"Welcome to the Eric Metaxas Show. I shouldn't tell you this, but Eric hired someone who sounds just like him to host today's show. But since I'm the announcer, they told me, so I'm telling you, don't be fooled. The real Eric's in jail. Hey there folks, welcome to the program. Hey, Chris Himes. I know you're still in the New York tri-state area, but guess where I am. No, no, no, no. Guess. Wrong. Cabool. San Diego. Oh, wow. San Diego. Yes, I'm in a hotel room in San Diego because tonight... Okay, I always do this. I start talking before I tell people what to expect in the show. Today, folks, hour one, which is in a couple of minutes, John Zmierak will do his weekly appearance on the program. I love talking to him. Everywhere I go, people say, oh, thank you for John Zmierak. Thank you for John Zmierak. So we got John Zmierak in hour one. In hour two, we have my friend Ken Fish, who is always, what can I say, extraordinary. In the beginning of hour two, I'm talking to our friend Robert Netsley with inspireadvisors.com. I keep saying to people, go to inspireadvisors.com slash Eric because you have invested your money in places that are woke, that are helping woke causes. So in hour two, before I talk to Ken Fish, I'll talk to Robert Netsley briefly. But the solution is inspireadvisors.com slash Eric. I'll explain that after I talk to John Zmierak. But it's important that we all get involved and we all do what we can. It's actually very, very, very important. It's important that we do these things. And so I'm going to harp on it because it's very important, seriously, to the future of this nation and the world. So not to be too serious. Okay, so we got Ken Fish, we got Robert Netsley, we got Zmierak coming up in a minute. Now, Chris Himes, I want to share a couple of things. People have been wondering, where's Alban? And people wouldn't believe it if I told you. I might as well just say it. He had breast reduction surgery. And the fact is, folks, listen, that's between him and his wife and his God. And you don't judge people, all right? That's actually not true. But the good news is it's a bit of a mystery. But we've tracked him down. He's going to come back and give us an update. But last known sources say he is in Cairo, Egypt. That's not a joke. No, that's not a joke. Because they have a clinic for this kind of surgery in Cairo. They don't ask questions. But the fact of the matter is that he'll be on the program eventually to tell you in whatever it is. Yeah, we'll let him tell us. But there may be a book involved. There may be an abduction and taken overseas. But yeah, but he'll be back soon to, to reveal. And the only reason I know that is because I wrote the foreword to the book. But anyway, so we'll update you on Alban, because people were wondering, but I, I also want to say that the reason that I am today in San Diego is because tonight, there's a TPUSA faith event, a pastors conference here in San Diego. And I'm going to be speaking at that. And tomorrow night, I'm at an event at the Nixon Library up in Los Angeles area, Yorba Linda.

"And I had to say that. Okay, I was just in Miami recently. Oh wow. And I'm gonna be traveling a lot this fall. It's a little crazy. I don't know if I'm gonna be back in this building again in New York City. It is really kind of nuts. But I was in Miami, it was a magnificent time. I know at some point the video of that event will be made available. I'm going to be going tomorrow to California. I'm doing a TPUSA pastors event in San Diego. I'm doing an event the following night at the Nixon Library in Yorba Linda, California. Just unbelievable stuff coming up. I'll be in Iowa at a big prayer breakfast in Davenport, Iowa. I'm gonna be in Dallas a few times. I'll be back in Los Angeles. Go to ericmataxas.com where you can see my schedule. Because if I'm in your town or anywhere near you, I would love you to come. I love doing the book signings before or after the events or both because I get to meet people. And it really blesses me meeting you when you come out. So please go to ericmataxas.com. And please sign up for the newsletter if you haven't yet. Because everything we do here, all these interviews, the Jonathan Cahn interview, which I'm gonna do in a couple minutes, seeing it on video sometimes is just better. Yeah, and I would say there's a lot of stuff. I mean, you've listed a lot of the things that are going on, but there's even more stuff we haven't gotten into that we're planning to do this year. Stuff we can't talk about. But even the Socrates stuff, which you haven't even- We can't talk about that. Oh, well, I'm just saying there's a lot of stuff happening. Well, that's the thing, which is why I want you to sign up for the newsletter at ericmataxas.com because there is stuff that we never get to talk about on this program. Photographs, videos, all kinds of stuff. The Socrates stuff, I won't get into it now just because it'll take some time, but we've got some very exciting stuff coming up on the Socrates front. I mean, truly exciting stuff. Okay, people always ask me, hey, Eric, what do you do for fun? And I laugh bleakly. What? Because I don't ever seem to have time. If I ever have time, I tend to watch classic movies or great movies or whatever in the evening when I'm sucking my thumb. Because I can't write anymore. Did you ever think that maybe instead of the sequel to a letter to the American church, you should have done postcard to the American church? Just a little shorter, save yourself the aggravation. Twitter or text to the American. Yeah, that's the cool thing. Email to the American church. 