Open up the floor, I know fans are always excited listeners always excited when we have you on. So I kind of wanted to give them a platform. To get involved in the conversation as well. And I'll start with this. So Jim asks, how do goalies adjust to increasingly sharper angle shots, shooters are taking these days? Now this isn't anything new we've seen this, I think, increasing prevalence over the past couple of years, one that I think of very recently that really sticks in my mind. Where he takes the puck kind of down the left wall, gets all the way to the goal line, but he's pretty far out. "I really can substantiate whether this is an absolute bearding situation, even though I never seem to believe Aaron Rodgers is ever really, truly into any of his girlfriends, whether it was Olivia, was Olivia Munn, what Olivia wasn't. I always forget, mine, Danica Patrick, or Shailene Woodley. I never really none of them look real to me. I mean, Olivia Munn kind of basically told people back when this whole thing went bad on them, that remember she said, one of her boyfriends, a very famous boyfriend, didn't want to go down on her or something. The power couple called off their engagement after less than two years together. And listen, you can say what you want, but to me, this has shailene name written all over it. She told him she wanted out. And at some point, Aaron wanted to stay, but then I think, at some point, he said, you know what? Fuck it. I can't take it anymore. "In the clear yet, yes, I spent a lovely blissful weekend in the wilderness in the catskills with absolutely no cell phone service and some grilled cheese and it was really lovely. Highly recommend. So on Saturday morning, comedian by the name of Awkwafina, are you familiar? I am indeed. I just watched chunky the other night. Yeah, nor alum. Posted a notes app apology on her Twitter, addressing the criticisms of her using a black sent or appropriating black culture and performances. These accusations of appropriation and of putting on a black saint come up every few years. After her performance in Crazy Rich Asians. Y'all chickens are bitches, dude. And I'm not a chicken. You're not a chicken. You gonna roll up to that way, and you gonna be like, fuck my bitch. Chickens are bitch. But apparently the reason it's coming up in 2022 is because she was nominated for NAACP Image Award for her voice-over work in Raya and the Last Dragon. And importantly, the NAACP doesn't exclusively nominee black actors. That's, I think a misconception. So this isn't new, but I think the dissonance. Let's say, of Awkwafina's history with the black community and in NAACP Image Award really struck some people clearly and then she decided to wait until February, black history month to take to the notes app. Whoever created the notes app didn't ask for this. But so she has four screenshots. She tweets them, she doesn't put them on Instagram, fascinating choice. And she basically tries to I guess contextualize recite the importance of black culture in America and how Asian Americans are still establishing their own unique American identity and how the Internet and hip hop have made African American vernacular English more mainstream and I am just tired describing this to you. And I haven't even gone to the actual notes app apology. The thing is she never once actually apologized for what she does. She just says, and I quote, and this is going to be a dramatic reading because the one thing Awkwafina does that more no type apology should do is take advantage of the fact that the notes app now has a lot of different features in terms of formatting, you can tell us, you can underline. All right, let's hear the bold. She says, as a non black POC, I stand by the fact that I will always listen and work tirelessly to understand the history and context of AVE. What is deemed appropriate or backwards toward the progress of any in every marginalized group? But I must emphasize to mock belittle or to be unkind in any way possible at the expense of others is. This is all bolded and underlie. Simply, period, not period, my period nature, period. It never has, and it never was. Sounds like kind of a long way to say I'm not racist. Yeah, also what's funny, I think the funniest thing about this entire apology is that she describes racism or appropriation as done by the dominant group towards the marginalized group, which is a really funny way of getting around the fact that she has been appropriating, and that she's like, I'm not white, so it's not as bad as a white person did it. But the thing is, it's not just Awkwafina who does this. There's a long history of Asian Americans appropriating AVE to build a brand for themselves. I'm thinking of Timothy delaghetto, Lilly Singh, aka Superwoman. A YouTuber by the name of nigahiga, which I'm sure you can figure out where exactly that name is supposed to be. And it partially comes out of this desire to build an American identity, which is understandable, but it ends up just appropriating and reducing black culture down to words that they don't really understand the context or use of. But going back to aquafina, this isn't the first time she's gone on an apology tour. Like last year she gave this, I'm gonna describe it as a non answer when asked about it at a press junket for Shang-Chi. You know, I am