"Michael, thank you. It's 6 36 on Wall Street. And it's time now for the Bloomberg sports update to answer that. Here's John stash. All right, John, other one, nothing lost for the Yankees at after this past Saturday in St. Louis last night in Seattle, the Mariners won one zero in 13 innings neither team could score despite the rule now where extra innings begin with a runner at second base in both the tenth and 11th the yanks killed their scoring chance first, Andrew benintendi got picked off and then Jose trevino got thrown out between second and third, Aaron Boone was asked about base running blunders. Obviously, you know, we're runs are really tough to come by. You know, it's been one of the real strengths of this team, so I don't want us to lose our aggressiveness, but obviously we got to be a little smarter. Mariners won it with a couple of hits in the 13th off Jonathan Lewis again 13 innings the angst only had three hits. The mets with their 6 two win over the reds and said he field now have a better record than the Yankees Carlos Carrasco with his 13th win home runs for Francisco Lindor and Jeff McNeil the mets have won 14 of the last 16 in their last four wins. They've only allowed a total of 7

"That's a Bloomberg business flash. Now here's Michael Barr with more on what's going on around the world, Michael. Nathan, thank you very much. Former president Donald Trump will be questioned under oath today and the New York attorney general's long running civil investigation into his real estate dealings. Monday, FBI agents searched his Florida estate as part of an unrelated federal probe. The FDA signed off on the Biden administration's plan to stretch out the limited supply of monkey pox vaccine. The White House said it would make the currently 440,000 available doses into more than 2 million smaller doses. In baseball, the Yankees lost to the Mariners one zip 13 innings. "5 to play for you for the first half of the deal. All right, well, if you're looking at the back half of his contract and what you predict, I think this is a natural gateway. We have to ask you for your favorite thing predictions. Yeah, I am glad you're laughing. It's gonna get real, real, real quick. My favorite thing. You know, the predictions. The one thing that when they turn out well, nobody cares and when they don't, everybody cares. All right, well, let's care about this one. Do you think Aaron judge will eclipse Roger Maris 61 home runs this season? So before the second half on ESPN dot com, I was asked this very question. And this was before Aaron judge went off on a home run jag to begin the second half, which validated my answer, which was yes. I do believe he will exceed 61 home runs this year. I am currently like you can hear it. Yankees fans. I am knocking on wood right now. My wooden desk right here, I don't want to drop a passing curse on him and doom him to the injured list and ruin the Yankee season, but so long as Aaron judge stays healthy, I would be stunned if he did not exceed 61. Well, I'm glad you're speaking directly to Yankees fans because my next prediction I want to ask you is, where is Aaron judge playing next season? Oh boy. This is a tougher one. The Yankees are always around or in excess of the luxury tax threshold, which is $230 million this year, $233 million next year. And let's remember they already have Garrett Cole under contract for a $36 million a year. They already have Giancarlo Stanton under contract for more than $30 million a year. They've got DJ le mayhew under contract. But if you look at their luxury tax number next year, right now it's only at a $140 million. So the Yankees have the room, they have the revenues, they have the reason. And that reason is why my long winded answer to this question is that he will continue wearing pinstripes next season. I think it's because the alternative is kind of devastating. I'm not basing my judgment for what the New York Yankees are going to do with Aaron judge. On my friends who are Yankee fans, but all of them. Men, women. Their children, every Yankees fan I know. Finds the notion of Aaron judge wearing a different uniform, absolutely devastating. Aaron judge, he's the type of player who Yankees fans truly want to root for. And the type of season he's having right now, the possibility that he's going to exceed 61 home runs and win the American League MVP. And potentially take the Yankees to their first championship since 2009. That's the kind of guy, if you're a franchise like the Yankees, you don't let go.

"Is that there's a number in the record books, and that number is 73. Barry Bonds hit 73 home runs in 2001. 73 balls went over fences. They counted in major league games. So the fact that they were done while he was using performance enhancing drugs, there were a lot of people using performance enhancing drugs around baseball. And I'm not trying to make some sort of equivalency where if one person does it, then that makes what the other did okay. It doesn't, but this is where it was inevitably going to end up, right? It was going to land on somebody who actually has a chance to do it, and a pretty good chance at this point. And it was going to make this already difficult discussion that much tougher because the record books say one thing, but the hearts and minds of a not insignificant portion of the sports fan base believe in other. So 73 seems unlikely for judge, but 62 is certainly within reach. He's currently on pays pretty comfortably to top Maris record. This could get kind of awkward for Major League Baseball, right? If judge gets to 62 and passes Maris, how do you think MLB will celebrate that achievement? Well, I think there will probably be lots of cheering on MLB network. And noted. And I think that there will be lots of questions asked to players, especially his Yankees teammates, who because they are his teammates are going to say that this is the real record, but in terms of a formal celebration, if Major League Baseball is turning its back on its own record books, does that not bring into question some of its other records? Does that not potentially invalidate other things that were done during the steroid era? It just feels like if you treat 62, like it's the new home run record, you are opening up a Pandora's box that you will want to shut as quickly as possible,

"One hundred percent certain of that. I could still think he blames it on the players and he believes and brian cashman in the way that this organization is being run from baseball ops standpoint. He trusts cashman. Like he's a son okay. Brian cashman modest will have a hyphenated last name of cashman steinbrenner at this point. You're not wrong in that way. And and i understand that. I get it. He's been in the organization for a long nineteen eighty six. It's a different situation. The guy started. He was an intern as getting doughnuts and coffee. Okay he was getting getting like freaking costanza at a local bronx deli and in now. He's the general manager of the yankees and has in some in some ways. He might be the favorite the favorite child of george. What if he's the favourite charities. What if what if. How ted lasso here and going internally and trying to like you know minimize the organization to appoint drive us all insane. Maybe maybe there's bad reasonings here. Maybe there's there's some Some spike going. On and brian cashman is the son. That george always. Maybe he's georgia's son from or maybe what. Brian cashman just like wormed his way into the will and somehow like like inception george until exciting away. Actually all the power to brian. Cashman and hal steinbrenner. Even though he is a figure head has no real there. That's that's a data. that's a good. That's a good conspiracy theory. That and i could see i could see going down to at this point george. Sign something to be on seinfeld to actually beyond seinfeld than it's really not just like a waiver. It's something a little bit more than that. I mean if that came out. Twenty years brian castro took over the general manager in nineteen. Ninety eight this long time to be the general manager manager. Whatever you wanna call in one position in one franchise that's a that's like unprecedented run. And yes obviously had a lot of success. The first wave of championships. He was the general manager. But let's all be honest. Those were not his constructions. Okay stick michael. His construction was more the mid to late two thousands team even though it was still the core of the core for all drafted and developed by the michael era. Frank cashman added the finishing touches to that. Two thousand nine hundred. Unfortunately they only one in two thousand nine. I think maybe we think of that era differently if they backed it up with another championship or something like that after nine but then this two thousand sixteen. What's called the two thousand sixteen rebuild right at the trade deadline. This was his was his mark where he's really got his fingerprints all over it. I remember i forget the year but cashman was potentially going to leave and he kind of convinced the the yankees organization to go in a different directions trust the analytics trust player development. Let's invest there. Let's not just go out and sign ever free agent that we can sort of return that every single season because that's not sustainable and then they still did stupid things like signed jacoby ellsbury and brian cannon carlos beltran in one offseason. But hey that's neither here nor nor there you just put you just a analytics and player development in the same sentence in the same category did you. Did you mean to do that did you. Do you think that they are synonymous. I think that's that's i mean that's a number that was that a documentary or like an mlb network feature were brian. It was like inside brian. cashman's organization remember this. I'm making this up. I remember a bunch of people in the yankees organization being interviewed and they were just preaching analytics and player development analytics as far as how you find talent but also you need to invest in the draft and developing players. Because that's a sustainable model okay. So they're complementary they're not they're saying there's a senior. I'm saying that you need to have it both running in parallel with one another to have a successful organization. But you can also that still spend a ton of money at the major league level. I mean i think the yankees should be using the dodgers as the model they should not be using the as the model. This should be using the dodgers as the model. The dodgers spend the most or if not the most in baseball and they always have a good crop of young players coming up. they're very analytically driven. They're a good a big market team and for a decade straight. They've been a world series favorite in the national league. That's what the yankees should aspire to be. That's what they should be with their resources and their their organization. I mean the dodgers won in a short year. So you could argue. That hasn't went to the world series in seventeen eighteen. Okay i understand if you get to the world series then a few things can bounce the other way and then you can. Maybe call that unlucky. If you're the dodgers you say we made it to the world series and we lost to a team that was proven to be cheating and then we it to the series and lost to a team. That was most likely cheating in the same way. Because alex cora was running that team. Okay unless you get into the dance advocate and kashmir narrator. Don't have set. They're telling us they're close dude. You haven't even been invited to the dance Okay so back to Back to what. We were talking about the fact that they are not they have not had their press conference yet and why that is so. It's way or another they're either prepping the blowback for keeping aaron boone. There or prepping for all the questions. In why aaron boone did not succeed with this current team and what. The path is forward for success in the current roster that they have right. Those are the two scenarios. I say all sorts of scenarios on the pr wildcard scenario three. Is brian cashman is not returning. I still think that that is very farfetched. I don't think it's gonna agree with that. But that that is a scenario that scenario three in which case that is a salary very different press conference. Because it's not. Brian cashman talking. It's it's hell talking in that press conference right. Yes that is a different debt is a different beast and And and knowing knowing whether they've been working recently they'll probably go for the m- find a manager first and then hire the gm kind of the way things feels like it's backwards But i don't. I don't see that happening. If you look across twitter bryan hoke a number of other number of other guys that i've seen klapisch sedatives. Well a lot of them. Have good guys that. I trust that have good vibes. Tentacles into the organization are saying that. That boone's going to be back. So that's what you know. The the the whispers are saying. It's it's that that would just be status quo. And i don't know how you can be okay with the status quo. It's it's and it would be on the back of a new deal. I know that that's that's a. That's an important piece of this. Because right now they have an out. They have an exit. It's very clean. there's no contract. It is what it is they. They actually have to put him on. The back of a new deal probably four-year year deal. You're basically saying this is our guy for the rest of this these this player core the rest of this run. Aaron boone's the guy. That's what you're saying so correct. Yes that is that is that is. Because we're talking about boone. I wanted just we. I freaked out about the close. The gap comment that i that he said after the card loss and we didn't have much context to it because it was just a tweet after the game but when a review the exchange so lindsay adler. I know lindsay's been on this podcast. And i think she always ask good questions and an pushes pushes right. She pushes for for the next level yet. Not all reporters do so props to lindsay. She said you said that. The league is closed. The gap with you guys. Do you believe the way your team has played over. The last couple of years has played like a team. That's been really leading the pack in baseball. Fantastic question aaron boone. Looking back to two thousand eighteen in two thousand nineteen. I feel like it was a few teams that were you know a feel like we were on. We were one of those teams like truly capable and really razor thin between us winning the world championship in the red sox of the astros you know the last year was obviously a little different in odd in whatever bilton excuse twenty twenty cova dear but this year we just can't we just say like between us and competing for a world championship. What do you have to say us. Winning the world championship. That's that's such a a big difference for me. It just the two shows that you work close to whittle okay. He believes you. Ross having a caliber roster to win it to compete for it at a high level safe things like that. Don't say that you were close to winning it. Because you weren't he goes on. But this year i do feel like there's more teams that are on the come that the way that are way more competitive with us that have closed the gap with us. It's not just the raise the red sox and the astros anymore. It's the blue jays. It's the central teams that are coming. It's the mariners and the angels. These teams are on ground with us and we need to keep getting a little. The angels.

