I think we're in the top twenty five percent now with the players. We have talent wise. You know in the league. "Three year career at bell. Cow of austin college. I mean it seems like a leave of faith into project as the full jamal williams type pass catching role you know. We kind of know that they don't love running Aaron jones into the ground here so and not mention. Don't look legit good against tennessee. Last year. More than capable runner. So i think the under sixty nine hundred times. Good bet even though Aaron jones is still a strong player. So i think that have been more thirteen to fourteen carry rich connor giving us a bunch of amazing props coming up for this week in week number one in the national football league what say side or sides that you really like like sides that you'll be betting in week one so i took a good chunk of Jaguars student i get that. you know. it's it's a little bit of a tough match in terms of going. You know it's it's Charter lawrence's first game urban meyer's and there's a lot of those kind of affect when you look at it from a roster standpoint. I mean the. Jags are just a lot better than the taxes. And i think that everyone is better than the texans so i guess not saying much. They're probably gonna roll out to rob taylor And you know they basically just traded away their best player and bradley roby wasn't gonna play anyways Week one hundred player. Branding cooks I mean that's pretty sad. All things considered Just the mismatches. In general jaguars all the divine rejected. The average trevor lawrence I think is a very good player. And i don't think that's too much hot. There should be transcendent for this franchise. I sort of pizza. That and also took a piece of The see what's on the board here. Ravens i like minus four Against the raiders. The biggest mismatch there ravens number one in rushing. epa last season the The ravens rumor rushing the raiders. Were dead laugh and they added yonathan gok right. He's actually been really. Jimmy batted run by fire career A good passer but not gonna add in the run department and we know that the ravens are going to run the ball So i really think that the dominant on the ground against this raiders. Game and normally i don't like gives us from rushing standpoint but i think when you know the ravens saying what they like to do and kind of holiday succeed and win as a team. I think that it's a pretty solid handicap their designers and move. It seems like you know like i. I'm sure that there are plenty of people betting the ravens. But i'm still on it. I still think that they are far superior game here. Connor about two to three minutes left here in nikkan. I've talked about this a little bit already. The idea of seems like many valuable teaser. Legs on the board for this week. And we're seeing some lines starting to move. But really you know those those favorites that are slightly over a touchdown and you go through three and seven those dogs that are one to two and a half points teasing them up. Do you find yourself playing teasers. Usually in week one. Are there teaser..

"Episodes of work in progress every sunday. Only on showtime. I will take the second letter anytime. I start talking about my family of origin. It's time to hustle is lonely island. I'm healthy woman in my forties with teenage daughter and a husband of fifteen years. I have a fulltime job. That's pretty good. I have benefits flexibility chance to telecommute. It's almost a funny. I even owned my house on an island. But if i myself crying whenever nobody can see me kind of crime that makes you shake and that's impossible to stop. I also have intrusive suicidal thoughts regularly. I've been to therapy numerous times both because experience child sexual abuse. And because they relied on self-medication slash substance abuse in the past. So is my partner for me. The substance abuse is over for him. At least right. Now it isn't he relapsed during the pandemic. i've come to a basic acceptance that he'll get clean when he's ready. I still love him. Although he's mostly unavailable emotionally and financially. I try to protect our daughter as much as i can. He's not allowed to use at home. Our is mostly joy. Even though parenting can be a lot sometimes and she's also just starting. Adhd medication. i guess. This last year has been a lot of a lot if that makes sense. My deepest sadness seems to be about friends here in my hometown. I feel like. I could handle my problems better if i had closer friends. Many lifelong friends have moved back to the island which should be great but the line seemed to have been redrawn. Mostly my friends were child free by choice and they go boating beaching dinner partying together. I'm rarely invited. I have occasional contact with them but not enough. I know i should make other friendships. But how i live on an island of fewer than a thousand people. I own a home here. That i can afford if i sold. I'd never be able to buy anywhere else. This is where makes than family is. So i don't feel. I can leave my home husband island or family. How then they re integrate myself within the group and if these friends don't want me around now why even try. I feel like winding to them. Why don't you like me anymore. am i boring. I could be fun. I feel so stock so lonely and also being a big baby about this. So i just need. Sr is Well i do just want to Throw it out there real quick that no one just needs us. Our is so I take one myself I find them to be incredibly helpful for libraries and also they are not Just what everyone needs and they're not the only thing that you need. So i just i just wanted to. I say that. Because i feel like that's the only question that's like the main question that's been asked right the andrey and i'm like yeah but there's so much else. There's a lot going on here. Pray and i think especially because the letter writer mentions that she has intrusive suicidal thoughts. you know. Sri's depending upon the sri and how it interacts with your own particular Mental health issues. That that's the place to tread carefully and to try to find a doctor and or a psychiatrist who can really carefully and personally work with you. Because in some instances certain. Sri medications can exacerbate suicidal thoughts. Not yonathan and not always but It's definitely something to be aware of how that was the thing. I sort of wanted to address before we get into some of the other issues just because interest suicidal thoughts can get pretty hairy pretty quickly. That's definitely something. I would encourage the letter writer to talk to a doctor and therapist and orient kaya trust urgently if she hasn't done so already. Absolutely if none of those things are or feel immediately available to start with the national suicide hotline that that would be my first point of order if that makes sense. Yeah yeah. I think that makes alive. Sense I just think there's so much In this letter there's so much going on there's so much jumping out at me You know yeah. I mean from a safety standpoint from a an urgent standpoint i totally echo at danny just said you know you have to look out for your safety you know intrusive suicidal thoughts are so so challenging to manage. You know ally people experience them. They are absolutely nothing to be ashamed of there. Like i think way more common than people think that they are and they can also be really really scary and really overwhelming and combined with all the other things that you are dealing with right now Really just want you to feel like you have someone to talk to you that you have someone who's looking out for your immediate medical and mental wellbeing and safety. Yeah see how the national suicide hotline is really You know it's a great resource in a pinch. I also just want you know for resources. Sake you know if you are not I would say an immediate crisis but you really want to talk to someone on particularly someone who has lived experience with mental health concerns Nami has a directory online of a warm line which is Similar.

