The southlands in thousands in early days we couldn't handle all the crabs that were coming up, so it'd be kind of surreal I can imagine a beach full of crabs. It is and we you know. We had very selective fishermen that we work with because again. They a lot of them just didn't see the value of them. It took us a long time to get the get the attention of the commercial industry. Get them to realize the value of the crab. Eventually we did I would actually drive to the docks during shrimping season If they caught him as byproducts I would just leave our car business card and say hey, call us if you catch any byproduct I'll come, pick them

UNC's Lost Season
"Jeff Bordello. I'm a little shook. North Carolina finished the regular season. They lose to do because that's fine we're used to that but they're the lowest seed in the ACC tournament North Carolina. So some how you would view this season for the tar heels. I mean they're arguably the most disappointing team in the country. Jeff Portillo is a college basketball insider for ESPN. And I know we have to take some other factors into account with injuries. And Karl Anthony and things like that but you know this was a preseason top ten team that like you said is going to be the bottom seed in the ACC tournament in the ACC is not goodness here. It's a it's a pretty down league you know. There are Miami. Nbc in Wake Forest Pittsburgh. None of those teams are very good and Carolina is at the bottom of all that and to me. That's shocking you know. This is one of the best of all time blueblood like I said a top ten preseason team and four months later five later. They're the worst team in the ACC. It's one of the bigger stories in college football this season and I think you could really make the case that there are the biggest disappointment in college hoops so let's go back to October. Preseason rankings come out North Carolina's in the top ten. They're sitting at number nine refresh everybody in what the real expectations were coming into this season for this team. I mean they a lot of guys from last year but they did bring in what people expected was an impact recruiting class was led by Karl Anthony Centerpiece of Roy Williams retooling effort. It's chole Anthony. Going the top freshman in the country making his debut tonight from of a raucous crowd here that the dome he was expected by pretty much everyone to be the most productive freshman in the country. That's how he wasn't high school that's where he was on the scene. He was a guy that was going to put up big points. He was gonNA put a big assist numbers. He's going to rebound and he was going to win games. That's just that's just what he was at the high school level and people expected him to to be that same player Carolina and it. Kinda set up perfectly for him because he was able to come in and this was a team that didn't have any real goto guys coming back. So they said hey collapsed. And you're getting the ball from day one and you're gonNA lead us and you know it kind of looked good. You know in the first game of the season. He was terrific. He had thirty four points. Eleven rebounds five assists debut for coal. Anthony lost a lot of stars to the NBA. After last season with the go one superstore Chambal. Whom the feeling was that? You know this team is going to be okay. Even despite the losses and along with him they brought into Grad transfer. Is that you know. We're probably two of the five or seven best. Grad transfer is in the country was Christian Keeling from Charleston southern just NPR's from William and Mary and and that added some experience at its veteran leadership and combined with a couple of other guys are Mondo Baker was a five star recruit garrison brooks was a two year starter download so i. I just think that people thought you combine the newcomers with the guys returning and even though there weren't any stars coming back from last year's team there was enough here to to compete for an ACC title and Roy Williams has done this before where his team is is written off a little bit in the preseason and under rank behind teams like Duke and he finds a way to win and that's just what he does and and I think people expected him to do it again with the guys coming in and coming back well so now you've got a team that has preseason expectations they get into. The season was the first time this season there was the first real sign of concern that the season might not go the way some had hoped. I think it was a couple of things I think one was even when they were winning the game. They won their first five games of the season. But even some of those the Notre Dame win the Alabama win. There were some signs of. Is this team going to be as good as we thought were Williams? I you get the sense. He hasn't loved all aspects of his teams. Play here today. You know he has. He has not name barely beat. Notre Dame eleven point margin was it. It wasn't addictive. How close the season opener was against Notre Dame so I think there was. Okay let's give it time. Let's let Cole Anthony. And the other freshman get acclimated and this team will figure it out but they lose by twenty five at home 'til Ohio state to start December. You know then they lose that. Virginia you know losing effort gene is not not a usually a big concern. This is not a vintage Virginia team and I think most people realize that at that time and then they lose to Wofford. They ended up finishing below five hundred in the southern conference. Terriers come to Chapel Hill and knock off a top twenty five North Carolina squad. And that's when the you know the eyebrow start raising what's going on with his team are they poised to be this massive disappointment and obviously once call. Anthony gets hurt. The wheels fall off from their breaking news. Call Anthony out four to six weeks after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery to repair a partially torn meniscus. Well at that point you know maybe things are a little bit concerning. But they're going to get two. Acc conference play. You said it the ACC not the best conference in the world so they get to the ACC schedule. How's that go form? You look at their schedule and you said okay they can. They can weather the storm three straight home games in. Acc play against Georgia Tech Pit Clemson and they had games against Pittsburgh Virginia Tech Miami even a bad UNC team or even a a mediocre UNC. Team could go six in Owen. Those games it was kind of the the bottom half of the league and they went one and five losing the first five games of that stretch. Seventy nine seventy seven double-overtime Virginia tech knocking off North Carolina. I think that was almost getting the end. When you look back the schedule what would be the one moment that sort of pushed everything over to the point in return honestly I think it was after Columbia comes back a long ways away. Eleven Games without call Anthony but he will play tonight. Yeah the five hundred. Unc team suddenly. Jay has a lot of juice and he'd be Miami. Nc State then call and he comes back for a home game in Boston College and you know. They weren't very good at the time but they tended ten three and six in the ACC