We have some exciting content common so grab a pack enjoyed. Nhl is just around the corner. Were you aware you were on this ride while you were actually and it. Did you understand that. It was insane that you were doing this. At the level you are kind of just embracing swimming. That's however you itch it was bought kid. That's how i was playing hockey at the time. Yeah it seemed normal to me little rock. I guess but that's what they wanted. It's usually you're you'll know biz. I met more so in a sense of the fact that you're playing in the u. h. l. You're getting paid all this money. Guys orchestrating the fact that the other teams goals will not be playing with their goalie pads that game. It was a full on three ring. Fucking surkhet and you involved that we did. You know that this was happening. A fun of yourself fully aware. Yeah fully aware. This was not normal for the u. a. Chiller any any. I played multiple aa minor leagues and This was something this is special. These guys are fucking around big. Will you said you had a contract for the quebec league at one point now. That's a pretty wild league. And i want to say after. Dan bear unit spending a few years. There was that similar as far as how wild it was guys getting paid under the table. Maybe this the side stories that are happening at the bars. Yeah totally calm. Damn there would have been suited better to play in that elena age than in the u. h. l. They're a little bit too much for the for the. Us like It was coming to the end of a savage era that if the minor league level but except for the quebec league was still pushed on. I don't even know if that is still going on. But i'll tell you what the treasures would have fit in perfectly in the quebec league any stories from that league that you could share that that you could just remember off the wall. What i've been in bench-clearing brawl all my life and The very first game so they had a guy. I don't know if you guys remember. A guy named steve bosse ended up going onto the fighting. He won him sean. O'donnell i believe one twenty fifteen. Ufc fight of the year. So that first game. So saint john chiefs they are stacked they had side then burnett pat coattail I'm missing guys to yuri moskovsky. Just list goes on and on and there they wanna be like the charleston chiefs and they are the toughest team in the world. that time. i'm so the first game. I go there. I'm like everyone's talking about bossy. I'm like faulk. I'm i'm gonna fight this guy off here like fuck this shit. I shift fought bossie. Not a great fight you maybe took a tumble like not on purpose. Foot losses footing or whatever and then First time i've ever been in the bench-clearing brawl in my life was fucking insane. Insanity Umbrellas not bench clears so things are getting pretty wild member. Lots of objections in that game and i was still in the game. And we're late their coach fuckin- chirp fucking you know. I'm not gonna say what i said to him but he was a french guy. Saw had some words for him to use her imagination around here that right and so we're lady bird. We're not we're on p. And not on a stretch far blue line coming across towards their bench looking for breakaway pass. Am on the power play. Their coach said no one of their players. This andrew sharp guy don't even know he's a single guy at bat in hong this guy played. But i'm looking for this. Jump off the bench during the plano substitution fucking. Soccer's me so. I remember getting up fucking karna dizzy. Sky fell to when he hit me and he thinks he's like i'm dizzy. Drops his loved ones. Come skating at me. And i was just like walking tomahawk chop boom. That feel that first time ever slash guy over the head in my life. They'll garin specs. Joe actually at least and i can tell you how to helmet on so i kind of got him right. There inside of the neck is a beauty. Now also i keep going ahead so join a bench klay like that. There's not enough repsol officials to break up the guys tire out. Ataka themselves out a call. Like how's that work. I mean there's some guy still around the house to a close you get tommy. T-boned to a shotgun behind skate sharpener. It goes it goes on for a long time went along time. That's all. I know you're here you could die here. He's got the oxygen tank by the by the glass. Take a little breather. While before you go pound per pound bossi now going back to that bossi. I used to fight morass. Y'all who was another guy. Who ended up in danbury. I i wanna say their cousins. It just happens. All these fighters are cousins with each other but he has some. I think there's an eight fight clip on youtube where they go like eight times in the midst of a season and they just stand there and boom just bric brick off. Each other's foreheads and morass. He's probably got a bowling ball for head. Exactly bosses gotta bullying balls well so they might be related. But yeah. I was there that time. And that was the highlight of the allen. Age those who've go at it in on really good friend. John's one of my best friends in the whole world and i tried talking sense. This guy like. I thought bossy a few times. I probably beat him on points a couple of times to right But john wouldn't. I'm like dude. Just type his right arm. For fox sakes dude in rosty receives the tie up anyway. You fought him biz. Like what the fuck he used to chase me around the ice and he said i'm not gonna stop chasing until you find me so i looked at my culture and and dan byles biz. Do not fight him tonight. I'm like oh yeah. Is he fucking skating. Around you out there all night embarrassing in front of the syracuse fans. And they'd be like you say from. The bench are are from behind the bench. And it's like fucking. I'm getting this thing over with. And then he would get his fight. And then he would untie escapes in gordon batch and just chirp guys arrest of the game now is that he couldn't play like you winger no donyo. John keeps telling me he got better. He can play now so hopefully doesn't hear this. You might wanna fight me but always skill guy fight for the nickname. He's got the nasty. And i get the bees nasty ya all. He wasn't..

