"I'm sorry to me. The lacrosse players shouldn't get paid now. I if a lacrosse players good enough as some local car dealership or something money. But i'm not this is not this is a capitalistic society. I and and you go to college and you learn what you can do how to make your way in a capitalistic society. And so if jt daniels is the one that's the superstar and his talent affords him the opportunity to get this endorsement deal. He should get the money. Not the the wrestler the woman softball player. Not not the not the basketball player. If he's not getting offered to deal issue goto that guy. I this is. They're trying to soften it by saying we're gonna give it to all the athletes no rob. My argument about players. Being paid is that they generate so much money right. I don't think we. I should have got paid. We weren't generating any money in division three. You weren't buying tickets. And so i don't i wasn't about it's not about. They should just get paid. It's about in the sports football and basketball. Mainly they are on so much money that it is. It is robbery for them not to get paid other. Sports is legitimately an extracurricular activity for a lot of these other division. One sports and we talked about it before right. Didn't we talk about like the basketball march madness. Cbs the deal with tbs and turner. Whatever right six jillion dollars revise six million to be exact really six billion and is nothing and there's nothing for them right. That's that's it. That is what is wrong. And i'm sorry if the women's basketball team in generating what demands is it is what it is. It's the same reason. Rob that the nba superstars get paid more than the wnba when the wnba starts generating that kind of money. We'll talk life. This is life time we make colin cowherd is making no it's life it's supply and demand even know pretty soon you know maybe little closer lily note that was scott on the yellow. No i'm with you. I i liked the idea but this again is misguided and it misses the mark misses the mark. And if i'm a player. I'm not agreeing to seventy five percent. I just that debt. Seems like a huge number that you mean to me. I just said signed a deal with somebody chris for them to do a documentary on my life and walk around with me right. And they're gonna pay me ten million dollars from my one year at georgia tech that's-that's what dot com get the school's seven and a half million. Exactly come on. That is ridiculous. I mean who in the world came up with that. I'm serious. that is horrible. That's horrible and i don't think going to work rob because i mean unless the federal government does the same thing but that that is just that to me. That's a slap in the face to the student and i get it. They're gonna try to argue. Hey but we're giving it to all the students. It shouldn't work that.

Check a to to show talk. Shall we talk basketball. Let's let's let's turn this into the sports podcast that but yes if you enter this into a sports podcast. We're immediately going to get the explicit label. Because i'm going to start cursing and talking about boobs. I'm telling you when when when rodman started talking trash about larry bird you know that bird is just not going to deal with and that's the wrong attitude before a home game of all things home game against the pistons. I mean you know that he was gonna run up some serious numbers. And that's that's all i can. That's the only sports wrap that. I knew how to say the fact that it's a boston related and be related to when the celtics were like a dominant species in boston but nba is pretty cool too. And they've just entered into a multi year partnership with google a couple of very very proud press releases on both sides Google is joined companies such as nike at. At and t. As part of w nba's change makers platform that they established last year Change makers encourages deep pocket companies to support women's professional athletics specifically the wnba deep-pocketed deep-pocketed. Yes which is which is ironic considering that one of the unfair treatment of a women and the country's really shallow give us pockets. Damn it just so just a going over the highlights your according to the wnba press. Release the multi. There are a lot of bits to this multi year. Commitment means that google is committing to helping women's basketball and sports by developing innovative marketing activation. You can tell. I'm quoting a press release here. I don't know what innovative marketing activation means robot. Despite the way in case your mehta out for you robust storytelling and enhanced google product experiences. There are also contributing. OL Reign Land Bouhaddi and Marozsan on Loan From Sister Club Lyon

"The day we record this oil grain decided. They wanted to kick off the week with a bit of of a blast. Bit some fireworks to pretty awesome acquisitions or at least on loan acquisitions for the club which may not affect the challenge cup but will definitely affect the incoming year for oil rain I'll get over to you to give us some of the download on that okay. So this was big news. When leon got the ownership of of the rain we wondered what the implications of this would be is assistant vestments are. They're going to be recruiting opportunities. More money into the club. What is really look like right. As as of the day were recording. We saw some big news. That two of leone's players sarah body and a jennifer marijan are going to be playing for oil rain over the summer as soon as the season wraps up. This doesn't necessarily impact the challenge cup. But these are two of the best players in the world. Budi especially. I mean i would argue the best goalkeeper in the world This is huge for the rain. In the off season we saw some rain. Players go over to france and train with with leones team which was a huge benefit to them. But now we're seeing this as as this mutual partnership is talent sharing situation so not only. Are we seeing financial investment. Were seeing now. Some of the best players in the world coming to the nwa sell like we talked about this before. Steve about A lot of the american players. Like sam you is abigail. Kemper rose lavelle going overseas and leaving the nwf. But now we're seeing kind of the inverse happening. Yeah i think this is huge news. The Unrelenting Force of Dawn Staley

"So josh. He recently had a long conversation with basketball. Legend dawn. staley. I for those who might be less familiar with her career and background. Can you give us a quick snapshot of just what this woman has accomplished. Well i don't know if i can do it quickly. It's a long list. She was a two time. Ncwa player of the year. At virginia she went on to be named one of the wnba. Top fifteen players of all time daily off screen getting that bit rates jabber every time. She comes down with a line drive. She has a board time olympia and as the player time overall including her coaching career. Staley underneath will sell it. Twenty three game winning streak for the united states. She went directly into head. Coaching style was never an assistant coach. Her first job was the head coach at temple and she came to south carolina following a fairly long career temple and has taken south carolina from okay program to a national championship in two thousand seventeen. South carolina spectacular. Performance chappie you dug pretty deep into you. Don staley's background her early background. Can you tell us about her early days and her family growing up well. She grew up one a big family lot five kids. The matriarch of the family was estelle salia housekeeper. They grew up in a housing project in north philadelphia. Not easy but still staley was a disciplinarian in her daughter's words and everybody knows my mother. She's a headstrong woman. She's deceased now but she was known for her straight took. No nonsense backed down from nobody. You did not take her parking spot at the mall without a fight etc and down has carried that onto a much larger stage so just a very tight family and still somebody who's very much shaped by her mother and be the course of north philadelphia where she played against boys for most of her childhood and became not just very good but very tough. The neighborhood i grew up in you had to make sure that you had a reputation as being strong then back now from anybody was able to handle anything that was throwing your way and that has prepared me for any curve balls. Life can throw me north philly. Tough was the word her brother used. And they don't throw that around lightly a connection between the way she was raised where she grew up and the kind of basketball coach that she's become a where she was raised in where she grew up has affected every part of her. She is not a person who on some days. It's easy to play for our imagine especially early in her tenure at south carolina there were players who left the program high profile players. Who left the program. I would think don stay. They would tell you. She may not be for everybody because she is not going to suffer any foolishness. She will defend those players outside the program to the end of the earth. But that doesn't mean that she's going to give them an inch when they're in her. Jim staley has also become one of the more outspoken coaches and all of college basketball and josh recently wrote that quote staley. Mary's attributes that many have decided are incompatible. What did you mean by that. Well she's just fascinating to me because she is a black woman in the state of south carolina who has been pretty clear that she's not donald trump supporter. This is a state that voted for donald trump. So she's really walking a fine line there when she's got a lot of fans in a red state and she's pretty blue person but she's also shares a very strong christian faith with most south carolinians. She has been outspoken about police. Brutality inequality in the policing system at the same time. She's a special deputy at the rich county sheriff's office. She regularly rides armed with rich. County sheriff's deputies on their patrols. I do think that's relatable the coaches like some of the things that they do the de-escalate or tactics they use is relatable to deal with every day. Leon lot longtime sheriff of richland county said to me. If she wasn't a basketball coach she'd be a cop. She's just got that demeanor. Help people i mean. And that's what law enforcement should be about is about helping people and she wants to know people. She has a gift to gab. She can talk. Do you have to have good communications. Feel today law enforcement officer. She has that so you can't put her in a box and that's fascinating to me. How do you think she navigates. Straddling all of those worlds. She said to me that she is not stressed. I can't be anybody but me but at the same time you know. Most people here at south carolina in south carolina. Accept me for who. I am and i'm good with that and i'm good the ones that don't but i don't think there's a grand plan. I don't think she has an outline. I think she takes every interaction every moment and she deals with it very reflexively face what you could teach me something you can over me up to see things a little bit differently then. She's not a person who will not listen to somebody who has a different opinion. She says she craves hearing those different opinions. As long as the conversations can be respectful and stay within certain bounds. She wants that to happen. I can foresee a day where dawn staley is sitting in the middle of colonial life. Arena in the court at a podium and just taking questions from tons of people in the audience. Who don't agree with her on anything politically or socially. I think she would love that. I think she wants that stuff. But i don't think this is part of a bigger plan. I think she just deal with it from her. Core and then goes to the next day. Does the same

"Professional women's basketball team with a new look on or off the court. More from Cuomo's bill's words. There was a storm atop the space needle this afternoon in Seattle Storm flag raised featuring the first logo change for the WN BA team in 20 years. The defending champs roster will also have a new look in 2021. Kelly Loeffler sells stake in WNBA team after clashing with players over Black Lives Matter

