"On this part of the show we will have the came campsie. Definitely kiffin kiffin. Stoops will be with us tomorrow. I'm gonna keep going down the i. I've never taken accounting but what i'm looking at right now. Folks is like is like doing accounting. Because it is so complex with so many crosses wednesday jimbo fisher and leach will be the two head coaches that we will have on here and i mentioned hartson and pitman. I believe on friday. So what's going on in the sec network has coverage every day today started a little bit later with commissioner but it goes on all day so what you're getting is Depending on the time saving we'll be on. I believe he'll be on on wednesday morning. So yeah we will not be interacting with him so i'll just kind of go over a few things that did happen today. The caller asked me molin has what i would probably guess as the court of the day so far about on the field. He was asked about georgia being favored in the east and his response was didn't they say that last year they did Florida but but but quite frankly that's not true because it Florida florida technically was was picked to win the division last year ahead to georgia but apparently mullen mullen may have forgotten that but why get. Let's as we always used to say back in journalism business. Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story and mullins case. He was simply trying to push. It was one other really interesting story today. And this was by. Ross dellinger and the commissioner commissioner sankey alluded to some of it alluded to some that later on but in essence. He talked about how the game of college football is changing from administrative and structural standpoint. And you've heard us talk about so much of this in the past but it is clear that the ncwa has seen better days. That's why you you saw mark ambert. The other day allude that more the power is going back to the conferences. This is not something that he ever wanted to do but he was forced into it. One more thing. I want to get to and and i i have sworn much too. Many people chagrin that We have reached our limit talking about cove because it was it was all we talked about last year. And i know if you look at the the channels. It's all people are talking about now. I'm not. I'm not giving you an opinion. I have no idea other than what people tell us in terms of where we are with covert it. It looks like we're taking a bad turn. But the commissioner of the sec was emphatic. Today when he said that the league is not planning on postponing or canceling any games due to cova. He said he said he said games are not postponed. Sat teams could have to forfeit if they have an outbreak that prevents them from playing. Here's what here. Let's listen to a great sankey said you hope not to have disruption but hope is not a plan as the great cliche. We still have roster minimums that exists just like last year what. I've identified for consideration among our membership. Is we remove those roster minimums and you're expected to play as schedule that means your team needs to be healthy to compete. And if not that game won't be rescheduled and thus to dispose of the game. The forfeit word comes up at this point. That's not a policy. And what you see. Are the book ends now for decision making. We've not built in the kind of time we did last year particularly at the end of the season to accommodate disruption. And then the last. We're going to do that or teams are going to have to be fully prepared to play their season as scheduled which is why embedded in my remarks is the vaccination motivation. And that's really what he's getting out and you don't need me to decode. The commissioner's comments. It's all about vaccinations right now and He made that very clear. And whether you like that or not. And that's a debate that we can have elsewhere. The commissioner of the sec was very clear today. In fatty clear that if players are not vaccinated and are forced to cancel games. It's on them. It's not on the league the la- last as everyone knows the league was accommodating. They were there was a a makeup weekend built in. And that's not happening this year His message you're you play as expected. You're you're expected to play scheduled. And he went on to say. That major team needs to be healthy to compete. And if not the game won't be rescheduled. So i don't know if you can make a stronger pitch to young athletes to be vaccinated. I've heard some numbers There are a couple of schools in the sec. I think that the numbers are seventy eighty percent. But that's not that's not everyone and we. We're watching this every day. I mean we saw the yankees and the red sox game cancelled the other night. We've seen countless players already bail from tokyo. So it's it's a message. That coaches are are being almost forced into delivering to their teams There's no other way around it if you're if you're not vaccinated you have to go through testing protocol and in anyone who's gone through okay. All right i had to take a cova test the other day just to get just to come down here and these players and coaches have gone through this repeatedly for a long time and that's the only way to get around it one other thing. That was interesting today We're gonna talk to you tomorrow. I think tomorrow with harry allows junior. Who's been here a number of times. The commissioner also announced today that the president's and the chancellor of the league of approved they knew for diversity initiative that will establish an expectation for athletic department hiring process around key leadership groups. Sankey pointed out That lsu's hired the league's first black president william tate. In may he said there have been eight new head football coaches hired in the last two years and none of them. None of.

