Wrestlemania 37 Review Special (Part 1) ft. Pro Wrestling Insider Shane Peacher (Ball & Buds Podcast Episode #14)
"It felt like the old wwf. You know where they would have the pre match interviews and they just did like a thousand one before the before the show. It was great. It was awesome. I was actually happy that the rain happened. So let's start from the top. And i know you told me to talk about this and i was gonna ask you anyways. How do you. Because you are the biggest cogan hogan fan in the world titus and hulk hogan forever pirates soups. What are you kidding. Me ho me. tease john. Now i love hulk you know that man that was ridiculous and i love the whole a guest host. I guess but i mean it's just so scripted in horrible but it was so tacking it was it was eight hogan and it was hilarious and i loved it anyways just because it was hawk. I'm biased though osos soobee. you're biased. I love to do though even though it was awkward as well like they really tried to force this pairing together and it was like really didn't need to do this right and then of course you know you. They forced it because of the whole inward situation. Because if you remember when it first happened in hall they let hawk come back like titus kind of had an issue if you remember if you remember that whole scenario so i think they did. I think it was forced because that which is awkward. And i think hilarious because although titus forgave. I don't think he forgets to say i heard that. China's said technically forgiving him. But i heard that he was also still feeling that obviously so i was really awkward but it was kind of funny to me and i'm sure well speaking of they let that happen. Also because titus was in tampa so they actually tried to prop him up in his hometown but biggie. They took the championship from. Why do wwf keep letting or keep wanting to humiliate the wrestlers by having them losing their hometown. Do they think that this is good. Because it's not no. I don't know if it's hometown thing. I just think if you look back after the fat none of the world championship changed and so they had to change the littler titles. I think that's really it. You know what i mean. Because how many mania is does a world title never changed especially nixon had to one for each show. You know what i mean you have the world title and then undisputed title. Neither changed hands. And that's rare for mania. You always usually have a title change Meanwhile when i heard it will trump ender explanation is. I'm gonna beat you so it sounds like a drum is like okay. These kids don't even know what the matches but it was just a weapons manage. You know why. Why why you know what i'm saying. I mean they had like a whole bunch of guys around the ding beating drums. And you know the exact same thing you know. Maybe the an open pit you know like the african wrestling. I don't know if you've ever seen it looks like we're like scooting around in dirt. Yes can you know single knees wrestling that whack. I know the the matches it was kinda. Get his get his turn to because kofi had a big wrestlemainia match aside from the tag team for when he went for the title. This is big east big match. But of course he's got to lose because he's in results were rating so far right now the only result i think that was correct was owens. This was correct if it wasn't in his hometown but
Takeaways From Night One of WWE Wrestlemania 37
"Think this was a really good wrestlemainia. And i'm not going to say it's bad for the simple fact that we caught it because i don't end to to. I don't think it was bad. Because in comparison to last year where it was wrestlemania that only got that almost got cancelled and the only reason we got it was because they were able to convince the state of florida to let them run their own damn building that they own i. I can't judge this because this was wrestlemainia. This was a film a truer wrestlemainia. You got your moment at the and where you know you got to go home feeling good. You had your big moments. You had great matches this. This was mania. It felt amazing to have this feeling again. You had your absent flows your ups and your downs. But once you got to the main matches that were supposed to deliver. Seth lenses are in the middle was good a bad bunny and that match delivered emit wrestlemainia caliber match boom. The girls delivered their main event. The opener was pretty good as well. Start to finish. Show is fun was entertaining. You can criticize it and everyone will. Whoever has a podcast like we do. Dip will the rippon things and say this doctrine yada yada yada if you had fun. Don't rip it apart. enjoy it. I think this gay people so much. Hope which is what we all need right now as we need to start to build each other backup. We need to start to come out of this really dark period that we've been in and this includes wwe because they felt the struggle just like the rest of us and they've worked their hardest to put on a product has always been the best product. No it is not but they have tried and the same thing goes for. Aew aew his tried but on the best product that they can have they always succeeded. No but they're trying and that's the thing is it's like i'm going to go back to it. Wwe eight w they could have shut down like our wage like impact could completely dark and not run at all for a year. A straight solid year using all the moments that we've had over the last twelve months we wouldn't have had any of those because they wouldn't have been