and you know the the narrative was kind of okay. If Cole Anthony Comes back the committee will look at them and say you know with call. Anthony this is an NCAA tournament team. He's going to be on the roster in the NCAA tournament they're going to factor that in so I think people started wondering can. Unc string together. Some wins and make a late run and in his first game back. You lose at home to Boston. College straight three other time. He's spoiled return. I think that was the sign that it's not going to happen so that's not. Obviously the only epic moment we all continue to think about from the season tickets back to the first game between North Carolina and Duke. The Duke Game was a game that that could have turned things around at least changed the narrative about Carolina and to lose in that fashion. Another late blown lead. Losing to your biggest rival do comes back not to be Carolina to me. That was that was a really low mon it just because it it could have been really a season changing moment for Carolina and the way it happened it just it kind of sent them even further down into the season
Chelsea knock Liverpool out of FA Cup
"Discussion. We've been having with discussions vivid stretch. Everyone just shouting at me over the last couple of days. Liverpool out the FA Cup big deal or not Look I think if you look at some of the teams. He played earlier in the competition. You could see that. This was not a priority for them. The fact of the route. Now I don't think moves the needle much. Think by the end of the season they'll be judged on whether or not they win the Premier League and we cautiously assume they will and and what they can do in the Champions League. Don't you think though alley that they should have? I don't think they should have a stronger song. Eleven out for this game given that they have already won the primarily. I do think there's an opportunity here for for Liverpool to if you're going to rest people you wrestle against born with and I understand the point that you were trying to make their so. I'm thinking if you have an opportunity to advance in a competition which you can win something. Then how about you put your best team in that competition you win the game you advance and then whatever it is that you need to do against permits you do now. What's do what's trying to get to that? Well you build momentum from the game against born well you could have done that with the first team by beating Chelsea and then you don't have to build anything going against me. I think there was a chance here for Liverpool to continue to advance in the competition. You Change your mind. I just can't give you a plausible answers to why he's chosen over overly game I. I'm not entirely sure it is. I think this is crystal clear is not particularly when an FA Cup and going all the way to the final. Thank not it's pretty clear gone. Gap could also be that when he has played best available. Eleven in the last couple of games before this game. They weren't very good and they lost a Wofford weren't good against West Ham and loss to Madrid. And so maybe he simply said what. Why don't you just take a mental break? And as far as resting people they did come off a two week stretch of Rasta winter. Break so I. I think he's probably looking at things. A little differently Chelsea then through to the quarter-finals the FA
Which Liverpool Will Show Up Against Chelsea?
"Chelsea Segment Liverpool tomorrow in the FA Cup Chelsea favorites actually To make it through to the quarter-finals proteins of wobbles of late. Which point of view is interesting? Because you'd imagine that they'll both go strong for this. Well I'm not sure I'm not sure. I actually think that someone digital in this area I think Chelsea my ever sneaky Johnson not because Liverpool were very weekend against wofford which to wear but one hole and two. And I'm only surmising here. You might be thinking about putting all these eggs and not jumping sleep boskin. But that's next week. You know that you know you try. And things like that we can mic on. You seem in. This man are vaccinated. I'm not talking about a player but I'm tired. I'm talking key. Players getting injured rights right. So it don't matter if the game is next week or ten days right not the full to lose money for. Minot already lost had this same delusion. Dale Van Dyke so I wonder whether or not he will make some not wholesale. Make quite a few changes for this game thinkin right. Bremer leaked pretty much the bike. Yes he's leak. You need to get you play a shop playing properly. I'm with Craig. I fully understand of you club. Mix Mix mix change it just because I just explained to me what will intend result against Wofford but even though Liverpool have been winning some of their performances have been great as you spoken about over the last couple of weeks or so of hood that you spoke about the last couple of weeks. So you understand if he wants to change things and maybe give some of keeps the rest at the same time Chelsea. I expect them to go strong. They have been all over the last few weeks really cover year on. Does he give give kept our roads and maybe figure things out with John so I I think this is a big game for Chelsea on you. See that brutally lineups probably result don. I totally agree with shocker. I cannot see Liverpool plains. Strong team looked at a team. They played against shoes being the last round and it was full of teenagers. Harvey Elliott played at Sixteen Chiro. Vela eighteen the oldest player was twenty one. So I can't imagine many of you have big hitters planning this because it's Craig said before you pick up an injury now and even though the chums league is approximately ten days away. You got no chance recovering so you don't play them now you don't play them against former Earth truly you need. I don't think sharpness I think played enough. Games is enough games in their legs to suggest that they are shot. I mean if anything I feel a little bit jaded. I thought you saw that in the performance against Wofford so I think you'll go pretty strong against Balmer. But even then he can rescue strong against former which is closest to the Atlanta game and getting doesn't matter at all I don't of the Premier League's the holy grail formulaic. It's funneling well. We we know the one the primly but young couple still want to get back on the horse of lost one game against Wofford and eastward in the press today saying good teams. Don't lose to the spin so that suggests to me that you know will will play people Adam Alana if he's in one or two others but it I guarantee you it'll be a very very young side against Chelsea then it'll be semi strong against Bournemouth and then he's full-strength side again southbound after the hostages. He can't take any chances. If if Monay for me no you know Van Dyke Allison if any of those pickup injuries in the next couple of games. I mean you'd have to say. The chances of them go through would be slim as the explanation. Divide combine any of them three three x pros plausible explanations of how the changes against Chelsea and make more changes against Baltimore in the League and then he hoped he put his strongest against us led to Madrid. Right that's not rocket science right just because you go there and play all his best players. Don't think Liverpool team right. We'll look at it and go while I think we'll look at it and it will be very much a hybrid. I'll be surprised if not rutland on prediction. I think Chelsea win because I said before the two sides the team in the manager that needs the result. Moawad it's frankly been on a desperate Ron. I come and tight on their game in the beginning against Balmer. They were lucky to get a draw. Fill scored a very company. Easy Chances. Zeljan would've got beaten the game so then not in great form so I would imagine frank logo really really strong and I think young young. Nothing the home side win for the reasons I mentioned. We'll have with changes which I think will come and Chelsea being at home and played some good stuff at home. I'm going to go for that reason. Jesse thanks very much