Maybe lsu had gotten it right With the hiring So that was last week though. And as you know living in baton rouge in louisiana later as a year ago when when you're watching the match nations of political worlds unfold. Let's pick up the story From that moment. And then we switch over to south carolina where we talked about The issues with bob kesling earlier with josh kendall is does does lsu avenue does it dissolves. You have a president or is he going to go back to south carolina. Well that's a great question. So the chairman of lsu's board of supervisors says that as of yesterday. He spoke to william tate. Who is the the south carolina. Provos who president and Lsu's board chairman says that provost tate assured him yesterday that he is committed to lsu and that he will be coming to lsu. And he's supposed to start. I believe july first or july second but we also have now that over the past couple of days. South carolina has made a pretty strong play to keep him and that might not be over yet. they william has said he coming to lsu and last week when they announced him as president he put on a purple and gold. Tie and everything. The contract hasn't been finalized. He hasn't signed his name on anything. And there. I think there's still potential for for this to keep playing out. His food called in the world of legal and agent dealings great leverage and i have no earthly idea as Son of us do what what is going on in colombia but their in a desperate situation. They'd almost looks like we're talking about. Lsu doesn't it. yeah it's very interesting because they are also in the middle of a sexual assault scandal that has rocked campus that has led to protests from students but has really upset a lot of people and lsu of course is still reeling from their their own sexual assault scandal and the the repercussions of that continue to play out on a day to day basis. So i think that dr tate will find himself in familiar territory at lsu. It was kinda funny yesterday when when all this news coming out there were some students south carolina saying you know why would he want to stay here when there's this whole firestorm of sexual assault. I don't think that by coming to. Lsu hell escape any of that. Let's so let's talk about that It's been relatively quiet at least in terms of headlines. But this is a story the un. Your colleague had been working on for some time. Where are we. So we've now reached the point where lsu has had to federal lawsuits filed against the university. One is They're trying to make it a class action lawsuit a group of women who say that they were assaulted on campus They have filed a federal title. Nine off against the university the other is an lsu athletic department employees who says that she tried to report sexual harassment and she was retaliated against for doing so. She has filed her own Federal suit against the university. Lsu remains under federal Department of education investigation of far as their crime reporting goes under the cleary act and as far as how they've handled title nine issues. So there's there's a lot to clean up here But lsu has also committed to spending one million dollars to fund their title nine off at their hiring people to to do title nine where they've created a few new systems and offices and things like that so we've seen a few changes a few. Let's talk about some of the recent moves on that campus. And some the presidential decision as it stands is significant. The university also hired kill mulkey from from baylor a school. That's had its own serious issues. And certainly her credentials are extraordinary with multiple national championships. Did you do see any connection with that. And what is going on just in terms of bringing someone in who at least Offers some positive. That's a great question. I think no doubt that there has been hope from lsu. That i'm making this kind of powerhouse. Higher of kim mulkey they are doing some things to to excite the fan base to make people you know have some safe and the university again and And it's you know tidal nine has these two aspects of it one of which is that women deserve the same as that and so from that standpoint her higher. It is a real blockbuster because she will out earn many of the man on. lsu's coaching staff In in lots of other sports but at the same time the higher calms while the lsu athletic department has been saying that. They're preparing for an eighty million dollar budget cut. The tiger athletic foundation does that they can no longer afford. To fund academic scholarships and and kim mulkey has said some Relatively controversial things about title nine at baylor during her time there..

