"Can get. The nuggets probably probably not just the three of those three of those okay. I guess the rockets yes against the nuggets. Yes yes against the Lakers and clippers. It just depends right like I. I don't know like I I need to see what those teams look like and what their health situations are like. We don't know what's going to happen but if we're talking about it's all everyone is one hundred percent healthy. I think that it's more of a tossup than you're giving it credit for even against the clippers the Lakers if they're all all right I I will bet on the field. You will bet on Willie. Collie Stein boils down to what was done to Dangelo Russell stays on this team. Do you think it was. I went to playoffs now. Do you think de Ngelo Russell is on this team in the playoffs. That's an interesting factor right there. Yes I think this year he's going to be on the team and don't be don't be knocking Willie Cauley Stein. I actually actually think he's a better fit for this particular team. The demarcus cousins was because he's going to rebound the ball. He's going to block shots. He's going to rule to the RIM and finish that way like I think that I'd center they may be better off for what they WANNA do with a combination of Willie Cauley Stein and Kevon looney. I I think that's fair I think I think that it's fair to say I mean Amelia Stein is not you know Andrew Bogut. He's an upgrade from there moving on well. David Griffin had a lot to say in the sports illustrated profile of course we all focus on on the part that has to do with Lebron James but They wouldn't be that much of a change for the Pelicans who if you remember they played a very fast pace basketball before Griffin and Zion Lonzo even got to town. What do you think about this the proclamation about their piece? Oh I love it and I think he's right as you pointed out when it was Rondo running the show is not necessarily a guy who is considered a pace this type of point guard with Anthony Davis and demarcus cousins and they had Nicole Amirah Tich in those guys they were. I believe either first or second in pace that year and if you look at the Young Lakers they've always been in that top ten as far as paces concern since they've been in the league and even last season I want to say they finished fourth breath in pace and and that's without Lonzo playing the whole year and Ingram obviously missing time so they absolutely can be that team that can run up and down the floor. They've got a ton of young legs. It's really outside of J._J.. Redick most guys are in their prime <hes> so yeah. I think it's absolutely possible again the they were fast already but as you mentioned you add these players and you add this philosophy. I actually love this for them and I love this for Gentry. They don't have championship expectations. They don't even have playoff expectation. You've I've got this young group. Why not get a little gimmicky with the style of play like when they when you watch them in the playoffs they would get the ball out of the basket and just sprint up the court like it? It was a fast break and I think if they do that they can beat some teams. Some older teams some more experienced team some teams that might be enjoying the French quarter of the night before they play the Pelicans Gins like I think this could translate into actual winds for them. I'm not trying to say they're gonNA make the playoffs or content or anything like that but I think this is a really good philosophy for them. That could translate into wins. What do you think Yeah No? I I agree with you. Wholeheartedly Alvin gentry again we pointed out what he did just a couple of years ago but let's not forget where he comes from the Mike did Tony Phoenix system at that time time was considered an incredible pace for what they were doing and revolutionizing the game in that particular at that particular juncture of the League so yeah I think that this fits exactly actly with what they WanNa do and they have the roster be able to pull that up? I'm with you. Will they contend. Maybe for like an eight seed..

"Most photo is a result of injuries to other teams what happened seventy three wins while AMAC crazy to think steph can return to m._v._p.. Form and the dubs can still contend. I've heard this a few times and people are acting like nobody is considering this well. I just want to point out there odds to win the title or twelve to one which are pretty good. They're over under for wins issues forty nine which is higher than I thought it is going to be an Steph as the second best m._v._p.. ADDS five to one so I think this is on people's radar. I'm looking at their team. Actually Kinda liked their team if curry unleashed this is probably his last chance chance to have like a real monster m._v._p.. Season I would think maybe he can do well. Maybe he's got two year window here. He got draymond in a contract year who finally realized <hes> last season that Oh if I lose twenty five pounds of new play basketball better congratulations adulation stem you've Diangelo Russel is only twenty three playing on a really smart team that knows how to use guards off ball off screens and had to take advantage of people who just thrive on the perimeter. I think he's going to be really good for them. I and if he's not they can football but I am in the camp that he's going to be good for them. They have Kevon looney and Willie Collie Stein like both of those guys. I'm interested to see Cauley Stein. I think one or two as complete disaster or way better than an anyone thinks I'm in the way better than anyone thinks camp but I like those two guys together. I think it'd be pretty good defensively. Klay doesn't come back until April but they have Alec Burks Affonso mckinney who can <hes> at least give them some swing staff there. They still seem like there guys short but I feel like they're kind of a stealth favorite to land somebody if they need somebody I just Kinda like the team I would compare it to the ninety four bowls when they lost them Jay and everyone just wrote them off and I'm not saying you know they. They have a chance to be as successful as the Bulls. I think when fifty five games pippen was an M._v._p.. Candidate but that one of the reasons they were so a successful is the infrastructure of coaching training staff just having been there before and not being afraid big game experience all that stuff can really matter sometimes and with few look at what would happen the ninety four bowls it was really the experience in the coach in the infrastructure and them kind of realizing how to revolve around a different grade player. I think the warriors I would not count them out. Forty nine wins seems a little high only because because of curry got hurt. I think this would have a lot of trouble offensively but I'm with you. I I don't think the dynasty is over by any means that if they can hold the fort being that five six seven seed range for when clay comes back and if he can come back people come back from that injury now and they're ten months are they seem fine or ninety percent what they were so if that can happen great Josh from Richfield wants to know five years from now who's the best point guard in the N._B._A...