"wofford" Discussed on Dari and Mel
"In the Sweet Sixteen on the line all ripped through Melman. You tell me which one are you looking forward to the most Maryland LSU? There you go. Oh, Wofford, Kentucky, your Maryland, LSU Wofford can tell you I think is re interesting and if Wofford's hitting the three ball Kentucky is in trouble, Florida, Michigan Murray state and Jaama rant against Florida state. That's always going to be must watch Gonzaga Baylor. A big ten battle mentioned seven big ten teams left. Michigan state Minnesota going head to head Villanova Purdue. And then I love this. When at night primetime late game, Auburn, Kansas. What's got you going Maryland LSU well that that's the one for me because I'm marijuana. I see them all year and you'll lose three or last four coming into the tournament. You struggle. You narrowly beat Belmont, you're down you come back. You win by to their leading score. You don't get anything out of his three eighteen they wanted advance. They got to be more efficiently. Offensive end. They know that I they're only a two two and a half point underdog to LSU. It's a six against the three. We'll see I think Marilyn can benefit from what happened, but they got to get better on the offensive side. You mentioned Wofford they come in one twenty one. In a row. Yeah. They're only Dr in this game Kentucky's a five five and a half point favorite. I just think Kentucky as too much going on even though you have PJ walking out again with the spring foot. I think Kentucky athletic. We'll see there. And you mentioned it all burnt, and Kansas, and we hope maybe to get Bruce Pearl in today. Well, try we're working on getting Bruce. They're out in Salt Lake City couple hours behind us right now. But we will see if he gets back to me. But Auburn they're gonna live and die by the three. And he knows it. They may take forty forty two forty four shots from outside the arc wouldn't surprise anybody Bryce Brown Jared Harper if they get hot they've got a chance Kansas struggles defending the three a little bit. So that would be Auburn potentially their best shot. They got blasted by the way in this round by Clemson a year ago. That's a look it will you've got today we will get back into this coming up in just a little bit. We'll stay on the NC double A tournament with Dan dockage ESPN basketball analyst, he will join us next to get his take give us his take on what he's seen so far. Also, Tom Izzo. Oh yelled at a guy..
March Madness 2019: Let's try to explain this chalky Sweet 16
"So I know that we are down to the Sweet Sixteen after four incredible days of basketball, jam packed with college hoops. How's your bracket? Look, minus the food. I mine looks kinda gross now. But I would say we had a little bit of everything. If you went straight chalk you are in good shape after the first four days of the tournament because the ones the twos the threes in every region have advanced to the Sweet Sixteen so think about it in the east. We have Duke Michigan state LSU one two three and then a five own I'm sorry at four in Virginia Tech. So the top four in the east all advance in the west. It's the same thing Gonzaga, Michigan, Texas, Tech, Florida state one two three four. So that's the left half of your bracket. Again, the east and the west. In the mid west. You have a five spoiling the party, quote, unquote, Auburn beating Kansas. To to ruin the whole one two three four thing in the mid west. But otherwise, it's one two three five and then in the south one to three twelve boom. If you add the Oregon ducks. As a twelve seed. Turning into Cinderella and making it to the Sweet Sixteen. Well, then you are sitting pretty in your bracket. The only double figures seed surviving the final game of Sunday night. Actually pitted. A pair of double digit seeds in Oregon and UC Irvine who upset Kansas state on Friday. And so we knew there would be one double figures seed remaining liberty had a shot at Virginia Tech on Sunday evening that was a possibility. But for the most part again, if you went Chuck, Chuck, Chuck Chuck Chuck kicking up that dusty chalk. Well, then you're in good shape. I haven't checked the after hours bracket standings. But looking at my own bracket, I did have Oregon in the Sweet Sixteen, but I also had Wofford. And I had buffalo. And so I still have thirteen of my sixteen, but I don't think that's real difficult real difficult standard to maintain. Honestly. Again, if you went one twos and threes and fours, even you should be in good shape. Does it mean the tournament? Has it been good? However, there have been a lot of blow outs. There were getting down from thirty two to sixteen on Saturday. There were a bunch of blow outs. But there was also history. And there was also great drama Sunday. Brought us one of the best games of the year in Duke versus UCS. So we'll get to that game coming up. We also had with twenty five point rally to force overtime against Tennessee. I can only imagine the bullets that volunteer fans were sweating. But may what a performance from some of the big men in this tournament on Sunday. So I'd love to hear from you. What are you taking away from these first four days of the NCAA tournament with my apologies to Dayton the first four full days. And now we're down to Sweet

