Curry, Henry, Kupp, Judge among most bet-on athletes of 2022
"Steph Curry was among the most bet on athletes in 2022, the most bet on sports team was the peacocks of St. Peters. DraftKings sports book customers, one more money betting on Saint Peter's from New Jersey than any other sports team in 2022. The peacocks were the Cinderella story in college basketball's March Madness. The numbers show a lot of betters lost money on Aaron Boone's New York Yankees, no World Series title this year. It always stings. Big money losses came from betting on the Green Bay Packers and Alabama. Golden State Steph Curry was the most bet on player of 2022 for DraftKings. We got four championships. You know, like, God is great. A World Cup soccer match. The U.S. won nothing victory over Iran was the third most profitable game for customers at bet MGM. I'm Ed Donahue

Charlie Welcomes Doug Mastriano Back to the Show
"Welcome back to the program. It's great to be back with you. And thanks for having me on. I like the Phillies hat. It's very good. I think we have some Astros fans in the audience. And I don't know how did that ever? Did they ever have to give back those World Series titles? Did they ever have to? Maybe we could start a trend. Yeah, I don't know. Did they ever have to give that back? Oh, Andrew said no, these Andrews, my resident baseball scholar. So Doug, talk about your race, and then I'm going to let it rip about this latest advertisement, which I think is the private part being aired out loud about a coup in the Republican Party to come after. I don't blame Oz for it because he didn't have fingerprints on it, but it was a lot of operatives kind of in his arena, not good. First tell us about your race and then we'll dive into that. At race is going fantastic. We are in the southeast outside of Philly yesterday for three events that the first event we went to in the middle of a work day. It was standing room only in bucks county. That's like a battleground county. And we're going to flip it red this go around here. We've campaigned heavy and Democrat areas over the past couple of weeks and in a near Pittsburgh in the near Philly in Erie, Pennsylvania. And we always get these massive crowds. I mean, we were talking about 600 people in eerie. We had standing room only in an event in a Democrat working class neighborhood outside of Pittsburgh. My opponent went a couple of days later. We had four or 500 people. I couldn't account it. Like I said, standing room. My opponent showed up a couple of days later. And I think he pulled in a whopping 15 or 12 people. I mean, so. That's a lot more than I would have expected for him. They have to crop in, Charlie, so you can't see the empty room. I mean, with us, we just pan the audience. You know, much like what Trump does at his events so you can see that it's real what we have going on here. And I think it's kind of the segue. This grassroots movement for some reason, the establishment is a terrified of it. I don't quite understand what's to be afraid of the people that we say we represent.

"world series" Discussed on Big Time Baseball
"We are in September, we are going into October, we are finally at the end of the road, and it looks like for the most part, and I do want to mention that one more time for the most part, we have a pretty damn good idea who's making the playoffs. Obviously we're gonna have the Yankees. We're gonna have Tampa Bay. Toronto is still somewhat of a question to me a little bit. They have not been playing amazing. And it seems as though the Baltimore oils, even though they've fallen off a little bit this last week, they're not entirely going away yet. And I'm still very big on the Seattle Mariners. I just love love, love this team. And we'll even get it a little bit into futures market a little bit on where these odds are all out and see if there's some value on some of these teams. But of the American League side, of those teams I mentioned, is there any of those teams that worry you? And of course, we will mention the AL central that should just be blown up and not be allowed in the players. You know, I actually said that on Chicago radio today that I bet they run down the invite. I just hang up and then I don't hear anything else because I'm in New York or Florida, so I don't even hear what the result is, but I mean, seriously, the White Sox, the twins, the guardians, I don't see how they deserve to be in the playoffs at the beginning. They've got easier, easier schedules and mediocre records. I mean, it twins about a ton of injuries. They have an excuse, you know. White Sox don't. No, maybe an injuries, but they're underperformance is unbelievable to me. So none of these teams deserve it. I'll be stunned if any of them get pissed. The first round. Same. You know, Toronto, I think still has potential. I still, you know, in a playoff scenario, I still like them better than Seattle. Although, you know, obviously Castillo is a big plus now for Seattle. He took a big risk and, you know, the guys in incredible picture and I'm still up on mine the estimates are the big favorite in the American League. Same, I agree. They're the best team, you know, not to do it my own horn because my prediction suck. I had Astros and Dodgers with the Dodgers winning it at this point. Those are the favorites. They probably were the favorites when I picked it. So I probably don't even deserve to toot my own horn, but I mean the Astros are clearly the best team. Incredible. Yankees. You know, I mean, I'm looking at the odds. Since you brought it up, I'll dive in a little bit. I'm looking at the odds here, the Yankees are plus 500. I'm assuming that means 5 to one. That is ASTRO's plus four ten. I don't know why they're that close. You know, the Yankees right now are putting a team that's like two thirds of minor league team right now on the field and they're losing three out of every 5 games and more than that when they're not playing the twins. So if you could, I don't know if you can do a bet against, but I'm a bet against on the Yankees on a plus 500, so. You actually can, but you just gotta the problem is with a 500, right? You're gonna have to look forward a little bit. That's all. You just got to dive in a little bit. And you will find that the field of anyone but this team. And yeah, I'm very much against the Yankees going very deep into the playoffs, completely. In fact, looking at these odds as we're currently sitting, well, we'll throw in the national league as well. The shortest odds on the American League side, Houston Astros plus four ten, you got the Yankees at plus 500. But this is why I think this is nonsense right out the gate. The fact that the Yankees are even in forget the top four. They shouldn't even be in the top 6. In fact, I don't know why they used an Astros are in the top two. I honestly think the top three teams for futures odd should be Dodgers mets and braves. And right now, I'm blown away the fact that you can get better than 7 to one on the Atlanta Braves. Wow, that's pretty good. Yeah. I mean, they're the defending champs. They have now, you know, three rookies who didn't obviously participate last year, I shouldn't say, obviously, but we're in it last year. You know, stridor has been unbelievable. Grissom's been really good. Harris is fantastic. They have Acuna, obviously. They're equal or better to what they were last year. You're right. Plus 7 50. That looks like a good. The one reason, you know, I'm not a betting expert like you are the one reason I would say that the mets and the braves and the Dodgers may have higher eyes than we think it's because the competition is tougher at the top of the national league, right? I mean, I think to me, the Astros, you know, I wouldn't say it's a magic carpet ride, but it's fairly easy to me to say it. The Astros are going to get in there and you can compare to the Dodgers. Certainly compared to the mets or the braids. But once they're in there, I think the national league team probably should be favored, assuming it's one of those teams between the Astros versus the mets, the braves, Dodgers, weird thing is the American League wins the All-Star Game every year. And right now you've got one good team in the American League and you've got three really good teams in the national league. It's a little weird, but I think that's why the braves are set plus 7 50 because people are looking at them as the third most likely in the national league. Only third most likely because of the gram, right? The ground gives the meds that one two punch and that's probably why the mets are ahead of the braves. But braves, it's plus 7 50. I'm not a betting man, but that's my bed four. Brains plus 7 54 Yankees plus one 50 would be my pet against. There's another one here that I do think is not getting a lot of attention. And there are a team that somehow, I don't know, maybe you can explain this to me. It might be proximity or their location. I don't understand how the Saint Louis Cardinals every single year somehow flies under the radar because the Cardinals for the last since the all star break in the trade deadline especially Norden Montgomery, Quintana, now they did get back their ace in flaherty, granted he's been hurt a lot, and we haven't seen it yet, really. And he had his first outing the other day back in the big leagues. But you can get the Saint Louis Cardinals who are making the playoffs and running away with their division by it's going to be double digits to be real clear. You can get them at 22 to one and let's be honest. I mean, if it's the best team that wins the World Series every year, the Dodgers would have ten straight World Series and they don't. They have one in a very highly contested 2020 World Series season. The cardinals are 20 two to one when they get into October. You know they're a monkey wrench. They just throw all the oil into the machine. I'm with you all the way there. I mean, I've seen them win what was an 86. They went with what 83 80 wins, I think. So I mean, 22 to one, I mean, it could be a special year. You got two walls, Wainwright, Molina, at least two out of the three of them are retiring, right? We don't know on Wainwright yet, and he certainly could come back next year if he likes. I'm with you. 22 to one. I'm betting on the Cardinals there. Again, they have a little tougher road because you've got the Dodgers, the Astros and the mets.