"They let too many points go I got J._J.. Rhetoric Bolger gone. I got dr a couple years ago. He's Gone Jimmy Butler points. He's gone now. I got Ben Simmons who doesn't shoot. They drafted a kid out of the University of Washington. You can't score 'em beats. It's fantastic cross your fingers on his health and I like Al Horford they built a team to beat Milwaukee and Janas. They're huge. They're tall. They're physical. I don't think they have enough shooters. I have met six number five now. I get into teams that that I think can compete for a championship. I think Utah's pretty good. I thought Utah was good last year and I go to Utah a lot and I talked to Quin Steiner about this. They needed to things they needed. An offensive minded point guard they got Mike Conley. Maybe the most underrated guy in the N._B._A.. And they needed shooters shooters and they got a Guy Bogdonovich and Conley they also derrick favors was getting expensive and they went and got Ed Davis who sort of a ninety percent of it cheaper version. I love their chemistry. I like their bench. I like their coach. I loved their back court. Donovan Mitchell gets better. They got enough shooters now. I think you ties a championship team again. They need a break. They need Lakers to be a little dysfunctional aid needs somebody for the clippers the not quite play as well as you think number four. This is where I think join I <hes> this is where the Lakers are interesting a great movie poster. I don't know if they're a good movie. Yes they have Lebron and yes. They have a deep so they're going to be a really good championship level capable team but there's a lot of guys that can't create a couple of guys that can't shoot two or three guys that are great defenders two or three that can't defend a several guys that are too old. I think Rondo shot boogie cousins you cross your fingers. Casey peas never been dependable. Quin cooks too small but I kind of like him. Danny Green's good but not if you're paying them twenty seven minute tonight. I'd like him at Nineteen <hes> good they got Lebron A._D.. New Coach Bruce the point guard as a lot of interesting there. I don't see a lot of great number three warriors listen I got to the finals. They were thirty eight and five last couple of years without Kevin Durant. Yes Willie Cauley Stein. They got their big. They got looney and Willie Cauley Stein. They got their bigs. They'll get clay. They already have staffing the Angela. They've got their guards. They're not great at wing. Their bench won't be as good but I'm sorry new arena new energy jeep draymond looney staff clay Liangelo Willie Collie Stein. I'm sorry that to me is a championship team. <hes> and I don't buy into the Angelo Russell's not gonNA work wise everybody think Westbrook's great in Miami but the Angelo doesn't work with this system Deangelis Russels and all star level player may not an all star in the West but he's good and he can make plays and steph curry works with everybody. I like the warriors number two Milwaukee now I don't think they're going to be I don't love losing Malcolm Brogden and Wesley. Matthews is good but never been the same player post A._C._l.. Tear but they're young and getting better so Jaanus is just going to get better Chris Middleton just going to get better <hes> they have now Lopez brothers one of them's a good shooter. They have a very good coach.

"That Jay vaguer has gone with which is Barnes at the floor. Playing with dean, FOX, buddy healed and booked on book. Donovan all guys that are those three are superior offensive players in my opinion to Harrison Barnes. So it makes sense that he's a fourth or fifth option. Unwilling collie Stein news, the fifth starter there. He kind of has his niche. So you don't need to go Nutting when you have vote on him, buddy healed out there. Those guys can put up some heavy usage games deer and FOX he can do that as a passer, whereas score just depends on what opportunities present themselves. And so they need a little bit less from Barnes. Another silver lining of a Bagley being unavailable for a short period. Time. Thankfully, it's shorter than what it was like it might have been when he got hurt is that it's finally allowed no on leads to get back in the rotation a little bit. He had three DNP's in their previous five games. But then he's he has played twenty three minutes over the last couple will see what kind of role. He hasn't one of the theories with Harrison Barnes could be. Maybe you stagger him. You know, I I've used the phrase of a staggered plus meeting that you still play a guy a lot with the starters. But that you make sure he's on the floor. When the starters are off with somebody like the Aaron FOX, though, I mean yogis creating decent jobs to and maybe you can give Barnes a little bit more space to eat there. That would be a possibility and something I know you. To to bring up as I don't know. You know, you've talked about how the today on it can be spotty, but Willie collie Stein's defensive metrics are not looking particularly strong this year. One more thing on Barnes where he really thrive. These last couple of years was super slow down small small pick and roll get the mismatch go to work defined reads in riccar Lau system, that's the exact opposite of what the kings do. So if you did wanna play him on the second unit, you're still sacrificing that will. But and yet does mean you you could run at the start of the possession. If it doesn't work out. Maybe you try to get him involved a little bit more Alec Burks zero idea why they traded for him and traded away Amman shepherd to get him. They got Houston's twenty twenty second for making that swap is still just don't get what the point of that was shepherd actually was contributing for them. Maybe they knew the barn straight was coming. And they felt it was just too many guys or something. But a or baby body develops just has a little bit of a fetish for two guards. Great. We saw the Zach LeVine offer sheet, for example, I still vacillate on whether that's gonna work out or not. I mean, he'll have crew canes a begins with the bulls. But Burks nine point three percent usage with the kings, twelve minutes a game. Just another guy who I mean, they have enough guys who are greeting point that healed FOX Donna vitrine those guys who should have the ball in their hands in. So if out Burkes is going to be trying to create it all there's really no point in having on your team. He he filled a niche last year for a Utah team that had lost all of their creators. But overall has not been able to provide efficient play there where do you wanna go next? Well before we move on. I wanted clarify collie Stein. His block rate is low and he's not deterring a ton of shots at the rim. But the another defensive stuff is rebounding has been fine. So the numbers thin the kind of on off stuff is fine. I just wanted to know that before we move on. Let's go to Portland might as well do them. Blazers are thirty nine in twenty four after their win in Charlotte. What from being an easy win to being a tougher win. And then they still won a little bit comfortably seven and four since last fifteen and sixty plus four net rating puts them ninth in the NBA fourth enough ends fifteenth in defense they are in that three to six group and five thirty it gives them a ninety percent ninety six percent sheds. They're making the playoffs. I think the place to start is with NS Kanner Kanner is playing nineteen minutes.