"Do you would you. I know you get the short timeframe. And and i know you push yourself hard. Do do you set certain expectations. Like what you need to do in in three weeks or four weeks like just i don't know physically or something except the number one. Don't get hurt between now. And then it right marty hurt you. Can't i had this conversation with somebody yesterday. And you know all joking aside once you look at it. It's like it here throw auto analogy. It's like get the car ready for seema and ten days I it's like getting a car. A bill ready for you. Know the reveal shot on a reality show but in this world. I had the conundrum that i have. Is you have unlimited time right so you what. How much do you portion out for. Strength for stretching for you know. It's it's a conundrum because there's so much to do in such a short period of time and then if you overload in one area you're you're your negatively compensating were in the other areas like if i trained too much then i'm going to hurt myself right but if i don't train enough then i'm not ready so you know i mean this is how is your how is your. Here's things like. Everybody wants to look good when they get into the ring as you get older suitable you know. I can't within four weeks. It's not possible so you just try to figure out how you can say face with either yourself or the i mean it's just it's a weird and we've we've talked about this before when you're doing it's like obviously you're when you're in there you wanna put on the best show possible not. It doesn't always go that way. It's still very taxing physically mentally but you wanna put on the best show for the fans possible that are watching but the training regimen has to be much different. I would imagine. Yeah you gotta look good. You wanna get big. You wanna get you wanna get cut. But i really like. How about flexibility bad. I just feel like just like all. My son is lifting morley team. Yeah so yeah. I spend most of my time in the gym in the gym at d. one fitness with him training everyday. Just stretch it man. He's i mean. I'm just trying to be pliable. Yeah so i miss. Don't want to snap in the ring. I'm not talking about my head. I'm talking about every ended. You know no. Let's move on okay. But that's important. Because is that's how you're gonna that's how you're going to be able to survive to put on a good show is going to be can you. Can you move around and not get injured in the however many minutes you need to be in the ring or you know what i'm saying because it ends very quickly and very quickly if something pulls her tears or injured or whatever in the first thirty seconds it changes the whole match sixteen when i went back and then russell rocket wrestlemainia my growing within the first ten seconds. The bill well. I don't know how you did that. We don't need to get into how so i mean. Yeah hey you know. I'm not gonna sit here. I do this every week. You know it sounds. I'm crying but yeah there's a lot. There's a lot to lot to happen in a very short period of time. And you try to prioritize stuff and you know is more important to be of as a more important to be big. What you realistically do in three weeks. Attaining that goal am i going to hurt myself a day yesterday in squatting i get it but i. I'm their interest driving my trx. We're just interested in it because it's part of the job right and it's just a big part of of your career for so many years and what you're doing what you're doing now and honestly the bill the car for sema or even the reality show. -nology is the biggest difference is is we can fake it at the last minute and you don't you don't really get to do that. I don't have that luxury get to do that. Well all right well at least so far so good. You're getting into it. I i see you got listen. I i know you've also got the big garage going on and the gym's going to be amazing up there as well. I hope. I hope you don't look at a guy. I don't wanna use net. Jim gauge will use it. That's for sure but Just for myself. But now since i can't all your hey listen. There's there's nothing better than to be able to go in to the gym with gaijin kind of act as coach instead of partner and that be perfectly listened to me. Well he's fourteen is listening. Your truck looks great. You know we'll segue to it as i spill my coffee overplays but the truck looks
Ryan Cabrera and WWE Star Alexa Bliss Are Engaged
"I think that social media is a reality in this world In the world that we live in in the world of sports entertainment. And i think that we have to learn how to live with it and i think we can actually use it as a tool for example recording this on sunday and today yesterday at the time this podcast comes out. It was everywhere. Alexa bliss announces that she's engaged A lot of alexa bliss fans are so happy for her lot of alexa. Bliss fans are very sad. Because i guess they thought that alexa bliss was going to marry them until she got engaged. It was so you're saying there's a chance. I saw on the not sam wrestling discord room. Where all are not. Sam shells that are signed up to patriot. Dot com slash. Sam wrestling. That we all get to chat There were a couple of them. That were upset. That alexa was engaged because they thought that that was going to be them. Unfortunately it's not but don't worry you still got the patriot community. You still got us. Not sam shells that are there for you. it's not. it's not all bad news but it was everywhere. She posted this video of of ryan. Cabrera popstar cabrera who she's been very publicly dating Proposing tour beautiful thing. You love is a wonderful thing and seeing join in holy matrimony and become even happier is wonderful. It's one of the happiest things if you are with the right person. The day the night the evening the afternoon that you get engaged one of the happiest times ever just such an expression of joy. It's beautiful. I love it but everybody's talking about it. I mean alexa. Bliss is a huge star. You know you've got. Wwe tweeting about it. And i probably should be. It's it's a little bit absurd to ignore it. You know not only is one of the biggest stars really realistically alexa. Bliss is one of the biggest stars in. wwe male or female. She's one of the most famous people in. Wwe so you know. And this is big. Wwe is big time. Now you got sasha banks over here on the mandalorian which you see. Sasha banks one of the big another one of the biggest stars in wwe and probably the biggest tv show. that's on the air right now. You see that happening which weird. The wwe isn't making a bigger deal out of that. Like if i were. Www shouting it from the rooftops. But you've got that going on at the same time you got to cherry public engagement. You know i mean. I feel like we should let's angle for a reality show. Let's get on the phone. I was watching total balas over the weekend. And i was like you know what i miss. When they would go to wrestlemainia. I was just sitting there waiting for them to go to wrestling. Like oh wait. There is no more wrestling. And that's when. I realized that i was watching total bells for the wrestling parts. They still got daniel bryan on the show. Obviously no more john cena. They're not going to wrestling shows anymore. So it's like oh. I like the balanced. But i'm still you know living in brima to seven but they're not gonna wrestling shows anymore so yes so let's get alexa. Bliss rang cabrera. Let's get blissfully something or other. You know you got bliss already in there you you got it. But here's what. I think needs to happen now that we've acknowledged. Wwe is acknowledged it's all over wwe social media platforms. I think that you gotta lean into it. And i think that you should use it. I think that this can be a lot of fun. Especially because ryan cabrera is also a public person. Here's the way. I think this needs to go. You had this segment on raw last week. Where nikki cross is talking to alexa. And there's this acknowledgement that they used to be friends. Which i think is great. We're not pretending that the election nikki partnership never happened is a big part of. Wwe at the time you know. We're still acknowledging it and alexis doing that. Weird phony friendly like almost like i'm in a trance. Peewee herman thing and nikki cross tells her alexa you gotta pick mere the fiend and alexa. As if it doesn't bother it all goes. Oh okay. I pick him. And walks away and nikki crosses befuddled by the whole thing befuddled. I love this. I think we need to keep this going. You know i look. This is the type of stuff. I want for alexa bliss and the this is why i say. Keep the fiend away from the universal championship. Keep the fiend away from the wwe championship because these are the types of stories. You can tell you know. I think that we should go back and look at who are friends. Were in annex t the start telling those stories and have somebody come out. Go like lexi. What are you doing things. You're you're not the same person what what's happening. I pick him and you know over. The course of a couple of weeks have her abandoning oliver. All friends and then finally ryan cabrera comes out on raw and it's like real life now it's like is this alexa. Bliss is this. What's her name lexi kaufman in real life. I don't know. I only know people by their wrestling names. But is this the real alexa. Bliss from real life. is the character alexa bliss now. We're mixing everything up. Which is what we should all be doing. That's the way wrestling is at. Its best mix everything up. And you've ryan cabrera out on raw and he's like alexa. I love you and she's like i love you. Do you know like yeah. Of course it you love me. I love you. We're we're doing great and he's like well. You're not the same person i thought. When we got engaged it would shake you out of this transfer inches. I'm not in a trance. I'm just seeing things for what they are for. The first time ryan cabrera goes lexi. I need you need you to pick you. Pick me or the fiend. She's kind of taken aback. She's like i didn't realize he felt that way. Ryan that's how i feel and she's like well net case i pick him. He's like what and then you hear bumble bumble bumble and the lights go out. Eat whatever those sounds are and tom phillips going. Oh no not here that's alexa. Bliss fiance pop sensation ryan cabrera and the red lights come on and the fiend is behind ryan cabrera and ryan cabrera's looking around and he's looking at alexa bliss. I what are you doing here. Like this is our real life and then he realized he gets his goosebumps. You realize the fiend is right behind him so he turns around and the phoenix cox's head and sticks his tongue out of his mask grabs ryan cabrera vice skull dips him over gives him a kiss on the forehead and he sister abigail ryan cabrera. Alexa bliss is real life. Fiance get sister abigail an alexa bliss just standing over him smiling. I love it man. I mean i i think that why not why not. I feel like it would be good for everybody involved. Like let's let's blur the lines here guys. Let's not pretend there's two separate entities as it's happening eventually we can tell the story of how like. Oh this is so wild in my personal and blah blah blah but while it's happening muster blending these lines with blurred altogether be like. That's a real fiancee right. Yup like the best is when you're trying to explain to a non wrestling fan. What storyline and what's not storyline. And they get confused because you're a little bit confused because you're not one hundred percent sure where the lines are and who's getting worked by what maybe. wwe tweeting about this was part of the storyline. All along are they even really engaged. I don't even know anymore. I don't know anything anymore. I guess i'm just going to sit here and watch monday night. Ron finds out. Find out what happens next. Because that's the way we should be watching anyway. Just let it play out and see what happens. I would love that if that happened. I would love it if that happened. Socket in our discord room. Says i love that. Sam has cabrera taking bumps like the fiend doesn't use the middle claw. He hit the mandible claw. After maybe alexa bliss puts the mandible claw him or something like that but is taking sister abigail. I mean we are laying out ryan cabrera. 'cause i want e. news. I want entertainment tonight. I want whatever extra whatever. Entertainment shows are left on television. I want people magazine. People dot com. I want everybody posting videos of being like popstar ryan cabrera. Remember him. Well i remember. I remember will now. He's getting laid out by the fiend on monday night raw. Because here's what happens. If you have a pop star that you grew up idolizing and he's getting laid out. Here's the way that works. You get the people who don't watch wrestling to not only get a glimpse of monday night raw but they get a glimpse of the theme. The is one the most unique properties the wwe has. The fiend is the type of visual. That went a non wrestling fan watches. They go what the hell is that. I'm going to have to tune in and see what that's all about. That's one of the strengths of the fiend. And if you got footage of ryan cabrera eating a sister. Abigail and his real life fiance alexa. Bliss is looking on happily in that weird fien state. You got money bro. you got money. I hope they're already thinking in that direction. If not. i'm in text. Bruce richard because somebody has to tell them get ryan cabrera on that show and lay that out. I think it'd be great. I think it'd be great. Congratulations to the two of them. But i have to believe that ryan cabrera. Whatever time of his life. I know i would if my fiance was a wrestler and she was like hey would you mind coming to raw and having the fiend. Give you sister abigail. I'd be like number one. That's awesome number two. After the show me. I get a picture of him in full gimmick. I really wish i could do that. I really wish i mean. I wish. I wish that. I could have one of the shows that i was at the fiend was at too. I wish i could just go like hey bro. Can we take a picture with you. Still in your gimmick and not. Be a weirdo. That doesn't deserve to be backstage. Because man do. I want that picture a really really. Do
Inside the Downfall of the XFL
"XFL was supposed to be the league that can finally make spring football work with financial backing from WWe's Vince McMahon in veteran leadership from commissioner Oliver Luck. The idea seemed promising. But just five weeks in Copen, nineteen forced the xfl hit pause, and then unlike other leaks. It announced it was shutting down for good. Today the inside story of why the xfl closed doors, and whether it could have been saved. I'M UNICOM'S IT's Tuesday June sixteenth. This is espn daily presented by marathon. Shaken. What's Shakin what she can not much some to you're talking to you Kevin Siefert writes about the NFL and the xfl for ESPN. So Kevin the last time you and I talked was to preview the xfl so excited about this new league time the rules and how funding would be, and whether it would work, and while sadly, we are gathered here today to autopsy the xfl the. League officially suspended their operations on April tenth season quote the uncertainty of the current environment, obviously referencing the corona virus pandemic. What was it like inside the League on that day? It was pretty wild. Actually talked to Kurt unsecure. WHO's the president of the Saint? Louis? Battle. Hawks and he heard some rumors he had wondered if the League would. Need to cut back in some way like many businesses, but he at most thought there might be some layoffs or potentially some furloughs, but when he woke up that morning. Like many other xfl employees he saw the. Direct deposit from. His pay. Was much larger than normal. Anyone who's ever worked in an office setting or a for a company of any kind knows that on your last day you get a paycheck for your salary, and also for any occasion time accumulated, and that's what that's. What happened here and that was really the first sign that he occurred hunziker or anybody. Really who worked for the xfl knew that not only were some changes about to happen, but. Some really ominous events were about the Kerr that day. And they found out. There was a going to be an all company conference. Call at about noon. And that's where they were informed that everyone who works for the League was terminated. Kevin Win all that down. The XFL was on hold like pretty much everything else right I mean the pandemic hit a sports world back in March when the NBA system. It's season. WWe Closes headquarters in Stamford Connecticut days later then on March. Twentieth six fell big flat out of their season, and said we look forward to playing full seasons for you, and with you in twenty twenty one, so it seemed like at the time the plan wasn't afford the league entirely, but just hit pause. Pick up when the pandemic was over. Why do you think they thought they could keep going back then? I think they they felt pretty good that in the five weeks at the season had managed to get through they had. Gone a long way. Towards proving the concept they had pulled in about twenty million league revenues, and they're projecting forty six million through the rest of the year. They're TV. Ratings had dipped, but they were about to go on a run of having most of their games, either on ABC or Fox and so, that would probably at least stabilized the ratings, and they thought that they would have for the first time since they had started building the league time to really sit down, pull apart their thoughts and come up with a better product, the following year Vince McMahon who the owner of the League he had pulled almost four hundred million dollars out of WWe stocks into his personal account to finance. Really for two or three years, and so they knew the money was there, he had put up about two hundred million, and was committed to paying another hundred and fifty million a year for a few years. Until they could potentially get the profitability, so there was. A lot of confidence that the money existed to continue subsidizing the League in that long term plan would not be sacrificed just because the season had to end more abruptly than they had hoped. I didn't know that so the xfl Vince McMahon rather was using wwe money to fund the XFL. Right away you know Vincent Man's the owner of w w well early state, the founder and the CEO, and so he had lots of stock, and so he used that stock eventually to fund the XFL. There was a division, a financial and business division, but you know there was also a shared services agreement between the two. Certainly the way they were able to recruit coaches and front office people and even the Commissioner Oliver luck the way they were able to convince people to come aboard was the show them the plan the financial plan that he had to spend money over the over those three years, there was public documents. That showed that the stock had been sold in that the money was now. In Vincent. Man's hands to fund the XFL and that's why they they felt so good about it. So the xfl like every other sport announces. Hey, we're going on pause. Then a couple of weeks pass. What was the state of play at the beginning of April? Really at the beginning of April the XFL was in off season mode. Oliver Lock. WHO's the commissioner had been asked to come up with twenty, twenty, one I jets. He had asked all the department has all the team presidents to come up with plans to market the teams throughout the long off season. That was to come. Everything was in the XFL. Offices were being directed towards this twenty twenty one season and a lot of times towards the twenty twenty two seasons well, they were looking ahead, saying okay, here's what we want to do in twenty twenty one. We WanNa make it better, and this is what we want and twenty twenty two, and then then we look to see if we can be profitable and this was all going on really. Really, in between the time, the xfl canceled season, and when it shuttered and had bankruptcy, and so those plans were all compiled, and I'll reluctant demand to Vince McMahon, and then they didn't hear anything. They didn't hear anything back, and they thought maybe it was because Wrestlemainia was going on. People had their attention there, but that was something that caused a little bit of unease as the second week of April arrived and that. They've been asked to create these budgets. And then there have been radio silence. So Oliver Overlook. Who was commissioner of the XFL also Andrew looks father for those who don't know and has been a sports executive for years used to NFL Europe who's an executive with the NCWA? He's going about his business. Assuming the league's going to come back putting together some plans, and then what happens. And then he gets a call or actually gets a letter on April ninth stating that he had been fired for cause and the letter came from. Vincent man and from the his attorney listing supposed. Infractions to his contract into his duties that Oliver Luck had apparently committed in his response, Oliver Luck in his legal papers, said he had never been told of any of these issues, but on April Ninth I, think about five o'clock is when Oliver Luck found out, he'd been fired. So what elect do? You know he is already in his home. In Indianapolis, the xfl offices were closed, and so he immediately got with his lawyer. Because when you get fired, because usually that can mean that the guarantee in your contract is no longer valid, and so he has sued for wrongful termination, not only disputing the reasons that Vince McMahon fired him which among other reasons, whereas the use of company cell phone for personal reasons which. Many people in the xfl on in the public to be an awfully little bit of a petty, and that's not even editorializing. It's just a fact. You know petty reason to fire sports commissioner WHO's making. Between five and seven million dollars a year, and so he not only is disputing the facts of what was in the latter, his termination letter, but also that the xfl never gave him the thirty days. That's required in his contract to correct any issues that ownership is having, and so that is currently playing out in court. We'll see who wins on that or whether there is some kind of negotiation that occurs, but at the moment Oliver Luck seeking twenty three point eight million dollars from Vince McMahon, who can fill the contract that he signed in two thousand, eighteen to be the commissioner of the xfl.
The Show Must Go On: Wrestlemania Is Still Happening
"In the WWE. That is we say what our jobs are. Every day is to put smiles on people's faces all over the globe and we truly believe that and then this time maybe more than any other in in my memory people need those smiles right now more than anything that's WWE executive vice president. Paul Leveque better known as triple h talking about the decision to move forward with this weekend's wrestlemainia thirty six. It's the closest thing to live sports. That's happened in a wild but with no fans permitted the arena and concerns over the safety of the wrestlers and staff. What will the showcase of the immortals look like in the age of Corona virus? I mean at times. It's Friday April third this. Espn daily Greg. You're ready to talk wrassling. Damn Right Excel it talking about sports with funny named people trying to punch each other in the face. Greg Luzinski is a senior writer for. Espn you can check out. Lapsed Fan's guide to wrestlemainia on. Espn DOT COM. Yeah actually I wanted to ask you think. Most people know your name from hockey. How long have you been on the Wrestlemainia beat my wrestling a Bona Fides? Go back to when I was a we child watching Hulk Hogan and the more cartoonish W. F. which really sort of capture my heart as you know through the decades there have been times where it's been okay to say a wrestling fan and then sometimes when they've you don't mention it to a lot of people. I think we're in an okay dimension it part of wrestling right now. We're sort of a necessary to mentioned it portion because there's nothing else going on and wrestling is somehow improbably still happening. How is this even occurring? Well the way it's been occurring for the W. E. and their competition. A W which Ariza. Tnt network is that they've been holding shows in empty facilities but for me that means holding their weekly television programs raw and smackdown at the W. E. Performance Center a training facility in Orlando and what they've been doing literally holding it inside of an Empty Gymnasium. I'm the game triple agent. I would like to personally. Welcome you to the. Wwe Performance Center now. This show will be different from anything you've ever seen before. Sit Back Relax. And if you can't forget about the world around you and let. Wwe Do what we do. Let us put a smile on your face to start. That was a little bit awkward because the wrestlers would come out and they would look to the crowd. That wasn't there and they would do all of the usual pantomime they would do to get the fans excited except there was no fans getting excited. You see it doesn't matter if there's ten thousand fans at their zero fans because this is how I I remember that can only way I could describe it as it's like when you're at chucky cheese and the animatronic band starts playing into an empty room. It's still playing. It's still doing. Its own thing. But there's nobody that Iraq to it and that was like the first couple of weeks of this and also they've been utilizing more space around the performance center lake attacks in the parking lot and stuff like that to try to make it feel more than just trying to recreate something inside of an empty room derailed. Me With that chucky cheese analogy this. It's the it's the rock afire explosion ban. Greg get it right. There's nothing better than being in an empty room with the rock afire. Explosion Band and just hearing the gears clunk together. It's jarring but also satisfying so wrestlemainia. Thirty six is happening on Saturday. What was the original plan for the event the original plan was to hold wrestlemainia? Thirty six at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa and this was going to be a huge event for those who don't know it's not just simply wrestlemainia. Inside of a stadium. It is an entire city being overrun by. Wwe events you have the Access Fan Festival you have the WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony. Where wrestlers of old honored and put into a virtual hall of fame. Physical building doesn't exist quite yet and then also after Wrestlemainia the next day on Monday. It's tradition to hold Monday night raw in that same city so this isn't just simply one event on a on a on a Saturday night for The city of Tampa. It was a whole citywide sort of celebration for wrestling as of March. Third The W. E. and Tampa's mayor said there were no plans to postpone the event the W. E. said look the health safety of our fans and performance of our top priorities. But we remain committed to hosting Wrestlemainia at Raymond. James Stadium fast forward to March twelfth. Now you have Hillsborough County's commissioner less Miller saying he'll probably have to cancel wrestlemainia if the. Wwe doesn't make the decision itself because of the virus pandemic governor Rod Santa's that points that cities and counties should cancel mass gatherings over the next thirty days and so it was becoming a worse than worse. Look for W. E. to keep wrestlemainia scheduled framing Jamie Stadium on March sixteenth. They made the decision not to have upwards of sixty five seventy thousand people come to a stadium during a virus outbreak and instead moved into their performance center in Orlando. It's a two night event April fourth and April Fifth. How has wwe justified or explained their decision to go on with us? Well there's the public explanation and then there's the assumed explanation that the public explanation according to the WWe is that it is for the fans the fans are the lifeblood of the organization it is a panacea the fans to be able to hold this event. It is going to give them some comfort in a time of confusion and trouble. It's also going to be arrested for the performers themselves who you know are looking for some direction or looking for some focus in life during uncertain times. And that's sort of the the public explanation for this. If you know about the wrestling business you know that part of this is the fact that story lines that are going to have their big payoff. At wrestlemainia are a month long process. All the story lines all the action. They all run through. Vince McMahon they are on one track. And they're going to stay on that track through hell or high water. These are storylines narratives that the W has been planning to wrap up in culminate at Wrestlemainia happens every year and then they kind of moved to new stuff after that so from a function process to have wrestlemainia occur and wrap up which are the signature feuds and storylines of their season. If you will was a pretty important thing was there any blowback to all of this. Yeah I think there has been some in the rest in wrestling circles amongst wrestling reporters and and amongst the fans wondering okay. We are looking around the sports world. We're looking around the entertainment world. We're seeing literally every pro league every concert tour Disney on ice everything canceling out of concern about corona virus and yet professional wrestling roles on as a weekly television product so there is a bit of confusion. There're two why this continues while every other facet of sports entertainment seems to have stopped. What about amongst the wrestlers did any of them have reservations about participating in this one particular did so wrestler by the name of Roman reigns one of the bigger stars and WWe had a very highly publicized battle with leukemia? He left in October. Two thousand eighteen returned to WWE IN FEBRUARY. Two thousand nine thousand nine hundred and he's compromised so news started to break recently through some of the quote unquote dirt sheets in wrestling. The ones who report the rumor. Innuendo that Roman reigns was not going to be participating in his scheduled match against Goldberg for the Universal Championship at Wrestlemainia. Wwe basically said hey look. This is understandable situation. The health and safety of our performers paramount Sakiz. The biggest name that we know will not be participating but quite frankly until we see what events they air this weekend we won't know who else may have decided to pull out or had to be quarantined or any of that nature because they're being very clandestine about what the card will actually be the first wrestlemainia. That's taking place over multiple nights. It's also the first wrestlemainia that is going to be completely pretaped. So when did they take this weekend's event and what steps did they take to ensure the safety of the wrestlers in the people working on it? It's been a race against time for me. As I mentioned the performance center is in Orlando Florida Orlando Florida. Recently issued a stay at home order March twenty sixth that really closed out all the essential businesses. Just like we've seen all over the country so the WBZ has been racing. It's time to not only record wrestlemainia matches but also record. Future television matches programming as well as far as the safety of the wrestlers. It is a closed control facility. Stephanie McMahon the daughter of owner Vince McMahon who is the brand manager for WWe said to variety. Recently there's extensive testing screening. When you first come into the facility regardless of whether you're a talent crew member or anyone else if you have a temperature taken and you have a temperature over a hundred point four degrees you're automatically asked to leave also any wrestlers de out of the country or in contact anybody who's been out of the country you're not actually allowed to enter the facility. Either so they are taking some safety measures as far as trying to make sure anyone exhibiting symptoms isn't allowed in the facility or anyone who might have been exposed to corona virus through travel or relationships isn't allowed in the facility. Which is you know what you see from other companies as well but obviously there's no way to be sure without Virus testing whether anybody actually has the center of city so they tape this before the stay at home order. Does that mean this is going to be the last big event like this or is this something they're going to keep on doing? There is a lot of sort of mystery as to how these wrestling organizations are going to continue to keep on doing their thing. I'm not sure what the regulations mean for the performance in Orlando. I don't know if this is GonNa be it for their use facility or not. I can't tell you that. Eighty w their competition with also filming inside of an empty facility in Florida's well and there was news this week that they're gonNA be taking their show to some undisclosed to record matches going forward so I don't know if it's GonNa be a shell game where these companies have to start going to the few places around the country that don't have restrictions in place or what have you. But it's clear from both cases that even though they're putting a bunch of their product in the bag right now in our taping matches and episodes for future use on television. The show apparently is going to go on