"Pinstripe. Show with your host. Rotundi and scott ryan. Let's go what's up everybody. Welcome to the bronx pinstripe show. We're about. I don't know we spent a week almost right just six days. The yankees got their butts. Kicked at fenway park and their season ended and we have heard crickets absolute silence. Nada zippo from the yankees organization. Normally we get that season ending. Press conference where brian cashman and aaron boone. Tell us how close this team is there. Just one bounce away and then they they were going to be world series champions. That hasn't happened yet. that could did. It happen the week after they lost last year Rich i saw tweeted out Rece- kauffman said. It happened five days after last year and obviously that they let it breathe this this because they ended on tuesday. I thought maybe we'd get it friday. And when you do it on friday you kind of berry anything right like because that's like pr wanna one especially from the yankees organization if it's going to be bad news and bads and you're going to be feeling bad questions. Try and minimize the press conference as much as possible. So you do it on a on a friday before a long weekend because monday's a holiday for for many people in their jobs and they got the nfl and everything like that and the mlb playoffs. Like i thought they just like slip it in at four o'clock on friday afternoon and then she's like gets buried in all the other crap we haven't had it. It depends on what you deem as bad news. Well this is the thing wanting to be buried. That's the thing is. I don't know which way they're rain on the bad news front so people are people are as bad news if he comes back or is that bad news in there is if we get an you know a job. So here's they're they're obviously taking their time. Because i think they are making their discussing internally. I think if you're going to bring back aaron boone and you can't do that press conference until you absolutely know who if aaron boone is coming back next year right because that's the first question that gets asked is aaron boone under manager in two thousand twenty two. You can't say we're still deciding. You can't do the press conference if you don't have an answer. No i agree with that. So they answer either by no and if it's no okay then they're gonna go through the hiring process. You don't have to know who the manager is if it's no but it needs to yes or no it can't be up in the air if this is still up in the air and this is something that they don't know which way they're going i i again throw my Just throw my my my puzzled hat on my puzzled face on because you should know which direction you're going at this point whether it's this was not good enough or this was good enough. Let's keep going. You should know that by now. It is what it is. There's not a lot of decision making that goes into what the situation currently is. I mean i i. Don't you either have convictions. One way or the other. What if there's no middle ground here. What if brian cashman is trying to talk. Hal steinbrenner into keeping the current staff in place. And that he's trying to tell them that we're still on the right. Course this ship sailing in the right direction we had. We just had an unlucky year. What have cashman is trying to convince hal of that throwing my mouth a little bit the look they did have some unlucky parts of the. There's no doubt about it but at the same time if you have not had this discussion throughout the year throughout this entire the course of the season if this discussion was not a fluid wants something that was happening then. You're not doing your job and how doesn't have control or the you know. He's not pulling the trigger one way or another. That's the problem here. One of the one of the biggest problems that we've talked about all year long is accountability and it comes from the very top and with the lack of accountability. Usually comes the lack of decision making and actually going forth with something that you believe in to set the course in one way or another. They've been digging around in the middle this that the team is unlucky. The team is getting better. The talent is there. We don't know they're making a major adjustment at the trade deadline. Which way are you going. Which way are you going. And how unfortunately just doesn't to have the initiative the moxie the bulls to come out and say that this is a problem and we need to change course or he doesn't believe it which is a bigger problem. I just don't think he treats the yankees like we want him to treat the yankees because his dad. George treat it like any fan who we talked to would treat it. Where i'm going to do anything i can to win every year. That's the number one. And that is the only priority health priorities. Yeah winning is is on the list but also running a good organization that makes money every year is on the list. I roy is. This is a big reason because if it okay if you have a team that is a good place in that i have the fans the business will work. The business will operate well. It's the new york yankees. You don't have to do that much to get into a good place. You can actually just change a little bit. And i believe that they will actually create a better product. That is what's happening because the public perception of the product right now is bad and when the public perception of the product is bad. And you're the new york ke's you're just of resting on your laurels. You're resting on the fact that you're the new york yankees if you actually made some tweaks and showed that you're within the century and and you understand the game of baseball today and you're trying to quote close the gap on the rest of the league early. Then maybe then maybe your business model and your business will thrive even more even more. It's never going to be banned. The yankee to play devil's advocate. What is hal is looking at it. Saying we came off two thousand nineteen where we were. We were the second best regular season team and then we lost in the american league championship series possibly to a team that was cheating and then we went out and signed the best free agent on the market. Twenty twenty is a throw out year because it was the kovic shortened season and then twenty twenty one. We just got. We've got a little unlucky. He put it on the players in june of this year. Now maybe he's changed his opinion in the last three months with how the season actually played out in specifically how ended..

