"The second episode and for those of you who are just now tuning in. You're listening to part two so go back and listen to part one. LS Lamb is the Canadian university student. Who came to California L. A. -fornia and a bit of a tour and she checked into the hotel in Los Angeles and two and a half weeks later was discovered deceased and nude and the water tank on the roof of the hotel? You may have seen the C- c- TV footage that just absolutely shocked the world. It's very unnerving but yeah it's a really really fascinating case and a lot of doesn't make sense. There are a lot of questions still surrounding this case so author and investigative journalist Shake Anderson has joined thus for this particular series. He has spent the last five years of his life. self-funding a full private investigation. Now this is included private investigators he spoken Lookin with original members of LAPD law enforcement the coroner medical examiner. So a lot of fascinating information and Jake was kind enough to join us to kind of the muddled time line of this case a lot of moving pieces a lot of misinformation lot of disinformation formation. It's just it's it's really strange so things for tuning in on this particular episode we will be covering basically the discovery of her body on the hotel rooftop theories autopsy and ultimately we will ask Jake what he thinks happened to at least a lamb things for tuning and we will go ahead an air. The interview starting with the discovery of the lease limps body guests of the hotel complained about water. Pressure Smell L. Taste and look of the water. They were saying that it would come out black at first and then run clear Someone had mentioned a sweet Disgusting Taste at one point. Very strange taste They they were having a hard time describing it. What happened is maintenance worker? Sant Yago Oh go. Lopez went up to the roof. Take the water tanks and what he said and this was on one of the interviews that was able to find he says I noticed the hatch to the main water tank was open and looked inside and saw an Asian woman lying face up in the water approximately twelve inches from the top of the take so so many questions with the discovery of the body when he found the body something I thought was very strange and maybe I just haven't seen enough to drown victims or people. All that have been in a tank for multiple weeks. He identified it very quickly. You know the way that he said I looked inside of this tiny little hatch. That seems like it would have been darkened side in an Asian woman lying face up in the water. I just feel. That's that's a little strange. Just right away. He automatically know what was her Her now I have. I have to say from personal experience so I lived in Portland Maine for God like twelve years and we had a whole spate of quote quote unquote accidental drownings And this is actually. What got me interested in the Smiley face murders which believe what you want about them but there were some Very very very suspicious. Just the deaths of very young fit active men. Some of whom were fishermen or grew up on the water did not ingest alcohol who ended up dead and the Harbor Auber near where I lived and I kind of like went down. The the whole of research for the US and looked at people drowning victims. Is I know what they look like. I know what they look like. They've been in the water for a week versus a couple couple of weeks or a couple months so I guess my question what. I'm trying to piece together as I did. In fact look for at least a lamb's autopsy photos which I could not find anywhere. I'm assuming they have not been released to the public. Or maybe I'm just not looking in the right place They haven't released those they haven't okay so what. I can't imagine either knowing what victim looks like that. That gentleman the maintenance worker would be able to just say an Asian woman lying face up looking right at me like I just can't imagine ball topsy. Report did state that her face was bloated right eight but how quickly with a bloated face. Yeah it's you know. Actually I don't think until just now I've realized how strange it is that he he said to Elision From what I mean. There's no way it was some decomposition BA based on the autopsy. That was some skin slippage and Dan but it wasn't like completely decompose. You know like she been in the tank for about ten days. I think so I'm sure it was ghoulish but it wasn't like I I. I still think it would be like structurally would still be able to tell was person i. I don't know now that I'm thinking about it whether you'd be able to tell the necessity city that that's a little odd that yeah because of how swollen I mean according to the autopsy we can start talking about the autopsy then detail you know it says that she was very bloated and I just feel like a bloated face. It would be hard to determine in. I understand she was naked so of course he could tell it's a woman but her face I just I wouldn't be able to say I mean again. I haven't seen a ton of drought victims. So why there's there's two elements to the way she was discovered that I think are most important one I think. Of course the the biggest one is whether the lid was closer. Not Right Obviously if she climbed in herself whether by accident accident or on purpose I guess it was on purpose she could have covered it but either way. I don't think he was physically possible for her to put that live back over her head right though. It's definitely significant. That Lopez said the lady was opened. Now I will say that I don't know if I believe Lopez and there's awesome religious kinda strange stuff with him the way he's disappeared. He's basically disappeared right and I have. I have evidence. Are I have reason to to believe based on something. His half brother said that he was moved out of the country has moved back to Mexico. That's especially significant. Given that he found the body and I think he perjured himself in his civil deposition. The reason I say that is because first of all. I don't think the lid was open then. I thought it was for the longest time and for to me that was like a a pretty significant detail however I spoke with care. Remember the cops name now. It's in the book but he said he was a first responder at this time he since moved on and is now the chief of police In in a Wisconsin town. So He's you know you don't get to be chief of police cleese with sloppy police work or maybe you do an La you do actually but this guy said in in a very early police report that all the leads all the tanks. Thanks were closed and I thought it was significant As I emailed him OUTTA. And shockingly he responded to me said Lee was closed now. Is it possible that South Yoga Lopez found the body told the management got the police underway. And then close it back up while he waited for the police. uh-huh that Frankly if I'm him and I'm an employee of the places I've just found a body I'm not touching anything right. Yeah Adam saying that's how how I found it okay. There's all kinds of weird stuff going on with the hotel in terms of Dislo pass guy and weird Real Estate Eight deals that were going down with Ltd are with us. Use Me with Suselo. Tell this exact time but second so that live is a huge element right the second the biggest element that you wouldn't necessarily pick up on it just from reading the autopsy but he says she was face up right then that's how he Determined That's how he assigned an ethnicity. That's how