"Life. But you got to account for the fact that the way voice actors act in anime or delay animation in general is very different from how people act in live action. And yeah, it's just so jarring because it's like anime anime dub energy, but like coming from a real person. It's just like, I don't know, man. A real person in the planet. A real actor in the flesh. It just doesn't, it's weird. Yeah. Craning created their neck and jerking all around and you know, making all these frenetic. It's just like it's too haptic. It's too hattic. It's too literal. It's too, it's too everything. Too loud to make it too much noise. It's too much. Yeah. I still recommend people watch though. I don't know, man. I just, I like that shit. There are moments. It feels like it's a show that definitely it's rough. I can sit here and tell you a lot more shit I didn't like about it. And yet, it's the kind of thing that if again, if I compare this to the Netflix death note, I'll tell you what, I finished Netflix's death note and I wrote about it and then I immediately forgot I had ever seen it. You know what I mean? And that's not that was not my experience with bebop. My experience was bebop was definitely like, I have some notes. But it felt more like, okay, at least this time I feel like a western live action adaptation crew came with something that I could work with. You know what I mean? It's like, I at least watch something where I'm like, okay, some of this stuff, I don't like, but some of this stuff I can take away from it and be like, okay, somebody else now can go do another project and do more do more of that. Do more of some of this stuff that this show does, right? And that's to me the thing where I'm like, I do think the show is redeemable and that it's enjoyable and that if you have a particular kind of taste, you might get something out of it. Because it definitely it has gems that other kinds of western live action adaptations don't have. I do though, I was listening to anime world order this weekend. And Daryl's rat put it away that he located something that I think is totally right and feels really hard. She was like, you know, why not talks all the time about his influences in making cowboy bebop and he talks about stuff like Blade Runner. And then you watch live action bebop and it feels like the only thing the people who watch this have ever watched. This cowboy bebop way is like, they're only ideas like cowboy bebop. And I think that's true. And that's kind of a thing you and I have talked about before. That's where you get too lost in the sauce. You get too shook by the idea of adapting something and being faithful to it in not pissing off the fans that you narrow your imagination to just the source material. And I do think that that's like the weird blend of like vicious is not faithful, right? And that's the most jarring thing. But I think other mistakes the show makes our result of them. I think being a little too narrow and a bit to my OPEC in terms of what they thought they maybe could get away with with the characterizations or I don't know. But I think there's gyms. I think there's good shit in the show. I guess, but I would say. Yeah, you know, sigh sigh, side. So you can what you can watch, you can watch, you know, this adaptation on Netflix, see for yourself. Right, that's about sound only pod at Gmail dot com. Let's talk about young Dolph, though before we go. Just because it's been a second too since I read up on what exactly happened. So it was a shooting in Memphis. Yeah, the shooting was in Memphis and Dolph was going to get cookies. And was shot outside of the cookie shop. Yeah. That's why. Yeah, I kind of don't even mean the earliest episodes of this relaunch podcast. You remember we were talking about Pop Smoke and stuff and we were just talking about how music I don't know man. Just how many people we listen to and talk about on this podcast. You know what I mean? Like our dad. And it's like really distressing to think about. I guess that's what I'm saying. As people who feel hip hop. You know what I mean? Yeah, and I mean, like, I think I was talking maybe it wasn't, maybe I wasn't talking to you. Maybe I wasn't texting you about this, but it's it feels also like it's like uniquely it's like uniquely said because. Of like a certain level of like in addition, in addition to the actual real life families he helped feed in and around his hometown, but it's also like the invincibility represented for anybody that sort of listened to him. And I've been like there is sort of I'm thinking about like I was thinking about the 2017 out. The bulletproof album. After his SUV got sprayed off when he was in Charlotte. And the track listing reads hundred shots in Charlotte, but on bulletproof. So fuck them. That's how I feel. All of them. There's also the time that he got shot at like in Los angel Angeles and then filmed the music video of him getting out of the hospital bed and into a Rolls Royce truck. There was like all the TMZ reports were going over the weekend and everybody was just kind of like, you know, I just all I want this week is for Dolph to make it. Like, you know, I just, you know, prayers up. So on and so forth, and I remember that he tweeted, it's dope and all caps, like after the, it's just, you know, man. He was so special. I know, man. Rap music breaks my heart. That's all I gotta say. Yeah, I mean, listeners, email is about doll. Email us about cowboy bebop. Sound only pod at Gmail dot com. Mikey, you got anything else? No, man. You know, shout out to our producer Stefan Anderson. Yeah. All right, we'll see y'all next week..

