"This play happened because I came out to play before. You just wanted to meet him at the rim. No, I wanted to. Well, that's the first point of that was a game? No. Okay, well, I just didn't want him to. I didn't want that to happen. Especially after I did the behind the back into the dunk and I didn't think it was going to get out done in the whole game, not I didn't think it was going to get out done in the first quarter at all. I mean, that's nasty. And to your point on the dig, it's a little bit half hearted, but you're right. He does need to stay attached to the shooter. Realistically, this low man here, not even the guy who actually does help from the cross wing. The low man probably needs to be the guy who's coming over to help at the end of the day. I understand a little bit why he stayed because Tyler is a knockdown. He was killing. Yeah. Okay. Next up, we've got this one. I think this is another one that really showcases the leverage you guys play with. You guys are incredibly explosive athletes. But your functional, you have great body control as well, like some guys, their explosive, they jump off a two feet, it's powerful, but they can't really do anything in the air. There's not a lot of hang time. There's not a lot of ability to adjust the angle in midair with your layup, like you guys love that little skyhook lay up. You love to be able to pump fake and then bring it around. Like, where did you guys develop that kind of body control? Is it just like a God given ability? Is it something that, you know, you guys really worked on throughout the course of your lives to really try and stay in control of your essentially limbs? Yeah, I feel like we worked on a lot of run into the basket and doing like a reverse layup or just making up layups. The falcon. We do this game where we take layups, but you purposely filed the other person and they have to still make it and stuff so you kind of have to do some contorting with your body. And also we did a lot of Mike and growing up. Yeah. So that makes sense. The other thing you guys do and I've talked about it a couple of times I've used the word leverage a lot on this podcast, but like, you know, just look at how low a man is getting here. Like a lot of guys that are your size, they try to, like, I feel like in basketball a lot of people are taught to stay big, especially like younger kids, they're taught to stay big. You guys get the most out of your athleticism by using your leverage and getting low in driving off of your back foot. Look at the way amen here is going to drive off of that back foot, right? And he's going to be able to just blow by this guy. And on top of that, you use your stride length really well because you're getting low, you're extending those strides out and it makes it even easier for you with your lethal first step to be able to get past these guys. How did you guys go about developing those skills? I think those might just be God given. I feel like we didn't really develop those skills, I feel like since I was small and not the most athletic jumping wise, I was always like, I always was like that. We were interesting. Because you both do it. I was curious if it was like something your dad taught you when you were younger, like one of your high school coaches, like it is a big important factor as you guys move up levels like just that ability to get the most out of your athleticism and the way that you do because there are a lot of really twitchy explosive athletes, but I think few utilize their athleticism in the way that you guys are capable of on the court. Now let's move to this 7th clip here, a sore. This is one where you guys were, oh shit, here we go. Here we go. Let's see here. Yeah, lost it. So this is an example. It's just like a little close up of you getting low with that dribble. Yeah. So I have a story behind that shot because there's a lot of times I take this shot in the season, like my dad was a big savior. Yeah, Michigan Xavier says, you know, one part of Michigan. So so when he was at Michigan, our dad used to make us watch the games and he'd be like, he used to say it all the time. If y'all could go add this because we would have like a mic in series that we would do every day. He would be like, you also go add this to the mic in series. A view of your because if a 5 11 dude could do it and never get blocked and make that a shot, then maybe you all could do it too. So we would work on that shot all the time. And it's funny because I actually, so I talked to Jay gore and he said he had a similar experience. I was just funny to me. We all got the shot from the same person. It's gonna be really funny if Xavier Simpson, who's that summer league right now, I've seen like a bunch of tweets from NBA writers who have just never watched Michigan, right? And they're just like, wait, what the hell is this? Like there's this 6 foot tall guard who's taking sky looks like in the middle of the paint. It's gonna be really cool if there's just like a group of teenagers like younger guys who watch Xavier Simpson, whose dads were grew up in the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar days and were like, you should add that to your game because I feel like that might be coming at this point. I mean, you're right, it's impossible to block. I don't know how anyone would deal with that. I mean, Alexander SAAR is enormous. How big is Alex? Alex has got to be 7 foot with like a 7 foot two wingspan. He's

"Anything on that? Yeah, so he's actually pretty good. He is now let me make sure I get this right. He's 26, so not super old. Shares an agent with Yanis so that is part of this, I imagine. He's a 6 foot three point guard. In the NBA potentially projects to play a little bit more off the ball, but that's okay because he's a 41 to 41% three point shooter. I'm sorry, 30, 38%, three point shooter. 41% overall. So not a great finisher inside. Mostly because of his size. If you look up his stats, most people will look and they'll see 3.5 assists per game. That doesn't really sound great. But in Europe, that's actually pretty good. That's probably closer to like 6 or 7 assists. And in the NBA, just it's much harder to get. It is past basically needs direct needs to be directly to a shot. In Europe to be an assist, it can't be. I pass it to you, took two dribbles, made a move, then went up and under and scored. That's not how it works. There. But just coming off a really good run with baskonia in Spain. So he's going to join the box on a two year deal. So this is the box, you know, the big thing that if I would be excited about if I was a box fan, is before this signing, they were 20 let me make sure 23 point million over the tax. Before this signing. So you're going to add, you know, it's not going to be a ton of money this year. It's only going to be a 100,000 or so. This year, but you're adding more money to your tax bill. And that says to me, they believe in, yep, they're in, they believe in him and they're in on this team, and so we're going to add pieces to the seam to go forward. Absolutely. Absolutely. Yeah, that is a great sign. And that's a good point. As far as them being an over the viewer, if you're in the tax, you've got to really believe that what you're doing is going to help your team. Because you're putting your more than just the contract up there, you're putting in the luxury tax payment up there as well. So that's certainly matters. Basketball wise, burden Forbes had a couple playoff moments for these guys last year. They may be looking at maybe, can have a couple playoff moments for them as a shooter off the bench. Absolutely. Then the thunder. Sign a couple of ten day deals. Xavier Simpson and Giorgio's caled zygis. Oh man, you were right on it. I'm proud of you. Well done. Look at that. I practiced. So I practiced it. Is that what you were doing all afternoon? Yeah, so here's the thing normally ten days are not allowed when there's less than ten days in the season. Because of the hardship stuff this year, they're allowing that to go in. So these guys are both coming in on ten days. So we'll finish out the year with the thunder and thunder have numerous guys who are out for the season. This is the guys who are out for the year for them. Darius bazley, Lou dorr, Derek favors Josh giddy, shade gill just Alexander, ty Durham, Mike muscala, and highly likely train man and Kendra Williams. So again in a couple more TV. Yeah, basically, right? Yeah, almost everybody. But hey, that led to point poku the other night, which he got his first triple double of his career, which is kind of funny to see that coming together..