"Leg. Gives out breaks. Talk skate boot. Holy shit do without when you're on corpus christi. Yeah oh god oh my goodness how long laid up for before he can skate again. Get back out there. You got worse ankles wit. Yeah no i do know for sure. Yeah well these are. Both times is told by the doctor. Their career ending injuries. Off-stump to to pigheaded to shut her down but had nothing else to do. But the danbury one. I was back on the ice at the end of that season when the team was in the playoffs i was at practice but i wasn't running all the drills. I was just floating around fucking trying to feel part of the team tested the leg but not nearly game ready so i was actually back that in what had happened in december and i was back probably march on the ice not tripoli but it was it was all to get back before you played again because you wanted your redemption and they ended up showing in the dock as well. When you're injured the leg-up you'd be sitting in the in the stands on the recliners. Well was that an every home game type thing. Yo for sure. Like yo ban hanging out and jimmy's box got i think i went from a boat to thirty to fifty five and the most the cupcakes. We're not making their way down to the recipes. Nothing was making it out of that box to clean up crew. When you say everything was taken care of in terms of where you live. They're always there. Also be after saturday night home game you guys go out bar bills taken care of by jimmy and things like that He he was real big on the geez. Everything's ten here's ten gs ten. Jeez so i guess he liked that number. I don't i don't know about well. You know if you're a good saturday night home game win or whenever you get ten gs but i'll tell you what it was the opposite if you had a shitty game and lost at home. He was coming in the room. And mike didn't feel comfortable with the but i've seen a lot of other pucker buttonholes a lot worse than mine. There guys fucking almost in tears going to be taking guys. Gucci belts away eh address room. Everyone's just you know. Turn out to be guy. Contact kept down to do like. If i don't see it maybe it'll go away sooner but Yeah is this good. It's all good. You can't have become good without bad so it is what it was right. It was pretty cool definitely like the wedding stop better. Getting the money to go to. The bar was pretty wild now. That section one two is that the only place you've ever seen bodybags with with fans. I've never seen that before in any venue anywhere. Yeah you know what's funny as most section one or two used to be a new haven. So when i played like a neighbor sexual one oh to new haven and it's the first time i've ever seen a body bag is most of these people came from our. We're at newhaven games prior to the dampers existence. So i've seen these. I seen this crew before on the other side of things that's obscene. It's got a macabre but it's funny now those all what is it. Oh is that you say the name Yeah those that they seem like a couple of characters playing. Are you guys. See them on. That doc is exactly how these fucking guys are around there. Bay they live together in. Danbury they sit together on the boss they room to go on the road and they're fucking just fight with themselves like a married couple ninety percent of the time but magical on the ice. I'm talking like the city means at a minor league level. I don't even know how these guys fault can found each other baxter and it was incredible. Also the other guy that i talked to. Aj was that david haimovitz. He was ridiculous. Like the fact that he was there. Playing it was no surprise sees numbers. Oh yeah i played against them in the american league to and what's funny is and i became good friends with them. We actually got in a fight. You get caught up. I don't know who the fuck and tough guy. So i'm asking everyone to fight and end up fighting on disk. Gave it to the pig jaw big head and so i know this guy looks pretty tough buck. You wanna go here. What and he's like sure so years later me and my wife for over at his house for for dinner and he showed me some baby pictures with this. I think this is daughter. And i got a block like fuck. Where'd you get that from high mowing. He's like fuck winger. You fucking did that. I was like oh change the subject here man able at that slow wild we were talking to. Aj about his birthday party when all the wrestler showed up and then later in. The documentary was john tonight. But i believe you were injured and you would imagine you would probably in the crowd for that now. Did you see that whole ordeal. Go down with that guy that they brought in john cena no not john. Bagga chad wealthier. Just so happens that same night. The chad wagner and up going after the head coach yes so like i hung out with stunt seena. That night was hanging out at the spinner built on. Just see guys. John might remember that but i was sitting right across wagner. Did that and i know eggs to from fighting him over the years to right and so i found that highly entertaining. I didn't think it was that bad. That the ban the guy for life you know. He grabbed a i forget who the coach was. There was right. Yeah pod van. Yeah yeah you grabbed a whole of them but it was a scuffle. It was a little donnybrook over at their bench. But i was kind of surprised when they started banning guys for life over that sell little excited i think. China set a precedent. Or whatever you call it how funny how funny was the back and forth between jimmy. Aj and then what's what's the commissioners name their show you said richard bruce l. Did you know what was going on in terms of him flipping out every weekend. You have a good idea. Like i didn't like bro solved. Just because i played in that league for four years and gotta go. I had to keep going to fuck in disciplinary hearings with him. And i forget the other guy's name Might have been mitch lamoureux or something like that account. Remember exactly so. I was like fuck these guys you know. It's like going to the principal's office over and over and over saul off. I ended up watching that documentary. And i'm like fuck and he started drinking the kool aid big time all. Yeah all my goal was he ever loving himself. A fucking the dude. No wonder where all the fine money was going. He looked at the principal and back to the future. Definitely remind you of them. I like them at the end of the doc. It's the first time i've ever like that guy my life because jimmy fuck and said if you didn't talk nice about him on a bullet in the back of his head show. I'm sure i'm sure but he seemed pretty january. You know when flip on the with the fbi grill and you know like he did. Play the tough guy like jimmy. You can't be pulling this shit and you see and what me. Oh yeah sure. Mr brazelle they would just laugh after this guy has no flocking clue Winger how'd you get involved with the documentary in one of the parts in it. You're you've got emotional. Talking about the team was because of the team specifically or was it more of kind of a recap about your entire career and how it got you there. Yeah no. I think the emotional part was not jimmy. I finally see jimmy come in but You know in these docs pretty good at get you talking for six hours. And then they're clipping shit out that you said.

Basically now the first time you were contacted by the team is at. Aj colin like seventy had gone to. You guys are asking me that tommy pompous solo. So to that. And then that'll lead into how. I ended up of a t and was the fucking equipment manager in new haven. I was in l. Myra and this fucking guy would chirp chirpin trip. I remember grabbing a guy in new haven and just being the fuck out of your fucking multi equipment manager. I can remember that Their bench newhaven spent till shut the. I walked right in new haven's room looking for him nowhere to be found so i love cibo. Now don't get me wrong. But he's the first guy that called me at home in vancouver and the offseason already signed the contract. Getting ready to sign a contract in the ellen. Ah in the quebec league. Yeah it's good stuff while without further we're gonna send it over to winger. His brad wingfield It's nine second interview of our danbury trashes episode. If you watch the documentary about the incredible recuperation that's next guy went through to get his revenge on an opponent after gruesome on ice injury. He also averaged five hundred twenty four penalty minutes over two seasons spin with the elmira jackals at six other pro seasons with at least two hundred penalty minutes. It's a pleasure to welcome to the spitting chiklis podcast brad. Wingfield going when that eddie. Going good guys insist as a real honor to be here. Thanks for having me. And i can't wait to get into the story the tractors and whatever else comes here tonight wing not. Is that where. We're calling today's podcast. It's they call them on the dock. I've been called a lot of things in that wingnut. By far not near the worst of them trying to keep up with all these media requests. It must be insane. The response must shock. You kind of caught me off guard. It's been a few years since. I last played in shocking shocking. Best but it's good to be shocked right. I more than anything no. It's it's not just a hockey story right. So it's it's beyond the hockey world than those buddies getting in touch with you. It's people that you probably haven't heard from in thirty years. That are just into net flicks. Right i'll go with like let's just throw my age rate out there thirty years. Thanks for the day over forty three. Do don't even worry about it. You look good. Thanks bye can see you guys with clearly. I'd say the same but my visions blurry. I'd take the glasses off. You might be more western league guy than vandermeer who we had on hits funny. Jim banda mary talking about him all. Yeah jimmy's actually related to me through marriage. If you guys can believe that call for party did you know that. When you don't is no i just brought it up random because when i talked to you this afternoon wing not can i call you winger. Not wingnut yeah you can call me whatever you want to get you through the screen. Anyways we you are one guy. And he's only around the corner in surrey. We got talking to this afternoon before before. This all happened. But one thing i didn't realize and had a double check was when i googled her name. The picture of steve parsons at the saint patrick's day massacre comes up. And i'm like okay. This must just be related to all these wacky crazy fights and along the way and of course. Is dan bear story. But you were the fucking opponent to steve. Parsons with your shirt off in that infamous fight on saint patrick's day when you thought it was. Scroll back today. You guys getting into issues off the ice when you were younger like a teen or were you. Were you just kind of procedures there. No i was a little bit of trouble early on in the teens and that lots of street on the street streetfighter. I i just happened to play hockey. So you put together and boom here. We are now. Do you found a really comfortable way to put the on. I was watching the document. He had no zippers on your pants. Just an absolute sloppy gear. Wear guy did. I got some pretty big treetrunks there in that jive with me man. I've been told in different organizations columbus. One of them that you gotta have those zippers out but surprisingly is kept breaking on berry only had the budget for the parties and the nice dinners not that not not the gear for the players. Had the budget for anything going back to your days on the you know you talked about the scrapping and stuff like that. Did you ever end up getting a chance to go to the whol for a tryout given how tough you are and how much you're handling business that totally i did. Actually i was Protected by the kamloops blazers after my first year in the bc league seventeen Protected by kamloops and ironically. I was trading a three way deal. I went to red deer without even setting foot in their camp in off to medicine hat. I just didn't grow up on the western league i left. I left gibson's in the sunshine. Coast to play rep hockey bantam hockey and powell river. And we're kings fans there. The powell river kings and i didn't really know a whole lot about the hockey league are sort of the westerly and wasn't educated on it and when i went out to medicine hat i don't know just i didn't like it there I didn't really give it a chance. And just wanted to be closer to home. And and i did not knowing anything. I came back to the bc league so it was a big mistake. I'll never forget. My old man was just furious with me and Luckily luckily you blew your.