"Of ego in play. A lot of pride. And i understand why it matters so much to all these guys. But they shouldn't spend their time worry about that. Just play the game and we know when you watch who the best of the best are to. Kate needs to change the scale in ninety six. What kevin durant is than it should be zero to ninety six. There's nothing better than kevin durant. Where yonathan cuco or steph curry lebron james in the nba. So why even have anything above that if you're not going to give it out As for unique i. You're at least eighty six. Excuse me eighty-seven he's talking about the beards specifically himself that little edge only we also right like we were talking about whether or not players should care about this. This is just become a part of mba culture right and these guys are so tuned to that and to paying attention to that and it goes back to in that katy draymond interview that roots released yesterday. Part of what they were talking about not nba two k. Specifically was about pride was about egos was about when you get these guys into a room. Sometimes that's when things get a little bit bigger than you might think they would be. This is another one of those cases. It's something that's out there. Trae young. I don't know anything about two k. Ratings but i was a little bit surprised him in zion who had the exact same rating. So this is a. It's a subjective. Subjective scale one of the gamers who is on our staff. Inform me the ratings. Actually go up now as the season goes on an updated through the internet. I i sound like a really old dude claiming that but yeah so it does change. Everybody's always looking for motivation. It reminds me of steph reading tweets at halftime to pump himself up got. Everybody needs somewhere. And with these two k. Ratings get better but taking a look at the women's top rated players wnba finals mvp. Brianna stewart leads the way with a ninety five overall rating. Nba two k. Twenty twenty to cover athlete. Candace parker is the fourth highest rated player with a ninety three over all through. Dave should the cover athlete. The automatically be the highest rated player. This is the peyton hillis rule the nfl madden the running back on the cover. I mean he certainly wasn't better than half the nfl at that point. So it's a great honor for kansas. She's mendes she's gonna do a great job in chicago. But i think ninety three just five for absolutely well it's been. It's exciting to see that she was the first woman on this cover. She said she wanted to change the game women and she is certainly doing.

"Thank you for doing this. Yeah thanks for asking me. This is cool. Good timing on a book way. We were talking before before he jumped on this. She wrote a book about jaanus. It was due on march the first and she turned it in only for you honestly then go win the nba title fortuitous publishing of course adulation and now my friends think i'm a witch so well we should start there without introduction. I hope that they air all of that. Because if you're not familiar with her work. She writes about people who happen to play sports. But she's interested in telling human stories and her new book janas the improbable rise of an nba. Mvp is out august tenth. Thank you for joining us. What would you say were the things that you learned that you did not know that you found most interesting about a guy that i don't feel like we know very well i feel like we've just got some superficial glances about him being humble and being some of the things that people like about athletes. But you've got the entire biography. The entire journey. Yeah well first. thanks for having me I feel like the entire childhood. Section is stuff that i didn't know you know and that was the gold. Her it was like. How can i bridge the gap between sold trinkets on the street and becomes an nba and leap e. We really don't know too much in between. Where did he sell trinkets. How did he sell trinkets. Who bought it. What kind of food would they eat like. There were just thousands of questions that i had. And what i found was that yes. There are feel-good elements that a lot of people have picked up. You know it's called a fairytale but there are also people that were not kind to him at all. There was so much racism that he dealt with and being undocumented as a black child of migrants was very very hard And i think that gets swept under the rug with janas because people love to talk about his ascension And then finally just there was joy you know a lot of times us in media. We write about the trauma of athletes. And we don't talk about the the good times and the happy times they had but he had a lot of joy because for him. His childhood was normal. You know it wasn't this sob story. All the time. He had a lot of fund so it was really interesting for me to see that childhood part of his life. What are the things that you say. From his childhood or most responsible for shaping who he is as an adult i think first of all it was observing jaanus zaveri intellectual and curious person and is because he would always watch what is parents did so when his mom would work fourteen hour days and come home tired but have this giant smile on her face he could intuit that she was not happy but she was trying to be so that he would have happy memories and she would force yourself to wash her example their socks the each only had one pair and he watches that and he's like that is work ethic. You know nobody has to tell him work hard. He learns it from watching He learns it from seeing that his dad is sitting there smiling even though he's hungry and hasn't eaten in two days because his dad wants to you know give the portion to yonathan his brothers and then i think finally janas is thirteen years old feeling like the man of his brothers. He is watching where his younger brothers go and always having to be careful. When you don't go there or you know oh you can have my food. He almost has to mature so much more quickly than other other boys. What were the hard parts about the transition to america. That was one of the most interesting things i found. So i think if you all remember twenty thirteen fourteen when he's a rookie. Everyone's falling in love with right. He's drinking smoothies. We're all like well. Who is a doorbell greek it. He was deeply deeply lonely and alex. The youngest brother was telling me that janas almost like the nba. He was telling alex in the family. Like if you guys can't come here to america. i'm coming home. So for backstory jaanus and his brother thanassis got citizenship at the last minute by the greek government because unlike in america greece doesn't give you birthright citizenship. Even if you're born there. So once the greek government saw that janas was about to go to the nba. They gave him his papers but they didn't give it to his mom. They didn't give it to his dad and they didn't give it to the younger brothers so they got their visas denied two times. I've found in my reporting while jaanus made it to the nba and it was doubtful whether they were going to be able to move to. America and honest is somebody that so used to sleeping side by side with his brothers. You know being around his family every second and without them he just felt lost. You know he was trying to do well on the court. Milwaukee was terrible. They won fifteen games that year but he was just so so lonely without his family. Why is he so hard on himself. he's so hard on himself because he knows that the chances that people get are so slim there was one moment where he and his brothers had a chance to move up to a better division in greece because they were in the lowest division which is called a two but at the end of the year. If you win your last game you can leapfrog to the top one. And had they leapfrog. They would've gotten money. They would have gotten shoes. They would've would've changed her family's life and They lost and so moments like that where they're all sitting together after this game and just crying watching opportunity slip from their fingers and they realize that the chances that people get do not come off and when they come you have to you have to get them or else you never know when they'll come again so janas grew up with the sense of being so hard on himself dealing with factors that he can't control And there's also a burning desire and him to be great. He has always wanted to be great like he comes to america. Milwaukee doesn't even know how to weightlift but he wants to become the best weightlifter on the milwaukee bucks so imagine learning to bench press for the first time. And you're already thinking about..

