"Wiscon- diary of an unemployed actor with me milo denison each week speak with up and coming actors actresses and filmmakers about the entertainment industry. We discuss success. Failure share a few tips to inspire those of you who have a passion for the creative arts week. I'm actually not speaking to anybody. Because this is the season. One finale drum roll here you do a drum. Roll it a season finale something anyway. It is the end of season one. I started doing this show in march been posting one every week since then. I've spoken to thirty six people. One of those interviews was to people at the same time lot of actors. Lotta great actors in the us in ireland in the uk. I've spoken to a few writers directors. I've spoken to a folks polar a sound editor so quite a few fascinating interviews. So if this is the first thing you're listening to why would say go back and listen to some of the stuff that is where all the action is. I'm going to be taking the next couple of months off from the show as it's kind of ruling into the winter holiday season and Doing a show. Every week does take a lot of time and a lot of like the bigger podcasts. Out there they actually have kind of crew behind the scenes that you don't see they have their producers they have editors have booking agents that kind of stuff so the on's on radio talent they more or can kind of show up and do the interview and focus on that this i do everything myself. It is literally a one man. Show i find my guests ranged times to talk to them. I record it. I edit it everything across the board. It's all me promoted that kind of stuff and It does wear you out especially if you're trying to do a normal job for an actor that's of course as much acting work as you can get or me. Do photography on the side. I do other various side gigs and do a writing as well So published a couple of bucks and So yeah definitely takes a lot of time to put these shows on so it's time for me to take a couple of months off and take a break I've been thinking about the show over this past year and kind of the quality of the show. And how can i improve that. If you've been listening you know that. Obviously i record everything over zoom so i do or molay which has one. Big downside is that we're dependent upon a the internet connection of whoever speaking with that..

"A western science tries to leverage modern techniques to explain indigenous passed through things like soil sampling and carbon dating and the examination of artifacts pulled from the ground. They also assigned terms to these things of the past and a common term used is called paleo. And when you look up this definition you find this from the Merriam-Webster's Dictionary dictionary. They write the first known use of the word paleo is quote borrowed from new Latin polly-o. Also borrowed from the Greek also pilaeo combining form to mean old or or long standing or also ancient. It's an adjectives derivative of Palais to mean long since in the past month of Uncertain origin. Okay, so that would seem to fit with the use of this term in modern art archaeology right off, but then archaeologists add a word to it that of Indian. And here's where I in my opinion the problem begins often archaeologists are employed by cultural resource management companies or crms and these companies missions involve inventorying archaeological sites evaluating them and sometimes mitigating the adverse effects of development projects and Construction in this also includes Consulting with Native American tribes. So to demonstrate sort of common language that we might find inside a an archaeological survey. Here's one written by an archaeologist who works for our CRM company now, of course publicly here. I'm not going to reveal the company name or the archaeologists that wrote this but they wrote quote. The song is known human occupation in the Connecticut River Valley dates to the paleo-indian. Of 10000 B P or what's known as before present or you know current time today right after the retreat of the Wiscon Ian Glacier mobile bands of hunter-gatherers occupied to Central in this cave, Connecticut warming Trends and an increase in forested areas lead to a decline in these large mammals, which included Mammoth Mastodon dead. elk peccary giant beaver and caribou The hidden site which is an archaeological site. They're referring to is a Paleo Indian site that represents a short-term. Camp of perhaps wage a weeks duration close quote. So in those two brief examples, they contain the term paleo-indian used to describe two things number one a period of time and number eighty-two a type of archaeological excavation site. Now this survey also then transitions to another time. They Define as the Archaic Period where the date range of 9500 years to 2700 years before present and they describe this time. This way quote the early Archaic Period begins in ninety five hundred years ago in marks. It continued adaptation to the post-glacial environment. The smaller Boreal and Forest Animal populations are firmly established and these posts paleo-indian groups appeared to be defining territories and implementing technological changes. So finally hear the term paleo-indian is used to describe assumed human groups. But there are a few problems using this term this way and it's personally driving me crazy. Okay,.