"Have you had a conversation with him about getting a piece back at all? Somebody that you're turning to in particular senior leadership right now with a very difficult task in front of you, coach? Well, no we haven't had a conversation about it, but I've heard some talks, he said about this time, you know, reflecting on his game versus Philadelphia, what that moment is like being in the national championship game, but Eli Brooks, I just happened to mention about how he's elevated his play going to turn him in. And how he's been special leader for the Michigan basketball, not this this year. Last year and the year before that, you know, he's one of the best leaders I've ever been around. Xavier Simpson is being one of them. He lies, especially with players, but what he's had to do this year, not having Isaiah livers or Austin Davis or Mike Smith shiny brown from Wagner, this man came back to school for a reason. He wanted to win the NCAA championship and now that we are getting closer and closer in a one game at a time, these young guys, they want to do it for Eli, because they've seen all the what he's done, all the sacrificing. He's been doing this year with his leadership. What he's been doing off the floor, giving guys together for lunch, breakfast, working out harder to training room. I mean, sort of doing stuff like addition in the weight room. And practice when coach is not looking getting the guy together, getting extra work in. I mean, he's everything with Michigan is all about and I'm just so happy I get the opportunity. And I know that I speak for the staff when we say this to learn to learn from a young man like Eli Brooks. Because coaches after some of the best coaches and some of the best coaching happens when you sit there, you listen to your players and allow them to have a voice in their own culture. And then obviously taking out, look, I wanted to get a piece of Villanova, as you know, that already. And Conor Gillespie looks like he's a chip off the old de Vincenzo, man. I'm wondering how much you might be also leaning on martelli, who obviously was a coach while you were away. For 5 games, he must know Jay Wright, Villanova, Philadelphia, inside and out. I mean, correct? Yeah, coach. Yeah, can you hear me? I can, yeah. Yes, Jessica, Coachella martelli. What this experience around college basketball for all these years and also his success that he's had, I say, Joe's. Well, being in that Philly area and those guys pretty much as rubbed elbows with each other, know each other very well. He's also been a lot of the villain over practices and he knows that program like no other. And difficult a lot of credit for all the years he's been in Philadelphia, the Hall of Fame coach and his program has had a ton of success and they've won two national championships. That program has success because of Jay Wright. Well, at Villanova not made it, it would have been Michigan, Ohio State, Joanne Howard, who would LeBron have rooted for in that one. Do you think Joan? That's a great question. I only ask those as you know. He will be leaning more towards the Ohio State. Come on. What? Come on. You know, I think he probably will say that that no matter who wins, that he feels that he's winning. He'll go out to safe route, you know? Because of our brotherhood. Yes. Right. You know, relationship that we've had, you know, smiling even in a relationship, but we still have to this day. Brian has been one of my biggest supporters. Like when I was out for that two weeks, you know, he reached out to me and let me know how much he supports me and how he wants me to come out and be a better person. A person from this and grow from this and that meant so much, man, just to know that your brother is cheering you on and supporting you through tough times. Well, in that respect, I want to play one sound bite before I let you go, coach Howard. Chris Webber, yesterday, when I told him what it meant to me on behalf of all Michigan fans, I took the liberty to speak for everybody. What it meant for me to see him back, right? See him back in the fold and see him with the Michigan M on his chest and this was his answer to me saying that. I'll just be honest with you, seeing you next to ray Jackson and hugging out with juwan Howard at a Michigan NCAA tournament win and then you and the locker room and you seeing you at the block M on your chest wearing the gear is pretty cool, man. Speaking on behalf of all wolverines, glad to see. And on behalf of myself, I just thank the wolverines that were patient and the one thing that, you know, again, just one, I've never had any trouble with all of it's been there, but hopefully this is the start for the enjoyment of all 5 was to be back, which I think it will. And many more moments to share, but it was special my friend and thank you over the years for, you know, always pushing me forward for that. Of course. All 5 of you, huh? Hey, look, man, if Ray Allen and KG are hugging it out, let's go, Chris. If there's water under that bridge, there's no other bridge that can't water can't be under. You know what I'm saying? Okay. What do you think.