"Energy to yonathan. That wasn't energy. my friend was something else. That's legal in. Milwaukee no was i think the free throws again. It just speaks to the guys mentality. he struggled early in the playoffs throughout the playoffs he had embarrassing free-throw moments like embarrassing like airballs complete bricks just looked just looked bad up there at times but again to janas credit it never affected his game in the sense that he stayed in attack mode. He stayed understanding that his best of came in transition. He attacked the trees. Guys like a clint cappella guys like the entree eight. T just kept going at them no matter what and he was rewarded with by that with improving free throw shooting as the series progress on specifically at home where he was just exponentially better at the free throw line and i do think it's important what he was doing on a defensive end too because they shut phoenix down defensively. I can remember the first two games of the series where we were talking about. The phoenix three level scoring was making them. Tough to beat right. Tough the guarded giannis whether be guarding paul and booker out on switches state of swat swatting eight and shit. One on one like a lot of chase down blocks everything. He had everything working on defense. He looked like a defensive player of the year. Type guy is. I mean you know you can't you just can't discount any of the things that he did tonight. He was unreal. I've been pretty resistant of the shack. Comparison that's been floating around with the honest. Just 'cause they don't attack in the same way you know it's it's like evaluating players bhai the endpoint of their shot versus the process of their shell. Like jaanus does not play like shack. Doesn't have a lot in common with honestly except they both score a lot around the rim. Except i think at this point we can safely say. No one knows what to do with this guy when he plays like this and you can see that just by much. They have to foul him by how much they have to hack and try weird things just to take away anything that he can do. I e even aidan just looks like he was totally in his head at this point in terms of what he needed to do where he needed to be. We saw him on a yang pump. Fake on threes in the first half Those why do. I can't find clear evidence that a guy is just completely out of his mind in terms of what am i supposed to do like. What am i supposed to take away from this person. How defenders look within shack was in the post is how defenders lok when janas has a head of steam going and transition. That's what is we have a question from alex. Fear which sounds like my alter ego my. How much does this finals. Performance rise janas stock among the superstar tier of players as he ascended to the level of multiple times superstar. Champions like lebron katie steph. And i know like in the aftermath of winning a title. We often get recently by. Put that player who wanted and leather team to the title to the top of the stack of their now. The best player in the league right. But i have to say. I saw this stat going into the game. Which is very very convincing to me. That hamas has a good case for this If you had won the end the finals. Mvp which he did unanimously by the way He'll join michael jordan as the only players in nba history to win mvp defensive player of the year finals mvp in all star game mvp in their kyle. That's pretty him in my. That's that's pretty frequent. Need and you know. I think the thing about superstars in how we sort of measure them in grade them. I think all we ever wanna see guys do is perform the way that we know. They're capable of performing in the most difficult circumstances possible which happens to be the postseason round by round team by team. The challenges get bigger and bigger and harder and harder. And that's the point of winning a championship is that you prove that every single challenge gets met and your team is victorious because of your greatness. There's no of the way to state it like they. They beat the hawks. Well johnson getting hurt at the end of that series but he was great in that series. Right he was the one that put them position to do that. Brooklyn the same thing. He struggled very early on in that series. But he got better and he was great and against phoenix. He comes back from again like when. I'm watching this championship. Dvd like that. You the dab vhf yon lee benz backwards and it's like they're going to change the music.

"It's not that he was hurt. I i just want you to admit that. I don't care what the reason is. Just don't say oh. We heard off tonight. He didn't play well tonight tom. Tom don't don't box great. While you're you're putting on. Chris paul that they lost series lower than twenty six points. But zach. zach that to answer your point. How they didn't garden tonight. I'll it wasn't on them at all and he still was thrown a ball around and making bad decisions and things like that. I still think he's hurt. I still think that risk isn't right. I still think that impacted him. This is the game where he picked it out. You know what. Maybe i need to shoot a little bit more than passing but every time we try to pass it or try to do something with it. Didn't it didn't work out well for him. So i'm sticking with chris paul got her dire sars made the sons go small which made the bucks play more small ball which made yonathan a couple play more like you should have been as opposed as a wing and also puckett. I got it wrong bad once every five years. I'm allowed to get it wrong. Is that right. That'll get a wrong. Got a pretty spectacularly wrong. Poppy what do you think about what he's saying. There that chris paul played a bad game. Well everybody knows. Increase police choker. I mean i mean everybody knows that now. He made until the finals of the fifty five years of planning into the nba improvement for him relaxed and he can tell his kids they. You know. i'm a hero. Now you know after fifty five years of planning the nba finals train losses. Point is you gotta make it to the final so he made it to the final. Let's let my father go to sleep here so it's very late at night. Thank you talk gentlest. Nice talking to you guys. I registered mike ryan. You see that. I put this on you. I'm not the one who called this. The worst finals ever. I never did that you did. I did and i immediately on the next show. I retract it but the internet's forever. I said it was just the least interesting finals in my lifetime. I'm a little hold true to that. I still don't think it was that interesting. And i think i think these teams look. It was weird. Mba's ultimately milwaukee's there at the end. But they got lucky. And i'm not gonna say. Milwaukee was most lucky that they ran into another team. That hadn't been there either. Because i got pretty lucky in that net series. Those were massive injuries in that series was clearly headed in a different direction and then game seven they also got lucky but we talk about this first half which was some of the warriors basketball scene on this stage like those weren't performances that were worthy of an elimination game if they ran into plop spurs in the showers by halftime. I think they kind of got lucky that they ran into each other here in the finals. They gotta change ship are the more like the raptors in the mavs or is this the beginning of something else because they have someone committed to the city. We'll see mike. I'm not. I'm not gonna let you sit alone on that island. It wasn't entertainment right like it wasn't what book game one blowout came to blow up game. Three blowout gave poor sloppy as game. Gave five awesome game six sloppy game. It wasn't overall at entertaining series. And i think mike. Mike said something in a group chat where he said..

