If you turn your wipers on, they're making a ton of noise. But there's still someone working yet. Brand news that unlike all the cars that we have over Cambridge is lunar vehicles. Yeah, Yeah, And there you turn him on all years. Wiper motor. You don't even hear him running the glass. Nice. So, Yeah. So if you hear in your wipers, making all kinds of noise, why they're on and like, Yeah, it's probably past timeto replace those things. Yeah, because we don't use them very often down here and it is so hot and I cooked. Yeah, you might have to replace him a lot more often than you need to down here. But if you see the bottom is starting to fray, or like, Terry said, they're making a lot of noise. When they go across the window. They should not make any kind of freebie. Nine. All you should hear the wiper motor going to be O outside and you've got your wife resigned. You shouldn't hear that screeching noise as they're going across the windshield. So if you Hearing that are seeing frayed edges on the end of him and stuff like that. You definitely definitely need to route need to replace them and take it from me from experience. You don't want to be on her long road trip or something and drive into the middle of the storm and have bad wiper blades. Yeah, because Ivy Did that too many times. Yeah. Phone lines are open to 10737. 1200. If you have a question about your vehicle, give us a call. Let's go to the phone lines and talk to William Online one, William, Thanks for calling under the hood. How can we help you today? Yes, I have. Ah 2009. Chevrolet 2500 for will draw up the 71 truck. And it's been making AH, I can audible noise when I slow down like like it's the rear differential or maybe the transfer case or something like that. But it's only when I when I Guess the years would catch up with themselves like back lashing, slowing the truck down and kind of getting worse. And I'm wondering what what it isse. So let me see if I get this right. You drive in. You got your foot in the gas. You're accelerating. The noise isn't there, but as soon as you let off the gas and the vehicle just kind of rolling on its own. Cruising? Yeah. When the engine starts slowing it down. Yeah. Yeah, that's more than likely. Differential. Um, that's a ring opinion issue or opinion bearing issue. So the first thing I would look at special on Chevrolets is your the yoke where your drive shaft goes into the differential. See if you're losing any fluid in that area like opinion still leaking. If you have There's no there's no obvious leaking, but I did. I did put Whatever gear or will they recommend it or it specified and put some in there till you know kind of rules out the top. And it made absolutely nothing. A sports changed the noise. No, it won't know. Once in the many miles around that truck. Quite a few. Thanks to 30. Yeah, here, more than likely looking at rebuilding that differential. Oh, and what would that cost me? If you want to give us a call to shop on Monday. We can definitely working up an estimate on that, Um, those things price, different ranges gear ratios, and what not the best thing to do is bringing in less. Pull the cover on it for you. And we can actually check the ringing pinion gear and make sure those air good because that's gonna be a big difference in cost. If it's just a bearing kid. It's like half the price of if you go through it all and do the ring opinion gears and everything. Um yeah, but if it was a bad ring opinion, typically under acceleration, you're gonna hear the howling noise when you let off of it. Perfect. Okay? More than likely has got it bad. Bury it starts the engine starts to slow down. The vehicle. It makes that noise. Yeah, it's more than likely a bad opinion bearing but yeah, you're more than welcome to bring it by the shop will put up on the lift. No charge. Check it out for you Get you get you an idea. I mean, you know, make sure it's not tire, something else you know, causing the noise, but To me home. Thanks. I got I got new tires and just make a little news because they're kind of altering, but it's definitely not that and definitely a gear type of noise. What you're describing actually sounds just like opinion bearing going out. Mm hmm. Yeah, so that would be better than the whole thing I know for sure, but I mean, you got 230,000 miles on again. We're going to pull the cover on it. We want to look at the pinion gear and ring gear and make sure there's not a bunch of wear on him. You also have spider gears inside that third member make sure those aren't pitted or anything coming apart. And you know if any of that stuff, Warren, that's the time to do it. It's all got to come out to do the bearing, kid. You might as well go ahead and, you know, change those parts while you're in there. Okay, so you can change it all down, having to remove the whole darn thing. Yeah. No, we We build it right in the truck. Oh, yeah. Well, thank you. I will call you. That sounds great. Okay. Awesome from right. Thanks for the phone call. All right, William. Thanks for the phone call. Phone lines are open to 10737 1200..