open to the conversation. I think it. Is, it really is something that I think is a little bit multifaceted and layered. And so yeah. Multifaceted, layered. You know what isn't in that statement? Any of the fucking accents she used to get famous with. Just sounds real Midwest there. Rachel, I'm really grateful for this context because I opened up TikTok when I got back to my apartment and got cell service for the first time. And your favorite thing happened, which is I got served immediately a video that was like three times removed from the inciting incident. It was like a response to a backlash part three of a series talking about aquafina and Awkwafina's black sand and her apology. And this was very helpful in filling in the gaps between that video and where this originated. You're welcome for my suffering. It's just eternally disappointing to hear these kind of empty platitudes. Especially from somebody who is always talking about how much respect they hold for black culture because if you did, maybe you would sit down and shut up or at least have a real apologies that includes the words I'm sorry. But at the very least, she's not going to be on Twitter until 2024. So I guess some good came out of this. Oh, she's left Twitter. Her account is still there, but yeah, she said on the advice for her therapist, she will not be on Twitter for years, and now her bio says tweets until 2024 posted by my social media team. Why did she choose the next presidential election? I don't know, but now I'm scared she's going to be running for office. At the advice of her therapist. You know who needs to be taking advice from my therapist? If you say me, I'm leaving this recording. I mean, we have talked about the fact that perhaps we should all be taking advice from our therapist. But no, we're not talking about you. We're talking about Shailene Woodley and Aaron Rodgers once again. Yes, yes, truly, truly. A group of people who absolutely perhaps should harness the power of the bold italicized underlying no death. "He did. He didn't panic. He didn't fall apart at all. I watched for it. That's what I do. I watch for it. He didn't. Not even a little bit. And he got hit a good elbow that by a guy who made a living phone elbow. So I'm not saying he did it on purpose. But you could accidentally on purpose kind of do that. If you're a guy who's that expertise at it, as woodley, I'm not saying he did. But what I am saying is it did land and did cause a cut and he did behave he'd be in Paul, he did behave the way that a fighter needs to behave when he got caught. Yeah, definitely. Definitely. Well, teddy, we covered a lot here. We gave everyone two and a half hours of action. There was a lot of fights to cover. We're coming up on Christmas. Want to wish everyone obviously a Merry Christmas happy or whatever you celebrating. Hope you guys all have an awesome holiday week. I don't see too much on the calendar and ways of fights in the way of fights in the next two weeks, but rob and I discuss maybe for the fans out there. The only thing I wanted to add to this last breakdown of this fight was it was a funny thing. I was sending tweets out. And they were looking like I said already. They Poland woodley won't look and, you know, wasn't looking exactly like Mayweather and Pacquiao or whatever. Not quite open or any of that stuff. But it was funny because I had just said that if one of these fighters would throw a counter punch and bolt tried a little bit, but they didn't lend. But I had just said, if one of these fighters either one of them would just control themselves enough to catch the other guy coming in, you know, instead of just leading with pontius at just thrown punches, but of one of them would just be common often contained enough to just draw a counterpunch, they would catch they'd have a good chance of catching the other guy coming in. In other words, exhibit a little bit of the sweet science. They would have for an advantage if they could do that. And right after I said that, if you go when I tweeted it, sure enough, Paul did show a little bit of the sweet science. As I said already, where he dipped low and he came high. And it did make the difference. So that's a reminder that it's not just about your physicality and another thing that I didn't mention that I should have mentioned. I got reminded of they're pretty smart to pull products. What an advantage he has size wise. He's bigger than the guys he's for. I mean, I'm not, again, I'm not taking anything away from because there's plenty of small guys that could be big guys. So that's not enough. He also goes in there and he shows hot and like I said he prepares himself to the best that he can. But he is bigger, you know, when you are the guy that's right in the paychecks and signing the checks, you can have you can have to say in certain areas. And he has to say, or the advantage in that area. I'm not saying he always will, but he has so far. But he still gets it done to the point that he gets it done and I give him credit for that. But it shows you, again, no matter how athletic you are, you're not, how big are you all strong? Whatever prepared that the advantage is being smart. I say that in UFC, I say that unboxing, that the guys fight is going to have to entering their boat off. But the one that becomes superior is the