"Offers. Page to find a special offer to receive a full free year affect you l. Don't miss out on the chance to gain your betting advantage during this football season. I guess we can call that takeaways and for look ahead. I don't know that we have five. We kinda throughout the friday. Fives format this week. But let's just talk about. I mean there are some injury updates in some some guys. That might be coming back to help this. This pitching staff mostly in the bullpen. Damigella herman jonathan weisgall luis. Severino could all jameson. Diane actually could all come back within the last two weeks of the season and they were all likely bullpen options obviously elisa was always a bullpen option but severino because of his setbacks is only a bullpen option. Her mind boone said he could be activated this weekend but limited to like forty forty five pitches bullpen option or at the very most an opener and jamison tie on still has not. I don't believe according to meredith still doesn't have an actual timeline for return. So you don't have a time line for return. It's september seventeenth. You're not going to work your way back to being a starting pitcher at that point no but again we discussed this fill last week before whenever it was. It doesn't matter no if you're starting pitcher if you're a relief pitcher your your pitcher and they're going to get through a game as they need to get through a game. I think the biggest thing. Well first of all the liza is starting to throw today friday right. Today's the day. So i don't know how much he needs to get back. He's just starting to throw again today. So even him coming back for the last series of the season i think is pushing the last week of the seasons. Probably pushing it if he's just starting to ramp up again depending on how long it takes them to get back up but they they said they shut them down. Said he's no throwing for ten days ended up being eleven. It's all about if he feels pain if he starts throwing again and feel soreness that he's not coming back he screwed. He's probably is gonna need surgery or something so so this is all just give him time to hopefully recover and then it doesn't matter if i mean i guess you need. You need them as soon as possible because you need to win games. But if he feels any discomfort after throwing he's he's done he screwed back up a little bit to get just to get his. The shoulder in. Nicosia starts throwing in two weeks. I know if he throws today the seventeenth and feels good. I'd say over the next five. To seven days he rehabs and then he's back for the final stretch against boston toward throwing from out. He's just throwing his role. Just a relief pitcher. He just needs to throw one inning. He needs to throw fourteen pitches at a time. I understand that but he also has to execute those pitches. Otherwise we're talking about this don't you. Can't you can't slow plant. You have to kind of get a ramp up. I get that but at the same time. They're they're not gonna risk any injury with jonathan elisa bottom line. they're not. They're not going to risk him. Coming back to early in a relief appearance for a frigging toss up season. They're not going to so i. I don't think they're going to push him along fast. We'll see we'll see what happens. I don't know. I'm curious to see how long it takes them to ramp up for me when i'm looking at these other guys. Domingo hormone coming back on saturday potentially this weekend. Saturday look feels like the day. Right you have lucille going Who knows what we're going to get from him. He's been very good last time. He walked nineteen people. So if that's the last time that was to starts ago last time out was the minnesota game where he gave up to two two run home run right of her sitting gay so so he's come back to earth a little bit and we may i expect to see her mind in that game if he's around for the weekend like that to me feels like the right thing the biggest thing. I'm looking forward to right now. Is is probably corey kluber because if the yankees don't have another viable starting pitcher for this last stretch there in really really. Rewrite big troy. What does it matter. You can't win a you can't win a playoff series with only two starting pitching not even a bad bullpen dude. We can't talk about playoff series right now. We have to talk about getting through the last two weeks of the season. We'll you're not gonna win. These are essentially playoff series. Okay you play regains against boston. A three-game series against toronto. You have to win those series if you're going to make the playoffs and you cannot win those series with two starting pitcher pitchers and a bad bullpen. Yet that's exactly what i'm saying. My point is we can't look to the playoffs yet because we have to get through. This last stretch have started okay. They're in the playoffs. They just played a playoff game against baltimore last night and they lost because of a wild pitch the the new york. Yankees need corey. Kluber corey kluber in the beginning of this year. We all we all saw what he was for the first couple months and he was like you know reprogramming getting back getting back to like level getting back to the norm so that he can start like actually being effective. We need corey kluber at this point. He's done that for a few starts. Now he's like tinkered and try things out tested and he's done all the things that he needs to do. He now needs to start trying. And we need to see the guy that went out there and threw a no hitter. We need the guy that is out there going six seven innings that came out of absolutely nowhere like holy shit corey kluber. Is he back. That's the guy that we need right now. We need that right now. Because if we don't have that the yankees are in trouble did a. Did you see boons post game yesterday. No i have stopped watching boone. If you are watching boone's post still to this. Point of the season tweeted this a week ago. You're a masochist. You something wrong with you stop it. Well i just watched the minute clip On the mlb app. Boone spent a. I think it was a minute thirty. Click he spent a minute eighteen of the minute thirty talking about how he was proud of the guys for having good at bats. They just got a little unlucky. When was this yes yesterday. I whatever i look i see. I've seen some. Obviously what people what he says because they see people complaining about it or like tiny little clips of him. And i know he's been throwing guys under the bus recently. He's like blaming people he's talking about he. I don't even know what to get from anymore. He was asked if kleber dogging it on a particular play was a reasoning on hold was not acceptable or one of the reasons and he's being honest in that way but then he goes back out there and plays because there's no accountability on this team after a short little if he thinks that that was accountability that that was good managing because his defense is trash night. Exactly be because he was afraid that he hurt his feelings. And you can't have. You can't gleyber torres we've learned is a baby and if you hurt his feelings he plays even worse. Laboratories is about to have a baby. He announced that they're they're having a he is far too young to have a baby. Isn't he like twenty three years. Old people have people have kids. Young people have kids young as a baby and his also a major league baseball player. Not everybody's on the same track that's in quotes. A major league baseball player includes i think that they. I think you have to move on from gleyber torres at this point. That's how bad he's become. I don't know that he will be able to rebound as a new york yankee. Because i think he's mentally weak just like clint frazier's mentally weak and that's why if things don't go clint frazier's way he just completely cowers. And i think the same thing for gleyber.

"I guess i'm just frustrated because the the team that has ninety nine losses out fundamentalist out executed the yankees. Yeah it was a good one and then would you have played the infield back with one out and bases-loaded for double-play. Not that that ball chopper would have been a double play anyway. But they had the infield in so that leaked through. But it's like do you play the second baseman in the shortstop back to try and get owners in the bill i wouldn't. I don't think i wouldn't mattered it out. I don't play them back. But i played them just straight up. It wouldn't have mattered. That would not have been a double play ball it was hit too softly but whatever it's just corners again would have been in any way. This team has no. They have no chance they have no chance and and it's also like they're lucky to have won the the wednesday game. When gardner gets the bloop single we talked about labor's based on either great up. I it was it was like why were they in that situation. Oh because gleyber torres made a boneheaded play in the field when he knocks down allowing drive could have had the runner at second base by a freaking mile and just ignores them and throws to first base. It's like immediately k. And singleton her like. I have no clue what what gloria was. Doing aaron boone wasn't what he was doing in after the game. wasn't made available to the media. So we have no clue he forgets situation baseball. And then just make stupid mistakes. Why is he on the field in the eighth inning of a one game. He needs to come off the field in eighth inning of a one or two or three run game you cannot let glacier tours is awful defense and awful situational awareness. Beat you. you're right. There's no excuse for him. Being out there boon boon was waiting for tyler wade to be able to pinch run right because he knew they would blow it and then they'd have to pinch run. But if you just put tyler wade in the game it wouldn't have mattered. They wouldn't have needed that extra. Well that's you know he's he's. He's playing chess baseball. Yup it's you know. I mean labor the fundamentals. The simple things that that you are taught as as a child. Even the dads are coaching. T-ball that have no idea what they're doing and they're just out there because they need a volunteer. They understand that the things that you tell these kids are react. Don't think react don't know where you're going before the play happens. This is something that has drilled into your brain from the second you pick up a glove and the second pick up a baseball and for whatever reason gleyber torres cannot do that. And you know i. I don't know why we have to continue to talk about him. All i do know why because boone keeps putting him in the game and he's in situations where he can hurt us. That's why because boone's an idiot. He shouldn't even be starting never mind playing in late innings. Don't start him anymore. He's not worth it. It's not worth it this year and another thing. Don't do stop pitching chad. Green in close games late three zero throat. There's no one else like there's nobody there's somebody else. I guess anyone else flip. But here's the problem. Every game is close. Every game is close so at some point this this guy is going to have to get in there and give up his home run. The last three appearances he has allowed a game-tying or go ahead home. It seem last every single up here in this well. It's been the last three and he's allowed. Fourteen home runs this year. Fourteen as a relief pitcher. Not it's just a relief pitcher as a late inning relief pitcher a guy that's supposed to close the game out or hold the game to the closer that's his role that's the guy and he is just given up bombs left and right they're whistles. Did you hear any whistles for that homeless. I it's and i understand that if gleyber tours just makes the right play. It wouldn't have. He wouldn't have given up the home run. But it's three consecutive appearances he's allowed a game-tying or go ahead home run and fourteen home runs on the season. The do just sucks. I got no words for for what she agreeing has become. I got no words for which green has become unprintable. That's what he's become. That's the word for it fifth inning. Sickening you say maybe maybe they need help convert him back to a starting pitcher. Yeah i got a. Dm from jason. He's he's he's been listener for a while and he submits nobody questions and he said it he's thinking about how girardi used to us chad green. He said oh. Georgia used to use them for multi days off. He's off to haven't done that since two thousand seventeen so i understand that. We've talked about that before. Yes that's when. Chad green was at his best. That's also win chad. Green was new basically new in the league. No one had seen him so so that could have been why he was so effective but they haven't used him that way for the past four seasons. So let's stop thinking they're going to start using them that way again. No i mean. People evolve as as players and pitchers and teams change. So you you you. They get melded into new roles. That happens with everybody except for closer. Sometimes they get moved into closer roles he is not the closer type. We have established that. I wanna talk about the basically dealing to reliable starting pitchers that the yankees have dirt jordan. Montgomery i garrett cole. He returned from his injury. Through hundred eight pitches and five innings allowing seven baserunners. He didn't look sharp. Do you feel like garrett cole has had a cy young season because he is in the him and robbie ray for who's going to win the american league sale i mean do you can't you can't look at this team and go through what we all have gone through that this year and put any accolades on anybody to be honest like it doesn't feel it doesn't know you'll like cy young. You're it doesn't feel like an mvp or for anybody. It doesn't feel that way because the team is so unbelievably frustrating. It doesn't feel that way. The roller coaster takes those emotions away. Almost so when you look at what garrett cole has been yeah in moments felt like that guy. He stopped times. He's also shown up in sometimes and what he's been hurt and we see ovid cove it and like i. It's just hard to you. Just say that it feels sticky stuff. Exactly it's it's hard for me to say that he feels like that guy the first half before that bef- in four stickies july through the through. June hell yeah. He was dominated. I agree but so. I think he's got a good chance to win the got a good chance to win it. Yeah he leads. The american league in wins. So if you're an old school voter he's got the american league title and wins. He leads in complete games. Which is i don't know something. People might like any leads in fifth. So he leads an advance metric as well so he kind of checks all the boxes for for all the all the voters. But then i look at like i kind of dive into his season.