"Like the vehicle and boom. I accidentally hit the wiper blades. And they were frozen and boom. The morning burnout. There goes the wiper motor. Yeah, you know, if not the wiper transmission either wed. But this time a year, wiper transmissions and wiper motors were replaced in a very large amount because of that. Man. I went Toso some junk yard, down one here in Maryland. Crazy raise or something. Got it with a man. But he you know, you have to take off. You have to take off all that all that stuff there in front of the wipers, you know, on the dash or whatever. Sure, it's not an easy job. The cowl. Whole unit has to come off. Yes, sir. Yeah, And then you got it If you if you mess it up, you got to get the right, you know, wiping correctly, You know, Right? What? Of course, So it Parks? Fine. Yep. Yeah, twice back up in the middle of the windshield That's not good can easily turn it backwards and Yeah. My friend is like this great knows how to change like a theory. Knuckle and reckon opinion, all that But me who doesn't know anything. You know, I was helping him like writing about. You know, Anyway, you'll break her bar and all that kind of thing for the steering knuckle, But he had it all set. Except he just had it like under native degrees out 180 degrees. Oh, yeah happens a lot, and I was able to help him with that man. I'll tell you one thing. The greatest thing you mentioned has happened in the last 25 years. There's cameras on phones. Because you can take pictures before you take things apart. And it makes it so much easier. And of course, we had cameras before, But ah, lot of times you couldn't get the pictures right away. Unless you had a Polaroid of you know the kind of stuff so it's nice that we could take a picture and look at it right away. And it makes a whole lot easier when you're doing jobs like that. Especially the first time. Yeah, Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I mean, In a picked up so many little tips from you that I just can't thank you enough, man. Well, thank you, Roger. Appreciate that very much. "Kind of worried me open. The hood The only thing i noticed was a one of the ground wires going to the alternator which had been taped together had come apart So i sat there for a few minutes. The bay i mean the bridge police came. They sent the tow truck but the car started back up ahead he had stalled. Yeah all the everything electrical everything on and then. It all came back on after you fix this wire. No no didn't touch anything smell okay. Just checking the facts. They had three inches. That i had just went out the window. It came back on the strange thing is is it blew out all the brake lights and the turn signal lights i got it now i just to now i took it into the shop and they looked at the m the m meter and kind of check the wire connection yeah and i had just replaced the windshield wiper motor so they kind of checked all around there to make sure hadn't done anything wrong yourself. Yeah yeah good and Got to would work on it number but the thing is is now the the the radio has this buzzing. It just gets worse when you when you accelerate does. Yeah the what do you think happened. Everything else is now working again. What do i'll tell you what blue okay a capacitor capacitor. And i'll tell you where the capacitor was. It's probably in the. It's probably floating around san francisco bay now it was attached to the alternator. A radio suppression capacitor. Well used to be up above rephrase. It used to be a radio suppression capacity. I bet attached to the back of the altar de does that answer. Most it does meet most often. I am going to tie it. All to the rating waiting with my uniform electrify field theory. I just want you to know that. I'm watching you all because i had all the theories you had His for explaining everything well with the capacitor off. The capacitor is the result okay. What happened was the thing overcharged momentarily. Fault with the voltage regulator. Nice nice k which may still be at fault. That explains why the bulbs blew out. That explains why your flux capacitor blue. You had a surge of output from the alternator okay which blew everything up Blue lights out okay and at the same time blues capacity. That's why your radio has the meaning in the sixty cycle home or whatever cycles the thing is putting out and you need to probably replaced the voltage regulator because that is the dangerous component in the system. Here okay so. I think that'll solve the problem. And you need to get a new radio suppression capacity but you may have blown something in the radio. But i don't know what's in radios if there were not a capacitor laying there then. It's possible that you did just blow something in the radio because of the surge of current voltage right because radios. Don't like twenty five volts. But what the heck. It's only a seventy four dark exactly but you can replace that regulate yourself. That's easy but i tell you i probably would take it to a shop. That has all the equipment because they may be more going on than you think anyway. They replace the alternator. When i took it in because that was bad. Oh this is that was before this occurred after. Yeah they they said oh. We can't figure out really what's wrong with your alternators months. we'll send you an alternator. Exactly okay these guys seem like they knew what they were doing. Would that have any effect. I would let that interfere with my It's easy to misdiagnose alternators regulated. I know what the question. I asked the wrong question. How old is the guy that we're all was the guy who worked on it. Probably forty marginal laid. We'll we'll go to late forty forties. Then it's okay keepdriving. You're all set dory. Get the radio fix. You can hear us better okay. Good am though later one. Eight eight eight car talk or one. "With us. I'm merely how are you dave. I'm doing great. How are you doing better than i. Deserve forty live. I actually were from dalton georgia okay. Well let's not too bad a run up to nashville now. Welcome in your hair to do a debt. Free scream essay. How much you paid off. Twenty nine thousand. How long did this take twenty month. Good for you and your range of income. During that time it was twenty eight thousand and okay. What are you living and actually an analyst at a private university. Okay cool so what caused this to happen merrily. Why did you wake up all of a sudden. Say it's gotta get outta here. Well actually it was all student loans. And