"Hello. All right, we are back from Las Vegas, so we've got a lot to talk about. We'll start with my playing in the World Series of poker. Then we'll talk about the trip in general. And we'll wrap it up with a discussion about your move to Minnesota, which is less than a week away here. Yes. We do have some voicemails, of course. I think we'll hold off on those until the next episode. Just 'cause I think we've got a lot to go through here today. Yeah. I think we had an interesting trip. Yes, I'd say overall a successful trip, so we had a very good time. Yeah, we had a great time. Yeah. I'll just start off by saying that I did not cash in the World Series of poker events. So I won't leave any suspense there. But let's talk about that. So we got there late on a Thursday night. We probably got there around midnight, something like that, right? It's close to midnight. No problem checking in. So thanks to Vinnie Chen's, he had suggested that I register for the tournament at off hours. The registration area is open 24/7, but if you're trying to register close to a big event coming up, especially one of the lower limit big no limit hold them tournaments, you know, you might be in quite a line. So yeah, there were long lines all throughout the week in there. The line never seemed to go down. So I got in line about one 30 a.m.. There still was a line. Yeah. Not all the windows were open. So that was a lot of it was only a few minutes. And I stood in line for about 5 minutes before one of the employees said anybody with diamond or 7 star status. I was like, oh yeah, oh, well you can come over this line. There were no signs. Yeah. I might have said like VIP, but I didn't know what that meant, right?.

But <Speech_Telephony_Male> really, I <Speech_Music_Male> mean, I mean, the player <Speech_Male> I'm scared about is <Speech_Male> player 6 <Speech_Male> here, and <Speech_Male> so it doesn't matter. There's <Speech_Male> another player in that. <Speech_Male> So I <Speech_Male> might have still folded <Speech_Male> there. So <Speech_Male> <Speech_Telephony_Male> and <Speech_Male> really, yeah, at that point, <Speech_Male> I mean, <Speech_Male> if you didn't <Speech_Male> have that extra one 60 <Speech_Telephony_Male> in there, am <Speech_Male> I that's kind <Speech_Male> of the reason we were going to call, <Speech_Male> right? Yeah. <Speech_Male> Double <Speech_Male> the money in the pot. <Speech_Male> But there's one <Speech_Male> 75 against <Speech_Male> the player that we feel <Speech_Male> has been pretty good and <Silence> raised us <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> when we <Speech_Male> raised under the gun. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> That's <Speech_Male> a little tougher, I think. <Speech_Male> I think it was <Speech_Male> easier to make a call here <Speech_Male> because of the <SpeakerChange> button. <Speech_Male> So <Speech_Male> yeah, because of <Speech_Male> pot odds, you <Speech_Male> know, at least this is more money <Speech_Male> in the middle of the try to win <Speech_Male> rather than just doing it for <Speech_Male> 50 50. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Tough spot. <Speech_Male> I don't really fault you for <Speech_Male> folding, though. In the beginning, <Speech_Male> I was like, I'm going to call <Speech_Male> easily because it's only <Speech_Male> going to bring me down to like <Silence> 7 50 if I'm <Speech_Male> wrong. You <Speech_Male> know, or <SpeakerChange> 700, <Speech_Male> you know, and <Speech_Male> I'm still up about it, <Speech_Male> but that's what we talk <Speech_Male> about a lot. Once you build up, <Speech_Male> I mean, you don't want to get <Speech_Male> loose and splash around, <Speech_Music_Male> but <Speech_Male> when you have <Speech_Male> those those bullets <Speech_Male> at that point, <Speech_Male> I mean, that's when you start <Speech_Male> making those shots that <Speech_Male> you can't afford to make <Speech_Male> other places. Exactly. <Speech_Music_Male> That's when <Speech_Music_Male> you multiply <Speech_Male> the winning. <Speech_Male> So I mean, <Speech_Male> it's a bad day if you <Speech_Male> make that call <Speech_Male> two or three times and lose <Speech_Male> each time now you're <Speech_Male> back down to 300. That <Speech_Male> sucks. But <Speech_Male> chances are you're <Silence> going to win one of those. <Speech_Male> And then <Speech_Male> you'll be able <SpeakerChange> to fade two <Speech_Male> more, right? <Silence> Yeah. <Silence> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> All right, well, <Speech_Male> thanks for sending that <Speech_Male> in. It's <Speech_Male> always nice to have a situation. <Speech_Male> I don't have to get <Speech_Male> a cramp right <Speech_Male> now, the hand of the week <Speech_Male> and trying to understand what Scott's <Speech_Male> saying. <Speech_Male> So Scott enjoy <Speech_Male> your Turkey and <Speech_Male> your Star Wars and I'll <Speech_Male> enjoy my Turkey <Speech_Male> and my plane's <SpeakerChange> trains and <Speech_Male>

"The planet. I'm Chris consensus. And I'm Scott walk Happy Thanksgiving. Gobble gobble. Gobble gobble, how's it going? Turkey day. You know, I always start off this day by rewatching clips of the plane strains and automobiles and that's my favorite one is the rental car. Scene where? The Ferris Bueller secretary. Never saw it. Spoiler alert, please. You've never seen plain streets in that movie? I've seen excerpts of it, you know, like you have you're talking about what you do. Like what you do every Thanksgiving is what I do. You know, what I've seen over my lifetime, I've never actually watched the movie. Comprehend this information. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I saw your little Facebook post about it today, and I thought, yep. I can't really don't know what he's talking about. Trump is me, you're gonna do this, 'cause you come to all this stuff, wait, wait, like making a murderer? Yeah, yeah. That's probably been framed for step in other murders by the time the rest of us have watched. You need to make some time today. I promise you you're going to love it. All right. I'll figure out, you know, I just finished watching the staircase, which is very similar to the making a murderer and another brutal corrupt system that screwed people. But yeah, all right, I'll try to give it a shot. But only three promise to watch. You promise to watch Star Wars. Yeah, okay. The baby owner one I haven't seen that. Yeah, the baby Yoda, The Mandalorian. Watch that one. 'cause I can always subscribe to 18 different streaming services now. Not all get rid of cable things and create idea of folks. Yeah, exactly. 