You heard him talk about food insecurity last week at the UN and the investments that we have put forward as the United States of America and helping and helping deal with that. Look, he was at an event. You all saw you all watched, which is why you're asking the question, right? Where he was calling out again, congressional leaders, a bipartisan leadership that we have seen on this particular issue. And again, he's going to see her family in just two days. It belonged to my great great grandfather built it. Mark shines an upstanding and affable guy, and for a person whose father, grandfather, and great grandfather were all farmers, farming is his life. But for a lot of people and pick away county these days, Mark isn't a sympathetic retired farmer. He's the enemy. He's the reason their community is changing for the worse. There's already hard feelings. It was all about money. Nobody's happy about it. But what was it that made so many people turn against Mark? Well, he and his family made the daring decision to stop farming corn and start harvesting solar. The result? A town feud that at its core is about protecting a sense of home. Mark and his wife Tony never got their kids into farming. Instead, one became a lawyer and the other school teacher. We knew that there wasn't enough here on 300 acres that he could make a comfortable living. And in 2019, something unexpected happened. The shines were one of dozens of property owners approached by a solar company, which would turn some of their rows and rows of corn and soybeans into a field of solar panels. Critics call the Black Sea. These panels will be part of a 400 megawatt project that would power about 75 thousand homes. It would be the second largest solar farm in the state. It was an interesting proposition, because the shines could earn a ton more money from leasing solar than they could leasing the land to other farmers. Yeah, 5 times more. So this would be like good retirement. Like, good return cash for you. Essentially. And you know, they got a lot of people around here that thank you all to rent them the farm and they're talking maybe $200 an acre versus a solar money. $1000 in acres starting out. It's obvious why solar developers salivate when they see this part of the country. It's incredibly flat. "The sport has money to pay minor-leaguers living wages. And it's still not doing that. So as a priority. I'm guessing that major league baseball baseball. It's gonna be more interested in playing in hawaii or playing a game in the dominican republic or playing a game in alaska and then than they are and sort of doing right by minor league players. But this is a commercial enterprise. So they've got the inventory to try to figure out how to capitalize on this. Yeah i mean the thing that comes to mind is what bryan. Curtis of the ringer often says. Which is that. The ratings of whatever sporting event have no effect on your life and yet. I think a lot of fans feel like i dunno. It's like if you're a baseball fan. Maybe a rooting for the ratings to be high. Because you want people to like and care about your your sport even if ultimately it just seems bizarre that you're like playing like television executive or sports executive because there's joel said you can watch any game the you want and it's never been a. It's never been better or easier to beat a fan and yet there is something about wanting to feel like the thing that you care about is at the center of cultural conversation or a cultural moment. Which baseball was this week. Just sort of out of nowhere for no particular reason and the idea that you could just generate this attention with just a good idea. I mean i think it's kind of i can understand why you think that was if you're a baseball fan and the fact that it was just like so random and just put it game in the middle of iowa it does. I think lead one to think like okay. What other ideas can can we have. But maybe it's like international games feel more kind of like transparently like attempts to grow the game as opposed to necessarily doing something cool for fans whereas maybe this felt like. This is the thing that all baseball fans can enjoy. Is that in the same way that baseball. Playing a game in williamsport pennsylvania during the little league world series has been successful. It looks cool. Images of the the kids with the big leaguers is cool wall it feels really genuine. Does connect the players with their childhoods. I'm and it makes you feel warm. And fuzzy and the ratings are just a byproduct i mean the focus on ratings a silly but they do show that people tuned in to watch the game in iowa and that is going to be a sign that they might tune in to watch games and other exotic places. I mean the thing that's been really successful as the outdoor games for the nhl which leads one to wonder you know joel. Should they start playing baseball games and frozen football stadiums. Maybe maybe maybe. Maybe the yankee bowl do people you know that the college football game that they used to play a yankee stadium like i mean. Do people tune into watch that pinstripe college. Football the pinstripe bowl to people. Watch that because it's in a unique. And i think there's there's a limit on how much the unusual background or setting four-game can work. I think this was a big deal because we were building up to it and there was so much bill. I just don't know if you can replicate that well. I think it's a question of like doing it in moderation. There's been some criticism that the nhl is actually overplayed the success of the winter classic games by scheduling too many of them and diluting the specialness of it. So i'm sure there is an entire group major league baseball headquarters trying to figure out right now how to move this forward and find other venues where this can generate the same sort of enthusiasm and curiosity that the field of dreams game did. Because we're getting ready for the NASCAR playoffs. It's because the Little League World Series is going on. Now that we've gotten over the Olympics, we can start focusing on the important competition in life and to me that is the Little League World Series. The most pure and simple form of sports. There is because these kids are in It For the Love of the Game. They're not hugely, skillful, they're not hugely, talented. Some are some are just normal kids who are just on the right team at the right time and maybe going to enjoy the best time of their life in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Nashville, Suburban teams over the course of the last decade or so have done really well in the Little League World Series. The team from Nolensville Tennessee, has made the semi-finals, but it truly is my favorite time of the year watch sports. I'm just in awe and in love with these kids and what they're doing, what they represent and just enjoy the experience, that's the important thing. Pure and simple. The way Sports used to be when we were kids wage.

Obviously, when the big leaguers get here, the literally will be running up and getting autographs and photos and southeast and Instagram stories and all that. As soon as I remember the cardinals got here first before the pirates and they got off the bus and they were going after because they'd already watched a few of the games. They literally new kids names. You know, Carlos Martinez had some kids internationally that he like. I think it was a catcher Venezuela that he was like, totally adamant. I need to find this kid. I want my photo. Can I get your picture? Got his autograph, and it was so genuine. And this is before the cameras were even on them, or I mean, these big leaguers were fans of these kids. And to me, that's what makes us special is I think we only a bit of a reminder of like why the game of baseball is really played, but especially those guys not to like knock any player by any means, but. I think one hundred sixty two games. You would get it at the grind, but you get here and oh my gosh. Is it exuding up every just pure love for the game? You know, are they that towns and most of them aren't, but oh, they love it and it rubs off and you can tell when the big leaguers get here that there's a little bit of that. Just I remember when I was eleven years old. I remember when I was twelve and you know the stories just come out and it's it's cool and it's important. Along those lines about the players who play in the Little League World series. This week's poll question is who among the alum of the Little League World series, my goodness. There's so many from Chris story. The, you know, the the NHL player who so many current major leaguers Scott Kingery, Michael Conforto in our game or guys who played Little League World series, but who is the best alum of the Little League World series was played in the big leagues in the four choices and believe me. We could have had so many more Todd Frazier, Jason Varitek, Gary Sheffield or Dwight Gooden who would be the best alum of those four. You know, I put Todd Frazier, I voted this week because there's something about him that still just screams little league. I mean, anyone who's ever been around Todd Frazier and BUSTER. I know you know this, you've been around him. I mean, and part of its maybe his size and just as demeanor and the way he acts. I mean, he, he, he's still just has kid and love for the game the way he plays the game.