so whenever i graduated i looked at how much i owed and i thought that's a big number but didn't think too much about it and moved out on my own and for about a year in an apartment and one day i was going to go to work but it was raining outside inside decided to turn on the windshield wipers. But they didn't work. And so i took it to a repair shop and it was going to be three hundred dollars to get new windshield wiper. Motors why motors. And so three hundred dollars was something that i could pay for. But it was actually a lot for me. And i thought this is big if i claim that i can live on my own and be financially stable. Then why is three hundred dollars such a big deal to me so that was a big deal but then shortly after about a year of living my own my lease was up in my apartment and then i realized i'm living in an unsafe area of town so i decided to move back to my parents house for about a month or two and then i was walking in the woods i just talking to the lord and walking the dog and god brought out the the idea of just paying off my student loans and said you know what are you talking about like. That's so much money i don't. I don't know if i could do that and still live at my parents house for awhile. And he said back know merely. I know you can do this. Because you've got grit and that was the first idea of thinking like maybe it is possible. And so i went home and i talked to my mom about the idea and of course she was onboard. She loves me and so yeah once she said it was okay decided to well that was right whenever everyday millionaires released and server that cover to cover and that really started lighting the fires from they are just created a little time line and it was gonna be augosto twenty twenty and then it ended up being with all the momentum that carries up with it how to go fill amazing. It feels like genie from aladdin at the very end whenever aladdin shows the lamp genie. And he says genie. You're free and then the shackles fall off. And he doesn't know what to do with. It feels a lot like just that moment of true freedom. Wow very cool very cool all right so we've got. How old are you. I am twenty nine today. Well happy birthday. Thank you show. Twenty-seven-year-old is listening to us right. Now do this twenty months. And they're saying. I wonder if i should do this. What do you tell them. How do you tell them that you got out of that. What the secrets out. Yeah the biggest thing is just start with your foundation you know. Why do you want to get out of debt. Do you want to reduce stress. Do you want to start building legacy or their people coming up behind you that you want to be able to support and then also don't be afraid to get your hands dirty. Just take on whatever side job you can. I worked every side hustle. I could think of that would just give me a little bit of extra cash over time. What was your most productive the shadow so that made you the most money definitely cleaning a chiropractic office twice a month. Oh okay yeah. Oh yeah and then also helping teach dance in the evenings at a local dance studio Very good yeah. Yeah and then the last thing is just making sure that you have a community driven outlet you know setting a goal like this is just not for me. It's not attainable by myself. So i needed a community and that's what i would encourage for anybody else. I mean i had Unity dance troupe. In cleveland and we would go there and rehearse weekly for fall and spring productions and That i had people walking through the debt free journey with me starting day one and carried all the way through to the finish line. I'm super thankful for every single one of them there. What happens when you get some people around you. You know it it just helps you stay motivated And you can look to him even when you get tired right injury momentum back they were definitely with me whenever life happened and they were also with me whenever the highs happened as well so it really joyous moments so proud of you mom with you to cheer you on a very good very good. Mom was obviously a cheerleader. Yes they were obviously cheerleaders. You gotta have cheerleaders corner. It's not good that man be alone. Exactly you know. We're not designed for that. Were designed to be in community. That's why we've got tied into ramsey plus and into financial peace university may get part of that. So yeah yeah. There's nobody alone.

"And you know sixteen has custody and so why why then can we use oil. That is so thin it's because the tolerances in today's engines are so tight and that means that the engine last longer but it also means that the engine puts out fewer emissions. Because there's no combustion pressure not not not as much getting by the rings because the. Rings are tighter seal. So it's it's really amazing to me at the technology that's going on in engines and I'll tell you a fob. Yo producer and. He's on his second preists. He put an reasons on his second because of the first one it got totaled. I mean although it had some pretty rough look and paint on it I I joke with him about all the time but he he put two thousand miles on that vehicle and the only thing you really ever did to. It was a put a battery in it at two hundred thousand miles. So it's just amazing so you'll you'll have a long enjoyable relationship and use out of that press we have replaced an ABS module in one of those previous cars and that was rather expensive because we had to take Jonny had to take the windshield wiper motor and a cow apart and part of the engine and You know I got a picture of him. What his hand waving from the inside of the car through the whole in a firewall where the mass owner was because it was all one unit that was expensive. It was expensive repair. But that's about the only that and a front wheel bearing at sixty thousand miles on another previous or the only two and a couple of water pump jobs or the only two that I can think of that Were expensive repairs but anyway. Hey thanks for your call and and Any other questions. I'll be dancer. I got one more quick question for you to get answers for me. The transmission oil dipstick. I've been on Youtube. I've been in the owners manual. Nothing addresses where it is. Does it have a transmission? Oil dipstick hit does not. They manufacture point via manufacturers have stopped using dipstick almost all together and the way we service a transmission Well there's two different ways to services transmission and when I come back from the break.