"Principle office, south Texas, given there's a lot of trade stuff going down in the NBA right now. Cleveland is sending Nick staus Casse Wade Baldwin to the rockets and a three way deal Cavaliers acquired those two guards in Sunday's trade, the Portland that sent Rodney hood, the blazers are so much more going on. And we're gonna get to all of it. We're going to get to every little bit of it tonight. But right now on with us as FC Dallas head coach Lucci Gonzalez Lucia hasn't gone, a nicer. Luigi did Reggie lie to us. I think Reggie hung up on him. How no well we will. We is Reggie anti-soccer. I don't know, man. Reggie there people that you meet. Hey, you just need to make sure that you get him on the phone. All right. Other people you meet in life. Kevin did call the love soccer and love football. Like me. Like, you and me we've been fans of footballing. Kobe even Ryan. Oh, man. I love it. When everything happens on the pitch. Yeah. Absolutely. Yeah. And everyone. Watch game across the pond. And and we get to see that happen. Got their kits on people like Reggie just totally against the game of soccer. And I've never really understood it. So we'll wait and see what happens. So let's Kevin I'm money. I wanted to hit this real quick is Trump's Rania posted something a few minutes ago that I wanted to get to. But we're talking about Bob stoops you can understand what's going on there. In Sacramento, Cleveland, Houston, the three way deal. It's going on Iman Shumpert to Houston. Alec Birkin second round pick to the kings. And Brandon Knight in a pick to Cleveland Shumpert is interesting because that's one of the first one of the people that we talked about if the Mavs were just to do a strictly salary gain. And then he would jump off after with the expiring contract. So I'm still more interested. If you make a deal with the kings that hopefully you'll make run at the big man Willie collie Stein. But who's to say how that will go down, and then I kings in like a mode where they're trying they're going to go for you will they're really trying to go for this. They think that they think that Harrison Barnes can get them there. As of yesterday, they were half a game out of playoff contention. So yeah, they're going for a man they are going for. And then you saw the news of the wizards sending Otto porter to the bulls for Bobby Portis and Jabari Parker. That's such a weird deal. Because I thought with wall being hurt they were going to try to build around auto porter. And I mean. It depends on what you think about Jabari Parker. He can't play a lick of defense on anybody. Like, you would have as much. Success? Worry about Duke. Yes, or no. Yes, he did. And guess what couldn't play liquid defense there either? But nobody cared because he's putting up twenty points a game. Does anybody care about defense in the NBA anymore? Anyway, I mean, there's a there's some people do I've seen people get hacked about blocks and stuff. All right. But it's always seemed like it's like one fifteen one fourteen every night that just seems like what I'm seeing. So then maybe Parker. Turn out to be a good deal. Is this an odd? It was an odd movement because I thought the wizards we're going to use auto Cottam builder out. All right, Kevin. Let's actually do this the real time right now on with this FC Dallas head coach Luigi Gonzalez Lucia. How's it going tonight, sir? Hey, guys, I'm doing great. Thanks for having me off. Sorry about Reggie hanging up on you think he might be anti-soccer. Yeah. Oh, it's okay. I forgive him. Okay. All right. That's good way. Too quick. I was real quick forgiveness. But that's the way you do things on the pitch. Kevin von. Yeah. You gotta have a short memory. And that's that's one of the things. I wanted to ask you a quick is with the with the potential coaching job opening for the Dallas Cowboys at some point you ever thought about coaching American football. You know, I would say, I respect American football coaches. It's like unbelievable. How many players and stuff they have to manage when I coast in a high school I used to shadow and watch and observe and try to learn from them. It's unbelievable the discipline and the order that's into the American football. So I have a lot of respect for it. But but not for me, I need some smaller numbers to handle it to manage. I'm good where I am. Okay. I would hope so just starting now your first season as the head coach. Although we had a mini debate breakout beforehand head coach or manager. You do you prefer head coach. Yeah. Yes. Because I believe in the action of coaching because I think it's a mixture of managing leading n teaching and teaching. So I believe coaching is kind of what sums all those things together. Yeah. The last time we had you on the show was really evident of your love of the Metroplex and your love of soccer. But what I don't think we really got the opportunity to get into more is can you tell us like how when where was that love of soccer born? So that comes from my my father, I grew up in Latin American home. I I grew up in Miami Florida with teammates from from Columbia in Brazil. Argentina. And I grew up very Latin team you see. My father was always pushing me to try to create them into attack to pursue this game. Get me out of my comfort zone. And so that's that was my outbreak. You know, and then and then I get recruited to SMU. And that time I didn't know what SMU I was that southern Missouri. What school, and you know, I did my research in shell time and recruited me. SMU and I went on a visit. I was about to commit Chapel Hill on a full scholarship and continue my soccer. I was playing you seventeen. No World Cup twenty national team and shells. You know, just look in the eyes and said, I have we we have a plan for you want you to come. Thousands. Program and lead off. And you know, what I and I and I bought in and I felt that and and I and no regrets. No looking and I love that that I'm connected to the city for almost twenty years now, and I'm really honored blessed to be part of the professional level. I think that's one of the things. I really really excites me about you being the head coach for SE. Dallas is the connection that goes so far back with the with the DFW area. And I I do wonder in that that part of it when you were kind of doing your research, not just on the program and everything, but you know, what about the city was kind of that draw. There was like, okay, not not too big of a city, but not too small city at the same time. Yeah. I think it was several things. I think first of all I see music beautiful campus Highland Park is an amazing. You know, part of the city that's number one number two. The soccer program SMU is known historically for for competing. Well, and and playing playing good football proactive football. So I was a part of that. Multiple championships with fell short of the national to your. We had good teams winning conferences. So that drew me. But you know, what the thing that? I most remember the thing that I was always just people to me, you know, Dallas natives are they're kind they're kind. They're they're kind natured, they're they're helpful. They're proactive their organized their structured, but you know, what they're really competitive there really competitive in a good way and healthy sense. I think that's a reflection in our youth programs whether soccer or football or basketball, you can see a lot of young athletes coming out of Dallas. So it's just that whole feeling that you know, I love Miami. My my heart will always be connected to Miami. Does the city I was born and raised in Dallas gave me kind of my next step in terms of structure organization competitive spirit, and and aspirins for my next step is a is a young, man. Now, you guys are in the middle of cash. Camp right now is that right? Yeah. We're in our third week in preseason. All right. So you've got a couple of scrimmages this weekend. And I want to hear more about that. But I'm also curious I heard that maybe there were some issues with some of your international players being able to get here visa issues and everything like that was that just something that comes along with the game. Or was that part of the shutdown? How did you have to of rework your camp run throughs because of that? Yeah. So we we've received a few of our international players some of our new additions or international guys. They they were scheduled to have the men before the beginning of preseason. And unfortunately, a few of them got had delays because of a government shutdown processing in terms of their work and their visas, and so they they got in two of them got a week late. Another one got it in two weeks late, and then we've got young player coming from this. That's not here yet. You're gonna get into all night. So not Kosta Brian. Exactly for song got in last week. Ryan the cost is getting a now. So just you know, it's one of those things where the whole league all the teams in the league or dealing with this. It's not just us, obviously. So that that's that's to me. There's no excuses. We're we're we're in the same boat as the other clubs in the same situation. And we've got to deal with it. And we got to move forward and and integrate them as quickly as we can on and off the field. No, give them plan and program planning and programming all away from us. It's going to get them here as fit an physically mentally ready as possible. So it's certainly an obstacle, but we embrace challenges, and we got to move on and not feel like victims. I feel sorry for our situation. And and just make the best of it. Absolutely. And I know you said that you you send them stuff, and they can put a plan in place, but how big the challenges that for the players then too because whatever you send them it's not going to be exactly the same. Obviously as being there with the team, and I feel like through maybe. No fault of their own. They're already kind of behind the game. Yeah. So so we we obviously think about that on an individual in an individual workout. They're not gonna get the same fitness tests testing and and load in challenge as playing playing and playing eleven versus eleven playing one versus one playing in situations. Three versus two there's nothing like the game. That's going allow you to make decisions that's going allow you to adopt. So we actually encourage some of our guys weren't here yet go and play small sided games in their local club community that can be perceived as a risk because they can't get injured. But it gets to a point where hey the game. These guys are players because they play they grew up playing whether on the street or an. And we actually trusted them to go and go play go play with the local club the club. They grew up in the local academy in their hometown. Whatever city there in just so they can be stimulated rather than just running straight line distance. And you know, coming in, and we don't we want them to be stimulated not just physically but mentally. So that was part of the plan. We got a FC Dallas head coach Lucci Gonzales on with us right now. And when it comes to style of play, and what you plan on implementing is it a kind of a high pressure low pressure thing or do you? Absolutely love kick and run. We want to have the ball in as much as as many situations as possible in the game..

