Today he's off his vacation is finally arrived. Much deserved vacation. It's been a long year for the guy s, so we'll see him talk to him again in 2021. Good morning, Jill. How are you? Good morning. I'm good. How you doing? Good. Today's my dad's birthday. So it's a big day over here. The kids woke up extra early. They fell asleep last night singing Happy birthday in their beds. They were so excited about it. They woke up this morning singing Happy birthday. S so it's been cool. They woke up early. They wanted that. Molly is gonna be a party planner. When she gets older. She all she ever wants to do is decorate and make presents and stuff. And But then my mom ran to the store this morning. Very early to get like a cake and a balloon. And she made the mistake of getting one balloon big. No, no. When you have two little kids, O s. Oh, no balloon would have been better because they've just been fighting over that one balloon ever since. And we're trying to say no, No, that's puppets balloon. That's not your balloon, but Oh, well, what can you do? So maybe we'll have to go get a second balloon today. I don't know, but it's been a good man. How are you? How did the villain mysteriously like, float away this morning? Or is it still inside the house? I think it might mysteriously float away later today, because, Yeah, the fighting is ridiculous. But how are you? How was your night? How you feeling? I'm going to my family and I went Tonto Land last night, Which is this drive through experience. It's over by the Topanga Mall. It is in Woodland Hills and my gosh, they did such a good job. It's so pretty there so many lights. There's different little scenes and characters and then Santa and Mrs Claus at the end like it was really, really great Master required. You stay in your car the whole time. Roll the windows down. They have music, Christmas music blaring and all of that, it's just really, really fun. This is a question that probably shouldn't ask out loud, especially on the radio. But because my kids they're still you know, in their car seats, and Molly's forward facing Riley is rear facing Are you the kids stay in the car seats. I wonder if you're going like two miles an hour. If it's okay to put him on a lap or something, but probably not right? I saw one car. This was not involved in the cars we have with my family. But I saw one car with a kid standing in the sun roof. And what wasn't it didn't seem to be a problem table put on top of the van surfing. Let's just say he wasn't a double. The carpet is like upper half of the body was sticking out of the car. He was hiding good. You'll see this younger. That's gotta be significantly more dangerous than a lap. Shoot. I made that up. That did not happen. I didn't see the matter, Jill. It wasn't your family. It's fun. Later on this hour, just in a little bit here, Jill has some tips. I guess. The Impact of Wildfires on Climate and Air Quality

"Are trying to get the upper hand When my saying any hand on a bunch of fires burning up and down California, it is a horrendous fight. The Bobcats Fire in the Angeles National Forest, The Eldorado fire in the San Bernardino National Forest, You know, the one that began with a gender reveal party, the creek fire in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, where there have been dramatic evacuations. Containment in those fires is small and the battle is heroic. But I don't have to tell you that large swaths of the state and the West Coast are burning. You can probably see it in the air. As in the air. You and I are breathing. Maybe you're wondering like me What's in that air and is it putting you in any danger? Rachel Becker is an environmental reporter for Cal matters. And she's here with some answers. Rachel. Hi around sunset Yesterday I took a drive up PCH. Ah, the son was hazed out. The sun actually had bands. I could look directly at it. And it looked like Jupiter. I remember thinking to myself. Oh, my God, that looks like a planet, not a star. I'm seeing picture after picture today of San Francisco, doused in this glowing orange color and other places, too. What is in that smoky air? It's it is unearthly. Ah, and what we're seeing is when a wildfire burns through vegetation. It turns out these fine airborne particle pollution, sewage. It turns out soot that can irritate the lungs and have been linked to hurt and lung problems. Premature death. There are also gases like carbon monoxide, cancer causing chemicals. That mix into this smoke cloud as well. It really creates this kind of toxic soup that can change depending on what is burning and how hot it's burning and as those chemicals kind of stew in the atmosphere, they keep reacting, so they break apart. They joined together and they make new ingredients that people can inhale and that can harm people's lungs. On then, on top of that, there are also burning cars and buildings. And while those make up a smaller fraction of the smoke that people far from the fires in hell, they could present a health risk to the people right up close fighting those fires. Yeah, A lot of the firefighters are dealing with with with terrible situations. I know that this is a very basic question. A primary question. If if I don't smell the smoke, does that mean that the air is okay? Not necessarily. There still could be fine. Ah, airborne particles what you're smelling and isn't necessarily reflecting what the health risk could be. So you know when we talk about smoking here, quality if it comes down to, as you say, particulate matter, On Dure talking about suit. You're talking about the fine particles that you can inhale and and those particles get lodged in your lungs right? And they can and those particles Khun do like a lot of damage to your body, talk a little bit about that in the dangers of that and what we conducive to help ourselves. Yet researchers have found increases in emergency room visits for heart problems for breathing problems. There were reports of increased risk from