"But he doesn't have like a this is a stupid problem. But is it probably is like there's no business gets no bars off. He really, there's no bars. No. There's no cool he has no cool moments. Like all of the even his entrance. Is ruined immediately by him talking. Like, there's just. Yeah, it's just the fumble that one. Yeah. But part of why I like the rest of the elements of the pearl of foes because again, I thought I thought that the show by that point, like you said, hit it stride, and that I felt conflict, even though the visual style looks so different, right? And it looks so much like 90s TV. That was adapting something from an anime. Knowing that they can't really match like you could make a character do anything with really luxurious expensive Japanese action animation from the late 1990s. And instead, they said, no, we're going to have our own. We're going to go nuts with this in our own way. And it's going to look a lot more stagy and it's going to look a lot more pre prestige television. And I don't know. I found a lot to respect in that. I think there are moments where it feels like the show at least is, it knows that it's not actually competing with cowboy bow up the animation. It knows it's not. And again, it's like, how would we be bop is not just like, we're not talking about Naruto, right? When we're talking about doing a live action adaptation, even death mode. Netflix did death though, right? That note is great. Death load is like one of the most addictive series I've ever watched, right? But I don't think anybody looks at death note and says, yeah, man, the animation of death note is really top notch, right? It's more about the story and the characters and the plot. Whereas like, in terms of the visual style of live action bebop, those people know that they can't compete with the most acclaimed series, some shinichiro watt nabe, who, like, is one of the most exactingly good animators of his generation in terms of TV anime. Like, I think the show in its best moments sort of resigned itself to just being something very different visually from that and committing to it and having fun with it. That's why I like it despite how negative I think this combo seems, I think from both of us. It's like it's fun, and it's best moments, it's not, it's not cowboy bebop, and it's not as good as the original cowboy bebop, but it is something fun in a way that I find rare in other television, certainly on Netflix or just in the post prestige TV landscape, where everything else on TV right now feels like it has to be so much more expensive looking and so much higher stakes and so much more polished to a fault if that makes sense. And this is just some goofy shit sometimes. The best parts of live action bebop are just goofy, goofy, shit. Except for visions 'cause he's too goofy. Would you be as positive about the show, like if it wasn't like would you, first of all, would you have watched it? If you didn't know that it was like, you know, an adaptation from a show that we both love. Like, you know, like if it was like something that you are scrolling over and it was, would it be good enough for you to be this positive about it? Like the show itself. But I'm narrative, what it is. Yeah, but that's I say that as someone who likes watching even random Japanese live action adaptation of anime series that I haven't watched, right? And I think we teased this a bit talking about it like maybe previous episode or before that, that, you know, Japanese live action adaptation of anime is very different from western live action adaptation. And this kind of does feel more like the Japanese style where everything looks too costumey. And it's like, that only really works. If that's your vibe, right? If you're willing to watch something where you're like, I don't know these costumes don't look nearly as good as anything in the original thing. But it's still a distinct vibe of thing. And I don't know. Even if you like, I think the way you talked about it on an earlier episode is like, they should just call the show bebop and just pretend like it has nothing to do with cowboy bebop. I would have watched that because it's like, okay, space western. Okay, that enough is still, that's still enough to get me in is space western, you know, Kung fu thing. And yeah, I probably would have watched it. Viciousness wig looked so bad. This choreography. Yeah. I mean, it's 7 out of ten. It's fun. It's fun because at the very least, it's weird and expensive. So that's. My high phrase for Netflix and annotation. Okay, we've up. Weird and expensive looking. Can we talk about a real quick, though? 'cause Ed they really hold the reveal of Ed until the very end of the oh my gosh. Batch at least. And I can't believe they did that. I don't. I do not like how they styled edit. All I don't know why that's the direction they went. It is so awful. It is so awful. I don't get it. It is a crime. Yeah, it is. I guess now you understand that this is seriously that was as I saw the ad thing. Edge showed up and I went full like it was like I went full fail. I was just like, do I need to get on a floor of about this? This is like. Unbelievable. I had like a yeah, and they, I mean, have this little gremlin child just like to say like just. I don't even literal about it. It's too litter. It's too literal. It's way too faithful to the original. Like, in a way that is like the very the most abrasive parts of like a best of the 90s where you're just kind of like, this is so indulgent. I can't believe you put this shit in here. This is my least favorite part of it. I would like it to be over now. That is the edge part of the show. It's kind of like they didn't take into account that like, look, man, you know, acting in general is obviously different from how people talk in real.