"You said earlier replaced wingfield with the signing with barassie. At what point did you decide to go. Get mike rupp and i know that there was a connection there because you're a massive new jersey devils fan. He ended up having an impact the year before. Yeah no so yeah. I mean we've had season tickets to the devil. Since that was my first ever. Hockey game was nineteen ninety four. I saw scott. Stevens lays out on the language wins. I was ever since. Then i wanted. Scott stevens was like an idol to me and Yeah i mean it was oh three when we were playing the duct way. Like i'm on a team when the devils were playing the ducks and was game. Seven and I was right there when they called mike. Rupp that playoff and He he basically had the he he he was on the line with jeff friesen. I'll never forget it and he deflected e and the game wasn't overtime but you had the game winner and It was right in front of me. We had it like right there and I'll i'll never forget this. Mike rub and when this was happening i mean the trashes weren't even thought you know so then when the lockout happened you know it was like somehow he was available like his name came across the desk. And i'm like we have to get mike like just because you know i was like i don't care as we have to get micro and You know like. I said i kinda was like roger. Clements starting pitcher. My dad was the closer marianna rivera. I don't know how the deal was closed. I know there was some speculation with duffle bags. I just know that we got him. And i was so i mean that was like bringing wayne gretzky for me just because of the year before it was crazy and is the only follow up i had for that was who or some other crazy names. That came up. You guys were close to signing now. You're one million percent. What i wanted to do and this is not a joke. I wanted to get donald brashear. And georgia's law rock. And that was the goal and georgia's laura for whatever the reason it just. Some kind of fell flat right away. But bruce year we came this. Close this close to getting donald bashir. He ended up going to quebec But also and man. I one of my biggest regrets is. It's not really my fault. But i wish we got it. We came this. Close to getting sean avery. At the trade sean haven where perfect yawn every was put on this earth to be danbury thrasher and he was playing with. Motorcycle is dressed. He sean avery let me tell you something. He was with motor so so i think he was with the red wings at the time. So during the lockout him chellios dairy and hatcher played on this motor city team in our league. And you know you could tell hatcher in chellios was just you know whatever but avery was trying and that's what i liked about it. I'm like this guy is like he's trying to play and he doesn't give a shit and i loved it and i knew him from the show. Obviously and i'm like me. And my dad were infatuated with like we have to trade for frigging sean avery. I mean we came socal. I just for whatever reason it didn't happen but maybe it's best for him and us. It didn't happen. 'cause lord knows what would have happened but that is one of my biggest like what if an i man i to this day i would love to meet him and i have to get him a jersey. Just because did you and t-bone or anyone else involved with the team that you guys ever get into it with maybe other. Gm's or other coaches from other teams so richmond. Virginia had a team richmond river dogs. I had a guy named jeff croup and again me. My dad didn't go to owner meetings. Gm meetings we didn't go you know we didn't go finagle with them play golf. I don't know anyone. I don't know we didn't have facebook or instagram youtube. I don't know anyone from anyone so one day. Where we're playing richmond. In danbury and i got pissed because we were losing for whatever reason i don't ask me why i end up making my way to section two big mistake so now we're like we're just you know i'm going in with them and it's i mean it was crazy so all of a sudden this guy comes over and he's got like the sudan and he's kind of like yelling at me and i'm just like and he's just like you he's like what are you doing. Stop you know You know. And i'm just like you know i'm yelling at him. I'm like what do you mean. Tell me to stop. This is our pto and then next thing you know it like it's getting heated and i see t-bone ran from the bench all the way around. The rink speared this guy. And i don't even think he knew he will use spearing so i grabbed him and we had the hell out of sexy going insane. It was like a riot. And next thing i know we go upstairs and my dad's already on the phone with richard brazil. Almost me and debone were sitting there like like two little kids and my dad's like Looking at us like Okay sorry richard yet. Okay yeah. I'll take care of it and i'm shit my pants and t bones looking at me and he's like i think we're gonna get in trouble and i'm like yeah probably tommy. We're probably going to get in trouble here. And then we found out it was richmond. Gm i had no idea who he was. So then tommy subsequently gets suspended for like thirty games or something stupid like that. And i got suspended one game and That was it it was just you know it was crazy. That was an incident. I thought i thought he got suspended. When when your father jimmy got punched by the official anyone crazy because there was another kerfuffle regarding that no no no so so what happened with that was that was that was the wing game. Wave broke his leg. And honestly you know for better or worse you know. This is a team. This is a family and like we were ready to fight me and my dowry to fight anyone at that point. I mean whether you know no matter what i mean we. Just this is how we are that loyalty thing and next thing i know i saw. My dad was down at the penalty box area. And he's you know chairman the raft in the rep said something to him. My dad allegedly threw a punch and You know it just got crazy and I remember i. I went running into help them. Thank but jerry burnett. At the time it was on the ducks was with us and he's three hundred pounds of muscle. He kind of grabbed me by the arm. And we we just got the heck out of there and that you know that got arrested. Every night was like something crazy. It really was so now. We know who has targeted off on your mom's laptop. Did he got so much muscle on this cracking himself off every day is right monster. How many suited. Up like ronald ross. He suited up jerry and Man what a what a what a machine that guy the lines and really off like say something similar truthfully. I don't know because at the time when i saw this going on. It was just like a big crowd was formed. it was. I don't know. I mean i'll take time these word for it. I think that's what happened. He had to be by the way visit. Had to be over under five hundred times. Richard russell heard won't happen again and again. That was a bad and that was a that was a bad one. Richer was really. Mr brazil was really down. That was bad and that was like you know some. But i like you said i think deep down. He kind of enjoyed it when guys cool. What's cool sorry. Go ahead buddy. Another store you guys took a page straight out of the syracuse bulldogs playbook from slapshot. Fame chad wagner had gun. He comes in. I get a penalty for something. He does a one eighty on the way to the penalty box goes after the opposing bench actually knocks down or strikes. Hippos and coach pod van gets banned for life from the league to games played seventy three penalty minutes bent in the league. That's an all time trash. Aj or what so. Let me tell you something. Sad wagon does a first year now. Adirondack was owned. By burying. Melrose and steve levy. And you know again. We didn't really know that we will look into the associated with anyone else and You know we were just at around was like our biggest rival so you know every game with us in them. Was you know the poor. The adirondack had a guy named scott. Page god bless him. He was the only tough guy on that team at the time and he had to answer to everything. But i mean i mean. I think i'm friends with him on facebook. I think i apologized to him once..

