"It's just a brilliant ripples of that driver market cities are still continuing. I found that quite amusing in a way. Yeah, I don't think there's I don't think we're ever going to tire of telling the story of this silly season. It's definitely been probably one of the silliest of silly seasons. And one of the big beneficiaries, though, is Nick de vries. He's going to be 28 for the time. He makes his F one debut, which sounds pretty ancient by mon Sanders for an F one rookie, but he's a driver who's earned his stripes. He's Biden's timings worked his way up. I believe you, did you cover his championship winning formula E season? I did, yeah. What kind of driver is Formula One getting? A very demanding one like I know we've just had a Suzuki could qualifying a session where gasly and sonoda berated the team over every time they flexing their big toe, it breaks their locking up on the outfit or really going at it. But de vries is demanding, but he has that element of charge. So it's like, I want this this and this, but because I do it with a nice smile, I'm going to get my way. And usually he's really, really right about that. I think the age thing is interesting because actually, yes, he will be 28, which for a rookie is very old, really, by comparison, especially when his compatriot Max Verstappen is skating so much. But I think may we actually, we should start looking at it the other way and go, well, he's younger than Perez because he is now in the after tour. If he does a good job, Verstappen gets on well with him, they're good mates, but Verstappen is the quicker of the two drivers. So if Perez retires or has a bit of a poor season, again, next year, and they don't renew his contract, then de Bruce should be in contention for that seat. Again, that's okay, he's not a Red Bull junior driver. He's come from the Mercedes ranks, but that is ultimately the aim of that team as well is to provide drivers. So maybe his instead of him being an old rookie, maybe him being younger than prayers actually might pay off. I know he's only done one Formula One race. I'm already talking about him getting into a championship winning car, but that's got to be the trajectory. He thinks. But he does need to come in and prove himself. There's a slight narrative around him that will make, you know, I've had to do things young conventional way because as the F two champion and didn't get an F one drive well, you know, second in that championship was Nicholas Latifi and he's fighting for his F one career and then obviously he went and won a formula for the former re title, very odd season that no one was particularly consistent, although de vries was mega. I think you could argue based on this season. They've changed the formerly qualifying format to make it a bit more linear. I think you could argue that de vries is not quite as good as stuff of van dorn, but staff will van dorn, at least publicly says he doesn't want to come back to F one. So now you have this situation where de Bruce is coming and I think it's an interesting signing. I would, you know, I don't want to be harsh about Yuki Snyder, but I'd expect divorce to be quicker than him fairly soon. And I think it will show a stark contract in sort of working practices when you get methodical diversity demands a lot from the team. And not just in terms of I want this change into the car and bloody blah blah. But because he is a new professional, he wants people to be just the same and there are certain sort of rumors about why he got dropped from the McLaren program aside from speed, but I think as his matured his learn how to get what he wants and he won't do the Yuki snowed R this car's a piece of rubbish or whatever. I think he's a bit better about going about things and getting what he wants. So that should ingratiate himself to the team and I think he's fast enough to be the stronger of the two drivers. And let's see where that takes him. I mean, it's a good deal, isn't it? This time 12 months and it was becoming clear that he was in the frame for a Williams drive but I looked and they went with Alex Albon. Well he's sort of almost taken Alex Albon's place in a way if you think because after being dropped from Red Bull like gasly was or like caveat, you expect album to go back to a Ross, but you didn't he had a year on a sidelines and I was cut ties with Red Bull and divorce is now got if you like his seat if you want to think of it that way. So what he can do with it okay Alfredo having a rubbish season and they've struggled with the adaption to ground effect but he's now sort of maybe leapfrog two or three spots at the constructors championship so let's see what you can do with that.

