Emmy Nominations 2020: How Diversity Fared in This Year of Racial Reckoning
"ESO The emmy nominations are in and things of course, different this year because a Corona Virus Leslie Jones hosted the nominations from an empty set and she said they flew her in on a private plane to ensure her safety also. So that's how the announcements were made and this year. There were a record number of black actors who were nominated. It was a one hundred into acting nominees this year across lead supporting a guest categories and thirty five of those slots went to black actors. So that's a huge increase from last year. That's great. I'M GONNA. Tell you something them. What they should have been doing. But yes, I'm happy for those people. Right, and so let's talk about of the people who were nominated. Now, I love the Yvan Orgy, of course, posted herself on her instagram page, and that was her telling her parents that she was nominated for an emmy for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series for insecure longing. I got nominated for an emmy. This? This goodness and me not even. I don't know. Nothing to do the big one. Pill. Luta von orgy very well desired man von Orgy is super talented. She fills that role of Malaita. Enroll of molly is becoming like a a a cultural figure in black television. So salute to molly man. He, killed that road. She had me mad of hair for real in real life. I. Was like you know what is wrong with you? motionlessly, we've been emotionally invested insecure for a few seasons, and that's when you know you got a great show and you get emotionally invested into these characters.

"And so the copper leeches endear skin. It's an anti-aging pillowcase. I how you told me about this. You really didn't know that. I no, it's still cool. So that she by the way, where my bedroom. She's looking over my bed there. It is. Oh, I love it is they're awesome. So exciting that way, you don't get lines. And you know, what's so funny me when I turned forty yet ten years ago. When I turned forty I had this dinner party very similar to what we did for fifty. But I had this dinner party small and actually this one. We did I think was even smaller, but so a small dinner party, and I gave everyone as a favor a soak pillowcase. Okay. This was ten years ago. It's crazy. Is that crazy? Yeah. And then do you remember on housewives I talked about? Yes. When we were glancing. I talked about my sill pillowcase anyway. So so many amazing products as we have tune into Yvan very exciting. Okay. Honored birthday birthday New Year's or your birthday. I we did New Year's you did. Okay. We talked about New Year's and what a debacle that was. But. How is your New Year's mellow mellow? Just mellow leading up gearing up resting up for your party. Okay. So here's the thing about the birthday. I feel like it's a lot like New Year's Eve because when Natalie and I were talking about New Year's Eve last week 'cause we both ahead kind of like shit show nears eve, I although we did hear that. If you have a bad New Year's Eve, it means you have a good year. Oh, okay. I like I'm going I'm going to. But when when you think about New Year's Eve or like this milestone birthday it puts so much pressure on everything. And you know, I've been talking about forever. But I feel like it put so much pressure that it that New Year's Eve thing of all these expectations and you want it to be perfect. And you want it to be this. And you want it to be that? And I think that when I think about this entire weekend as a whole it was exactly the same as my life has been there have been moments that I thought were going to be incredible. That were that sorta fell short right there have been moments that I didn't expect that were. Unbelievable. Right. And there have been things that have gone just as plan and things that hiccup that were cool to just you know, sort of the, you know, ups and downs of life thing and relationships it was just that was the weekend. But in general before we dive into the nitty gritty of it. Right. I had the best best birthday ever. I'm so glad I loved it. It's har-..

"The way the baptist church that i grew up in was structured that there was a deacon board and that's kind of how they handle these these types of situations and they looked at me and they said you know if you offer divorce guys never gonna use you you have to resend the divorce and if i decided to follow in my keeping my divorce they were going to do what's called church discipline which is to kick me out of the church and and so what these men were telling me didn't resonate with the jesus i had met at three am in the morning though you're dead on my my my courage came from my relationship in christ and i know that i was not the only situation that was handled poorly by the church that that i was in so when we're dealing with some of what are the biggest hot button issues in the church today one of the things that's come to the fore as as a result of the metoo movement is the role of women's leadership in yvan jellicoe communities and that's really being questioned in profound ways complementarity anisim has to do with church leadership and the relationship between a man and a woman being able to lead a church now in in conservative circles people will say women cannot be leaders in the church at the other end people will say you know women can be head pastors you lie in a role that says men probably need to be head pastors but men and women can form co pastoring teams and that's biblical is that accurate that's exactly where i live right in the.