WWE's Sasha Banks makes long-awaited return, destroys Natalya and Becky Lynch For The Win
"Feels like a lot a new beginnings when you look at monday night raw. What was the newest beginning for you to me. It's sasha mbeki to me with sasha mbeki way way that played out and there's a lot of different layers to sasha and becky after what we saw last night i think sasha and becky the last night was done very very well. There people were invested. They were involved. They were a little little odd at times which toronto ten be especially with the way they treated natty. I was shocked to hear some of the response that there was but as far as physicality point of view from an intent point of view from a wow. This is where we're going to be going and we're excited from from my point of view. Sasha and becky got the job done and it was amazing. I sent out a tweet last night about sasha and and becky and the war has already begun. I don't know about you. Dave my social media was inundated with sasha and becky aki. Fans and man is split down the middle and man or they vocal and passionate about who they liked better. You know i'm glad you brought brought up that toronto crowd. We talked a lot about the crowd in toronto leading up the summer slam and how they're like a different type of crowd in toronto onta they could take over to show and we see that a lot of major cities but you don't know who they're going to boo and who they're going to cheer at summer slam. They seem to kind of follow their role. I it didn't feel like your typical. Toronto crowd completely different last night. Can you buy into the reaction that we heard in toronto when it came to sasha and becky last night yes absolutely and you know what even if i couldn't buy into the reaction on the television set i bought into the reaction the action myself. I'm not one of those guys that listens to the fans and reacts the way they do. I make my own decisions on what i seen seeing what i hear but there are a lot of people out there who will watch how the fans respond. They'll go in that direction. When i saw last night came off really well i mean i wasn't there a time. I don't know how far was back. Where where becky told natty that you you needed me yeah right. Did it becky lynn's til ninety nine hard. You need me now for your career yup well. I think that becky not needs sasha right. Now and last night was a great first step. Sasha hasn't been around a long time. I'm not quite sure why sasha hasn't hasn't been around in a long time. A lot of people on social media who are becky lynch fans seem to be burying sasha talking about how she went took her bat and her a ball and she went home and she's been bitching and moaning and crying. I don't get into all that stuff. All that i know is that she's been gone for a long time. She came back last night. She made an impact. Let me ask you this dave. Did you know from the minute. Her music hit that you were getting turn. Yes i did how outage because the reason why is because of becky like when when you look at becky right now and what she went through this past weekend whitney talia i got she got more support into toronto than i thought she would get and then you heard that crowd last night and you know this from social media becky's loved loved whether it's blind love or complete support. We've been dealing with it for months and months it's there. It's hard core so when sasha was gonna come out i i i had a feeling that this was going to be the few that they would go with you. Mentioned it has she had that right opponents since you won those titles at wrestlemania thirty eighty five i think the answer is no. Sasha is the perfect person for becky right now for me. It was the mimic the music hit. I knew the turn was coming and it wasn't because of anything that you had to say what point of the promo was natty at when sasha's music a kit when she was talking about her father. She's talking about the one year anniversary about jim the anvil neidhart dying passing away and all all of a sudden. That's when sasha decides to look at the music guy and go hit my music. Wow if that doesn't have he'll written all over it. I don't know what does so. I saw this coming from a mile away but it didn't matter. I was still into it. I thought the execution was great. Man the physicality we can analyze is the physicality between the chair shots the smack in the face i would i would not be shocked if some words were exchanged backstage and if there had to be a legitimate pull apart between those women wants. This was all said and done last night well. Let's get into that because i think it's it's worth getting into because there's a lot of me to that bone of what you just said bully and you talked about the physicality outside the ring when the attack attack happened. I let's go with the chair shots. A lot of people have been posting gifts of the chair shots at sasha's given becky. One looks like really nailed her in the back of the head. What did you think of those chair shots from sasha last night. Let's forget about what i thought i. What did you think i because you're the fan as is the fan. What did you think of those cheshire. I gotta be honest. I liked it. I it was hard hitting. It was physical. I didn't really notice about like now. You're looking at it up close and her getting nailed in the back of the head. There was some there was some real hatred behind. Those chair shots bully you know this. The chair has become a prop that you see almost all the time in the w._w._e. Correct yes saucy use as a tool that really told the story and had some angst so when i saw it last night i love what sasha dead. I think the angstrom there. I think the animosity was there. I i thought she used the chair appropriately. What we've seen so many other people use the chair but last night there was just something about that look on sasha's arches face that made those chair shots mean even more things got a little wonky because of positioning and the first two chair shots that sasha hit becky wit were clean and they were good. The third one was just okay okay because if you noticed by the third one sasha is now standing in front of becky and she's at the top of becky's head. You never wanna swing winging that angle. It's a really really bad angle and you're not able to properly swing that chair your most effective manner and then the fourth one came down and cry now <laughter>. It's cracked becky in the back of the head. Now it didn't full on cracker in the back of the head but the bottom of the chair kind of like where your thighs would rest on a chair. The chair was opening. You were sitting down that part. Hearted chair hit becky in the back of the head and that's when you see becky grab for the back of the head now. She didn't get caught with a lip. She got court with a smooth bottom. That's why we did not see her. Get busted open and then if you notice the minute she gets hit in the back of the head she she grabs the back of the head and she instinctually turns over to her side and goes into the fetal position. That's one of the body's defense mechanisms resumes the minute you feel like you're getting your ass kicked too hard you cover up and you go fetal in the animal kingdom. A lot of animals do that also as mammals we do that. You want to cover up. She goes into the fus fetal position but sasha wax her again in the arm and let me tell you from firsthand experience. When you get a hit in the arm in the shoulder it flat out sucks because you got a bone at the top of your shoulder that kind of sticks out and man when that metal comes comes slamming down into that bone it hurts and then you see becky flop right back over the good of the physicality was awesome. The intent the passion the thanks the anger the look on sasha's face told so much of a story like basically she was saying bitch. I'm coming back act takeover. Because i know superior wrestler. The negative was it could have been a little safer hope they go back and realize is that and make sure that they're great. Physicality is as safe as it can be now you mentioned like the chair shots and then that slap to the face and almost felt like like becky. Aki was kinda. Retaliating with the kicks you know do you get into that mode as as a competitor and as an athlete or just as a performer where yeah i that's. That's an instinct like right away. You get you get stung in the face. You're going to kind of come back with like a she gave up. I gave the push and then the kick. I mean is that retaliation. There is that instinct like what happened there with becky lynch i love the smack to the face and it made me chuckle because whenever whenever i would wrestle tommy dreamer it would always take him a while to get going in the match he would always be a bit lethargic when the bell rang and i would normally back them up to the corner and smack him as hard as i could in the face and that would wake him up and then he would just start throwing haymakers last night when i saw asada smack becky in the face i knew damn well that they were going outside of the box if i had the better dollar nobody. Nobody knew that that that was coming. Sasha didn't think to herself backstage. I'm gonna do this and not tell becky and i'm sure becky didn't know it was coming that smack woke becky up and then she says where's your balls at when you shaw becky kick back that was an instinctual she will kick that was getting my ass kicked and i have to defend myself and that little moment in time right there made made things very very real when sasha walks away. If you look at the smile on her face you saw a woman out out to prove something. You're only going to get one shot at this right there. Yep sasha's only gonna get one shot at returning and making an impact act and catching the lightning in a bottle so you can't go out there and sugarcoat anything you gotta go balls to the wall if anything goes wrong if deal with it backstage but it's all about catching that lightning in a bottle so i ask you did. They catch lightning last night. Yes they absolutely did. I said this to alex before the show like that. I i take it for that like <hes> you you you name the price i wanna see that because we've talked about becky and we talked about becky loyal fans that she has and what has she done and as she'd been booked and you know how it got watered down as we got closer to wrestlemainia thirty thirty five if you're putting her in the ring with sasha banks all that stuff gets completely thrown out the window just like last night how sasha i guess got got caught in the moment when she came out there us as fans yes. That's lightning in the bottle for us bully because i think this is the opponent that we've wanted to see becky go against all and why is this the perfect opponent for becky. Do you know why well bully you. Always say about getting in the ring with somebody. That's gonna rise to that next level. You always talk about you know. Hey you got you. Can't you can't fight your level or lower. You gotta get that person. That's a step up above saucers. That person that step above <hes> sasha is a better wrestler than becky becky is a is an over performer and at the top of the food chain right now becky can benefit from working with sasha because in being a better wrestler it gives becky an opportunity be to work up to the next level. Did you think that becky and natty was a good match. I thought it was a good match. There you go it was ah good because natty has been wrestling for a long long time and it made becky workup to nazis level and sasha being he probably in the top three women their saucers really good wrestler. I've put sasha over from day one on this show because survey in ring wrestling you video ability. I don't get caught up in that all that social media stuff with fans i looked at it strictly from the wrestling point of view and i know that this is going to bring out the best aston becky and if you don't believe me just go back and watch the stuff that they did an annex t like four or five years ago and again like what did we see when we saw charlotte charlotte and sasha we saw some of the best matches that we've seen in the women's division for a long time you put the dynamic of becky sasha especially with the fans and the interaction action. We're going to get for them. This is gonna take it to a completely different level in my opinion and the fan thing is the most interesting part last night like i said a sent out that tweet and then all of a sudden man it was like two waves hitting my twitter machine at the same time the becky fans and the shar and the and the sasha fans and and i could not believe the amount of sasha fans that actually were being vocal enough to they were saying she deserves it. I hope she's really hurt like. I couldn't believe that fans were hoping that becky was really hurt. I'll look at this from two points of view. Wow you're a real scumbag. If you're a fan who hopes that becky's really hurt and wow these girls did such a great job bob that these fans poured into it. It's a really good dynamic because i hear what you're saying. One point is like how could you say you hope. Somebody gets hurt but that you're that passionate it into it that you're actually going to post that tells you a story unto

"Go to vivid seats. Still checking out, by the way, Barron. Corbin verse south Rollins. I gotta tell you. This is not a wrestlemainia or wrestlemainia. Quivalent match us. Are you watching I watch it? I mean it's a title match. So I guess it's a Monday night raw match. But let's let's, let's call Dipper Stein, real quick and see if what he has. It's the wildcard after all it is the wildcard episode as always. Let's see, see if he answers. Oh, no. No. I could be my car. I could be my office. I could be agent. I, I don't know what I I don't know what's going on. You're in the car confirmed because we the loudest signal the business today. Oh my God. Why are you so drunk what's going on? Sick this week. Oh, you take a dog. Jay, jay. By the way, I wanna let you know, just so, you know, you right now are on a podcast that is a quivalent to a wrestlemainia podcast or better. It's better or a quivalent to a wrestlemainia podcast. I see I see. Finally got it. He's he's getting play. I see. Okay. All right. We just wanted to say. No, we're talking. We were just about to talk about the Jon Moxley interview. I did not know to follow up with Wade Keller. I do not either not either. I was so bored by the first one that I didn't I didn't even think about listening to a second people know this, he did a follow of third interview with Helen Keller. By the way, it would this the equivalent to whatever my audience would be. No. You. You. Southside, but dip, you, you are among the small minority of which I of which I'm included that did not fake Moxley said anything particularly profound. The deal here we go. I understand I hold on. Let me let me the gun shot because it is the shoot era. Hold on. Go ahead. Here's the deal. I understand. It's significant in that people very rarely anything negative publicly McMahon, but the truth, the I understand that, that is a, you know, someone monumental in some capacity, but for a smart like me and for the universe. With did he say anything revelatory whatsoever? All the products that, oh, the, the creative process is tough. I sit around all day and they change ideas on me. Yeah, I go, and I get a writer script. I don't like I mean, this is these are basic thing that we know every complaint. And for everybody has the same issues. And I got news for you. Ambrose is not so great where he needs to be, you know, complaining and moaning and groaning about every little detail of his character. I mean. Well as. We're losing her signal a little bit. But you may you, you set it off very well. I mean we had a big argument in the group. Chat world order group chat because Andrew gold, Andrew Goldstein, basically treated dean Ambrose leaving talking. It was almost as if all Cogan left in nineteen ninety. I just don't understand that either he's like Wally gold sign was part of the shield. The shield makes tons of money. He's hitting Vince right in the pocket. They just did a shield reunion. Do you know where it maxed out it maxed out by headlining the fecta pay per view, right before wrestlemainia that no one paid attention to after a limitation chamber? That's where that's where they just had the shield, the shield was not going to be around for a while. So dean, Ambrose would've been what dean Ambrose has been a high mid card guy. That's dean Ambrose is. And if he'd never been in the shield, I don't know what he would have been. But I agree with you completely different. I mean, yes, it is interesting to hear him. Blatantly tell what many of us have already thought, which that the creative processes flawed, and according to a lot of people talent there, it comes from Vince McMahon. It's his vision. Everyone already thought that why do you think everyone who's even marginally smart? Wrestling fan says they can't wait for triple h to take. Over. It's like the most common thought in the world..
"wrestlemainia" Discussed on You're Welcome! With Chael Sonnen
"Now back to your welcome with jailed Sunan wrestlemainia, by the way. Did you guys catch wrestlemainia last last week? It was at Sunday. I had a couple of thoughts. And the only reason I would bring wrestlemainia I realized that product is crap. I'm well aware. I'm well aware of how painful it is to have to sit there for seven hours and watch a dull to come out as though they're video game characters or cartoon. They're wearing masks got paint on it fit. Right. It's embarrassing. I get it. But it's also relevant to us in some ways because we have two of our own. We have Brock Leser opened the show Ronna Razzie closed the show, and I think that you guys might find that interesting because I have a couple of stories line there's storylines there allow me to. Condescend to you. I'm going to speak to you just said did you guys? But I know what your answer is. I couldn't hear what you said. Allow me to condescend you for an interview that might have missed it. Let me start at the beginning of the show starts K pay per view and brought comes out Brock's the world champion and brought comes out first. So you assume as the viewer that he's coming out to cut a promo. He's going to build his fight. That's coming up later in the night. But then you notice at not wearing a tee shirt, and he kind of looks red. And he's got a sweat going. All sudden, I'm watching it with Joel. Then all of a sudden, we're going, wait a minute. I think Brock's about to wrestle. So Paul Heyman takes the microphone. This is great anytime they reveal a fourth curtain in wrestling anytime, they give to a smart marks out there. It's very fun. Paul Heyman comes out. And he says I want to get the quote, right? Paul Heyman says if we're not going to be the main event, then let's just come out now and get this over with. So I can take my client to Vegas where he will be. Ultimately respected. So okay. You get vagus the UFC lesser is on his way out alternately. I thought it was great. I thought it was a lot of fun. And I also thought it was really smart and good way for Brock listeners. Advocate, Paul Broncos appall. Hey, many. Thank you for this. By the way, which I'm sure Brock is smart enough to know what is giving him. But this was a tremendous covering of what was about to happen, which was a three to four minute squash match where Seth Rollins pin. Brock listener clean. Okay. You guys also have to understand if you're not wrestling fans, the relevance to a clean pin fall. If you want to do a screw job finish where somebody comes out and gets hit with a chair the referee's not looking in the brass knuckles come in. And there's a double team or cheating, though, holding of the ropes or the holding of the tight something along these lines that would be known as they screw job. Finish that helps to protect the person who loses so the audience can then say, yes, he lost. But the other person was outside of the rules. And they cheated the company achieves their goal to try somebody else out his champion, but the champion who gets defeated. It doesn't have to be a championship match. But the wrestler that gets defeated doesn't lose very much shine sets up for rematch sense for a lot of things when there is a clean pin. Fall into put this for perspective for you in nineteen ninety nine hulk HOGAN had only been pinned clean three times in his entire career..

