"It's not what it used to be is certainly not what it used to be an american. Clearly you don't have to market a white individual in order to elevate the profile of a sport in this day and age but do you believe baseball believes that i think baseball is starting to get. There was evidence of this at the beginning of the season. Where if you looked at applebee's twitter page one of the front facing platforms for mlb Their entire banner was a lot of minority places. Fernando tatis junior. It was one soto. It was ronald the kunia junior. Mookie betts they're starting to realize that what makes baseball different from the rest of the american sports landscape. Is this cultural diversity. The fact that you have people from different countries and i think you're seeing this emblematic in the game in the shift in the unrolls on the field of the fact. That backflips are now an acceptable thing. That self expression is now an acceptable thing that sneaker culture is starting to leak onto the field through Through the cleats You know people wearing jordan's on the field. People were painting cleats on the field starting to see the self expression on the field that you didn't see before it started to show that baseball has all these cultures come together right and baseball club in many ways is so emblematic in both good ways and bad ways of america as a whole because you see so much of the kind of cultural diversity and a segregation within the clubhouse reflected in in the cultural spirit of america as well in our current moment. Wanted to ask what you think about this real quick because a friend of mine who hosts his own radio show on urban view sirius. Xm radio channel one twenty six. His name is joe madison. They call them the black eagle. He's been around for a very long time. I've known a few years loved the man. He sent me a quote yesterday. He sent me something. I wanted to know what your reaction is to this. He said what do you call someone who speaks in you know. Basically this is a quote that he pulled. What do you call someone who speaks three languages trilingual. What do you call someone who speaks two languages bilingual. What do call someone who speaks one language american. That's what he said. That's what you sent me. Daddy sent me. And i was like the damn. It is true. And i wanted to know. What do you feel about that quote. And how much do you feel. A quote like that impacts the agent and the asian american community in terms of how americans in this day and age view folks who are from a different place. Then obviously the united states of america particularly as it pertains to this more debatable. Well i think we're starting to have a shifting discussion and discourse around what it means to be american in this country and i think that transcends the idea of sports When i was growing up there weren't any asian. Americans other than pablo tori and mina kimes and michael kim on on. Espn and now. I'm sitting in this position as a bilingual non-american warren person talking to you guys about what.

"A player ninety one you know at three one count at belt. High gidding across play kids today. That doesn't that doesn't scare them. Ninety ninety miles an hour does not scare them because they see it all the time. launch angle launch angles. Great if you have bad speed in you can kill you. Know you can handle those that that velocity that when you play at the high level the better teams have the better pitching throw the hardest times But launching we like you know we want guys back. Stay in the end the strike zone along time these flat level through the zone. Let's look for contact. Let's try to put the ball in play. Let's try to play championship baseball winning baseball We watch teams come in and they take batting practice. They're knocking the ball all over the joint and we run out our best arm and they run out their best arm and next thing. You know we're in. We're in a pitcher's duel because when that pitcher starts changing in a moving the ball around good pitchers you know not the guy that just throws ninety two. Can't find the strike zone. We love those guys. You know right. I mean it's it's just it you know don't get caught up in just that because that's not gonna be the what's gonna make you a better player now if you had those physical skills and you have the ability to work on it and you had those mental toughness of mental abilities The mental toughness to work through that. Then then you might have something but those are those are two things that are great. They're not gonna decide. They're not going to determine how good a player you are at the in in the long run so seems to me that like so many players are overly trying to reach threats. Thresholds of velocity and exit below. And you know these these measurable there like an end. You know maybe showcase baseball's to blame you know the internet certainly been a part of it You know it can open. Someone's is but you know have seen just like you that you know just because somebody throws hard or can hit the ball far and bp or looks great and batting practice doesn't translate to winning baseball in the game. That competitiveness that toughness that ability to recognize pitches to compete with two strikes. You know to be a tough out and to play situationally you know and not just get up there and hook and pull and see how. How many home runs you can hit as you mentioned Forty miles an hour. So i know. I'm interviewing you. And you're not interviewing me but i just want to Echo those sentiments known as a high school coach you know and You know. I'm really interested to know you know you coached you know my team in the summer thirty plus years ago about you know thirty one years ago now you know. What are the differences that you see in the players both positively and negatively. Because there's gotta be. I would think both you know. Maybe we just talked about a negative. Maybe there's another one. And what are some of the positives of they more physically mature or are they more you know. What are you seeing. anything positive. At all compared to thirty years ago from the players in general. There's always exceptions. Of course. well. I mean again in one thousand nine thousand nine hundred eighty nine You know i was just finished. My undergrad work a master's degree. And i wanted to be a