"We have exciting news in the wnba. That kelly lafler has exited the building. Bob bub-bubba i feel like we should have celebration. Music will and even better a you. Part of that ownership new ownership group includes montgomery has an actual wnba player. And you know who has a podcast in who is a somebody who's been a real voice on issues equity all summer and beyond you know well into the past tradition in a history of ad. I think that's important because it means that the the voice of anti black lives matter is now being replaced by someone who can fully embody the spirit and direction of the wnba. I could not agree more and the power that the wnba has had. I mean we talk about when we talk about you know leading the movement. The black lives matter movement. We talk so often about the nfl or the nba. But really the wnba. And we've said this before. I mean they started this movement. Back in twenty fifteen in the sports world and You know they basically made raphael warnock. Who's now a us. Senator a player in this when they all wore those warnock shirts i think at that point he was voting. Nine percents Who pulling at nine voting. He was polling at nine percent And he wound up winning. And i think that the power that these women have in the way that they have used their platform for good and for inclusion and equity and making the world. A better place is something. That is such a tonic. To see it what we've gone through the past four years so i i'm thrilled to see it. I'm glad kelly law is out of the wnba. Imagine playing for someone who denies that your skin color that you as a human being matter. I mean she you know she tried to parse it a little bit more subtly than that she was talking about she would talk about the black lives matter organization as opposed to the concept of black lives mattering and i think she did that deliberately so that she could say things like i mean she said some really you know i i would say pretty crazy or just you know in such bad faith things such as that black lives matter doesn't want jesus in the church in you know that's just the tip of the iceberg and it just is so deeply offensive to people who are deeply committed attack but what i love about the wnba an and the way that they inserted themselves into those georgia senate races is that you now have a group of predominantly black women who are somewhat responsible for having a black vice president have to go into the senate to break a tie yet and that is i mean i just. I love the way that that is an expression of power but this is not over in georgia is already passing some legislation to make it more difficult to vote did particularly pinpoint Practices that black communities have used to get out the vote like souls to the polls closing the ability of pulse be open on sundays in the future and kelly law flir is not exiting from politics. She is actually spearheading some of those georgia movements to make voting more difficult for community of Communities of color. And so i you know this is. This is going to be interesting because it's you know this is not the credit should not be rolling here. This is still a very a live issue for georgia and for the rest of the

"I former player to be parked a wnba ownership group. She just retired weeks ago. She took off last year for social justice concerns but she was a store poor disfranchised. Kelly left first time as an nba owner. By the way over. Sarah what has renamed montgomery done. This is so fantastic. She is favourite on spain and fitz and she came on throughout the pandemic throughout the wobble. And now she retires. It becomes the first one player to be not only an ownership on an executive. We are seeing the changing face of ownership and women's sports across the nwa l. and now the wnba and the key is not just the decision making the way it can help. Change the practices that we're so used to but it's also changing diversity in pro sports at the very highest level of where it can trickle down from there in terms of hirings in terms of changing the practices in terms of investment. So that women's sports are invested in by the very people that know them best. This is massive and she is the perfect person for this as a voice word as speaker as a player and as a business person. This is huge. And i hope it opens up other professional franchises. Not just in women's sports to understand the power of diversity at the

"China's great to have you back on the show. It is always wonderful to be with you. Pablo thanks for having me. China robinson hosts the around the rim podcast and serves as a basketball analyst and calls games for espn. So you are an busy person. The china you just came off calling a game like minutes ago. Described to me what your life is like in this new kind of era of broadcasting. How's it going pablo. I can pretty much that up about three words in the house. That is where. I spend a majority of my time these days. I'm in the house calling games watching film and that's pretty much my wife right now. I come to you the china from a bunk bed inside an airbnb. So i feel all of your pain and i wanna get into women's basketball with the of course and we'll get to the professionals and a little bit but i want to start by asking you about the really the single biggest name that's been dominating the college game pretty much all year as a freshman and that is page bekker's with percents. How would you begin to describe page. Bekker's for someone who's unfamiliar with what she's been up to it yukon Well pablo the word coming out of stores was that page. Bekker's was going to be the next coming of breanna stewart or diana taurasi right. So that's high praise no pressure. Yeah none at all. She was a number one. Overall recruit in the twenty twenty class and her rival in college. Basketball was highly anticipated list. Three beckham's with the rebound put first seconds of her client career where we were literally salivating and watching her highlights from high school wondering if she would be the player to finally get connecticut back to winning championships since keep in mind. They lost in the final. Four in the last three tournaments. Pretty much ever. Since breanna stewart left well pays bekker's is not only a great player. She has six hundred forty nine thousand instagram followers. More uconn legend sue bird by the way when she became the first player in uconn history with three straight thirty point gains. We knew something special was happening and she really hasn't disappointed. I mean her perfect field. Go performance the last five minutes versus number one south carolina that was quite the epic performance bekker's from around the screen and set the stage for what we've been seeing from page so game and her style of play. How would you characterize it. What's made her so dominant as just a freshman making a debut. This impressive at five eleven paid really makes the game easier for everyone else on the court well except her opponents of course.

WNBA players celebrate Warnock's projected win over Loeffler

"Right. Before the insurrection at the capital there was two senate runoff elections that the country had their is on in one of them. The reverend raphael warnock defeated the incumbent. Appointed senator kelly leffler in georgia. Kelly leffler for about ten years has been a partial owner of the atlanta dream of the wnba. She's now the majority owner but she's been around the team for now ten or eleven years and you may have heard her own players and much of the wnba is diametrically opposed to everything that leffler stands force. It was a very interesting situation to see everything develop earlier this week. And then how it works in the team dynamic for more on that. Let's welcome and renee. Montgomery actually a guard for the atlanta dream. She joins us this morning. She's actually rejoining us this morning a second time. She's been on with this. Good morning to you so i guess the first thing i gotta ask you is being a member of the team and understanding everything. That's going on on the floor in off the floor. What's the reaction of you and your teammates to misled losing this election. So i'm just gonna speak for myself and the reaction is. It's not even just her losing. Its rafael worn off. One and i wanna make sure that the messaging stays clear because there's some things that happened on january six is trying to take away from the fact that a black man is going to send it a jewish man from georgia's going to send it and we won the presidential race so i would say for me. It's a sweep. it's a three no sleep. So the the the feeling is happy. Rene speaking of january six. What are your thoughts on everything that occurred that day. Yeah you know. It's kinda like we all felt something was gonna happen. I was worried after november. Third ominously like when when the number started tied and we could see that joe biden. Really my win this thing you know. We all started to get a little nervous even here in georgia the aquarium shutdown coach color. They all boarded up their their buildings because we were all expecting some type of reaction and not a good one so then to see what happened on january six and see the lack of policing that was there it was it was disappointing and most call a spade a spade. It was terrorism. Domestic terrorism is the term that we should use for that renee montgomery innately. Sorry thanksgiving i was going to say what is say about the platform that the wnba has like you guys like even a month before. Colin kaepernick took a knee in two thousand sixteen. The wnba pre-game conference about police brutality. You guys were black. Lives matters t shirts before it was even a thing. Guys always been the leader at the forefront say about the platform that you guys have in the work that you guys have been doing you know. I hope people start to licking because a lot of brands. A lot of sponsors. They don't see the value in in women would say 'cause you know. I think i saw a tweet. From china robinson that said of sponsorship for women athletics how chow especially now knowing the impact that a women's league not just so a player but a whole week and have i don't understand why there's no interest but i do hope that just seeing how things transpired and how everyone to see what's going on. I hope that there is some value added to women now. Renee montgomery of the atlanta dream is joining us. This morning on keyshawn jay williams zubin were presented by progressive. Insurance and rene is with us on the goodyear hotline to robinson by the way. Espn women's college basketball analyst shaina. Yes shoutout. I want to ask you this because people may not want to go back to leffler because i think this is just so fascinating with how clear she's been in how clear you guys have been She used to be for people. That aren't aware that maybe don't follow the dream on everyday basis. She used to be a constant present. at games. a practice you'd be a team functions. He was always be sitting in the front row. She was very active owner. Obviously things have changed when she went to the senate got other responsibilities. I just wonder what your relationship is with her. The team's relationship with her you know even before the senator race i would just fear before the games. We've been to her house. Where team function. But i mean any of the players know you're not usually best friends with owner in general you know you typically would talk more to your g Even when it comes to contracts and stuff so we did see her there and we would wait and she was you know. I know that she released herself. From you. know day to day duties as she became a senator but she was president and the wnba. I know probably the letter was her trying to distance herself. Thing is how she's republican and the wnba. Is you know highly majority. Lgbt in black and brown community. So i can understand why she's trying to distance ourselves but it wasn't the case beforehand. Rene we're kind of personal discussions if any at all have you had. We'll often about social justice nine. I'm you know this was a typical owner-player relationship. So you know. I never talked to my minnesota on her about social justice. And i know that this time is is different but by the time that all of these things try Started to unfold. You know it was already. She was already too far. gone by. then how do you feel now that everything is transpired and she still co owner of the team for me and this is gonna be unpopular to say but for me. I'm sure she's not the only owner. That probably feels the way she feels. And so i hope that the wnba and hope that you know even her you know i. I've already posed the question. I don't know why he would want to own a wnba team. If you have to write a letter to the commissioner opposing. Everything that that team is standing for you know. Our team is the atlanta dream. And i don't know if people know that's from martin. Luther king's dream speech. That's how we got our name so if you oppose everything that we fundamentally stand for. I don't see how you can build a relationship there. I don't know why you'd want to be there