"Aj they was that your idea of of of bringing in gretzky is the number. One signing brent. Gretzky that was classic that press conference. Well i gotta say i gotta give t-bone in my dad the credit on that one because t-bone new of brent from the. Uh oh. And i guess he was a free i. I don't know he was available. And my dad's like yep that's what we have to do. We have to announce where signing gretzky and when you know people people are just gonna assume around here. You know no one in dan you know he has a brother. You know what. I mean. So i feel bad because you know i don't want it to look like it was a novelty signing because he actually was a pretty good score wire very good so and i had a lot of respect for him man. Because you know. Look if i'm michael jordan's brother. I'm not playing basketball. So i had a lot of respect for him. You know to you know that had to be tough but yet when we we kind of put it out to the press a signed gretzky gretzky is going to be at the press conference and you know these people were like what's and they came in droves and when we announced it they again it was on april fools day press conference to it was the whole thing was just why i mean we just did things just a mess with people's heads even the press. It was hilarious. I'd say the biggest drop of the job moment was when jimmy called down right before the game started to talk said wingfield on the phone. He kind of he kind of incorporated walking phoenix from gladiator commodious. Where he would give the thumbs down from the stoop rolling allies was was that a regular occurrence where he is calling down and was there any ever ever a time where one of the opposing players would maybe yellow up to him or something given how involved he was well. My dad would always be so. My dad would always be standing the whole game. He was like perched up like a gargoyles in the corner of the box and he he did the first game. You know the first few games we had like these phones kind of stashed around and you know given hit we're going back and forth but you know but then we got trouble because i don't know who ratted on us reported us but then sells like you can't have phones on the bench. You know so really when morass came me and him once hung out and we put like these look like gang size. we're putting hand signals together. And what we were doing. Was you know we'd have a whole system where you know whatever you know be trip in such a little bit happy trip and the guy on the other team and he'd be chirping back i mean why wouldn't you and then i'd get pissed. I look at morass. I throw the number up all right. We have all these hand signals and these guys loved it. Don't get listen. don't let them for you. They loved it. They loved having like a group around them. That wanted that. And it was just Oh man it was just just a different time man. I tell you but yes. We did have different. Means of communication from owners box to the bench. The cops with the string. Yes yes yes. That probably would have been next. Take me through the behind the scenes with you guys. When wingfield had that horrible leg injury i think it was the kid l. Xango heard him and and and the story after where the kid lived. But i can't imagine you guys in the box in the room. After and how furious she must have been in how horrible you felt felt for wingfield. I remember seriously is a few things. I remember like like i could close my eyes in. See it and hear it. And i remember you know. Wingfield was crashed in kills at defenseman. So where was crashing. The net get tangled up. And i remember ellison is stick cane kinda high kinda hit winger winger challenged them kids not a fighter so he kind of turned it away. A winger turned around and he reached back and he pulled where you know back and he like kicked his leg out. I swear was like a pretzel. Roddy just i heard it and winger. Who's one of to this day. One of the toughest guys. I've ever known the screaming like he. He's i remember. He took his helmet. He threw it just that pain screaming. I was like this is insane. I mean it was. It was insane. I mean you know. Just hearing him. I could hear him scream. Like it was like an animal. You know and It was horrible because to be honest with you. If he played a full season. I promise you he probably was gonna put six hundred emily minutes and thirty goals. I promise you he was pushing. He would've had video game numbers if you go on his hockey db and look at if you know if you a full season what is eighty eighty two games. I'm telling you if you do the math average it out. She would have had insane numbers that year. I mean it was. It was ridiculous what he was doing Now is horrible. I remembered i was the second period and After the period ended you know we went to the room anna. Everyone's quiet it was just Everybody know and You know it was just it was just you know everyone. They probably should have just stopped the game. You know. I mean. I mean i mean. I know you can't do that but with us. And now you add that to the mix. I mean it was just it was from there was just well. There was a lot of things you guys should have been doing. So maybe that could have been one do yes including the way including the way. He wars equipment a wet. You see wingfield gear wear. Oh my goodness that might be some of the worst year of ever seen. I wouldn't even let him on the fuck nice knows zippers on his pants from some angles goal to beth. Oh jesus from some angles. I tell you what the shapes he was making with his equipment. How biggest shoulder pads. Were looking at the lineman defensive orel across an outdoor lacrosse. Yeah i would see. I would see him in the locker room to all look. I can just doing science experiments with some of this stuff. I mean he was like yeah. I cut the strap by do this. I do not want to shocker. Shin pads i mean man. He's a he's a character so the next year when they played when he came back and it was pretty cool to see that he did come back after doctor told him he may never play again. But you guys play kalamazoo who or whoever l. zanga was on. And you were down at the. You were down at the bench you the phone out you were given to you kind of see the fear in his eyes. Were you giving him shit as you were filming all that. So i'll tell you what it it's eighty percent of what you saw on. The documentary was my camcorder. My my home video camcorder. And i used to bring it to every game and i knew there was times where something was gonna jump off and i have it. It was before we had phones. You know they're all nextel back then so we didn't have camera phones which was cool so i would always bring the camcorder and Yeah i used to. You know. I used to give housing of that day. Was december third of two thousand five. I remember and Yeah it was. I am a member winger. That that he stayed with us in my house on that summer going into the second year rehabbing his his leg and i mean watching him. It was such a grueling rehab and I was sometimes. I talk to him i you know. Do you still want to do this like you know. And he's like no. I gotta get back i eat. I never saw someone worked so hard in my life And he just you know it was of like the schedule came out. And it was like december third kalamazoo. It was like you get that red marker out there and that was it. You weren't gonna tell him anything. I mean i even if my dad told him at that point you know he was gonna play in that game one way or the other. It's just there's no no question. I think you remember..

"Did that weekend are you guys are crazy. You guys are ruining the league. You know i'm trying to you know you guys. I'm trying to defend you guys with the other owners. You guys are out of your mind. I mean every monday he would yell at me like i'm sorry. Mister brazil i. I don't know of some of these things to be true but i'll clean it up you know we'll figure this thing out together receptionist. Tom devoted sell like miserable. Salvator together. let let's make this right. You know and then you know the next weekend would come and lord knows you know whatever we did and every single monday. He yell every single monday. I'd get ripped. I think he loved the attention personally. Just based on that documentary he was ending it up. One twelve was making him famous section month. Twelve one or maybe not of sexual one or two might go after business gone. I'm to i call that one. Twelve is that the old band. That's an honor being group. That's all apologies. We're gonna rebrand that. Does he draw he come off as a hoddle right away but then by the andy sounded like a garbage bin automated waste disposal under the doctor. He was kissing the ring by the end. But i i want to go good good. Say you know he really. I think specially during the second year. I think he really were seriously. We were when we were on the road. You know the people wanted competency us one way or the other. I mean we had this big black bus. You know is all wrapped in graphics and people with lineup. Like like like you know these little towns you know court sheron and fort wayne and you know it was like rocks. I mean it was like rockstars coming to town and they aided us. They loved us at the same time. It was crazy. I want to go back to the school again now. Your seventeen year old high school senior. How you pulling off running hockey team like this unbalancing studies and whatever else social life like your life must have been crazy. He bone was his tutor. Don't sit that's bad. No you know. I honestly it. Was you know when my dad when it came when it came to fruition that this is happening you know there was like a day or two. Why wanted right away to say that. I can't do this. I'm i'm a little nervous. Because i was. I was scared. I was like. I don't know what allen doing anyway. You know what i mean. I mean what's what's what's on my resume like nhl. Oh three. i played the year before. Like putting dean together. You know what i mean like what. What do i know how to put a team but again you know. I gave them my word even if i thought he was joking. I said okay. i'll do it. I can't go back on him on my word so you know what it was. It was scary though. Because you know again you know you really don't have a social life. You know what i mean. I'm i had a nice small core group of friends that were always around and help me with team to bounce ideas off each other and But no i mean it really. You know looking back. It really wasn't that. I mean it's not a normal thing so it was. It definitely took a toll on on a lot of different things. But i just thought you know what i gotta be there for my dad. He's always been there for me and frankly it was an opportunity to do something cool. And that's really all i thought about it that you are also a freshman in college too. Was that a big thing. Did that help you with the honey dips at all or was it like hockey couple shots in the dark with you and a couple of ladies. Don't think that you can talk to get into knows. Is tonight girls. it's gonna go. Yeah i'll get you down to the referee during periods. Well is it contrary to belief. You know i i really. I didn't talk about it much at school. Like there was obviously people who knew but i didn't like go around. It'd be like hey. I got a team in this tonight. I wasn't like that. So let's put it this way i really. I dropped the ball on that. Because i could've used that to my advantage for a lot of reasons but no i mean i you know i did alright but i i just i was seriously i got. I got a very obsessive personality. And i just got so obsessed with this team and it really it just. It took up the majority of my time now. We have a quick word from our friends at roman. Most guys have tried different ways to last longer. But thinking about who. You're gonna sign for your minor league hockey team in high school. Algebra class doesn't always work while the focus roman and online men's health company at changing the game with roman. Swipes the secret.