"That could be a scary team. Just not I'll be the bar. It's not going to be a third member of the bar. I don't want drew. McIntyre would be that if he was like leading with. The bar is like muscle. Even though he's you know what I mean I could give behind that you know what I mean. They're a million percent in the lien to do with being is henchman on smackdown that that <hes> what else anything else that really sticks out. Let's wrap it all up MANRESA. Anything can just be remembered of feel good happy. You know what I mean like a first women's first black guy yeah I think again so boil it so yeah when I met but you know what I mean but I think I think this wrestlemainia will be more highly thought of as we get it farther away from it. I think it'll be more connick as we look back and say the first African American champion the first time women main event into Wrestlemainia at the time though I thought everything was fine and good but nothing made me say Monday morning to co workers who are kind of casual entertainment fans. You have to see fill in the blank. It was just all like I was good school. Yeah nobody my work and there's some wrestling fans ends that watched even I heard them. Kinda talk about it but none of them were like Oh man well. Did you watch right. It was almost like yeah resume man yeah it was long what other note I wanted to bring up before we get Outta here just just as just a partying shot. Is You know John Oliver two weeks ago did that. Hey fans it's on youtube channel stuff and not a one not a ones they need to well. It's hard to come up with a free healthcare. Oh care or something I don't know what they could have chanted but the Hashtag gives us a chance thing in that worked so but John Oliver firs many views that video gotten his true as it was fell flat on Wrestlemainia weekend which you know probably wasn't there ideal situation but it was just one thing I thought of as we're Kinda wrapping up here on Oliver to knows we know we're like oh man but you're gonNA fight McMahon thinking we're not ready to do that. Cycle is this. I feel like you go. Hey trips healthcare and he's like yeah. You're probably right. I mean like hopefully him. Several we get it. We just this guy's gotta die. I yeah they have enough personal cases the Scott hat halls and xbox of the world where we probably should do this yeah they should anyway. We'll leave it at that. I guess yeah man and then we'll come back next week and we'll the new you know the new year the new season kicking off for wrestling fans and we'll follow the draft or the superstar shakeup talk about where people end up. I think you're going to end up on smackdown and I'M GONNA. I'm GonNa go to raw good. I don't know how we're going to do the show but will figured out Wednesday so yeah so yeah. That's good even even when the smackdown moved Yep. We're good all right so we'll be back next week for another episode of the Spanish now stable fun fact cody Rhodes remains the only wrestler alert to win a championship rain by beating himself in a match the Spanish announce table The starlight lounge presents an evening with the progressive box..

"Dave thinks that Becky Lynn is going to win the main event wrestlemainia tonight, as do I he's rooting for Becky Lynn as m I Bryant arouses gonna start to fade from the picture, Charlotte and Becky will do battle forever. And they've got others Oscar, we'll get back involved, certainly nyah Jack broke Becky Lynch's knows and help to get Becky Lynch's over as a fan favorite is going to have a run with Becky Lynn, she's going to be the camp for a while. So I think she's going to win the main event, I think this is finally Ed for Brock Ladner. I think we get the last the Brock run. And I think south around takes title from him tonight. I apologize. The one thing. I didn't ask Dave Meltzer was Johnson was in for the hall of fame inductions, and he's going to participate in some way, shape or form a resume tonight. They're keeping it very close to divest is what he's going to do. What are we actually has a match or he just comes out and promotes an upcoming match in the next couple of months, or he's going to be part of the broadcast, but scene is going to do something. And they've done a real good job keeping that under wraps looking forward to that. And the match that I care about more than anything else is they gotta give Roman Roman reigns. Can't lose tonight. Canny guide beats leukemia and comes back, and he gets wrestlemainia match a great matchup against these Scottish psycho. I I'm a big Roman reigns ban. I'm hoping very much that he wins tonight and joy wrestlemainia. If that's what you do in on. This Sunday night time is now seriously going through the web just about done. We've only got a couple of minutes left here. Oh, I had a good MAC. Daddy tweeted today came in in the last twenty minutes, sometimes under the wire works from IM Steve Kraus who I think. Is a previous MAC. Daddy today when I'm not under present yards. Steve good tweeter. I think he's won previously. He went poet laureate for wrestlemainia force. Twas the night before wrestlemainia and all to the ring not a baby face was stirring, not even a sting the banners were hung from MetLife with care in hopes. The D undertaker soon would be there in. No, this is a new you're not getting undertake, I'm telling you, getting FINA, and you get a Becky Lynch win and a set.

"How are you? My friend. Will. Good pre sheet you coming on. So I was a big wrestling fan growing up. I don't watch a lot recently. But I'll tell you my first wrestlemainia that I do remember was wrestlemainia twenty one. I was a big John sina fan, and he defeated JBL. Always remember let my my parents, let me by the pay per view, and it was such a cool event as the youngster. What are some memories for you as someone that lived the life of a wrestler? But when you take a look back at your youth that comeback to mine of a memory as a youngster watching wrestling like it's really weird because like me coming up growth in the business. You know in nineteen eighty seven hundred eighty six eighty seven so many had kind of a couple of tradition. I was kinda in the game and earn you know, on my my craft as a wrestler while, but we own wrestlemainia was that it was not as big nowhere near the spectacle spent over the past. Ten fifteen years same level of the Super Bowl, you know, any other big event like World Series Stanley Cup or what have you so back in the day? When I was a broadcast of WWE, I actually had better wrestlemainia Messele wrestlemainia moments that I did when I was a wrestler because. Okay. So it's kinda sounds crazy. I had like seven concussions in my career. And my worst concussion was at a wrestlemainia. That I remember I was concussed. It's not a funny thing. But it's a true thing and the Houston astrodome, and I remember the number to pave you speaking JBL. He was one of my partners as me and the APA which ransom JBL against the right to censor. That was probably a little few years before you were watching, you know, when you talk about John senior JPL. Wrestlemainia and as a broadcast one of my favorite of all times wrestlemanias was at Safeco field in Seattle, and where the whole show is unbelievable limpest played their live. Michael cohen. I was broadcast and flow into the main event as broadcast team. So it was a usual for us as as an announcing duo and wasn't wrestling anymore. More time to broadcast. It was awesome. But I've been a part of all nine ten wrestlemanias working at the contract eight, and it really is big and his height as you see it really feels that way getting bigger as she is going with this. When you take a look back at your career, and you talked a little bit about honing your craft. How'd you get the interest to become a wrestler and take us through that process on how you became TASR the wrestler? Okay. Cool. Yeah. So I wasn't a diehard recipe as a little kid like I like wrestling on late at night on Saturday nights. I like brutal sample Tino being New York kid, even though he was from Pittsburgh. You know, I'm gonna talion he was a talian, and he was tough blue-collar. And I I was raised the blue-collar kid in Brooklyn. So it was easy thing to connect Bruno. But what happened was then I kinda like you said you get a little all the flow out of not cared about it. That's what happened me. And I was always in athlete, and and I was played football playing visits college football. And I I left school early. And you know, I was a stupid kid and my dad's like need a job. Yeah. I I need a job. So I was working different jobs and construction security in bouncing this that and the other thing, and then my dad knew a guy one of those stories who affirmat- pro wrestler and lived in Brooklyn, a guy named the unpredictable Johnny Rob's who was never a huge name W W F back day, but he worked WF for a lot of years as we call underneath guy. So not a guy who was one of the guys lost all the time. But a lot of times those guys better guys to train. Guys sounds weird. But it's true. You know, sports some of the best coaches guys played a game weren't that good at the game, right or wrong chill. Really big stars. You know, della check comes to mind, you know, so so anyway, degress so the thing was I trained to wrestle and I the job, and that was really it. And it took me about six and a half to seven years to make a living at the business. It was very. Hot to make a fulltime living. Then because it was social media was none of that. I send out VHS tapes and eight by ten photos. It was Email like digital photos of that so resumes and just word of mouth. And that's how it happened. And I got the bug freight. You know, I once I got trained I was always a physical left. Let a kid and I had a judo background. It was real hard tack like very hard to training like lot Harlem people understand like very difficult. Not just a physical empath the psychology and to interact with the fan base with people in the crowd, very difficult. I always was a kid that liked the challenge. So it was very challenging. So it was very very hard. Very frustrating. I wanted to quit many times over the first couple of years, but it worked out for me, obviously. So that's more or less low and short of it. Talking to TASR at official TASR on Twitter TASR in the moose on CBS sports radio Monday through Fridays from six to nine and eastern. The tash show dot. Dot com as well to check out his podcast. So I think it's a very interesting when you talk about the concussions that you suffered. So everyone knows that you kind of feel like, you know, what you're going to expect going into a match, you know, if you're gonna win, you know, if you're gonna lose, but in your case, no one could expect a concussion or an injury coming and you kind of forget about that take me through the emotions before a big match. Even if you know, you're losing or you're winning and how it's gonna play out. It's great question. And I love the way you posed the question because a lot of times over the years, you know, people Alexa, pro wrestler or prowrestler things and they could be insulting. Because you know, we're very pride. So people from the industry, you know, and the sport, and because it's a very physical demanding deal. And it's very tough on your family. You're on the road a lot, and it really it's it's a tough life. It's so let me actually let me answer your question. When you go into a match like it is the same butterflies in the same energy and exuberance and nerves and panic in enjoyment and fear that you would go into a big sporting event as an athlete. Okay. If your football player pitch about to get on a hill. And all the pressure pitcher has no, you know, you know, a a quarterback or whatever it was you know, the nervousness that the feeling they have before game. It's the same exact thing before match. How many years you have experienced those same nerves never want hurt? Each other to goal is for everyone to be safe in a match. You're not trying to hurt your Ponant. It is a show payment the finishes a predetermined, but not everything that happens in the matches predetermined. There is no rehearsals. There is no script that data could promise you when you get to the level of being a real pro pro the Pierre's seem WWE, they're not working script. Then I work in of. Everything is star choreographed. It's it's that's a big misconception. When you're pro. You kinda know someone's gonna do before they do it in the ring and it happened. So quick a little things that happened in the match little things that true pros know what that is. I can't tell you that. Because it's kind of we have a code so second magician. You magician doesn't make the building disappear, but a free shop. You don't know. How he did it. Right. The allusion us, right? So it's kinda like us got jumped off the top rope. And takes his me from the top rope. And guys laying on a man on his back. Tries his into the guy's chest. How split this guy sternum in half. How that just the kind of face how shatters triple about that. That's the auto Vienna. Pro wrestler. There's an art involve now sometimes you do get drilled. You do get hurt. I've been injured my career shorten my inr. Recreate how to arrest in broadcast because of injuries it's that physical. I mean, I've I've blew my knee out. I broke my neck to my by Steph till my tricep broke three fingers in separate matches. Brooklyn knows times. You know, I, you know, that's that's just some of the stuff, and I live with pain every day from the business. So it's very physically demanding and accidents happen all the time goal is not to hurt each other that that's the truth, but it happens 'cause it's very physical, especially today, all the special w content that they put out this cameras all over the place. Not just TV cameras. Digital cameras people that work for the company fans have cell phones video going so you can't you gotta bring the woods because you've got to bring the physicality if you watch matches closely you could see how physically he's men and women on. That's legit. You can't say that. So I that's a very important. Me let people know that. And I say all the time we're talking to CBS sports radio very own tasks from the most you could give them a listen Monday through Friday from six to nine AM eastern. You can also catch them out later this evening. A many of the same CBS sports radio Phillies that you listen to the game show on as he'll be doing a special edition of the tash show that will be at eleven PM eastern. And we'll be going all the way until two AM eastern us attest. I'm up against the break right now. Do me a favor. I'm gonna put you on hold hang tight with us. Because when we come back. I have to ask you everything about wrestlemainia thirty five to get everyone informed on what they need to know. And also want to ask you a question on rob gronkowski does. He have a WWE future. So you're listening to the guilt show and we're coming on back. Talking more wrestling with TASR right here on CBS sports radio. Are you looking for senior care for your mom or dad, but don't know where to start? Hi, I'm Joan Lennon.