20 times more of her TV now and I have no idea what channel anything's on. Exactly. And you never end up watching TV end up just like looking on your phone because you don't you're too lazy to turn on and try to scroll through the menu to find something alive. I actually watched less TV now because it's so frustrated, Googling, where can I watch a man? Exactly. Exactly. Forget it. I'm just gonna like, you know, read the newspaper. Exactly. All right, let's do poker now. All right, this year's World Series of poker has come to an end and here are our final updates, spinning glazer one event 78 to ten K rats championship for a sports career bracelet. Previously in the series, he had a second third and 9th place finishes. They'll help you made a 6th final table the series, and I can't believe you didn't notice I did. You did it everywhere and I just said screw it. He's doing it to piss me off or he's really stupid. So either way, you know, I don't know, but you're really itchy L button on my laptop is what it is. Constantly putting extra L's where they don't belong. It's like Easter egg hunt for you. Anyway, I feel help me with one out. Actually. One L and Phil, too and help me. You made a 6 final table of the series. Adrian Mateo is one of an 82, the 250 K high roller for his fourth career bracelet in the highest buy in event of the series. Leo Omar gets when event 83 to $1500 closer to become the only woman to win an open event this series. Jeremy Osman is one of N 84 to 50 K PO high roller defeating Phil Helmut one L and NFL. Heads up, helping me set the record for the most final tables in a series with 7 Daniel mcgrady who finished third. Josh aria was 7th, the grand I would go on to finish third in the very next event while aria had a tenth place finish two events later. And Josh Ari is this year's player of the year at 11 cache is two bracelets in two other final tables with 4194.59 points helping me to finish second with 3720.01 points and ten cash is one bracelet. 6 other final tables, while doing your grano, who hasn't won a bracelet since 2013, boy, I would have lost that, but rallied to finish third with 3531.03 points with 18 cashes and three final tables. The World Series of poker started a new series of NFT options, which we don't care about at all. Nope. But if you do, it features famous clips from the series over the years. And finally, well known when Las Vegas tax expert Russ Fox had published his estimates of the tax burden for this year's main event final table. New world champion Cory, elder, a German who lives in Austria, very smartly for tax purposes and two British final table participants won't owe a single penny in taxes based on U.S. tax treaties with those two nations and the fact that neither of those countries not companies. Countries, tax gambling, winnings, the other players who have in the United States Turkey and Argentina will see a good chunk of their winnings going to various governments with high park lives in New Jersey's likely to pay the highest percentage of his winnings. Okay, where to start? The only NFT I'd be interested in is he called me with Jack high. I think that's the one I would get a little bit more for that. Yeah, that's the one I might buy. And maybe the Chris moneymaker, not knowing it's his turn to act and the whole world's looking at him and they all thought that he had a serious decision to make and he's getting ready to fold. Those two, I might consider, you know, put some Cheddar down on, but other than that, yeah, I have no interest in NFTs right now. I tell you Rea. What a remarkable year. I mean, he comes out of nowhere again. Obviously, he's been a player the whole time and all that, but I mean, just to have this massive year. And every time helmets tried to one up, I'm gonna get it back or whatever our AB right there with him finishing right near him or whatever. It was a pretty remarkable year for him. Congratulations, really phenomenal. Yeah, he was definitely a fly in his soup this whole series, right? Thought he was going to catch up and then you follow that over there. Hey, hey, he's had another final table. Well, guess what? Josh Ari just missed the final labels. I don't do much. So yeah, somebody called him an unlikely player of the year. I don't know if that seems like a stretch to me. Obviously, I think some of these other names, people probably would have thought a bit more. But I don't necessarily think it's an unlikely, but one of these great pros gets a good streak and the initial we had three of them. I mean, three of the most fantastic players will oversee finished one two and three and they all had great series. Solidifying our player of the year, you know, professional player going to do well in this World Series stuff. I mean, they really did just rise to the occasion. The other stuff on top of LEGO markets, that's fantastic. You know, a woman winning, it's always always great when that can happen because then it just opens up the field to more women saying, hey, I think I can do this too and getting them out there to play and that's a great thing. Some of these other names I didn't really recognize, but they had multiple bracelets. Again, this week, everybody who want to bracelet seem to have wondered fourth bracelet. It's crazy. And I haven't heard telling you squawking about the player of the year. Here at the end, I'm sure he probably was somewhere. But it's interesting because he talked about when he had his first meltdown over here and it should reward final tables over anything else. So we've got to look at now we kind of know some of the stats, right? So aria made four final tables, he made 7, but aria had two bracelets he only had one, so I don't know. I mean, 11 cashes and ten companies had ten. So, you know, I think between those two, I think we're really splitting hairs now. Would have been interesting if Negro would have cast a couple more times 18 cashes had more than almost as much of those two guys combined. Had he had a couple more cashes and actually been the player of the year and I'm not looking for a appointment to the college football playoff selection committee here by saying it, but I would have a hard time stop eating a player of the year that didn't win a bracelet. Yeah. Yeah, that's true. I mean, still 18 cash is pretty phenomenal. But that's remarkable. Remarkable. I think you meant new granular..

"Yeah, I'm hanging out with prince Albert. So if you want to call me out that would be great. I love those call. When I worked at the bowling alley, we used to run the front desk. We'd get calls all the time. Hey, do you guys have 16 pound balls? And I'd say, yeah. How do you walk? Crack up on me. You know. We gotta love this Cray calls, man. We're gonna call maple lanes when we get that to do this. Yeah, you got a call. There are other ones, too, but I can't repeat them on air. Or whatever you want to call this. I feel bad. I forgot to open my fear before. Ah, there you go. See mine's already open. Mine's but mine's beer of the root. Beer the root. Yeah. I'm sure yours is beer of the paps. Yeah, mine's a little stronger than yours. 9 45. You gotta get the day started, so that's why you gotta do it somehow, so. All right, let's get going with the World Series here. All right, only two horror World Series bracelets will be handed out this year and here this week's updates. Dan Kate to one event 60 to 50 K players championship and we'll have his name engraved on the chick. Chip Reese memorial trophy, final table included Paul bolt, Leo Ezra and Josh Ari. Go Ferraro when event 61 to $600 deep stack championship after coming in second and then 22, he Phil helmet and Ryan Lang are the only players to have a first and second this series, but Ferraro is the youngest of the three. Kevin gerhardt won event 62, though 1500 plo 8 for his fourth career bracelet in the second, the series Georgia son boba dasha, a lot of N 65. Come on. So George's soda apocalypse. So, oh, yeah, that makes sense. That was absolutely how that dude. 65. The one game any main event for his third career bracelet, Josh RA, one event, 66, the ten K PO 8 championship or sports career bracelet and second this series doing came just two days after he just missed another final table. He would go on to finish fourth at a four place finish to his World Series poker resume this year a couple of days later in online event number 7, the $3200 high roller. The Rios convention center was locked down for about an hour during day one of the main event after Las Vegas police chase the suspect to the Rio parking lot, police fear that it was a quote unquote suspicious item in the suspect's car..