"It was Ray romano coming in a must-win park and they'll make bill brooks christie spike in balls left at scene that was. That was the hardest. I've ever had the watch anything. I can't believe what i was watching there. I i still can't believe that happened. That's okay so yes you can blame boon for putting those players shouldn't be in those positions in those positions but it's also the players who should never allow those positions to happen right. The top of the rosser that need to play better right. His team is actually going to do anything. This year So but like. I said i mean i'm happy. I mean i'm not happy. I wish the team had a tag game division lead but where they could have been where they are over. The last two weeks is night and day. They still have a long ways to go. I mean they have to do well against seattle here. They they have to win five out of these seven games against seattle in kansas city. And then go to chicago in not swept. That's the goal here for the next ten days But continue to be on the bad teams what they have to do when they've put themselves in this position where they have to do that. There's there's no more fucking now there's no more owed tip your hat to this guy who has a fifteen already but you shut the yankees down for four innings the anymore lopez. Builder that basically that. That's exactly what happened boone. Said he he if you if you heard him speak after the game you would have thought that it was nineteen ninety-six greg maddux. They say so. That's dot can't believe you still listen to all the press conferences i do. It's it's the funniest it's it's the best. Tv show every night. Like when there's the thing i'm like. Oh my god three outs than i. You know i get. I get close up the house ready for bed. Get in bed put on that in. It's like ten minutes of just the funniest stuff you'll ever hear it's unbelievable. They need the to put themselves in a position when they go to oakland for four games at the end of the month. That split is totally fine. Yeah that's what i have before we go. I'll run through kansas city in seattle. I lumped together to win five at seven there. That's not unreasonable. Baltimore six games last at lost. The other night hurts but they have to win. Five at six The white sox. You just can't get swept you can't happen angels. Four games left as have that. Make up one game at home. When three out of four. The boston in tampa series are keeping. You have to win but all thriller series. You have to go forward to against boston to one against tampa. That's probably the hardest thing they have to do. Oakland you can go to into toronto lauren. Three cleveland to one nets to unwind. I mean they have to win all the series pretty much except for one if they want to get to ninety six in the window division and then the twins braves rangers nine games there. They have to win six or seven of those it. it's doable. it's not outrageous. It's just the put themselves like. I said in a position where you cannot have one one bad day or it's it's off. If that happens that would be a pretty stunning turnaround for a team. That's been wildly inconsistent to this point in the season so it all happened. I think it ends up being like a six eighty. Five win percentage since the all-star break which is the yankee teams have done things like that they've gone on runs like that but it's a good with this with no all his idea. Yankee started off vertically if you think back to what was it two thousand eighteen when the team won like eighteen nineteen like crazy shit like that. They need something like like right here with this thirteen game. Stretch like they went through against miami. They went to three gets baltimore now. Seattle now kansas city if they go like eleven to hear that does wonders for this pace and they can even screw up a couple more times down the stretch. But it's tough but it can happen. Hey i needed to happen. They if this team gets wildcard spot. It's like gets a second wildcard spot lose burnt coal and then he can't fish the game three or four. It was a waste of the season anyway but if the team is playing better at the end of the year and actually wins the wildcard game and then can is playing well into the first first round of the playoffs that i don't know we'll forget about it if they win. But you're right. If they lose because garrett cole had to pitch wildcard game then it's obviously. We're all going to be disappointed. All right. I know you got to wrap it up. Neal thanks so much for joining and everyone listening if something crazy happens tonight because we're recording before thursday's game. I'll be back on to talk about it all right. Thanks joey gallo with his signature. Yankee moment according to michael kay. He dropped the signature. Yankee moment with the three run home. Run in the seventh-inning to give the yankees the lead they held on dear life. They held on Chapman made interesting as he usually does. Wouldn't say he was hit hard by any means in the ninth inning He certainly maybe didn't have his control but Couple of weird fluky things and then the ball of the warning track at the end the yankees got the win. So obviously i'm recording after. I just do the podcast that you heard with. Neil thanks for coming on. He we had to cut it short a little bit so ended a little abruptly he He also just had a baby pretty recently. And i get to go. Go watch him so we had to wrap up fairly quickly but Again thanks for neo for coming on. Go check out his show kief to the city he does it Pretty regularly Covers all new york sports but Definitely yankees as well so they. They came back. they beat. they beat seattle a game as neilan our talking about these are the teams. You absolutely have to beat if the yankees are going to make the playoffs. I still think they're most realistic chance to. The playoffs is through the wildcard..

