It needs to be able to supply yourself three ERA as well, but for the White Sox, they've been able to figure out if you have more things with regards to the bullpen as Jimmy Lambert, a failed starter, he used to be able to come through in the bullpen he Ronaldo Lopez, both given the team a sub two 80 ERA. You've had Liam henriksen Kendall graben really by the constants for the theme and for the White Sox. Like a firepower in terms of homers as earth the same quite a bit. So this is a little bit of a scenario in which I'd be willing to take a run with the White Sox and with this subtle set of them at 8.3.

"Some barbecue. Something like that going on. Joe Brands and WGN Radio Sports. Joe's been mentioning all morning that we've got five Chicago professional baseball players headed to the All Star Game in Colorado, a trio of pictures from the white socks and a picture from the Cubs. Craig Kimbrel, but also Chris Bryant's heading over Joe any surprises and who got to go this year? No, I think it's I mean, are you talkin Chicago or overall or ball? Just that comes in the socks? Yeah. Socks not having a position player surprises me a little bit. Yeah. I mean, obviously, you know some of the big names who have been injured all year like Louis, Robert Lloyd Jimenez. They might be guys that you're looking at, Um Jose Abreu. Au hasn't had his top of the caliber season so far this year. There's been that decline that you're me. Mercedes has had in so many offensive guys. You know, there's always just some type of flaw here and there. You're thinking maybe Tim Anderson Probably with the best shot offensively, but, um, you know, it's this team is is built so well rounded that even when you know Robert and Jimenez went down I figure okay. At least it's in the aspect for this team, where they where they are. The deepest heading into this year was all about the explosive offense and how many guys that they had in this lineup That could just do damage at any point, And obviously you don't want to see injuries and you don't want to see all these Highlight guys going down, especially at the same time, but if there were an aspect for this team to go down You would think it should be the offense because it is so deep that they can pull through, and I mean they're still doing that right now. They're in first place. They've got the best run differential in the American League Central. Um, so you know, it's it's It's just one of those things where you've got a really great team and you hate to see these injuries. But who knows what's going to happen towards the end of the year? When a few of these guys can come back and maybe do some damage? It really is impressive that the sacks have been able to weather the storm with this many injuries. You mean Mercedes, who had the hottest start of anybody in like 100 years, is now playing in the minor leagues. He sells a better average than anybody on the Cubs, but he's not good enough to stay on the socks right now. That's stunning. Yeah, but that just shows of how hot of a start he got off to, Um, and then it also just shows how tough this league is and how pictures can adapt to you and they can, you know, figure out some of your holes, and I think some of that has been exposed. I think the biggest not the biggest concern, but the biggest thing that hurts You mean Mercedeses. He doesn't really have a position, so he's not hitting. He becomes a very invaluable piece. And then why not bring up a guy like Jake Burger? When Yoan Moncada goes down, and then Jake Lamb goes down with it? Why not bring up a guy with an opportunity to do something? If he can play a position and help you out defensively a little bit, So I mean, that's just kind of the case with your many Mercedes, but I still can see him. Popping up towards the end of the year. And like coming away with this huge playoff game that helps the socks and such a big way, you know, like a pinch hit situation or something and he comes through. I don't think we've seen the end of your main Mercedes. But I appreciate what the socks are doing. Giving a guy like Jake Burger an opportunity and also just holding Mercedes accountable for not being able to sustain what he did at the beginning of the year and also saying something like he's still outperforming anybody. And the Cubs isn't saying anything right now because the Cubs are all time awful right now. It's unbelievable. They throw combined no hitter on the first game of the trip in L, A. And then bupkis ever since, and they can't produce any often. Yeah, but you know, and I'm not. I'm not making excuses. But what has it been? 51 run losses on this nine game losing skid? I mean, I get it. You got to score more runs than the other team. But Kyle Hendricks said. It best is like we have to play a perfect game in order to win. But listen, I know I know Cub fans don't want to hear excuses because it's just basically been a downhill slide ever since 2016 and there's a lot of fingers being pointed, but Yeah, it's just It's just frustrating because now you're seeing why the Cubs were able to win so much before because this bullpen was just kind of saving them in these games where the offence produces just enough in the bullpen hangs onto it. And now you can't really blame the bullpen. But now that their faltering even just a little bit, this whole team is kind of crumbling At this point, um And two weeks ago three weeks ago, you're all excited that the both teams are in first place and headed towards really exciting fall, And now you're talking about the cubs selling off pieces. But then you're thinking who is even worth anything right now with the way that they're playing, so we'll keep an eye on that will talk to you about this more as the show goes on. "Early this week this coming week. It's Saturday because we're doing White Sox weekly today. Sunday's tomorrow. Monday's after that Go face the twins, and it's three against the Orioles, and that's the All Star break. But you know you start to look at. Okay. How many guys are here? Who's producing Who's not? What kind of positions are you looking to make? Um Little bit stronger, a little bit deeper. The socks just returned Billy Hamilton to the active roster. Same thing for Adam Eaton. Brian Goodwin is playing very well for the White Sox. And while he's you know, Not the the best center field do they have on the squad? Adam Angle is, is that guy at this point? If he's healthy, Of course, he can certainly provide for you in center field and fits in well in either corner. There's decisions, though they have to get made. There's squeezes that are