"You look like say was not feeling the hilarious thing that the comparison is Jacoby thinks he's Yokich but half the passes are sailing. Overseas. But he space, but he wants to be okay. It's the spirit is there. Dietrich your way at least like three behind the back passes per game. That's mandatory. And I expect it and I love it Dietrich's game. It's like a cry. It's like if Willie collie Stein was awesome credible lefty kind of slasher passer. I don't even know it's like, David Lee crust Willie collie Stein. But with like, a New York street these six foot roll, man. Defensively knows how to switch has impressed. Koby? Can I we held the court one day USC for like three hours? Maybe you guys should be the nine ten and eleven players on the Sixers. I would trust. We could out the starting lineup. I would trust it. So do you think the Sixers are done done dealing? Yeah. I think we could see them move like a second round or for a guard. I mean, the guys that I was looking at I like the non sexy dude who are on. I the bench somewhere like you'll give like Yogi Ferrell, right? That's like fixer snuck around or go get Yogi Ferrell, you know, go get on Shaquille Harrison from Chicago to get someone who can offend a little at the one. If the Knicks are trying to move like, you know, Frankie smokes. Sure, just get a point of attack defender other than TJ because because problem within a crucial moment of this season when everything is on the line. The Sixers have to choose between putting a Riddick and TJ on the floor and one of those guys complete defense one of those guys can play offense. They need someone to kind of split the difference or could be the wet guide double switch. Yeah. The offense defense which Doc Rivers. It took a fifty they could actually just try and pull one of the moors twins acts where they just put saying send TJ out there and Radic's jersey Jack down, I know, I like the wages been playing this year, though. And I do think like the touches thing is a real issue. Yeah. Embiid me twenty shots again. That's his value. His value is is and taking a lot of threes and drawing the defense to him. And if he's not going to be doing that, then it absolutely diminishes value. Which is like Covington is great to have them because Covington to gives you spacing and defense without actually having to take those shots. Covington was the MVP of the playoffs here for Boston by new year. Bring that up that like, I say. Yeah. Loves every time. He was feeling say. Yeah. You shoot Robert Covington. Please take one. All right Dietrich, you sound like you're relatively calm. You're one of my favorite Twitter followers. I love when you get bad at people for for Sixers perceptions. My favorite Dietrich bid is just like the Nerlens Noel per thirty six numbers and comparing them to I through compare. Okay. Syria wants to make their run. But Stephen Adams on the Venturi belongs starting orlands ride that Nerlens pie all the way. Only plans games were thirty six. We always joke about waiters island, but like Netherlands island, just Dietrich. He's on neural estuary. It was an eight by ten minutes. Like, it's it's fucking Gloria. "Man for the Dallas Mavericks. You can hear skin weighed on those broadcasts as well. They do a phenomenal job. They deserve. All the Emmys. And that's Harrison Barnes doing work. This is the guy that you brought in you pay the max money, and you have him on your team now. And you're like, all right. Is this guy we can build the team around not really? But he's really good player and one one suggestion Kevin the skin had the other day. Was you have Barnes next year to write probably if he ops in which I'm sure he would is there. He was suggesting a possibility of getting Katie to sign and trade and swap Barnes back to them because they're like man, we can't pay K D what he wants the Mavericks within essentially do with that. They would like, hey will gladly take this on and Katie would get the opportunity to play with the unicorn and baby unicorn, and so I don't know, man. I I love that idea. But I don't know that it's going to happen. I feel like the Mavericks are going to try and make a move before this deadline here on Thursday. And I mean, we've set the bar impossibly high. Right. Chris stops. So anything that happens next ever is going to be like? Okay. Yeah. Ooh. Yeah. And it's it's really nice to have Chris tops on this team. And you know, what's kind of crazy to to not be going through what the Lakers are going through right now they have an entire roster. That is sitting there looking at each other in the locker room, they the Pacers fans. Did you hear what the Pacers fans just did to them tonight? They started chanting when I think Brandon Ingram was on the line. They started chanting. Lebron is gonna trade you. So can you imagine going back into that locker room and looking at LeBron just sit there, and he's like probably, hey, look, you guys kind of understood what I was about to do whenever I walked into this building, y'all got go. And so he's like I got I had I'm on a mission right now. And I gotta go defeat some people so guy just can't imagine being in that situation here yards mas- fans. And you're like this team is slowly putting together something that the Luca trade didn't happen until like fifteen minutes before the draft bright. Remember how that all? I had nowhere. Bam reports were happening and that thing was going down. And in the Chris tops thing within within fifteen minutes of seeing the first note about it. The Mavericks had a deal done. It's ridiculous. How how they do their business? The way that they do their business, and I love it. So we've talked a lot about the the team to keep your eye out on is probably the kings and so- fish expanded on this more today is the idea of you try to move Barnes, and maybe Powell so the deal with those two are they both have player options for next year. Powles ten point two million and considering that he doesn't start in is still sitting at eight and a half points a game and four rebounds a game. I would assume he would opt in then for Harrison Barnes who you know. He has not had a very good season by his. Sanders. He's only shooting forty percent in his is for twenty five million people seem to think that he would opt in as well. And so if you consider those plus the Courtney Lee, and Tim Hardaway junior contracts that you picked up you got no money for anything outside Chris tops. But if you made a deal with the kings because it looks like the kings are gonna go for it. What what what would be their interest in Barnes? I'm just trying to figure out like why why is it is it just money? I think so because like Barnes is an interesting. He's an interesting commodity because of the one hand he's a solid player. And you're not stuck with him for very long because worst case scenario he ops in and you've got him for one more year and what the kings will try to do by the way kings, half a game out of a playoff spot with the kings would probably try to do is send you Zach Randolph. Iman Shumpert both of whom are on expiring contracts. So what you do is you was ship out thirty five million dollars of money that would probably be on your books next year. You would bring back a equivalent enough version of that. And then it would