"It's kind of a rancher. And he's to work on my mom's car all the time. And he was explaining to me that when he popped the hood, of course to hood is not where the engine is in that carts in the back. It's inside the car real. Yeah. But the hood when he popped it is where the spare and the wiper motor and in the wiper spray, and all that reservoir and everything his said he was like shocked and appalled when he learned that the wiper spray was propelled by air in the spare tire. And I was like, oh, yeah. Like a member hearing that once or him saying at once but still being like. What a weird conceit like it was like, well, don't you run the air out of your spared? It's like well you have to fill it up like occasionally. And it was like God damn. I mean, how cheap do you have to be? But are there other cars that do that? If you blow a spare too bad, weather, you really screwed because. Right. All right. You've got a flat spare and you need it. Right. And either, you know, either gonna clean the windows or not. So we sat. It's a task to. It's like you kinda like unscrew some. Yeah. Right. I mean, so we sat sat we talked about my mom's VW square back for extended period of time super long. That's all we did was talk about her VW square. I prolong time which is weird and the whole time. I was thinking I got a air cooled car. Yeah. It's more valuable, maybe. Twice valuables. VW back. Well, I I'm not gonna not exactly but close enough just for the sake of discussion, we'll round out. Yeah. So I was like it is, but but it perfectly encapsulated my relationship because we are sitting here doing a deep dive on your two thousand dollar car from nineteen seventy four we just kept talking and talking about eventually we got into like what's going on with their house and that their Levin hundred square foot house, and blah, blah, blah. But we never talked about anything fun or interesting or cool. And again, I'm always. So he's funny over to you or you went there. Oh, they come over to me. I can't I'm not going in there. Didn't want to talk about the house. They always there. They'll say like, oh, this looks good for having a party or something. But they keep it pretty pretty generic. But I realize that the whole point is to talk about nothing. So we just talk about nothing. But this time we really talked about nothing. It was weird. And then every once in a while they'll go like if they say, so what do you do I go? I just I make documentaries than I do car stuff do some car races, and do some documentaries and they go, okay. Jay, never go. Like, what is the car documentary Val? What kind of movies are? Now, we never get into that part. We just get into the part where generically talking about what you doing. Did you find how that mechanism works yet? Just it's really popular in Beatles. Beatles. Did it Beatles. Did it too? Yeah. And just they use air pressure from the spare tire. So they is actually purposely over inflated to comedy this function where you get the car. But yeah, there's a are from the tire that would. That's what would power the windshield washers. Interesting. It's hooked up all the time. Yeah. And I don't use a spare you gotta plug it. I you must have to undo. It must have some sort of finger. You know, some sort of narrowed finger thing or something not leak. Oh, you know, it's got to be leaking. Like, the valve would go into the steering column before even getting to the Wichita. So like if the if the plastic of the valve really deteriorate your your lap would have wind chill on it. Like, I kind of get I liked them. A guy ask sense of the whole thing..

I can't stand that just turn your lights on. So everybody else can see you. So hopefully, we'll get where we need to go without any further ado, Karen, you have different advice for me. I don't even know if I was really really trying to figure this out. You people are not helping at all with all this different advice on windshield, wipers, Karen. Well, it happened to me my windshield. Wiper one of them worked one of them. Didn't it was after I busted not knowing it was froze to the window. So I ended up going mechanic shop. They were told me I was lucky they could tighten it. But not to make sure you take your windshield wipers off because if you do that, it messes up the mechanics. So wait, wait, wait. Now, you have to dig your windshield wiper all the way off. No, no, oh. Okay. Because. After so many times it ruins the next about three hundred bucks. And that's just to get your windshield wipers, scope back and forth. Okay. So now, I've realized now I'm gonna have to get a new windshield. Wiper motor. Thanks. Dave. Nah. Dave had nothing to do way. You break your ice. I will break it before you turn on your windshield wiper. I've always been told that I'm excellent at breaking the ice cap. Karen? Thank you. Appreciate it. Three zero three seven three eight five eighty five chip you are on KOA NewsRadio. It's wanna add a conversation. You had with the gentleman about the snow plows. Snowplows now on the freeway what they do is. They generally go in tandem because they do one at a time the cards gets moved snow around. So probably the guy gets in in between. Right where there could be like plows that are getting together to make the big sweet. Your wage should. Yeah. You know? The thing everybody, and I'm not knocking the guy who called in earlier to complain. I'm not in any way, shape or form. But I understand that feeling of being somewhere and going do why have they not plowed? And you you have to sort of put in context how many roads are out there. You know? How much highway there actually is. And we do have a finite number of flowers. I don't know if it's one