"And of course what star. The knicks are going to be trading for next right here on knicks film school. Do you know what pissed me off from. Yesterday's game is rizzo. Has the fourteen pitch at bat in the first inning and it actually gets it ends in a walk but like crowd is on their feet and their subdue s- in the building and the judge twenty twenty-seven hopper to the on the first pitch. It's like awful announced three straight out at that's the yankees put together in big spots between judge and staying in labor and when when hicks was the team earlier in the season. It's appalling it. Just i don't know and that's why i say night. But that's that's why. I said a couple of minutes ago. It's like yes. The additions of gallow and rizzo were necessary. And i like them both and on paper. The lineup looks way better. Because you can. Go lefty righty. and it's just. It's just rizzo doesn't strike out as much. But then you still have the holes in the lineup. Where the hell's gleyber torres. And when the hell is he gonna ever show up is on the podcasts. I just did With derek alvin Yesterday when is dj. Lemay who gonna turn back into All-star player so gary sanchez is now kovic so you have hagi. You know he. I know he's he's the is. Apparently he's the best receiving catcher in the history of baseball. But guess what he can't hit so so so the lineup. Everyone chirps outline. They're like see it's like if you have to point out every single dime the guy gets on base you should recognize. There's approaches like which is what like twenty eight percent of the time to overseas giancarlo. Giancarlo gets a big hit. You again billion people saying what is your criticism of. it's like. Yeah you if you have to point out when the guy making thirty two million dollars. It's a home run. That's a problem. So i don't want i don't wanna make this just a bitch fest right. So let's talk about something that i actually was excited about this week. And that's louis. He'll he'll soft g he'll He had a lot riding on these days. Not ready so the show look like he had electric stuff. i think. Mlb pipeline graded his fastball. Seventy five out of eighty so if you believe in the in the scouting and all that kind of stuff. That's an elite fastball. with a high spin rate. That's i mean. It's this is one of the pitchers that had been on like their their list of like good stuff kind of pitchers but like when are we ever going to see them. So i was very excited. About what i saw. It was a great debut. I would much rather see him. Get a few more starts than andrew heaney. I don't need to see andrew handy. It was a lottery ticket. I think maybe they lost out on berrios. The price is too high. There were some reports. That cashman was looking at trevor story to the deadline. The price was too high so they had to sort of pivot to different plans. Okay so andrew heaney is someone that you can just sorta get off the scrap heap and As a lottery ticket. I know what that lottery ticket is gonna turn into. Let's let's say lewis hill pitch for. Yeah i mean this is a guy who the continue to say is not ready. Even after his dominating performance like the first yankee to have whatever six innings the no run six strike as they do since like nineteen. Twenty years and people are still after the game like. He's not ready as change. Needs to come along if he's not ready. Thin fucking twenty people. That i've seen pitch for the yankees. This year aren't ready because the guy dominated a line of andrew heaney couldn't even keep in the ballpark and i know the orioles aren't good. And if we were to go out there and face the astros or the red sox or the blue jays maybe he might get rocked. But he didn't face the orioles a team. That heating has been in the league for years now. Couldn't get out against. Keep them in the rotation vinny sent down after the game. I know it's like rostrum manipulation. I mean i hope he comes back. He doesn't come back off. That's crazy he's got to get a start against seattle. He has to. Yes who who will see you. Starting in you have confidence. In who else is deserving of a spot. The thing that i can't stand with the yankees is they've done. This for years is whether it seniority or money owed always takes precedence over performance like esteban. Floreal comes up. Guy is unbelievable for a stretch here after the all star break is him and greg alan singlehandedly. Carry the team to four wins and five games and they're like banks for all your production but we're gonna go with ryan lamar brett gardner up there rather than you like. There's nothing you can do to keep your spot i was. I was ready to see a tweet. That writings was getting set down the other day and they for the for the minor league shuttle in that nick nelson was going to be back up. Because that's sort of what this team does. It's all it's incredibly frustrating. And i'm with you on it that it's frustrating but if we're if we're worried about roster spots number twenty three through twenty six making or breaking this team then this teams in bigger trouble than they got to be. The top. Half of this roster. That's going to carry this team to the playoffs or not. Let's hear the the bottom of the roster is what it is. I think every team probably has these same sort of annoying things. Go on and we're just close to the yankees. And we hate aaron boone. So we so. We're frustrated with how. Brian cashman has maybe developed this roster. So we can. We can bitch about it a little bit more. But but i'm way more in the camp of aaron judge needs to be better in big spots. Dj the man who needs to turn around giancarlo stanton at least. He's playing the outfield. A little bit more now right like the. He played that he played the outfield on monday. Which gave judge a. d. h. day voice should be returning like what are we waiting for mean. It's going to get injured in the minors. At least let him get injured at yankee stadium like don't let him get injured in scranton. So call him up. D. h. input. Stay in the outfield. And let's just let's just go. Let's just see what happens. Yeah and i really the bottom. You know the last roster spot shouldn't matter twenty six roster by eight does because the manager puts these guys in situations they shouldn't be in so you might think to the last two guys in the bullpen. Don't matter but when you're in a fucking tenth in game against the phillies or the red sox and there's a guy in second with no outs those are the guys that he's using the pitch because everyone needs their time off. Even when every game is a muslim game right now has been i mean. I'll i'll retract that. Because i hate when people say now as if like april games didn't matter like they didn't have any impact on now but boone finds a way to use the bottom of the roster in big spots and so every spot on the roster matters because you could be the twenty six guy he'll find a high leverage fought for you. I mean was it We were joking through text message..

"I felt that before. He even got to this team he was. That was the kind of energy this guy put off. He's always having fun but he's locked in o'neill talking about him and his approach over the weekend that i thought was really interesting and how how much crowds the plate and can attack the outside the outside corner. His splits against lefties are better than his splits against righties. The guy has the ability to get to the The the pitch inside so quickly basketball so quickly that that now. He's able because of his hand speed and the bachelorette he's able to crowd the plate and cover the plate. He's a very difficult out when you're when you're looking at him from either side of the plate and that guy is just different from the people that we have in our lineup. Right now you put you. It's not just a lefty hitter. It's different hitter altogether absolutely and put him. You put him next to lemay. Hugh and judge like damn. That's three guys that that can really not only work account but get on base in different ways. And i love that for the top of the line up. Do you think that the moves of so the gallo move you could actually argue is the yankees doubling tripling quadrupling down on their philosophy of high on base percentage. Guys swing and miss guys. Who are gonna hit a lot of home runs but the rizzo move. Do you think that was just the yankees being opportunistic. Hey this guy is available. We can get them for a couple of prospects cubs or eating his salary a yet. Another kind of amazes me that the yankees got joey gallo in anthony rizzo and are not paying a dollar for them like. I almost don't believe how that even crazy. That was what i was saying on friday like. Give brian cashman credit for making these deals. In the way that i don't know how the market dictated if this was becoming like the the common deal across the league where people are just paying the contracts to get a better you're paying for prospects that's what the cubs in the rangers are doing. They're paying the yankees prospects in the nationals. I mean the nationals. They treated trade turner as well as user so and they got a haul back and the absolute hallback back so there was definitely capital being delivered on these trades on the on the in the minor league On the minor league side of things. My my question though is do you think the yankees with rosa was the them being opportunistic..

"It's how much is it really improved. But i feel like rizzo's lower strikeout rate another power left handed bat that you can stick between eight and he led off between the one in the five spots in. The lineup is a huge dynamic shift for this lineup and just on paper. I know the games are plutonium pooper. If the if the ak yankees are on paper chase the yankees would be ten games up in the deficient right now. I mean their off-season champs for years running the yankees are so i understand. They're not they're not played or one on paper but just like optically looking at the lineup. It's so much more balanced. There's so much of a harder way for opposing pitchers to just attack the lineup. And it's frustrating frustrating thing with this with this team in the first half and maybe even in previous years they could only really win one way and when that didn't happen you knew they had basically no chance and that was just so frustrating to watch from afar from from sitting on our couches. Watching you agree. It's just like okay. They didn't hit three home runs tonight. So they're likely not going to manufacture a run or get a big hit in the eighth inning opposite field from rizzo is just like those sorts of things didn't happen on the team in the first half of the season and i didn't expect them to happen at least now some new blood in there some fresh meat in there. Some different things are happening. And i like that. Yeah i mean you mentioned you touch on rizzo's ability to put out on ball by you know by mentioning the the low strike fifteen percents strikeout rate which aleve is eleven percent less than the yankees team average which is which is unbelievable and the guy the guy can. He controls the bat well. He's again a gold glove defender from last year and looking at the numbers and short time when he was on that two thousand sixteen world series team. I mean the guy. Just performed in the clutches. Well he didn't strike out very often in the nfl. Or the world series. When when i see that guy. I see someone that i just have a tone of confidence in in big moments and not just because he showed it to me this weekend..

"So far has nineteen and i could see debbie garcia if they truly punt on the season like less call debbie garcia. He get ten. Starts you get nine more starts and kluber can never come back. You might never pitch again. I'm not ruling this out. I mean you have on an kluber. So it's it's gone could tie on his nineteenth starts okay credit ability again. It was a kickoff credit and then the last one is super specific. And it's i guess. It's still possible. And i guess it's still possible. Yup saturday september eighteenth is going to be brett gardner appreciation day Saturday and saturday october. Second is going to be john sterling appreciation day sterling. I don't think so has rebounded. I think he is not happy about. This is like a mary auto or jeeter dot leaving on an injury. He is not going out like this calling from a tv screen. Be in the goddamn stadium. He's going to be waving to people not happening. But i don't think dope here's where you're wrong. There's gonna be no appreciation. People love record. I had someone tweet me ask just young monument. I had someone ask if brett gardner is going to get a fucking monument. Who has monuments received ruth lou. Gehrig joe maggio mickey mantle. Those players have monuments and someone asked me if brett car dealer is going to get a monument. Last week would look good. He would look good on monument alien head not exactly all right so we're gonna bergener take an l. for all verbal predictions. This time it will never bring them up again. This season unless aaron judge wins the mvp. Then something good happen so we do have a couple mailbag questions. The first one My guy brian fischler emailed me he He's a great guy. He's been on the podcast. I think once or twice and he does the laugh for site. he's He's a he's a comedian. He's also blind and he's got a charity for for to raise money for blind awareness. And it's a laugher said. I went Three years in a row. It's it's really an awesome time. But he is just fed up with the yankees says. I absolutely despise the entire twenty twenty one yankees team same here. It's absolutely unimaginable to me. That i could hate a yankees team this much. See the only way of fixing things is to not make the playoffs. Get rid of boone. He says the tone for the dead bunch. The entire philosophy of the organization needs to change. I do not think. Steinbrenner will fire cashman. But i think it needs to be done as the entire system needs a reset. You think the entire yankee system is broken. I have no doubt. The yankee system will f- up the martian. Look what they have done to. Every other player torres sanchez and do our other young players. That seem to have gotten worse over the past few years. He says go sox seriously. I don't mean that. But i think it's the only way to fix things kind of what we said in the first half of this episode. Is that just blowing up. Yeah start with the manager and see what you could do at least give us Some semblance of a season to refer the. Yeah it's not not not a majority of yankees fans feel the way. Brian feels in the way you have expressed you feel and how we feel or that. 'cause i still see so many fans on twitter and twitter's assessable but i see so many people still trusting the process and it baffles me. No there's no process to trust at this point. He's just gotta make a change man. I'll tell you what watching looking and seeing these Following some of the reporters are down there watching dominguez. All the time kid is lighted up already. You know in the in the in tampa where he is right. Now i will. You can't you can't not nothing's gonna happen this year. But i'm saying i'm saying he's an exciting player. He's living up to the bill. So far in the first org i Real ball that he's that he's played in like the kid. Looks like a a man amongst boys. I would not be surprised if the when you see a kid like that. Like a lot of times in in baseball the players also physically mature to get to a point where they can play these next levels right over the past two years. He's so far beyond the the his is physical ability that you should be at that at that age that there's no reason if he continues to just keep up them up and see what happens. There precedent for come up in thirteen twenty sewed bryce harper. These players were nineteen years old when they were playing well in the major leagues. So i think jason dominguez is what eighteen years old this year. Because i think he's seventeen. I think he's still seventeen. he's either seventeen or eighteen. He still think he. I think eighteen if he if he's eighteen just turned eighteen. Recently i believe either way seventeen or eighteen years there is eighteen. He turns his birthday february. He just turned eighteen this past february. Yeah so next spring training he will be nineteen years old. He should get a major league invite to spring training which will and then who knows maybe second half of the year he can if he rakes in aaa cole. No yeah i mean he may not even go to aaa aaa. You might go like to go. Those step-by-step well then then blitz. Let's hope that some Changes in the organization is overhauled..