college coach. Starts while is in a valley league trying to build a resume get experience and and that particular team. I mean i. I mean without going into every school that we had. I mean we players from europe from wilmington. Unc wilmington James madison appalachian state connecticut. Kid i mean those were. Those were the mainstays i would say of the players. I mean Now think about it. I mean those are. Those are not a household college baseball teams but collectively and a lot of these guys came back for two years and we stayed together. And i just don't remember. And i again i could be wrong. I don't remember coaching at that at that time period. Where you could visibly see a bad attitude like you candidate. You can pick them out. You know almost You ever the book blink. You know two seconds three seconds. I can tell whether or not this kid has this kind of attitude or not. And i think back then we we just played. I mean we really just which is blue collar In we didn't talk me. I don't know how hard we through i don't even know. I can't even remember us even talking about well. This guy throws this throw zach. We just wanted to go out and and put ball play. Drive the ball and situations don't strike out make the root team play and if you had a bad day you're out there the next day in that hot sun getting ground balls or take batting practice or working on your organ on your game today. You still have those guys. They're harder define I think there's just mean social media video you too. Yeah i mean you know everything you know. Perfect game travel ball. We'd have any of that back then. You know and You know you're paying for the scholarship. It seems like now it's did going out there and earn the scholarship The amount of money people spend to get to get exposure And then when you get them there's the mark they just been told over and over that everything's gonna be okay. Everything's gonna be okay but you know as well as i do that it's life is not that easy it's tough and it's not always a better roses diversity and being able to deal with that and a lot of these young men have been told and everything's okay. Everything's alright it's like the trophy. You get a trophy for finishing last place. If you not just participate of participation you know we didn't get those you got the trophy because you earned it in deserved it and i think it talked people that work working hard for a goal and you have to spend something to get something you have to pay a little bit more to get what you want. You wanna fly first class. Okay we're want to pay more. You're either going to pay now pay later so pay up front. Put the work in. And i think a lot of kids. Don't see that real one more thing i had. I think when the parents when they bring them in and the kid does the talking and the kid ask the questions and he's the one you know engaged parents. They're just to kind of guy maybe asked parent parental questions. You know as far as academics and you know safety and those types of things. But when i see a kid that's engaged with me. He can ask questions. We can have a conversation. Those are the kids that that that i think you know. A lot of times are really successful. And then i've had experience with The parents or parents and they let the kid that student athlete button. Big difference big difference between the old school which is which is may with the new school. Which is everything's gonna be great but guess what it's not and you gotta work at it some outstanding advice. They're really and you know. I love the point you made about the parents letting the kids be kids and you know. Let them do the speaking at the recruiting in know when they're in recruiting environment speaking with the coach whether it's on the phone or even on the internet right very like when they're emailing it's it's coming from the player and the player has to go to school. The parent doesn't go to school. The player has to deal with you. The parent doesn't deal with you. And i tell my parents and i any parent that will listen including the ones on our show here that you're being recruited as well when oh and you can easily to coach off from your son Because of your behavior in the way that you handle yourself so you know there's a quote very that says. Prepare the player for their path. Don't prepare the plot the path for the player again. prepare the player for the path. Meaning you have to prepare your son for the adversity. That they're gonna face and they're going to have failure and you allow them to go through it and grow stronger on become tougher because you've gone through it. That's preparing the player. The parents that are preparing the path. Don't want their kids. You mentioned it. They want their kids to be okay and they try to make it okay and heaven forbid they ever suffer any adversity or any failure. You know but sooner or later when you get the collegiate baseball and it's all about winning you know then it hits them right in the face like a ton of bricks you know like they don't know how to deal with it because they've never had to deal with it which leads me to another question just off the sperm head like how does the showcase mindset berry of you. Play here. I got these three innings. You know we're going to rotate positions all the time. You know how does always playing hurt a young player when they finally get a college and the best are gonna play all the time and you're not getting three and he's not getting three maybe in the fall. You might do something like that but when it comes to the actual season it's about winning right or expand upon your thoughts there so well the also the showcase the showcases great. Because you get to see arm. Get to see them showcase their abilities. That's that's fine. I mean. I kind of equated to the nfl combine. I mean just because you're on a fat. You know your fast in you. Can you can jump this high and you can bench press two two hundred twenty five pounds. This this a number of times majors should be a first round draft pick you know they are measurable that you have to follow but hit. But here's the difference. They don't learn how to play the game. They don't know strategy. They don't know situational baseball. They're not taught. I mean for the most part. The travel teams for the most part are not taught. They don't