14 texts. You gotta keep it fresh. A Twitter thread. You gotta speak to the new generation because they have the attention span of a net on crack. So you gotta speak to that generation. So Chris, the answer to that would be no. Okay, I'm sorry I cut you off there. So letter to the American church. Yeah, no, what I wanted to say was so classic films, so I always check out Turner Classic movies. Oftentimes they don't have something at eight o'clock at night that I wanna watch just because they're doing something edgy at that hour. But I like watching old films. So Suzanne and I have been watching a lot of Hitchcock through Apple TV or something. You can watch all these films. I mentioned the other day we watched the 39 Steps, the 1935 version, which is awesome. And then I realized, you know what? I've never watched Hitchcock's last film, which was one of the Rambo projects. Wow, the third one? Rambo four was Hitchcock. Just kidding. No, in 1976, Hitchcock made his last film. And I'd never seen it. It's with like William Devane and Bruce Dern and Karen Black. And so I said to Suzanne, hey, let's check it out. We've never seen Hitchcock's last film. Ladies and gentlemen, I've just saved you two hours. Oh no. Don't see it. Oh my gosh. It's terrible. He's famously in a lot of films with his cameos. And the last one, does he really do a doozy? In the last one, he does this thing kind of behind frosted glass, like you see his silhouette and he's talking. That's his little thing. But honestly, it's terrible. And then you go on Wikipedia and it got all these great reviews, but then at the end, it says some people gave it like the real reviews. It's a mess. I mean, I'm a writer. So communicating and logic are important to me. So when I'm watching something and it's really bad in that way, I just think this is inexcusable. Like it's Hitchcock was so good at that throughout his career. But in the last film called Family Plot, which you don't want to see, it really is pathetic. Like there's holes in the plot. There's mistakes. It was so awful. But on the bright side, I watched, most people know I'm a Woody Allen fan and I watched Broadway Danny Rose. I think that is his best film. Wow. I think it is so, it is actually beautiful and heartbreaking. It's hilarious. I like crimes and misdemeanors. But it's actually, well, I mean look, there are a number to choose from that are brilliant. Brilliant. And of course I've never interviewed him and I would kill to interview him, literally kill. Not a human being, but small animals. And I got to tell you, Broadway Danny Rose is, first of all, it's very New York, it's very Italian. Like he never went in that direction. But it is, it's 1984, but it's so brilliant that it's unbelievable. But it's also extremely heartbreaking. Like it's beautiful.

"I want Chuck Schumer to be right. I am not one of those partisans that cheers for a bad economy. I think that's one of the sickest things that I've seen in modern media. Bill Maher and many others hoping and cheering for a recession, hoping and cheering for economic anxiety, which of course then comes with higher alcoholism, domestic abuse, suicide, all that stuff increases as the economy declines. The economy is trash right now, unless you're rich. If you're rich you can navigate it. You go talk to regular everyday people, inflation is crushing people. The price of living, the lack of being able to buy a home, we now have 30-year mortgage rates have hit I think a 25-year high. I think it's 25 years. Consider the following. 3.2% which is core inflation in July, despite the Fed already sky-high interest rate. By the way, they lie about inflation. The inflation is way higher. $33,300, the amount in real wealth the average middle-class household has lost over the past year. They have become $33,000 poorer. $862 billion, the amount of an unexpected $400 bill. 67% of Biden voters who say the economy is worse than it was in 2020. We have now passed $1 trillion in privately held credit card debt. 37% of Americans approve of Biden's handling of the economy. I wish Chuck Schumer was right. When it comes to the economy, it comes to people's livelihoods, I don't unnecessarily spin like, oh, it's actually bad when it's good. If it was good, I would tell you it was good. It's dangerously bad right now. On the verge of collapse. And I'm not here to give investment advice. But here's my two cents. The market is overpriced right now. The market is overpriced. The earning to valuations, be careful. That's all I'm going to say. Play cut 113, please. Bobby Kennedy, Mike Pompeo in Vegas. He said, you know, when I was at the CIA, I did not do what I should have done to fix that agency. And then he turned to me and like looked me dead in the eye. And he said, the entire upper echelon of that agency is made up of individuals who do not believe in the democratic institutions of the United States of America. That's a quote. So what Bobby Kennedy Jr., he was recalling a conversation that he had with Mike Pompeo, where Mike Pompeo said, I didn't do enough to purge the CIA. Bobby Kennedy Jr.'s run for the, I have to say this every time, I'm disappointed in Bobby Kennedy Jr. and some things, he did come to our Turning Point Action booth, by the way, in Iowa, which is great. Come on the show, Bobby, I want to talk to you, man. Calling Moms for Liberty, a hate group, unacceptable. I'm going to be the most gay president, pro gay president, I'll be specific, the most pro gay president ever, ridiculous. I mean, come on, Bobby, you're better than that. However, his crusade against the administrative state, 10 out of 10. So you got to be fair. If nothing else, RFK Jr., talking about the question, can the CIA overthrow a president? And yes, of course they can. One of the red pills that is happening just through rank and file talking to people is realizing this constitution right now is not a complete document. It's complete in its form, but it's not complete in its function. What I mean by that, meaning this is not the law of the land currently. There is a super government that exists over the Constitution right now. There's a shadow government. There's a Leviathan that supersedes all our constitutional norms and practices. Woodrow Wilson was the driver of this, the administrative state. FDR helped put this forward. John Dewey put this forward in an educational realm. J. Edgar Hoover put this forward via the police state, the federal Bureau of Investigation. George Herbert Walker Bush, who was one of the first heads of the Central