Predators Sign Captain Roman Josi to Eight-Year Contract

"It's ESPN and ice but yes for ESPN talks about hockey I'm grateful NHL Writer I'm Emily Kaplan National Nhl reporter indeed you are so today the big finally get some actual hockey news talk about other than like injuries and stuff the Nashville predators call the press conference today like everybody be at the arena like eleven thirty 'cause we got a lot of things to talk about Oh what could it be could it be everybody knew immediately was the Roman you'll see extension eight years the Max nine point zero five nine for number fifty nine on the for this contract making Roman Yo see the third highest paid defensemen via the CAP heading into next season behind only Eric Carlson Andrew he is twenty nine currently will be turning thirty on June first of next year so emily we think of this contract firstly after talk about this trend this is the NHL trend. I feel of the last eighteen months when you sign a new contract it has to have some owed to your Jersey number in it and it's just ridiculous to me it's too cutesy it doesn't make any sense I don't know if the players leaving money on the table I'm not the team is like besides looking cute and a press release what is the purpose I will say this as well kind of a beat trend when you consider that Wayne Gretzky's numbers retired or all around the league and no one can ninety nine ninety nine it'd be the number I would use if you're going to pull the contract mullarkey that's for sure but I look I think that Roman Yosi over the last couple of years I've been one of the most consistent and best defencemen in the League he's a guy that we should be talking about enormous conversations probably over the next two to three years that's what level is at the most shocking part about it to me is the no movement clause because that is something that David Poile infamously does not give out here and Piranha or the only guys on the roster who have it and you mentioned his age he's about to turn thirty of this brings him to what thirty nine years old we're at a time where hey the blackhawks are playing the predators tonight on Tuesday recording this and we're talking about thirty four year old Brent seabrook halfway through his contract with a new movement clause that is looking pretty bad and getting scrapped for the second straight day and I don't think that Romeo who's on that same exact trajectory but we see why these things do become troublesome down the road right so doughty's contract was thirteen point eight four percent of the cap when he signed it trying to or Carlson's contract when he signed his this past summer accounted for fourteen point four seven percent of the cap and then Romeo Issues contract is eleven point one you percent of the cavs so greg numbers you get the sense that that's often couch come on what am I I always I always I was wave past math in high school I went in the back of the book copy down every a answer every lake odd-numbered question had the answer and then just a bunch of nonsense on top of it and hope that was right and if I was right like my goal was like a seventy five just get me through it did what I could so get degrees get the feeling that this this salary this is for the contract probably settles in around this much it's down from where the Romans camp was looking for they wanna like nine five it probably settles in around here because partially because of the trade protection that's that's a hell of a caveat from Poi- like you said and and because of it you know this this number on the open market is over ten I think for a defense of his of his vision Ilk we've been talking a lot about Albatross lately insofar as him being a Ufa and you know these kinds of guys don't become available when you look at a team like for apple like the Vegas Golden Knights like we've talked about for the things Golden Knights are loaded up front they've got a goalie they don't have a foundational defensive another Blue Line there's don't Roman he's one expert says one both these guys could have been available summer now one of them's off the market and you've got to pay for that so yes the term is frightening because like you said Brent seabrook cautionary tale right absolutely frightening term on this I will note that according to cap friendly the the contract is structured with all a bunch of signing bonus money in the first four years so all the way until twenty four when he'll be turning like thirty four right so that's just a little note little caveat no signing bonus money for the last four years and you know just there are ways to get around things but for the moment eight years over nine million dollars for one of the best defense in the League and the predators obviously if you look at the ages on that oster the next four years of very important

As that puck. I get someone on the Dallas bench. So the face come back in the Nashville zone. If you think it never happens think again more than twenty five hundred people have been killed at railroad tracks in the past decade. Stop trains can't. Stars have Tyler Sagan on the ice. And now they take Tyler Seguin off the ice a little bit of different matchups. Here. We talked about this earlier Colby and Jim Montgomery's trying to keep saying away from players that could defend a little better than others and the referee just skated over to Jim Montgomery, and he said, I'll give you this one. I'll let you make the change. But he was not happy about Dallas. They're the home team. They get lashed changed. They'll wait. The ref puts their hand up. They've got a few seconds. But you're right. You'll Hanson a guy they wanna keep saying away from base outside the Nashville lied FOX claims it for the stars, he'll shoot it. In Ellis looked at Yosi, and then goes up the far boards again, kicked down at center ice and Nashville is an apparently onside Forsberg tried to shot Ladele blocked at Ellis following up. Good hit from Dickinson along the boards play shot toward the net by Yosi. And then it's really further wide and a hit by Klingberg on. Arvidsson back in the nets Johannesen goes to the line, Yosi belting yet wide and high and it dies along the right wing side Ellis. Tried to pump it toward the net. Blocked and cleared to the line not out L keeping it in leopard best Yosi in one motion from the top of the near circle is shot in a save by Bishop. I hope Nashville doesn't score on the sequence. Because I think the play was off side. They will go back and look at that.

