Hybrid going thank you for having me your our super grateful that you share your story with us in your journey which helps all of us become better parents and create more hope and more experienced in more all that stuff that we want to have in our lives so let me start by telling naked parent nation. A little bit about you. You are a mother three. You were from hall your to stick and your youngest is narrow typical. You're always trans and your middle son has yari. Malformation and tethered cord. You are narrowed a verse and have key already. Malformation and yes earner nonprofit foster kids which is so cool and well tell us explains out those things that i explained so route all of the words. Yeah hi everybody. How's it going. So yes my older two are artistic. My oldest is trans. And it's so funny. In the the more i learn about like autism stuff more common. I see for autistic people to be more gender fluid and that's exactly the story of my oldest and on top of that the also have a lot of other underlying mental health issues and older they get the more profound that gets on top of autism and everything else. My middle son also is autistic and he has yard malformation. So do i. It's a they're just finally finding the genetic link. But essentially the cerebellar tonsils our brains falling out of the back of our head malformation up the skull which leads to cerebral tonsils which is a little loopy live. Part of your brain is her needed. It's falling out. And so it presses on the brain stem it can cause a wide variety of symptoms. And yell says tethered cord. So it's another anomaly. That kind of happens all at the same time. He had surgery for his heather record when he was five. I had brain surgery for mike yari. When i was thirty six he has not gone under that surgery yet but it very much. It really limits. His activity level increases his pain likable his cognitive functions. His dexterity flexibility. It affects a whole lot of stuff. On top of navigating the neurotic world with an atypical mines and my youngest is seven is far as we know. He's are the only neuro typical person in our house. He's the odd man house. Odd man out leave very colorful And it's just been recently. He's seven and my middle son is ten and they are the best of friends. Canada's always been super cool to watch this neuro. Typical kid literally groping autistic world. You know like his brother like let him in to these imagination things. I have get him into speech therapy because he learned how to talk from his his brother. You know if funny cadences and stuff like that on. It's just been in the past year. Or so. That i really had to focus on making sure that he is living as a fulfilled life as he can because we are very routine in our house you know like going out and spontaneously. Doing things doesn't happen because it's very much teetered around preventing over-stimulation and burn out and my other children's like mental health. And just the smoothness of our house. So it's very routine and in the past six or seven months. I'm really seeing his need to not be super routine and to be around. Maybe more neurotic people and on the flip side. I feel like this kid is growing up with such an amazing view of autism in l. Like he is he's got. He knows that his older siblings are autistic. He has a really great understanding that he also knows it as normal few which is really cool so cool. That's what we're trying to do with the whole world out. There is something that he's doing naturally. Add from barry. Clean slate as so cool bryant. Yeah it is cool and it is challenging. Hugh my oldest. My middle son is probably my easiest child. I hate that term about children's pardons on children be kids our kids and the everybody is different but i used to say if i could have had twenty of him i would've i would've just kept going because he was he's just this amazing calm peaceful happy little dude. And my oldest. You know we're talking spectrum is my hellfire and has been since the day. They were born when they are triggered when they have their outbursts. It's very violence. It's very verbally abusive. It's very scary and always has been even when they were five you when they were nine threatening to hurt themselves brought me her us. It's hard and so having my other two boys there witness to this and not wanting to use the fact that they're like autistic and over stimulated or all of these things as an excuse for violence scary behavior but also trying to explain that has been really really tricky and Trying to make sure that my younger kids don't mimic that behavior. That's not what we do when we're angry and not what we do when we're over stimulated has been pretty challenging but all in all we are managing. Billy something i constantly have to remind myself is every single. Child is different regardless of their neuro diversity regardless of their physical limitations or disability. Like every kid is different. And i feel like you can't parents all your children the same way you know. My oldest is going to have limitations and expectations that way different than my youngest. You know and. I fill ache as parents going in. You know when we're pregnant stuff. We always have this image in our head and this can be something. That's really hard select. Dial of how it's gonna be right how it's gonna be when the kids are born in your head. You don't generally think of having a child. That is sick or having a child with disabilities or having a child who's autistic or who operates you know we really just kind of grow up with this lake. Very fluffy image and the second. We have that baby that image gets popped and when i was working with birthing mothers and parents. I always tried to talk about this when you're talking about preparing for parenthood you read all these books and you buy all the things and you think you got it that you bring that baby home. You realize it's crazy the overwhelming and a lot of people. They will mourn the idea of what they thought parent hood with or they will more. They use that word very lightly but they're just like it wasn't what i expected. This is super hard and the parenthood is hard. We spend a lot of time. We spend not knowing what we're doing just navigating and figuring out and finding hacks and i think that's why it's and so important you know is listening to other people's hacks or perspectives can sometime really open up lake freedom and happiness and sometimes acceptance. I've met parents at sometimes just had to accept that this is your child at. It's awesome yachts. Going to be hard. But i know some neuro typical kids that are really hard to dislike focusing on that acceptance than you know because my oldest was once again. I'm gonna say my most challenging child right off the bat. I like earn my coat of arms harassing this cat. And so when my voice.