"And It was really cool. When i kind of said to mr president. I heard you can play some basketball. They will have to play a game one on one sometime. You know and he kind of laughs and he goes no. This is the guy this guy. You wanna talk to you right here and us referring already dunkin. Google play basketball at harvard university. So we just kind of shared that little quick laugh at the moment. I don't want to hold the line up too much but the funny thing was after i left everyone was coming up there and now i was doing this bigger hug. So i kind of set the precedent for all that but there. That was cool and you know we went to the lead eight later on in my senior date and it kinda came back to fruition in the white house ended up. Tweeted something how to this day. We don't know if it's directly from mr barack obama but at the end he referenced the one on one game we have played that game so at all kind of came full circle was was really really cool at is an insane story. It's funny because Imagine if you bought it in the guy. Whoever was it'd be as in the bs in the seat. Must have been like this so nervous. And then you have to the president He he was the man so so cool. Just that little a back and forth little quick banter and that of course. Naturally i did what that tweet so cool and think about whoever whether it's hammer the white house. Put that out over. So clinton just in terms of men with what you're playing now With with a tv teams that he played with in the past. I mean the redskins team playing with this show is a bunch of dayton alumni like Happening team. There's there's so much but that's super cool lead to go into their. Yeah we we. We've been doing now for. Excuse me this'll be my fifth year six Now we've done it. And i gotta give a lot of credit to joey gruden. He's done a great job of maintaining managing kind of putting this whole thing together. I've helped imparts kind of been to snag. But most of it's been joey and we got our main core that we we've had pretty much every year. Now we've added a couple pieces in devon scott brandon spearmint Went today in for their freshman year devon multiple years with brand new freshman year and then we got another guard from university of michigan xavier simpson. So we're excited man. I think we killed in a couple of pieces that we've really needed. We were in the final four last year the year before that he lost to ohio state. Who was eventually crowned the champion. So we've lost the last two champions of the tv not great. Because it's it's one and done you know your pedigree who you are as a player doesn't really matter here. It's about winning. That one game. And i think we put a couple more pieces in that can help us get over the top for me. Personally it's Showcase for people at home in the states for overseas guys because quite often. It's hard to find our games on tv and figure out what channel and what website so it's opportunity for them to see us here at home and get a chance to see how we play the game. So i'm excited Talk as you said it. I mean it might be difficult to find the games. I gotta find a stream like somewhere. We gotta find it. I it'd be tuning into these games. Funny you mentioned david simpson. I did a breakdown of him on when he was with casey during the g..

"You know, I guess right now, I wouldn't take anybody over Michigan and I wouldn't take anybody over Ohio State. I think Ohio State just playing lights out. I think what they did the Indiana Um, the other day were Indiana, you know, get up to a bad start and got close. And Eleanor. Excuse me. How station know we're gonna take this out on a candid about seven states it now that's enough, And you just really good. So if you put those four teams in separate brackets It wouldn't be stunning to me. If all four have made the final four. I think there is that good, But I do think Baylor and I do think Gonzaga right there, if not better than anybody. Dan Dockage from ESPN, one of the great college basketball insiders and also radio talk show host down and indeed joining us on the draft kings. Yes, I nearly healed show across Michigan. Juwan Howard. Is it in the easy Big 10 Coach of the year? I think so. I mean, look, you know if you didn't believe, And you don't know if you didn't believe before the game yesterday, and you don't believe now That's a you problem. You know what I mean? A hell of a hoot. I mean, that's just, you know you're mad about you. You manage You want for something he did when he was a player or something? I don't know. But that dude has brought this team together. The pieces fit, you know, people forget John Pesky played for a long time. Xavier Simpson played for a long time and, you know you look at what you want is done. You go. Wait a second here. They lost some big time players. I'm not saying they lost two pros like cash is Winston is eight years. Hellman, but they lost two guys that are the equal in terms of importance. To Michigan as those two guys were the Michigan state, So I don't think there's any question I usually say You got a way to the end of the year. You got none of that. Now you want Howard to me is the Big 10 Coach of the year. Um and I'm really I swear to you. I'm just really anxious to see how this plays out because they're going to play a lot of games. It looks like in a short period of time. And for me personally, I always go back to when I was a player, man. When I loved that, I mean, what the hell you want to go to practice hours? We'll practice how I won't play games. I come to college to play games. Let's go. So you know, I'm really kind of fascinated how that goes, particularly going into the You know, I assume they're gonna have a big 10 tournament. But, man right now, let's go. Juwan Howard got to be the guy coach. No question. Maybe it might be the coach of the year in the big 10. Shoot out on Sunday with Michigan at Holdman and the Buckeyes and Buckeyes basketball team Number four in America. No one really talks about him, even in big 10 country, I think overshadowed By the football program, but Hopman Hansel's guys, not a lot of size. They remind me of those butler teams. You know what I'm talking about? I do. I do. And you know what? They don't have a lot of size, but what they have a lot of Is really good players. I mean, look, EJ let down. I want you to think about this. There are very few, and I'm not sure who the other one would be. I think there's only been two Mr Basketballs. In the state of Illinois, who wanted twice. I think one was Jabari Parker and one was each angle it down. EJ Liddell is really, really good, and when you watch them play Um Everybody shoots it. Everybody handles it. Everybody can pass it and Holdman has done a fantastic job of doing this doubling in the post, some not doubling, some doubling on the bounce. In the post once in a while, doubling on the catch once in a while, he knows they're not big, and he knows he's playing in a league that has pretty damn good, big