"The corner with this as well coming up at seven thirty five take a look at some of the big events that happened on this date in history on this date January the seventh in sixteen ten Galileo Galilei discovers the first three moons of Jupiter on this date in sixteen ten understated seventeen fourteen it wasn't built for years later but the typewriter is patented by Englishman Henry mill and I don't think for centuries later this correction ribbon come along as well but it was on the stage three hundred and six years ago also on this date in eighteen ninety African American inventor William Purvis received a patent for the fountain pen also on this date in eighteen ninety four how glorious is this it's the first ever copy righted five second film it's of a gentleman named Fred ought sneezing and it was filmed by Edison manufacturing they've gone with something a little bit better like maybe a waiver hello or something but I guess you got to take what you can take their also on this date in nineteen twenty seven the Harlem Globetrotters played their first game in Hinkley Illinois was dated nineteen twenty nine the comic strips Tarzan and Buck Rogers first appear in newspapers on this date in nineteen sixty three on this day in nineteen sixty three first class postage was raised in the United States twenty five percent it went from four cents to five cents on this date in nineteen sixty three also on this date in nineteen sixty four the Bahamas become self governing and then this is just such a random when I thought I would throw this in there too professional bowler Dick Weber rolls the highest bowling game in the air he was on a Boeing seven oh seven I guess he was bowling on an airplane okay all right I guess there is demand for that others in the nineteen sixty seven the new the newlywed game premieres on ABC TV on this date in nineteen ninety two eighteen T. releases the video telephone one thousand four hundred ninety nine dollars on on this date in nineteen ninety eight and then finally on this date and nineteen ninety nine that impeachment trial begins and in two thousand nineteen one year ago today Amazon overtakes Microsoft to become the world's most valuable listed company for the first time or seven hundred ninety seven billion dollars in there you have it on this date in history I know Google's got to be in there somewhere and often times I think I'm guilty myself of googling health symptoms joining us on the program this morning as well this expert dusty hall dusty happy new year thank you for joining me how are you Sir I'm doing great doing great thank you so much for having me it's terrific to have you on here I'm guilty of googling symptoms hi sometimes it's helpful to me but sometimes I think it sends me into into a bit of a tizzy because of all the options that could be wrong with me you know when you lose a really good point and then you really hit the howling little exponents as far as we see this one actually practitioners because the last thing we want you going to do is panic we want you look for a we want you to feel better we will work with you however on the other end what that also does is it allows you to educate yourself on your health because health care is a two way street now all recently in healthcare there's a little bit of a bad rap of of well doctors mail people and I know how old and there's a lot of misdiagnosis so on and so forth but you know and everyone's goal in that picture however when people are when they do take action on health and and they are intentional alright then it really does help the doctor out quite a bit so I have found dusty that I when I go to the doctor from not feeling well the doctor seems to be able to pinpoint a little bit more what my issue is and perhaps hi it cut down on the number of tests they need if I can explain and try and tell them exactly what my problems are rather than just short and say okay here I am what's wrong with me really good point absolutely and so that's around to listen listen whenever there yet when I really have symptoms go ahead get on the internet read about it because what that's gonna do you know you might say you have stomach pains or whatever and he is a very credible source however there's probably eight eighty different reasons why your stomach pains but as you read it still sorry other symptoms are you tired you're not sleeping well are you having headaches that you're having trouble digesting food is that when you either either the stomach ache is there a few exercise some support and all those things are very helpful and and very good information for the doctor and those things that you did research and make a list on that that you could tell the doctor and that's that's going to be it's it's it's invaluable to help them to help you treat yourself and so that's the point let me ask you this really quick how much time do we have a one on one legal issues with a few more take away so sure I got we got on terms with about two or three minutes so absolutely we would love some take aways on this awesome okay great one other thing one at that I wanted so the listeners there is no don't panic but don't go into the into the doctor will with an expectation of of what you're gonna treat you I don't want to look list of symptoms they went to medical school for a long time they want you to thrive and the reason I say not store with some expectations is because a lot of times when we have patients that have expectations they don't follow their instructions as well and so it doesn't we shoot so the best outcome and that's not good for any of us because again in the medical business we want to see people from every once you people get better and so occasion you know again expectations like you're a little bit in the way that suddenly everyone needs to serve an annual physical even also so well because there's things that we're not finding that physical that all we need to do is tweak by maybe drinking an extra couple water little what should or not a lot that's gonna shoot impact on your life later on down the road this little bitty changes I can tweak every year when they get that physical people and then the last thing I would say as make sure your schedule fall with that doctor if you have symptoms Dan asked the doctor what snacks and then well I said that was last with the only other thing I'll say is if you don't have a great relationship there's plenty of doctors out there shop around when when you work with us I would love it if I if it we got thirty seconds forty five seconds est I'd love to offer a follow up question to you yeah dusty I would assume it's a good idea to get to know your doctor and know what they're what maybe what they're imho is typically do you have a doctor that typically prescribed only when absolutely necessary or they go with a low dose and work their way up or are they you know if you go to the doctor they trying to you know really if if you've got a viral infection really just hit it hard you know the first time out I I think that goes with your expectations of of going into a doctor you almost have to kind of know who your provider is I I suspect that would be helpful to know what kind of an expectation on how you're going to be treated as well right yeah absolutely and then every situation is different sometimes you'll have some bacterial infection and they really need to have it harder but that doesn't necessarily mean that doctors MO is is to give you a bunch of medicine you might have other situations we tell people all the time Hey you know get someone else try to sleep six seven hours drink some water and and relax we toned it to give it a few more days before the Cummins symptoms consoling you then go ahead and come on and so every situation is gonna be different and I I it's hard for me to believe known as many practitioners in positions that I know that that one is just one can over Medicaid versus the other one that doesn't mean there are a few out there but the first few and far between great point does he really well Hey thank you so much for joining thank you for giving us lecture time to answer that dusty hall wellness expert I and I hope you have a healthy and happy twenty twenty hope to catch you get real real soon yes Sir please they've got worse thank as thanks dusty Memphis morning noon and.

