"What's that? I know you. Hey, you are. Want to hear another one? Oh my God. Okay, let me find another good one for you. Christmas in Rome. Angela is fired from her job in Rome as a tour guide just before Christmas. But luckily, she crosses paths with an American executive named Oliver, who's trying to buy a high end Italian ceramics company. Oliver hires Angela to be his tour guide around Rome. And the owner of the ceramics company won't sell it to him because he says Oliver does not understand the heart and soul of Rome will Angela be his teacher. I think so. That one is the most intriguing so far. That if they shot that premiere just a couple of days ago on Saturday. Really? Yeah, that one's brand new, everybody. I'm watching that one. I'm watching it's going to be in the ground. It's going to be crazy. You're listening to the best of bobbin sherry. Everyone back home, it's major Ryan bullard deployed in the Middle East currently with three four 7 RSG. Just want to wish everybody a happy holidays, especially my family. My wife Sharon, and my boys are Ryan Canaan. Love you all. Can't wait to come home soon. A heartfelt thank you for serving. Here's bob and sherry. You know the other day when you were talking about things not to bring up in conversation? Uh huh, yeah. Well, I came across something and I thought, oh bob's gonna love this. These are things that you can use to fill awkward silences. Oh, good, yeah. Well, this will be usable for any of our listeners. I saw this on BuzzFeed and it's just perfect. Okay. Because you and I, part of it is what we do for a living, we can not abide an awkward silence. Nope. It's gotta be filled. The only time I enjoy a good awkward silence is when we're in a meeting with management. Yeah. And then I can sit there with the silence of the grave. They're being screwed up. Yeah. As it takes. But otherwise, we like to fill an awkward silence. Here are some fun things you can drop into an awkward silence. Okay. Did you know that Shell Silverstein, the author of children's books? Wrote a bunch of hit songs, including a boy named Sue. Yes. You knew that? I did not know that. Did you know he was also a cartoonist in Playboy? I did know that. Yeah. No, he was quite the renaissance, man. Here's another thing. This will be fun to drop into a conversation like, let's say bob, you're at a party with a bunch of Mary's Friends. And they're talking about the TV show outlander, which you don't watch even though you should. But that's how you are. But you don't watch outlander. You've heard me talk about outlander so you know it has something to do with Scotland, right? You would clear your throat and you would say ladies in your way, so try it. I don't use the word ladies. I think it's. You know, I don't like demeaning. I don't like ladies or gals, but all right. You know, in that situation, I don't know how I get everybody's attention. I guess I would say, listen, y'all. You could tell people that the national animal of Scotland is the unicorn. Because people believe that unicorns exist at for thousands of years. And it's a belief that's apparently especially entrenched in Scotland, and it is their national animal. I'm going to be honest, if I did that, there would be a sight another awkward silence while people stared at me and one of them would go, huh. And I would look like a big Christmas ass. You think you couldn't finesse that? Well, there's no such thing as a unicorn. That's what makes it an interesting fun fact that it's the net a mythical creature is the national animal of Scotland. It's one of those things. No, it's too out there. It's so bizarre that I would know that. They would just pause. How about this one? How about this one? Tell me how comfortable you are with this one. Hey, I don't know if you knew this, but Nikola Tesla once fell in love with a pigeon. To use his words as a man loves a woman. He nursed her back to health and then fell in love with her. Tesla, the inventor of electricity, some people think. Fell in love with a pigeon. Huh. And had some kind of relationship. See, they've got nowhere to go when you talk about a man who's with a pigeon. There's the gals, the babes, the skirts, the ladies, they got nowhere to go, but. You know when you express it that way. Yeah. Well, I'm a normal human being. That's why I did. This was the most bizarre punch alone. Here's another one. Ready for another one? Did you know that it was Tesla? Fell in love with what was it a pigeon? And loved the pigeon the way a

Thank you so much for listening to the podcast. Hey everyone, back home. It's major Ryan fuller deployed in the Middle East currently with before 7th RSG. Just want to wish everybody a happy holidays, especially my family, my wife Sharon, and my boys are Ryan Canaan. Love you all. Can't wait to come home soon. A heartfelt thank you for serving. Here's bob and sherry. So my wife married decided that the tree would go up last night. And the tree is up in the attic in a bag. She's had it for years, along with these big tubs of ornaments. She's very organized with this stuff, you know? So she said, I'm going up there and I'll hand this stuff down. Cover me. Going in. And then we grabbed Hampton because he's getting older and she wants him to be a part of doing this. So we went up there and she handed me the tree and pulled this bag. It's really amazing. The whole tree is in there. It's not decorated, of course, but it's all in there. And then she had to go do something. And she said, would you bring down some of the other tubs? And there was that moment. There was that