But then the new day in their tag team gauntlet match. They won in now Kofi Kingston's going to wrestlemainia well in the crowds into this. Yes, we love Kofi then Roman reigns. Who is dramatic comeback from the came in the crowd was against him. And then he got sick. And now, he's the most popular wrestler. Drew McIntyre is going to lose to Roman rents. Yes. And after suss Rollins wins, which will probably happen Roman. Reigns. Is going to spear him can spare Seth Rollins you turn on each other. We you think Seth Rollins is going to be Brock listener. Yes, why because dean Ambrose is gonna distract Brock less than I do, you know, all this because I'm a predictor, and I want you to okay, great. What's going to be the worst match which match are? We not looking forward to Kurt angle. No danette. It's going to be the worst, man. No one likes Barron. Corbin you should've retired. You should've retired angle after broken neck. You look like a turtle. Good points. I can't I can't really be sending. This is is is you dude ricochet gonna be in wrestlemainia. But Shane McMahon is gonna have to have another retirement speech is Shane gonna go through a table from twenty five feet. Oh, yeah. Like all. I who see wrestling the MS puts Gomez gear, the mess. He's Shane McMahon's jerky. Turn on the MS. Yeah. Do that fast lane. And he hit the MRs father. Unbelievable. If somebody hit me you kick their ass. Yes. All right. So the champions coming out of this are gonna be Charlotte flair felt flyer. Who's gonna be the WW universal champ? Seth Rollins lines. So you think Lessner loses the title. Yeah. Well, and then what's the other? What's the other one? We care about Kofi. But is that a title at stake? Yes. Oh Daniel Bryant with a C ABI at the b at the he'll be at the hot dog. I'll be at the hotdog stand title. 'cause that's gonna be there that back. All right. Well this. All sounds great bed. Yeah. "But nobody follows you in that trend. I don't know if that's the way is the are cody's linguist Kodiak actually has some dexterity around the language is it was reservoirs in a French word that where you swallow the are or is it reservoir. I think it's reservoir with sort of a w sound in there. But I suppose if you're in Paris, you would say reservoir, Dan, also goes men wa why he really that's another one. So he has trouble with that having trouble. I don't know. You're right. I don't know if you're right, but just you're not American, right? Which is the only type right? It has a French origin. See might be right about this. Dan wrestlemainia? Oh boy. It's your favorite week at a year. It's wrestlemainia week. This this year wrestlemainia goes to New York. When's the last time you watch wrestlemainia, Dan? I don't think I've seen any of the wrestlemanias except for like some of the first one like and three or something the first one who actually still gets excited by wrestlemainia. Yeah. You gotta be real directed comeback. Mike travels to wrestlemainia every year. And I know Mike does I was kind of what I was getting. It's just ridiculous. I don't have any friends that are really interesting anymore. All right. So I'm actually not staying for the event this year because you're a dull adult sitting. You have a child. Dissolve ERI fair. I mean, I'll check wrestlemainia because I feel like it's a cultural thing but in travel on Monday, I'll turn to Raj. Just because billion Mike talk about this. Sometimes it's just like it just doesn't do anything for me. I under stress Nowaday used to be. To the chase. It isn't. I'm actually skipping out on the event. This is the first year that I'm skipping out on the event entirely since they went to San Francisco, which I'm like that's just too far. But New York's not a fun city full as you were. I don't mean to like poop on this weekend. Just to hang out with some friends might be going to the event late. So you're still doing all of it except going to the actual event. I'm just hanging out with friends. It's my annual guys trip. I'm not doing costs play..

"Week got a special in special type of show for wrestlemainia. I'll be back the week after that. Appreciate y'all hanging out also feel free to interact during the show on Twitter, Anthony Perkins. I miss not having a text line. That's the one thing with these shows. There's no CBS sports radio. Text line we use that a lot. So love that interaction. So if you want we can kind of make Twitter the old text line, but you know, these shows there's things that I want to talk about there's things that fall through the cracks. If you will Ryan Hickey is the executive producer of the program, and he puts together a list of topics sometimes that I don't get too. So we're going to end the show going forward. We're going to figure out what we're going to name it and all of that going in the future. But I got a buddy here, I might need to see if I can if he's got the proprietary rights to the name. I kinda like the name cracks slippers. The things that fall through the cracks. It's my man Matt Spiegel's invention. So we'll see if he'll loan it out to The Danny Parkin show, but whether or not we'll come up with the name soon, but Ryan Hickey taken away on things that might have slipped through the crack this week if not for this segment. All right. So we'll start with a piece at the athletic wrote on Friday discard the mentality of major league baseball when it comes to their arbitration battles with players in the stores revealed that the team that spent the least amount of money and arbitration salaries was excuse me was rewarded with a WWE style. Heavyweight belts to praise him for a job well done when hearing about the story one veteran was quoted as saying, quote, I be ready to strike tomorrow. With the story about teams actively trying to suppress wages and the lack of free agency movement is a strike before the CB concludes after the twenty twenty one season inevitable at this point. Before the CBA concludes. No, that's that's not inevitable. Is a work stoppage inevitable when the CBA concludes. I also would say no because the players union is so strong and the players have a pretty damn good deal. But they're not happy. I've talked to players about this. I've talked to journalists who've talked to way more players about this. And it's not as bad as it was in the early nineties leading to the ninety four strike, but it's arguably as bad as it's been since then that story from Mark Kerrigan the athletic about a literal twenty dollar belt being given out to the teams that win arbitration the most it is your goal to keep the wages low in arbitration, right? The player wants a lot. The teams won a little they end up meeting somewhere in the middle. But the idea of being celebratory for the team that suppresses the wages. The most is obviously a really bad book. And that player was probably speaking. Passionately about hearing that news because it is an insulting thing. Baseball's. Having a weird financial situation right now. There is just Zander Bogart's just signed an extension tonight with the Red Sox. So that is Paul Goldschmidt Chris sale. Blake Snell Zander Bogart's Kyle Hendricks. Jacob degrom as high profile players in the last two weeks who have signed lucrative long-term extensions before hitting free agency. So what happened with Manny Machado and Bryce Harper did not make players happy. It happened last year in free agency. I will go as far as to say that free agency is dead. But baseball's got a serious problem. Dallas kaikal still unemployed Craig kimbrel still unemployed guys not feeling like they should test free agency. This arbitration story the players of a really strong union, and they're really pissed so I bet against the strike because there's so much money in the. Game, and it's guaranteed contracts. So they've got a good deal. But it could get uglier before it gets better. So hell of a story in the athletic. Move to the NFL's officer, Sean Payton has been involved in the news this week a lot with the NFL passing role that he really pioneered replaying pass interference. But he also had some interesting comments saying too, many teams of pigeonholing themselves and their search for the next Sean McVay.
Women to close out WrestleMania for first time
"WWE is going to make a little history with wrestlemainia this go around at outta MetLife. Big. It's a big deal. It's a huge deal for the first time ever. It's an all woman main event, it's a three way match, you know, with Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey, whose champion were raw women's champions around the rousing shallow flair and Becky Lynch does the freeway match. It would be the main event. Some would call it the final match while from us. Call the main event Seles match. Yeah. So. You know, some folks thought maybe Brock listener. And Seth Rollins will be the main event, it's not universal title. This is for the raw women's championship. And you know. It says a huge deal. This is great not just for the business. It's just for the restaurant business, but it's great for women's wrestling because women's wrestling over the past several years has come such a long way, not just from WWE other companies to and the women aren't just looked at as as it used to be years ago. When it just I candy, he's a legitimate athletes. These are legitimate performance legitimate WB superstars, and these three ladies Shala flare rows and Becky alleged. They're gonna tear it down. It's going to be great. It's going to be great. And to do it at MetLife. Another just we're wrestlemanias. Always at these big big stadiums. Just like the SuperBowl, isn't pack them. Okay. You're gonna have close to eighty thousand people. Okay. At wrestlemainia people from all over WorldCom. And that just makes me so proud like as a former wrestler, a former wrestling broadcaster. You know, how many years it's taken? But it's finally like I was saying during the break to you and Andrew bogusch. Not really awesome. How so many worldwide mainstream sports verticals in sports, broadcasts companies, and and worldwide entertainment companies supporting with w w pro wrestling does on their websites on TV just a little while move says, you know, you're going to have Roman reigns. And all ladies the ladies in the main advantages named ought to be a sports center on ESPN on TV. I mean, so and and they're going to be doing suffered ESPN they did stuff last year too. So I'm just saying I just so it's just so refreshing that it's the the entertainment value is respected by the sports world. And the athleticism is is respected by the bulk of the sports world. So, but this is a huge thing. I mean, this is huge. And it's it's happy for I don't be rude. I'm happy for Charlotte flair and Becky Lynch of these ladies they paid their dues a lot of years. Lot of skin in the game. A lot of. A years. Lots of years, okay before WWE, Rhonda Rousey, she's new to the game. She'd been paid dues and the wrestling business. Great great MMA. She's a UFC hall of Famer. She's a amazing grand champion judoka. Which is a a junior champion. So amazing athlete and she brings massive stop power. But I'm old school wrestling traditionalists, and those two other ladies paid a lot of dues flair and Lynch, but Ronda Rousey is helping draw draw the helps draw the main event, obviously because I'm a stop out. Yes, she does. But not as popular as the other two amongst wrestling fans. No rescue domino. You said and you're right. And the reason is because bring name power put the wrestling fan or fans of Becky Lynn me the reason is because of respect. Yeah. Because they know like I just said the wrestling fan knows that those ladies paid a lot of deuce and Rhonda hasn't. But that's not the main reason she she's her character, which is good. They have for doing this more out of health the fans and a bunch of nerds in their basement. She's going that route which is called cheap. It's easy to do that works. It's fine. So that's helping hurt that helps her as a heel as a bad guy dead girl, get that heat. But the fans also know when she talks on a Mike is just terrible is no juicy. There's no other way to put. She's yes. I'm sorry. She's great, and my disrespecting handing she's done athletically, or what she means in for the WWE attached. But I mean, I just look at I look at the other two is just better overall. When you put everything in place. I, you know, I look at them as better overall women rested. And I just want to say this to like anybody who thinks wrassling. I listen, you watch any stuff leading up to the smack just for example, what Shala flare Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey, go on YouTube goal. WBZ's website watch the physicality that's happening with these ladies. Yeah. Okay. Watchhouse fifties kicks and punches are that will watch. And so anybody who thinks any different is a dumb ass. It just doesn't stand and they have this archaic thinking, and it's it's sad because that's kind of like uncalled Alec. It's like wrestling's embraced now. It's it's sitting here on a national sports radio show. And we're talking about this. You'll have you'll have broadcasters here on CBS sports radio. Talk about wrestlemanias that leads to on WFAN here. Locally to know wherever you might anywhere anywhere. You live right, right. Talking about this. Because it like I said they're fixing to be on ESPN. Right. It's it's clearly it's clearly more mainstream and has got more mainstream as we've gone along here. And I, you know, put all that, you know, everything you said is true TASR. I just think you look at the growth of the women are the women's wrestler. The woman wrestler in professional wrestling is just remarkable. Because you mentioned in terms of now, I remember the days of sable, right? And not even not even go back where you know, you mentioned candy and everything was calling that stuff. You know that birthday. We'll see. So. So it's so significantly different the way that they're treated and appreciated now much significant. Yeah. And they've earned it. I mean, and they do a great job. I mean, we've interviewed you know, we interviewed Charlotte all week. That's right special winter, she was doing stuff a special, which is which the WWE designate job their outreach into the communities, and helping those that need it, and she talked about that. And and we know how big of a star Becky Lynch's and Ronda Rousey, she's got some work to do in terms of. I don't know if it's ever gonna get there with her on the Mike, but we know how great of a of a physical specimen. Well, then the thing is I do think like just a my opinion that I think they if if if if something McConnell McGregor happens would w w at wrestlemania guy the table set here, you get this main event here like we said earlier, I talked about this earlier. And I'll talk about more on my podcasts on the tashaun get deeper in the woods on the wrestling. But the thing is like you got you got one of the girls listing Becky Lynch and who's probably gonna win the championship. At wrestlemainia, and for those that don't know harmonica. Her name is she's the man so speculates as you know, Muslim. She's the man that's like the gimmick. And 'cause she's the man, but she's a woman. But it's it's just a gimmick. Right. But anyway, she's from Ireland. Okay. We know Conor McGregor is from Ireland. We know Rhonda rows economy McGregor offer ends. I could see something happened where I would strongly predict if f Conor McGregor gets involved. You know, and everybody's gonna hack this for me on this radio station. Just throw some credit over here to task. I would think that Conor McGregor helps Becky somehow some way maybe if he's involved win the match that'd be cool and win the championship. Because then they could go down the road where Rhonda's pissed at McGregor, and they could do something potentially further down the