"Our today Tyler twelve and one of the best soccer players alumnus of the university of Maryland we've ever seen. We're one game down in the NCAA tournament today as LSU on a buzzer. Beater train out waters. Game winner knocks off Maryland sixty nine sixty seven so the three seed advances to the Sweet Sixteen. They're the first team to punch their ticket. They're in right now guys. Here we go again, eleven forty nine to go first, half, Wofford and Kentucky are tied at eleven. Taylor is Kentucky without PJ Washington. Here maybe a little bit vulnerable to a Wofford team that is capable of going on huge scoring binges. And they have one of the best three point shooters in this Fletcher McGee the college basketball has ever seen. Why that's more of it than Kentucky without Washington for me is I think Wolford, honestly, if they if you changed there. Name chew an SEC score. Big twelve score. They seven seed Aaron are probably they're probably a five. They probably had a better there thirty and four, you know. Right. So like that's kind of where like, it's it's a stronger seven seat that many people will give it to it. And obviously Fletcher can shoot the ball from anywhere on the court and he can single-handedly takeover a game. But you're right. They're vulnerable. I just think wolford's better than people give him credit people. Look at it and say, it's a seventeen. But in my mind, they easily could have been up five or four seat. Yeah. I mean when I look at this. We again, I was talking about this earlier about pulling the trigger early. When you see somebody do something in the first round. And you think that that's going to carrier that momentum going to keep going through the rest of the tournament Kentucky played Abilene Christian. I mean, I know they were without PJ Washington. They won that game seventy nine to forty four. But I don't think that that was really telling of how they would go up against a better team. And if Fleischer Mckee who currently doesn't have any points right now with the score tied eleven eleven the blessing twelve minutes left in the first half. I mean, if he gets if he's on fire. I don't think that they can stop them at this point. Wow. I is it good. For college basketball if Wofford advances or in the long run do you guys like to see the upsets early and then to not have Kentucky later in the tournament. What really makes for the best tournament. Because I I know I had fun with sister, gene. And that ride with Loyola Chicago last year. But then Taylor I just want to set this up like we got to the final four, and I gotta tell you. It was kind of underwhelming to not have you know, big name brand college basketball playing on that stage then change your postseason tournament earned because you're basing disposed season tournament. Don't get me started. It's basic it basically says to your regular season. And does it really bad because that's that's how the March madness is set up for one game. So you aren't going to get upsets, this is what the NCAA this is what Turner and CBS pay billion dollars. Plus four is for this. Whether Kentucky's in the final four or not. The United States of America. Publicly loves the Cinderella story. They love the underdogs. Do they or do? They love Zion. Williamson Rachel I love. I think it depends. When I look at this setup between Wofford can't depend. The question was in AB your answer. No. I I'm sorry. I have to answer the question like this because Kentucky isn't the big story this tournament. If it was this team playing Duke, then we don't wanna see them upset Duke at this point. But it's Kentucky the story is around North Carolina. Techy? Who's we I always say, we we the fans we the people so North Carolina fans have zero problem with that. They want Duke in the final four. No, I'm saying as a fan just watching March madness, you Kentucky isn't one of the the stories. We're hearing about or who we really want to see in the final four if this team knocks off a North Carolina or Duke, then I think people are upset. I think that one Cinderella story is great. I would I kind of want to put my energy behind a Murray state or UC Irvine. But I don't want to see this happen in every single the east the west is the south amid west I don't wanna see a Cinderella story in in every single one. We also. The final four is. Yes. Mandalay Taylor is pronounced of four ways. In this segment. I think Wofford using me lend, I look, let's. Because you have more fun saying woolford like it's like it's Worcester. By the way, I wou or offered is in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Notable alumni include Wendi nix, our colleague USPS Fisher debate, the former head coach force, and let's just move quickly through this name. Former Panthers owner Jerry Richardson back to the topic at hand. To me. I think TV ratings would show Taylor that Wofford Wolford in the final four is not good for college basketball. I think you're gonna get a lot more people to watch. And I. How do you measure not good? But how do you measure not good for college basketball? Not good for college basketball is the exposure of Zion. Williamson and now all these questions coming up about how are you? Measuring this. How are you measuring not good for college password? If Wofford ends up in the final four who by the way is thirty and four we act like it's a team that is like eighteen in eighteen that wonder four games in the conference tournament and barely made the barely made the tournament. Saying it's bad. If Wofford makes it it's that we are. That's the topic of conversation. I don't I what I said was no you wouldn't let me answer the question in two ways by answer has levels to this. I have saying that I don't want to see it happen in every single region. If it's Wofford fine, then put your energy behind them. But then I better see Virginia, you know, or Duke or whoever else is in the other Gonzaga in the next one are UNC. I wanna see top teams when it comes to the end. Sorry. I do I do to one Cinderella team. That's it. I agree with I agree with you. Rachel, I think I would say like what's good for the sport? Tv ratings is a good way to capture that. Because it's what are people most interested in what are the captivating story lines? And I gotta go back and look, but I remember being underwhelmed about the idea. That Loyola Chicago is planning on that stage. Great story, you know, who their biggest star was fully Alicia Kogyo the person we would want it to the most. It was the none the ninety none. Who is sitting on the sideline we didn't care about? I don't remember the name of their coach. I have to be honest, and I can't name you one player on the team. But I will remember sister Jean forever. So I think the upsets like UC Irvine we talked to their coach Russell Turner earlier in the show. I think those are good early in the tournament. And I think late in the tournament. We wanna see North Carolina Kentucky Duke Zion Taylor to me Murray states a little different because they have a brand named star player this year that puts them up on that level. So I'd be fine with John Mirant making it to the final four. But if John rent were to get hurt, I think the interest level immediately in them, and that story line would dwindle. So I'm going to debunk this television ratings because the two thousand sixteen NC double a final four with Syracuse earth. Carolina Villanova Oklahoma that was less than the two thousand eighteen final four with Illinois, Chicago and sister, Jane, but who were the other teams in the final four that year. And what were the markets? Villanova juice gave you Syracuse North Carolina Villanova in Oklahoma. Told me that having have. No, no, no. No, the theory was that one Cinderella team can make it. That's what I said. I I said I don't wanna see four of them. Well, you'll never see four of them. But the reality is Syracuse, North Carolina Villanova three very strong basketball, London schools. And that was less television. Rated then two thousand eighteen with universal source. I don't like your family. Up next. We catch up with trae mount waters, the hero from LSU. It's GTL ESPN radio the ESPN app..