moment, as I was pulling the tub, we had one of those pull down ladders. Yeah, yeah. Just to go to the attic. Hampton's up there. Can he help can I help? He can do nothing at this point. Would this stop? I just don't want him to fall down and crack his head open. So I'm pulling the tub down and the tub is too, it's too fat to pull down. I don't know how we got it up. You know, it's a year ago, you forget how things actually work. Maybe I should have done it sideways. Maybe I should have gotten her to help me, but as I got it halfway down, it stuck. It stuck and I was gone. And I'm pulling it, and I'm pulling it, and then I hit my thumb. And it was at that moment. I said to myself, you got a choice here. The first word of Christmas. The first word of Christmas could be coming out of your mouth. And I stifled it. I just pushed the tub back. You only stifled it because Hampton was there. Probably. And that's okay. Yeah. Yeah. And he was watching me and he said, what are we going to do? And I said, we're going to find a better way to do it, son. We're going to turn it sideways and see if it comes in. Can I help? Yes. You can't help. But please don't fall down and crack open your head. We slowly pulled it down. And you know what it was, it worked. And I was proud because I did it the right way. Very often in my life, I've not done it. I have not done it the right way. I've done it. Anyway you can weigh, you know? Yeah. And let the word fly way, and I was proud of myself that I didn't, you know, I didn't do that. And then I did another good thing. I had a glass of wine, you know? Normally I would be sitting in my little reading area alone. I went downstairs, and I was a part of the tree decoration. I didn't really do the decoration because she likes to, but I was right there. I was involved. That's all you need to be is present. That's right. You seem to show up. Yes. That's and not complain, because they loved show up and don't women. That's right. That is really 50 to maybe even 75% of it for women. If you're a guy if you just show up while she's doing this stuff and don't complain. And that goes for shopping that goes for all this stuff. Even going to her sister's house. I will speak from experience now, not in my current life because this is not Kevin, but the man complaining about Christmas while you're decorating. Sweetie, it comes every year this time. And we're going to celebrate Christmas. Right. Like, did you really think that this year I would turn to you and go, you know, you're right. This is a pain in the ass. Yeah. Screw this. Kids were Jews. Did you really think that was gonna happen? No. No, it's not gonna happen. It's not. Instead, what I'm thinking while you're sitting there complaining. And I'm hanging the balls on the trees. You know what I'm thinking? Statistically speaking, how much longer can he live? Do you want that? No, no, I don't want that. No, you don't want that. And then I was faced. You know that I've furnished our House, right? So I consider myself to have an eye for what looks good, and she's picked a place to put the tree. That you don't agree with. No, it's difficult to get around and it's right next to the couch and everything. I don't like it. And I said, you know, sweetheart, over in that corner, it would have, it would really look better, and we could move around. She gave me such a look. That I said, I'm gonna go to Portugal. And pick up the pizza. Never mind. And it's gonna stay there. And I took her set aside and I said, let this be a lesson to you very early, wherever the woman wants that tree that tree is going to be. If she wants that tree in the bathroom, next to the toilet, that's where it's going. It I've never understood men who need to be. Shut up. You're not your claiming is not going to change anything. You're just a big negative sack of misery. Shut up. A what? A big complaining negative sack of misery, who statistically speaking, how much longer can you live? Stop ruining Christmas. Stop it. Wow. Sack of misery. A big complaining negative sack of misery. Not for Iraq. With shoes in the head. Just call it sack of misery. It's a great rock band. Zach. Sack of misery. I mean, listen, honestly, listen to some of these zemo records. They're on the couch. Just put it up and then we just got to take it down again. Just gonna put it up to take it down again. Shut up. Yeah. Shut up. It's a smart habit. Let her have it. I had one that I would put all the Christmas lights up on the outside of the house. And she would have nothing to do with it. Nothing to do with it. Wouldn't even bring the tubs down. All right? And then when it got done and the lights came on and I was like Clark griswold out there. Kids, look, should go. You missed over here. What about over there? And don't you think we should have some lights on the bushes? That would irk me. And that's when the holiday drinking began. Tell you one thing about being Todd's woman? You know, you're on the green mile at all times, right? So you better get with the mayor of holiday villages planned. Eyeball you and you know there's the door. I put her in there. The big sack of crisp, what was it? Big complaining negative sack of misery. Of misery. "Prayers up for my Queen, as he remains in critical condition at the university of Mississippi medical center in Jacksonville. We have not had an update in many, many hours. We've talked to several reporters covering the story, all we know is what the school released earlier and that the family is with his side at the hospital. Let's continue with more phone calls here. And rich