"Only the Spanish announce table up so two hundred fifty three of the Spanish announce table. Does that mean anything to you. It means that we are getting closer to Wrestlemainia. Obviously that's that's true but it was the wrong answer. It means nothing to you if he's absolutely nothing Tom. This weekend might have been something into. You know you had hot date I did I did it was a very emotional roller coaster night of events with my date at start it was pleasant and promising machine started off with good small talk escalated to joy and excitement exclamations even right like outlast nations pounding able however it's slowly slowly deteriorated to <hes> sadness and longing for better times I think most of your reflection and reflection yeah actually oddly enough. This date really reflected most most of my relationships in my life yeah including that that emotionality including that emotionality came from external sources on the other personal. You didn't necessarily 'cause I did not call right yeah right. Let's like every bad situation into my life. It wasn't my fault right and there was no sex not even nope yeah so by date <hes> for those who did did not know <hes> it was tim yeah. It was me right U.. P. Once I said no sexy can't be tim he gives it up to easy right but the roller coaster of emotions was due in part to the case date wildcats basketball all game in the big twelve tournament against the Iowa state cyclones in which it was a back and forth affair that ultimately ended with Iowa state prevailing and winning said basketball doc and then there was this family of Ohio state fans Aaron. I mean like younger kids to probably younger than ten right both the kids don't you think around that right and then they're all just of their gear and then I just sports hate them for no reason you know because they're having having a good time over there when I'm like yeah I think so you try to trip one of them. That was cool. I mean just the small one adult hurt. It won't hurt that bad. If they're a kid right you you can't really get hurt that bad as a child exactly they fall down all the time uncoordinated. I didn't ask you know what I mean. They ran over my foot man <hes> <hes> no but it was a fund. We went to a little spot down here near me. I never been there either <hes> but <hes> was Danny's Danny's Danny's beautiful Kansas City Kansas <hes> that may scare some people. There's different parts of Kansas City Kansas I assure you this place is not you don't need to be <hes> you know packing extra protection right but you don't need to go above and beyond for this part. Maybe maybe that's a good time. It was a it was a lower rated version of a buffalo wild wings very much was yeah. I mean although we had a nice sizable booth to ourselves. Oh Yeah it was great. I'd love to awkward side but you know whatever and that waitress men every five minutes achingly help you pay. Does it just chill chill because we didn't Ormeau like I think we've got like apps right like we didn't even order like full meals right like I tried to let them know when I get there. I was like I mean we'd be fun at the bar like I don't want to take up a mole. You know what I mean. She was Tiller booth and I was like that's what I explained the thing right and she was like yeah so like booth and I was like I mean Sheridan ever see the T._v.. Play Well T._V.'s you could visit. I tipped her well. I was notified from my keen APP that did you really mean to do you this. That's how I tipped her. I tipped her forty two percent allow you to do this and I was like yeah you double down on me there man that's good. I like that. I'm a cheap yeah. I'm a thrifty thrifty area. That was a economical yeah. No good I think we were we did with the the the guy friends do right we were there to bitch about work in the ladies and and you know although although <hes> I wanted to follow in your footsteps and promise goods and the not deliver <hes> I have said if you've listened to pass episodes I have a English still in my possession totally forgot Yep Yep I so it was about a twenty minute dry for me and I would say about sixteen minutes into the drive. I said son of a bitch and realized I forgot it. Well not turning around. You told yourself yeah plenty of times yeah. They told me that and I said you suck but you know what I mean. That's what friends do you know. We forget to send shirts. You know if we had to bring dolls return books action action figures actually yeah we we say we got action figures and then we don't give it to each other <hes> we each other borrow books but then don't return it. It's pretty cool. Actually we read some more of that book this week. Here's another thing I did so yeah so we're in this fund journey of Tim Reading the autobiography of Daniel Bryan. I have read it. It's my book island to to Tim Yeah. Tim is taking a walk about with the book stuff I've read in. I don't yeah so to give people an update because most people are familiar with being O'Brien's career where you at in his career. You're in journey par in the book where he's like <hes> I. I think the last time you ask I was at this part but I was starting it and I got no further. I'm at the end of the part where he's <hes> right arriving at Mania Ania right for the big mania thirty right so at now as that part as he told that story going through that day right like leading up through all that stuff <hes> gotten through that so I'm still I think that's still about halfway through the you know what I mean like. I don't even think yeah yeah and for people that have not read the book in maybe can come on house him said yet they tell the book in two stories it starts with the beginning of his career and the next chapter goes to the day of Wrestlemainia thirty so it's you know I started my career in Seattle Yada Yada Yada Yada next chapter on Wrestlemainia thirty I did press as we woke up in the hotel room Yadda Yadda Yadda then so it's a little bit of a jump back and forth were telling two stories but I'll ultimately leads to one conclusion <hes> so if peo- said like what are you talking about your in the middle of the book it's Wrestlemainia thirty. It's because it's old man store. Isn't that format. It's so there's hard for me to Kinda. Describe also then exactly where imagine that because I kinda don't yeah I mean it jumps back and forth I I would say I'm roughly halfway through well. Good luck hopefully hopefully by episode three hundred we get it done to go. Look and give you a page number update teach how swim chunking hey have you. Have you done any <hes> bowling. We do not do bowling this weekend because my wife was out of my wife is out of town until midday Sunday <hes> with a friend helping her out and <hes> so we did not do the bowling this weekend again we did do swim trunks <hes> soccer practice yesterday. <hes> and I'll have his first game back <hes> since the injury on Saturday so that'll be interesting so we'll see if I get kicked out already right yeah two thousand nineteen yes. Yes Hey nineteen yeah. We didn't do too much this weekend. As you can. Tell we're kind of just filling some time here as we kind of collect ourselves getting ready for the podcast the episode because we don't back check or prepare but we do have some news headlines and Tim. You actually informed me of a big headline when we start off with your new story of the week the iconic W._W._e.. Headquartered seen it seen it before I was sent pictures you ever been been there. No I've never been but I've definitely seen it. You know dozens of times and always wanted to go. I've stood on the doorstep. You know you can't really I mean you could go in but they're going to get out of here. You know what I mean. There's not you know what I mean. They don't really do tours and stuff like that. <hes> <hes> but I mean it's iconic and you can see it just has this iconic like ominous on the landscape if you will and they are getting rid of that on their moving their headquarters which <hes> it a process it should be complete by twenty twenty one. They think a to a new spot Latin Stanford that's newer bigger made for more with video production in mind they'll be able to how's everything that's now. In Different Buildings Yada Yada Yada you know corporates grow and there we go at it makes sense because you know as with these huge conglomerates or even just mega-powers one industry grow such as an E._s._p._N.. Or a Disney which Disney owns E._S._p._N.. But you know what I'm talking about those companies that are iconic <hes> Google facebook facebook even now they've moved away from. They've moved away from two towers such as W._W._e.. Has More to a campus where essentially like a college campus that building does this and then this building does that and then as you drive drive down Vince McMahon Boulevard has this and so I can definitely see them going what they've got is. It's in a corporate like building park right but I think the building is all there's right but I think it's like almost like I want to say day from what I get it from the story and again fat check. It's kind of like a corporate woods if you know what I'm talking about there if you're in the Casey talking about so kind of one of those things and they've got the building least four like years upon us upon. Where is the one they've got now? I think they own so they're going to. I think they're gonNA sell that one yeah. That's what I read in the quick report that I read as they're going to sell that off and then move into this woods section yeah. They need something <hes> it's going to be interesting hopefully with the new renovations like you said twenty twenty one is far enough away to where you can get some planning now and have it executed by twenty twenty one but but it's also not too far away to where you can just kind of sit on and go like oh I guess way maybe we should do something but it would be cool is if you know one of the biggest rumors each wrestlemainia season is wouldn't it be awesome if they had a physical W._W._e.. Hall of fame and with a new campus you know or whatever we're going to call this headquarters. I feel like this would be the best opportunity to say here's our headquarters. You know. Those two buildings are designated for the W._W._e.. Hall of fame starting with Andre going to just you know whatever that locations the best at Stanford Connecticut you know Yeah and you know they've talked about going to Tampa because Tampa is also kind of like the second home for W._b.. <hes> I think it'd be cool for Stanford and this is why this this is why I'll make that argument is with Tampa. You're competing with a lot right. You have the baseball team. You have have the football team you have the beaches you have. The Bars Stanford has can rain and even though there's not like a destination place you're the big King Shit. You know. You're the big fish in a small on kind of thing and so what people don't get either. I mean that's not I mean it's not part of the New York Metropolitan area but a lot of people that work in the New York Metropolitan area live in Stanford or those kind of surrounding cities..

"Yes, sir. Yes. Twenty. As we speed towards wrestlemainia wrestlemainia, which is interesting is the word I will use and we will get into all of that very store shortly along with stat guy, Greg who I'll be talking to and just a couple of minutes as we get him connected. We have a lot to get to this week. Something's good. Something's good. Something's not as good. I'm not gonna lie very excited about March madness right now. It's like that weird moment right before you get to wrestlemainia where you're also just so damn excited about March madness. If your sports fan that you can get, you know, some level of relief if their stories that you've got questions about, you know. For example. Ramos stereo and some oh Joe, but we'll get to that with as she g as well. And do some things outside the ring. And I listen, you know, I'm trying to be I'm always I'm always trying to be positive. That's how I do. I really do. I don't like especially wrestlemainia season. I will always look for the best of what's available. But sometimes it's just the best of what you what's available that you want. It's good. It's great. Let's talk about Dollar Shave Club. Okay. 'cause Dollar Shave Club has everything you need to look and feel your best. All right. And you never have.
UFC star Conor McGregor arrested after confrontation with fan
"We're talking to you have seen drain not so much to talk about in the world of Emmett may. But the biggest headlines this week came outside of any cage octagon ring anywhere, the MA is held. And that's because Kahn regretted was in news again con McGregor arrested in Miami, not for cocaine not for punching someone in the face. Not for the gamut of things he could be arrested for heels arrested for taking someone's phone smashing on the ground and stopping on it the phone, obviously like every phone out. Now, I phone Samsung is over thousand dollars, which pushes it into the realm of being a felony. So Connor was arrested. Everyone treated him. Like he was public enemy number one. Like he was out Capone like they just found out Connor was running a drug ring, Allah. But some of the greatest HBO sear. Series, which Connor would make a great HBO villain. But just just saying we got time on his hands. But it's not it wasn't breaking bad. It wasn't the wire. It wasn't sopranos. There was no crazy ring going on Conor McGregor smash to fall and people lost their damn mind. The headline on every sporting news. Ran is PIN had alerts y'all who ESPN it was on leading sportscenter. I I don't get it, man. This is not a big deal to me at all. You know? There's there's so many other things that you look at kind of Greg. It'd be like, you know, the whole there's so many things you could look at this isn't one. I mean, this is kind of the equivalent of the fan yelling at Russell respect the other night. It's it's it's a cell phone guys. Like there's worse things you could have done. I don't care. The only thing that makes me, you know, now, you have a much mugshot like walk Becky Lynch out at wrestlemainia. Let's do this. Now, we're talking about a penitentiary do so got that a lot more. Irish penitentiary. That's the route you have to go. So I don't care. Ultimately. I don't give a shit like come on guys. I don't care. It's news. Yes. It's newsworthy because the person who didn't not necessarily for the crime. If I'll ventured as a normal person did this they wouldn't get arrested citation something, I think it'd be Conor McGregor and police station could say what they want. I I work in news every day. I understand I've been around police and different departments in everything they like publicity as much as the next thing

"You guys tickets? Yeah. I will. I went to wrestlemainia once when it was in Orlando because I felt like it was a cultural event like a really an iconic thing that I had to be a part of. So I drove there. I prepaid like fifty bucks for parking. I walked around that trash heap of the stadium that now is known as campers world or whatever but used to be the Citrus Bowl. I endured. The thing. I enjoyed the most was seeing how happy people I like a lot were at this event by brother-in-law John a couple of other people I saw there, and then and then gronk was there. I remember. I mean, but you made memories with your son. He's going to remember that forever. Like twenty years dad 'Member this time, we went to wrestlemainia in Orlando is so fine. If you were to pull my son out of class right now and say, yes, or no you have been arrested. I don't think he'd be able to answer correctly. You know, I'd like to say someone who's been to five wrestlemanias. Wow. Not that like, you should have found some joy in it. But I will say that stadium is horrendous. Yeah. For someone like you who needs to that little extra to be engaged the seats weren't that? Great. There was a there was a pylon, right, right? In our way to where you couldn't even see in the ring. Right. So between the stadium and the seating. I can see how our not traditional fan could have had a time that wasn't mind-blowing. Yeah. I don't know that it would have improved to the point where I would have stayed past. The first match shaneco MAC versus that other guy AJ style. Oh that was great. Match. That's what people were saying. And I was underwhelmed by it. So I was like, well if that was a great match, and I wasn't even remotely interested. We should just get the hell out of here. Go to yellow dog cafe and get something. Well, that's why wrestlemanias coming to your hometown. We're going to wash that taste out of your mouth. All right behind Jesse cage in the front row. Just love and wrestlemainia twenty twenty baby. I'm good. I try to get you guys better seats than that. But I I'm good. I don't need to see it again. I I don't want. I believe you today. But I think as we get closer to that date. I think it will reach a fever pitch. But you will be so blown away at how this city is overtaken by the WWE foam will be too strong. You won't be able to deny it on that day. No, listen, I'll have the same reaction. I do every year Gasparilla, which is it's neat that all of those people are into that kind of thing. But I'm more than happy to stay away from the crowds. And and isolate myself from something that I can appreciate, but I wouldn't enjoy this is this is like the Super Bowl when it comes to town. There's parties celebrities there's parties and they're celebrities. You guys can go to your celebrity parties. I'm not saying I wouldn't attend a celebrity party. If I was invited. We need your help getting into those. Yes, sure, I'm more than happy to act as your hor. And and really help you guys out with any access that I can for you. I'm not shutting it as a show. I've just personally going to say, oh, yeah. No. I'll be there. I'll be there. And then I'll give you guys my laminates. Well, the thing is is this isn't just wrestlemainia one night phenomenon. We're talking week long WWE access. We're talking the hall of fame induction ceremony. Monday night raw down takeover. This is a serious week long. Wow. That's a lot. It really is going to be the epicenter of the world. Some would say not enough on a serious note. I was texting geo because he's been very excited about this. He takes his son to all the events. And I remember every single of wrestling event that my parents took me to when I was a kid, and I cannot wait to take baby Kush to this. Because I feel like even though she'll be two and a half. It'll be something that she remembers forever. So I started tearing up thinking about that the other day. I my parents never took me to a wrestling of that. But when I was in high school, we will go to the Eddie Graham. Sports complex out in east, Orange County. And we'd see I think we saw dusty Rhodes wrestled there. I saw I don't know. Why I remember the Bushwacker before they were the Bushwacker, the sheep herders Butch and Luke lick your head. They lift a lot of heads. I don't think mine was one of them. That was always like, I don't know if those people were always plants, but like there were some parents that work cool with a grown man licking their child's head. I don't think I'd like someone licking my son's had different go. Yeah. You're right with the different areas. Like the Michael Jackson thing they were huge stars. Like, I mean, who's going to be upset? So I'll do my best to get you. What is twenty twenty? Right. What does it April fifth? John. I actually believe the date that I saw was a little earlier of the double check Eero away. Yeah. It is pretty much a year. But it's a big it's a big deal for for the whole city. I mean, I know I don't know if it was the Tampa Bay sports Commissioner, whomever, but I mean, that's like getting a Super Bowl. That's like getting a final four. I mean that that's a big yet to have that here. Yeah. I am happy for the city. I'm happy for everybody involved. You brought it in. I saw that our buddy Titus was up there speaking this morning as well as a whole bunch of other wrestling people. Bob buckhorn dropped the same. Uber. Driver joke there that he did on our show. I'm not mad at him. It played well in our room. Go ahead and use that. And and I'm excited for you guys. It's just one of those things where I like. Wow. I am on the outside looking in on this one. But you could get in. I don't want to go. But like what if he did it would be so cool. I could start texting you. Several times last year. I went to wrestlemania even watched I watched that rod draft that they had whether it's Monday night robbers Tuesday night nitro. It's a it's a smackdown. Whatever it is. And I was like man, I really gave it a shot. I swear John advertised by the time April twenty twenty rolls around is going to be so interesting that when we all go together you and I are going to break down to a wrestling match in the stands and Gerardi. Abbas referee shirt on their opinion. That that'd be cool. I'll do the job for you. There was a fake wrestling match right in front of us that wrestlemainia. Yeah. I went I went viral for that. I'm a video has millions of us. The of the fake illustrated tweeted out my video was happening. Literally right in front of us that those interesting I made friends with I made friends with those kids I've stayed in touch with them to this day. So not only is it a cultural phenomenon, but you you meet new people and you make relationships last a lifetime. All that sounds terrible to me drew grab alive you. Hey, guys. Jimmy, jimmy. What's your level of excitement when it comes to wrestlemainia coming to Tampa one turnbuckle to five turn buckles? Five turned buckles is the best. He's a six right there up with you. Oh, good for you. Ingestion? Some that'd be awesome. Says you guys wrestling almost two-thirds of drew grab alive. Loves wrestling. So what did you guys did like who wants to with the bone? That would be awesome. No. We don't want to. You trying to horn your way..