hundred or three hundred I don't know what the actual number is. But we all have to be a little more patient, especially because the snow just started, you know, here in the metro here in the metro just started. But yeah, I get it when you don't see any activity. It does drive you crazy. I mean, we we live in a neighborhood where I think our neighborhood contracts with someone to come clear, the roads, and they do a very good job. I think that's part of our HOA. I don't know. But they do a very good job. So when they aren't there immediately. I find myself getting testy, you know, they're normally so good that I I look out and I'm like. Elliot. I take it. I take it personally like they decided to just screw me over that day until I realized that that's insanity. And I walked by self back from the ledge right on and the other thing I'd like to add is the worst peeve that. I have people that don't rush the snow up there. Crazy. And then you get the snow bomb when you're in traffic behind them. I I'm Rick unless you are elderly or somehow, otherwise physically limited if you don't get the snow off the top of your car, you suck. I'm just gonna say you suck that you're the problem with your your the thing that's going to cause our entire society to collapse. If you don't get the snow off the top of your car there. I said it right on. Hey, you two man you too. Well, we Dave Dave as a question. Go ahead. Dave, I've always kept the snow on top of my car. Stop it by device because I was told or heard at one point back in the day that the added weight helps give you more stability who is killing us all the stupid crap. Yeah. Who said that guy who did like to get the snow off his own car? So he's like Dave's had with garbage just so he doesn't think. So the way I usually do it is take the windshield wipe that clean and then a little bit on top of the windshield on the roof. So it won't fall down. See how would expire on yourself? It doesn't fun though. Days there. Yeah. Chip. I appreciate the phone call. This is a scandal. Dave how much do you think that snow actually ways tongues? How 'bout I buy you like twenty to twenty five pound dumbbells, and we'll call it a day. I like the snow aggravates here you are going to be. You're the reason you're what's wrong with society right now that that because I will tell you the first time this snow now again, I'm from Florida so driving in snow has been a whole new learning experience for me. And the first time I've driving down I twenty five and some Jack tarred in front of me a piece of snow flies off and hits. In the middle of my windshield. I damn near out a heart attack. I could've killed thirty. People is probably me it was it was a box truck. I thought it'd been shot for a second series. It was like Duke. And then I was like, no, I'm not bleeding. I mean, I've never come back after a trip and part of it's not there it always just stays there. So if you I'm sorry, Mike, you're on KOA NewsRadio. I don't even know who gave the intrepid producer is anymore. Yeah. Well, he sounds pretty smart. What's your two cents on wipers? You don't know what you're back to where you came from. Hey, hey, I'm Marty. I'm just saying for everybody from California. There's a lot of vacancies there. You guys can move back. So what do you do with your wipers smarty pants? Well, I'm a native. That means nothing because I've got thirty emails from natives who say they've put their wipers up and thirty emails from natives who say they never put their wipers up. It means nothing in the context of this conversation. I understand. So it's kind of like potato Picado, there's no right or wrong as long as you're smart enough to make sure that your windshield. Wipers aren't frozen to your windshield. And then you clear your windshield. You're okay. But if you leave them up for me, that's just too much effort. I'm too lazy? So I'd rather get my scraper. Great my windshield. Make sure my windshield. Wipers are free. And there I go. So all I have to do is on stick them. And I'm good. Yeah. Get your windshield. Wiper your paper, and it all kind of loosen them up. That's what I would do. But that's what I do. But I'm a native and like I said, it's potato potato. It's half a dozen one sixty other. You know what I mean? I gotta tell you. I third generation. I know it really doesn't matter. Yeah. I never ever lifted my windshields up my wipers up until about a year and a half two years ago when I drove into our parking lot. And you saw and I saw these people doing it. And I was like. Uh-huh. Well, that's brilliant. I never thought of it. And before then I just used to lift it up little scrape it off all the little ice pick enough. You know, turn on the app the roster. Yeah. Let it do its thing. I lived in Durango. I've lived in Aspen. I've lived in Vail. I never lifted my windshield wipers, well, the other half of your natives are gonna get tell me that you're wrong. And you're just lucky that you've dodged a bullet and having killed someone up to this point. What about what why am I killing people? I'm just kidding. I'm engaging in high pro-. Okay, I'm exaggerating. Just you pick it off. He get your windshield. Wiper working and you go listen on my biggest pet peeve is when people don't wipe all of their windows of the snow move. What are they were their roof? Are you driving around looking like a breadbox? Like, a loaf of bread come on. You're going to kill somebody driving a ship. What's what's coming up like little people? Yeah. Coming up there lady. I got Jerry bell. I got Cory Lopez. We've got the entire KOA NewsRadio team out there there with you in this storm, and you're going to hear about what they're experiencing as well..

