"Their little girl to a gym locally right. That's affiliated with usa gymnastics. So if this were to happen today given the resources that the star has now do you think you would have been able to dedicate the time and get the resources that you needed to do that. Reporting from indianapolis star. That's a difficult question to answer. Because i'm no longer there. But what i can say. Is that my colleagues who are still. There are incredible journalists in their passionate about doing this kind of work. And so i do think that the leadership there would believe in this project and still believe it was worth doing. I think something in going back and reading some accounts of their reporting and All it took. I think it's important might seem like getting into the nitty gritty for people that aren't in journalism but the fact that on this beat you found the story through sources that you had developed by being got a beat reporter is really crucial. And that's the thing that As resources become more limited in our field and especially in local media. That's the thing that could potentially be lost. Having people develop sources the way that you did. I think you see that in journalism as a whole right i mean think about how often you see one. Journalists story or investigation lead them into other stories or other investigations says incredibly common. And so we've been kind of circling this question the whole time. But i think a place to end as What do you think would provide a sense of closure For these women. That's clearly it. It still feels so far away. What do you think would would have to happen. And what might make them feel like. They're finally being heard and understood. I think you heard them say that. During the testimony what they think would help move. "Before we begin our next segment. We note that we will be discussing sexual abuse the testimony. On capitol hill yesterday was both angry and anguished for usa gymnastics athletes said law enforcement including the fbi ignored them and lied about them when they said they were abused by former team. Doctor and convicted sex offender. Larry nassar simone. Biles was one of the women who testified to be clear. I blame larry nassar and i also blame an entire system that enabled perpetrated his joining us. Now is marissa witkowski hausky. She's an investigative journalist for usa today. Who began covering the abuse scandal years ago at the indianapolis star. It's been six years since usa gymnastics heard the first allegations. And it's been five years since you and other journalists at the indianapolis star began reporting on this listening to yesterday's testimonies. What stood out to you. What lawmakers heard yesterday was the continued frustration of survivors. Who felt that their allegations against larry nassar had not been taken seriously enough. They had been calling for change in calling for accountability for the failures of usa gymnastics of the us olympic and paralympic committee and of the fbi former olympic gymnast michaela maroney in her testimony directly. Blame the fbi for not acting fast enough to stop by larry nassar. Here's her testimony. What is the point of reporting abuse if our own. Fbi agents are going to take it upon themselves to bury that report in a drawer.

"Welcome back, You might be following the horrific story of a New York police officer whose son Froze to death because he made him sleep in the garage. Well, officials say that they got a lot of calls are a lot of calls were made to report this boy's father and the girlfriend. Regarding the state of the home and the way they treated the Children. That eight year old boy froze and his biological mother says she warned CPS and family court repeatedly as well were with Michael Volpi. He's an independent investigator journalist who follows these cases and more, Michael Apparently, there were 17 emergency calls made and a bunch of them were thrown out. It's correct and calls made about things like having the kids sleep in in the garage, which is exactly what he died from and also the New York Post wrote an article they switched custody wasn't a hearing. It was like a conference in 2017 based strictly on the father's attorney, badmouthing the mother, and then I don't remember what they call it in other states. They call it a guardian it lighter but the equivalent of guardian like him also trashing the mall. Sir. The judge. Her last name is Zimmerman was bullying the mother the whole time telling her to shut up. And then they switch custody. Based on that non hearing in 2017 and you're right. The mother went everywhere, begging to protect her son that enjoy it. And now the son is dead. So how many kids are there and where they all with the father? I don't know how many kids there. You know what? I don't know. I think I know that this kid got custody. I'm not sure how many other Children they have. Well, apparently, they got reports that the kid's multiple. We're so hungry that they were eating out of the trash. And the mother said. If you don't remove these Children, they will die. And now this eight year old autistic boy died by freezing to death just in recent days. That's correct. And yes, that was one of the what you said about eating out of the garbage. That was one of the complaints. Social services were otherwise known as child protective services. That's who received these complaints. This is a total failure. God on Child Protective Services Party. Think they call it something else in New York, complete failure on their parts and the judicial system, But you're right. One of the complaints. Wass that the kids were so hungry. They were eating out of the trash. Remember how many of them were but it was something either 5 to 13 of these complaints or dismiss within a day. So not much investigation of all of these complaints, five of the 16 calls which included a shocking claim that the kids were so hungry, they out of the trash well reviewed for more than a day, with four quickly closed as duplicates New York Post reports from their reporting from the paperwork. And so the man's name. The father is Michael Valve, a his fiance, Anjali Angela Polina, and they're expected to be arraigned this week. Now look, they're facing murder charges, But the child is dead. And this sort of thing happens in family court all the time. The case that you and I talked about recently Carol Witkowski hearse, two year old son died in October of 2019. Very similar. I don't know how many complaints she made, but it was roughly as many. All ignored by its department of Child and Family Services in Illinois. This happened in Illinois Shame type of thing. This sort of thing happens all across the country and really the world and family courts with CPS where they ignore Evidence of abuse Legitimate evidence of abuse either ignored or downplay it or try to cover it up. Happens all the time on this child is dead, Michael When things like this happen this this has gotten a lot of press you report so many cases that get not a peep from the media..