"We welcome you to the second half of the program and there's been a good one so far christine brennan earlier and you heard from my bianchi but This next story is is really interesting. I tried to do it earlier. And i don't think i can do justice to what our next guest can. He is josh. Kendall is covered south carolina for many many years for both the local paper and now the athletic And the story is not simple but simply That a couple of years ago. South carolina conducted a a rather long search for a replacement to the very respected harris pesticides. Who not only was the president at at usc. But one of the more respected people in the sec. Around intercollegiate athletics. If i remember correctly. And i and i know josh can help me with this There were recommendations. The school The people in charge did not accept them and they ended up hiring a man named cows. One who Was the superintendent at west point lieutenant. General retired lieutenant. General in the army and Josh i don't know if i've got the story right so far but what happens next is is is a Is quite a yarn good afternoon and afternoon. Paul thank you for having me yeah. It's you know it's not simple to some Bob cavin arrived. You know in a messy and controversial way and and he carried that name on consistently for two years they mean it has been You know the the process that got him hired also got the university of south carolina's accreditation reviewed by the overseeing body. That does such things so that's never a good sign. It was an eleven and nine. Vote by the board of trustees so narrow and it's kind of been contentious ever since and the president has not helped himself In the meantime. I mean this are where we are. Now is kinda culmination i mean. He went immediately on on a statewide Media tour after getting the job and it and it back to back stops with local with with state newspapers had to afterward backtrack and withdrawal himself from messy situations In regard to will must champ insinuate that he was trying to find a buyout from us champ or something well on one conversation he said that ray tanner had had discussions with florida state. Which at that point had just bought out. I think seventeen million dollars for willie taggart with assumption. Being rhianna was having those conversations to figure out. How do you get rid of an expensive football coach. After that understandably blew up on social media that he released the crested released a statement saying no. Those conversations did not happen. There was that was at the florist newspaper at the greenville newspaper. There was a similar misunderstanding. However we want to do it so you know it. That did not endear him. I don't think the will must champigny didn't make world champs job any easier And and started his his sort of tenure with a in athletics. All poorly Sense dan we have seen are more. Women who gave universities has has given this university. Seventy five million dollars Send a scathing letter which she said that you know the supportive university of south carolina was the biggest regret of her life because the university did not immediately recognized and send condolences after the death of her mother A an oversight that many people laid at the feet of kathleen and chasm apologized for Now we are here with the commencement speech. Wear i get negative attention. Because he referred to just alumnis the university of california alumni and then more importantly more problematically part of the speech was plagiarized. Something that he is acknowledged while saying that he meant to a trip. He knew the remarks were not his and he meant to attribute that men simply overlook that now. We're at the point where he is offered a barbeque nation. It has not been accepted but things are still up in the air. Yeah and and and as you know josh. The piece the passage that he plagiarized it wasn't some curious passage that he a simple mistake could have been made he plagiarized. Here's here. He is an army man. An admiral the man who led the osama bin laden successful assault in two thousand eleven And who gave this speech at the university of texas in two thousand fourteen and you go. Google best commencement speeches of all time. This one's going to come up on almost every Every find its that list. Yeah yeah. I mean it's a i've heard nick sabin quote correctly the speech. I've heard other leaders as you know so. And by the way if this was the only part of the story that that was interesting it would be one thing. But there's another part of it and it and i haven't been. I haven't heard anything today. 'cause it may already be a moot point but the provost and the man who presumably was up for this job and didn't get it took the head position the presidency at lsu the other day what. What can you tell us about that. Well you take. It was basically the head coach in waiting on the academic side. Here he was. I think everybody believed they might have even say that. He's the guy who will take over when cast eventually is gone He got a lot. You know we'll circle this back around the wheel must champ again. That situation at texas. He got tired of waiting. Got a better offer in this week accepted the job at lsu there has certainly been scuttled in columbia today that hey if we can get this chasm thing wrapped up nice and tidy and quick. Maybe we can Get the bill ties house before the the moving trucks do and see what we've got there at this point in the day and that's really where we are at this story you know. Check check back sort of every hour of the day. You know that would be a hard sell. They would have to make some substantive and quick decisions and. I'm not sure that you know that this whole thing has been so messy at at this point. I don't expect it to be to be not be messy into quick and efficient. So i would anticipate that that william tate will still be the next president Shoe but who knows. This is always a tough question because we we we have. We've had a hard time figuring out. Who's in charge at. Lsu as you all as we all know Same question who who's who's in charge in columbia. Well the thing. That's a good question. It depends on who you ask. I think from a from a game cock fan's perspective. They think too many people that there is a history with this program..