"Pretty much up ended all of our lives before covid nineteen. I got to travel to the perth hills in search of some beautiful flesh-eating beings so it's a warm dry day in calamander national park with bright blue sky above yellow worth crunchy underfoot the yellowish shrub. Whole yes we go. Yes laura and i are looking for something special in the bush it's tiny but shawnee and so it should catch season dawn. These the ninetieth be baltimore. Rare impression. s- potential specimens not. Oh that's a tremendous one. So this is Dresser a guy again tia and it's named because it's pretty giant. He's that's about fifty sixty centimeters high. Yeah and it's like a little mini. trae it is. Yeah like these are. Actually the leaves the plan. Yeah so the the flowers are up the very top here. Just in bad i think at the moment but the leaves are they do look like a flower bill. Little son to me and so it's a little pad that is surrounded by sticky hairs and what you'll notice it on some of them. The sticky has wrapped around into the center and now Can you see the little sort of bug remains in the middle there and then others are out ready to catch something new so hi. My name's lois gates. And i'm a botanist from western australia. And i'm doing my phd on plants but this young botanist has an alter-ego floor escapes. Yes so that's my twitter and instagram. Flora 'cause laura and i'm all about plants so more than that laura aka florus gates is all about plots that ate flesh. We always tend to kind of chris. Plante picked it up these sort of managing monsters aliens from outer space it. It goes out. If got dave the little shop of horrors that sort of thing or a new car and killed but it even goes back much earlier than that. It's not for the greater glory of science. I just want us to survive. Even a botanist said there was the story of a gemini explorer in the madagascan john. Google is it a plant coming across this atrocious cannibal tree central nervous system which had these serpent like branches which captured a woman and coiled. Its branches around and around. There is actually the atrocious kind of betray or if anyone's going to find it maybe that just not come back all that don't usually pull themselves out of the ground chase you. He sees the depiction of this atrocious tree. It looks so much like a dresser in the way that it's those separate like branches the sticky glands dresser and the way that they wrap around and coil around the pool. Woman is the same way that these dresser wrap around the insect pry. But yeah they. They always get painted as these vicious preaches. I do tend to notice that. A lot of the time the victims in these stories Women don't like that aspect. Yeah there's a whole gender story to be talked about here. I think definitely. And i mean often when we talk about verse plants. We often hear about charles. Darwin because dow indeed right the first scientific book all about kind of verse. Plants gave the first scientific evidence that they are actually able to capture and digest insect prey. But there's been a lot of amazing women who have also contributed to converse plant science and our understanding of ecology throughout history and. I'm really interested in their stories as well. And so am i this week. We are in wnba which incredibly is home to up to a third of the world's converse plant species. I wanna find out why that eason have. I've managed to survive in such an intense environment and knicks. Week got totally caught up in a saga full of twists and turns and tendrils about the life of just one congresswoman. We're gonna venture from hilltop home of an internationally renowned joola share. He wanted the all the glory for himself. I really can't go into the mind of charles gardner but he said he did. Not mother might lot very difficult for him. We'll head deep into the heart of a magnificent end museum for plants. So we're entering a quarantined area. Okay hidden on stays now.

Liberty win draft lottery again, followed by Dallas

"Those of you joining and don't know really know how the lottery works Do you feel comfortable going to do a rundown on how the lottery works absolutely so each team is going to be given. A certain percentage certain amount of picks out of one thousand like for example the liberty who have the best odds are going to get four hundred and forty two of those thousands of those thousand chances so they have a forty four point two percent chance if you look atlanta dream. Dallas wings in indiana fever also in the draft lottery with a decreasing percentage is on each of those free of those teams respectively. But essentially. what's going to happen is they're going to pull out a a a series of balls out of a out of a mixing machine. I guess you could say. And then whichever team is assigned to that four-ball combination is going to receive the number one pick so there's going to be fourteen balls numbers one through fourteen and then each team is given a combination of a given a pile of combinations out of those fourteen balls that they will be assigned and then so whatever. Whatever order those balls come out in is gonna be what Ends up who who ends up getting that first overall pick

How Doris Burke Became An Accidental Pioneer

"We'll. So Dana I can you tell us a little bit about your own relationship with Doris Burke Yeah? I'm Lucky Kavita I. Mean I worked at ESPN for eight years. So Doris was one of the people that I interacted with frequently. I mean we had so much in common with our love for college basketball and we would just chat at games or she shoot me a text. Love that story that you did today you are. You're just you know you did a great job you knocked it out of the park or I would text her. So we've gone back for years and She's just always been the same. That's the coolest thing I can say about Dr is I don't care if she's super popular people are making t-shirts. Drake and all this, and she's still the same that she was when I first met her how would you describe her on air personality and her style in the booth I think what people like about Dr She's She's she's very intelligent and on point about all of her observations, he's got US billy. Donovan says excellent lower body strength and he doesn't reach over. Don't give the official even a window cut the angle. She is not loud. She's not there's no stick to her tough shot contest. Yes. Yes she says something and she really hones in her. She really calls somebody out everyone's Kinda like both. To Me is where Andrew Wiggins has stood in the corners on several possessions. Like steals reporter to. And if you talk to people in the game, they actually say that they they are very respectful of her opinion and they know if she has a problem with something, then there's a problem. We'll Dana you recently wrote a profile on doors for the athletic I. can you tell us a little bit about her background and her early days? She's like a lot of us or at least like me you know kids that grew up just interested in sports. Super. Star Sable. Start Tonight number eleven she moved from Long Island to the Jersey shore to a small town happened to be a park across the street and a basketball hoop and it was like divine intervention right? She hadn't really played a lot of basketball growing up in Long Island. But when she moved, she was young enough that she just that's where she went and there was never a sense of Oh Doris girls don't play sports. It was just whatever you're busy go outside and play sable from outside. and. So she just became a really good ballplayer where really good basketball players are often developed, which is on the playgrounds took all comers boys girls didn't care. The BUZZER GUARD SABLE Head. And grew into a good enough. Basketball players to get a scholarship to providence. We forget that that was a really big deal for young women. Athletes are just weren't a lot of them. That wasn't normal and she recognize it immediately as what it was. It was a ticket for her to get to college and pay for college and established herself in a career. She wasn't there was no WNBA obviously, she knew that this was the path for her future in her life and she just kinda followed it along. Well, she definitely likes to make fun of herself when talking about in her plane, I had it all going on bad hair bad teeth bad clothes, and the only thing I care about whether my jump shot would ever Mack my triple driveability. She does she downplays herself. She doesn't think she wasn't. You know whatever she wasn't the greatest player. You know she was more of a thoughtful player than a an athletic player that sort of thing. Yeah. I mean she's very self deprecating even about her broadcasting career, which is just hilarious. But again, that's what makes Dr. Stars is that she doesn't take herself too seriously. How did she get her start in broadcasting accidentally which I think I can relate that myself but in her circumstance she was coach she went back to providence to be a coach but then she got married and she got to look around. You know this was back when there weren't a lot of. MOMS that were coaches, you know a lot of coaches, maybe one or the other they couldn't do both and she really thought I want to start a family. So she stepped away from coaching and by Dumb luck at the same time Providence decided you know what? We could put a couple of women's basketball games on the radio and we need somebody to do the radio for us and Ella Dar's. You're sitting there. Why don't you do this and she did and she jokes pie five people are listening you probably honestly not wrong. Let's be honest providence women's basketball and some regional network probably not like drawing huge numbers but she loved it and it was easy and it was comfortable and that just sort of Begat one opportunity after another and an big break came because one of the men's basketball. Analyst for the Big East Games couldn't make it into a providence men's game and they were desperate and that she tells us hilarious story was at the emergency room with her son. He had fallen off the weight bunch cut his head open blood everywhere. She's GONNA to bloody shirt and they told her to come down and do play by play and she said, well, I can't play by play but I'll do the color and boom she's on TV and there she. Is I mean no intent to climb some corporate ladder it just sort of opportunity presented itself and she took it.

"We're now a week removed from the rubble experience in Bradenton and everything that went through that and I thought it made sense to to really talk about the overarching experience. You know how you would grade the league putting this together in terms of safety entertainment, social justice. There's so much about this whole thing. There's so many stories about it. As a whole Logan I guess if you could give a grade to just. Nuts and bolts the whole. While experience, everything that we just witnessed over the last couple of months what what what are you pulled off I'm I'm giving it a strong a I'm going to start off boring and giving it a strong a and I'll tell you this. This is a take off on this episode on the show before. But I think we kind of lose sight of how difficult it was for them to pull this off as well as. It took it took the NFL in Major, League baseball approximately two or three weeks of playing their seasons before. Games were being moved covert outbreaks happening amongst teams people were breaking protocol like suddenly the fate of the future of the season was in jeopardy. You know in the first month WNBA didn't even come close to those types of scares. I think they handled the bubble. Great. They branded the the season well, orange city was kind of a continuous thing throughout and since we were talking uniforms earlier, amaze as miserable mentioned like the success of. The League's coverage branding this year and overall I. Think it felt like to me regular sees there. There were definitely some moments where I hated not having fans there You know there there are some there is some games in some moments where it really stood out to me how much more memorable it would have been if they were in front of live audiences. But everything down to the regular season the post season, the finals The fact that the WNBA finals had fifteen percent better viewership over last year we can. We can probably make that a whole topic all on its own but I don't know if you've noticed Steve, if you're up in viewership this year. That's a unicorn like nothing is up in viewership this year. So the extended coverage has definitely continued to. Interested parties I just think it's a I give him an most popular NBA team. was. In and won. The NBA finals. To drop viewings. Like that to me, I go the thing that absolutely should encapsulate. This is why they should be a boost in ratings still not and to the point that the League's not that leagues I'm considering like Oh this is a problem because go it's pandemic Seattle to see that increases the beginning I was gonna hit this take a little later I thought maybe it's not as vital of take, but it was probably my biggest. Is If, we were to list the biggest learnings coming out of this experience. If there's anything we're taking with US and should continue it should be. We're now going to see a reshuffling and schedule because there's going to be big judgment twenty, twenty one thinks you're starting so late in the year. We may see a big difference in win seasons kickoff I. Think we've proven that running both basketball league league schedule simultaneously works. And I think it's healthy for the WNBA to consider being on a similar schedule it would be a shorter schedule. Yes. It's a little different because you're so used to playing with structure where you have the college. Season but I still think you can somewhat make that work. I. Think there's ways to to make that work in ways to work around it would have to see but since I am. I think that it was a huge healthy boost. It sounds weird but to play basketball when people are expecting basketball yeah, I agree I think there's this mental gap in a lot of people's minds and not not the people that are on twitter trolling that are just haters for the sake of being haters. But people who just don't know a lot about the league don't see on a lot. Don't yet as you said, don't expect to watch a lot of basketball in the summer because it's not basketball season I think a lot of those people probably tuned into games this year and I think it bridges that mental gap. Like more seamlessly, win the WNBA finals game is on, and then the NBA finals game is on like the the men's players are talking about sue bird and the women's players in the women's players are talking about social justice initiatives in the NBA players are like, Hey, us to like them. We want to talk about those initiatives and kind of back and forth between these two leagues that I think equates them with one another and I think in the past you have this problem with the WBZ being acquainted with Summer League. With Spring Training Baseball with I, don't know what is going on in the summer but not things not three words. Yeah. The off season for the NBA. Yano. I I think equates to people's minds and they start to understanding o both professional basketball leagues was men one is women. They're the same and it's yeah alone a lot how many American football leagues have tried to run football in the spring. At. least how many of them have succeeded? Yeah and definitely none and yeah, you can't necessarily fully judge the most recent xfl. But the AF whatever it was called like..