"It in their own zone. Make a change four fifty five remaining. Alice comes up with off the Roman Yosi Yosi's pass given back over left side Yosi tried to go to return to Benino Watson and Benino. The puck comes out. And it's Jake for tannin Vancouver. Who simply backhands it off the board back to the Nashville zone. Yosi for Austin, Watson, Watson emphasis systems breaks in and Rafferty. Got a piece of the puck and tipped it away from it out to the right point Ryan Ellis walking the blue line the shot. Stop watson. Bye. I love the attack at the debt. I'm not sure if this goal stand up this March was run over by. Pete Rose slide from the Boston lots in but you get to the net and your trash. But he does taps these spare change. Bucko support. You can see Watson. Just Franken his legs. Dives to the pot. Pushes it forward to the back post that bonito knocks it in. The shot originally from Ryan Ellis, so antler and Yosi down there. Talking with the striped shirts. To see what the initial call was a goal. I believe I do too. That'll determine whether Travis green elects to challenge it or not. But the save remarks. Watts crashes. It hits the puck but takes out March trim, whether they decide that you was a sable. Chance you know, that's up to their discretion. Well, they're getting ready. There's there's there's interference prior to the goal. Okay. The challenge. And I understand that. It's it's a much challenge at this point. I think. Yeah. They'd like to let it be. And now let's let Paul takeover. I don't know. And this is continues to baffle me. Looked like Marcia was out of the play. But he certainly lost his right at because of awesome, lots dining room. So. Could he have gotten back to make that safe? I don't think. So. But I I don't know we six six skills like to reach. He could have reached back with that likening. Austin Watson, the Pete Rose is a great call. It was a heavy. You got to charge the net. Yeah. You're down a goal. You need a goal. You got you got to dive headfirst at the next job. Bubble teams in Philly in buffalo Elise. Losing a couple of key guys. Not opportune right now for them. There's about another little shadow for you on hockey night in Canada. Why think it was more us? I mean, it just so happens at me and mcdavid looked at each other. Like, we wanna go each other. And they put the lady Gaga n- Brad honored who made that I don't know who ever made that me. It was pretty good is very funny and shutout the hockey night in Canada for for plug on us once again, and the mcdavid interview is a good time. I think a lot of people change their perspective on on how quote unquote, boring. He is he's took a page out of Crosby's book. He's not going to give you anything. He's not gonna say anything that's going to ruffle feathers. He just wants to play hockey he doesn't want because he's such a big name. He says anything like miniscule that might be controversial everyone's going to blow it out of proportion. We let his team comb through the interview just in case they're just looking out for him in his best interest. And I think people just need to understand that these guys are boring. They just are way. More in the microscope. Let's say Brian. Handle. And if you did miss it, gene Principe was talking on as they kicked off and candidates Saturday about six thirty. And he said you appeared on spitting chiklis this week. I shit my pants. I was watching it. And I couldn't believe it the entire void jeans. My boy, he's the master of puns. Appreciate it. That's the song. Right. Managed to get a towel and other players soon. Biz biz Comreg eighty. Fucking idiots back the towel do Scott. Hi, no. I think he makes everything just a little bit more interesting by his presence. Pretty funny moment during the ceremonial faceoff between national and Carolina the other night that Roman Yosi and just the way Scott how often one hundred dollars to the winner in only offer one hundreds of the winner of the ceremonial face off. You did it with his kid hold his kid like in his left hand. And he drops the puck. And it's funny. If it was a legit, face Williams, probably would've got thrown out of it. But we was really Yosi ended up winning the face off. But it just funnies little stuff like that. How it just indicative of how much of a character hot his when he wasn't the league that he thinks the stuff that nobody else does already you mentioned at the scariest thing about that. Is the fact that you know, those guys got very competitive and part of the carpet came up that was on the ice..