"That's something I've learned covering to cover F word. It's gets a few sort of whoops and cheers at key moments in the race. What was the reaction like at that point when Vettel was making his Aston Martin particularly wide? Yeah, it does. But it's a funny media center example, 'cause it's kind of like lots of different rooms if that makes sense. So we were in quite a small room with lots of all of our colleagues obviously from also swap and motor sport dot com, but as well as yeah, quite a few Dutch journalists and yeah, I think they were quite enjoying that fight because obviously as you said sort of Perez would be helping Max Verstappen out. And yeah, I agree. I think the more the race wore on, the more you're thinking hang with the mercks are actually coming into this because the hard tyre we start showing such little degradation that the tyres were looking really, really good, really consistent. It was a tyre that nobody was expected to use and even when the I think the alpines were the first to move on to it and everyone kind of went hang on a minute and I actually said that it's Esteban ocon after the race. He was like, oh, we always knew we were going to do that. And those though they are, yeah, had a little trick up their sleeve. And I think that the more it wore on, the more everyone saw how good that tyre was. But yeah, I think the Merck's made it work really, really well. And I think that it was always, it was inevitable that Lewis was going to get check out at one point. But I think I even tweeted that it was a return of Mexico's minister of defense, which is obviously the moniker. He got given after his brilliant display in Abu Dhabi last year that ultimately did help max win the title and it was obviously not quite to the same extent. But yeah, it was very, robust. And that's kind of really, that's probably the best part of Perez's race, to be honest. Again, he's not been on the pace that max has showed at all this weekend. I know that's a very high bar set to set. But yeah, I mean, you should be doing better than P 5 when you got the quickest car. It's as simple as that. So yeah, I think we were looking at that and thinking that, okay, we knew max had to come in again. And it was really just a question of when he would come in if he was going to go for the hards, just how much of a delta would he had built up in terms of laps and would that actually be enough to be able to get past both Mercedes. And yeah, it would have been, it would have been tricky. But as I'm sure we're going to come on to the virtual safety car and we could talk about a bit what about Red Bull's plan and who the VSC worked against and things like that. But yeah, it was a stage, you would definitely thinking murk have got a shout here like they're not, they're not going quietly. Yeah, I think to be blunt about it. First place for pros today, these kind of performances. If it's pre Monaco at the end of last year, these are the sort of drives that meant that Alban gasly Caviar were relieved of their duties effectively or certainly certainly I think so. The strategists, you know, the camera straight on Hannah Smith because there is a virtual safety car for a whole sort of, well, eventually a virtual safety car starts off as yellow flags for some sort of odd odd stuff going on with Yuki Snyder at first it's the tyres are incorrectly fitted and then it's the belt and then it's a differential. Which one of you three wants to try and unpack that? Jess, I know at this point you're back on social media because the conspiracy theories are flying. So lay it on us. Well, the engineer tells him to pull over and they're like, right, we've got to stop the car because you can't be going around if we don't think we fit the tyres properly. So at which point, I'm sure he thinks well that says gone. But the team look into it and they go, no, there's nothing wrong, like the tyres are fine. You're fine, cars fine. Like maybe just come back to the pits, we'll check it out. So at that point, and this is what a conspiracy theory starts kicking in real hard and I honestly want to burn Twitter whenever I see stuff like this start to fly around. But anyway, so he makes his way back to the pits. They check. They change the tires because why not? They're going to have to change strategy because he's basically down a lot now. And we see him fiddling with the cockpit. So checking the steering because Yuki was reporting or maybe it's a steering because I'm just feeling something really weird, like something's not quite right. And then we see them fitting with the seat belts. So there is still a question mark as to alpha tower have come out and said, the seat belts weren't undone, but you had started to loosen them because presumably because he thought he was jumping out of the car. But he didn't, he says he didn't undo them. So that's all meant to be legal. The FIA has deemed it search. I mean, he has been reprimanded for unsafe driving. But not to do with the seat belts. So they send him out again. And within half a lap, he's pulled over again. I mean, I don't think he ever got back up to speed, really. He pulls over to the side of the road again and says, no, there's something wrong with the rear now. It might be the differential and that's what AlphaTauri is currently saying is the problem, but they are investigating as to why it was. But very, very, very strange. Run an event. But I guess the conspiracy theories are, oh, wow, you know, sister team of Red Bull. That's a highly convenient, right? Highly convenient that that comes. And I think I actually feel really bad for Hannah Schmidt at this point because I think we saw the kind of, I can't remember how many, I don't know if it was exactly the right time, but pretty soon after you had stopped out for the second time and the VSC had been called. It cut to the Red Bull pit wall and Hannah Schmidt was smiling. And again, the conspiracy theorists have now caught on to the fact, well, you know, she knew what was going on. But there's nothing to say that she goes, no, now the strategy is going to come our way, but I'm sure Luke's actually going to jump in here because the theory is actually that entire scenario where a VSC was called, whereas I think a lot of us thought maybe a full safety car would be called. Because of