"WNBA. W NBA nation. Hello Yen. So good to have you for the guess post season. Episode of the show finals are done and dusted. We're getting deep into October time. I don't know that anyone knows what's going to happen but we're definitely gonNA talk to you all about it. I'm Steve Schwartzman I'm here Jones Logan Harari. I'm good. I've had. A couple of really good sports nights in a row. So I think the WNBA championship is kind of it's kind of a sparked some positive regression from the universe recently that I think we all do for this year. Yeah. I know you've had a very polarizing week sports as. Bad but. I'm enjoying myself. My Los Angeles upbringing has been really. Really Fun just baseball doesn't exist anymore. Basketball definitely does I guess that's the easiest way to put it and and you pretty much all of your happy sports moments this last week to sue bird and super loan. Yes right. So I don't I don't know if any any or care, but both preempt game Russell Wilson sporting the backwards suber. Make sure that the name was front and center. and. End. We're hitting this topic right at right out the shoot because I did. WanNa bring this up and I'm glad you said this. I think actually onto something stylistically here's the thing and I don't know if this is a very hot take I've had a hard time purchasing wnba Jersey because quite honestly. The Front of WNBA Jersey ain't that cool. It's mostly logos. There's no number there's a team logo, but it's mostly ads in it. Everything's templates sized. So it's hard to put some personality on it. There's something to the idea of wearing it backwards. There's something to being like I'm your brief Stewart, and that's why I'm wearing this jersey. At I'm Kinda really down with it I. IT feels it feels weird until you remember that you can cover the collar with face mask anyway or you know it's cold soon maybe a nice scarf. I'm not really a scarf guy, but like you can, you can find a way to make it. So the caller doesn't look weird and then you get the name a number. Everyone wants to you know I know listeners out there right now go you guys are crazy I'm telling you. It's not a bad look now. It's really not an I was one of those people in my head I was like maybe I'm just crazy. But I think it's look and honestly it doesn't look weird at all it. For instance, he's wearing a jacket if you can't see the Jersey behind him like the front of the Jersey on his back. All A It looks a little weird in the context of I know that it's the back of a jury. But I think it could be a look that could be the fashion statement just. Players just be like listen. If this becomes a trend, I think that signals to Mitchell and ness hey. People would love to wear jerseys with the team named front and center. That's your kind of your thing. Right? Is IT industries may give the WNBA some some swags gear it would just it's needed so badly because people forget how quickly. We do this w history thing I'm working on some new episodes we'll. We'll hopefully have those up for long. One thing that hits me as I. Continue to go down the early history of the League was mad WMA teams has drip like. There was some money uniform sets. that. Have No love because it's the temple testing every clip from. Like. Super She wasn't Fourth Championship. Let's look back at two thousand four when you want her first of the NBA championship, every clip is like all. Like. It's totally from the mid two thousand era like the font and everything we've have. If you want to go back and listen we have an entire episode where we talk about every iteration of every wnba uniform for the teams because the offseason happens lifetime on our hands. But man that storm uniform is really a we were just talking before this episode actually about how like we don't need every Jersey we talking about uniforms we like the design aspects of love uniforms we don't need everyone. I would like in addition to my current Breese Stewart, Jersey, I, need vintage Suber Jersey. I think that's what I need my collection. Yeah I think. Obviously the Classic Storm Look Great I think you know in a an original Sparks Jersey Should be Glasheen it feels like you need a comet stir the. Donald feels like required if you're going to have a collection. And then get be a dawn Staley Sting Jersey I don't care what you. But I need one the staying in the Cleveland Rockers are. Such different reasons, mammals money looks both of them. The one, the one that I'll take is this this is such an out there but I I know you've said there's a couple times if jewell Loyd ever finds her way to the sparks. It would be the only reason I would ever get in La Jersey for anything but I would get like an old school sparks jersey? With Julian's name a number on it that interesting. FBI. Interested feel how you how you pull that off but. And golly that original Spurs Jersey man first of all being the only one that has the tree on because that's just the best I like. The palm tree is also kind of a spark. It gives you something that just no Jersey has. It adds it adds a spark literally figuratively. I'm saying you so much for tuning in every one to two unique talk episode but. He's in a while no. We obviously have dive into in terms of. Were now through the twenty twenty wnba season, the level experience all the goodness. We don't really have a format for the show at this point in terms of what topics you're GonNa hit and in what order it just felt like the right time to finally have a season retrospective. This has been possibly the most unique. Year of basketball full stop. We may ever had and the NBA just got through with with their bubble experience..

"You're listening to this podcast near thinking man. I was fun. What a great season I'll have to drop this podcast. Pick it up. Pick it up. Once the season starts next year once twenty, twenty, one begins. Don't are I 'cause here's the thing during the seasons. Great. I love recording this podcast during the season I. Think we have more fun during the offseason. Does that make sense I think that there's obviously more content to to discuss and it's it's a blast to really get into the Games in the nitty gritty of the day to day happenings of of the League. But. The off season. We still give updates on NCW watch list we look at overseas play. Off Season moves trades free agency, all of that. That's still on the table for us. But in addition to that, we have a lot of fun. We have a lot of fun episodes we've done everything from you know a three part. Analysis chronology of the rise and fall of the of the Houston comets to breaking down some of the best and worst uniforms that we've seen in the League we have season interviews with a lot of players and were able to bring some players on it and get to talk with them a little bit more. And and bring some stories that way. "In WNBA history. What do you think? It's so tough. Because there's there's been teams with Multiple Hall of Famers Yeah I. I would have taken this team against last year's mystics. I would as well. Obviously, it's hard to to make that conjecture. I'm not taking anything away from last year's do. This is very different finals last year where you had. Del Don gutting out these performances with her injured back in and A. Like, now I can't remember the finals. MVP. Stepping up into this that was like Oh like this is where heroes are made. This finals was much more Seattle showed up to work handled their business like through the aces in the basic dryer every night and we're just like. Yes, some we'll dry on low we we don't need to. It's it's no mess right? So I'm GONNA play a little I I would agree with that I. Think this might be a top two or three all-time WNBA team. I think that they are right up there I think that they could play with the could play with just about any other squad going back through WNBA history like they're just that good Now, a couple of things just to play a little bit of devil's advocate again, hundred percent. CONGRATS TO SEATTLE. Love it like just dominant like you couldn't ask for more from a team that what we saw from Seattle the season couple things logan as far as looking a little bit to the future. just because I do I mean literally the season ended like twenty minutes ago and I'm like ooh. What about next year? Right? Like I'm just I'm. Maybe. That's my way of like handling the sadness that the season's over right now like I'm Kinda like running on this high, but like I don't want accept the fact that I don't get Wnba basketball for another like several months So but with that, it might like there are a few things in breed even. Alluded to this in the post game comments. Seattle one of only a couple teams I think they're the only team I believe that came into the bubble with their entire roster intact. I think just about everybody else was losing pieces and the majority of these teams were missing large pieces like like superstar level pieces like. Former MVP level pieces right in Washington. And so with that being the case. Do you feel like that? Does that hinder at all Seattle's like look of dominance this season? Do you think that they would have still been as dominant? If let's say. Della Don and So elated late on Orleans Cam Beige Kelsey plot like if some of these other players were back, do you think a replaying this season? Do you think that we would have seen as dominant performance out of Seattle? I don't think it takes anything away. No, I'm sorry. They just swept the number one finals. We made a big deal about the number one seed and they won by like thirty three. No. Ill about Asia Wilson, winning the MVP over Stewart because those regular season victories no, it doesn't take anything away from the storm right anything. I think being able to handle the season as well as they did playing every other night not having any practices not having their regular head coach there in the bubble with them. Just to show how much of a separation there is between this storm team and the next tier of good teams behind them We we talked a lot during the season about the Chicago sky about the sparks about the. A. Little bit about Minnesota. I I hardly remember those teams. Now it's already forgotten. The season ended half hour ago and I you know were on twenty, twenty, one, this storm team you will always remember. Because it was great and they'll get another chance be proved in two thousand eighteen. This is the repeat performance. This isn't just the. Was This a fluke? Were they really? Wasn't the bubble. This is the second act. Of this play and I know it's getting a little bit ahead of ourselves but. Arrest illegal is GonNa try to reload and make run next year they're going to be in the mix next year, and that's where you start talking about. You know if they pull a third title into Seattle with this same core. Even. If sue bird. Eventually ages out in retires, which is kind of a mystery but here's the thing. If she does they're not losing a lot. They've got Jordan Canada. They've got starting point guard on the on the bench. So she didn't play a lot of games this year so. It's a team that's used to that although I think her leadership and her her you know poise in big moments would be really missed. She was key to winning twenty eighteen title. But this I think people need to remember because it's so easy to to put it further in the past because it didn't happen in twenty nineteen that this is the repeat performance and next year. I think there's an opportunity for Seattle to both become the winningest franchise in Wnba history and prove that even above the fourth straight title comments even above some of the other historically great teams we've seen. This team just got a timing and the talent and the depth. Exactly right to be the best thing we've ever seen. I agree with that Thanks for let me play a little devil's advocate but I agree I think they still win this year I think that twenty eighteen Seattle was probably one of the best teams I've ever seen and this was just another vert. It was just that same team. Essentially you know in fact, maybe a little better this season I thought the you know they've got Jordan Canada and they've got you know some other pieces that I really think. Added a lot to this team..