one who's smarter who's more in control, a little comma and a little better technically. And that one advantage of technique really, really saved the day for Paul at the end of the day. That's one technical movers a technical move. Step below, like he's gonna go low, boom, coming high, catching them. The sweet science, that little nuance that little nuance there, that was the difference in that fight at the end of the day. And that's why we're still talking about a man named pork. So anyway, he's created his own dreamscape. He's created his own fantasy island. Do you remember that movie, year too young? I'm sick and maybe he has posted that he's the rationale or the illness, but I haven't seen it yet. And Tyron Woodley getting another crack at the title, at least the title of, you know, top YouTube or whatever they're calling it, but he's Jake Paul's giving him a half a $1 million bonus if he can knock him out. Meaning Tyrone Jake Paul, so that'll be an interesting fight on December 18th. I'm actually looking forward to this. In other words, of woodley can land the right hand because it was good to go and knock out the one thing woodley woodley, of course, professional fight of former champion terrific human being from everything I could see at least and we'll find out. But not a boxer, but if he was to pull a knockout, it would be with the right hand. Not with the left hand because he punches good with the right hand, but finish up. Well, that's it, I guess he's been in camp and he's gonna get another shot at Jake Paul and quite honestly I'm here for it. I'm looking forward to it. I find these I find these fights. I wasn't a big fan initially, but I'm starting to get more into these novelty fights and I'm looking forward to seeing this one. What do you think? You know, a funny thing is the first thing I got to say is that I thought fury had a good chance to win only because I like Paul. I told you that. I respect that he respects the sport and he's done everything to you know he's taking advantage of an opportunity to make money. Hey, that's America, right? That's the American way. What the fig's wrong with that, okay? Yeah, it is out there. What's wrong with that? Is it destroying a boxing sport? No, boxing is still boxing. It's a separate two separate things here that we'll talk about. This is entertainment. This is different. But he is getting in there. He's risking himself he's fighting. He's picking his opponent well, Mayweather picked his upon as well. I know Mayweather's one of the great fighters. I know. But still, you did not care for being smart and making money and picking opponents. Did you know. So I don't know that you should not pull either. And again, he's respecting my sport, our sport. The first thing that comes to my mind when you tell me about the rematch, does does that mean that if woodley wins he gets to remove the tattoo of Paul? I don't know about that, but I want to know about that. These are the details I want to know. I'm assuming I've told about standard boxing, right? Yeah. So you entertainment's part of it this part. I want to know, does he? I want to know, did he ever get the tattoo? Do you ever get detached? He did. Let me shut my fax machine off. Now, look, Jesse's not a boxing analyst, but he said that when he was there that he was in there with sparring. They watched them spa, and he said, he was with me at the Paul woodley fight with Dustin. So he's a fight fan. And he said, look, the guys who Jake Paul was sparring with, I don't know how good they were, he said, but they were landing shots, and they were putting it on in pretty good. So Jake Paul's clearly in there with guys that are better than him. He said that the guys it was aggressive. He said I was actually so I give him a like I said, there's a reason why I say what I say. He's doing it right. And he's trying to do it the right way and he is doing the right way. So all seriousness now. If he's going to have a first of all, he got a little older. He's not getting younger woodley. He sweat 40 right? Context, I think. So while you're checking, I'll just go on. So he's older guy that's obviously was passed his prime in a UFC he had lost, you know, most of his last fight and but he's a former champion. He's a good right hand puncher. 39 years old. All right, 39. So he's not getting younger. I don't know how prepared he's going to be for this fight because he's taking all quick notice. I don't know. I don't know. Darren Till's Record Is One of Inconsistency
"Darren till versus kelvin. Gasol and that's a big fight of we did it today. It was an even bigger fight than it had major implications on it. I remember working for. Espn out there and dana came to the desk. This is prior to the fight. And i said to him flat out if darren till beats kelvin will be considered for the championship fight against sonya and dana said. Yes so simple as that but just to remind you of this timeframe. That would've may darren until undefeated at one eighty five even if he would have taken out a top contender in gats lem. Who just had the most razor thin fight of audits on his career there was a major revolving door. It would have opened things for till taking you back to that time from shows up to press conference and he almost fell asleep at he was so tired. So you're not gonna expect till the