is in Georgia, rich, go right ahead. Well, thank you for taking my call. Thank you. And it goes without saying that these kind of situations transcend football. And I've got to give a shout out to the legend. You know, I've listened to you on and off over the years. And I've seen this guy in the last few weeks. He's came around and what he said while ago might all sense in the world. It's all in fun. We all love football. We all love our teams. But at the end of the day. There's more to life than football. And I just want to give him a shout out if nothing else. To say, hey, man, I'm not an Alabama fan. But brother, you said a lot when you said that. So thank you for taking my call, Paul. Thank you very much. Rich, thank you. Steve is up next in Georgia. Steve, good evening, how are you? Hey, Paul, how are you? I just would like to say that when your wife wakes you up at 5 30 in the morning, checking her phone and says, what's wrong with culturally? I gotta tell you that that trend extends both of us being Georgia grads that, you know, just following the football coaches of the SEC is just as important a following the teams. And I got to tell you, I followed Michael each all the way from when it was Texas tech to Washington state looking forward to his postgame interviews and I got to say he's just been a door to watch and he's just as much as part of SEC football as watching the teams and prayers throughout to him and his family. Thanks. Steve, thank you very, very much for sharing that. TJ is up next. TJ Gordon had a long time listener first time caller Paul. Thank you everybody today is speaking and telling our thoughts and prayers for coach leach. I want to do the same. And I just want to also always legend listening to him laughing to him here in all stories, but he just gained the top notch respect in my book for what he just said about you and him hanging out with Mike leach and who he is. Hats off to legend, hats off to you, God bless coach Lee, and his family. And Merry Christmas to everybody. Thank you very much, TJ. Thank you for saying that. Let's talk next to Marjorie. In Mississippi, a hell of Marjorie. Hello, Paul. This is Marjorie from Oxford. Thank you. Thank you for taking my call. My husband actually met you and in the grove, SEC game day, and you were so gracious and kind to us. Oh, thank you. And it's been a lot of time with us. And we really appreciated that. I'm a died in the wool omens fan, multi generational. But I know that I speak for the entire owners family when I say that our thoughts and our prayers are with coach leech. His wife Sharon, their children, and with the Mississippi state family. And this is as you say, as a family, just like on this as a family. And as several of your callers and said, when it comes down to it, everything transcends football. It's about love for our human kind and people. And we love coach leach and his family and our prayers are with them. And I think I will say two words that I've never said before on behalf of coach leach and the Mississippi state family, hail, date. Beautiful. Thank you, Marjorie. Thank you very, very much. And again, I wish we had more to share. We are constantly in touch with people in the state and right now there is simply no news. And. Sadly, that is not good news. Let's continue. Francisco was up next. Good afternoon. Didn't hear him, so we'll try Eric and Georgia, Eric, go right ahead. Hello, mister fine mom, first time caller. Long time listener. Thank you. I just want to say that that was really, really sad to hear about coach leech today. He want to actually one of my favorite coaches. I'm a bulldog man. And just really want to send up prayers and just say hello and hope you have a Merry Christmas. Thank you for saying that, Eric, thanks so much. And in the same to you and everyone and I know we'll have plenty of time here before Christmas and it's just the juxtaposition of these two stories is jarring to many of us who are at Christmas parties tonight and tomorrow and shopping and celebrating just an incredible time of the year. And also having to process an utterly heartbreaking story at the same time. Let's check in with Michael in California. Hey Michael, go right ahead. Hey Paul, how you doing, man? Fine. Thank you for calling. Great, yeah. I just wanted to share a quick story I had. I was actually a grad student at Washington state while Mike leitch was finishing close to finishing his tenure there. And my wife and I, we were actually at the movies during football season. We were watching, I think it was the last conjuring film. And kind of the movie, everybody looks over and Mike leach just drove in and plops down in its seat. I thought it was hilarious because Mike leach. And anyway, long story short, I was like, you know what? I'm going to go up and talk to him. What do I lose? I mean, he's a great guy. I think he's a brilliant man. And I spent the next half hour just talking about what I did in grad school, but also kind of learning about how he got to where he was. And it was really heartwarming just meet such a down to earth person. And I don't know how else to share that with people that I'm glad you said that because we've heard from a couple of different people and various and similar stories and what always struck me is he was insanely curious about people and. I mean, I don't know many other I don't know any other coaches who would do what you shared with us or what the man said a few minutes ago about not only calling his father who had stage four cancer but would have dinner within the week of a game.