guys, so you gotta figure it out as a coach, why they pay big bucks. And frankly, I think he's done as good. A job is Jawan. They just lost a couple games of Purdue that I wish I'm sure they wish they could have back. But you know what credit you wanted? Haven't lost a couple games, anybody. They stopped their toll on the road at Minnesota, But who the hell cares? That's gonna happen last undefeated? This 76. So you know you're gonna lose a game. But I think that hope men and I think Michigan have done a great job. Not a good job. A fantastic job through the pandemic. What a you're in the big 10 Dan dockage in the heart of Big 10 country. Joining us from the Indianapolis area. You also could see him tonic aims right through the tournament's on ESPN and always appreciate the insight, My man, my best to you and your dog. Should sh It's a good name dog. I went upstairs. Actually, this is the respect that I happy, Humongous. I'm like I know I'm not getting my dog. My dog was named after my wife. And to add six marriages. She was a bit of a husky, so you know, we want the name of the dog. Lula. Lula Lula. Mae Bickford was my wife. Uh And so we call it Lula. I call it Get the hell out of my way and stop barking. That's what I call it. But what you gonna do, Danny? Safe travels, my man. We'll catch up soon. Okay, anytime, man. "All right. I'm listening. There's only five players on the basketball team. I was looking at what specific position. Did Juwan Howard I think that he needed to Improved. That's you want to go inside to the big man? I mean, he wanted to do that with big, big sleep, but I mean, that wasn't that wasn't his game. I mean, but now he's got someone Hunter, who he could go into and who takes it to the hoop, Texas to the rim or he kicks it back out. That's what he wanted to do. That's the position he wanted to effect and he did affect that. That's all massive one through five. What number General one through five. 125 position five. So he wanted just a big man and he's gonna win a national championship. About Xander. Well, he's got everything else. He's got guys that can shoot from the perimeter. He needed a big man that's gonna make everybody crashed down. All right. You guys have a good day. Tell Dennis still take it easy on our boy. Stafford Love you guys saying Hey, Hammer Hammer might stop talking about Stafford Get some kind candy to cotton candy Mike, You know it's a It's a really interesting question. If there's one most important thing that, you know, jawan dead or whatever else course there's there's a Probably about 10 or 20 things that you look at. All of those things have to come together. You know you're not going to get all of them. But you wan mostly has had all of those things come together. He lost a big man and Tess key at five, and he lost his point guard. And Xavier Simpson and he went out and got a grand transfer and then another transfer and what it's not like you're talking about. Ah, hotbed and Wake Forest. I know that's in the A. C. C, but Colombia in the Ivy League He went out there and and there's a lot of coaches that brought in a lot of transfers. Nobody in the country has had to have been more important to their team than Mike Smith and shiny brown. So I would that's that's up near the top on important things that he did. Taking a look at this number three ranked team right now. 7349 and 8 10 50. Let's go toe Hadley! Yeah. Jay made dinner. So I ask you what kind of mushroom was that again? That you mentioned earlier? I'm Morel Morel Mushroom. Morale. Yeah, you're familiar with. I've heard of him. Yeah, that m O r r e l you know. No M o r e l Yeah. Is that what you spelt? I thought you said to ours and they're only one Are you And you purchase all of whom can you purchase those in the stories soon? Put yourself in aware of the store. I think just the store. Yeah. You should be on the personal stories. You can. They're they're They're They're quite crazy, Though. Hadley there they high priority the high price man. Most people I know they don't know where they buy him from or I'm sorry. They never tell you where they get them from. Because they have their own special spot across Michigan. That they go and they don't want to tell anybody. They're secret where they're mining for gold. You know, that would be custom. You know, they were talking pizza on the national holiday. Hedley. It reminded me I mentioned the borough pizza place and and how they sliced their pepperoni. I like that. But my wife got One with all mushrooms on it. It wasn't They weren't Morales, but It was a great pizza with nothing but mushrooms on it. Awesome Pizza. Well, I just tried to do the search here. I shop at Wal Mart down here, and I don't know how the stores are all about Brock. Yeah, I don't think I don't think you'll find that the local walmart you might you might have to go. You wanted to go find a boozy, boozy store, man. You got to go with the class. All that. I know. I see. So this is like buying caviar, money stuff dead. This is talking about man. All right. Well, I don't need morel mushrooms every day, Jamie. Not many people do Unless you got a boy. Your taste buds people do. It's a national treasure. Really? Hadley like you Just wait. You get a little butter and salt, Pepper. That's all you need. And you know it so good. So what? Where can you buy him? It? You know where he's going to get him back? Yeah. You can get him at most of it. Yeah, I don't know. Like about Walmart. Everything else but you know, you can get him at most of your stories out there. Check him out. I've got him. Well, I confined. I'm looking at the list Right now. I can find Bella mushrooms, baby mushrooms, white mushrooms, blah, blah, blah. You want warmer? Still? You know that I will murder. I only stop it. Wal Mart, Jamie because they do free delivery. Okay, try. Okay. Try Amazon. Maybe Amazon has him. I'm looking at Amazon. They sell Dr Moreau Mushroom, sir, Exactly Go to Amazon. Right. Well, don't try to help you out, bro. Help us. Have you freed yourself too? Yeah, well, high class Jamie over there, you know, giving us all the advice here. Can't Jamie does have a boozy taste But I will say that Only cheese pizza. Hmm. Yeah. Holy veggies. E. Probably shouldn't say this Hadley but over here on Peach Mountain They are known for Morel mushroom, you guys Coming ahead of me. He said You come on over here. You would let you pick a few. I don't know how on what side of the mountain. You know that the sun heads I'm gonna look for some ass trees or whatever else but I have actually not going back there. Up the mountain to hunt him. But I have heard that they can be around. And that's the that is the first rule in Morel mushrooms. Never tell anybody want to get him. You just e. No. I broke the first rule. You do it. I don't know. It's like Fight Club. Come on. Yeah. Wait a minute. Don't dogs smell out mushroom to certain dogs? That's not well. I think dogs and dogs and pigs for their know for for for truffles. I