going to happen there. And not for nothing, but it sounds like you know, the Re injury to Adam Engel was a little bit freaky. In that the the scar tissue or just kind of the I don't know if it's technically scar tissue, but the beat up stuff in his hamstring can I Trigger warning here, kind of opened up and started leaking. That's where the fluid came from. There's a lot of that in there, and that's really not supposed to happen. It's fairly rare, but from what it sounds like That means that it's It's not quite a re injury. It's not another pull of the hamstring. It's just kind of like a Valve got stuck open in the plumbing right? So hopefully that's a good thing for angle, and he's able to get back into the swing of things pretty quickly. More outfield defense is not a bad thing for any ball club. Little bit more range a little bit more versatility is good. But I mean, that's that's You think about things? That could be Gavin sheets going back to Triple A Don't know how long the issue is going to be for Yoan Moncada. It sounds like the hope is that after this weekend against the Tigers that Moncada could probably pop back into the lineup for the Sox, but we don't know that yet. While Tony LaRussa told reporters earlier today and we mentioned it on the show that it doesn't look like an I L stint for Yasmani Grandal will be necessary. That could still be a thing. He left last night's game of the calf strain. He was running around a little bit today, and the White Sox did not add anyone to the roster. They're going to go with one catcher. Interestingly, Danny Mandic is the emergency guy if Zach Collins would have to leave the game for any reason. Was hoping that doesn't happen. Not that men. They couldn't do it is that kind of dude? Those teams have a guy on the 40 man that is like he's like that guy. You can't. He won't say no to anything. He's 100% on any decision that that's daddy. I mean, at least a little bit. I've known him. That's that's Danny. He's ready to roll. You don't want to put a guy in that position and hopefully it's Collins the rest of the weekend. But if something had to be done there, Sebby Savall a is there and then a roster move has to be made just to fit that second catcher in Good news is that you know, these guys are optional. I 100% believe it is for that reason and in a way, I don't blame them. I think Anderson could have picked up another, Bass said yesterday. I think in the first inning But you know he's running at 80%. Right now. The White Sox are kind of operating offensively of just trying to survive at the moment, because the guys that are Boston battle line and hustling the things that we love to see. As fans. You know they've had injuries elsewhere, two kopecks still going to a rehab start. They don't know if he's going to go down to triple A and work out there. Just have a couple rehab starts and then come back. You lost him Anderson for a while. You lost a brave you for a few games, so this team has dealt with injuries but now three long term injuries to everyday players And right now it's next man up mentality until they try to make a move. And what move? Is that going to be? Because you need infield Help. You need outfield. Help! You need bullpen health. What? You don't need a starting pitching? You got starting pitching. You need bullpen help. Right now. We saw the bullpen implode last night. You need infield help, And you need maybe someone for the outfield until you know Robert and Alloy can come back. And until then you're going to have to put together a lineup and other guys are going to have to step up. And this is something I said before. Where a guy like Madrigal who doesn't hit for power. You know he's not. You're not losing a 30 home. Run guy. A 40 home run guy. Well, you're losing is a guy that hits for average, a guy who is clutch. And they're doing a good job picking up the slack left without having a Loy Robert in the line up Now, the question is without Madrigal, Will they be able to continue this high average high on base percentage? And the run scoring that they've been able to do to this point this season. But again, I've yet to hit this freak out portion of this season for me as a White Sox fan, Is it good? No, It's terrible. I'd love to see him out there. It's the last thing you want is these players, especially the young guys were finally coming into their own to go down for an extended period of time of the season, when you think you have a championship roster But the thing is this pitching staff is that good and they still have some really good offensive pieces. Tim Anderson, Jose Bre, You Yoan! Moncada! Those three are there your main Mercedes to this point this season has been good. Andrew von has been really good. Like they do have enough to be a good offense, So I'm still not freaking out yet, But there is a thing that's called, You know. Death 5000 cuts, right? You saw it. You saw somewhat last night. Tim Anderson gets on Steel second steals third, even though he didn't really need to. But then you've got three guys that come up and can't do anything with it. You know what I mean? You'd like them to get to the World Series this year, But so many of these players are young that to me. I don't feel the time crunch where I think that this is the last run. This is one of the last opportunities that no, no, no, not at all. I'm not taken for granted that that you could just roll out and be a championship contending team each and every season. Then I'm gonna start to get extremely worried because you and your right to when it comes to the playoffs because this team based on the division that they're in, if they're going to make the playoffs, they're going to make a run in the playoffs. Hopefully And when you get to the playoffs, all that really matters is you're starting pitching in situational hitting, so if they can get something, and when it comes to situational hitting, you don't see games in the playoffs. Very rarely. Do you get 98 games in the playoffs? You're getting a lot of 3 to 14 to two. You're getting a lot of these low scoring games because pitching is it such a high level in the playoffs? That you need to score when it's available. So getting Robert Beck will be huge. Getting a lawyer back will be huge, hopefully, magical can come back for the playoffs. That would be big if you can get if he doesn't if you can avoid surgery and come back at some point during this season. So, yes, you're right. But eventually these these things add up all of these injuries like it's not normal to lose three of your core everyday players in a single season.