"Absolutely love that pick right there. Look just looking at Corey Seager. He's got the profile, the face, everything about him screams New York Yankees. And I really love that pick. I also love the idea of Korea in Detroit. That's a team that made massive leaps forward, finishing third in the AL central. Yeah, it was a down year for the AL central, but we can't sit here and pretend that a team that won a winning percentage of 202 90 moving up to almost 501 season first year of AJ hinge is nothing to scoff at. So I really like that idea. I think that's going to be a team that goes out and spends. I think there's a lot of great landing spots for a lot of these players. And let's look over it and another grouping of players because let's not mince words here. These guys really help themselves this year. And I'm talking about Nick cassiano's and arguably the FrontRunner for the AL Cy Young Robbie ray. Where do you think these two are going to end up? Yeah, Robbie ray again, I want to be shocked if he goes back to Toronto and so he had a great success there, certainly with a pitching coach, walker and I could see that, but I'm going to go Yankees again. That's too Yankees. When they spend they really spend, let's not forget 2009 when they brought in Sabathia to share a brunette and then 2013 when they brought in a bunch of guys, including ellsberry, they probably want to forget that one, but I can't remember the year, but anyway, but in ellsbury and several others that one year and you know, I think they may get multiple guys. Castellanos, I'm gonna go with the brewers. Obviously, Garcia is also a free agent once he opts out gets the owners will opt out 34 million 2 years to go. I saw someone mention the rockies, you know? I mean, they want a power hitter. You probably like hitting there, you know, you didn't love Detroit, but he's certainly taking his Cincinnati and Wrigley Field, but I'm going to stick with Milwaukee for Castellanos. I like it. Let's go for one last little grouping of players. So I'm going to call it our Hall of Fame category. Because all these players, I will admit a little bit up there in advanced age. But all still pulling their weight and what they do, some of which are still the best in the game at what they do. And the names that I'm going to throw out there are someone like a Justin Verlander, a Max Scherzer. Clayton Kershaw, Albert Pujols Freddie Freeman and Nelson Cruz. These are all mainstays of the major league All-Star Game for the past ten years. Some of them might be kind of getting ready to take their final bow, but someone like Freddie Freeman I think we can all assume is just gonna end up being a brave for life. But the name that really sticks out to me is Scherzer and Kershaw, Kershaw being a lifelong Dodger, but a lot of people have been throwing mock ups of a Texas ranger logo on his hat lately, not to mention Scherzer can pretty much go wherever the hell he wants. What do you think these guys are gonna end up choosing to do? Well, sure we have a hint because when the trade deadline came, he was pretty clear that he wanted to go to California and it did seem like he favored Southern California leads to me. I could be wrong. And obviously he did very well with the Dodgers, ran out of gas, a little bit at the end, but no arm injury. So I think the Dodgers, they love the guys on short term, the big stars, obviously, bower did not work out. Maybe they'll recoup some money. They should probably will recoup some money when he suspended presumably. And I think that money probably goes to Scherzer. So I'm going to say Dodgers for Scherzer, although I think the angels will be in their pitching, no pun intended, and Kershaw, you know, it's communicating to see whether he gets the qualifying offer after a year in which he was injured at the end of the year, I suspect they probably give it to him, but not sure it depends, you have to look at his injury, a paperwork on that. I don't know. I'm assuming he's going to go back to LA. I don't want to so many things there, though, so I could see Texas as the fallback that is his hometown Dallas and that would be interesting to see him leave, but normally an all time great like that likes to finish where he started, but I'm not guaranteeing that one. Verlander, I think we'll end up in Southern California as well. I'm going to go angels. They obviously need the pitching, you know, if they had some pitching, they might have won a little more playoff games than Mike Trout's tenure, but they haven't had that pitching and I'm gonna say that they go out and spend on the pitching now and I'll go with Verlander to the angels, pools, maybe this is a nostalgic. I've got them going back to the Cardinals. I think he did enough in the postseason and for the Dodgers that probably can get a job, particularly if we have the universal DH and like the see him back with the Cardinals, again, with the DH possibility there. And in St. Louis and Cruz, this isn't quite as nostalgic, but he loved Minnesota. I don't know many people who like Minnesota more. I don't know, maybe but grant, I don't know, maybe Mary Tyler Moore, I'm not sure. But he loved it there and I'm gonna guess a reunion for Nelson Cruz, he's still got another year or two or more in him and the last one is you've already mentioned where he's probably going to go and that's Freddie Freeman. I want to get one right, so I'm going to say lanta as well. I mean, can we really see Freddie Freeman leaving the braves? I mean, that would be shocking. I think at this point, they're willing to give him the Goldschmidt contract and maybe a little bit more, but at this stage with an MVP in his pocket and we'll see what he does here in the World Series, but certainly the leader of this team that's gotten to the World Series. He's going to beat that 5 year one in $30 million Goldschmidt contract. Even if he takes a hometown discount in Atlanta, which is what I think will happen, what you think will happen and what everyone thinks will happen. I can't imagine a world where it doesn't. I'll be blown away if we ever see Freddy Freeman wearing a different uniform. I really will. And yeah, maybe you're right about Nelson Cruz, he did love his time in Minnesota. And I am resisting the urge so much to singing to the Mary Tyler Moore theme song right now. And I will continue to resist that urge. But I do have this wonderful comical image in my head of Nelson Cruz going back to Minnesota taking off his beanie and throwing it up in the air like every Tyler Moore. He loves it. Yeah, well, I mean, how can you not? I mean, he had an incredible couple of years there. He helped that team. Absolutely break through this last season, of course, Minnesota, massive disappointment, but for the most part, just an incredible run over there in Minnesota these last couple of years, of course, not able to get past certain teams in October. But this is a team that can absolutely go right back and win this season provided everybody gets healthy and they make a couple of good moves. And John, I love everything you said right there on haman's inside corner. And John, where can people find you if they want to get some more John Heyman? Well, MLB network. That's where I work. And of course, always on all of the Odyssey stations across the country. Every one of them and we Milwaukee, San Diego, Baltimore, Chicago, and many others. Those are the ones that have regular spots on. So it's great to be with Odyssey and they'll be networking. I appreciate your giving me that plug there, Cody. Oh come on. You're a very mature 34. Oh, thank you so much. My wife entirely disagrees with you. But I will tell you, yeah, make sure you follow John on all social medias, check out everything that's going on, stay up to date with the hot stove and of course everything with Major League Baseball and this upcoming World Series. Check them out on MLB network. You guys can find me on.