think that might they might be able to do Morales. I don't know, though. Would be nice. If it was going to goats. We'll train them up. But they do his pigs. Find the truffles over there. I don't know. Maybe I did. Maybe I didn't get my goats out there to hunt down some around sweet grand. Train them up. It will be perfectly fine. For free. He's got Maybe I don't know you mentioned Dennis. You mentioned your goats that you have. I saw this show on shark tank runs a goat yoga, serious used little baby goats, Tonto people that would do yoga. The baby girl. So get on top of the person as they're doing. Their yoga is supposed to be very relaxing. So maybe you could get your goats to do some yoga. Do some. You'll go out there and you have your baby Don't sit on top. It's interesting that you bring it up. I was just looking at some some competitive yoga yesterday. You know they were calling it, Hedley. It was it was for it was for guys. They called it, bro. "Zone. Welcome back to the hymns. Oh, Jamie Morris, Dennis 15 Mata hit man. Mr. At the Us behold doing the ones and twos. And as I said, we would have a sports writer extraordinaire from the Detroit News coverage. Michigan Basketball James Hawkins. Hey, James, how you doing, man? I'm good. I'm good. How you guys doing? We're doing really well, splendidly. Well, James, my first question for you is is that bounce back game Michigan comes out. Again, and they put it. They put it to Maryland a second time and you I see that you had an article about Mark Turgeon. He's impressed with this team. What impresses coached urgent so much about this team. I think it's just the way I mean, if you just look at the way Michigan beat them in their two meetings. I mean, you go back to the New Year's Eve matchup in college Park. I mean, 100 Dickinson, um, just boy him and had his way with the Terrapins an entire game. He scored 26 points and kind of Controlled the game permission from start to tip. And then you see, as they as they did on last night. Um, I mean, you know, the Terrapins were trying to take 100 of the game. They try to follow the same script at Minnesota head, you know, double teaming him every time he touched the ball. But then I mean, Michigan just showed that I mean, they have four shooters that are surrounding him at all times. And they know they got hot from three point range. Early on. They had that really, really slowly where they jumped out to like, you know, 14 point lead. Less than 6% of the game, And then they kind of never let up after that, So, um, yeah, I think it's one of those things that's a pick your poison things like, how do you stop Michigan home? At this point, you can either try to stop on her, and then I just opens up everything for the other guys. Or you can try to take away three point shot and then just leave 101 on one and He's shown throughout the season that he will take advantage of those matchups when he gets home. Yeah. James was that your biggest takeaway from the game last night that Michigan learned from Saturday was that they do that That hard double was coming at 100 Dickinson and how he dealt with that and how they distributed the ball after that, and you It looks like they learned something last night. It is that your biggest takeaway Yeah, For sure. I think it also too. I think that the outing just showed that I mean, I think after Saturday's loss, I think, um I think they just showed that was more more. So just a bump in the road. You know, I think you know you could save the lost You know, kind of brought them back down Earth, but it wasn't like the sky was falling. I mean, you know, obviously they're missing Eli Brooks and And I know, I say livers. After yesterday's game, he mentioned that I mean they're expecting the double team at Minnesota. I think it was just, you know, hundreds of had a tougher time dealing with him. Then he hasn't been in previous games. So I mean, yeah, definitely they yesterday's game, they showed that they learned how to be handled Those double teams a little bit better and Um I mean, it's always I mean, you look at 100. I mean, he took three shots and scored three points. And I mean Michigan can a cruise. Uh, truce that went so, Yeah. I mean, they definitely definitely took some things away from from 19. But I think the biggest thing is that I think it showed that that just just that 30 lost was like I said, it was just more of more of an aberration than anything, and I kind of like a You know? Something that was going to become the norm with this team. You're listening to the the end zone we have right presently. Right now we have James Hawkins from the Detroit News. He's the ease the with the Detroit News that covers men's. Michigan men's basketball James, Let's go back to the beginning of the season, this team was not thought of as an elite team. They were kind of borderline middle of the pack. What do you think? Juwan Howard. Or was it the infusion of the two transfers from shiny Brown and Mike Smith? And or is it 100? Dickerson? What makes this team What has brought his team so close together and you know, taking them to the elite status that they are. Yeah, I think just coming into it. There was just a lot of unknowns, right? I mean, they had a lot of new faces. I think they had as many new players on this team as they did returning players, So I think there's just a lot of uncertainty like you just didn't know what to expect with this team. I mean, as you pointed out, the two transfers you, um like Smith and shiny brown. You kind of didn't know how they were gonna fit into this and the same thing with the freshman kind of don't know how they're gonna fit in. I don't think anyone expected 100 Dickinson to come in and dominate the way that he did. Um, I mean, it's not. I mean, if you look across college basketball, it's not very common for freshmen to just Opinion just dominate, you know, right off the bat. Um, so I think that was something that maybe not a lot people expected. And the big thing, too, is with with Mike Smith. I mean, obviously losing Xavier Simpson. That's a huge, huge avoided feel just because He was David was such a ball dominant guard and he was the key. The key cog in the orchestrator for you know, Michigan defense for their offense and their main shock readers. Um and I mean, he's making the jump from the Ivy League to the big 10, and you know, there's always questions about how you know If if you know players gonna be able to produce at the same level when they make that jump, But I think like shown I mean Z. One thing that you know you want heart keeps talking about throughout the season is how you know guys are They're just buying into the rules and everyone's sacrificing for the greater good of the team. And then you can look at you know, Sean, you brown with a three year starter, Weak force. He comes in here. He accepts his role as a six man. You know Mike Smith. He was like, you know, the one the top scoring Players in the nation last year..