"At Wofford they've only been playing hoops since nineteen Ninety-seven just earned their first ever NC double A tournament when Thursday night against Seton Hall. Mike young says his squad is legit. I can't imagine a team more confident. And that's earned. We haven't lost since December nineteenth. Before losses. They're all playing in the NCAA tournament this weekend trip to the big dance for the terriers by far the best they've ever had led by their long range shooting prowess, especially from senior Fletcher McGee who just became division ones. All time leader in career three point field goals, and they will face a Wildcats team still missing sophomore forward and leading score PJ Washington. The six other games much later on we'll go site by site Michigan against Florida in Des Moines at five fifteen eastern, followed by Michigan state of Minnesota in Salt Lake City, got top seed, Gonzaga taking on Baylor at seven ten eastern outta be followed by Kansas and Auburn and in Hartford John Moran and Murray state going for another upset this time against four seat. And they don't bother me. Yeah. I mean, I went and did fury three to five or five to five four three two one. Whatever it's called the one. That's got the big drop that's on YouTube. You know, and I did scream like a girl. But this one I wasn't interested in it. Because it doesn't have any drops. And it's just going up side down several times. And I'm so it wasn't that thrill. Yeah. Didn't sound like I like bike by youngest kid is now twenty three so I don't have to do this anymore. The interim grandchildren's grandchildren shattered iron not likely go. Hey, let's go to Caroline's today and just go ride roller coaster at that age where my grandkids are at the age. I like they just want to do the Scooby doo coasters. I'm like, yeah, I'm cool. You're back with that route. Yeah. Although I will say the nearest I got stick to gay gonna ride which I've never gotten sick was in like what I would call kiddy land real teacup thing that went in circles, or whatever. You don't talk about. No way. But within the spitting there's another spinning going on. And I'm like going really, this is the one time I would get sick on a ride is in kiddy land on a teacup was the closest I ever came to sit down like fifteen minutes. It was like eight hundred ninety eight degrees or something. Sit here for just a little bit. Yeah. Oh, I've been on the teacups. I knew exactly. All right. Well, March madness so Wofford won. Remarkable. Well, you know, what it isn't it isn't because they were the favorite team. There were seven CW ten seats. Seton hall. Yeah. Based on what you would think Wofford in history that they've never won an NCAA tournament game only their fifth ever tournament game that they played in and a win by plenty eighty four sixty nine eight hundred sixty eight and they they've got this kid Fletcher McGee who became the NCW all-time three-point leader in his career. Is you have five hundred ninety scored twenty four points last night. We'll play Kentucky tomorrow. Maybe Kentucky delve shocked the world that'll be really doing something. They can things like that happen. That's you know, we laugh, but Wofford is very good. They got a great coach and Mike young. They've now said one Twenty-one zero other ranked nineteenth in the nation. The real deal. Our general manager apparently was pulling for Seton Hall. Did he's go the I don't know. His brother did a St. a bronze statues a sculptor. Okay. I don't know if that was the only connection or if he actually went to school there. So he was not happy that Seton. Now, he sent out an Email the other day, it was making fun of the terrier did a retraction last night after the game. Yeah. Because Mary McDonald from our staff went to offered and and she won. So I was thinking for her. It's like that can be career limiting it's like she should be holy four. Seton hall. I was gonna say secretly inside. Of course. Not. But today is not a good day to be asking for a raise. I would think. Of course around here. No, no day is a good data as her as appointing and trash-talking GM's office, probably the best move. All right. So what's coming up tonight? We need to watch for we've got well right here on the Bill blow torch. We got North Carolina Iona at nine twenty tip time. Not sure exactly when the pre is that. So I guess we're saying I own a standard dogs chance. Really things happen forget well last year, Maryland Baltimore County beat Virginia which was a sixteen seat in one. I do play seven ten tonight against North Dakota state. Another one is sixteen game Virginia the team that lost the only team has ever lost as one to a sixteen. Plays Gardner Webb this afternoon at three twenty. And I know we have a lot of Virginia Tech fans around here. They play at the very last game tonight the Klay Saint Louis at ten o'clock tonight. Oh, wow. Late to sixteen games today. But that's four of interest or any of that brigade is eight thirty tonight, eight thirty okay. Did you do a bracket? I did. I got it wasn't hard. Because there weren't a upsets yesterday. So I got fourteen out of sixteen so far you're doing good. All right..

"Are you going back and setting up defense pick up your pressure? That's what got you back in the basketball game. It's a dead ball situation. Get your pressure set running job. That's what got you in the game. Now, they're starting to do that. Now, the inbound goes to storm Murphy two fifty to play burpee covered by McKnight, what on one trying to get to the time line. And he does with two seconds to spare. Mercy to the free throw line for Jackson Jackson right side of the lane off the glass. Good and the rebound by Walker mcgee's or Hoover thought about a three. Instead takes a ten foot. Jumper for the baseline. He's fouled by Enzi. Was it a good shot? It really wasn't understanding time score wasn't a great shot. The pump fake gets those shop lockers closing hard on the basketball because of the way they've been able to knock down shots that has four fouls on Enzi Hoover to the line. Hoover is to for two three for three as crisply went through the net. It's seventy seven sixty six. It was a sixteen point lead. Seton all then took the lead. And now this Ron has made it to eleven Hoover thought the shot was off. But a went and it didn't even hit the rim. What do you think? That's because he yelled Lebano, Ron. Miles Powell to McKnight McKnight looks left. Towel open. He does. Step back. Jumper into two. It's no good NC battling for the loose ball out of bounds. It'll be Seton Hall basketball. Seton hall. Mas pal have to be careful to settle for tough fadeaway shots. You can still get opportunities going to the rim. They're gonna commit to his jump shots. Vase bell may have the best opportunity to get to the basket. Mcknight will inbound now back the big night. Back to Powell Powell left baseline store. The basket throws it up. No, good rebound off the glass. No good loose ball pinball. You're out Jackson gets the rebound. At Wofford with one fifty five to play. Mcgee for great intake it. Oh my gosh instead himself, but he was standing about two feet from us. Gets down to Murphy now to Jackson Jackson underneath the glass. It's eighty two sixty six Wofford, I think they're starting to celebrate in their minds the Wofford fans, they've never won an NCAA game. How night for three right corner. No good rebound by Jackson. Not said a bounce by Murphy. And actually, I think they're going to say it's Wofford ball. It's going to be Wofford basketball, Ken Johnson's not getting enough of this. That's it for pal. Bowels gonna go out one three to play a hug heaven Willard. That may be it for miles Powell. He's just a junior.