be off the books, which then means if you wanted to go after each with the with magic or some of those other big pie in the sky. People that we've discussed I like Skype Ron. I think we'll Braun is the only player on that team that they said they wouldn't get rid of. But everybody else is fair. I think Steph way Thompson locked up in our Klay Thompson, maybe. But here's what I'll tell you. If you're not enamored with the name. He's still got a little bit more time there of vucevic, maybe. So he seven foot tall he fits our eurocentric mentality that currently seems to encircle this team. Absolutely. But more importantly than any of that he's twenty eight in this season thus far. He's averaging twenty one points a game four assists a game and twelve rebounds a game. Wow. Plus he can shoot the three shooting thirty eight percent from behind the arc. But okay. So that's another seven footer that can shoot the three. To be the way, we're building. This do do we care about is. I guess we had the guy though, he's a rebounder. That's the big thing. We already have the guy that can create. We have the guy that can all the things. And so I guess if you have that guy you're not worried about any of the other stuff except for how to stretch the floor out. So he can space it, you know, so he can run. So because one of the things that you saw with monta Ellis was playing with dirt gave him an extra step and a half of space to work within because you couldn't you couldn't move on him that way. So whenever he decided to explode. Bam. There was because you had to you had to look for Dirk. And so I guess with Chris tops. If we ever see him in that in which we could have that kind of a spread out floor where the basket probably is has a lot of room space a lot of room to work with for Luca to do his thing. So then really you just have to invest it. I guess Br brunson's a good point guard. For the defensive side of things. He's still got some growth in front of him in Mark Cuban acknowledged that. But then on the other side, though, you just need a a deadly three pointer. Br. The Cuban said the other day, he said the one thing that he thinks this team is missing is a sharp is now the defensive player, though, the one defin- Iman Shumpert seen. He's a good defensive player isn't he he I don't think you would view him as long term. You would only view him as the stock contract money off. I will say h has gotten better defensively he's talking about like a perimeter defender still. Okay. Not a big, man. Yeah. I think he was saying look we got acknowledged that our perimeter defense is in great the way, the NBA is going. We have to find a way to lock down that perimeter defense at least have guy that can be the the x factor mismatch whenever you have a mismatch. And the keeps guy keeps getting open for threes. You find a guy that will stop him. And I think that's one of the things that he says that they don't have quite have right now. So if we're building the perfect team, I love the seven footers that can shoot all the threes. But what else can we do defensively? And who's going to be able to and willing to come in here and say, okay, I'm gonna I'm gonna say, okay. Deluca and deal with whatever he wants. It's not gonna be a star. It'll be a it'll be a role player. Would you be more interested in somebody like boost vich who just got named his first all star team or Willie collie Stein who is three years younger? He they're they're kind of built pretty similarly. He's three years younger. Also plays center. He's improved on the boards this year. I like him. Yeah. I fell in love with Willie collie Stein. A long time ago, we were Kentucky. Yeah. When we were. I think you've forced me to watch. I hate Christian Leitner and during that run I saw I saw a special on Willie collie Stein. And I was like this guy right here has something. So yeah, I like him a lot. And I'm really hopeful that you can swing a big, man. Like that to go along with what you haven't Chris Dobson who is a very unique player. You know, what what you have with him? It's so unique. And I know everybody's like, oh, yeah. This isn't that? Now, man what he can do just with his mid range game will shock you. Let alone the fact that he can step out and shoot threes. But his mid range game is almost unstoppable. And if you can do that on so many levels of the court where you could do those things you can really establish yourself as a dominant offense. The and the idea I want to go back in case anyone didn't fall where we were going here. The idea of shipping off Barnes and Powell would be to create the max roster space to bring in number three for what you think could be. A potential super team with Luca in Kristaps being one and two on your superstar counter. So I mean, and it would again, I'm not saying that it like another reason we keep bringing up blue switches word is that the Mavericks, we're gonna target him. So you've got a seven foot tall guy. Who's efficiency rating is off the charts. This season averages twenty one points a game twelve rebounds a game, but also four assists per game. And he's a decent three point shooter to go with Kristoff and Luca who could probably be considered top fifteen talent wise in the league. And if you were able to pick him up as well, you stay really young you're able to flex and cap might year before you thought, you would once you made the Kristaps trade, you have three all star level players, and you've yourself as a very legitimate playoff contender even quicker than I would have guessed is a Bradley Beal type player still an opportunity so his. Is money too. Big the thing the money's not too big. Because again, if you make the move with Barnes, and pal and Powell you can match up to any player in the league because you have to be within fifteen percent of their contract or whatever. So you can match up with any player in the league the issue that you're going to run into there is the news that came out today about John wall. That was so weird is he already had an injury. But then I guess he said he fell and hurt himself at home and ruptured his achilles. Now. He's gonna be out twelve months when his he'll issue is going to keep him out six months now, he's at twelve months, and like, Bradley Beal, I guess would theoretically be your franchise player. Do you wanna just tear it down? Washington says they are not gonna just tear it down. They're going to roll with Bill. They're going to roll with porter, and they're going to kind of stick that thing out whether or not it actually happens. I don't know. But if you picked up, Bradley Beal all the exact same. Do things apply as they would with rich because you've got another all star level player. You've got another twenty-something player, and you have a huge score. He would be your best score instantly. And I know Luca is awesome. But Radley Bill would be your top score. I could you imagine pairing those would it work. Yes. Operates off the ball. Okay. So he would be your best score. And then Luca would be able to put it in his thirty two. And then so now you have two guys that are doing basically, Steph clay stuff hall like John wall. It just doesn't work because John wall's not that type of player. He's not that. I don't think he's the Luca type player anymore. Yeah..