"If you've been scrawling on netflix at all the last two weeks then you've definitely seen his mug. Stand back you at some point. That's because the stream a captured his story of being a seventeen year old high school senior running a minor league hockey team bought by trash magnate. Father the untold docu series. The episode is called crimes penalties. And it's been tearing up social and hockey media. Syncing drop in website. The bring on the team president and general manager of the danbury trashes. Aj galazi thanks for joining us brother. How's it gone. Thank you guys. It's it's destiny where here one more person asked me i. This is the biggest thing in hockey. I'm like well it's not my show. I said i'm excited to be here pellets. Well listen i. I saw i. I heard about the show and immediately i go. This guy's coming on. We gotta get him on so it was only a matter time. No of course. Like i said i mean you guys i know you guys it a biggest thing going so i'm just i'm honored to be be apart. Asia hours just pissed off. I didn't get a call to play on the team at the time. 'cause i was looking through the roster and those are a few guys ended up tossing the knuckles down the road Listen it unfortunately. If if we were a little law we had a couple more seasons. I'm sure we would have. We would have crossed asks for sure one of which being nasty morass you now. They short think quickly in the documentary. They didn't have any any features on them. But what was your experience with him. in your short time with a man. I mean So it was a week after wingfield got hurt the first season and no such depleting situation losing brad and You know we had tough guys. Don't get me wrong me. We had a depth chart full of. But i'm like man i was like we lost that that and then we lost room in the door as well obviously because he got suspended basically the rest of the year so it was like man. What are we gonna do and literally out. I'm walking in one day and a guy stops me in the lobby. I've never. I don't remember his last name but his name was erik. He's like hey. Aj how you doing. Hey how you doing buddy. he's like. Hey my name's eric listen. I'm really good friends with this guy. He's speaking east playing in bakersfield right now and i'm like okay and he's like i gotta get them down here for you. I think you're gonna like them. I'm like okay eddie. So you know you hear things like this. And my okay buddy. Sure so. i gave him my card. I'm like listen. I'm like you know. Hit me up anytime i said. I'm willing to listen anyone. He sends me the next day like overnight. I get like a box of tapes and it says nasty morass. And i'm like what the hell is this so i put it in vhs and it's just as little little guy running around and and just i mean smiling just just dummying guy. Smile getting punched but laughing. I mean he had like this refrigerator. Head like a ball. I was like jesus. This guy's insane but He was smiling. You know if unlike all we gotta get this guy. And i call this guy eric. He put his card in there. And we just we just made it happen a so in in a documentary that had. I don't know twenty at least laugh. O loud moments. The one moment i was losing it was you were at school or wherever you are and everyone's like aj congrats party. That's unreal. you like what are you talking about. Your dad gave you know warning. No nothing all of a sudden you just heard he bought. The team owns a team. And i'm running it. Well like i said. And i told this story so many times. I wish it was a cooler story. But i was like a style. Never forget it was march two thousand four. We were sitting there. We're having dinner one night. And he's He's quiet usually when he's quiet. He's thinking and he finally you know kinda nudges me. And he's like. Hey listen. I'm gonna start a minor league hockey team here Probably in the fall. I'm like okay you know it was. You know my dad's random like that and he's very serious but even for me i would just like. What is this a joke. You know what i mean. He's just like yeah. I'm gonna we're gonna start in the fall. I'm like okay and he goes on. I want you to you know. I want you to be the president to run the team and i'm like okay. Dad sure no no problem. Yeah i was. I was kinda like joking back with them in a way and i was just like. Yeah sure i'll do it. That i thought he's being sarcastic with me so next thing i know he just nodded. He's like okay. Good good answer. So i a week later just like i said all of a sudden. We're i'm walking in school and no back in those days where they had newspapers in the in the library. And everyone's looking at me. Like i'm like what the hell and then sure enough a teacher was i congratulate. Oh my god. This is amazing. I was like. I go onto eglin the library theirs and i'm looking and i'm like i didn't even know what to say. But he didn't warn me it was just. That was our our verbal negotiation. At dinner that night it was just. I'm going to do it. And that was that was insane. I mean since the dock dropped. It's been like i said. All of hockey media social media has just been a whirlwind for the last weeks a media parents is. I've been seen everywhere.

"Yeah no you're right. I was gonna ask you about like do you. Surf around dudes like you'll sir dudes. Yeah i mean what what is like seventy or like i don't know I will go now. I've gotten over like okay. Hey i'm gonna suck like they can tell immediately the way you're paddling in and out of stuff. They they know whether or not am i terrible. No mean i can get up most of the day. It just doesn't go as well as i thought i. You know i gotta stop watching videos of dudes tear it up. Because i apparently that isn't going to happen. I don't know that was gonna the plan. But that's all right. I still when it's when it's a good day you're like all right. That's cool but i should be going way more often. But i can tell exactly what happens is a get up. I prep a tape. And then i wanna list and then i get back and it's a the the wind is the wrong way and it's all chopping the afternoon and you're like out and i should be out there. Six seventy m you know three mornings a week. It better cleaner waves. But if it's really really crowded beginning i'd go. I don't wanna go out there. Because i suck now. I'll just find a different part of break. Which maybe isn't as nice but i'm just not going enough. I'm just not going enough. And the reason i wasn't going for good wasn't because i didn't wanna get the water. It was lord of a hang-up of like. Hey i'm terrible. And honestly who gives a shit lance from redondo doesn't think i'm any good like the farmer who who's lance don't even know if lance is real so i i'm all you know the reason i think the life advice thing works is not because i think i'm so smart and i'm so disciplined and i do all this stuff it's probably because i fucked up most stuff so that's always kind of the point of this And so hopefully that helps a little surreal. You got anything to add there you. You'd like to do so. I could see you want to get like a mandolin. Go on but you think it's too late for you know not a mandolin but i definitely fallen victim of the. Oh what are people thinking about me want doing this. I'm not going to do it. Which sucks because like for example like. I was planes to pick up soccer. I didn't grow up. Playing soccer is zero. I touch. I have no skill is just kind of bring the energy and sometimes i'm not even great shape and there'll be times when like i do. I wanna run out there and like embarrassed myself in front gaza pointing college or whatever. They're going to be judged me and you know what they never do. They never judged you play hard. It's totally fine. And at the end of the day. When i come home. I'm super happy. That i actually did it. I gotta work out in. I was exercising. I was outside. i was doing something i like. I met some new dudes so you can get in your own head way too much about this stuff and we often think that people are constantly judging us would. Sometimes they are. And honestly if you're talking about lance redondo who cares about lance as you said but if you're having a good time and you're enjoying this in your life is being fulfilled because it then just do it man. You're going to be happy afterwards. That's why i don't golf goffin's a whole different story because actually golfers can be very judgy. Especially you're on. The i t in a bunch of dudes watching you. I've seen it so much on. Tv like people waiting for people to golf and finish their shit. That like i would be terrified. Or i would just totally cheat like all right. I can't have these guys weighed on me. So we'll just add a stroke here or something. I don't know here's what you gotta do that with golf. You gotta go with guys. That aren't great like you know because if you're if you're golfing as a new golfer with a scratch golfer is going to be awkward the entire time because that's got he's gonna be hitting great shots you're going to be lacking behind you're going to feel self conscious about you kind of have to go with other guys that suck yeah. I'm petrified and i don't know any guys that sucks so i think just being the state forever young. I'll tell you right now like the gulf thing you could you could also just golf with people. That aren't assholes you golf with your friends and yes. If there's somebody's never golfed foreign three guys out there have been swinging it for twenty plus years. You're not their first choice. But if they're your friends than they understand. I remember the second time i ever went. And i went with the guy that owned the bar that i was managing and i was like twenty one. Maybe you know. I think it was like summer after everybody graduates gone so i was still up there and i went to like a local course. Wasn't that great of a course in there was a bunch of light guys that were like local vermonter types. You know late twenties early thirties. Which you know. At the time they feel like they're eighty when you're just out of college and you know hit an iron shot and i completely topped. it missed. It was like straight up embarrassing and they all sat there and laughed at me. And i looked at him. And i'm like you haven't seen your dick in a fucking month like hey you guys can all like take it easy. I was pissed and then the guy that owned the place. Who's kind of a bad ass was was like. Hey it's the second time golfing ever guys like. Are you guys serious with this shit right now and i was in the thing is like hey just just keep going. I mean that's kind of one of the bigger lessons in life like it. Sucks that any of this stuff happens. You know what i mean like. Just think how much happy you it'd be really to try this thing out. Be terrible at for won't be judged not having about it and then i'm going to go ahead and do.