"If he's not good then you get him out of the game. Nobody says he has to keep pitching what he's bad. Do better get him out of the game. Try next time now. i just can't get past. I can't get past that move the fact that it's a third time in the past two weeks that lifted a leaving a guy in too long a clear obvious chance to put a put a stop on an and he just doesn't do it just sits there with a stomach is ass and watches the game. What what do you think. Because this is now. His fourth season managing. How is he not improved. Move hold on not being sarcastic. It's just like enough. Gotten better at his job. He doesn't have the instincts or he's he's not using what he sees in front of him and he's relied too heavy. So there's no improving or not improving that you either are listening to what a book says or you taught the instincts and the i the ability to look at something and make an adjustment. Okay but don't that's not going to get better at that you just be adult. Can you play the piano. Why massive fucking piano. You asked me if i could play. I sat down today. Would you know how to play it. Of course not no but if you took leslie chopsticks if you took lessons for the next four years you think you'd be not you know how to play a little bit you. Could you play a song if you took lessons for the next four years. Yeah okay. Chad memorized aaron. Boone sat down in a pano in two thousand eighteen in to play and he sold off the where allergies this driving. Is the driver at the five hundred or zero fucking musician trying to play games. Do open heart surgery or your doctor. You our surgery. No i would never attempt scott. I don't okay. I'm gonna say something that might be controversial. I don't care about this team anymore. I don't care what this twenty twenty one yankees team does. I don't like them. They're not fun to watch. They're not good chasers that but that's but that's the mentality of a lot of people right now so you know what changes that something is different. Change the voice that will change that that will immediately change that and then we guess what we have to look forward to and makes a difference. This guy has is. It'd be nice bit different. "When do they play oakland again. Do toronto is five games. Cleveland is six and the anaheim angels are seven and a half. So i've got to got a new baseball begun to name the name of the wildcard. I call that six six teams vying for that spot that are within two and a half games of the yankees who are four and a half games out from. They play the as august. Twenty six four game series. That's next i in in oakland or here think in oakland in oakland already played oklahoma four games in oakland. I mean the west coast thing doesn't matter anymore the sport for you mean. There's always a west coast thing with the yankees. They go to the west coast. Just since i was a kid. So so the problem with the yankees team and no problem it or the problem is i think they're going to hang around just barely enough for them to not call it a season so they don't think they're gonna make the place at this point. This was the most important stretch of the of the season. And i know they technically one last week getting the red sox they won two out of three and then they won both games against philli but the manner in which and also you. This is supposed to me off. You got to get rid of the manager. Because he's actually holding you back without the manager. The team is better right now. If you go to choir someone the managers gonna fuck it up. Change the manager. You have to change the manager to make this team better. You want you want to know what i wanted. The all star break earthy also break at the trade deadline. Learn a new guy manager. Can you actually manager. I don't just give of him. It's fine it's addition by subtraction. Here in and give somebody who actually knows that the game of baseball. Forget the knicks at this point. They gotta see what's in front of them. They got to see what's in front of them and make decisions based. What is currently happening. That i need a guy who knows baseball. Who's done this before. Who i don't care how old he is. I don't care who he is. A guy is listening to nerds. It's got to be a guy who actually understands baseball in situations so that they can actually manage this team because the talent on this team it is there. It is there and boone as the guys in far too many times in the past three weeks that have blown just like absolutely gut wrenching losses. Give me a new manager who actually manage a frigging baseball game. Scott you say. The talent is there and i semi agree with you but even had the yankees won today and split the series..

"Fine bloop single maybe. Maybe that's that's not his fault then to pitch to frenchie cordeiro oh to pitch after. The guy tried to bunt and then swung and missed wildly. He an oath to pitch right down the middle of the plate. That is the moment you need to take him out of the game. He doesn't have it. I knew he didn't have it. You knew he didn't have it. Everyone on planet. Or listen to watch it and i know he doesn't have it. Everyone on planet earth knew he didn't have it except aaron boone. And that's the problem with aaron boone. He point point. How baseball real quick and a baseball game when you're in the middle of baseball game and you've got to use your eyes to see what what what you do as far as decisions at that point. What does that first and second. That's i had second runner in is that is that accurate and then and do the to two runs in at that time right i i i in second. And then he then he gives up another hit so at second and third and he brings britain in and and you know what the red sox do. The red sox do something the yankees could never do. They scored two runners without getting hit. They grumble on the infield tie. Game on the infield. We hold on is it. Grab on the infield against against britain. Wild that's crazy. Isn't that what they're supposed to do. And they had a forces around first second you bring that guy in so grab all your second and third. You're just giving them a sacrifice ground ball that's all you're doing. You're giving them a run at that point if you're bringing britain in for that that's exactly what you're doing. He doesn't go guys. He doesn't know his guys. This is very clear. These guys are very different people. We all know what these guys are at the end of the bullpen. Some of these guys are fly ball guys. Some of these guys are strike out guy. Some of these guys are guys. Britain's been a ground ball guys entire fucking career. That's she's he's this is what he does bring him in. There's no reason not to bring a minute. Outpoint that is that is that is a manager. That does not know what he is doing. Doesn't know baseball doesn't know baseball. I need nothing else. That's it you gotta you gotta finish this game. And this guy's may. I don't even know what he's doing. Some managing not watching. It's not he. I'll tell you what he's passively. Attending the game he is. He had a plan to spoon. Had a plan going in and he was going to try and fit the game into that plan and it didn't go according to plan and when things don't go according to plan for aaron boone. He can't manage his way out of it because he's stupid. He is a stupid stupid little man. He's foolish stupid little man. I don't. I'm trying to find words here that that are not just making me mad but as as we're as we're talking about it it's making me more mad because the the obvious the obvious the most obvious situations are right in front of you with guys and it's not even like a mystery. It's not even. It's not even disguise good at this and this took his ground balls that's it. He's good at. He's very good at what a waste of hormone start. What a waste of a season like what are wasting our time. Okay again like. I said the yankees. I wanna world series this year. And they're not gonna make the place. It's a waste of everyone's fucking time this. This is what they're doing at this point because this is what we have. They're chasing oakland. they're chasing a wildcard spot. Stop at this point at this course. At this point you have to go after one spot. You can't even look at anything in the division. You just gotta try to win every single game and you're not gonna catch champa or boss. Whoever tampa or boston is first wildcard. You're chasing the second wildcard spot. That's very difficult. It's oakland oakland is the clear. It's oakland is four and a half games. Seattle played half games bala..