Deep Dive into March Madness
"To this point. We've got Abilene Christian beating Kentucky. We have seen the whole over walford. And we have Georgia state over Houston. All upsets is it your belief that any of those could actually happen. I would say you might as well just go and put money on those because if any of those hit you guys are going to be rich your need. The giants sponsor the show. So. Look, I think I don't know you say you had Wofford or seeing hall winning that game. We have Seton Hall. Seton Hall is winning that game. Yeah. Like, I think that's one that could realistically happen. I will say that while you know, me the supposed- expert isn't picking Georgia's state like I don't think it's inconceivable that they win that game. They they have no probably have the best player on the floor. They have a kid named DeMarcus Simmons who's going to play in the NBA at some point. He he actually he averaged eighteen a game this year and his numbers are actually down a little bit. So I don't know that I would be the guy to pick Abilene Christian over to Turkey. If that's where the darts are going. I do think you're right. Yeah. The the dogs are feeling it and might be by the way, we should tell everyone that you're biased can you? Tell everyone the name of your book. Please. Oh, yeah. No. I had a book about Kentucky basketball. You know, what I was gonna say to you was is that when you say nobody knows what they're doing. So I I said this on another radio interview this morning is there's a reason that they offer a billion dollars for a perfect bracket every year, and nobody wins it. So I think that as much as I'd like to say that the hours and days, I've spent in front of the TV and talking to coaches and talking to you know, is that it's all worthwhile. When I fill out the bracket. I don't know that throwing darts at a wall isn't just a better option than what I've been doing. Thank you very much. Would you like to be with us right now as we select a couple more games? Yes. Okay. I tell me what you think real quick just give me like fifteen seconds or less on Ohio State versus Iowa State. So I always state they got three or four pros on that team. They could legit make the Sweet Sixteen or elite. I wanna be surprised they could legit lose to Ohio State. And I would it be spread. Okay. So if you wouldn't be surprised by anything. This is a a pressure free throw that I'm about to make Ohio states the eleven I was states the six so rat is Ohio State Brown will be Iowa State. Here we go. We got read. Again, we got nothing but upset so Ohio State is going to defeat. I was day. But you don't think that's crazy. I don't think it's crazy. So state hit Ohio State. Yeah. We've got nothing. We've take four games so far. It's all upsets, I don't know why I'm hitting hitting all here on the board. There you go out to Vegas. It all read their. Let's you know. So no, I don't I don't think that's insane. At all. I mean, Ohio State plays in the big ten. They laid great teams all year. They've been good teams Iowa State again. These are the facts that are going to be meaningless when my bracket blows up, but they lost five out of their last six games in the regular season. They got hot in the last week. I don't think it's insane. At all that Ohio State would pull that upset. Okay. Let's do one more Jimmy ten seconds on Kansas versus northeastern. Kansas. I'll say this hits read I won't be surprised really was Kansas was a biz mole on the road this year. So they had a couple injuries. A couple of suspensions. You know, one guy's not playing, you know, guardian took some money and got caught by the FBI. And so they went like one in seven away from home in their last eight games. So it waiting their last eight games away from home. So it would not surprise me. If on a neutral court, they got upset I'd hear it goes, Kansas versus northeastern. Okay, Kansas is going to survive Kansas is going to win round one. So we do have our first favorite of the first round. And will be Kansas defeating northeastern very exciting stuff. I'm I'm glad that you're you're right in the middle here, though that you're you're becoming one of us us us. Every man college basketball fans were just like, yeah. I'd this could go either way. I'm glad you're saying that right now. Well, I remember a few years ago. First of all my bracket is always the worst one. And everyone's like, what are your picks? And I'm like, you don't really want my picks. But I remember, you know, I was talking with our buddy Colin cowherd three years ago. And he said do you get mad when everybody else that doesn't watch like me has a better bracket than you? And I said, you know, Colin, I'm a lot like Bill Belichick. I just focus on myself. I don't worry about the outside noise. What it does drive me a little bananas that all these all these men hours. I put loving the sport. And it's all for nothing come March. I wanna ask you this. This is a conversation that was happening here at the office about an hour ago. Which is the best college basketball team in the state of California this year. Oh, man. I feel like I had this conversation. It's obviously not USC. It's not. I'm trying to think, you know, I think it might be UCLA by down. And there's only there's just a letter listeners. All there's only two teams from the entire state of California in this bracket at its UC Irvine, it probably should have been without a major upset. It would have only been one. It's UC Irvine in Saint Mary's that's wild that's wild. I think Saint Mary's would probably went on a neutral court, but I'll tell you what Irvine is one if the dark skew towards Irvine that would not surprise me at all like, I know you said a minute ago. Nobody knows these head coaches follow, blah, all I'm saying is as cow is abysmal in the Pac twelve Russell Turner. Who's the head coach at UC Irvine? They could be they could do themselves a favor to give him a call, by the way, he coached at Stanford. He was in assistant with the Golden State Warriors. He knows the bay area that guy can coaches, you know, what off I don't know that he'd be a great interview for your show. You just want more entertaining. College basketball. You should have your. Your buddies over Cal get him a call. Hey, while we're on it. What are we doing here with with Pac twelve sports? What's what's what's happening right now? So as anti Pac twelve is anybody as everybody because I think the bottom line is we had the worst combined year ever since they've been recording numbers in wins and losses for Zona and UCLA in the same season. We gotta season where one's been bad. We've had a season where another has been bad. But we've never had a season where they're collectively as bad. And so what I always say is, you know, we would be talking about how bad the ACC was if Duke in North Carolina had historically their worst seasons combined ever the big twelve. Did it feel a sexy this year because Kansas wasn't good? And I just think look Arizona. They have the number one or three class coming in. They're going to get right? But if errors Zona was just what they've been in UCLA was just what they've been all of a sudden, you add two more top twenty five teams in you. Then potentially have five bitch the NCAA tournament. Nobody feels bad now with that said, I can't really speak for football, which is a total mess, but basketball, I think it's cyclical I think they'll be fine. I see that you said getting back to the brackets the Tennessee and Michigan state where the two teams that got screwed. Why why do you think that? So two different reasons. I think in general nobody really has a big gripe. But Mark, you know, for people who don't follow this stuff three hundred sixty five days a year in the past the committee has kind of made this big stink about we do wanna keep teams close to home because you know, we don't want these student athletes to travel, whatever buffalo, blah. I know where you stand on all that. But they always have given preferential treatment to the higher seeded teams. It's a very simple concept you bust your butt. You're awesome all year, you shouldn't have to play in somebody's backyard in so Tennessee could potentially in round to have to play Cincinnati in Columbus, Ohio, which is only about an hour from Cincinnati. I just think that's totally unfair for a team. That's done. You know, they they've been awesome. And it could come down to their basically playing a true road game in the NCAA tournament, you know, after six months of hard work. I just think that's kinda nonsense and then when Michigan state. You know, it's the deal of the committee considered them one of the quote unquote, best number two seeds. So then why are they lined up with the best number one seed, and do it makes absolutely no sense to me. Yeah. That's interesting. All right. Gimme gimme the dark horse that could make some noise who's wearing Cinderella. This year. Well, I'll tell you. I know I know you have a primarily NBA audience Murray state with John Mirant got to be a lottery pick that kid is unbelievable. He average twenty four games scoring led the nation in this. I think he is every bit the real deal. And if you told me he put his team on his back. I'll Steph curry wins to three games basically by himself. It wouldn't surprise me kid is just out of this world. I think whether you follow college basketball, whether you're following the darts. That's a kid to watch out for because he's