"But on Saturday happening, bro, we stick together down here in the south. We love y'all. We pray for y'all. And I'd just like to say in honor of coach Lee, Jim, squirrel, all them guys. I'll be hating y'all for real. You know, when I was playing today, I just got impressed upon my hardest to tell y'all guys. I would be having fun most time. You can't take me serious. We pray for your coach leaves. We love you, dude. You're an OG arrangement. Hey, you can beat it, bro you can beat it. That be proud. Thank you very much, legend. I'm really appreciate that. That's quite a call. Booker is up next in New Jersey, a hello Booker. Hey, Paul. How it goes out to the family of coach Mike lease. We prognosticators we come on with all of these certainties and the only certainties in life or the fact that it's uncertain. We don't know what the next moment is going to bring. We don't know who's going to raise the trophy in Inglewood on an in January. But I'm glad I went to get a haircut. And while I was sitting in the barbershop, the barber said one of the guys said, you don't look like you're not feeling well. I said, well, I don't. I will lay down in the emergency room with blood pressure up in the one 90s. And 6 hours later. I was out, so all I'm saying today, it kind of puts us Martin Luther King called a common denominator. Nobody's word. I heard anybody in the day by whoever number one is going to trounce number four number two child's number three. We're not even talking about the hoopla. Because something far more important and that is the life of a great fella is family. And anxiety is somewhere in a waiting room. The hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. So I have my wins tonight gather with my congregation. We're going to praise him and I'm glad that today I just leave this. I'm glad for the conjunctions. You are a writer. I'm glad for conjunctions that appear in the Bible. Weeping may endure for the night and then they'll come up and then there comes the conjunction, but joy comes anymore and I just pray today that the least Mississippi state university SEC college football world everybody we're just let's just hang together in this pool for coach leech and his family. And a beautiful words Booker. Thank you so very, very much. Judy is in Texas. Hello, Judy. How are you? Hello. Thanks for taking my call. I apologize if I got into light, but there is a book about how mummy it's called the perfect pass. Right. Have you read it? At one time I did. Many, many, it was written, I think, prior to him coming to Kentucky if I remember correctly. Yes. But it's an excellent book, and it has quite a bit about culturally, and then dinah hoggers and, you know, who's the university of Houston now? And it really is good. It's written by S seguin. Okay. Yeah, I mean, I remember coach Lee. I mean, the coaching tree of how mummy, which obviously we now credit with leitch. It is massive. It's incredible. Yes. Yes, it is. And I'll throw in another plug for Texas. It's written by S segue in, and he's a Texas author. Okay, well, I vaguely remember it when it came out. Judy, thank you for sharing that Richard. Is up next. Hey, Richard. How you doing? Thank you, Richard for the call. I appreciate it. I'm one of the Clemson fans around here by listening to your show almost every day. Thank you. Sometimes I laugh and sometimes I enjoy. I had to make a comment about the ER doctor that said that was in Mississippi, she of course was in Alabama for a while, but she made an astounding statement about people who live as she helps people to die. We had a real good family friends at they had a dollar that had died and she would have been of course accounting for many years and I think that when she was in the hospital and she really had no chance and she just kind of hang on and hang on and hang on by the doctor told him just tell her that it's okay to die. And so they do it. I guess it was hard to do, but just shoulder. It's okay to die. And she died and he was part of the family for someone like that to cling on. But I respect Michael each. I think he was one of the, one of the good coaches in the world, and I think when he was a Texas stick, I guess it was at Texas tech. If he was a good coach there or that iterated offensive he had anyway, I just my first time to call this project actually got owned, but I appreciate your show. I appreciate back to you. Talk a lot about football. I thought we wanted you to be on there and listen to thank you for watching. I appreciate you sharing that story. Let's check in with Ron. Who is in Virginia? Hello, Ron. Paul, it's a sad day, sir. I'm a longtime caller. My prayers go out to Mike leech and his wife, Sharon leitch. It's sad. I've been through a lot. You have to go through our age, Paul. I just want to say, I have been told the interview of the calls that I talked to on your show before I come on. I thanked him. It's a pleasure, just knowing him. Paul, I just want to tell you, it's a pleasure knowing you, you're something else and the SCC people and the Big Ten people are for Mike leach and your program and I'm going to cut you off. Thank you, sir. Love you both. Thank you very much for sharing that. You'd be well run, take care of yourself. We'll take a short break. Back with final 30 minutes on this Monday night. "As featured in Silence of the Lambs. I can't wait to. Retain this same time you learn who you take. You take a sense of I got a lot of stories about that song, though, Greg. Yeah, well, I remember you you mentioned this a years ago. Years ago, it went back and YouTube that scene. You are absolutely right. I mean, it really plays well in that particular scene. Really creepy. I want to go to speaking of creepy scenes. Rosemary's baby. The 1968 movie. It's really a terrifying movie. And it is made all the more terrifying by the acting that Mia Farrow does. And then Mia is the voice on this particular song. The soundtrack was written by a Polish jazz pianist and composer. Christophe komeda. He made one of the most important European jazz albums in 1965, and collaborate with Roman Polanski, the director of this movie, on a number of films. This is probably his most famous soundtrack, though. For good reason. He basically out of harpsichords and ethereal orchestration built this monument to just great creepy horror movies with the rosemary's baby main title theme. And then layering over the top Mia Farrow's voice. So you get this sort of childlike voice over the top of this kind of very creepy orchestration. And it's a lullaby. It's a song you would sing to lull a child to sleep, and yet it has this creepy undertow, which is basically the whole movie. You've got to get this constant sense of something really horrible. And the resonances that film has taken on, given Roman Polanski's wife, Sharon Tate, being murdered by a Manson Family, and the horrible me too accusations against Polanski. Absolutely. There are layers upon layers upon layers of that movie and the music contributes. Absolutely. And again, point back to cometa as the real hero here because he was an amazing musician who died young, but left behind an incredible body of work. He died in 1969 at age 37, so a number of serious losses then during that era. But here's the amazing rosemary's baby main title from 1968 on sound opinions. "But this stuffed animal isn't the only bait. Before the memorial service ever happens, John wants to use another piece of bait, if