"Know after after pickup hoops. You might say that. There's nothing wrong with that brad. Brad cake is hey boys. I'm gearing down here over. Start working out all right. Speaking of we got an email here not about pull pull ups. Don't worry about it learning ama- later life. Jerry do Here we go six one to ten twenty eight years old one a little bulk during corona probably around twenty percent body fat. Miss the summer kat But i also feel a lethargic Also don't really want to not be able to see my lower abs okay. Plus i live in florida winners thing but getting to my question. I'm the third child the four two older brothers and younger sister. My family's littered with bad asses martial artists everywhere. Grandfather marine uncle in the army. Dad was a navy sailor. Black belt who was active in training. My older brothers who subsequently went on to do the same. There's about a ten year gap between my older brothers and me so we didn't have the same experience my father was in his forties and i was born and I as a kid with short attention span. Either say my dad was also a little older and didn't for whatever reason forced me into training in karate. I guess here all right. And if i'm being honest i would lack discipline in my childhood so it never took studying martial arts fast forward now of become a pretty avid u. of c. Fan and i have growing interest in the philosophy behind martial arts. Long story Am i too old start training. Obviously i'm not trying to become a pro here. But i don't think my ego will allow you to walk classes start. Throwing front leg kicks With a bunch ten year olds in addition others that line from gnaws playing my head. We made fun of jay z for being thirty. And karate class the tai-bo boho line condos. What's up bottom line. Lines applies you a bunch of different things in my life where. I can't seem to check my ego enough to try new things. Fear being bad or making fool myself any advice and try new things. In spite of this fear Would be helpful. Thanks okay what i'm reading. Here is a guy that he wants to do this. But he's he cares what people think We've said this a lot on the potty. It'd be awesome. You know the people that the number of people that think they don't care what people think in the number of people that actually don't care what people think is that's a wide gap and most of us care certain elements of here. But my guess is if you're if you're on your own in a tower like nobody knew you were thought you were thirty and depending on what discipline that you wanna study The only hangup is all this bullshit. It doesn't mean anything all right yes. You don't wanna be in a class with a bunch of little kids It's the worst. You don't want to be doing that but you you need to find is and it's the same thing. I know exactly what you're saying like you've kind of liked to learn how to be a bad ass you might not just be just. You may not be wired. Like brad wingfield so. I don't know that that's going to happen. Maybe you are But the whole line of like. Hey i don't want actually like be in the octagon in three years. Don't worry you probably not going to be good enough So don't worry about that but there's definitely a place where you can find. Whatever it is that you need Whether it's you know getting your ass kicked for a little while all right well that should motivate you but like showing up and not being good at it. That's where everybody else started. And yes they did it when they were younger than you and now you're a little bit older but it sounds like you really want to do this in your only hangup is all the stuff that doesn't matter nother what does it matter. If do you think they think you're going to be good the first time you roll around and grapple with them. Nope you think you're going to start checking their kicks or your forum is going to be awesome on stuff. Nope like is going to be hard to keep your arms up for a couple of minutes the first time you ever do it couple minutes health thirty seconds. You don't saying so you're going to suck it all of this but they expect you to suck at it. What what they'll respect is depending on again who you're working with year is cheap showing up to get your ass kicked and come back and putting in the effort and then improving so we all look all of us. I'm not as good at surfing right now as i thought it was going to be. I'm just not. I have great opportunity to get better at it and it's a little bit like golf. Where every time you know like when you suck it golf you don't want to golf as much and a pie. Can't believe like i'd go down to maui. And i was up all day and then i come back to manhattan beach. I'm like just sometimes. I'm just not hitting that perfect moment of making my decision of when to get up and turn the board into the wave. I should be better but also should be better because they should be going more. But there's times if it's really crowded and there's like a nice clean break but there's a bunch of guys lined up and gets manhattan beach over here so it's not like we're in santa cruz But i'll be like. I don't wanna go out there as i suck and it's the wrong so i'm giving you advice that i don't listen to but the reason of giving it's used because i know exactly what you're going through so there you go.

Show something very simple You guys of play along If you email life advice constantly with your portfolio we're just going to delete them all because we don't care that much but it's just something that we did on the radio show and did we do. It's certainly we did it with impel and then canal ruined it right once. We did it with canal. Yeah there's kind of a love dante. But there's kind of a habit there. I i don't remember exactly what did i. There was like some price manipulation. I think you know we were talking about jameis winston price beforehand which is a total scam. Sure danny would have been over that beforehand. Because his prices like a dollar fifty now which of course is to go. Up is basically a no brainer. I don't remember exactly. What danny did. He just ruined all the games he just did and we love him but every time it became this thing he would find ways like when we did the fantasy. Qb thing where we had like just a quarterback he would go into the commercial break and then say hey. I picked up a guy where like now. There's like a waiver part is you can't just randomly picking up guys who five weeks five days of the show and now i did it. That's what i did and you just be like all right so hey guess what. She wouldn't let anyone go to comiskey park wingfield baseball games but she was in the paper sky box with her family. She could do things no one else can do. And they're the same. The police officers were attacked and beaten and they are afraid to pull their weapons out absolutely. I'm glad that you brought up that example mike because there was a similar incident just a few days ago in boston in front of the boston public library where police three police officers were brutally beaten by someone who they were wanting to arrest in who is of course resisting arrest. You are right. Mayor lightfoot does not care about police. Where is her outrage about this again. Just last thing that i played a video of her responding and she was just saying. Tokyo Olympics: Officials Report First Covid Cases in Athletes' Village

"Now before the opening of the Olympics, and there's a number of athletes and officials testing positive, of course now Tokyo itself has brought in emergency measures. There's talk of being basically 1/5 wave of the virus in Japan and Rupert Wingfield Hayes has been speaking to some of the senior officials and joins us now but first, Rupert, can you bring us up to date with Not only who and how many have have tested positive, but also if we know anything about how they contracted the virus. What can you tell us? So the number we're talking about now inside the Olympic bubble 55 confirmed cases of covid testing positive. Um in the Olympic village yesterday, three people, So that's the first cases inside the Olympic village of actual athletes, and that's three members of the South Africa. South African football team tested positive Two players and one coach. And then today we've heard the team G B. So the Great Britain team eight members of that team have had to self isolate after arriving in Japan because they have had close contact with someone who tested positive on the flight over from London to Tokyo. There But none of those members of team of team GB have tested positive themselves yet and we hope obviously they don't but they are being told to isolate and they'll have to go through several PCR test before they can get back into training, so that's the sort of disruption inside the Olympic bubble. Outside. We're getting daily numbers of over 1000 new cases of covid amongst the general population in Japan every day now

Well, that was from 1989 1 of the most successful missions of its kind. It was the first spacecraft to take pictures of pretty much the entire surface of Venus before it burned up in the fiery atmosphere about five years later, now the US space agency Has announced to new missions to the planets. Despite the fact that Venus is the closest planet to earth and similar in size and mass and density and composition. It's received less attention than Mars and other destinations in the solar system in recent years, primarily because it's so hot, it's dense atmosphere traps heat from the sun, and that leads to temperatures. Of more than 470 degrees Celsius in some places, but scientists have long believed that Venus may once have harbored. Seas of surface water potentially suitable for life before unknown forces triggered that extreme greenhouse effect, and their interest was rekindled recently when astronomers said that they detected compelling evidence for the presence of a molecule in the clouds around Venus called Falls Feen, which would seem to