"I thought they thought they got the chemistry of the characters, right? I think they mostly got it. I think I was certainly worried about Faye in particular because of the trailers and spikes weird bit about like wanting to I'm sorry. Her performance is just way too blinky. Like there's just there's no sultriness or savoir fair to it at all. I mean, it's like the. Like the smooth operator aspect of the fake character is like completely missing from this from this characterization. They made her more of a they made her more of like a BuzzFeed article about scamming culture or something. It's kind of a secret. But they didn't fully commit to do we met either. It's like, it's because I mean, that's what happens when you're two. It's like they're very beholden to the source material, but doing that somehow for that character. You know what I mean? But like, yeah, like all right, let me pause this stuff and take here. What if, instead, spike was black and jet was the like you know old divorce dad that he's supposed to be? The old divorce white daddy's first. Does that mean like that's what I always thought about. Like jet and the original series is like, you know, your friend's dad, that's an occupational therapist and has a bunch of weird ways to make that from his travels. Next from his travels in his house, you know? Yeah, yeah, I agree. Like, you know, at like the Michael Caine that like, it's like it's like okay, in the earlier in his life. Why is Michael Kane that why is 1970s Michael Kane? You know what I mean? It's like he's because I'm specifically thinking of not the episode where he has a run interference on fatty because they're chasing after some bark and a bar, but he's in a he's in a disguise at a party. I remember it. He's wearing the sunglasses. And the wig and he's just like, loving peace, man. And the way that he talks about, oh, the way that he likes to explain jazz to everyone. White dad. Yeah. That is, that's right. Okay. Right? Well, okay, so when I give credit to the what I'll go ahead 'cause I want you to finish this, 'cause you got some you got some you know little TV show over here and I gotta like it. I kind of want a great player. I mean he's like, no, I'm like, and then, okay, and spike spike should spike should have been like some it should have been like a stringy vibe like, you know, bohemian ish black guy. Like not like, you know, he's supposed to be. It's the same thing as like have you ever looked at when you look to spike, have you thought about spike? Did you think about spike as being like what race was spike to you? Spike was always black to me. Sort of in the same way that spike was Japanese. I always thought jet was black. And that spiker Japanese and I think I probably thought it is white. Maybe I'm just on an island here. That might be a bit. But it's also so if I can distill what you're saying, and I do give credit to the actors, I think at least for the chemistry. I at least think that they're bickering energy felt good. I think though that the dynamic in between the three of them was that they developed over the course of once they got into the rhythm of playing off of each other, like it made sense. Them as the unit, the bebop unit made sense. Right. But to your point about the divorced ad energy and kind of my point about Faye as a BuzzFeed scammer energy. I think from the outside of that trio, kind of the problem the show does have. Because it takes a different stylist approach. Is that the show is kind of afraid to make spike jetting fay, look like the pieces of shit that they are in the original series. Their pieces of shit in the original series. You know what I mean? They're kind of they're down on their luck and they're they're really slumming it. And in this show, because there feels a more palpable urge for them to be likeable, I think that's why they can't do this stuff you're describing with jet or why they can't do this stuff that I think we both think that we would have liked to see with Faye is because then you verge on anti hero discourse, right? And it's like, and because you've taken the more stagey bright poppy approach that sort of TV that 90s TV approach, it's sort of doesn't necessarily mesh well with that. To do that kind of like anti hero stuff. So I think they may be soften all the characters up a bit. And they also soften. They soften a lot of characters up a bit to make it make sense with the rest of the style of the show. I think is what happened there. Yeah. Yeah. Like I'm being I thought we were talking wish fulfillment, not like, you know. Internal logic of what we actually saw. Yes, I'm saying that to your point. Like the longer you go. By the time you get to the PL, the fu episode like it's sort of it's sort of as making, like it's kind of like the show has its sea legs. So to speak. Yeah, like, you know, it doesn't feel like I didn't completely roll my eyes at the way that they did the fear of saying, you know. How they tied it back to the syndicate and the dogs and the whatever. I was just okay, I liked the dog part. I did like so in the original series, it's the cat is the trigger for Piero lefou. And in this they make it dogs. And I liked that tie back to this indicate. What I did not like. And I think it's, again, it's important. No, the Vishnu. It's that the pearl of phi episode is like, we go in. We watched the trailer. We think, how are they going to do this? That episode in the anime is such a feat of animation. We're all worried about the approach they're going to take to make that live action. And to me the real problem with that episode is that they find yet another way to force vicious into that storyline. And vicious in this show is not good. And so it's just like, I think that's the problem. It's one thing to sort of vicious viciousness characterization in the show is so jarring and feels like the most often about it, which would be fine, except there's so much of him. And even in the profession, which has nothing to do with vicious in the original series like it's not even it's not even like a sort of like Johnny Tapia type, bad performance, like in bad boys too, where you could really make fun of it later..