"Coming up the bizarre ski story of the week as well as stumped the millennial that in a little bit. So let me start with this may tie in actually to the bizarre story of the week. So American Airlines removed a family from a plane on Wednesday after the passengers and crew members complained that one of the family members smelled horribly bad. Yosi Adler was asked to the plane the flight headed from Miami to Detroit. So he's great with an emanates from here. Good. It's always a Florida connection. Right. After a team member was concerned about the comfort of the other passengers due to the odor. That's got to be really when you're when you're be. Oh permeates. An entire aircraft and you could smell. That's gotta be. So that's like that's skunks stuff. Like a skunk. Miles smells better skunk weed. I could never figure it out. "Measure for us. If our customers aren't having success who cares about the platform. It's why we're taking a look at at possibly adding on boarding team. So when people come into a free trial. They actually get on. We're looking at adding. The opportunity of migration where for persons with somebody else. How do we help them get over to quickenloans where they can then use that to have greater success with their customers? When I person- leaving click on us. I to know why what happened. What did we do wrong? What is the what is it? It's it's rarely ever dollars and sense. It's there's more emotion associated with that. And I would really encourage you to start talking to your customers. Find out. Why are they leaving? Why are they canceling? Why are they refunding? There's something wrong. Rarely ever. Is it a dollars incenting everything is based on value in? So if a person's looking for a refund. Yes, I mean, obviously, there's a couple of people you're gonna run across just are on hard times financially. And that's just the way it is for most of them is because you haven't solved that problem that they needed more than anything else. And they you had them with hope at the beginning. But as they started using your tool of your software or your your your product. Whether it's a physical product intellectual product of information product, the promises weren't fulfilled in the way that they expected so what are your customers expectations? How do you satisfy those expectations? How do you get just raving fans to where they literally become the people who start building your business because they just naturally talk about it. I was with Dhingra Yosi just a couple of weeks ago down jeans network. He's like, Dave. I'm sure I would be your number one affiliate. If you guys actually tracked it because I talk about you guys all of the time. But I just say go to quick funnels. I never actually used an affiliate link. Because because you guys have you have this ability to actually help entrepreneurs get what they really need and want in their business. And because of that I talk about it. And so as you take a look at two thousand nine nineteen for your own business. What are the things that you can do to make sure that your customers have greater success? What are the things that you can do to make sure that when they're out there talking with other business owners or with their clients or with friends that the in conversation bring your product up? For me. I've seen that happen with a ton of of our customers as they start talking about some of the success they're having and they associate a lot of it with a platform with with click funnels. The only thing I've seen is. They start talking about the books. They read and expert secrets in dotcom secrets the impact that that's had or video or a podcast. So understand the importance of your I'm as I'm talking about your customers realize it's also about the value, you're giving are you publishing on a regular basis, and is the content that you publishing are you publishing it in hopes of just getting getting likes in reviews, and hopefully just getting shared and engaged or you truly try to provide content that those who are listening can actually implement in their business and their life and improve their life. Whether it's in their business, or when their personal life, whatever it might be a lot of I've mentioned the fact I've been coaching with with jerick Robbins. I don't get paid at all for talking about jerick. But I've thoroughly enjoyed. My experiences last year in coaching with him same thing. As far as air. Cafe who is the coach I hired as far as lifting? I've never been consistent lifting as much as I have been right now. And I talked about Eric all the time. Again, these aren't people who are getting paid for anything else is just because I truly appreciate the value that they've added to my life. I look at podcast at Facebook lives again mentioned Andrew Warner. I mentioned Nathan lack I don't get paid to talk about them. But I truly want people to know these are people who are giving value to the universe. And if you're in those businesses, and you need that they're people I would follow. So I would really look at the value.