do very well in all fairness that's a super hard fight in a foreign land while you're exhausted at away class you have been at. Oh by the way now you get the pleasures of jetlag real thing. Till's dog going to perform well wrong. He did. But i could say the same thing about the night that till lost the welterweight championship fight to woodley. He was a favourite. The sport was getting ready to welcome in the till era. People thought he was going to run away with it and it wasn't a matter that t- would beat him if he would have beat him. I don't think i'm having this conversation. I probably would have forgotten. The fight happened. it was the way till performed. He did it till greatly underperformed. He got taken down. He's hard to take down. He got taken down. He got mauled when he was there. He got tired within the fight. It was just the performance. The lights were bright. There was a lot on. It was a massive weight cut in he underperformed point that make it. You don't know what makes this guy tick the night that till popped onto the radar. He gets thrown into a main event against cowboys. Sarony i remember. Shaab doing an entire piece on this prior to the fight and brennan was saying cowboy. Don't take this fight. There's nothing for you to gain. You're taking on an absolute unknown. All you have to do is lose esteem. even if you beat this guy you get nothing if you do anything short of steamroll him you go backwards till one the fight and he did it in the first round it did surprise everybody right you know cowboys gonna take the fight. You know that story cowboy didn't give a damn. I'm just setting the stage for you of till's career in the performances that till has had with what you thought would happen when you think everything's gonna be smooth. He's going to perform well. He doesn't when you think everything's against him he's going to go out there and laying egg he doesn't he doesn't he still inconsistent.

"Versus till bills. Who gets it gets the job done. I'm gonna go with derek brunson Get wrong when i bet there brunton but i do feel like. He's turned a corner a little bit. "This week spending back clip. I took the position of being jake. Paul's manager guiding his career. And if i were him. I would tell them. You're maniac. you're gonna fight taryn would again a you barely got out of there and be what do you have to prove. Give nothing to prove right. Let's keep this going as long as we can't. People would dig it but those guys are towards the end of their career. Why not make them wait. Why not make them get older and then go back and revisit. You don't have to do it now. His bottom line is up to his bank account and good for the man said coming into the fight that regardless of what happened and we talk about on previous regardless of what happened it was not going to influence my views on. Tom would lose legacy in in mixed martial arts and really that that is his legacy. I know the he has some wrestling pedigree. But he wasn't a world champion or really a a wrestler of significant note in that regard he. He's intimate fighter. That is his career. That is what he is accomplished by for the most in that's where he's a hall of famer and whatever happened it gets jake. Paul wasn't going to affect that at all and we'd argue whether it gave good accounting of himself or not he. He did not embarrass himself in the same way that been asking did and there is a real benefit to that though. Many people would argue that he did embarrassed himself after the fight begging for rematch which is how a lot of people took that post fight Display from him. But i don't think it affected his legacy at all i think he just he made money and look at the end of the day. We joke about it. We make snide comments but this is fighting. This isn't fistfights for money. And he got the most money. He's ever gone for single fistfight. He made it flat. Two mil plus. Whatever the back on. That's going to be. I think he had a couple of good lines in there. And jake was kind of having a good time and kind of play in a bit of the promoter You know kind of pumping up. Amanda surata which was great. You know calling her. The komen events which i thought was awesome by the way Giving her that kind of status and doing all the things he should be doing but he was kind of having fun out there tiring was all about business and you could tell like they would have fought right now. Tire would have been swinging like immediately. He was ready to go. So i kind of lean towards tired for this one because not only he not get you know not only did he not get taken by the social influence guy. The guy who's supposed to the guy that's supposed to get the better of him in these kind of altercations He came across really strong. He looked focused. And then like. I said man when you mess with his mom. Do you might as well just back out of there because that guy. I'll say tire will again. I might tire. I like the times got a chance to france. And god who comes down to his mom right there because i do throw down and rightly so so in that regard gotta give it to get into to would what about you ak takeaways from just the whole proceedings. What we saw. Who won this. I was so impressed with taryn woodley. Today he's been good at press conferences before but this was. I mean this is a totally different