"Here as this is headed to a run out to replace, of course, the longtime mayor Betsy Price, so we will have a run up in Fort Worth, Deborah Peoples and Matty Parker. What we saw in these races across North Texas is these mayoral races because there were a handful of them. Is that the incumbents did very well. But there were several cities where incumbents weren't running A Fort Worth obviously was one of those as well. So we had some new mayor's elected across North Texas. Import worth. We are headed to a runoff there, guys. Same is in Arlington, right? Where General spent a lot of money trying to win that seat. Yeah, That's right. Jim Ross really has on and mayor Protein. Michael Glass be lonely in the runoff as well, eh? So that's another race that was high profile. Those were two of the front runners Jim Ross, obviously well known businessman in the Arlington area, too. Southlake. We're gonna have John Huffman. He'll be going into a runoff. Deborah Edmondson. Garland Scott LeMay. He held onto the seat there. George Fuller up in McKinney. He'll hang on the mayor and William Tate, the mayor of Great Fine. He held onto his seat there. So Everett, eight or nine mayoral races here in North Texas? Yeah. Wait detained had about 80% of the vote in the Yeah, You did e mean he smoked him? Yeah. All right. Clicking double. Brian Bird one, just a handful of boxes right within the breakdown between peoples and Parker, you could almost draw a line through the city. Is that right? Yes. Yeah. If you drew a diagonal line from from southwest to northeast across the city of Fort Worth everything south of that line voted for never. Never. People's everything north of that line. Vote for Matty Park. Hmm. Now I'm exaggerating a little bit, but it's an interesting It's an interesting map to see what Brian Bird guarded votes from everywhere just but just $1 done full. "And Michael Riedel in the morning on 17. W. O R. Oh, the silence from Buckingham Palace is deafening. The big Megan Harry interview played over there and UK last night breaks all over are begging the palace to comment. On what Meghan Markle had to say. And so far nothing. Somebody. Some journalists caught up with Prince Charles and he was having none of it. That's what did you think of the interview? Go, everybody who was out of there. That was it for Mr Personality Bridge. Charles. Maybe he was the one who said that. I was wondering if Archie was gonna be darker, Not the baby of making and Harry with that. Let's bring in Johnny Oleksyn Ski who covers entertainment, The New York Post, Johnny Welcome. How jealousy you that when the Daily mail in the UK the big tabloid wanted somebody to speak for all of America and describe what America thought of making Harry they turn to, of all people, Michael Riedel to write a column. I mean, isn't that is that just embarrassing? Think they go to the best They go to the best? Well, I was gonna say What an operative for me today to speak to the Daily Mail. Michael Riedel. Yes, that royal expert Yeah, You know, it's an honor for all of us, Johnny. He's Helen. I read. So I read Michael column, And his point is that America loves the Royals, even though the Brits They're a bunch of entitled draft Now that confused me a little bit because I've known Michael Long time I listened to Michel talk on your show, and I was wondering which part of America is speaking about because I don't think she likes the Royals very much, do you? We don't call them brats all the time he did yesterday. What? Johnny? I was writing, not an opinion piece. I was writing a thoroughly reported I spoke to about 233 100 Americans yesterday to get a real sense of how they felt about making Would you speak with you? What? What do you do like about? No. I spent a lot of time reporting the story out. And my sense is that Americans really kind of like negative Harry because they're a little more open, accessible, more human than the starchy Kate. And William, You gotta admit, Johnny that Kate and William are pretty starchy. They're pretty starchy. They are pretty starchy. And yet that is why the Brits love them. They are tent poles of tradition. They represent duty, which was what the queen has stood for. For her long rain, and then you have. Gosh, Harry and Meghan who moved to California and have a chicken coop, the bridge, you know they I'm sure they weren't very charmed by Archie is chicken s O. They would much rather have William Tate reckless and their brand then Frankly, some whiny brats, too moved away. I tend to agree with Michael on that. Can you believe Meghan thing that she didn't Google the guy just how to use Google? Well, that was that was that was not Pat was ridiculous. Come on, that she had no idea what she was getting into. When she married into the royal family that she was joining the firm. Come on, Johnny, that was just Bs. Yeah. I mean, gosh, When I go on your dog and pony show, I leave Google what I'm gonna talk about. She's not gonna Google have a certain boy. He just gave us a compliment. That was no ever thought we'd never got such a good cobbler before we could do our estimation of his eyes has been raised the dog and pony and ride with me. Alexis Ke New York Post A Johnny, Uh, You wanted to talk about the cancelation of a TV of Ah, comic Carol, What's that all about a cartoon character like Cartoon character? Yeah, well, you guys start having a segment called the Cancelation of the week. Because the latest one is poor. Happy lip. You from the looney Tunes? Yeah. What's wrong with this guy? Emotionally.