End of Abe era leaves Japan still searching for way forward

"Your Shahida Suda as the country's new prime minister on Monday. 71 year old Mr Suder was overwhelmingly elected as the leader of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, replacing Shinzo Abe has dominated Japanese politics for the past eight years. Mr was expected to serve until the end of next year, but announced suddenly he was stepping down last month, pleading poor health. There's now concerned that Japan could be about to return to what became known as revolving door politics when the country changed Prime Minister's almost every year, Rupert Wingfield Hayes reports. Yeah. You see that pit shuttle get this's something No one would have predicted even a few weeks ago. 71 year old Yoshida super being proclaimed leader of Japan's all powerful Liberal Democratic Party. And by default, the country's new prime minister. Mr Sugar is not known for his charisma or his oratory. And as he made his rather ponderous victory speech, you can hear why you know anybody. Ronnie. Still cocaine. I want to break down bureaucratic divisions invested interests, he says on the blind adherence to president indication to form a cabinet that will work hard for the people. That takes a kike Agos, Cary Most Japanese, No, Mr Sugar as Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's long serving grim faced spokesman Up till now. He has always been a backroom guy. A fixer. He has none of the charm or diplomatic skills. Mr Abba used TTO win over President Donald Trump. But according to those who know him like economists and long term Tokyo resident Yes, Bacall, Mr Sugar brings other attributes to the game. Here is a man who gets up at five o'clock in the morning. Does 100 sit ups and then reads all the newspapers and by 6 30. He's starting meetings right with business people with advisers, you know, with outside economists, he absorbs like a sponge and wants to get things done for the country. He's not interested in any of the glitz or blink that comes with war nongovernment. The problem for Mr Suder. Is he has no mandate from the Japanese people. His elevation to the top job was a stitch up by L. V P. Party bosses in smoke filled back rooms. Perhaps because of that much is being made of Mr Segers Humble background. The son of a strawberry farmer, he worked in a cardboard factory to pay his way through college. He's certainly very different from most of Japan's recent prime ministers like Mr Abbott, the silent of a powerful political dynasty, but in the scheming world of Japanese politics Rashid, a circus. Humble origins could also be his undoing. According to Professor Koichi Nakano of Tokyo's Sophia University. Mr Silva comes from a humble background. He really doesn't have his own power base. You know, he doesn't belong to any faction on DH. He actually, you know, Rose to power because he was Mr B's preferred choice on the party bosses rally behind him, You know, emergency situation. "House of Parliament has appointed you Shahid, a saga is the country's new prime minister. He takes over from Shinzo are they after easily securing the governing Liberal Democratic Party leadership on Monday, Mr Sieger, the former Cabinet secretary, is known as a tough fixer rather than a charismatic leader. From Tokyo. He's our correspondent Rupert Wingfield Hayes. So when he gets back from the palace, he will hold a press conference as the new prime minister, and he will announce his new Cabinet that hasn't formally being done yet. But there's been loads of speculation in the media already about It's makeup. Mr Seeger claims that he is goingto have a cabinet that will really work for the Japanese people. But what we've seen already, if this cabinet turns out to be true that it is a careful balance. Representing all of the major factions in the LDP, who supported the vote for him to become prime minister. And that's already leading to speculation here that Mr Sieger is really going to be controlled by the faction leaders in the LDP who got together in a back room to make him the new prime minister.

"I don't know how much derby influence this feels can have. But I'll tell you what I think. There are some really nice horses in here. That WanNa do this one turn mile and see if maybe one of them can Can Get the job done and move forward on that Derby trailing. Yeah Yeah I think it's a pretty nice field You know may not be an contain any derby contenders like you said but you know. I certainly think they're handful in here. Who are going to make this an entertaining an interesting race. The one I could see four or five of them winning. It's one where he'd probably end up having a spread but there were of them that I was kind of interested in You know what a horse that. I'm pretty fond of the Montauk traffic. I like young horses. Who are able to overcome adversity. And that's exactly what. This horse did First Time that was just Don't know what happened. She dwelt early and he did. And that was the end of it from the rail in the slop at Laurel you toss that race and and I mean he did exactly what you want a prospect to stretching out prospect to do he was able to sit able to make a run and pass runners and he was impressive in both of his next two wins the maiden when Downstairs in the and the Wingfield win. Also at seven eighths Settled inside didn't have a problem kicked out and And was able to run away from his competition. So I I don't think a mile Distance will be much of a problem for him. I just don't know how much upside he really has. You know. He's a gritty horse and He's one that I wanNA use but the one who I'M GONNA put on top of the three wars stop or I love the way that he improved. First Time in Blaker is just second time on dirt last time here at the The Mile trip here and act when I turned in a big beyer speed figure went right to the front And just kept on going. I think he is one that I want to keep an eye on moving forward. I think he'll be a decent prospect stretching out to to turn on the on the dirt and I'm GONNA give shops go right from his maiden win to Earning grade three status here in the In the Gotha. Yeah. I'm definitely. He's my topic as well. I'm a big fan of wall stopper. I liked what I saw from him. First Time Out Less time out rather when he got the meeting win. First Time blinkers. I should say now. That was a big effort. Thought Mischievous Alex might have some distance limitations. But it's hard to argue. How good he's been in his last two starts. Since his trainer John Service added the blinkers to his repertoire. I don't think six does without a chance from an ever Keough. Sauna current one turn mile. Got The goose ca pedigree on the bottom. I don't know how far this was gonna WanNa go with the one turn. Mile shouldn't be a problem and Necker island Friday he won going a mile in the slop. At Churchill downs just stopped got out running swell last time. The miles should be more to his Liking as he's already won distance and we'll see him. I under neath. I think it's wide open. I think war stopper shows up. They're all running the second money. I'm a big fan of his An of all these sources. I think him He's probably the one most likely to move on the Derby Trail. Regardless of what happens tomorrow. He can get beat tomorrow and maybe still move forward. I'd like to see him win But if he got beat I'd still think he can be contender. Might be the only one more stop for both of us in the grade. Three three hundred thousand dollar.