"Don't don't go anywhere if I you know, you look down the schedule and I'm a college basketball teams don't go undefeated, But you're like, who are they gonna lose, too? I mean, really? They've been, You know, Beating the break, beat the brakes off the teams left and right, So it's It's been amazing. It's been truly amazing and property. Juwan Howard in the staff and all the guys on that team. Yeah, Brandon. It sounds like even the staff are surprised at just how well 100 Dickinson is. Just taken over. I'm surprised like I didn't know that Eli Brooks was a plus defender. I wasn't really that sure that Franz Wagner was a plus defender. What they are. And Shandy Brown. Hey, definitely is 100 Dickinson. I mean, there's four guys that you're talking about. You know what a calm elite calm plus defenders. And then Mike Smith, this last game stepped up. You know, they put him on a +64 guard Davison. And he held his own. They tried to take advantage of them and they couldn't. My question for you is that we kicked it around a little bit today and is Xavier Simpson before the season if you did today. No savior. Simpson could come back. You can handle the ball to lead this team. Everybody would have taken that. Now you got Mike Smith in the way he's playing here. Better fit. Better player. Xavier heading in or you know what you would you trade him right now, if you could talking about Mike Smith for Xavier Simpson. I actually wouldn't And that's crazy because I was a big Xavier Simpson guy. I saw him. I saw him play in high school. I went in covered in Ohio, Ohio All Star game, You know, got to watch him before he even got to Michigan always was a big fan of them. He scored a lot in high school. But it was it was obvious that he was limited on offense in college on dMarc Smith just isn't I mean that dude, can you know he's 595 10? He could go get a bucket whenever he wants. It's a step back. It's a dribble drive in the mid range, Just a You know, drive and kick like whatever it is, he can go on, Go and do that. And Simpson just couldn't I mean and that's fine. He was I look at it this way. I think Xavier is the bet was a better on ball defender. Uh, but but Mike Smith is a better, better offensive player by more of a margin. If that makes sense, like he's a better offensive player than Xavier was a defensive player to me, and when you name those other guys like you, said Sandy Brown and Extent, France, Wagner and Hunter Dickinson and and, uh, any lie Brooks like you really don't need Mike Smith to be an elite defender. He's not a bad defender. He's just not quite on Xavier's level. If you in my opinion, so I think it's crazy to think you know you. You thought about Michigan, losing John testy and Xavier Simpson and inserting this random transfer that no one had heard of from Colombia and a freshman who was a good recruit but not elite. Lee. And they're both upgrades. And that's that's incredible to me, and that's another testament to you know, Joe on getting this guy's ready to take this step in Dickinson and Smith first year with the team. Well, if you gotta give the the kudos to Juwan Howard, I mean, because he's doing he's doing wonderful work, but they're playing 00, man and basketball playing in the back to the rim kicking into the big guy. He kicks it back out. Now they're hitting. They're They're hitting their shots right now, Brandon. But what if you're not hitting the shots? Where Where did they go from there? Well, I think that's important to note because they are shooting the three Well, but they don't live and die by it like they did under John Beeline you can. If you've got 100 Dickinson that you can dump the ball into and he can go get your 28 like that. That's pretty good. And the student 70 75% from the field, and you've got Franz Wagner who can get to the rim. Pretty much whatever he wants, 6 10 and you know guys who can shoot, it concluded. I mean, yeah, sure, they're slumps. But I mean is Sandy Brown. I say livers. Eli Brooks, Mike Smith. Franz are those All of those guys are all going to go into a slump at the same time? I don't think so. So I think I just think they have amazing formula and they are playing a little bit of old school basketball, but they still they still get up and down. I mean, they're scoring 80 90 points they wrote by 40 on Wisconsin. Like that does not. It doesn't happen. That does not happen so They just got an amazing blend of all of those things. They've got back to the basket. They've got flashes that got length. They got hustle. They've got That's I mean, I would you look at the team and you just start making a list of like strengths and weaknesses. One column is going to be much more full than the other column, and that's that. It's just it's played out that way. Levin and Owen and beat the brakes off of ranked teams night in and night out. Yeah, It's really you know, you have something up there pretty well. I mean, it's it's really amazing. Like there was a thought. Maybe that they were peeking and you think about it just a couple weeks ago. It's like, well, they hadn't really played anybody, then played anybody ranked and then he played Northwestern just completely. A milestone and then every game they've been better. Minnesota They were better. Wisconsin. You're not gonna find a better game. You start going back. Even the national guys. They're like. I haven't seen a game like this, though, to snuff it out Wisconsin. You know in, uh, you know, make him seem like they were drunk or whatever it was. It was really amazing. Now they do have to go on the road here. But, you know, getting big country back. They're legit. A deep so it Z. You know, I don't I don't think they're peaking early or anything else They look like they could go out there and handle handle anything that strong their way right now. I totally agree. I totally agree. They're not winning. They're not waiting fluky. They're not winning because they're you know, student 80% from three. I mean, this is the ball well, but it's It's not at a level that they can't Keep keep up. That's that's the thing. I mean, you see teams get.

