure everybody was set and then honestly just got hit from behind. And still there, when I got in myself, saw two seconds and thought I could get the snap and get it down before time expired. And unsure exactly what happened other than that. I've never seen that come down, the lawyer came down. It was as far as the collision between the umpire and the quarterback. We were trying to get inside the 30 yard line to set up the last play. The mechanics were intact and felt from our end of it. Communication that I was given on the sideline that they were reviewing it, they were going to put them back on the clock. And the next thing I know that they're running off the field. So that's all that's the only facts I have for you. Marcus spears, what's your reaction to the end of this game, especially after what you just heard there from Jack and McCarthy? It's a culmination of what happened the whole season. That's really what it boils down to. And we had this conversation. I told the RC and Dan about this. We were on television. I was like, I'm not too worried about the clock management situation. Over time, you would think a coach that's been in this league this long when it's glaring as bad as it was with at least get that part of the game fix. I actually, like, I've been going back and forth with the call. Like, I don't know if I'm mad at the call. It's not. It's not awful call based on the way the defense was playing. But you also have to understand the time part of it. Exactly. And that is, to me, that's on the field. That's something that dak has to know. I got to get down a little bit early. But let me go to this point. And let me tell everybody. Y'all know how I am about the cowboys. Lord of cowboys, but I'm always keeping a hundred about them. This team been this way. This offense that they showed was the offense that made us all worried about them being one and done in the playoffs. They played against the eagles and we talked about it last week. Needed to see some positive things happen. Needed to try to get on the same page. And then you come out. I didn't think. I didn't think San Francisco was going crazy defensively on the back end. That defensive line was taken over the game early and often. But really what happened in this game for the Dallas Cowboys? Penalties. We talked about that. We talked about that all season long. And then a stagnant offense that somebody gonna have to tell me that Tony Paula was hurt. I need somebody from Dallas to call me and let me know that Tony Paula was hurt. Because when you in a playoff for a one and done and one of your most dynamic offensive weapons get 6 touches in a game? Go ahead, man. I got so much. I gotta save time for my people. How injured Ezekiel Elliott was? Okay. They didn't lose this game because of Mike McCarthy. They lost it because the passing attack was bad. It has been inconsistent throughout much of the season. But we know dak prescot the quarterback next year. They got time to figure that out. My issue with the coaching is what you just said, which is that these are problems that have been cropping up all year. Not just all year within the game. Everyone is so focused on the draw, we're overlooking that earlier in the quarter, one of the stupidest things I've ever seen happen in a football game took place, which is after the fake run for some reason. Get to hear your coherent explanation for what happens after this, the units staying out. And they're trying to get a time out, I guess, for some reason, the niners who are very well coached team comparatively are like, no, what are you doing? So you got to get a delay of game, you don't run to play more clock gets bled off. It's so frustrating because like you said, these aren't issues cropping up out of nowhere. We've seen clock management game management issues all year. This is the most penalized team in the NFL. They didn't just lay an egg in terms of penalties and a lack of discipline last night. This has been a problem. So I think, at some point, you do have to hold the coaches account. Well, I think the biggest thing is the Dallas Cowboys have plans that can't be adjusted. And if you have a plan that can't be adjusted or you mean, then it's a bad plan. The Dallas Cowboys understood that they wanted to run that point team out on the field, right? And then after the point team, if we got the first down, we're going to keep the punt team on and then we're going to run the offense on. That works if the defense isn't in safe. Right. Right? Because the defense is rushing the put. Now they have to take the point return off and run the defense on. They don't have to do that if they're in point safe. And so that's the reason that the San Francisco forty-niners weren't clicking out or weren't tripping because they were in the defense that they could play. And you had plus 8 most of the time at midfield anyway. Exactly. But so but you have to understand that if you were to Dallas Cowboys, it's not necessarily that they can't coach or that they don't understand football or that they don't go into games with their plan. It's that when they do get punched in the mouth or when that plan needs to be adjusted, the Dallas Cowboys haven't been good at doing that. The Dallas Cowboys worked on the play that should work if you have 16 to 17 seconds left, but it doesn't work when you have 14. They don't adjust that. They get the football and now they have an opportunity to snap at Daxi's four seconds or two seconds. He should know that he can't clock the football he has to take a play. They don't adjust and do that. And so I think this has been the.

"Three, two, one. Oh, my goodness. Good morning, good afternoon. Whatever it is for you, I hope you're having a fantastic day. My name is Zach Schumer. It's a strong opinion sports episode 300 and 97 welcome in. Let me just start with the obvious elephant in the room but everybody, I'm sure everybody watching on YouTube is thinking this as my hair goes longer, my hairline does get worse. So it's just now I'm kidding. You probably didn't even notice, but I know I noticed that I'm like, wow, maybe you gotta buzz it again. There's gonna be this awkward stage between curly haired Zack and buzz head Zack and it's gonna be a while. I don't know. Let's not waste any more time. I apologize. You don't care about my hair. Let's talk about NFL week 6, obviously. The Arizona Cardinals just beat the Cleveland Browns 37 to 14. It was a very, very impressive win. Especially when you consider that the cardinals did not have their head coach cliff Kingsbury, he was obviously out because of testing positive for the ronin. They also did not have defensive linemen, Zach Allen or Chandler Jones, a linebacker coming off the edge. And when Arizona beat the rams week four, they were four, I remember saying let's see how the next couple games go. And I am a man of my word. So I'm here to tell you now, it's time to give credit to the Arizona Cardinals. They are playing fantastic. They're 6 and at this point, in my opinion, dominating 6 weeks in a row, the Arizona Cardinals deserve to be in the Super Bowl conversation. And there are a few tough games ahead. You look ahead at their schedule, they've got Green Bay versus Arizona two weeks is going to be a crazy fun game. I hope it comes down to the wire. Who can make a bigger play in the fourth quarter, Aaron Rodgers or Kyler Murray? But the shock would be if Arizona won that game by like 20 points the same way they beat the rams. Then you have the cowboys and the colts later this year. I look at Arizona right now, they look like only a three or four lost football team..