What's on the Line for Chris Paul's Legacy?

"You know this. This series started out very well for the sun's up to all look like they were going to go from bubble darlings to title team in a year. I don't have to refresh your memory. it's you remember that probably yonathan. The vox i've turned upside down and for c. p. three it might mean coming up short one more time in the playoffs. Not grade list to be on here c. p. threes teams have had multi game series leads four times in the post season. Only to watch those leads. Slip away. Chris broussard what is on the line night in game. Six for chris paul. There's a lot on the line and obviously the championship but for him personally of is individual legacy yes. There is a lot on the line he would become. If they lose this series he would become the only player to lose four series in the postseason. Where you lead to. Oh okay anna. Point guard is in control of the game of his team. So a lot of that just falls on the coach. It can fall on the point guard. So we've talked about some christmas failures in the past and the postseason if he loses this series those become their a big part of his story. And when you talk about why he's one of the greatest players with barkley malone and you eat in stockton to never win a championship you look at. It and chris is a big part of why he didn't win the championship. Conversely if he can come back and win this series. Those playoff foibles. Become a footnote okay. They go from being a year. He's great but to just be enough small footnote in his overall story. So that is the first thing. Secondly if he wins this series he could become the third player. Only the third player in the seventy four year. History the third small player or normal size point guard to lead a team to an nba title.

"Let go round the hard simone that day you the best one. No matter what language it is beautiful data please. He's had last game and still not have won the final committee for all those screams and hollers ed to to shoot. That was for the holidays bill but there was a lot of went down the end. the game. the has this to this place where milwaukee's one game away from the tunnel. Phoenix is gotta just be standing there looking at their to lead badische thinking. How could this happen. Here's out drew. Holidays ramona shelburne around the horn to you. Who's the biggest folks hero from game. Five through holiday. We look this guy was four for twenty one game for shooting. Thirty three percent for the series going into game for him to put up twenty seven and thirteen assists with a bucks. They scored thirty one points off those. That's a total of fifty one points. Total they have been he he to me is the bellwether for them and for him to have that kind of an offensive game where he that aggressive and that productive but also be able to defend devon booker and chris paul. They're shooting twenty-seven percent when drew holiday contessa shot. That's good defense. And so that that lasts play with steel is emblematic of what he did in this game. But i think for him to have that kind of a game. Really put milwaukee position. It hasn't been in cowlishaw. I may get outvoted here. But i gotta go with chris because he had the forty point game huge for you the huge night there in when they even the series and a lot of times in the regular season. We've seen him have big games and not necessarily followed them up and there have been questions about whether he's a really number two on a great team he comes back with twenty nine more hits big. Three's hits shots with guys in his face and the really. The difference in the series for me is that yonathan booker booker except for one game. They're scoring every night but phoenix doesn't have a number to score. The way middleton is delivering for the box looking over monica mcnutt at what i would call the face. You're making it. Caches arguments. nonplussed might be so. Please go ahead middleton casher. I mean we know that he's capable of these performances. We think back to the thirty eight point outburst in the brooklyn series but holiday is easily the guy that's been most impressive. His offensive production has been the biggest question mark. When you look at the big three not only did he have all of those assists but in that second quarter particular when they've scored forty three points. He this scored on twenty seven of those and he's playing on both sides of the ball. That was an outstanding game for holiday. All right so that's to holiday and one for middle. The nobody's even mentioned the word of the name. Jaanus as far as the hero for the bugs with shocking. Frank is sold. It are here. Go ahead honestly was great but it was halladay. He was on believable. The way that he played on that steel in the alleyoop dunk. The the law passed. Remember tony if you go back to two straight postseasons. It was eric bledsoe. Who played well but not good enough. They built they wanted to make an upgrade. They went out and got your holiday and they invested a lot to get basically mortgage future for moments like this and at times in the net series. You thought maybe the name on the back of the jersey still said bledsoe getting game seven in the fourth quarter against kill. He was big time and in that game the other night the steel and the law passed in the moment of two jrue holiday came through with flying colors. Maybe we'll have a sixty thirty game coming up and having to himself in order for you to give him as hero from the walkie. This stuns me ramona. Can i ask you about it from the phoenix perspective. Because there are stats going around about chris paul how should he lose his theory. He'd sets the nba record most time slowing to lead in the series. Which.