"You know, he doesn't say a lie. He's this terse shadowy PRES a lot of like series in the end. Even as they build. Yeah, even as they build that store in the anime for those four to 6 episodes, the story is mostly suggestive. Inference, you're allowed to like, you're allowed to draw your own conclusions about what the nature of working for the syndicate was what the love triangle was exactly what Julia has been doing in the in between time, meantime, exactly. All of that is left up to my conjecture here say like a flashback here there. You know, a conversation between jet and spike where they're just using pro downs and it ends like with one of them storming off. And you don't really get all the information. So it's a choice a choice. In this case, he's had to in this series to make it. Yeah. Yeah. He talks a lot. Like in the first episode where you see vicious he talks too much man. He says, more in that scene than he ever said in the original series combined. And he's very hammy. He's just a very British hammy performance. And it's even the lighting. It's like every scene he's in, they throw so much light on him and vicious in the original series existed entirely in shadow. And now he's just sort of lit in this very like you are watching a live action anime adaptation. He is wearing an anime ass wig. And it is, that is jarring. Vicious, I will concede is like characterization is jarring in this. It's everybody in this show just looks like they're cosplaying as their character. It's the thing that we're talking about. It looks like, you know, people dressing up to go to a convention, rather than any of these characters being as believable as the characters. Well, okay, but I actually, I think that that's certainly true of vicious. I think and it's certainly true of Ed? But I think everyone else, I actually, the more I watched I did feel like I settled into the look and I did feel like after Faye and jet. I mean, what you're describing. Except for Jen's beard. Yeah. The rest of them kind of made it work in a way that vicious doesn't. This is just looks like he is at Comic-Con. The entire time. Yeah. Yeah. I think it's also like they're being like, I think that you're describing a bit of stock on syndrome because again, we are talking about ten hours of television versus yeah. Yeah, you know what I'm saying? No, but one man Stockholm syndrome is another main suspension of disbelief. And I definitely feel like, yeah, they are, if you sort of look at those costumes at a context, they look like costumes. But I do think that the show I at least think the other characters look like after a point they blend into the larger visual sort of styling of the show. And that's why I would distinguish them from vicious. Because vicious, no matter what they do or where they put him, he just, and it's like his acting call so much attention to it too. And it's just a distinct failure of the show. And that right there, even though I liked it a lot, it's so jarring that that alone I would understand if people were like, nah, they fucked this up. Just based on how they handle vision. It's like it's you are man. I mean, all it's just all that money they spit on that jacket and the lay they get all the throws is slit and it's still ain't Ralph. It's like in the original like in the original, he is like, yeah, he's just he's just implied malice, like he appears out of the corner of your eye with the vulture thing on his shoulder, you know, with the katana out and goes, you know, your time is over. And then like, you know, that's it. It's not really a conversation. Ain't no conversation. There's no conversations. There's no conversation. So it's like the way that the characters played in this show makes any imminent confrontation between him and spike feel stupid. Like, you know, it feels like you're watching it's a Bond villain. Watching his plan go to pot. And, you know, he's going to be running out of a collapsing building. And he's going to turn around and be like, you know, I could live in a world where you have everything and I have nothing or some shit like that. And then they have their sword fight and it's not even like that long. Because, you know, he's always, he's always been whack. He's never had the hands, because you do that, the entire show. He's talking because of the way that he's been talking to fans. Yeah, he's doctor fade the whole thing. By everyone. Yeah. And it's just like, this is not that's not how that's not how vicious is supposed to work. Yeah. I feel. That's wrong. Listen, ain't no conversation on that that we go take a break. "He's not like he's not hot enough to be spike in my opinion. And he's not he's not athletic about to be spike. Okay, so I actually, and here I'll come in with my overview because I specifically disagree with that. Wait in the point you phrased. I like this show. I take all of your points about how it you're right. I think it is not self aware enough about how much it feels like the 5th element or Luke Busan thing or even Nash bridges. Instead, it feels kind of like a happy accident that this and I teased this take in the previous episode of sound lonely. It's a happy accident that this show feels like it has more in common with Star Trek TNG at times