"Problem with a lot of these yankees players. That get hurt is they. They have so many injuries that pop up. Because like you said the style of of body that they have on the roster and those players are more susceptible to little injuries that can put you out below the eighty five percent or whatever percentage you wanna say to to just get out there and grind to a couple of games. What when you say endurance to think the first thing people think when when when when the word endurance as they're thinking about like lung capacity the ability to stay in something a long period of time and basically but but when you when you think about endurance for baseball and other sports in general to it's also about like the endurance of your muscles the endurance of your legacy endurance of your flexibility to be able to to twist in a way a lot more times than than it would be so being being flexible being nimble of being a little bit more of a pliable body if you will that will help your endurance throughout your body up and down and not just to do it in every day for six months. That's right. I don't think i think people i hope i've i've not Given this impression that playing baseball is. You shouldn't get injured playing baseball or something. Because you're not literally crashing into each other like you do in football or you're not jumping and dunking basketballs and landing on your knees a million times in but to do it every day for six months with very few off days and the travel sitting on these these airplanes which is not comfortable for these guys were all over six foot four all massive humans and they're getting on a plane at three o'clock in the morning and they're sliding on a plane note guy. Yeah and then you go to a hotel and you sleep for a couple hours. Google play but like the grind is different. But it's still a grind so your body needs to be able to endure that. That's what i mean by endurance. It's not. I need to be able to go run twenty miles. Well no i think it's just a you know when people when they hear a word i think sometimes it goes to that because that's the way to use most common in other athletic success. Yeah yeah and and and baseball is the sport. That doesn't require a week off. Like football doesn't require three days off like basketball. I get it but it's still. It still does take a certain kind of endurance that i don't think a lot of the players on the yankees roster. Has i sit at my desk a lot. For a long time and periods of time. I gotta get up. Stretch my lower back to make sure it doesn't even doing yoga like giancarlo didn't they. Off-season die shabby. I really should be. I absolutely should be. But i'm not but the endurance can depending on what you're doing for for a life skill to alter your endurance you've got to alter your trading so that you can be. Durable endurance is just the word durability but stretch out terrible. Gotta be durable. And that's something that these yankees are not what about doing. What would some of them have been doing. Well what what do they do. Look for it because this is now two thousand nine hundred injured with the core. Two thousand twenty he. He played through the foot stuff. Now he's been on the. I l. three times in two thousand and twenty one. Are we going to run it. Back with luke. Vote in two thousand twenty two. Just cross our fingers that he stays healthy because guess what he's not going to. Well i think that's the for his under arbitration. I know his contract is is advantageous. Doesn't twenty-five i know that he's one of these. He's one of these guys and you're not gonna ever pay him because he's on the older side so he's going to be a free agent at what thirty three years old or something like that. It two thousand twenty five thirty four years old he'll be a fourth arbitration years in two thousand twenty four thirty three i'm looking at his fourth arbitration here which is which is because he was a super two player. But do you do you. Do you try to trade him. Because you're saying well we can't. We already have giancarlo locked up. We probably wanna sign. Aaron judge long-term. We have all these other injury problems. Let's not get ourselves in another situation with luke void as an injury problems. See what we can get for him. They get maybe get a pitcher for him right out. Don't it's not great but maybe in the off season but why it's still a good hitter. Okay he's a good hitter. Yes that's the thing when he's playing he's a good hitter. So i'm not gonna look around and say if we can find another good hitter. Who has as more body endurance. Just like figure this guy out a little bit more understanding that we also have some roster flexibility with the guy that we signed for for the rest of his career essentially with dj. Lemay you like. I think you actually plays into this. You don't do anything with at this point for me. These controlled for till till thirty four years old. Keep your arrest so you cross your fingers. You cross your fingers next. You tweak some things you try to adjust to it. You've gotta you try to get get into a you. Don't think they've done that you don't think they've tried to tweak you continue to do that. You continue to do that yes. It's not just a one time tweak. Hey guys. the baseball hall of fame reached out to us to talk about a new campaign that they have called hall of fame connections. This is awesome..

"Yankees. Somehow play better than that. We're really good on paper. We win the off season every year in a row for years running yankees an actual series. Win against the red sox. That hadn't happened to him. One game against the red sox also all season. Almost a series win mean. Is this series win. The when the first game is played later on yes that other game. the doesn't retroactively. Come back to this for game series. That'll be tacked onto the series writer so this was a three game series and they into the three outstanding three in a row. Three series wins of substance that. I'm nothing bad happened otherwise losses. This is exactly what i'm talking about. This is exactly what's what's What's going to get me back in the game here is when remember what i said gonna see. You wanna see some sustained winning. I wanna see something bad happen. And then i want to see them bounce back from that and that's exactly what's happened so far short series. I understand that we have. We have a two-game set coming up with the phillies and then an important three-game set with the temporaries however adversity has shown its face in many ways over the past week in the in the form of a meltdown in decimation a meltdown in in houston and then also a roster decimation as you say due to the vid virus and injured but but what happens. The replacements are playing baseball like good baseball fun baseball. So it's cool to the excited that the yankees won two out of three. I'm excited to visit. Potentially it's prolonging their season. But can we take anything away. These are not the players that are going to be on. The these are players. Greg allen tim lou castro your greg greg. Allen has a chance to stick greg greg. How's guy on guy. He's a red sock killer. He's a guy that obviously Fits the makeup of this team. He's exactly the opposite of everybody else. Which is perfect. Exactly what. I wanna see when a guy who can run the basis make a lot of contact and just do his damn thing and let the other guys do do their thing and that's totally forgot. They had like he's he's been off and on. He got hurt early on because he was supposed to come up early days when the mark came up but he had just been put on the i l. for something unfortunate so he's had some bad luck i think with a little with being nicked up a little bit in the early in the season. Didn't he missed his opportunity. But you know something that a rod said last night and one of the only time. I'll agree with with with with alex. I thought you know what i thought. He was good. Last night he was bad he was very bad. In most cases there were a couple little things that he said that to get into it. Just admit it. It's like a western his old western. It's of which. Are you know. I i had for listen to senate. I haven't watched sunday night baseball. It's pretty much all season. I think because. I think the first time the yankees were on sunday night baseball. I listened to the game so this is the first time i really have listened to an era broadcast this year and i kind of enjoyed myself. Maybe it's because the yankees are winning. I don't yeah and you miss you. Miss the fact that it was just comical. Probably because i fully got that part. So but what he did say was you know they were. They were talking about joey. Gallo as a as a potential traitor guy that would fit this team. Beautifully and a-rod adamantly said no disagree he actually is exactly the opposite of what this team needs. I want on this team. And i think what this goes back to is a little bit of the old school baseball mentality and era is is that type of guy. He's been around the game for a long time but he understands baseball to to the core of its off when i when i conveniently think he understands baseball. But in this particular instance he's looking for is that are complementary to the other playable guys accomplish mobile complimentary baseball. That's that's all we're asking for here. We're not talking about another guy who goes up there and swing for the fences. Every single time consistent. Oh much re baseball. And that's what we got last night at this point. I'll take joey gallo because the alternative right. Now is an outfield of lamar. Alan and brett gardner. Now a couple of the guys like you talked about making contact running the basis. They stole still two bases last night. And i'm pretty sure he's got He's up there in the league leaders in scranton as well. I saw a tweet from the yankees. We've talked about this season. It's been talked about everywhere. The yankees are the slowest team in baseball. They don't take extra bases. They're not athletic. It's just station to station and then double play balls happened. And if they don't hit the three run home run they don't win. That's been the first half for them. So last night we saw guys running making contact. There was some bunce. Chaumont head. Dr him okay. Hit in home runs. But you can't have a full lineup of bootlegged yankees playing small ball. You need a couple of guys. Hit the ball on the park. So if you add. Joey gallo to the small ball. I think it might be okay. I think we might have something here. Of course are judge is gonna come back. Jewish l. is gonna come back so the lineup next weekend against the red sox could look far different. I mean that lineup. They put out last night on paper. Lemay state and sanchez torres. Fine cool getting's amburgey. Who's out now a gut. This poor guy finally gets called up plays. A game is crashes into the wall. Acl adore lamar. Who aco it wasn't Knows it was castro. He he caught up all in left field and stayed in the game and then he mixed up. Amburgey crashed into the wall. Later in the game. Right amburgey pulled up with a hamstring or something. There is family. Castro's off this okay. So i i totally got mixed up. Because because of because they're all say guys because who are these guys okay. We'll ever been around for a while. Give him show some throw some. There's some love to his name. He's been a minor leager for awhile. Hemming gittens are the guys that have actually been you know in the geeky system for quite some time and have earned their way up. You're not that the other guys have earned away by any means but they do. I better the game. It was lamar that crashed into the into the corner right correct. And he's the acl. Wrong let me let me go. Let me go. Through the the bootleg yankee outfielder for you to castro we got we got via trade the diamondbacks another another little sneaky. Move by brian cashman catches the ball in left field. Crashes against the wall catches the ball stays in the game and Is is then pulled later in the game because of the acl turns out. Acl's done he's done for the year. That's unfortunate. that's the first guy trae. Every trae amburgey was was. I believe a hamstring or something like that. Just not feeling right out of the game. Lamar crashed into right crash into right field in the state negates. The outfield state in the game. Booming out there. Lamar said i'm saying in the game. There's no fm coming out in this game if you remember no more hours. We'll know if you remember his first time up earlier in the season he he did something that knocked him out after that first game like immediately so he didn't get the opportunity. He referenced that in the post game was like. I'm not leaving. I'm not leaving this game. of course i'm not leaving. This game stayed in. The game ended up stealing a base later. He's he's all good. So but down to outfielders down the castro and down amburgey at at this point and now we have lamar gardner allen.