Intelligence Agency. The CIA used to be called OSS, and it switched to the CIA. And all of this connects through a globalist neoliberal mindset because the internationalists, the bankers, the people could not help themselves to design this whole different system. This is why people say, Charlie, what does Turning Point USA stand for? We stand for the promise of the declaration of the Constitution, period, hard stop. We want this back. We want this form back. We want the structure back. We want the consent to the governed. We want checks and balances. It's not even a question of whether or not there's a shadow government. The question now has pivoted in the conservative movement of how do we assail or restrain this shadow government. Restrain is probably a better word. How do we restrict their power? Because there's nothing that stops them currently. There's a shadow government that calls the shots. And Trump is such a unique figure because other politicians used to just step out of the way. So let me give you an example. The man from Yorba Linda, California, Richard Nixon, was elected in one of the most triumphant elections ever. 1972, I think it was. Yes, 1972 against McGovern from South Dakota. I think he won like every state, basically. 49 states and didn't win D.C. and Massachusetts. I think it was D.C., Massachusetts, whatever. Nixon was not as ballsy as Trump. When Nixon was confronted with a deep state coup, he backed off and resigned. Trump, to his great credit, he just doubles down and triples down and realizes the unfair attacks from the administrative state. They tried it with Nixon. Nixon was too popular, too many mandates. He was getting rid of all this nonsense. He wasn't a perfect president. But Nixon saw some big problems and he went about fixing them. And Richard Nixon was removed. They used the same playbook time and time again. Nixon was a threat to the system and they took him out. It's that simple. Same way they took out JFK. And they're trying to do it again to Donald J. Trump. The administrative state is afraid of you, the people having a voice. They'd rather have some sort of silly politician that does what the administrative state wants. "Welcome to today's podcast sponsored by Hillsdale College all things Hillsdale at Hillsdale.edu I encourage you to take advantage of the many free online courses there and of course a listen to the Hillsdale dialogues all of them at hugh for Hillsdale.com or just google Apple, iTunes and Hillsdale Welcome back America. I'm Hugh Hewitt inside of Studio North Joined now by Vivek Ramaswamy. Vivek is the author most recently of Woke Inc. inside corporate America's social justice scam He's a graduate of Harvard College of Yale Law School, which is pretty good for a kid from Cincinnati, especially a St. X kid. Very successful biotech investor now runs Strive. Of course He is best known for sustained attacks on woke ideology and for his very surprising 2024 campaign he's in third place if you use the RealClear politics He's in second place if you use some regular polls. Vivek, welcome back. It's good to see you again Good to see you. How are you? I'm great now. I've already told the audience we chatted on Friday You did not want a pre-interview. I want people to know that but I always talk to candidates so that they're not ambushed by me We had a good conversation This is a national security interview Let me begin by saying you're going to the Nixon library on Friday And you're Belinda to give a speech about national security. Why did you pick my favorite presidential library? Well, I think it would commemorated my foreign policy vision Hugh I'm actually gonna really reorient our foreign policy away from the model of liberal hegemony Back to a model of actual I would say protection of the homeland a modern Monroe doctrine But a big part of my strategy is to pull Russia out of its military alliance with China Russia China together outmatched the US in every area of major competition Hypersonic missile capabilities ahead of that of the US a larger nuclear stockpile in Russia's case Naval capabilities in many ways that exceed ours in China's I know that's something we can debate but together they outmatched the US And so what I want to do is the reverse maneuver of what Nixon did in 1972 what did Nixon do he pulled Mao Zedong out of Bresin have led USSR's hands right now I believe Putin is like the new Mao. Did we trust Mao then? No, we did not should we trust Putin now? No, we do not but we can trust each of them not to actually follow their own self-interest And so that's how I plan to end the Ukraine war Do a deal that yes does give Putin concessions but in return for requiring Vladimir Putin to exit his military partnership with China and there are echoes of Nixon's diplomacy in 1972 that I thought the best place to do this was actually at the Nixon presidential library itself And so we'll be going into far greater depth Hugh But that just gives you a sense for why we chose that as the location to do it Well, we can go into great depth here because we're not rushed and I don't want to rush We're gonna play what we don't play on the air today tomorrow on the program so we don't have to rush I want to ask though You're you're going out to Nixon land in Yorba Linda as we approach the 50th anniversary of what I think is Richard Nixon's greatest foreign policy accomplishment The Yom Kippur war is that something with which you're familiar and how he acted there? I Am though that was not part of the inspiration for my actual going to the Nixon library was more the Reverse maneuver with respect to China. That's my case when Israel was on the ropes in 1973 Nixon said send everything that can fly We didn't have a treaty obligation to do so But he did and he saved them from the invasion by the Syrians the Jordanians and the Egyptians How is that different from sending everything that can fly not men not soldiers not women not Marines But weaponry is what Nixon sent to Israel in 73 50 years ago I gather you want to cut that off to Ukraine now if Putin will do a deal.