than it has in common with cowboy bebop. And I just happen to like that. I think that's a weird direction. I think, especially in the sort of Netflix era, the streaming era, you don't get television like that anymore. Everybody after The Sopranos decided that all TV that isn't Big Bang Theory is instead going to try to look like The Sopranos. Even now modern Star Trek has to look like a JJ Abrams movie. And I like that cowboy bebop came and said, what if all the props looked like they were very clearly made of plastic? What if all the choreography was really goofy? But it's just like I feel you. I feel you, but the show doesn't it's the show's two a too long to carry that to carry that premise. And two, it doesn't feel B it doesn't pay it to. A and B, it doesn't feel like it's aware enough that it's even doing that. Okay, that's fair. But then to get back to your point about John Cho. Because I feel like that's where a lot of the expectations surrounding this came from, right? The casting of John Cho, ever since that people are like, okay. What are they going to do with this? I remember I was watching the screeners and my girlfriend walked in the room and it was like spike was on screen and my girlfriend was like, he's skinny. You know, it's like, your points up. Oh, no, I mean, like, I'm not saying that he didn't get into it. I'm not saying that he didn't in great shape for this role. I'm saying that his limbs are not long enough. His body does not move in the right way. The fighting is too stoked. That's what I mean. But to me watching the show, my thought was more so. It was less about John show, and I feel like in general, the problem with this adaptation, which again, I like on balance, I am recommending this to people. And I'm saying, especially push past the first couple episodes because I think that the first couple episodes are the worst stuff. And I think it gets more interesting and it gets better. But specifically, I think the show overall is betrayed by two qualities. One the fight choreography. I think regardless of the shape or the sort of stature of John Cho, to me, it's more about how the choreography is done and shot and it's just like, it doesn't just frame it right. Yeah, it just didn't frame it right. And it's like, again, you get the idea to noticeable. Yeah. It's too notice. You can see too many of the seams and you know what I what would have worked like wonders what would have made this movie I mean, sorry, the show. Hundreds of times better. What? Is do you remember the scene in an old boy, after he was born? I know. You and JK, all right? I'm gonna watch old boy, but I have it. I'm sorry. I like to apologize for Collins. Peter. To everybody. It's Korea. Damn. Country. No, but despite it, despite what you're saying, though. I mean, it's not even like, damn, that's not even going. Anyway, I'm not going to. Anyway, anyway, like anyway, I'm not going to go back to the beginning of time. In the course of the movie, he is, you know, as he's taking advantage of it or whatever. And he ends up kept captive at a hotel room for 20 years with nothing but the TV to keep him company and whatnot. He comes out, having watched, you know, shit tons of jeet kune do infomercials and practicing on practicing punching. His wall. And he's just kind of like, I wonder if I know how to do this for real now. And he gets a cost of a gang of street youths as he steps out of this hotel. So and the way that that scene is shot like the actor and I can't remember what his name is. But I mean, was older, kind of, like, you know, not really, I mean, a good physical actor, but not like athletic by any means. It's not like somebody would look at it and think, yeah, not like somebody would think like he could take 5 healthy spry 22 year olds. You know, but the way that the camera, the camera is like from the perspective of the kid that goes in first. And like the punches feel very like it's almost like when you're watching, you can feel the air of like whizzing past your face. They feel very jarring. It feels heavy. It feels like it's like you could have done things like that, like that would have worked within, you know, John chose physical capabilities in my opinion. Yeah. Okay. Instead of shooting at the way that they shot it, which is which makes all of it very apparent. Yeah, it's like too many things are shocked from far away so that you can kind of see when people pause. You know what I mean? Yeah. But okay, so that's the first thing I brought up is the choreography. I think the second thing the show has betrayed by is vicious. Villain, and God. So can I just describe, I mean, it may be people who have watched it or maybe haven't watched it, but, you know, a few flash the original series, vicious is the series antagonists, you know, he and spikes beagle like the friends when they were brothers once. And now they're, you know, in separate paths and they're destined for a confrontation with one another. Blah, blah, blah. But the point is, it's such a cowboy bebop is such a short story anthology format. And there are only really four episodes in the original series that kind of do the work of setting up the idea of spike and vicious confronting each other. And vicious is this terse,.