"Fan like tune into what's happening but i mean i sort of grown up. I sort of stopped playing baseball like watching as much. But i'd say i wonder casual fan so in that sort of knows what's going on enough that they could talk about like stats and players and stuff like that. I feel like if you can talk specifics. You're more than a casual fan. If you talk specific that's why that's why i said standings and like if they're winning or losing where you're definitely going to a game for more of a social thing or or so. You can post it on your instagram story. Or you know you're going to the chicken bucket or yeah well no because if you know if you know the food at yankee stadium now now we might be talking as a different level. My wife leeann knows about the chicken bucket jr. okay okay. food hold on. I gotta tell you the story. So dern corey kluber is no hitter as the eighth inning or something and leeann comes to the room like the yankees pitching no hitter tonight. And she's like what does that mean that means the team doesn't have any hits and she was like so. The yankees pitchers only thrown strikes. A mike know that means he hasn't given up hit. She's like buddies. Probably throwing a lot of strikes right. Well yeah and i got it down to the dumbest possible level that i almost second guess myself i was like she was. She technically what she said. I was thinking how is it a positive of normally high of strikes. How's it possible. You've you've known me for six years you've consumed so much secondhand baseball yet. No little it's like. She has i if you like you acquitted secondhand smoking. She's secondhand chain smoking baseball at this point and she still knows nothing about the sport. It's it's amazing for sport it if you're not paying attention to it if it's just on you you have no idea what's happened is you don't know what's happening. It's like another language. But i know more about the bachelor. Then she knows about baseball. I was just going to compare that. I was just going to make this comparison and i don't watch the bachelor okay. Okay i'll go next so so bevan's for the first date that bevin and i ever went on the first first date she it was We knew each other through like Like rex sports stuff like kickball volleyball. Things you play after college and you're just trying to be social. I knew her through that. So i new shoes athletic. I date was like a joke thing. We went and we hit ground balls to each other. You've told me this story and it's funny every time. Magin that bob date. What are you gonna do bring your gear. I wasn't really dating. Hey no i was like all goes. She played softball and college. So we went and she laid out for a ball but then rate their she dove for. God yeah what. This is ridiculous. And that's the moment you know. That was literally the moment. I knew it was like this has the now we're done here but seven have more to me. She duped me athletic. She played sports. She played she's good at softball doesn't she knows the game. She knows the game cousin watching goddamn second of it doesn't watch a second of it as wait a minute. So we're not watching. You're not gonna watch any of this. You're not gonna pay attention to any of this like the to. She knows the news. You know so. The people are she. She knows game. She knows the sport like she could talk about it. See that's important knowing if you know the game if you played softball replacements to be a yankee fan. I'd like i want her to be a yankee fan. So that we can just go said it'd be much easier for for for my household to have a kid grow up in it watching the yankees all the time. Even though i'm going to chain him down to the couch. And watch the yankee games but it would be easier but if you said to bevan the yankees are pitching a no hitter. She wouldn't come back with so they've throw it a lot of strikes.

"Do i think that's how were you not expecting this. Of course this is going to be my first question. I mean i'll have to go with i. I like scotts. I do like scotts. Outside of the broad nick nelson. I like the optimism with judge. One hundred forty games fifty home runs. Mvp above that. Clint frazier big. Fan of clint frazier. I'm just swag got swag. I'd love to see him. Have a good season and german. I saw that one resonating in the in in bob. Turns is when i was saying to to win this question jer. Montgomery i'm optimistic for him as well. I'd love to see him. Have a really good season and yankees going. Seventeen in two orioles. I expect that. I don't know how bold it is because i think they should go seventeen into against the orioles orioles. Just go nineteen zero sugar. They should they should exactly what happened two years ago. Yeah i do. I do like scott set of right all right well. We also got some listener. Submissions to at inc podcast. Twitter wants to go through some of the good ones not the not the bad ones the ones that you deem to be bold enough to read on the podcast top for scott. React to the fight. Get into the top three. I'm going to say my one bold prediction. Which of course. I i think gary sanchez is gonna be the home. Run leader i. I'm i'm really pulling for gary comeback season. I'm i'm all over the the gary comeback train. I think he's gonna hit thirty eight home runs. I'm i am taking into account the fact that i don't think judge stanton gonna go this season without him. The i l. for a significant amount of time Obviously i don't hope that happens. I hope judge hits fifty home runs. I hope.

"Has made the roster. I mean everybody that was going to happen as much as people didn't want that to happen. Everybody knew that was going to happen. Because but i will. There has been some We got a real five back over here now holder who also play shortstop who's known for his glove former believers a first round. Pick back in like he was. He was one of those. Those early picks that the yankees made on the infield that that had gloves but never really panned out on the offensive side which is exactly what they have. Three guys Ceo culverts another one. Who did that. It was over holder and weighed all three. All three guys could play defense. Offense was never there. And i think that's that's where you if you look back at the way that they've drafted shortstops. You see a pattern there but a guy that can that can play the field well and you know maybe he can handle the bat a little bit better than wade. It could be an option down the road For those guys commando though again it would have to be. I think it's a situation where you know. The time just runs up on tyler wade and there's a guy that does similar things in and that's what happened so who knows. It's kind of a long shot but yeah it was interesting. It was of note for sure. Yeah and dietrich. All accepted his option. Down to Alternate site and also robinson street us. They resigned him and he'll be added to the alternate site as he's rehabbing and his initially was a six week timetable so that kind of puts him sometime in late. April i believe and they just needed needed the catching depth as insurance. I think so. We thought torino's was never not going to be an option anymore because of the issue but turns out. We might see him at some point this year. And it's a good thing to have a major league catcher back there. I mean he probably just didn't want to understand rehab And get everything back right and play again. But so that's why he accepted that or the option. And he's he he he understands that this first month or two or go to be crucial for the yankees and the catching position. So having that that major league veteran catcher sitting in aaa is a good thing for us for sure. Yeah because if if it does come situation where. Gary sanchez loses his job. I don't know how he's going to be as backup catcher. They might need to figure something else there. Well that's the other thing just having death in the backup catching position. I mean who knows anything could happen with hickey. As well having a guy like that does provide good depth and and they were very thin without. I mean there are still very thin until he's healthy but it's a good option to have anything else from spring training final thoughts before we move onto bold predictions and finally get to the regular season feels like spring training. Took six years the the pictures of the guys flying back over new york at night seeing the lights and i think geo posted on his instagram. It's it's just a it's just one of those check marks. You know what i'm saying like it's cool to see that it's called the city lights with these guys flying over you know with the With them coming back to the bronx. It's a longtime common so glad glad that that that is happening. And that we'll we'll see some fans in the stands. Tomorrow's gonna be a fun day garrett cole. First time. he's pitching in front of yankees fans first time. It's going to be great. I guess return real real for real so he can as he as he said. The other ones were dry humps. It's great quarter. That's a lot of dry helping the Can we confirm if there were pods on that plane. We got that tweet from someone like they tweeted a picture of of the of the giant plane. It's like come on. Can we get twenty six pods for these guys. It's it's a three and a half hour flight. North just customize betcha gives some get some get some pods in there. Let's let's learn from our mistakes. I'll never forget picture. You've giants on your. You have literally a number of them now. there's more share from. I believe it was the two thousand nineteen season of aroldis chapman sleeping on the plane and he had his feet like crammed up against the seat in front of him. Like all the chapin. The dude six five whatever unlike. How is this a professional baseball team. That's how soft tissue hamstring injuries by being cramped up on a plane for four five three hours. Whatever it is getting up trying to walk it off and just doing something a little different walking down those stairs crisp you know Two am air. It's it's it's a. It's an opportunity for soft tissue injury waiting to happen every single time. I hate it. You've heard us talking about it.

Gary sanchez new york garrett cole six years tyler wade April three and a half hour Three guys five this year six week two first round twenty six pods Tomorrow one first time three guys Ceo first month