stroke during wildfire smoke events. Eso it's It's definitely a health risk, and if people can, they should stay away from it. Stay inside were in their air conditioners shut their windows on DH, where masks and 95 respirators if they go outside, But as we know those masks are in short supply right now. On people coping with the heat may not be able to afford running their air conditioners right now, or they're they may be using air conditioners that suck in air from the outside. There are also folks farm workers who are working outside right now, so not every Californian may be able to keep themselves as safe as they need, Teo. That's that sounds bleak. It is bleak, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of also warned that wildfire smoke can increase susceptibility to lung infections, including the novel Corona virus. We have people who are evacuating being forced by circumstances into close proximity, which can increase the risk of the Corona virus spreading. I talked to. Ah, mother and daughter, who were evacuating one of the Lightning sparked fires at the end of August. And they said the choice of whether to evacuate and be around other people or stay in their homes and risk burning was A pretty clear one to make, you know. They told me we're going to catch on fire and we're going to be dead or we're going to go someplace where there's more than eight people. You know, we keep seeing that wildfire season gets longer and longer. I mean shoot. Most of California isn't fire season all year round. It seems like especially in the drought years of of late. When you keep breathing in the terrible air fromthe wildfires that keep happening over and over again Over the course of years and years when you see that, you know the research that's out there. Obviously your body takes a big hit, right? It can't be good for you. Yeah. I mean, this is a climate change story. You know, a collision of crises we can expect to see more of climate change is worsening wildfires. It's making it hotter. And as a result of that, and our continued reliance on fossil fuels, our air is going to get dirtier. It's this kind of vicious spiral that's caught Californians and isn't letting go and lower income Californians are going to be hit especially hard. You mentioned climate change. Obviously, we just came off of it. I mean, record breaking hot weekend where temperatures exceeded 100. 20 in Woodland Hills and some other parts of greater L A. I mean, Ah, Heat exacerbates this for sure. And we're getting hotter, right? Yeah, yeah, We're definitely getting hotter. With climate change and and heat. Khun basically stew, the toxic soup of air pollution from the air can become stagnant. It can trap pollutants and make an increased surface levels of smog. On. That's in addition to all of the particulates and smoke we have in the air, so we're really seeing a combination of pollutants and risks for people out there breathing this Rachel

"Cool info gel on a hot day. I'm Jennifer Jones Lee Lad from the 24 hour news room. The heat in Southern California has been inescapable. The National Weather Service recorded high temps in the triple digits yesterday, even in mountain communities like Lake Arrowhead and Idlewild. Even parts of Catalina Island were above 100 degrees yesterday as early as 10 A.m.. National Weather Service says the extremely hot, massive air smashed the all time heat record for L. California's power grid operators, thank people for conserving power to help avoid rolling blackouts. Officials say it could have been forced to impose rolling blackouts, but people stepped up and made sacrifices with their energy use. Despite the extreme heat. Another flex alert is in effect today. Between three and nine PM people are asked to avoid using large appliances into pre cool their homes before those peak hours. News is brought to you by MIKE Diamond. The smell good plumber. The governor has declared a state of emergency for five counties because of wildfires that have burned more than 1.6 Million acres. Declaration covers ST Bernardin, O San Diego, Fresno, Madeira and Mariposa. Fires have also killed at least eight people and destroyed more than 3300 homes and buildings. Thousands have been forced to leave their homes well, crews work to contain flames that continue to tear through dry brush trees and grass that haven't burned in decades. "It is a heatwave. Tomorrow is gonna be another record breaker up to 115 degrees, and we're not talking about the desserts, either in the inland empire here in the San Fernando Valley out in Woodland Hills Chatsworth area. Gonna be hot, hot hot, not his fits. But still hot. You'll be swimming in your shorts. Wait, Which is it? Oh, yeah, but not in your right for in your shorts in a in our sport. Yeah, I know. Not Schwartz shorts showing? No, I said that on purpose, Okay, got it. And there's only a flex way. Ah, flex alert. Coming up. Throw into nine tomorrow, you know and lending. So turn your own finishing. Ah, up to what? 78 degrees. That's what they'd like. Yes, they'd like that. And And for those of you that don't have air conditioning on and you're going to die. Ah, they like that to know they don't know they do not. There's also one weird thing. So this this heat wave this week is all over the West. So it's not just us. I guess that Oregon and Washington are supposed to have it as well. But what that does is it lessens the AA number of places we have to import. The electricity. Oh, yeah, Of course. I made it to also with the pandemic and they're cooling areas where people can go malls, etcetera. How do you do that with social distancing? I mean, you talk about a perfect storm or lack of storm in this case, all right handle. They were just talking about this off the air, and the good news is the U. S unemployment rate has dropped to 8.4%. So that's great. It's gone from 10.2 to 8.4%. But If you still look at places like restaurants, people who were servers there or you look at the airline industry..