"I love it. I absolutely. And you mentioned Kevin long. I've hit with Kevin long before too, and I will tell you hitting with Kevin long is a borderline religious experience he's an incredible, incredible hidden coach, knows how to communicate. And there's one thing that Kevin long has never gotten, and that's an opportunity to be a manager in the big league level. Is there a reason? Because his name has been thrown around for a couple of spots, but he's never seen to have gotten that job. Is there something that's holding off Kevin long or is it just wrong place wrong time? Yeah, I mean, the answer to that is there's only 30 spots and we've certainly gone the way of younger. And if you're good for the older guys, they usually take guys who already legendary managers like the dusty and Tony larussa, guys like that, but generally teams are looking younger and guys willing to be collaborative, shall we say or do what they say as they can also put that. So any such a great hitting coach that, you know, always have a place in the game, but I think it's difficult for a guy who's been a hitting coach than to break in and become a mandrake. Can't think of too many examples of that. And, you know, once guys get pigeonholed, that's kind of what they are. Fair not only see that. Yeah. I can definitely see that, but I got to say Kevin long, one of the true hitting guys in baseball that can truly get just about anybody to hit. Looking throughout the league, we already talked about the cubs ex cub players. Here's the real market in my eyes because this is where the market's incredible. And that is the middle infield shortstop market because listen to these names. Trevor story. Marcus Simeon Corey Seeger. Correa, those names are game changers. Each one of those players going to any team immensely makes that team better. And in my eyes, the true star of the group. And that's all that's a group of all stars. To me, it's Carlos Correa. I've only played, I played against each one of these guys and I gotta say the only guy I ever played on the field with other than Mike Trout where I said that guy is playing a different sport than me is Carlos Correa. Just off the charts, but each one of these guys massive impact players, we see what Corey Seeger can do with the Los Angeles Dodgers, especially in October. Simeon really made a case for MVP this year. Definitely going to fall short, but what a hell of a year. He's going to make a massive impact somewhere. Where do you see these four short stops, middle infielders landing? Yeah, that's interesting. You said that about Correa. I think it's kind of split and who will get the biggest contract between Korea and cigar. I did a poll and Correa did win natural slightly over Seeger, but it was fairly close. You know, both have been great in the postseason a career points to a little bit more with the my time. I don't blame them. Yeah, that's great stuff. And he liked the fact that Rodriguez, another good free agent came back at him kind of people could say mocking, buddy, I would say that he, you know, he was flattering him by pointing to his wrist after he did, well, I didn't mind that either, but Correa certainly helping his case and perhaps he will beat singer, I've kind of thought seger would probably get the most is because he's a great hitter, it's the best pitching, although he did not have a great LCS. I'm going to start here with the story who did not have as usual year a couple of throwing questions, but then a terrific player and a great two way player speed, power. I think he's going to go home to the rangers. He's from Arlington, Texas. So they said they're going to spend and I think that's where one of the things they're going to spend on is a short step. So I'm going to say story for the rangers. Simeon, you know what? A lot of people know this, but the twins play big for him before the chase guy and try to get him on two year deal. I'm gonna go a little bit on a long shot here and say the twins may do it. They need a shortstop. Obviously, Simmons also free agent. Still it's going to be tough for them to outbid the Jade, so I mean, if you really, you really predicting it, you probably say Jay's have the best chance, but I kind of like the twins there. Correa, I've said the tigers, the AJ Hinch link is there, but, you know, this is a guy obviously he likes the spotlight. Maybe Detroit's not bright enough for him. And maybe he'll stay in Houston. I'm not ruling that out now even if they offered him only a 125 million. They're going to have to more than double that to keep him, but obviously his popularity has risen quite a bit and Seeger. You know, he's the one lefty in the bunch here. We covered by his earlier. He's another shortstop and I go back to the cubs, but Seeger the last one left. I'm gonna say 'cause he's the lefty and the bunch the Yankees need to balance it. And getting your catcher, you're not gonna balance it that way. This is the way to balance it at George stop and that would be secret with the Yankee they've reset. You know, they had a payroll under the $210 million threshold so they certainly can afford to do it. The one caveat there is that they have they're too best prospects or both shortstops, a couple of years away, peraza and volpe, but seekers a guy who could switch over from short to third into two or three years..

"And, you know, it would be terrible for baseball if he's doesn't have a job next year. It is mind-blowing that he is currently unsigned. The great arguably one of the greatest managers of all time and arguably one of the greatest managers right now in yet another World Series unsigned for next year. John, I agree with you wholeheartedly 6 games for the Astros, although I do fully agree with myself that the Atlanta Braves do have the advantage on the starting pitching side, especially losing Lance mccullers junior over there in Houston. But like you said, that offense is just so, so good. So I think I'm gonna agree with you 6 games for Houston. However, it's not what I want what I want is 7 games for Atlanta. I'm not gonna get that. I'm pretty sure I'm getting the 6 games for Houston. And I'm excited for it. It's gonna be a good series. It's not quite the not quite the Dodgers Astros two that I think everyone wanted, including Fox. But I think it's gonna be a great series with a lot of great ball players out there. I'm really excited to see it. And plus, I get a chance to root against the Astros. Who does not love rooting against the Astros John? I understand. I understand you're a very smart guy for such a young man. I learned today, you're 35. You know, in my age, we just assume everybody's about 50. I don't even think about it, but 35. Wow. 34, actually. I have well. I have ties older than you. So good job for my new for that. And thank you. I think your prediction is right on. And I don't blame you for it for the braves. They're fun team. And, you know, I think this could go either way. Yeah, and again, it is October. It can go either way. Let's be real clear everyone thought that Dodgers were going to win a 125 games this year and sweep through the playoffs. Obviously, injuries happen, things change as things go forward and what a hell of a playoffs. It has been. In fact, John, there was one point I think I texted you during the playoffs. There was a game that I was watching that I was just so overjoyed that I texted you saying, John, this October has been off the charts. And you just immediately text me back, said, yeah, it's insane. Yeah, you're right. And you're right to mention injuries, but it's no excuse because I mean, who's that bigger injuries than the braves? You know, with a no one. And sirocco. And then during the season, they lost several others. I almost think they're pitching arms were a little fresher because fried missed a little time and Anderson missed some time. I don't know. Maybe that helped them. I'm not sure, but I do know that the all the acquisitions they made, they were huge, and again, great job by the front office. And amazing that they're here because you know, well, I thought they'd win that first round. I certainly did not expect them in the World Series. Yeah, well, John, let's move on from the World Series because right after the World Series ends. It's the same time of year. It is hot stove time about the start and John, this is really where you flex your muscles. Big time for the next few months because it is time for Heyman's inside corner. Let's talk about some free agent landing spots because this year, man is the market been flooded with some serious top tier talent. Let's start right out the game with the team that really took a lot of headlines this season for the wrong reasons I might say. The Chicago Cubs, they obviously did their massive fire sale. It was actually one. I would say one of the first real fire sales I've actually seen. I was part of the San Diego Padres for 7 years and it was during a time when the team was in the cellar and the league and we always heard about the fire sale that the Padres were going to do every trade deadline and it never came. Not one time, in fact. Except this year, the cubs truly did do a fire sale. They let go of everybody schwarber Rizzo Bryan Baez. I thought it was the right move to do for the organization going forward personally, but you know, as a lot of cubs fans will tell you it hurt to see them all go. And I understand that. But looking at these guys, those names I just said, Baez, obviously going to get a huge deal. Brian, obviously going to get a huge deal. Rizzo. He's got a shot to make some money and schwarber with what he's done this year has really put himself in one hell of a position as a free agent, where do you think is going to be logical landing spots for these former cubs? Very good. I appreciate the introduction there, Cody and nobody's ever talked about my muscles before, but thank you for saying that I'm flexing my muscles. I didn't know, even though I had any. It was obliques, John, they stand out, man. You're funny guy. You know, first of all, I would say don't try this at home. I'm going to try to predict the team for each of these big free aids that we're going to talk about. We're going to talk about these ex cubs first and going to give it a shot. We'll see how this goes, but again, no guarantees. Please don't bet. Don't go to MGM or valleys or whatever and place any bets on these because again they're just guesses. They may be educated, but they're all just guesses we don't know how free agency is going to go is particularly this year when you've got the potential of a work stoppage looming. But let me start with Baez. You did a very good job with the mets other than the thumbs downs with thumbs down on that, but that was very brief and he took the brunt of it and I give him credit for taking the brunt of it because there were many teammates involved and he got it all. But he played well with the mets. Restored his viability as a free agent. And, you know, I think the cubs are gonna get him back. That'd be my guess. They were close. When the pandemic came, I think they like both sides like each other. They need help. They need more pitching up than hitting help. But that would be my guess on Baez would be the cubs. I wouldn't rule out the mets either. Bryant. I'm gonna say Brian takes by as his place and goes to the mets. That was the more logical pickup for them than bias at the time and they still could use help at third base. And he's very versatile and can do many, many, many things. Obviously, the Giants like him and perhaps a return, but I'm going to go Matt's there. Rizzo, I'm going to go with a team that people predicted in the first place would get them and he went to the arrival of the Yankees. I'm going to say, I'm going to guess the Red Sox for Rizzo. We'll see. I don't know it depends on what they think of dalbeck. And to some degree, maybe whether JD Martinez upset with 19.375 million ago I suspect he probably won't but we may have the universal DH and whether a lot of variables that can throw things up up in the air here. And then you mentioned schwarzer, obviously ex cobby. He did come to the Red Sox via the gnats. Can't forget that, but he is the next cub so let's put him in this category. And I'm going to concentrate on the fact he was with the Nats more than the cubs and say that Kevin long helped him improve his swing and he really took off as a member of the Nats, and he continued that with a red sucks. But I'm going to say Kevin long now hitting coach with the Phillies. I'm going to say a schwarzer winds up with the Phillies. And again, we're looking at a potential of a universal DH. So it could be room for Hoskins.