"Tournament for the first time since two thousand fifteen the Wofford terriers are a force to be reckoned with right now as they reeled off twenty straight games. And we're delighted to be joined now by Wofford basketball. Coach Mike young coach, congratulations on the southern conference championship. We had one of my favorite sayings in sports on the way in when Seth Greenberg says this team is built to win because yet to meet a team that was built to lose. But that's a separate suffered the distinction, but congratulations on getting back to the big dance. Thank you very much. We are around recited down here Carolina's absolutely coaching for you. I mean, it's the fifth time now that you lead Wofford to the NC double A tournament. So what's different? And unique about this year's team. What's made it a special Ron, I'm sure each one of those times is unique in its own right here is I think what's different about this one. Several really good teams. Compare sales people, but we're six hundred sixty frontline and. Very good rebounding team and. Match better with everybody that we play you can. Eurospace perimeter. With a lotta guys if you shoot the ball. Big guy in the post that can catch. It components school. A lot of people that makes you really really tricky to to say. And that's what I have here. Twenty three. This league unblemished twenty one. Eighteen regular season games. Three here in the tournament. Is is pretty special certainly as an you should know. One of your famous Wofford grads, Wendi nix. Who does a great job for us on the NFL front is waving the Wofford terriers flag as much as she can. She is carrying that banner for your coach right now. But you mentioned a twenty twenty one zero in the conference twenty straight wins second only to Gonzaga that has to be one of the more remarkable things going forward as a coach to keep a team rested ready and hungry when they expect to win every single night. That is yet to. Here. A really register with me when Mike I mean, you know, I mean, it just takes one night one night where you're not you're not on top of your game. You don't shoot. Well. Somebody's sick. Severi rolled ankle yesterday in practice. There's so many things that go into winning. It's this level. To to rattle off that many in a row. This was the best year that I can recall the Southern Cal for spring, and I've been a part of it for a long time back with Davidson college Allston number of traditionally really, really Saul. Great schools than really good basketball programs to do it. You know, just for more for really up amazing accomplished with talking to offer men's basketball coach Mike young on the shell Pennzoil performance line. Jolan already currently has them as a seven seat right now their fifth NC double A tournament. Overall, the first since two thousand fifteen coach every you're going into the tournament. I always get cited about the stars that we see from some of the as you put it non power five schools. Maybe we don't see quite as much. You've got a guy in Fletcher McGhee who's been absolutely dynamite was the southern conference tournament MVP has been great for you guys for so long maybe for people that are going to be just getting to know Fletcher. Now, what makes this guy so special for your team? I've had a bunch of workers. I've never been around a guy that shoots like like he does. Great coach at Michigan calls them runaway shooters. Lou. Screen for him. And he can be sprinting away from the basket hundred miles an hour. And he can catch the ball and Turner year thing go and get it. Get it down got bigger Staller. Very good. I ask sleet. Here's been incredible player for us. And I will look forward to coaching here and been coaching the team in his Fletcher's. First term it, you know, while during your time at Wofford Wofford basketball, coach Mike young joining us on the shell Pennzoil performance line. Again ran through the conference twenty game winning streak heading into the NCAA tournament as we said this is your fifth trip to the tournament enforce. So you've been there before. But what would it mean for this team to finally registered that first NC double A tournament win? Should it happen? World, you know, more. We are for. It's hard. It's heck linen. That things are gonna play on the sixty eighth grade teams sixty it really good teams. You know, we've played Wisconsin and Bill Ryan and Jennifer debt BYU Michigan. We were fifteen she played the two seat with the team that advanced to the final game four. And then I look was Arkansas in two thousand fifteen when we were twelve we think we'll have a very good seed, which certainly improves your. Your chances of winning. But you know, we're going to play somebody really really good. It'll be a difficult game for us to win. But. I've got a heck of a team, and I will. Begin to tell you how excited I am to to to get there. And. Chance to. Well, listen, I I can think of twenty teams that have played you in a row and say, yeah, they would probably agree with you that you have a pretty good team again twenty one conference play a twenty game winning streak heading into the NCAA tournament. Wendi nix is blowing up my phone right now. That's getting so much offered LA. But we can't we can't get enough at that is just great coach. We appreciate you being with us. Congratulations. Maybe this is the year. We get that first NC double A tournament win. Thanks for having me on. I wish you well. Thank you so much. Thanks, very cool. I love this time of year. Well, we have corner mosier and loyal last year. We sort of adopted them on the show. It's always fun to see these guys get into the tournament. And then make these surprising. I thought Fletcher McGee a guy who had been player for them for so long mentioned getting his first tournament appearance. And we know this is part of what we always talk about college basketball has this incredible stage that can elevate these stories that can elevate the sister genes that can elevate some of these schools that we don't see all the time on TV all the time with as much exposure as the power five teams again and Mike young being there from Wofford is brought to us by Wendy's proud sponsor of the twenty thousand nineteen John r wooden player of the year. So I would imagine if Wofford does get a seven seed and gets that first NCWA tournament win Wofford in the Mike Mike young in the Wofford players will be very excited, and it'll be on television. And you'd probably be able to read their lips they'd be very excited about the things that were coming out of their mouths, but be careful when you go down that lip-reading fame because. Sometimes what you think you heard or saw isn't exactly what you heard or saw. And we'll have someone explain that. In a very interesting way. Mike, we'll get to that in a minute. We'll get some straight talk. Brought to you by straight talk wireless picture. This your favorite team is playing. You're streaming the game. There's ten seconds left your team shoots and. Oh, God your data runs out. Don't let that happen. Whatever you do do not.