"Today we are jumping in there's another episode that is a hall episode. So today's the Aldy Hall. GonNa make the joke, the hall yeah. I know I always make the joke it's I. Think I'm over the joke. Brought it back. I love all the all the is actually a new discovery for me, and now I describe it as like a less expensive trader Joe's. Isn't that kind of what it's like pretty much which is crazy because trader Joe's is already inexpensive. Like yeah. It's like the dollar store trader joes well, I. Mean the last time I said it was like smartandfinal meets the dollar store and some people got upset about that comparison. But like I love the dollar store and by the way, people need to know that the food that you get at the dollar store is not older expired in some cases it's a lot of big brands that are specifically making foods for the dollar store. So I don't know that but I a big fan of the dollar store. So I take that as a compliment if somebody would say that anyway, that's just me. But today we are going through a whole bunch of products I went to all the last week. I purchased don't know like nine hundred item. So. A lot of the stuff that I bought were holding off in a few more weeks. We'll do it all the hall I'm GonNa. Go back to all the fill it out. But I, I mean I literally got like fifteen things and we're going to try one, seven, eight, eight of them today. It's going to be tough for me to not eat that one thing that's in the bag that we're gonNA wait on because it just I can I look at it every day and I wanna eat it I'm guessing it's peanut butter flavored Jamie please hide this from him. It'd be having other PB item today. It's a little bit of a weird. I am I'm actually really excited with that one. So I'm excited about everything today zero. All right. So before we jump in and start eating everything in sight Mike, what you got. Are you ready for your new favourite fall drink? Viva Seltzer has just come out with a new flavor. Do you WANNA guess. So it's fall themed. So the is it the I think it's V. visit. Oh, it's. I don't know. Could. Use this Jamie what does it looks like the va I don't know. Whatever you want to her five. The new flavor is pumpkin spice. So it's a hard seltzer pumpkin spice flavors. It looks like right now it's only being sold at Kroger Stores and Kentucky Tennessee and Ohio. But I'm sure we'll go nationwide wouldn't go nationwide. By, the way I don't know if you know this but the vive or. Whatever it's called their heart seltzer drinks or one hundred calories and two grams of carbs. Yeah. That's not bad except the only bad part of that is hard. Seltzer Gross. That's my. I don't I am not a fan and the the idea of like a pumpkin spice flavor that sounds terrible to me. Might be harsh right now no I feel like the only excuse for a pumpkin spice flavored cocktail as if it's like a frozen sweet. Type of like creating. Yes. Creamy. So the article that I that I read this from, they got a taste of it and they said it's amazing like it's and they thought the same thing like it would be terrible and they loved it so. I will give it a try I'm GONNA give it the benefit of. And a our little community of Woodland Hills is in the news like big time in the news Amazon fresh. The one that we have that we've been getting our deliveries from there finally, opening it up to walk in customers. It's the first in the country like no other Amazon, fresh stores allowing customers walk inside except for ours right now. And it's by appointment only I guess you have to go on and make an appointment. And, the store does have cashiers but they they encourage you to use their dash cart our showing Jamie this the other day. So it's a cart with a screen on it and every time you pick up an item, you scan the item on the car and then charges you on your Amazon Account. So I'm imagining it to punch in your code or something when you get get the cart. And I'm not, GonNa go to any stores as of it on my comfortable yet. But I don't know might be something you might WanNa check out judgy when you say You might want to go into a store. That sounds cool. I. The thing I know about Amazon fresh is that whenever I order anything, there's like for every item, there's like eighty eight pieces of packaging. It's like they wrap everything in plastic and in cooler bag, and then in a brown bag and then box. But maybe if you go to the store, you won't get all the packaging but I'm excited actually so I will check it out

"Woodland Hills, one of one South bound at DeSoto Avenue. Still have this crash blocking the middle lane there and you are backed up all the way. From Valley Circle Boulevard. This's all things considered from NPR news. I'm Stacy Vanek Smith and I'm Ari Shapiro. In Texas. Five conservative members of the state Legislature are suing the governor who's also a Republican. They accuse Governor Greg Abbott of abusing his emergency powers during the pandemic. The lawsuit reflects a larger ideological power struggle between the right wing of the Texas GOP and governor Abbott As NPR's Wade Goodwin reports the governor's decision to hold power close to his vest is making him unpopular with both Democrats and Republicans. When the pandemic first hit Texas this spring, Governor Greg Abbott earned pretty high marks as much of the state shut down, and he promised that data and medical science would guide it's reopening. But as the country's economy fell off a cliff and president Trump began to forcefully agitate for the states to reopen Abbott did on the first of May measured Lee at first. But soon Texas was back in business. When Democratic leaders wanted to continue to at least mandate masks, Abbott said No, and