"Now here's your host Jim Watkins. All right. We heard today with Raza. Rastegar and William Tate who are both product line champions for completion technologies innovative? And we're here to talk about their article in the July. Two Thousand Nineteen issue of world oil on page sixty three. It's called friction reducing flotation collar. Optimal placement increases efficiency running casing in long laterals. That's a long title. That's a very long title so but we're going to get into that but before we do let's talk with Reva and William about how they came to beat either educational background. Let's start with you. What is your background in? How'd you end up intervene so My background is in mechanical engineering. I went to the University of Calgary. My degree mechanical engineering. From there I went in the circular Casper beds and I was in forensic engineering forbids and then I did some h. back and then finally facilities before I ended up with the group that we're in now with completion originally with tracking completion solution. Then we were acquired by. It'll be twenty sixteen which ended up being an excellent move for us. It's been pretty phenomenal from a from a growth and personal and company growth perspective. So I've been really excited really fortunate to be exposed to some really cool technology and we're here to talk about one of them today. Excellent and how about you. How did you get here so I graduated with the Petroleum Engineering From University of Louisiana Bachelor and Masters and then I started with the company in designing pressure pumping equipment. And then after that I joined the starter by the time was I tech which was then acquired by Tricon in two thousand thirteen and then acquired by moving two thousand sixteen and then since then. I've been focused on multi-stage FRAC product line. And now currently. I'm looking after the the basically global product champion looking after the goal project. Well this is an interesting technology that you both came to it. I find it fascinating too. That you both came via. Tricon the lovie but this this technology is very interesting. I think anybody who listened to the podcast knows. I'm not a technical person so I thought this was a genius idea and we were talking a little bit beforehand in Rosa was saying. Oh yeah the there's been around for awhile. There's been different ways to do it. But Wha- The the difference in this technology quite interesting but basically what we're talking about is installing a barrier in the casing so that you trap air indicating so when you're pushing it down through the fluids in the horizontal part is buoyant. And so it's a it's an amazing thing and it keeps you from having to rotate casing and other things right risen. Yes actually in what? Y'All one step back that. Why even this technology came to exist and then when you look at it from two thousand ten til now. The oil production increased from six million barrel per day to nearly pass eleven million barrel per day now and that kind of motivated the job creators to drill longer lateral. Because once did the cost of a drilling is pretty high. So when you're in a in a well it makes more sense to drill further instead of having to go and lease another part of the land and then start drilling over. So that was the reason that basically motivated operator to drill further but it comes with challenges such as high friction the lateral section or how to how to get all the way down to the target depth and one of the solution that came to help these challenges was the use of buoyancy. Basically you trap air inside the pipe and helps it to get to target depth better night and so is this used on all long laterals or is it a is it a sometimes thing. I mean I know you talk about a little bit later on in the article. How to qualify whether it is actually a good technology for forgiven hole but give me. Give me a rough idea. Reservoir what what percentage of holes will use this fifty percent twenty percent? It really depends. The rule of thumb is if the lateral section is longer than the vertical section. You have to run one of those or you're going to face some challenges and you have to rotate the casing or account for higher connections to be able to actually run the casing all the way down okay. So that shed some light on that the ratio we talk about later on in the article so all right well then explained to us then a little bit about how this particular technology developed res- is opposed to what was used in the past the past they use plugs. Basically you run certain length of casing. Let's say ten thousand foot thousand feet of casing and then you set a plug and then you complete the rest of the case and then you have to go and retrieve that the drill it or on Saturday and remove it to be able to circulate and do cement job at that cost time and money