you will. Something much more precious to the Smiths. But this was the nervy part. This was the high risk part. Mister Smith is looking at me, and he knows I just I'm thinking of something. And John, I said, well, I'm thinking of doing out of an idea. What is it? What do you want to what do you want to do? Do here. I said, I sense when he was calling, he was fixating on dawn, and so I'd like to work with dawn so that when he calls, she can she knows how to keep him on the telephone long enough. So we can do a traps and trace. In the old days, traps and phrases, it would be, you have to keep in mind about 15 minutes. On the phone, which is a long time. So I'll work with it there. But I also want, like, using her as a decoy. I'm using her to last so in this guy, this guy, and misses Smith tells me, is there any chance I'm going to lose my other daughter here? And I said, no, I said, we'll give her the protection. Don't worry about that. Almost as soon as the memorial service is announced in the local paper, the killer calls the Smith household just like John knew he would. Don answers with John sitting right by her side and right away they can tell that something's different. This guy isn't using a voice modulator anymore. And John thinks this means that he's getting bolder, like he doesn't feel like he has to hide much anymore. It's clear to them that this man hasn't gotten past his obsession with dawn. Even though they're pretty sure he's taken Deborah, and he confirms this when he says something that sends a chill up the spine of everyone listening in. You know, God wants you to join cherry face. It's just a matter of time. This part Xbox this year next year. You can't be protected all the time. Even though Don had agreed to help lure this man out, I can't imagine the terror that she must have felt in that moment. But she barely even has time to process what he's saying when he confirms everyone's worst fears. And you know, have you heard about Deborah bay hamburger? The man goes on to give detailed directions just the same way he did with sherry to where they can locate Deborah. I mean, down to the foot. John is frantically scribbling it all down and writing notes to Don telling her to keep him on the phone, ask him personal questions, anything. But even though she does her best, the killer isn't taking the bait. The police trace the call to a KFC about 50 miles away, and of course he's gone by the time anyone arrives. Even though he's evaded them again, the police follow the directions that he gave, and about ten miles from where sherry's body was found, lying under a pile of brush in a wooded area is the body of who they believe to be Deborah. Just like sherry, it looked like she had been left out in the heat and elements for several days. But her parents are able to confirm that it's her when they see the clothes that she was wearing when she was taken. And speaking of her clothing, the investigators make a chilling discovery when they examine what she's wearing. In addition to the underwear that she was wearing at the time she went missing, she's also wearing a pair of adult size underwear. And the reason for this is kind of unclear, but John says in his book that he had been speculating the killer had more victims in addition to sherry and Deborah. He's just been too meticulous to practice not to have done this before, and he thinks that this underwear could be evidence in another case. Now that the killer has two victims and he seems to be getting bolder. John and the investigators hope that he's going to make an appearance at sherry's memorial service, which is held on June 25th. What would have been sheri's 18th birthday? They're joined by Deborah's family along with news reporters and other members of the community. Dawn stands between her parents holding the stuffed koala and then places it on the ground. She leaves it there and several officers stake out the grave in hopes that the killer is going to come by. He won't be able to resist taking it as a trophy. But he never does. Never comes by never takes it. Debra's funeral is held the next day and much like with sherry's the investigators are there, scouring the crowd for anyone who stands out. Even though Debra's parents haven't been contacted by the man who murdered their daughter, there is no doubt in anyone's minds at the same man as responsible for their loss as well. But by the end of the service the investigators don't see anyone in the crowd of 300 mourners who fits the profile of their killer. However, even if he wasn't there, the investigators finally finally have their first tangible lead. The FBI lab found something on sherry's letter. They ran it through a machine called the electrostatic detection apparatus for short. And basically how this works is they cover the letter in something thin like saran wrap, and then the machine runs graphite over it to try and pick up any kind of indentations on the paper that might not be visible to the human eye. And on the pages of sherry's letter, they find some clues. So they came up with look like a grocery list on there at first, a grocery list. And then there was a telephone number. And the telephone number was missing one digit. But the area code was Alabama. And the prefix was Huntsville, Alabama. Even though they're missing a digit, the investigators are eventually able to narrow down who that phone number could belong to. And they land on one man, a guy named Joe shepherd. Now, they don't know what role this guy has played in everything is he their killer to me, probably not. Not many people are writing down their own phone numbers, but at a minimum, their killer knows this guy's phone number, right? This guy knows their killer. So they get a warrant for Joe's phone records, and there's one number on this list that stands out to them. An incoming call from just outside of Lexington in Lake Murray. So when they go visit this Joe guy, they basically rule him out immediately just based on his behavior and his voice. But they ask him about this Lake Marie number, and Joe explains that it came from his parents house, which just so happens to be about two miles from where Deborah's body was found. Now they can not get to this guy's parents house fast enough. On their way, they learn that Joe's dad Ellis worked as an electrician which if you remember is the profession that the teen thought the killer had. And so, finally, they're like, this is our guy. We have him we are on our way to literally arrest the man responsible for two murders. But as soon as the investigators meet Ellis and his wife Sharon, their hopes fall flat, because everything about Ellis from his age down to the way he is speaking and behaving tells them that this isn't their guy. The shepherds also say that they were out of town during the time that both murders occurred. So even if they thought Ellis could have done it, he physically was not in the state. It was impossible. But investigators aren't just going to let this lead fizzle out. So they start asking them questions. They start describing the man that they're looking for, asking if they know anyone who fits that description. And wouldn't you know it? They do. And this to misses or shepherds, the shepherds, they look at each other and unison. We were told they said you're talking about Larry Jean bell. Lara Jean bell, he's an electrician. He's electrician for us. And you know, we let him stay here and take care of the house sitting for 6 weeks when we were gone. But you know, when we came back, he looked different. He changed his appearance. He lost weight. He grew a beard. He wasn't like that. And then on the drive home, all he talked about were these two murders. He was just obsessed with. In fact, we got to the house. He even had newspaper clippings that he wanted to show us. These