"So I would like to look into that. I would actually like to write a piece looking at the Navy Seals and why this is now kind of a gateway into politics and how it's working out, if it's working out for them. You know, it's interesting to me, Matt, it's not just Navy Seals, also special operators like Michael Waltz for whom my son works as a Green Beret. The special operators, the aviators, the Intel people, they all tend to have great skill sets that translate well into politics, especially discipline because politics is mostly about doing the same thing over and over again and staying on message. It's like when you sell a book, if you don't say filthy rich politicians seven times you're not selling the book. So you say, you just got to stay on message. That would be an interesting article. Let's stay on this one. So I am not concerned about wealthy people running. I'm not even concerned about super PAC. It's the first amendment. I don't like people getting rich in office. The shadiest guy ever was LBJ and you pass over him fairly quickly. His wife didn't bring the money in there. Those were the brothers who funded LBJ. He was the crookedest president we've ever had in my view, in terms of money. Well, I mean, I know he stole an election. I think that has been established. That's not even speculation. I think the Robert Caro book outlines how he literally stole a congressional election. So yeah, you probably knew more about him than I do but if he's willing to steal an election, he's probably willing to do a lot of other stuff to get rich on the way. Very crooked guy. But the only president who ever resigned is the one I know best, Richard Nixon. And he didn't resign because of money and he left the White House very, very poor. He had to actually do an interesting thing. Go ahead. I was gonna say one thing you might have already known about this Hugh, but I learned as I was writing the book, cause you know, we have a chapter on spreading the wealth around to families. And I talk about, you know, the Billy Carters and the Roger Clintons and all that. And I did not realize that Richard Nixon's brother, Donald Nixon, that Richard Nixon was worried that his brother was cashing in on the Nixon name. So Richard Nixon had his own brother wiretapped. Yeah, I don't know about the wiretap. That's actually news to me but I know that Donald did concern Richard. And you know, the Nixon family home, if you ever get out to Yorba Linda and you go see it, he came from nothing. Okay, he came from nothing. If you go up to the bedroom where the four brothers spent, it's smaller than my studio, the brothers slept head to toe in two beds, absolutely nothing. Went to Duke Law School, eating candy bars and living in the woods without heat and electricity cause he had no money. Couldn't go to Harvard cause he had no money. There are rags to riches story. What do you make of the news story? It's too late for your book about Justice Sotomayor making $3.7 million in book sales. Does that creep you out? A little bit, a little bit, right? The one story I saw was that her staff was kind of pressuring people to take the book or to sell the book. To me, that's the part that crosses the line. It's not Sotomayor writing the book. It's if the staff, because then it's sort of implicit like the Supreme Court Justice would really appreciate it if you were to sell this book or if you were to... So I think it's sort of trading on your position that you've been entrusted with to do something that's ultimately going to result in you becoming wealthy and you making more money. Now, as a matter of constitutional law, it's not illegal. I've had Stephen Breyer on the show when he was a member of the court selling books. I've had Clarence Thomas on selling his memoir. I've had Neil Gorsuch on selling his book on federalism. It's all very ethical. But if you shake people down to buy your book, it's Jim Wright land. I don't think she went there, but I don't know. I don't think the Alito and the Thomas stories on accepting gifts and trips bother me at all. What bothers me the most are people who get rich from stock trading on insider information. I mean, that is the one that just, I can't believe we allow that to happen. Because you know, in the executive branch, Matt, I was at OPM, I was in the White House Counsel's Office. You couldn't do that. You had to blind trust stuff. You could not get rich on making investments that way. But that's an executive branch rule. It's not a Congress rule. Let's talk about hypocrisy. Because you also talk about, well, let's do revolving door first. I'm not sure where I, you talk about Joe Crowley getting beat in Massachusetts, going to work for Squire Pat and Boggs, Aiken Gump. There isn't a law firm in town on K Street that doesn't have retired people working for it. Whether it's Billy Tozen or John Boehner of the Dean Martin wing of the Republican Party. And he's selling dope now.