"Look, I mean, he was let go in Washington with 90 plus wins. Same in Cincinnati, small market team, 90 plus wins. They let him go. And San Francisco, he ended up switching to the cubs after 2002 World Series and, you know, they weren't really gung Ho about bringing them back. Either it's very, very weird. I mean, Houston, I can't understand why they haven't extended to this point, they better do it. I mean, the only reason that people actually, some people actually like the Astros is dusty. He's done a great job. You know, it's nice that, you know, I don't mind saying it's two more traditional managers are in the World Series, obviously core is a fantastic manager. I love Roberts as well. But these teams are a little more traditional and how they've managed things. You know, they haven't done as much of the starters in relief, the relievers starting as the other teams did. And, you know, maybe, you know, the reliever starting seems to have caught on. Campus started that and that works enough that teams are going to keep doing that, especially now that there's so much attrition and there's so few teams that have a fourth starter, but the star starters and relief. I hope we can put an end to this at some point. That was an under failure. This October for in several cases, I understand Scherzer pitched that key inning that helped the Dodgers move on, but then he was spent that that arm Reese it didn't work on either end. He gave up a couple of runs when he came in in relief and then he didn't have it as a starter after that. You know, you really got to take care of these pitchers, especially this year after last year was truncated season with 60 games. People didn't log the innings. And I think it's really come back to Juan a lot of these teams because by the end, very few of these teams had more than three starters and you know, if their daughters had moved on, and I said this on MLB network I thought that was better for Houston if they were facing the Dodgers because they have such a tradition and you've got shows are battling the dead arm. Bueller wasn't good by the end. I didn't say any pinpoint any reason, but he wasn't good. Who had an 82 win 82 innings was as high before this, you had over 200 innings already this year. So, you know, they were in trouble. I don't think they were going to make it through a World Series, and it's probably better off for everybody that a land is still there. With pictures that look reasonably some semblance of themselves. So I think we should have a great World Series. I think it's a close matchup, but like most people, I think Houston's probably the favorite. Yeah, I agree with you, although I am pulling for Atlanta quite a bit. I can't stress that enough. Is that clear? Yeah. I want to make that happen. Have I made it abundantly clear that I want it low to win the World Series? Okay, good. Just making sure, because I love me some dusty baker, but I love me some jock Peterson and max freed a little more. Just because my personal relationships with those two guys, you mentioned old school managers right now. And you know, today an announcement was made, new manager in the major leagues. Saint Louis Cardinals naming their 51st manager Ali marmont. You talk about kind of the old school aspects of the two managers in the World Series right now. And here is the Cardinals going with a 35 year old young man who is even talking about in his first press conference about collaborative efforts with the front office in R and D department. So it seems as though the cardinals are going to be going several steps further away from old school and more into the metrics and analytics kind of departments, which everyone really is already. But, you know, it's one of those things that's kind of getting away from The Old Guard. Is this something you're excited about or you something more of a sit and wait type thing, John? We'll see how it goes. I mean, I understand most teams are going in that direction. It's pretty clear that was the direction they're going with. You know, they're not team that reveals much. So we don't know everything that was behind the schilt surprise firing, but the fact that they wanted to go more toward analytics and he really was, I think, pushing back on that a bit, was part of it the other part was I think about the coaching staff. They won't admit that. But I probably now looking at it from a distance still, I think they probably like more and more better, probably better than he did and probably better than him. And, you know, morell is going to, you know, being arm of the front office. That's pretty clear, not that there's anything wrong with it. I mean, obviously, Dave Roberts has said that it's all collaborative in the front office as a big input and that's a very successful team that was a world champion last year and a 106 wins this year. So can't say it doesn't work. I can't say it's dumb. It may be the way to go. And that certainly is the way that the cardinals are going now. They don't have to reveal that. We know that marmont 35 years old, very well liked fellow, but youngest manager in the majors and, you know, they obviously have a good team so this pressure on him right away. Marmont, by the way, my age, in fact, only about 6 months older than me. Pretty impressive that young age being a major league manager. It seemed very clear that he was the tagged player or I'm sorry, the tag person for this job all along. And it seemed as though they were ready to get rid of shilt not so much because they were done with shield, but they just knew they had marble we're ready to go. I think that's kind of what helped their decision and hasten their decision. One last question for you, John regarding the World Series. I know you're leaning towards the Astros, how many games? Yeah, I'm gonna go with the Astros in 6, you know, I had them making the World Series and then losing to the Dodgers. So, you know, if I had to making the World Series and no reason to jump off now, although the fact they didn't have mccullers is certainly a negative. And I don't blame you for saying the starting pitching is better with Atlanta. I would say that's a push, but I could see that for Atlanta. It's certainly got the experience factor there, but I'm going to go 6 games that Houston lineup just doesn't quit. And, you know, everybody loves dusty and I really do have a soft spot for him and particularly since he's unsigned..

