And we did all these people the Padre Pio by location. You ever think about that? And imagine it So anyway, there she is. In the window. Two ft from my face, and she said, Well, hello. And I said Mother to raise it. How wonderful. Uh and she put out her hand. And that's what I was going to tell you. There was a handshake. Yeah. And this handshake Now this was before Make Sagar a year before you met Mick Jagger. This was the most exquisite handshake that I have ever Ever until that moment experienced in my life. That woman's heart and soul were in her hand. Shake the warmth, the beauty of it. She was so warm and open to Thomas and me. She chatted with us a little. When she shook my hand. I kissed her hand. I was so moved by by God creating this insane coincidence. This weird place where we We got our own private little moment with her. In a pickup truck and a pickup truck. And I'll I have to say is the two greatest handshakes I ever had in my life were from a saint and a bit of a demon. Yeah, that's about right. As you said them was, was an on groping kind of a gap. "You're able to you know they've sort of tried to to to keep people running with minimal privileges while not inconveniencing people who occasionally need to install a program for example anyway. The bad news is what microsoft did failed to resolve the other trouble which was the remote code execution vulnerability. They you know they did something toward limiting privileges but not keeping random code from being provided remotely and running so as we also explained last week it turns out that over the years while windows was quietly requiring the prince buhler service to always be running it was also adding some fancy new on the fly printer driver installation options and there in lies the problem. And it's actually a problem. That microsoft is now saying we're not going to be fixing that but we'll get to that in a second in a big networked office environment. What happens if your locals wind your local windows client. You know the machine that you're perched in front of doesn't currently contain a driver for some printer in another on campus building for example to which you've been told to send something so wouldn't it be slick apparently thought microsoft if windows could see that it's michigan needed driver for that printer. Go find it somewhere. Typically from the printer server that is trying to access have it installed like a tottenham asli into your local machine for you to then print through that now present driver to a remote printer that need you to have that driver in order for you to to it without all like having had this all happened. The background in this case in answer to are often posted rhetorical question. What could possibly go wrong. We learn that bad guys have figured out how to trick windows into downloading their mel there by disguising it as a printer driver and saying to windows the equivalent of ono. We need this printer. Driver now microsoft describes this capability which was added like way back in windows two thousand as point and and so in their description of point imprint. They say point in print is a term that refers to the capability of allowing a user on a windows. Two thousand and later client is still here today with us to create a connection to a remote printer without providing disks or other installation media. Of course the south of this was written back in windows two thousand what actually had disc or installation media like. Oh it's in the box. Oh i have a box so anyway. They said all necessary files and configuration. Information are automatically downloaded from the print server to the client. Isn't that handy. they said. Point and print technology provides two methods. By which you can specify files that should be sent from the printer. Server to the client machine files could be associated with a printer driver. These files are associated with every print queue that uses the driver or.

"Think during the event. Mike my prediction is. They're not even going to address. This is that the last version of windows thursday. They should they do it in a fun way. Should be funny. But i doubt they will be the next version of winning. They should bring up a clip jerry and be like remember this guy. Yeah we fired morning and jazz kidding you know and then you no of course you know just to see if he had anything to say so Tell it come on now. Really all we care about is tell us what is you know. It's it's all look is it. Nice company said it. Looks like a mac it to me. Well chrome it. Looks like chrome. Os is wrong. It may be more more to the point. It looks like windows. Ten x right. This is the windows ten x you. I brought over to big win does for lack of a better term Of course because it is big windows. It's better than when connects was. It also looks better. Just running on real hardware like You know windows next. We were running in a virtual machine and kind of flat and plain. You know if you think back to like the arrow days when it was like arrow basic was really terrible looking in flat and then they had aero glass and it was kind of awesome. I mean this is kind of like that. It's this is like the glass version. It's got some translucence going on Is is you know a better looking i. This is going to be controversial for people There's no doubt about it. There are people who are going to complain about the simplicity of the kind of dumbing down of the. They're going to be people who claim or complain about money Member hello muscle memory issues. Where all windows versions since windows ninety five i've had started over the lower left corner and then the icons kinda come out from there now. It's centered so as you run in. Close apps ooh the positions are going to change lohan points to the left tr. Move all of it. Like i'd actually like to see the start button. Stay over