"Three times as good there. You go but interest super cool. So you're saying yonathan say you were was the back story. Enter all that stuff. Gosh yeah i mean first off. I've done a couple of months in the past but never at the scale of intra and similar to will talking about before and how. I was talking a little bit about how looked on two feet in front of me and i focused early art with inter l. Ma and it was pretty early on and we were using robot. Oh for the. Ui high-density displace was not as popular. But it was pretty clear. It was becoming the standard. But it wasn't yet the you i think mobile is as very skewed towards speed utilitarian being sort of Getting out of your way and having as much information in those possible without being intimidating we wanted it to be virtual so one fall out of those constraints where a fairly like small. Ui fons eleven dips specifically and rebuttal is like this amazing titus right and it is as far as i know the sign to work at a variety of different applications and sizes and we were struggling a little bit with the legibility of and some of our early users to were. This is i product a person's operatic for a while and getting feedback from my colleagues trying out sort of on a you know a fork build figment stuff. "Eight run okay. Why was brook. Lopez the worst plus minus because he did not play in the fourth quarter when they did make a run he is the week. Goodbye is not the weakest link. The point is that chris. Paul went chris. Paul crazy in the third quarter and the game was virtually over because they extended the lead to twenty points. Yes and then the bucks made a very misleading run order that got it all the way down to seven. But if they're going to hang their hat on that if they're going to try to play small with jaanus at the five they are going to get beaten worse than they last night. Yeah okay. so here's my point. Big picture i i guess this with jaanus i gave them a sorry without jaanus. I gave them a chance to steal game one and at least make it a competitive series with janas at eighty five percent last night instill creeping up towards one hundred percent in the next four games. I believe that the sun's going to sweep and the point is that should milwaukee win one of those two games at milwaukee which they've been doing fairly consistently through these playoffs. Yes they should. But i believe that if you look at what really happened last night. Devon booker shot one of eight from three jae crowder shot. Oh five from three. The phoenix suns got out shot from three. The phoenix suns. Got out rebounded last night by the visiting team and despite all that they won by thirteen points and it was never really close. So what does that tell you. That will happen in game two and then game three and then game. Four phoenix is just better than them. And i don't like the body language and the chemistry and the unity and the eye test of the box with yonathan there and again he's flamed out again and again and again and big playoff series. They had three and four games where they've just blown all apart because they get to y- honest dependent. Do you remember what happened in the bubble last year. What happened in the first three games against miami he. He went missing because he his shooting from the field fails. He shoots more and more shots. And his percentage he'll he'll make sixty percent during the regular season and then it falls to forty percent then his free throws sometimes he'll make seventy percent during the regular season. And then you get in the post and his free throws will fall to forty percent. Well you can't win that way when when he's taking more and more shots because the onus is on him as the two time. Mvp to to take you home. To save the day so healt- he will take more and more shots and he'll miss more and more shots and he'll get to the free throw line more and more and he'll shoot forty five percents even if he takes more and more shots janas is going to be. Up to percent because the majority of his shots go be layoffs. Or don't so going to be in the high percentile but what you cannot have happened. The big three cannot get outscored by twenty two. Okay that cannot happen holiday now. Milton caught fire the second half. He got off to a sluggish start. Let's get remember the first game against atlanta yet fifteen points. Last night he had twenty nine. So that's encouraging but holiday. His field goal percentage has been terrible for the most part throughout these playoffs. He needs to play better. Get we gave the benefit enough like guard carry. So that's that's a tall task or he's trying to guard trae young. That's tall task bra. Okay if you're going to guard these guys you k let chris paul get thirty two or you can't let book get twenty seven and you can't let you'll get bored eight. You got to do something or you got also at that by scoring yourself okay. So i'm just going to remind you what happened in twenty nineteen. It was breakthrough in toronto one ring and in the conference finals against those raptors. The bucks lost four straight games. They won the first two and then they lost four straight and those four losses. Jaanus made only forty four percent of his shots after he'd been the mvp making fifty eight percent during the regular season in those four losses. Yana shot forty seven percent from the free throw line after during the regular season when he was shot seventy three percent right they build a wall right. He doesn't have mid range game. He flames out right. He's not that guy he's not alpha he's not takeover he. He has superstar ability without superstar. Intangibles so i think this is going to go from bad to worse. And i think phoenix can play better because phoenix can shoot better from three than they had last night. And if they start making more threes especially devon booker which he will then all of a sudden. This is going to get worse and worse. I didn't like the way they started. I don't like the match up of taking holiday and putting him on book take holiday and put him on chris. Paul take middleton and put him on book. because i don't i don't i don't like tucker the good defender. But he needs a big body to bang on not a little quick fast with is not like c. p. three has the fastest twits at his age. But i'm saying he's quick quicker than took and he's able to get whatever shot that he won't that's not the match up. That's not how i would have done it now. i'm going to be. It's gonna be interesting to see the adjustments that they're going to make. Are you going to start that again. You're gonna start took out on c. p. Three holiday take book. I was flipping around output holiday on c. p. three i would take middleton and guard and guard devon booker i understand. You don't wanna fatigue them. But you can't let ep three get gored. Because once he gets going. He turned out in the closeout. Chris and getting one. You think they're gonna shut him down in game two. I don't well you gotta do this. You can't give you gave them a study. Died of one thing. And that was his favourite dish. So you let you let him get to the picket role leading the to his right hand he elevated now take something away with janas back on defense. I saw lifeless. I saw no in low energy. I i no desperation that i saw in games. Five and six against the hawks. And i know trade in play in five. Did play in sit right. And they played their tails off on perimeter. Defense on all of margaret herder. Anybody cam reddish. Whoever else was in the game they played first team. All defense defense but a lot of those guys bogdonovich really wanna shoot three unheard of wants to hang out. Devon booker is trying to get to the paint. He's trying to get to the mid range and he's putting pressure skit last night. Eli i'm going to the bucket file file file so like you said he didn't shoot the ball when he was eight or twenty one but he's ten of ten from the free. Throw line that that you can live with that. So how do you talk about. The toronto built the wall but the laws are really not building the wall for they're eight and to take him straight up because they're about the same size nines a little bigger man obviously but he's like look and if i may if our money. We don't tell them how to use the brian bed. Why you hugging up. Because i'll try to try to hear thank you and get to the rim dunking but i feel good about my my selection which is six. Yeah okay so you're going to have to get the bucks. A couple of wins the book. I i'm going to be shocked if the both don't win. Two games home really so you think games. Three and four. They'll get one and then they probably.