the car on track and the zambot situation is that the Marshals actually find it really difficult to maneuver the cars because it's in a sand dune, the racetrack. So they can't push the cars freely. They have to use cranes for the most part because they physically can not move the cars on their own using just human power. But as I'm sure Luke's going to dive into because he's done a video all on it for me already is that the VSC caused by Yuki tsunoda could actually have cost Verstappen. That's according to Christian Horner. Yeah, because we spoke after the race and obviously I'd seen the sort of theories and whatnot floating around and yeah, seeing the comments from toso wolf as well on sky saying sort of and I think visible confusion was the most sport dot com tweet summing up his mood and yeah, but Horner actually explained that as Matt you were saying that Verstappen didn't want to take the hard tyre. That was very, very clear because it was a tie that they didn't know and they're very unsure about. So the plan was always to extend that scent out,

"Around bravo. And this is the sport. Podcast race say at the belgian chrome pre but in an incredibly strange china events. We didn't really get much of a race atoll whatsoever. Pacific throughout the day and race control announced shortly before the pond race saw at three o'clock local time the formation not to be completed behind the safety. I'm pushed the style of these formation laps to three twenty five. The field completed. Two full formation ops but with most of the drivers reporting visibility and a lack of grip the racers red flight at three fifty. An old drivers returned to the pit lane. A lengthy delay followed but with the rain showing no sign of stopping and the time. Ticking down from the start of the three hour window. Three the chances of running a race to award full points greece slim with one hour remaining on the clock at five o'clock the shoes temporarily stopped the race. Freezing the clock to try and wait for a break in the weather. The rain slightly so the coach could return to the track behind the safety car. Six seventeen passing green exit and competed to full laps to ensure the race was official and a classification could be issued during the thaad lap behind the safety car. Race control red flag. The race again prompting the drivers to retire the lane before it was officially declared the final result at six forty four it means the stopping officially wins the voucher grand prix for red bull scoring twelve point. But we have had some confusion even since the end of the rice about the caucasians which we will get into. But let's just try to walk through this as best we can. Let's start with some of the fast confusion that we had with today's race about whether the race had actually started or not because we had on the radio. I can't believe i'm saying this. We had the radio and the teams you has. This race started or not. What lapa lapa we're going to be. We reduced what was going on. That jess i mean. I know that you equally confused. I saw you tweeting about it. Own when the teams don't even know where we are weird situation right. The would unprecedented got bandied about Quite a lot today. But i guess is i think if anything. This is the definition of unprecedented. The the way that that we had to kind of address this race was was bizarre beyond belief as we keep saying but i think so the the confusion came in. How many formation lapsed we done and whether that counted towards the start or not and we also have to take into account the fact that we have this time period in which we have to complete a formula one grand prix and that everybody rather confused. Because i mean even the f. One timing screens were confused because at one point the clock haven't started and then it had started on. That's the three hour window in which you have to complete complete grump raid in order for its count Or at least in order to to decide how many points we're going to be awarding was full grand prix as well as the lap counter. Which we're going to get onto later on as well so a bunch of stuff happening and and essentially people couldn't decide initially whether because we did an additional formation because of how bad the weather woes whether or not counted as one of the rice. We also had on top of that just to make things extra complicated every time that michael massey cold for a delay to the race star it removed a lap from the title laps complete needed to be completed for the race so there was a bunch of stuff going on the delays that were removing laps from the title. Counselor that was the countdown clock that had started but what we essentially manage to find out about two hours into the race. Was it the race. Technically hadn't started until the safety cau- left the pit lane with the drivers entire at the stock. Which just to add further confusion was also colder resumption because they said right the race will be resumed not started so l. Just got very very confusing. Because we i guess just never really saw an initial getaway that we would say. That's the start of a grand prix. So that's that's basically. I have no idea if i've explained that any any well but essentially why we got confused. The teams were confused. The pundits were confused. We were confused. Mean the the to and froze going on our to'real chat trying to decide if the race had started on all was just. It just goes to show that. Actually i think one of the main takeaways today i think is really important is how important is have really clear direction and clear communication not just to the teams but also to the media in times of what is going on because i mean local. No better than than i will. But i just felt like that was Direction and there was no communication and it was lucky enough for at least on our side that we had the faa radio still going between colosseum the teams so that we could at least a kanai. There are still questions about whether or not this race has begun or how long we've got left to do how lax play because it just seemed like no one knew which is you can give element of forgiveness. I guess when it will strange. But yeah i mean the amount of red flags we thought the season is is is crazy So yeah i think it's just a just goes to show that in times of crisis like this..