he vowed to sue any mayor or county executive who tried it. So initially, I had the authority to issue a stay home order a restaurant order a face covering order. When the governor issued his reopening order, it included a provision Removing that authority Judge Lena Hilda Go is the Harris County chief executive who helps govern nearly five million people, including the city of Houston. Hidalgo says Abbot's refusal to allow local leaders to mandate any restrictions change the public's perception of the viruses threat as the governor would say. "Tk Bag on the show. Super happy to have you back. And finally using the setup that I have to say you inspired me to get. Okay! Using Stream Yard Yeah No. Stream Yard and. This is actually my first time trying it, which is why we're not live right now. I'm just using it to record some trying to see. I'm trying to get my feet wet with it, but here's the thing like we have our cameras here. We've been using our cameras for the for the video feeds I. Actually bought a new Mike, which is why I don't have the face Mike for once. That's true. Actually I just realized that. Yeah, yeah, when you said that it's like I. Don't normally see that little. The wire I mean it's a nice Mike. By the way, it's a very professional secret service almost, but you know. It's definitely cool the audio on that. It was always great. The only thing is I've got this Mike. Because I'm using it for literally. Everything I finally got sick of the way that my audio sounded. I know that in the comments. No one cares but when I'm editing, my own videos I'm just like okay like it just doesn't sound like me. You know exactly. So I fell down a youtube rabbit hole and I got a Mike, and then I got an audio interface. I'm just GonNa like nothing is on right now, but if I hit this button, this would be the PS four. Okay. I'm assuming you're running through the atom. Bomb like anatomy finally. Nice! Okay, that's right. That's right. We talked about it a little. You mentioned you found a deal and I. Think we're looking into whole. You know getting. Dadan so glad you found it. I didn't upgrade to the pro. I was going as I think we kind of talked about. I tried the pros. Defined as the regular one. This crazy. And it's funny because these are so hard to find on any of the major retailers and the only place I could find. It was like a small boutique place, which is closer to where you are in the west side. I think Woodland Hills, but somewhere out there but yeah like I. Finally got it and at first. I was like okay. I love the way that it works. It's very convenient. I can use it for like game. Recording game streaming, which I might get into actually made a twitter account. But I was like you know I have like three capture cards. They all would work. This is convenient I. Don't know if it's ultimately that useful. And then I looked at their return policy, and these specifically have no returns on black magic design products. I don't know why why yeah So look the reality. The the the interface itself is great for live streaming. That's really all I use it. I use it for live streaming and also use it for. Recording. One of the things I actually I agree with you on the on the beginning the audio situation with the Office for me at least. I want to move away from using livelier mark in the office at such a small environment and I love how the audio sounds from this type of audio so I'm actually I'm in kind of the same situation. I am transitioning away from using Wireless can actively mostly because of Inter Inter interference of had some interference. Whenever, you have any kind of smartphone. anyways but the atom mini has been for me at least within the last five months, or so an integral part of coast, every piece of work that generated because of the interface because of the monitoring functionality. It's really meant to be part of a deck right so you have like your audio interface in you have this I don't use it for the audio and like I said I'm sad that you don't have away returning it necessarily, but I'm pretty sure you can sell it. There's there's enough of a demand on it like the for any reason, if it doesn't end up being the right one for you and you WANNA maybe go with A. Like a stream yard or something like that or something I think by I think there's other brands that kind of have similar stuff. You won't have a problem, but I I hope it works out. Yeah I'm. That's the reason why I made. The twitter account because I was like okay, if I can't return it, I might as well like try to make it work. Yeah, so. Why not get him? It's kind of at the point where. Just just mitigate some of the few things that are missing in the committee. I just always record separate audio just in case. Skirt all of that. But. Yeah, you know what? We got into the weeds, a little bit with some of our setup and whatnot, but the reason why I wanted to have Tiki on is because he has the full setup. Yeah, now I do too so I wanted to mess around with stream yard, a little bit for our podcast listeners, or if you're watching this on facebook or I, G TV, which will be posted on there. I actually wanted to put something out there. We might be moving this podcast facebook live. It will still be posted in all of the same places as before it's just we're going to a different live platform. The video the video portion. Exactly. So the video was still be on TV like it has been, but ninety TV's been so buggy, and it's been really pissing me off. So I figure, lets you stream yard. It'll record it, and then I can take that recording. Put It on facebook. Live posted on. Your facebook page for hogging now has like half a million followers.