"Harping. The all star game is just about a week away and back less than a week away but major league. Baseball all-star week kicks off in denver on friday. Eight thirty seven thirteen ten. Kfi a thirteen ten kfi a dot com northern colorado's voice mornings with gail from the auto collision specialist june Studios joined this morning by ed henderson. Koa rockies insider and veteran major league baseball scouts. And i'll bet you're just you're just looking forward to it as much as we all are instead no doubt about it. Gail it's You know i have to say. And we've we've talked about this both on the air and off the air. I think you know the the situation with atlanta all politics and everything that went into ended that decision to move this game denver notwithstanding. I'll tell you what it's baseball is baseball and a high level and i'm really looking forward to it. It should be fun. Your first all star game that you attended. If i'm not mistaken it was in denver right. Absolutely you're exactly right. It was In july of Nineteen ninety eight and so here. We are just a mere twenty twenty three years later. Whatever the heck. It is thirty. Three years later i do the math. I don't know gail but it but here we are again and Yeah twenty three years after the first one i'm back here for for round two and You know. I have to say joined the one at ninety eight very much. It was a lot of fun. The the events were fun. Just the excitement it brings to the city into the region is fun you know and i. I'm going to be curious to see the comparison with this year because obviously one a city gets an event like this they typically. Have you know eighteen to thirty six months to prepare for it and denver in the region. Had what a little less than ninety days. I think to To get rolling on this and so it's gonna be interesting to see you know the comparisons the contrast with what are called from from nineteen ninety eight but nonetheless. Whatever it is it's gonna be fun. They've got a lot of events planned many of which You know folks who may be aren't going to the game can still attend like play ball events that are going to be going on at the colorado convention center at some of the other ancillary events. That'll be taking place around the area as well. And maybe that Quick ramp up to the all star game taking place in denver in two thousand and twenty one. Maybe that explains why. The jerseys are so hideous. Yeah i i'm not sure who designed those but You know i it. It's almost a It was either. Peter max or jim morrison or maybe a combination of both but I i don't know i. They are very unique I personally don't care for them that much but somebody out there may like those uniforms. But don't put me in that category. I you know. I always look at the game gale and and i say the game. I'm talking about baseball. In general it's gone on really well for like a century and a half. You know we don't need to tinker with it a whole lot. I don't think You know there was anything at all wrong with those previous all star game jerseys and You know i mean it would seem to me that the world has plenty that needs to be worked on right now. All star game jerseys. I think might not even make the top one thousand list. I agree with you. There's a little bit of gal d in those jerseys not Yeah i i've seen them. And i'm like didn't i see this in a star trek episode. One time but of psychedelic all right. So what do you think of the all star game rosters. Who who are you excited about being on there and who got shunned. well. I think each team gets to nominate you know designate one guy and certainly some teams that have huge followings huge regional followings tend to have more players on their than others the rockies have one in You know erm on mark is but you know that's not to say that you know there aren't going to be rockies people and rockies personnel You know and and local colorado people that will be participating in the events. You've got trevor story. Of course who will be in the home run derby And then two guys. That i know very well one in particular Local high school guys that Scouted back in the day that have now gone on to have really nice. Major league careers. kevin gosper with the san francisco giants and mark milan-san with the San diego padres. On what you know These are guys that They deserve to be there. And and i would. I like to see more rockies on the in the game absolutely i think you could make a case for two or three guys anyway. raimondo top. Yeah i think has had a really good year. So far i think There's there's other guys on the team. That from time to time i think have shown that. Yeah this is a guy that Yonathan daza is a guy that i think fans have grown to enjoy watching play baseball over the last few months he probably was a guy that should you know been given greater consideration but again i think gail it boils down to something that you know. We all know and that is that the more popular player is the more well known player is the more likely they are to be selected so even though these guys have put up some at time some definitely all started deserving performances in the first half of the year generally speaking the more recognized. Names are guys that get selected. So i'm sure there's people feeling slighted and You know it. It's one of those things where there's no perfect way to do. It think there's any possibility there's some scuttle but Floating around the term marquez might actually start the game you know. I've heard that I think It's it's something where i think certainly with the way he has pitched in the first part of this season and the way he's pitched historically over the last couple of years certainly deserves the not if if they'll give it to them i i don't know it. It may get determined otherwise but I think whatever point he enters the game he's gonna get a nice welcome from the folks at coors field no doubt about it and a guy that on a national level deserves very legitimately to be playing in this game and I and i hope shines up and just does really well and in front of that international audience video be pitching in front of next week. It's going to be incredible. So what are you looking forward to again. Is all the festivities kick.