"I definitely didn't say I don't think, but but isn't it? But as is an interesting wrestling fans work, though that like no one was like, yo this is amazing. But everyone was ready to talk last week about the the random next equal ups. That's how it is though. Ben like wrestling fans, we we in the of the complaining wrestling fan. And I'm not saying that everybody, but that the complaint certainly do seem to dominate the conversation. Yeah. I mean, I guess people are like that about a lot of different fields in general that their passion about. But I thought those funny I was so pleasantly surprised by that. And here's my question. Does that now ultimately become the main event of wrestlemania? Well, or the one say actual main event. Get it might be one of those situations where like it's the actual main event in the storyline that dominates. A lot of the airtime. But it might not go on last. No, I think the girls are going to go on last on principle. But guess what we needed this story because the Becky Rhonda Charlotte story would really start to wear if that was really all we had in the way of a major story for the next six weeks. Yeah. And I mean, it's funny. You say that though because now when you look at it like, this is shaping up to be a they do it every year like they hit that law, and they just stayed if a little bit and they get to the rumble and the rumble is fine. But then still like, okay. What next and then they hit the hit that second gear that that third gear. And now, it's like you got triple h Batista. But then you have Kofi who was just pulled out of his opportunity fast lane. Could he end up facing, Dan, Bryan, wrestlemainia, you have the the women who like you said, they're doing great. And then Roma's back you have to know that he's gonna play some type of role in that universal championship match. You know, does he help Seth does he turn on Seth? I don't like who knows. It's just a lot of questions all a lot of. Interesting questions with answers that are going to keep you captivated. Now. Just how disappointed will everybody be if Kofi gets replaced as he did? And that's it. There's nothing else about it. He just got replaced and he's done. I think I think people will be really disappointed, but I also think that. That the people I think w smarter than that at this point. I've had my periods of doubt doubting them. Lord knows I have. But I think at this point they are smarter than that. And I'm gonna I'm gonna give it some time. I joked on Tuesday, though, that they they will do so good for black history month, and then they just pulled coffee out of it. Some people are actually taking it seriously. I mean to me, I think it's a vote of confidence that. That Vince screwed Kofi 'cause like. Historically, look at the people that that they do that to you know, you got becky's on that list. Daniel, Bryan, Brad Hart, stone, cold DX. He's in. He's in good company of people who are like been screwed over by the McMahon's. And this case, Vincent, man. And I do think that we're going to see him again in the title pitch on the role. Trust media. Well, I certainly hope that's the case because k overs Daniel Bryan with no story is fine for fast lane. But that's because I hope you're right. Hope Kofi does something either at fast lane or after fast lane. And we find out that what we're getting his Daniel, Bryan and Kofi because everyone had to see the matches. They had and think oh, this this is wrestlemainia. Yeah. And not just the matches. But the crowd response to the matches as well. I think that's what puts over the top. It's just like. Cope fee is like a white hot baby face like a one appear white meat baby face. And we haven't seen anybody at that level out say since dang O'Brien..

"Mention the news about your beloved wrestlemainia. And I know you're super excited about that. Oh, man. This'll be my I've been to four wrestlemanias in my life traveled the world, far and wide. And now it's coming to to our own backyard here at Raymond James stadium in twenty twenty it's going to be. So I mean, you've gotta I mean, even a non wrestling fan has to be able to appreciate the spectacle. And just the how big of an event this really this really is even if you like wrestling. No, listen, I'm a fan of it for Tampa. Right. And I'm a fan of it for wrestling fans because it'll give them their Super Bowl. That's great. Like when the Super Bowl comes a Tampa. Yeah. I think that's awesome. I'll be on a little more invested because I want to see the buccaneers go and in wrestlemainia, I thought I would be interested in Laney. I really thought that like I would attend and there'd be that. Aha. Yeah. Where I looked around and my brother-in-law Zahra love him my nephews there, you're there like a Mets people who love the spectacle of it. So let me ask you this. Because I obviously go. Oh because I love wrestling. Yeah. But so much of why love wrestlemanias. Specifically is the spectacle like part of it. Like, I went to wrestlemainia. I think it was thirty two at in Dallas where you know, Jerry Jones, you know, where where the Cowboys play. Yeah. Going inside so much of that experience the matches were great. It was fun. But just seeing that many people in one area to wash wrestling like that part of it alone is very sad is just fascinating. Yes. I found myself fascinated but not necessarily in the best way. People fill up, Raymond James for monster trucks. I know that's fun. That's cool. Saying like if you're going to think that that's can pass Betty thing pass. I just I found myself looking around going my God, look at all of these people who are not you're not just looking at Orlando at that point literally traveling from all over the world to go to wrestlemainia. We'll bring much money to the local economy. It's going to be I was trying to do the math in my head because they wrestlemanias in April. So I was trying to think if it would coincide possibly with NHL playoffs because that could be tricky because when wrestlemainia comes to town they have about three or four other events that are usually held at the, you know, the biggest arena town, which would clearly be Emily's. Yeah, for sure. So I don't know. Maybe they'll have to rework that if the lightning airplane, seventy seven five seven five ju grab alive who are you? Hey, what's up, dude? Hey, so nine thousand nine hundred eighty nine with the USS. There was five bars in ebor. Right. So the bar that we you staying at at right by US shepherds called CC's was on Pletcher Fowler on Pletcher. Right..

"Your your hand comes back Lessner serves out gets the testing done. You guys have a big fight you sail off into the sunset big payday for DC because you fight listener. It's a million dollar pay per view. But what we now February what has not been announced DC versus Leser DC still telling us is hurt. We just went to the Royal rumble in Leser was not beating that night. I something tells me he's headed to APRIL's wrestlemainia. So we looking at the summer of two thousand nineteen before we can see another title defended. I man if they can if DC can come back sooner and he can squeeze in me. Oh ch-. I think I'd rather see that one that on the opportunity for the other one. Here's. But that's like cross promotion. It's a risky fight. Every time you walk in there. You know what? I mean, maybe, but what are we all going to sit around for less there forever? I mean, just look, you know, I love these a big fan of DC. But at some point, I can only like, you know, when people call into the show like Marco from Waco or whoever else, and they asked me I can only lie through my teeth so much and say less their deserves it, you know, before people start giving me that look like bitch. You know what I mean? I can only lie a certain amount of time before I go. Yeah. I don't know. I had to some at the Royal rom on wrestlemania. You know, I'm running out of excuses. I got to be able to tell them in this guy down sport best fight the best. And this is what happened this guy undershot, blah, blah, blah coaches deserves that shot. So they either gotta figure something out with DC and lesser to quell that and give steeper another opponent. Or throw me in there. I mean, you know, what I mean? I think they already know. I don't look at it. Just from another, man. Engle think of the pro wrestling angle at wrestlemainia, which a lot of people watch. I seriously doubt Brooklyn. There's going to lose that match at the end of the match is probably gonna pick up the microphone say something. Like, I just won this strep guess where I'm going next. I'm gonna fight DC or whatever. And that's probably gonna that. Just that's all money, dude. It really is. And I think that's the way that you have these looking at it as we're going to have another guy. They're going to do the promotion for us. We're gonna get all those wrestling geyser to go. We got to see that in tune in. You're right. He doesn't deserve it. But at this point, man, I mean is it shocking. I wanna see CPO chick. Pull Nate Diaz. Brooklyn. You took everything I. Well, whatever, you know, Allah can do rant about it. And and share my thoughts. But you know, I I respect DC, and I do want him to get paid. He's a guy that's almost forties ready to exit the sport. And if you go off with a big payday great, especially because he's a big pro wrestling fan, and you can just tell he kicked out when he got a chance to call out Brock listener and lesser came in and shoved them that was that was heaven for a guy like that. You know what I mean? But that was July of two thousand eighteen right now, we're in February of two thousand nineteen with no one else if you were to tell me what don't forget, the fighting April or may then I go. Yeah. All right. I guess that'll be ten months by then. But at least there's something there now, I gotta wait 'til APRIL's wrestlemainia and hope that there's an announcement that leads me to next July. I don't know the toll is the hand was recouping. And that's he's had a setback. I don't know if you've had a hand injury. So maybe there's been a setback who knows all right? We gotta take another break. You're listening to MA junkie radio on Sirius XM fight nation challenge. Three stay close. We'll be back, and we'll talk a little bit about Nick D as again who his buddy Gilbert Melendez has said, you know, could possibly done. He may have hung them up and Anderson Silva, another legend he fights on Saturday at UC to thirty four. We want to see we want to discuss is the UFC mishandling some of these legends..
Super Bowl 2019: Pregame coverage before Patriots vs. Rams
"The game, of course, is a big part of it. But also there are other sort of story lines beyond the the Rams and the patriots in a couple of them. There are interesting to me is I want to start Myron with with with gronk. He's kind of had a resurgence a little bit here in the playoffs starting to see a little bit of the gronk of bold wrestlemainia is the first Sunday in April. I'm of the belief that I'm going to see grog make his debut in the WWE it wrestlemainia and then his time in football. Is over. After today. Do you agree with that? And do you think that whatever happened today win or lose could have any effect either way? Well, I think that makes a lot of sense excuse me, especially because you're talking about a guy who can probably get millions of dollars on a pretty limited. Wrestling scheduled Cadillac around. Arousing Brock Leser, like it's not like the old days where he's going to have to wrestle three hundred days out of the year. This guy's going to get paid to show up on special events and make millions. He's talked so much about how much money he saved throughout his career. He's talked about not wanting to play too long. I don't know if today affects anything because he's a first ballot hall of Famer whether he wins or loses today, he's got a bunch of money in the Bank. And I think he could be the next rock in. In. I think he could be that. He's got a personality. You're not a wrestling guy. He's not the rock rock. Am wrestling. He could be that. Well, rock started out as what rocky my via. He was fighting from the family name. And then he emerged as his own way. I can't broadcast that personality in the WWE. We'll promote him. I think he could become a superstar who eventually goes in the movies and forgets football. All right. I I'm not going to argue with the wrestling part of it. But because you're wrong. But Dan, do you think this is it for I? Yeah, I do. But I do believe that tonight's result swings that okay? I can see if they lose tonight especially in close ballgame Brady convincing gronk for another year. Come back for another year. Don't forget is AO win the first round tackled. It's not part of this team. He'll be back. Like, we give me one more run. Gronk I can see that happening. Now, if they win I do believe that he calls it a career as he rightfully shit. Don't take don't. Remember, the comments he made this last week of him talking about the wear and tear, and how much it weighs on you. Mentally, and how hard it is to get hurt and have to practice, and how difficult it that difficult of a thing that is now to say that he's the next rock is absolutely outrageous. Like the row how first of all the rock is the rock was a guy that went into wrestling because that was the the the means to an end that was the vehicle. News and his family had been. He was going to you second of all the rock is incredibly business savvy and Hollywood savvy works like a dog like this is a guy. When it comes to football. Yes. When it comes to training for football. Yes. But he doesn't. I mean, the rock literally works like a dog. I need more talking about the rotten. Now. I saw the rock when he was in survivor series as rocky my via no one knew he wasn't good. And he was trying to figure out who he would be gronk could come in in the social media air, which rocketed the rock didn't come in in the social media era. All I'm saying is gronk could be a superstar in wrestling. Well, let me add gronk is only he's only twenty nine it feels like he's been around forever damnit. He's only twenty nine now he's taking a lot of hits bodies like a forty year old guy. But I guess what I'm saying is listen to countdown to kickoff on ESPN radio you've been through this process and Myron, and I haven't the process to decide you know, what that's it. Right. That's a hard process for every athlete. No matter the level, whether you're elite or not is it in part of it. I think is do I have something to go. Do do you think? I mean, we we talk about wrestling and a lot of people may roll their eyes. But it is something I know he can do if he wants whether it can be great or not he can do it is that talked to me about the process of saying I'm walking away. And and how how how players go through that mindset. Yeah. I mean for for me, you know, it was a great majority of it was I don't love the crap anymore. Doesn't it feel like he doesn't either? Yeah. I mean, that's that's no you're not gonna pay. Now granted if someone was going to pay me five million dollars. I would have dealt with it again, if someone's gonna pay gronk ten or twelve million dollars, maybe, but you get you deal with the crap. Like, so many people doing their job you do with that crap. Because you still love it. You love all the things that competition the locker room, the fellas the drive to be great the work, you love all that. And then once you don't love the dealing with the crap anymore that stuff doesn't matter anymore. It's not worth it anymore. And that's when you start facing the question of do I wanna do this anymore? And it makes it completely now. When I went through my transition, I wasn't for sure. Like, I was like all right. I want to get into analysts in broadcasting get into TV TV. And I was like I'm just gonna go rather than sitter sitting around. And wait. So I knew that there was at least the opportunity there for me. Gronk scan have way more. More than I had presented to him. But if you get to that point where you're done loving, the crap that you have to deal with and there are avenues for you to go. It makes it such an easier decision in move for you to go. You know what I'm done? Here's the next Chad having those options, I do think is is huge. You will have a lot of options. And you didn't know when you quit you're going to get to do a show with Matt Jones in my. But then sometimes I have earlier if I did exactly the Lord's blessing. There you are. So let's talk about the next to the players on the field. Maybe the person that has the most sort of its state today. Myron is your guy Tony Romo? I mean. I'm not sure an announcer has gotten this level of praise maybe ever like universal praise of people going Stephen Smith said is the best performance he'd ever seen from an announcer. And so the thing is that's awesome. Except you've got one more game. And I always of the opinion the most important two days in your life or the first in the last at a job. Well, the last impression he's gonna get from us is this game. Is there pressure on him to recreate the magic from two weeks ago? I think there's a ton of pressure on him to do that. And I think the problem is announcers like him who get this early praise. How many of them go down as being folks? And a lot of people don't like, you know, it's unfortunate because you start out liking guys like Tony Romo. He deserves all of this praise, but because you expect now people expect him to be some profit every game the minute. He shows any sort of flora weakness people are gonna jump onto that and start to criticize him. But I think he's facing more pressure than any announcer at a Super Bowl or any analysts had a Super Bowl that I can remember because people think he's like something we haven't seen before. And now he's going to have to deal with that pressure. Incomes care like most of the time. I'll be honest with you, Dan. I don't even know who the announcers are until I realized what network game is on. But with Romo I mean, there are prop bets on how many he's gonna call. Like, this is he is not the biggest story the game is. But you know, he's the second third or fourth. Biggest story. I think a big part of it too is like people are having a ton of fun listening to him. Torino because not only is he very good at what he does in. I've said this as a broadcaster networks you better have quarterbacks on there. Because you you've gotta be able to get people to understand the game different levels that communicated to all kinds of people. But it's the fact of he continuously telling educating people on the wise in house put it's fun. Like, you're having fun. Like John Madden was the last announcer. Who seemed like he was having as much fun as Romo, and it's it's okay. For him to talk over Jim Nance for a second. Because if you were sitting at a bar with your friends are in the living room having a beer with your friends. You talk over your buddy here in this moment. So it's not like this. You know in cookie cutter ish. Oh, we don't do that. Because it's television. But what happens if I'm saying is really good. Then I'm gonna do it. You know? And I think that there is that appreciation for for from people going like this is really good. And he's telling me stuff, that's really. Good. But also like the fact that there's really nobody else on TV sounding like him in ways. Like that like talking over Jim Nance, Jayme lake. It just seems like he's having a blast doing it. There are very few announcers who make the crossover into a personality that they matter Madden did mired. I'd say Barkley has vital. Did like there are many. And I think romo's headed groups, Dan Orlovsky will continue to be on. Would you agree with that? Yes. I think he is definitely in that group of guys where you go. You're now going to watch games because romo's attached to it doesn't matter the game because he's gonna make any game more interesting. Just because of who he is become he's become a part of the game now, and that's a good thing. Because like damn fed people. Like, I think I honestly think there are very few announcers that them just being there matters. I think John Madden. Did I think dick Vitale did Bill Walton? I think dick Vitale did. And I think I think Tony Romo is is sort of becoming like that who's going to win the game. After all this talk who actually is going to