"About Netflix's live action adaptation of the acclaimed anime series cowboy bebop. There you go. That was a limp version of tank. That's how I feel about this live action. Yo, I think we're going to disagree about this. This is good. And by the way, I want to remind listens like one of the things I like about me and Mike is dynamic and really anybody like Kim and I had this too where it's like, we disagree about shit. This is the podcast where we disagree. I disagree with Micah about this show. I also want to listen. But on a very fundamental level we both appreciate that even bad things. Take a lot of effort and care to make. Yeah. Yeah, that's that critic. Thank you for adding that. That's not critical insights. The difference between. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Anyway, continue. We got to talk about golf too young golf rest in peace. On the back end of this, just the news out of Memphis. But, you know, we promised to talk about bebop. We're here to talk about bebop bebop is our bread and butter. You know, OG listeners sound only know that we started on the ringer podcast network as a podcast series, recapping neon genesis saving galleon. We originally thought to pitch a sort of second season covering cowboy bebop in a similar fashion. We instead are doing the show that we are doing today that you all know and love. But of course we're going to talk about bebop. Live action be bob. Let's start with summary judgments. Micah, you have the negative take. Just give me your sort of loose thoughts before. Okay. All right. There I think that this show, this adaptation on the whole. Suffers from ballooning from its original 25 or so minute deft quick in and out, you know, they had a thing that they wanted to do. They came. They did it and they left type of runtime to the you know the quintessential 57 minute Netflix runtime where it's just like we got to meet everybody and they gotta have affectations. And we need to have to have they each character has their one minder distracting detail and everything is loud and nothing is important. It's just busy. Overall. And I mean, it's like if you appraise it on the terms of maybe this show trying to do like the Luke based on thing from the mid 90s. If I review it, I specifically compare it to that. The 5th element. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, you know, there's also very loud and busy. It makes sense. That would be one direction you could go with trying to port the visual grammar of cowboy bebop into the physical world. And I mean like another thing I thought about was Nash bridges or late ABs early 90s. Police procedurals. Where it's like, those that's also something that, you know, yeah, sure. I could see that the show was trying to do those things. But on the whole for me, it suffers because of the core performances, which I know that you enjoy more than I do. Yeah, for sure. You brought Nas, bridges into this boy, I know it. I know it's your TV was like growing up now. I feel like there's also there's some there's some angel in there and some like, you know, firefly, like all the stuff that is sort of a bit of this particular pocket of culture like eating its own tail. Because it was cowboy bebop to firefly to, you know, star, whatever you want to call it. All the way back here. And we have it doesn't feel like a full circle. It doesn't feel like a celebratory full circle moment. Where it's just like we're doing all of these we're celebrating this pocket of culture. It just feels in the first couple of episodes, very cash gravity and slow to get off the ground. Specifically, the casino sequence? Oh man, I found my goodness. I did not like it. And I mean like also just and I know you feel me on this. Okay. So, one of the benefits of being a writer's guild member is that you get award season, you get the you get the award DVDs, right? So I was watching Spencer with the this goes for divide recently. And there's a lot of buzz around this movie for Kristen Stewart's performance, this process, Diana and the soundtrack and the framing and it's beautiful. But there's like this wide shot of Kristen Stewart. And I've been like, it's noticeable, Kristen Stewart and not Princess Diana. Heal it like sticking your heels across this, this row of, I don't know, whatever the hell it is, they grow in English countryside towards the scarecrow to grab a jacket off of it. But it's just kind of like at that exact moment I turned the first recipe with I was just like, she's too short. She's too short to be playing this role. And I don't mean that. And I don't mean it like pejoratively, I meet it as a fact. Because of yes because of stature and the way that the way that our body moves is not the same. It's like it's noticeable that it's Kristen Stewart playing Princess Diana. You know what I'm saying? So in the beginning, despite John Cho being hot and John Cho,.