right because you gave the do wireline down there and get it out or drill it out or something right you have some sort of well into. Renton not necessarily the wireline but you have to intervene. And that's costly. The next step was using ceramic barriers of the problem with ceramic when you shatter them they come into a large pieces and then if one of those pieces gets down the wheel and basic causes malfunction and do the the shoe or caller. Then you have a open. Well you never close so that was the challenge with the then they put some debris catchers which comes with extra extra cost. Were more well planning than the next generation was using a glass barrier the benefit or adventure of glasses are when they shadow there shouted two small pieces. And it's like and then you can pump them into formation like pumping properties into formation. So it's like a safety glass like when you shatter a windshield or something comes in those little pieces. Yeah and then very fine pieces almost powder. Wow interesting that is interesting so as we go through this This article starts on page sixty three and so it talks a little bit about the technology but then it talks about the placement methodology which we touched on just a few minutes ago but I I thought it was quite interesting because of this ratio. You talk about right and so Resum can you explain to us a little bit about the ratio so it's it has to be wrong as it is deep basically you correct. Yeah if the section is longer than the vertical section you have to run one of one of these tools and then the question is where when you do these long laterals you have challenges like high friction in the horizontal section and then because of that then you have to put more force into the vertical section that essentially caused buckling. So you have high friction. You have buckling. And then one of the solutions is to put heavier connections or rotate the casing but not all casing are suited or designed for rotation. So you run one of these tools basic. Then you have the frictional force in the horizontal section in the Vertical. You have the gravity force There are two forces that acting against each other and then there is a balanced point. Where you there is a neutral point where you basically put this tool that helps your gravitational force to be higher than the frictional force essentially run the casing down. Okay that's the ratio. That's that's what we're dying. We model that we have a software that we use and we put the well bore while survey the and then put all the casing promenaders all the forces and the run different models different scenarios. And I'll tell you which one is the optimal placement which will give you the highest hook. Vote Right now. Tell me something because I didn't I didn't see it. I see in on page sixty three for people who are falling along. There's an image there figure one and actually shows the the piece of glass that goes inside but is that all it is. I mean is it. You just live in a simple as it. Just a piece of grass and trapped inside a pipe. Heavy pipe and the pipe is part of the casing. You BUCKET DO THREAT. It in your. Yeah okay so it's just a special two so some threaded in part of the casing and then once the casing gets to target depth you increase the pressure at surface and ruptured a disk and the shattered glasses gets pumped down to the formation. And then you have the the circulation is basically established for Cement Jaw. Exactly exactly so now Williams. The next part of the article takes us through some case studies. So can you tell us about those so pretty much? What we tried to do was kind of showcase from really get example. The well that we've seen some really great success with and it's like the first case study we're talking about in Pennsylvania and this is actually a pretty common thing now industry so we're doing longer wells the world doing many things that actually causing is you can imagine. The least isn't what you're wondering ideal well phasing down so when you drill vertically. You're close to the next well next to you. So you have to kick in kind of a different angle and this is actually making the problem worse for for running casing it right. You're you're creating more contact with the walls of your well. You're causing a very complicated geometry to compound your friction problems right right all. Basically what's going on? They're not only. Are you having been long laterals where you have to be gracious to consider? But you're also having a complex geometry so we talked about in the article about requiring a deviation survey and that's that's a big part of it right it's determining where you're tight spots are going to be you know well and how much friction that's GonNa contribute the when you use the flotation collar it. Actually the reduction in friction makes it a lot easier to make it.