"Role today right now your roads in Woodland Hills won a one north found this one and Canoga Avenue got a crash blocking the offramp there traffic is slow from desoto so not too bad just to exit or sell a Fontana ten eastbound at Sierra Avenue got a crash hanging out on the right shoulder and got traffic slowing from about mountain center Monica through mid city some slowing right now the ten eastbound on beginning a clover field that's gonna stick with you through Alameda it's five twenty this is All Things Considered from NPR news I'm ari Shapiro and I'm Mary Louise Kelly as the nation tries to re open more and more people are getting tested to see if they have antibodies in their blood that might protect them against the corona virus but do those antibodies equal protection NPR health correspondent rob Stein has been looking into this Salvador Perez is fifty three lives in Chicago he got really sick in April with covert nineteen burning fever shivering chills I talk with parents with one of his daughters Sheila so she could translate Forrest's animal costume movie or semi failure we shall sector he said this has been one of his worst experience of his life and he thought he was gonna make it Paris isolated himself in his room in their apartment while I was sick to protect his family but now Paris wants to go back to work at a Chinese restaurant but the restaurant told me need to test an antibody test first so we found one and tested positive he has antibodies to the corona virus proteins that is immune system reduced to fight the virus they have taken them to the valley's Caleb they have the endings this time yeah he says he feels great that he can move back to work since we haven't really paid our bills yet and who feels great thank you kids are doing and what he has done before the virus again but he's also nervous that he might get exposed to the virus again if the restaurant was very close in the second was a complete line etcetera etcetera he's anxious thank you doesn't want to get sick he's kind of scared of going back to work because he doesn't want the eight or gets a little worried that he he might go through it again in Paris is right to be worried those antibodies might help protect them but they might not where they might only protect them a little or just for a little while no one knows and there's lots of questions about the reliability of a lot of the antibody tests out there but lots of people are getting the test anyway doctor we need a more a is an immunologist helping Chicago's Latino community get antibody test I had a gentleman this morning and he came in because he wanted to do antibody testing because there had been three coworkers who had passed away from Corbett nineteen and there were over on two hundred cases of covert nineteen positive in their factory and so prior to getting back into work his job was requiring him to get this test done but Morris says she tries to make sure all her patients understand that they still have to be careful no one can let down their guard just because they have the antibodies you having positive antibodies means that you have some protection but you can still get it again and then you want to protect your loved ones right so you want to teach your kids the right thing to do so keep the faith caught on keep the social distancing and so forth like thank god you're able to go back to work at center but this is the only way that we can control this pandemic some you're not just getting anybody test because they have to for work some employers are doing anybody testing to figure out how many employees have been exposed to the virus and where some labor unions are offering the test to workers to give them some sense of security and four hundred nineteen dollars anyone can now get one through big commercial testing companies like quest John pepper and his wife Diane have been wondering whether they had cove it ever since they got sick in April two and whether they might now have some immunity so they got tested I feel like we have some level of protection that our bodies of been through this and they're fighting back and they have the capacity to fight back further if necessary so I think it's something that's in my corner and getting through this especially in a hot spot like New York City where we're surrounded by people who have been exposed to this infected and it's a bit of peace of mind for me pepper sixty four says they still try to stay six feet away from other people wear masks when they go to stores the mostly put other shoppers at ease up behind those masks peppering his wife feel more relaxed and they're thinking about having their adult children over for dinner for the first time since new York's lockdown started at some point we have to resume life again and based on this test I feel like we have some sense of a bit of security but all this makes many doctors and public health experts very nervous there's a lot of misconceptions about anybody tests like antibodies mean you are infected anymore you might be or anybody's mean you can't catch a virus again maybe you could so it would be dangerous to say stop wearing a mask visit your elderly parents get too close to other people at work or anywhere else chilly reply ski is director of infectious diseases at the association of public health laboratories I think people just want this to go away and want to resume their normal lives and I want this to go away and I want to resume my normal life but my fear is that they were going be used as the sort of golden