the left and have the icon spin the middle but Let me just make one point about the the center thing people have theorized about wide screen displays why might they do cetera. Et cetera This is the way the back has worked since two thousand one right when when apple introduced the doctor with mac. Os ten the first. One in the middle in the middle it's been there ever since and Hundreds of millions of people use that system. Every single data seems to work. Okay so i throw that out there. I know people you people freaking but like some mary. Jo i think said yes you can. There is an option in there if you want it over on the side anyway. More modern design which it is literally whether you're talking about setting it up or using it. It his windows ten so that just begs the question because mary jo was kind of thinking. Maybe it'd be more of a consumer targeted windows versus the end windows. Ten would continue as business but it sounds like maybe this is just the next version of windows. Well no no no. I don't think that changes anything that she said to be. Honest The way that this thing will be delivered or not delivered. We still don't know and it's very possible by the way there's a registry This registry entries. You can screw around with that will go back to an tent. So that tells me there's a switch that you can enable a disabled. We have new. Ui all you. I and her idea that businesses will be able to move forward for some amount of time. I went into ten. I think it's still very valid attitude. Because i think i think this is the next windows but i think they learned their lesson. I hope from windows eight and it's not just going to be like an now. We're doing this. It's going to be like we're gonna give you a run up to this right. Yeah i mean. I think it's fair to say that any consumer. Pc this assuming this comes out at the end of this year it will be Any consumer pc sold this holiday season. We'll probably come with this thing on it right in. There won't be a choice. you're not going to get like a little tile. Want the old one of the new one. I mean i. I think this is you know going to be the mainstream thing going forward but i'm one of the many lessons windows. Ten was businesses reacted very violently to a lot of this support upgrade ideas that microsoft had and this might be the final big concession. Okay we can stick with the the fact that idea. I'll sleep a switch in there. That says yeah because you i who cares and by the way that too is microsoft tradition that we kind of lost track of. And i'm not going to remember the exact version but if you think about microsoft evolve the like the start menu in windows. Xp was the first big change to the start menu but windows xp had a an optional. You go back to the traditional windows. Two thousand south start menu right And i don't remember when that stopped being the case probably will probably windows eight. You know frankly. But i don't remember Them offering you to go back to the old. Ui switchback deal. The i e. Even if it's only businesses i think is in keeping with that tradition and for a kind of a customer. Centric company like microsoft. Is maybe the right way to go mart. Very smart yes okay. I'm going to tell you the thing i've seen. I've been watching everybody running. I'm not running this bill. Because i'm not a meeting warble. Honestly you guys are all going to laugh. When i tell you party party probably already knows. I'm going to say here. My the feature that got the most excited yesterday was the new snap. Oh yeah well i saw. I actually know you happened to mention that to me separately. I do know that right. So if you hover over the maximize button instead instead of having some weird esoteric thing you have these different grid layouts of how you want to snap the windows mike. Finally i'm going to be able to use snap. This is Snap is one of several features in windows and this is not unique to windows. I think stuff like this and the mac. Ios whenever but that are just kind of not discoverable right Snap as a way to organize windows on screen. And i think a lot of people kind of understand you have two things side by side but there are other configurations you could have four windows whatever It's it's something it's possible by hitting certain on the keyboard you would stop and not know how you did it and then you're like well. I might want to do this again. How do you know. so this is like It's a little It's like a drop down window or whatever but box that you can do it. Yeah and i liked that because it makes snap discoverable. It doesn't to help you learn that keyboard shortcuts cat but now i had no idea there was one and so when i posted yesterday i love the new snap. I hope this stays the way it is. There are two different responses. I got on twitter. Was what a snap. I wanna since disease and everyone else was like your ears. Were stupid than a toddler with that was actually. You can't squad. I muted that person. And i said toddlers unite goodbye and then but but i'm like so i. I've always found it very difficult to get snapped to work on the first try and so i just stopped using it. I'm just like yeah. If i could defend you for a second microsoft's Research user research has shown that most windows users don't even know all tab exists tab existed probably windows two point. Oh i don't remember it to beat exactly but Yeah staff is a relatively new Development it only really became what it is now in like windows eight one probably exactly ban wasn't nato because remember eight. Oh snap is like a little tiny call. That was impossible. I can never ever snap on windows. Eight let me throw it. Here's a conspiracy theory for you or at least a theory. I i saw that. If you look at it let me look at it now. Say it When i look at those little thumbnails of the different configurations i see two screens..