"And when I have a, I was a with Muslim, but I knew much more because we were on. On twenty million daily active user or something it was. It was used and we had to everything almost everything ourselves because it was a very small team. So you will then how working and teamwork you'll understand that the way of how to manage project after that. Then while we get into a well, we learn the corporate world, and this is actually very helpful when dealing with pharma companies and example, would you learn by working at the big companies while unlike stops where you know, almost anybody in the company can make decisions very quickly, and if he needs to have some kind of need some pool chain, stupid people in a new get and most of the decisions of made very quickly in a big cohort also and everything that seems kind of obvious. I feel like we should all know that. No. Where did it surprise you that a big company needs more decis. Making time and people. Yeah, that's. But you know, it's it's about respecting the Balsas on those standing forces understanding what would be the different locations for those. And when you're selling to big organizations, you have to take this into account. Okay. For example, you can't expect that the the fact that the CEO of the company said this break I wanted in that doesn't really mean that tomorrow you can do something with it will take another six months. Of time. And so we have to take into account, and this is really helpful when you understand kind of a big coke with culture. Twenty helps to navigate the in in those big, let me ask you something about, I seek you. One of the things that fascinated me about ICQ was after it was sold. It was yo- see Vardi who built a reputation. He started and becoming an angel investor, shepherding Israeli entrepreneurs to the US. They would come to Los Angeles to dance. He was the guy who who everyone associated with ICQ, but he was the father of one of the guys who work there. How involved was he day to day. You'll see was involved. I mean every day. Off if he had had their. Yeah, the usage impact on on. I thought that the time that it was these like I don't even know how to pronounce your name. It was. I'm known are I'm known Alec and yeah, you and it was those guys. I thought at the time who were own Seffi excuse me, who are the guys who are leading it and then Yossi Vardi at the time, felt like he was the father of the of one of the guys and then after it was sold. I never heard anything about the other guys. All I heard about was Yosi Bharti you'll see Bharti. What did he do? What was his role day to day. I mean, I don't wanna get too much to ask, but I I can tell you from my experience, they had a lot of contribution. We were with him on a phone on almost a daily basis, getting instructions on what to do in work, do you know? And he was it was a defacto. He was leading a lot of the business. Side of things and. I can. I. Save if father of he added yet. You'll draw in the company, but he was more of the guide or he wasn't the person who is coating up the website. He was more of the pros even code and didn't court. I shoot no. Okay. But he was the person who was just guiding them and said, look, I've got experience here..

"One more random thought here real quick this came with spars partnership tips and we were talking a lot about here again you've got ethan and dean yosi and brennan bouchard been this partnership for years and he said you know what is what are the success tips to partnerships and he said there's really three different things says the first thing is you have to trust them which makes a whole bunch of logical sense second thing though he says you've got a cop you've gotta stop keeping score if you go into partnership and you're keeping scores for is who's doing what he says that partnership is doomed i said the third thing then is is really focusing on growth details as far as where where do you want this thing in a year in two years three years and by doing that kind of stuff that's the type of things that he's seen as far as partnership that really mixed this partnerships really work well and getting continued go back as far as you got to keep you have to stop keeping score if you're in a partnership in your keep score that partnership is totally totally doomed it was i want to wrap things up your i've done a couple of things i want to make sure i get out you guys in the next couple of days so with that i hope you have an amazing day again if you're not currently part of a mastermind i highly highly recommend that you join one and if you feel like you don't have the resources years ago when i interviewed rick raddatz and he was just getting started his business he actually decided i'm going to go ahead and create my own mastermind and mastermind basically went out and he was the facilitator and by bringing in people who are much better in higher level than him he was just the facilitator of it and that helped raise his game so make sure the gender stand the whole idea here if you can and you need to spend money bottom line is you gotta spend money yet go join a mastermind and realized that by doing it what you're going to find is that whatever you spend on that that's just your price of admission that's getting into disneyland the key there is what you're going to do with it and what's the experience you're gonna make it have an amazing day.