"First things first macadamia nuts are not actually ups. Yes I know it's ridiculous. It's right there in the main for goodness sake but much like Brazil L.. Nuts again what is it with. These misleading names. The Macadamia is in fact a seed and although they've become a signature staple of Hawaiian Agriculture Macadamia. His are actually native to Australia. We spoke with Glen Soko an economic development specialist with the Hawaii County Department of Research and development he explained leaned Macadamia. Nuts are originally from Australia but much of the early research breeding work quality development were done by the University of Hawaii on the island of Hawaii. These cultivars are suited for the Hawaii. Climate and do not produce the same high quality nut when grown in foreign conditions cultivars is short for cultivated varieties and these are specific types of plants selected and cultivated by humans. In this case. The plant is a large bushy tree that starts producing macadamia nuts spy the time. It's about four or five years old. So how exactly did these Australia cultivars and up in Hawaii for that you can think. One William Purvis office. Who planted the first Macadamia tree on the Big Island in eighteen? Eighty one purpose didn't initially intend for the tree seeds to be a hit. He planted the trees as wind breaks as for the sugar cane fields. The plants were functional and also happens to be quite pretty but he didn't suspect they could bear such delectable and profitable. See it's about a decade later. One are Jordan planted some macadamia trees on Oahu. The trees that researchers think is the ancestor most of Hawaii's trees and the not quickly became a popular snack among businessmen who came to Hawaii to profit off of sugar plantations in the early nineteen hundreds. The Hawaiian Agricultural Experiment Station was established published to get new crops growing on islands since this newly established United States territory was relying almost exclusively on sugar following the collapse of the coffee market. In the nineteen twenties. The government offered a five year tax exemption on land that was used solely for Macadamia production. But most farmers were interested. That is until roasted it. BECA Damian that's started popping up in stores and consumers went wild demand finance went up and the number of trees planted for nut production more than doubled from nineteen eighteen thirty two to nineteen thirty. Eight sales slumped a bit after that. But by the Nineteen Fifties Hawaii was turning out macadamia goodies to stack fans throughout the world and major companies. They're considered the most expensive have nuts in the world. So what's the deal. A bunch of factors go into the price but a lot of them. Come down to the fact that Macadamia can't be grown effectively. On the continental dental United States and shipping them in from Hawaii is costly and growing things in Hawaii is costly to begin with because it's a small archipelago that some three thousand miles title. That's nearly five thousand kilometers away from anything in two thousand. Eighteen Macadamia has made the news for a seventeen percent price. Increase which sacco attributed to Hawaii's fixed harvest acreage and a higher global demand. Furthermore Issaquah said it takes seven years for a Macadamia nut tree to produce a crop. Demand remains high and prices are up to a dollar twenty per pound despite this. There's tremendous pressure on the industry. The agricultural labor shortage continues and that's caused wages and benefit costs to increase invasive. Pests continue to affect the Orchard Health and production. The Hawaii land prices are so high. Hi Orchard Expansion is too costly and producers can't wait for seven years therefore the production acreage remained steady despite the increased demand for the nuts. Okay so that explains the cost but are they actually good for you. High fat foods used to be the most demonized of all kitchen staples basically because of a very effective and sort of insidious marketing campaign put out by the sugar industry but thanks to current research and slightly Leila systemic marketing hype such things as nuts oils and seeds are getting their due as healthy options.