ticket to demonstrate immunity when we just don't know that that's the case that said Rubashkin others say an antibody test might offer at least some guidance if someone in the family have to go to the pharmacy or back to work here's Michael Minna he's an infectious disease expert at Harvard if I had a household where I had a number of younger individuals in the household and one of whom had antibodies I think that that individual would probably be the safest bet to to be able to safely go and get the groceries I still probably wouldn't want that person going it getting groceries and then the next day going to a nursing home to see grandma so no test yet offer some kind of golden immunity passport guaranteeing it's safe to roam the world freely again but more and more people are starting to use anybody test to make important decisions about how to try to re emerge back into their lives rob Stein NPR news there's a little shoe repair shop in my hometown Atlanta in the Buckhead neighborhood it's been in the same shopping center for more than fifty years I'm learning can shoes that's June Jordan he's eighty two Joe and his wife Patty who is seventy five run the shop he fixes the shoes she minds the front counter he slammed my head on his right hand so we work together he said do I hate India business had been slowing down for a while Joe Jordan says young folks these days don't think of getting their shoes repaired they just throw them out or wear sneakers then came the pandemic the Jordan's had to close the shop when they re opened earlier this month they were behind on the rent and not sure if customers would return well the Atlanta newspaper the journal constitution ran a story about their plight and new customers showed up they brought their shoes to be fixed and also brought donations to help the couple with expenses I am a terrorist group Joe Jordan did not set out to have a career in shoes he grudgingly fix them when he was in the army he came to despise broken shoes and boots and add support to last throughout the day our neighbor view thread together J. are out of work in the nineteen fifties his shoe repair experience led him to take a job at Cato's shoe repair the then owner took a shine to Jordan so much so he sold in the shop for one dollar Harry joined him in the business working alongside her husband after a little bit irritated but takes issue that can't fix issue instead she handles customers and policy issues the Jordan's commute an hour and a half everyday from a distant county to the shop expenses do keep piling up but Joe wants to keep working well I think a case may go I make as a case manager as rock harbor road and a job so how do you do it's another matter well I'm not Fully say the man was Opposers who used dating sites to pretend to be a millionaire LAPD Lieutenant Jeff Hollis says the man picked up dozens of women in sports cars. He is a very well. "Staff tight ends and quarterbacks Woodland Hills high school in Pittsburgh where rob spent his senior year, and if you walk show one of those thirty thirty something shows on the on the other network. Yeah, you'll hear his father moved into Pittsburgh to teach them how to run block. And that's what we're known for by the way, my tight end that year. Well, rob gronkowski. And the little brother of Jason Taylor. Noah taylor. At any rate. Rob was an amazing guy. And you said that he's learned from all the other tight end. But I don't think that's it. And I think it's easy highest evolution of water. Pipe end is route running walking he can eat an every down. We finally have a producing every down pied in. Well, no, I I know, but you learn from those your predecessors. And thank you Joe for the phone call. I think gronk just took some things from these other tight ends. And then incorporated that into his game. Maybe I'm giving him more credit. Maybe that's just who he is. He went out there. And he said this is how I play. But you know, he is a blocker. And most tight ends. You don't think of as great blockers? He can beat. You downfield is average yards per catch. He scores touchdowns, Shannon Sharpe. And. Tony Gonzalez were able to do those things. But he did it on a big stage for a great team and he'll be a first ballot hall of Famer. This guy is just getting started is rookie season with the Atlanta Hawks averaging eighteen point seven almost eight assists per game. And he's trae young who joins us on the program, by the way is last game. He hit the buzzer beater beat the seventy Sixers scoring thirty two points with eleven assists. Trae good morning. How are you? Undoing. I'm doing great. I'm just curious that you know, what rookies usually hit that rookie wall. You seem to be getting better at the end of the season. Why is that? I mean for me. Maybe my rookie wall at the beginning. And I went over it. Really? Yeah. I I really think that it's it's for me. Now. Even a fourth time. And now, I know more about I mean the guards and the player them playing against and. Type of I'm seeing that. So I think the game is going down for me just because things like that. When was your welcome to the NBA moment who were you guarding where you went or they were guarding you. I had a couple. I mean, I could say that I get an NBA denies Square Garden. I mean, that's a real through days. Surreal moment for me. I had a chance to game winner in LA and Staples Center against the Brown in the first time I played him. So I think probably that moment. Probably my we'll continue to moment. Have you guarded James? Have you tried