"So you know is as drawl now available. Glad I put my big holiday profile up last week. I know good call. So I was talking to some teams already this morning Zak about whether this would freeze the trade market. I my belief is not necessarily because I really think there's only three teams who can really in Boston cancer. I really think it's a two and a half T market, depending on what Philly does see I think Miami. I think Miami. I don't I don't know if they're on whatever formalistic Ziff's, but I know that that's that's an organization that has the cachet with star players. And I think including a D, And they're just so starved for a star that I think that's another. What's the trade? Well, you just throw everything you just throw it like all the stuff you were afraid to throw in for Jimmy Butler you throw in and then you run into the bulls problem that I talked about before which is that Anthony Davis arrives. And it's like, okay. So it's me and Tyler Johnson and Kelly Linic that's rolling with like, Josh Richardson's, gone and Justice ones those gone, and bam maybe even gone first-round pick. So that's the problem. But they'll. Make a call. I think I think Miami I think you could say this about every available star in the market Miami, comma, if they were a different situation comma would be on all these people. I think they would be bitter for Durant. I think they would be a bitter for a y but they're not they're they're cap is loaded and their team has low on talent. Can I give you another one other one? Ready? I can't wait. This is in other one that I don't think is crazy buddy healed Marvin Bagley salary filler an unprotected first round pick. Maybe that's it. Because healed and Bagley is a lot. So you go to Anthony and say, we got FOX FOX's agai FOX's guy. Yeah. Buddy, healed is really good. But he's not a guy. He's very very good player Bagley. We don't need because we have you will probably monetize Willie collie Stein and get a future asset for him. He's available by the way. You know, we got some other. We still got Harry Giles. We still got a couple of other things. Like, I again, I don't think it's craziest is to say about the kings. I actually don't think they're going to fast forward what they have going on to this degree. But I if I were running the kings. I might that's on my whiteboard, this should three or four team list. But Brian to your three or four team list as it stands right now nine days, whatever the hell. The number is for the trade deadline. I'm not sure the list is is relevant because you're still putting the Nixon there and the Knicks don't have the goods to do it right now. But they're the Knicks. No, they're not. How they're. There. They have no assets to trade right now. I have thinking Davis is in fact, I know that as of right now. Anthony Davis isn't demanding to be traded by the deadline. I think if he has to wait till the summer, I think he'll be okay with I think, by the way, I'm glad you said that because I think so too. I as much as this looks like a Lakers power play. And I kind of think it is a Laker seem power play. It's I don't think it's all or nothing for Anthony Davis, and the Celtics are very confident that it's not all or nothing Anthony Davis. And I think he's okay. Playing out the season a waiting till the summer. I really do. I think this is a shake the trees and see what happens and will frame it as this is best for the pelicans because they get to shake many trees as they want. And that's good. I don't think like if you put a gun to my head right now, the metaphorical onto my head the Nerf ball gun and said does he get traded by the deadline? I'm going, no, Brian. What are you going? No in less. He takes the next step which sure but right now at employee PM eastern, you're going no Howard. No. I can't I can't see the pelicans doing the deal. It does not make functional sense to do the deal now. No, you wanna have the best possible. Spread of offers available to you, and that doesn't exist right now and won't exist until a the lottery is completed and be the Celtics have the ability.

"We talked about this on the the low post podcast last week. I think with with regard to the jazz for some reason mum, but good example, though, I totally agree. And I said last week like I actually think one of these two not one of these two teams that we just mentioned I think eighteen that would otherwise have a lot of cap space is going to make this kind of trade where they identify a player on two or three two or three years left on his deal that his team for whatever reason doesn't want. But it's still pretty good and take a shot at saying that guy fits that guy fits in our system. Like like, I mean, I I guess the Jay Crowder deal for Utah was kind of like that. But like, I even on a bigger scale. I could see a team doing that just saying look, we're not going to get it. We want free agency. Let's just take a shot on. So you think Drummond is somebody like that to I wouldn't want Drummond. I'm out on you don't think he's a take a shot at guy. I wouldn't take a shot. Oh, I wouldn't either. I'm out on all expensive centers who can't shoot free throws. And you kind of have to accommodate your team to make whatever work with them. Did you see pistons kings Ziada? Yeah. I did actually. So so can I I'm I got a little fired up about that game. That was the game where they let Blake stay in L A because it was between the Lakers and the clippers games for Detroit think. So so if you're if you're underage Roman Blake Griffin's out for whatever reason he's out. He's not even with team is out. You're now the max players star of the Detroit Pistons who are a crappy borderline playoff team who are dying to make the playoffs dying. They would they would release Jack Ken cooks balloons from the ceiling in Detroit of the Lakers Lakers reference. If they had the eighth they got the eighth seed. You're at Sacramento, which is a winnable game. You're not the favorite in that game. That's a winnable road game. If you are if you are a max player in the NBA, even if you can't post up you can't shoot jump shots. If you're Andre Drummond, max player you come out in that game. You're like I'm getting twenty rebounds. I'm getting twenty rebounds. And nobody is getting to the rim in this game. I'm going to run the floor like all hell, and I'm going to lease like go for eighteen and twenty five and do everything I can to win this game by myself are like lift by team up. He completely no showed the game. Totally no showed. I think he had like eleven and eight got run off the floor by Willie collie Stein. Got run off the floor by Harry jog runoff before by their whole team. And if you watch that that was like that was the game where Canard went off on the bench like Canard was mouthing off to the coaches on the bench, Luke Canard that was like an like one of the lowest moments for a pretty low franchise. And it was like that is the distillation of why I do not one hundred drumming on my team. This is for for the contract. He's making now you he no showed a game where like a real max. Player comes out. And it's like I'm getting twenty and twenty I got very angry about that game. Jesus that was a real rant. I hope. I Joe German heard it do you not agree now? It's look. I think sometimes if you're an expensive player, it's your responsibility to show up on a night when your team needs you get any twenty rebounds. Like, you're not gonna he's not going to become a chemo LaJoie and get thirty and start making jump hooks fadeaways. But do what you do go out and get me, twenty rebounds. And do not let Willie Cauley Stein run you off the floor. I this is my issue with kyri. Actually, let's take a break because I have a whole Kyrie rent in me. Let's take a break. Sacramento, Darren FOX, he's really come on in his second year out of Kentucky buddies field. I came over in the DeMarcus cousins trade for Iman Shumpert, the former Cav Willie collie Stein in the middle. He's been he's up and down versus Steph curry Klay Thompson. Kevin durant? Draymond green. Come on looney. No. Dala tonight for the where so he'll be out as well. So we get into that conversation. In fact, will do it right now. It is your favorite time of