"How about. This is a young guy. He loves telling everyone how much chris paul bitched at him. All season i wanted a bunch of piece. There's other millennials going. Hey relax right. She don't let this catch. I know he's here's old. I was just trying to throw a phrase. Yeah whatever the generation bite here aiden so eight finish tonight with twenty two in nineteen. Who's eight for ten. It's just every game. He does get in foul trouble at you. Make seventy to eighty percent of his shots and grabs fifteen to twenty rebounds and this is just. I guess we is though and i kept thinking like okay. They have to match janas minutes with eight and all the time like any minute because when it was the sarge minutes were happening on like oh whoa and then it. It wasn't really. I don't know how many minutes janas was on. Eight was off because eight and came out of the start of the fourth and he had played thirty one minutes and yonathan only played twenty five so janas play like six minutes so bugged yukata. You played thirty nine. Yeah he's just going to. He's going to be out there. I would imagine to match on almost all the time. And and look. It's weird as this game. Was it got to seven with a ton of time left. Milwaukee started hitting threes. The small lineup was better. And i wanna finish the small lineup. Thought here because i do think think this is important because game one against atlanta lopez looked unplayable after game one. But we've learned this before okay. The one of the many lessons the playoffs teaches here. Is that gives game one. Happened doesn't mean game. Twos gonna look just like game all right and just because somebody looks terrible in a match up more often than not big guys. It doesn't mean the coach just abandoned them and yes trae not being a part of the closing or a healthy trae not being a part of the closing thing and seeing lopez have other good moments in that series like reminds of all these things but lopez came out a game one against atlanta with four forty five left in the third quarter. Didn't come back in the game until he was a late. Rebound sub with under minutes ago. All right so for but just was like i as he did the same thing. Tonight at seventy eight sixty two. Four forty two left in the third. We didn't see lopez again in this game. So i think coach tried a million different things tonight so for people who are like. Oh no adjustment. So adjustments i mean honestly could argue mate. He made so many adjustments until he gets the adjustment that seemed like it kept the more competitive. But i'd also cautioned against like okay. Now they have to go small and no brook lopez. Because we made that mistake. As i just said and look let's be honest. I even thought phoenix started to go a little slow bill because they just felt like they were in such control. The game that there's a tendency to leak a little bit and then leads starts shirl. Anyway i agree well with lopez. I think there's now it does look like starches come back. That actually looks like a bad knee. Injury looked like something the it happens so they can spot lopez against in all the ninety minutes right. I want him out there for every single minute against kaminsky. Whatever though don't they were craig whatever. I don't know what's going to happen like you said this happened last year and the the other thing that found the bucks. I'm looking at it. Like i didn't know i was gonna get jaanus. You know to play thirty five minutes until probably the day before i missed. What twelve laps in the first three quarters although stuff around the rim. They just like couldn't buy a break. I didn't feel like they were getting a ton of calls either and then And chris went nuclear in the third quarter. He just made everything. Like if you're going to have chris paul sixteen point third quarter. You're probably going to be in trouble if you're the other team. I like the way the suns played. I don't know if you're just thinking like hey. What could the sons do better like yet. They were eleven thirty four from three for the most part that was you know i would say ninety percent as well as they could play but walk. You seem like that a lot. Marin the thing for me with milwaukee is holiday what what is holiday at this point. What's going on with this guy. Like as i said earlier. I bet him for finals of ep. Ninety one i thought he was incredible and game six against atlanta. I thought that was one of the more dominant to way games. I've seen from guard in a while. He was guarding everybody. He was doing everything and he was in. General really good net series. I think he was twenty two ten and five but he has this. You know you see him in some of these games that it's like what the hell happened this guy and then come back. The next day is fine. But i thought they needed him tonight. I think they need is offense in this series. I think they need to make palm booker like defend people and do and do stuff on the defensive end use manager of holidays not gonna do that I don't think the bucks have a chance. I think we all like jrue holiday. I think all of us that have watched through holiday. Over's career like man. I'd love to have that guy my team and now that he's in the spotlight You're like i guess i'd still like them. But maybe i'd be less excited. If i got him because this has been bad i look. I know he's had his moments. He's good enough to have one of those big games. I mean he added that abysmal brooklyn game was a game five and then he just lit it up at the very end. And you're like. Oh yeah i mean. He looked games ost. Yeah it was a game seven. That was the game who yeah one of them. Yeah i know what you're talking about. I think it was game seven though it was it. Everything was terrible until all of a sudden he made every shot. And you're like okay Yeah by the way it was game. Seven my yeah I mean he's eighteen and six with eight and a half assists through the playoffs. You know he's forty to thirty percent from three forty two. It was so much it'll stand today. They were so middleton heavy. that is just. that's not. You're not gonna win the finals like that. They need a second guy and you know they. They weren't going on us at all with that brooklyn that stuff that they kind of tapped into in the brooklyn series then more in atlanta before he got hurt where there were really icing on one side and letting him either draw double or try to crash into the paint. Little jump book stuff. Didn't really do that at all today. i just think they'd be more from how because jeff t played ten minutes tonight to put their holiday was terrible for game one. I mean holiday when you look at me..

Show about The washington football team but we talked a little bit at the end but the nba finals. He's covered the nba the wizards for years. By the way the wizards of narrow down their choices of coaches to according to Adrian wakowski of four Four assistant coaches And they are moseley in dallas darvin ham And charles lee in milwaukee and then wes unseld junior from denver. Now wes unseld. Juniors a significant candidate a leading candidate for the orlando job as well sam cells apparently out. I don't know why he's out this. This is one of those things. Tommy where we just don't know like i i i was telling somebody Over the weekend they're like well. Who should they hire. I'm like i don't know. I have no idea anything about these assistant coaches. I don't know what their strengths are. I don't know what their weaknesses are. I'm not involved in interviewing them. But sam cassell. Who's been this incredibly successful assistant coach for so long. And he's got an interview after interview and can't get a head coaching job. Like there's something there that we don't know it may be the way he interviews. It may be. I don't know what it is I always thought he'd be a really good head coach but is not going to be the head coach of the wizards according to most people but back to the nba finals so Somebody said to me. Ben said to me this morning that in the history of the nba finals. Like it's been a long long time since we've had a series that hasn't had like an obvious superstar player in the finals. And he's right like if you go through like now. Jaanus is a superstar. Okay he is and yanni's you can make the cases of top five player in the game and chris. Paul is a longtime superstar at the end of his career. Playing great. And i think devon booker and andy andre eight ner both future stars in this league. But it's like the first time in a long time you haven't had like a true established major superstar in the finals like even when detroit won it in two thousand four without an obvious top five player. They beat kobe and shack. Now jaanus you could make the case. I guess but it really is the most underwhelming attractive. Nba finals in tommy..