to guard? James harden this year? Yeah. Yeah. I got a couple of times. What's that like? Everybody. That's it. A garden. You don't know where you're going to do what he's going to step back. Try to go around. You you got to. I mean, try your best to contest contests every side. It just feels like he's unstoppable. Trae. Yeah. No on that on that offense. I mean. He's probably second to none. As far as the score any time. Sometimes you just gotta hope he's off tonight as far as sitting did you fill out a bracket for the NCAA tournament. Yeah. I did. I did. I thought that too. Okay. How far did you have Oklahoma going? Unbiased wonder by swans, unbiased biased Ida. Out of Seattle fall into two Regina Rudeina's. This is too good. This year. Okay. I see. But the good thing about that. I had them wanted at all. So good. Beat us that they win it off. Wait, you have Virginia we winning at all. Yeah. Virginia winning it all were you rooting for or against Duke last night. Okay corridor. I liked in like, you know, the guys plays then getting bumped early in the tournament. It'd be fun did Duke recruit you. Yeah. Early on. I did. And. I mean doubt. But early on. I took a visit up there and everything is unique here. Well, so did they did they stop recruiting you? Or did they realized that maybe you're going to stay close to home at Oklahoma? Yeah. Yeah. I think that's more. What it was? They thought I was going to stay closer home or end up in Kentucky. And you can go that route. But that's what it was. I mean, I I had to offer. I just capable was the one who created the. Yeah. Macos K. So yeah, that's what happened with them. Are you allowed to shoot whenever you want to? I don't know. I don't know that answer. Well, have you been told not to shoot? No. Then you have the green light to shoot whenever you want. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I time the right place. I don't see it every time who has deeper range than you in the NBA. That's a good question. I don't know. I think I mean Steph. I mean, a lot of range Daimiel. There has a lot of range those guys for sure I think I think are out there. Priority to I could think of what was it like oh playing against Golden State. First time. It was great. It was kind of surreal because growing up. I mean, I was always I mean, obviously, I don't watch a lot of stuff. But I mean, I grew up in. Okay. See where I was able to to be. I mean, pretty closely K D so knowing throughout high school, and when I was younger playing for the first time was was pretty cool and pretty surreal so playing against Steph was obviously pretty cool. But I mean, Katie seeing him playing it ten with of what are you miss about college? I think the atmosphere. I mean, I went to the the first round game when Oklahoma played ole miss and just the atmosphere. I mean, you don't get that. About. I mean, I embrace the signs that the student say she was bringing chance and different things and Dover like overrated chance all of those things. I mean college basketball environments bring to the game that you don't necessarily see every night in the NBA you see him in some arenas. But I mean that the atmosphere in college is something different. Can you? Explain to me when you go down the floor Bank at what point do you realize that you may just pull up and take like, what do you see that? You just go. Okay. You're going to give me this. And then you're gonna take the jumper. I think the defenders is all the way back to three point on. 'cause I mean for me as I'm doing if I hit one or two threes already in the game. And I'm I'm feeling good. If I come down, and we get a rebounded. I'm pushing it in transition. And the defender might offend his is in the at the three point line. I mean, there's a good chance. I'm pulling it up from from pretty far how many dogs do you have this year? He wrote. Zero dark pray. What are you doing? I know. I know I I get clowns invent about Dunkin. He's waiting for my friends Duncan again. I mean, Vince is my age trae, and he's still don't you? He's not human. Can you get a dunk before the end of the regular season? We we can plan on how we can try. I can try, but you can dunk right? Yeah. I can okay. Okay. I if you what one of my favorite few thoughts about this. The MO YMCA talking about I mean gains in appointee scored his career, but never never. I think John Stockton. Even had a dunk trae in his career so on. I know I need to get it done. Yeah. Just a little bit. And I think you've got to change the spelling of your name. Why T R E Y? No, no Mondays different. I like it. No, you're trading, you shoot trays your three. No way. Different unique. I like that. I like it. I like it. Hey, congrats on this season. It's it's pretty lofty company there. And I know it's you and Luca going down to the wire for rookie of the year. So did you guys ever talk about that? When you guys met at the all star game. Now, we talked to a little bit about it. But not too much known Luca for a little bit. We met this off season stock bought season and at the tracks, and then rookie transition and any we never talk. I mean every so often so we talked about the rookie of the year style. This is the thing. So. Good do. But yeah, we stay in contact a little bit. Well, congrats on the season. So far and good luck. With a rookie of the year honors great to catch up with you again. Appreciate it. Thank you for having me on again. All right. That's trae young and eighteen point seven eight assists per game making him one of only six players. Who would