"Some actors especially a couple of well-known black actors rallied around Will Smith after his notorious Oscars smack last weekend tomorrow and weekend edition Sunday with Asha What that camaraderie means in the elite world of black Hollywood to tune in by telling her smart speaker to play NPR or your member station by name The Muslim holy month of Ramadan this weekend and in Minneapolis the city council has decided that the Muslim call to prayer can be broadcast outside of mosques several times a day Like the way churches ring their belts Minneapolis public schools also adopted Eid as a religious holiday in their calendar So children will be able to miss school to celebrate with their families We're joined now by Iman Macron Dumont elamin he leads the masjid anur in Minneapolis Thanks very much for being with us It's my pleasure to be with you as well Scott How are you feeling about these changes I'm feeling great I'm so excited These are historical milestones for the Muslim community here In Minneapolis and Minnesota in general my wife Sharon Ella mean is also a school board director and was really pivotal in getting the school board to acknowledge the holidays this year So we're very excited about that And then the wonderful news just ahead of this month starting of the event being able to be called by the city council's approval as also sent a wave of good vibes through the Muslim community going against the Ramadan So we're very fortunate very blessed right now I got to tell you the whole idea of hearing the call to prayer loudly proclaimed in Minneapolis a city which I have grown to love over the years That's going to be something Yes I mean I've had the privilege and honor to travel the world and to many Muslim countries and to hear the call proclaimed at the time of prayer for us is definitely a soothing to our spirits and our souls but it also helps to keep us orientated keeping the creator first and foremost in our lives So this is something that you know we're hopeful that we'll add to the wonderful Tapestry that is that we call Minneapolis and be an asset to not only to the Muslim community but also to our friends neighbors and allies as well It will however be yet another Ramadan during a pandemic Another pandemic run by that yes yes it will How were you and your mosque planning to observe this Ramadan You know first thing we're grateful that infection rates have definitely declined way down as of right now We're praying to know variants show their ugly heads north the mother Ramadan or any time in the future But we're taking things and strides to be honest with you You know we're following a lot of the CDC protocols the attendance has not fully come back all the way Maybe 70 80% I anticipate that increasing during the month of Ramadan as a generally does anyways So we're hopeful We're hopeful about that We generally break our facets sunset every day And we generally have communal dinners at the miles We haven't had that in a couple of years This year we're going to do a hybrid model We're going to have some seating but not to the degree we've had it before And also just a lot of you know to go and carry out those kinds of things as well just to have people get into the feeling and the spirit of it as much as we can People people will be able to see each other even if it's just to pick something up and leave I guess Exactly You know it was definitely come to pray together at sunset But yes the issues about community being in community being in touch with folks We have crisis and different things that happen in our lives Part of our go to is to come together It's to be together It's the fellowship together is to share pray together all those things and we've been restricted in many ways You know we close for just about a year During the pandemic and then when amaron flared back up we closed again for another month or so So it was that up and down kind of thing that has really been a test for our community There were junior in your heart this Ramadan that you can share with us The biggest is gratitude Honestly this gratitude being grateful to be able to see each other you know I think it is always trusting that the creator will provide a way for us you know even in the midst of all of these tragic things that has happened in our city the weather it's the murder of George Floyd and all the uprising that's taking place to us obviously the pandemic has touched my family I had the virus my mother had it We lost my aunt from the virus as well So this has touched home in many many ways So just the idea of being able to come back together during this special month the month of fasting the most reflection the month of you know self development and all of it The muscle being charitable et cetera all the things that we love to do desire to do it will be able to do at least in a greater measure than we have been over the past couple of years So I'm just excited and I'm so grateful for this moment I mean in Minneapolis thank you so much for being with us And Ramadan Kareem Thank you as well Thank you so much Ramadan Mubarak I'll be the one inside to work out why you're "Me said reverend Al sharp, and I'm looking at your face. I know who you are, reverend Jackson. We all do. I'm sorry. Want to get away? I mean. I suppose it could have been worse. Now, the late great golfer Lee elder just died. And I saw an article with the following headline. Is Larry elder related to the late golf legend Lee elder, and the article goes on and talks about Lee elder being born in Texas in 1934, youngest of ten kids. His father was killed in action during World War II, mom passed away after that. He and his siblings were raised by their aunt in California, went on became a caddy during to money became eligible for the PGA Tour in 1967. They had lifted his color barrier back in 1961 and in 1975, Leo became the first black golfer to play in the masters. Died on November 28th, 2021 was 87 years old, survived by his wife, Sharon elder. And the article explored whether or not Lee elder was related to lario. Well, I will tell you the elder is not related to me, needs not to my knowledge. And my dad was born in Athens, Georgia. I was born in LA. And to my knowledge, my the name elder has no relation to Leo. And keep in mind, the name elder was a man who was in my life. My dad's life the longest he was not my death biological father. So it's not likely that we're related to the elder, but I started practicing law in 1977 and Lee elder became the first black golfer in the masters in 1975. So it happened shortly before I became an associate at a major law firm in Cleveland. Now if I had a nickel for every time this happened, I could probably retire. Here's a scene. I'm in the law firm and a white partner who's probably in his late 40s, 50s or 60s. It's introducing me to another white person. It could be a potential client. Could be another person just visiting a friend, anything in the hall. Excuse me, this is Larry elder. He's one of our associates. And the white person would respond highly that happened over and