"A reasonable doubt that when defendant shot and killed Cameron lamb, number one, defendant was not acting in lawful self defense. Number two defendant was not acting in lawful defense of sergeant Schwann. And three, it being conceded that defendant and sergeant Schwann were not affecting an arrest of Cameron lamb or preventing his escape after an arrest that defendant did not lawfully utilize deadly force as a law enforcement officer under Missouri yous of force laws, applicable to such officers. The court further finds from the admissible evidence beyond a reasonable doubt that when defendant followed sergeant schwamm into the backyard of 41 54 college and engaged Cameron lamb, ultimately shooting and killing him, he did so without considering or being aware of the substantial and unjustifiable risks associated with his conduct, including, but not limited to the fact that sergeant Schwann and he were unlawfully on the property that they were both escalating a situation that previously had deescalated and that their actions created or exacerbated the risk that what ultimately occurred would. The court concludes that this conduct was a gross deviation from the standard of care that a reasonable person would exercise in the situation and constitute a criminal negligence as that phrase is designed to find rather under Missouri law. Accordingly, as to count one in which defendant is charged with the class C felony of involuntary manslaughter in the first degree, the court finds the defendant guilty of the lesser included offense of involuntary manslaughter in the second degree a class E felony. As to count two, the unclassified felony of armed criminal action, the court finds the defendant guilty. A date for sentencing will be determined after further consultation with counsel, the court will order the preparation of a sentencing assessment report if the defendant chooses to file a motion for new trial, his deadline for doing so is extended ten days. I will order the defendant remain free on bond pending sentencing that will be the court's order council will withdraw their exhibits. Good luck, everybody. "In the PAC 12, it'd be one hell of a pack 12 started scheduling back 12 games. They're like, you know what? We've had enough. Anyone at the pax 12 network listens to this podcast. They must adore you. I just outright adore you. You know what? I can't get the channel. I know. It is what it is. I'm not saying you don't walk this back, and you know what? I reached out to him one time trying to be packed off fans, West Coast fans are always like accusing you of east coast bias, even though I live in the south. I get constantly accused of east coast bias. And they're like, you don't watch us. You don't watch us, and I'm like, you know what? It's partly true. A, because it's late and I got young kids, but secondly, at least once a week, there's a game that I would watch, but it's unpacked on network. I can't watch it. So you should watch the game? No. No. No. One of the big misconceptions about covering college basketball is that you have to watch the games. Not that important. It's not really that important. And so I reached out to the Pak 12 office and I said, hey, listen, there's a lot of media members that would probably like to watch your games and see how good Oregon state is or isn't. But like we don't have access to your channel because you don't have a direct TV contract. Have you guys ever thought just throwing it out there? Because just throwing it out there. You guys ever thought about providing logins to your streaming for people in the media so that we can actually see these games? And they were like, yeah, we're not going to do that. And I was like, well, that seems counterproductive, but good luck, growing your brand. Conference of champions. That's probably a Larry Scott thing. This is a tough one. I don't know. This one feels tossed up ish to me. I think Villanova is a slightly better team. Excited to see your little homie from Memphis. Yes. Kennedy Chandler who's been great. He's been great. He's been terrific. But him matched up with either Gillespie or perhaps Justin Moore. We'll see how Villanova chooses to defend him. I think this can be a wonderful game. I think this can be the very best game of the entire weekend in college basketball. I can not wait to see it. Give me novo to win. Nova to win in over to cover here. And I hope it lives up to the potential of being a very, very good game. Not a good, maybe UCLA last weekend, but given the wildcats also lost that, they've got just a bit of urgency here. I'll take J right seemed to win. Can you Chandler is? My little homie from the average team high 18 points 5 assists 1.5 steals. In 24 minutes per game. 18 points in 24 minutes per game. He's 6 of 7 from three through two games. That's 85.7%. He's a 100% from the free throw line. And you're picking