"All right. Had now live from the annex wealth management studios at Radio City. Here's Steve skiff eating. Good morning, Wisconsin. Ted oh nine and the ten o'clock hour means, of course, the four ten sponsored by all right. Home and remodeling. If you want it done right. Call all rights and number one. Sexually said thing I'm fan of his alderman, Terry Witkowski announcing yesterday. He's going to step down may, thirtieth longtime Milwaukee alderman, supporter of an ally of mayor Tom Barrett's. No specific reason given that health concerns, he said it's time to retire. He said, I'm not getting any younger reiterated. It's not for health reasons. He says the city is in great shape joining him to make that announcement was was council president Ashanti Hamilton, first elected in two thousand three well, here we are twenty nine long career in public service in different positions within the city of Milwaukee. And I say this, it's hard to find really good elected officials Terry with Kalki is one of those people he cares about what he does he listens to his constituents. That's something that not every elected official does in the way that they should now he's not immune from controversy and I call them out a little bit last week. He made a comment about race getting in the way of the votes on the Milwaukee common council. But that's one man's opinion. Those are his words and I didn't think it was helpful in the current environment. Saying those types of things it cast a shadow on your fellow elected officials that fellow alderman, and I don't think it was a positive for the for that group. But I will say this about Terry would cost and I've met met him on a number of cases worked with them on some projects related to the ICU and a few other things. And he is a man of integrity. But when you're getting up there in years, like we all are, and he's, he's served his community so, well, there's a, there's a time in a moment where you say I've had enough and. Perhaps this is that moment for Terry with hausky. He's a great individual, and he represents the garden district on the southern part of Milwaukee city, Milwaukee area. I'm very close to being a resident of oak creek, and I can tell you that in that area. He's done some great work, and he's somebody who's recant scientious about what happens in his community and his neighborhoods. And he's somebody that's I think doesn't the right way. Now, the specifics, he won't leave office until June first. The shot to Hamilton has a choice. You can call a special election that would have to take place by November fifth state law. However, does not allow the appointment of a person of fill that seat in the interim. So there has to be some replacement done in an election context, so alderman, Terry would cow ski leaving become a council after sixteen years of great service. I think it'd be missed and I'm guaranteeing you that there'll be a lot of people that will for that job or or run for that job. It's a great area of the city. It's not an area that a lot of people focus on residential. There's obviously some of the airport area in there as well. But it great greats Representative city Milwaukee, whenever you see somebody like this leave it does put some pressure on the rest of them. Can you follow his lead follow his legacy? And he's somebody who's well respected. You think so? Yeah. You don't think not saying, you know, because when you have the kamikaze accounts of president stand up with him making his nonce, but there's some supportive even given all the comments. Made last week the comments he made last week their support for him. I think good leaders are appreciated. And he's one of those good leaders into Metairie, Witkowski. I wish you luck in the future again when we talk about public service. It's what you do in the spotlight what you do in tough situations. And I think in this case, Terry Witkowski as done a very good job, but it'd be a lot of people running for that position, when now that it's open. All right. Coming up number two of the four at ten he's called American Taliban. But what's going to happen now that he's set to be released that story next right here WTMJ, before ten sponsored by.

"I mean, they're they're like, they're unbelievable. You know? But I mean, every can't I think I've ever had. I think it was. So they're so fun. Yeah there. Okay. I was wondering. Very unhappy for a very long time. Chances are going to go away. Take it away Sabrina. Man, that's a hard one. You know, like if it's a really really big issue. There's probably a lot of magical work that can be done to to work with that. Because I when I do have people come to me with that type of thing. Usually there's a lot of stuff that needs to happen. There's usually banishing work that needs to happen. So let's say like, there's a potential that some kind of negative energy some nasty vibes from someone else has latched onto you. So we have to get rid of that. And then we'd have to do some protection work and articulate fi your positive energy. So that nothing else can kind of penetrate that latch onto you again. So it's man. Yeah. There's a lot of different steps to take with something. Like that. When someone feels like nothing is going, right? And everything is just you know for years, but I don't have anybody attached to me because I already had Marianne Witkowski heart goes was sure. Yeah. Exactly. So I did have something years ago. And. Go away. Donahue coming to our Columbus show. I am. I am. And you know, who who who told me to call them was Tommy producer super. So it's like, oh, definitely. I'm definitely coming in which we chatted for a minute about it. I definitely I'm coming. My sister. My sister in law. I was like so excited about it. See you in the meet and greet right after that. Right. Yeah. Excellent. Excellent. All right Sabrina. So in her particular case. It is what it is. Yeah. Do you want card for that? Or? Let's do a quick. Wow. Okay. Okay. So I of the we got to reverse again, you guys got some blockages going on for sure. So we have the reverse six of swords the night of one's right side up and leave I've of one reversed. So okay. So lot going on here. These are some really difficult cards. So the first thing I want to say is don't give up. I know you might feel really exhausted and tired sometimes but the other night here. So the nights again are all about movement, and this is a night that's around element of fire. And so it's going to be really important for you to connect with that that drive just get yourself up in the morning. Keep going don't give up the other thing. I wanna say is that the six of Ford's reverse makes me think that there's a transition that you need to take that you've been avoiding. So that might be a move that might be career. Chef that might be letting someone I go from your life. I let the friendship or family member or something like that. I don't know exactly what it is hard to say with only three cards. But there is a transition that you need to go through in order to get yourself on blocked. You're just resisting it right now. Yeah. They I wanna say is the five of one's reverse the car that's very much about conflict. So what I would love to for you moving forward is to really try to remove yourself from situations where there is endless conflict, but doesn't achieve anything. If you notice that happening step away from it and protect your energy because that type of thing is totally going to drain you and totally going to contribute to you feeling. This kind of copy way that you're describing so don't out to try to remove yourself from these different situations. Trying to think about what those things might be. All right stick with us. We're gonna come back with final phone calls in a moment with Sabrina, Scott. The which I guess I could call her the good witch. Her website is linked up at coast to coast, AM dot com.