"And I really have enjoyed my stay. But I must be movin' on. Like a king without a castle, like a queen without a throne. I'm a dirty mornin' lover. Hey there, folks, it's your Texas show. When you last tuned in, we were hearing about a crazy story about a man whose finger was cut off. And Dr. Che Ahn is here in the studio. You gotta tell us the rest of the story. So he shows up at church and he says to you, he has faith that his finger's gonna be healed. When he first came to me, he said, "'Pastor, I believe that God wants to heal my finger and grow my finger out.'" Now, if you don't mind my asking, how much of the finger was cut off? It was cut off just in the first knuckle, so we're talking about like an inch off. More than an inch, okay. Yeah, more than an inch. I'm horrified, please continue. And so two months later, he's- By the way, that's the second knuckle. Yeah, second knuckle, right. That's the big knuckle. Right, the big knuckle, right, exactly there. And so he stood in line to receive prayer like we do every Sunday after the service. But he had his hand behind his back and I totally have forgotten because it's been two months. And to be honest with you, I didn't think it was gonna grow out. Wait a minute, what had been two months? Well, when he cut off his finger, so he prayed for him the first time. He said, Pastor, I believe that God wants to grow out my finger. And I said, just more as a pastoral, just sensitivity, I said, if you believe God wants to grow your finger out, I'm gonna stand with you, Lewis, that your finger will grow out. Okay, so you prayed for him. I prayed, I just said, I command their finger grow out in Jesus' name, but I didn't really believe that it was gonna happen. Because fingers don't grow out, folks, let's face it. Okay, so he goes away for two months. Two months later, he comes back. Well, he was here at church, but here's what happened. He comes up to me and he said, Pastor, remember when you prayed for my finger two months ago? And I said, yeah, whatever happened? He said, it started to grow out, but it started to grow out very, very slowly. And so I decided to wait until it fully grew out before I showed you and he said, look, and he had a brand new finger, including a brand new finger now. And so I am freaking out and I said, wow. And again, it wasn't my faith. I think it was his faith, but it was God who gave him the grace and mercy. But here's a greater miracle. His daughter, Amber, was not saved when she cut off his finger. She was under so much condemnation, just thinking. Okay, so she's not a Christian. She's not a Christian. She was a teenager. She mistakenly cuts her father's finger off. Right, but when she saw. She was feeling a little guilty. Guilty, shame, condemned. But when she saw the finger grow out, she became a follower of Jesus and that's a greater miracle. And so that's how God will move to reach a teenager, a 16-year-old teenager. I have to ask you, Jay, because this is how my brain works, right? Doctors, I assume, would say that fingers that are cut off at the big knuckle do not grow back. Like that doesn't happen. Right. So did he take this to a doctor and show a doctor? Because it seems to me, if you don't do that, you're crazy. Well, this is kind of, you know. Right. Well, he did go to the doctor first initially to sew his finger back on, but the doctor said that's not gonna happen. We're just gonna sew you up and you're gonna have a stump for the rest of your life. But here's the thing. I don't know about what happened afterwards if he showed it to a doctor, but I have seen so many people get healed and when they go back to the doctors, the doctor's two responses, either they believe or they're absolutely incredulous and they say, well, we misdiagnosed. And we had a woman with acute leukemia get healed and the doctor wanted to put her on treatment immediately. And she said, I'd need to have my pastors pray for me on Sunday. She went to the doctor Friday. She said, I'll come and see you on Monday. And the doctor was upset because he wanted to admit her immediately on Friday when they did the blood test and found out she had leukemia. And by the way, she was a vice president of World Vision. And so we're talking about a well-respected woman, a very intelligent, just brilliant woman who, her background's marketing. But anyway, she goes to the doctor. She goes to Yorba Linda Hospital and they take tests after tests on Monday that cannot find any trace of leukemia, which is cancer of the blood. And they said, we must have misdiagnosed you. And that's their answer because it just doesn't have, they don't have the paradigm for it. But if God created the universe, how could he not create a figure to grow out? It seems logical, but I guess whoever it was who had his finger healed, I feel like he has a responsibility to go back to these doctors with the x-ray, whatever it is, just for the sake of the doctor, to say, I'd like you to see something. Because that's, you understand, this is crazy stuff. You know that, a finger to grow back. That does not happen. I've seen a lot of people with stumps that stuff doesn't grow back. Exactly. That is nuts. I love it. The thing that encourages me is that we have a lot of people who are amputees coming from the Middle East, Iraq, Afghanistan, that's, and if God could grow a finger, why not grow a back, an arm, or a leg? And so that's what I'm believing God for, that we're gonna see greater miracles in the years ahead. Oh, man. Oh, I love it. I wanna talk about your new book, Modern Day Apostles, operating in your apostolic office and anointing. Well now, what do you mean by that? When people say things like your apostolic office, a lot of people listening, they don't know what that means. Well, you know, the word apostle appears 82 times in the New Testament. And so the word apostle, apostle is plural 82 times, which is interesting because the word pastor, and by the way, we built our whole church government on the word pastor, that appears only one time in Ephesians 4.11, that it gave some to be apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors. Do you know what the Greek is for these? Because I'm Greek, but I don't know these terms. Yeah, it's poimen. It's poimen for pastor. Now, there are synonyms like episkopos, which is the word bishop or overseer, or presbyteros, which is the Greek word for elders. But even if you add those synonyms up, it's only 67 times. So whatever happened to the apostolic ministry? And so part of the confusion is that there are 12 apostles and they're called the apostles of the Lamb, and they will have a distinct place in the kingdom to come. So no one's gonna replace them. Okay, we're gonna go to a break. When we come back, we are talking to Che on AHN. The book is Modern-Day Apostles Don't Go Away. I might forget how to dream.