"Earlier. Is this notion of a new store. And also the ability for developers to take apps it used to be only for the store and package them for delivery to consumers or anybody outside of the store. And i wonder if we get doesn't play into this new store slash alternate ways of deploying software. You know Because when get has a few of the things that you get with the store right this notion of your acquiring software from hopefully trusted source. It's keeping up to date the background. it's i wonder sometimes if this didn't happen to arrive at some future we'll call it a wind windows eleven store slash other ways of getting software out into the world right it needs a gui for one thing etcetera etcetera but It seems like it could be the basis of it. There's all the web stuff and web is this story all its own and is flatter and flatter does desktop apps to and the the you know this too that So you've lot of choices but that's the that's when is is i mean it used to be like we used to kind of worry like what's a windows app like. What is the win is app. Everything's a windows app. I mean we're at the point now where developers can use whatever they want and consumers users. Whatever don't have to worry about. It doesn't matter how these things were built right. They work and they have dated features like notifications an offline and blah blah blah. Yeah i mean that's a really interesting point how we i mean I suppose it could be looked at as a as an upside. This push this You know we we pushing this outside of our comfort zones into new areas. While i mean you have to. Nail henrik conference on. Cybersecurity has never been Comfort right it's always been complex. It's always been hard to. Let's just call it like it is wanted to communicate to people to help you understand the value of it and three and i think the foremost is actually enabling it right because too often what i've learned over my years as a people it's still a compelling event meaning that a unless something happens to me i don't worry about it and it's so much like law enforcement is it's a lot around activities you know. Let's just take a home environment if the house around the street got broken into prior to that happening. You didn't do anything but now that it got close to home. What are you going to do. you're going to either. Go get a big dog. You're gonna put cameras up. You can put an alarm system. The problem we have today is that we're reactive versus proactive and cybersecurity has been that way for last year. I would say ten years of not fifteen years as very reactive and we're still reactive today. Even though we're being pushed outside of our comfort zone i mean. Think about kobe. Nineteen it was reactive right. We had to move quickly to To accommodate a remote workforce bauer coming back and doing what trying to figure out what holds that. I open to enable that from that reactive aspects. so it's a very interesting you'll bell curve that. Have you gotten yours Ashley. No no well I did. So if you get the whole whole office sick I'll be safe. I'm GonNa make sure that by the time this episode comes out. I will have gotten it all right anyway. becks is study. I mentioned we know. The flu spreads through direct or indirect contact with someone who is infected or through aerosols including coughing sneezing or even just breathing for longtime I am a scientist thought that when it spread through the air like in a cough sneeze the virus would become inactive pretty quickly but it turns out that are mucous actually protects text the virus and the researchers behind this study have unpublished data suggesting the virus can persist for up to sixteen hours in a stable indoor or environments. There's a good chance to conserve in the air for an entire day. Yuck a not telling you this to freak you out though. I'm telling you this because there are little things you can do to remove. Remove the flu virus from the air that is in addition to the classic advice of handwashing wiping down frequently touched surfaces and coughing into your shirt rather than your hand to get to the droplets first off increasing the air circulation in a room can dilute flu viruses in the air and limit their spread. You can do this by increasing racing the exchange rate of building ventilation systems turning on ceiling portable fans and although it could get a bit chilly by opening windows. Second second it turns out that air purifiers designed to remove particles should be effective at removing viruses from the air. To although it hasn't been tested directly a purifier purifier with a filter and a high flow rate will remove the most particles and finally consider wearing a surgical mask. If you're sick to protect those around you if you're not sick but you're around. People who have the flu wearing a surgical mask will help. As long as it's tight fitting if there are gaps around the sides then. It's not helping much. These simple measures could significantly decrease the number of infections every year. But one more time. Please get your flu shot if you haven't already

How Can You Escape a Sinking Car?