Now does much fun for the state patrol which has responded to nearly six hundred incidents in. King County alone as a result of the snow. It's been a busy couple of days for the state patrol five hundred and seventy seven incidents on local highways and the number keeps climbing trooper Rick Johnson still some areas where there's ice in between the lane, changing rain. You know, what's causing some of these out, and that doesn't count county and city numbers. It's not over yet. Another dumping of snow is expected Friday night into Saturday. Jeff Pohjola, KOMO news. Transportation officials from the city county and state are coordinating their efforts to tackle the snow and ice come us to Romero with that story. Dump trucks filled up on salt at the Seattle department of transportation maintenance yard as that agency. And the Washington State Department of transportation even update on their winter response plan, Dave McCormack with the state DOT says they along with King County plan every year for the kind of snow. We got this week this year, especially kosher of highway ninety nine we recognize months in advance. Where the nicer they're grin ninety nine was closed would be a significant event. It's not says now that major roadways in the city are mostly clear during the lull in the weather some of their seventy trucks and plows a day can look at secondary streets sidewalks for pedestrians and bike lanes. See Romero, KOMO news. Spill you're out on the roads today, you may have had to drive over some San now, what might that do to your car? Here's komo's Ryan Harris. If enough of that sand collects under your car, the weight can damage the suspension or it can get into the brakes, but Jeff Odom of evergreen auto works in Bothell says just hose it out. Jeff also warns against running your wipers. If the windshields covered in snow and run the windshield wiper motor strip out the window wipers. So a lot of people I see nowadays they lift their wife of blades up. So they're not on the windshield. Because you have them on when you park the car the night before Steve content of mill creek's little sprouts. Nursery says most northwest landscaping can handle the cold right now. There is a layer of insulation that could be protecting the ground. On the ground probably is not going to get below freezing. Because of this ice plants live. Okay. "Need to be replaced when something needs to be done. It's amazing the things that they will not pay for when the job needs to be taken care of isn't it? That's correct. And you fight for you as a as a dealer we have to fight for the customer. Have we tried to? Anyway, you'd be surprised how much how misled the customers are thinking that everything's covered and very few things are it's not bumper to bumper to bumper to bumper warranty that you get you have a true bumper to bumper warranty from a manufacturer, literally everything but tires and battery is covered. Correct. And even the batteries covered. I mean, if something happens to the battery but tires they Burke to the tire manufacturer. But everything else is covered. But that's extended warranties. Aren't that way? I do not know of a true bumper to bumper extended warranty. I don't know of one if there's one that exists I'll be more than happy to say, I'm sorry. But I don't know of what. They all have exclusions, and if you don't know your car, well, meaning you don't know what kind of part you have in your car. You don't know about the exclusions of whether they're going to be painful for you in the future. That's correct. That's correct. The electron IX are the biggest things nowadays, and they shy away from all that. Right. I mean, if you're. You've got all the things are wrapped up in the one your heating and air conditioning system is part of your navigation your navigations part of your bluetooth all connected together. If you have a major malfunction in that system, you really can't operate the car got no heat. No air conditioning. You can't use your bluetooth. Okay. Plus, of course, you have no navigation. You got no stream to tell you anything that's going on with the diagnostics of the car. So obviously, you're going to have to have that fixed, and it ain't cheap. Not not by any means. Right. And even going used nowadays is sometimes not an answer. Some of these automobiles have to have specific part that is designed for your specific car by serum over and you can't just plug and play. That's correct. Just the simplest things now become so complicated to try to just replace on a car because everything needs programs. I'll tell you what if you wanna have some fun, go to a dealer parks department on a modern car something from two thousand and up and ask the guy for a wiper motor. Okay. If he doesn't have the sheer number of the car. He can't look it up. Okay. It's as simple as that. Okay. He can guess. All right. That's all it's going to be is a guess you have to have VIN number, the vehicle dedication, number for everything. Now on these automobiles. And it's the same thing with used parts sometimes used parts can be swapped in and out other times. They can't it's becoming harder and harder and harder to do that. Because everything's vehicle specific. Yup. Exactly four that serial number. We're taking a break back in just a few moments. I'm Dave Serio. It's Saturday morning. And that means you all callers waiting. We're getting right to you in just a moment. This is the stylistics. That Cox service.

