Larry o'connor back in here and I think he's going to be smoking hot fresh off vacation and ready to talk to you about everything and so I'm gonna be super excited to last you know transition back into my regular life the right now I'm still here and it's so great to be with you and it's great to have our next gas it's Julie Kelly a political commentator and senior contributor to American greatness Hey Julie thanks for joining us here on WMAL Stacy thanks for having me okay so when I read that you were going to join us to talk about this as I go thank god because I read a couple of stories and I was thinking am I not understanding what's happening to you you've got an equal faces the title of your piece a real obamacare a whistle blower versus the trump whistle blower tell us more so may eighteenth today is based on this really illuminating and if you're able list in a Washington post in December and the Washington post's has access to hundreds of interviews and documents related to how we've been lied to by our top military national security and political leaders about the war in Afghanistan one of the first interviews that they conducted was with Michael Flynn who a lot of people may not know this but worked for the Obama administration work directly for the director of national intelligence James clapper Flynn was forced out of the Obama administration because he was highly critical of what was happening in Afghanistan how intelligence was being politicized and that handles I mean we know that that is true now based on brushy gate and so he was highly critical they pushed him out he joined the trump campaign the Obama administration and ask the I. targeted my clan at at the at the Robert Muller investigation but he really was and for all intents and purposes a whistle blower trying to alert top officials in the Obama administration about his concerns legitimate concerns of how badly the war was going in Afghanistan and how the intelligence was not lining up to whatever their goals work and so we can just see the difference between what happened in like Flynn and what happened to the Ukraine gate whistle blower who now is being heralded by the last in the media some kind of hero we're not even allowed to mention his name now and is tracking him down to try to put together his political ties so just another example of the unfair treatment in any court justice between the last and anyone on the trump right six so I think one of the things that most Americans are wondering is why a why is this permitted to go on it seems like there must be some lives are some rules or some form of of that accountability that could be instituted the president is actually still the president regardless of the ridiculous faux impeachment or whatever is going on there are still uniform code of military justice for active duty members and then either you know civilian laws that at federal laws that cover these types of behavior when do we see some justice I don't know I get that question all the time and it's really frustrating to not have an answer just even as a journalist but just as an American who is so outraged by what happened to innocent people whether it's my clan whether it's car your age you I speak with routinely and I interviewed him a few years ago about what he had gone through based on the FBI's spying on him for a year and we just don't see any justice yeah in hope we see Andrew McCabe now is getting in each are at New York University probably being paid kinds of thousands of dollars for hearing to talk about fight to reform I mean this is an absolute joke and I do have faith and build our and John drowned those are the people who are eating the investigation into the investigators but look this is really dragging on the American people want someone held accountable thirty eight to be held accountable for what they've put this country through not just my clan but all of us really in a way and if we don't start seeing some charges in some indictments you know people are just really losing faith that this system will never be balanced again if someone has been held accountable for what they've done so I agree with you wholeheartedly in fact that your last sentence there is one that I've said many times that that's my biggest fear because at we have laws and we have a judicial system we have our government with the constitution of the bill of rights have a lot of different things in our society that are pillars that hold us back and they're kind of they're guide posts that we know we have to stay within those those bounds but there's also something that's invisible and it's the will of individuals here in this country and it's based on a trust of our institutions and when that trust in our institutions is obliterated then you have a lawless this that can creep in because certain people will be willing to roll the dice and gamble that they won't be prosecuted and that means less trust is so it's it's like and and nasty circle once we enter it it's hard to get out the circle is more people doing more things that they should normally be prosecuted for and getting away with that and more people saying well why should I obey the law why not join in in the lawlessness I want to benefit myself for my family members and so the the circle goes a year in your piece here you have a paragraph you talk about flan being interviewed in his interview being and hundreds of documents containing the Washington post's Afghanistan papers and you go through some really important statistics twenty three hundred US troops wounded more than twenty thousand troops a cost of one trillion and counting last year being the deadliest since two twenty fourteen twenty three American service members killed in twenty nineteen two soldiers killed by a roadside bomb just this month and that three quarters of the total US casualties in Afghanistan occurred on Barack Obama's watch which he he gets no credit for that like he only the credit for your Mike dropping for killing Osama bin laden but not for all of the deaths because it is horrible I have rules of engagement how do we get that out to people or or maybe to get people to put pressure on our elected officials that it's time to come back from there it's time to remove our troops well the good news and of course we can't trust the media to do this but there is a man running for president right now who had a front seat to the Obama administration's treacherous disaster in Afghanistan and that is Joe Biden now in fairness Joe Biden was one of the voices in the White House who did not want to who didn't support the surge of troops when Obama took office we were there about sixty thousand U. S. troops there he wretch that that up to a hundred thousand troops and that's when most of the killings occurred and in twenty ten twenty eleven and twenty twelve it really would be great and we have a good date night to have some reporters finally confront Joe Biden and about the Obama administration's with legacy deadly legacy in Afghanistan and especially based on some of these papers and interviews center and the Washington post series that articulate how is it president Obama and his top officials lied about what was happening in Afghanistan glossed over what was happening promising that things were improving when they weren't and you know I just saw report the other day civilian casualties in Afghanistan are some of their highest levels in the past twenty years this is an automatic it unmitigated disaster not just for the United States but for the people of Afghanistan they have a ratchet up there there opiate of production the produce ninety percent of the of the opiates supply in the world this is by every measure been a complete disaster we need to leave we need to bring our troops home and we need to ask Joe Biden some very serious questions about what he did as vice president eight years he bragged that he was the foreign policy adviser to Barack Obama that's why he became vice president he needs to answer not just have questions about the gas he has on the campaign trail but his responsibility for the debacle that was the Afghanistan war under the Obama administration okay so Julie it's our first time chatting and you just ratcheted yourself all the way up to the top of my favorites because if there's anything I've been waiting for dying for even it's to have someone anybody I don't care if it's like a man off the street who just read the questions up a piece of paper ask something tougher than so how much do you hate president trump or how much do you think president trump needs to be impeached no that softball garbage that they constantly do and I plan on watching tonight I know it's a waste of my time minutes I'll never get back but I'm gonna watch because I just want to know if anybody on the last they claim to care about last war they claim to want peace and just spread tolerance and all that garbage who's going to ask that question and and everyone of them should be made to answer what they would do with American lives they are currently being wasted in the Middle East what they would do with that money if they did bring the troops back what they return that to the taxpayers what they spend it somewhere else what what they do we deserve answers on this one and Stacy this is and you're right and this is another area I'm going to cover it's not just you know the money that we spend there and of course the lies you mean there is a twenty one I live outside of Chicago there's a twenty one year old boy I mean I'm fifty one so to me he's a boy twenty one year old from the suburbs right next to the one I grew up with who was killed in Afghanistan by a roadside bomb so these are this is tragic on so many levels but the corruption that went down under during the Obama administration is egregious Americans would be outraged when they start running just a little bit of what happened in that country how we were for lease not just by the Afghans but by our allied forces by our own our officers there by our own and they see so with this if you know you talk about Ukraine Ukrainian corruption this was nothing compared to what had happened in Afghanistan for almost two decades so it would really be nice if somebody would ask Joe Biden about that whether it's one of the interviewers or one of his challengers I'll put him on the hot seat especially in light of the fact that the exceptional expose in The Washington Post well you know what we can always hope and we can tweet about it while they're talking and possibly get ignored it will be on the record okay so it has been so fantastic to speak to Julie Callie political commentator senior contributor to American greatness thank you for your time today love talking to Stacey thanks so much all right to to chat and so we're gonna go to the break right now actually we're going to traffic.