"Was out of the year. Mccullers is not going to be able to go. And yet they still match up, okay, you know, I think it's pretty close to a push there. And got to give them credit for being able to develop pitching. Not many teams are very good at developing pitching, but you know, after Cleveland and Tampa used to maybe the next best at developing starting pitching. Yeah. And looking at this Houston team. And here's the thing you mentioned about them having fairly comparable starting rotation. I'm gonna give the edge on my side a little bit more to the braves. But there is one massive equalizer for the Houston Astros, and that's that offense. That offense is as good as any team. I've ever seen in my lifetime. That's how good this offense is. One after the other murderers row, Dodgers have a very similar thing. The braves even have a similar setup right now and you mentioned anthopoulos how he should be how we should get a lot of credit. I think you should be executive of the year without question. What he was able to do after losing Acuna junior restocking that outfield so lair putting out getting jock getting their hands on Adam Duvall, I think they made incredibly great moves that were inspired and they made the team even better. And like you mentioned, one of the better teams in the second half in the Atlanta Braves, but that offense in Houston is something that legitimately scares me, watching them absolutely put the wood all over the Boston Red Sox towards the end there. This is a team that if they start going, they will not stop. And that's something that does concern me because I'm kind of rooting for the braves a little bit. There's something about this brave team that I'm just really, really enjoying jock with the pearls and you know, just everything about this has been a blast to watch. Not to mention getting more Jeff friend cor on television is never a bad thing. Yep. You know, I understand that sentiment definitely on the awards, we generally hand out the words based on the regular season, in that case, I think foreign zaidi will probably get it. But if you do the award right now as we talk about it to get those four outfielders, that's really tough to overlook. And really they were all underperforming or just having OK seasons where they were. And, you know, he took advantage of that. They never didn't give up any top ten prospects, alexand topples didn't got four guys who had pedigree, experience and really good postseason players. I mean, Rosario, it was well known that he liked the spotlight and did well for the twins and those circumstances. And Jack Peterson, as you mentioned, John October, same thing with him, but to get four out of the Duval who can play center it was a big RBI guy this year even for the Marlins. Pretty darn good to get him back. So great job by anthopoulos that braves lineup awfully good. I mean, at this point, I'd have to give the lineup edge to Houston over anybody. You know, you've got the batting champion betting. 7th, you've got Mike, you got Tucker Kyle Tucker, betting 60 was third and weighted runs created plus in the second half to Soto and Harper. It's pretty good. That's 7 and 6 hitter and 5 is the my time guy. Carlos Correa. So, I mean, there are 5 6 7 is probably better than most teams, two, three and four. You know, it's an all time great lineup. They can afford to just go with the defense with Maldonado there at the bottom of that lineup. You get a couple of hits, I think they eventually or at least one in the LCS, but these in there just for his defense, but they can afford that with that lineup that they do have. I mean, you since got the edge of the lineup over everybody, but boy Rosario so hard, Freeman. We know what he can do. And the fact that snicker batted those two guides there, two biggest threats right now, one, two, that worked out nicely. So I got to give snicker credit for that as well. And Atlanta is fun. There's no question about it, but as far as the lineup edge, our Dover look Houston. It's impossible to overlook Houston that lineup is frightening. And you mentioned snicker. And he's done one hell of a job over Atlanta since his ten year started. But over there in Houston, here's the thing. I think it's safe to say the majority of the United States possibly the world. With the exception of Houston itself is probably rooting against the Houston Astros. I think there's still a lot of people who are not quite over 2017, 18, 19 and before all of that. But I will say, man, dusty baker has never won a World Series as a manager, his certifier certifiable Hall of Famer arguably one of the greatest managers of all time. Looking through his resume, the nationals, talking to the playoffs reds, took him to the playoffs cubs, nearly took him to the World Series giants, took them to the World Series. And now, taking the Astros to the World Series again, I mean, dusty baker as much as I don't like the Astros and I'm willing to put that out there. I've been honest about that in the past. I don't like the Astros. But I love dusty baker so much to the point where if they did win the World Series, I'll let it go and focus entirely on dusty getting his ring because dusty should have two handfuls of rings. Yeah, you know, I think that's why Jim crane, the owner brought in dusty. He knew that everybody loved him and at that time that was the perfect hire. Everybody hated the Astros and, you know, he certainly lessons that a bit, deadens it a bit because everybody loves dusty. Just a likeable guy, you know, it's weird that he's unsigned, that really not a 100% sure what that's about..

"Season of Major League Baseball all the way through the LCS and we are here for our final week of this year's 2021 major league season we are in October. It is World Series time we know who's finally in the series and it's a bit of a surprise and you got me right here on big time baseball and Odyssey sports. I'm Cody decker former professional baseball player term professional smart ass on the radio. And of course, with me, my man, the one and only you see him on MLB network you see him everywhere if you watch baseball. The one and only John Heyman John how you doing, buddy? I'm good, Cody, great to be with you and I'm excited to talk World Series and you're right. Not only a bit of a surprise, a major surprise to me, you know, of course to Dodge was Yankees at the beginning at the beginning of the playoffs I had Dodgers, Astros, so I got half of that part of it right anyway, but boy, the braves have come out of nowhere. I'm amazed. I was worried in the month of September. I was telling everybody, I'm like, guys, you gotta take a look at the braves. They're not gonna stop winning. They're gonna keep going. In fact, an 85 team win is going to win the World Series. It's gonna happen. And I was half joking at the time. But part of me was just so fearful that I was right. And it turns out I was the braves taking out the Dodgers on Sunday evening. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, Saturday evening I should say. And Atlanta, what a series it was. I think everybody in the world expected to see Astros versus Dodgers when it got to the LCS time. Not many people, including myself, giving the braves a whole lot of shots, but they've been swinging a great. They've been pitching it great. I mean, max freed was arguably one of the best pitchers in the second half of the season. And he actually got it done with game one against the Dodgers game two, the Dodgers lit them up a little bit, but it was a fun series. Jock tober continues a little bit. You see some great stuff from Duvall robbing a home run that was huge. I mean, the braves just are playing some great baseball at the best possible time, and I tell people all the time, John, when it comes to October, it's not the best team that wins the World Series. It's the hottest team and quite frankly there's not many people hotter than the Atlanta Braves right now. Absolutely and, you know, that 88 wins, that's a bit deceiving because let's face it, they didn't get over 500 so I believe it was like August 6th. There's 7 somewhere in there. Really? They were pretty hot and you know, in at the end there, the three teams that were winning the most were the Giants, the Dodgers and the braves. And so, I mean, they were the third best team over the last couple months. And, you know, 88 wins in a week division doesn't look too good, you know, the a at least dominated the NL east. It was 57 and 23 against the NLE, but it's not really fair on the braves because let's face it. They didn't have that whole outfield for the first half and give out 10,000 credit for going out and getting that three, but four outfielders they lost the cool news. One of the best players in the league obviously of zuna that was his own doing. Of course, the guy was expected to be their age pitcher, sirocco also went down never did pitch this year and, you know, never made excuses. They kept right on going. Still have a great team in many respects and, you know, I think they're better than an team and they're going to give Houston quite a run for here, I think. I think you're right. I think they are going to give Houston quite a run for, but just breaking down these two teams. I mean, we know what Houston is. Houston is just a power packed lineup, the arms really stepped up. The thing that really crushed I had questions about with Houston was their bullpen and their arms are starting arms. You know, losing out on Verlander this year, you know, grandkids, a little bit up there and accelerated age. But yet other guys that really pulled their weight as far as Lance and Garcia. I mean, there were guys that really did a hell of a job this season. But if you're breaking down these two teams, facing each other in the World Series. Let's just start with pitching. Who do you give the advantage to? Because I'm looking at this brave starting rotation. And even without their quote unquote, ace, they have arguably one of the best three head rotations in the in the game right now in October. Yeah, that's pretty good because there are only three head rotations. I mean, look at the Dodgers. We thought they had 8 starters at one time now that they were down to three by the end as well. Really nobody had four really good starters. So they have three, really good ones. That's great for the braves. And it's certainly a very, very even matchup in the rotation, I think, one thing I like about Houston is if you talk about the hardest, I mean, Luis Garcia, I mean, he looked unhealthy in that last game against Boston. I don't know where he got that from the 7 hardest pitches he threw all year all over 97 miles an hour in that game has an incredible breaking ball. I mean, at this moment, he probably is the hottest pitcher. It had been freed. He was roughed up in the penultimate game there with the braves and the Dodgers. But freed and Morton obviously and Anderson is a very nice rotation very solid, but right now I don't think anybody's pitching better than Garcia and look from her Valdez and in some respects the best outing in the postseason so far. I mean, I know Logan Webb was good with the Giants, but framber when nobody was expecting it to go 8 innings. Pretty darn good there. You know, it's funny to look at Houston's team. Obviously, Cole is long gone, Verlander was out of the year. Mccullers is not going to be able to go. And yet they still match up, okay, you know, I think it's pretty close to a push there..