"Didn't even know that says you how much you watch even know like, Tony, as Tony Hawk hosted. Knows? They would be. Fortunate to have like Tony Hawk in Asia Wilson like on the ship. Just like role is to be clear just maclear Asia's your pick like if if we get one player that we can invite the host. SNL actually I think diamond would be my pick. Hey. I'd just. I know that this one's probably too obvious and some people might not like it but Burkino, good job at the ESPN. That's True Burke and just like the between two birds series that the storm did was hysterical. I. Think Bird has chop under totally work with the national. CAST. Push for that table this and when we have kyle, we're GonNa talk about this dedicated. An entire episode to WHO's hosting. Saturday night live because I'd love to see some I'm shocked. We haven't really seen that at this point because I think. There is women's soccer players to make a lot of sense. Serena Williams makes sense has, has Ronda Rousey hosted one. This is, yeah. We need to make more time for this discussion. This is. This is suddenly very important to me more than it needs to be. Well. If there's nothing that's really everything we do have for the show though. So we'll be excited to check out game three on Tuesday evening, and whether that's the end of the season or it's not will enjoy off season after that or will enjoy more games the last of to enjoy, it's fun time to be fed of the WNBA. "That's what we need. No, we need to see this ballot. Is it handles. A is it a survey monkey you know like a is it a google form? That I, just click a bubble or is it literally like send us a post it with everyone's name. And their lake. By the way. Stuart in case in case you didn't know that I don't know if I've ever seen. Before I've been to a bowl game before in a professional capacity to cover football and we voted for the players of the game offense events on post, it notes they literally passed it down the line of reporters. So is not a question you wrote a name or you put a little tally mark if the name was already on there. I'M GONNA. Put this I'm GonNa. Go ahead and put this out if you you're a member of the broadcast organising. Vote as a member of WNBA women's basketball media. And can somehow give us some color on what is the voting process look? What is the ballot look like? What are you send it on? How do you put it I? Genuinely curious. If you're listening to this right now I would love to just physically see what that is and I don't care how lame it is. If it's just a screen shot of a Google form I, WanNa see it I'm interested I'm I'm genuinely curious now that like if a Typo. Keep late like if you spelled Asia Wilson, the continent Asia will send. Like. Does she not get a vote if you if you're not thinking, right. Or if you vote for Courtney Vendor, sleuth. Like do not get a vote like what? If you just had horrible handwriting. And your leg, will I know these ones but they can't figure out this one know. We got. Brio standards, and then one for. Wrong anyway you. Totally, go no no I genuinely curious now. That's the first of all. Because I'm so someone's being mean. First of all I say this with respect I'm just saying that. Now, I'm starting to wonder like should a Reiki have been a unanimous vote? Because I. I. Get the because we have. We have to spill Goo McKay and Guba Wally all the time and. Has. The W. early on. and. I always mix up which when I do that with also bad at spelling is a big part of it. So. But that's an easy case where like people forget the HR the W or Z in my name all the time. So it's very possible that. You know. Now I'm starting to look at names like are these two what if you spelled Michel Hines Allen with the y? Like, maybe she would have been first team. Maybe, you didn't sound out to Rossi while you wrote it down. Because, I've done that at times tower. Aussie Elliott. Because the all would have had the fear of God pointed them. That's just when I write out to Rossi the same way I spell restaurant. Like Ristau run. How it spelt because I'm a amador work and that's our embarrassed to admit the one that gets me like Ogm as easy for me. It's exactly like it sounds Elena Don. Man, there's all these els in these ease and these ends. It's interesting one. That is an interesting one. Now looking at like manner, they're. GonNa, come back soon. Please play basketball. It's so nice when you're on. I'm trying to think I know there's others we we don't have time to give it all the stuff that said obviously -gratulations to the You know the all WNBA frosted second team pretty cool and exciting thing. And that's really everything whenever the show logos or anything that we need to harp on real quick for day. That's it tune in for game three on the six should be a good one. The NBA game won't be clinching game for Lakers. You don't pay attention to that game. That's nothing. That's nothing I certainly didn't tonight. You know there's no reason to carry about that though. Baseball because he watches baseball you have but you have game three seven PM Eastern on ESPN. And should be exciting. And Who knows maybe next week we'll get another weird Kate McKinnon joke about the WNBA, on? SNL? was I can't decide if that was disrespectful or now by the way. The way the I don't know if you're. referencing at least they did the research to know who's in the finals. Give him that. Yeah I'll give them that that they actually were like, Hey, these the names of teams. So it's like the first time in a while I didn't know like I watched it on the fence like, is it interesting? Kind of cool shadowed or is this kind of like you guys are sliding? The WNBA been talking about the NBA conversation type of thing. Is Having pick I haven't paid attention to Saturday night live in. There's a lot of great performances but I'm I'm thinking about something you said to me earlier, which is. A lot of those great players don't. Don't ring up every every year. You don't like. WNBA Finals: How Did We Get Here

"China it's great to have you back on ESPN daily. Thanks for having me. Pablo good to be here with you. It's been a while but I kind of want to ask you about what time has been like for you. Since we last talked because this WNBA season, it was a truncated twenty, two games a sprint that started in late. July. So does it feel like the finals or here already like so soon or is it kind of leg? The finals are here at last after forever it's finally happening. It kind of feels like the finals are here at last because you gotta think the conversation around whether or not. There was even going to be a WNBA season started in like March, right? When sports was shut down. So we thought we were going to have a thirty four or thirty, six game season. There was supposed to commissioners, but it didn't seem like at one point there was going to be a season at all. So you have to tip your hat to the wnba Players Association and the WNBA Commissioner Cathy. Engelbert because they were able to create this bubble in braided in Florida Zero Positive Corona virus tests at a lot of fun basketball. So but here we are finally in the finals. Yes, and we are at the top of the mountain and so for those who aren't in the know China, how did these two teams get here? Very different path. So Fiat came into the season. I would say the favourite amongst boasts because they were getting sue bird back into their lineup. They were bringing back a steward both players Miss Todd, last season of due to injury, and this was the Seattle storm team that despite not having those two players not only did they make the playoffs last season but they actually one game of the playoffs. Also keeping in mind that there were Wnba opt-outs I believe that four of the top five vote-getters from last year for MVP did not play this season just a little bit different looking landscape than we may have expected coming into twenty twenty wnba states or a pandemic wnba season. Should I say? Las Vegas Aces were interesting case they were picked to finish fourth preseason. Now, Bill Beer has a ton of talent on his team I mean a number of number one picks lottery picks. He added Angel Cartridge this season, which is a huge acquisition after she of last year. So you know we knew that Vegas would be good I. Don't think we knew that they were going to be finals good but the play of the MVP. Asia Wilson has been incredible this year and you just have to tip your hat to what Vegas has done. Yes. So Asia Wilson is who I wanted to follow up with you about because she won the MVP. This season Brianna Stewart finished second in two thousand eighteen stewart was the MVP and Wilson was the number one overall pick in the rookie of the year. So we have this collision of stars, Legit Stars, and what do you expect to see out of the battle between them? I four both I just think it's fantastic for us to get a sneak peek into what the future of the WNBA is going to be over the next ten years. Asia Wilson Umbrian to Stewart are the future of the WNBA and Brianna Stewart obviously has already wanted wnba championship. She's been in MVP and you see Asia Wilson really coming into her own as as a player in this league but when you look at the Style of these players Brian Stewart six four can shoot the three incredibly versatile likes to play in space moves well, without the ball Asia will on the other hand she's going to play fifteen feed in likes to bang very physical. A ton of an one plays and I think that's what made as Wilson's performance this year. So oppressive is that you know that she wants to score fifteen feet in, but you cannot stop her. So you mentioned before that Radha to Stewart Sue bird injured in two thousand, nineteen year before that Seattle had one at all and it feels like they're stronger for their path year. So the bench on this team clearly has to be super important. How deep is it? Oh, they're incredibly deep I believe sue bird said at one point that they had an entire starting lineup coming off of the Bitch 'cause they could essentially start their second five at any given game. Now, keeping in mind that Seattle is going to be without Sammy Wickham in the finals and I think that's a huge loss for them because she's a big spark plug is a streaky but can be a great three point shooter but you know when you look at the development of that supporting cast that we talked about earlier without Subarea Stewart has was the Defensive Player of the year. Jordan Canada led the League in steals. Last season Jewell Loyd has been fantastic in even in these playoffs shooting sixty percents from the field in her three playoff games including two twenty point performances issues a former number one pick. So the cover does not bear at all for for Seattle in not to mention a leash Clark who is one of the great defenders in a wnba right now, they've got a lot of depth in their inner lined up in their rotation on the roster.