the show the expanded the x factor the game sponsored by xfinity delivering the speed and streaming experience on the go with the stream app now in the past the kings would have been on the Imola train. Yes. But that's pretty much hundred out seed in the west or in a bunch of points. In fact, from a point standpoint. Whereas one fifteen point six third in the league, Sacramento. One fifteen point three which is fifth in three point percentage. That's one of the things that have come around Sacramento's thirty nine point four percent is I in the league the words over the last week of kinda struggled. So they fall into third which is thirty nine percent. So to the top three three point shooting teams. The differences the words in the middle of the pack in points given up at about one ten that's fifteenth sack is twenty-seven. They haven't been as consistent on the defensive end. And that's been the problem for the king. So what would be our X factor? Well, I mean, obviously, we were doing the whole pre-game. So I the end about what could be the x factor. And. Jason Caffey verse. Scot pollard. I think that's going to be a huge huge deal for for both these teams both rugged guys. A thank you. Let me go. I don't usually include Korean to my ex factor. But curry FOX that to be a fun. Yeah. Jevon FOX's really fast. He's real quick. Much, man. He's probably fastest base base. He's very different than Steph Steph super fast, he that's super-quick. He uses kind of tactical quickness because he's such a good shooter that he can still run like you try to run them off that line. He could beat you write a laugh at he's got great handles handles incredible. Fox's fast FOX's quick. And FOX's guy that can penetrate and kick out to those three points here. Did you talked about this team? They can shoot three pointers whether it be by believes that healed. I mean guys can get out there and shoot some threes. So to me keeping FOX out of the paint. Don't let him penetrate because he penetrates breaks defense down got to collapse. He kicks out for three. But but but he's still a young kid. How's he going to defend curry does? Obviously, everyone knows Korea's a great shooter. But do you play them on the proper hand? Do you plan on the right side? Do you guys? Have it figured out? Like what you're going to do with him. And make sure you don't let him get three point shots. 'cause teams would all the time. Like, oh, we got this don't worry about it. We're good. We're good. We're good. Then Steph shooting a wide open three. It's like it's an opposing coach. Like are. You kidding me? How do we let that guy get wide open for three? And the one thing step does as good as anybody ever in the game when he passes off he penetrates he passes and then he runs out to the three point line. And the guys lose him. They lose him all the time. They follow the ball whose shooting who's driving who's doing. Hey, is it my guy Steph curry out of three point line? Yeah. He's wide open. You might want to get your ass out there. Go get him. So can FOX be in concert with the rest of the team and the game plan and not let Steph get wide open three. So that's a matchup. I'm really looking forward to is FOX and Currie and that'll be my ex factor. Absolutely. In fact, the back court in general healed and a FOX versus Klay out and encourage should be good. And by the way, FOX one of the ways that he's improved so much from his rookie year is like said, he's he's very quick. But he shot about thirty percent from three his rookie year reaching about forty one percents from three. So he's he's improved his game and absolutely member. And everybody was talking about that one Lonzo came out FOX came out. Fox outplayed ball when he was with Kentucky gets UCLA. And then of course, the Lakers took ball right now, FOX are Baldwin's second FOX v. Fox's a or looks like a far better player than than Lonzo. At this point in their career, given come more years. Yeah. Absolutely. Are there you go kings vs warriors drew going to jump in next. It'll take it through is a in there as well. Oh, we do. Well. Yeah. We got Fiske's fits keys and then during Franco jump in fit. Sorry, bro. Bits bits. It's kids. I wonder if. But yeah. Only here on these sorts leader everybody Mr..

"It's actually a second fastest behind New Orleans so far and the preseason, and remember the hawks have played three NBA teams. They haven't played Shanghai a shark. So the Sydney breakers or things like that. So they are playing really, really, really fast. And I think that's going to sue John Collins game really well. The last talk about various things trae young, Greg, and I just talked about the rookies the rookies we'll do what they do and we shall see, you know, for me, my position on trae young right now is he looks like he's going to be fine. I don't know how great. I don't know how good he's going to be. He's going to be great. I think he has sort of. Of the hunger to potentially if he if he can put his game together to be a special player, but sometimes special players aren't necessarily superstars, but are maybe really elite like one of the three best players in skill x. or skill watt. Right? And sometimes more along the lines of that, like. Resign Rhonda's like win the hall of fame, but he was a critical player that was had very specific talent on championship teams. And so if he doesn't become a perennial, all star scored twenty five twenty points a game and become a forty percents unit. From the three point line, everybody's talking about traverse linked drafted him to be the Steph curry and Kevin hurt her to be the. The clay cetera, et cetera, Amari Spelman to be right on Whether that. that's actually something that Schlink thing. So I have no freaking clue, but I'll just go ahead and tell you that if you asked me to put money on one side of the other, is he going to be as good stuff career, not putting all that money on the no. Steph curry is one of the is off at the players of all time already. Let's pump the brakes on that, but a guy wants talking about this for minute is Alex Len. He's really interesting to me drafted. You know the top of a draft draft before centers that the all star teens since then it's cetera and looks like a good fit and the hawks returning to do this year. He's not, you know, super fast, like Netherlands Noel or Willie collie Stein, but he moves pretty well, but I was looking in terms of the almost the first physical thing I tracking young big men is foul rate how often they saw when they play defense. So Alex Len, let's go rookie year six point, eight per thirty, six minutes. Second year, five point one, then four point five in back up to five point, six shop blocks went up in your four, but you could tell he was chasing blocks instead of playing good defense last year. To four point. One stop chasing blocks posing shooters as the ram shot only fifty five point, nine percent that's like dream on green level. Let's really, really good. And what I see him playing functionally, he's done positive things. He could not handle Stephen Adams at all in game three, but I'm not going to disqualify guy his third game with a team and even. Whenever they matched up. So you get fifty five or whatever. They're still going to have to have a team approach how they try to Stephen, that they offered the glass. No one player is going to do that. And that's going to be true for twenty-seven teams in the league, right? So, but when I watched him play, but he's still wants a pretty positive things. He's hazings nobody's doing any seems to know where he's supposed to be, what they ask him the do, he's used to be able to do it reasonably well. It occurred to me that let Alex Len Devon Booker. Devante read whatever names you throw out there. Justin Jackson, if they turn into really good down Bucker is already obviously very good. We've had discussion, but I think those players are going to look back and say, you know what? I was better for the one year. I was Jay Triano, and I think no one's going to remember that Jay Triano had anything to do with whether those guys coming good players. But I think Alex lens a better basketball player right now because of the ones that China was their head coach..