"All right, thanks for staying with us, everybody. As usual, we're going to go ahead and wind up this episode with our question of the day and mid wat segments. I had a pretty good response to the question from our last episode. If you recall, it referenced the most recent army navy star matches and I asked everybody the 6 wins over army this year, which one has been your most favorite. So remember we're talking about sprint football men's and women's cross country, men's golf and men's and women's soccer. It looks like the top vote getter was sprint football with 14 and then in second place you had men's soccer with 11 votes. After that, came women's soccer with four votes, and finally, men's cross country was a fourth sport picking up votes with a total of three. Now for the record I ended up going with men's soccer because it was such a convincing win number one. And it was also the first time that maybe had picked up the army navy cup since 2014. But I will tell you that it was a pretty close vote for me between men's soccer and men's golf, just because of the dramatic way that the men's golf team closed out that match with a sudden death. So that brings us to this episode's question of the day, and it's pretty similar to the last one except that it refers to the navy Notre-Dame series. So here it is. Besides 2007, which navy win over the Irish was the most memorable for you and why. And just to refresh your memory, the other three wins that navy picked up over Notre-Dame in the triple option era were in 2009 when they won 23 to 21 in South Bend. And then in 2010, they came through, I believe that that game was up in the metal lens. They won 35 to 17. And then most recently in 2016, and I believe that game was played down in Jacksonville, maybe one 28 to 27. So I'm going to go ahead and put this up on the navy sports nation group Facebook page later today, and I'll pin it to the top so you can find it pretty easily. Now, be sure to post a short comment saying why your pick was the most memorable and I'll read a couple of those on the air as well during the next episode. Okay, time to finish up with our mid watch segment. First, let's go ahead and check in with every stole from the volleyball team. She did have a couple of solid games against bucknell and Lehi, those were navy's last two wins. Against the bison, she registered 5 kills and three service aces. And then she followed that up with 8 more kills to go along with 5 blocks against the mountain hawks. For the season, still ranks first on a team with a 192 kills and she's got 24 service aces, which is good for third behind Jamie llywelyn and kami Herman. And then on the defensive side, the senior from Yorba Linda, California, is also third in blocks with 44 behind Maggie bodmin and Anna klee Meyer. So as we look into these last three games here, they're great opportunities for the team to keep working on any rough edges that they need to smooth out before the tournament starts. And if they can win a couple of those games, they may be able to improve on their tournament seating depending on what happens with the teams in front of them. And then finally for the men we are tracking ashwin Briggs from the men's cross country team. As I mentioned earlier in the podcast, he was the 5th and final navy runner that contributed to the team score to help the mids roll to that patriot league championship. The senior captain covered the 8 K course in 25 minutes and 21 seconds. And just to give you an idea of how good a job the team did finishing as a pack, there are only 15 seconds separating Briggs from the second place finisher Greg mathias. And it also looks like he'll barely have enough time to catch his breath before the indoor track season starts. I just checked out the calendar and the navy invitational is set for December 4th. Bridge is one of the top middle distance runners on the team and he mainly focuses on the 800 meters. In fact, he was the patriot league champion in that event back in 2020 as a sophomore. That's going to do it for this edition of navy sports central. Thank you all so much for joining us. Now, if you like what you've heard, make sure to follow us wherever you get your podcasts, and remember to spread the word to all the other navy fans out there. We have been getting a great response to our question of the day, so if you want to jump in on that, just go to the navy sports nation group Facebook page. And I'll go ahead and pin it to the top so you won't miss it. And just a quick reminder, the views expressed on navy sports central are my own and do not reflect those of the U.S. naval academy or navy athletics. Let it roll. Anyway, Let's turn our attention to something a little bit more serious. I want to thank one of our Katie lay viewers. Actually your goal in a high school student, Nathan Rue who sent us this video. A little bit of a somber moment yesterday in the evening hours in Yorba Linda, this was when, uh well, residents gathered, you know, for the past two weeks, 13 flags were placed on the corner of Village Centre driving Imperial Highway, all honoring the 13 servicemen that were killed in Afghanistan. Flags were respectfully taken down and folded is on left lookers paid their respects. So there are quite a few people that gathered. You can see quite a few cars that stopped there as well. But they also had somebody that was there, too. Tell them and teach them and show them how to properly fold the flag to pay their respects. But this was a beautiful memorial. That was there. If I have respect for our 13 servicemen, so I would do want to thank Nathan Rue. For sending in this video, and you know, we've had things like this all across Southern California, where communities have come together to pay respects, and it's nice, especially when you see the younger generation out there. And that's what I really like. Nathan is a senior in high school. You were in high school, so he stopped took the video sent it in. Thought It was important. So I do like seeing you know, obviously too sad, somber moment but respect Well deserved, but it's nice to see as I mentioned the younger generation realizing men and women out there paying the ultimate price for our freedom. "Crackdown from the communist in Beijing. With so much turmoil at home. This major event is barely a footnote in the newspapers of America. The Chinese Communist Party is on the move on the new administration best be wary. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo joined me on the Hugh Hewitt show. Let me ask you about President Biden. Do you expect him to stand up to the Chinese Communist Party or sit down because after he's financed by Hollywood and big tech, and they're compromised by the Chinese Communist Party I think the world and that includes the American people will continue to demand that the United States secure Uh, freedom before them on, then includes pushing back against the challenge of our time. That is the challenge of the Chinese Communist Party in its capacity and intention. You expand its influence and ultimately deliver. Ah, world that is very different, Well not governed by the rule of law by respect for sovereignty, all the things that the world has come to know. The post World War. Two environment. The Chinese Communist Party wants to upend with a very different theory of international relations, one dominated by the East one controlled in a way that won't create more security freedom, more prosperity. I am confident the American people demanded whoever. Is leading their country. President elect Biden included respond to that in a way that continues to make sure that America remains the country. It has asked for the last 240 plus years and that the world continue to operate under set of rules that are Based in human rights based in the law, based in respect for sovereignty that those air core principles the idea of reciprocity is important. And I think every American leader understands the necessity for that. Again going back to the Nixon library speech, You said, quote in Hollywood not too far from here as we were in Yorba Linda, the epicenter of American creative freedom and self appointed arbiters of social justice. Self censors, even the most mildly unfavorable reference to China. I'd like to expand on that Mr Secretary, the experience that this weekend you know, this era's version of Oliver Laurel is a guy named Seth Rogan. And after hitting me once he exploded in anger and vulgarity me on Twitter. When I invite him on this program to discuss the Chinese Communist Party, he replied, Quote My movies don't come out in China. Sidestepping the issue of Hollywood cow towing to Beijing, despite its repression of the Wickers despite Hong Kong is that changing has has Hollywood woken up, even if You know celebrities adopting disguise ignorance with invective. Is it changing in Hollywood? You have not seen that yet. The Capacity of the Chinese Communist Party to influence just Hollywood. But the me our media more broadly, whether that's through investment interests whether that's through Threats that they would have access to the markets in China. Whether that is simply people hanging out at the same cocktail parties. It is the case that we have permitted the Chinese Communist Party take in get inside of our schools, our research institutions. Uh, you spoke about our media in Hollywood. Those those are things that fundamentally present risk to the sovereignty of the United States America for decades, we turned the other cheek. We allow this to go on. I think just this President Trump has said. We've had enough That can't continue to happen, and the United States needs to do everything it can. The government needs to do everything it can to prevent that from continuing to happen. The most recent example. Feeding the Dragon is a book by a Hollywood executive Chris Fenton, and the most recent example of what he describes his cow towing is Tom Cruise, iconic Bomber jacket in top gun, too. Removed the Taiwan flag from it Now, is that insidious? Is that something we should ignore? Is that just silly comedians like Seth Rogan? Or is that a real problem? A flag on a jacket off standing alone. That's right. Okay, um, fine, but what it is is it is a bellwether. It's in an indicator. It is a signal for the depth capacity breath scope. That the levels to which the Chinese Communist Party will reach and in fact has reached to influence how Americans think about their own country. These efforts. He's influence operations are real. And the effort to undermine our institutions are central Western Democratic institutions. American Republicans real and we have to make sure that we do everything we can to call it out, identified when the American people become aware, but when they know L demand that not only government do the right thing. But there were a man that the demand that the people who sell them products to people who provide them services all behave in a way that is consistent with American national security. We have seen that throughout history before you I'm confident we'll see it again. I want to go. One more quote from the Nixon speech, Nixon library speech. You said Mr second date. We have to keep in mind that the Chinese Communist Party regime is a Marxist Leninist regime. General secretaries you Jinping is a true believer in a bankrupt totalitarian ideology. And about Reagan's old saw trust, but verify you said quote. I say we must distrust and verify. Do you think the incoming administration embraces this attitude towards the Chinese Communist Party? Only time will tell. I don't know the answer to that coming up..