"I think like the number one thing that I would change about these two players is Joel embiid can't shoot anymore mid-range Jumpers. That's the that's the number. One thing that I want to see change if that happens, this offense just goes up to a completely different level because he bails out defenses over and over and over again in part because he's out of shape I assume watching on television So I think that that's just another intriguing wrinkle hair and docks complimentary value to Maury. For sure and I also think it's interesting though because DOC WISCON- getting criticized by a lot of clippers, followers and writers analysts because he wasn't following the analytics and the numbers right? Like he was playing Montreal Herald even though he was playing terribly in the lineups were performing poorly with him on the court during the playoffs he was in playing Zellerbach enough. Like I wonder you know in a different power dynamic if Maurice, the GM, the clippers, he's looking at all this stuff in real time that might play out differently right. There might be like an edict of like look you have to do this or we have to do this. This is going to be our path to success. was there anybody in the clippers who could kinda get that message through to doc or Docx out final? Say I think that will be something that we could track here I'm with you on the mid range shooting. This team absolutely needs to cut the fat out. And so I would expect that if they do keep 'em be to be sort of you know one of the very first steps for them now. One of the questions nick had here was, will Elton Brands Promise that neither superstar will be traded this year? Become a moot point. I think on that one. Whether or not they actually do it I think. I mean, if your team traded for Darryl mortgage, if you were a player, wouldn't you just assume that anybody could be traded the very next day is in that sort of his reputation that kind of comes with them. I mean, I. Don't know if he needs to come out and make some sort of a statement if he really is intent on kind of following through with Elton Brands Promise but. You know if that's the organization stands for whatever reason. But I guess if I were a player on that team I would just assume that I would be traded at a moment's notice. If I was a player in the NBA that's what I would assume. That's what you have to assume and but if don't, you think it's a little bit more pronounced with him. I mean I think they said seventy seven trades during his tenure in Houston. Kind of the second most during that time period, he traded all sorts of stars including Chris Paul who clearly thought he was blindsided a at. The at the moment that that happened go back and other just really quick changes of direction with high profile level players like I guess if I'm Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid, I'm going to be like Hey Elton I'm not gonNA get traded and it'd be like, wait a minute Elton Brand told me I was wasn't supposed to be treated me like Oh Yeah Daryl Morey of course I got traded. Yeah. I. See your point for sure I also think that going back to the question. is Elton's promise that neither superstar will be moved a moot point. Yes it is a moot point. No one cares what Elton brands say anymore like it's like, no. You wouldn't bring in. Daryl Morey if look at Daryl Morey, if he were to say publicly that he's not trading either guy..

"I on every Friday on a pub trivia quiz because of course, we can't leave the house. So and that's zoom and yeah it's this mess of seven different services that you have to jump through to get to the Trivia. Quiz. But I found it funny. The the zaps, the Zoom APPs that they announced I remember a couple of weeks ago I was listening to a podcast and they take podcast I said. Zoom is really dropped the ball. They've got so much kind of mindshare at the moment and they're not innovating fast enough to launch new products while the got the moment in the sun and I thought, what are you talking about like I'm I'm zoomed fourteen hours a day and the site has never dropped a connection ones like that's innovation itself the up time that they've got. Let's just work on that until we get through this whole pandemic thing, and then you can start to roll that some new services and it's good to say that they're doing that you can actually you could also ask question whether or not. It will be as viable an idea if things open up more fully because there'll be less demand on say performers who do ticketed concert style things over zoom they'll just do tours and and and so if we really are getting to a place where we can congregate in that way again, then this was for not but maybe it's no big deal for them. They're just creating kind of a middleman processor and. And taking advantage of it while against. Good. Yeah, it's it's amazing to me that that would be like, gosh why zoomed accidentally captured all of our market share and we all are sort of feel forced to use them. Why aren't they making more money off me and here they go Because honestly, like this isn't new the idea of doing virtual events and charging for them as you mentioned Sarah, there's event right and others out there but it's because everybody has zoom that people are like, oh well, if I can do zoom that, I, know people show up because there's hardly a person left at least in our audience who hasn't used zoom at least once in the Matt last several months. So if there's a thing on zoom, you're more likely to go like Oh. Yeah I have Zuma I could attend that thing it sounds kind of fun I mean sky you could do nerd tackler over zoom. Yeah we were. We've actually talked about or we've been talking about doing kind of. From home blitz gone like I did back in two, thousand, twelve, hundred, skip wiscon- thought a little bit about doing something like that and it is a format as much as I hate their sound quality that the video part of it is is covered like you can create a panel of the hundred people if you WANNA do or smaller bigger whatever pretty light footprint. The use cases are are pretty obvious for it or for something like it I kind of wish somebody else was more neck and neck with them right now. But maybe some of this is just the name right now that's just A. That's exactly it I mean it. You mentioned that the audio quality is not that great anything recorded from zoom is awfully compressed. Trust me. I've I've tried to audio engineer a few these. Great interviews otherwise and I so bad and there are other there are other solutions but there are a little bit more limited..