"Have you ever considered what would happen if you were trapped in your car. What if you ran off the road into a body of water and started to sink. What do you know what to do. Would you be able to break a window to who escape. Those questions are the heart of a study released in two thousand nineteen by the American Automobile Association or AAA. The report actually looks at the different types hypes of glass in a car and how that glass can affect your chances of escape. If you had to break a window to get out you might not know it but the glass for your car's windshield might be different from the glass in the windows some might be tempered glass and some might be laminated glass eliminated glasses designed not to break even in a crash to decrease the odds that someone in the car will be objected and that matters because if you need to get out in an emergency you might not be able to even using car scape tools designed to help you. The AAA study showed that most car scape tools were effective at breaking tempered glass but not laminated glass in fact none of the tools tested in the study were able to completely completely breakthrough laminated glass a few were effective at spider webbing the glass. Only an increasing number of new vehicles have switched from using tempered side glass windows windows two laminated side glass windows as many as one in three two thousand eighteen vehicles. That's in response to federal safety standards however most cars that have primarily nearly laminated glass also have at least one window made of tempered glass according to Triple A. Each of a car's windows should have a sticker in the bottom corner that indicates the glass type. If you can't find it you can contact your vehicles manufacturer and ask furthermore just because the study shows the car escaped tools aren't always effective. It doesn't mean you shouldn't have one in your car. On the contrary we spoke via email with Gregg Brennan triple as director of Automotive Engineering and industry relation listen. He said AAA recommends a spring loaded style tool as we found that some of the hammer tools tested broke when impacting glass keep in mind that any tool you select will only effective for breaking tempered glass. These tools are also especially useful in case your seatbelt released doesn't work some car scape tools incorporate blades let you quickly and safely slice your seatbelt rather than fumbling with the buckle that might not open spring loaded style tools contain contain an inner mechanism that consists of a sharp spike that could be deployed within the force to break attempt glass window. Thanks to a cold spring after you by such a tool. Oh you should test it on the surface of a note pad or piece of softwood. You'll hear a click and when you remove the device from the surface. You'll see an invented whole meaning that the device works unwind demonstrations can also help you familiarize yourself with how to use the tool just in case now for the scary part. If you get into an accident where you must escape your car especially if it's sinking in water. What do you do make sure you know what type of glass your car's driver side window has. If it's laminated know that you'll will need to escape through a different window if won't roll down if your car has all laminated glass. It's critical to get a window roll down as quickly as possible the experts we talked to all recommended the shore method as an easy way to remember what to do in the event of such an emergency. That's sure s stay calm. You unbuckle your seatbelt or cut. If it's jammed are roll down or break the windows and e exit the vehicle quickly and help children out. I don't call nine one one. Until after you've escaped you can have a matter of seconds until water rises to the bottom of the passenger windows so time is of the essence. It's scary to think that you might need to prepare for an incident that traps you in your car but experts agree that it's better to acknowledge the possibility if you have a tool within easy reach and you have some idea of what to do you'll save crucial. Seconds could make the difference between escaping from your carp or not.