"And thinks you have to pull it up I think she scored twenty three, twenty, four something like that and yet really solid game. And then. Julia Almonte You Know Point Guard in Indiana I think has played really well I think she's she's been a she's not filling up the stat line like crazy snap putting up gaudy numbers but is like. She's again I'm not putting your necessarily into that front runner discussion for rookie of the year. But as far as players who I'm really happy about you know like seeing them in their first season in the league like, yeah like one hundred percent she's doing really well, I, like almond a lot because she's she is playing big minutes. She's playing more than thirty minutes night on a regular basis usually thirty five and and she she also is not you know the main offensive weapon on that team. But when she does shoot, she's usually very efficient. As had four games this year in double digit scoring side I do I I like keeping an eye on her a lot. She's had a games with nine assists eleven. Several with five or more like she. She really helps the flow of the offense. Indiana's kind of a team that. Has Graduated, frown? Being hated on because they're at the bottom of the barrel to we're not really talking about it a lot because they're in the playoffs and they're they're not playing all that bad they're four and seven. You're not doing anything particularly special, but with a rookie guard. Getting that much playing time in them still being able to collect a couple of wins against maybe some of the weaker teams and younger teams We might see them in the playoffs here this year and I think even if you're not going into a series expecting. necessarily. To hold your own like if it's a vegas versus Indiana game, you know not a lot of people are going to put their money on biggess. Are Excuse me on underneath? But just that playoff experience in a league that roster are so limited and the seasons. So Short I think getting class experiences. Rookie means a lot so. Again, I don't. Compete for the award. But. She's definitely someone that I could see being a piece for this team moving forward for a while now, and it seems like using her in the spot where where she's at right now and so. Are Logan I think. I don't WANNA get into defensive player of the year six woman her most improved because those are such like we have to go like thirty players deep on some of those lists. There's so many you know that are. That are in the running for a lot of those. So we'll is a little bit deeper into that as we come to of the regular season. But right now we're not GONNA WE'RE GONNA go ahead and skip that in our midterm discussion. If you. If you WANNA, if you want to hear about that, we're happy to do it maybe like a Patriot special or something So if you want to hop on her patriot and and become a patient there maybe maybe we'll do it there. FEEL FREE TO CHECK THOSE OUT Also Oh. Yeah. Go ahead is to jump in if If you're new to this show and new to WNBA fandom First of all, welcome, this has been a really good season so far for wnba ratings, orange. He's like the most popular thing on fanatics and we got a lot of good momentum going for our show and a lot of new listeners I would just encourage you to go back to about mayor June in our in our show. And in addition to listening to our our latest updates on the goings on in the League at Games, being played this week I would look up the W history series. Yes. That Stephen and Kyle Apple together in in our Jason was able to to. Put a nice. Sleek packaging on a is a three part series on the the Houston. Comets back to back to back to back. Championship wins from the early days the WNBA and in addition to some evergreen interviews that we did back in in May June, I think those are some episodes that perhaps some new listeners would would like to go in spent a couple of hours. Knocking out I would highly recommend looking those up if if that's something that you're doing laundry this week and you got a fold. In the in the half hour of you're listening to right now ends go look that one up and I think you won't regret not absolutely those were those were a ton of fun I know, Steve. Put a lot hours into that research and honestly some of the most fun episodes that we've ever recorded together but they were blast. But Yeah. Let's. Let's let's hop right into to this. Kind of what I'm just GONNA WANNA ask you logan. You said you came back after after a couple of days of being gone up into yellowstone on a little vacation and What are your thoughts right now? As you know whether it standings whether it's an individual team whether it's a player that's caught your eye what did you some initial quick thoughts of you about about where we're at after four games apiece I've I've a general impression of what the League is GonNa look like at this point even those such a small sample size It's already evident Kinda which teams have their act together and have aspirations for championships and which teams have major problems I'm most surprised by the major problems we're seeing with.

"When the game was kind of out of reach I, love that Jackie getting more time she's at number one draft pick from last year and I think Las Vegas is really trying to get bring her along and help her develop into. She's got the talent. I think it's just putting it together. We saw a similar thing with Kelsey plum. Who you know ironically with the aces is is sitting out this season. But you know starting started had a rough first couple of seasons in the league in now starting to kind of come into her own and I hope Jackie inks can have a similar. Hopefully, she and and plummer having several conversations on that. But overall, just a really really solid performance from Las Vegas. ATLANTA? They're they're going to have a similar season to like your Dallas in your and your. New York. Because they you know they've got so many new. New players and you know young players they've got they're trying to put a lot of this together. Kennedy Carter. Came in and right out the gate had ten points I swear before I blinked but she only finished with with eleven. She didn't shoot very well went three for eleven. But I think still trying to find her find her spot and find her rhythm with this team Mooney billings who had what Logan brought up. I think one of the most impressive stat lines that we've seen so far this whole season she had in their first game and Las Vegas just completely shut her down. Helder to five points just A. Seven rebounds. So she seemed to be a little bit of a non factor. Luckily, we saw Lisbeth William Step Up. With sixteen points but Atlanta, it was a rough game. Atlanta let's let's chucked out one up to. A kind of a lack of chemistry and go ahead and move forward. But. Yeah. So that's kind of my take on these games I thought that there was a lot of fun basketball and I'm never gonNA complain. "What's up WNBA nation Kyle Haywood here and I'm running a quick solo episode. Just. Wanted to hop on and give you a little bit of a mid week update after the second round of games has happened. So officially, every single team in the NBA has played two games now and just a quick look at the standings because I didn't anticipate. Some of these starts are right. If you told me that both Connecticut and the Mercury Connecticut in Phoenix would start the season off. Oh and two out of been a little surprised. If you told me that the mystics would have started off to, no, I also would have been a little bit surprised. Now granted, there's a lot a basketball to be played but particularly. For Phoenix I really feel like they'll figure it out here hopefully soon, New York's got an uphill climb because they've got seven rookies. Yeah. They have Sabrina UNESCO, them trust me we're GonNa talk plenty of Sabrina. But right now New York's got a pretty drastic uphill climb in Connecticut I think still trying to figure out their identity with dewana Bonner and junk Jones sitting out. So there's some continuity there but I I, just wanted to hop on and have a quick little chat session with you guys and and have a little bit of just a breakdown of what we've seen during the second to the second little series of game. So but as we do I just wanted to invite. Forever, you're listening to this podcast whether it's on apple podcasts or some other pod grabber go ahead and subscribe, and if you would be so kind to if you are listening on apple podcasts or some other. Some other area that you can give a rating. We would really appreciate that that helps us to get boosted up the ranks of the sports podcast and be able to hopefully reach more new WNBA listeners and be able to help get them introduced to the League. So Let's get. Into it, I think the I. I'm not GonNa do these in order I'm going to do them by the way that I imagine you guys want to talk about I think the majority of people really WanNa talk about new. York Dallas because there were so many new faces to the League in this game that we really got kind of A. Snapshot of the Future of the League. So there's just talking about the elephant in the room Sabrina. UNESCO. Thirty three points seven rebounds seven assists just a really really solid game she she shot fifty five percent overall including sixty percent from behind the ARC and went perfect five for five behind at the free throw line. Now, as a whole New, York didn't shoot terribly the shot forty, two percent, even the three point percentage at thirty six isn't terrible. where, they really seemed to struggle was slowing Dallas down and being able to create difficult looks for Dallas Dallas came out shooting. Ended ended up shooting fifty percent for the game. Lead by a Rica Mboya. WHO Is just basically the face of the team at this point. So Gumbo Wally Drops Twenty Mariah Jefferson with thirteen and then sought to and Katie Lu both bringing in a twelve a piece there. But really outside of UNESCO do. Not a lot of performance. From, the rest of this liberty squad. Clarendon did bring in eleven points herself had a couple of steals. And a man does that we with eleven rebounds but just really seemed especially late down the stretch when New New York was trying to close any semblance of a gap moving forward. was just really having a hard time finding a shot to drop so. Kind of kind of an interesting one, we were able to see a lot of. Players. Able to get. Jasmine Jones. Out there. Kylie shook Megan Walker join our homes. We're able to see quite a bit of Jocelyn Willoughby which I thought was pretty exciting. So we'll see we'll see what happens with this New York team. Any W is going to be going to be welcomed by any liberty fans but I think liberty fans should be encouraged that they're. Their front office is is kind of playing with this extremely deep draft class in trying to see who's GonNa. Emerge. Obviously with Sabrina, they know they've got a future franchise piece there but a lot of these other players they're trying to just feel out and see who's GonNa. WHO's GonNa turn into something so Dallas comes away with that victory ninety, three to eighty. Dallas getting their first victory. On the season, which is really awesome for them being able to get that I. W. And get over the liberty. Of this was you know the number one pick Sabrina against the number two pick sought to savelly both of them Oregon ducks, and it was kind of fun to see them finally play against each other after playing with each other. For three years. The next game I wanNA talk about and it's simply because. I just don't know what to think. Is Indiana, and Phoenix. Now. Indiana I think could potentially be a an outside shot at a playoff spot. I think they've got the talent, but you've got a brand new coach. They've got a few new pieces and. They just they haven't made the playoffs for the less you know several seasons and it'll be. Kind of changing that culture to a winning culture I. Think is going to be. is going to be difficult for them. However, if there's a season to do it, why not this one in the bubble? Indiana does come out with the with the w though over the heavily talented Phoenix Mercury squad. INDIANA. Was led three players getting twenty plus points with another just shy tiffany Mitchell, a twenty four candidacy pre with twenty three tier mccown with twenty. And Kelsey Michelle, just outside of that range with eighteen. This was just an just a high scoring battle. It seemed like neither team. was getting stops and both teams were just on a hot streak both teams shot right around fifty percent with Indiana fifty one point four percent from the floor. Both of them over forty percent from three point line just insane. The difference in this game as it is in so many other games is free throws it came down to free throws. Ninety almost ninety three percent from the fever and only a seventy percent from Phoenix. which is just Not, going to get it done down the stretch. If you're if you're missing free throws that frequently hardly seemed to particularly have a difficult time. A difficult time at the free throw line. Missing half of her eight attempts there. But there were if you shining pieces from Phoenix as well, Bria Hartley even though she struggled. From, behind from the free throw line played a really really solid game shot nine of fifteen from the field with twenty six points. I was really impressed with what I, what we saw from her she also. Shared. The assist lead on the team with with five she into ROC- both dropping five times of peace. But Yeah Bria Hartley with twenty five minutes and twenty six points to basically kind of keep Phoenix in it. We also were able to see. Br Brittany griner. Finally. She had a pretty rough initial first game and she didn't she's not. She's not playing. The way that I that we've been able to see her in the past. But I mean she had twenty three points and seven rebounds. It's not terrible. But didn't didn't. I didn't feel like she had a particularly strong game and I do expect a little bit more from her to have. Only with six points. Sky Dig with twelve I mean it was. kind of a it's kind of a rough rough go for some of the big star players of the Mercury and they did have a couple bench players step up. I gotTA. Shout out to a lot of Smith who we've interviewed on the show last season if you want to go back and listen to her interviews, one of my favorite interviews that I've done personally. Is Great to see her get out and and get some good solid minutes played over half the game and came with fourteen points. I thought that was great. Can we talk for a second about tear McCowan though goodness? Gracious drop in twenty and thirteen. Wasn't really a factor in their game one and I was a little frustrated. Didn't you know we didn't see your start either game and it seemed like her minutes weren't really there in the first maybe she's still coming along in the in the conditioning side of things and if so I. Totally get that. But there are different team when she's on the court. I love the she was able to play thirty minutes eight for eleven. From the field like just a really really solid game from account..