"They don't win that. When you get Wofford and east, Tennessee State and second game, look east, Tennessee State almost beat than home. Probably should've beaten offered at home. This is an eastern innoc- state team has been very good every year Forbes is really good coach very high on of the coach. I think that they certainly could be Wofford, and it would not be surprising to me. I think you know fact that they have a week five seat. They're a game that they should easily easily win and their first game helps quite a bit. Because you know, if they don't play too good. I can probably still seek out a win. Get ready for walford Wofford. You know is a team that like you said there eighteen to know that they have quite a few close calls here in this conference. I don't think they're, you know, head and shoulders above everybody else as much as what some people think they may be and east. Tennessee State is a very dangerous team that the reason I like eastern Sinise state as a team that could be offered to they're the one team that can hang with uaw-ford when it comes to the glass, they're very good on the boards. They're actually better than offered rebounding. And and that's certainly a big positive because if you're getting beat up on the glass, and that team is very good. Your opponent is very good shooting three pointers as Wofford is then it's really hard to keep up, you know, because they're bang threes from from way downtown and then you've got them getting their off into rebound clearing every defense at board east. Tennessee State doesn't have that problem. They're very good on the glass or good defensive teams. I think he's gonna see states very tough. Matchup for them in that second game. Well, one of the reasons why we talk about the money line rollover is a situation like this east. Tennessee State is plus four hundred to win this conference tournament. And as you and I were talking earlier on off the air. You look at this game against Wofford this potential game.

"And it looks like underdogs have done better here in the last couple of years, then what they did before. So, you know, the the underdog statistics that I gave you before or not really strong. But recently they've done pretty well. And I think that makes sense based on I, you know, as we look at the landscape of 'em is right now. All right. So let's get into some game breakdown sear, and we'll go ahead and start actually on Thursday nights. I know we will look ahead to some weekend games here. But will also take a look at the Thursday night card game down in the so Conwy recently talked about the so con in one of our conference breakdowns. I think that was maybe it was either last Friday or last Monday, one of the two about Wofford and east. Tennessee State is the game that you have your eye on for Thursday night. I was hoping you were gonna ask me you weren't gonna ask me when we talked about that. I really I really don't know. It's all kind of going together but Wofford in east Tennessee State Wofford is undefeated in the conference so far this year. They're the best team in the league. But I don't know that they're that much better than east Tennessee, I'm carrying this line will be we'll Wofford favorite here on the road. I'm not sure they will be. I see Ken palm has them projected to win. That's when by point. I think if I had to take his side here like an state, you couldn't see states that good team as far as defensively, they think create some turnover there good on the glass or a member of talking about that. When we spoke about them in this conference walford very reliant on the point. I mean, they're very good at it. They should forty point eight percent in the conference shooting. Forty three point one percent from three point range, so very very good shooting team. But I mean, this is a team. Team and east Tennessee State. That's very good defensively. Very well coached, you know, I think that this could be a spot where Wofford gets tripped up. You know, it wouldn't surprise me at all. I mean clearly Wofford's in offense of juggernaut. But you know, they're up against a really good defense here. It's important to point out that these two teams split the series last year and each team warm on the road. So those teams have proven they can win on the road, you know, Wofford's better than they were last year there quite a bit better than they were last few mainly because their defense improved a lot some last season. He's Tennessee day to team that is also somewhat better this year than they were year ago primarily because you know, they're rebounding really really well and they're a little bit better on offense. And they were last season. I as I said before I really think east Tennessee coaches underrated done a very good job every year replacing quite a bit to me. This is one of those spots where Wofford. Word comes in here undefeated in the league, they're gonna lose at some point in this league. I'd be really surprised if they don't this looks like a spot that that could be there. When you look when these teams last played they played on December first longtime ago, very very early start to conference play. Then. In fact, these seems got back into the non-conference portion of the season right after that Wofford won that game seventy nine to sixty two. They did win that game at home and also frees Tennessee State that game gave up one point one six seven points per possession their worst defensive effort of the season. So maybe they do button it up here a little bit in this particular spot. But as you mentioned for Wofford, and this is something you can look at with UNC Greensboro here in this conference as well. I don't think Wofford's really been tested on the road. I mean, they did blow out Greensboro for Greensboro only loss, but Greensboro, I think by all accounts is kind of a smoke and mirrors team in this conference right now. You know? I mean, I've Greensburg record and league better than what they are. I don't think there are bad team. But but yeah, I mean, this is going to be the toughest or Wofford profit road game yet. And you know, you couldn't say doesn't exactly come into this game in any kind of bad spot..