Can we please stop talking about Clemson activates hormone the air and we use like every single day we're talking about Clemson Valvo comes at Zakho? Let me let me explain something though. The reason why we talk about Clemson is that they have done something that I don't think anyone really thought possible in that was not only compete with Alabama knowingly beat Alabama. But, but maybe take over to a small degree the reign of college football that Alabama has held for so long and I realized you live in South Carolina. So I can guess your, your fan loyalty, probably the worst for game cock fans. But they are the, the sensation of college football right now. So how can you nor them? Loyd him. It doesn't listen. It doesn't matter where you are. If you're being objective intruder yourself, you have to admit Clemson has taken over. listen. It doesn't matter where you are. If you're being objective intruder yourself, you have to admit Clemson has taken over. I mean they've beaten you guys what five straight times. Yeah. After we beat in five straight times okay? I mean, the last thing years, explained to me you. I mean, that's what's so disappointing. I think is that there was such momentum and it all it all it all went away. So my question you wha-wha-what is going to get it back. Well, if you're talking about momentum I think we'll much town. I mean he gets a lot of flat happened at Florida. Yeah, but right now, we'll must-have has the South Carolina program going into right? The rich and his cO ask you again. Zac, hold on a second. Let's be real here. Okay. Big buildup. You tell me we go. Why is it was some good days for gays? Give me a reason to get give me reason to believe in South Carolina this year while this year number one, the defensive line, more than any time since clowney was there. Okay. This year, Jay bit lead you got. You got clown. You. Gilmore anywhere. Stefan, we JC horn these pretty good. Okay. And the son of NFL player. That's great. There. There's just so far Gilmore. Now, the questions are at running back because the running game has been a Trojan Marcus Lattimore anywhere. No. But we don't really need market. So I know of course not. I mean peers into building, though. Oh, I know I know Marcus what, what, what's what was heard Zach? I've heard a lot of butts from you. But I haven't really heard any answers answers about what about why I should believe in South Carolina because it is a veteran team. Zach Naomi flow with that would have wrong answer answer me grow with much. And so this cockatoo. Have you seen the schedule? Yeah. Seeing schedule. It sounds like a lot opportunity. Yeah. It's also sounds like it looks like a lot of losses to me. And in, in the middle of October, you will be talking about South Carolina, and I will call back you're gonna beat Alabama. You're going to be Georgia beat Florida. You gotta be Clemson. All. About what had ten okay the last time they came all what happened. Yeah. Okay. I have a bit of consumer advice for you today when a product messes up call or write the company. Really, it sounds simple and like a duh, but many people just don't do it as in my friend who was just asked to pay two hundred dollars to best buy to replace a Samsung galaxy note phone that she had bought four months earlier that now doesn't work. I encourage her to please eliminate the middleman and go straight to the source, Samsung and we'll LA. She is now two hundred dollars richer in is about to get a replacement phone. I'm Jefferson Graham with USA and you are listening to talking tech. So my friend bought the brick phone at best buy which has in store wireless reps as well. So all her dealings with best buy and Verizon, some manufacturers can be tough to deal with, but I must say Samsung was. Jeez, I know because I made the call for her in handed her the phone, five minutes in when a Samsung rep answered the phone, the rep told her to take it to an authorized service center, which in this case was you break. I fix the national chain which happens to have thirty seven outlets in California and nearly a hundred and Florida. Now, the you break fix rep confirmed that the phone was indeed toast said he ship it back the Samsung and get her a new replacement success. Rival apple is good and terrible when it comes to consumer service. Yes, they have the genius bar in the store, but you have to make an appointment and sometimes that can take days. So my pro tip go to the help section of the apple website in initiate contact. There are tabs to get in touch with the phone call and unlike some companies which could put you on endless hold, you know, like the airlines or cable firms, apple, let's you click. A button to get a return call, which could have a wait time a less than two minutes. Microsoft on the other hand, could not be worse when it comes to fixing its hardware issues for the surface line, my son switched from Maqta windows two years ago for the surface, but now it too has stopped working. Microsoft's helped section does not give the option to call or Email with anyone. And it does say flatly that out of warranty repairs started only six hundred dollars for a computer that costs nine hundred dollars. Yes. And who knows what best buy where he bought, it might charge. So if you're keeping score Samsung and apple, good, Microsoft, very bad and best buy. If they quote you a repair ticket on an item that still under warranty. Remember you heard it here. I get a second opinion by contacting the manufacturer police. I'm Jefferson Graham with USA day. What are your thoughts about customer service in many. Thatcher warranties and all that jazz. Let's talk about it on Twitter wearing after Graham. You listening to talking tech piece extract show on apple and Google podcast. Please favored the show on Stitcher, which helps fund the show.