"I don't think that the kings currently have that superstar caliber player. And again, maybe FOX can develop into that, but I'm not so sure. I think FOX will eventually become a very good player, but I'm not sure about superstar status. And I'm not sure like looking at the kings right now, do you think they've kind of made it known that FOX is the guy there. I'm not so sure. I mean, I've been here in Harry Giles name a lot, and you know what the guy who I think needs to be. The guy is Marvin Bagley. The kings had the number three pick in the draft this season. In they could have had Luca Danni who everyone has been raving about, but they chose to go with Bagley and actually the kings. The number two pick excuse me. So the number two pick and they chose to go with Bagley. Bagley I think needs to be that superstar. You can't mess out, picks that high because if you do it sets you back years and that's what could be happening here. Like I said, what the kings? I'm not sure they're in a position where they can afford to miss on a pick. They're not like the Boston Celtics lucked out of four predicted. Brooklyn picks. The kings got to hit on each one. I like Bogdanovich. I like FOX. But where is the superstar at? Who is the superstar that you're gonna build around? And I'm not sure that kings know that they said, I think they want it to be there and FOX, but I'm not sure if they know it's the FOX. And yet I'm not trying to eat on the kings or anything like that. I'm just trying to ask the question here. So, I mean, it's gonna be interesting. Like I said, I think the guy's gotta be Bagley. He's your number two pick in the draft. Usually that's the guy you build around. And if that's not the case, then the king's messed up here. I'm not even sure if badly will be starting this season. I'm sure you're gonna go with Randolph or maybe a Willie collie Stein at the four. Maybe you could see Bagley. But either way, like I said, I mean, they're kind of stuck in that little gray area. I don't think the kings are a bad team. I think they have a lot of young talent. But sort of the Lakers last couple of years. The Lakers cooked can't build around Lonzo. I don't think you'll ever be that superstar. Brandon Ingram could be, but again, he's got a develop still. So what did they do in order to compete now they went out and got LeBron you later the jazz Donovan Mitchell was that superstar. That's why they would go to the playoffs. So get maybe the future superstar. The king is a guy that needs to develop a little bit currently on that roster or they figure out a way to trade for superstar because I mean, the kings of free agency is like the Celtics free agency. You don't really sign top free agents. I mean, the Celtics best Asian that they've ever signed was, I guess now Gordon Hayward, but before him out Horford. So I'll be watching the kings this season. I like to see them do well. I mean, especially for the fans, they got some of the best fans in the NBA. The fans, obviously wanna see that team succeed, and they pay good money to go watch that team even when they're terrible. So we'll see what ends up happening with them. But like I said, the king gotta find the guy to build around on that team. Maybe it's FOX maybe at someone else, but either way, if you want to become a playoff team, you have to have that one guy. So we'll see what ends up happening. Like I said, I mean, FOX had some moments last year where you look like a top player book. I mean, he hadn't done it consistently consistently left enough, excuse me. So see what ends a problem with them next up. We're gonna be talking about the timber wolves along with anything else that I mean has to do with that. So stay tuned and I'll be right back. The average sedan is built with a steel frame and equipped with six airbags. Remember this. The next see someone walking drivers be aware, pedestrians, don't have.

"Let me see. I'm like, okay. Yeah, the kings apparently have more space because they traded away coach gear at temple. So took the kings. They could be setting up to light take Ryan Anderson off the off the rockets hands for pick which again, I wouldn't hate. Yeah, I think they got exactly one more million dollars space take. Yeah. The the kings are such a fascinating fascinating because we're about to side b leads. I don't think that's Fisher yet after elites bold, the pull the old switcheroo. Also they traded for macklemore, Deontay Davis. How do they have more roster spots? How. Thirty six min roster. And they're all getting exactly eleven minutes a day. I get it, but just like legally. Fifteen man roster. Still failing active, active starters. It's. It's a scene over there in Sacramento. It's an absolute seen. I'm looking right at the kings roster and I. They have the guys like without numbers that are like some early guys that might team whatever they won't make the team. They've only got one Begley the rest. They've got a c, one, two, three, four, five. It's eleven twelve thirteen fourteen fifteen. Sixteen seventeen eighteen players. Then Marvin Bagley. They've got nineteen players. We've got through preseason yet like they they might pick up a couple of guys. There. We gotta get paid, man. I, I don't know. You gotta pay the cool man look at. Look at. Man. Oh, man. Side note though, as little surprise, Memphis kind of the Gary topples find a fine human being decent play, but it felt like the kinds of gave away deonte Davis somebody had wrote about it was like, basically they were tired of him just not trying. All right. I was like, I get it like, and they put like some clips with it. Was him like getting boxed out by like guys, trying to make some relief team like guards were boxing him out and it's like, you know what? Yeah, I get. I've, you've got a solid Jaren Jackson, RAB like anybody that's willing to try. Okay, right. And I was high on him, but yet you're going to do stuff like that when you know you're like your ass on the line and. Yeah, that I hadn't heard. I just remember last year he had like a couple good games like in the middle later in the season, but played fifteen minutes a night last year, average six and four on sixty one percent. But I guess if he just doesn't give a fuck then. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Those is and you get like if Parsons healthy at all, he play some for colonists who play some four. So just right, we're we're good buddy. Have you heard about Sacramento Kings like give them here. We're gonna run out Bagley Giles scale. Willie collie Stein, Deontay Davis. You know what I'm debating like putting a little money on I'm listening. 'cause I didn't realize he played exactly zero games last year. I thought he had to have checked in at some point. He didn't Giles. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Now they shut him down whose life before some really. They were like, oh yeah, this is Richard which appears had been removed. A little Giles rookie of the year. Money must pay like five hundred thousand to one. Put one dollar on it and just see what happens. Just how did call you retire? We'll Harry Giles one rookie of the year. He bet the change in his pocket on Harry jazz when're giving..