"If the thought is because she took that archaic. Oh, and she took that super kick from dolphin. She took that six one nine and she did it. She eliminated. Mustafa ali. You know when Randy Orton on smackdown. This week looking at Moustapha Ali and saying didn't you get eliminated by a girl that them's fighting words. I wouldn't be against seeing Niger versus Randy Orton at wrestlemainia. I kind of think that it would be it would be a ballsy choice for sure I I'm interested to see how far WWE is going to go on this. Because for a while it looked like they would never do an inter gender thing again. But I'm interested to see if that is something they're experimenting with and considering for wrestlemainia I for one I'm behind it. And I would have this conversation with anybody. I think it's a cool idea. So yes, that was the Royal rumble. I thought it was a solid show Seth round winning again predictable. But predictable in a good way. I he should have won. You know, I think a lot of us for saying that from the beginning everything was at least good if not very good at the Royal rumble. I think everything that I'm remembering was pretty good. It was just that. It was so long. The everything kinda gets mixed up, and you get tired, and you get fatigued and all this stuff if they could if they could make a show that solid into four hours. I think that people would be coming off of it with a better attitude than they are as as five hours. Let's talk about Daniel, Bryan. So he gets past AJ styles at the Royal rumble. And then he comes on smackdown. Eric Rowan is by his side. But Eric Rowe. And being by his side is not the only thing that they've added to his arsenal. Because he finally has gotten rid of the WWE championship. That's backed on leather threw it in the garbage a lender blade style and came out with the hemp and oakwood WWE championship. And I think that I love a sustainable material WWE championship. I love how far they're going with this. Daniel Bryan thing. I love how he's embracing his characters much as he is because he's drawing from real life. You know, Dana Brian is vegan. Daniel, bryan. Probably does believe a lot of this stuff. D judgmental is the character is, but you know, you can relate to a lot of what's going on here. So I really I really am enjoying this. Daniel Bryan thing, and I think that the the title is the icing on the cake. It's just awesome. Just awesome. If you haven't seen it yet. Go look at it. They probably posted photos of it in the discord room, but it's got like turquoise pieces as accents. And it looks like it's got a velcro strap not snapped. Because it is on hemp. And yet that also leads me to believe though that that titles not going anywhere. I don't think that they introduce this stain -able materials title and have him lose it three weeks later. I think that that title stays on Daniel Bryan for a little bit of time, which brings us into story number two, and those are the matches that we have announced for elimination chamber the next pay per view that's in three weeks. Now, some people were wondering where school was on smackdown. And she wasn't on the show. But again, I think that we're telling the story of Becky Lynch right now and Oscar has got to full pay per views before wrestlemainia, you know, I think did well we'll get into wrestlemania when we get into wrestlemainia the elimination chamber matches that have been announced are, of course, the women's tag team championship elimination chamber match firmer correctly, Sasha banks and Bailey, you're in it. The riot squad is in it. To Meena and Niger are in it..

"So what do you do between what are the two big reviews its elimination chamber? And what else I think there's a fast lane or something in their fireball balls of fire separately? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Richly the through together. Maybe that won't be because it's not because it's dual branded now. But I think that there's a second. I think there's two babies wrestlemainia, but you go what do you do between, MS and Brian on the way to wrestlemainia? And that's when Shane is there to not only support his partner, but avenge his dad, and you've got it you've got. But for for February a good guy. Shane McMahon versus a bad guy Daniel, Bryan. And now, MS not only is he getting this match because of their history, but he's also going to avenge it's crazy St. it'd be crazy to turn it around. It'd be crazy to have a he'll be a baby face there. Right. I mean, I would never seen this coming in a million years. But Daniel, Bryan such good bad guy. Do you think there's any chance of hearing a parent Perner Perner, I know? I mean that pop happens during the Royal rumble. It's going to be the only time where people want the rumble the go-to reigns. It will be even bigger it will be bigger than so what was it two thousand came back with a shaved head looking bad ass. Yeah. Without a bulletproof vest just a fucking top. Yeah. Or just the chess showing just show that shadow Ambrose doing it. On. But it would be as big the other rumble. I would pop I never think our top hard for Rome. Will enroll rumble return to Madison Square Garden after two thousand like, you know, I don't know several years later, and that was the Royal rumble that number thirty..

"You know, I think that this is a different way of looking at it. And so it's unfamiliar. And so a lot of us are kind of scratching our heads at it. But realistically, how many people are out there complaining that people come up from annexed tea, and it doesn't go well from them. How many people are complaining about the authors of pain? How many people were complaining? The the rule of the ascension, you know, after the ascension all these people even Shinsegei nakimora who's been given every opportunity in the world, you know, main event or was in the WWE championship match. Wrestlemainia won a Royal rumble turned heel, you the whole deal. People a lot of people don't like the way he's been handled from coming from antics, even Oscar who maintained her undefeated streak and went to the women's championship match at wrestlemainia over the past year before she won the women's championship back. You know, not the greatest year. So I think the question comes up. Well, why don't they change? It's Bobby rude. A lot of people dissatisfied at the way, Bobby routers, as translated to the main roster. So now, they're changing it, you know. So now WWE is switching up the way they do things to maybe have a greater degree of success in the way. These people are adapted and adopted onto the main roster. I think it's exactly what what w w we should be doing is. Rethinking the way this stuff happens. If this stuff doesn't always work, and quite frankly, it doesn't always work. You know, I think that heavy machinery being a part of that Becky Lynn protein, shake you knows? I thought that the moment of bliss thing was a little weird. It was fun. There's a little weird, especially with the way the thing just ended, and they started the next match and everything it was like, okay. But you know, I thought that the Becky Lynch thing was great. I liked the idea that Lacey is just around, you know, Nikki cross has been given amazing exposure with her match, and then just with her acting like a lunatic around Ramos stereo. So I actually think that this has the. Potential to be very very good. I think that we've been waiting for something different for a long time. And this is the different thing. This the the the. NFC call being slowly transitioned onto the main roster as opposed to boom here. They are. Here's their music. Here's their act. Here's their match. Plus when you're bringing five ax onto the main roster around the same time. Do they all just come in have a match have an entrance win the match because they can't lose right? And then go forward like you can't do that with five acts all at the same time. So instead, let's just kinda sprinkle them in and see where everything lands. I like it. I think it has the potential to be really really good. Let's go to story number three story. Number three was another surprise. Another thing that made raw really great on Monday rose, really great on Monday out so much happening. You know, we Lashley winning the intercontinental title didn't even make my top five this week. But huge story, you know, that they're moving in a different direction even with Lashley that they're adding credibility to this guy. And I think it's not a moment too soon. You know, I think that. WWE is paying attention. Let's be honest. Let's look at what happened at TLC. What happened when Seth and dean stepped in the ring with each other. It was boring chance it was Becky chance. People didn't like the match people weren't there for dean and Seth they weren't fans of that match. That was clear. People were there for the main event, which was the triple threat women's TLC match and seven dean didn't do it on that night. I still think Seth and dean are two of the best performers all around in WWE right now. And certainly on the list of some of the best ever, you know. But you know, I, but they didn't do it. This rivalry wasn't working WWE made some missteps in the way, this story was told it just wasn't quite clicking. So we're ending. This thing we are ending this thing, we're taking the intercontinental title out of the equation altogether. We're putting it on Lashley and we're moving forward with it. And I think that that's a good idea..

nerdy things we have in common
"Hello time. and welcome to the covert podcast. Today we'll be talking about focusing on the things we have in common then wrestling podcast. I know you will love. Lastly, we'll take a look at a comic book that takes a dark twist on the biblical flood. So let's get started. From two thousand ten to twenty thirteen. I went to San Diego Comecon for those who no, I is the biggest con in America and maybe even in the world, I'm not exactly sure. However, it has an incredible amount of people that attend over one hundred and twenty five thousand people come to the con- and the all have the same passion for all things nerdy for one person. It might be the passion for superman for another. It might be an obsession with the twilight movies. Many of these people would sit for days in line to tend to panel for their favorite TV show or movie. The camaraderie was thick, and that's the case with most cons. We all have a commonality about what we nerd out about. Do I agree with all of them on social issues like abortion, no. Do I agree with them on political issues like Republican versus democrat? No, I agree with them on getting together and earning out about the lake. Marvel story arc, yeah, for some of them I do. So instead of name calling and insulting each other about the things we disagree on, why not focus on what we do agree on, find common ground and invest time in that, and you might be shocked at the other things you will find you do agree on. This allows both parties to listen to each other before the walls come up because now we're comfortable with each other on the things we have in common, and we like to nerd out about in today's era of polarization we seem to spend more time focusing on things we disagree on might just be one little thing instead of the things we have in common so much so that we won't even spend holidays like thanksgiving together because of those things we disagree about over at not your pastors podcast. They were talking about Christians being divisive about their political views so much so that members witness OSI it with with each other. Now you would think out of all the people Christians could unite regardless of political views. I'm sure I interact with many people who don't have the same worldview as I do not just at cons. I'm sure you do too. It doesn't matter because as long as we try to stay focused on the one or two things we have in common, whether it's fishing or baseball, or coin collecting football or podcasting, whatever it is focused on those things and spend time together doing those things that you have in common and the things you disagree on. Won't matter as much. Talk about the things you have in common. Tell stories about the things you have in common expound on what you have in common and nerd it up. Make your commonalities bigger than your differences. All the sudden you're differences. Don't seem so big compared to the size of the things that you have in common the impact you can have on other people. When you have a common focus can be huge. Use the nerdy things you like to unite instead of divide each other. For example. Maybe as a kid, you collected masters of the universe figures. Talk about that. Talk about the figures you had. Maybe the other person likes the same figures you had when you were a kid, maybe they had some of the same excess review did like castle gray scholar, snake mountain, or maybe they did different things to modify their figures that you might think are cool or maybe you did the modifications, whatever it is, talk about those things and tell about when I got this figure for Christmas, I was so excited or I got this figure at a clearance sale at stores and picked it up for only two dollars. Talk about those stories together. You'd be surprised at how well you can mash in connect with the person when you have that commonality so that when the differences come up, maybe it won't be so divisive because you'll be focusing on some of the things that you have in common with that person. Now, on a similar note, I read recently about people using dungeons and dragons to help kids with autism and social anxiety. People living with autism spectrum disorder, experienced challenges with communication. So social action, and sometimes they display restrictive and re repetitive behavior. Organizations like game to grow us tabletop role playing games to help teens, adolescence and emerging adults become more confident, creative and socially capable. The inherent benefits of tabletop role playing games are numerous and become even more beneficial. If intentionally facilitated by professional the games, encourage communication and team building in the fun safe environment. Now, Dr. Raphael Baca moslo I probably mispronounced the name. So I'm sorry in advance. The clinical director of take this uses DVD to help teens who are struggling to daft solid social skills. They learned those tough to teach aspects of socializing, like procreate communication, forming friendships, empathy, and other social nuances. As you can see unity in something like tabletop gaming, like dean D. Is being used to help those people in difficult places. In this situation, it helps others relax open up about what they're struggling with in the process. They inadvertently learn new skills on clued links to the game to grow organization and the take this group in the show notes. So please go to covert ner dot net to find out exactly what they're doing. You can see some of the pictures read about some of the gaming setups that they have and maybe participate in what they're doing in your local community. I found that and thought it was something that I needed to share because it's something taking something nerdy something we have in common and using it to help others. Now it's time to do some podcast recommending if you like wrestling in the eighties and nineties, like I did, you'll love the podcast something to wrestle with Bruce Prichard. It's hosted by Bruce pressured, also known as brother love in the WWF back in the late eighties, early nineties and superfan Conrad Thompson. As I mentioned, I was a big WWF fan from about eighty seven to ninety three. It's great podcasts because you can revisit those old storylines if that's the timeframe you liked. Now, I should preface Bruce Richard was involved from, I believe, eighty seven. So after wrestlemainia three and was off and on with WWF until I think two thousand three or two thousand four. So he covers a pretty big, broad span, broad span of time. Not just the time I'm talking about. So if you watched wrestling from the late eighties to early two, thousands, he has some firsthand accounts of what was going on. On behind the scenes and he's a fantastic storyteller. His impersonations of Vince McMahon are priceless. That's almost worth listening to the podcast alone to hear him to his impersonation of inst- McMahon, the popularity of this podcast skyrocketed so much. They have hundreds of thousands of downloads per episode. I highly recommend it for any race wrestling fan. They highlight wrestlers. They highlight some of the paper views the highlight some frames, so it's great. Just go check it out. They have a big archive that you can go back to. Sometimes they'll just fire up an old survivor series from say, nineteen Ninety-seven just watch it together and you can hear their commentary as they're watching the event. Lots of Riecke simply search in your podcast app for something to wrestle and you will find it and I'll put a link in the show. No, so you can find it easier as well. I wanted to mention a comic book that just read literally a few days ago called dark arc. It's by aftershocks comics. It is an excellent. Book and I'll just read the solicit here and you can hear exactly what it's about. The wickedness of mankind has moved the creator to destroy the world by way of the flood. Noah has been tasked with building an art to save his family in the animals of the world, but this is not. Noah story for darker powers have commanded the source or SRI to build his own arc and save the unnatural creatures of the world such as bam, Pires dragons, Nagara and the Mana core. But what will happen on a vessel crawling with monsters where insidious intrigue and horrific violence are the rule of law from the writer Colin Bunn who did X men blue deadpool envenom in artist, one DOE American monster world reader comes a sinister tale of biblical proportions that had to be told at aftershocks comics. Like I said, I've read issues one through five, five is what they're up to as of this recording. And I think the concept is fantastic. The storytelling is compelling, the artist. Great. Callin does a good job of keeping the story moving along at a good pace. However, he threw. Goes out a few bread crumbs of possible ways. He might take the story in later issues just enough to keep you reading and wondering what is going to happen happen next at issue five, the rain stops. Now I assume this would be a limited series run at first thinking about it. When I mean is you're probably not going to see this, go to issue three hundred, four hundred like some other titles do I could be wrong. They could go ahead and take the story after the land or excuse me after the water subsides and they can get back out on land and maybe show the interaction with the unnatural creatures with the humans on this new world that they came upon after the flood. I don't know, but I think it's definitely worth the time for you to pick this one up and check it out on clued. Lincoln the show notes to where you can read more about it and look at some of the art.