"All right this is where I have to get my heartache. In I think two thousand eighteen is that hot of a draft at noon. Yeah it's a good draft. I think it's honestly over inflated. Didn't this was the first draft we covered as though now. I'm not saying it's a bad draft is very draft. I see this being. This could potentially be like a three player prong draft if Jordan candidate proves. I think the two players that you go this was these were the two mainly Asia than prolly diamond. A shield right. I think there's a potential ceiling and a lot of these players. I could be wrong. I know it just didn't sit with me and they did just recency. Maybe it's one of those things like. I have a hard time picking a class that hasn't shown like the value quite yet so it's really hard to pair with other draft. Glasses that your body seeing what they can put together. So maybe that's it I can. I can totally understand that I totally. I totally feel that I think for me. The the rookie season for this class wasn't strong. Sophomore season. Like just probably a lot of reasons he because you just look at the season that so many of these players had the last year and I'll fully admit probably some reasons he vice went into that. Yeah I tried not to let that cloud things too much. I mean look at players. Like like Asia Wilson. Who has a chance of being the defining player of an era? But but beyond that like as your Stevens who is involved in an offseason trade might might be more involved Ariel Atkins Alexi Brown like if players that put together good careers in the League for ten seasons. We might look back at draft and kind of it'll it'll be flavored ovid more prominently right. It's hard to say that before when it's only been there for Dixie. They could be as as where I can't put stock into it. And that's where like for instance. I walked out of rookie seasons feeling that way about as your Stevens Kelsey Mitchell. I walked out of sophomore seasons feeling significantly less about those two players mum. But it's a tough one because you're right almost every pick in this. Top twelve is a powder keg. Because there's a chance like Maria Ghoulish me of a diva like kinder's K. Brown just got traded and has some like. I think she could do a lot in Minnesota. Yeah that Yan them I just. I'm I'm maybe. He said like side by side with the twenty sixteen draft. It's almost like I feel like there are still more upside to the two thousand eighteen draft but between six more proven. I totally get why you would take twenty sixteen for being like this is already done. I guess it's just the potential is there. It's that right now. I look at two thousand sixteen and I know there are two. Mvp caliber players. I don't know if that's evidence to white yet eighteen. Yeah but I like the selection. I'm not going to out if you guys put them in your top two. I would have more of a stink three I I yeah I knew I couldn't put them in my top two. I couldn't put sixteen or eighteen in my top two. Just because I'm like there's there's too much of the story to be written. If that makes sense yeah I think either one of them in ten years we look back and have them in the top two. I think they both have that potential. But I don't think right now we could say that I mean but yeah it. It's just a hardwood. I can't look at it feel biased because I studied all of these players so much because it was our first reading abstract. Yeah we watch this. We did a livestream owner account watching this on the way to see Justin timberlake like it was. You're right we did it was it was a pretty big. I'm not gonNa out you guys. Let's it's probably just my sneaky. It takes to be like invited me. That said I'm down with it. So do twenty eight teams in the two thousand sixteen so that was her our modern round. I guess you could say let's hit number two So this'll be your second best. Wnba draft class of all time. Thile this is where I'm starting to feel like okay. I'M GONNA get. I wonder how our listeners are going to judge top two and I'm just I don't know my number two is. I'm going two thousand four number one Diana Rossy arguably the greatest women's Basketball Camilla. Yeah but but just like. We've said we don't want to do that. Same thing for a brief steward or anybody else. But number twos Elena Beard Lindsay whalen four Shamikh Christian at five Rebecca Brunson at ten. Like there's some. There's some solid solid players. They also have a little sweet third row third third round Jim at Jia Perkins thirty fifth overall to the Charlotte Sting and who earned herself. At least won't is it too. I think she had to all star selections. I can't remember one all star selection but she made the all decade teen for the San Antonio Stars so Jia Perkins third-round Little Gym there. I like this draft a lot. I Yeah I feel like I have to justify it a lot but I don't I I'll probably just stop right now. I always like to think about you. Know there's there's thirteen selections in the first round. If you're sitting there at number ten and you get Brunson okay. Well there's worse things I feel he was Sean. I think it's top-heavy the top four are really heavy and then there's a couple of later ones but I just I went with my gut on this one. I really do think the two thousand four zero solid I think it. I think it deserves a number two spot. Yeah I I think it's okay when drafts are top heavy. If you think of it in terms of how many number picks would you be willing to give up for a decade of Trouser your beard on your team like like more than one like like other? There's usually one or two or three great players the top of every WBZ draft but those are two that are like can't miss to franchise defining type players right and Lindsay. Whalen at four left out. Because I don't think I like very much undeniable. Let me so let me sum wayland some waylon. Steve WanNa hear your take on this one like my selection or my takes you take on on two thousand four. I think it's a extremely good Clyde. I said really nails in a lot of ways. It's you have players that defined rosters up and down this. Yeah at two two makes total sense. It's it's feels weird because we're talking about top heavy data trusty draft is one of those like a. You could you could. That's all you have to say you can put your. She got the top three alone. If you really wanted to so I get. That's for sure my number two was already called out. Apparently have a lot more stock in this. I'm going with the three. To See. Twenty thirteen is my number two all time. I think you can look at careers of like if you pick three players out of every draft you go. Oh three players megabit careers or accolades. This is the most star-studded raft of all time because became extremely marketable because of these top. Three got a nickname. They all were widely understood. We knew odor they would go in but if they went and other orders it would have made total sense. Britney griner one almost dominant women's college players of all time Elena Delle Donne coming out of obscurity New Hampshire Skyler diggins. Who is pushing the you know the the long for you know the long strong history at Notre Dame and came straight. I'm just everyone came in with such high value in so much excitement where it adds to. It is Kelsey bone solitaire. And Hawkins. Lake Clarendon sneaks in the first round. I love the second round so much. Alex Bentley Sugar Rodgers Enemies Amon. It's just a really really really really like this draft in terms of yes. It has a lot of basketball accolade. Do you have an MVP and here. You have multiple time defensive player of the year in here but you also have like you said this was a very strong public drat. This is one that generated buzz and I honestly reminds me of what you know. Not necessarily what was seen this? Oh coming up but I think like drafts. Like the usuals draft the stuey draft what. We're probably going to see with UNESCO draft even though that's going to be in a weird format where there's a lot of that discussion and you had three players. Who remarkable who had who had value to offer the second. They showed up on the court just for that alone. Because I think that's the thing with drafts drifts. Crapshoot how many we talk we. We've talked about this a lot. How many times do we have to have the lake? The Pistons could have had such an search her but they chose instead of discussing how many NFL fans sit through the ethin- combine every single year. Almost a needless popular sporting ever the crapshoot in sometimes what builds value is that star studded nece and sometimes a draft has both. I think like the two thousand three. Nba draft is a great example of one that had like a lot of flash in flare but also just had really really really good basketball has a little of that but yeah I think what it did for. The impact of the growth league was really strong. Like it Yeah no IT'S A. It's a solid. Yeah I agree. I love that draft. I Love I love that draft very look at number two. I am starting to think that Kyle and I want to top one. Two and three year old going to be seeing my spot is also two thousand four Basically are sorry. Kitty that's colonized top. Three can't be the same because of something that I just noticed sit down. We won't go one two three down the stretch here but for for our two and three spots we're going to be In in lockstep I have two thousand four year as he topped to draft class. As I mean I kind of made by what we were talking about with. Kyle but I think those are players that defines any meat. You're just retired in DC around so they define the league for more than a decade and are just passing the torch to the kind of the current class. That's that's stepping into their own. So for that reason I I and maybe like subliminally I just looked at two thousand four and between the WNBA players that I I love and the NBA class. That was that year. I just think that was the best basketball.