Daniel nagra ground new inter event number 20, the one K flip and go 9 times, but wait for it, David Williams entered 19 times before advancing Chris. And Tom hammers entered event number 22, the women's championship with a buying a $10,000 and a plan to donate any winnings to charity. Despite his good intentions, hammers received criticism for entering. I'm going to let you talk because I would just talk forever there, but well, let me say what I'm going to feel bad though real quick though. I'm going to feel really bad is we're going to spend a lot of time talking about people doing bad things or potentially bad things at the expense of talking about all these people that had great accomplishments. And that bothers me, but we're still going to do it. So. Yeah. Well, I mean, it's remarkable, Helmut is making all these deep runs, he's probably going to be player of the year if he takes one bracelet now. And they're all stolen mixed games, too, which he's always been his quote unquote. So I think he's, I think he's trying to prove a point now, 'cause I mean, he even hearing that for so long and then he finally broke that sort of cycle last time or whatever time before I'll ask, but a lot of interesting names on this list, I'm not sure what to make of the Kelly minken Adam Hendricks thing. No, did you watch William Shatner blast off in space yesterday? I watched a clip of it and I'm glad he's boldly going where no TV host or TV star has gone before. I was flipping channels trying to find silver spoons, which we'll talk about next week. About this week, but then I said, I saw the live chat in her life launch. I clicked on it. Which is like better than like 90% of all college campuses on the planet too, by the way. I just went back home last week, so I couldn't do a show and we drove through or Cho is and you know, I don't live there anymore, but now I mean it just keeps expanding. So it's been years since I've been there and it's like ridiculous, but he went to school at choke the same time I went to school at my high school and I never ran into him, no, all four years anyone went to school and never even saw him or heard like a rumor where he was or anything. But of course not he's Rick, Rick Schroder now, sorry. You already got the ride the train and played the video games. That would have been a lot of fun. But that's next to me, so don't get ahead of me. Way behind on a survivor stuff too, is that we keep pushing stuff off like the old days and we actually had to talk about it. "So the most recent polls I've seen now say that we're down to only 20% of Americans who are still firmly anti vax. You know, that number keeps going down as they can't go to concerts or they get fired from the jobs or whatever. Right. So if you were firmly anti vaccine and then all of a sudden they took away something like then all of a sudden you reassess your priorities. Right. So it's 20% now, right? So I kind of started there. I just took wipe 20% off of the 2019 number, I think. The foreigners one as we mentioned is really hard to predict because I just don't know all those things that you mentioned earlier. What are they going to come? Also there's a part of that other 20% too, I think, right? So I'm kind of went like 10% that so I'm kind of looking like a 30% reduction. So that would get us down to 5998. And I said 6000. That's hilarious. So yeah, so yeah, but it's priceless right so I'll win. I went over. But again, that's all based on. That's just cold hard vaccination Mac, right? That doesn't account for what you mentioned. And I think there is, and we have seen a very anecdotally. I'm not saying this is a trend, but very anecdotally I've seen on Twitter, people say, I got vaccinated just to play the World Series. So I mean, that was a trick or point for some. Like losing their job was a trigger point for other ones or not being able to go back to college or not being able to see kiss. Like I'm going to see for the first time next week. So, you know, that's what makes that difficult. So that 20% might not be. It was actually trying to do some math on that. I'm like, what I thought in the poker world..

I don't know, I'm serious. I mean, you know, I'm not boarding a plane to go out there this year. You certainly aren't, but it's good that it's back, right? Yeah, sure. It's been a good two years now, so and it was interesting. There's a couple articles that have come out about it. One was what's new this year and you know, really, it's pretty evident what's new. You know, it's in the fall instead of the summer COVID is hanging over like a dirt globe. And a bunch of new online events. That's really the summary. So I think the good thing is it's just that it is its back. So. "My team is. I don't think we'll be here right now. So she changed everything at the little league world series even though girls preceded her and followed her and i i've met her a couple times now. She's an adorable girl. She's a she's a college softball player now and she did the broadcast two years ago that i told you about where the kids did the broadcast and she's going to be back on that broadcast team year. They're going to do two games. They're going to do a little league game and they're all gonna do the major league literally classic on. Espn two so. She'd loved her experience in two thousand fourteen. She told me and she still loves everything about williamsport. Antennas another young girl this year. Who's turning heads ella bruening and she's a star catcher from wiley texas. What makes l. special. Well she pitch and she can catch. And i've seen her throw in. It's really impressive. What she could do. We had her a little clip of her on baseball tonight. Last night and look catching is not an easy job for anyone including big leaguers into see a twelve year old girl who catches and pitches is something. You can't take your eyes off of. And i remember two years ago. With mattie fracking. was there She was a really good player. She pitched she did a bunch of other things and was also really touched by the fact that in the little bios. Mattie fracking listed her favorite baseball player as jackie robinson which i thought was amazing and everyone else picks mike trout. Or you know havi by his or somebody like that. She picked jackie robinson because at age twelve. She understood the importance of what jackie robinson did for baseball and for this country ten. There's so many numbers out there that show participation in little league not necessarily youth baseball but literally are dropping. Do you feel like this tournament will ever be at risk. No this tournament will never be at risk because of the way its run and the importance that has now we need to get more kids playing baseball and honestly it's such a difficult game to play. I will unfortunately argue this with anyone that we we run kids out of the game so early because it's so difficult to play the ball. Hits you it really hurts. The game is really boring for a lot of kids who are used more action but if we can keep these kids through age twelve when they start to really have an understanding of what the game's about how to play it. I think we will always be able to keep enough. kids around. Here is no doubt this. We're not playing baseball with our kids these days. They're probably goes for all sports but baseball will never never leave woods for because it's way too important not just for the city and for the game but for the country. What about travel baseball. I mean we hear a family spending thousands of dollars a year. Send their kids all over the country. What is that doing too. Little league will travel. Baseball's really good in a way because it allows you to play a lot of games and you get better when you play more games. But i'm a little biased about this. I'm not a big travel baseball guy. I think kids age twelve should be playing year round sports. They should play baseball basketball soccer. Whatever it is as opposed to pack playing baseball twelve months a year. I was not the goal was to get to high school. Make your high school team and then try to win a state championship. But it doesn't work that way anymore. The travel teams have kind of taken over. And that worries me a little bit. And you're right emily. Some kids content thousand fifteen thousand dollars a year to play travel baseball. What can all of us learn by watching the little league world series or more importantly. What do you want people to see whether watching these games. well i want them to see the camaraderie of the kids. I want them to see how controlled the coaches are. And the kids are and how corneas it sounds. It's all about sportsmanship playing the game. The right way you will never see coach l. At a player you will never see coach. L. enough fire because that is just not necessary at the little league world series. I just want everyone to realize that every one of these kids has such a great story to tell about themselves. That's what people need to know. And some of them are hilarious. Some of them are fascinating and some of them are just just make your.