"That's right. Here we go in the end zone at 5 38. Morris 50 in the mist is here. We're taking your calls. But talking about last night's basketball game breaking news this hour, as Mike Hart is headed back to Michigan, he will join Jim Harbaugh staff. We're asking you what comes to mind when you think about The most impressive Michigan winds of all time. 734998 10 50. That is the number. If you want to join us like Anthony, you're on the end zone. What's up? What's up? What's going on? What's going on in I'm doing good man. Come on. Oh, my Jimmy. Probably doing some thanks. Not after Jimmy dialogue. I want that beautiful way. Michael home. Give somebody a man. I can't. I told me is how to pull over because I was driving. I'm kind of calm down. That's a good idea, you know? Yeah, man on the basketball team. Oh, my God. I take care of last night. I said, Do you believe this? I have to pinch myself around to figure out what I was watching. Yeah, I said that was real. Okay, We're good. But when it was a ball it I got people texted me a man your basketball team. That pretty good man. I say it ain't looking pretty good. We ain't done yet. No, don't Don't try to give me those after yet Just hold on way too much March. Then then, then you could give me all the data. You won't. I was going to go with the Kansas, uh, basketball game with Trey Burke. When everybody thought cancer was gonna blow us out. Down in Dallas. I thought they they They came back with what minutes left within a second half. When it came out, they were blowing him out. Yeah, Yeah, they were Don't like 16 or something. Or day, right? Right. Right. Right. Right. But see, that's what I'm talking about. You see Trade works at home first. This is giving a ball that just give me the ball. That's all you gotta do. I take it from me up and I'm a man. I'm pumped up. Hey! Hey, Jake, man all the way yet, man. I'm calling everybody out. Y'all need to get on board this same man because I went back. We're back. We're back. I'm gonna go boom blow. You guys figure it least going to hear from you Biggie. Yeah, Anthony, you should be fired up. And you know what? You're right. You always wait till march. You could do anything you want now and You know, it doesn't matter if you're not able to cash in in March, But it's just about the way they're playing here on both ends of the floor and then last night. Mike Smith spend doing a nice job all year long, you know, and taking over for Xavier Simpson, but the way that he played last night and being of the star of the game. And what he did defensively against Ah, 64 guard and Davison from Wisconsin the way that really you and Chris Young Jamie said it earlier. He said. For everything that Xavier Cincinnati had said he would take Mike Smith. Dan Dockets was saying that last night, you know Xavier had the hook shot and he was awesome. It's a defense. There's no doubt he was a pit bull. But When it came down to the do the jump shot, and, in particular, the three point shot Mike Smith. He's got that over Xavier Simpson right now, and just the way that he's, uh he's brought his game. It is translated. I thought when I first saw him at Columbia, watching some tape Reminded me of a crafty Derek Walton, but he's uh He's done everything that you could ask, and I thought to McCormick this week made a really good point. It's John's connection is Chicago connection Mike Smith from Chicago, even though his Columbia we know he's a smart guy. Was a grad transfer, but Howard getting the trail. They're picking it up from Chicago, Of course, where he's from. All right now, not a 10 50. It just shows you when when Winning is going on just how things Like a little brighter taste a little sweeter. I'm watching the game last night and usually enough, you'd asked me before this season. A. What do you think? Indian, Doc? It's me. You know, Dan Dockage is all right. But he has annoys me, You know, three or four times a game. I'm almost ready to turn the channel last night. Dan Dockage is dropping all these all these stories and Anecdotes about when, when five night went into Chicago to the South side to recruit Joanne Joanne came out to the parking lot to meet him said Hey, I just wanna make sure you're all right Coaches like Oh, man, that zone I story, Dan. He's talking about Brandon John's hitting that free from the corner, saying, You know what John Beeline told me that they thought this guy was an MBA talent. You know all the stuff that he was saying, like Manny. I haven't liked Dan Dockage last night. Let's go back to the phones. Here we go to Troy, you're on the Amazon. And that's how you doing, man. Good. Thanks for calling one against the other day Jamie written about my heart thing, And then all of a sudden, he reports it. I mean, what's going on here now? Yeah. Who else you want, right? But all I'm having yes, it's just common sense. You know this how you're right here. I could get on board with You know, if you get the pit that that the 10 banks want to get on board with that I could say hang in there doing something here and kudos, Jimmy because he stuck a river rouge recruited. I mean, that decides to tackle. So, Jenny kudos to you, man. Because One thing a river routes. Does we pump out be one football and basketball players. So anyway, what I wanted to talk about is a couple things number one, the greatest game I've ever seen. I took my father for the 1997. Michigan, Ohio State game. My father took me to the 1984 World Series Game five between San Diego and Victoria Tigers. And never for even to this day, Crawford a lot of money for those tickets. I turned him down because Senator my father watching this beat Ohio State and won the big 10 point. Don't go to the root ball and watch what's into what he single handedly did by taking them to a national championship of winning the Heisman Trophy was Was awesome, just hanging out with my father, and I'll never forget that my father's life for another 50 years, But what I wanted to say.