If you do under a give us some support definitely does go a long way and we certainly appreciate it but we want to take the opportunity here in April to reveal some Some of this programming to give an idea of what we're doing over at the Patriot here to additions of her orange OATMEAL Open Forum. A last week he got to Logan I for I. Uni Ira Sports. Looks UNI episode? I had a lot of fun doing and this one is a little more. I think simple but but Cathartic in a lot of ways this is w list and what we'll do here is every week every week. Sorry every episode right now it technically bi-monthly it might be soon. You'll learn why patronage but every episode we will specifically Dole out a top five list. Each of us have compiled and then we will go and around and discuss them. And I'd sure that's a whole program. I have nothing else to say about the show. Do you have any comments on the format of the show? 'cause that's really this one's cutting grass. Yeah that's pretty much. It is just make a make a list. It's the w list so away so so obviously every episode we will have our main WNBA related topic. And if you're looking at the title you probably already know but Logan. Do you WanNa tell all of our friends and good ones. This episode is dedicated to. Yeah this one is going to be a each of ours. I'm going to rephrase that we have each determined the top five wnba drafts since the WNBA began. And we haven't disclosed them to one another and they are probably not the same. We're we're excited to dig into that and we are the show. This is going to be such a very boring. I would actually like really be creeped out because I think we were all. We were all in the same place before we started recording. Which is like I got like five or six but I don't know what order to put the episode where like the Logan take a usually am violently against them like. Oh thank goodness yes. We were on the same brainwaves. Wouldn't have been interesting at all definitely so we're going to drive into yes. Our top five draft classes through through the history of course designer of the WNBA draft which will be taking place on the seventeenth. Yes on the seventeenth. I keep my brain wants to say nineteenth but at seventeenth which of course as scheduled. It won't be crowded be virtually done. It will be aired on. Espn thank you for everyone on. Twitter said to take stand and so that up and looming. We'll probably have some sort of a draft preview mock draft episode proper of WNBA nation coming up but beforehand. We thought it would be fun to talk. Draft classes in history and get hyped for it. Because it's really the first actual wnba thing that we're going to be able to talk about in quite a while and potentially for a while so it's true the last of the WNBA things to happen this year. Just put it that way. I love lists. I Love Fun discussions and I love people doing these video game simulations but you know what? I love more than all that actual basketball. Yeah people people playing the game of basketball on a basketball court. I believe it or not. Superfund a WHO's GonNa break it all these. Nba players filming themselves playing video games. But nobody cares about that I know it's the past the time but it. It's not the same which is funny. Because the I will say the Devon Booker video when he found out about the like the season suspension. Still possibly the best thing to come out of this entire thing if there's a positive thing to come out of it because he just he gets in peer shock for two segments that just go straight back to playing like duty or whatever on a dime so. I think it's not GonNa work like your parent telling you there's a snow day and you're like cool. It's like almost exactly like you like I don't even know what hell else just like. You're right about to leave for shift like Taco Bell. Hey powers that don't come in today. Like what am I doing it anyway? Before we jump into that we have a little primer on this episode of W list of Bean. We always do. I mean this is the first time you've done it so that technically counts. This is an opportunity for us to do some fun. Get to know you also hit some easy topics but in a fund rapid fire way and just realizing that I haven't named the segment yet and I'm going really slow to try name the segment For now we're going to call it list lightning round the lightning wrong guys are dead going. I majored in lightning rounds like this. This is the W. list lighting around all right so here is the lightning round works courses host. Nobody ever at home each of us. We'll have our own top five that we will be given the the issue here is. We don't know yet what that list is. Each host will give another host the list that they need to compile and the only to immediately. Give your top five of that topic as quickly as you can. Once you've given your top five you will then it to that individual hits to another host and then we'll go into a circle seal. He'll three list. He'll that was interesting. You'll hear three top five lists different topics. None of us have any idea what we're saying until we start saying that said gentleman who has ready all right so we're going to start with meets Logan Logan. You'RE GONNA kick over to Kyle to kick win over to myself. So let's do this Logan top-five Dr seuss books. Go Oh my gosh who ho. This is not okay. This is that clip somewhere on Easter eggs. And I gotTa do my Gosh which one fish two fish. I'm going one five just because these are the first things that come to mind. One fish green eggs and ham starving. What's The star Star villages speeches one okay and and you're the Turtle. I don't I don't know the title of that one year. Two Turtles Story and then a grinch stole Christmas. This is already my favorite segment. We've ever done. You've got your the panic that you just feel logan sweating like a little bit. He's like your turtle. What what's that one called? It's called your little turtle good. That's Steve just tapped into a part of my brain didn't know existed. But he was the fear of sitting like a really good one thousand takes. But that's the spirit of the segment sub. Hold it off man. You did well for the very first one. You did very well. You asked me my top five. What you got was the five I can think of while I was trying to remember all of them. It was pretty good. I absolutely love it. All right. Logan cale all right kyle. Maybe you'll have some experience or maybe you'll just have this really just on tap. Your topic is the five players all time you love to hate in a specific sport five players you love to hate just across the board in any sport just clarifying. Ooh I'M GONNA go with number five. Carmelo Anthony Numb Geez. I think my number like two three R a okay number five Carmelo Anthony. Number Four Scottie. Pippen number three Troy Aikman. That's.

"I'm nobody shirt I forget the name of the dude. But some guy responded to believe his Asia Wilson, saying something smuggled cross lines of the you're not getting paid more, because nobody watches the WNBA just just for the fun of it from the WNBA account. We decided to cook tweet that and said, hey, re tweet. If you're a nobody. It's flooded. Our feed. It was honestly art worming. I love it when the WNBA community comes together because, you know, we support this in strong. And so, that's what this is about if you love the league if you wanna promote the w and you wanna make it clear that, you know, I stand with it. I'm a nobody. You know, I I love this league and I stand with it feel free to make your voice heard. You can find these under storing and be paid. You have a couple of other designs as well and get him at a lot of different forms. I'm Rockin the dark blue long polo, you can get t shirts. There's some baseball style tease. I believe you can get tanks. There's a lot of different ways that you can these we got let himself seen. He's absolutely get yourself a hoodie. So, yeah, I threw up the link to it. I don't know if it's actually a link but I put up the, the way to find it, you can just copy and paste out of the chat. There. But yeah, go ahead and check that, by the way, the pr- the proceeds from the I'm a nobody t shirts. All of those. Proceeds actually, like none of that comes to us K. We actually don't we don't use. It doesn't go into our wallets or anything like that. We actually use the proceeds any profits that we make from these shirts. We put them into what we kind of consider like the WNBA scholarship is, I guess, what we could say, like it's essentially where we take these proceeds, and we we're going to go, and we actually purchase tickets to WNBA games and find people in those communities, that haven't attended the W N WNBA game that are potential fans and get them in seats. We go buy tickets for people who who need to go to a game. And so if you guys know of individuals if you if you say, hey, I've been trying to convince my buddy to to get to the game we, you know, if you if you know he might be he or she might be a really good potential candidate for you, WNBA scholarship. We're kinda looking. Applications for that. We're talking to teams about we're kind of work in the best way to go about this. So it doesn't just go into, you know, kind of just giving out random free tickets to people who would go. Anyway, we're trying to find individuals who are on that verge, but haven't attended the game because what made us big fans as we actually went to the actual games..

"Up WNBA fans? Kyle Haywood here with WNBA weekly bringing you are first video podcasts ever for those of you listening audio. We're excited to have you along for the ride, but we also have a video available. If you want to check out our YouTube channel, just WNBA weekly. We'll be right there. You can actually watch this podcast live on video. So what's up to the rest of you? Who to all of you who are now checking it out on video who were listening on audio earlier? Hi, how are you? Joined by my good friend, Jason snow tonight. How's it going? Jason, dude. I am doing so good excited to sort of test out this new format we kinda hinted at it. We recently did that live feed for the WNBA draft. That went really, well, we got really great feedback. I thought from it and a great participation. So we wanted to try this out. See if a video version of our pot is something that you guys would enjoy let us know what you think you'd be weekly on Twitter. And we like it we think it'll give us a chance to do a regular audio version of the pod that's not going away. But this'll do is if you have the time or or you have the interest in watching it. We'll be able to throw highlights up as we're talking. We'll be able to throw up graphics. Maybe make it a little bit more interesting. Little more bang for your buck, which you don't pay much for the pot unless you're on patriots in which case, we appreciate you very much. Yeah. I think it's going to be good absolutely, dude. I'm pretty excited. It's kind of a fun. Maybe you may experience a little bit of growing pains along with us. But hey, we're trying to add some different. Elements to our coverage of the league. So we'll see this just one just one more thing that we're giving a shot. So if you guys like it go ahead, if you are watching on on YouTube, go ahead and give it a like give us a comment. Let us know where you're watching from in the YouTube comments below and then also if you want to you know, let us know what you think about it. You know, give us some feedback. We'd be happy. You know, send us a message. Whatever you want. But Jason dude, we got a lot of the cover today. There's a bunch of stories that have happened here after the WNBA draft that are just kind of all over the place now out down last week with a Neela w hoops blogger for those of you who are want to give her a follow on Twitter. We broke down with her with her some draft grades for the WNBA draft. And there's been a lot happen. So let's let's kinda hop right in first of all day. Well. The day that we're recording. This not the day that you guys are listening. But today it was announced that CBS sports is actually picking up forty WNBA games. Love it. Love it. Love it. I believe I'd have to pull the exact numbers believe ESPN was planning on showing sixteen regular season games. Now, of course, ESPN is doing their coverage of the WNBA finals. So that will play into it. But let's if they show all the. Just the finals, but the whole w MBA playoffs. I guess so. So if that's the case with all the WNBA playoffs. Plus, they're sixteen regular games. This is sensually doubles the amount of times that the WNBA is going to be on television this year. With the sixteen regular from ESPN, plus all the plus forty this is that's insane. Forty regular season games on CBS sports super.

"I've wanted to watch it since it's been out, and I've never seen it, and I really liked to because that's like every every list, you look up every everything you try to find on like mill lead sports movies. That's always going to be in the top three or four or five. And it makes me feel like like that's something that really resonated that. I'd like to check out for so I'm gonna throw her other. I love it. I like that. I think it's a solid pick for sure Kylie your three. Man. There's so many ways I wanna go with this one. But I don't want it to drop any further because this is a WNBA podcast the. That included WNBA. Ties that I watched as a kid was a movie called double team on the Disney channel it was about twin sisters Heather and Heidi Burge, and I am actually going to go with Heather Burge as my official pick. As far as you just all you even can I bowl sisters. If you have let's do both. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Heather actually did end up playing for the Sacramento, monarchs and. Heidi played for the sparks and the mystics back at the very beginning of the WNBA. They both did. They both played in the league in it's kind of a biopic as well. But it was it was enough. They took liberties with that. I think it was a it was movie. I like like I like it a lot. I have a very strong idea to Milan picks. And I'm nervous because I'm were possibly gonna be leaving our other league of their own pickoff aboard. But will see she's by is might be a weird one to throw in at third, but it's happening Lola bunny. Welcome to the bracket. That was going to be my four seed. I I was real nervous. Yeah. I don't know. I just decided that's doing with the the best looney. Tune by far at basketball by like, I didn't want her to go in the top half of the bracket. Because I I want there to be like actual acumen athletes. Maybe that makes me a bad person. I'll say this. I would bet not anything I own. But I would bet a significant soem that Lola bunny and WNBA involvement is going to be key to the spaceship sequel. I hope I I really think..