"Of evacuated Irvine residents in the path of the Silverado fire are back home as firefighters increased containment to 40% evacuations are also over around your Belinda where the Blue Ridge fire is 30% contained. The Blue Ridge fire burning in the Yorba Linda area has charred 14,000, plus acres, destroyed one structure and damage. Seven others. Silverado Fire in the Irvine area has burned just under 14,000 acres. It didn't damage structures, but left two firefighters with 2nd and 3rd degree burns over half their

Silverado Fire: Two Firefighters Seriously Hurt, 7,000+ Acres Burned, Zero Containment, Los Angeles

"Well of course, story today is been the wind and eventually what came with the wind event some fires. The biggest of which is over four thousand acres burned in. Orange. County. They call it these Silverado fire it's in eastern Orange County and the area affected the most or some neighborhoods. In Irvine. They have had difficulty because of the winds using air support to help contain this fire. Burning out near Yorba Linda. But the tough news we got a couple of hours ago with regards to the Orange County fire near Irvine is at a COUPLA, firefighters were severely burned covering this for Kfi news is Corbin Carson with the latest on what's going on in Orange County forbidden from the looks on television the wind is still blowing very strongly. Yeah it picks up an in. It drops off I'm still over here at the O C Global Medical Center where those firefighters were were were abroad. But yes, as you mentioned all throughout the day, we have seen these really strong winds is knocking stuff all over the streets kicking down a flagpoles and you know campaign signs you name it it's just it's mates from for some really tough conditions in and as we've just heard that the Fire that started in Santiago Canyon. This morning is now to seventy, two hundred acres, and then the fire that I'm about to be headed to. Now that over near your Yorba Linda has grown to over a thousand acres. We're hearing that there's a possibly one structure burned. So I'm going to check that out right now, and we just recently also heard all the new evacuations for the area we got that update from division chief Shane sure would. Mandatory evacuation orders here in the city of Irvine, their impacting approximately ninety thousand, eight hundred residents. So all residents north of Irvine Boulevard from Jamboree to Bake Parkway. As well as from Irvine, boulevard south to Bianca, road from Jeffrey Road East to patrol high high school all under mandatory evacuations. Also the communities in the city of lake forest, Baker ranch and Foothill ranch are also under mandatory evacuations. So as you just heard ninety thousand people more than ninety, nine, thousand people affected by these new orders. So a lot of people being asked to move those people around those areas that are not specifically affected they are being told stay ready in case. The wind shifts or they are told some at some point to move and that people can check with their local areas too as to where to get the latest updates and make sure that they're ready to go if needed. But earlier as you also mentioned, we had a couple of firefighters this afternoon that were out there they were they were on the hand crews and one was twenty, six years old one was thirty one years old the the the hankers part of their. Clearing the line and making sure they're trying to get some kind of containment on these fires as they're moving as fast as they can, and unfortunately we heard from OC fire authority Brian Fantasy that two of them were severely burned. This afternoon here is him making bringing this tough news to US earlier one of the hardest things? Any fire chief can do is is to report. Out on one. One of the firefighter family members have been injured or. Or worse. This is. A tough for me. Tougher all my firefighters. And certainly for the families of my two injured firefighters. One of them, a twenty, six year old and one of them at thirty one year old. One has sixty five percent burns both second and third degree. The second has fifty percent. Both second and third degree burns, and so what we're hearing is currently the families are here with them at the OC global, medical center that both have been intimated and aren't able to speak and they are in critical condition. But again, as you guys in, we were talking about a couple of hours ago just these winds that have been going through this area. I. Was Talking to a meteorologist about what to expect earlier on this and he told me that Sandiego. Canyon is his right in this wind corridor of OC. In that, you know this morning he had seen and we've already heard gust close to one hundred miles per hour in different areas. He says, these wins did a complete one eighty from onshore to offshore all part of this massive system bringing snow from Canada to Mexico this week. So we're really expecting these winds where everyone's keeping an eye out and being ready to go of necessary. The