"wingfield" Discussed on The Political History of the United States

"Among the group of seven was Edward Wingfield. Who drew the distinction of being elected the first president of the colony? Wingfield was an obvious choice to be the first president of this colony Wingfield have been one of the original investors in it and was one of the only dusters other than John Smith and his nominal investment. Who went along to the colony in person and didn't just hang back in London waiting for the money to roll in. Well, in obvious choice to be the president of the colony Wingfield would be met with everything from general contempt to outright hostility. The problem for Wingfield is that he failed to ever adapt to the realities of being in Virginia. The class divisions between the gentlemen, Labor's was already something that was causing problems. And rather than proposing a solution to the problem Wingfield failed to even recognize that there was a problem to begin. With Wingfield himself would likely have made no effort to hide the fact that as a gentleman he was entitled to or than the peasantry of the colony Wingfield would put this theory to test early on and found himself accused of gross mismanagement of food stores. Wingfield was accused of taking more than his fair share will others in the colony starved to death. The other council members agreed with these concerns and drafted charges against him. Wingfield through several defenses in accumulations. However, his primary defense was that the lower class citizens had no legal right to accuse him of anything. This argument fell short and in September of sixty seven Wingfield was relieved of his duties as president and was deported back to London. Following the end of Wingfield presidency. The Tasca governing the colonies fell to John Ratcliffe reckless head come across the Atlantic. As the captain of the discovery. Well, a promotion to president is generally something to be celebrated for Rackliff. It would prove to be something of a disaster. Reckless tenures, president would see. Hi, mouse of death and disease colonist, George Percy rotor that time that the settlers that were still living were intense and holes in the ground Percy described hearing the moaning of the Connors as they laid dying throughout the night. Things did look a bit in January of sixteen. Eight win kept in Newport made his long awaited return about five weeks after his promise return. What? Newport returned to was shocking. Only thirty eight out of that group of one hundred four settlers were still alive than we discussed powered ends miscalculation when dealing with the English colonists. And that costs a conveyor belt of settlers of the English had the ability to send to North America. This conveyor belt kicks in with Newport's return along with applies. Newport, brought with him an additional one hundred twenty settlers this means that despite the massive amount of death and disease. The is indigent ury of sixteen. Oh, wait with a net gain, a fifty four colonists. This would be an ongoing theme for the colony regardless of how bad things got the English were always able to replace their numbers. A few months later in April and other fifty one settlers would reach the colony, and it is worth noting that among the second set of fifty settlers are the first women to make the trip. Reddicliffe time as president was just as short as Wingfield and July sixteen o eight Ratcliffe tenure of the presidency ended Greenwich year is the leader of the colony reckless continued to deal with disease and death, and therefore it should not come as a surprise. That ref cliff was a very unpopular leader. Next up on the big stage was John Smith, and he is going to take over the colony eg finally get it onto a somewhat solid footing. Smith was met with a mixed reaction. In the colony in his later writing Smith would show contempt towards the people coming to James with the sole intention of searching for gold Smith complained that these men were contributing nothing to the colony rather sought nothing, but their own personal riches. Quigley after swimming power in the colony Smith instituted a minimum six hours per day in the field rule the punishment for violating the minimum six hour. Workday was quite simple. If you don't work, you don't eat the public- was met with general throughout the colony the gentlemen of the colony view this as completely outside of what they were therefore they were accustomed to such work and had really no intention to do it. And Furthermore, working the field for six hours per day. Well, that's six hours per day when they're not gonna be able to go out and see golden riches Smith would frequently complain about the low quality of labor. He was seen complaining that the worst of lended have been sent with him Virginia. Despite a way spread dislike of the policies and practices of John Smith. The colony actually moved in the direction of self sufficiency drain sixteen o eight if that by the time sixty nine rolled around Smith at manage to plant thirty acres of corn because any increase their amount of livestock and things were generally looking up. And we'll the colony is self was seen better times and was on the road to self sufficiency. It was during this period that we see relations with the pouty. Federally begin to sour. The question shifts therefore to why were the relations beginning to so seriously deteriorate green his time is president John Smith had done much to make the Connie more self sufficient, however, the fact remained that the colonists were still hanging on by just a thread during the summer of sixty eight Smith did everything he could to collect as much corn as possible from power did. Smith made clear that his beliefs were that the powder and people owed him the corn. And that if they didn't willingly provide it he had few qualms with simply seizing it. Smith in his role had some success in trading with powered Smith tactic was to essentially force the power and confederacy into the paradigm of European Court grana conversation with powered brother over shinkin out. Smith reminded him that it is fit for a king to keep his promises. The problem with this. However is that to call powered king was to elevate him to something higher than what Smith would have ever intended. Whether or not Smith knew this is unclear but his also been goal of the Virginia company was converted poet into a vassal state of England. It seems unlikely that Smith would have you pegged as anything less than a future subject of the young English empire for Smith. However, he had little choice is people remain dependent on Paladin, and at least to this point Smith maintain the best over. Hall relation with an Indian leader amongst the group. It shouldn't come as a surprise. Then that the starving. Time comes immediately following John. Smith's departure from Jamestown. Propel in this presents him would do a problems as well. It can be speculated that his initial agreement to provide corner James how came on the basis of him exerting power what better way to contain a college them, become the food supplier. It provides protection for power is people because the English colonists would be hesitant to kill the people who are feeding them. Why quiz should the piloting confederacy come under attack from another source? He would have a powerful ally. In the English the English could not allow powered into lose power. The lease had a manageable relationship with him and would be positioned to have to protect him for potential enemies. Finally should him want to curb the growth or even eliminate the colony. He had control over their food supply. If he cuts off the English the problem is easily solved they're going to starve to death and die. But for pellet in it appears that he has underestimated the amount of corn that the colonists were going to require remem-. After that, the pellet people were semi nomadic. They worry people used to having to ration food will they did have a certain amount of surplus that they used to trade and UCF through the difficult times they lacked the ability to be the sole supplier to the English at best. The ability pout was providing supplemental food supplies in December of sixty eight Smith met with powered and engaged in a tense negotiation. With him pellet knew that the English were hungry and dependent on him for food powered an offer to trade with them. But demanded that the price be paid in stealing guns now for the English that appears to stood as their line in the sand. Well, they showed willingness to negotiate trade. There is a strong reluctance to provide powered and with weapons the English were well aware that the weapons provided entry to pout and could well end up being used against them a future conflict. According to John Smith following a serious speech where he vowed to never see seeking revenge upheld and not provide for Jamestown would remain a close friend if he did powder relented and agreed to treaty small amount of corn on this occasion, without getting weapons back in return, the truth of whether or not this ever took place is absolutely debatable with a significantly barrier. Still existed between powder and Smith is seems unlikely this myth could have delivered such a speech effectively. Likewise, there does seem to be the widespread question about the veracity of Smith's claims later writings as previously discussed John Smith was not above embellishing. Regardless of the circumstances. However, poet in does make clear through these future interactions that his continued support of the English was not a sustainable model. Pouted informed Smith that should the English. Get more aggressive. He would remove his people in high deep in the woods where the English would not be able to reach him. This wasn't an idle threat either from Howitt as previously discussed this group was semi nomadic. They had moved before, and they would openly move again for the English pushing too hard man potential starvation. Making matters worse for the English and October of sixty nine Smith suffered a very serious burn John Smith use this acid excuse to give up the presidency and return to London. Smith would never again return to North America. By this point, John Smith, had become deeply unpopular amongst the other colonists Smith struggle Muniz, colonists and often found himself fighting to keep the colony under control despite this, however, one of the places that Smith does seem to excel in his dealings is with powerded spiff in pallid, and certainly have a tense relationship. But it is Smith who seem to have some understanding of his positions following Smith's exit. The Connie was left in the hands of George Percy. George Percy is going to have far less luck dealing with pouted. These relationships are best exemplified from an incident that took place in December of sixteen nine with food supplies seriously, dwindling impel. Did not supplying the colony with food the English decided to take a more aggressive stance. Led by John Ratcliffe, a pilotless struck to help arm powered into giving more food now before you ask. Yes, we did in the area of Rackliff as the leader of the quality in this episode. So none of this is actually going down during that time where he's leading the colony. However, John Ratcliffe did remain in Jamestown. And at least for a few more minutes is going to remain a prominent colonist. So what was this great plan? Well, it appears that in order to get powered into work with him Ratcliffe at his group. Went ahead and took two appellative children hostage. It is unclear if these were actually physical children of powder or rather were just children of his tribe, regardless. However Rackliff was attempting to procure food through a new more aggressive style of negotiation. And I think it can go completely without saying here that Paladin was not amused by these new tactics Poten in lead ereck cliff and his party to compete with him to discuss providing the colony with food. And upon reaching and settlement Ratcliffe released the boy and the girl whom he had taken into custody. Pellett in however, had no intention to simply let a challenge to his sovereignty go without a challenge. Needing to make clear that he was not going to simply provide corn onto band powdered, lured the colonists into a trap. The men who had a company Radcliffe to meet powered and were summarily executed while men did manage to escape back to the both that reckless at his minute traveled on those who remained aboard the boats managed to get