"There are a lot of people who feel a little aimless in the modern economy, and the Republican party in particular lacks, a clear sense of what it should do in terms of economic policy, and is kind of grasping for for a new idea, and they are attempting to supply one, but this idea that government should supply. Meaning to people is is I think a very bad and very dangerous idea that we should that. We should oppose pretty vigorously. Oh, struck in the clip that we played from Tucker him just sort of saying, well, you know, we we need leaders to help deliver this and obviously right now. Can't beat Democrats. And you wonder I mean, he's talking about market fundamentalism as a classic like George Soros, a word from beginning in the late nineties, you know, sort of talking about market fundamentals are going around the world and with all their investment banking, and you know, free flows of capital. So it was a self patriots situations far as a source was concerned, but that's all they care about. And because of that they're doing wrong white. I I saw vision from Tucker that is not that distinguishable here from Elizabeth Warren type of Democratic Party thing. He could this be part of a realignment. Or is there enough of a a sense of you know, I wanna country you might recognize when you get old of feeling that it gets more into kind of Ethno populism here. So I think that thing that anchors Tucker's vision in conservatism is that his pundit mental unit is the family, right? Like he keeps coming back to that as the fundamental unit and. You know to be it's sort of a fair cop to say like us libertarians us market fundamentalists like that's not our fundamental unit. Usually, you know, there are some exceptions to people who who I think make a very compelling case for how market support families are help families achieve their own ends best. But mostly individualists is what you're going to get over here on the libertarian side. And I think it makes it very big difference. Because. You're Elizabeth Warren cz are certainly not going to cop to the fundamental unit being the family. Maybe don't think it is almost certainly don't think it is. It's unclear they might think the financial unit is the community. That's a possibility might be the individual probably not the other option for conservatives is the nation. Right. And Tucker is blending the family in the nation here, which is a classic th or -tarian move. So I think I think that's the thing that keeps Tucker's monologue outside of just you know, what you would what you would otherwise here out of the mouth of a of a more left wing populist, but the actual policy prescriptions. Aren't that different? I mean, there is there's sort of a question of how you would tweak the algorithms. You know, how what exactly are you promoting? And I think in those cases, he would favor stuff that makes traditional families more likely to survive and be the predominant force in society. But other than that. I mean, you're quite possibly mean, though, it me you mean in terms of policy. Do we to be in child tax credits? It means but all of that seven. I know you're not supporting it. But it's it, you know, the reason why marriage rates have gone day on. And it's the same reason why the number of children per is. Because all the. For the corporations instead of. According yet. No. I mean, I think that's true though. It's at their, you know, that women have more options, including, you know, not to get married or not to have three children, and instead have one or two, and this is where I think both the right and the left get lost in terms of they are trying to as as Peter wiscon- of suggesting they're trying to lay over a template from the past onto the future and make it stay this way. And the the fundamental question isn't whether or not what's going on is good or bad. Really?.

"Washington comes to talk. AM six thirty. This is the Ben Shapiro show. We're going over the biggest stories of the year Honey, west big, President Trump ban, and he showed up at the White House. And things got crazy as I've always said but yesterday, the president of the United States lived by the Konya because Kanye west came to the White House. So I think that he knows a lot about politics. I don't think he's read tons of books. But do I think that he has a unique perspective on the world that I do. And do I think that he has every right to express that perspective Justice anyone else would? Absolutely. And I appreciate more than anything. Kanye west has basically said, look, I'm an individual. I'm not just a black man in your category. I'm an individual my own thoughts and experiences and feelings, and that allows me to think outside the box with regard to my politics without you're trying to club me into place like a baby seal. I appreciate that. I appreciate where's around the maga- hat, and he says that this basically just saying to the world, I can think for myself. That's a message that I like and appreciate and think is actually deeply important because even if it's coming from who I don't think is world's most knowledgeable about politics. That's not a message that requires you to be all that knowledgeable about politics saying, I like to get more information, I like to think for myself, and I'm not going to be the person you think I ought to be simply based on the color of my skin, deeply, deeply important message from Connie. Has what's funny is very upset at Konya like all well, what's you actually doing except showing Trump Kim Kardashian got a woman freed from prison. What have you done lately, I agree with Trump's decision on that analysis? Marie johnson. Who was leading a drug ring. It turns out, but she was pardoned by President Trump because congress west and Kim Kardashian lobbied, it is that simple and Kanye west has been pushing hard for criminal Justice reform says Kim Kardashian and President Trump is about to overrule Jeff Sessions on criminal Justice reform in the same way, largely because of congas lobbying so gay by extending a hand actually received a hand in return. Which is why you saw that mean from predator going day? Day of the of the Arnold Schwarzenegger, arm and the Apollo creed arm, you know, the car weathers arm locked in the in the Muslim brace. That's what you saw yesterday at the White House. So it was wild. I mean, let's not pretend this was a meeting of brilliant minds on serious issues. West Donald Trump in the Oval Office in the scene directly out of ideology. But was it important for the culture that there'd be somebody in a prominent position to say? Yeah, I'm allowed to think for myself. Yeah. That's that's important steps. Anyway, Khania goes to the White House, and again, I don't like celebrity politics. But this is the world we have chosen this is where we live. I I hate celebrity politics when it was Obama is mocked the crap out of them for this sort of stuff. I hated it when it was Hillary Clinton used to mock her incessantly for this sort of stuff, I don't like it from Republicans either. But I don't like celebrities in the Oval Office, and I don't like the meeting with the president. And I don't like all of the pomp and circumstance and show. And all that believe me, I don't. But since this is the world we have chosen and the world. Get chosen to live in it is hypocritical for folks on the left to suggest great one Obama. Does it terrible. When Trump does anyway shows up the White House and things got why things got really wild. Because it turns out that Connie is a wild dude say here, he is in the Oval Office wearing his hat, and the press are just eating this stuff up the press, the very serious press who say, no, we must treat the president with the presidency in the Oval Office of all sorts of respect they're eating this up. They love it. They couldn't love anything more secure wiscon- yesterday saying that Trump did not expect a crazy Konya fair enough areas. Jerry right now, he.