against that guy. Yeah, I am. He's gonna come out and put RIP Dolph on his sneakers and go for 25. I didn't take that into consideration, actually. You don't pick against a young man from Memphis in the aftermath of Dolph's young Dolph murder. That's a fair point. Although J right just got into the Hall of Fame, this is the Hall of Fame tip off, I figure he might have, you know, the ghost of James Naismith. It'll basically be the ghost of James Naismith backing Jay right here while Kennedy channel will have understandable motivation after just a horrendous tragedy in your home city with young Dolph talented rapper there just to awful awful. Awful story. I almost, I don't want to overstate it. I didn't know almost witness it, but I landed. Right after it happened at Memphis international and I drive right past there to go to my radio studio or I drive near there to go to my radio studio. But if I decide hey, I want to grab something to eat before I go to studio. I might drive right past there. And yeah, broad daylight. I mean, clearly, you got ambushed. It was a targeted hit. And when I was leaving the airport, they had already they were just now blocking off airways, which is the street that runs parallel to the airport because yeah, the murder happened a mile and a half from Memphis international. And obviously the city's just reeling because, you know, first off, a prominent and I know he's, you know, I get it. He's a flaw, you know, he lived a certain lifestyle, but he also did a lot of really good positive things for his community and to see that happen is just wild. And as of this moment, they still don't have suspects. So we'll see. But yeah, it's been a wild week here. You're taking Tennessee. Of course. Again, I'm not going against Kennedy Chandler. That's the crazy. By the way, I was looking at Villanova's team stats. They have four players averaging at least 16 points per game. That's not common. I want worth three games in. Let's give it a few more. I know what you're saying. It's not common, but they've also the UCLA game was over time more minutes and all that. They played, I think, 6 dudes in that game. So that's why that's happened. Yeah, I don't need your explanation. I was just stating a fact. They have four players averaging at least 16 points per game. Game four, Saturday. Four p.m. eastern. Number 18 North Carolina versus number 6 per two inside Staples Center..

"I continue the podcast I don't have a sponsor how long will it take to get a sponsor? What do I really want to figure I don't know but I know this it's Friday it's new music day. So we're just gonna I'm just going to go through point some different albums out that I think you should look into obviously maybe maybe tomorrow I'll do a more in depth review of one or two albums or whatever depending on I'm going to be doing a lot of watching. Movies in a television today. So I may not even be able to get to that. But let me just point to point to a couple of things. Obviously, everyone probably knows the big album that came out or at least the one that has a big name associated with well I. don't even know if that's true but I'll just go through some of these. Here we go. Let's go back to the top. Obviously Smile by Katy Perry came out all right now Katy Perry still a relatively big name how how relevant is she? Currently, in the music industry I, don't know let's look here. I'm going to look at the chart really quick. see here. This is These are the global charts went album charts. Give me a second here. See if we can get to album charts. Top charts here we go. I'm going to go to albums. Yeah. Number One. Is See young boy. Young boy never broke again. That's appear low Wayne Rodway Young Dolph Nasr pop smoke juice world pop smoke money man Taylor swift man. Katy Perry is not anywhere to be found. There she is. She's number thirty. She's number thirty. So Katy Perry, like how how relevant issue now I sell maybe she will so a lot of physical copies but right now at least on apple on the album chart, she's number thirty so. The album dropped last night eleven pm central time midnight. So it's getting eleven twenty five am. So it's we're almost twelve hours into this. You. Think she would be higher. I don't know. Katy Perry, I hate to say this. If you think about it when Katy Perry county hit the scene know I kissed a girl and I liked it it was quote unquote controversial. You know a little edgy a little rebellious. And now. Does Katy Perry have that same vibe as being edgy. Contra now I don't think she does. So she she's she's Kinda transitional. Like. She's a she she she's in the pop world, but she was kind of in this pop know rebellious. Little create a little kind of controversy. I where does she transition end to like now? Like that's that's over I mean just consider. Let me look the lyrics here I think I have the lyrics for. Smile me here.