"Next guest has already made history in the house of representatives this year and he is going to make history again. It is a bit of history that he shares with bernie sanders. John yarmuth is the chair of the house. Budget committee senator. Sanders is the chair of the senate budget. Committee passed through their committees the single biggest budget resolution in history which became the legislative framework for president. Biden's covert relief built. And now john yarmuth and bernie sanders are going to do it again. They're going to pass another budget resolution. Which will be bigger than the first budget resolution that they passed this year and so to add to the historic nature of the second budget resolution. It will be the first time in history but the house and senate chairs. the budget. Committee's will have passed more than one budget resolution in the same year passing a budget resolution is the single most complex and difficult thing chair. A budget committee has to do after budget resolution is passed other committees of the house and senate go to work on the specific legislative changes that are only outlined in the budget resolution. It normally takes a few months for the committee's the to finish that work which they then send directly to the senate and house floors to be passed together in what is then called a budget. Reconciliation bill the reconciliation bill in bookkeeping terms reconciles the numbers that were outlined in the budget resolution with real and specific legislative changes in taxes and spending that add up to those same numbers today speaker. Nancy pelosi said once again that she expects the partisan bill to i be passed in the senate at the bipartisan bill. To i be passed in the senate sent to the house where she will. Then hold it until john yarmuth Budget resolution is ready to pass the house. What i said last week and i reiterate now is that in our in in the house of representatives that that particular version as it is is something that we would take up once we see what the budget parameters are of the budget. Bill that the senate will pass challenge facing chairman yonathan chairman. Sanders is that they have to write a budget resolution. That will get almost all of the democratic votes in the house and has to get all of the democratic votes in the senate and one of those democratic votes in the senate doesn't sound ready yet to give president biden everything. He's asking for in that bill if they think in reconciliation. I'm gonna throw caution to the wind and go to five or six trillion dollars when we can only afford one or one and a half or maybe two and what we can pay for then. I can't be there. Joining us now is democratic carson. John yarmuth of kentucky. He is the chair of the house. Budget committee the history-making chair of the budget committee chairman. mr chairman. You just you have that difficult position in the house of you could write a bill in the house. Budget resolution the house That could easily pass the house. But you know that you have to have something identical to what the senate passes in. You just heard joe. Manchin say what he believes at this stage. He's not willing to do. He's not willing to go above maybe two trillion dollars maybe three trillion dollars. The president wants to go much higher than that. What do you say to senator mansion. Well i say to him..

Grappling with the Gray

"Today I am thrilled to welcome back Yonathan Golsen. Is Director of ethical imperatives LLC teaching professionals have good ethics is good business and the benefits of intellectual diversity. He's a keynote and Ted ex speaker trainer coach and Community Rabbi as well as a repentant hitchhiker recovered circumnavigator. Former newspaper columnist and retired high school teacher in Saint Louis. His sixth book is grappling with the Grey and ethical handbook for personal success and business prosperity. Thanks so much for coming back and having a conversation with me honest him. A. Delighted Diana was looking back through my files and I saw that you were the ninth interview that I? Given since I've become a professional speaker and now I've done about seventy of them and the one with you I think store ranks among the best that I've done. So you brought the best of me and. SET The bar. Very. Well I have to say it was one of my favorite conversations that you are one of my favorite guests so. I'm so glad to have been able to help you get into this whole realm of podcast res. so so I want. So congratulations on the book by the way you. I am really tremendously impressed with it and. But I WANNA talk about obviously ethics. And? Most leaders are many leaders. Put Ethics in the soft skill category. Ned restarted. Okay, go ahead 'cause that's a problem. Isn't it? Yeah. Sounds, skills is one of those. Terms that we use or some IOS for something that is sort of optional. Or we'll get to it after we get to all the important stuff. And as I've been discussing this more and more. I keep tweaking and refining. My definition ethics. which ultimately has to do with recognizing our place in the world. And recognizing the impact that our actions have on those around us. Because that's. What forms relationships? And success in every aspect of her leads is all about relationships family business community. Nationally, locally. And you see the fallout. I mean. Another election. When you know every four years, we think it can't get worse than this and that it dies. If we if we would cultivate the sensitivity for ethical speech ethical behavior. What I call the mindset. That would really transform our conversations are relationships and. Really everything that the shapes the quality of our lives. Boy I so agree with you I think ethics and and maybe more. So now because of. Everything that we are witnessing in the world. That is so incredibly. Central. In in my opinion to how we show up in the world. that it really needs to be relegated doing more important. Place in business and politics seventy. Child rearing. Certainly, as a rabbi had come at everything from the illogical or biblical point of view as well and in Jewish tradition. We understand that the the second temple in Jerusalem, which was destroyed by the Romans in your seventy. the underlying cause of the breakdown in Jewish society that led to the temple's destruction. Was the Jews did not go beyond the letter of the law. and. That's a pretty astonishing comment. I mean, they were keeping the law they were following the rules they were in compliance. But they used the law as an excuse. To circumvent the spirit of the law and the spirit of the lies alternately what keeps us? Society. Healthy.