practice. They don't work on getting behind the runner. Getting the runner in from third vaunting. Those hit and run. What's the different run a hit and hit run. I mean you ask a kid that coming out of high school he couldn't say berry. Thank you for being on the show and You know we'll talk soon. Thank they're having. Dr very davis head coach of the division one rider broncs Berry was very adamant to our audience about young players being themselves and taking ownership of the recruiting process. And just how important that really is so parents you know what a tremendous nugget. We try to try to help parents understand this clearly regularly that it's the players journey. It's their experience. They have to go to school and deal with these coaches. They have to grow up while at this university or college. So it's critically important that they take ownership and every aspect of it. Yes you can be there to guide but don't take over because truly the colleges are now recruiting the player as well as the parents. So that's probably the greatest takeaway. He's right. A fifty game before and I want to say Kobe had fifty game before too. I feel like depends went fifty back days, and I think you're right. Yeah. Jamison. Those are probably his greatest moment in the sun. And he was the man. I liked him too. He got a bad rap because it wasn't Vince Carter, because they didn't, you know, were your repeated Indra Vince Carter. But I think he got a bad rep to I like them. Yeah, good player. All right. Well, here we are bunny, Joel. We're going to talk to Eddie Johnson from the NBA channel on Sirius XM radio channel we'll get to him at a couple of minutes. But I don't know just some last thoughts he think on the one thing I wanted to have mentioned. So I was looking at the ticket prices. Guess how much it is to get in just to get in the building. Standing-room-only copes. You take the first wing at this job got ticket prices up. I I'm gonna let you start. This is the highest price. It's ever been to get into our sticker for standing up for one ticket. He's got to hang out at one of those games in the arena. Yeah. Yeah. Essentially, that's right. You can try to figure out a way you can Joe, by the way. I don't know that they do this during the regular season. Do they do the Stanley rose? I don't here's here's my thing is when we're talking about people not being back in their seats at the start of the third quarter, when you're selling SRO's. That's a factor. If people are getting up to get beers or drinks at halftime. And there are thousands of people there that are SRO, people who are already occupying space. You're gonna end up with with long lines. We're going to say no do they do that every giants right base. Yeah. So I don't know about Stephen Damon. Right. Watching on TV. You gotta scrap you gotta find a little piece. But as far as. Four seventy five. I'll take a swing at this two cups. I'll say I'm going to double that I'm going to say eight hundred close to double I'll say eight fifty thousand bucks thousand and twenty one dollars for one SRO who about. Okay. And how about courtside seat some Piven for this one. I was going to give you a Walton thirst. And then I got Piven on ice. He's ready. Side seat one. How much is it? Let's go fifty five grand. Okay. Let me take a crack one courtside seat, boy, who's got a court. I how that even available, but for the Jay Z's of the world, I'll say one, I'm going to say one hundred grand seventy thousand oh, that's all different. It's a bargain. Actually Grammy to close at deal right now there's a minority owner seat available. The German name. The ring ladies and gentlemen, new minority owner, paulie MAC. You want to endorse the first ever cannabis night at the chase. Everybody gets a free gummy when they come in the doors Golden Gate, Golden State warrior, Gumy's Lowery in the first half. Only charge you half price. Connected for the second grand, how much like a regular one hundred level. You have those prices thousand get in seventy probably tens of thousands. I see the lower bowl, I would imagine thousand average price five thousand eight hundred twenty dollars for once the last thing thing, we'll have you check if you can if you have it in front of you. Is there anything upstairs like two hundred level like do they have any tickets? I wonder what they're charging for those, that's gotta be above the staff. Right now. It looks like you do SRO or your gun courtside thousand or seventy the altrusa post and Taylor, but five o'clock. And this is one of those nights where I actually do get it. Like if you have the means and you just want to have that moment and have the memory, I get like I kinda get it like most of us, don't have the means to make that kind of purchase. But if you do you know I get it is the final night, you can get a piece of that vibe out there at oracle, and it'd be curious. I'm expecting extremely fired up crowd tonight Klay Thompson called out for it, and I'm doing the same thing. I think I think it's going to be beyond electric, and there. So here's what we'll do. If you are just joining us, we are having our weaken review today with Dino Vidal, one of the funnier guys out there who also happens to do a radio program on Sirius XM radio channel one. Twenty seven deed. Appreciate you staying with us for sure. Let's move onto my other favorite story of the week, which I call Trump and the infrastructure melting. See, now I'm curious what you think really was going on in that meeting. I have a viewpoint on this, that I'm finding is not necessarily in step with others, but I want to give you the first was that all about. We saw a classic meltdown of the arch haired, white walkers, I call him Donald Trump who cannot deal with name slows, again, the best, you know, there's something it's, it's clearly not Nick, that morning using the term cover because obviously, they had the press outside set up signs. Right. So they had that, I sense that my fear is that Trump really want to do infrastructure deal. I think he really does. And that Nick Mulvaney that day. Two billion dollars and no one in congress that they're going to give him the money. So we had to save his own face from his own party, and this way of doing it and try and his view going on the offensive. It didn't work at all. I mean, even on Fox News, which