he knew. A woman is face up. Okay and in this blends a little bit into the autopsy but a according according to the doctor I interviewed Dr His road as a long career and poppies. He said I interviewed him in depth. Because I was so fascinating photograph. Saying he says it's extremely unusual especially in a small contained body of water for her to have been face face up. He says in vast majority of drowning cases when there's not any kind of propeller motion for my moving body of water that that the way canucks of how the body behaves after death. It's you almost always face down so the bass up indicates to me Oh and is part of variety of evidence I point to which is I think she was dead before she was in the tank. There is an interview with him that. CBS LOS-ANGELES I believe Aleve put up. Where by the way he's the former deputy coroner in Pittsburgh I believe right and he can? He says that he conducted thousands of autopsies. He is he reviewed lambs autopsy said that it was very unusual and that he believes that it still should have been undetermined for sure. Yeah he says there was in extremely small amount of water in her pleural. Cavities but he says do not significant water accumulation in her lungs or her stomach. You can drown corddry drowning without water getting in your lungs but you would still have water in your stomach right well. That's a shocking statement statement. Frankly and I really wanted the coroner to the main coroner Wang to address it Unfortunately Wang is a little busy because he's is being sued for also fine an autopsy. Now this is actually the question that I had for you and I've been I've been sitting on this one so Dr Wang so like you said him being sued for the falsifying the autopsy for that case which was actually really interesting so already. We have a little bit of Corruption Brewing on the you know in terms terms of autopsy right. Is there so many things wrong with the autopsy. I mean that that would be almost a whole other section of podcast but I I think the the the the really significant aspects are is a nose significant water accumulation Face up instead of face down down and finally any any coroner who is trying to determine a cause of death who thinks it's drowning. His rose says that there's additional identify that you would be looking at to try and determine you would you you task sinuses behind the nose and you test the hi Roy bone of the neck. These are things that will commonly give you additional clues to drowning. If you round you will find what usually you'll find water her in these sinuses. I can't remember the name of the sinuses and then normally will see some kind of stress fracture to the highway Gong because a drowning is a very physiologically traumatic event The coroner did not analyze those two at all so basically they didn't find any water racing significant accumulation of water and said Oh well because she had bipolar disorder and because we didn't find any other Evidence of a foul play. Like no racine or lacerations. We're GONNA say we're going to go ahead and say was an accidental drowning. But then there's other anomalies Donnelly's there there was a pooling of blood around her ena some kind of And and the most common explanation of that was it. That is a by product product of decomposition gases. Kind of forcing things to happen. Canada does a grisly detail of drowning. But basically some people say that that's common German and then other people say that's anomalous and should have been looked at but you know it really depends either way it's it's an autopsy that really the almost raises more questions than it answers. No is it also true that they based on the lack of physical marks on her body that they did a reaped tasks like a rape kit but actually never tested that yes. That's actually exactly right actually. And that's another thing that I asked the deputy coroner is where where is the rape kit. And he said Oh that they did a rape cat. The results are in a supplementary document of like narrowed. Not Not and I..

"I don't know but even in two thousand fourteen they were still having these elevator issues. This you know. There's tons of surveillance footage of people. Going what the hell out of awkward opportunities for. Yeah Yeah and the way that she peeks around my interpretation is okay like like you said Robin. She looks confused. It's not closing so she kind of peaks like anyone. Anyone can help me and then that you know after that it gets a little strange with the hand movements but then other things too is you know how if it was cut. Are they cutting out someone that was standing outside of it. Yeah right yeah. That's the big question. Is You know if it was. You know if it was edited. Yeah I mean I think that would be the million dollar question there and unfortunately I'm not sure that we're gonNA find out. I wonder if that first video though is any sort of different front you know. Is it a little more clearer. Does it show the time stamp better. Does it have a couple extra seconds to it. That's interesting that it's taken down right. Yeah no no no it was. It was the same one it was just it was okay. It was you know. I don't know why he took it down. Actually did he say that the LADY LAPD heated game at ten well. He wouldn't confirm it. But that's what was so weird to me. Is that the video it's this wasn't on like the LAPD Youtube Channel title is wasn't on the LAPD Public homepage this video. First aired on this random journalist issue tube channel and yeah how did he get it. Why did they give it to him? There's a story there and the fact that he will eat it could be a born story. Maybe but the fact that he won't address it at all. I can't tell you how many times I came at him. You know practically begging dude. Can you just seriously tell me why like why. Why do they give it to you? Answer it in like one sentence. It wouldn't even be a big deal. The fact that he refuses to talk about it just adds one more layer of weird eared conspiratorial strangeness. To it that no one will talk like you know I understand the family not talking and that's totally their prerogative but hotel won't talk about it the lapd won't talk about it. Even as random journalist at journalists are supposed to talk about stuff journalists about transparency Z.. How did this guy get this tape? A why why was he charged with displaying it to the public for five years I strange I wonder if he got a source source from the hotel to get it to him. I mean maybe just Kinda go at every angle on. I mean that's one way I know. Journalists can deep dive like thought. But but it's it's odd that you have this case. That almost feels like it never even happened to a degree like all you have is autopsy report you have that video which was you know could be questionable. We don't know you know someone literally just disappeared. Yeah Yup or maybe she lake had a fabricate life. We just don't know we only have really like is i. I'm not trying to lake. You know get to like in the clouds on it but it's kind of odd to me that you you have someone who could have been murdered but even though the autopsy doesn't show any I wanNA talk about autopsy. Yeah yes so a minute. What is next on on the time? Line Paso four days later guests of the hotel complained about water pressure her smell taste and look of the water. They were saying that it would come out black at first and then run clear Someone had mentioned and a sweet disgusting taste at one point.