over and over again. I practiced law at this law firm for a little under three years, and I am not exaggerating, I would say that happened at least at least 50 times. When some white lawyer at the law firm is introducing me to somebody and the person to whom he's introducing me, here are some say this is my associate Larry elder in the guy promptly says highly. Happened over and over and over again. And I would always say, well, you're thinking about Leo to the golfer. My name is Larry older, no relationship. And they would turn and they would turn beat red. And I would just smile and I basically say calm down. It's fine. Now I had no idea. I had the power to get this guy fired. That's probably the partner fired for allowing it to happen. And I have a theory as to why this happened over and over again. It's because when a white person meets a black person, the white person is really, really on guard to avoid the perception. The scintilla of Professor of prospection, perception, that he's racist. So they're not paying attention. They're going, oh my God, black person. I gotta be on guard. Gotta make sure that I'm woke, although that word was not used back then. That's what it is. They're nervous. They're not listening. Now, when I would be introduced to people who were black, there were a lot of black people at the law firm, only a handful of us were associate, but there were clerks, a paralegals, secretaries, and whenever I'm introduced to one of them, nobody said, this is mister Larry elder. He's no one said hi Lee. No one did that. No one black, just whites. And I'm not saying all whites did it. But when it happened, it was white who did it. Happened over and over again 'cause it get nervous. They're not listening. They're not paying attention. Well, you know, of course they have that privilege. I don't know. Hi Lee, Kylie happened over and over and over again. Who knew I had the power to get them fired? Who knew I had the power to get them terminated? Without pay. Triple 8 9 7 one S 8 GE coming up. John fund, a new book out about voter fraud, how the left is winning elections with voter fraud. Triple H 9 7 one S 8 GE know my name is Larry, Larry, who Larry. Larry elder here again with the message for anyone struggling with pain, like I struggle with for years, and of course I want you to know about relief factor the 100% drug free supplement that tens of thousands are now taken every day. Obviously, I'm taking it every day because I like being out of pain. But I know you may be skeptical just like I was. But then I kept hearing about all the people who were no longer in pain, so I decided to give it a try. In fact, listen to Janice's story. I was skeptical at first, but because of the pain that I was having when I would substitute teach and have to climb stairs. So I have lower back, hip, and even knee pain. And after about three weeks, I found that I could climb stairs, pain free, but it wasn't only pain free..

"But I'll tell you something. I loved watching that double feature Saturday night of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. And rosemary's baby, I recommend doing that. These two great films are related and have so much in common, it's scary. I came across a review of rosemary's baby in the 1968 New York Daily News audible written by Kathleen Carroll who was a well respected critic in her day. She was always one of the names of the news that was mentioned with a bit of reverence. And she wrote, the subject matter is peculiarly repugnant. It is witchcraft, not as practiced in Salem or the like, but has taken seriously on a very own city. The idea that there might really be a Satan worshiping COVID living next door didn't actually seem that far fetched. It's a cruel irony that the director of a movie. Listen to this. This is brilliant. Receiving the books getting them all the labels and stickers and stuff and putting them out and then got beyond the register in that kind of stuff you know so ended up stocking and working that i love being down there because it was right down the street from the windmill dinner theater and a lot of actors came through doing plays there and a few of my she stop in the store to buy some stuff excellent but i got instilled in reading. Men was watching spenser for hire series on television. And one of the ladies that worked percent if you love the show who should read the books to read in the books and behold from their own. Isn't it interesting. How things often start with television I know that my love's mystery started with watching honey west way back in the day now going back more. Yeah but yeah. It's just funny. I'll have like that. You know when i got into reading rubber parker than but display in john d. Macdonald's just went from there and you know is started loving whatever. I can get my hands on all. Great stuffs well Tell us about arthur nikai. He's an interesting character. An excellent reign of former member of the special ice unit and a native american correct. Exactly how did you come up with this character not to mention his wife. Who's a news reporter. I thought that was interesting. Please tell us more. Sure i mean i. I started thinking about developing i. I took a two week vacation out there. And i traveled the route. That's in the book. So whatever i saw one that way dictated into a tape recorder and came back and transpose. It all down. You know this sort of developing characters and backstories the characters and I stumbled across. I wanted to be different in a lot of ways and other writers out there writing about that and not not as far as police goes or whatever it may be you know. But i developed arthur nikai based on my love for our kalashnikov by the native american flute player. And at the time. One of my friends. Where i worked a million years ago. It seems like now Whose first thing with arthur. So i liked the way that rain together. So i use that they'll to character that As far as his. Wife sharon goes. I actually was texting back and forth in the mornings with one of the local reporters in the nbc station here and chicago and Wanted to ask her some questions about you. Know what you give up to have this life you have. I wanted to make her real and things that happen In their life once you have that job while things you don't get to do You miss a lot of birthdays. Anniversaries you're always on the air doing something you know so. She helped out a lot with that. And i developed that curator of the other ones of jake. Bill cody which is loosely based on my grandfather large barrel chested man. You know With that so i start molding these people into what i i have now needs really interesting the way your travels informed your fiction writing. So yeah i. What was the whole plan to do that. Because you know you can't just look online and find pictures and things and do things and men do searches. you have to be there. And that's what i found out a long time ago. I told on hillerman once at the her father helped me understand the importance of descriptive sentencing. You know surrounding sect place I think robert parker helped me develop a dialogue kind of conversations in books. So i use those along with that. I had to be there. You have the smell that you have to see to taste it and feel the heat feel the cold in order to convey that to the reader in the book and a lot of people who have read my books feel like they're right there in the situation in the area. I love that.