"Hello. 41 person we didn't mention way. Just talking about bucks, Washington with General Lane or ESPN Bucks reporter and I can't believe both of us had a brain fart on this one. Devon White on the best kung linebackers in all of football on a guy I developed a full on man crush for Covering him. Ls you for two years? You know, he's from a small town in Louisiana. Springhill. Louisiana grew up on a horse farm. I grew up on a horse farm we had We had a kinship Courtney and he has been a wrecking machine. His first two years in the NFL, especially this year. He will miss the game against Washington and he will be missed for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Oh my gosh, I mean, he's got 140 tackles leads the team. It's nice nine sacks, which is second Thies playoff opportunities are so fleeting. So when one of your best players gets taken out because of covert, and he's on the list right now, and you know it at this point, it's you know, cheer him up. Tell him to keep his head up. Say, hey, be ready for the divisional playoffs, assuming you might be able to come off because That Zeke White a blow and they're lucky because they have Kevin Minter and they can, you know, rely on him in the absence of Devon Whitey and nine tackles in the win over Atlanta, but This is still a huge loss. You're losing one of your best defensive players. And I mean that defense is really damn good for Tampa. But even without but without Devon white, I mean, that's a blow David and Devon man right there in the middle. Maybe the best duo Handem of inside linebackers, maybe in the league. So Bruce Arians also said if the game were on Sunday, he could've played Saturday night. He's out. They will miss Devon White of the numbers still eight. Tampa favored by eight over the Washington football team corner, let's bring in Ah young man who has had a remarkable career for the Michigan Wolverines. They're ranked 10th in the country. They may be the quietest top 10 team right now, in all of college basketball, their tender no as a delivers his senior captain joins us right now. Here in the Goodyear hotline. They just boat raced Minnesota who's a 63 team of the country. Minister Michigan Just trucked in 82 57, Isaiah When six of 11 from the floor 14.7 boards eyes there. We greatly appreciate your time, man. When you think about what you've been able to do so far, just describe it. I think it's because everybody wants to win this Michigan Michigan culture that coach Howard built. We? We've been through this struggle through rough times. Your covert 19 year on campus wasn't easy. Has had to find ways the lock in and connect, and I think that's what made it getting closer is going through a pandemic like this, that we're still going through. And still going through offseason. You know, I had to welcome the freshman here, sadly, with no with no students on the campus, so I had to talk to him not saying I don't want to, but I had to talk to him Learn more about him, and we just welcome a lot of new covers, and everybody's on selfish. Everybody wants One goal and that's to win. I say, What is it like going through this gauntlet of a big 10 schedule that you guys have. It feels like there's you know, there's nine teams right now. They're ranked in the conference. I don't think we've seen the big 10 this stack this early on in conference play in quite some time. But you know for someone who goes through this stretch, you know, on a weekly basis with multiple games a week. What's that? Like? And the Big 10 is the best conference. In the world. It is the hardest conference. It is the best defensive conference. Maybe not the most fast paced, but you're playing some great offensive teams. Great shooters like you really can't take the night off. You got guys you could rebound. Guys who can score the ball. Guys who can pass the ball like Guard the ball like it. You can take it off in the big 10. So every game is the preparation to winning the Big 10 championship. And when the national champion most importantly and I think I think we're doing a great job right now, if you keep your head down and stay focused, I think we're gonna get what we want. Is there. You're a senior. You could have gone, the league decided to come back and chase a title. What is this season mean to you personally? It means a lot. Honestly, A lot of my thought process was to come back because my guys Xavier Simpson and John testy did not have the chance, even playing their big tension ship and their March madness run. So this This is a big year for me, not only for myself, but like I said, I'm doing it for my past captains. It was sad. It starts when they said the whole season was canceled. Just cancel. Cancel this here and what we're practice through. What? We're blood, sweat tears and practice for and Gonna be. You're gonna meet a lot, and I got that we keep our We keep our nose down. Keep your head on the media. I think we can do it under feet. And you just absolutely trucked the number 16 team Golden gophers tonight. Congratulations will talk to you soon, man that I love. I love that attitude. Stay healthy. Thank you Stay safe as a leverage. Yes, sir. You too. Right here on the Goodyear Hotline recording counting on me and Fitz Simmons. I'd love that Last answer. One for me was for my guys who couldn't do it. Last year with the tournament's conference tournaments, March madness being canceled and You look at what they're doing right now. Man if anybody needed a serious deodorant To mask the stench of football in Ann Arbor. I give you the Michigan Wolverines men's basketball team because they are damn good. I mean, what a quiet tenant! Oh, start to write. Like it's a year where The teams are constantly they're getting games postponed or having the likes to spend practice or operations because of covert. I mean, he's talked about. He talked us about all of that, Just where you know it affects how teams were able to gel. Build chemistry between each other. I mean, especially basketball like this is a sport that is so tight knit. You guys can all fit on the same bus like that shows you how like you guys were in the same quarters all the time..