"It before dodge ever built one generation. It's a ninety four ram the wiper motor in it. That was like his personas out is that when he was still a Dodge Ram Yay. A long long time, the SS package of the stripes and everything. Yeah. And he has like Cleo Shelby's GLA chess her Shelby Lancer. Here's a shoulder. Quick ours. Shelby Lancer is they had one of those at the Peterson for a while. They might you might still be in the I should have like hops on many. Swat at Peterson at Bradwell that was a desk. Shelby Daytona Shelby Daytona guy at Redwood had a show a mint mint. Shelby Daytona with a six one Hemi. Swap that when you close the hood, you could not tell. It was it was nice. I know the guy he's a beast. He looked like he looks like chubby axl rose there. It is right accurate hovering on the picture of it. Right. Right. Right. The red one there it is. That's it. That's out. Yeah. So so delightfully fresh period, the the correct wheels. Everything it's fantastic six it was six inches monster under heavy. Yeah. That's six one of those cars since we'll walk up to it from the back like all this is amazing cable, and he walks for you like, oh my God. It just got better. Full stock into your everything. Yeah. He's great. Are you into are you into the eighties nineties much, you know, Porsches? Yeah. That I kinda I I'm getting more into them as I see kind of more of them and the older I get that becomes more nostalgic for me that era of cars, but my dad always had portions, which is why I got my nine eleven so I was kind of the the car of the eighties. I was around the, you know, there's there's those weird cars to that. I like like remember the MIR core. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Those. The school had one of those. But they're so unusual. You know, it's gotta be like almost like a Sierra Cosworth. No, no, it isn't. Of course. My my Grand National was my bucket list car in highschool seven Grand National. So I bought that at Barrett Jackson a year and a half ago while you're working. But right before we went on the air. Are you allowed to bid on the air yet is as long as I lay out I can bid on the air? But this is literally ripe for we're we're like rehearsing ten minutes from going live on the air. And I was looking at this nine twenty eight that came across and it kinda got out of my price range. And so I'm walking away. And one of my producers goes, well, you've always wanted a Grand National man, there's a Grand National right behind it. So I turn around the bidding stalls at twelve grand. So I'm like it's good time to get in the game. Twelve five get past thirteen whenever the Mike old was getting my gum up on national for twelve five. You gotta do. Yeah. That sounds great. Great national for twelve green right now all day. Yeah. Dr. It drives. Really good, actually. Yeah. Treasury. Well, I might be wrong. Maybe I paid maybe a paid seventeen. I can't remember got check still a good. Why you still exactly you know, those guys that Detroit speed? Yes, they make a suspension kit for Grand National that makes it handle. Really? Really good. Yeah. I drove their Monte-Carlo SS there. Eighty four whatever it was I've shot. Kyle kyle. There's another guy who's meant down to earth is can be how Kyle man. Yeah. And they've won the the Sima build off. I think twice or three times. Those guys are on point. And they also built the cans truck, which is rowdy, and I drove a bunch of their shit, and it was bonkers there. See three corvette with American flag on it is banana. Did you see the sixty nine charter they built for that guy? No. I drove it. Oh my God..

Technology to help understand the workings of the mind, the brain and the body. He's my co-founder at muse, Chris, Amy and welcome Chris. Awesome. Can't wait to do. This. Chris prolific electrical engineer who trained Dr Steve man, Steve is widely known as the father of wearable computing together. Chris and Steve critic glasses with cameras and screens and wore them in the early nineties before Google glass was ever thought they've invented water-based musical instruments. He's when prizes for energy producing yoyos and Chris went onto found interacts on. And build what's probably the most consumer -cially successful brain computer, interface device out there. His also a deep thinker changing how we think about the brain and body during meditation and he's a new invention. He's gonna share today at the end of the episode. It's an honor to have him as a friend and partner in crime and to be able to spend time inside his head. You've created all sorts of amazing things in your lifetime. Some which I've had the luck to be a part of let's go back into your history. Can you start by describing some of your early inventions? It wasn't really until mid to late high school that has started making things. Made this video camera system where there was like. Skateboard wheels and built a track. So it could do these smooth panning video shots to analyze people's walking the gate analysis that was required for different kinds of therapy and research, and so I had someone asked me to do that this similar time. I made a system for doing strength testing based upon some old technology that was sort of got re revitalized with some new ideas and new tech. I remember building skateboard what ramps that was amazing. I can ride it. You know? So I remember some of your cool probably in your early robotics. We met in our early twenties. But in your early twenties, I remember you made a robot that could paint crawl up the wall and paint this way up and down. I think one reason why created that is I had had so many bizarre bits of machinery electronics old computers in my garage, my parent's garage at the time. And bro in Scarborough. And I had a friend who had decided to open up a temporary art gallery, and she's like could you make something cool and technological? But you know, can you make a piece of art that would come in here? And just like sure what what can I do that I can make use of all this junk and also had a whimsical nature to it. So it was I think it was the first totally useless thing ever made. Maybe it maybe it broke the ice in a lot of you know, crazy new stuff. It was like, it was totally useless. It used the printer from Commodore sixty four I think I took my rollerblades apart. And I bought windshield. Wiper Motors, a used computer mice as optical encoders. Bizarre stuff. But then I made this gangly kind of robotic arm that would hold a paintbrush and satisfying throw up against the wall. It would reach backwards and dip rush until bucket of paint. And then it would like stick it on this giant canvas. And then it start to move it around. My father was happy that it took his all propane tank away. I think it use it as a counterweight told us the right amount of water should mention this thing was like eight or nine feet high because it would go all the way up the wall. It was probably it was like it was eight feet high and probably twelve it was really big and it us four computers. So I think yeah us every. Last bit of junk, but I had kicking around, but it painted some really amazing stuff and had a camera that would continuously observe whatever was happening in the in the gallery in whoever came in just essentially paint. What it saw it painted, really slowly? So it was really hard to make sense of anything that painted. But yeah, the robot painters silly. See that to work with Steve man and really create some of the early Google glass type form factors time. Steve is calling it. I tap. Can you talk a little bit about that experience? Yeah..