"So reread that okay soon. After in january of nineteen forty-six parson hubbard ventured out into the mojave desert to perform a sex magic ritual known as the babylon working. This was an attempt to manifest the horror of babylon so that she may give birth to a moon child the antichrist's written about in crowley's book of the same name which dealt with the battle between good and evil magicians over and unborn baby. Interestingly this plot was revisited in the movie rosemary's baby directed by roman polanski. Shortly before his wife sharon tate and her unborn baby were murdered by followers of charles manson. Who had ties back to hubbard and the mojave desert okay. So so so the movie that tape made polanski army rosemary's baby. Yeah was talking about that actual thing or just the the right on the right concept now. Well i don't know that we don't know if that for a factory in theory it was just a story you know it's just odd re reality the term Reality mimicking yeah. We're fixing fixing seems to be like the the book titan or whatever. It was written abolish before the titanic. There was basically about a giant ship that sank in the north korea. Yeah i just finished listening to that book Chaos and it's about the whole what's what's his name is. Charles manson veal. Have you read that book. No but i know other things about my this guy. Yes so this guy. was a journalist and he was supposed to do some like quick article on the on one of the Anniversaries of the whole deal and he starts interviewing people and he gets way down into this rabbit hole and he's just like i. There's like more to this story. Oh yeah and so he keeps doing. He keeps getting more deadlines pushed back and deadlines pushback and eventually he gets dropped by the magazine or whatever and he still does research and then he gets hired for a book deal and he does that and he keeps pushing the deadline back digging and digging. It takes him twenty years of digging into the story and he's still. There's just like these open ended questions. But i mean it links the whole thing to the cia and all this kind of crazy stuff gets into that deeply. He makes a lot of connections connections to the kennedy assassination. There are a lot of really strange. Strange connections there that. Are you know really hard to explain. But i try to leave that stuff out this. This is relevant to me. Just finished that book. This is crazy dude all right. So during this ritual the babylon working parsons claim to have communicated with babylon and took careful notes of her words.

"Parsons became enamored with hubbard and wrote to crowley stating i deduced. That hubbard is in direct touch with some higher intelligence. He is the most philhellenic person i have ever met. And is in complete accord with our own principles but this admiration was also shared by parsons mistress. Betty and the two soon became lovers much to the chagrin of parsons who believed that in accordance with the lameck beliefs was above petty jealousy nonetheless. It was becoming increasingly apparent to all that parsons. life is beginning to spiral out of control. Parsons wrote to crowley. I am so nauseated by christian theological About the good and the true that i preferred the appearance of evil to that of good. The change in parsons demeanor was palatable fella mites living at the parsonage stated. There is something something strange going on our own. Jack is enamored of witchcraft. The whom fort in voodoo from the start. He always wanted to evoke something no matter what i am inclined to think. So long as he got a result this led many of the followers to believe he unleash some type of demonic force described as alien alien and inimical to into the house so they began performing regular banishing rituals one day. Strange noises began emanating from parsons room causing concern so when the door was opened their stood parsons draped in a black robe with arms outstretched in the center of a pentagram before an altar as his voice rose and fell in a rhythmic chat. Parsons was using the system of dr. john dee's inaki magic recommended by crowley to perform certain operations to obtain an elemental mate. Yeah the babylon working. Parsons continued to perform the ritual. And a few days later hubbard. Who was in the kitchen at the time. Called out to parsons saying. He had been struck strongly on the right shoulder. Parsons hurry to hubbard side and in parsons the to observe a brownish yellow light about seven feet high in the kitchen and as and in a subsequent incident part parsons heard a buzzing metallic voice crying out where have we heard those two reference. Yeah right soon. After in january of nineteen forty-six parsons and hubbard ventured out into the mojave desert desert to perform a sex magic ritual known as the babylon working.