in my studios, you know, you've been there, we have seen an MSN, Fox News, even on FOX that night after the meltdown. They weren't saying Trump got the best policy. They were sort of ignoring all the others were saying Pelosi got the best Trump. So it did not work at all how he planned. So my only views that it must've been he cannot deliver on infrastructure and wanted to show his base, I'm going on the offensive but I'm gonna walk on Democrats. It didn't work at all. It was a fail big NFL you and I actually are on the same page. All I put it down to a different person than you. But we're in the same ballpark. I think this is all about Mitch McConnell. And I think what you just said is exactly right. Trump could not get Mitch McConnell to budge. They went to Mitch McConnell, who trillion dollars, you know, people are forgetting that they had had this meeting with Schumer and Pelosi and Trump, just a few weeks back and they had all agreed. All right. We're going to trillion dollars to do infrastructure. All three of them were on the same page. Well, Nancy Pelosi could deliver her house on that. But when Trump went to Mitch McConnell, the just say, no man, this McConnell said trillion dollars. Dude, I wouldn't give you money stretch. When you paint the first time right after you got elected, what in the world makes you think I'm going to give you two trillion dollars today a year and a half before an election, go away. Try. And by the way, that I support the night before the meeting the blue Trump's into letter to Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer saying, hey, we're not talking structure. We're talking the US to the US whatever you call now. And because he was like, I want to champion this, I and I think the reality is he cannot. He's not control of his own party Jim playboy, on the congressman from, I think South Carolina yesterday when a leading house members who who's calling the shots here. He actually said it to him in, in a meeting because because we agree on things, and then an hour two hours later, and it might be Trump playing us or it might be really has. No, he's not really the lead of the GOP anymore. I think that's what it is. He's not going to put their neck on their line on certain things for him in spending two trillion dollars to make the Democrats look good because it probably would not doing it. Yeah. It's, it's so interesting. And I gotta say, I think the media is missing a big part of the story because it goes along with some other things that are worth mentioning in my view. Look, nobody's even know. Noticing that the, the Republican that the Senate where you have Republicans in charge. There have been two VIP two bills voted out of committee in the past two weeks. Two bills that were designed to try and secure our elections going into twenty twenty. Now, remember, these are Republican controlled committees. They voted out these bills, Mitch McConnell said, Nope, not bringing them to the floor, not gonna do it. He doing that. Why is Mitch McConnell saying no to everything with the exception of his priority, which is to ram as many conservative judges, and I'm being polite. When I say that down the throats of the Senate as he can why will Mitch McConnell do anything. Well, they did do disaster relief yesterday, if I recall. Yeah. Leading out leaving out Trump's money money. He's probably gonna. Senator Senator Kennedy, not a democrat Republican, Louisiana. We're doing not nothing in the Senate right now. For them guys who Republicans but used to actually legislate, I think they're even stunned by what they're doing. I think they should go down to part time status. They should lose their health benefits. This point, the guy to the Senate Republicans. And for McConnell look, you can be Republican and just say, no all the time, and you're being consistent with what you're basically, wanted to government, which is little as possible. In fact, less than that, you want to deconstruct, the government, while Democrats, we believe government can help you so, for us, it's frustration that they say, no all time base well McConnell's reelection next year. I don't think he's really any true danger, but who knows maybe if these get worse, could he beat? It'll be one of the greatest victories knockout, Trump in McConnell at the same time at twenty twenty so. We can assume that Mitch McConnell is savvy enough to know that doing nothing with the democrat zero even showing up our elections before twenty twenty is not worth it to put his neck on the line. Apparently, that's correct. Again, if you're just joining us, we're speaking to denote Madala. He is, of course, the host of the Sirius XM radio show that, you know, Madala show on Sirius XM channel one twenty-seven dean, in the short time that we have left another one of my favorite stories of the week. Do you believe that our president faked a disability to get out of the military? This is Trump who now is in the greatest shape of his life in his seventies. But when he was twenty one or twenty two he was unable to physically on capable to do. The job. Trump is Benjamin button president younger as he gets older remarkable. I feel better. Me too. Twenty two and we all know he played sports in college even went to my college. The first season went to Fordham university no-one afford claims him. I'm not kidding. He went to transferred to the Warton. There's. Any publication or any newsletter seeking money, even acknowledges that Trump win there for the first two years of his college experience, but he did undisputably play physical sports and he wasn't able to serve in the military and to be blunt. He was not the only person from a wealthy family to afford service in Vietnam. And that's what that was part of what wealthy people might understanding from reading about it. They did. And Trump just did the same playbook. So he faked it, I'm glad to people to judge who's veteran has the credibility to call this out and undermine Trump. I what do you think about the president making noises that he wants to pardon all of these convicted warcriminals from the various military services, people who have been through court martial for doing some pretty awful things, and now they're commander in chief wants to see. That's okay. Well, terrific. And that's just not me more importantly than me..