"The her something that i do you know way better than hanging out at the mall so i thought some day i'm gonna get one of those and so my first birthday after i left rehab a friend of mine and old buddy bought me one of those gun mounts can you explain the gun mount like what it mounts to how functions sure the one that i'm talking about that i discovered and and i had they called the sr seventy seven it's until magin there's two pieces of aluminum ibm basically one going front back and one side to side and on top of that right on top of that running one running along each ibm is a piece of all thread running out to the end and then on the end of that all thread was a windshield wiper motor hooked each one and then the windshield wiper motors were operated by a joystick which is mounted on the gun mouth and then you put it in a place where the user can move it so for me it was right at my chin so i would the rifle is cut off at the pistol room got no but and if mounts on top of this gun mount which attach is to my wheelchair and sits over my left basically and so i leaned my head forward and look through the scopes like anybody and then move this joystick left and right which and up and down which turns the windshield wiper motor turns the all thread which makes the rifle aim left right and up and down and then it's got a little tube you know a little plastic straw that took up to the call it a breath to actuator which turns your breath into an electrical signal and that's up to a so annoyed and that's so annoyed is attached to the trigger so when.

"Yeah well that suggests the problem is in in the motor okay because you know the is designed so that the no matter where you shut the switch off they will complete one more cycle and then the circuit gets interrupted when the when the blades park i'm afraid that that eliminates the switch sweat yeah i'm afraid so afraid that it's well here's what you need to do you have you tried anything else besides no not interested in spending a lot of money to fix this it's one hundred and sixty thousand miles on it so probably not know all right here's what you do you wanna go to a what we used to call them the old days a junkyard but is now called an auto recycler and you wanna buy for ten bucks or so the motor a used white promoter isn't something i can put myself while you can't you might not get the wipers to actually work anymore but but you give it a shot you could just find the wiper motor which which i believe is what under the hood on this thing and you could unplug it and unplug it back in on rainy days you could do that but if you bought a used motor you could do is you could plug the motor in and then turn the white house on and you would see the shaft turning and then when you turn the white off you'd see the shaft turn probably one revolution and stop and if you saw if that happened then you'd know you had it fixed and all you'd have to do then is take the old motor out and put the new motor in you could do that but i got a funny feeling i planted a seed here with unplugging thing very attractive option.

"Excellent good advice i'm enjoying how many people are getting in touch with their experiences to try and help others so let me just do a couple more of these somebody's takes sing sometimes streaming services offer a choice of protocols they can actually reduce your data usage if you're streaming music you can reduce the quality for thanks for that xdr let me just see there's another one here i wanted to get to as well db's have been very much the theme of the morning brian from barrick tweets as hard just a word of warning about car add on adapters my local helford put me off saying they're bad for picking up interference like wiper motor or in dr release but that's interesting so it's not just kind of frequency thing is other other sources could be interfering as well yes so this to possibly that one is that you can have interference with the the receiver itself but also if it is using fm to link to to the you know in cost system of than that because all sorts of things with switches and motors produce radio frequencies in you find out because you often the on any radio you hear clicks and buzzes and things which are which are interference of a generator or someone someone's luma to those away it's interference and that that that is a problem and that's why it's better to try and find one that will allow if your if your vehicle has say three and a half minutes to input socket and auxiliary inputs or one can be wyatt that's by far the best solution fading that you know bluetooth he's a bit more resilient against interference than something like a conventional fm link.
