"Our producer. The top story we're following for you. Today marks one year since the start of the full scale war in Ukraine. To mark the day, church bells rang out in Kyiv as morning broke president volodymyr zelensky struck a tone of grim defiance and used the anniversary to congratulate Ukrainians on their resilience in the face of Europe's biggest and deadliest war since World War II. Memorials, vigils, and other remembrances are happening today in Ukraine for their tens of thousands of dead, a toll growing all the time as fighting rages in eastern Ukraine in particular. The White House marked one year of the war by announcing additional military and economic aid for Ukraine and a fresh round of sanctions on Russia. The latest package will include several new air defense systems, ammunition for rocket systems, mine clearing equipment and communications, support equipment, the U.S. is also increasing tariffs on Russian imports and target companies, including some in China that have helped Russia evade previous sanctions. Separately, the administration is targeting exports to Russia blocking dozens of companies from purchasing items made with certain U.S. technology. And President Biden is also expected to raise tariffs on certain Russian imports to the U.S.. On the battlefield, Ukraine's military has high hopes for the next 12 months. This is a very important year for Ukraine. We hope that this year will become the year of our victory. Yuri sack, an adviser to Ukraine's minister of defense as they hope this February 24th, and this will be the only ever anniversary of this unprovoked aggression against our country. Leaders from around the world, including those in the U.S., think that may be a bit too optimistic. We are confident that this is possible. We hope our allies share this confidence with us. And we hope that our allies understand victory is possible this year. Whether that happens this year

really hurts brought advances gasoline shelter food orders and you can pin it on the recovery from the pandemic It's fueled demand and choke supply lines So now the debate is whether the data will have any meaningful impact on the fed's thinking Powell is already said the fed should consider withdrawing stimulus at a faster pace the question is on the rate of acceleration and it's not just the tapering of those asset purchases there's also the issue of rate hikes and not just when they begin but how many will see Here's Bloomberg great strategist Ira Jersey So if the Federal Reserve starts "Framing of my question Maybe I should have started by asking you if you feel like this is still your Republican Party Well that's a very difficult question to answer I mean there's certainly elements of the points of view that are being held by Republicans today with which I am quite comfortable There are others that perhaps I feel that we need to reach more to compromise We need to look at some of the issues that are confronting the American public and deal with them whether it's nutrition issues housing issues retirement security And certainly healthcare and healthcare costs Obviously the drug provisions are ones that a great many people care very deeply about I certainly do in terms of the cost of drugs and the pressure that puts on American families So I think there are certainly issues about which I feel strongly and agree And others where I would disagree You know Joe Biden you knew him I'm sure for many years in the Senate and worked directly with him to see an honest broker in these negotiations Oh my I think I could describe fairly senator dolls do senator Biden as being a decent honorable man with a strongly held views I think there is no question that he feels strongly about these issues And there's also somebody who knows the Senate and is someone who seeks to reach compromise That was his view when he was in the Senate as a member And I think that certainly what appears to be his position today Well this does seem to be a feel among Republicans that he's over his head that he doesn't realize what's actually being discussed at kitchen tables if I can use that tired cliche He thinks that he's coming from the working man's perspective Sheila Well I think there's no question that he comes from a working man's perspective I think that's the background I think it's something he understands I don't think he's forgotten his roots any more than Bob Dole did coming out of Russell Kansas I think they both felt strongly for families and the concerns of families And I believe firmly that senator Biden now President Biden holds true to those views of essentially worrying about the American family I want to ask you about your old boss in our last couple of minutes here Sheila because I'm sure you've had a lot of thoughts and a lot of memories going through your head this week We've got a couple of very important days coming up in Washington And it begins tomorrow the formal tribute to Bob Dole will lie in state in the capital rotunda The president will take part in a private ceremony The Washington national cathedral within hosts the funeral of Bob Dole on Friday I can only assume that you'll be part of these commemorations And I wonder what your thoughts were Sheila when you saw President Biden get up early in the morning with the First Lady Yesterday went down to the World War II memorial to lay that reef I would add that the third element of the celebration will in fact be at the World War II memorial as President Biden recognized yesterday the importance of that to senator Dole the last stop centered adult will make on his way home to Kansas will be the World War II memorial The next two days are going to be very difficult but I think celebratory It was as he would wish it He loved the Senate love to visit institution and I think the opportunity to lie in the rotunda is remarkably important to him and to his family I think it is a place of reverence for senator doll for all those years and I think again it will be a celebratory event and a recognition of how important it was to him And again his last stop will be at the World.