become the fifth rookie ever with those averages for season he being there with Iverson Damon Stoudamire who we forget how great Damon Stoudamire was in the beginning of his career Magic Johnson and Oscar Robertson. I think LUKA probably build up too much of a lead early early going, but trae young, and you sort of forget Luca just had a triple double against Golden State. But you gotta go out of your way to find trae young and usage just highlights. But if you watch him he is member, we weren't sure if you'd hold up and who's he gonna like all of these things that we, you know, we keep labeling these guys, and I always go who's guarding him. Who's guarding him? He's he doesn't turn twenty one until September news averaging almost nineteen and eight against grown men. Yeah. Polling Atlanta's in a weird situation right now they have their own top ten draft pick. But they have Atlanta's draft pick. I'm sorry. Dallas Mavericks draft pick. If Dallas doesn't lose too many more games because it's protected Dallas lost another eight of ten well that was the Luca trade. Right. So like if Dallas gets a top five pick, they keep it. I will take a break your phone calls. They're welcome to the weekend. We'll get to more of those. We have an update on the meet Friday songs. So we paired the field in half from the mosquitoes sixteen to the elite eight then the final four. And of course, the Hebrew national championship in Minnesota. Jesus, KFI and NRA discussed on Jesus Christ Show

"If you want more of the, show during the week that is the only way to get it to that quantity it's. Just under seven hours or so of content delivered on Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays and then in. Addition to that you get this show every hour on the hour on during the show he, gets posted so you get that also follow us on Twitter at Jesus show Jesus show Vince welcome to the Jesus Christ show Jesus I Vince what's on your mind I've been. Very lucky in my life I've had two. Beautiful children I was raised Catholic I have a Muslim wife and I. Have two children that are. In a Jewish preschool Wow you're like the colors of Benetton but with religion Right And you know where I stand on religion is that I don't really believe in any of it, personally, I I'm an atheist But I gotta tell you that a lot of good things have happened in my life I've been a, lot, about some downs And, I help people I'm a dentist I, help the underprivileged I a big brother I do a lot of good things and I. I try to do that every day And some some of that gets returned. To me some. Not but I really. Don't care whether it. Does or doesn't and as a result a lot, of good things have happened to me But I am an atheist and You. Know I'm just curious to to I just wonder what we're. Jesus or, God stands on that I mean if you know what has to happen, to me after I pass away somebody who basically is a good person who tries to do good things in general and tries to be. Make other people better around them What's. Your position, on that well Vince the the questions interesting and slightly odd because you, don't believe so why would you be concerned about an afterlife you don't believe in a God I'm assuming you don't believe in an afterlife No I don't believe in an afterlife either okay I believe that we. We we assume beings have, limitations of our five senses and we can't possibly know what's go beyond the atmosphere and beyond this. The. The stars that shouldn't recognize there probably are things? Larger or infinitely larger or? Smaller, than us but we as human beings don't have enough courage to to. Say that what we don't know to admit? What we don't know so so. Are you fearful that you might be wrong Not in not in the least okay Then, the answer any answer give his. Moot It means nothing. My answer means nothing your question means nothing if you don't believe, there's a cliff and you're, driving towards it The honest reaction and response is that you'll die regard regardless of your belief but it made me. Nothing to me but it may mean a lot to someone who doesn't matter doesn't. For the question. Is to see what we're. Jesus stands on. A person like me. And there has to. Be an answer there I don't know and you don't know me It's that simple it's like asking we'll, how does a stranger feel about you now there's a creation connection and that's it you choose not to know you choose to to be an artist without God and if you believe that then. You live that. Way and living that way If the creator created me then he must have a connection with. Me even though I don't, have a connection with him indeed there is a Created, a son but he never met his son before but there is there's a base connection absolutely. Scripture, talks about that So that's why God loves everyone. Must no answer for what Jesus there's no relationship born a person like me there has to be some type. Doesn't matter it doesn't matter because you. Don't believe it does not, interact with you or intersect with you in any way if you don't believe it means nothing. If it's like someone saying, I wanna know what you want me, to do here even though I'm not, gonna do it if you ask a, question if you put it in that. Light. There is no answer Now if you called and you asked me and he. Said listen I'm wavering and I'm not. Sure and I wanna know, what there is on the other side of it then, I tell you but there's no reason. For me to tell you, about the consequence of something that you, don't believe is consequential Jesus Christ will return in a moment Part, of the.