beast like this kind of press conference boxing. It's freakshow boxing. It's not another fighter. It's someone on a different almost coming in from a different plane of existence. A different plane of reality. This youtube return boxer. So i thought he had himself really well. He didn't let jake. Paul talk over him. That's a big one. That's that's that's a huge one. I think when you're dealing with a guy like this. His lines felt fresher. Paul has a tendency to repeat himself at press conference which is fine again. He comes from a meme culture where you want to feel like you have a good catchphrase or good line. You kind of want to drill it over and over again. So that your your fan. Base kind of absorbs it. So that's fine. That's how he how he works. But i think anyone who's kind of paying closer attention to this one saw. That will was really calm. He was tagged from a bunch of different angles. I'm just looking at some of the stuff that we tweet have. Mark count I like you said like oh. You're you're training partners. We went easy on you. None of them want to hurt you that that was a great way to come. Don't wanna lose the bag. They don't wanna lose the bag. And it's like i got even if you're like any of your objective and you're on the fence who's making more sense here. You hear that. Yeah they probably don't He made fun of the robot. Which again i don't approve of. But he said he said you come out with that dumb ass robot. Do whatever you want. you're going to get knocked out. And then he closed really good line. us dude wipes he said i should have brought him some dude wipes to clean himself up after i knocked the s. word out of him on sunday so really nice volley from from woodley. I think as we kind of said because paul's also playing the promoter he's kind of having to wear a bunch of different hats. He wasn't like super focused on trash-talking woodley. He might have contradicted himself. A little was saying like. I respect him one second the next. I don't respect them so again. You know if you're a fan of either guy it's probably not gonna change your opinion. You're like you're not gonna like oh what would lease was better. We'll do more. One word because that's really my biggest takeaway from this like i have so many questions. Is that a gigantic man. Inside of there like a seven footer. Or is this like to four foot. Tall people sorta stadium on each other's shoulders. Like the the kids in the trenchcoat trying to get a drink at the bar. Like i have way too many questions. No one asked a single question about the robot. And i'm actually kinda mad about that like we need some answers. That's my tickle. Same question for you damon. He stole the robot right right from underneath you and right underneath too. I might go back to that. Well but how would you describe that. Press conference in one word The only word. I can use that. I think this describes it perfectly as well think that's about the best way i could describe it as while Boxing press conference or something special. I'm still getting used to them. Being a mixed martial arts guy for the last twenty some odd years so Boxing conferences all kind of get the same reaction for me. Wow my word is robotic because the giant robot stole the show. And i and i'll be honest with you. I think it's still a little piece of my heart as well. Gentlemen jake. Paul is a lot of things most of them not grade but he is smart. He's a showman in his silly. Is that press. Conference was once i started listening to the words but just focusing solely on the robot as they were going back and forth at each other man that would have been one of the more enjoyable press conferences. I've ever watched just focusing on the robot. The words didn't mean much. Larry get gets crazy. Calm down here i will. I do have to say. I think it was as bizarre as we sort of all expected right like this is very much a circus and we know that it's a circus going into that kind of lay lens you the ability to enjoy it. Maybe a little bit more than if this was something serious and we were having to act like we're serious journalist breaking down something here But it felt like it was relatively bizarre. But i don't know that either man really came away from that winning the press conference right. It felt like tire and really held his own. Pretty okay there jake. Paul came with too much. That was You know some hot fire lines or anything like that altogether the takeaway for me was like the bet right because that i really hope that that is in real like it seems like it's already out there in the eighth or now so i guess it is real but i really hope that if tyron woodley loses despite which i think he might and i'm scared that he might. He doesn't just actually do this because they have that on his. I love jake. Paul for the rest of his life that that is something none of us need. I think i think i think Honestly this sounds terrible. And i i. I don't mean to continue to take a shot at a guy who's already having a bad weekend. What's going to get people to watch by right like we saw when tyrants naming off robbie lawler dare until all of this jake paul does flippantly like oh. Paul knows how to play this game. Man he really does. I will say this tyron woodley can get a robot. This might be my favorite fight build ever but be that as a man.
